Also we will be taking live callers. We hope that you’ll call in and be a part of the program today. That phone number is 1-800-576-3771. 1-800-576-3771. got some great books in our resource center. One is a real heavy paper really nicely done. It’s like a National Geographic and it explores the case of the Exodus.
It’s called, in fact, the case of the Exodus in there. There are pictures from scuba divers, cameras of the chariot wheels. Apparently, they believe from the Exodus out of Egypt. And you can see it, You can see it, the spoke pattern of those wheels that are sitting right on the bottom of the Red Sea are the same spoke pattern as those in the Egyptian Cairo Museum of the Chariots of Pharaoh’s Day. Amazing. They’re actually discovering evidence of the exodus.
And you’ll find this book fascinating because it’s very thick and it’s very, very thorough on the search for the Exodus route, including a rock that is huge, that is like the one that the Bible describes that the water came out of when God provided water. It has a cleft in that rock and you can see from the photographs that water apparently at one time flowed forth out of this rock. That’s anything that’s speculated about and think about, but that is the one among many that we have in our Resource Center you’ll find interesting.
We have also some wonderful books by Merle Unger. His New Testament teaching on tongues, Slamdunk’s, the whole tongues movement today, and just points out that the real gift was in own language and ceased at the end of the first century and he exegetes chapters 12, 13, and 14 of the book of 1 Corinthians does an excellent job. We also have his Bible dictionary, his Bible Encyclopedia, and numerous other books by Merle Unger that are really, really worthwhile. If you want to have a nice coverage of doctrine, we have the Basic Theology by Charles Wryry.
That is an excellent. I think it’s for a gift of thirty dollars and what a nice piece to have on your shelf when you’re doing any type of study. It’s an excellent, excellent book. We also have one called the Handbook of Theology by M’s and that’s another excellent one that I recommend highly and I think you’ll find that very helpful to have on your shelf as well. And in addition we have the Schofield Bibles. If you’re going to give one of those for a Christmas gift, you need to get going here because time is running out and we hope we don’t run out of stock.
It’s getting harder and harder to get the old Scofield reference Bible and we hope that you will get one time for Christmas. We have everything from softback to hardback to leather and regular print and then large print. We’ve got quite a selection and we hope the whole choose from that. If you can’t get by and visit our resource center, which is open every day till about 4.30, you can go online and look at our online bookstore and everything is sitting right there for you.
So take a look at that. Also, if you don’t have a church home, you can actually worship with us on Sunday morning by clicking on the camera on the homepage and you’ll be connected to our worship service if you go there at 11 o’clock on Sunday morning. And of course, if you go there at 8 o’clock, Any other time of the week you will be connected to the archives and you can watch the past 51 weeks of sermons. They’re all set there.
We’re ready to mail out and we will be mailing out probably today the sermons for the month of October and we do that every month. If you want to be on that subscription list and would like to have all the sermons on CV each month, you can not only order it for just the month of October but you can just set it up so it automatically comes to you every month and you’ll get all the sermons on CD. Plus you can go back and if you want get the whole year of 2006.
We have a special price on that and you can get 52 CDs, 52 pretty much 52 hours of teaching for a great bargain and you might want to think about those things. Lots of things here that you can use, including the book on evangelism that’s the greatest in all the world. For a gift of $12, that’s the handbook on personal evangelism. Anyway, we’re going to get into the Bible and hopefully if you have a question you’ll call in and we’ll be able to talk about the Scriptures.
We’re going to talk about today Matthew chapter 25. The Bible says in 2 Timothy 2.15 to study, to show yourself approved as a workman, a a workman, not a bookworm, a workman, not a bookworm, a workman that need not to be ashamed is talking about the Judgement Seed of Christ. And as you work according to the workbook, the Bible, then you don’t have to be ashamed when you stand before him because you’ve been doing things by the book. And it says there in the last phrase, rightly dividing the word of truth.
That means setting the truths of God’s Word in right order. A lot of Bible teaching is confusing because they haven’t ever learned to rightly divide. The question comes up in Matthew 25 about the unprofitable servant. It says in Matthew 25 verse 30, cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” Well a lot of people say, and I believe the weeping gnashing and the outer darkness is talking about hell, and you say, well, was he a saved person, a unprofitable servant, and then cast out or lost?
Well before we actually look at the text and practice here what we call rightly dividing the word, let’s first of all, and here’s a basic rule of interpreting the Bible. The science of interpreting your Bible is called hermeneutics. That’s a big Greek word, but it means how do you interpret your Bible. And you always interpret a difficult verse in a lot of a clear one. So if you have a difficult verse, don’t ever make it contradict a clear verse, but rather interpret the difficult verse in a lot of a clear verse and you’re always going to come out on top.
So let’s go to John 6, 37, and there Jesus makes a promise. He says, Him that cometh to me, I will in no wise cast out. Okay, that’s plain, that’s simple. You can understand it. No mystery to that statement. He that cometh to me, I will in no wise cast out. So if we apply that rule here, this cannot be a believer this being cast out because Christ promises that He’ll never cast out anyone who comes to Him. So Matthew 2530, the unprofitable servant who’s cast out, cannot be a believer.
We know that right up front. How do we know? Well, we’ve applied this rule of interpreting the Bible. That is to take a difficult verse and interpret in the light of a clear one and you always come out on top. But now we’re going to go back and see what the actual text says. We’ll find support. We’ll find that we come out with the same answer. You’ll notice here three different persons and he gives each one talents to invest.
He gave the first one, 5 talents, to another 2 and to another 1, to every man according to his several ability and straight way he took his journey. But when in this parable Christ comes back, He says to the first one, Verse 21, he said, Well done, Thou good and faithful servant. Now has been faithful over a few things. I’ll make the ruler over many things, interth Thou into the joy of Thy Lord. Well, here again, now we need the right to divide.
He says here, Well done, Thou good and faithful servant. Stop. There are two things going on here. When he calls him a good servant, that means he’s saved. It says in Romans 3, There is none that doeth good, no not one. So there is none good. We are all sinners. We have all come short of the glory of God. So for someone to be called good, they have to be saved because it is God’s goodness or righteousness that is credited to the account of the believer.
And so when somebody is described as good in the Bible, it is because they are righteous based upon Christ’s subsidiary death at the cross of Calvary. In Matthew 19, the rich young ruler comes to Christ and says, good master. Jesus stops him in his tracks and says, why did you call me good? There is none good but one and that is God. So obviously he wanted to bring attention to the fact that everybody is a sinner and also that Jesus himself is God.
No doubt about it. So here we have a man who is saved. He is considered good. But then it says he’s faithful. That has to do with the Christian life. And so because he’s faithful after he became righteous by faith, because he is righteous, we find he goes to heaven, but because he is faithful, he gets rewarded. Let’s look at the verse here and you’ll see it. It says, well done, about good and faithful. Good meaning he’s saved. He’s a believer and therefore good or righteous and faithful.
And it says, now I’ve been faithful over a few things. I’ll make the rule over many things. So ruling over many things is a result of being faithful. And then the last phrase says, inner thou into the joy of thy Lord. So he’s able to enter heaven because he was good or because he was a believer, but he’s rewarded based upon his faithfulness. It’s that simple. Notice how easy it is. The second fellow, the same thing as told him in verse 23, 3.
Well done, thou good, he’s saved. He’s righteous in God’s sight because of faith in Christ. He’s also faithful. So he enters the joy of the Lord by being righteous or saved, a believer, but he’s rewarded for his faithfulness. Then we get down to the unprofitable servant, and it says in verse 26, he talks to him and says, thou wicked, thou wicked and slothful. Now interestingly here, he calls him wicked. Every unbeliever is wicked in God’s sight because they are standing before God in their own righteousness which the Bible describes as wickedness.
I used to think when I first began to study my Bible that the wicked were those who committed heinous crimes and they were in a maximum security prison in Bobwire and gun towers and lots of steel bars and these people could never be let out into society again, not so So your neighbor who might be the nicest guy in all the world, without Christ, is wicked. And so here’s a man who is described as an unbeliever. He’s wicked, he’s not saved, he’s not good or righteous, which comes to all believers upon trusting Christ as Savior.
But not only that, he’s slothful. So instead of being faithful, he’s slothful. And you’ve ever seen that animal called a sloth? They don’t move very fast. They don’t do very much. It might take them all day to move a few feet if they can even go that fast. They’re very slow. And so here he was apparently lazy or slow and didn’t accomplish much. And so he is cast into outer darkness. There’s weeping in ash and peace. This is hell because he’s an unbeliever.
But also he’s assigned a degree in hell because of his sloughfulness. So there’s two things going on here in the case of all three, and you have to rightly divide the word. But as we showed earlier, we knew right up front that the unprofitable servant was not a believer because Christ does not cast out believers. Once you become a believer, you’re saved forever. So he’s cast out because he’s wicked because he’s an unbeliever, but then he’s dealt a degree of punishment and hell based upon his slothfulness.
of ones who became believers that were considered good or righteous, enters heaven, and they are rewarded for their faithfulness. A little lesson here in rightly dividing the word of truth. If you go to my website and you go to the home page on the left side, I have three online books that you can read right on my website. The second of those is called rightly dividing the word of truth by Dr. C. I. Schofield. That is invaluable in learning the techniques of taking a passage apart like we just did today on Bibleline.
Dr. Englimstrum, we’re now going to go to the phone callers. We invite you to call us. The number is 1-800-576-3771. We’re almost finalized on our trip to Israel. We’re going to have a wonderful trip. It will leave the last week of February. Return in the end of the first week of March. We’ll return on Friday, March 7th, leaving the Monday of the last week of February. We’d love to have you go. We should know very shortly exactly the We’re just now getting confirmations from the hotels and we’re going to spend a wonderful day down at the Dead Sea.
You’ll get a chance to visit in Getty where David would like to go and you see the water falls there and the wildlife there along the edge of the Dead Sea. You get to climb Masada or hopefully ride the cable car with us as we go to the top for this plateau where this particular place was where the last Jewish people held out. When Rome came against the Jews in AD 70, these Jews held out to AD 73. And finally, all took their lives rather than become slaves and a victory trophy to the Romans.
And we’ll go down and float. You can’t really swim in the Dead Sea. It’s so buoyant that I was able to lay on the water, put an 8-pound rock on my stomach, and still have my arms and feet up out of the water. It’s fun. It’s exciting. And we’ll have a wonderful, beautiful dinner in a lovely hotel right there on the Dead Sea. And we’ll have a great day spending a day on the area of the Dead Sea exploring up and down and seeing Coomerun also where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found.
It’ll be a great time. I’m just telling you about one of the days of this wonderful trip and we’ll be studying the Bible the whole way. And we’ll have brochures very shortly and we’ll want to mail one out to you. Call us, get your name on our list, and we’ll mail you brochures as soon as they arrive to us. We have Wilbert in St. Petersburg, Florida. Wilbert, welcome to Bibleline. You’re on the air. Oh, good morning, doctor. I just have a question.
I know it’s in there, but I just wanted a little interest in the air. and again that phone was 1-800-576-3771. That’s Genesis chapter 6 verse 4 and is talking there about in the days when God said he was going to destroy the earth by a fund that while the ark was being prepared the Holy Spirit was dealing with people convicting them of their need of Christ and yet no persons got saved. Only no one’s family were saved and those eight people were the only ones to enter the Ark.
In other words, once you die, it’s too late. Once the flood came and these people all drowned, all the unsaved on the Earth drowned, then the Holy Spirit didn’t try to get them to be saved after that. Once you die, it’s too late. And it’s something you have to deal with before you die. Well, well, Penn has her to for you, Genesis 6, 4, and the Holy Spirit dealt with them the entire time while the ark was preparing. They had opportunity to change their mind and trust the Lord Jesus as their Savior.
We’re now going to go to Mike in my Yaka floor. And Mike, welcome to Bibleline Your On The Air. Hey, how are you, Dr. Han? Good. Hey, I got a question for you. You’re helping me confirm? I don’t normally read anybody’s books because everybody has a tendency to have their own private interpretation of the scripture. And even you’re doing the same thing about those servants and Matthew you’re talking about? Yeah. The one word that’s all the same to consist in all three of them is they were all servants.
Right. And we need to go back and realize that we’re talking about the kingdom that’s going to be set up. We’re talking about Christ being the king and everybody in a society under the king is his servant, whether he saved or lost, whether he’s red, yellow, black, or white, whether he’s rich or poor, has nothing to do with it, whether he has a, uh, uh, poked out to his forehead or not. Uh, so every one of them are servants, but, uh, some of the servants were saved, and one obviously in this illustration was lost.
So the servant isn’t the common denominator, and that’s where, uh, many commentaries go astray. So when he says in Revelations that because you’re not hot or cold those weren’t people that were saved either right those were just people that know he’s talking there about saved and he’s not talking about them being lost as far as salvation but he would no longer use them as a lamp stand every one of the seven churches were a lamp stand or a candle actually the better word is lamp stand they were light in this world and so as a believer you can lose your testimony, you can lose your effectiveness, you can lose your rewards, you can even lose your life, but you cannot lose your salvation.
And he’s not talking about loss of salvation, but he says that last day church, which we’re living in right now, made Christ nauseous and he wanted to throw up. And he said he would rather that we were cold or hot, but lukewarm, middled the rotors, he said that that just turned him off. So it says in Matthew, also, he that is not with me is against me, you have to choose as a believer. The same thing true when the people came out of Egypt, when they were there in the wilderness.
Moses drew a line and said, who is on the Lord’s side? Step over the line. And those that weren’t, well many of them were killed. As the earth opened itself up and these people were swallowed up and died physically, they had already been redeemed from Egypt and I believe were saved, but they lost their lives. they didn’t step over the line, they didn’t choose, and those that stepped over the line were spared and those that did not were destroyed as the earth opened itself up.
So again, rightly divided in order to truth, we have people that are saved that will never be cast out, John 637, and that’s a great verse to remember, but in Revelation there he’s talking about rewards, and if you look at verse 17 and 18 he says, I want you to by gold tried in the fire that’s taking about rewards that will be tried by fire at the judge’s end of Christ and he wanted them to be rich but although they were rich materially and in this world today were considered rich here in american in particular were spiritually really bankrupt and so when we stand before the Lord there will be no rewards in heaven unless you have lived for Christ.
What does it mean when it says it’s the Bible is not open for private interpretation? Don’t you use scripture? Yes, of course. What it means is you don’t take it out of its context and just make it say whatever you want to say. If you read the context in Revelation 2 and 3, he’s talking to seven literal churches. He points out their faults and he talks about this last one as being one that was concentrating on physical riches, material riches and thought that they were okay.
We have that today a lot where people say, hey, I’m okay. And a lot of churches are judged as successful because they’re monetarily doing well. And that’s not the criteria. He said spiritually, you’re bankrupt, you’re naked, you’re poor. And he says, I’m asking you to listen to my advice and buy for yourself gold that will be tried in the fire, it will bring about reward when you stand before me. And then he talks about as many as I love, I rebuke and I chasten.
And so the key thing there, he’s talking about believers being chastened and rebuked by the Lord that they needed to get their lives on the ball. And then he invites them to have fellowship with him. Verse 20 is often used as a salvation verse. It’s not talking about salvation law. He says, behold, I stand at the door of knock. He’s knocking at the door of the church of Laodicea and he says, if you only open the door I’ll come in and fellowship with you.
And he wanted an intimate time with believers but they were thinking that they were okay without Jesus. And he said that you’re lukewarm and you make me want to throw up and I’m knocking on the door of your church, not your heart. Has nothing to do with salvation. But he says I’m knocking and if you’ll just open the door I’ll come in with you, come I’ll come in to you and I’ll have supper with you. That’s speaking of a meal and that’s usually a time of communion or fellowship, even as at the last supper.
That’s what he wants to have with you and me. What about the Christian? Do you think someone’s a Christian that walks away from the Lord, doesn’t want having else to do with him? Was married, goes and gets a girlfriend and still believes in the Lord. Still trusting me is the Savior and will tell you it doesn’t matter what I’m doing. I’m saved and nothing can change that. Well let me just tell you what happens. If he is genuinely a believer he can’t get away with that.
Hebrews 12 verse 8 says if you are without God’s chastisement or discipline, where of all our partakers it says you are bastard. He’s a pretty strong word in the King James and not one of my sons. In other words, you’re illegitimately claiming to be born again and being a child of my family. If you can live with you, please not only interfere. God is going to spank that individual and if he’s not having God interfere in his life and things aren’t going wrong for him, then it shows that he’s a bastard and he’s not really a child of God.
So I’ve used that with people and I’ve seen their face just turn white as they realize that nothing is happening in way of God’s discipline them so they come to the quick realization that they are not a believer because you cannot live as you please as a believer and get away with it. Okay then maybe that’s where I’m getting confused on some of your doctor. Maybe you need to play me. What actually constitutes salvation and if you’re saying, I thought before you said if they confess with them out leaving their heart, you know, the Lord Jesus they’ll be saved.
But then they do that and then they still continue living like they were like basically the Metropolitan Church. They’re homosexual in their behavior, but yet their confessing Christ is the Lord and Savior, but yet they don’t treat Him as such. They don’t change any. There’s no fruit, meatful repentance. So you’re saying they weren’t saved to start with. Probably not because these people are dying left and right. Obviously the Lord will physically take you out of here. In Hebrews 12-8 read that one very carefully.
The Lord loves and chases all of those that are his sons and if you’re a true son of God you cannot live as you please. We’re going to have to go to break. It’s amazing how quickly that break time comes but we’re going to come back into a second and a half hour and Mike thank you for calling and we’ll be back in just a minute. Go away. And Mike, thank you for holding through the break and hopefully we’ve been able to answer a few of those questions.
Hebrews 12 is so powerful that it’s something that every believer ought to be alert to because you cannot live as you please, for whom the Lord loves verse 6, he chases and scourges. Now, scourging is a violent approach where God might really have to get tough with you. And that might mean you might hit you over there with the two before, or you might be taking home to heaven early. And in verse 8 says, if you be without chastisement or discipline by the Lord, what of all of his sons are partakers?
You’re a bastard and not a son. So anybody that can live as they please and God does not interfere, it proves that they’re not a child of God. And God, I have it all the time, especially with brand new believers. They tell me, Hank, you know, everything was going smooth in my life until I trusted Christ. And now things are getting a bit rocky. And I said, that proves you’re born again because once you get saved, God is going to interfere in your life and it’s not going to be as smooth as the sailing as it was.
That’s because God wants to knock off the rough edges and get you on track aimed in the right direction so that he can bless you and reward you by your being faithfully led in the right direction and serving him. So Mike, good to have you on the air and let’s pick up where we were. Okay, I appreciate that. See, maybe I misunderstood. I thought you believed that anyone confessed Jesus, you know, no matter how the Lord was they lived, they were automatically a shoe in for heaven.
Well, I believe that it’s true that you are saved by faith and not by works. And once you get saved, you’re saved forever. You won’t be lost, but you will possibly suffer God’s discipline and maybe you’re going to have it early. And you see it through the whole Bible. David cried out in the 51st Psalm and he said he had been chasing the sore. And he was asking for the Lord. He said, restore him to me the joy of my salvation.
He loses salvation, but he lost the joy of that salvation. He was miserable. God really beat him up after that Bathsheba incident. He confesses his sins in chapter 51 of Psalms and he asked the Lord, please restore to me the joy that I had once before. Yeah, well, maybe that’s where I was confused about your adopting because I listened to you interpret scripture but I normally you’ll latch on to one scripture and that’s the one you say this is because of this scripture we can’t interpret this scripture but I like writing them all out you know and anything to do with the same you know like God’s married to the backslide or you know if it has no flavor left you know if it’s not worth any of you taking spot and problem in the foot I like and I put an outlet in the scripture, interpret scripture.
That’s why I don’t read anybody’s books. I think you’re on the right track and you had a great series of questions today. Thank you very much. I appreciate you taking the time with me. Keep listening. I already think you’re Mike. It was Mike and Mike in Florida. We now have Chris in St. Petersburg and Chris welcome to Vibon. You’re on the air. Hi. My name is Chris. I’m from St. Petersburg. and I don’t really belong to any congregation or anything like that, but I am a believer in the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
And I believe in one of the old ancient texts Jesus was talking to his disciples and he said, you do air not knowing the scriptures. When you think about it, back at that time, what scriptures did they have? the only thing they had with the five books of Moses? Well no, not true. They had the whole Old Testament. Jesus said, that’s a quote from Matthew chapter 22, and he’s referring to the Old Testament scriptures. That’s everything from Genesis to Malachi.
Of course, in the Jewish arrangement of the Bible, they have the same books we have, but it would be Genesis to 2 Chronicles, which is the last in the order of the way they arrange their Bible. But they still have the 39 books that we have, and all 39 books were referred to in that statement by christ so they have all the estimate you five seven team now it says do not think that i came to destroy the the law of the profits it might be a book it probably says law but in my book it says the Torah of the profits because uh…
this is uh… from a Hebrew roots right it really refers to the whole and terrible testament the lobbying the Torah the first five books and then the rest of the bible the profits uh… taking all the way to malachai The dead says, you know, and says, I did not come to the I say to you to heaven and earth pass away one jot or one tittle, killed by no means passed from the Torah. So I don’t think all is done yet and look, have not passed away.
And it says who leads to these commands, and teaches men to do so shall be called least in the reign of the heavens. But whoever does and teaches them the commands, he shall be called great in the reign of the Right, exactly. Now what Christ is talking about there is He came to fulfill Scripture. Micah the prophet said He’d be born in Bethlehem. He was. Isaiah 714 said He’d be born of a virgin. He was. And there are about 330 prophecies about the first coming of Christ that have all been literally fulfilled as you read through Matthew’s Gospel.
He uses that word fulfilled, fulfilled, fulfilled, fulfilled, fulfilled numerous times as Christ came and fulfilled the prophecies of his coming. There are still prophecies unfulfilled about his second coming and we believe we are about ready to see those take place in the world today. And obviously many of the things that Christ spoke of that would be signs of his second coming are happening right now in the news. The fact that there are wars and rumors of wars, that there are lots of false religious systems out there that are deceiving people.
He says, don’t be deceived. Many will say, I am Christ and come in my name and deceive many. There’s famines today in many parts of the world. There are pestilences, famine or rather drought in Georgia has caused a great problem for Florida, Alabama and Georgia because of this lack of rain. They were almost hoping that a hurricane would come up through the area of Georgia and then fill the reservoirs again with water. California burning up and all the other things in curable diseases.
We’re seeing a lot of those things that are still yet to be fulfilled, about to take place before our very eyes right now. And of course, Christ could come back and rule on this earth for a thousand years and then finally destroy this earth by fire and create a new heavens and new earth. So you’re absolutely right. But it is not saying that you and I have to do any of those things to be saved. Christ is the one who kept the law.
He’s the only one who ever did. And when you trust Jesus as your Savior, His righteousness is credited to your account. So you become righteous in God’s sight when you trust Jesus as your Savior. Well, that’s exactly what my point is that the whole Christian church is not following the commands because they’re not fulfilling Torah. They’re not doing the Sabbath on Saturday. They’re all doing it on Sunday. Well, that’s the correct thing to do. You know, the Sabbath was given to Israel not to us Gentiles.
And in Colossians 2.16 it says, don’t let any man judge you in respect to the Sabbath. The seventh was a prophetic picture of what God was going to do for Israel and that as God rested on the seventh day there is a day called the Day of the Lord that all the major minor prophets talk about that is a thousand year day when Israel will be the head nation on the earth during that day. And this is not a Gentile thing at all.
And as believers we have been set to worship on the first day of the week as Christ himself came back from the dead on the first day and appeared on the first day the next week and then Pentecost that began this church age began on a Sunday and if you read through accidentally and the epistles of Paul the early church met on the first day not on Saturday. Nowhere does it ever tell us to worship on Saturday. If you read Exodus 31 it says this was a sign just like the rainbow was a sign.
The Sabbath is a sign of God’s relationship between Israel in himself, and he’s still going to fulfill his promises, and there still will be a kingdom that is going to be represented by that seventh day, but it will be a thousand year day as the Lord will rule on us for a thousand years. I’m sure to thank you for your call, and obviously if you’re thinking we have to worship, you know the Seventh Adventists really make such a big deal out of this.
They say that if you worship on Saturday, that’s the mark of the living God, but if you worship on Sunday, that’s the mark of the beast. So they condemn everybody who worships on Sunday. And the Biles has clearly in Colossians 2, 14 through 16 that let no man therefore judge you in respect to those things that are in the Torah, the law where you were to eat or not eat certain things and observe holy days and observe the Sabbath.
It says Christ took those things and nailed them to his cross and took them out of the way. We’re now going And George in 7 Springs, Florida. That sounds like a real nice place to go. George, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Hey there, Dr. Langstrom. How are you today? Good. I got a quick statement. Well, first off, two segments. Your last two callers, some great questions and some even battery answers. Also, I was looking at the CNN website yesterday, two days ago, and they had a story in there about a church in Tampa where the pastor is actually using some of the writings of El Han Hubbard and Scientology to help his congregation.
I just want to, I don’t think it’s right myself, I just want to get your input. Oh, I think this is a real good example of where our churches are going today. They’re departing from the Bible. You know it says that in 2 Timothy chapter 4 they would turn away their ears from the truth and be turned unto fables, out, not lies. And that’s sad. That is really sad. Nowhere does the Bible tell us to follow the teachings of Ron Hubbard, the founder of Scientology.
That is a really perverted group and obviously deceiving a lot of folks. But we need to get back to the Bible and preachers who are in their Bible could never, never do anything like that. This man is obviously probably keeping his Bible closed and on the shelf and is trying to introduce new things to the tickle the ears of the people. And that’s what it says in 2 Timothy 4 and verse 3. That they would heap to themselves teachers having itching ears.
They wanted to have their ears tickled and they turn away their ears from the truth and we turn on the fables Christ or cry here in this case Paul through the Holy Spirit predicts exactly what we see today in the modern church. Sure. Do you think you’re calling in? Did you happen to read that article? No, I didn’t. What day was that? Did I come out? It came off of CNN.com and then up at the search just typed in Scientology and it was like the very first article you had.
It was about a church in Tampa and the pastor’s daughter called themselves. Dr. Hank Lindstrom. Thank you for sharing that with us. I will look at it on my internet and check that out. Thank you for that call from 7 Springs, Florida. George, we have Carol now in Tarpon Springs. Carol, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Hey, how are you? Good. Hey, I called the other day about, um, Experiencing a lot of my colleagues and friends are introducing a metaphysiology to me.
My name is Carol. I don’t know if you remember, but I really don’t know how to minister to them because it seems like every time that I’m in their presence, they’re sending me to websites like Abraham Hicks and things like that. Are you familiar with that website? I’m not for you, would I say no. You might want to check it out, it’s called abrham-hix.com. And my daughter looked at it yesterday while I was in the car. And she was reading some of it over the phone to me.
But I want to be able to say, you know, have you read your Bible? Because I don’t think they have. And also be able to give them, when I say to them, have you read your Bible? Do you know that all the prophecy that was predicted has come to pass, but they sort of seem closed ears. There is no hell, and this is it right here and things like that. Oh boy, well, you have your work cut out for you.
I have several things that we recommend. We have a book here called Evidence, the demands of verdict that really, really establishes the factualness of the Bible, the accuracy of the Bible, the fulfillment of prophecy and accuracy in area of science and other things that’s very powerful by Josh McDowell. We have that plus the CD that I have called, How Permanent is Your Salvation, has led so many people to Christ. If you get one of those into their hands and if they actually listen to it, there’s a good chance of getting saved.
We’ve just had so many respond favorably to that. Of course, the book on evangelism we have actually gives you ideas as to how to introduce conversations, what to say and what they might respond with and how you might respond to that. It’s really a great book on the one-on-one witness. Let me encourage you to get that handbook on evangelism. We have it also in Spanish for those that might want to copy in the Spanish language. we have our tracks in Spanish as well as English that really are great also in leading people to Christ.
Here I’ll be praying for you. That sounds like you got a real group to witness to that need it desperately. Well I know and this is hard because I work with them and I really don’t want to lose them. I you know because I said look I’m a Christian and I really you know I don’t want to be looking at any websites if it’s you know it’s gonna you know sway me from my faith or talk that he said oh no it’s not anything to do with your faith It’s just good, you know, writings and things for you to study to help you.
But you know what? I need to get stronger in my faith and get more into the Word. Well, you know, I’ll donate some of these, how permanent is to you. Just talk to my operator right now and give them out to what happens. Just say, here’s what I believe. Would you listen to the CD you’re asking me to look up things? Would you listen to what I have to share with you? That’s good. That’s perfect. Okay. So what do you want me to do now just let my operator take this call from me I just how old on the line I’m gonna hang you up But he’s gonna get you and we’ll get your address will may some of these and go go at it and let’s lead him to Christ All right.
Thank you very very much. All right, and that was our color from Tarpon’s phrase we have Landry now in Tampa, Florida and Landry welcome to Bibleline you are on the air Hello. Hey. My name is Lao-e. I’m from Tampa, Florida. Yes, sir? Lao-e. Yes, you’re on the air. Yes. I just want to contribute a little to the discussion on air. Okay. I, first of all, want to commend you for what you are doing. It is wonderful, and God will continue to bless you.
See, the Holy Spirit, the Holy Ghost, makes difference in the life of the believer. Now, in the Bible, somewhere in the Bible, it’s sin, just outside sex. There’s people that call me, but they are hot up from me. Then it says somewhere in the Bible also that… Not all who call me Lord will make my kingdom. And somewhere else in the Bible says, here is born again, does not continue to lead in sin. And somewhere again I take the book of Luke, it says, on that day they will come to me and say, they do not speak from your name, they do not do that from your name.
I am going to defend. Get away from me you work out of iniquity. The victim is professed to be believer. wanting that Paul asked this believer that in Acts 19 to 1, have you received the Holy Ghost since you believed? That particular verse is in Acts 19, and it really should read when you believed. These guys were unsaved there in Acts 19. You quoted quite a lot of different verses, and you’re absolutely right. There’s a lot of folks who claim to be Christian who are not.
We were talking about that earlier. And if they attempt to live as they please, God will discipline them. And if God does not discipline them, it demonstrates that their bastards and not sons, not born again at all. But the Holy Spirit comes and dwells every believer, but nowhere does the Bible ever teach that we as believers can live sinless. Now our new nature, which is of the new birth, cannot sin at all. But we still have a new old nature that remains with us until we die.
You know Paul in Romans 7 verse 18 says, I know that in me that is in my flesh dwelleth no good thing. So he recognized that he had this sinful nature inherited from Adam that dwelleth in him and that hindered his trying to fully live for Christ as he wanted to. He says to will is present with me, but how to perform that which is good I find that. the good that I would, I do not, but the evil that I would not that I do.
So he had this conflict between good and evil and every believer has that struggle. And the Holy Spirit helps us to have victory over sin, but we can never live sin free. Sure to thank you for that call and obviously you took us to lots of different verses to think about, but it’s true that there are the wheat and the tears, those that are genuine Christians described as wheat and those that are tears that look like Christians that are not Christians and definitely have a host of those out there today.
We have so many offer questions we haven’t gotten to this week. I’m embarrassed that we are holding you off, but we’ve had so many live calls. It’s been very difficult. We have Dr. Anonymous in the land, Florida, and Dr. Anonymous, welcome to Bible End. How you doing, Dr. Hank? Are you in the land floor or are you just playing with us? Amen, I’m not rolling, man. You’re roaming out there and you get that far away from home, I’m surprised.
Hey, I only had one cup of coffee this morning. Is that right? Well, what can I do for you today, Dr. Namas? Hey, listen, I was here and you talked to some of your callers and some of the questions were addressed and it was having problems. The other people live and I think we needed this focus on ourselves because there’s some people that’s not saved at all. you know and there’s something that’s saving their struggling so it was a little bit about the sales i think they did**************** a bit and uh…
it’s one other question if we why why are you always this is not not that really mean where you know i mean you know that that they did that with all the one god ain’t with them that i thought that you have a little bitribute you know you’re i think you’re coming over to my side here doctor no one sees uh… seem to be uh… on the same page with me here lately that’s great sure to thank you for that call and i can’t believe you got that far from your your home base uh…
the land is over on the east coast of florida uh… maybe you went surfing with that high wind from the hurricane is buzzed on by anyway good to hear from you thank you for calling in we uh… hope that every one of you i will enjoy the weekend hope you attend church someplace Hopefully you can find a good Bible-believing teaching church, which is what you need. We have an article I’ve written called, Beliefs That Matter, where we have some of the basic doctrines that I sound at church ought to embrace.
It’s a good way to go out on your search to find a good church. Also, we hope that every one of you have trusted Christ as your Savior. If you haven’t, just tell the Lord, Lord, I’m a sinner. I don’t understand much, but I believe Jesus died for me, and I trust Christ right now as my Savior, trusting that His death and shed blood paid my sin, death and full. And I trust Christ as my only means of reaching home.
God will save you the moment you trust Him alone as your Savior. Also Bible, I need your support if you can help us out. We are really trying to get the gospel out and get the word out into as many as we can. We are Not funded by any groups or corporations or we’re just funded by listeners who love the program. We want to see it continue. God bless all of you. I mean really this is a miracle and I think it’s biblical.

I want to welcome those new folks up in Scranton, Pennsylvania, that have been on the air now for a few weeks. We’d love to hear from some of you guys this coming week. You can enjoy them again on the Internet if you go to BibleLineMinistries.org or .com, and you might want to do that. By the way, we have some wonderful resources we mentioned earlier today. The book called The Exodus Case Thick and just like a National Geographic in Quality, showing pictures of the bottom of the Red Sea and the cherry wheels that are encrusted with coral from the time of the Exodus.
Amazing stuff. The rock. Take a look at that thing in this huge size and the cleft of that rock and the evidence that water flowed out of that rock at one time. Could that be the rock where God gave water to the chill of Israel in the wilderness when the Exodus took place? Exciting stuff really being discovered today. We’ve got also another beautiful book like that, a heavy think paper just like the National Geographic in Quality called The Handbook of the Bible by Zandervin.
Really excellent and a great conversation to have on your coffee table. I think it’s for only a gift of $20. We also have lots of CDs, teachings of mine, 10 to 12 hours of teaching. I’ve taught at three different Bible colleges and 11 years from Moody Bible Institute of Chicago. I think you’ll enjoy these teachings. We just finished John’s Gospel, 20 hours of teaching. We broke it up so you could get 10 hours in a nice cassette book jacket that holds the 10 and keeps them organized for a gift of 50.
