You might want to order some of these and we have done many on different books of the Bible including the book of Revelation, the book of Daniel, the book of Jude, the book of Romans, the book of Hebrews and on and on and on.

But now we’re going to do the gospel of John. We’re going to do it in six weeks. And we’re excited about having that class available for you. You can call in and actually order the class and take it on the internet. So really anywhere on the planet earth you’ll be able to take the class the Gospel of John.

We’re going to have a wonderful time. What a great book that is. It’s so foundational for believers that every believer really ought to be grounded in the Gospel of John. By the way, this coming Sunday will be the third Sunday in July and Every third Sunday we have a dinner right after the morning worship service a lunch and We invite you to come and make a day of it You can come at 9 15 join my adult class you can come at 10 30 and join my worship service And then they stay for the dinner or lunch and be my guest and eat some of the best home cook food in all the world That’s this Sunday.

So make your plan some people come out from quite a distance They might spend a Saturday night over, come early for the 915 adult class that I teach for the 1030 worship service and then stay for the lunch and then head back to wherever they’ve come from. And you’re welcome to do that sometime. But of course, if you can’t, if you live in another city where you’re too far away, you can actually join our Sunday morning worship on the internet.

Did you know that? If you go to my website, BibleLineMinistries.org, you can click on the camera and if you do that around 11 o’clock you’ll see clouds flowing by. You’ll hear the Orogate Cross, our theme song, and exactly when I begin the message the audio and the video will come up and you’ll be able to watch. We have people all over the country that are watching every Sunday, but not only then, you can go back and catch the programs, the worship services for months and months back in the archive section.

But if you go to the left side, you’ll see a little button where you can click on Archives. And there you can pick up the past sermons and listen to the met eulie’s year whenever you would like. So good to be with you. I’m Dr. Hank Lindstrom. This is Bibleline and we’re going to take a look at the Bible for a few minutes.

and then we’re going to go and take our callers. If you’d like to call in, the number here is 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. We’re going to turn to 1 John, chapter 5, and what a grand chapter this is. And here we have a a passage that clearly defines for us who is an overcomer. An overcomer, according to the Bible, is not some special class of super-Christian, one who obviously is wearing his cape and has super-Christian emblazoned on his shirt and wears those spandic heights and can fly off into the sky.

That’s not it at all. You know, I really thought that an overcomer was somebody, not me, somebody that was a super Christian. Well, obviously, that’s not true. Did you know that every believer is an overcomer? Let me share with you the scripture. 1 John 5 verse 4 says, For whatsoever is born of God, overcome with the world. And this is the victory that overcome with the world, even our faith. And when you place your faith in Jesus Christ, that’s when you become saved, that’s when you become born of God, and that’s when you become an overcomer.

Verse 1 of this wonderful chapter, 1 John says, Whosoever believeeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God. So the moment you believe, the moment you trust Christ, you become an overcomer by virtue of the fact that Jesus Christ overcame death, the penalty of sin, Satan, the grave and so on by his death barrel and resurrection. And by virtue of the fact that he did that on our behalf, when we trust him as our Savior, we become overcomers.

Isn’t that great to know it really is. And in verse 5 this is even better. It says, who is he that overcomeeth the world? Here’s the answer. He, the believer that Jesus is the Son of God. That word, believe throughout here, means to trust. When you trust that Jesus Christ is exactly who he claims that he is, God who took on human flesh. Well guess what? The Bible tells us that you are from that point on an overcome. Not because of anything you have done, but rather because of what Christ did for you at the cross.

It is amazing that false gospel always points you to your own future and to your own deeds that you do or do not do, as the means of your ultimate entrance into heaven when the Bible, when it presents the true gospel, always takes the lost and dying center and and points us back to the cross where the Bible tells us Jesus said, it’s finished. That word in the Greek means paid in full. Full satisfaction received for the debt. Amazing.

Well, that’s what the Bible says, that Jesus paid it all. All to him we owe. Sin had left a crimson stain, but he washed it as white as snow. And so we as believers are the overcomers in the Bible. You will find this is everywhere. Let me give you an example. If you turn to 1 John chapter 4 and verse 1, it says, Beloved, Believe Not Every Spirit. It is saying here basically to you and me as Christians, don’t be gullible.

Don’t believe every preacher that comes along. Because there are many false preachers going out into the world. Let me read the verse. 1 John 4 1 says, Beloved, let you and me as believers, Believe Not, Believe Not Every Spirit. But test or try the spirits whether they are of God because many false preachers are gone out into the world That was a shock for me as a brand new believer and I was Surprised as I would ask questions that I would have preachers tell me no They didn’t believe in a literal heaven or they didn’t believe in a literal hell Or they didn’t believe the Bible was really the word of God and I was shocked I thought in my nigh-evenness as an 18-year-old that every preacher believed the Bible and every one of them believed in heaven and hell and I was in for the shock of my life.

It’s amazing, but many, many do not believe in the literal Bible. And obviously you need to be very careful that you test what you’re hearing against the Bible. You have a wonderful checklist sheet that you can get from us. This is called Beliefs That Matter. About 25 basic doctrines are very simply presented. And you need, if you’re going to be in a sound church, where sound doctrine is presented, you need to really be in a church where they are in line with the basic doctrines of the Bible.

We also have in our Resource Center here a book called Major Bible Themes. This was written by Lewis Bear Shafer who founded the Dallas Philological Seminary over a hundred years ago, and this one covers 52 doctrines of the Bible. We also have a book by Charles Raimi called Basic Theology where he covers many of the doctrines of the Bible. You know, do you know any doctrines? Maybe you haven’t been aware that there are a lot of doctrines that you and I need to become familiar with.

It says in 2 Timothy 3 16, all scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable. First thing on the list it says is doctrine. If your doctrine is right, if the teachings that you believe or embrace are not correct, then nothing else is going to go right for you. Not only will you not become saved, but also you can’t live the Christian life because you really are off on the wrong foot. You have to go back to the Word of God as the foundation.

Well, in any case here, it warns about false spirits or demons, Satan’s angels, and Satan himself that would love to keep us blinded from the truth. But here’s the wonderful promise. I don’t want you to see this in 1 John 4-4. You are of God, little children, and have overcome them. What a wonderful phrase. We’re overcomers. We’ve overcome them. come them. Who are the them? That Satan and his fallen angels, the demons. So we have overcome them. Why? Because we’re living the Christian life faithfully, because we’ve studied the Word of God deeply, because we are praying every day.

Nobody doesn’t say that it occurs because of anything that you and I have done. Look at this one of the verse. First John 4 says, You are of God, little children, and have overcome them. Satan and his demons, because here’s the answer. Why? Because greater is He that is in you than He that is in the world. Who is in you? Well, Christ, God, the Holy Spirit, Christ dwells in you. And because Christ is in you. And He is the one who overcame death in the grave.

And Satan has come back from the dead. Because He lives in us, we therefore become overcomers by virtue of what He did for us. And it says here, we are overcomers and we’ve overcome Satan and we’ve overcome the demons because what greater is He Christ and the Holy Spirit dwelling in you than He that dwelleth in the world that Satan and his demons. Notice it has nothing to do with your works has nothing to do with your behavior and has to do with what Jesus did for you at the cross.

Let me go back to chapter 5 in verse 5 where it says, Who is He that overcomes the world? The answer is He that believe it that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. So once you become a believer, you are an overcomer and we have overcome Satan, greater Here is he that is in you, Christ dwells in us, the Bible tells us, and therefore we have overcome him that dwelleth in this world that is Satan and his demons.

Isn’t that amazing? So we are obviously overcomers and there are many, many benefits of being an overcomer and there are many verses that address those benefits to overcomers and one of those is somebody who is an overcomer, which is a believer, will never go to hell. It says, in Revelation 2, he that overcometh the same, it says here, shall not be hurt of the second death. So we know that anybody that is an overcomer will never go to hell.

The second death is to be cast into the everlasting lake of fire. And so when you read Revelation 2014 it says and they were cast into the everlasting lake of fire. This is the second death in that amazing well obviously That is the case. We are believers and therefore we are overcomers and as overcomers We will never ever go to hell will never go to hell is that exciting and I think it’s the best news you’re ever going to hear in your life.

We’re going to go to the phone lines in just a few minutes. I’m Dr. Englund from Mrs. Bibleline and we hope that you will call us at 1-800-576-3771. 1-800-576-3771. And I hope that you will give us a call here and you can also call and leave an offer question. Or if you go to the internet and you go to our site, BibleLineMinistries.org, and click on the Spinning Globe on that page that opens up. There will be a place for you to submit your question.

Just type it in. Type in your first name in the city you’re calling from and hit submit. and we’ll get… get that and we’ll put that up on the air. Then an email from apparently a seven-day Adventist denying that the seven-day Adventist believe that Jesus is Michael the Archangel, but it’s easy to find. LNG White claimed that Jesus is Michael the Archangel, obviously a denial of the deity price and the seven-day address really have a false plan of salvation and obviously don’t get a whole lot of things right.

And the reason why is because they are listening to other spirits, not the word of God, but they’re listening to LNG White who is their infallible interpreter. And obviously if you read the Bible through the lenses of the Watchtower Society or the writings of L.M.G. White or the writings of Mary Baker, Eddie or any others that have told us that they have the key of the code to interpret in the Bible. You’re going to be misled. You need to go right to the Bible and check out what you’re hearing against the Word of God.

Here we go. We’re going to go to the phone lines. The phone number again is 1-800-576-3771 and we’re going to go to Benjamin in Clearwater and Benjamin, welcome Welcome to the Bible, I just want to know about Jane 5, 19 and 20 talking about the brothers, talking about the church there, but say if somebody make a brother come back again, say that person from the combination, I would like to know what kind the condition is. condemnation is that. Okay, very good Benjamin and he’s talking about saving him I think from physical death because what is in view here is the chastening of the believer and some have been made sick as a result and they were to call for the elders of the church to pray for them so that they might be healed.

But this is talking about getting a believer to come back on track list in some cases where the Lord says He will take you home to heaven early. First John chapter 5 verse 16 talks about a sin unto death, a sin that will result in death in a Christian’s life where the Lord will take you home to heaven. And certainly as a believer, we should try to restore people that are wayward as Christians, but we obviously know that some God takes home to heaven early.

I believe that’s what it’s talking about. And we’re going to go to some other questions that are off here, but we want to invite you to call in and be on air with us just by dialing in 1-800-576-3771. 1-800-576-3771. We have Bill in Atoka, Tennessee, and he leaves this offer a question, could you provide some biographical information about C.I. Schofield? Also, give information on his beliefs. Would you like to purchase a Scofield Bible, but I’ve heard the Roger Dory things about him?

Well, Dr. Scofield was a lawyer and attorney, maybe that to strike against him. He also was apparently a priority of salvation and alcoholic, but obviously he got saved and the Lord used him in a wonderful way and he had a brilliant mind. And he assembled a wonderful group of contributors that contributed the notes to the Bible that he edited called the Scofield Reference Bible. I think it’s the greatest reference Bible out there. But you have to recognize that there are those who don’t like the Scofield Bible because of the doctrine that’s so clear.

Those that teach you can lose your salvation hate the Scofield Bible. Those that deny other basic doctrines that don’t like the rapture, the Scofield Bible. Those that don’t like the pre-tribulational position that believers are going to be caught up before the tribulation and will come back with Christ seven years later at the beginning of the millennium don’t like the Scofield Bible and so on and so on. So this is not unusual and of course some of the real greats have endorsed it.

You know, The Moody Bible Institute. I taught for Moody Bible in Chicago. For 11 years, and for many, many years, I don’t know if they still have it or not, but they had a correspondence course called the C.I. Schofield Course, where it took two years to complete the study. They would give you five hard volume books and they would give you the tests that you would have some person that you would choose a pastor, someone to take the test in front of them and then ship them off to Moody.

and complete the course. But what a wonderful course that was, and I hope they’re still offering it, but that’s a great one. And obviously some of the greats down through time, and I have recognized the significance of the Schofield Bible and its notes, and that course is one of those wonderful ones that’s been offered by the Moody Bible Institute for years and years and years. And I would be careful to, of course, believe the Scriptures. I don’t believe 100% every note that Dr.

Schofield has. But most of his are right on target and way ahead of his time. Because obviously that Bible came out in 1909. That’s almost 100 years ago. We have anonymous somewhere in Florida. We don’t know the city. Leave this offer a question when Jesus was on the cross and ask God why he had forsaken him why did he say that if He and the father are one Then why would he say that well, you know, it’s interesting that Jesus was a man as well as being God and So, God did not die on the cross.

Years ago, when the God is dead movement began, it really all began out of a seminary, a Methodist seminary in Georgia, in Atlanta. They were debating different issues and they said, if Jesus is God and Jesus died on the cross of Calvary, God died and God is dead. Well, let me inform you that God is not even sick. Not even close to it. God is forever alive and has never been in danger of dying or getting sick or moving off the scene.

But we have God taking on human flesh and it was the man Jesus that died on the cross of Calvary. And death in the Bible always means separation. And so we find that physical death is the separation of the soul of spirit from the body. Eternal death is the separation of the soul of spirit in hell forever, being separated from the presence of God. Well, on the cross, Jesus the man was forsaken. And therefore there was this spiritual death that occurred, a separation of Jesus from God as he became sin for us Christ who knew no sin that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

So we find that basically what happened there was spiritual death, separation from God, and then secondly he died physically and that was the full penalty for sin. You know when Adam and Eve sinned they died spiritually at the moment they took of the fruit. were immediately separated from God. God had fellowshiped with him in the garden and walked with him in the garden. All of a sudden, God did not. They were in a sense forsaken or separated, and that was spiritual death.

Then, of course, later, Adam and Eve both died physically. Both were the result of sin. Christ died to pay for our sins in full by spiritual death and physical death. He died both. And spiritual death occurred first. That was the same order of the back in Genesis. Adam and Eve committed the sin of disobeying God and taking him the fruit and they died spiritually. And then later they died physically. We’ve got a lot more questions here. We’ll have to take them after the break and in the second half hour, We’d love to have you call in at 1-800-576-3771 and we want you to keep your radio dial tuned where you are so you can catch the second half hour and you might want to try it on the internet and you’ll get the full program on the internet and go back later in archive and catch it as often as you like.

I hope everybody listening has trusted Jesus as Savior. the moment you trust Him, God to save you. He saves you eternally and that’s the best news you’re ever going to hear. Once you get saved, you’re saved forever. He’ll never cast you out. He’ll never lose you. By the way, this is the month of July. Summer months are somewhat lean as far as giving the Christian ministry. If you want to help Bibleline, this would be a great time to do it.

You could call in and leave a gift by credit card over the phone. You can also call and ask for an envelope to be sent to you with our address on it and you can mail a gift to Bibleline. In many cases, I want to thank you in advance for your prayers and for your gifts to Bible and thank you for tuning in today. We’re going to take a short break. We’ll come right back and we’ll do a second half hour.

So don’t go away. I’ll be right back. Don’t go away. Bibleline will be back in a moment. Give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Right. I’m Dr. Anglin Strimmon. It’s great to be with you. Thank you again for tuning into the broadcast. We appreciate every one of you who listen and we’re coming to you live from our studios right here in Tampa, Florida at the Calvary Community Church where I’m the pastor. We look forward to being with you all throughout the week and I hope you’ll tell your friends in your city and tell them what station you’re listening on.

But also tell your friends across the country and around the world that might be able to catch us on the internet. Again, 149 countries have logged in and you can have your friends in other parts of the world logging into the Bibleline program. Don’t forget we also have our worship services up on the internet. Click on the camera on the home page and you’ll be able to join us and watch the worship service live as it occurs. But also you can go back later and watch months and months for the sermons all right there on the internet at BibleLineMinistries.org or .com.

Click on the camera and during the week you need to click on the left side on the archive button but the black window right in the middle won’t come live unless you’re watching around 11 o’clock on Sunday morning. So go to the left and click on Archives and you’ll find also that’s where our classes are. Starting a new class and it’ll be the 17th of July for six weeks, two hours per week, it’ll be 12 hours of teaching on the Gospel of John and you can call in and sign up to do that on the internet.

But you can also come and sign up and take it right here live with me if you’re in the a Tampa Bay air where you can drive it in. But otherwise, take advantage of the internet. We certainly want you to know that your gifts are vital to our ministry. This is summer time, it’s July. And this is also a time when giving kind of diminishes and we could use your help during the summer months. Would you consider giving a gift to Bibleline for this month of July?

You can do it by credit card over the phone. You can also call our operators and have an emblem sent to you with our address on it. We hope you’ll do that and and help us out as we go through the lean months of summer. I think most all ministries experience that and so would you help Bible and we would appreciate that greatly. I want to thank you in advance for your gifts and for your prayers and for being part of our Bible and family.

Again, we’re going to do a second half hour. So keep your radio dial tuned right where it is. And we’ll join the stations that have been on break and come back and do a second half hour. So don’t move. Don’t turn that radio dial. Stay right where you are. And we’re going to do the second half hour right now. Would you like to call by the line and ask Dr. Lynch from a question? You can. Just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3771.

1-800-576-3771. Now, here again is Dr. Hank Lindstrom. tune us in by going to the internet. Go to our website, click on the spinning globe and you’ll be connected to our site and you’ll be able to listen to Bible and around the clock. I think there’s about a year’s worth of programs sitting there that you can listen to and also download. Our television programs are there. If you click on the TV set, our worship services are there. If you click on the camera and I hope that you will do that.

We are… We’re excited about a brand new class I’ll be teaching. This is going to be offered beginning July 17th, a week from tomorrow. And it’ll be two hours for six weeks long or 12 hours of teaching Tuesday nights from seven until nine and that’ll begin on July 17th and a total of 12 hours. We’re asking a gift of $60. That’s $5 a class to take this series. You can also, after its complete completed order the CDs and also ordered DVDs of the class so you can hear it again and again and so on.

We have many series that we’ve already completed and about 40 of them are available. We have a lot of folks that are using them around the country. I just talked to a family up in Pennsylvania and they use these to have a Bible study in their basement. Many people come and they say that they play the worship service, then have a little bit of group discussion, and then have refreshments, and they’ve led many people to Christ by using the teaching.

Sometimes they play a part of the study and then pick up the next week. But that’s an idea for you. Maybe some of the teachings that we have or the sermons can be used to facilitate a Bible study or a teaching class. I know one church in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. They took the series I did on the book of Romans and they used it to facilitate a class on the book of Romans. We go verse by verse and we also do that with Hebrews which many people consider very difficult.

And we don’t skip the difficult passages. We go head on and we certainly hope that you will take advantage of these series to be be able to use them for your own personal study and learning, but also for your maybe a Sunday school class or a Bible study to use them to facilitate that. We have of course a lot of summer left to go. We’re about halfway through the summer, hard to believe, but this coming Sunday will be the third Sunday in July.

What does that mean? Well here at my church we have a dinner Sunday every third Sunday of the month. And that’s this Sunday so you can come and kind of make a day of it. Sometimes people come in from a distance and they’ll spend the night in a hotel or motel and come in the morning for my 9.15 adult class, stay for the morning worship at 10.30, stay for lunch. It’s a wonderful meal of people cooking their best home cooked food and be my guest and stay for that lunch and then they head back home.

And we love to have you come by and see us sometime because you can come by any day during week and visit our Resource Center. You can also come by on any Sunday and of course join us for worship. We had some folks here this Sunday from Columbia, South America. And we’ve had people really amazingly from around the world coming through. I just think that’s the hand of God because we’re reaching people, believe it or not, from all over the world, 149 countries are able to catch us on the Internet that have actually logged on.

Did Did you know we have a 7 minute video presentation of the gospel at the beginning of our website presentation and last month, the month of June, we had 2,800 people watch that 7 minute video. Isn’t that incredible? 2,800 people just in the month of June, this month it just passed watching that 7 minute video. You can order that in 7 minutes for a gift of $7 and play that in your home for a few a loved one or take it to another.

You know, if you’re going on vacation, take it with you, play it for the relatives. You can get people using this sit around for seven minutes. And we hope you’ll take advantage of that. You can also link that to your website. If you have one, just go to mine. And when you see that seven minute intro video that we produced on how to be saved, there’s a place on the right which tells you how you can make a link to that to your website so that people that visit your site will be able to see the presentation of how to be saved and get saved.

And a lot of businesses and a lot of individuals have made that link and we’re excited about that. We want you to do it, no charge, we want the gospel. to get out. But again, this Sunday, if you were to come the third Sunday, you could come at 9.15, and I teach an adult class You could join me for that. The kids and the family, others could go to other classes, but I’d love to have you in my class And then at 10.30 in the morning worship joined me for that.

Be my guest and then stay for the dinner, follow and eat up. We have some great food. We never thus far have never run out. We always have like the feeding of the 5,000 with the fishes in the low. the loaves. It seems like God seems to multiply and we have enough food for everybody that comes. So, come on out this Sunday. And of course, tell your friends about Bible Iin and if you can help us, you know, we are dependent totally upon our listeners to support the program.

And this is the summer. It’s the lean time of the year. Most ministries experience a shortfall in giving during the summer months. Bible Iin is no exception. If you can help shore up our giving and make sure that Bibleline is taken care of, that would be really greatly appreciated. I want to thank in advance those of you that will give for this month of July. You can do it by credit card over the phone. Just call our 800 number.

Operators are standing by that can take your gift or you can ask for an envelope to be sent to you with our address on it and then you can mail a gift in to Bibleline. Well, we’re going to go ahead and go to the callers and some of the offer questions. The phone number is 1-800-576-3771. 1-800-576-3771. We have Murray in Fort Lauderdale asking me to explain James chapter 5 into the chapter. I believe we just did earlier when Benjamin called in from Clearwater, so I hope that answered it for you.

James is talking to believers throughout the book. And sometimes believers go astray and there it talks about if we can get a person to get back on track, it talks about converting a believer. Conversion usually is always talking about the Christian life, not about salvation. We mentioned that on the radio a week or so ago where Peter wasn’t converted until after the resurrection. So he was saved and he was an apostle, but he really didn’t get converted. You know, Luke 22, 32, read it for yourself.

Jesus prayed for Peter on the night of the betrayal and said, Peter, I pray for thee that thy faith fail not. And when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren. So Peter was not converted. He was a coward, and out of the betrayal, he’d be trying to cry three times before the cock crew in the morning. And we know that they were just afraid, and they hid, and they were in a locked room on the resurrection when Christ came through the door or through the wall and appeared at them and showed him his hands and his feet.

Well, it wasn’t until Pentecost, fifty days after the resurrection that Peter became the bull spokesman that he was instead of for the Lord. So Mary, thanks for listening down there in Fort Lauderdale. I hope that did catch it for you. If it didn’t, call back and we’ll be glad to try to take another stab at what you’re asking for. This is now a caller from Palm Harbor. We have Lynn on the line. Lynn, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air.

Hi. How you doing? Good. Good. Good. This question may be a little out there, but I have some friends of mine that believe that if extraterrestrials exist and that disproves that God exists, I don’t feel that way what you’re feeling is best. Well, of course my God is the creator of everything in the universe. Exactly. But I personally don’t believe in extraterrestrials except for angels they are. And of course the seraphim and the cherubim which are specially created creatures that God has made.

And also of course God himself. And we’ve had visits to the planet because Jesus has visited He’s God and the Creator Himself came and spent 33 years on this planet 2000 years ago and it seems like most people missed it. Incredible. So yeah, I guess you could say that Christ is an extraterrestrial being. He came from heaven. I never thought of it that way. Yeah. So He came to earth. introduce these people to a real live extraterrestrial that has been here and died on the cross the picture they’re sitting so they can have eternal life.

Absolutely I will do that. Thank you so much. You’re welcome and thank you Lynn calling in from Palm Harbor. The phone number again here is 1-800-576-3771. We have Donna. In Puerto Rico, she says she misses us here. She is my secretary and is down in Puerto Rico right now. She says, is there a Saint George in the Bible? I don’t know of a Saint George, but any believer in Jesus Christ is a saint. You see the verb form is sanctified the noun form is Saint and so anyone who’s been sanctified by Christ is a saint and in the Bible ordinary people just like you and me that Trusted Jesus Christ a Savior were called saints in Hebrews Chapter 10 and verse 10 it says by the will of God we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

So Jesus Christ died one time on the cross to pay for your sin and mind. And when you trust Him to save you, you become sanctified by the offering of the body of Jesus Christ one time for every person on the planet. He died only once to pay for all of our sins. And if you have been sanctified, which happens when you trust Christ, then you are a saint. Isn’t that amazing? So there obviously if there was anybody living at that time named George and he was a believer in Christ He would be a saint, but I don’t know of any place in the Bible where somebody actually has that name But everybody that has trusted Christ is a saint We don’t have to go through some elective process as some churches teach to become a saint We are saints instantly upon faith in Christ the

Corinthians believers in the first written is one, one and two are addressed as saints. If you read about those people, they weren’t all living for Christ. In fact, there was a lot of problems with the Christians in Corinth, and the Bible, of course, is written in the letters to the Corinthians to correct those problems. But yet they were called saints because of what Christ did for them. We’re not saved by what we do for God. say about what God did for us in Christ and by his death on the cross of Calorie.

Lori in St. Petersburg calls in and she says, is it possible that aliens people claim to see are actually angels or demons? And that’s a great possibility, Lori. And I think you’ve hit on something certainly that could be the case. And I think as we approach the Lord’s return that we might see more demonic manifestations in the way of unidentified sightings in our atmosphere as Satan himself is the prince of the power of the air he controls the atmosphere around our earth.

We have Cynthia in Clearwater Florida. She says, please explain Matthew 1818. And it says here, whatsoever Christ said, very I said to you, what’s wherever you shall by and on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatsoever you shall lose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” And this is of course talking about the body of Christ and the local church I believe is in view. And chapter 16, Matthew of Matthew, Christ introduces the fact that the church was going to be built after his rejection.

The Church is a living organism comprised of all that we believe on Christ from Pentecost till the Rapture, but that in the Church leadership can make decrees that are binding in heaven. Now obviously nothing can be bound that is contrary to Scripture. So obviously that cannot be true. But let’s say in a Church that the leadership of the Church, the pastor and elders are ruling body of leaders determines that a certain curriculum should be taught in the Sunday school.

Well then for every Sunday school teacher it is God’s will for them to teach that curriculum. Now if the teacher says well there’s some error in this literature and I don’t believe we ought to be teaching this. Well they can appeal and the leadership can recognize that and then change their mind about whether that literature should be taught or whatever. But obviously it’s God’s will for them to follow the leadership and to teach those lessons if that’s what the leadership is determined.

Your option is of course you could find another church. Otherwise you’re obligated. Let’s say you’re in the choir in a church and say the choir is going to be singing the old record cross on Sunday morning. And all of a sudden you get the idea, well you’d like to sing something different. Maybe you’d like to sing the National Anthem. And so on Sunday morning while the choir is singing under the choir leaders direction, the old record cross, you start singing, oh say can you see, well obviously you’re going to disrupt the whole choir and you’re going to be out of God’s will because you are obviously to follow the leadership.

and that leadership is part of a chain of command. The Bible, of course, directs us from God through men, through leaders, and obviously you are to follow that leadership. So definitely. But again, if there’s a flaw somewhere and maybe they were seeing something that was not the words were unscriptural or something was wrong, they could appeal. and then the leadership could say, you’re right, we were wrong, we need to change that. So thank you Cynthia for that good question and I believe that’s what it’s talking about.

So when they make a decision like that, church leadership, then that’s binding upon those that are members of that church. Again, sometimes the leadership might have false doctrine and you would not be able to teach that false doctrine, you would feel convicted of the Lord. Well, then you’re probably going to have to find another church unless the leadership could be convinced of their error. But we’re living in a time now when many churches are not careful. And one of the responsibilities of the elders of the church is to guard spiritual purity.

If you read Titus 1, when it talks about the elders of the churches and what was required of them. It says that they would guard the sound doctrine of the church. So they wouldn’t allow false teachings to come into the church and for the church to be misled spiritually. So spiritual oversight is one of the major roles of the pastor and of the church elders. Thank you for that call and we are going to move to our next caller.

I’m Dr. Englinstrom. This is Bible I. The phone number here is 1-800-576-3771. We’re so excited about the new class. We’ll be teaching July 17th for six weeks from 7 to 9 p.m. and that’ll be on the Gospel of John. Twelve hours of teaching. That’ll be available on CD once we get the class completed. Also probably available on DVD. But in the meantime, you can either come and sign up and be a member of that class a week from tomorrow, or you can call in and sign up to take it over the internet.

And that way we can really teach these classes worldwide. And there is a gift that we are asking for to take the class that will help Bibleline. We’re asking for five dollars a class. You can’t just buy one class, but for $60 you can take the whole course on the Gospel of John. Verse by verse. It will be exciting and I hope that you’ll join us for that class. We have Aaron in Dade City calling in. This is the offer of question.

Is all scripture God breathed like 2 Timothy 3 16 says? Since not all scriptures were written by the time 2 Timothy was written, does that mean scripture written after that is not God breathed. The answer is no. All scripture and obviously things that were written later were certainly considered scripture and even call scripture after Paul wrote the letter to Timothy. But you’ll have to remember that second Timothy where you find that was one of the, well, it was the final letter that Paul wrote just before he was executed.

So Paul’s life had come to an end here, to closure. And if you He is going to chapter 4 of 2nd Timothy and he tells about how the time of his departure was at hand. He apparently heard about the time of his execution and he spoke about it. Isn’t it amazing that Christians can do this as a departure? Because death for the Christian is really to be absent in the body present with the Lord and Paul talks in chapter 4 of 2nd Timothy and he would be departing soon to go to heaven to his eternal home.

know that’s what heaven is. That’s my home. Here on this earth I’m just a stranger passing through. I love that old hymn. This world is not my home. I’m just a passing through. My treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the blue. How true that is. And so we’re just pilgrims and strangers here on this earth working our way through this world trying to lead as many people to Christ as we can. And because everybody on the planet is going to perish.

And everybody in the earth itself is going to perish. It will be destroyed by fire one day. It’s amazing to me in what gave me a lot of perspective as a young believer as I heard somebody say, God did not leave us here on this earth to make it a better place to go to hell from. Let me say that again.ymm did not leave us Christians here on this earth to make this earth a better place to go to hell from.

He left us here to save as many as possible so that when they would die they would be in heaven with the Lord forever and ever and ever. Our major objective is not to change the world. It’s to rescue people on this earth that are perishing and make sure that they are going to go to heaven. We have Ernest in St. Petersburg calling in. Ernest, welcome to Bible Enyaer on the Earth. Hello, Pastor, I’m Tony Don. Good morning, good to hear you.

This is Ernest Conant from St. Petersburg. I’ve been sharing with even family members and certain other members that I’ve known for years that there’s no such thing. You know, repentance is really called nothing to waste. And I explained to them that, you know, perpetual sin and continual sin is something that God does not forgive me. Oh, yes, God will forgive no matter what. As a matter of what, if I can change your mind, I have to turn away from what you’ve been doing.

And that’s come back to me. Now I’m not checking you. Well, let me clarify, because when you get saved, there’s a one-time memory pendants that occurs where you change your mind, maybe about Christ or about how a person is saved. And the Bible tells us in Hebrews, chapter 6, for example, that repentance, that foundation, where you trust Christ, you see when you trust Christ, you do change your mind from whatever you are previously trusting in Christ, you become saved eternally.

That cannot be repeated. And it says in verse 4 through 6, even if you got away or fell away from serving the Lord, it is impossible for you to go back and be renewed under that repentance where by you were saved when you did trust Christ as your Savior. So it cannot be repeated. And if you tried to, you would be crucifying Christ all over again to yourself and putting Him to an open shame. His one time death saves you forever.

But then in the Christian life, if you continue to sin, then you are running the risk of God taking you home to heaven. If you sin and don’t deal with it, then God will judge you. And it says in 1st Corinthians 11, 31 and 32, it says, for this cause many of the Christians The God took him home to have an early. But it says in verse 31, if we would judge ourselves for screen days 11, then we should not be judged.

In other words, if we would take care of business and make sure our lives are in order, then God would not have to chase in us. But verse 32 is the grand final verse there where it says, but when we are judged as Christians, we are chastened of the Lord and that we should not be condemned with the world. to help and we’ll never be in that category. We are going to be chasing nor disciplined as a family member and never go to hell.

So hopefully that answers that question certainly. We are not the leaders we please but even if we did we’d still go to heaven but you might get there sooner than you plan on it or we might take you home to heaven. We have Vincent and he is in Sarasota, Florida and apparently today he’s listening on the internet. Welcome Vincent. The reason I’m calling is I’m wondering if the ascension that then Luke 2449 is the same incident that Luke also talks about and the ascension in Acts 1 9.

Is that the same? Only one ascension, yes. So when Christ is taking them to heaven, it’s the same as over next. Okay. Pastor, I don’t know why a friend asked me what was going on because he thought some discontinuity between those two, but it sure looks like they’re the same ascension that’s why I call. And you remember me because we went to Israel with you. I thought I recognized your voice. Yeah, what a great trip. Anyway, Pastor, you’re written close on time.

So thank you very much. All right. And yeah, that was wonderful to have Vincent and his wife join us back in March. We had a wonderful wonderful trip to Israel and Lord willing will try to do that again next spring Maybe March or April of 2008.
