But by the way, we’re having a dinner this Sunday and we’re having a baptism. And that’ll happen at three o’clock in the afternoon. We’d love to have you. We can get you a map so that you can go directly to the baptism site, or you can come join us for morning worship and stay for the dinner we’ll have and then follow us as we motorcade up to the lake have the baptism.
What a baptism. A lot of people were baptized as infants, a lot of people were baptized in some church experience they had. But true Believers baptism is a baptism that occurs after you’re saved as a testimony to the fact that you have been saved. We have one lady who’s going to be baptized Sunday who has been baptized four times. She said finally it’s going to be the right time because now I know I’m saved. Now I know that I know the Lord and the prior baptisms she didn’t know whether she was saved or not.
So she says now I want to give testimony to the fact that I’ve been cleansed of my sin by the boat of Jesus Christ. So she’ll be baptized the fifth time but this is really the first time she’s getting it right because again believer’s baptism is a testimonial of of how you have been saved, and you do it after you become saved as a testimony of the fact that you are cleansed of your sin by the blood of Jesus.
I was talking to a caller off air yesterday about baptism and he was calling in from listening in Nashville, Tennessee. A lot of confusion is out there. There are many churches that teach water baptism as being essential for salvation. Let me go to one today. We’ll talk about the Bible for a little bit and we’ll take our callers. You’re welcome to call in at 1-800-576-3771. Acts 2.38 is a key one. It says, there are Peter says it on the day of Pentecost, repent and be baptized every one of you.
And many churches get this verse really wrong, but you have to define the terms. First of all, Peter says, repent. The Greek word and the New Testament was written in the Greek language, translated repent means to change your mind. The Greek word is meta noia. M-E-T-A meta in the Greek means change. Noia N-O-I-A in the Greek is mine, am I in D. So you need to change your mind. The two words together, meta noia, I mean a change of mine.
Peter had been preaching here on the day of Pentecost, 50 days after the resurrection. The fact that this leadership of Israel had crucified Jesus because they thought he was a blasphemer, a fraud, a counterfeit, an imposter, a charlatan, a deceiver, and they crucified him because of that. But Peter says he needed to change your mind. He came back from the dead and he showed himself a lie for 40 days and you need to recognize you’ve made a mistake here.
He says repent. That means change your mind. And secondly he says be baptized every one of you. Now here is the problem. Most people when they see the word baptized, their minds lock up and they think water, water, water, water, water, water. They can’t seem to get beyond water. But guess what? There are 10 baptisms. That’s right, 10. Ten baptisms taught in New Testament. And most of them are dry, don’t involve any liquid whatsoever. And certainly the context will demand what baptism we’re talking about, and this one is not talking about water.
Look at what it says. If you have your Bible open, Acts 2, 38, it says, Repent, Change Your Mind about who Christ is, by the way. As this was what they had to change your mind about, they were told in verse 36, therefore for let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God hath made that same Jesus, which one the one that you crucified both war that means he is God and he is Christ, he is the Messiah.
When they heard this they were pricked in their hearts and they said to Peter and the apostles, men and brethren, what shall we do? And Peter said, change your mind. The Greek word metanoid means to change your mind. And then be baptized, every one of you, though So the word baptized means the cleanser to wash to fully well. And it says here be cleansed or washed. If you just translated it into everyday language, change your mind and be cleansed or washed every one of you.
And then it says not water, but in the name, in the name, in the name, in the name of Jesus Christ. And what will happen? consequences, you’ll receive the remission of your sins. Number two, you receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. So there are two consequences, but notice it says, be baptized in the name. Now what does that mean? Throughout the Bible, the Bible tells us that there’s salvation in Christ’s name. His name really tells us who he is.
The name Jesus comes from two Hebrew words, the first of which is God’s personal name, it’s for consonants YHWH. Nobody’s really sure how to pronounce it. It was pronounced at the time of a 1611 translation of the King James Bible. As Jehovah, actually, Jehovah, they put the vowel sounds from the Hebrew word, Adonai, in between the four consonants YHWH and they came up with YAH whole Vah, three syllables. Well, more recently a group of scholarships just put the vowel sounds of A and E between the YHWH, so it pronounced YHWH.
If you’ve heard of that raise your hand, okay I see a lot of your hands being raised right now. I’m teasing with you. but in any case uh… yawe or jojoba connected with another word salt for salvation which is yasha y a s h a the contraction of that is uh… yeshua And Yeshua in English is spelled Jesus. So it is Yahweh and Yahshah. The contraction is Yeshua. In English it’s pronounced Jesus. And what it’s saying here is that when you are cleansed in his name, which means the authority that Christ gave, you know it says in Acts 4, 12 Peter made this very clear just two chapters later.
He says in verse 12, Neither is there salvation in, any other, for there is none other name, none other name, none other name under heaven, given among men whereby we must be saved. That’s the name of Jesus. When you believe that Jesus is God, who would save you? And if you break it down, you save you, protect you, tear for you, supply for you chars you, all those words are incorporated in salvation. And when you trust that Jesus is the only one that could save you, that by his death and shed blood he paid your sin that in full, the Bible tells us that God saves you.
So Peter says, change your mind about who Christ is. Recognize him as being the Lord he’s God and he’s the Christ and the Messiah. And be cleansed in the authority that he gave in his name thatRepeat said that all that would believe on him would be saved. So that’s all it really means here. Just to have to define the terms here, repent, change your mind, be baptized in the name, not in water, in the name, this is not even the spirit baptism, it is be cleansed or washed in the name or in66666666 of Christ’s name.
It’s like this. Let’s just illustrate by saying that he offers you a blank check, drawn on the bank of heaven in the amount of eternal life and he puts on their pay to whosoever believe it. And at the bottom Jesus signs his name. You know, if you present a check at the bank and nobody has signed on at the bottom of the check, you won’t be able to cash it because it has to have somebody giving authority for the bank to release those USLS funds.
God has offered eternal life and when you put your name in there on the check that it’s payable in the amount of eternal life to John Doe, if that’s your name// and induc and Jesus signs at the bottom his name obviously you can draw on the Bank of Heaven the gift of eternal life. Well that’s what it’s saying here next to 38. When you believe or trust Christ, then in the name, in the authority that Christ gave, you become cleansed or washed of your sins, and the two consequences become yours.
You receive the remission of your sins, and you receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. This is not talking about water. Nowhere does the Bible teach that water would wash away your sin. But if I will very clearly say this in Revelation 5 and many other verses that we are washed by the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, the hymn writer wrote, What can wash away my sin? The answer being nothing but the blood, nothing but the blood, nothing but the blood.
I’m amazed at how many people will sing that song, enjoy that song, and when you actually get down to the nitty gritty and ask them, What do you have to do to go to heaven or have your sins forgiven, they list off baptism. You’re just saying to him, what can wash away my sin, answer nothing but the bud. Then you’re telling me water baptism and church membership and obeying the commandments and all these other things will get you to heaven.
You’re not thinking. I don’t understand how people don’t connect the dots. But the Bible is very clear here that Jesus alone paid for sin, he gave his authority, being God. He is Jesus, which is Yeshua, that is Yahweh and Yahshah, the two words put together, God himself, the creator of the universe, the self-existed eternal God, who would save you. Jesus is that one, and when you change your mind and recognize who he is, and then are washed in the authority that he gives in his name to all that would believe on him that they would be saved, you’re going to receive the remission of your sins and the gift of everlasting life.
By the way, I have a CD where I cover all 10 baptisms. I think it’s two Sunday messages we combine together where we cover all 10 and it’s for a gift of $7 and that might be very helpful. if you go to the Internet. and you can go to my article five of theNovember 11th and I get a number of articles of it about baptism and I covered the 10 baptisms, one take a look at by friend of the future testing in one of the church membership, as tense what ever might be to go make it the only way you can make it is to trust Christ.
Anddoors that’s exactly what acts 2.30 to say, Change your mind repent and be washed or cleanse ISIS in what not water but in the name. By the way some people say really stretching it you have made that up………………………………………………………. and you’re trying to nonex In 1 Corinthians 6, I list a lot of sins here, but it says in verse 11 of 1 Corinthians 6, and such were some of you. But you are washed. Look at that word there, the same word that we’re reading about next to 30, the you are washed.
And such were some of you, but you are washed. But you are washed in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God. I didn’t make this A lot of people have never really carefully read their Bible, but in 1 Corinthians 611 it says, and such for some reason I’m a sinner, but it says here I am washed, you are washed if you are a true believer in trusting Christ alone as your Savior, you’re washed in the name.
It says it right here in 1 Corinthians 611. I didn’t make this thing up, but you know, this is what we talk about is rightly dividing the Bible. You have to be separate between the baptism by water, the baptism byFINEST by the spirit, the baptism of death, the baptism of Moses, the baptism of pots and pans, and all the other baptisms taught on the Bible. You have to be able to read your Bible carefully and discern what you’re reading.
This is Bible and we’re excited about being with you. It’s Thursday. Tonight you can catch us on 630 Direct TV nationwide on Channel 321. and I said I’m just saying that I’m not going to break. So I’m going to get to that guy. Ok, I’m going to be going to get to that guy. I’m not going to break. I have two questions. I really don’t have anything to do with each other, but I was reading a lot about Jesus as he was preaching.
He preached a lot about the Kingdom saying that repent for the Kingdom of Heaven as a hand. The Kingdom of Heaven is like until man is going to a far country. The Kingdom of Heaven is like this. And I was just wondering if we set focus as we are preaching on preaching the Kingdom to people? absolutely not. The Kingdom of Heaven is an expression that really means the Kingdom of the Heaven. Alright, now I’m going to get to that guy.
and rules and reigns on the earth, that the heavens will actually rule over the earth. We’re going to come back with Christ at his second coming, and we will assist him and rule and reign with Christ a thousand years. Read Revelation 20 verses USL4 through 6, where it says they shall be ruling andBUS forCompatdinand for that thousand years. So this is the kingdom that’s ahead. By the way, right now, we are not to be preaching the kingdom. That is a message that will be preached again after the rapture during the tribulation period.
Right now we are in the church age. As the church Christ is not our king, he is the head of the church the Bible says. He is the groom and we are the bride of Christ. We are the body of Christ and he is the head of the body. The Bible makes it very clear. For Israel, Christ will come back as a king and set up an earthly kingdom. That will actually take place seven years after the rapture. So we should not be talking about kingdom.
Today we have a lot of theology where there is kingdom preaching, kingdom music, kingdom power, kingdom this, kingdom that, kingdom everything. And the preachers that are doing that are not rightly divided in their Bible. Right now we should not be preaching about the kingdom. We need to preach about the Church in the Church Age and it’s all of us who are believers in Christ that are placed into what is called the body of Christ and Christ is our head.
But once the Rapture happens, the message of the Kingdom will be preached again because God will set up an earthly kingdom and the Jewish people are going to be the head nation during that kingdom and Christ will rule over the whole earth from the city of Jerusalem. It’s going tofailed what a wonderful day. Remember the Lord’s Prayer in Matthew 6, it says, Our Father which art in heaven. How would be thy name? The kingdom come. It’sDefense of the kingdom.
That’s why really we shouldn’t be praying that prayer right now because it’s not a prayer that we as the church should be praying. But a prayer that Israel did pray and will pray again during the tribulation period. But it says, like kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. That has not been done on earth as it is in heaven. That has not been done on earth as it is in heaven. while Christ rules over this earth as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
Sure, hope that helps. Well, we’re going to come back with Christ and rule and reign as kings and priests, absolutely. But… Oh, and the white. Well, I think you can say that we are because we will experience that in the future, but we’re really going to come back and enjoy the kingdom as Christ bribed as He will celebrate about whole thousand years, but actually our message right now is not about the kingdom at all. In fact, if you read Matthew 10 when Christ sent out His disciples, He told them to preach the message of the kingdom, but it was to be expressly and exclusively preached just to Israel.
verse 5 of Matthew 10, go not into the way of the Gentiles, into any city of the Samaritans in or ye not, but go rather to the lost sheep of the hell. And as you go preach, saying the kingdom of heaven is at hand. So that was the message. Then we have in Matthew 24 when he was asked about what would be the sign of this coming after the rapture during the tribulation. It says this gospel of the Kingdom shall be preached into all nations.
That isn’t happening right now, but the message of the Kingdom that Christ is going to set up his kingdom will be preached again after the Rapture as a sign that Christ is just about ready to return to the earth. So we are clearly the disciples were not told to preach the gospel of the Kingdom to the Gentiles at all. I started to look at it when he said repent for the kingdom of heaven is a hand is that repent for the kingdom of heaven is here wherever Jesus is because he is a king I just saw it as being okay repent for the king is here for the kingdom is at hand because I’m here that’s that’s the way that I looked at it.
Yeah that’s Yeah, that’s not true. So I’m talking about the thousand year kingdom. Now the Bible uses an unafraid, the kingdom of God. It’s all encompassing of everything from eternity past to eternity future, everything in the control and authority of God, the Father. But the Kingdom of God is not what we’re discussing. We’re talking about the message about the Kingdom of Heaven, which is the Millennium. Okay. And also my other question which doesn’t have anything to do with this was the dimensions of pale.
Can you break down the dimensions of pale? Well, I don’t know that the Bible gives us any dimensions for how it says it hell is empty right now. Satan’s going to be the first one in, and we find that everybody that’s lost is right now waiting in Hades, a place of flame and torment the heart of the earth, and they’ll be brought up out of there at the end of the millennium after Satan is cast into Hell in verse 10 of chapter 20 of Revelation.
Matthew 2541 says to the lost, depart from the cursed and everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels. So they get to be first in, then everyone in the human race will follow, but right now it’s empty and there’s plenty of room. Alright, there is not a certain amount of confined space for those that go to help. Thank you, Tyrone. The phone number here, by the way, is 1-800-576-3771. We have Earl in Clearwater, Florida, and this one comes in, I think it’s a teenager.
Mom is the breadwinner, Dad is a humble minister, Mom says it’s unbiblical, and Dad is a hypocrite. We put mom through school, but dad never finished his. What should we do? Well, a husband and wife are a team, and it’s a team effort. It says here that you put mom through school. Perhaps now the role has changed a little bit. But I think obviously you all need to sit down and talk about this because obviously you’re not in agreement if you’re saying that your mom says that you’re does a hypocrite for allowing that to happen and that.
You are apparently siding with your mom. I would think Earl that you need to all sit down and talk about this thing. If you read Proverbs 31, talked about the virtuous woman there being a real contributor to the family, it’s hard to find a woman like that. Her price is far above Ruby’s as it describes her. And you’ll notice there that she is also a great participant in producing and keeping the family in the family. going in together. She even buys and sells and is a real contributor to the family.
So I think you might want to readdress everything here and take a fresh look at it from the scriptures. And I don’t know if I was able to completely answer it because I only get a little bit of a snapshot of your family from what you said here. But I think that if your dad is a true minister of the gospel and he’s working hard at that. I think that’s to be commendable, but you all need to kind of re-look at everything here.
All right, we are coming up on the break time here and we’re going to come back and do a second half hour by one. By the way, we could really use your help at this time. We are listeners supported. If you would like to help us in the lean summer months, we’re trying to get through here and we could use your help. You can give a gift by credit card over the phone or send it by mail. If you can’t give, we love you this as much and God bless you, but we do trust that God will supply by some of you knowing that we do have a need.
We can use your help right now. Anyway, we’re going to take a break. We’ll be right back and I hope you’ll be listening when we get back from this short break. Go away. Bibleline will be back in a moment. Give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. I am Dr. Englund. I am Dr. Hank Lindstrom and it’s great to be with you today. It’s a pleasure and a joy for us to bring Bible on to you. We’re just getting to meet so many wonderful people and we sure appreciate all of you and look forward to being with you every day.
I hope you’re enjoying. I enjoy getting to talk to some of you. I talked to several listeners that yesterday. It was near the phone as people were calling in and I grabbed some of those calls. It was fun and I enjoyed answering some questions and seeing what you all are saying. But I got some real encouragement. There were people who were telling me they were learning so much about the Bible through the Bible and program which is really what we’re attempting to do.
Answer your questions. I remember what it was like to be in church. Ask questions and never be able to get an answer. I was so disappointed as a little boy. And actually, I was on a course to leave church as something that I would not continue after I got out of high school and left mom and dad and moved out on my own. I was disappointed. But you know, I found the Bible had answers and that was exciting for me.
And that’s what we try to do here. As I was so disappointed, I didn’t get answers. I want to try to give answers to people. I had so many questions and I’ve studied over many years now to find the answers for my home benefit and I’m sharing that with you two who are calling in. We sure do thank all of you for prayers and for your support and again we are in August and we’re trying to work our way out of this summer period.
It’s sometimes difficult when we’ve really stretched ourselves right out to the limit to get out there to all of you who are listening today. And we don’t pay any salary, so there’s nobody getting a… There’s no payroll. So everything is really going into ministry, and we believe the time is urgent for us to do this, because Christ is coming back, and we want to reach out as far as we can with as much as God allows us to do.
And I think that’s the right thing to do too. But we want you to know we have a need. This is money that’s going to go right. I don’t think of any, I don’t know if there is an ministry that is going to be most that efficient with the monies going directly into ministry with no salaries or no payroll. So that’s what Bible is all about. If you want to be a part of us, you can. If you don’t want to be, that’s all right too.
But we’re trusting that God will supply and so that we can reach out even further. We would really like to get out to the whole world of time and we are trying our best. God bless you and thank you for… Praying for us that if you want to give you can do it by credit card over the phone, just call our 800 number. We’re about ready to rejoin stations that have been on break and we’re going to do Bibleline Part 2.
So hold on tight to your radio. Here we go. Would you like to call Bibleline and ask Dr. Lindstrom a question? You can. Just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. ARTICLE forroleum for We also love you this as much, but we trust that God will supply our needs through your gifts to Bible and call and ask how you might do that by phone or how we could send you an envelope with our address on it.
We’re going to go to Chuck up in Chattanooga, Tennessee and Chuck, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Dr. Hank, I was wondering if you would be so kind and tell me what chapters in the Bible I can look up pertaining to marriage or how we’ll delete the head of the household shit Act and give me some some fees on this I’ll hang up and all this alright check actually Actually We have there the first marriage recorded there in the in the Bible in chapter two of Genesis and how that the husband of mine for to separate themselves emotionally and financially from their moms and dads and to set up On their own and become one new family family.
Proverbs has a lot of wonderful advice about marriage, and parenting, and children. I would read the book of Proverbs, and you’ll find a lot of help there. Also, in the New Testament, you’ll find Matthew chapter 19, 1 Corinthians chapter 7, Ephesians chapter 5. I went a little bit past there, but hopefully those are some chapters that would help you too. And then Peter has a lot to say in 1 Peter, particular chapter 3. So check out some of those passages.
We have a great book by Chuck Swindall that I like very much called Strike the Original Match where he does a nice look at marriage from the Bible including the problems and divorce, remarriage and all of that. So it’s called Strike the Original Match. We have it here you can call and order that book. Hopefully that helps Chuck and we thank you for your call today. We’re now going to go to Benjamin in Clearwater and Benjamin. Welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air.
Good morning, Dr. Hank. Good morning. He is talking and the verse of 1st of the chapter 3 verse 18. And they say that Jesus died for our sin. That means he takes the consequence for our sin. But as you know, you say many times in that 1 Corinthians chapter 11 verse 3, they say the people make a scene, can be weak, can be sick, or can sleep in God, can be sick. When Jesus stayed at our sin, that’s when he took also the co-…
Now his body dies but his spirit does not be tortured by the sin. That we are the same too that our body can be tortured by the sin. We can die. We can make it get weak. We can get sick. the scene. For our consequence, the sin, the negative or the consequence, the negative or the spirit. I don’t know. Can you explain that to me please? You really have to recognize that there are three tenses of our salvation. And as far as the past tense, the penalty for sin has been forever paid for by Christ.
And that’s what 1 Peter 3 18 is talking about. Then there is the present tense of salvation where the past tense, We are delivered from the penalty of sin, but then the second tense is delivered from the power of sin. As a believer, we can have victory over sin in our life with the power of the Holy Spirit operating in our life as we choose to live for Christ. And we follow the scriptures and gain strength by feeding on the Word of God.
But there’s a future tense of salvation when we’re delivered from the presence of sin. So there’s the penalty of sin, the power of sin, and the presence of sin in heaven will be not capable of sinning anymore. And then will be delivered from the presence of sin. Sin will not be an option at all for us in heaven. Satan and all the loss will be forever banished in hell. And we’ll never have contact with him ever again. So right now there are consequences for our sins in this daily life, but it has nothing to do with our deliverance from hell.
So we’re talking in 1 Peter 3 18 about the past tense and we’re delivered from hell from the moment we trust Christ, but we are not delivered from the consequences of sin in this life right now. When you become a child in your parents family when you were born, you are their child forever no matter what you do, good or bad, whether you behave or disobey, you’re still the child. Although you might try to drive the car without permission and wreck it, you’re still their child.
But the consequences are still going to be there. The car will begin it up and there will be bills to be paid. Maybe you even got injured as a result of your disobedience. You might have to live with that disability or injury for the rest of your life here on this planet. The same thing is true as a believer. Once you’re saved, you’re saved forever, but you can do things that will have consequences in this life while you’re still in this body.
I hope I’ve been able to help make that clear, but that’s kind of what’s going on there. We do thank you for calling in today Benjamin. We’re now going to go to Harold in Hollywood, Florida, and I believe this is my Jewish atheist friend, Dennis, in South Florida. Shalom to you, Dr. Lincolle. Shalom to you, Harold. Good to hear your voice. Well, you know, when I have a question to ask, I know who to call because, you know, I’ve been hearing so much at least debates and in the Bibles and everything, and all I hear is double talk.
That’s what I hear. I have a question. When I have a question, I know I’ll listen to the answer to the person who will give me the answer. God gave Moses the Ten Commandments. Am I saying that right? That is exactly right. Now, if Jesus is also God, should we say Jesus gave God the Ten Commandments? How do we do that now? Jesus might say, we’ve Moses commandments if he’s God. Yes. Yeah, Jesus Right therefore it would be that Jesus gave God or Jesus gave Moses the 10 commandments.
That’s correct And I think we could say that you know, it’s interesting. Let me just jump to an interesting passage here Harold in John chapter 5 Jesus here was talking to a Jewish audience that was rejecting him But yet revered Moses and what Jesus said here is quite remarkable. I think it probably sheds light on what you’re saying here, which is really an interesting point you’re making. But he says here in verse 45 of John 5, do not think that I will accuse you to the Father.
There is one that accuses you even Moses in whom you trust. And then verse 46 says, had you believed Moses, you would have believed me for he wrote of me. And then it says in verse 47, if you believe not Moses’ writings, how shall you believe my words? So it’s interesting here that Jesus makes a big connection between himself and Moses and now Moses had written about him in the first five books of the Bible. Therefore why don’t we say that Jesus can commandments?
Well, I think you made a good pointer. I think we ought to save it. Well, that’s why I’m saying, well, why are we going along with saying, and everybody’s saying, well, you know, Moses, God gave Moses the 10 commandments. Well, in fact, that’s not true. Well, it is, but it isn’t, you know, because Jesus is God, I believe, and therefore God gave Moses the commandments, but Jesus is God, and so therefore Jesus did give him the commandments. I’m agreeing with you, Dr.
Lindstrom. I don’t understand why they don’t take this up. Why don’t all these ministers, whoever they are, why don’t they quote this or say it the way it should be said? That’s all I’m asking. Why don’t they do that? That’s a good point and I don’t know why they don’t do it, but maybe they’re not making the connection. Again, as I said earlier in the program, a lot of people are not connecting the dots. And I think if you disconnect the dots and all the whole Bible pulls together and you can see it in harmony.
It doesn’t contradict. It’s a unified book that tells one story without contradiction. I agree with that. Well, I really don’t watch anything but sports on TV. And occasionally I will use a C-SPAN when they have these over-sudden. Now you’ve got all these candidates running for president. They’re always talking about a Judeo-Christian culture. There’s no such thing. But there’s no such thing. I mean, I go with what you tell me. And not one of them is. And definitely, they’re always preaching from the Bible.
The Bible says this, and the Bible says that. And we know that’s a political gimmick that they use. I’ve never heard anyone say that in reality that it was Jesus who gave Moses the Ten Commandments. Well I tell you that would really blow their minds, wouldn’t it if they heard somebody come out and say that, which would be wonderful. But you’re absolutely right.
I think what the politicians are doing is just try to make the Bible work for them if they can and they just give us this warm fuzzy nonsense that’s really just not true. Well, I would ask you this question, Dr. Litchin. You have a lot of believers that call. Has anyone ever said what I just said? I don’t believe they have. I think you’re the first. And I think you really put your finger on a wonderful truth there. Well, then you see maybe the audience now that believes they’re gonna maybe follow up on that.
Wouldn’t that be great? Maybe we could call in these politicians and religious leaders. uh… listed together well i i i would really suggest that this is no longer a true day old christian you hear that every day but i’ve never heard that what you just told me think that’s why i call you and i get the truth and that was a pleasure to talk to you as always ok harold well god bless us or do we talk to you and uh…
well i will continue to support your ministry it’s been a terrible thing in Hollywood, you know, the weather and the flooding and the lightning and all kinds of nonsense that we’re getting down here He’s out. Is that right? Wow didn’t realize you all experiences so much now apparently Possibly storms coming in a few like you see well, I tell you I do work for I won’t name the company But I would tell you don’t leave home without it. Okay.
I got it now And I suggest that would be the Bible too. Okay, thanks I would say may the good Lord bless you. Well thanks Harold, God bless you. Well, I am very curious here to me because Jewish atheist here are really having great insight on what the Scriptures are saying here and truly if you believe that the Bible says that Jesus is God, then of course Jesus is the one who gave the Ten Commandments. And I think this passage in John that I just quoted is quite remarkable because Jesus is telling us that Moses is the one that wrote about him and that he is there in Genesis Exodus, Leviticus Numbers and Deuteronomy.
And if you read your Bible with spiritualized sight, I think you’ll see that. Thank you Harold again for calling in from South Florida in Hollywood, Florida. We are now going to go to Vyra up in Jacksonville, Florida and we’re so excited about hearing from you today. Welcome to Bible Life. Vyra are you there? Unless I lost that or maybe I have the wrong line here Vyra. Are you there? You are live on Bible Life. When the check that went out, we’ll have our operator check and see if we can get Vyra on the air and we’ll We’re going to go now to Janus in Tampa, Florida.
Janus, welcome to the Bibleline. You’re on the internet. Hello, Janus. And I don’t know what has happened here, but I didn’t get anybody up on the internet. And we’ll have to check and see if we can get our operators to solve this problem for me. We will try that in just a minute. We have here. Mary in Prince George, Virginia calls in the office says, please explain first John 1-9. Well John the Apostle here writes about fellowship. The word fellowship occurs several times there right there in that first chapter and he talks about fellowship with the Lord is something that we enjoy when we walk in the light as he is in the light.
In other words, when we walk in the direction the Lord is going in, we walk in the direction the Word of God points out for us to walk that we’re going to have fellowship with the Lord. And then fellowship with other believers is based upon our walking, all of us together, in fellowship with the Lord. So it’s a wonderful chapter that talks about what true fellowship is. I think a lot of people mis-define it and they say, let’s go out for some fellowship and they just have a cup of coffee and they talked about football or something else and that’s not fellowship.
Fellowship all centers around Jesus but we also find in 1 John 1 that John tells us that sin breaks or interrupts that fellowship. So he gives us this wonderful remedy for broken fellowship and that’s in 1 John 1 9 and it says if we confess our sins. So he’s telling us that if we confess our sins not to a man but to the Lord himself, naming by name those things that we know to be sin or wrong. It says, he, God, is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
So we find that it’s a wonderful verse that tells us how to be cleansed in our daily walk, our fellowship with the Lord, our relationship by the new birth as eternal. Once you trust Christ, you are eternally saved. John later in the fifth chapter reminds us of how we can actually know that we have eternal life. But in the first chapter he starts off with fellowship and how the fellowship only is maintained as we walk in the light, as Christ in the light.
And if we step out of the light and we sin, then that fellowship is broken. And first time one time tells us how to get back in fellowship. I hope that helps Mary and thank you for listening up there in Prince George, Virginia. And we’re going to go now to Janice in Tampa, Florida. And Janice, welcome to Bibleing. Hi. Good morning. Good morning. Yes. I want to find out. I heard you said earlier on that our father probably should not be praised yet, and I’m confused because I’ve heard of Pat, but that’s the most important prior to pray.
Well guess what? It’s a wonderful pattern, but it’s not for us to pray right now. That prayer is really not the Lord’s prayer. It’s where he taught the disciples how to pray, but it was for that period of time prior to his rejection at Calvary, whereas when he was rejected, the kingdom was postponed. That was a prayer for the kingdom, and because the nation of Israel rejected Christ, that kingdom has been postponed. But once the rapture happens, that prayer will be a viable prayer again in the future.
So it’s really not to be prayed today, but there are principles in there, obviously, to give thanks for our daily bread and to have restored relationships with other people that we’ve transgressed against and so on and so on. And that we are to honor and revere God’s name, our Father which art in heaven and so on. But it’s really about the kingdom and Christ’s return and is not really technically for now. If you pray, that’s fine, but I think that when you become more knowledgeable about for what time period is to be prayed, you know, it would be like praying that we could hurry up and complete the art because the flood is coming.
But once the flood came, that prayer would be no longer a valid prayer anymore. The flood came and went and God said he’d never again flood the earth as he did in days of Noah. So we wouldn’t be praying that prayer anymore. In the Old Testament times, people would pray for the Holy Spirit. You even see that in the gospels, but today for somebody to pray for the Holy Spirit is wrong because every believer has the Holy Spirit at the moment you believe.
So for me and in some churches they do that. They say Lord give us your Holy Spirit and let your Holy Spirit fall on us and all that. Well it’s already happened if you’re a believer. Every believer has the Holy Spirit. So a lot of people are praying for things they already have or things that they’re not praying correctly. And of course that’s what it really means over in the book of Jude when it says praying in the Holy Spirit.
It means praying in the direction and with the light that the Holy Spirit sheds us. He’s the author of the Bible and we read in the Scriptures, we learn how to pray. Okay. I know there’s a lot of good Bible first, but which is a good one to pray in terms of our fact. You mean a good prayer? Well, you mean if you’re looking in the Bible? The real prayer of Christ, by the way, is in John 17. He prayed that in the Garden of Yosemite.
And there you see him praying for us and for our witness while we’re here on the earth and that we might remain pure and dedicated to him and so on and so on. That’s a wonderful place. But I would read in the Epistles like of Paul as he prays for those that he’s writing to. And we have a lot of insight there into good biblical prayers. And you might, especially in Ephesians and Colossians and Philippians, he talks a lot about prayers.
He prays for individuals and he prays for believers as a group and they’re beautiful prayers, wonderful prayers that we get a lot of insight about praying from Paul. That’s Paul, what verse is that? If you just start off in Ephesians chapter 1, I think about verse 20, something or maybe about fifteen under the end of the chapter is all one big wonderful prayer. Okay. I have one, a lot of questions. My daughter, I’ve been, in terms of the book, she’s reading book on the fairs and Egyptian and all of that.
When I read the Bible, it tells me about Sarah and I thought there was one Sarah. She’s saying when she reads those books about Egypt and Egypt’s, it tells her about Sarah as if they’re more than one Sarah. Well, there have been many pharaohs, you know, when you read the look of Exodus, it tells us there that another pharaoh came along that didn’t know Joseph, and he turned against Israel and had all the baby boys drowned in the Nile River.
And, of course, that’s when God instructed the parents of Moses to put him in a little basket and to make it waterproof. And God used that little baby in a basket to turn everything around as the princess came down to bathe in the river and heard the baby cry. And she adopted Moses and he became raised right there in the palace and could have been feral, but he chose with all the training that God gave him through that experience to be the great leader that would lead Israel out of Egypt.
So in that, in other words, just as there were many kings of Egypt, there were many parents too. That’s right. Oh, all right. Thank you so much. All right, Janice, thank you for calling in today to Bibleline. And now we’re going to go to Jacksonville. We have Vyra waiting there and welcome to Bibleline. Thank you, Vonta Hank. Thank you for taking my call. My question is that recently I had a conversation with a Baptist couple and I go to a non-denominational church here in Jacksonville.
And the debate, it wasn’t necessarily a debate but it was more of a conversation that they were in disagreement as far as what a woman’s role in the spiritual body of Christ should be, and they were also in disagreement that women should be a pastor. And my question to you is, is this opinion, is it based more along theological or denominational? Is it, or are the end verses in the Bible that support the store rules for women? And I’m going to hang up right now so that I can hear you better.
Thank you. Thank you. And it has to be their personal opinion. I don’t even think the Baptist Church really approves of women preachers. But first Timothy, rather chapter 2, says here in verse 12, I allow not a woman to teach nor do you serve for 30, 30 over the man but to be in silence. The Bible teaches really that God had given the role of men leadership in spiritual things to Adam. First reason why is in verse 13 of 1 Timothy chapter 2 where it says Adam was first formed and then Eve.
So for order and structure this is why it happened. Secondly, Eve was deceived and Adam wasn’t. So it tells us here in 1 Timothy that women are more easily deceived in spiritual matters. So therefore they really shouldn’t have that role. Men are more factual. Men women think more emotionally. I’m out of time. I wish I could discuss it further, but we can’t today. But thanks for tuning in today. I hope you will pray for Bibleline. I hope you’ll listen again tomorrow.
