A dispensation is a period of time during which man is tested in respect of obedience to some specific revelation of the will of God. Seven such dispensations are distinguished in Scripture. It is very important to realize that in every dispensation salvation has been by grace alone (Acts 10:43).

Welcome to Bibleline with Dr. Hank Lindstrom. Coming to you from Calvary Community Church in Tampa, Florida. Declaring God’s love through radio and television. Providing real answers to an ever-searching world. Got a question? Dial toll free at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Now here’s the host of Bibleline, Dr. Hank Lindstrom. Well, good morning and welcome to Bibleline great to be with you today. Thanks for tuning into the broadcast We appreciate you and all of our listeners I look forward to being with you every day Monday through Friday We come to you live from our studios right here at the Calvary Community Church in Tampa, Florida Thank you for tuning in today and this is Friday and of course This is the week that Christ was crucified and we’re excited about about celebrating the death, the barrel, the resurrection of Christ.
And by the way, tomorrow we’re having a sundown service. If you’d like to come, it’ll be at 6 p.m. tomorrow night. We believe that Christ was in the grave 72 hours and was crucified on Wednesday, the preparation day of the Passover which was Thursday, and that Christ rose 72 hours after being placed in the tomb which would be sundown Saturday which is really the end of the Sabbath and the beginning of the first day of the week. If you’re not familiar with how the Jewish people count time from sundown to sundown this might sound very confusing because we count our days from midnight to midnight.
But if you go from sundown to sundown and as the Jews do count their night first because you would have to because the night begins the new day at 6 p.m. the new day begins. And so today’s Friday and tonight at 6 p.m. begins the Sabbath. And tomorrow at 6 p.m. the Sabbath ends and the first day of the week begins, and that’s when Christ rose. And in the morning you see the women coming to the tomb, but they didn’t come to see a resurrection, and they didn’t see a resurrection.
They discovered an empty tomb and Christ was already risen by 12 hours when they came early Sunday morning. Remember Sunday night comes first and precedes Sunday morning and Christ rose at the beginning of the first day of the week at sundown on Saturday. I’m Dr. Englund Striman. Welcome your calls today. You can call us at 1-800-576-3771, 1-800-576-3771. And we hope that you’ll call. You can get up on the air live with us, or you can also leave an off-air question, and we’ll be glad to take it.
Today, many call Good Friday, but it’s really just Friday. We just had a Wednesday service here called Good Wednesday as we believe Christ was really Crucified on Wednesday and that’s certainly easy to figure out why because Christ could not possibly have been in the grave 72 hours or three days and three nights and be crucified on Friday and squeeze three days and three nights between Friday and Sunday it just doesn’t work and Of course if you leave Christ in the grave until Sunday morning Because he entered the grave at sundown that would be an extra night period and it would be three days and four nights not three days and three nights as Christ said so we invite you to come tomorrow night at six o’clock Saturday to our sundown service will have a lot of fun in Celebrating the resurrection of Christ from the dead then on
Sunday of course resurrection Sunday will have a 10 30 morning worship and resurrection service. You are welcome to come. It will be a great day and tomorrow evening will be a great evening. In fact, we had a bunch of people get saved in our good Wednesday service. Isn’t it wonderful that we can take advantage of this wonderful holiday to talk about the death, the burial, the resurrection of Christ, which is the gospel message. It is the means by which Christ is saved.
Christ, when he was rejected, announced that he was going to build his church and the church age began at pentecost paul you know in the book of a phasians He talks about numerous ages or dispensations. He says, If you have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God, which is given me to you word. And he talks about this dispensation that began at Pentecost being a special age that was not made known in other ages or dispensations. Look at what it says in verse 5 of Ephesians, which in other ages or dispensations was not made known under the sons of men as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit.
The uniqueness of this age is that the Gentiles should be fellow heirs, verse 6 tells us, and of the same body and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel as well as the Jews. The Jews and Gentiles in one body comprise the body of Christ, which is what this dispensation is all about. In Ephesians 1-11, we have Paul talking about another dispensation by name. He talks here that in the dispensation, Ephesians 1-10, of the fullness of times, that’s the the millennium when he says all things will be gathered together which are in heaven and in earth, in Christ, and that is the thousand year reign of Christ called the dispensation of the fullness of times.
Ephesians chapter 3 talks about other ages or other dispensations. We know one obviously began at Mount Sinai and that was the dispensation of law. That ran right up until Christ nailed the law to his cross, and the fact that he was rejected put that dispensation on hold. God slips in this 2000 year dispensation of grace, or the church age, and the last seven years of the dispensation of law still have to take off the clock. It’s Daniel’s 70th week spoken of in Daniel chapter 9.
What is interesting is that as soon as the Rapture happens, we go back on Jewish territory. The Jews will be back in their land. They are right now in anticipation of this. They’ll rebuild their third temple, and that will happen right after the Rapture. Two Old Testament prophets are coming back. Revelation 11 identifies them as Moses and Elijah. The witnesses during that seven years will be Jewish witnesses again as God used the the Jewish nation as its witnesses in the dispensation of law.
So 144,000 Jewish men will do the evangelization of the world during the tribulation period. And so on and so on. We have obviously Jewish prophets back on the scene, whereas we don’t have prophets today. The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 13 that the gift of prophecy would cease when the New Testament was complete. And so we’re in an age right now with no prophets. What is so interesting is that when truths are discovered that have always been in the Bible, it seems like some people think that they are something that has been invented by somebody.
For example, when Martin Luther, the Reformer during the Reformation, rediscovered to us the gospel message. You know, he was a, had a doctorate degree in divinity and he was a Roman Catholic priest and he was asked to teach at the University of Wittenberg, Germany of all things the book of Romans. Well, if you read his story, he gets down to Romans 1, 16 and 17 and he discovers, as Paul said, I’m not ashamed of the gospel of Christ. it the gospel is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believe us.
And so Martin Luther reads that and he gets saved. All of a sudden this didn’t match up with the Roman Catholic theology that he had been taught as he had earned his doctorate and was now invited to teach at the university there in Germany. He got saved by reading the Lord of God. And then of course he proclaimed it. Now did Martin Luther invent a new doctrine? No. Did he, all of a sudden, change the rules for God and now tell us that we’re saved by grace, whereas the Catholic Church had taught you’re saved by works?
No. What did Martin Luther do? Simply discover a truth that laid dormant for a long time. John Darby was one of those that exposed the truth of how to rightly divide the Bible into these different ages that Paul talks about. They’re plainly in the Bible we don’t need to go to John Darby, we can go to the Apostle Paul. He talks about the dispensation of grace in Ephesians 3 2. He talks about the dispensation of the fullness of times.
grace in Ephesians 3-2. He talks about the dispensation of the fullness of times in Ephesians 1-10. He talks about in Ephesians 3 other ages or dispensations that during which God did not reveal this present age in which we are living in that began at Pentecost and will conclude at the Rapture. This age has a beginning and an end and so do all the dispensations that are in the Bible. And of course I believe as Dr. Schilfield does in the Schilfield Bible that there are seven dispensations and it begins in the garden and each one has a beginning, each one has an ending and there you have the dispensation of innocency and while Adam and Eve were in the garden they were tested as each dispensation is a test of man in regard to some revelation from God, and they were tested as to their obedience to the command
not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. It didn’t take Satan long to deceive Eve, and Adam and Eve took of that fruit, and the dispensation ended quickly. They were cast out of the garden, and a chair-bim with a flaming sword was put outside of Eden to prevent them from going back, probably so that they could not eat of the tree of life and remain in a sinful form forever because they wouldn’t have died.
Well, God, of course, ended that dispensation and we have the dispensation of conscience and so on. And each one comes to a conclusion. The next one ends in the flood as we find that man, certainly being guided by his conscience, wasn’t enough. And the whole earth became corrupted except for one family. that was Noah and his three sons and all of their wives. Eight people survived, whereas the rest of the world became so evil and corrupted and rejected the Lord that God destroyed that world in a universal flood encompassed the entire planet and all life except that life that was in the ark was extinguished, it perished and certainly the Bible is clear.
Then we go right on through and there are seven total, but we are living in the dispensation of grace, named by Paul in Ephesians 3-2. The next dispensation is the dispensation of the fullness of times, named by Paul in Ephesians 1-10. Is this something invented by some recent Bible teachers? Of course not. It’s right there in the scripture, goes right back to the time of Christ and the Apostles. And Paul tells us not only he, but the other Apostles received the same revelation from God by the Spirit of God.
It says here in verse 5, which in other ages, or you could read other dispensations, was not made known under the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy Apostles, and prophets by the Spirit. So here we find that Paul wasn’t the only one who got this message, but all the apostles did and all of the early New Testament prophets received this message and it was one that they were all in agreement on. This was something that God had done and that at Pentecost this new age began and it began as a time when God would include Gentiles in the same body called the body of Christ with Jewish people.
I have Jewish members of my church that have received Christ as their Savior. Obviously, this is typical of what a New Testament church ought to be. It ought to comprise Jews and Gentiles. It’s interesting that many Gentile churches have no Jewish members and of course that isn’t too unusual but if they’re reaching out to Jews which we ought to do then they ought to have some Jewish people coming to know Christ and be a part of that congregation. You know in Romans 1 16 that I recited earlier the verse that verse and the following the ones that Martin Luther read and got saved back in the 1500s that wonderful verse as I am not ashamed Paulson of the Gospel of Christ.
For it, the gospel is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believed it. To the Jew 1st, that was historically, and then to the Gentiles, as the Jews received the message, three thousand got saved at Pentecost, but then as the age developed and the gospel went out, it primarily became a Gentile age. I am a Gentile that has received Jesus Christ a Jewish Messiah as my Savior, as my Messiah, and I am saved. And so what is so amazing to me is that when a new truth is discovered, it is not really new if it is biblical because it goes right back to the Bible and I never try to quote people.
But it is interesting that people that don’t have it right are always pointing to people and whether people agree or don’t agree and who believed it or didn’t believe it, and that really means nothing. Martin Luther did form or originate the gospel. He simply rediscovered it to the world. The gospel has been there since the beginning of time because before the foundations of the earth, the Bible tells us that God planned our redemption and how that Christ would die for our sins.
And Peter tells us, therefore, with the precious blood of Jesus Christ, as of a land without blemish and without spot, Christ was slain before the foundations of the world in 1 Peter chapter 1. So Peter says that this plan was laid out long before man was even created. God knew that man would fall and he provided a Savior. the gospel really predates the creation of man. It says in Galatians 3 8 that the Scriptures foreseen that God would justify the heathen or the nations through faith preached before the gospel unto Abraham.
So Abraham heard the gospel, believed the gospel. So the gospel didn’t come along with Christ, it came along with God before Christ ever ended the world. The message, of course, was the same as what Christ brought when He came into the world, that this Messiah, this Savior that would be born of a virgin would give His life and die, and those that would trust in Him would receive the gift of eternal life. And Abraham had that unique privilege of enacting out the gospel as he took His only son a picture of Christ and offers him up on Mount Moriah, the very mountain upon which which Christ died on the cross of Calvary.
There he got his son back, as there was a substitutionary payment made as a ram was caught there in a thicket by its horns, and the ram was offered up in the place of Isaac, and Isaac was set free. We not only see Isaac living, which is a picture of the resurrection that he had been slain in Abraham’s mind from the day that God told him to slay his son, and that three days later he gets him back. But he is left upon that mountain, a picture of the ascension.
And we have the whole story of the death, the barrel, the resurrection of Christ enacted out by Abraham in Genesis 22. It is an exciting story. And today is just Friday. But Wednesday of this week was good Wednesday and Christ was placed in the grave, we believe, in those three hours after he died at three in the afternoon by six he was in the grave seventy-two hours later he rose and that is sundown tomorrow and that begins the first day of the week as sunday night precedes sunday and so sunday morning they came they found the two men to price was already risen from the dead i’m doctoring clincer and we’re going to go to the phone lines we have all of our lines lighted up we’re going to start down in timbrek pines down south florida and we have joe on the line and joe welcome to bible and you’re on the air
high-pass the hang how you doing good good to hear from you yeah i wish you guys were here on the radio here in south florida well we’re trying and we’re soon gonna get up on the air we have some uh… leads and we hope that it worked out for us because i mean i miss you guys so much on the road every day i listen to this listen to your program until unfortunately uh… the lvj kicked you guys out for telling the truth about the word so I think you’re right.
But I guess I should shut them off too. But anyway, I have a couple of questions for you. Quick one. Have you ever heard of Peter Ruckman? I have, but I’m not real familiar with his doctor, so I can’t help you if you’re asking about him. Oh, okay. Because he also recommends the Scoville Bible. And he seems to have, like, talk about the same stuff you do as far as, like, you know, major doctoring and stuff. Yeah. I guess you never heard him.
Okay. And another thing I wanted to ask you about is… You know, 1st Peter 3 where it says that they were preaching to the spirits in prison. Right. And it’s really talking about the Holy Spirit who raised Christ from the dead. Verse 18 is the same spirit by which Christ preached to those people in the days of Noah while they were living through Noah. That Noah, who had the Spirit of God upon him, preached before the gospel to those people before the flood.
And the result was that none of them trusted the Lord, and God patiently waited while God was preparing the ark according to Peter. And then of course the flood came. They had ample warning and the gospel preached to them, but they rejected it and of course they drowned and only no one’s family survived. So this is not talking about preaching to them after they died, but it’s talking about that they are now in prison and that prison of horses and Hades or in the heart of the earth where they’re in Flamin’ Tormin’ and they’re waiting the eventual day when they’ll be cast into hell.
But again, Satan and his angels are first in and so they have to wait until after Satan and his angels are cast into hell. Then the lost are brought up out of Hades according to Revelation 20. They’ll be judged according to their works and to what light they rejected they’ll be assigned a degree of punishment and can’t stand the eternal like a fire after the thousand-year earthly rate of price right i thought that that’s it attRot I hate to mention names here but I’ve listened to a show on one of the stations and he made a theological mess out of that verse and had a whole half hour show about it and I’m like where is he going with this I just had to shut it off because it was just like I don’t know where you’re going with this but anyway thank you for clearing that up for
all right a lot of people make a mess of it and it’s unfortunate but the Bible is very clear if you compare scripture with scripture and you always interpret the difficult and the light of the clear, you’ll come out real fine and real clean on all these. Joe, thanks for calling and pray that we can get on the air down in South Florida again soon. Okay, thank you. Uh-huh. That was Dave, rather down in Pembroke Pines, South Florida. We now have Wainita in Port Charlotte, Florida.
Let me see if I I’ve pronounced her name right or if I messed it up. Is that right, why neither? Yes. All right, you’re on here. Port Charlotte. We get you on the SBB in Inglewood. Well, great. Yeah. It’s a ministry. My question is on the timeline, again regarding Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection, the verse, 1 Corinthians 15, 3, and 4, where the gospel sits towards this. I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how the Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures and with buried and rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.
I wonder how you see that in relation to the three days and three nights. I’ll hang up and let you in and listen on the radio. Dear Andrew. Well thank you so much for calling in today Juanita in Port Charlotte, Florida listening on FM 91.3. I believe it is. Well, it says here, and this is a wonderful verse, and this is the classic passage that we use to define the gospel. Paul says, I delivered unto you the people at Corinth, first of all, that which also received how that Christ died for our sins according to the Scripture, and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.
All the Scriptures had foretold his death, Pharaoh, and resurrection, and I just mentioned one of those instances where Abraham himself enacted out the gospel by offering up his son in Genesis chapter 22. What is fascinating to me is that I wrestled with this as a new believer. I saw some verses that said Christ rose on the third day, and I saw other verses that said he rose after the third day. The only way to resolve that, I finally figured that out, had to be if he rose exactly when the third day ended and exactly when the fourth day began.
And that’s exactly what happened. That’s why we’re having a sundown service tomorrow because we believe he rose exactly 72 hours after he’s placed in the grave. Being placed in the grave at sundown on Wednesday, he has to rise at sundown on Saturday and that That is the end of the seventh, that’s the third day, and it’s the beginning of the first day of the week or the fourth day. The Jews will come to the end of Sunday. He rose right there at the beginning of Sunday, which is Saturday 6pm.
The Jews still count their time that way. Tonight at 6pm the sabbath will begin. Tomorrow at 6pm the sabbath will end. Sunday night will begin. As the Jews count their days from the sundown to the sundown, they count their nights first. I hope that helps and I hope I understood your question. Thank you for calling in. We have Dave in Plant City Florida. Dave, welcome to Bibleline You’re on the air. Good morning, Dr. Hank. I’ve got three quick questions for you.
Is Palm Sunday really on the Jewish Sabbath which would be Saturday? No, I believe it was on Sunday. Last Sunday was Palm Sunday. The 10th day in the crucifixion week of the month, night sand. It always changes every year because of the lunar calendar. Okay, second, is it a blasphemy to have a sunrise service being bail with the sun god and is it all relate to that? Well, it does relate to that, but I don’t think most people are doing that.
I think that most people are really celebrating the resurrection of Christ, but the origin is pagan and had to do with the resurrection of bail and the celebration of his mother Easter getting his son bail back to life. Okay, my third question is I have a friend who believes there’s no flesh will be in the millennium I told him that at the end of the thousand years people wouldn’t turn against Christ and go with Satan if there were I can give him Well, obviously all of those that get saved in the tribulation period Will enter in their flesh bodies into the millennium and they’ll be the subjects of the tribulation period the Bible talks about those that are left after Armageddon and after Christ’s return and killing all the unsaved.
Those are the ones that are the subjects. We’ve got to go to break, but we’ll come back into a second half hour. So say, tune right where you are. I’ll be right back. Don’t go away. Bibleline will be back in a moment. filt at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Alum Dr. Englund’s German, this has been a wonderful Friday. It’s not good Friday because Christ was crucified on Wednesday and he could not have possibly been crucified on Friday and have three days and three nights between Friday and Sunday.
But tomorrow we’re going to be having a sundown service at 6 p.m. celebrating his resurrection from the dead at the time we believe he rose. And then in the morning on Sunday we’ll celebrate our resurrection Sunday service. You can watch that on the internet. All you have to do is go to BibleignministriesShar.org or .com, click on the camera on the home page and you’ll be able to watch our Resurrection service on Sunday morning at about 11 o’clock. You’ll see clouds going by, you’ll hear the old rugged cross and as soon as I begin the message the audio and the video will come up and you can watch there and it will also go into archive and you can watch it later in the future.
So keep that in mind and again I hope you have a wonderful resurrection Sunday and I hope you’re using the R word when you’re out in public. Tell people happy resurrection. Don’t use the E word because truly that’s pagan. It’s the name of the mother of Baal. Her name was Astroth. If you just get rid of the ending it’s Aishtar in the English it’s Easter and of course that’s the name of the mother of Baal. We’re going to have a great time.
We invite you to tune us in on the internet or come on by if you’re in driving distance, but if you’re in any other city or state, you’re welcome to go to the internet site, BibleLineMinistries.org or .com. By the way, we invite you to pray for us and also to partner with us. If everybody that listens would give a few dollars every month, we would be able to take care of everything without any problem at all. It seems like the majority who enjoy Bible on probably are not really committed to partnering with us.
But your partnership is essential. We to be on the air need your help. We don’t have any other means of financial support but you. And for Bible on to continue and the Bible on to expand, we need your gifts and no gifts is too small. to help my mind for the month of April. Would you call? You can give a gift by credit card over the phone. You can also… Give us the Synion envelope with our address on it and send it by mail.
You can also go and take a look at our resources and that will help Bibleline a little bit. If everybody did a little bit, we would be just fine. Pray for us. Now we’re going to rejoin the stations that have been on break, so keep your radio dial tuned right where it is, and we’ll do the second half hour of Bibleline right now. Would you like to call Bibleline and ask Dr. Lindstrom a question? You can. Just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3771.
That’s 1-800-576-3771. Now here again is Dr. Hank Lindstrom. Alright, we’re back for that break and this is Bibleline and we’re coming to you live from Tampa, Florida. From our studios right here at the Calvary Community Church where I’m the pastor and we look forward to being with you each and every day. This is a special day being one of the days in the crucifixion week and we believe Christ was crucified on Wednesday. This is not good Friday. It was good Wednesday that Christ was crucified and he will rise tomorrow on the crucifixion week calendar and that will be at 6 p.m.
and then the tomb will be discovered empty on Sunday morning. Please join us if you are in driving distance for our sundown service. It’s tomorrow, April 7th at 6 PM and then Sunday if you’re in driving this, come by and worship with us as we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus again from the dead on Sunday morning at 10.30 AM. I have an adult class at 9.15 year. Welcome to come and join us for that as well. Some have told us they’re coming into town from out of town and we’ll join us for our sundown service and then stay overnight and join us for our Sunday resurrection services.
wonderful and thank you. Again we’re on the internet if you want to go there and check out BibleLineMinistries.org or .com and you can click on the camera on the home page and be connected to our worship service Sunday morning. You’ll have a dark screen when we’re not webcasting but around 11 o’clock you’ll see clouds going by and you’ll hear the old rugged cross theme and right as soon as I begin the message the video and the audio will come up you’ll be be able to watch and hear the message delivered here at Calvary on this Sunday, April 8th.
And I hope you have a wonderful resurrection weekend or a wonderful resurrection Sunday. And thank God we have a risen Savior who is alive from the dead and alive forevermore and is coming back to the earth again. How exciting that is. All right. Dr. Anker, we have Vivian who has been holding for a long time and so patient, Vivian, welcome to Bible on your own there. Hi, Dr. Hink. How are you? I’m fine, how are you? Good. I have a question for you that’s been bothering me for 34 years.
And it’s a two-part question. I’ll make it real quick. And you will probably hate me after I ask you and I’ll feel sad. The second advent of the Lord is perfectly obvious in the Old Testament and the New Testament. But the rapture scriptures is all discernment. You have to read into it and then sing you a wendow. And why isn’t it perfectly obvious? The rapture scripture. And finally my pastor, because of that, doesn’t believe in the rapture. Wow. Well, by the way, you’re calling from Petersburg, Virginia.
Is that not correct? No, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Well, you’re in Pennsylvania. Okay. I just didn’t get that right here. Thank you for calling in. Well, you know, it’s really not that way at all. It says clearly in 1 Thessalonians 4, 17 that the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with a voice of the archangel and the dead in Christ shall rise first, then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
Now the second coming is when Christ actually comes back in his feet touch on the earth and he actually is walking and living here on the earth in a physical body during the thousand year end of Christ. the Rapture, if you read that passage, it’s a meeting in the air. It’s a meeting in the clouds. And the believers are caught up to meet them there up in the clouds, in the air. Whereas at the second coming, seven years later, he comes back physically all the way to the surface of the earth.
And of course, he brings his saints, his believers back with him after that event. We’re going to come back with him and be on the earth during that thousand year reign of Christ. In other words, the distinction is this, at the rapture Christ comes for his saints, but at the second coming he comes with his saints. So he comes for us at the rapture, we’re caught up and meet him in the air. And then seven years later we’ll come back with him when he comes back to ruling reign and is actually physically on the earth.
The second coming is when Christ touches down on the Mount of Olives and it splits in half. Then he enters his temple that will be rebuilt after the Rapture and cleanses it and establishes his rule from Jerusalem as the world’s capital and brings peace on earth good will toward men. At the Rapture there is no peace on earth good will toward men. In fact the Bible tells us a period of wrath will follow it. sudden destruction comes upon those that are not caught up in the rapture according to the very next chapter there in 1st Thessalonians chapter 5.
So I think they’re very clear. Also Jesus makes a great distinction in John’s Gospel chapter 11. In verse 25 he says, I am the resurrection and the life. He is the believer in me, though he were dead yet shall he live. That really applies to most folks who have lived in this age from Pentecost. They believe they die and they will be resurrected when Christ returns at the Rapture. But then he says in verse 26 of John 11, and whosoever liveth and believeth in me.
In other words, he’s talking about a separate group that will be living and have believed on Christ when he comes and he says, they’ll never die. They’ll never die. They’ll never die. There’s a group that’s going to be exempted from death that’ll be caught up alive to meet the Lord. And I’m looking forward to being in that group. I don’t think we have much longer to wait and we’ll be caught up. So I don’t see this thing about being confusing or not clear.
I think the passages are very clear and I just don’t understand why people can’t see that they’re not ambiguous at all. And I wanted to say one more thing. I heard another preacher on the radio say that the word Easter is an old German word and it means to rise again and it’s not translated into English as Easter. I don’t know if you ever heard that. No, I don’t know that I believe that, but I certainly believe words get new meanings and words change meanings.
I think that the word Easter was used from the time of Constantine on in Christianity because the two merged when Constantine declared the world to be Christian and paganism came right sweeping right into Christianity and So they used it so long that they probably developed a meaning that it means to come back from the dead or something like that If we can’t return to Falls Church. Yes ma’am. Okay, thank you very much. Vivian, thank you for calling from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and we’re excited to be on there every day in Pittsburgh.
Thank you for calling in. We now have George in Deltona, Florida. George, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Shut the way of dying to me. How you doing, I want to ask you, my wife, well, my fiance, she is black. black, who is African American. I heard a show on TV one time about where they came from, but I kind of forgot where they came from. I know there is something about the Canaanites or something. Is there anything you can tell me about that?
No, I can’t. Actually, I believe that at the Tower of Babel in Genesis 11, when God changed the languages and dispersed the people and the nations were formed, that that is when probably also God gave the skin colors. But the Bible doesn’t say. So we really can’t definitively say where different skin colors came from. But that would be the place to have it happen when the nations were founded and the people because the language barriers that were developed by God changing the languages caused them to go off in different areas.
But if you don’t believe that and you just go to your encyclopedia, they say that the darker skinned peoples are people who live more in the equatorial regions of the earth where they had more exposure to the sun and those that are lighter skinned are generally more toward the polar regions and had lighter skin. But nobody does for sure. And I think we just have to wait out that when until we get to heaven. But there’s all of one race about it.
And it says… Basically in Jeremiah, the 10th Ethiopian changed his skin color and he can’t. We have definitely inherited different things from our parents. But we’re all related back to Adam. I was telling somebody, I think, this this week. I said, I’m related directly back to Noah. And you are too, of course, because we’re all related to Noah because it was Noah that was he and his three sons and their wives were the sole survivors of the flood. of the funded so the whole human race is also related back to no one’s wants to add well that’s what the guy was saying he’s saying that uh…
he could that no occurs one of his sons for cena naked and that he would be the lowest of all slaves and then that his son became a canine and then headed out towards like he’s the opia and all of the close to africa and that it all came out of the hot two that is that’s why well no critical is grand son and it wasn’t his son. But again, we just have to speculate. They can’t be proven. I’m not going to lose any sleep over it.
I know. No, because the guy I was listening to was actually going to scripture by it. And it kind of sounded like he was making a lot of sense. The other thing is, I forgot to get to see that I was going to order that to eat it. But would that be a problem with my salvation for me to try to investigate that? Of course not. You saw this in the secure because because of my fiance, she’s black We have to throw the new game with advice to do something we’ve done that already, but you know We I want to get it right with God, you know what I mean sure okay go right ahead and investigate all you want Thank you so much You take care if you get a good answer call me because I had never really seen a real good answer on the colors
Of the races we have Carl in Sarasota, Florida Cora, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Hey, Doc, great to talk to you. Hey, my wife brought up a great, interesting question about the shroud of turn for some reason she listened to these things and make a lot of sense to her. And I explained to her how it was all a kind of a joke and a hoax and that Jesus was wrapped. What you said, I said to her and, um, she brought up another thing about how, uh, well, When the women went to kind of interesting to me because he said that they brought I think they brought they were supposed to Bring the stuff to rap Jesus and they found the tomb empty right exactly they came with spices to finish the burial That had been so hurriedly done three days earlier Cool kid that you know they yeah names who they are there in
Luke 24 You see a number of women named by name that came early that morning with spices that they prepared to bring, to finish the burial proceedings. It says upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came into the sepulchre, Luke 24 verse 1, bringing the spices which they had prepared and certain other with them. Now when we get down to verse 10, it says it was Mary, Magdalene, and Joanna and Mary the mother of James and other women that were with them which told these things in the apostles.
But when they got there they found the stone rolled away verse 2 and then they entered in to the tomb and they found not. They found not the body. They came looking for a body. They didn’t come looking for resurrection and they didn’t see a resurrection. They just found an empty tomb. They did find two angels there though that told them, why are you here? Christ is not here, he’s risen just like he told you. He would be risen and they remembered his words and of course then they go in and tell the apostles.
And amazing to me, the apostles said in verse 11, their words seemed to them as idle tales and the apostles believed them not. So nobody was ready to accept a resurrection that morning and it wasn’t until later that day when Christ appeared to them that they were convinced that he’d come back from the dead. My question is why would they do it if he was there? Well because it wasn’t completed. I guess they wanted to use more perfumes and things.
They loved Christ and then you know they didn’t use embalming fluid in those days and the body began to deteriorate and it got to me an awful stink and so they perfumed it and so on. So I think they brought more spices. would have been twice. Yeah, yeah, they would have finished they they used Maren Aloe when they did the barrel on the day of the crucifixion but it was a hurried job and I’m sure they wanted to put more spices in on the body so that it wouldn’t smell.
But you said what Luke it said that I just read this one. Yeah Luke 24 here. Luke 24, alright. You’re so welcome. Happy resurrection weekend. Well, great. Thank you and thanks for using the R word which I hope I’m an influence on people to use that word and talk about the resurrection. We have Nyla in Lakeland, Florida, leaving an all-fair question. She says based on the scripture in Matthew 1240, it makes sense that Jesus rose on Saturday, not Sunday morning.
That is, he rose Saturday as the first day of the day. of the week began Sunday night coming first, like you say. When Jesus told the dying thief today, that’s what we would mean, Paradise. That means that Jonah went to Paradise and so on. Well, that’s exactly right. By the way, the word Shiel, S-H-E-O-L, and the word Hades are equivalent. Shiel is a Hebrew word used in the Old Testament. Hades is a Greek were used in the New Testament equivalent places.
But it was divided into two compartments, and one was a place where unbelievers were in flame and torment. Excuse me, and they’re still there, but also a place of paradise or comfort where believers went. And you read about that in Luke 16 beginning at verse 19, you have two men who die, a rich man and a beggar named Lazarus. Lazarus was saved. He went to the place of comfort. The rich which man was lost and he went to the place of a torment.
They could see each other across an impassable gulf. And when Christ died, he went there and emptied the place out. And on the third day, he took all those that were in the heart of the earth up to heaven. If you read Ephesians chapter 4, it describes this event. It says in my King James Bible, Wherefore he saith Ephesians 4-8, when Christ ascended upon high, he led captivity, captive. What group did he need captive? It was the believers of the Old Testament who were waiting for their sins to be paid for.
Now it says in verse 9, now he that us ended, what is it but also that he descended first into the lower parts of the earth? And then it says he that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heaven. descended into the heart of the earth, took all the believers out of Paradise. Paradise is now in heaven with the Lord. Also have a copy here of the new living translation. And you know, it totally rips that story right out of the Bible.
I just can’t believe they would do this, but they did. But in Ephesians 4, when you read the new living translation, It says here, now it says that he ascended. This means that Christ first came down to the lowly world in which we live. Nothing about going into the lower parts of the earth and taking the believers out of the heart of the earth up to heaven totally destroys the picture, the story of the Christ going into a paralyzed.
Christ didn’t go to hell. The apostles creed is wrong. It says Christ descended into hell. Christ didn’t go to hell. He paid for all of her sins on the cross, then he went to Paradise. As he told the dying thief, today thou shalt be with me in Paradise. I really don’t like to recite the Apostles’ Creed because it says Christ went to hell. That’s not true. That’s totally wrong. Nyla, thank you for calling in from Lakeland, Florida. We have here in the strongest in accordance, anonymous from Florida, somewhere in Florida, calls in the strongest in accordance with the word Easter means Passover.
It doesn’t, but the word translated Easter is a Greek word that means Passover. So it was wrongly translated and in Acts 12, 4 you’ll find the word Easter in your King James Bible, but Easter doesn’t mean Passover, but the word translated Easter does mean Passover, and I should have translated it Passover. So that’s what’s going on there. So that was a little correction on that. And thank you. We are now going to another offer a question here. We have John in Richmond, Virginia.
He asked about 19-28-19 and Mark 16-16. Well, 19-28-19 is talking about water baptism. And if you read that carefully, you’ll find that Christ tells us to baptize those that we’ve made disciples of. It says, go and teach all nations. The word teach there means to disciple. So when you disciple somebody after they become safe, then upon their decision to let it be known they are a Christian and to… out. Let others know about Christ to live for Christ. That’s the person that needs to be baptized with water.
In Mark 1616 Christ is talking about the salvation experience and that is not talking about water. I believe it’s talking about the spirit baptism. I have a CD where I’ve covered the 10 baptisms of the New Testament. That will be really helpful to you. I would recommend you get that and it’s only a gift of $7.00. We’ll give you two sermons. I did. It will give you a real, I think, eye-opener as to the different baptisms that are taught in which are important or the most important.
Thank you for calling in. We have John in Clearwater and he says China is in the news. Fox News calls it the Red Storm Rising. Is there prophecy in the sports that will come up against the USA in Iraq like they are reporting will happen? Well absolutely. If you read Revelation 9, Revelation 16, it talks about China coming and crossing the Euphrates River as they come into the Middle East. Do you know where the Euphrates River is, John? It’s right smack in the middle of Iraq.
So read your Bible, Revelation 9, Revelation 16. My series on CD on the Book of Revelation covers all of this. I think you’ll find it very exciting. But like you say, China’s in the news, Fox News calls it the Red Storm rising and obviously we’re getting closer here. We’re seeing how it looks like it’s going to play out and it’s going to play out exactly like the Bible said that it would a long time ago. In fact, in the book of Revelation 2000 years ago, we have Kathy in St.
Petersburg. Does the word luck come from word Lucifer? And I never heard that and I don’t think so, but I don’t know that there isn’t some connection there. But Lucifer, of course, is the name for Satan before he fell. And then he became renamed as Satan. So Lucifer is Satan. And I don’t know about the connection between the word luck and the word Lucifer. I don’t know if there is one. So I don’t use the word luck, though. I think Christians should drop that word because things are not by chance in the believer’s life.
I believe God really does guide and direct our lives so that things are not really things of chance. So we need to recognize that. Jean in St. Petersburg calls in, leaves us off her question. She says her mother speaks in tongues and she needs scriptures that will tell her mother that tongues has ceased. Well, Jean, in 1 Corinthians 13, verses 8 through 10, verses 8 through 10 of chapter 13 of Corinthians tells us there are three gifts in particular that would come to a halt.
The gift of knowledge, the gift of prophecy, and the gift of tongues. It says there that tongues would cease and it means in the Greek to come to an absolute halt. And that’s really what history bears out. Once the first century was over and the New Testament record was complete, which is really what the indicator would be when the tongues would cease. You don’t read about in the early Church Fathers tongues speaking. You don’t read about it during the Dark Ages.
You don’t read about it during the Reformation. Martin Luther, John Calvin, John Wesley, none of these people spoke in tongues. The great evangelist of the 18th century did speak in tongues, the old moody and Spurgeon and other greats Billy Sunday, none of those spoken tongues. This is a rather recent thing that began in 1906 in Azuzah, California and it’s a gibberish and it’s a counterfeit. The real gift was a known language. Again I have a CD where we cover all these scriptures in detail.
Why don’t you call and get that CD gene. It’s only $5 and I know it’ll help you. Plus we have a book by Merle Unger called The New Testament Teaching on Tongues that really is incredible. And he’s the one that wrote the Unger Bible Dictionary of numerous books. He’s got a, wow, he’s a great writer and a great expositor of the scripture. He wrote the book New Testament Teaching on Tongues by Merle Unger that is just incredible in dealing with the fact that this gift is over.
It’s ceased and has been ceased and hasn’t been revived. The gibberish is done by all the world religions and is a the counter-minute.
