We are offering it on CD and on DVD. Several have already told us they are enjoying the DVDs as they are right there in the classroom. Audio and video, if you have a DVD player and have a specially large screen, the TV and qualities excellent you can put me up in spliner me across a great big screen have the whole family watching or a Bible study watching and I think you’ll enjoy first Peter verse by verse and I believe you will probably not find anything comparable to what we’re doing here you will not find a series like this where we go verse by verse and explain and we have the gospel of John We just finished.
It was 20 hours of teaching. We did that in 18 hours, but the 18 class hours. But each class is about an hour and five minutes and times 18 class periods. That’s about 20 hours of teaching there. And so you might want to get that set. And of course before that, we had numerous others, including, if you go back a while, the Book of Revelation, the Book of Daniel, the Book of Jude, the Book of Romans, the Book of Hebrews, and so on and so on throughout the New Testament.
We have most of those on CD and some of them now are on DVD and that’s exciting. We’ve got the Jay Vernon McGee commentary, five volume set. It’s normally retails for about 200. We have it for a gift of 100. That’s really a bargain. This is one of those commentaries that really will keep you right on course. And Dr. McGee was an excellent Bible teacher and you will enjoy this series. So that’s a special bargain. You go out in your bookstore and you’ll pay 200, but you can get it through Bible 904-100.
Give us a call. And we have lots of things that our skilled operators here will guide you. If you have a particular preference for something, they can suggest a book that we have or suggest us a tape series or DVD series that would cover that. We’re excited about how many pastors combine, how many call, and we’re delighted that we can be a blessing to and encouragement to pastors to stand tall and preach the Word of God, which is what we’re enjoying the pond to do.
And we’re excited about leaving for Israel at the end of February. And again, they told me that there’s a possibility you could go if you desire to go. Call me and we’ll see if they can still get you on board with us. And that’ll be February 25 and it’ll be a 14 day trip, 12 full days in Israel touring every day. We’re gonna have a good time. Then I hope you’ll join us for that and if you have your Bible getting out, we’ll talk about the Bible for a little bit and then we’ll take our callers today.
And we invite you to call in with your questions as well. I want to say a word or two about Calvinism. John Calvin, obviously one of the reformers of the Reformation, prolific writer and so on. But generally we know Calvinism by five points of Calvinism, which we use in acronym to remember. It’s tulip, T-U-L-I-P. And T in the acronym stands for total depravity. And Calvinism teaches total depravity, which of course I believe man is to brave since Adam Sin in the Garden.
Sin Nature has passed upon the whole human race and we’re all sinners. And we are sinners my nature and that nature has been inherited from Adam, but Calvinism goes further than that. I reject all five points of Calvinism. I believe they’re all wrong and if you follow them, it just leads you down a rabbit trail far from the scripture. Calvinism teaches that as a result of total depravity that you are spiritually dead when you come into this world, which the Bible teaches and I agree with that.
But what they say is that because you’re dead you can’t do anything and therefore you cannot even believe. And that’s not true. The Bible doesn’t teach that. So the Calvinist says you’re totally depraved to the point that you can’t even respond to belief. And so the Calvinist believes that God chose those that would be saved and chose really those that would go to hell and you don’t have a choice at all. too bad, so sad you have to live with the consequences of what God decided before the foundations of the world and that you don’t have a choice.
So what happens is that God saves the person based upon his choice and then you believe as a consequence, not as the means of salvation. I believe that’s totally backward. The Bible clearly teaches that you believe and then you become saved, but the Calvinist believes you are chosen and saved by God and then believe as a consequence which I believe is totally wrong. Well I always appeal to the scripture, I don’t care who says what, if they do not agree with the Bible then they’re wrong.
That’s just the way it is. In John chapter 5 we’re going to turn there but let me remind you what it says in Isaiah 8.20 says if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them, and so when they disagree with the Bible then they are wrong. Well Jesus says here in verse 24, Verily, Verily of John 5, I say unto you, he did hear of my word and believeth on him that sent me, has everlasting life shall not come into condemnation, but has passed from death in the life.
Here is your salvation is to hear the words of Christ, to hear the gospel message, to believe on Christ and when you do three things happen, you possess eternal life from that instant. Secondly, you will never come into condemnation. Your future is secure. Thirdly, you are passed from death in the life. Salvation is not a process. It is something that happens at an instant in time at the moment you trust Christ by hearing the word of Christ. He says, He did hear my word, He did hear my word and believe it.
Verse 25 is most interesting in this, obviously I believe refutes the first point of Calvinism total depravity in the sense that you can’t do anything, not even believe. Barely, verily Jesus says in John 5, 25, I say unto you, the hour is coming and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God and they that hear shall live. Incredible here talks about dead people hearing we’re talking about people who of course are walking around and breathing and have a pulse and are Actually alive physically, but spiritually born dead coming into this world dead They can actually hear the words of the Son of God.
They can hear the gospel and the gospel Gospel can bring life as they believe the gospel and become saved and that exciting it really is and you know that happened to me and it happens to every believer. I was raised in church, I was confirmed and baptized, demonized, pasteurized, and colonized. Well, if there was a treatment my church offered, I went through it. And guess what? I wasn’t saved. But when I was 18, finally, I heard the Gospel presented.
I heard the words of Christ that if I would believe on Him, that I would not perish, but I would have everlasting life. And obviously, I was spiritually dead. But I heard those words and I believed them and I became born again. I became a child of God. I was passed from death and the life as it says in John 524. And that was obviously a defining moment in my life and for all eternity. Because from the moment you trust Christ, you are born again.
It says in 1 John 5 1, who’s to ever believe that Jesus is the Son of God, is born of God. The key there is believing that Jesus is the Son of God, the one who came from heaven to go to the cross of Calvary and die and shed his blood and pay your sin debt and full. And so here Jesus says in verse 24, he said here, my word and believe it. Well three things happen among others. You possess eternal life.
You’ll never come into condemnation and you’re past from death and the life. And then Jesus tells us very plainly, very rarely I say to you, the hour has come. coming and now is when the dead spiritually dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God and they did hear shall live. You know over the Ephesians it says and you had the quickened or resurrected or made alive who were dead and trespasses and sins. So we are all born dead spiritually but when we hear the voice of the Son of God when we hear the gospel message that Christ gave it can bring life.
You know, the Word of God is living in powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword, and it divides a sunder between the soul and the spirit and the joints and the moral and the is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. That’s Hebrews 4.12. And the Word of God is powerful. It’s living. When I witness to somebody, I want to make sure that I quote the Scripture and the Word of God is powerful. If a person believes the invitation that Christ gave, they will be passed from death into life, they will receive the gift of eternal life, they will live eternally.
It says here, the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God and they did hear. That word here in the Greek means to hear receiving, believing, and when they hear that message receiving it, believing it, they shall live. They shall live. And that means they’ll live forever and ever and ever and ever and ever. Well, that’s the first point of Calvinism. I reject total depravity as it’s presented, saying that a dead person can’t even believe that’s nonsense.
Jesus tells us that the dead can hear and those that hear receiving it are saved. Secondly, the you in tulip stands for unconditional election and of course that really means it was not saved by our works, which is excellent. It is not of works. It is the gift of God the Bible tells us. It is none of yourself. If Jesus 2, 8, and 9 make that very clear end. Numerous other verses tell us it is not of works. But see the Calvinist goes too far and he says it is not even based upon belief.
It is unconditional. He elects you with this regard to your belief or to your works or to anything at all. That is not true. The Bible very clearly tells us that God chooses to save people based upon belief or trust in Christ. Let me give you a great verse. This is in 2nd Pestalonians chapter 2. 2nd Pestalonians chapter 2. And here’s a verse where many stop short and don’t read the whole verse, especially the Calvinist. They don’t apparently want to accept the second half of the verse.
That’s unfortunate. But it says in 2nd Pestalonians 2.13, but we are bound to give thanks always to God for You, brethren, beloved of the Lord, because God has from the beginning chosen me to salvation. That’s where they stop. God has from the beginning chosen me to salvation, but then if you read on two things, God’s part are part, sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth. You must be one who believes the truth in order to be chosen.
God chooses before the foundation of the world all that would believe on the Lord Jesus Christ to be saved. He chooses us on the basis of belief of the truth. It says here, it says he has chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit that is God’s part where he cleanses us of our sin and makes us pure and holy in his sight through the Holy Spirit, applying the blood of Christ to our account and belief of the truth to receive the truth of the gospel.
That says in verse 14 it is clear that the gospel we are talking about here, wherein to He called you or He invited you by our gospel. to obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. God invites us to become saved, everyone in the human race. And we find that when you believe the truth, you become one of the chosen. It’s not the other way around. The Calvinist says, you’re chosen and then you believe in all these other things follow as consequences where the Bible says you believe the truth and you become chosen because the chosen are the believers.
and you must believe the truth in order to be saved. You must believe the truth, which is according to verse 14 here in 2 The Gospel Message, which God uses to invite you, the lost and dying sinner, the one who is more spiritually dead to receive life. And the moment you do, you’re saved forever. The third point of Calvinism is limited atonement, which basically I always think of the Lone Ranger. He only used those silver bullets on special occasions.
He didn’t waste them. They cost a lot, obviously. Jesus didn’t waste any blood. He only died for the elect. So God didn’t shed any blood for the people. He did not elect to go to heaven, but he shed blood for the elect, for the ones he chose to be saved. Well, guess what? The Bible Everywhere teaches that Christ died for everybody. Let me just show you one of the passages 2 Corinthians 5 verse 14 says the love of Christ constrains us Because we thus judge if one died for how many it says in my Bible Oh, oh That’s not limited atonement at all 2nd Corinthians 5 14 then we’re all dead obviously everybody is dead spiritually in need of life, and Christ died for all, verse 15, and that he died for all that they which lived should not have not lived for themselves.
So those that live are the ones that respond to the message and believe the Gospel of Christ and become born again. Well, there’s a lot more to talk about Calvinism. Maybe we could pick it up again tomorrow, but I reject all five points of Calvinism today because some of these things are being exposed as totally false. We have 5-point Calvinists, 4-point Calvinists, 3-point Calvinists, 2-point Calvinists, 1-point Calvinists, and I’m a 0-point Calvinist. I don’t believe any of them as they are typically presented.
You have a choice. As the El Nudy said it, the Whose River wills are the elect, and the Whose River won’ts are the non-elect. And If you choose to trust Christ, then you become elected to eternity with the Lord. Well, we’re going to go to the phone lines. We have our lines that are up and people are calling. The number is 1-800-576-3771, 1-800-576-3771. We’re going to go to Tampa first and we’re going to talk to Gino and Gino, welcome to Bible and You’re on the air.
Yes, how you doing? As I heard you say that Joe Woodnish is a Jehovah’s and I never wrote it down before but I met a Jehovah’s witness yesterday and we were comparing what we believe in and I told her that because they don’t believe in the Trinity, she told me they don’t believe in the Trinity, they distinct being and she also put her, like I said, the she work, their faith is your whole wish. And I want to write that down as you explained it to me.
What did you mean by that practical? I heard no and I’m a hang up and listen. Okay, Gino, we certainly do that. And obviously we need to pray for the Joe’s Witnesses. They’re all, if they believe what they’re taught and they usually do very firmly lost. And every one of them will head to a place they don’t even believe in. Hell, where they’ll be separated from God forever and ever and ever. Look at you well at 1 John 2, and here it says in verse 23, 1 John 2, 23, who’s the whoever denied the Son the same hath not the Father?
Pretty clear. Who’s whoever denied the Son the same hath not the Father? But he acknowledged that the Son hath the Father also. deny the Son of God as being God and flesh, the second eternal member of the Godhead, so they don’t have the Father. The Father is obviously Jehovah or Yahweh, so they don’t have the Father. So they’re Jehovahless. That’s right. When a witness comes to my door, I say, well, isn’t that interesting? You call yourself a Jehovah’s Witness, but you’re Jehovahless.
You don’t have Jehovah. Why? Because you deny the Son. 23 of 1 John says, whosoever that I of the Son the same hath not the Father. The one though that acknowledges it’s the son, the same half the father also. So I encourage them that they need to trust Jesus as the eternal second member of the Godhead that he’s got and fled. Also, if you look at 2nd John and this one is on chapter 1 verse 9 where it says this is whoever transgresses and that’s everybody in the human race.
We’re all sinners and that by death not in the doctrine of Christ. This one says you don’t even have God. God. So they’re Jehovahless and they’re Godless because they denied the doctrine of Christ as taught in the Bible that God came and took on human flesh in the person of Christ. Thank you and that was great and I hope that helps and definitely we need to pray for them. I’ve led quite a number of Jehovah’s Witnesses to Christ. In fact, we had one that came by to thank me and he said he committed the unpardonable sin.
He said he listened to Bibleline secretly. He got saved. He was one of the upper echelon, a sixth generation Jehovah’s Witness, who addressed as many as 80,000 witnesses at a time as he lectured for them. Wow. He got saved. Isn’t that wonderful? Praise the Lord that Bibleline had an influence to reach a big fish in the lost pond of Jehovah’s Witnesses. They need salvation and thank God we’re leading some to Christ right here on Bible and radio. Well anyway we’re now going to go to Chris and Chris is in Dover, Florida and Chris welcome to Bible and you are on the air.
Chris, you’re on the air. Okay. I was wondering about these women pastors like George Meyer and Paula White, and I was really wondering what would the consequence be if the rapture to occur or would there be… What there be any consequence. Well I think they’d be left behind. Their doctrine is flawed. They both believe you can lose your salvation which means it works for salvation they teach. You have to live your life faithfully to own the end of your life that makes you the Savior not Christ Joyce Myers says she hasn’t sinned at all in the past ten years, and she is so flawed, Dr Lee.
I don’t know how in the world that people don’t See through it all, but this is false teaching and apparently I’ll call her hung up but the consequence is that the rapture only believers go up and To be a believer as the Bible defines it you trust Christ with disregard to everything else in the way of works or efforts on your part. It says in Ephesians 2 8, by grace or by mercy, are you saved through faith and that none of yourselves, that is the salvation is not of yourself, it is the gift of God and salvation is not of works, as St.
E. Manchin boasts. But Joyce Myers and Paula White both teach that you have to live the Christian life successfully to be able to ultimately make heaven at the end. And Joyce Myers says that she doesn’t sin anymore. That’s very interesting. When 1 John 1 8 says, if we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves. And the truth is not in us. So thank you for that question, Chris. And that’s Chris from Dover, Florida. We now have Benny in St.
Petersburg. And Benny, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Benny, are you on the air? Hello? Hey, you’re on the air. Hey. Thanks. Yes, you’re on the air. By the way, I’m going to say goodbye to Miami. They go off the air a little bit early before other stations. So thank you, Miami, for tuning in. And again, we’d love to hear from you, call us, or I know we have somebody that is calling me, so they’re going to come by this weekend.
I guess coming up from South Florida, and I spend a week in here and worship with us. And God bless you all. Down in Miami, listening there on WM CU 1080 on the bottom. OK, I’m back to you. What’s going on? Hey Benny, I have a question for you. I was asked by one of the youth at the church and he asked me about, we’re talking about salvation. And she mentioned the 10 versions. And I was just wondering how would you explain the 10 versions parable that Jesus gave and also the parable about the demand that came back to his house and he found a servant doing his will and he sent them out there will be weeping and gnashing a piece.
Okay well first of all in the 10 virgins 5 were saved 5 were lost the wise were saved they trusted Christ that was a smart choice and the lost were those who were foolish and didn’t receive Christ’s are saved here and were lost the key that really just meals the answer to that question is verse 12 where in Matthew 25 12 Jesus said to the five foolish virgins I know you not. I know you not. So if you are not known by the Lord, you’re not saved.
The Lord knows all those that are His. First Timothy 2 19 says, the foundation of the Lord, the standard sure. That is that the Lord knows those that are His. So when you trust Christ, you become His, you become His sheep, you become born again, you become a son or daughter in the family of God, and He knows who you are. These were not saved, and they really never ever trusted Christ as the Lord. their savior. We’re going to have to hold off on that second question.
But keep listening. We’ll try to catch the second half hour. We’re coming up on our break. We want to again remind you that my mind is list or supported. If you can help my mind, we would really appreciate that as we close out the month of January. We can use some help. And if you could send a gift or give one by credit card call, an operator will help you with that or send you an envelope with our address on it if you want to mail it in.
But we really are totally dependent upon you, the and upon you the listener. Let me thank you in advance for praying for and giving the Bible in it. Well, here we go. We’re going to have our break. We’ll be right back. So don’t go away. Don’t go away. Bibleline will be back in a moment. Give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. And I’m Dr. Anker and Schruin. It’s great to be with you every day, Monday through Friday. And thank you for listening.
Thank you for tuning in. I hope that you become aware of our website where you can listen to these programs as often as you want. We have a fellow in our church here, the church I pastor, who has one of these iPod type phones or whatever. He has 261 hours of Bible wine there that he can listen to wherever he goes. He’s always listening to Bible wine listening to 271 programs. You know that’s a lot of programs. when you talk about five programs per week, how many weeks of programs would that be to have 271 programs download into his iPod?
Amazing. The technology today. And you can go to our website, click on the spinning globe, and you’ll find that you can download all of our programs in the MP3 format. And I don’t know if you can get 271 loaded under your iPod, but he’s got a lot. And we hear that all the time. tell us they go to and fro at work they listen in different places because they are able to carry them with them. Download them. We also have of course our TV probes you can download those if you have a video iPod we have our worship services all there on the internet for you to check out.
Again if you would take a look at our resource center or if you’re in the area come by and actually visit back on the door. Or if you are in town, come in and see us. We’ve had two separate families here visit us this past week from Michigan. We are heard there in the capital of Michigan and Lansing, Michigan. Also we’re on the station in Flint and Saigon on Michigan and we had a family Sunday visiting our worship service.
They listen every day up there in Pottersville, Michigan. And also we had a family come by yesterday and visit our resource center and they’ve lived in Lansing and listen every day on that same station. We’re excited to have people visiting us from around the country that are listening to my blind wherever they might be living. And that’s exciting. And I hope that you get a little bit of that excitement in you and decide you want to help my blind because we need your help.
We really have no other source of income and we’d like to get this program out everywhere in the world. We don’t pay any salary so we’re leaning mean and we’re able to do more than many in the way of using the resources that God gives us. We could use your help not only to maintain what we’ve got but to reach out further with the gospel of Jesus Christ. By the way, again, thank you in advance for being a prayer partner and also a financial supporter of Bibleing.
We’re going to now go back to the second half hour and so stay tuned. Would you like to call Bibleline and ask Dr. Lynch from a question? You can. Just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Now here again is Dr. Hank Lindstrom. We’re back from that break and here we are in the second half hour of Bibleline. We’re coming to you live from Tampa, Florida from our studios right here at the Calvary Community Church. We’re excited to be with you every day Monday through Friday.
This is Wednesday. Thank you for tuning in to the broadcast. We sure do appreciate all of you our listeners. We hope that you’ll come by and get acquainted sometime if you get a chance. And you know this This past couple of days we’ve had visitors that listen to us up in Michigan come by. That’s right. Well, on every day in Lansing, Michigan, the capital of Michigan, we’re also on in Flint and the second on Michigan. We had a family visit our worship service from Pottersville, Michigan.
They listen every day out of Lansing. We also had a family come by yesterday and visit our resource center. They’re here in Florida and they came by. They listen every day up there in Lansing, Michigan. And we’re just excited. We get people coming in here from all over from New York and other states and like Michigan this week. We’re excited that we’re apparently touching people’s lives and they wanna come by and see us and we know that that’s something special.
If they travel all the way to Florida and they come by to see us, obviously, we’re very flattered by that. one family said they’d like to move down here and be a part of our ministry, wouldn’t that be exciting? And so we are grateful to God and we thank God for the blessings of being able to meet our listeners and getting to know you. And we thank God for everyone of you. And if you ever get a chance to come by, we invite you to do the same.
Also, we want you to visit us, of course, on the internet because you can feel really connected there. You can get our radio programs 24-7. You can get our worship services 24-7. You can get our television programs 24-7. Everything’s right there. You can visit our Resource Center any hour, the day or night. You can place your order right there on the internet and we’ll ship out whatever you’re ordering and we hope that that will be a blessing to you.
We certainly can use your help as we finish out January. Could you give a gift to Bobeline this month? And if you could give a generous gift that would really just help us make sure we come we come out standing at our feet out of this month of January 2008. It’s hard to believe this month has already gone. Wow, it seems like it just was yesterday that we were back there in 2007. But that’s the way it works. Time is moving quickly.
And we’re living, of course, in a very exciting time when we know Jesus could come at any time. And that’s why we believe there’s an urgency to get the gospel out. And we hope that we can be be your voice and you can help us be the ones that will stay on there by your partnership to help us be able to pay for the bills to continue on the air in your area and other areas. Thank God for you.
Well, we still have that many second question. He was asking about the guy casting out a darkness. Whenever you see that phrase, we’re talking about hell. Hell is described as the blackness of darkness forever in the Book of Jude and it is out darkness and the weeping and edging teeth, of course it refers to the fact that people are conscious and are being tormented day and night forever and ever as Revelation chapter 20 verse 10 tells us. This cannot be a believer if that was the question.
I’m not too sure if the question was that, but we know in John 637. Here’s a simple verse that you will never find contradicted because the Bible doesn’t contradict. In John 637 Christ says, him come to me, I will then know why he is cast out. So he will never, for any reason, under no circumstances, ever cast out anyone who comes to him.” Write that one down, Benny. John 637. So when you see a verse where somebody is cast into outer darkness and there is weeping and ash and peace, you can be absolutely assured they weren’t a believer.
They had not come to Christ for salvation, but they are lost, and all the lost one day will be cast into the eternal link of our bidding hope that helps we’re not going to john in Tampa for and john welcome to my one you are on the air morning and good morning you do My question goes back to Adam and Eve. If they were created about 6,000 years ago, how come there are cave paintings that predate that? well uh…
obviously i think a lot of the dating is flawed and uh… and human history doesn’t go too far back even by uh… scientific measures but i believe that uh… there will i think that that man has only been here for 6,000 years and people have been living in caves and still do for this very hour and they would draw on the walls and to… I think it’s so flawed of them so many ways because they’re dating the rocks or the elements upon which the paintings were made and they really get it flawed.
So I just don’t buy into that. Man has been here rather recently but I believe that of course there was life on this planet before Adam as the original Earth was created perfect with plants, animals, dinosaurs and which were destroyed when God judged the earth when Satan attempted his overthrow of heaven. I believe all the angels lived on this original earth and then at some point in time Satan let every value know that third of those angels and God judged the earth and Satan as angels and they’ve been judged ever since that time, probably about 65 million years ago when NASA tells us an asteroid struck a planet Earth in the area that you can impenence.
About 150 mile diameter and threw up so much debris that the sun’s light was cut out for millions of years. And obviously life was extinguished except for animals that live in the sea perhaps that don’t breathe. But air breathing animals were all extinguished at that time. 6,000 years ago God warms up the earth the Bible says there in Genesis 1 to the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters that word move means to brood upon or to incubate barely the Holy Spirit fought out the earth from the ice ages and this time in seven days puts ban on the planet and he had to recreate animals that breathe there but otherwise the plants and the vases and the trees and so on came forth from seed that was already here If you read carefully, there was no creation of plant life on the third day.
That all came forth from seed that was already here upon the earth. And so it was only the animals that breathe there that God had to recreate because they were killed in the judgment of Genesis 1, 2. Hopefully that helps John, and thank you for your call. We now have Jim in Delayan, Florida, and Jim, welcome to Bibleline and Delayan, Florida’s on the east coast of Florida. Yeah, how you doing today? Good. You know about them, but I’ve never heard him.
I’ve never heard his salvation message or something. Can you please talk about him at all? I don’t know a whole lot, but I can try to find out for you. But, you know, you just have to really dig deep. And if you have trouble, you have to listen to you to find out what they believe. You can be assured that you’re not a good Bible teacher. because if you’re teaching the Word of God, it should be easily discovered what the person believes.
Today, some of those that are on the air never hardly ever mentioned the Bible. It’s not at all in the repertoire. So I think if they’re having that kind of a struggle, I would think that he’s preaching a suspect because you don’t have to listen long to me to find out exactly what I believe. And we don’t hide it. We proclaim it. I mean, that’s what God says in his word we believe. So Jim and the land, thank you very much for the call.
I hope that helps. And we have a lot of off-air questions, so we’ll try to see what we can do here. Joe and Pembroke Pines Florida down South Florida calls and says, I want to give a how permanent is your salvation CD to someone. Can you give any suggestions as to what you should say to introduce the CD to your friend? Well, I would say, hey, this is something that I really found exciting or interesting or helpful or enlightening or whatever words you want to use.
And then say, would you listen to it and give me your opinion? I think if you ask them to respond in some way, there’s a better chance that they will listen to it. In other words, if you give them a track, say, would you read this over and tell me what you think? And obviously they’re obligated that if they say yes to either listen to the CD or read the track to get back to you with a response as to what they think.
So I think you’re on your way if you do something like that. Joe, thank you so much for calling in. Thank you for listening down in the Miami area. We have Elroy and Utica, New York. And he says, could you explain the meaning of first John 1-9? Okay. First John 1-9 is not a salvation verse. It is a verse dealing with life within the family of God. John has written to believers and he says if we as believers in 1 John 1 9 confess our sins that means the name by name the sins that we commit as believers.
You mean Believer Sin? Well, they sure do. 1 John 1 8 says, if we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves. And the truth is not in us. So those that say that they don’t sin, like Joyce Beyer, is obviously deceiving herself because the Bible says that’s impossible. We have a sin nature. And although you may not be committing very crimes like murder or robbing banks and so on, we sin. and thought, word, or deed, and James tells us in James 4 17, to know to do good and not do it.
That’s sin. In other words, if you know you ought to read your Bible every day and you don’t, you’re sinning. If you know you ought to attend church regularly, as the Bible says we should not forsake the assembly of ourselves together, you’re sinning. If you know you ought to witness to some lost person and you don’t do it, you’re sinning. So there’s lots of sins that are sins that are just failure to do what we’re obligated to do as a believer.
So this verse says, if you confess it, God is faithful and just to forgive us your sins, the ones that you name to Him in confession. And also to cleanse you from all unrighteousness. So a verse that deals with fellowship are Walk with the Lord and our intimacy with the Lord and that sin hinders that. It will not change our salvation, but it hinders our walk and we need to confess it. And it really means, I believe, as you recognize that you’ve sinned, stop and do it right then so that you can walk and unbroken fellowship with the Lord.
Elroy, in Utica, New York, thank you for the question, I hope that helps. Joe, in Pimberg Pines again, leaves another question, how long will it take for the Jewish people to build the third temple when the time comes? I’ve been told as little as 48 hours. Gershan Solomon, we’ve had him here about three or four times at our church. He’s an unsaved Orthodox Jew who’s been cutting the stones now ever since 1967. Everything is ready to go. And we were there last March in Israel.
We saw the Temple Institute where we saw the instruments that they’ve been building for the worship system, for the offering up to the sacrifices, the garments of the priesthood. And we even saw the menorah, a big seven-branch candlestick made out of one piece of gold. It must have been worth millions. He stood within a few feet of it. Wow, things are ready to go and they only have to put these stones one on top of another. They’re already cut.
It’ll take just hours and they’ll have it up. I think right after the rapture that’s going to happen. And we’re excited about living in these days when these things are going to take place. Well, we have Mike in Seminole. He leaves us off for a question. Is it possible for a person who once said he trusted in Christ as his Savior to at some Some points say he has changed his mind and now does not trust Christ as a Savior.
Yeah, it’s entirely possible for that to happen. In fact, Peter describes a lot of people if they don’t add to their faith and do not grow, they can actually get to the place where they forget that they were forgiven of their sin, forget that they were purged, and Peter warns against letting that happen as a believer. Those that do that it says are blind spiritually as a believer and are obviously Not going to produce fruit Let me read this in verse 8 of 1st 2 Peter chapter 1 If these things you list the whole list of things that are the recipe for a successful Christian life If these things being you and abound they shall make you that you should need to be barren born fruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
But lack of these things is blind. You cannot see a far off and have forgotten, hath forgotten, hath forgotten that he was saved, that he was purged from his sins. The believer is purged eternally when he trusts Christ as Savior, but you can get away from the Lord and even forget that you are saved and maybe change your mind but you are stuck. Once you trust Christ, the Bible tells us the Holy Spirit comes into your body and seals you as God’s possession until you actually are in heaven.
Read it in Ephesians 1, 13. The Holy Spirit seals you until the day of redemption which is when you actually meet the Lord in heaven. Isn’t that great? Alright, we have here another question from all fair, but I think I’m going to go to David in Richmond, Virginia, he’s live and Dave welcome to I have one here on here. Yes, my question is refers to Luke 18, chapter 17. Could you please explain what that verse means and if it has anything to do with salvation?
Alright, we’ll try to get their Luke chapter 18 or Luke 17. Luke 18 verse 17, it says whoever shall not receive the kingdom of God had a little child some in no wise enter therein. What are you talking really about childlike faith? Children are totally dependent upon their parents and it’s a great illustration about how to be saved. You have to totally trust Christ with disregard to trusting anything else. You know as a little child I would sometimes throw my child straight up above me in the air a little bit and catch him and they just would squeal.
and love them and they have no fear that you’re going to not catch them and that they’re not safe and secure in your hands. They totally trust mom and dad. For everything without mom and dad they wouldn’t be able to eat or they wouldn’t survive. They would die. They absolutely are dependent upon our care and in the same way to be saved you have to totally depend upon Christ to be saved and become like a child in trust, which they are totally at the mercy of their parents and trust them to take care of them.
And when you become an adult and you want to be saved, it’s amazing how many people say, well, I’m going to do my part. I’m going to trust in baptism, church membership, living the Christian life, and all of these other things that God says, that’s not going to make it. You will not enter heaven unless you trust Christ and Christ alone. And that’s childlike faith is being demonstrated in that chapter where a child totally trusts mom and dad for their survival, for their salvation.
And we have to trust Christ as the only means of our salvation as well. Hopefully it helps. Yeah, no, thank you. Okay, you sure walked him and thank you for calling in today and we’ll try to get some more questions here. Ben, in St. Petersburg calls in with this offer of question, why did God create us knowing that all this pain and suffering in sorrow would take place in everybody’s lives on a daily basis. The answer is he wanted creatures of choice and he knew that if he gave us choice that some would choose not to and of course Adam chose to disobey God in the garden and he brought a curse upon this earth and upon us and we have a sin nature and as a result the pain and suffering that we have today can really be traced back to the fall back there in the
Garden of Eden. Thank you, Ben, I hope that helps. We have Don in Treasure Island and Don, welcome to Bibleline Euron there. Pastor, I have a question in Luke 12. It’s always bothered me. Luke 12 is 47, 48, and the 46 verse where it talks about the Lord punishing those who don’t know his will. and it says in 47 and neither did according to as well shall be beaten with men. with many stripes but he did not and did commit things with few stripes.
Does this indicate that there is a different degree of punishment in hell? Well I think it’s unbelievers being assigned a different degree of punishment in hell and it says in verse 4060 to be pointed as portion with the unbelievers. The unbelievers are going to obviously go to hell and there are degrees of punishment taught throughout the New Testament and the old for those who go to hell, our works don’t get us to heaven and our works don’t send us to hell.
But belief or unbelief determines that. But if you’re a believer, our works will be examined at a judgment separate from unbelievers called the Judge of the City of Christ, who will be evaluated for degrees of reward in heaven, where the unbeliever will be judged according to their works to to sign the degree of punishment and hell. And that’s really what the Great White’s her own judgment is all about in Revelation chapter 20. The unsangh will be brought up. So some will be punished more severely.
And obviously they’ll be tormented day and night forever and ever. I think we just can’t imagine how awful hell will be. And obviously the Bible clearly teaches that we can’t deny it like the cults have done. It’s real. And That’s why I’m passionate about trying to make sure that a person understands the clear gospel because if they are trusting in themselves or in living the Christian life, if they believe that they can lose it, they probably don’t have it and they won’t go to heaven but they’ll go to hell.
Won’t they be for an interest surprise when in Matthew 7 it tells us about Apparently the majority will claim the name of Christ will say, we’ll look at all the wonderful things we’ve done and Christ will say I never do you. So I believe that’s the answer. Thank you, Don. Can I add one question on top of that? Then an example I’ve been using with new Christians or unbelievers that mother Theresa, who did so many wonderful things in her life, but was, it’s been told of being in a dying in india and other country When they brought him to the Bible, he was the one who received two stripes in hell because of all the good things that she did in her life.
Is that right or is that not right? probably the opposite because of many people she deceived you know uh… her responsibility was great but uh… she never at roman catholic theology allows that as long as you believe in a god no matter what god it is to be a false god you’ll still have it one day uh… but uh… she never tried to win the people in total cut out to christ uh… she was trying to earn her own salvation her good works and her good deeds were trying to get herself in the heaven and christ calls that in equity in john uh…
rather than the seven twenty three so i’m i believe that she’ll probably in bad shape uh… she uh… in fact uh… uh… basically admits now and now these letters that have come out that she didn’t even pray the last two years of her life and uh… she was up really questioning whether it was even a god so i think the poor woman was really trying to work her way to heaven all this time and never really saved at all and that is a bad example could you give me one example of someone that you think that might be beaten with few stripes uh…
and not with many spicin health the type of All I can say is that God is the one who is going to make that evaluation, but sometimes those that are misleading people, it seems to be those of the most serious sins. The religious leaders who were morally really right on target, they tried to keep the law in the commandments, but yet they misled people. Christ said in Matthew 23 several times that they would receive a greater degree of punishment because they misled people spiritually and that seems to be the greater crime and the one who received the greater punishment.
So knowing God’s will for example for salvation and then turning from it and then misleading others concerning it would be the highest form of crime. Thank you so much. We’re now going to go to Verdel in Miami, Florida and Verdel welcome to Bibleline you are on the air. Hello? Hi, you’re there on the air with us. Thank you, Dean Michael. I wanted to know and I say at your church you’re not getting, and it’s really not helping you in your spiritual.
Well, obviously I think you need to get in a good church where the Bible is taught and you’re going to get fed and you might have to leave and find one. Obviously you can sit there and just not make any progress in your personal life unless you are getting the word of God. And so I don’t know what they are teaching, but obviously if you’re claiming you’re not being fed, they must not be opening up the Bible and teaching it to you there at the services.
So I think maybe you need to look around. I think a lot of other people perish and that’s what’s going on. Exactly. Yeah. Well, Verdal, thank you for calling. I’m glad you’re able to listen to us down in Miami. We’re excited about being on the air down there. Thank you. All right, you got it. God bless you. a good Bible believing teaching church. They’re becoming scarce. Church of the day are going to entertainment and drama and everything else to attract people rather than giving out the Word of God.
If you read 2 Timothy 4, Paul tells Timothy in this pastoral epistle that our number one mission as a pastor and as a church is to preach the Word to teach it. And that’s really getting rare. I mean, there are a few churches is now even used the Bible. And that’s really too bad. We’ve got a lot of more offer questions. We’ll probably take some more of those tomorrow. And of course, live questions will take those tomorrow too when you call in.
And we’re glad that you were listening today. I hope you’ve enjoyed. Bibleline is coming to you out of Tampa, Florida from the studios here at the Calvary Community Church. We’re on pastor and We thank God for every one of you that listen and hope the plant program is a blessing to you that you’re getting answers to your questions. I Remember lady called and she said you know I asked my pastor a question He said submit it writing and give me eight weeks.
She said I didn’t have eight weeks She said I called Bible and I got an answer right then Well, that’s what we attempt to do is give you a straight shooting answer right out of the Bible and not make you wait eight weeks to get that answer. If I don’t know the answer, we’ll try to research it and get it for you, but we sure do give it a good try to get you a Bible answer right now. If you haven’t been saved, trust Jesus as your Savior, would you, as your only hope of heaven and God will save you?
If you would pray for Bibleline, that would be great and also if you could help us, give us a call here and give a gift by credit card, would you? You’ve got to run, time has run out, but keep looking up, Jesus is coming, and Lord willing, we’ll be back again tomorrow with you, and I hope you’ll be there listening at the other end. We have missionaries around the world that are listening to Bibleline and that’s exciting. And also you might have family members in another country that would really appreciate hearing something from back home and maybe Bibleline would be a refreshment for them and especially if they’re Christians or want to maybe get in on the Bible study with us each day as we talk about Bible issues and answer Bible questions right here on the air.
If there’s a chance you might want to go to Israel, there’s a possibility we can still get you on board so give me a call and we’ll talk to you about that. Also we want you to take advantage of the website and look at our online bookstore. We’ve got that Jay Vernon McGatie commentary that’s a five volume set, beautifully bound and really a wonderful, wonderful tool in getting into the Bible if you’re a student or you’re teaching others a Sunday school teacher, this would be dynamite to have on your shelf.
And it really retails for 200. We have it for a gift right now of 100 and it’s a bargain. That is a real nice set. And you’ll find it really helpful. In every chapter of the Bible, there’s commentary and that’s exciting. Anyway, we’re excited about being with you every day, and I hope you’ll come by and see us sometime. We’ve had, as I mentioned earlier, guests here, two different families didn’t even know each other coming down here and visiting us here from Michigan who listen up there every day out of the station in Lansing, Michigan.
