If you have your Bible, you might want to get it open. We’re going to turn to the book of Romans. Jewish people need to know Christ as their Savior just like Gentiles. The Bible tells us that there is no difference between Jew and Gentile.
In fact, let’s go to Romans 10, where it says in verse 12, there is no difference between the Jew and the Gentile for the same Lord over all. all is rich unto all they call upon him. Every one of us in the human race are lost, according to the Bible, without Christ. There is no difference. Some people try to say that the Jewish people are the chosen people and that they will just get into heaven automatically. That’s not true.
They are chosen for an earthly purpose and that will still be fulfilled. Christ will come back and rule and reign from Jerusalem. He will be king of the Jews and the Jews will be the head nation on the earth and he will be king over all the nations of the earth. So it is an exciting future ahead for the Jews which are chosen for that purpose. But as far as salvation, God only chooses those who trust Christ. Then you have to remember Jesus Christ was a Jew.
You have to remember all the early Christians were Jewish. And you have to remember that they were surprised when Gentiles get saved. And so it’s really kind of turned around today. Today we get surprised that not when Jewish people get saved, but Jewish people just like us Gentiles need to get saved. Look at what it says in chapter 10 of Romans in the earlier parts of the verses. It says, Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they might be saved.
So the Jewish people need to be saved, Paul is saying, and then he says in verse 2, I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. So they are zealous, they are religious, but obviously not according to knowledge. It says in the name of the name of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness have not submitted themselves under the righteousness of God. What’s it saying? Basically most people, including the Jews, are trying to earn their way to heaven by their works and establish their own righteousness.
The Bible tells us clearly in Isaiah 64, 6 that our righteousness is our as filthy rags. So obviously we would never be eligible in our heaven based upon our righteousness. It’s interesting that that verse in Isaiah 64 says all our righteousnesses. It doesn’t say our sins, but our righteous needs are, the Bible says, filthy rags. So the best things that you have to offer God are filthy rags. The righteous acts and deeds that you do are filthy rags. And so obviously you would not be eligible in your heaven.
The Bible is saying here, they’re ignorant of God’s righteousness. You know for the first 18 years of my life, I too was ignorant of that. I thought maybe I could earn my way to heaven. That’s what my church taught me. But I learned later that I had to be as righteous as God did our heaven and I was ignorant of that. And when I discovered that I said then how in the world can I be saved? And obviously the answer is we need a Savior.
And Jesus Christ died so that His righteousness can be imputed to your account and God would consider you righteous so you would be eligible in heaven. Look at verse 4 here of Romans 10 where it says that Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone that believe it. In other words, when you believe or trust Christ as your Savior, then we find that the demands of the law that we be righteous are fulfilled in Christ being the righteousness that we need and His righteousness being credited to our account.
Back in chapter 9 of Romans, it tells us in verse 30, what shall we say then that the Gentiles which followed not after righteousness have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith. But then it says in verse 31, but Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness, verse 32, wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by works. So there’s the answer. Here was what happened.
And the Jewish people drifted away from the teaching of the Bible, and salvation has always been by grace, always been by faith, apart from works. It’s never been a thing where somebody could earn their way to heaven. And yet they went off. He was a Christian and drifted away from the Bible teaching, and began to think they could earn the righteousness they needed to enter heaven. And they were mistaken. But yet here the Gentiles come along, received the gospel and trust Christ the Savior and received the righteousness of God.
And the Jews didn’t because the Jews weren’t seeking it by faith. It says, but as it were by the works of the law or by works they were trying to be safe. Definitely Jewish people need to know Christ’s grace. and Savior. And remember, Peter was a Jew. All the apostles were Jewish. All the early Christians were Jewish. And you can see in what they say that they are pleading for people, Jewish and Gentiles that become saved. Let me go to the book of Acts.
Here we have Peter. And notice what he says here. And I’m sure with a lot of passion because he was concerned about his own people after the flesh, the Jewish people. was a Jew. In Acts chapter 15 Peter makes this wonderful statement in Acts 15 in verse 11. He says, We believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved even as they. Now in the context he’s talking about we the Jews will be saved even as they the Gentiles will be saved and how?
We believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved even as they. The issue here in Acts 15 came up that maybe you had to be circumcised or keep the law to be saved. And Peter says absolutely not. He says here in verse 9 that God put no difference between us, the Jews and them, the Gentiles purifying their hearts by faith. Now why in the world would you try to get people to keep the law to be saved when nobody has ever been able to keep the law?
He says in verse 10, now therefore why tempt you God to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples which neither are fathers nor we are able to bear? Talking about all their Jewish ancestry, how none of them were able to keep the law. That it was impossible for men to keep it. Yet the demands of the law were valid because you have to be as righteous as the law demands to go to heaven, but we’re not. That’s why Christ died.
And when you trust Christ, by grace the Bible says you’re saved through faith. And verse 11 says we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, we shall be saved just like the Gentiles are. So Jews and Gentiles alike are saved the same way. When Peter tells us salvation is not in the law, it’s not in our works, it’s not in confirmation baptism or anything that we do, it’s in Christ. And in Acts 4, 12, he gives us one of the most remarkable verses.
He says, neither is there salvation in any other, for there’s none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved. And that’s something Peter said, there’s no other name, there’s no other Savior, there’s There’s no other way to go to heaven. Jesus is that way. If you read the book of Acts, it says many times that the plan of salvation is called the way. It was Christ being the way. When they talked about the way to heaven, they were talking about Christ.
When you trusted Him, you’d be saved. I’m so glad I found this out. I was raised in church. Never knew how to be saved until I finally attended a Bible study with my sister. when I was eighteen. And then I heard this wonderful message that eternal life was a gift. It was paid for. It was not by works. If I would simply receive Christ, I would receive that eternal life. I’m Dr. Hank Vince-Rumin. This is by one. We’re going to go ahead and go to the phone lines.
If you want to call in, the number is 1-800-576-3771. 1-800-576-3771. I’m going to begin with a couple of all fair questions we have here. We’ll go to Edwin Clark of St. Petersburg. He said his wife went to heaven last year after 60 years of marriage. What is her physical makeup in heaven now? Do you think she can think about me or does she think about me? Okay. Well Edwin, that’s a great question. And of course, if she was a believer, then indeed she is in heaven.
Second Corinthians 5, 8 says, absent from the body, present with the Lord. So immediately upon death, we leave this body behind and we’re immediately present with the Lord. Second Corinthians 5, 8. But right now, she does not have her new body yet. We all have to wait until the return of Christ at the event called the Rapture, and it’s then that we’ll all receive our brand new bodies. And so right now, she is there. I’m sure that she has conscious memory.
But she doesn’t know what’s happening down here on the earth because I think they’re shielded from that But if you’re a believer Eben you’ll join her and she’s obviously there I’m sure waiting anxiously for you to join her so thank you for that call We appreciate that we now have Bill in Tampa on the line Bill. Welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air Hello, hello. You’re on the air Hi, my name is Bill. I had a question I believe in Jesus.
I totally don’t believe in him. I would give him for him at any time. I know it’s part of how easy to say, but I would. But sometimes, you know, how you get that, the flesh side of you, you just tell, you know, you made mistakes in your life, and then you cut the doubt yourself. But I trust in him that I will be saying, because I believe that he’s my Lord and Savior, that he died on the cross for me, and I accept him as my personal Savior.
Is it natural for someone who, like, constantly doubt himself? Because I know Paul said his spirit was willing and his pleasure is weak. Is it natural for someone to do that thin film? Well, absolutely doubts are not natural, but to stay in your doubts, you don’t have to. If you go back to the Word and just be reminded of what God said, one of the verses that I love and I read so many times as a young believer was 1 John 5, 13.
And I believe if If you want to read it every day, that would be great. It says these things, if I’ve written unto you, that believe on the name of the Son of God, that you may know K-N-O-W, not hope for guests or perhaps or maybe, but you could actually know that you, H-A-V-E, present tense possess right now eternal life. And so God put it in writing, I call it the written guarantee verse. So whenever you have doubts, you can go right to that verse and say, I know I have eternal life because God said so.
And where did he say so? He said so right there in 1 John 513. So don’t stay in your doubts. You can stay there and be doubtful. But just go right back to the Bible. And you’ll find out that there are dozens and dozens of verses that will give you assurance. If you call in or go to my website and I have several articles about eternal security, lasting life, those kinds of titles and I give you tons of verses that will give you great verses of assurance.
We have Mark in Bradenton, Florida, he calls in with this offer question, he says, what is right or wrong with the NIV Bible? Your opinion. Well the NIV Bible is terrible. First of all it drops 44 verses in their We have an NIV quiz here that we can send you if you call in and we’ll be glad to mail it to you. But if you try to take that quiz using the NIV is the answer book, you’ll get a zero because all the questions are taken from the 44 verses that are missing from your Bible.
One of them is Acts 837. If you have an NIV, turn to Acts 8. You’ll find verse 36. You’ll find verse 38. But what happened to verse 37? It’s gone. is gone. It’s the key verse in the chapter. Here you have the Ethiopian eunuch. He gets saved and he asks if he can be baptized. And the one verse that really makes it plain, why or how or on what condition you can be water baptized is right there in adverse.
It says if you believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, you may. And so the eunuch than was baptized, but his confession of faith in Christ is right there and it’s missing. Not only that, it seems like the NIV is almost a copy of the Jehovah’s Witness Bible. They call their Bible the New World Translation. The NIV title is just about the same, New and New, New International Version. So they have New, instead of World they have International.
So that’s about the same. And then you have translation as the title of the Jehovah’s Witness Bible, but then the NIV is called a version. So the title is even the same. But there are many, many, many more problems with the NIV than that. In fact, it is an attempt on the part of the translating committee to get rid of health. You know, R. Leonard Harris, who is the head of the editorial committee for the NIV, says plainly, and I can show you his quotes, where he said that, that hell is nothing more than to return to the dust of the earth to return to the grave.
Nothing more. Obviously, the Bible teaches there is a literal hell where Jesus said in Mark chapter 9 three times in verse 42, 44, and 46, he says, the soul will never die in hell and the fire will never be quenched. And that’s kind of scary, isn’t it? Boy, I didn’t make this up. I’m just proclaiming what the Bible teaches, but hell is real. And the NIV tries to go soft on hell that there is no hell. And many, many other problems.
I wouldn’t recommend it at all. We have a great book in our resource center here called New Age Bible Versions, and it will show you exactly what we’re talking about. We also have some sheets that will outline some of the major problems so that you can see it for yourself. You can call in and we’ll be glad to send them to you free of charge. but also you can go on the internet and catch some of that on my website, BibleLineMinistries.org.
Go to Dr. Lindstrom’s articles and you can use the search engine and find what you’re looking for. We have Betty down in Hollywood, Florida. Betty, welcome to Bibleline. You’re on the air. Yes, good morning, Brother Lindstrom. I heard you say in your opening monologue that Israel was chosen for an earthly purpose. I just would like a larger and deeper explanation. I don’t fully understand. In other words, I understood that they were chosen to record the oracles of God and that also, of course, the Messiah would come through that line physically.
Am I incorrect or I just don’t? No, you’re absolutely correct. I didn’t say everything that included. Back in Genesis chapter 12, we have an outline there that the Messiah would come through Israel and also Israel would be a testimony to God’s faithfulness to keep His promises. God made many prophecies about Israel and our future and He’s kept all His promises thus far and there are promises yet to be kept that have been made with Israel and they’ll be fulfilled we believe at the Second Coming.
And so if you were to ask me in one word why do I believe the Bible is the Word of God, I’d have to say Israel because you can look back and see how God has prophesied their future over thousands of years and literally it has been fulfilled to the letter. It’s amazing how God had predicted that when the Messiah would come the first time the Jewish nation would reject Him and be scattered worldwide for 2,000 years and then at the end of that 2,000 years it would return to their land and become a nation again.
Here we are living at the other end seeing that part of it fulfilled. Jeremiah 30 for example, God says, I will cause my people Israel and Judah, say of the Lord, to return to the land that I gave to their fathers and they shall, not maybe perhaps or might, but they shall possess it. And here we see the Jewish people back today in the land God had given to their fathers. And that’s an amazing prophecy fulfilled. It involves millions of people over thousands of years.
So yeah, it’s much broader than just the simple statement I gave. But, you know, in answering a question, I can’t give a full course on this. And so on. In what way, additionally, they’re going to be fulfilling a prophecy when they’re in the land. I understand also one of the promises God made in Genesis 12, 3, is though the step blesses will be blessed. And the same conversely, those who curse Israel will be cursed. And as a matter of fact, it’s the same type of curses.
So I’m in a hundred percent agreement with your brother Lindstrom, but I was just, and I understand that part, but I just don’t understand what additionally will be a very fulfilling calling of God when they’re in the land. Well you know what happens is that the nation finally will respond and come to know the Lord for the most part. There will be a purification during the tribulation period after the Rapture. Two-thirds of the Jewish people in Israel will die.
There’s going to be another Holocaust that will be far worse than what Hitler did. 9 tenths of the Jews around the world will be killed, but there will be this remnant of millions of Jews that will receive Christ as their Savior. And then… At that point Christ will come back at the end of the seven years after the rapture had occurred seven years later Christ will come back. And the Bible said in Matthew 23 when Christ left being rejected 2000 years ago, he said, blessed is he, but cometh in the name of the Lord.
When you say that you’ll be able to see me come back. And obviously that really means blessed or happy is the one that comes to God the Father in the name of Yeshua. which in English is Jesus. So when they come to recognize Jesus is Yeshua or he is the Messiah, the Savior, God who came and took on human flesh to pay for their sin, Christ will then return and be their king and they will be his people. And God of course will care for them and the whole earth will be at peace.
It’s going to be a marvelous time. But the Jewish people obviously have been his witnesses down through time. Even at the story in John 4 in Jacob’s Well, you have the woman there admitting that salvation was really through the Jewish people, the Jewish nation. And it’s only the Jewish people that have had prophets. And they are the ones that are the writers of the Old Testament and also the apostles brought us the New Testament. They were all Jewish. We are out of time for this half hour, but we’re going to come back and do a second half hour.
Again, if you haven’t helped Bibleline, you know, during the summer, that’s the lean months and that’s when most ministries suffer a loss in giving. Could you help us? If you’ll call, you could give a gift by credit card over the phone that would certainly help us to get through the summer and back online for the fall. Got a run, but we’ll be back for a second half hour. So keep your radio right there and don’t change that now. Don’t go away.
Bibleline will be back in a moment. Give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Dr. Hankeland’s treatment is great to be with you. Thanks again for tuning in to the Bibleline program. We’re excited about a new class. I’m going to be teaching here July 17th. You can take that class from anywhere in the United States or anywhere in the world because it’s going to be offered up on the internet. So we’ll be live here in Tampa every Tuesday night beginning a week from today on July 17th and two hours every Tuesday night we’ll be studying but guess what if you take it on the internet you can go at your leisure and watch it anytime you want to.
So that means you can take the class in the middle of the night or early in the morning or during your lunch or whenever you feel like going to the computer you can go and catch the classes in archive but you can also actually watch it live as we talk about the gospel john here and that’s going to be a marvelous study it really is john is one of the great gospels it’s called oftentimes god’s gospel track and uh…
i know you’ll really benefit if you don’t want to do it that way you can wait till it’s over and then order the cds it’ll be twelve hours we’re asking a gift of sixty dollars five dollars per class hour to help buy the line and that’s whether you take it here live in person sitting in the classroom or whether you take it on the internet. Would you want to call in and advance and sign up? You’ve got a week now to get that taken care of and we’ll give you a passcode and you can watch it on the internet or you can come and be here in person.
I think it’d be great if you’re in driving business to come and get it in person because there’s something special about actually being in the classroom when the class is being delivered. Another way if you’re in South Florida, we are on television every Tuesday night. I think it’s 8 or 8.30 and we’re on Channel 13 on cable throttle all of South Florida. We come really out of Channel 62 out of West Palm Beach on television tonight. So for you people in South Florida, you’ll be able to catch our TV program this evening.
Thursdays are general television day and on direct TV we’re nationwide. Thursday at 6.30 you might want to make a note of that. Again, summer is the lean time of the year when many ministries suffer a loss in their giving and if you’d like to help my blindness it would be a great time for you to come to our rescue. So you can give a gift by credit card, you can also call and have an humble tentee with our dress and mail a gift into my blind.
In any case, would you pray for us and would you also I’d help us out here for these summer months. We sure would appreciate it. I want to thank you in advance for your prayers and for your gifts to Bible and make it possible. We’re now going to join the stations that have been on break into the second half hour. So keep your radio dial tuned right where it is for Bible and Part 2. Would you like to call Bibleline and ask Dr.
Lindstrom a question? You can. Just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Now here again is Dr. Hank Lindstrom. Alright we’re back from the break and this is Bibleline and it’s exciting to be with you every day Monday through Friday and we hope that you’re going to be listening all week long. The nice thing is that we’re on the internet and you can catch these programs later, hear them again, or a fellow called me yesterday afternoon. He said, I heard bits and parts out of that new station you mentioned up there out of Jacksonville.
He was driving, I guess down I-75 was in Lake City at the time, and then he said he lost the program as he got further out of that area. But he was going to go back and hear the complete program on the internet last night. I’m sure he must have done that. You can do that. BibleLineMinistries.org.com and if you click on the spinning globe you’ll be connected to our radio page and you can hear the program right now live.
And by the way, after the program is over it takes sometimes several hours before the program is put up there. So you’ll probably hear yesterday’s program till maybe 2, 3, 4 o’clock in the afternoon. And then you can hear today’s program again, but you can hear it live right now. Also, we want you to know that you can watch our worship services. That’s right. We have a lot of them in archive. When you click on the camera, you’ll come up with a blank screen in the middle and that will remain blank until Sunday morning when I actually go live with the worship service.
But if you want to watch past sermons, go to your left side of the screen, click on the archive button and you’ll see there about four months worth of Sunday messages and you can sit and listen and watch those. We hope you’ll do that. Also our Sunday sermons are available. You can subscribe and get all the Sunday messages sent to your home on CD for $30 a month. We have a lot of folks that do that from all over the country.
And also by My special order, if you want to get the morning message on DVD, we only charge $10 for that. This past Sunday’s sermon was 55 minutes long, so you’re getting a full hour DVD. If you want to get it in DVD, which is audio and video, or CD for $5, but DVD for $10, or you can subscribe to the whole month and get the CDs sent to you at the end of the month. We hope you’ll take advantage of that.
a new class I’m excited will be doing the Gospel of John a week from tonight. If you’re in driving distance you can come sign up and sit in the classroom with me. And for six weeks, two hours every night, every Tuesday night from seven to nine will be studying the Gospel of John. That also can be watched or taken over the internet anywhere on the planet earth, anywhere in the United States, anywhere you live. You’ll be able to take the class on the Gospel of John.
If you call in and register and it’s going to cost a gift of $60 to Bibleline, you’ll be able to do it on the internet or you’re welcome to come and be there in our classroom and enjoy it. Well in any case, we are looking forward to that class and I hope you are as well. If you’re in South Florida, we’re on television every Tuesday night in South Florida and we come out of West Palm Beach on Channel 62.
I believe it’s on cable on Channel 13 throughout all of South Florida and you can just kind of flow through the channels. I think it’s 8 o’ o’clock or 8 30. I didn’t check the time but we hope that you’ll check out our TV program and of course this Sunday by the way is our third Sunday. What does that mean? We have a dinner and you’re welcome to come and be my guest. Some people that live a distance, make it a day.
You might even come and spend the night in a hotel nearby and then join me for my 915 adult study and then join me for my 1030 worship service and then stay for the wonderful lunch of me, my guest. We always have some of the best home cooked food in all the world and we’d love to have you come this third Sunday. That’s this Sunday and join us. But again, you know, on the internet, you can join the worship service from anywhere on the planet earth.
We’re now going to go to the phone lines of Dr. Hank Lindstrom and we’re going to go to John in Clearwater. John, welcome to Bibleline you’re on there. Oh, good morning, Pastor. I have a question in relation to, are you familiar with a couple of ministers that told me about in relation to the Jewish people being the chosen people? The Jewish people, not unless they changed or think and they had to do with Jesus Christ like us being on earth or something.
You know I even forgot what the point was but the major thing. He showed me in the King James version that if you don’t believe this that you’re not going to go to heaven and he was insinuating that. Notice the Jewish people changed their way of thinking that they’re not going to enter the gates of heaven and I was like shocked. I mean, all these millions of people that are so dedicated and like in Israel, you know, and they’re kissing the wall there, the sacred wall and things that are so dedicated that they’re not going to heaven.
And that was kind of my question that you’re following me there. And I forgot exactly what I think it had to do with the Jesus coming down on earth and going back up. They didn’t believe that or something. the Jewish people for the most part have rejected that Christ is their Messiah, is their Savior, that He is Yeshua, the one that prophets book about that would be their salvation. And unless they accept Christ as their Savior, they will not be saved.
And that, of course, is something that should strike a note in our hearts. My heart goes out to Israel. not Israel, I try to win every Jewish person I can to Christ. But percentage-wise though, I really think there are probably more Jewish people that know Christ as their Savior than there are Gentiles. I have a number of Jewish people in my congregation that have trusted Christ as their Savior, as their Messiah, and they are saved. I think that down through time that has always been true.
When you think about the Jewish population worldwide, there’s only about 30 million on the whole planet. And that leaves out of the 6 billion on the planet 5,970 million Gentiles. Now ask yourself how many Gentiles have accepted Christ as Savior. I think really percentage wise, you probably have more Jewish believers than you do Gentile believers when you look at it in that perspective. Because if you were to take my church as an example, wow, we’d have, if we had as many Gentiles saved, we’d have a big huge number Gentiles saved as well as if that were true across the board.
We’d have a lot of Jewish people right now that would know Christ as their Savior. But we definitely need to tell them Christ remembers said in John 14, 6, I am the way, the truth and the life, and no man cometh unto the Father but by me.” Write that one down, John 14-6. Then also, Hebrews, rather, Acts chapter 4 verse 12, Peter writing there says, neither is their salvation in any other, for there is none other name under heaven.
Give it among men whereby we must be saved. So Peter made it very clear, Christ made it very clear, and we could point to many, many verses, but there is only one Savior, and they must find Him. And you know, the wonderful thing is that if a person really is sincere, they will find Him. It says in Jeremiah 29, 13, and you shall seek me and find me when you shall search me with all your heart. So a person who is seeking will find the truth, and they will hear the gospel message and be able to respond to it and become saved.
My heart goes out like Paul’s heart went out to the Jewish people. They need to know Christ. Without Christ they’re lost. I’m missing something here. If Jesus was born as a Jewish person, why would there be a glitch in the belief there? I’m missing. I can’t comprehend that. Well, apparently they missed it because they were looking for the the Savior that would deliver them from Rome and be a political Savior. And they failed to believe metic the promises that he would in his first coming suffer and die and simply were looking for that second coming.
And that’s the problem that Jewish people have to this very hour. They were looking for this powerful leader, a leader like Moses. The Bible said that the Messiah would be like Moses and be a deliverer as Moses led them out of Egypt. And so the Jewish people haven’t seen that fellow yet, they say. And so they, just when Christ was taken to wonder the cross and died, that was just too much. They said he can’t be the Messiah. But yet the Bible said in the Old Testament that he would die.
And so that’s the problem. And when you’re witnessing the Jewish people, you have to point out, hey, there’s two comings of the Messiah predicted in the Old Testament. And he came first as a suffering Messiah. Then he would come back a second time as a king and rule over this earth and bring peace on the earth. One last thought, that the Jewish people believe in God, they just don’t believe in Jesus Christ. That’s exactly right. Oh, okay. Okay. All right.
I got you. Okay. Okay, John. Thank you for your call. We appreciate that very very much. And you’re welcome to call in here at Bible and 1-800-576-3771. We have lots of nice notes that come in here in letters. And I really have to get my pile out someday and read some to you. But I just got an email just now. Now thank you Pastor Hank for being on the radio every day to help me understand the Word of God.
I have been to so many churches and they all seem to have some rules to follow in order to be saved. But through your teaching I have come to see I only need to believe and trust in Jesus Christ which I do. Thank you for the clear Word of God you teach. Keep going. I pray for you, Patty. Well, Patty, thank you very much for that word of encouragement. And we have many. Here’s another one that just came in from Virginia.
We had to leave our local churches because they were embracing lordship salvation. That is where you have to embrace Christ as your Lord and serve Christ in addition to faith in Christ to be saved. That certainly is not the gospel. I point out often there are two decisions that we’re faced with. One is to be saved by simply trusting Christ. The other is to become a disciple of Christ, which is where we serve Him. And our service doesn’t save us, nor does it have anything to do with our salvation, but it’s the way that we are able to earn rewards and blessings while we’re serving here.
Anyway, thank you so much for calling, for writing this nice note. Debbie up in Richmond, and we’ll try to send an email back and it deals a question about where they might find a good church and I know that’s a difficult thing today. We’re now going to go to Kevin in Largo, Florida and Kevin, welcome to the Bible on. Thank you, Dr. Lestren. I have a question in regards to early on in Genesis with Adam and Eve and they’ve got Cain and Abel and Cain killed Abel and then one guy told him said, you know, worship brothers, blood cries out from the ground and he drove him out.
He said anybody that hurts him is going to receive, I think it was maybe seven times the punishment. I’m trying to figure out how there would already be populations. Sure, very good. Well, when you read chapter 4 verse 14, Cain really was worried there when God vanished him and he said, everyone that finds the financials slay me. And you have to remember the murder didn’t take place when there were two kids out back playing in the sandbox. The murder probably occurred when Cain and Abel both were 125 years old.
And we know that part of the curse was a pain in childbearing and he says I’ll multiply the Iberth. So I believe that there were multiple verses. I believe Cain and Abel were twins. So with twins and triplets and if you go 125 years, some have calculated that the Earth’s population could have been around 100,000 people at the time of the murder. And so that’s really what’s taking place there and there were probably a lot of people around up there at a time.
So I think in our minds that I had it in my mind too that they were just children when the murder occurred but they’d been around for 125 years when it occurred. Okay, I didn’t catch part where they were approximately 125 years, so I must have not cut that part, but I can see the multiplication. Okay, will that help me clear that up? Well good, Kevin, and keep listening. And also it says in chapter 5 of Genesis that they had sons and daughters Adam and and Adam and Eve lived a total of 900 or at least Adam lived 930 years.
Can you imagine? If Adam continued to produce for hundreds and hundreds of years and their children all produced because the length of life was also increased during that time. There was a lot of people on the earth as a result. We now have Adam in Tampa, Florida called in just now and Adam welcomed him by Boneyard near. yeah my question I believe they will, but not as far as our eternity is concerned, our salvation is secure and settled based upon what Christ did for us at the cross.
As far as salvation, our sins are forgotten. They’re removed as far as the east is from the west. They’ll never be remembered. But if you read 2 Corinthians 5, 10, it says we must all appear as believers before the judgment seat of Christ that everyone may receive the things done in his body. according to that which you have done, whether it be good or bad. The Bible tells us that we ought to have that make us a little bit nervous so that we are living faithfully for Christ until then.
So yes, indeed, I think they will come up, but only to affect our degree of reward in heaven. But in this present life, our sins also will affect whether God blesses us and rewards us here, and also whether he will chase us or spank us here. And so definitely we don’t have a license to live as we please, but we are eternally saved from the moment we trust Christ. Well, thank you very much, Adam. I hope that answered your question there, and we’ll go on to our next caller.
We have Robert in Tampa, Florida, leaving an all-fair question, and he says, what scripture support Peter going to heaven and returning to earth? Well, I don’t have any verse that supports Peter going to heaven and returning to earth. Peter died, we believe, by crucifixion. In the last chapter of John’s Gospel, Christ let Peter know what kind of death he would die, his hands being outstretched, which we believe is Christ’s fiction. And tradition tells us that Peter didn’t deserve, he said, to be crucified like Christ, so they crucified him upside down.
I don’t know if that’s true, but that’s what tradition tells us. I only go by what the Scriptures teach as being authoritative. But there is no verse in the Bible that says Peter went to heaven and came back. Okay, so I hope that helps a little bit. Also, Robert says, what about scriptures supporting the types of physical bodies we have in heaven? Well, if you go to 1 Corinthians 15, it talks about each of us will have a body like Christ’s resurrection body, which probably means it will be in the prime of life.
Christ was 33 years of age when he died, so I believe our bodies will be in appearance 33 years of age. believe that they will be able to move about without restriction. Jesus, for example, went right through a locked door, either through the door or through the wall, into the room where the disciples were on the day of the resurrection. And I think we’ll be able to do similar things. Christ also could depart from here in your to heaven.
I think we’ll be able to travel without a spaceship and we’ll have lots of advantages, but also your body will be recognizable. Christ had a body recognizable in his resurrection body and I think you’ll be recognized as well. So there’ll be certain features that you’ll carry with you from this body, but I think you’ll be perfectly satisfied with your resurrection body which will be a perfect body. Robert, I hope that helps. And again, Peter didn’t go anywhere as far as coming back to the earth.
He went with the Lord. All right, we have Anonymous in Tampa, Florida. And Anonymous says regarding the loss of reward, in heaven does a person lose all rewards if he did not completely follow God or only the ones that he could have had if he had followed the Lord. Well, good question Anonymous, But I believe it’s you can lose the potential for what the Bible considers a full reward. In other words, everybody, I think, can earn the same amount of rewards as everyone else.
But if you don’t live for the Lord, you might come way short of that. Also, I think, especially in 2 John, it’s clear, it says, look to yourselves in 2 John verse 8, that you lose not those things which you’ve brought or worked for as a Christian, but that you might receive a full reward. And of course, then he goes on to talk about how we interact with those who have a false message. And he says, if we bid them God’s speed or endorse them or support them or give to them, Then it says that we will be partaker of their evil deeds.
That means it will… So let’s say it’s just in the area of giving. If you give to a ministry that’s scripturally correct and is doing something for God that is God is blessing, you’ll be rewarded fully. But if you’re giving to a ministry that has a false message, then you will not get rewarded for that, but you’ll be even held accountable because you have been a partaker of their evil deeds. evil deeds by being a part of it or endorsing it or supporting it or giving to it.
So you don’t want to give wrongly or you lose out. You really want to give smartly. Somebody said, you ought to do your giving while you’re living so you’re knowing where it’s going and how true that is. Alright we love to have you call in here. The phone number here at Bible and 1-800-576-3771. This Sunday coming up is our third Sunday. We’re having a dinner. And you can watch it then, of course, at your leisure because you don’t have to watch it live, although you can. You can watch it whenever it’s convenient for you. And I hope you’ll take advantage and do that. We now have Benjamin in Clearwater Florida. And Benjamin, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Good morning, Dr. Hank. Can you explain to me Ezekiel 33, 8, and 9, please? Well, I’ll give it a good try. Ezekiel 33, 8, and 9.
Verse 8 and 9. I’m on my way right now. OK, thank you. Ezekiel 38, 33, 8, and 9. I will write him almost there. I now have chapter 33 in front of me. And verse 89 says, when I say unto the wicked, a wicked man thou shalt surely die. If thou dost not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity, but his blood will I require at your hand. Well what is talking about here is the unsaved.
The wicked in the Bible are the unbelievers. And they might be very religious, they might be very moral, they might be your best neighbor in your block. But if they haven’t trusted Christ the Bible describes every unbeliever as wicked because they stand before God in their own righteousness which is wickedness. And here it tells us that we need to warn him and it says, warn the wicked from his way. His way is his plan of salvation. In contrast, Christ is the way, the truth and the life.
So that’s the difference. When you mark his way in the verse, Benjamin, it’s talking about maybe his church that he’s a member of, or maybe he thinks that keeping the commandments will save him, or Or maybe things that prayers and penance and mass. We’ll save him. We need a warning and say, that won’t get you to heaven. You need to trust Christ as your Savior in order to be saved. And if we do that, then we’re free of his blood.
Even if he dies without Christ, we’ve done our job. So we’re held accountable as believers to warn the laws. And of course, that will affect our rewards in heaven and our blessings now. I hope everybody listening today has trusted Christ as a Savior. And if you haven’t, just be sure to subscribe. tell the Lord Lord I am a sinner. I am all are. But right now I trust Jesus as my only hope of heaven trusting that he died and shed his blood to pay for my sins.
And the moment you do, God will save you. By the way, the summer months are lean and that’s where most ministries suffer a decline in the giving and Bibleline is no exception.
