into the broadcast. We look forward to being with you each and every day, Monday through Friday. And thank you for tuning in today to the Bibleline program. We’re coming to you live from Tampa, Florida from our studios right here at the Calvary Community Church in Tampa, Florida where I’m the pastor and we always invite people to come by and visit our headquarters, our resource center. You can listen to our radio programs. You can watch our television programs and you can actually watch our worship services. Great to be with you, it’s Thursday and we thank you for tuning in today. We’re going to be talking about the Bible in a few moments and then we’ll of course be taking our callers.
You’re welcome to call in at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Give us a call and we’ll be glad to try to get your question up on the air and get it answered. You can leave it off air or you can be live with us on the radio. We have a summer camp for teens coming up in less than 10 days now and about a week and a half on Monday a week from Monday will go and if you have a teen it’s not too late.
We have a few openings and you can send them. They’ll have a great time. It’ll be right in the heart of the state of Florida down in Avon Park and you’re welcome to call us and get the information and send your team. I believe that if they’re not saved, they’ll get saved. If they’re saved, maybe they might dedicate their life to Christ. Many do at these camps, and there’s a real change in their life. Getting them away from their friends, their environment, their radio, their music, and getting them under the sound of God’s word is a very powerful influence.
So call us if you have any questions, and would like to maybe send 18 to summer camp. By the way, also, this Sunday is the third Sunday of the month, and we’re going to have our dinner. Great day to come by and visit us. I hope you will. And just be my guest. Come at 10.30. Join us for the worship service. And then stay for a nice lunch dinner. And you’re welcome to be a part of that. So that’s this Sunday, the third Sunday here in the month of June.
And give us a call, and we’ll be You have to give you directions or whatever help you need. By the way, we also have on our website now Bible and Music for Children, which is really exciting. We have six albums, six CDs that you can sample. You can actually put in the name, just type it in on your computer of your child, grandchild, nephew, niece, and sample these CDs with their name in the songs. If you purchase it, they’ll hear their name about 45 times on whichever CD you buy.
Very powerful because it begins, one of them at least the one I got for my granddaughter says, you’re special. And boy does she light up with that and has learned the songs and she’s only 30 months old and I’ll tell you, it is a greatly impacted her life. If you have your Bible, get it out. We are going to turn to the book of Hosea in the Old Testament today. If you have your Bible there, you can turn as well.
In Hosea chapter 5, we have an amazing reference here, I believe, to Christ first coming. When Christ came, He was rejected. These words are, I believe, the words of Christ given to us about 28 hundred years ago, about 800 years before he came. The first time and here as Christ is rejected he says I will go and return to my place. These are almost the same words you read in John 14 in Matthew 23 and other passages as Christ is rejected he says he’s going to go back to heaven.
And then he tells him in Matthew 23 when he would return he says I will go and return to my place till they the Jewish people. acknowledge their offense and seek my face in their affliction will they seek me early. Here’s a prophecy about how under the terrible affliction of the holocaust Jewish people began to become uprooted and began to go back to their land from all over the world. Wow what an incredible fulfillment of prophecy Because here you have millions of Jews, over thousands of years, affected by this prophecy.
And all of a sudden, just before Jesus will return, it says that they would be afflicted, and they would return and seek Him. But here Jesus is saying, I will go and return to my place. It almost sounds like John 14, where Christ says, I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go to prepare a place for you all, come again and receive you unto myself where I am, there you may be also. Well, in chapter 6, and by the way, the chapter divisions are not inspired.
In fact, they didn’t really come along until about 1300 years after Christ. So for many years, obviously centuries, there were no chapter divisions. And sometimes we kind of follow them and a lot of times they are not placed in the right spot. And I believe verse 15 continues right into chapter 6 verse 1 without a break. And so here we find that under the affliction the Jewish people would experience, especially with the Holocaust. It says here this is the cry of the Jewish people, the Jewish nation come and let us return unto the Lord.
Here talks about them returning to the Lord. back to the Promised Land. Come and let us return unto the Lord, for He hath torn, and He will heal us. He hath smitten, and He will bind us up. And certainly that has been through the Jewish people who have been an appreciated people, scattered for two thousand years. And here they are talking about returning to the land, which I think is talking about our time in history when we’ve watched the Jewish people going back, and they’re still presently going back from all over the world.
Here is the verse that is so exciting. Hosea 6 verse 2 says, After two days will He revive us. The Jewish people would be revived after two days, and in the third day He will raise us up and we shall live in His sight. Wow! Well guess what? We know that the third day is a thousand years. That is the day of the Lord, the Jewish people will be raised up and actually live in the sight of Christ as He comes back as King and rules on this earth.
Jesus Christ will actually raise up the Jewish people and they will live in the Millennial Kingdom in a thousand years and they will live in the sight of Jesus. Well if the third day is a thousand years in length and Revelation chapter 26 times it tells us it is a thousand years. Then we know the first two days are also a thousand years each. So what it’s literally saying here is after two thousand years, I will raise up the Jewish people and they shall live in my sight for a third thousand years.
Isn’t that incredible? So here we have in verse 15 of chapter 5 of Oseah, I will go and return to my place and the Jewish people are not going to see me till they acknowledge their offense, recognizing who Christ is and was as their offense was the crucifixion and to realize that he died for them and to acknowledge him and seek him, they would not see him. But in the last days we know right after the rapture the blinders will come off and many millions of Jewish people are going to come to know Christ as Savior.
The Jewish people are already returning to the land. Come and let us return unto the Lord for a thorn and he will heal as he has been and and he’ll bind this up and after 2000 years he will revive the Jewish nation and they will live a third thousand years in his sight. That kind of tells us where we are. The 2000 years my friend are about up since Jesus was here and went back to heaven. He says I’m going to go and leave and that was 2000 years ago.
Here we are right at the precipice right at the time when I believe Christ is going to return. Am I a date set or no? But I believe we’ve got to be very close. After two thousand years will he revive us? Here we are right at the conclusion of that 2000 years. In the third thousand years he will raise us up and we shall live in his sight. Let me go to Matthew 23 now because Jesus overlooks the city of Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives and my whole group was there just a couple of months ago.
and we stopped and paused at this very place where Christ wept over Jerusalem. And he says in Matthew 23, 37, O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stunest them which are sent unto thee. How often I would have gathered that children together, even as a hen gathers her chickens under her wings, and you would not.” So here, notice they reject him, and he would have gathered them. He would have received them, but they rejected him, and he says, Behold your house.
That’s the temple in Jerusalem, is left unto you desolate. And then almost the same words as we read back in Hosea. For I say unto you, you shall not see me, henceforth, exactly what we saw back in Hosea chapter 5, till you shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord, when they would recognize that that offense that took place two thousand years ago, the cross of Calvary, the rejection of Christ, was the true Messiah being slain and recognize who he is and say, Blessed is he that comes in the name of Yeshua, it’s then that Christ comes back.
Wow! I think we are living close, no doubt about it. I hope if you are listening that you are a believer, today we have so much counterfeit out there that it’s difficult for somebody to become saved it seems. I just got an email from a fellow that said, for three years, he invited Jesus into his heart because so many popular broadcasters were saying, invite Jesus into your heart. And so he did it. He believed that that was what he had to do.
And he said he wasn’t saved. And then he found Bible and he realized that he had to trust Christ. Trust Christ. U.S.T. Trust Christ that he died and shed his blood and was buried in Rosigim to be saved. By the way, inviting Christ into your heart is not the invitation in the Bible. There’s nowhere in the scripture does it say to invite Christ into your heart or into your life. Nowhere! You’re not saved by asking. Jesus Christ does not come into your life by asking him to come in, or inviting him to come in, he only comes in when you trust in his finished work of the cross.
You can’t bypass Calvary. You cannot bypass the death of the barrel of the resurrection, which is what the gospel message is. And Romans 1 16 says, I’m not ashamed of the gospel of Christ. For it, the gospel, is the power of God unto salvation, to everyone that what? Believe it. That means to trust. Those that trust that Christ died for them and shed his blood to pay for their sins in full. And that Christ was buried in rose again from the dead.
Those that trust Him are the ones that become saved. My friend right now, if you have not trusted Christ as your Savior, then you need to do so. I was caught in that and for the first eighteen years of my life, I was raised in an environment where you were told to invite Christ into your heart. And I did it every week, sincerely. And I was lost. And it wasn’t until I was 18 that I ever heard that I had to simply trust Jesus as my Savior in order to be saved.
You cannot be saved any other way than to simply trust Jesus Christ as your Savior. Are you saved? You know, many are going to one day find out that they weren’t because they didn’t trust Christ. Inviting Christ into your life, I talked to a gentleman the other day and he said, yeah, I gave my life to Christ a couple of years ago. I said, well, guess what? You’re not saved by giving your life to Christ or giving anything to Christ.
You’re saved by what Christ did for you and until you trust that he gave his life for you and shed his blood for you and was buried in rose again from the dead, you’re not going to be saved. And we talked for another moment or two and then he says, yeah, I gave my life to Christ. I said, giving Christ anything will not save you. It’s not what you do for Christ that saves. It’s what he did for you.
You’ve got to trust him. It’s amazing to try to deal with this because he was so ingrained with this false teaching that you give someone to Christ. You don’t give anything to Christ. The Bible says that God is the giver and we’re the receivers. Everywhere you look, it’s for God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son. The Bible says the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Ephesians 2.8 says salvation is the gift of God and it’s not of works.
Let us, any man, should boast. We don’t give God anything to be saved. We receive what He is giving to us and He gives us eternal life. First John 511 says this is the record that God has given to us eternal life that God has given to us He gives to us eternal life when we trust him as our Savior and if you do that my friend You’re gonna be saved. I’m dr. Anglinstrum. This is Bible and great to be with you We’re gonna go to Steve in Tampa, Florida and Steve.
Welcome to Bibleline you are on the air Good morning, dr. Hank. It’s great to speak to you this morning I would like to share something that I encountered yesterday and then ask you to comment on the tremendous danger that lurks out there in the way of fault. Through my website, I get a lot of visitors, my website that you’re familiar with. I get a lot of visitors and oftentimes they ask for my help. I’m helping a woman right now whose spouse is Catholic and she’s considering becoming a Catholic and she’s written to me and asked me to provide her some of my insights.
And I’m trying to take it slow with her and help her through this process to make sure that she doesn’t make the wrong decision. And I’m starting with the concept of baptism. And in going through the catechism of the Catholic Church, they talk about how water baptism provides forgiveness for sin and salvation. And specifically in that I want to read to you and ask for your comment. Paragraph 1260, this Premiership says, every man who is ignorant of the gospel of Christction and of his church but seeks the truth and anti what the Bible teaches us.
So anti, you know, the very foundation of what God wants for us, the very foundation of Christ’s Church, is that the only way to salvation is through Him and Him. him alone yet you have a church ignorant of christ you can be saying to comment on on just a tremendous date well thank you cvino uh… it’s interesting because nobody’s paying attention to the bible peter and of course the catholic church has claimed him as their first pope which is not true but if they only listen to peter did come out okay acts for twelve peters as neither is their salvation in any other, for there is none other name under heaven, given among men whereby we must be saved.
Peter is very plain that you need to trust Christ. He is the only way and unless you do you will not make heaven. Neither is there salvation in any other, for there is none other name under heaven, given among men whereby we must be saved. So it’s amazing that a church, especially that purports to be a Christian church, would so far depart from the basic essential teachings of the Bible. Jesus himself says in John 14.6, I am the way, the truth and the life.
And no man, no man, no man, comeeth unto the Father but by me, John 14. So it’s quite plain and there are many other verses that would say the same thing. There’s no other way to be saved except to trust Jesus and Jesus alone. I was on a talk show many years ago and I had on that talk show a Roman Catholic priest, a Jewish rabbi and I think some other religion. They all ganged up on me and they thought I was absolutely wrong because I taught that the only way to heaven was through Jesus Christ.
The rabbi said, no, that you could get to heaven if you were sincere. And the priest said you could get to heaven if you were just sincere, the same thing you just pointed out. And this other fellow said, oh yeah, you don’t have to be that strict. Come on, come on, come on. What are you saying here? And I said, well, I’m sorry, but the Bible teaches and I didn’t write the Bible, but it says there’s only one way in us, Jesus, and everybody on that panel that I was on was fighting me.
He was saying, you can’t be right. And I said, well, I’m not right, but the Bible’s right. And what I’m quoting you is what the Scriptures teach. That there’s only one way to heaven that’s Jesus. And it’s amazing how they will defend these false teachings when the Bible is very clear. Well thank you, Dr. Thank you. Steve and his website is Catholic to Christian, Catholic to number 2. We now have Tony in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Tony, welcome to Bibleline.
Yes, me again. I was, I had called you a couple days ago and you was, yes, I passed. He’s no longer passion. I don’t think about. He’s about nine years of age. It would difficult for him to do that. I think he’s still living in his about 90. Yeah, well, that’s it. I was listening to him. I have a friend of mine, Jamie. He was in the fees and he was preaching about Jesus Christ and he died free on the cross.
He was talking about what he was talking about. I really couldn’t understand. And then when I had talked to you a couple of days ago and I asked you, do you know anything about Barack and Church in U.S. that somewhat kind of got me? Which you said, I would say that he was a pretty good teacher, but you said you would watch a lot of stuff these times. Well, you have to be careful. And by the way, he was pretty free with his language, I understand.
He would use profanity in his sermons in his church and so many things. But the point is that everybody I’ve really come in contact with over the many years now of these followers, they usually leave the church and they have little gatherings outside of the church that just listen to tapes. And so they are totally apparently kind of separate themselves from the body of Christ. And the Bible says we should not forsake the assembling of ourselves together, but they normally do.
And then you almost have to have this glossary, this dictionary that he will provide for you that allows you to understand his teaching because it will define all the terms. So he has almost a special language to teach the Bible and you have to become familiar with what he means by different terms. And I used to know a lot of them, but you have to get that down or you don’t really follow his teaching. And then he has some strange teachings about the blood of Christ, which I think are blasphemous and are wrong and so on and so on.
And I haven’t studied it for quite a while, but I know you could find it on the Internet by just putting in the name and putting in a false doctrine or heresy. And you’ll find lots and lots of things that will expose some of the teachings that I think are to be warned of. So thank you, Tony. I hope that helps a little bit. And we’re going to now go to Ryan in St. Petersburg. Ryan, welcome to Bibleline. Hi, I’m Hank.
How are you doing? Good. My question is, well, my dad’s up in Michigan today and I’m going to have him listen to it in the afternoon. Richard Davenport, he’s also on our…I just wonder why in the old text in it they use the word, they use the word believe a lot. My question is a comment about Psalm 2 verse 12, how it talks about putting your trust in the sun, and also proverbs. I think it’s 30 verses 4 and 5 where it talks about who knows the name of the Father and who knows the name of the sun and talking about a sign in and a descending.
If you could just comment about that and I just wanted to. on the Richard downpour and through downpour of the Michigan. All right, thanks. All right, thank you, right. You know, the Bible has so many wonderful passages. And in the Old Testament, some people are shocked to find passages about Jesus. And obviously, there are many. And Psalms 2 is one about Jesus. It’s a Messianic Psalm, which means it’s about the Lissiah. And verse 12 talks about blessed is the one who puts his trust in the sun.
Also, Proverbs 30 that you mentioned there talks about the Son of God. What is God’s Son’s name and how that if you put your trust in Him that He would be a Savior to you, a shield, a protector, and you would be saved and saved forever. It’s wonderful. And there’s so many great verses that. You wonder how is it that some people say that they don’t see Jesus in the Old Testament. He’s there. Obviously it talks about God declaring He has the Son in Psalms 2.
And blessed is the one who puts His trust in the Son of God because that’s the one that’s saved. We’re coming up on our break. We’re going to have to take a break and come back and do a second half hour. Bibleline is listed or supported. We could use your help at this time. Would you consider calling today and give a gift to Bibleline and keep us on the air. And by the way, You can call and ask for an envelope to be sent and you can mail your gift in or you can give it on the online bookstore on our online website BibleLineMinistries.org.
We’re going to take that break and we’ll come back into a second and a half hour so stay tuned to Bibleline. We’ll be back in just a moment. So don’t go away. Keep your radio tuned right where it is. I’m Dr. Englister and we’ll be right back. Go away Bibleline will be back in a moment. Give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Alright, Dr. Englister, it’s great to be with you. Thanks for tuning in to the broadcast today.
We look forward to being with you each and every day, Monday through Friday, and I hope that you’re catching us every day of the weekend. If you can’t get the program live on a particular day, you can go back and review it in the evening on the Internet. the internet. You ought to take a look at that. Please, and pass that word along to your friends as well. You might have a lot of other friends who have internet, have them look at Bible line ministries.org.
And that could be a ministry for you to share with them the value of this website because we have everything there that can really help a person spiritually. The radio programs, the TV programs, the worship services, the online bookstore, and the questions that I’ve answered, the articles that I’ve written so much. Tell your friends. Would you do that email? A bunch of your friends that let them know that here’s a link, here’s a website you ought to turn to BibleLineMinistries.org.
And when you do that, I think you’ll be really turning somebody on to a site where they might get saved or they might grow. We’ve had a lot of people tell us they’ve gotten saved by just going to the website. It begins with a seven minute video at the beginning that presents the Gospel. It also has a quiz there that you can take and we’ve had thousands and thousands of people fail that quiz and come back and pass it and learn how to be saved, which is really exciting.
We want you to know about our Bible and music for children. That is really a powerful tool. If you have a child or grandchild or nephew or niece, this is a powerful way to reach them. You want to reach those boys and girls for Christ? I believe that this is a real tool to do that, and you’ll be able to sample the music. You can actually put in your child or grandchild’s name and hear it yourself, and then make a decision whether you would want to order it or not, I think you’re going to find it’s going to be great and you’ll want to do that.
So just go to our website, BibleLineMinistries.org and check out the Music Good or Online Bookstore. And on the right side of every page there’s a vertical banner that would have the Bible and music for children. And you can sample that. Don’t forget that if you want to catch our worship service wherever you are, you can click on that camera on the home page and we have a year’s worth of sermons sitting there waiting for you to take a look at.
We’re going to rejoin stations now that have been on break and do the second half hour of Bibleline. So I hope you will join me as we join these stations and do the second half hour. Would you like to call Bibleline and ask Dr. Lynch from a question? I can just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Now here again is Dr. Hank Lindstrom. All right, we’re back from that break, and this is Bible and great to be with you again.

Every third Sunday of every month we do this dinner and that’s a great time to plan to come if you’re driving from a distance to join us.
We’re now gonna go to the phone lines. we have Linda and Eden Florida and Linda welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Hi Pastor Hank, good morning how are you? Good. But can you comment please on Ephesians 1, 19 through 23 and then also when it refers over to Colossians 1, 16 through 18 and specific the key verse in verse 20. I’ll give it a try here. Let’s see here fesions 119 which says What is the exceeding greatness of his power to usward who believe according to the working of his mighty power?
Which he wrought in Christ whom he raised from the dead and set him at his own right hand in heavenly places? This is obviously the power of God and obviously we’re going to experience the power of God and taking this body that we have now and at the Rapture transforming it into a brand new body that will last forever. I mean this is incredible stuff. We’re going to get to experience space travel. Can you imagine just leaving without a rocket or spaceship and meeting the Lord in the air and the atmosphere above the earth, going to heaven itself and then coming back with Christ and his second coming, re-intering the Earth’s atmosphere and coming back and following Christ as he defeats the armies of this world and sets up his kingdom.
There’s some incredible things that are going to happen and we don’t know the small portion of what will take place and what it will be like to experience all that. It really is a marvel and is talking about the power of God. The same power in Jeremiah 10 is the power by which he created the universe. That God created the universe out of his power, out of his energy. And God has the power to do so many things and we are going to experience them in the future.
I believe that is what he is talking about. And that the prayer here is to open your eyes and mind to the fact that we have the most powerful being in all the universe on our side. And he becomes our Heavenly Father when we trust Christ as Savior and we become his sons and daughters. And one day, according to the book of Revelation, we’ll actually get a chance to climb up and sit in his lap on his throne, which will be thrilling experiences, as you can imagine, to see the one who rules the universe and sit there where he rules the universe from.
I’m excited. I’m looking forward to that great day and one of the day that will be. Thank you Linda. We’re now going to go to Holly in Venice, Florida and Holly, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Hi. I believe, you know, and agree with what you say about trusting in Jesus, you know, it’s a matter of trust and believing in what he did for us. But at the same time, I wonder if a lot of people are doing head trusting more than heart trusting.
You know, when John came down and he was talking about repentance and I see so many people that are saved, that are living lifestyles, like I guess you call alternative lifestyles and things like that, but they truly believe they’re saved. How does their pendant fit into this? Well that’s a good question. First of all, repentance means a change of mind and it does not mean turning from sin. But if you are a true believer, you cannot live in sin without God thanking you.
I’ve seen those that have the alternative lifestyles that have died within a year that true believers, God will take you home and God will thank you. But those who are able to live as they please and nothing happens, I think that tells us they’re not safe. Hebrews chapter 12 is clear. It says in verse 6, for whom the Lord loves, he chastens and disciplines and scourges every son. He doesn’t discipline the unbeliever, but he does discipline the believer. Verse 8 of Hebrews 12 says, If you be without discipline from God, where of all, A-L-L are partakers, then you’re a bastard, it says.
Not a son. So you’re illegitimately claiming to be a Christian. I think 90% of what is called Christianity is a counterfeit. Most of those people who claim they are Christians are not Christians. When they sin, they are not Christians. God doesn’t do anything because they’re not his son. Whenever I got in trouble as a little boy, I Usually never got in trouble alone And when my dad would punish me, I would say dad, you know three or four my friends were involved in this too Let me bring them over and you can You can discipline them too and he said no he says son There I showed their parents will have to discipline them I’m gonna discipline you because you’re my son and so God deals just with his children and I don’t believe you can get away with anything if you’re a believer.
God is going to discipline you. And if you are not disciplined, according to Hebrews, to a date, you’re not a child of God. And you’re exposed to be a bastard, which means you’re an illegitimate son. You’re claiming to be a child of God when you’re not. So I don’t believe that’s true. And obviously I’ve seen it happen so many times that I’ve buried a bunch of people that have so told me, Hank, the Lord has taken me home. I had several because of sexual sins.
They got AIDS, which is one encounter. Within a year, they were dead. They told me on the way out that, hey, God is taking me home because of what I did. The Lord doesn’t allow you to live as you please. I think that a lot of people you’re looking at, you better check out their salvation again. I would go back and really inquire diligently as to what they are trusting in to get them to heaven. If you’re not, you know, a lot of people like you say haven’t really understood what it is to trust Christ.
You have to trust Him and Him alone. Christ plus anything equals those salvation. So if it’s a mixture of works and Christ, that won’t save. Christ plus baptism equals no salvation. Christ plus church membership equals no salvation. Christ plus confession equals no salvation. Christ was walking the aisle, doesn’t bring any salvation. Christ plus you’re changing your lifestyle. That doesn’t bring about salvation. It’s Christ alone. And the only way anybody can be saved is the way that dying thief was saved as he simply looked over to Christ and he simply trusted in what Christ had done for him.
He couldn’t join the church. He couldn’t make restitution for his evil deeds. He couldn’t get water bad plans. He couldn’t join the church. He couldn’t walk the alley. He couldn’t live the Christian life. The dying thief was dying and he was totally helpless in its God’s wonderful illustration about how we become saved. Many people I am talking to are trusting in what they have done. If you read Matthew 7 in verse 22 it says, Many Jesus says will say to me in that day that is at the great white throne judgment, Lord, Lord, look at what we have done, why we preached in your name and we healed in your name and we did many wonderful works in your name?
That’s all the wrong answer because Christ says to them in Matthew 7 23 and I’ll profess unto them, I never knew you. I never knew you. Not I once knew you and I lost you. That’s impossible. But I never knew you. So these are people that were claiming to be Christian. They were actively doing works that would perhaps indicate that they were Christian. But yet they were trusting in those works, not in Christ, and therefore they were lost. If they had only said, Lord, didn’t we trust that you died on the cross of Calvary?
And you shed your blood and paid our sin debt and full was buried and rose again from the dead and we trusted in you as our only means of heaven Christ. When I said, come on in. But here they’re bragging and boasting about what they’re doing and obviously they’re not going to make it in. I think we’re going to be surprised one day that a lot of those folks that have claimed to be Christians really are not and I think that’s what you’re pointing out and they have never really trusted Christ.
By the way, as far as the head belief versus the heart belief, we believe really with our head or with our mind, not with our heart. And it really means that you completely trust Christ as your Savior and it’s not a mental a sent to historical facts. Prior to my salvation, I assented to all the facts of the Bible. I didn’t doubt that Christ died or that He died to pay for sins or that He was buried or that He rose again from the dead.
He was the Savior, but I had never trusted that he did it for me. I like to say it this way, and this is the difference. Christ died. That’s history. You can acknowledge all of the history about Christ and still be lost. But Christ died for me. That’s salvation. When you personally trust that he died and paid for your sins, that’s when you become saved. So many people have just said, yeah, I believe, and that’s the problem with the English word believe.
It can mean just ascending to facts and embracing them like you believe in George Washington and you believe in Abraham Lincoln. But you’re not trusting George Washington or Abraham Lincoln to save you. When you acknowledge the facts about Christ and then trust that he died for you, that’s the difference. And that’s the key word. The Greek word translated believe is postuo, P-I-S-T-E-U-O. And it means to trust, it means to rely upon, to rest your way to upon, to place your confidence in.
And that’s really the difference. You can ask any Jehovah’s Witness, do you believe in Jesus Christ? And they’ll say yes. But they’re not saved. But if you ask them, do you trust Jesus Christ as your only means of getting to heaven, they’ll say no. You could ask any Roman Catholic, do you believe in Jesus Christ? They’ll all say yes. But if you ask a Roman Catholic, are you trusting Christ alone to save you, they’ll say no, because they’re trusting in the church and the sacraments to save them.
And so the key word is trust. So a lot of people will say, believe, but they haven’t understood that they have to trust Christ and Christ alone to be saved. So there are millions that claim they believe in Christ but have never trusted Him. And that’s why as a witness we really have to hone our skills up so we can find out what’s going on here. So the difference really is between acknowledging facts and trusting that Christ is really the to save you who died and paid for us.
It’s all been absolutely. Yeah, can I make one other comment? Sure, sure, of course. Go, if I’ll hang out. But the other thing that I’ve noticed is, yeah, you do have to trust in Christ as your Savior. But if you read, you’ll also find that you do need work. Once you’re saved, OK? Say that you are living an alternative lifestyle. Even the ones that aren’t, there’s so many people that say they’re saved, but they don’t show it. I think that once you’re saved, you should be showing it by your work and i’m going to go and i’ll let you go on from the heart well uh…
james is talking about believers ought to uh… to have rewards uh… show their faith to others so they can actually uh… lead people to christ me effective as a christian but we don’t have to have any works to be saved or to prove to god that we’re saying obviously in first grandience three fifteen It talks about the judgment for believers one day called the Judgment Seat of Christ. And there all of our works will be examined and it tells us there that even if you had no works, you would still be saved.
If you had no works at all, let me quote to you 1 Corinthians 3, 15, where it says, If any man’s works shall be burned, he shall suffer loss. That’s loss of reward at that judgment seat of Christ for believers. If any man’s works shall be burned, he shall suffer loss, loss of reward, but he himself shall be saved, yet so has by fire. So even if all of your works were burned up one day and you did nothing in your life in the way of works after you became saved, you would still be saved.
You can’t be lost once you become saved, you’re saved forever. But obviously if you’re going to be an effective Christian and if you’re going to have rewards in heaven if you’re going to lead other people to Christ you’re going to have to have works. And James is talking about faith without works being dead referring to believers who ought to be doing works or they’ll have no reward. It says in verse 14, what profit will you have if you say you have faith that you don’t have any works?
Well, the answer is you’ll have no profit in heaven. You’ll have no rewards in heaven. You’ll enter at the bottom level. But if you are living for Christ, then you are going to have rewards. And Peter talks about in chapter 1 of 1 Peter having an abundant entrance in heaven. In other words, being abundantly rewarded by God and receiving the results of your Christian life, living for Christ with an abundant entrance. the sun we’re going to get in. With no rewards and suffer that loss forever and that would be a tragedy and that’s what it’s talking about but if you’re saved you’re saved when you do works or not but if you’re going to be effective as a Christian and have rewards and heaven you’re going to have to serve him.
Thank you Holly down in Venice Florida. We’re now going to go to Anonymous in Jacksonville Florida and welcome to Bibleline. Good morning Dr. Master. I have a couple questions. I just want to comment about what you were just talking about. Mother Teresa is a good example. She did a lot of things in the name of Jesus, but we don’t know if she would be safe or not. Okay. My question is this. Two things. First of all, did I hang up and listen.
I can hear you better that way. What do you think about the courts making a swear on the Bible when you have to go to court and swear? And then the other two questions are quickly about the Garden of Eden. Do you think that Cain and Abel were twins and what was the exact student that he committed She committed was a sexual clinic and she actually eat fruit. I’ve heard creatures tell two different stories and I’ll hang up and listen and thank you.
Have a good day, sir. All right. By the way, Mother Tressa never trusted Christ to be saved. If you read her writings and you can find a ton of it on the Internet, she was really working her way to Heaven. She, in Calcutta, never ever attempted to lead those people to a saving knowledge of Christ. She was trying to save her own soul by the good deeds that she was doing. And so therefore I don’t believe she was saved at all.
In fact, she felt what she confessed in her writings that she didn’t think God was hearing her prayers at all. And obviously I think she was far from God, although they make her out to be one of the great Christians. She was working her way to heaven because Catholicism teaches as we heard earlier that As long as you’re sincere in whatever God you believe in, you’ll still make heaven. So she wasn’t worried about the people’s souls in Calcutta, whether they would go to heaven or not, because they had many gods in the Hindu religion and would be sincere and therefore make it.
But she was worried about her own salvation that unless she had the work she would not be saved. And of course she was terribly wrong because you’re not saved by works therefore I don’t think she made it. And also, as far as salvation, it’s always a gift and never works at all. Can you enable your flins? And they were clearly, chapter 4 verse 1 talks about one conception and yet two births. And so they were twins. And Adam and Eve both aided the fruit of the tree of the good and evil.
I don’t know who you’re listening to, but if they believed the Bible, it’s very, very clear that in Genesis 2 17 they were told if they ate of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil that they would surely die. And it quite clearly tells us in chapter 6 that they ate of that fruit and then of course they died spiritually instantly and then they later died physically as a result. So a lot of times preachers I think make up things or you’re listening to people that aren’t connected to the Bible.
If you believe the Bible, it’s quite clear. And then as far as swearing on the Bible, I think it’s a good thing. But today I think they’ve removed that. I don’t think they require that at all. But basically it says something because if you believe the Bible and you believe that God will one day judge you and that we’re to tell the truth and not to lie and that our yeses or yays ought to be yays and our nays nays and that we ought to be careful about what we say and what we vow or commit ourselves to.
When we swear on the Bible it’s a statement if you believe the Bible. But I’m afraid we in our society moved away from the Bible where it may not mean anything to the person who lays his hand on the Bible. But there was a time when a person who put his hand on the the Bible knew he was really becoming accountable before God for what he would say. And it was something that would cause a person to think and reflect and give an honest answer.
But today I don’t think it has that same meaning because I think we’ve lost it in our society. People don’t reverence or realize what a wonderful book this Bible is. We have Albert now in Richmond, Virginia and Albert welcome to Bibleline. Hey, yeah, sir. Good morning. Let me catch the radio off. Okay. Okay. Alright, you got the radio off? What you said of it, Matthew 7, I had one lady in my Sunday school class that was using that to say that you could lose your salvation.
So anyway, it took me about two or three months to bring it up about what that scripture really meant. It took me about two or three months to bring it up about what that scripture really meant. But now in my Sunday school class, they’re talking about praying for people and said that greater work than these what we do and that talks about the gifts and all that we’ll have and said I have nothing you heard or things that Jesus prepared for us.
So anyway, I’m going on. I’m sitting there listening, but we don’t have Philip, Jesus told Philip that I can only see the things that I see the Father doing, that God has the power to heal. Well, of course. And that’s really not talking about physical healing. It’s talking there in John’s Gospel about the greater works that we would be able to do in chapter 14 verse 12 is that we would do spiritual things. When I lead someone to Christ, here is somebody who spiritually did, raised from the dead, and now has spiritual life, and they are going to live forever.
If I could heal somebody, and maybe they lived a couple more years here, what favor am I done? I am nothing. If I lead them to Christ, then a great miracle is taking place, which is the greatest miracle that you and I can perform. We can lead someone to Christ and they become born again, they become saved, and they’ll never go to hell, they have eternal life. And that’s what it’s talking about. And I think people are, they got their eyes focused in the wrong place, and they miss out on what Christ is saying here.
We’re not to expect to do any healing miracles today. I believe the gift of healing is ceased. And if they had the gift of healing, If you read Matthew 10, they ought to be able to raise the dead, they ought to be able to cleanse the lepers, and they really ought to be able to replace missing flesh. They’re never yet seen anybody go on stage with one arm and come off of two. These things aren’t happening, and I don’t see anybody raising the dead, and I really don’t see any healing.
If they really could heal, then they should go to the hospital. But you know, there’s one guy, he’ll fall out, you know, and they call it being slain in the spirit. I’m sorry anyway, he’s a real intelligent person, but he’s missing it and I’m telling him I said look, you know The only place I see in the New Testament was was where in Luke where the Centurion fell backwards to unbelievers Absolutely, he don’t know what to say, you know, so they say that feel like the reason I called you They said last Sunday that they feel like sometimes they run into a brick wall And I said well, I didn’t say nothing so Anyway, thank you so much.
It’s a battle. Keep going. I’ll be going to give up. Thank you. All right. We’re going to go to Travis in Bradenton, Florida. Travis, welcome to Bibleline. You’re on the air. Yes, Dr. Lencure. Yes. If I have a question, first of all, I’d just like to thank you for your ministry and just the way that you uncompromisingly preach the truth. I just wish more Christians would just open up their Bibles and see what it says for themselves. I have a question about the Antichrist and in Revelation it says that he will receive a deadly head wound.
And I wanted to ask you, is that, do you believe, or does the Bible say, is that going to be a, is he going to be truly clinically dead and then risen back to life or will that just be a false miracle? Will we will only be led to believe that he was killed? And then my other question is, in your opinion or Bible knowledge that you have, could you give us some sort of a description of what the Antichrist will be because I believe he’s alive today.
And I wonder, you know, will he be in his 30s? Will he be Jewish? Maybe will he possibly even look like the pictures that everybody hangs on their wall of what Jesus supposedly looks like, even though the Bible never gives us a description? And I’ll hang up and listen to your answer. Thank you. Okay. That’s a lot to cover. But you know, the Antichrist will come in the United States and he probably will be in the office of the presidency when the actual tribulation period begins.
And so that could happen in any number of ways. And of course it could be also that somebody who assassinates the president of ICE president would become president. If both of them were killed in some way then the Speaker of the House would become president. So thanks for the change rapidly. Apparently according to Genesis 49, he has some Jewish blood flowing in his veins. We’ll be back tomorrow. Maybe we’ll cover this tomorrow, but we hope that you’ll check out our website, BibleLineMinistries.org.
