That’s right. You know, I was in Israel a couple of months ago and I was able to check out my own worship service and my own radio programs by checking them there in Israel on the internet. We have people from all over the world that are letting us know that they’re seeing and hearing our programs. We have 156 countries that have logged on. Give it a try. BibleLineMinistries.org and we have a new section on our website now called Music for Children.
Oh, is that ever good? Some great CDs that you can sample, listen to online, putting your child, grandchild, nephew or nieces name in there. about 240 choices and they’ll hear their name about 45 times if you get the CD. You could order it, have it chipped right out to your house and I’ll tell you it’s had an incredible impact upon my granddaughter, 30 months old. She loves this CD and wants to hear it again and again and again and she’s memorized most every song.
It’s wonderful. It’s a great tool to help you communicate with your children about the Lord because these These CDs will just change their life. I guarantee it starts off by saying that God has made you special and uses their name and it’s very, very powerful. By the way, we are having a youth camp, June 23 through 28, and we still have a few spots left. They’re starting to fill up as people learn about it. If you’d like to send your teenager, they will have a wonderful time and I guarantee you, going to learn the Bible and come away with their, if they haven’t been saved, they would get saved pretty, pretty sure to that we usually have a great success rate.
And then of course they love, they learned the love the Word of God and no answers and become strong Christians by being able to answer and defend their faith and know what they’re talking about. So you might want to go, give us a call here and tell us you’re interested and we’ll put the right people in touch with you and we’ll be leaving on Monday morning the 23rd of June and returning Saturday the 28th and your children will have a great time at our summer youth camp.
So lots of things are going on here and we certainly of course want you to know that we are listeners supported. Some of you know that and you pray for us and we appreciate that and if you could give the Bible on we could use your help. This is summertime and in the economy and everything we are just a little bit short. We could use your help at this time if you would like to give us a gift today that would be great.
You could call and do it by credit card over the phone or call and ask for an envelope to be sent. We are really not trying to get your money. We want to be on the air. Guess what Miami are you listening? Guess what? In just about two more weeks we are going to have that full hour. Now I have committed that I don’t have the money. I need Miami or anybody listening in South Florida to really step up to the plate and help us out because we’ll be on for the full hour in the South Florida area on W MCU 1080 on the dial.
We’re excited about that. We’ve been praying. We’ve been asking you to pray about it. And obviously the door has opened and we’re going to walk through it. Trusting that you folks down in South Florida will help us pay for that so we can be on the air for the full hour down there in Miami. Just in about two weeks, we’ll be up on the air down there for you. And I’m excited about that. If you have your Bible there, I hope you do.
We’re going to try to get into the Bible and answer some questions. And hopefully you’ll call. We’ve got people already calling in with their questions, and we’ll try to answer those as quickly as we can. We’re going to talk a little bit today about the topic of being able to separate between being saved and being a disciple. I’m going to have you turn with me in the Bible and we’re going to turn over to Luke’s Gospel chapter 14. And here’s a lesson in rightly dividing the word of truth.
Get ready with your pen if you have one. Luke 14 verse 26, it says, If any man come to me, comma, stop right there and that is talking about salvation. How do we know the phrase there? If any men come to me, these are the words of Christ. They are in red if you have a red letter edition of the Bible. And the phrase, come to me, is typical of a salvation verse. Jesus said in Matthew 11, 28, come unto me, all you that labored and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
All you have to do is come to Christ. Anybody and everybody is invited to come, and it says he will simply give you salvation. It’s a gift received by simply trusting Christ as Savior. But now let me caution you that the rest of verse 26 and Luke 14 is not talking about salvation any longer, it’s talking about discipleship. And you know if you don’t rightly divide, guess what? You have a real mess on your hands because you’re confusing doctrines and mixing them all up.
They need to be separate. And the Bible talks about rightly dividing the word of truth. There are two different words that talk about this dividing. One is a word that means it’s us to chop or hack at something and obviously it doesn’t come out clean and understandable. The other word in the Greek means that with one swoop, with one slice, you cut it perfectly. That’s what we need to do as Christians. We need to be able to slice the Bible with one clean swipe and say this is This is talking about salvation, this is talking about discipleship and make the difference clear so that the person hearing us will understand the difference because we’re not saved by being disciples of Christ, we’re saved by trusting in the finished work of Christ at the cross and then we’re invited to become disciples and that’s where we live for
Christ and earn rewards. Let me go back to the verse we’re looking at Luke 14, 26, if any man come to me, come comma, stop, salvation, put it in the margin. Then the next part of the verse says, and hate not his father and mother and wife and children and brethren and sisters. Yay, his own life also. Look at the last phrase now, he cannot be my disciple. Now, it doesn’t say he can’t be saved. He says he can’t be my disciple.
You see there’s a price to be paid by us to become disciples. The price for salvation has been paid by Jesus at the cross and He said it is finished. So salvation is totally and completely purchased by Christ’s death. But discipleship is going to cost us a price and look at what it says here. Here’s the price. You have to hate your father and your mother and your wife and your children and brothers and you say, wait a minute.
I can’t understand that I should hate my father and mother and my wife and my children. Well, the word here is comparative. Basically all terms which define the emotions or affections in the Bible are comparative. It’s really saying here that your love for Christ in contrast to your love for others would be or your love for others in contrast to your love for Christ would be hatred. We need to love the Lord first and the Lord must ought to be first in our life and that’s what it’s saying here.
I used to have my own Bible college for 11 years and we graduated a lot of people out in the ministry. Most of them or many of them are still serving in different continents around the world that are doing our pastors or instructors in Bible colleges, military chaplains and while we have a host of people out there giving out a great message message that came through our Bible cause. Well, I had a candidate that wanted to come to the school from Kentucky.
When I was interviewing him as a prospective student for our college, he said, I said, where is your wife? I noticed you’re on the paperwork. You have a wife. Oh, she’s back in Kentucky. I said, how come she’s not with you? He says, well, I hate her. I said, you hate her. Yeah, he says the Bible says I’m supposed to hate my wife. This is the verse he referred to. I had to straighten him out. Obviously the Bible says you should love your wife.
Ephesians is quite clear, but in contrast to your love for Christ, your love for her would be hatred and that’s what it’s saying here. And for your children, for your brothers and sisters and everybody else. What it’s saying here, if you’re going to be a disciple, you have to put Christ first in your life. And I told him to get reconciled with his wife and bring her down and then he could come to college in our Bible college. If any man come to me, that’s the first part of Luke 14 and 26, is talking about salvation.
All you need to do is come to Christ, and He saves you. And any promises in John 6, 37, if you come to Him, He says, I will, in no wise, cast out anyone that comes to me. So He’ll never cast you out. He’ll never lose you. One should become Savior, save forever. But then to be a disciple and hate on His father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters yes, even his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.
The next verse goes on to say, and who’s remembered I not bear his cross and come after me? It says in the last phrase, cannot be my disciple. It cannot be my disciple. Down in verse 33, it says so likewise, who’s whoever he be of you that forsakeeth not all that he hath? He cannot be my disciple. This is talking about discipleship. So there’s a price to be paid, but how many times have you heard an evangelist or a preacher?
And I’ve heard it so many times. I want you to come forward at the invitation. And I want you to forsake all and follow Christ. Take up his cross and live daily for him. And they say all of that for you to be saved. And that is totally wrong. That is not rightly dividing the word. Because to be saved you simply trust Christ. You come to Him trusting what Christ did for you at the cross fully paid your sin debt.
And if you simply come to Him and trust Him, He saves you. But they mix up the Christian life with the invitation for salvation. And I’ve heard so many preachers over the years say, I want you to forsake all and follow Christ. I want you to take of this cross. They live daily for Him. I want you to come forward as the invitation is given. And guess what? They’re being told to do all those things to be saved that have nothing to do with salvation.
They have to do with the Christian life. You know, when I trusted Christ as my Savior, I received the free gift of everlasting life. I was 18 years of age. But it was not until a year later that I made up my mind I would live for Christ in serving. And I said, Lord, I’ll do whatever you want me to do. I’ll go wherever you want me to go. I’ll say whatever you want me to say. And that was a decision I made that was a lifelong decision for me, and I knew that that was what I would have to do to become his disciple.
But to be saved, I was already saved a year earlier by simply trusting what Christ did for me. And I did nothing for Christ over the coming year, but God began to work on me and He brought me to the place where I said, Lord, that is a stupid decision on my part. I am missing out not only now but for eternity on what I could have if I would only live for you. And so I said Lord I am now going to become your disciple.
I am going to do whatever you want me to do. I am willing to take up your cross and tell people about you. I am willing to come after you and follow you. I am willing to forsake all, whatever it might be. A lot of people thought I was crazy. graduated with a five-year degree at the University of Florida in electrical engineering that had been my goal since junior high. Science was the love of my life. And I said, Lord, I realize you want me to serve you.
And so I’m willing to go another direction. And upon my graduation from the University of Florida, I realized that God wanted me in full-time Christian service and so I never really practiced what I had studied so many years to be able to do in the secular world. But you know I think God used it because the thinking, the training that I got, A plus P is equal to C. The Bible made me look at the Bible in a way that other people, I think, don’t look at it, and that is to rightly divide it, to separate things out and make sure that it all makes sense.
And if you add the Christian line to salvation, it doesn’t make sense anymore because verses are clear about salvation not being of works, being the gift of God that there’s nothing required but you to simply come to Christ. And then the preachers will say at the same time you have to do all these things if you’re going to be saved. And I’ve had all kinds of people. confused over the years because they hear all these additional things that they have to turn from their sin, they have to walk the aisle, they have to unite with the church, so they have to be water baptized or they have to live the Christian life and the list goes on and on and on and it varies from church to church.
But basically they mix works with salvation when you have to rightly divide. And if you read Luke 14 26 and you do the rightly dividing the first phrase only talks about salvation. If any man comes to me, he comes to stop that salvation. The rest of the verse says you have to hate your father, your mother, your wife, your children, your brother, your sister, and your own life also. Or you cannot be, you cannot be my disciple. I believe very few Christians are disciples.
I believe most people that trust the Lord never become a disciple of Christ. Dr. Ehrma R. Mahan was one of my great mentors as a young believer, founder of the Radio Bible class, and he said, you know, 85% of Christians are shurkers, and only 15% are workers. And I said, you know, that sounds about right. Only 15% maybe of those who become saved are actually workers after they become saved, but 85% of those who get saved are shurkers that to check off their responsibility to do very little of nothing for Christ.
Sad which every believer would become a disciple, which everybody would be willing to forsake all and live for Christ, but very few are willing to do that. The price for discipleship is costly. It costs you everything. You have to say, Lord, I will do whatever you want me to do, and I will freely, willingly do that, and that is the price of discipleship. The price for salvation has been paid for by Jesus at the cross, it cost his life and shed blood.
And when you trust in his finished work, he saves you and saves you forever. We’re going to go to the phone lines. We have Sean patiently waiting in Chattanooga, Tennessee and Sean, welcome to Bible In Your On The Air. Oh, good morning. I feel like I’m being pushed away for what I’ve taken a stand about lately and really informing people of the truth. This seems to be a lot of resistance to what I say or it’s ignored. I’ve also been accused even by my own family of getting in people’s face with all of what I’m so-called, you know, getting in people’s sake call face of being passionate about and showing fervor or showing professing my beliefs in the public domain.
I’m forced to remain silent and psychologically persecuted and untested. I’m challenged. I feel I’m forced to compromise my own standards a lot of times or I’m forbidden to raise an issue about anything. If anything, I should actually be encouraged enthusiastically by my parents or other family members. It just occurs to me for some strange reason. It really baffles me to see that they actually negate my efforts or try to keep me on the sidelines with them, I guess, and take no action.
I want to be diligent about this. I’m not here to gloss over the facts when I tell people around here in my community something. I don’t like feel like I’m forced to be a capitulator. Well, son, you know. Yeah, I understand exactly what you’re saying. And obviously, join the club because those who will live for Christ are going to find that there’s going to be opposition to that. And you need to do it, of course, in love. You need to be careful that you’re not forcing someone.
But you’ll find that, and whenever you speak up for the truth, you’re going to find that you’re going to have opposition. You know, Jesus said, beware when all men speak well of you and sometimes your own family members are not. But in the last days it says that they would not endure sound doctrine. I looked up that word endure and it means they would stand up against sound doctrine and they would not put up with sound doctrine. You can look up the Greek word, but the word endure means to stand up against and not to put up with and that’s exactly what we see when we present the truth to some they’re going to stand against that they’re gonna fight you and they’re gonna not put up with it they don’t want to hear it so uh…
you need to be a favorite this is just continue but do it in love well thinking not only that but i feel like you know there’s a lot of time to treat being accused of hate speech and all this you know i got done you know being trained with the activity lessons by diversity officers I guess. I’m defensively I’m forced to defensively be like they are and shifting the subject of focus all the time. I don’t want to have my mind numbed.
I really don’t. I don’t want coddling or pandling to the wrong behavior that’s clearly wrong. And I don’t like making excuses for others or protecting their denial. Well, Sean, we’ll pray for you. All I can say is that you’re in the same group of Christians that have always stood for the truth and as you present the truth in love Ephesians tells us that we are to speak the truth in love but as we do there will be those who will not like to hear it and they will try to silence you or to persecute you for that and Paul obviously was an example of that he says that he was not loved and adored by everybody and he said that if he had preached another the message that included works for salvation that the persecution would stop.
But he said, because I preach that it’s by Christ alone, he said that that brings persecution and that’s of course the truth. Absolutely. And you know, I guess this is something you’re saying that I’m going to have to expect a lot more of the rest of my life. I’m just being persecuted like this. Is that what you’re saying more or less? That’s right. I’m going to have to expect this. That’s right. You’re going to have to. It’s pretty heavy.
I guess I can handle it. Well, that’s what we’re talking about today. The price for discipleship is that you have to be willing, no matter what, to continue on to serve the Lord and you will not always be loved for doing that. In fact, Christ said that we oftentimes would be hated. He says they will hate you even as they’ve hated me. And they took Christ without a cause and nailed him to the cross. He had really done nothing wrong and yet they hated him.
They took him to the cross and nailed him there and Christ said, can you expect less for those that will serve me? The answer is no. You’re going to also experience persecution. Thank God that we live in a country where we can speak it out and not go to jail for it usually. But in other countries they might put you in jail or cut your head off if you preach the gospel of Christ. You’re not allowed to do that in some Muslim countries.
You will not perhaps come out of their life if you do. Yeah, I guess something that it really kind of bothers me to think that even some people own family, and I’m sure they have good intentions all the time. I love them. I know they always do good things to me personally and we all get along for the most part. But I just think that when it comes to certain heated issues, they don’t even want to, at times, really, all they ever want to do is keep ignoring them and avoiding them and running away from it.
That doesn’t show to me, you know, like they really want to take a stand for things, you know, and I would think that, okay, who do we have anymore for leadership, you know, we’re always supposed to follow as a model? I agree with you, and most people are not going to do it. As I said a moment ago, 85% of Christians are shurkers. They shirk their responsibilities, but only 15% and maybe less than that actually become the workers that actually do the job and that’s what we need to have God bless you son what we’re praying for you and we certainly want you to uh…
be encouraged by us we uh… have to say word to my ami here my ami get excited we’re gonna get the full hour in just a couple of weeks and of course we need your help and if you’re going to uh… have the full hour down there i don’t have the money to pay for that i just said lord i believe this is an open door we’ve been praying for And you are audience of Miami. We need to have your prayers.
And we also have to have you help us financially to pay for that. Give you call and give a gift to Bibleline to encourage us that we’re making the right choice here. And we hope that you’ll enjoy the full hour. I think you will. And that’ll be coming up just a couple of weeks. So pray for us, Miami. All right. Miami signs off just a little bit before the rest of our stations. So I wanted to get that word in for them.
We’re excited about that. and full hour on a very powerful station in Miami, the BMCU-1080 on the dial. Tell your friends in the South Florida area. And I think we can be heard all the way down to Marathon Key and all the way up to West Palm Beach up and down the East Coast of Florida. So pass that word along for us. We have a number of all fear questions and we’ll try to catch some of those today as well.
And we’re gonna try to do a number of things. We have some wonderful books in our. We have another one that is called the Exodus case. Again, really high quality paper, It’s about like three of them all have bound in one with beautiful pictures that takes you through each book of the Bible with gorgeous pictures and maps. And I think if you lay it on your coffee table people pick it up and look through it and it’s a conversation opener.
We have another one that is called the Exodus case. Again really. high quality paper, heavy paper and beautiful pictures. And it actually has pictures of the chariot wheels and the chariots of Pharaoh at the bottom of the Red Sea. You won’t believe it, but it’s incredible. “, it’s a book that really makes a case for the exodus of the Book of Exodus where Moses led the children of Israel through the Red Sea and some thrilling pictures, which I had time to just describe the whole book to you, you, but that’s another coffee table book that will cause people sitting in your living room to pick that up and it’ll start a great discussion.
We also have that Jameson Fossep Brown commentary that I recommend. We had a fellow come up from Miami yesterday and get that from us and it’s powerful. I mean it has something on every verse of the Bible. Well, I could go on and on, but call and you can go to these over the telephone or you can call and get a resource sheet or actually order off our resource center online. We’re going to take a break. We’ll be right back.
I’m Dr. Englund, Sherman. We’ll come back for a second half hour in just one moment. Don’t go away. Bibleline will be back in a moment. Give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Well, I’m Dr. Englund, Sherman. It’s fun to be with you every day. This is Wednesday and we’re hoping you’re enjoying the program today and will tomorrow and Friday. But guess what? Like one lady called me this past couple of days ago and said that she couldn’t miss her Bible and program.
It was like a fix. She says, can I call it a fix? She just had to get into the Bible with Bible and every day. So you can keep that fix going by listening to Bible and at night or in the morning or on the weekends. We have the internet and there we have two years of program sitting there you can download them for your iPod. You can have the web podcasting where automatically we send to you free of charge.
All of that’s on the website plus our television programs plus our worship services and there’s so much there. We have one of our church members here that has on his bikeberry phone 287 hours of Bible line on his telephone. He cares about running with him. He can listen anytime he wants to and has got more than enough to keep him busy. You can imagine 287 hours of my broadcast on his telephone. I’ll tell you the technology today is amazing.
In any case, we hope that you’re taking advantage of our website, listening to our programs. As often as you like, passing that word along to your friends. Maybe you have missionaries, maybe you have family in other countries. Would you tell them? We have missionaries in Japan, Korea, and other areas of the world that are listening to Bible and would you pass that word along to your missionaries and also to family and friends that might be in the military or just working overseas.
Let them know about Bible and they can catch this program and a fresh word from home. Guess what? Other good news? We have been approved for the Turkish project where our television programs are going to be broadcast shortly in Turkey on satellite over the country of Turkey. I’m excited about that. So pray as Bible and Reach is into Turkey and they’re going to do this free of charge which is even better. And so I love those things which are coming our way that are free and I hope you’ll pray that we could see that happen real quickly.
By the way, most of our things cost us and we have to require our audience to help us because we have no other means of support. I hope you’ll stand behind Bible and with your prayers and with your gifts and you can call right now and give a gift to Bible and if you’d like. We could sure use your help at this time and I hope you will. God bless you and thank you for listening to Bible and we’re going to return to the stations that have been on break now and do a second half hour and all you have to do is just keep your radio tuned right where it is and don’t turn it off.
Here we go the second half hour right now. Would you like to call Bibleline and ask Dr. Lindstrom a question? You can. Just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3771. Now here again is Dr. Hank Lindstrom. Hey, we’re back from that break and this is Bibleline. I’m Dr. Lindstrom. We’re coming to you live from Tampa, Florida. From our studios right here at the Calvary Community Church where I’m the pastor, you’re invited to come by every day. Our resource center is open till about 4.30 in the afternoon.

You can go tonight or tomorrow or right now to the website Bibleline Ministries and click on the spin globe and you’ll get the radio program right now we’re streaming live and You can guess by the way If you go there at 11 o’clock Sunday morning and click on the camera on the home page you’ll get our live worship service That’s right.
We’re being meaning on all over the all over the world and you can catch that live service And you can also go back there in a week at your convenience and catch the worship services anytime you want There’s a year’s with the sermons sitting there. We’re going to have a summer youth camp and that’s going to be a lot of fun. We find that these are so powerful to get kids away from their environment, away from their friends and around the Bible environment and give them good teaching and answer their questions honestly.
We’re going to be doing that June 23-28 and we have now about 18 spots left. filling up quickly and if you have a teen and you want them to go, they’re going to have a great week and I’ll be there for part of that week and we’ll have a great time learning the word of God together. So think about that and give us a call here if you have a teen that you’d like to send to our youth camp, June 23 through June 28.
That’s going to be a marvelous week. By the way, I’m going to do a Sunday or eating Sunday. Here we have a fundraiser this Sunday dinner. a homemade Italian dinner by somebody who is Italian background and knows how to cook. This is going to be a delicious meal. And there’s no charge, but we’re asking everybody to give a donation to pay for kids to go to camp. They can’t afford to go. And if you’d like to come and eat this Sunday, we’d love to have you.
Come at 1030, join us for the worship service, stay for the dinner and just give a donation to help kids go to camp and you’re going to eat some very delicious food. Then on the third Sunday, which is Father’s Day, we’re going to have a special Father’s Day service, and we’re going to have a dinner again on our dads. That one is where everybody brings their best home-cooked dishes, and no charge for anything. Just come and eat. Just come and enjoy our 10-30 service.
Stay for the dinner. Just bring your Bible, your appetite, your family, and your deputies to bring your neighbors and your relatives and everybody else if you want. But that’ll be a great day. Just celebrate dads, and we invite all the dads to come. and great-grandads, and so on, and all the family that will come along to honor them on Father’s name. One of the Ten Commandments says, honor thy father and thy mother. And it says that it may be well with thee, and that your days on the earth will be long.
You know, there’s only one of the Ten Commandments that has a promise associated with it, and that is the commandment to honor your father and your mother. So, honor dads, this third Sunday of this month of June and we’re gonna do that here and you’re welcome to come and have a meal with us right after the morning worship service. We’re gonna go right into the phone lines. We have Brenda and Brenda is in Inglewood, Florida and Brenda welcome to Bibleline you are on the air.
Okay, how are you Dr. Nelson? Good Brenda. I have a question for you. It’s a couple of married and I am a very devout Christian and I am trying to work my way into a point where I can become a disciple of Christ and I’m currently now taking a Christian counseling course where when I graduate in December I will have international accreditation with the Christian Bible Association, ICCC, I can’t think of letters right now but anyway the more I do and I gave up TV I gave up newspapers and he thought there was a lot of…
I believe that he brings it against me the stronger I get if things like things happen to try to be a stumbling block to me. So how do you handle? I pray to God to give me the answer of what to do, not to take any short path like some people encourage me, force him, divorce him. I can’t do that. I have to wait on God’s answer. So how do you get the about the Bible to turn the other cheek.
First of all, is your husband saved? He told me he was, but I have a very… I know I can’t judge. I have a very hard time believing it. Well then there’s a good chance maybe he is. That’s really where I think you need to probably focus some of your effort. First Corinthians 2.14 tells us the natural man, that’s the man who’s not saved, person who’s not born again, the person who’s not a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, this is all the means of salvation.
It says, cannot receive the things of this period of God. They are foolishness to Him. Neither can He know them because they’re spiritually discerned. And obviously that’s going to be the way He will approach everything you’re doing. It’s foolishness. It’s a waste of time. And because it’s those things, I’m getting to involve in those things. Right, right. I think maybe one of the things you need to pray for is your husband’s salvation. Yes. We have the CD that we go out of here by the thousands and we get such good reports that the person would actually sit and listen to that CD and there’s a good chance to get saved.
I’d like to send you one and if you could talk him in the listening to that with you. I’d like to try, yes. That would be, I think, the first step and of course, you know, obviously on the other end, The award can give you the strength to be able to stand for him in the spite of the fact that you’re having conflict. But I think maybe that conflict could be avoided if we get him saved. Right. I believe you.
I’m just going to turn you over to my operators and they’ll get your address and we’ll send you that CD. And I’d like to hear the results. I hope it works out well for you. I’m praying that it will. Thank you so much. Okay. And thank you, Brenda. We’ll get our operators to pick up that call and talk to you. We’re now going to go to Olivia in Clearwater Florida and Olivia. Welcome to Bibleline you’re on the Earth. Hello.
Hi Olivia. Hi. Is this Dr. Lister? Yes ma’am it is. Oh Dr. Lister, I wanted you to explain to me about fellowship and through the Church. I’ve heard several, you know, tablets about it but I want to hear your version. Okay, a lot of what people call fellowship is not fellowship. They say, let’s go out for coffee. They call it fellowship. Or let’s get together and I call that fellowship. Fellowship really means to be fellows in the same ship.
And the idea is that you’re on the same page concerning the things about Jesus. And fellowship really has to do with getting together about Christ and being in the same boat with the same ideas and same goals as Christians. And as you share and talk about the Lord and about what He has done for you and how you are going to carry out what He wants you to do for you, that’s really true fellowship. I think probably 90% of what people call fellowship is not fellowship at all.
So let me just give you a couple of verses. 1 John is a wonderful book about fellowship. And it says in verse 3, 1 John chapter 1, for that which we have seen and heard, declare we unto you. And that is Jesus. That’s what he was declaring to them. He had seen him and heard him as an apostle. He was an eyewitness to Jesus. He says here I want to declare that to you that you also may have fellowship with us.
So here we learn that true fellowship is all about Jesus. And it says truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. So if you’re going to have fellowship it’s really all about Christ. When you get with somebody and you’re talking about Jesus and you’re talking about the scriptures and you’re talking about what he’s done for you and what you would like to see him do for others and so on and so on. That’s real fellowship.
But just to get together with somebody and break bread or drink coffee is not fellowship. It has to be centered around Jesus. It says here in this wonderful chapter that when we are talking about Christ and involved with others who are involved with Christ and talking about that whole thing of living for Christ and serving Christ and the struggles that we face and how we can better accomplish it and so on, that’s real Bible fellowship and that doesn’t happen too often.
Hope that helps a little bit. Olivia does that help a little bit? Well, hopefully, he is still there. But that’s what fellowship is all about. We’re gonna go now to John and John is in Chesterfield, Virginia and John welcome to my one you’re on the air Dr. Hank, I was an Israel referee for you while you were over there because I’d heard some Trouble was over there some bombings of a bus and I was so worried about you Well, I didn’t hear about it and I didn’t know about it and I Thank you very much because I know the Lord watches over us and We had just a wonderful time.
We didn’t even hear a car backfire. It was just a wonderful wonderful trip I enjoyed so many things that we did and We went to the top of the mountain Transfiguration where Christ was transfigured as he will be in the second coming in and And what a beautiful view way up there over the valley of Israel and over the Sea of Galilee Valley It was marvelous. We just had just an icon you want it on you get me started here about Israel Do you have your Bible in front of you this morning?
I do Look in first Peter chapter Okay, verse verse 17 for the time has come that judgment must begin at the house of God That means that your church, right? No, I think it believes it means the church the church church the believers that the judgment of Christ we’re gonna be judged first Unbelievers will be judged a thousand years later and so it’s talking about when Christ returns He’s gonna judge all of us as believers and we’re the first ones to be judged the lost will be judged a thousand years later will be judged as to what we have done since we have been saved and And rewards or loss of rewards will be metered out at that judgment.
But the loss will be judged according to their works to determine the degree of punishment and hell, and that will happen later. And it says here in this verse, if the righteous verse 18 scarcely be saved, in other words, there will be people at that judgment sheet of Christ for believers that will have done nothing worthy of reward. And so in a sense it speaks of them scarcely being saved. It says, where shall we ungodly and the lost the sinner appear?
They’re going to be in deep trouble. In other words, if God is a very harsh judge upon us as to what we have done since we’ve been saved, what is he going to do the unbelievers? And of course, we read in the scripture to know that they will be given a degree of punishment in hell. So it’s talking about us. And of course, I believe everybody in my church to best of my knowledge is saved. It’s hard to make sure about everybody, but we’re going to be a part of that, but it really is talking about the totality of the Church, the Body of Christ, from Pentecostal Rapture.
We’re going to be the first one judged and the first ones getting our resurrection bodies, and we find that later a thousand years later, Revelation 20 verse 5 says the rest of the dead live not again until a thousand years were finished. So that’s when they’ll be judged later. So if we just barely get in with very little to show for what we’ve done here on this earth after we got saved, then what in the world is going to happen to those lost people who have nothing no leg to stand on.
Amen. I try to reach them where they are, you know, as best as possible. And that’s one of the things we did here with his Easy-Pre-Children we have on our website. Now these are designed for children up to about age 12, but their names are in the hymns or the courses, and I find that they’re very much attracted to hear a CD with their names sprinkled 40-something times throughout the CD. And it doesn’t do everything, but it does, it’s a tool to get you into a conversation.
My little granddaughter, 30 months of all, age has just opened up to me so greatly because of this CD. It has improved my ability to talk to her. We had a great experience the other day. I took her out on a date. We went to Boston Market and we got dinner. And there was a couple that came up behind us and she said, Hi, I’m Isabelle. And anyway, we got seated and she was hungry as could be. And the other couple set across the aisle about five, six feet away.
And so she said, Papa, pray. Because she was hungry and wanted to eat right now, so she wanted me to pray. So I grabbed her little hand and we prayed. And then she looked up, caught the attention of that couple across the way. And she said, My Papa just prayed with me. Why don’t you pray? Okay. Good. Boy, did they get quiet for the next day. So to get your child’s name on that CD, you go to Bible Lab Ministries, right?
Yeah, you go right there and you can type in the name of your child, grandchild, nephew niece and order it and it will ship right out to you one, two, three and when you give it to that child, you can actually put on the front the child’s name and a little greeting. I love you very much or happy birthday or whatever the occasion is and then sign your name or just say like in my case when I gave Isabel hers I just said from pop-up but you can order that and I’ll tell you it’s just been so powerful for me and I know others that our church are getting them and others I hear from them are finding out they’re getting similar results.
Oh I’m gonna get one too. Oh praise Lord I’m gonna get one. Thank you so much. I’d like to have a good day. If you have any trouble or if you don’t have a computer, we have an 800 number you can call also and order directly. People will help you pick out the right city. OK. Thank you, John. That was John in Chesterfield, Virginia. We’re now going to go to Ken in St. Petersburg. Ken, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air.
Morning, Dr. Hank. I was just calling for a movie that lady didn’t know on the bus. I want to be a disciple and have no problem with your husband. But over the years I find that we can, the scripture points out that when he lifts us, I go out and be a disciple, I’d be a leader in some form or fashion that, you know, we’re not ready in Christ to be at take years as you know, to rightly divide things, get some bad advice about our husband’s scripture.
to me that I don’t hear a lot of marriage counselors on radio ever say, as you’re to win your spouse or you’re a when your unruly husband with your chase behavior. When that doesn’t sell books, you might be able to, in a point of correction. But the problem that we generally have in Genesis, God already said that a woman will The man who has been in the water will open a husband, and if they spend their time loving their husband into the kingdom of God and honoring him and lifting him up, he would probably soften his heart.
So when we look at an unruly husband, probably in the day that was written, would be a bad a woman compared to the United States of America what we consider it. I think you’re probably right. Well, that’s very good advice. I can’t, that’s what I was trying to tell her that her husband’s probably unsaved and he needs to be one to Christ. And I think that’s the first step. And if he is saved, obviously he needs to get closer to the Lord and be one over.
So obviously it’s very difficult if two people are not pulling in the same direction, it makes it very difficult. And that’s what she’s experiencing. He’s pulling in another direction and she. And you got some real good advice there. I can’t, I agree with you. You know, a lot of times the women are leading. She’s trying to lead him to the Bible. Lead, lead, lead, lead, rather than, you know, win him in her chase or, you know, that’s a major point that, you know, naturally the male may not feel honored, you know, because you’re spending more time doing these other things when a baby wants to jump out there.
I’ve got grandchildren and I’ve got a 12 year old. He’s ready to drive the car. No problem there except he looks one way when the car is coming from another direction. He’s not old enough and there’s a reason why he’s not old enough and he’s ready to jump right out there and do it all. Just stay to Florida doesn’t think he’s qualified. You know, everybody, we got baby Christians to have lesson Christians and they all have these little behavior problems.
Or as soon as we go to some of these churches, they start saying, well, you know, your husband’s the obstacle. The Bibleline radio with Dr. Hank Lindstrom. And we start looking at him as the problem. In reality, we’re trying to solve our own conflict problem by wanting to be a counselor so somehow we get free advice to unwind our own personal property. His responsibility is to love and honor your husband, whether he saved or unfaved. And forget the counseling course.
Jim, thank you so much. Okay, you have a good one. All right. Bye-bye. Ken is right. Certainly that is a priority issue there. Let’s go to Anthony in Sarasota. Anthony, welcome to Bibleline. You’re on the air. Yes, good morning. God bless you, Dr. Nett Trump. My question is regarding the resurrection within the gospel of John, Luke, Mark, and Matthew. I just want to give you a little bit on how the testimonies were just a little bit different within the four.
Now in the book of John it talks about that many have two angels. And another is it says only one. But they’re not contradictory. They’re simply supplementary. So when you add, when you, when you read all four accounts and you look at the total picture, you get the full picture of what was taking place there. You know, I might have lunch with five or six people. And when I converse with you, I might say that I had lunch with John, let’s say.
And so you might assume that there was nobody else but you or John and myself in our lunch conversation, whereas there were five other people present at the lunch. And I may not mention them. Yet to someone else, I might share that, hey, I had this lunch with these six fellows. And we had a wonderful time of fellowship and might mention that John was also present. So when you get the total picture, you have six people plus myself at lunch.
And yes, John was present, but in the conversation, I would have you with you about that lunch. I may have only mentioned John and you may not have learned about the others that were there. So I think that’s where the gospels are. So to be to the disciples, I mean, and then they shared it among one another. I mean, because I in the book of Matthew, it includes the guards report. Where in the other gospel they’re done. Well, I think that you have each gospel, there are four gospels, each one has a different purpose, each one presents a different point of Christ, and Matthew is presented as a king.
And obviously here, his crime, according to the Bible, was at least Rome was concerned about he had claimed to be a king, and therefore that was treason. And so he was executed for treason, really, for claiming to be a king when Caesar alone was king and to be worship. And so that was not a part of Mark’s Gospel because Mark is presenting Christ as a servant and it doesn’t matter about those things. And in Luke he’s just a man and that doesn’t matter.
And in John’s Gospel he’s God so it doesn’t matter either. So each Gospel has a unique point of Christ and when you begin to see that John comprehensive as God, Mark, presenting as a servant, Luke, presenting as a man, and Matthew, presenting as a king. You begin to look and you’ll see some things are in and some things are out that are either significant or not significant to that particular portrait of Christ. So I believe that’s the answer. Well, thank you very much, Dr.
Leshri. We have a blessed day. You’re welcome, Anthony. Thank you very much. And there’s no contradictions, the Bible supplements, And you read them all to get the total picture. We have Randy in Dunedin, Florida. Hey, Randy, welcome to Bible In Your Own The Air. Hi, Dr. Hank. I found out that we’re all in a camp together. I was talking to my pastor’s message and he had closed with offering salvation to those who would turn from sin and trust in Christ.
And I said, Pastor, if I could turn from sin, I wouldn’t need to trust in Christ. And I said, you know, if I could turn from sin, then Jesus wouldn’t have had to endure the cross. And so he proceeded to tell me, you know, that we’re all. that we’re all part of the camp of easy beliefism, and I said, no, that’s just the gospel. We just went on and told me how turning from sin is part of it and I responded that of course we have to know our position that God is holy and we are not where sinners.
He said, well, I guess we’ll just have to agree to disagree. And maybe a year and a half. And when he first came, I went to lunch with him and I tried to explain the same thing to him. But it’s just so disheartening to have this But we just boiled down to it. He said, well, I guess we’ll just have to agree to disagree. And, you know, I’m…
I was in the hospital for maybe a year and a half. When he first came, I went to lunch with him and tried to explain the same thing to him. But it’s just so disheartening to have this… just… just disagreeing it. Well, you know, it’s so basic. It doesn’t say, for God’s to love those who turn from their sin, it says, for God’s to love the world. Then that’s every one of us. In Romans 5, it says that Christ loved us and died for us while we were yet sinning in the state of sinning.
And He died for sinners, and I love that old hymn. Christ received sinful men. And that’s all of us. And there’s no one who can stop sinning. If you claim that you have, then 1 John 1 verse 8 says, if we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. So we have a sin nature that’s going to take us right to the grave. But we’ll be delivered one day from this wretched body that we live in.
Randy, I’ll be praying for you. That’s tough. And I hear it every day from people that it seems like the gospel message is convoluted by people and muddied up and it’s not right. I’ve got a run. We will be back again tomorrow. I hope you’ll join me and check out our website, BibleLineMinistries.org. If you can help Bibleline financially, we could use it right now. We really could call us and give a gift by credit card, would you? Pray for us and have a great day.
And I’m Dr. Anglins from Say Good-bye, but we’ll be back tomorrow. Keep looking up. He’s coming. You’ve been listening to Bibleline, a presentation of Bibleline ministries of Tampa, Florida. Well, I’m Dr. Hank Lindstrom and it’s been a great day here at Bibleline.
We’ve enjoyed being with you today. Wednesday and we’ll be back again. Wardwelling tomorrow. By the way, again, the website, I keep talking about it, but you can go there at any time. Many people tell me they come home in the evening after work. They get their shower and they have their dinner. They relax, they get in front of their computer and they turn on Bible and listen to the program and the nice thing is that they can pause me, back me up, fast forward, and you’ve got all those additional features that really make it nice so you can just enjoy the project.
program with your Bible open and a pen and just take the time that you need to be able to go over the program and pick out the parts you want to re-listen to. Check out our worship services. They’re also there and you can do the same thing and you can catch them any time day or night 24-7. And there’s a year’s where the sermon’s waiting there. We have some wonderful books here and I mentioned a couple of days. The Exodus case has color photographs of the cherry wheels on the bottom of the red sea.
And I talked to the fellow leading that expedition a year ago. We had a great time, soon about an hour together. And it’s exciting really what they’re discovering and we’re living in a time when the Bible is being supported by archaeological finds. And this is a great book. I also have this handbook of the Bible by Zondervin. And it’s just beautiful pictures. Wow, it takes you from Genesis to Revelation and gives you background and pictures of the places and maps.
It’s just a wonderful what I call a coffee table Bible. I mean, or book, put it on your coffee table. People come over and they have to have something to browse and they’ll pick that up. They’ll pick that up and since they pick it up and they’re browsing and they’re enjoying it. It’s a conversation over here. You can talk to them about the Lord. And so we have several of these really good ones. Really beautiful. They’re also a nice gift.
Anyway, I’ve got to run. Give us a call. We’d love to hear from you. And come by if you can. And if you can, again, the Internet, you can visit our Resource Center and you can actually visit our worship services on the Internet site, BibleInindustries.org. You’ve got to run. I’m Dr. Inglens and thank you for today, but we’ll be back again tomorrow, Lord willing, and keep looking up in the meantime.
