We’re going to turn in our Bibles to James chapter 2 this morning. James is a passage where people seem to get confused as they read the phrase, Faith Without Works is dead. And they wrongly conclude that a dead faith means no faith, that means no salvation. That’s not what it’s saying. you really have to go back to defining the term death as it’s used in the Bible. Physical death is the separation of your soul from your body, but you’re still alive.

Even though your body is not alive, your soul is an ever-living soul. The Bible tells us that it will live forever with the Lord or separated from God in Hell. The second death of the Bible describes is the separation of your soul from God in hell forever and ever and ever and ever. And that is of course the eternal death, the second death the Bible describes. The Bible teaches that if you’re born once you’ll die twice, but if you’re born twice you’ll die once.

And maybe not even at one time because there is a group that’s an exception that those that are living at the rapture will be caught up to meet the Lord in the air and be in a group that will never die. So let’s say that you have only been born once. That is the physical birth is all you have. Well you will experience physical death, the separation of your soul from your body. And after Satan is cast into hell, by the way, there’s nobody in hell right now.

Did you know that? It says in Matthew’s Gospel, chapter 25 verse 41, depart from a ye cursed into everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels. So hell is prepared for Satan and his angels and those that are unsaved of mankind will be cast in only after Satan has been cast in. And when is Satan cast in to hell? That will be at the end of the thousand year reign of Christ, which is still to come. We believe the next of the God’s program is the Rapture.

When all living believers on the earth will be caught up to meet the Lord in the air. And in the seven years of the darkest hours of human history will follow, being culminated with the Battle of Armageddon, a nuclear world war that will take a third. of all the lives on the planet earth. Wow. Can you imagine? That means probably over 2 billion people. 2 billion people. Did you hear me? 2 billion people died at the Battle of Armageddon.

We were terribly disturbed and moved. When 3500 died in the 9-11 incident, can you imagine 2 billion people plus killed at Armageddon? Jesus comes back and then takes over the armies of this world and takes over the planet and becomes a comes king over the earth and the earth is finally at peace. Just like the angels announced peace on earth, good will toward men, it finally comes to pass seven years after the rapture. At the end of that thousand year kingdom, a peace satan is cast into the lake of fire, his angels are cast in, and then all of the lost of mankind will be brought up out of Hades where they are waiting, and then they will be assigned a degree of punishment according to their works and cast into the everlasting lake of fire.

So we know that if you are an unsaved person, you’ve only had the natural birth, you’ll experience physical death, and then what the Bible describes as the second death. In Revelation 20 verse 14 it says, Death and Hades delivered up the dead which were in them, and they were cast into the everlasting lake of fire. This is the second death. So the Bible defines the second death as being cast into the everlasting lake of fire. The Bible also tells us when you are a believer, when you’ve trusted Jesus Christ as your only hope of heaven, that you will never be hurt of the second death.

So a believer will never experience being cast into hell. The believer will never go to hell. What we mean by a believer is someone who has placed their trust in Jesus Christ as their personal Savior Trusting that they died that Christ died shed his blood and paid their sin debt and full was buried and rose again from the dead the moment you trust him God saves you eternally and the Bible promises in Revelation 211. You’ll never be hurt of the second death.

It’s equivalent to saying you’ll never go to hell. You’ll never go to hell, isn’t that great news? A believer can be assured of going to heaven and will never go to hell. But if you become a believer, you are born again, and if you have two births, the physical birth and the spiritual birth that occurs when you trust Christ, the Bible says you’ll only die once. You’ll never die the second death. You’ll never be cast into hell. But you might be in a group living at the time of the rapture and be exempted from death altogether because there will be a group that will never die, Jesus said, in John 11, 26.

So there’s a group that will be living when Christ returns, that will be believers in the Lord Jesus Christ of Savior, they’ll be saved, and they’ll be raptured out, and never die at all, just transformed into their new bodies on the way up to meet the Lord in the air. That’s exciting. And I hope to be in that group. I think we’re pretty close here and I think if everybody just stays healthy a little while longer if you’re a believer You’ll probably be in the rapture And you’ll be caught up to meet the Lord in the air But in any case when the Bible talks about death it doesn’t mean annihilation It doesn’t mean the end of the existence of that person It simply means separation you see physical death as we already defined it is the separation of your soul from your body.

That’s what is described as death. And the second death is the separation of your soul from God in hell forever. So the person doesn’t die in the sense that they are annihilated or ceased to exist. They are separated from their body at the first death and separated from God in the second death in hell forever and ever and ever. So what it says here in the book of James, Faith Without Works is Dead, as it means that you have been separated from faith in that your faith is isolated and has no means of demonstration.

It’s by our works that we’re able to show somebody else our faith. Now God knows that you have faith when you trust Christ as your Savior, but not everybody else does. For a year myself, I was a secret believer. I didn’t tell anybody. I gave no signs that I was a believer at all. And so it’s interesting that for a year nobody knew. Nobody knew that I was a believer. But I knew and God knew. And God began to work on me and He brought me to the place where I decided I would serve Him.

And then I began to share the Gospel of Christ and God began to use that and I led a lot of people to Christ while I was in college at the University of Florida. And that was the beginning. He uses the word profit in verse 14. What did that profit my brother? He’s talking to believers here. If you are a believer, you need to, as James says, have works or you will have a faith that is isolated, not being seen by anyone else in the human realm.

Therefore you will not have any rewards when you get to heaven. He uses the word prophet in verse 14. What did that prophet my brother? He is talking to believers here. If you don’t have any works, you’re not going to have any rewards in heaven. Rewards in heaven come by serving Christ. And so hopefully you will choose to live for Christ once you have trusted Him as your Savior. But it doesn’t mean that you don’t have faith. It says in verse 26, and this is the key I think to understanding that whole concept, it says as the body without the Spirit is dead in the same way faith without works is done.

If I were to drop dead right now, I’d still be very much alive, but you wouldn’t be able to know that because my body conveys to you that I’m alive. And because I could move and talk and wiggle and so on, you know that I’m living. But without my body, you can’t tell whether I’m alive or not. But yet my soul is. I have a soul that will be absent from the body, present with the Lord, 2 Corinthians 5 8, at the moment of death.

But it says there, Faith Without Works is dead. And it says that as the body without the Spirit is dead, so it’s in the same way that Faith Without Works is dead. So works are like my body. Works are the means by which I can convey the life of my faith, just as my body conveys the life of my soul. And so by my body moving about, you know my soul is alive, and by my work you know I have faith.

And that’s the way you earn rewards or able to impact other people for Christ. Every one of us ought to be living for serving Christ and in that way earning rewards. We’re excited about letting people know the truth about James. James is talking about believers here. My brother and my brother and my brother and my brother and my brother throughout the whole book. And he’s talking about believers about getting rewards in heaven that he warned them that they would have no profit, no rewards if they didn’t have any works.

We’re going to go to the phone lines here in just a moment. I’m Dr. Engdensford and this is a five-linence of money. We’re glad to be with you. We hope that you’re enjoying the program and we hope that you’ll tell your friends about it. And if you have a question, please call in 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. 1-800-576-3771. We have Claude and he is in Bronson, Ontario, Canada. And so you’re probably going to be the call of the furthest distance from Bible and headquarters today.

Welcome, Claude. You’re on the air. Good morning, Dr. Lindstrom. I was reading in some place in Corinthians, and Paul was talking about the believers’ invocitized for the dead. But what’s the meaning of that? Well, it’s not really clearly translated, but really what it means is if the old chapter about the resurrection of Christ. If Christ didn’t come back from the dead, then all their practices were in vain. It’s talking there about baptizing new converts, new believers in replacing those that were getting older now and dying.

Christianity goes on because we are to be winning our generation to Christ. Here they were baptizing believers to replace those who had already died. Every one of us in our lifetime ought to replace ourselves hopefully more than one time over. If you leave one person to Christ in your life, when you slip on into eternity, there’s somebody that takes you place. If you leave two, there will be three, and so on. Hopefully we will leave more than that. Really what it’s saying there, they were replacing the ranks of Christians who were dying by baptizing new believers, not that baptism saved, but it was a useless right if price did not rise from it in.

Okay, I’ve got a second question. What’s your name? Amazing fact. You know anything about him? Absolutely. He’s 7-bed menace and you want to stay far away from that amazing fact program. They don’t believe in hell. They believe in works for salvation, lose your salvation. If you worship on Sunday, you have the mark of the beast and so on and so on. So you don’t want to be any part of that amazing fact program. Okay, thank you. Thank you Claude up in Bronson, Ontario, Canada.

Good to have you on the air with us. If you want to call in, the phone number by the way is 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. If you have any friends down in South Florida, you can let them know we’re going to be on the air. They’re beginning November 26th in South Florida. We’ve been off the air down there for a while, but now we’re going back The frequency of the station is 1080 on the AM dial, the AM CU AM radio.

And that’s in Miami at 10 o’clock. Same time is here. So if you have friends in South Florida, anywhere on the east coast of Florida in the South Florida area, call them and tell them, get ready for the Bibleline. We’ll be coming live in South Florida anywhere from West palm down to marathon and the keys should hear us loud and clear. We hope that you’ll tell your friends down in that area about the Bible and program coming your way on 1080WMCU down in South Florida.

We are going to take some off-air questions here, but again, if you want to call in and be live with us, the phone number is 1-800-576-3771. Wiley in Bradenton Florida calls in it says in John 19 26 and 27 was Jesus talking about his mother or someone else’s mother and this is when Jesus on the cross talks basically here to John the Apostle who’s the writer of the book of John and John is modestly here disguising himself not making himself out to be somebody special but it says here in verse There stood by the cross of Jesus, his mother, and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas and Mary Magdalene.

When Jesus therefore saw his mother and the disciples standing by whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, woman, behold thyBUSY. Then he said to John the disciple, behold thy mother. And from that hour, that disciple took her under his own home. So basically, John here was being the designated caretaker for Mary, the mother of Jesus, the mother of the flesh that God took upon himself. So he’s talking about Mary now going to be with John. John passed through the church in Ephesus.

I’ve been there in Turkey. It was a powerful church in the days of early Christianity. And obviously one of the New Testament letters, the book of Ephesians, was written to those folks. And we find that Mary died in Ephesus and was buried there. So John took care of Mary as though he was his son and she was his mother. But John adopted her. Thank you for that question. It’s a good question and thank you so very much. We have, let’s see here, Bert in Miami and he leaves an offer question here in Exodus.

He speaks about his uncircumcised lips. Please explain. Well, he’s talking about basically that he had, I think, a speech problem and he had an impediment. And he didn’t feel capable. He didn’t feel like he was able to be God’s spokesperson. And we find that, of course, God told him that he would be with his mouth and he would tell him what to say. So it didn’t become a problem. We now have an anonymous caller from Texas and somewhere in Texas Anonymous is calling and welcome to Biblehead.

Yes, I have a question about Matthew 25, what it talks about, the guy with the 5,000, the 2 talents and then the 1 talent. Is that talking about money or is that talking about evangelism? Because I was just looking at it from the standpoint of a church and growing a church and I was trying to get your take on it whether it’s talking about evangelism or just financial. He’s talking about their financial investment and obviously the third one was not ever saved Sorry.

and that has caused some confusion because… The last one was cast into outer darkness and there was weeping, gnashing of teeth. That of course is hell. And some have imagined that he was a saved person, lost and cast out. Of course we know that’s not true. That’s not even possible. Because Jesus said in John 637 that he would not cast out anyone under any circumstances that comes to him. So once you’d come to Christ and trust him as your savior, you’re saved forever and cannot be undone.

But the last fellow was cast in the hell because he never trusted Christ as his Savior. Hopefully that helps and that’s really what he’s talking about there. Okay, so he can’t be talking about the fact that okay God had given to him bless them with a challenge that he was used for evangelism should I go ahead and just root at all? I would rule that out again because the talent there is a portion of money. So hopefully that will help you.

Thanks a lot from Texas. We don’t have Joe in Brandon, Florida and Joe, welcome to Bibleline You’re on the air. Yes, Pethra Hank, I have a question. With regarding the preaching the word, it seems to me that that’s just the same as actually witnessing. I know that Bible speaks against women per se preaching in the church. I was just wondering the differences that it would be if they were in front of some people and just there’s a witness and is it dangerous for women to preach or what are the differences in if there isn’t then why wouldn’t they be allowed to preach and not hang up and ask to listen to your stance of prayer.

……………… Okay, good question and I think the whole point is that women are not to take the position of leadership over men and certainly a pastor, if a woman is a pastor she would be over men spiritually and that is what is forbidden there in first Timothy. They are not to be the teachers or instructors or leaders or pastors, elders, deacons in the church. They are to be silent in the church. But of course, certainly they can evangelize and obviously women do a good job of doing that many times and leading people to Christ.

No problem there, the differences when they usurp authority over the man in becoming a leader over men. I had a dear lady that I got to meet at one time. She was a great Bible scholar and contributor to the Pilgrim Bible, which is a very good Bible. I don’t even know if it’s in print anymore, but it’s similar to the Scofield, and the notes are excellent in the Pilgrim Bible. I need to see if somebody is still printing that because it is an excellent reference Bible.

And she was a great teacher and whenever she had an audience that had any men in the audience at all, she would always say that I do not want to usurp the authority here over the men. If there’s any man that feels uncomfortable or would like to take over and teach this Bible study. Here’s my chair. And of course she was always a beginning. I wish you, obviously I think understood the principle and did not want to become a leader over men but simply taught his word and she was an excellent teacher.

And I had the privilege of leading her son to Christ. Her son was about 40 at the time and had never trusted the Lord and I got a chance to lead him to Christ. In any case, I hope that answers your question for you, Joe, and we thank you for calling in today. I thank Joe. I thank Joe hung up and was going to listen up here. And we’re going to go down to Anonymous in Florida. We have anonymous people all over the place.

Anonymous in Florida. Welcome. Hi. Hi. in Moses, since I believe I may have heard it on your program that he may be the other person who never died who might come back as one of those fire breathing people, the witnesses. And because you know the arch-angle angel Michael fighting over the body and so I went back and I looked and it said the body was buried. And that was kind of reading a little more since we also had seen Moses at the transfiguration.

That makes sense. But what happened to Moses’s children? The poorest children alive are in Gersham. And then going back from there, okay, we got Moses and Aaron, our brothers. And it’s only Aaron’s descendants that are priests. So when you go back then and look at Levi’s children, Gershine co-happened. Out of all those descendants, why didn’t the others get land? whatever happened to them and they weren’t there when Moses was buried. It doesn’t say anything about them. I think God did that privately and so nobody knows where his baro places.

I have been to Mount Pishka which is where he overlooked the land but Moses the Lord himself buried him and I think he’s preserving his body for that second coming. I’m out of time. We’re going to go here to break so keep your radio tune right where it is. come back to do a second half hour and don’t go away. I’ll be right back. Don’t go away. Bibleline will be back in a moment. Give us a call at 1-800-576-3771.

That’s 1-800-576-3771. Alright, I’m Dr. Engleins from It’s Great to be with you today. We sure enjoy being with you each and every day. I don’t want to thank all of you who make that possible because that’s That’s right, you all are the ones who keep us on the air because it’s your gifts that allow us to continue here on the air every day and that’s because we are listeners supported. gif your are listeners didn’t support us we be off the air in a heartbeat and so we do thank you all of you who listen and we appreciate you so very much and we thank God for you.

If you would like to help Bible on you could do that by giving a gift by mail or by credit card and we could really use your help. We are stretched out there and we are wanting to reach as many people as we can before Jesus returns. I truly believe that we are really getting close to the Lord’s return. I am not a date setter and I am not saying when he is coming back I don’t even have a date in my head, but I know that it’s got to be getting close.

Look at the world today and you know that Jesus is coming in and more than ever we need to get this message out. And you know the cults are really doing a great job in getting their message out. Unfortunately it’s a message that will take their listeners to hell because it’s a false message. But we need to really those of us who have the truth, proclaim it and get it out there as far as we can while we still have time.

If you’d like to help us you can do that by credit card over the phone if you want to call our operators they’ll be glad to receive your gift. They can also send you omblopes or an envelope with our address on it so you can mail a gift to Bibleline. You can also go to our online bookstore on our website Bibleline Ministries and there you can also give a gift to Bibleline on our secure website. Think about it. Be a partner with us and help us to continue the Bibleline program.

And we’ll be glad to accommodate you, and you can send your gift into Bible and buy the mail.

We have quite a number of things in our resource center. As you think about Christmas, you might want to think about some of the things that we have, and it’ll help Bible and a little bit, but we have great gospel tracks. We’ve got great evangelistic tools. We have the greatest book on how to lead a soul to Christ in the world, and that’s the handbook on personal evangelism. I also have a series that I taught how to lead souls of Christ that was really very, very good.

In fact, we finished it and everybody stood in a pot and they really, really appreciated that class and many were empowered by the second or third week of the class and were out leading people to Christ. So we’ve got series of teachings on the Bible, including one on parables, one on the Holy Spirit, One on the Rapture, One on End Time Prophecies, One on the fact that Jesus is coming and so on and so on and so on. So you can call and our operators can send you a resource list or you can look at them online if you want to go on the internet go to our online bookstore and then we’re going to show you or you can see it for yourself on the book online bookstore but you can call our operators.

I’m glad to tell you what things might best meet your needs in the way of teachings. But we also have the Scofield Bible. And those are going quickly right now because of the holidays. So if you want to make sure that you have one for a loved one, call in and I would order right away. Because last year I know we ran out and we didn’t get any more until after the new year. So don’t let that happen. We’re going to go back Back to the questions here.

We have people waiting on the phone lines here. We have another anonymous in Florida and we’re going to go to anonymous here in Florida. Welcome to Bob Lane. Good morning Dr. Hank. I call it last week concerning being unequally yoked with unbelievers. I have a question concerning Billy Graham, as early as 1957, he’s been sending converts to Jewish synagogues, as open support for Roman Catholic Church, sending converts to their church. Are we supposed to move? Well, you know, obviously if you are going to lead someone to Christ, you want them in a good sound Bible Church and that’s what I recommend all the time for people to find a good Church because if you want to grow and you want to have freedom to teach and proclaim Christ it’s wonderful when you’re in a good Church.

I know it tells us in 2 Corinthians 3 that where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty and if you are in a church that has false doctrines they usually really come hard on you if you say anything contrary to what the church doctors might be even though they are contrary to the Bible they hold them really tight and close to their heart and they don’t let you speak out. So you won’t really flourish in a bad church it’s just like getting alive.

He said, You need to go and find a good church. So, no, I don’t recommend anybody who gets saved, go to a mad church. And yet there are those who do that. And that’s part of the psychopentical movement. It’s all part of the drive for a one-world church that will happen right after the rapture during the tribulation period. And that world church will be a tool in the rise of the anacrist power. The church will be able to do it.

The church will be able to do it. help him at last. And so it’s kind of scary that all these things are happening. And today doctrine is being downplayed and I’ve heard preachers say doctrine divides us so we need to not talk about doctrine. And obviously that’s wrong because the scripture tells us in, for example, 2 Timothy 3, 16, first on the list is doctrine. It says all scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable. one on the list.

This is for doctrine. So we need to know the doctrines or the teachings of the Bible. And that’s how we discern what’s truth and what’s error as what we hear and come in conflict with that doesn’t agree with the Bible is wrong and we need to stand for the truth of the Bible. I hope that helps. How far would you say though if I’m part of a church that supports Billy Graham, should I raise a voice concerning? You know his false.

I don’t know, you know, I feel convicted You know when I you’re people who aren’t aware of it, you know supporting him well most most want to be a voice of dissension most national evangelists do that because they in order to get the bar based of support They want to have the cooperation of all these different churches and in order to have that cooperation They have to not offend any of them and they want to of course make it appealing for them to participate themselves by saying that they’ll send the converse back to those churches and the bill Graham in his evangelistic always has Roman Catholic leadership in the committee that forms the whole thing and and and and and usually has just about every denomination represented Right, okay.

Ecumenical movement. Not at all, because it’s not difficult. It might sound good, but the Church, then the doctrines become compromised. And obviously, you really wind up saying something that is pleasing to all. And that means you’re going to teach works for salvation or be really, you know, some of the most successful are the best at saying the least about what they really believe. It’s very, very difficult to find out what they believe when you go searching. But when you come right out and say what you believe, like Paul, the apostle did, it got him beaten up and thrown in jail and people wanted to kill him.

He said, why am I persecuted? He says, if I were preaching the law or works, then there would be no persecution. He says, because I’m preaching grace and the liberty that we have in Christ, he says, that’s why I’m being persecuted. And he said, do I seek to please men or do I seek to please God? If I sought to please men, then I would not be the servant of Christ. So if we’re going to please the Lord, we’re going to find that there will be those who will not agree and will not be happy.

And that’s what Jesus said, beware when all men speak well of you. So if everybody is saying good things about you, it probably means you’re not being very effective for God because his message divides and the gospel message will separate between those who believe it and those who reject it. And so it’s ever been that way and will continue to be that way. Hopefully that helps. Thank you for your call. We’re now going to go to Felix in that Tampa Florida and Felix, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air.

Dr. Hank Lynchham. Yes it is. Hello Dr. Hank Lynchham, this is Felix from Tampa, Florida. Okay. And I was concerning on what the woman said today on women being in authority. Yes. Being that we are a nation under God, would it be safe to say that I should not vote for a woman president? And I appreciate your boldness like Paul. Well thank you. My personal opinion on that as I wouldn’t want a woman president, again, for the same reasons that I wouldn’t want a woman preacher.

And because a lot of times they are making their decisions based on a motion rather than on facts. And I think we need leaders who are going to make good judgments based upon the best information that they have to make those choices. And women are more likely not to make those decisions based in that way. So I would not. My personal opinion is no. But thank you for that call Felix and I hope that helps a little bit. Alright, we’re now going to go to Tony in Largo Florida and Tony welcome to Bible when you are on the air.

Yes, good morning. Dr. Lynch, don’t think you’ve taken my call. I have a question in the book of Joshua. Okay, I’m going to turn over that direction. Joshua, 10, 13. Yes. Okay, I’m almost there. I’m in Joshua. Chapter 10. And I’ll take the turn of my page here. Verse 13 says, and the sun stood still. Well, this is of course a problem passage for many, but basically I think the answer is in that the illusion is that the sun is still obviously the earth is the one that rotates over 24 hours and it gives the illusion that the sun is rising and setting.

I think here I read a great explanation by Dr. Harry Rimmer. He was a great apologist and he wrote the book I think almost 100 years ago, but he talked about the geography there and that valley and how the way that everything was positioned that the sunlight still refracted as it came down through that valley, which normally the sun would, the day would have ended sooner because the mountains would come off the sun’s light that apparently, and I can’t remember now because I haven’t read that in a long time, but he described how that it gave the appearance that the sun stood still because the light continued until they won this wonderful victory here and were able to defeat the enemy.

I’ll have to go back and research that again, but then there are some good explanations out there. I would recommend also some other books that are great for dealing with skeptics. I know that Norman Geisler has a book that is great for just dealing with skeptics, as those that try to bring up the problem passages in the Bible that create a problem for us. scientifically that sounds impossible and i’m sure that obviously it’s not really talking about uh… the sun standing still in fact uh…

the hebrew understand doesn’t really say that so uh… i’ll do my homework again because i have forgotten uh… that clear explanation is that your first person brought up in a long time okay and um… you know one eighteen as well as a jasher well there was a lot of books written down through time and but only certain books were inspired of God because he was written by a prophet and a authentic spokesperson for God. So the Bible mentions other books too and secular records and so on that are that were written obviously but not sacred scripture not that not what we would consider the word of God.

So those books were around and probably all have now been destroyed or just disintegrated. Most of those books in those days were written on parchment and they only lasted certain number of years. They had to be recopied and recopied. But the Dead Sea schools lasted because they were in that incredible dry climate right there by the Dead Sea that enabled them to survive from around two to three hundred years before Christ till now. But otherwise most the books didn’t last very long at all.

Hopefully that helps, but there are other books that were written and are referred to in the Bible that are not scripture. Okay, well thank you, Dr. I appreciate your help. Okay, and there’s some good books out there. Some of them that are really good are old and I find that new is not always better. In fact, a lot of the newer books are not as detailed and do a good job like some of the older books do. But Dr.

Harry Rimmer was a great apologist and he wrote several books that He was dealt with the difficult passages he didn’t mind taking them on. Thank you for that call and now we’re going to go to, let’s see who we’re going to go to, Armando in St. Petersburg Armando. Welcome to Bibleline Year on the Year. Good morning. Good morning. I have a dilation stuck in regard to a chim because it’s also the infant James, the gentile, the pimp them. And my question is, what’s the difference between the two of them?

My question is what you think I think I do and no James clearly taught salvation my faith in fact the verse That tells us how Abraham was saved by faith and not by works in Genesis 15 six That Abraham believed God concerning the Messiah about Jesus and it was counted to him for righteousness That verses quoted three times in the New Testament It’s quoted in Romans 4 which is a great a dissertation on the fact that we’re saved not by works but by faith only.

And also in Galatians chapter 3 in verse 6 it’s quoted, and then the most unlikely place you would think it was quoted is in James chapter 2. In the very chapter where people try to make works out as a necessary for salvation, James talks about Abraham’s salvation experience and points out it was by faith without works and how that Abraham believed God and it was counted him for righteousness James 2.23. So definitely James was not teaching works for salvation, but James was talking about works for believers.

It’s interesting how the devil is so clever. You know, when you’re unsaved, he gets you to believe that you can work your way to heaven. So he’s got your work, work, work, work, work. Look at the cults. They’re out there, sweating in the hot sun, working like crazy, knocking on doors, trying to earn their way to heaven. And of course, they won’t make it because they’re trying to be saved by works. But then a person gets saved and realizes it’s not by works and sometimes they sit back and don’t do any works now because they don’t have to work to be saved.

But James is saying, that’s the time you need to work because now your labor is not in vain but whatever you do for the Lord is going to be rewarded in heaven. And James is saying you’re not going to have any profit or reward unless you serve and have works. But he never taught that salvation was by works. Okay, but my question is why was Peter changing his position when the disciple of James came to the area? Because when they were not around, Peter will get together with the Gentiles, but then when they came, he will take a different approach.

Yeah. question. Like what? Paul told you the answer right there. He said, Peter, you’re a hypocrite. Amazing how Paul called Peter out and said, Peter, and it was misleading as to salvation to those that were viewing it. And one of the favorite verses of mine, one of mine, difficult verses of it, I took on as a challenge to memorize as an early believer, James 2 16 was Paul addressing Peter about this issue and he says, Peter, you know that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, Peter, even we have trusted in Christ as our Savior, recognizing that no one can be justified by the works of the law.

For by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. So Paul really took Peter to task publicly and said you’re wrong Peter. You shouldn’t mislead people by acting differently when you’re with the Gentiles than you do when you’re with the Jews because Peter you know the difference. We’re all saved by grace and not by works period. All right. Thank you very much. Okay, thank you Armando. Verse 16 is the key verse, I think, and that’s the one that is a little long verse, but well worth memorizing.

We have now Adam in Tampa, Florida. Adam, welcome to Vibeline. Yeah, could you give me any of your work, Jonah, is going into anything? I know you refer to that verse. I don’t know of another one that gives you the age of accountability. I think that really is a clear one though because there you have God speaking and God is talking about 120,000 children and Nineveh that were obviously under the age of accountability that didn’t know the right hand from their left hand.

So I think that’s sufficient to answer it and I like the answer a lot because it allows for children to develop at a different rate. Some children are not. children mature more quickly than others. And so when a child becomes of age to discern their left from the right hand, they become accountable. So there’s not a date on it. If you put five years old or ten years old or some date on it, then that wouldn’t really seem right because some children, you and I know, mature more quickly than others.

So I think that’s a great answer. They were to die, they would still be sent, right? Well, the answer is no, because Jesus died for every man, woman, and child that would ever live. And God has made allowance for those under the age of accountability to come to heaven. David had a son, you ought to read this in 2 Samuel 12 verse 23. The baby died at seven days old. He fasted that whole week and prayed to God that God would spare the life of his child.

the child died and the servants wondered why did he change his behavior such because he had fasted and wept and he wouldn’t eat and so on. But now that the child died he asked them to prepare a meal and he washed and he changed his clothes and they fed him and they said what’s going on? And he said well while the child was yet alive I couldn’t tell whether the Lord would be gracious to spare the child’s life. But now that he’s He’s dead.

He says, David says, the child will not return to me. But then David said, I’m going to go be with that baby. Isn’t that wonderful news? So we know that children under the age of accountability go to heaven. We know David went to heaven. And David knew he would be rejoined with that baby in eternity. And maybe you’ve lost a brother or sister or your parents have at a young age. And that child will be in heaven. all aborted babies will be in heaven in that goodness and in the light of all the abortions that are taking place every one of those children will be in heaven.

Okay, very good. I’m glad to do one more quick question. Sure. When Jesus is calling to choose didn’t like that because he was making himself equal to God. Can you explain like why him calling him but let’s you know, and it says father a lot referred to God is referred to as father before Jesus came on the scene. Well, it was more than that. If you read, for example, in John chapter 5, he was called in question over this healing of this work that he did in John 5.

He was a man who was impotent from birth and Christ heals him and he’s able to walk. And Jesus, of course, is God who came and took on human flesh. Jesus says here in John, let me see if I can get the exact verse here, Jesus says here that Jesus answered them, he said, my father worked with hitherto and then he says, and I work. So it was more than he just said, my God is my father. But he’s saying here that up until this point God was the one who was working, but now he is god revealed in flesh here on the earth and is doing the works and that’s when they tried to kill him because they said he was making himself equal with god that’s uh…

john uh… five eighteen so maybe that’ll help he’s it was more than this thing got my father he’s saying that god worked up until me and now that i’m here god and that’s and then and then of course when they they came at him with that then he went on and the rest of the chapter, he says he has equal knowledge with the Father, equal power with the Father, that he has equal judgment with the Father and just continues on to demonstrate to these God throughout the rest of this whole chapter, the five of John.

Thank you. You’re welcome. Thank you for calling in and we’re now Cunningham. Adam, I think, no, it’s not Adam. We have anonymous intent, okay, anonymous. This is anonymous day. Welcome to Bibleline, and you’re on the air. Yes, Dr. Hank Lindstrom, about of Lickens chapter 3 verse 6 concerning zeal. It says concerning zeal, prosecuting the church, touching the righteous which is in the law of blameless. Can you explain that a little bit? Well Paul was talking here among his former history part of his salvation experience that he was a very, very zealot Jew and he was opposed to those who believed differently in that he persecuted Christians and threw them into jail and all of those things.

As far as trying to keep the law, he was one who was not sinless, but he followed the law and he was blameless because he would obviously when he sinned and he would offer sacrifice and follow the teachings of the law to the letter. But then he says all of that was of no real value. We have to go. Time has run out. Keep looking up. Jesus is coming. The Bibleline Ministries of Tampa, Florida. We’d love to have you come by, we’d love to get a chance to meet you and we’d love to have you go with us to Israel.

We’re going to be planning to leave on the Monday of the last week of February and return on Friday the last day of the first week in March, the seventh of March and we’re going to have a great time. It’ll be trip number 15 for me if you are interested. Call us, give us your name and phone number and we’ll contact you. We should know this week I’m expecting today or tomorrow to really get a look at the final itinerary and all the flight times and all that kind of stuff and we’ll be sending out a brochure to those who would like to go and we’re going to have a supertime.

I hope you’ll consider that if you’d like to go to Israel with me. It’ll be trip number fifteen. We’ll leave at the last of February 2008 and unless Lord comes first of course. So think about that. Give me a call and get on the list. Also, we want you to know that as Christmas time approaches and if you want to give gifts up The Scofield Bible I think is going to go rather quickly. And last year we ran out and we don’t want you to call it the last minute and try to get one and there not be one available.

So I would recommend that you start thinking early and order that Scofield Bible before. It becomes too late where we can’t get it until after the first of the year. That happened to us last year and we’re trying to anticipate that this year as well. Don’t forget we have all kinds of teachings and books, Bibles, Dixteria, everything that I recommend. I remember as a brand new believer wasting a lot of money because I would buy things and discovered after I bought them that they were a very little value.

So get a resource list from us, call us an Ask Port or get one on the internet or look on the online bookstore. Again, you can give a gift to my blind and help us today by calling in and giving it by credit card over the phone. Gotta run, keep looking up. Jesus is coming. We’ll be back tomorrow.
