Welcome to Bibleline great to be with you and we’re coming to you live from Israel. We are here in Jerusalem and obviously one of the most special cities in the world. A lot of people don’t realize that Jerusalem will become the world’s capital when Jesus comes back and his second coming seven years after the Rapture and will rule and reign over this earth as King of Kings and Lord of Lords for a thousand years.
Great to be with you. We’re coming to you from our hotel and I wish you could be on the trip. We’ve had a wonderful time, everything has been safe, everything has been great, the weather has been great, the food has been great, the hotels have been great and we’ve just been able to see so much and we’ve had a great time. We have been able to baptize in the Jordan, we had 12 people that we’ve baptized in the Jordan yesterday and we’re looking forward to many, many more exciting adventures as the time goes along and we’re going to try to bring you on board and share with you some of the things that we have done here just recently.
And by the way, you can call in to our 800 number and leave an offer question. And we’ll try to answer that. And also, you can go on to the internet, go to our website, BibleLineMinistries.org, and click on the spinning globe. And on that page that comes up, you’ll be able to pack in a question, leave your first name and city in, and we’ll get that as well. So you can participate. And we hope that you will. And we would love to take your live calls, but that’s a little more complicated for us.
But we’re glad that you’re on board. We hope that you’ll take a look at our website and take a look at the online bookstore. But also, you can take a look at our worship services. They are all there for the past year. If you go there and click on the camera on the home page, you’ll be connected to the worship services. and there’s years where the servants sitting there for you to watch and listen to. And if you want to order any of those on DVD, you can play them on your DVD player, and if you have a large screen, you can invite the neighborhood to come watch one of the services with you.
And we’re excited about being with you today. Our internet, we have 154 countries that have logged on, including Israel, and most every Middle Eastern country over here has logged on to our website. So we hope that you’ll pass that word on to your friends in the Middle East or in the world or your missionaries. Let them know that they can tune in to Bible, wherever they might be. We’re going to take a look at the Bible for a few minutes and we’re going to come back and look at some of the questions that have come in.
But we’re living in a most interesting world. Have you ever thought about this? Here we are in the Middle East and in Iraq the Garden of Eden was in Iraq. Did you know that Mesopotonia, which is now Iraq, was the cradle of civilization? Did you know that Noah built the ark in Iraq? Did you know that the Tower of Babel was in Iraq? Did you know that Abraham was from Orr, which is in southern Iraq? Did you know that Isaac’s wife, Rebecca, was from the Orr, which is in Iraq?
Did you know that Jacob met Rachel in Iraq? Did you know that Jonah preached in Nineveh, which is in Iraq? Did you know Assyria, which is in Iraq, conquered the 10 northern tribes of Israel? Amos, the prophet, cried out in Iraq. Did you know that Babylon, which is in Iraq, destroyed Jerusalem, in turn to where the Jewish people captive into Iraq? Did you know that Daniel was in the lion’s den in Iraq? Did you know the three Hebrew children, Chadrak, Mechek, and Abednego were in the burning fiery furnace in Iraq?
And guess what? Jesus had to have been in Iraq because he was the fourth person in that burning fiery furnace, in that incredible all in Iraq. Charles Schazler, the king of Babylon, sold the handwriting on the wall in Iraq. Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon carried the Jews into captivity in Iraq. Ezekiel! He lived and preached in Iraq. The wise men most likely came from Iraq. The Empire of Man described in the book of Revelation as it is called Babylon was started as a city in Iraq.
Well, we’re living in the Middle East. We’re living in the last days. We believe Christ is coming soon and we’re excited about it. We stood today on the top of the Mount of Olives where the Bible tells us that the Bible is not a Bible. tells us that Christ stood as He ascended back to heaven. After He had been crucified and died and shed His blood in the face of the sins of the world, we find that He was buried for three days and then arose from the dead, shut Himself for a lot for forty days, and then He ascended back to heaven.
In Acts chapter 1 you have the story very clearly told, and we find that as Jesus said his final words as he gave the great commission, he says in verse 8 here it says, you shall receive power, Acts 1 8. After the Holy Spirit is come upon you that would have it at Pentecost, ten days after his ascension. And you shall be witnesses unto me, both in Jerusalem, in an old Judea, in an old Samaria, and unto the edimos parts of the earth.”
When he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up and a cloud received him out of their sight. While they looked steadfastly toward heaven, as he went up, the whole two men stood by them in white apparel, which also said, You menogality, why stand you gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as you’ve seen him go into heaven. We know that Christ was standing on the Mount of Olives when that took place and we know that he ascended bodily.
He ascended apparently slowly because they could watch him go on and we find that he ascended into heaven. We know that at the second coming, seven years after the rapture, that he will descend in the same way and guess what? According to the prophet Zachariah, his feet in that day will stand upon the Mount of Olives and when that happens, the amount of hours will leave in the midst. Part of it will go to the north part of the south, and a valley will be created that will allow water to flow from out under the new temple, the third temple that will be built right after the rapture, and that water will flow in two directions, and it will flow down to the Dead Sea, bring life to the Dead Sea, and also flow down to the Mediterranean.
If you know anything about your Bible geography, Jerusalem is dead center dead center between the Mediterranean and the Dead Sea. The water will flow half to the Dead Sea, half to the Mediterranean, and we find that Jesus will be ruling over the earth from Jerusalem when that happens. We’re excited because we were able to be there, but you know when Christ was toward the end of his earthly ministry, he went to the top of Mount of Olives as he ascended from the back side, the eastern side, and there he stayed probably with Mary Martha and Lazarus.
And he comes over the top of the Mount of Olives and begins to descend on the ancient road that was a Roman road in those days. And today our whole group walked down that road. That was exciting. And we walk obviously where Jesus walked 2,000 years ago on Palm Sunday as he came down the those slopes meet in lowly and riding a donkey, and the people strawed the way with palm branches and strewn the way with their clothes, and they cried out, Hosanna through the son of David.
Hosanna means save now. In other words, here they recognize he was a savior. Why? There was a great crowd of people that had gathered from all over to come to the Passover. It was about to be held that week and they had just heard and learned about Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead. And so they had a great curiosity. They wanted to see this man that raised somebody from the dead. And when they saw him coming down the slopes, they recognized him as being the Messiah because only God can raise the dead.
And so they cried out, save now, now son of David. A title only the Messiah could have. Being of the lineage of David, we find the Messiah would sit upon the throne of David, ruling over Israel forever and ever. And here he was coming down those slopes and he pauses on the way to weep over Jerusalem and over the Jewish people. And I’m going to read because we took time today to read that passage and reflect on what Christ said and what it meant.
In Matthew chapter 20, He was rejected by his leadership and he knew that. And so he says in Matthew chapter 23 in verse 37, Oh Jerusalem Jerusalem. Thou that kill us the prophets and stone them what you’re sending to thee. How often would I have gathered thy children together? Now that kills the prophets and stones them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as the hen gathered chickens under her wings, and you would not.
And so here he came to receive them and take them in under his wings, but they would not. And so he says in verse 38, Behold your house is left unto you desolate. The house was the temple, and that temple was destroyed, and Christ predicts the destruction of the Second Temple. The first temple, built by Solomon, was destroyed in BC 606 by Nebuchadnezzar. The Second Temple that was built after the return from the Babylonian exile was now to be destroyed in 8070.
And here Jesus tells about how that house would be left bestlet. And he says, I say in the verse 39, that you shall not see me henceforth till you shall say, Blessed is he that comest in the name of the Lord. So we find here, he says, I’m out of here. Christ was going to be crucified, buried, resurrected, and then show himself alive for 40 days and then return back to heaven and he says I’m leaving. You shall not see me.
Henceforth tell you shall say, blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord. What does that mean? It means that not until the Jewish people, a large number of them, would say happy is the one that comes to God or comes to the Father through Jesus Christ. He would not come back until then. You see, the name of the Lord is really the name Yeshua. And Yeshua is the combination of two words, God’s personal name, which is YHWH, and the word YAHSHAH, which means salvation.
And YHWH and YAHSHAH together means Yeshua, and Yeshua in English is Jesus. And we know that already, there seems to be a turning where Jewish people are coming to know the Messiah. And that’s just the beginning of the seed planting, I believe, that will happen before the rapture. And once the rapture happens, then I believe millions of Jews will come to know Christ. And they will say, happy is the one who comes to the Father in the name of the Son.
And then Christ, of course, will return. So we had a chance to walk all the way down to the bottom of the Mount of Olives, and there we saw the Garden and we could look up and, sure enough, right ahead of us was the wall of the temple mount, and there was the Eastern Gate, and it was sealed up and shut, as the Bible said it would be, as the prophet Ezekiel spoke about that much, much earlier in history, as Ezekiel talked about this gate as being the gate that the Messiah would go through.
In a Ezekiel, chapter 44, you read about this and it’s incredible. Really? It says that he brought me back the way of the gate of the outward court or outward sanctuary, which is the temple in Jerusalem, which looked toward the east and it was shut. Verse 2 says, and the Lord said unto me, this gate shall be shut. It shall not be opened, and no man shall enter in by it, because the Lord the God of Israel has sinned in by it.
Therefore it shall be shut.” Now notice it says in this verse Ezekiel 44-2 that the Lord the God of Israel has entered in by it. When did God go through that Eastern Gate into the temple area when Christ was here the first time? He went in another gate every time he visited the temple. on Palm Sunday, he went right in through that gate and then he was rejected by the leadership and the Bible said that that gate would be walled up and not open again until Jesus came back and sure enough you can look at that wall today with your own eyes and see it walled up just like the Bible said.
He used to be a website you could go to which had a camera trained on that gate so you could look at it any time of day of night. That was kind of fun to watch. And there is a website where you can go and look at the whaling wall which is the wall on the other side of the Temple Mount and you can watch it day and night and watch people come to the wall and pray. And you can actually leave a message for somebody to put in the wall.
It will be printed out by computer and somebody will take it and run it down to the whaling wall. And you can actually watch them take your note. Of course there’s a fee for this. But you can watch them take your note on your computer home and watch them take the note and put it in the crack in the wall. And that’s fascinating. So if somebody wanted to do that, it wouldn’t have to travel to Israel, but we’re going to be approaching that Western Wall this weekend.
We’re excited and we’ll be telling you about that as we do it. But here’s an amazing prophecy that the Eastern Gate would be walled up after Christ came the first time and how he would go in and out of this gate and then it would be sealed up and it would not be opened again until he would return. And so we believe Christ will come through there. As we look at it today we saw all kinds of Arab graves in front of that gate.
We know that the Arabs were strategizing saying we know that when the Messiah comes back, the deal to deliver Israel from all their enemies. We know that Christ claimed to be a priest and a priest can’t go through a graveyard or touch a dead body. So they placed all these graves right in front of the gate and they said, that’ll stop him. Jesus won’t be able to come back. Obviously they’re going to be wrong. will come back open that gate and go through and he will enter a third temple that will be rebuilt and that’s exciting.
Well I’m so glad that you’re listening today. This is Bibleline. I’m Dr. Inquiszto. We’re coming to you live from Israel and we are here in our hotel in Jerusalem and we’re just a couple of blocks from the wall that goes around the ancient city of Jerusalem. And we are in the New Jerusalem, which is, of course, contrasted with the ancient city of 2000 years ago. If you have any questions, you’re welcome to call in with those. Our operators are standing by.
And if you want to get it to us quicker than that, go to the internet and leave it on our radio page. Just click on the spinning globe after you go to BibleLineMinistries.org and you’ll be able to get a question to us. Well we have here a caller from Oldsmar, Florida. Her name is Darlene and she says, is it not true that the real meaning or rather the real gathering of Israel back to their homeland will be when they accept Christ as their Lord.
Now we have Israel back in the land now in exactly the fashion that Ezekiel the prophet described that they would go back in unbelief. And not all of them would be back, but a great many Jews would be back in the land to prepare the way for this tribulation period. But during the tribulation period many, many would trust the Lord of Savior and once Christ returns, then he will gather every Jew on the whole planet back to the homeland.
And so it’s partially correct, but it really will be fully fulfilled when Christ returns in every Jew. Now we have to go back and realize that Jewish people need to trust Christ and Savior just like we do. And if Jewish people or Gentile people are living at the end of the tribulation period, the seven years that will follow the rapture and they have not trusted Jesus Christ as their Savior, they will be slain as Christ will slay everybody on the earth that is not trusted Christ.
So in a sense, if you are not a believer of the rapture and you are left behind, you have got seven more years to trust the Lord. If you don’t, then it is toast, then it is over, then it is too late because Christ will come back and destroy every unbeliever. But at that point, all the Jews in the world that know Christ, who are left behind at the Second Coming, seven years after the Rapture, will be gathered back into the homeland by Jesus Himself.
He will send out His angels to gather them from the four corners of the earth. Thank you, Garlin, for calling in from I hope that answered your question. If not, you’re welcome to call again. We have here Dan in Tampa, Florida, and he leaves this off for a question. Hi, pastor. Could you please explain to me those who preach worldly rewards instead of heavenly rewards using Luke 638 about tithing in rewards overflowing and these other passages in Matthew and so on.
Thank you so much. Well, obviously the rewards that we are to expect are primarily heavenly rewards. rewards. But there are three rewards, but usually what we have in the way of the health wealth and prosperity movement is talking about getting rich here on the earth. But we know that if we live for the Lord, God promises rewards here and there. Let me read a great verse. It’s over in 1st Timothy 4, verse 8. And if you have a Scofield Bible out which I recommend that you get, it’s on page 1276.
But in 1 Timothy 4 verse 8 it says, for bodily exercise, prophetess little. But godliness is profitable unto all things. The word prophet refers to rewards. Salvation is always spoken of as a gift in the Bible. So it says here, bodily exercise, prophetess little. So the rewards in this life are little in small compared to the rewards where we receive in heaven. But it says, but godliness is profitable into all things, having promise of the life that now is, rewards here and now, and of that which is to come.
And it says, this is a faithful saying worthy of all acceptation. We need to pay attention and realize that living for Christ here will bring about eternal evidence in heaven, plus we’ll be rewarded or blessed while we are here on the earth as well. Let me take one more of these and we’ll probably go to break and talk more about our trip here in Israel and I hope you’re enjoying the commentary on the trip. And maybe you can go with us next year.
If you want to call and leave us your information, we’ll try to keep you informed. Question from Derek. In Inglewood, Florida is tithing a requirement in the church age. I asked my pastor about tithing and he ties Genesis 14 and Hebrews 7 to support new testament tithing. Is this accurate? And the answer is no. Tithing was obviously a command in the Old Testament and it was part of the law and certainly Abraham did tithe when he met Melchizedek, the fact that he was in Genesis 14 and we find that therefore all of the Levitical priests, according to Hebrews, paid their ties in Abraham.
But actually under this age of grace we give from the heart and not because we’re obligated or because it is required of us. So technically we still should give but not give it because we’re obligated because we do it from the heart. When I say goodbye to Miami we’re so glad that we’re on in Miami Florida and reach all all the way from Marathon Fort all the way up to West Palm and you’re going to close out here in just a few seconds and want to say goodbye and encourage you to listen again all this week as we talk about our trip here as I’m in Israel right now in Jerusalem and we’ll catch you again tomorrow unless you’re listening on the internet you can hear the rest of today’s program.
Now back to our audience in other cities that get the full hour and we’re excited to be here in Jerusalem. A number of the people in our group are right here in the room with me as we do the radio show and they’re all smiling and all enjoying this trip. And they’re waving at you, I don’t know if you out there on your radio can see them waving at you, but they’re waving right now. And obviously with a sanctified imagination as a believer, you ought to be able to see them with their smiling faces and their waving hands cheering and waving here from Jerusalem.
We’re having a good time. A safe time. We haven’t seen anything that would make us afraid except one time our bus driver is coming down the hill a little bit fast. But otherwise we were not frightened at all. But that didn’t cause a few to really get their eyes open being wide. But we hope that you’ll come with us on another trip and I hope you’re going to be listening all this week as we tell you some of the things that we experience every day.
But we’ve had great hotels, great meals, a great bus that we ride on, and just great adventures, seeing so many things. And obviously we couldn’t relate them all because time is just too short. But we hope that everybody listening is a believer. If you’ve never trusted Christ as your Savior, you need to do that. It’s the only means of entering heaven. In the part from Christ you cannot go to heaven. You must trust him as your only hope of heaven.
Trusting that he died and said his blood to feed for your sins was buried and rose again from the dead. And when you do that, God, up in heaven saves you. And you can know that you saved because God has made that wonderful promise. Oh, we’re going to go to break. We’ll come back and do a second half hour. Keep your radio tuned for the right word is. You’re going to help Bibleline. You can call our operators back in the States and they’ll be glad to take your gift or send you a envelope so you can mail it to the church.
gift but that we can certainly use your help because that’s the only means by which we can pay for the radio time. And right now here’s break time and we’ll take that break and we’ll come right back. Don’t go away. Bibleline will be back in a moment. Give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. It’s the 3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. I’m so glad to be able to be with you today. I’m Dr. Hank Listerman. We’re in Jerusalem. We’re here in Israel. I know that it’s amazing today to take knowledge of you that would allow us to be able to broadcast to you.
It’s amazing to me that we can be here and yet we can talk to you, our audience, in the states and bring to you a report about our trip each day and still be connected with you to take your college questions and we hope that you will certainly call in and leave your question and our operators will be glad to forward that on to us or you can go directly to us by going to the website address BibleLineMinistries.org. Click on the spinning globe.
The page will come up. It’s already ready to go for you to fill in those questions. And you can put your first name in and address and hit submit. And we’ll get it right here in Jerusalem and we’ll be able to answer your question on the air. So thank you in advance for that. By the way, take a look at our Resource Center online or call and ask for a resource sheet to be sent to you. We have lots of wonderful things that will help you in your growth and in your evangelism of others and the winning of your family and friends to Christ.
We hope you’ll be glad to take advantage of that resource you will send out and I think you’ll be glad if you order some of the materials we have that will definitely help you because because we really believe the things we have in our resource center are valuable. I bought a lot of books in my time on this planet and a lot of them aren’t worth a whole lot. They’re not worth the paper printed on, but we try to make sure that every book we have is going to be the best value for your dollar to help you grow and be strong as a Christian.
In case we hope that you’ll pray for us, we should ride safely back next week and we’ll be live back in Tampa, Florida on pipeline. But in the meantime, do pray for our safety and do pray for God’s blessing. We’ve led people to Christ. We’ve baptized 12 people in the Jordan River. We’re drinking in all the sites and the word of God as we study it and look at the sites where these things took place. getting an education that is making their brains swell.
Our group is a bunch of swell heads at this big at a point in the trip. We’re having a great time that way. But to indicate we’d love to have you on the next trip. So call us and get on the list so we can communicate with you about the next trip. We’re not going to rejoin stations that have been on break and do the second half hour of Bibleline. So please keep your radio tuned to right where it is and we’ll come back and do a a second half hour of Bible and white now.
When you like to call Bibleline and ask Dr. Lynch from a question, you can. Just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Now here again is Dr. Hank Lynch from Looking at our Bibleline and we’re coming to you from Jerusalem in Israel. What an amazing is amazing to me. But here we are on the other side of the planet, and we’re able to bring this program to you from Israel. And we hope that you’ll pray for us.
We’re going to share with you some of the things that we’re enjoying. And I know that you’ll… I really, really think enjoy this series of programs all this week. So I hope you’ll listen every day. Tell your friends to tune in the program as well. And we’re going to have a great time. We’ve had such a wonderful time so far. We’ve had a great bus and a great guide and great weather and great food and great hotels and just great adventures.
And we have seen so much. It seems like a blur in a way because there’s so much that we’ve seen every day, hard to digest at all. And that’s why if you go with me, you’ll have to come back and do it again to be able to drink it all in. But we sure would love to have you here with us. And the best we can do is share the trip with you and have you kind of go along with us as we talk about what we’ve seen.
Today, we had a great day starting out at the top of the Mount of Olives, the mountain upon which Christ ascended from and will return to Zechariah 14, 4, says his feet will touch down on the Mount of Olives. And he’ll split that mountain and it says in that day there will be one Lord and one King and that will be Christ. Really over the earth from Jerusalem, as Jerusalem will become the world’s capital. We also have a chance to walk down the slopes of the Mount of Olives and there is exactly That’s exactly what Christ did on Palm Sunday.
And in Zechariah, it had predicted this event, hundreds and hundreds of years in advance before it happened. You have your Bible handy someplace, open to Zechariah chapter nine. The next to the last book in your Old Testament. And here in Zechariah nine, in verse nine, page 973, if you have to have a Scofield Bible, and I hope all of our listeners have gotten themselves one. If not, you can order them through our resource center. And this is a King James edition of the Bible.
But with notes, my doctor, C.I. Schofield, and the 1909 and the 1970s, the 17 editions are the ones you want to have. The newer ones have watered the notes down and added notes or not, but I have to Schofield, many of which those new notes I disagree with. Here it says in Zachariah 9 9, Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion. The prophet Zachariah was writing long before this would take place and he talks about those daughters of the Jewish people living at the time when he was prophesying those that would live in future generations.
They should rejoice because they would be living to see when the siacom. He says, Rejoice O daughter of Zion, shout O daughter of Jerusalem, Behold thy king, come us unto thee, He is just, and having salvation, lowly, and riding upon an ass, upon the colt the full of an ass. Here is an amazing prophecy telling of Christ coming down the slopes of the Mount of Olives on Palm Sunday, hundreds and hundreds of years before it ever took, isn’t it, incredible?
And here is Zachariah writing to that future generation, he would be living to see it, said rejoice. And he doesn’t say just rejoice, and he says rejoice greatly. O daughter of Zion, shout in fact. O daughter of Zion because thy king cometh under thee, he’s just having salvation, lowly, riding upon an ass on the cold before the last. Well that is quoted in the New Testament. You turn over to the Book of Matthew, you’ll find that on Palm Sunday when Christ comes winding down the slopes of the Mount of Olives, we find that the Bible quotes this very passage.
It says here that Jesus told his disciples, this is Matthew chapter 21 in verse 2, saying into them, go into the village over against you, in straight way you shall find an ass tied and a coat with her, loose them and bring them unto me. If any man say ought unto you, you shall save the wardeness, neither of them. In straight way he will send them.” Now verse 4, are you ready for this? Matthew 21 verse 4. All this was done, but it might be fulfilled, which is spoken by the prophet, saying, talking about the prophet Zachariah.
And here’s the quote, tell you the daughter of Zion, Behold, like King, come us under the meek and sing upon an ass and a coat the full of an ass. And so you hear the prophecy is quoted as being fulfilled by that event when Christ comes down the slopes of the Battle of Oz. We today walk down that slope down the very same road, the Roman road of that day that Connected. Thorese to the other side of the Mount of Oz and the city of Bessidy and other cities and that was the route that Jesus took.
He came from Bessidy, probably staying the night with Mary and Martha and Lazarus, and walked over to Jerusalem. And the crowds were already gathered for the feast of Passover, and they also heard that Christ was coming. and they wanted to see the man who could raise from the dead, and here they cry out and acknowledge that Jesus is the Messiah. They say, Hosanna, which means save now to the son of David. Did you know that in Psalm 118, it foretold those very words being spoken.
Let’s turn there in our Bible. you get your Bible handy and in Psalm 118 it tells us about the event that would take place. What is interesting is that every year Jewish people read this psalm at the Passover and yet it goes right over their head and they miss that this is a prophecy about the Messiah. It says here that Christ who is the cornerstone, who is the stone, becomes refused in verse 22. The stone which the builders refused has become the headstone of the corner.
This is the Lord’s doing. It is marvelous in our eyes. And then verse 24, which is the verse that is very popular, but usually people miss the meaning of it. It says, this is the day which the Lord hath made. We will rejoice and be glad in it. I have been in so many homes that have that verse on a plaque on the wall. I’ve seen so many in the Christian bookstores a plaque that people might want to buy and take home.
Usually people apply the verse in this way. They get up in the morning and say, this is the day that the Lord has made. We’re going to be glad and rejoice in it. But guess what? In the context here, he’s talking about one day in all of history that is more significant than any other day that we, each of us, every day of our lives on a thank God for that day and that’s the day that Jesus died on the cross of Calvary.
That’s the day that God has made. That’s the day that God has planned, is God planned for the redemption of the human race. And he says, this is the day which the Lord hath made. We will rejoice and be glad in it. And then the people responded and said, save now, save now, I be sichedy. And it says, oh Lord, oh Lord, I be sichedy, send now prosperity. You see when Christ does come and the first coming He brought salvation, there’s a second coming He’ll bring peace on earth, good will toward men.
Here this is the day that God had planned for the redemption of mankind and for our prosperity that we might truly be saved and live with Him eternally and then we’ll enjoy the true riches. But it says then in verse 26, the lesson is He that cometh in the name of the Lord. talked about that in the first half hour that Jesus said he was out of here because he was rejected and he says you don’t see me henceforth tell you shall say blessed is he that cometh to the name of the Lord.
Here we have Christ the first time coming as Yeshua or in the English Jesus and he made it very plain that if you trust him that you could then come to the Father. And if you reject Christ, you cannot come to the Father. So Jesus said in John 14, 6, I am the way. I am the truth. I am the life. No man can come. No man can come under the Father by me. So blessed were happy as the one who comes to the Father and the name of Yiswah, or Jesus because you admitted entrance.
If you don’t believe on Jesus, Jesus said earlier because many Jews did not believe on him, he said you cannot come. You cannot come. Where do I go? You cannot come. Why? Because you reject who I am. And if you want to come, you have to trust Christ. And blessed are happy is the one who comes in that name because you’ll be granted admittance to heaven where if you haven’t, you’ll be denied access to heaven. Isn’t it Atkredible? And so here you have the very thing that we have a chance to experience today for a prophecy fulfilled in Christ’s day.
Jesus would walk down the slopes of the Mount of Olives, Zachariah in chapter 9 verse 9, about how you would ride a donkey and how that you would come lonely, make… He talks about Christ as a great conqueror, a great deliverer, one who would deliver Israel from their enemies, and that happens at his second coming. So when you’re reading your Bible, sometimes you have to say this verse is about the first coming, and in Zachariah 9, 10 it’s actually jumping to the second coming.
And you have to be able to read carefully and divide until the second coming. read carefully and divide until the difference while you’re reading it. But then we came to the very bottom and there’s a valley that separates Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives called the valley Kidron. And in the bottom of the valleys of the Brook, called the Brook Kidron, and Jesus of course crossed through that valley, over that Brook and ascended up to that Eastern Gate which we talked about earlier that is now sealed up.
walked right through it into the temple area and there the priests, the religious leaders rejected him and Christ now was on his way to Calvary and to die to pay for our sins. So here we have an amazing turnaround. He’s coming down the slough slopes of the Mount of Olives and the populous agonities of Messiah and then the leadership reject him and the next couple of days he’s on the path to die on the cross of Calvary as the Passover Lamb.
They were gathered to celebrate Passover and here was the Lamb of God that would be slain to pay for our sins. It’s interesting a lot of people ask me and I had a couple of questions today about the elements used in the Lord’s Supper, which is a memorial service to remind us of what Christ did on the cross of Calvary. The elements give us a beautiful picture about Christ and what he did in that the bread represented his body.
It was on Leaven bread, which Leaven speaks in the Bible of evil or sin. Because it was on Leaven bread, it spoke about the sinless body of Christ. Then about the juice that was used, it could not have been wine and nowhere does the Bible ever use the word wine in connection with the Lord’s Supper. And the reason why is for wine to become wine from grape juice, it has to go through a corruptive process called fermentation. And so wine has gone through a corruptive process.
The Bible says that Christ’s blood was incorruptible. And so the Bible is very clear not to use the word wine in connection with the Lord’s And yet how many churches are using wine? But they destroy the picture that’s to be presented every time we offer upWER the elementsAssuming as the celebration of the crucifixion of Christ for our sins. And they represent His sinless body and His incorruptible blood. And so I think it’s really wrong to use leavened bread. And it’s equally wrong to use wine.
both speak of a corrupted Christ or a sinful Christ and the unleavened bread and the pure great juice from the vine speak of a sinless Lamb of God that went down, that this was the way that God would have us represent his death when we do the Lord’s Supper. I’m going to think I’ll take a couple of calls here. If you’d like to call in, you can leave some questions. It’s 1-800-576-3771. Carolyn, from somewhere in Florida, does it say, leaves us off your question, where does the well-known image of Christ’s face come from?
Well, guess what? It came from an artist, a man named Solomon, and he sketched that painting with a long, long-haired Jesus, and I happen to be attending a conference in Miami Beach, Florida, where I actually heard him tell the story of how he painted that painting. He said that he awoke in the middle of the night. He saw a vision of what he thought was Christ. He quickly awoke and got up and sketched quickly what he saw, went back to sleep, and in the morning proceeded to paint the famous Solomon Head of Christ, which a lot of people have, which has a soft face Jesus with long hair over the shoulders and many churches have that hanging in their churches.
Many people have wallet size for copies of it and their wallets. But there’s those research that involve it. The reason why we know it didn’t be from the Lord is because Jesus has long hair in that picture. I believe Christ had short hair. If you read 1 Corinthians 11 verse 14, this is not even nature’s self, teach you that it is a shame for a man to have long hair. So, since Jesus is God, he’s the author of scripture, I don’t believe he would violate his own word.
Secondly, when you think about the hairstyle of the time of Christ, everybody wore short hair. Look at the statues. They all had short hair cut off the ears, off the neck. In fact, the most popular cut was what I call the Caesar Cut. The Caesars were the ones that were the trendsetters and people dressed like and had their hair cut like Caesar. If you are a man in that pattern, you’re going to be a man in that pattern. and you went into the barber shop and the barber said, how would you like to have your haircut?
Usually most men would say, give me that Caesar Cut. That was the popular cut. Off the years, off the neck and combed forward in short bangs and that was the popular haircut of the day. So Jesus didn’t have a hairstyle different from others and in fact if he did, everybody in the known world at that time was wearing short hair. So if he had one here, why did they have to pay Judas to betray him? Why didn’t they send the soldiers out and say, find the first guy with long hair and you’ve got him!
Puff him and bring him in. You’ve got the right man. Well obviously, Jesus looked like everybody else. Judas was paid 30 pieces of silver to betray him and Christ had rather Judas had to walk over to him and actually embrace him and kiss him. to betray him to point out this is the one that is the Messiah. And so, and there are other reasons, but certainly, the Bible is clear that Christ must have had short hair. So that painting was a vision that he had.
I don’t think that vision came from God, and I think it’s completely wrong. I’ll take one more and then we’ll go back to some of the trip that we’ve been on here in Jerusalem. And it says here, it doesn’t tell me who sends this question in, but this one is a recent question, he’s coming in the other day, falling away is not the rapture, it’s apostasy, and then it says, I’m pretty sure, that sounds doubtful to me, okay. So here’s the person making a dogmatic statement, and then coming back and saying they’re pretty sure about it.
I believe you’re talking about Second Place of the New Chapter Two, where we’re talking about falling away first, and then the man of sin, the Antichrist, will be revealed. Well, excuse me, the word falling away is a Greek word that means departure. And the King James translators thought it would be a departure from the word, and that is apostasy. But I believe they’re wrong because later in the context it talks about a personality, He that now hindreth sin in this world, it has to be God the Holy Spirit.
And God the Holy Spirit who now hinders iniquity this world will continue to hinder iniquity the Bible says until He be taken out of the way. So the departure is that of the Holy Spirit. When He goes we go and when we go that’s the Rapture, then the Antich look up the Greek word which is translated flowing away and it is a word that means departure. And it’s the departure of the Holy Spirit and when the Holy Spirit departs, the church departs with Him and will meet the Lord in the air and Christ will come back.
Thank you for that good question, whoever you are and wherever you might be. We invite you to call and leave a question. You can get 1-800-576-3771. We’re in Jerusalem. We’re in Jerusalem. This program, by the way, is coming to you all this week from Israel. We’ve got a lot of exciting adventures ahead, but we’ve already done and seen so many things. We certainly would love to have you join us at least by way of radio this week. If you’d like to be on the next trip we take, please call and leave your information.
We’ll try to keep you informed as we decide where, what, and how we’ll do the next trip. we would love to have you become a part of that. Today we were on the Mount of Olives, we walked all the way down the slopes, and the Mount of Olives is called Mount of Olives, guess why? Because they’re olive trees all over the Mount of Olives. And at the base of the Mount, as you imagine it would collect the olives from the trees all up around and it’s easier to walk down than it is to walk up.
It’s been carried to the base of the mountain and there was a place where they pressed the olives and got the olive oil. And the word gassamity means wine press. There at the bottom of Mount of Olives was Gethsemane, the wine press where all these Olives would be collected and would be pressed. That’s where Jesus and his disciples would often resort. There are about eight olive trees there that they believe are over 2,000 years of age. And as our guide said today, some say our living witnesses today of Jesus and his ministry and what he did on the night of his betrayal.
Can you imagine these trees were living when Christ was here. These trees observed Christ coming into the garden. They observed the soldiers that came and took Christ that night as he was taking away to go to the cross the next day. These trees are still living and they are living witnesses to what happened 2,000 years ago. Isn’t it quite a thought? Wow! And so we stood within feet of these trees that are over 2,000 years old that are probably, if we could get them to talk, could tell us a story.
In that give you goosebumps, it really does. People, our audience are just kind of rubbing their arms here because it’s, we were there. We were standing right there and this is what happened 2000 years ago when Christ came and died for your sins in mind. We were there in that Garden of Yosemite. This is where the Olives of the Olives were pressed. Well Jesus of course we know was pressed as he took the sins of the world upon himself And obviously as a result of his death and his shed blood as he died upon the cross, purchase for you and for me ever lasting life.
And once you trust him, you can be assured of going to heaven you receive at the moment you believe ever lasting life. And I’m glad I found out about this wonderful story at 18, even though I was raised in church, nobody ever told me. eternal life was a gift that was purchased by Christ and that there was nothing I could do. That’s why he came and died in my place. If I would only trust him, I would be saved and I would be saved eternally.
And obviously that is quite a wonderful truth. Today we also went to Bethlehem. A lot of people haven’t gone to Bethlehem in recent years because it It is a city given over to the Palestinian Authority. At the inner, we had to go to a checkpoint. We had to change buses. We all of a sudden left Israel’s protection, and all of a sudden we saw people with guns that were of the Palestinian Authority. I think our whole group felt a little bit nervous at whole time and the audience right here in front of me is nodding their head yes.
And so here we went under the so-called protection of the Palestinian Authority and we went to the traditional site of the birth of Christ and there were lots of people there from other countries to visit the birthplace and we went through the traditional site and we were able to read the scriptures in Luke 2 we were able to sing Silent Night together in this place which may be the authentic place. We know that it certainly was perhaps like the authentic place if not the real place but certainly we knew we were in Bethlehem and somewhere nearby if not there where we were standing Christ took on human flesh.
took on flesh in order to become our Savior. And we of course saw also the place where Jerome came in the third century and translated the Bible into Latin, the translation being the Latin Vulgate, whereas the normal Bible that we have as Protestants or non-cassonic people is a Bible directly translated from the Greek and Hebrew into English. But several of the Catholic translations are translations from the Latin Vulgate into English. So they go from the Greek and Hebrew to Latin and then from Latin to English and much more caused for fear about a translation problem because you’re going from a couple languages but the king james is a direct translation out of the original hebrew in greek in the english in case it’s very interesting to uh…
He was the first to learn of his presence here and the work that he did. And we saw the little town of Bethlehem. You think about that song, old little town of Bethlehem. I’ll still see the line. And just below we can see the separate fields where the announcement was made about Jesus’ birth. Well, we’re out of time. We’re going to have to talk to you tomorrow. I hope you’ll be back with us tomorrow on Bibleline. I’m Dr. Hank Lindstrom.

So far we’ve had a safe experience. experience, a wonderful experience. Everybody is, if anything, just tired from the rigorous schedule we’ve had. We get up early, we go to bed late, and we run hard all in between.
So everybody’s kind of dragging a little bit at the end of the day, and usually they sleep like babies, I guess. I know that they go out totally, at least I do, and we wake up in the morning ready to go and do another day. So pray for it. If you’d like to be on the next trip call and get your name on the list for the next trip and we’ll be able to maybe plan it around your desires.
