That’s 1-800-576-3771. You know, one of the amazing tricks of the devil is to mix things up and present a perverted or distorted message. One of the things that he did, I think, and got a great advantage on us all is back in 1611 when the Greek word metanoia was translated into the English word repent.
Guess what? The English word repent does not mean the same thing as the Greek word metanoia. And that has caused us grief ever since. And if you look up repent in your English dictionary, it will say to turn from sin or to be sorry for sin. But if you look up the Greek word that is translated into the word repent, it is a word that means to change your mind. Mehta, Neutae means change, Neutae means mind, the two words together, Mehta, Neutae make up the word that means a change of mind and that’s all it is.
It’s amazing to me how many people think they have to repent of their sin and they define that as turning from their sin and what is so amazing to me is the phrase, quote, repent of sin.” Unquote doesn’t even occur in the Bible once. That blew my mind. As a young believer, I expected to find it on every page because I heard so often preachers saying, Repent of sin! And they would define it as turn from sin. But look, look, look as you will.
You will not find the phrase, the Repent of Sin, that’s not in your Bible at all, not even once, not even once. Isn’t that amazing? And if you know the true meaning of Repent, it doesn’t make any sense. It would mean because the Greek word wrongly translated into the English word Repent means change your mind. That’s what it means. So what would it mean then? Repent of sin would really mean change your mind about sin. Now I don’t know about you.
I was always raised from childhood to believe that sin was wrong. I was raised in a so-called Christian home and I was taught that sin was wrong. So if I repented of my sin would I all of a sudden change my mind and think sin is wonderful? What have I missed? Oh my goodness, sin is wonderful. Well, that would be crazy. It really doesn’t make any sense at all. you know the true meaning of the Greek word repent. And by the way, if you define the word repent as turn from sin, take a look at the Old Testament.
The English word repent occurs 43 times, 37 out of the 43 times it is God who does the repenting, not man. Only six times does it refer to man. That means if you do your math, 37 divided by 43 times, 37 times it’s God who does the repenting. If you do the math and you divide, it’s 86% of the time it’s God who does the repenting. Now, if you define that as turn from sin, then you’ve got a real big theological problem.
You’ve got a holy God, a righteous God, who’s not capable of sinning, turning from his sin left and right. That’s right. Think about it for just a minute. This ought to cause you to rethink this whole topic about repentance because in the Old Testament of the 43 times the English word repent occurs. 37 out of the 43 times it’s God who does the repenting. And if it means turn from sin, then 86% of the time the word repent occurs in the Old Testament, it’s God who’s turning from his sin.
Impossible. You’ve got a big problem here that needs to be resolved. And it’s amazing how many people get it wrong and they don’t do any thinking. I came out of an engineering background. I graduated from electrical engineering, University of Florida. When I heard things that didn’t match up with the Bible, it greatly disturbed me. I said, how can this be in science, 2 plus 2 is 4? In Africa? In Australia? In Asia? In Europe? In the United States? In outer space?
Wherever you go, 2 plus 2 is 4? Yet churches have a different mindset. It doesn’t have to be connected to scripture or anything else. I found in some churches they would say something similar to 2 plus 2 is equal to 5 and people say hallelujah, amen, preach it. And then the church down the street from that might say 2 plus 2 is 7 and they’ll say hallelujah, amen, preach it. In other words they’ll say things that are not true, cannot be supported or not factual, And yet nobody challenges it, and everybody just believes whatever they hear.
What he feeds me, I will swallow. What he feeds me, I will swallow. I’m so gullible. I’ll take anything and believeexcuse me, I didn’t mean to break into the song, but I really get terribly disturbed by the fact that nobody does their homework and nobody really what the word means. When you tell somebody that they have to turn from your sin to be saved, you’re adding human works to the plan of salvation when the Bible says salvation is not of works.
Here’s the way it works. A person comes just as they are and gets saved and then God the Holy Spirit invails them and gives them the power to have victory over sin in their life. So, they’re asking the unsaved person to change their life, to stop sinning, in order to be saved, and that’s works. Have you ever thought about this? So many times in a service, or in a crusade, in a evangelist will get up, and he’ll say, repent of sin, and he’ll define it as turn from sin, and then as the invitation is given, The choir will sing, just as I am, I come, without one plea, but that thy blood was shed for me.
It’s almost like nobody is doing any thinking here. The preacher is saying, you have to turn from sin. The choir says, no, you don’t have to turn from sin. The preacher says, turn from your sin. The choir says, no, just as I am, I come, without one plea, but that thy blood was shed for me. They ought to be on the same page. If it’s true, and it’s not, but if it were true that you had the term from sin to be saved, then the choir ought to be singing some hymn that would reflect the same truth.
I could probably write it for them. Turn, turn, turn, turn, turn right now, turn or burn, forsake or bake, toil or boil. That’s basically the message we’re being taught here. They really ought to get the choir in line with the preacher. But it’s almost like a contest. The preacher says, Turn from your sin, and the choir says, No, just come as you are. And then the preacher will come right back and say, No, don’t listen to the choir. Turn from your sin.
The choir comes right back with another stanza, says, No, come just as you are. Who do you believe? Well, in this particular instance, the choir is right. The hymn writer was right. Who wrote that wonderful hymn. Just as I am I come without one plea not one plea But that thy blood was shed for me you can’t say I turned for my sin I I I I changed my life. I did anything you simply say I come with nothing To claim but simply to the cross I Clean it’s what Christ did at the cross that matters and so this matter of repentance has been a real advantage to Satan that he must be jumping up and down for joy, as this is a problem that doesn’t seem to go away, and the problem is they never translated the Greek word into an equivalent English word.
What they should have done, they should have taken the Greek word and brought it into the English language. You know they did that with the Greek word for The Greek word Baptizo, B-A-P-T-I-Z-O, is the word for Baptize in the Greek. And what they did is what we call a transliteration. They dropped the O and they replaced it with an E, and they made a new word, an English word called Baptize. It was really bringing the Greek word into the English language, and so we’re all familiar with Baptize, but it comes directly from the Greek word Baptizo.
We dropped the O and replaced it with an E. They should have done that with Metanoia. I bought that right into the English language and can you imagine preachers waving their arms and pointing at the congregation and shouting out, Metatoya! Metatoya! Metatoya! Well, at least perhaps we’d go back to the dictionary, the Greek dictionary, and find out what it really means from the Greek. Because it’s really the word from the original Bible that we’re dealing with here. It means to change your mind.
Let me just say this and you’ll understand the doctrine of repentance if you get this down. You can repent without believing, but you cannot believe without repenting. Let me say that again. You can repent without believing, but you cannot believe without repenting. What does that mean? Well, you can repent. That means to change your mind from the Greek word methanoya, M-E-T-A-N-O-I-A. You can change your mind about Christ, you can change your about how to be saved, you can change your mind about any number of things about the Bible and about Christ and about salvation and not believe, not trust Him.
But you cannot believe, you cannot trust Christ without repenting, you cannot change your mind, rather believe on Christ or trust Him without changing your mind in the process. When you believe, you obviously change your mind from whatever you were previously believing in to believing in Christ. And so if you believe, if you trust Christ, you do repent in the process. Let me say it again. You can repent without believing. You can change your mind and not trust Christ. But you cannot trust Christ.
You cannot believe without repenting. When you change your mind, when you trust Him, you have repented in the process. Dr. Schofield, and I use the Schofield Bible which I recommend so highly. In the footnote, he has on repentance written a hundred years ago. Next year, it will be 100 years. It was copyrighted in 1909. Here we are in 2008, 99 years ago Dr. Schofield said, saving faith includes and implies that change of mind, which is called repentance. When you believe on Christ, when you put your trust in Christ, saving faith includes and implies that change of mind, which is called repentance.
Repentance is included in belief because you do change your mind. But in order to be said, you must repent, you must change your mind. your mind, but it does not mean to turn from sin. It does not mean to change your life. It means to simply trust in the finished work of Jesus Christ. We’re gonna go to the phone lines. I’m Dr. Hank Lindstrom. This is Bibleline. We’re coming to you live from Tampa, Florida from our studios here at the Calvary Community Church.
We want to welcome those on WSLM in Salem, Indiana and all the surrounding areas that are listening today and others that are listening and Today we should be on a full hour in Miami and we hope that you Miami listeners will take advantage of that and stay tuned for the entire Hour down in Miami, Florida. We’re now going to go to Olivia and Olivia is in Clearwater, Florida and Olivia welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air Yes ma’am Well, how are you?
I heard you tell once about that say that Jesus is God. I think that’s what you said. Yes ma’am, I do. I did. And I’ve been trying to convince my son about that because I heard a piece of soap. What I want you to do is to tell me what’s happened in the Bible. I think it’s the books. I think one of them is John, right? That’s exactly right. John’s God’s book. and I’m an animal. Well, there’s some in Corinthians too.
It’s everywhere, really. Let me give you a reference or two. In John 1-1, it says, in the beginning, that’s when the universe was created, was the Word. And the Word was with God, and the Word was God. And then it says, in verse 14, the Word was made flesh, and it says there, we be held as glory. glory as they’ll be gotten to the Father. There we see the eternal Son called there the word, who it says here is God and was God.
He becomes flesh and that’s what took place at Bethlehem. At Christmas we celebrate the fact that God involved a human body and then he grew up and went to the cross and died to pay for our sins. So that is of course a a great passage for you to turn to. John 1-1. You got that? Yes, I got that. I understand that. Well, I sure appreciate you telling me that. Because I’m trying to convince my son, you know, and another thing I want to say, I saw you on the internet.
Good for you. That’s wonderful. I’m mad. My son got you on his computer. I don’t have one. Okay. Well, it’s wonderful. Yeah. And I really appreciate you. And I listen to you every day I get a chance. That’s great. Well, there’s a lot of verses on the fact that Jesus is God. And I try to help the best way that I can. Amen. Well, thank you, Olivia. Okay. Bye-bye. Jesus Christ is God who came and took on human flesh.
1 Timothy chapter 3 verse 16 says, Without controversy, great is the mystery of godliness that God was manifest or made known or revealed in flesh. 2 Corinthians 5 19 tells us that when we witness we are to share that God was in Christ. Jesus Christ is God. One of the important doctrines that we should share when we witness to the lost. It tells us that we’re to say, or here’s what we are to say when we witness 2 Corinthians 5, 19, that God was in Christ.
We find that there are just so many verses. John’s Gospel, in fact, is a book that really presents the case for Jesus being God from from chapter 1 right on through the last of the very… He was a great book and Thomas, you know, when he saw Jesus resurrected from the dead in John 20, he cries out, my Lord and my God. He recognized that Jesus had to be God. Because that body had been lifeless. All the body fluids had drained out on the cross.
Christ had shed his blood. He had five deadly wounds, any of which would have taken the life of any of us. was bloodless at the end of the crucifixion his blood had poured out on the ground and Thomas refused to believe. But when he saw Christ risen from the dead he said, My Lord and My God, Chapter 20 of John’s Gospel, We’re now going to go to Lisa in St. Petersburg and Lisa, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air.
Hi, thank you. Excuse me. All right. I’m so confused. I’m lost. Okay. Now, from what I understand, I’ve heard that John, what you just quoted the difference of the Gospel of John, is that in the beginning there was the word and the word was with God. And I’ve heard the Greek word translate to, and he was a God. Well, that’s the Joe’s witnesses who have told us that lie. And that’s the way. Oh, they are not true. And by the way, if you add the article there in verse one, you have to add it everywhere.
everywhere. There is no reason in the Greek language for you to add the article A there. And so when you read on in the Gospel of John, nothing makes any sense. It goes on to say in verse 6, for example, there was a man sent from God. If you’re going to be consistent as the witnesses aren’t, it should read then if they were right, there was a man sent from A God. And then when it says about us becoming born again, as many as received Christ to them gave you power to become the sons of A God.
And then in John 3 16 it would read for A God, so love the world. It doesn’t make any sense at all. And they did that on purpose to try to do away with the deity of Christ. The Jehovah’s Witnesses are lost. And they are wrong. I was hoping you would say that because I get, that’s why I get so confused is that, I mean I even studied with a Catholic nun for a while and she thinks that she’s right in the Catholics are right and I believe in my heart that the Catholic faith is mostly made by man’s words, man’s rules.
It’s not of God, I don’t think Catholic is. The Jehovah’s Witnesses are telling me a lot of it. We’re right. I was raised back to the Baptist thing that they’re right. I keep praying to God. The correct answer is the word of God is right. When you try to pit this group against that group and the other group, all of those that are in line with Scripture are right and those that are not in line with Scripture are not right.
You know the Jehovah’s Witnesses say that Jesus is a God because they believe He is a created being but let me just show you the verse and you will find this interesting and I hope you will write it down. In Isaiah 43-10 you have the verse in which the Jehovah’s Witnesses get their name and it says here in verse 10 of Isaiah 43, you are by witnesses say it is Jehovah. Of course, it’s talking to Israel, it’s not talking to the Jehovah’s Witnesses, and what it says here, you are my witnesses say of the Lord and my servant whom I have chosen that you may know and believe me and understand that I am He.
Then it says here, before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. So if you’re a true Jehovah’s Witness, you will proclaim that there never has been a God before the God of the Bible, Jehovah or Yahweh, and nor would there ever be a God formed after Him. So because they say that Jesus is a God, they are false witnesses. This very verse that they get their name from exposes them as being false because they’re saying that there is a God formed after Jehovah and Jesus is that God.
And so the very fact that they make Jesus a God separate from God the Father and Jehovah or Yahweh, they become false witnesses. Jehovah says here in verse 11, I even am Jehovah or Yahweh and beside me there is no Savior. So therefore Jesus can’t be the Savior unless he is Jehovah or Yahweh because they are one and the same. Oh my goodness, what is that verse again? Isaiah 43-10. It says that there would not be a God formed after Jehovah.
And so when the Joe’s witnesses say there is a God formed after Jehovah, they’re clearly false witnesses. Oh, I’m going to bring that up. Good for you. And I wouldn’t study with them anymore. They’re so nice. I have a heart-trung thing. No. But I should just say… No, I should just say no. I’m not studying with you anymore. And you don’t probably argue with me. And I’ll just say no, no, no, no, no. I have to practice saying no.
You have to. I have a Joel’s Witness Bible here. I have the Greek translation, the emphatic dialogue that they like to boast about. And I have one that was copyrighted back in 1942. And guess what? The article A in John 1-1 is not there back in 1942. They added that since then. So they’ve tampered with the Bible to their advantage. Oh, that’s bad. Well, thank you for helping me. You helped me a lot. Keep listening. Thank you, Dr.. Keep listening to Bibleline Lisa.
I’m Dr. Engtincer. We’ve got to go to break here, but we want to say we’re so glad to be able to be with you every day. And that’s because we have listeners like you who support Bibleline. Would you help us? Would you call and give a gift to Bibleline by credit card over the phone or call and ask for an envelope to be sent? We’ll send you an envelope with our dress and you can mail that gift into Bibleline.
We really are trying to keep this program going and expanding and we know that without your help we couldn’t be on the air even for a minute. And we thank God for everyone to be thanking the advance for your gifts and your prayers to Bibleline. We’re going to take a break. I’ll be right back. I’m Dr. Anker-Anchlinszerman. We’ll take a break. We’ll come right back into a second half hour of Bibleline. So stay tuned. Don’t go away. Bibleline will be back in a moment.

Isn’t that exciting? And so we have reached a lot of people from all over the world. And we have people in our church from a number of different foreign countries that are excited about winning their friends and family to Christ and are telling their friends about Bibleline and they are listening in many parts of the world in Europe, in Asia, in Africa, in the Middle East, in the South America, in Central America, and in Australia, in New Zealand. And we’re excited about what God is doing through the internet and the fact that we have this platform to be able to present Bibleline through the world through the internet.
We are on the radio right now live and we will be back again tomorrow at the same time live. Again, just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3771.
Now here again is Dr. Hank Lindstrom. We’re back from that break. This is Bibleline. It’s great to be with you. Thanks for tuning in today. We appreciate you and all of our listeners. We’re excited about the fact that the Bible is the Word of God. It’s a book that we can turn to. We had a previous caller talking about who’s right when they hear this group and that group and the other group all lying for being the true church when the Bible is actually the Word of God.
That is the authority. Not me, not any organization or denomination. But the word of God, and as long as we’re in line with Scripture, we’re going to be right. And whenever we deviate the Scripture, then we’re wrong. Isaiah 8.20 says, If they speak not according to this word, that is the word of God. It is because there is no light in them. What a great verse that is, I hope you’ll write it down. Isaiah 8.20, If they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.
We know we have today so many things that the devil has done to muddy the message and cause confusion. And one of those is that doctrine of repentance that we talked about earlier. I have a number of CDs on that topic and get the written material and download it right off of my website and print it out. Just go to BibleLineMinistries.org. Go to the right hand corner, bottom corner of the home page. on Dr. Lynch from Zarnicles and put the word repent in the scanner in the search engine and or repentance and you’ll find several articles that I have written that will define it for you very clearly.
We are living in a time when there is a lot of confusion and guess who the author of confusion is? Well it’s Satan. The Bible tells us in 1 Corinthians 14 that that he is the author of Confusion. Be careful that you don’t stay confused, but you get into the Bible and become clear with what God has said. We’re gonna go to Carl, and Carl is calling in here from Tampa, Florida. Carl, welcome to Bibleline, and you’re on there.
The lady that called about to hold witness, I heard a gentleman one time get some scripture and how to witness to these people, and I’ve written those scriptures down. And as you probably know that you know and revelations one eight it talks about that uh… that uh… jojoba is the first in the law for the makeup and so when you ask they’ll say you ask who is other personal asked note and then you go to revelations and again it talks about the first of the last you ask them who is that no tell you again they will go over and you get the twenty revelations twenty two thirteen it says the same thing And then when you get to Revelations 117 and 18, this is where they don’t have an answer for this.
And that scripture says, and when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, fear not, I am the first and the last. I am he that lived and was dead. And behold, I am alive forevermore. So you ask them when did you hope? they will not get back to you. No, it’s a very powerful proof that verse at Isaiah 44-6 where Jehovah claims to be the first and the last that Jesus is presented as the first and the last in the Book of Revelation.
So obviously he is the same God or a total counterfeit and a fraud and there’s no two ifs ands or buts about that. Also in Timothy, because Timothy 3 16, it says he and capital others and they refer that and ask them who they are. But anyway, it’s interesting when you try to talk to these people because they won’t listen and they’re pretty much indoctrinated and they really know what they know. I know a lady that I’ve been with her since she’s been in jail, I was going for 45 years.
And so it’s pretty hard to get across to something. I’ve already twisted the word so much that they, that’s the reason that they know. They, uh, they really go to practice on the Kingdom Hall on Thursday nights on how to talk to, uh, Christians and win them over to the witness movement. They really don’t know their Bibles. In fact, the Watchtower Society admits that if they didn’t stay with the Watchtower literature, that in two years they would A post date which really means that they would become Christians.
In other words, if they just stayed with the Bible and didn’t have the lenses of the watchtower literature to guide them, they would become Christians because they are manipulated and deceived by the watchtower society in Brooklyn, New York. Carl, thank you so much and we need to pray for the witnesses that they’d come to know Christ. We have Mary Ann in Clearwater, Florida. Mary Ann, welcome to Bibleline. You’re on the air. Yes, thank you Dr. Lester. Last week I believe it was, I called the tell-in, I believe somebody called in a question about on a tax-honomary.
And I think I just called the tell-in, you saying, well that’s why I don’t listen to him anymore. I usually catch sometimes it’s question and answer type, you know, at the end of his, you know, television sermon. I was wondering, could you feel me in on what’s the reason why you don’t listen to him anymore. Well, because he believes you can lose your salvation, which is a major doctrinal error. Any church that teaches you can lose your salvation is really saying that from this point right now in time till the time you die, what you do or what you do not do will determine what you’re saving up.
So in other words, how you live your life between now and death determines your salvation, works and that means if you trust it in your works you’re not saved because the Bible clearly clearly in Ephesians 2 9 salvation is not a works is the gift of God it’s not of yourself it’s by grace or by mercy or you saved through faith in Christ so he believes you can lose it and there are amazingly a lot of those that are on the air that teach you can lose it and they really have the gospel wrong therefore because Jesus saves you eternally.
When you you get saved, he gives you eternal life, you possess it at the moment you believe in forever thereafter. And he promises he’ll never cast you out, John 637, and he would not even lose one of those that have come to him, John 639. So he’s a false teacher, and his message is false, as are all those who teach you could lose your salvation are false. Okay, and one more thing. I don’t know if I’ve understood him correctly, but I don’t think he believes in the rapture if I’m not mistaken.
No, I can list all the things he doesn’t believe. Oh, okay. I mean, that one thing is enough to say, don’t listen anymore. Oh, okay. Thank you very much. You’re welcome, Marianne. And you really need to ask that question. If you’re attending it, you’re sometimes they’ll never come out and tell you that. And some of them will say that, oh, I’m eternally secure, but they’re basing it on the fact that they say that they’re never going to turn away from God, and they’re never going to stop attending church, and they’re never going to stop reading the Bible, and they’re never going to turn their back on Jesus.
So they’re really telling you that the reason why they believe they’re going to heaven is because they’re doing all those works. Salvation is not based upon what you do for God. It’s based upon what God did for you at the cross. When Jesus died, He fully paid your sin dead at the cross and it’s paid for, it’s done. It’s over. You receive that gift of salvation you purchase when you trust Him as your Savior and you become saved eternally.
But it’s a subtle thing. One person just said recently to me that I know that I know that I know that I’m saved. And he said, because I love the Lord and I will never depart from Him and I’ll never stop going to church. And I’ll never, and he went on with all this list of works. And obviously, he’s trusting in his works. I will tell you, I know that I know that I know that I’m saved because of what Jesus did for me at the cross and has nothing to do with what hanglins from does with his life.
I love the Lord and I’m serving him, but not to be saved, but because I’m grateful that I’m saved, but not to maintain my salvation or to get it. Salvation is not my works and everybody that believes you can lose it, make them think about it and you have to say, are you telling me that between right now and death, if I live the Christian life I’ll make heaven. Yes, they’ll say, I agree with that. And then if you say, well, between right now and death, if I don’t live the Christian life and I backslide and I die, what would happen then?
Oh, you’d go to hell. Then you’re teaching works. You’re telling me that how I live my life will determine my salvation. That makes me the Savior not Christ and that’s a false plan of salvation. The true plan of salvation says Jesus paid it all. I love that Him. Jesus paid it all all to Him. I.O. sin had left a crimson stain, but Jesus washed it as white as snow. Marianne, thank you so much for that call and you’re welcome to call anytime.
We have Stephen in Tennessee calling in and he says if Jesus Christ is God, This is off here. Stephen says, if Jesus Christ is God, why did He cry out? Why have you forsaken Me? Matthew 27, 46. You have to recognize that Jesus was God, but He was also a man. And as a man, he became the substitute sacrifice for our sins on the cross. And as a man, God turned his back on Jesus as he bore your sins and mind in his body on the cross.
And so Jesus is saying, as a man, my God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? And it was the man Jesus who died. God did not die on the cross. God is not dead. You know that God is dead movement came out years ago out of a Methodist seminary, and there So they were saying, if Jesus is God and he died on the cross, then God is dead. The whole God is dead movement came out of that. Can you believe that they would ever come up with that?
Obviously they had too much time on their hands. If you’re reading the Bible, it’s very clear that it was the man Jesus that died and that he was forsaken of God. Isaiah the prophet had said, way back there in Isaiah 53, about 700 years before Jesus ever came. Let me read to you from Hebrews chapter 10, and notice the focus here on our salvation upon the death of the man Jesus. And I’m going to turn there and I’m almost there right now.
But in Hebrews chapter 10, it says here, by the will of God, we are sanctified. That means made pure and holy through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ. Verse 12, this man, Jesus, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, set down on the right hand of God. Notice the focus here, this man, Jesus is a man as well as he is God. And then of course it says here that religion cannot take away that sin.
It was Christ the man who died. It was his body that was offered his blood was shed, and that purchased our salvation. We now have Tony in Tampa, and Tony, welcome to Bibleline Year on the Air. Yes, good morning. Thank you for having me. I have been studied with Dr. Arnold Mary for years. I have him on tip saying that for somebody to believe that Jesus Christ has saved you once and he’s going to save you again, he’s saying that he haven’t done, Jesus Christ haven’t done a good word.
He doesn’t believe that if you save, you can lose your salvation. the way. If you see, you repent. You confess your sin. That’s all Jesus Christ is asking you. But he doesn’t believe you can lose your salvation. Okay. I have a tape just a few feet from me, my Arnold Murray. And he says in 2 Corinthians 5, 10, when we must all appear before the Joseph’s of Christ, that everyone may receive the things done in his body, not whether it be good or bad.
He says that you need to be careful that you don’t find that you will not be allowed to be interested in the heaven at that judgment. So he clearly teaches that you could lose your salvation and one day when God examines your works and he’s got it totally wrong. That judgment of the judgment seat of Christ is for believers’ works to determine degree of reward or also reward. Has nothing to do with your salvation. Once you trust Christ, you’re saved eternally and I hope that you’ll listen a little more carefully to him and I’ll be glad that if he has a website I’ll go find it in a few minutes I’m sure because he probably has it on there somewhere where I can pull it up and print it out for you.
But thank you Tony. Arnold Murray definitely does believe you can lose your salvation. We have Mary in Bartow, Florida. Mary, welcome to Bible and you’re on the air. Oh good morning. Yes, another one about Arnold Murray. He does believe that you can lose your salvation. My sister said with him and she also says that now he’s teaching that God didn’t know that Satan was going to fall. That was a surprise to him. And I just found a scripture in 2 Timothy 1, 1, 2 Timothy 1, 9 that says that grace was giving to us through Christ Jesus before the world begun.
So he must have known that we were going to fall because why would he give us grace if we wasn’t going to fall? Amen. You’re up to the right. Yeah. Yeah. Isn’t there a verse back in Genesis and I don’t know where it is that said that salvation was planned before the foundation of the world? It doesn’t say it in Genesis, but it does say it in the Testament. Yes. Oh, okay. piety. I didn’t know. I was thinking it was in Genesis.
But yeah, I know that that was all planned. Nothing catches God off guard. I mean, he’s God. Right. And so she’s saying that they, that they, that, oh, and she also tells me that your Barnumary says you’re not supposed to take the Bible literally. She says it was never meant to be taken literally. Well, I’ve got to ask her this and I haven’t yet. Why are you supporting someone that doesn’t want to, well, if it’s like a novel, why would you pay somebody to teach you a novel on TV?
ridiculous I don’t understand this man. He’s he’s way way out left field He teaches the about the first earth age and all the spirits were created at once And now God’s got to hurry up and get them all down here. That’s why there’s so many babies being born and oh Very strange teachings. Oh, he twists the scriptures terrible He just twists them and I noticed there are certain books that he don’t teach on I’ve noticed that. He’ll take a text maybe out of it and he’ll explain it away and then he goes back.
He stays in the Old Testament almost all the time. Very rare does he go in the New Testament and then he doesn’t teach everything. He’ll read so much of it and then he’ll say, and on and on and on and we can study that later and he’ll never get back to it. Well, Mary, we thank you for sharing that with us and I hope our previous caller would and take note that he clearly teaches you to lose it. Yes, he does.
I’ve heard him say it myself. Thank you, Mary. Thank you. All right. Mary in Bartow, Florida to the east of Tampa. And we have now Matthew in Spring Hill, Florida. And Matthew, welcome to Bibleline you’re on here. More Hank, can you talk about in light of losing salvation? Can you talk about the passage on Philippians 3, verse 9, being found in hen? Well that’s a wonderful verse because when you trust Christ as Savior you are found righteous as God is based upon the fact that you have been given Christ righteousness.
It says, be found in Him and I love the last two words, it says, by faith. So we’re found in Christ, that is we’re placed into the body of Christ and it says, not having my own righteousness which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which of God by faith. So when you’re in Christ, you are seen with Christ’s righteousness. And you’re not seen with your own works, which are the works of the law, or by our trying to obey the rules of the Bible.
We can never be righteous enough to enter heaven by doing those things. We need God’s righteousness, and every believer has it at the moment you believe. moment you believe. So as a believer, you are found as though you were as righteous as God Himself when you trust Christ to save you because God sees you in Christ. If I were to use my Bible as an illustration here and let the Bible represent Christ, and if I were to take a soiled piece of paper and let it represent us in our righteousness and put that piece of paper in the Bible and close it, I could no longer see the soiled piece of paper which would represent us in our sins and in our righteousness.
But I would see the Bible that has covered me as I’m in the Bible, in the illustration I’m using, and all you can see from any direction would be the Bible or representing Christ, the righteousness of Christ. So God looks down at the believer, sees us in Christ, doesn’t see our sins, he’s forgiven them, he’s paid for them at the cross. He sees us with the righteousness of God, which is what Philippians 3 and 9 teaches. That’s a great verse.
Hope that helps. Thank you, Matthew, and I guess Matthew has gone ahead and hung up. We have Aaron in Dade City, Florida, and he says in Hebrews 6, 4 through 8, do you believe that this is a true Christian or is it somebody like a Pharisee? Aaron in Dade City, Hebrews 6, 4, 3, is talking about a genuine believer. It gives five marks that they’re a believer. It says that they’ve tasted the gift of God. I believe that’s salvation.
They’ve been made partakers of the Holy Spirit. You can’t get the Holy Spirit unless you’re saved. Romans 8 and 9 says, if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he’s none of his. And so there are five things there that point out that this is a Christian. if you depart away from the Lord. It’s saying it’s impossible for you to become saved again because you’re already safe forever. It says it’s impossible if you’ve fallen away from the Lord as a believer.
To renew yourself to that repentance that took place when you got saved, that change of mind where you trusted Christ as your Savior, because you would be crucifying Christ all over again to yourself and putting Him to an open chain. In other words, Christ will never die again. You don’t need enough to sacrifice. You don’t need to go back and become saved again. He saves those that he saves completely, the Bible says. You’re completely saved and forever saved at the moment you believe and to try to go back and become saved again, which many churches teach?
Wrongly. You are actually just crucifying Christ to yourself because he’s never going to die again and trying to become saved, and you’re putting him to an open chain. You’re saying that his one time sacrifice at the cross was. It was not sufficient to save you eternally. You have to do something all over again to become saved if you get away from the Lord. You have never lost once you are saved. The Lord says you can’t get away from it.
Jonah was saved, but he disobeyed the Lord. He was supposed to go to Nineveh and said, I don’t want to go to Nineveh. He took his good money, went down and bought a ticket on a ship. He took a ship that was heading as far away from Nineveh as it could possibly be. Guess what? Did God know about Jonah being on that ship? Absolutely. He brought a storm that almost sank that ship. And Jonah finally confessed and said to the people on the board the ship, then it’s my fault.
God is trying to get my attention. If you only cast me overboard, the sea will become calm. And that’s exactly what happened. And Jonah was a believer. you can’t run from the Lord. Jonah could never get far away from God. God was right on top of him no matter what happened in his life. We’re now going to go to Tom in Sarasota, Florida. Tom, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Yes, good morning, Dr. Hank. I just want to ask you a question that will hang up and listen to the radio.
Could you comment on a gentleman I’ve heard on the radio, many, many times on another radio station? I believe his name is Mr. Janet Holy. I’ve never heard him. No. You’re not. No, I don’t know what he please. If he has a website, look it up and they probably find out pretty quickly, believe. Okay. I’ll give you more information another time. Okay. Thank you. Thank you, Tom. I don’t really get a chance to listen to everybody that’s on the air.
And we’ll try to look it up on the internet and see if we can find something. But eternal life is God’s gift and amazingly people want you to try to earn it or buy it or do something to gain it. When the Bible says there’s nothing you can do, we have to come just like the dying thief who had nothing to offer a simply trusted Christ and Jesus said on the cross today, thou shall be with me in paradise.
Dan in Tampa, Florida calls in with this offer a question. He says, How do you talk about the Bible to non-believers who believe the Bible is corrupt and fall under the belief that they are good enough or by good works, if I’ve been good to their neighbor they could go to heaven? Well I just remind you Hebrews 4th, Fall tells us, Dan, that the Bible is living in powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword. Hebrews 4, 12, and it works whether a person believes it or not.
When people tell me the Bible, they don’t believe it or whatever, I say, fine. Let me just tell you what it says anyway. I quote the Bible and I give them what it says, and I have been surprised even myself, sometimes within five minutes, they trust Christ. Why? Because the Word of God is powerful. It’s living. It brings life to an unsafe person. And so I wouldn’t witness to something like that any differently than anybody else. Don’t ever let the devil disarm you by saying, well, when the person you’re talking to says the Bible, they don’t believe it.
I say, well, fine, just don’t stop breathing because when you die, every unbeliever will believe the Bible one day. Every unbeliever will believe in hell because they’ll be there. Every unbeliever will believe that Jesus Christ was the only means of salvation, but it’ll be forever too late. So Dan, just give them the word of God anyway in love, letting them know that here is what the Bible says and the consequences if they die without Christ are great because they’ll spend an eternity separated from God in the eternal lake of fire.
We’re right at the end of our program today. I get a one. I remind you that Bibleline is less or supported. I hate to talk about money. I really do. But you know, it is one of the things I think that God wants us to do because He wants us to partner. This is the not the counterfeit, but the real partnership because without you, we could not be on the air. It costs money to pay for the radio stations that we’re on.
And we just added mining out for the full hour. We don’t have the money to pay for that. I’m hoping that South Florida will come on board with us and say I’ll help if every listener in South Florida would help us we could possibly make that commitment to happen. Otherwise we’d have to drop that. We don’t want to do that. But we need your help.
