One talk a little bit about parables. A lot of people have a completely wrong concept about parables. Usually when a person is asked about parables, they say parables were stories that Christ told in order to make something very simple and easy to understood by the person who is hearing the parable and nothing could be further from the truth.
Contrary to what most people think and have been taught, Jesus Christ spoke in parables to hide or conceal truth from those who did not want to really know truth. That’s right. Let me just quote the Scriptures for you. I’m going to turn to Mark’s gospel and you might want to turn there also and see it for yourself. I’m not making this up. In Mark’s gospel, and of course it’s true, in all the gospels it says the same thing. But here is a plain one.
It says here in verse 9, he said unto them, he that hath ears to hear, let him hear. And when he was alone they were about him with the twelve asked him of the parable. And he said unto them, verse 11 of Mark’s Gospel chapter 4, unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God, but unto them that are without all these things there is done parables, verse 12, that seeing they may see and not perceive and hearing they may may hear and not understand less than any time they should be converted and their sins should be forgiven them.
Notice what it’s saying here, but seeing they may see and not perceive and hearing they may hear and not understand, less than any time they should be converted and their sins should be forgiven them. Christ spoke in parables to conceal truth, not to reveal truth. low people say, Jesus spoke in parables to illustrate the truth in order that it might be made clear and understandable, not so, not so. The scriptures speak plainly for themselves. Jesus said unto you it is given to know the mystery of the Kingdom of God, but unto them that are without.
All these things are done in parables, but seeing they may see and not perceive, hearing they may hear and not understand, lest at any time they should be converted and their sin should be forgiven. That’s Mark’s Gospel, chapter 4, verses 11 through 12. Jesus plainly states that he spoke in parables so that people would not understand what he was saying. This is why the whole subject of parables ought to be approached very carefully. It is because parables can be made to say about anything you want them to say.
I have lots of books. I have lots of commentaries. And if you read six different commentaries on parables, you’ll probably get six different ideas about what the parable is talking about. That’s because they can say anything if you’re not careful. That’s why they have to be very carefully interpreted. And that’s why when you go to the parables, you want to make sure they agree with other clear scriptures. In other words, all parables, therefore, must be interpreted in the light of clear doctrinal statements.
We should never contradict a clear statement of Scripture with a Scripture passage we do not understand. For example, Jesus said in John 6, 47, Verily, Verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me has everlasting life. Well, that statement is clear, and the proclamation is final. in the Bible contradicts this wonderful verse. Nothing in the Bible contradicts this wonderful verse. In fact, all other scripture must be interpreted in the light of this verse. Any interpretation of a scripture that contradicts John 647 would be a wrong interpretation.
This is where people make their mistake. You always take a difficult verse and interpret it in the light of a clear verse and you’re always going to come out on top. You have to realize that if God is the author of the Bible, it’s totally an agreement with itself. And if you have an interpretation that is in disagreement with simple and clear passages, you have a wrong interpretation. Those who teach you can lose your salvation are obviously contradicting clear, simple statements of scripture.
Christ said . . . Jesus said in John 639 that he would lose none in, let’s say, he would not lose single person, not 1. Therefore if anybody would ever be lost at any reason, at any time in all history, you’re wrong! You’re wrong! perpendicular interpretation of verse 1, is what ispent that? You’re wrong! Your interpretation is wrong. You have a Bible that contradicts itself. You might as well light a match to it and throw it out. The Bible doesn’t contradict itself.
You always interpret a difficult verse in the light of a clear word. That’s a basic rule of hermeneutics, the interpretation of interpreting the Bible. And, you know, if If you are looking at the parables, you need to look at them very carefully. I did a whole series on parables, I think 10 hours of teaching, and a lot of people rave about that series because we not only take on the most difficult parables, but we show the techniques of interpreting the Bible so that you come out with a consistent interpretation that follows from Genesis to Revelation.
unless you follow these basic rules, you get yourself in trouble and you’ll find that most commentaries do that. I’ve got a lot of books that are written about parables and one in particular I bought is a beautifully printed book, a beautiful jacket on it. It’s just a pretty thing to have on your shelf and on the back it says, the author says parables written to make a difficult truth simple. And I said, this book is not worth reading. He’s got it wrong from the get-go.
Parables were written to conceal truth, not to reveal truth. And you’ll see that wherever you look. In Matthew 13, where the chapter introduces a number of parables in Matthew 13, again, the truth is clear. Jesus Christ hides truth from those who don’t want to know truth. Before I get to chapter 13 of Matthew, let me read this incredible prayer of Jesus in Matthew chapter 11. At that time in Matthew 11.25 it says, at that time Jesus answered and said, I thank the O Father, Lord of Heaven and Earth, because Thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent and has revealed them under the babes.
Isn’t that interesting? He hid truth from the wise and prudent. He hid, H-I-D, hid truth from the wise and prudent, but revealed among the babies. You know, that’s the marvelous thing about the Bible, is that you can, you know, read the Bible and not make sense of it at all. The unsafe person is not going to make much sense of the Bible because the Bible is spiritually discerned. That says in 1 Corinthians 2, 14, the natural man, the unsaved man, the person that’s not born again, does not receive the things of the Spirit of God.
They are foolishness to him, neither can he know them because they are spiritually discerned. So the unbeliever will say, hey, the Bible doesn’t make any sense to me. This is all a lot of nonsense. I can’t accept the Bible. Well, that’s because they’re unsaved. They are spiritually blinded, and the truths of God’s word are hidden to the unbeliever. Not to the believer, they are open. To the one who is seeking, they are open. A child can understand the wonderful truth of Scripture about God’s love and Christ’s death at Calvary for their sins and be saved.
But a person might have a PhD. They might have an intelligent quotient of a genius and yet be able to read the Bible and not make sense of it at all. I’ve had people tell me, I’ve read the Bible eight or ten times. that they can’t make any sense out of it. It’s amazing to me how this is the way the Bible works. Well in Matthew 13, Christ tells us these same wonderful truths about parables and how they are written to conceal truth.
He had just spoken to parable here of the sower and it says that disciples came verse 10 of Matthew 13 and they said to him, why My speak is thou unto them in parables.” And he answered and said unto them, because it is given unto you the believers here, the disciples, to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them that are without it is not given, for whomsoever hath to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundantly, but whosoever hath not from him shall be taken away even that he hath.
or speak to them in parables because they sing C-non and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. He says that he has given them the spirit of slumber verse 13, 15 says, less than any time they should see with their ears, see their eyes rather, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. But then he says to the believers, but blessed are your eyes, for they see, and your ears for they hear.
Interesting, isn’t it? So there’s two groups out there, those that are seeking the truth, those that are not seeking the truth, those that seek the truth will find, discover, understand, those that are not seeking the truth will be blinded and they will not get the truth. I hope you’re open to the truth and if you are, you’ll understand that salvation is a gift. It’s offered free to all that would believe that Christ died and shed his blood to pay for our sins at the cross and that when you once receive Christ from that point on, you’re saved eternally and can never be lost.
You’re saved forever and ever and ever. I pray you’ve trusted Christ. I’m not going to any glimpse from this is Bibleline and we’re going to go to the phone lines. We invite you to give us a call. The number is 1-800-576-3771. 1-800-576-3771. Alright we’re going to go now to some of our offer questions quickly and then we’ll take the on-air questions. Give us a call, we’ll get you up on the air. This is a call from James in Mulliken, Michigan.
He leaves this offer a question. Some married couples, vows say till death do you part. That will become of married couples vows who are caught up in the rapture since they have not died. Well, obviously they will be in the same category as those that have died as far as their vows will have then ended because from that point on there is no marriage in heaven. In Matthew 22.30 Jesus said, In the resurrection they neither marry nor are they given in marriage.
So that is the resurrection for the believer. At the rapture, those that have died before us will be brought with Christ to the upper atmosphere of the earth and their new bodies will rise up and that’s the resurrection one to get the resurrection bodies. We who are alive will be caught up and be transformed in our new bodies on the way up, but the answer is we will not be given in marriage and there will be no marriage in heaven.
And so we will be all brothers and sisters in one wonderful family with God as our Father. So James, the believers who are living and are caught up together in the Rapture will fall in that same category and there is no marriage in heaven. We have Joe and Pimric Pines that leaves us off our question. A pastor named Skip Heizak says 1 Corinthians 13 8 through 10 on tongues and knowledge of being no more is wrong. He says that which is perfect as Jesus.
He says that these gifts still exist now. Well, I disagree with him. He’s wrong. It’s clear that it cannot refer to Jesus. The Greek demands that the subject there be a neuter subject. Christ in Greek is Christos. The OS ending lets us know it is masculine. It cannot refer to Christ. It has to be a neuter subject. And of course, it can’t refer to love because love in the Greek is feminine. It can’t refer to love. It has to refer to a neuter subject.
And the Bible. The word perfect is used of the Bible in James 125. And there it is of course neuter. And that’s the neuter topic there, the Word of God being completed. At the end of the first century when the Bible was finished with the book of Revelation meaning the final book added to the Scriptures, the tongue’s gift was totally ceased along with the other spectacular gifts. They’re gone. What we have today is a counterfeit movement. We need to read Matthew 24-24, Jesus when asked about His Second Coming, told us that in the last days, just before He would return, there would arise false preachers.
And they, it says, will show great signs and wonders or miracles so much so that they would even deceive the very elect. In other words, genuine believers would be fooled by this counterfeit movement. And we see that today. A lot of genuine believers are really kind of swept away with it and really believe that maybe there is something to it. It is not true and the scriptures are very plain, but not genuine believers, but false teachers and preachers would be doing the miracle gifts in the last days.
Joe and Pimbroke Pines, thank you for that question. I’m glad we finally got to it. Thanks for being patient. We have Mark and Tampa. He says, please explain Luke 10, 25 through 28. He is being saved and inherited eternal life the same. The answer is yes. An inheritance is a gift. And you inherit because you are in the right family. And when you become born into the family of God, you receive an inheritance. And that is because Christ left a last will in testament.
and when he died, that will became into effect and based upon his death, we inherit eternal life. Read Hebrews 9 and it talks about Christ is the one who left this will and it is his will that you and I receive everlasting life and it became effective upon his own death as he died in our place and we become the recipients of the inheritance that he offers and it’s a gift. We don’t earn it, we can’t buy it, we inherit it because we trust Christ’s Savior and become born into His family, and as a result of Christ’s death His will came into effect that all that we believe on Him would receive everlasting life.
Mark and Tampa, thank you for that question. We have Ellen in Bradenton, Florida. She says, I’m saved, and I know I will go to heaven, but I struggle with certain sins that I will be judged on. What will heaven be like for me? Will I suffer, or will I be happy?” Well, we know, Ellen, that we’re all going to be dealing with issues that we have done since we’ve been saved when we stand before the Lord when He comes back at the event of the Rapture.
Second Corinthians 5, 10 says we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ. That’s believers only. We must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ that everyone may receive the things them in his body according to that which he hath done, whether it be good or bad. So this is obviously a sobering thought and should cause us all to be careful as to what we do while we are here on this earth because we will have to deal with that when we stand before the Lord.
It will affect rewards in heaven and obviously we would like to have a full reward. But you know the day is coming after the thousand year reign of Christ that God will wipe away all of our tears. And so there may be tears in heaven for a while. But after the thousand year reign of Christ the Bible says in Revelation chapter 21 verse 4 that God will come over and wipe away your tears. And then he will remove those memories that would bring sorrow in heaven and you will no longer shed tears, there will be no more sorrow, there will be no more death, there will be no more disease.
All of the things that were negative here will be taken away. So Ellen, yes, there is a wonderful future ahead. And we will experience some regret at the Judgement seat of Christ, but after the thousand year rate of Christ as we enter into eternity, God will wipe away those tears. Mark in Palm Harbor, Florida, writes in with this fair question. He says, will the grace age last 2000 years? What year was Pentecost? And if Pentecost started the age of grace and the age of grace last 2000 years, the rapture seems to me would be after after the year 2030.
That is a good point Chuck and it’s interesting that you would bring that up and you’re probably right on. But what you have to do, which you probably haven’t considered Chuck, is that you have to adjust to make your years Bible prophetic years in length. The years in the Bible are 1260 days equals 3.5 years or the years are 360 days long. So in order to make that conversion, you would take 2,000 and multiply it by 360 divided by 365 and a quarter.
Our years that we go by are 365 and a quarter days in a year. And the biblical years are 360. And if you multiply 2,000 by 360 divided by 365 and a quarter, you come out with about 1972 years. Pentecost probably occurred somewhere around AD33. The Lord would take us out. I think you do have to make that adjustment. I think the 2000 years is right. a chapter 6 talks about 2000 years as the interval between the first coming and the second coming and then Christ would come back and set up a thousand year, third day that would be the millennium and so I think that’s probably a pretty accurate assessment.
We sure invite you to give us a call here the numbers 1-800-5763771. We’re back from that break and this is Bibleline. We’re coming to you live from Tampa, Florida from our studios right here at the Calvary Community Church located just the block west of Tampa’s International Airport. If you’re coming in to visit us sometime, you can easily find this because all the major roads coming from the north, from the south, from the east, from the west all lead into the Tampa International Airport.
airport. That really makes it easy to find. We’re a big target in a sense right next to the airport. And so when you come, get on the west side of the airport and right there, one blocked west of the perimeter road that goes north and south on the west of the airport. We’re over one block further west. It’s George Road. It also runs north and south. And we’re We’re there between Hillsborough and Memorial Avidus. I think you’ll find us real easy to find.
And if you get more than a block from the airport, you can know that you’re lost. Sometimes I feel we’re so close to the airport, I can go out in the parking lot and reach up and slap those airplanes when they come in. We’re really close. And I hope I’m getting that point across because we want you to get a visual in your mind that we’re very close. If you go to the internet and go to our website, you can go to how to contact us.
And we’ve got it all set up where all you have to do is type in your address and hit submit in new printout directions because our address is already in the system. And it will give you all the directions and a map that you can print out to tell you how to get to Calvary from anywhere in the US. And so you might want to try that too to see how you might find this easily. So we’ve got it all set up on our How to Contact Us page on the Internet site, BivalignMinistries.org.
We’d love to see you. We’d hope you’d come by sometime and say hi, especially if you’re coming into Florida and you come into the Tampa area, please take that extra minute to come by and say hello to us here at Bibleline. We also have some wonderful resources, including the Schofield Bible, which I love so much. We have a soft cover for a gift of $20. We have a hard cover leather. We have some very nice ones including a large print genuine leather beautiful Bible red leather edition.
Scofield old, Scofield the old edition and we have that for gift $100. These are beautiful gifts as we approach Christmas and they are beautiful to have as your own life long Bible. The Scofield, I believe, is the finest reference Bible out there and would really tune you in to good doctrine. Most Bibles have biographical, geographical, historical type of information. They’re great for Bible trivia. I have all of them on a library. There’s probably not a Bible out there that I don’t possess.
My favorite is the Scofield because it’s geared to doctrine. If you want to know about Satan, you want to know about angels, God’s angels, Satan’s angels, You want to know about God, the Godhead, the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit about Jesus. You can get it in the notes in the Scofield Bible. If you want to know about the covenants, the dispensations, if you want to know about the major doctrines of justification, sanctification, glorification, predestination, and so on, the notes are right there.
Oh, it’s wonderful. And it helps you when there’s a word that maybe is translated incorrectly. One of those is of course, repent. Repent was never translated correctly. The English word, repent means fall for sin or turn from sin. That’s not what the original Greek word meant. The Greek word metanoia means a change of mind. It has nothing to do with turning from sin. Has nothing to do with that at all. In most places in the New Testament, it was a change of mind, for example, in the book of Acts about who Jesus is as they preached to people who did not believe in Jesus.
They told them, Repent, change your mind. The Greek word is metanoia. Meta means change, noia means mine. And Schofield does an excellent job a hundred years ago in these notes in the old Schofield Bible is as repentance is the translation of a Greek word metanoia or metanoia or means a change of mind. When you change your mind and believe on Christ as your Savior, you become saved. That’s exciting. We look forward to meeting you. If you ever get into town, come by and see us if you live in the area.
You’re welcome to come by. We’re going to have a baptism in October the 21st, the third Sunday it will be a dinner Sunday in the afternoon, about 3 in the afternoon. And we have people… They’re listeners as far away as New York that say they want to come and be baptized. They don’t have a good church. They don’t know where to go. And they would just love because they’ve gotten saved through listening to the Bibleline. They want to get baptized here.
We’d love to include you. And if not necessarily the 21st of October, maybe you’d like to go to Israel with me next year. I’ll baptize you in the Jordan River. Wouldn’t that be great? Give us your name to be on our prospect list. We’re thinking about April 1, 2008. If you’d like to go to Israel with me, we would love to have you go. We had a wonderful trip this past spring in March, and we’d love to have you go on this next trip for this.
I’m Dr. Englund, from the phone number, here’s 1-800-576-3771, and we’re gonna take our callers. We’ve got Carol in Tampa, Florida, and Carol, welcome to Bibleline, and you are on the air. Good morning. Good morning. I am calling with a question. After reading a former Tampa Bay Buccaneers Tony Dunge’s book and of course sharing with you, I was hoping that you might be able to explain how to let the Lord take over the flesh and just get out of the way and pray for the guidance we need.
Well, obviously we have a struggle with our flesh. As long as we’re here, we have a flesh nature, we have a nature that’s of God, a new nature, the Bible calls it, the new man. And what we have to do is, I think what the Bible teaches is we make a big decision that helps us with little decisions. In other words, we dedicate our life or consecrate our life to the Lord. We say, Lord, I want to from this point on live for you and serve you all the days of my life.
When you do that, then the little decisions come easier. For example, on Sunday morning, when you get up and you say, well, do I go to church today or not? Well the answer has already been decided if you made that big decision because you’re going to say yes to the things that God would have you to do. And certainly the Bible teaches that we should fellowship together with other believers when they come together. So the answer is not, okay, Lord, two out of three.
If I put my quarter here and heads I go to church, tails I stay home, and then if it doesn’t work out two out of three and so on, that isn’t the way it works. But the people who make their decision on the spot generally aren’t very good Christians. They don’t make the right decisions because they are flipping and flop and wobbling as their decision making process. Once I dedicated my life, it became very simple. Sunday morning I got up, whether it was raining, I didn’t say whether I’m going to church or not.
I went whether it was raining or whether it wasn’t raining, whether the sun was shining or whether it wasn’t. That became a regular habit for me. And should I read my Bible? The answer is always yes. I’ll read my Bible. And should I pray? Yes, the answer is yes. I’ll pray. And I made the yes answer choices because I made a big decision. So that’s what I recommend. And in Romans chapter 7, you see that Paul had the same struggle that we all have.
He says that I know that in me That is in my flesh, growth, no good thing. For to will is present with me, but how to perform that which is good I find not. For the good that I would, that I do not, but the evil that I would not, that I do. So Paul struggled. But he said the victory was in Christ. And as we choose to obey him and serve him, we’re going to be successful. So the key is obedience and the key is making a big decision that kind of covers all the little decisions.
to say Lord I’m going to say yes to you all the days of my life and as the little choices come each day throughout the day you say yes to the Lord you say no to the devil and load to the note of the old nature. So Carol that’s really I think and I’m not sure the secret and we just have to as I love Proverbs 3 5 and 6 memorize it and just make it a practice of your life.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not to your own understanding in all your ways acknowledge him and he shall direct your path. Thank you for my change. If I was to hang my question comes from this truth about how the natural person doesn’t He said in chapter 3 of John, it says, are you a teacher of Israel that you do not understand these things? Now my question is, does that refer maybe back to old scripture that he should have known about being born again?
Absolutely. He should have been more familiar with that. No, obviously he was not. In the Old Testament it talks about people becoming a new man or having a new heart as the Bible described it. And even Saul, who some tried to say was not saved because of how his life ended up, but Saul was saved. And at one point, it talks about him having a new heart and actually the Holy Spirit involved him. And it became almost like they said, he saw one of the prophets.
He began to prophesy with the prophets. But of course, because of sin in his life later, God in the Old Testament, of course, the Holy Spirit could be taken in front of you. The Holy Spirit was taken from Saul and Saul’s life really ended up in disgrace and in death in the battle with the Philistines and Saul died. But Saul was saved in Saul’s in heaven, but Saul paid a price for his departure from the Lord as a Christian, but he was still saved.
And he was one of the examples you could point to as being born again. Do you have any other examples? I mean, because this is pretty serious because it seems like Nicodemus surely should have known that. Yep, it is. Well, Jeremiah talks about it throughout. He talks about putting a new heart. This is the covenant that God would make that he talked about even in the Old Testament times that he says in verse 33 of Jeremiah 31, for example, this shall be the covenant that I will make with you after those days, say, of the Lord, that I will put my law in your inward parts and right upon your hearts.
And that’s the new birth. That’s the inner man, the new man. And he writes his truths within us in our very nature, the new nature that we get received from God. There’s a lot of verses. Alright Adam, thank you for that call. And we’re now going to go to Robert in Petersburg, Virginia and Robert welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air Robert Hello, Robert I think Roberts there’s somewhere, but he’s not talking Robert. We’re gonna have to put you on hold and we’re now gonna go to Brother at well in Photosessa Florida brother at well Yeah, good morning.
I wanted to make a comment this morning you know I was listening to you at the beginning of the program where you were talking about it, if it were possible, you didn’t bring it all out where it said if they were possible, even the very elect would be deceived. And one of the problems with that is today, you know Jesus said, my sheep hear my voice and it won’t fall after. And what we have here today, brother, I mean, Brother Lindstrom, is the fact that most people are in bracing Christ, but they’re not truly trusting Him.
If they were trusting Him, they’d give up the world. Jesus said, you’re either going to love me and hate the world or you’re going to love the world and hate me. We can’t have it both ways and we play into the devil’s hands when we take the And we tell people that they can just live a little like they want to live because they like that because that’s what they want to do. They want the world more than Jesus.
Jesus told them to pick up. Well, you’re absolutely right. You know, and of course, even in the time of Christ, they chose this. For example, in John 12, you had some of the leaders of Israel, the Pharisees that trusted But it says in chapter 12 of John’s gospel that they did not confess Christ. Verse 42 says, nevertheless, among the chief rulers also many believed on him, but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him lest they should be put out of the synagogue.
Verse 43, Jesus says, for they love the praise of men more than the praise of God. You’re actually right. They love the world. They love the praise of men. So they wouldn’t speak up and let people know that they were a believer, and yet they were saved, but they would compromise their Christian life and they lost that on the blessing of being blessed by God for serving Him. Well, thank you, brother, at well, and we appreciate that call today.
We now have Robert in Petersburg, Virginia, and Robert. Welcome to the Bible on your own ear. Good morning. How are you doing? You’re on the ear. Robert, you’re on the ear. Go listen to your radio. It’s 20 seconds behind. the head and and and and and and and and and and Okay. Talk to me. What is your question? My question is, could you explain after the rapture, the thousand years for the return of Christ and what happened on earth and after the devil returned of this again, what happened after that?
I sure will. Thank you, Robert. You know, the Jesus is coming next at the rapture. That could happen at any time. The world will shout and up will go that are living and be caught up to meet the Lord in the end. and given our new bodies. Then on the earth there will be seven years of tribulation. The darkest hours that the world will ever have seen. During that time Antichrist will rise the power and he will be an awful dictator.
He will make Hitler look like a good guy. Jesus will come back at the end of the seven years as the world is involved in the worst war the world has ever seen a nuclear war called the Battle of Armageddon. And that will be over a power struggle between the superpowers, the West controlled by the Antichrist, Russia, China, and of course the Muslim countries all waging war. And Christ will come back and defeat the armies of this world and establish a kingdom, the The Bible says of a thousand years in length.
That kingdom will be a kingdom of peace on earth, good will toward men. Exactly what the angel announced at Christ’s first coming, but has been postponed until his second coming because Christ was rejected. But on the earth, Jesus will be ruling the earth from Jerusalem. Jerusalem will become the world’s capital, and people from all over the world will be under the control of Jesus and the earth will be at peace. Nations will learn war no more, the whole earth will be delivered from the curse, the deserts will blossom and be fruitful and it will be a marvelous time, nobody will be afraid, there will be any crime that will not be controlled and so you will be safe, you can walk or go anywhere at any time of day and not fear anything at night when you go to bed at night, you will not lock your
doors. You’ll be absolutely safe during the millennium. It’s going to be a great time. At the end of that thousand years, of course, Christ is going to destroy the search by fire and create a new heavens and new earth. And then we’ll have the new Jerusalem coming down, I believe, to my view, to orbit the earth. And there we’ll live with the Lord forever and ever. The lost one and Satan and his angel will be forever in hell. And obviously, We will have no more of the devil, we will have no more sin to deal with.
We will be forever in the presence of the Lord and just in joy, the Lord forever and ever and ever. Sheryl, thank you, Robert, and I hope that answered your question. And now we have a caller from Jackson, California, and it’s Cynthia. And we welcome Cynthia to the program and Jackson, the four of you are on the air. Good morning, Dr. Mention. This is Sophia, not Cynthia. Oh, I’m sorry. Sophia. Listen, I just want to touch on that last thing.
You were just talking about listening here. And then I have another quick question. Then I’ll listen to the off the air. That seven years you said that the devil will be ruling any Christ on the earth for seven years. But I remember reading something in Revelation about for three and a half years. And then Jesus comes back and he cuts that time short or something after three and a half years. Then the other thing I wanted to ask you earlier in the show you were talking about the lady, the off air question or something was about appearing before the judgment seat of Christ.
and we all have to appear for whatever is good or bad. But if God forgives all of our sins and remembers them no more, then what bad things would there be? And I’ll take the answer off to here. Thank you, sir. All right. Sophia in Jacksonville, Florida. Well, as far as the tribulation period, you’re absolutely right. The Antichrist rises the power during the first three and a half years and then rains or rules in power for the last three and a half years.
And so you’re absolutely right about that. And of course, I think I was just summarizing this is when he rises the power and he’ll be the most wicked man who’s ever ruled on the earth, and millions will die at his hand. And particularly, he’s going to focus on trying to kill all the Jewish people on the earth, which is a real tragedy. And so the Jewish people are going to go through another Holocaust. and it’s going to be the worst that they’ve ever faced in all of history.
It’s still ahead and I feel so badly for Jewish people. I try to win as many as I can to Christ now because that means they go up with me in the Rapture now. And we’ll not have to face those terrible things that are still coming on the earth. As far as the judgment of Christ, that is in 2 Corinthians 5 and 10. And whatever we’ve done, any bad can be anything from sin to just any form of disobedience against the Lord.
We’re going to have to give an account for everything we’ve done since we’ve been saved when we stand before the Lord. Of course, in the Judge of the City of Christ, it says there, if we’ve done anything of value, it’s going to be rewarded. Then I believe the reward is very eternal. And I think the loss that will be caused by sin and things that we did that were not pleasing to the Lord, that that loss will also be eternal.
So we need to obviously take that seriously and lift the board. It says, Every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labor. 1 Corinthians 3-8. So every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labor. So we all need to be laboring for Christ and serving him as long as we’re here on this earth. Not to be saved, but because we are saved. I’m not serving Christ to be saved. I was saved when I was 18 when I trusted Christ, but I’m living for Christ because not only do I love the Lord and I’m grateful for what He’s done for me, but I know that the things that are valued, the only things that are going to last are the things that we have done for Christ.
Okay, so I think Sophia is back and let me see what she has to say here. Well, yeah, actually, what I was trying to say is where the Bible says that when we ask forgiveness for our sins is that God says he remembers them no more. So if he doesn’t remember our sins anymore, then how could there be anything bad presented against us beforehand if he doesn’t remember our sins anymore? That’s a great question. And we are talking now about the rewards in the future.
There’s three tenses of our salvation. The past tense is we’ve been forgiven from the penalty of sin and that means that they’re forgiven and forgotten and will never be brought up again and you’ll never be condemned to hell once you’ve trusted Christ. The present tense of our salvation is we’re being delivered right now from the power of sin. We can have victory over sin in our life as we yield to obey the Lord and depend upon God the Holy Spirit to give us the power to say no when we should say no and say yes when we should say yes and live a life that is pleasing to the Lord.
The future tense of our salvation is being delivered from the presence of sin where there’s no sin in heaven whatsoever. But as far as the present one we’re going to be judged upon what we’ve done and yes there will be I believe sins brought up there, but as far as our salvation is concerned, they are forgotten. So they will never be brought up against you as far as whether you go to heaven or hell. That is the case on that.
If you have a school field bible in Romans, it has a wonderful note about the three tenses of salvation. The penalty of sin, the power of sin, and the presence of sin, the penalty for sin was paid for it to cross and that’s passed and our sins are forgotten. The power of sin, that is a daily situation where we have the Holy Spirit in us to give us victory over the power of sin. But the future tense is wonderful once we die or with the Lord we’re delivered from the presence of sin.
We’ll never be in the presence of sin or experience sin again. So you mean what you’re trying to say then I guess it’s like so God says he’ll remember are sins no more you’re saying that that means as far as salvation goes but yet he still does remember him to give us some type of punishment for them that’s that’s correct well that’s kind of bad and because I would have a lot of punishment coming to me that’s why we just that’s kind of that’s kind of scares me actually doctor mentioned because of I’m trusting on the fact that if God says he remembers and no more than once I repented of those sins and told Jesus I’m I’m sorry to forgive me and then I’m really struggling hard not to do certain sins anymore.
Then I’m hoping he’ll give me the power to overcome that but at the same time if he promise not to remember him I’m hoping that he doesn’t remember them so I don’t have any punishment against me when I get there. Well I wish I could just tell you that we weren’t going to have any problems ahead of us but that’s every believer is going to have to stand before the Lord and give an account and the The Bible gives those warnings throughout that we need to be aware of that and take that seriously because there is a day coming when everything we’ve done will be brought up.
What we’ve spoken in the closet, the Bible says it will be shouted from the rooftop. Everybody’s going to hear it and know it once we stand before the war at that time. That’s when he’ll judge us. So I mean like I guess I still I’m still struggling with it. If he said that he remembers him no more, I mean God’s word is firm. So to remember it no more means he doesn’t remember. I just I guess I’m still struggling with that part.
Okay, you have to just really take a fresh look at it and see it as three tenses because the past tense of as far as the penalty for sin. They’re forgiven forgotten and gone gone gone and you’ll never have anything brought up against you that would condemn you to help. That has been forgotten. and paid for by Christ and we don’t have to worry about it. I’m out of time. I sure hope you all keep looking up and join us again tomorrow Lord willing for here.
But have a wonderful day. Keep looking up. Jesus is coming and we’ll be back. Lord willing tomorrow again. Thank you Sophia and Jacksonville for calling in. When sometimes I would buy books and I’d be so disappointed the cover looked good.
It It looked like it was going to be a treasure. The title was good and it just was so appealing to the site. But when I read Inside, it was nothing but fluff. We recommend books that are really going to help you. And that’s what we have in our Resource Center. And they are great. We have something new. We have the life of Martin Luther, the Reformer. It’s on DVD. It’s a movie. We don’t have a forgive of $10.
