We have lots of CD series that I’ve taught and they’re available. A lot of people are enjoying them. We have 2 Peter, 1 Peter, John. We have the book of Revelation, The book of Jude, the book of Hebrews, the book of Romans.
We’ve got tons of them. And each of these are 10 or 12 hours of teaching, and they’ll help you in learning. A lot of people are using them to go back and forth to work and using that time to an advantage, to listen to the Word of God taught. And these are verse by verse expositions of these different books. And a number of them are on different topics like what about parables or how to lead a soul the Christ or the Holy Spirit or the Rapture.
You can get all kinds of CD series and many people have used them to facilitate a Sunday school class or Bible study and you might want to try that as well. If you have your Bible there, please do open it and get it out. We’re now going to turn over to the book of Galatians and we’re going to look Look at chapter 2 in verse 16. Relations 2… The Bible is very clear that no one can ever be justified or saved by keeping the law or the commandments.
And yet, when you ask people, sometimes, what do you think you have to do to go to heaven? They’ll usually say, well, keep to ten commandments. But nobody has ever kept them. And therefore, nobody can ever be justified by the law. And the Bible makes it very clear. very clear. There are so many good verses that make this clear. You would wonder how can anybody go astray. The seventh day Adventists like to teach the law as being required for getting you to heaven.
This is certainly not true. Let me quote the verse. It’s a good one. I memorized it early on as a Christian and it was a tough one and that’s why I took the challenge. It says here knowing that a man is not justified, knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
It’s no flesh. Nobody, nobody in a human body will ever be justified by the law. And the reason why, of course, nobody could ever keep the law and no one ever has. So Jesus said it so plainly in John 719. He said, did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you have kept it? Didn’t Moses give you the law, and yet none of you have kept it? No one has ever kept the law. The only one that is the exception is Jesus himself, who is God, and he obviously is sinless, and he kept the law.
But no one else has ever kept the law. Even if you ever break the law, and that would include telling a single lie, not a bare false witness, if you’ve ever told a lie, then you’re guilty of breaking the law and the consequence is really hell. The Bible says the wages of sin is death. Adverse says the wages of sin singular is death. sin, one lie would be enough to exclude you from heaven and cause you to be condemned by the law.
Let me go over to chapter 3 now to verse 10 where it says, for as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse. The law curses us, it doesn’t save us. And so it says, if you’re attempting to be saved by the law, you’re under the curse. And then it quotes from the Old Testament and says, cursed is everyone that continuous, not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.
In other words, if you would ever be justified by keeping the 10 commandments, you’d have to keep all of them perfectly, continuously, throughout your whole life and never ever break one. Well, obviously that’s not going to happen because you’ve already broken the law. If you are a living, breathing human being, you’ve already broken the law. The Bible says that everyone has not kept the law, but everyone has come under its condemnation. And this verse says you’re under the curse if you don’t not only keep the law, but continue to keep it faithfully all the way up until you’re deaf, you’re under the curse.”
And that’s a quote from the Old Testament and the New Testament makes it plain as well. So therefore the result is the clear in Galatians 3.11 where it says, but that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God is evident. It’s evident. It’s kind of plain. I don’t know anybody who has not told a lie. You know, I first heard that presented when I got saved. I was shown a verse in the book of Revelation that says, if you told a single lie, you would not be able to go to heaven.
Revelation 21, 27 says, and there shall no wise enter into it. That is heaven. anything that the finalists, neither whatsoever work of the abomination or make it a lie. When I saw that, I panicked. You know, this was the first time in my life I ever saw myself as really lost and in trouble with God. You know, I used to think God was going to great on the curve. I thought I was mainstream. I thought I wasn’t that bad and I wasn’t that good, but I wasn’t that bad and I figured that, well, hey, I’ll just slide in with them the bulk of the people that are going to go to heaven.
Little did I realize that the Bible taught one lie would keep me out of heaven. And I panicked. I said, oh my goodness, I’m in trouble. I had told about three or four lies at that time. That’s not true. That’s another lie. But you know, everybody has told at least a lie. And the Bible says not even a lie can enter into heaven. Where God is, sin cannot exist. No sin can enter into heaven. So if you were to try to enter heaven with any sin, there would be death in heaven.
So obviously we’ve got a serious problem here because every one of us have, I’m sure, told alive. You never told a lie in your life, not even what they call a white lie. Everybody, I’m sure, has. And the Bible surely tells us that all have sinned. All have come short of the glory of God. And here it tells us that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident. Well, how does one become justified then?
Well, guess what? This wonderful book of Galatians picks out Abraham as an illustration how one could be justified in God’s sight. And here it tells us in verse 6 of chapter 3, even as Abraham believed God and it was a candidate him for righteousness. What a great verse. It’s a quote from Genesis 15, 6, and it tells us here that Abraham believed God. It doesn’t say he believed in God, which of course he did, but he believed God. God had told Abraham the prednisolvation, and obviously that prednisolvation involves Jesus, and he heard the message, and he believed what God told him concerning Christ, and God counted that faith in Christ for righteousness.
Let me quote verse 8 where it says, and the scripture, and the scripture, the Word of God, for seeing that God would justify the nations through faith preached before the gospel on Abraham. What an incredible verse. It tells us here that Abraham had the gospel preached to him and that Abraham believed God and it was counted to him for righteousness. This wonderful verse, Genesis 15 and 6, is quoted three times in the New Testament. It’s quoted in the book of Romans in chapter 4, showing again how men are saved by faith alone apart from works in trusting Christ as Savior.
It’s quoted here in Galatians chapter 3, again with the backdrop of the law condemning everybody that no flesh, no one would ever be justified in God’s sight by the law that Abraham believed the gospel and was saved. Let me read verse 8 again. It’s so incredible. It says here in the scripture for seeing that God would justify the nations through faith preached before the gospel unto Abraham. Abraham heard the gospel and believed the gospel and that’s how he got saved.
Verse 6 says, He believed God, and it was counted to Him for righteousness. So a person becomes saved when they believe or trust the gospel message that are the death, the barrel, the resurrection of Christ. And there’s no other way to be saved. A little bit later in Galatians in chapter 3, it tells us that Abraham was given the promise of Jesus. It says in verse 16, now to Abraham and to his seed where the promises made. God did not say it says here in this quote, and to seeds plural as of many, but as of one.
And then it says here, and to thy seed which is Christ. In other words, it’s very clear here that God, when he told Abraham about the promise seed that would come, that would be the Savior, He was talking about one individual out of all that would ever live, out of all that would ever be the seventh Abraham, that one individual who is Christ would be the one who would die to pay for the sins of the world and through faith in Him a person would be justifying.
Wow, the Bible is wonderful. And we find here that you are justified. You become saved by faith. I love verse 26 where it says, you all are the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. Not by works, not by the commandments, not by church membership, not by the deeds that you and I perform, but based upon what Christ did for us, you can be saved. I was taught the opposite and most people are. Most people think they have to change your life to be same.
Nowhere does it say that? Most people think they have to continue faithfully throughout their life serving God to be saved. Nowhere does the Bible ever teach that? The Bible teaches that salvation is received by an act of faith at a point in time and is received at that moment and possessed forever thereafter. Whose so ever John 3 16 says, believeth in Christ, that is put their trust in Christ, Should not perish because Christ perished in your place, but that you would have Have being a present-sense verb you would have Ever lasting life When I was 18 and I heard this explained to me and I trusted Christ as my Savior I received eternal life at that moment and From that moment on I possess it and will possess it forever and ever and ever and ever Never.
Once you become saved, you’re saved forever and you can never be lost. Now you can lose rewards which are based upon our works. You can lose your joy which is based upon our works. You can lose your effectiveness which is based upon our works. You can lose your testimony which is based upon our works. You can even lose your life. The Lord might take you home to heaven early. but you cannot lose your salvation. That is a gift and it’s given freely at the moment you believe based upon what Christ accomplished for you by his death and shed blood.
And so once you trust Christ, you’re forever his. We’re going to go to the phone lines. I’m Dr. Anne Cleanster. And this is Bibleline and the phone number of Bibleline is 1-800-576-3771. 1-800-576-3771. We’re first going to Maggie or Margie rather in Tampa and Margie welcome to Bibleline your own ear. Yes, good morning Dr. Manstrich. Good morning. I have a question today. I’ve raised my daughter, my older daughter, and to, you know, with Rayton in Church, believing in the Lord or her life she’s 22.
And at this point she’s gone for a stage and she wants to do some body piercing which is rare to me because she’s, you know, influenced by her friends. They want to ask you, what in the Bible could I find something that will against the body piercing? Because I know the body is your temple, but I wanted to show her that, you know, that is written in the words that you shouldn’t be doing that. Well, the verse you want is Leviticus 1928.
It says you’re not to print any marks on your body and you’re not to make any cuttings in your body. So it covers both in one verse. Leviticus 1928 and God really doesn’t want us to deface the body that he created. This is his creation. And so when we put graffiti marks on it and cut it and so on, God is not really happy. That’s a great verse. Leviticus 1928. Once you have these tattoos, it’s hard to get rid of them, but this is good preventative stuff.
If you can show from the Bible that It really is God doesn’t want us to do that. Amen. Thank you, Dr. Linsch. You’re very welcome. Thank you for calling in Margie and Tampa. We now have Doug in Lansing, Michigan. Doug, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Hello. Good morning. Hi. Hello. Hi, Dr. Linschrum. Good morning. You’re on the air. Thanks. My question is about Revelations 21. It talks about the New Jerusalem. And I seem to come back to this a lot because my mind is kind of scientific and I think about things in that way.
And we’re Christian and I believe in God. And I believe in the New Testament. But my question to you is when it talks about John’s vision of New Jerusalem and how it’s dimensions and it says… That’s really fifteen hundred miles. So it’s a pretty large city, 50, 100 miles long, 50, 100 miles wide, and 50, 100 miles high. So apparently it is a Cuban shape, and if you placed it on the United States it would cover a great portion of the United States.
It’s a pretty big city. Do you think there’s anything significant? I mean, I don’t really understand why we would… I don’t think it does. I believe it’s going to orbit the planet and it’ll be an orbiting body. So it sparkles right now like a diamond the Bible says and it’s going to come down from heaven to the new earth and I believe it will be an orbiting body and the gates will be open 24 seven and you’ll be able to go in and out and enjoy the new earth.
which will be pristine. So we actually, I think, are going to live in this orbiting body above the Earth called the New Jerusalem. So I don’t think it will ever touch on the Earth. Okay. That was my question. All right. Thank you, Doug. It’s a good question. Okay. All right. And I think the same way I’ve already thought about that a lot and I believe it has to be an orbiting body. We’re now going to go to Gary and he’s in North Adams, Massachusetts and we’re on the here there every day twice a day.
In fact, and Gary, welcome to Bibleline in Massachusetts. Gary? Yes. I’m here. Okay. I recently, you know, I got saved about not even a year ago. I came to know the Lord and I wanted to ask your opinion about something. What do you think about Fred Price? I have been watching him on Sundays and he seems to have a lot of knowledge about the Bible and the word of God, but I hear people talking about, you know, he is a false, you know, minister.
Well the answer is yes he is. If you want a book that really exposes the beliefs of Frederick Price, you have to get Christianity and in crises by hand can’t graph. He does a wonderful job of getting the quotes together for you He also has audio quotes that you can get which show his belief system basically they’re the so-called faith movement and their faith is in faith not in Christ and a lot of strange beliefs including the fact that we all are little gods and And that’s the lie that Satan fell back in the garden.
If he hated the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, they would become a God or like God and and that is certainly taught by all of these of that movement and includes not only for the price but many him and Kenneth Copeland and Kenneth Hagan and there’s a whole host of them that Teach these strange teachings about Christ I would recommend you get the book. I don’t stock it in our bookstore, but it can be gotten in your local Christian bookstore, Christian in crisis by Hank Hanegraaff.
Okay, I’ll definitely check it out. Thank you. All right, and you’re very welcome. And now we’re going to go to Reginald. And Reginald is in Tampa, Florida. Welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Good morning, Dr. Leisha. How are you doing today? I hope you have a blessed day. I got a question. It’s more and more of a statement anything else but I’ve been listening to a lot of ministers that day but I expected for everybody’s trying to pin down all these beast days and stuff and that’s kind of inappropriate don’t you think?
I think you need to be careful right and I like to speculate but I don’t say any dates. I think we’re close I really do but maybe you’ll come this year. Oh you come sooner than people think because the average lifespan of a human being is roughly 78 years. Israel has been a nation for sixty something on years and everything that book is saying is coming true down to the letter. I mean even to the point what I want to ask too, there’s a passage in the Bible says in the end days there will be those who say they are Jews and are not.
Where is that covered? That’s in Revelation chapter three. Ah okay because I was watching the History Channel and they were doing D&M some of the most far-fetched people around the globe. You know they’re not the major African tribes or Indian tribes or anything like that but it seems like these small groups have old jewish jean dating back to the time of david it’s interesting isn’t it yes it is it’s amazing that this is so exciting well i’m right with you there and of course uh…
i’d be careful about setting a date but certainly we should be looking for his return and i believe he’s coming soon oh yes he is and you have a blessed day doctor randy keep doing a good work thank you now that original in camp for we’re now going to go to bob in camp before and bob will come to bob on your own air Yes, good morning. I agree with you that once saved, always saved. However, could you explain a little bit more on how repentance fits into this?
Because in Mark 4, Jesus as a starting as public ministry is calling repent for the kingdom of Adventist near. And Mark 1 is the beginning of repent to five of the seven churches of Asia. He says to repent. in acts to what is says when when asked on day of pentecost and peter said that they’re repent and be baptized and then finally on peter and one peter uh… to he says uh… elect according to the for knowledge of god the father through sanctification of the spirit unto obedience and sprinkling of blood of jesus christ says that could you maybe explain a little more about how they repent and fit in uh…
with the program Well, once saved, always saved. No, once you, it’s a change of mind. The Greek word is metanoia. It means change of mind. And you need to change your mind about Christ. You know, the religious leaders were saying that Jesus was not the Messiah. He was not the Savior. And so they had to change their mind and realize that he was indeed the Savior. And when you change your mind about who Christ is and trust Him, as your Savior, you become saved.
So that change of mind can never be repeated. Once you become saved, you’re saved forever, and that happens at the moment of belief. So it’s something that is unchangeable. If you look over in Romans, for example in chapter 11 verse 30 it says, the gifts and calling of God are without repentance. That means they’re irrevocable. Once you change your mind and become saved, they cannot be reversed and go the other direction. But I’m Dr. Anker-Ink Lindstrom. We’re going to take a short break.
We’ll come back and do a second and a half hour. So keep your radio tuned right where it is. And I’ll be right back with My Blind and the Second and a Half. Don’t go away. Bye, My Blind. We’ll be back in a moment. Give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. All right, I’m Dr. Anker-Ink Lindstrom. And this is My Blind. It’s great to be with you this Wednesday. And we hope that you’re having a great day. We hope you’ll enjoy Bible Eye and the rest of the week.
In the Tampa Bay area, you’ll be able to hear it seven days a week. On the Internet, you can hear it anywhere in the world, as often as you like, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Check that out at BibleEyeandMinistries.org. We also, of course, want you to know we have Bible Eye and Music for Children, which is wonderful. It is a neat thing. We’ve got six albums, six CDs that have songs that are really catchy. The kids like them.
And they can put your child’s name or grandchild’s name on the CD so that when they hear it played, their name will be repeated 40-something times. And it’s powerful. It has really impacted my granddaughter. open the door for us to talk because when we sing together and talk about the the truths that are in the songs, it just opens the door to talk more about the Lord and that’s really exciting for me and I believe that it’s a tool to be able to lead your children to Christ.
Go to my website BibleLineMinistries.org, go to the online bookstore on the right hand side of every page. There’s a vertical banner you can click on and click on the Bible and Music for Children and you can actually put in your child’s name, type it in and sample it. You can listen to it and decide if that’s going to work for you and then you can order it and I think you’re going to find it really, really great. Bible and is listeners supported.
We’re in the middle of the summer. It’s a leaner time of year for giving and we need your help. Could you help Bible and would you consider praying for us and maybe calling in today and giving a gift by credit card over the phone. If this program is a blessing to you and you want it to see, you don’t want to see it continue and to be a blessing to others, would you help us out? We have no other means of support than the gifts given by our listeners.
So would you partner with us? This is a real partnership. And I want to thank you in advance because really I do appreciate every one of you who give and pray for Bible you’re making it possible for us to bring the gospel to people that have never heard it before and also challenged believers to get into the Bible where there are answers and it’s a book you can trust and rely upon. I hope you’ll take advantage. Our Resource Center has lots of wonderful books that will help you also.
books I recommend. You can get a resource sheet sent to you free charge. Just call and ask for it to be sent. Or go on the online bookstore and take a look at our resources. I’m Dr. Hank Lindstrom. We’re going to rejoin stations now that have been on break and do the second half hour. So stay tuned right where you are.
Would you like to call Bibleline and ask Dr. Lindstrom a question? You can. Just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3771. Now here again is Dr. Hank Lindstrom. Alright, I’m back for a night break. This is Bibleline and we’re coming to you live from Tampa, Florida from our studios here at the Calvary Community Church. And we hope that you will tune us in each and every day. And of course, if you want to do it at a more convenient time for yourself, you can go to the Internet Bibleline Ministries.org and click on the Spinning Globe and you’ll get our radio programs anytime of day or night.
And a lot of people tell me they listen in the evening after they get home from work. They shower, they have their dinner, they get their Bible out, get their computer going, and they listen to the Bibleline and they like the fact that they can pause, fast-forward, back it up and really take time to study, which is really wonderful. So check that out. And also, Bibleline is list you’re supported. We need your support, especially here in the summer. Could you help us this month?
We really are living in a time when not only is the economy tightening up, but we’re in the summer months when usually traditionally giving us slower. And you could really help us here get through the summer. Would you call maybe and give a gift by credit card over the phone or call and ask for an an envelope to be sent with our address on it and mail your gift in. Or go to the internet to our online book store and there’s a place to give there to Bible and I hope you’ll keep us going in your area and be a partner with us to keep Bible and going on the air.
We’re going to go to the phone lines. We have Diana and she’s in Chilicot, Ohio and welcome to Bibleline Diana. You’re on the line. Okay. Okay, do you have a question? Yes, what I would like to know is how would you respond to a person that says Jesus is not perfect, he drank wine. Well, obviously he didn’t get drunk. And the Bible doesn’t forbid drinking wine. The Bible says that Ephesians 5, 18 be not drunk with wine, wearing his excess.
So, and the wine that they drank in those days was very, very mild. It’s not like the wine you find in your grocery store today. And it was a mild wine. And it was obviously a way of taking care of water that was maybe sometimes impure instead of getting Pharaoh’s revenge. A little bit of wine would kill the bacteria and you wouldn’t get dysentery. And so it’s healthy. In fact, even Paul wrote to Timothy in 1 Timothy 3 and says, take a little wine for your often stomach infirmities, so he has the stomach problems and the wine would kill the bacteria and it was healthy.
But they were not forbidden to drink wine but forbidden to get drunk. Today I think they brew wine and alcohol for people to get drunk and that’s a different ball game and the Bible forbids drunkenness. So Jesus never ever sinned. Yeah, why knew that? But I kind of went along that line with this person that had said this to me, but I just want someone else’s opinion on it. I hope that helps a little bit. Give me a minute.
How are you hearing us, Diana? Are you listening on the internet or on the radio? On the radio. Beautiful. I’m aware. What station are you listening to? W E M M out of Huntington, West Virginia. Oh, look at that. Wonderful. Well, thank you for calling in, Diana. Thank you, very much. All right. Virginia that’s bleeding over there into Ohio. All right, we’re going to now go to Lou in Tampa, Florida and Lou, welcome to Bible Eye and You’re on the air.
Dr. Hact, this is Lou from Tampa. How are you? All right, Lou. Good to hear you. Good to talk to you. Listen, I’ll ask the question and hang up so I can listen. I’ve got a couple of people wanting to hear it. Jeremiah says that if you seek him with all your heart, you will know him. He said that there was another verse where God wouldn’t take your life before he allowed you to find him. What verse is that?
That’s in the book of Job in the 33rd chapter. It talks about God keeping you alive through war, battle or disease until a messenger can get the message of the gospel to you. If you’re seeking, they’re keeping you alive until you hear it so that you’ll get saved before you die. It’s a wonderful promise, Job 33. Job 33. Okay. Thank you, Dr. Hank. I appreciate it. You’re very welcome. Thank you, Lou, for calling in. We have Keith in Jacksonville, Florida and Keith.
Welcome to Bibleline. Hey, Dr. Hank, praise God for the grace. Amen. and by the side of the field praise jesus i got a question about all i was wondering if he was married or not if you could tell me some about uh… the fair c’s at that time well paul was married and he was widowed and then he chose to remain single and uh… uh… if you read the second karenthians uh… uh… there’s a couple of chapters that talk about his experiences and he shares how that he was widowed and he had a wife.
And Peter also was married by the way. Jesus healed Peter’s mother-in-law and obviously you can’t have a mother-in-law unless you have a wife. So Peter was married also. I think all of them were. But he apparently was widowed. His wife died and fell at Paul chose to keep the rest of his life unmarried. And that was in 1st Corinthians, you say? I believe so. I think it’s what is it? It’s chapter… Well, I forget the chapter right now, but it’s 2nd Corinthians, I think, chapter 8 or 9 somewhere in there.
I think it might be chapter 11. I’ll have to think about that and come back to you with the exact chapter, but there’s a couple of chapters where Paul recounts his experiences and he talks about how he had have been married. Yes. Thanks a lot Dr. Hain. Okay. Thank you for calling in. Earlier we had Bob and I want to just say a word about repentance again. Everybody has to repent to be saved but it doesn’t mean turn from sin.
It doesn’t mean sorrow for sin. It means to change your mind. And obviously the lost were told to change your mind about Christ. If you read what Peter said next to and it was one of the places that Bob had referenced, he preached there to a crowd that had crucified Christ because he thought he was an imposter, a fraud, and what happened was that when he showed them convincingly that Christ was indeed the true Messiah because he came back from the dead, they said, what should we do?
And Peter said repent, or the Greek word means to change your mind. So they were to simply change their mind. And every time a person puts their trust in Christ, they do change their mind. So in other words, when you do believe, you do change your mind. So Dr. Schofield in his note says, saving faith includes and implies that change of mind, which is called repentance. That can never be repeated in Hebrews 6 and verse 4 through 6. It says that if you were to get away from the Lord, it’s impossible to go back and be renewed under repentance because that would involve you crucifying Christ all over again to yourself and put Him to an open chain.
You’re saved once and for all forever by the one time sacrifice of Jesus Christ. And once you trust Him, you are saved forever. So hopefully that helps. We don’t have Carl in Tampa, Florida and Carl, welcome to Bibleline your own ear. Hi. Yeah, Dr. Hank. I hear sometimes I heard it like yesterday somebody preaching that. And they talk about looped. excuse me, in Revelations 3 16, where it talks about being Luke warm, and it’s rather happy, how to cope, but if you’re Luke warm, I’ll just view you up, and I looked it up and I found that that’s also in Luke warm, and one of the other places is three other places in the Old Testament, and I’m trying to find out what what would that mean in me, but somehow I don’t feel that that refers, because that would mean that even after you’re saying that you can be spewed
But could you explain to me what that means? It’s in Revelation chapter 3. What he’s talking about is Christians being spewed out as far as service is concerned. Each of the seven churches were a lamp or a lamp stand and they were a light in this world. And you can’t lose your salvation. That’s not what he was referring to. But he said that he would take away their privilege to be a light in the world and remove that candlestick from them.
So it’s talking about loss of service, not loss of salvation. And it’s very clear that he’s talking to believers because he talks about in verse 19 about The Chasing. Those whom he loves, we know he only chases believers. And then he talks about fellowship in chapter 3 verse 20 to the church there related to see if. So it’s not talking about losing salvation. Basically he’s saying, because you’re neither hot nor cold, but Lukewarm, you make me nauseous. I want to vomit is what he’s saying.
He wants to throw up and he’s obviously just pleased with the lukewarm church which pictures our church today. Our church is a lukewarm church and it kind of rides the middle of the road and it’s either hot nor is it cold and Christ becomes nauseous when he thinks about that. Obviously he’s going to take us out in this age and our opportunity to witness will be over and will then be with the Lord. have to give an account and he counsels them to have rewards in heaven if they would only serve him.
He reads verse 18 in that chapter. He’s talking about service and rewards and gold tribe in the fire which comes about by serving the Lord. I hope that helps and thank you for that call. Carl, we now have Mike in Bradenton, Florida and Mike, welcome to by one year on the air mike are you there go ahead back and yes sir uh… good morning to you long-time listener and big fan well thank you uh… dr hank i want to talk to you a little bit about this repented thing i’ve been listening to you for years and years my take on to just believing is not enough mean the devil believes in it demons believe in Well you have to go back to that chapter in two of James and he’s talking there about believers giving account at the Judge of the State of Christ and he warns that the demons
also believe and in the context he’s talking about they believe they’re going to have to give an account one day. And when they stand before the Lord at the Great White Throne Judgment the Bible actually says that you and I as believers will be there and have a part of their judgment and to meet out the degree of punishment they’ll be uh… having when they’re cast into hell so in other words in in in period trembling they realizes that they have accountability for them for the deeds that they have performed while they were uh…
uh… demons here on the surface of the they believe in that coming judgment and uh… james is really telling believers wake up here and you need to realize to be as smart as demons are that you’re going to give an account one day and uh… you’re going to have to uh… uh… space a judgment and it will be determined then the degree of reward or loss of reward you receive in heaven has nothing to do with demons being saved or already lost already condemned the hell but they do believe that there’s a day when their works will be judged and that’s what james two nineteen is talking about but they know to the devil is not i agree with you cannot lose your salvation i think it is a uh…
example of it’s a false convert there are many people that are deceived just because they say okay well i believe in jesus i believe in kite well the word though the problem is that the word believe it can mean mental ascent the greek word doesn’t mean that the greek word is bestow p i s t u o and it means trust is the best english word to rely upon to put your confidence in the rest your way to pon uh…
prior to my salvation i was raised in a false church but i was taught that jesus uh… died on the cross of Calvary. I didn’t deny that. I was taught he died to paper sins. I didn’t deny that. I was taught that he was buried and I didn’t deny that. I taught he came back, was taught that he came back from the dead. I didn’t deny that. But I had never been taught, but I had the trust that he did that for me.
And so Christ died. That’s a history fact. And I acknowledge the historical facts about the life of Christ and was not saved. But when I understood that he did it for me and that I had to trust what Christ had done for me and that’s what brings about salvation, then I trusted Christ as my very own Savior and as a result I became saved. And so you have a lot of people that say I believe. And this is the problem with the cults.
Every Jehovah’s Witness you talk to, if you ask them do you believe in Jesus Christ, we’ll say yes. And that might send you a wrong signal and you’ll say, well, wow, they believe in Jesus, just like I do. No, they don’t. The Jones witness, if you ask them the question, do you trust in Jesus Christ to take you to heaven, they’ll say no. The average Roman Catholic will say, do you believe in Jesus Christ? They’ll say yes, absolutely. They believe in Jesus Christ.
But do you ask a Roman Catholic, are you trusting Christ as your only means of reaching heaven, they’ll say no, because the Roman Catholic is not to trust the church. And so they really don’t trust Christ. They believe the historical facts about Christ. But they don’t trust Him. So the big question you have to ask whenever you’re witnessing is have you trusted Christ as your Savior. And that is what the Greek word, postuos, means. It means to trust, rely upon, to put your confidence in the rest your weight upon.
And so most people get confused when you’re witnessing because a lot of people will say, sure, I believe in Jesus, but they believe in Jesus like they believe in George W Washington. Washington. They believe that he was born and lived on his life and they believe the history concerning his life and that he died. But believing the historical facts about George Washington and or believing the historical facts about the life of Christ and about Savior, you must personally trust Jesus as your Savior in order to be saved.
I agree with that, Doctor. But I’m not going to like a parachute. You can trust in a parachute. But unless you put it on, it’s not going to save your life. And I don’t see how you can put the Lord Jesus on without there being a change in your life. And I just don’t want people to get the, you know, the confession that, you know, as long as I trust what I did, I can just keep doing whatever I’m going to do because if there is no fruit, if there is no evidence, how do you think?
This evidence thing is a really bad teaching. You know, the fact is, as a believer, your life can go in a negative direction. There are scores of examples in the Bible a lot that chose to go to live in Sodom and his life was a mess. And yet Peter describes him as a righteous man, not because of his deeds, but because of his faith in Christ. And so throughout the Bible, if you read the Corinthian letters, these people were living in adultery, they were living in fornication, they were extorting one another, they were involved in all kinds of open sin.
And the Bible warned about how that they would have the Lord chasing them or discipline them and that they would suffer the loss of reward when they stood before the Lord in heaven. But they were saved even though their lives went in a negative direction. To say that your life has to change in a positive way is not true. You have a choice. Even Jonah ran from the Lord and from his responsibilities. And nobody knew that Jonah was a missionary, that he was God’s prophet when he was on that ship and the ship almost sank and all those people on board almost drowned because of Jonah’s disobedience.
But he was still saved and the Lord disciplined him and brought him to the place where he decided, okay Lord, I’ll go and do what you want me to do. He actually wound up dying in the Fish’s belly, being resurrected from the dead. And finally Jonah submitted and went to Nineveh and preached and had such great results there. But throughout the Bible you have people that choose to do wrong. And many of the heroes of the Bible did wrong.
Moses committed murder. David committed murder and adultery. And you can read all the way through even the Apostle Paul had committed murder and hailing Christians into prison and having them killed. And then of course he became saved. many of them while they were already saved, committed to these kinds of sins. So obviously there’s nothing that says you have to change. In fact, the only thing that changes is the conditions. When it talks about in 2 Corinthians 5, 17, if any man be in Christ, he’s a new creature, he’s born again.
When it says old things are passed away, it’s not talking about your lifestyle, because many times a person’s life has not changed after they’re saved. saved, but the conditions that were true prior to the salvation have changed and now behold all brand new conditions exist. If you read the context there in chapters, those chapters around that in chapter 3, 4, and 5, and 6 in 2 Corinthians, it talks about before you saved your lost, now you’re saved. You were headed for hell, now you’re headed for heaven.
You were a child of Satan, now you’re a child of God. You were lost, but now you’re found. You were under the law, but now you’re under grace. And so all these conditions and there are dozens and dozens of brand new conditions that exist. And now it’s your choice to make a second decision to live for Christ. And hopefully every believer would choose to do that, but not all of them will. In fact, I think most Christians choose not to live for Christ.
And that’s sad. If every Christian would get on the ball for Christ, we could tear this world up. And I think evangelize the whole world, but very few Christians are living for Christ. That’s unfortunate, but it doesn’t mean that they’re not saved, but they are obviously going to suffer loss of reward one day. And the Bible tells us, and here’s a great verse you ought to mark down. In 1 Corinthians 3.15 at the Judgment’s Inn of Christ, it gives a scenario that even You may not have had anything in your life that you did that was worthy of reward.
Have all your works burned up and yet you would still be saved. It says, if any man’s works shall be burned, he shall suffer loss, loss of reward, but he himself shall be saved yet so as by fire. So you might have every work that you did burnt up because it was not glorifying to God. And yet it says you’d still be saved. First Corinthians 3 and 15. Take a look at that one. Thank you, Mike. And I appreciate that.
that call but we don’t have a license to sin but definitely our salvation has nothing to do with changing our life. In fact the Bible doesn’t say anything about changing our life. It says we need a brand new life. We have to be born again to be saved. We’re going now to Carol in Richmond, Virginia and Carol, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Thank you. Okay, Carol do you have a question? Yes, my question is this, I heard a fish up creature about angels in heaven and he said according to the Bible it’s open male angels.
I wanted to know when the Bible is best true and when the Bible does it says all angels are male and not women. All right, that’s a good question. You know God created angels and he did not create a male and female and every time he And I see an angel appearing in the Bible, they always appear in the masculine form. Gabriel appeared as a man. Michael, the archangel, appears as a man. The angels that went to destroy Sodom appeared as men.
They didn’t have wings. In fact, the men of Sodom came out and lusted after them and wanted to rape them because they just looked like men. If they had known that they were angels, they wouldn’t have tried to do that, but they thought they were just men. And the Bible says angels don’t marry and they don’t have children. And so there’s no such thing as baby angels either. So the angels of the Bible are all male and yet a lot of people have angel collections and they’re all female.
And whatever they’re collecting is not angels because the angels of the Bible you’ll never find anywhere an angel in the Bible in a feminine form. They’re always appear as male form. Hope that helps, Carol. So the bishop was right? He’s right. He’s right on. There are no female angels. Oh, thank you very, very much. That’s my question. God bless. Thank you, Carol. And now we’re going to go to Norman down in Miami, Florida, and Norman. Welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air.
Yes, I was calling, I had a question that I know, but I was wondering if you could give Give me an explanation of Galatians 2001, which says NBA murderers, ruckinets, the rivers, revivals, and such like this, I tell you before that. And I have also told you that they do these things. You’re not a heir to kingdom of God. And I’ll hang up and I’ll listen to that for that. Paul is talking here about any of those sins that are listed there could send someone to hell, but he goes on to verse 24 and he says, you have crucified the flesh through Christ.
In Galatians 2.21, the same thing, he says, I’m crucified together with Christ, nevertheless I live. Once you’ve trusted Christ, God sees you as though you were on the cross in Jesus and that you died to pay for those sins by your death in Christ as he died in your place as your subsidiary payment. So the consequences of the penalty of sin and death will not apply to the believer. But he’s telling believers not to have those kinds of works in their life which obviously will bring strife and problems and sorrow and so on and lack of reward in heaven.
He tells us that we should have the fruit of the Spirit, verse 22 and 23, tells us that we should yield ourselves to the Spirit of God and we’ll have love, and joy, and peace, and love, suffering, and gentleness, and meekness. All the fruits of the Spirit will be manifest in the person’s life. A better passage to look at, Norman, is 1 Corinthians 6, 9 and 10 list those same things, And then it says, rather clearly, I think better than Galatians says it in verse 11, and such were some of you, but you are washed, you are justified, you are sanctified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.
So even though you may have committed those crimes in your life, when you trust Christ, you become washed. The same answer is in Galatians 5, 24, if you read that verse, you’ve been crucified with Christ and the affections of your flesh have been crucified with Him on the cross when you trust Him as your Savior, so you’re saved. But you can still have those kinds of fruit or works in your life which obviously are not going to be rewarded and will cause you grief.
We’re now going to go to James, in St. Petersburg and James, welcome to Bibleline. You’re on the air. Hi, I’d like to ask a question. How do you consider this wealth, wealth, and faces that many seminary states that educate preachers? Well, that’s really applying evolution to the Bible, and that’s nonsense. God is the author of scripture, and the Bible didn’t evolve over time by men progressing into the Bible. and their ideas about who God is and what He did.
From the get-go, the Bible presents a majestic God who created the universe. In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. And you see right on out that He never was just a tribal God who then expanded out to become a universal God. He was the universal God for the beginning as He created the heavens and the earth. So the Willhausen theory is phony baloney. It’s trying to apply human reason and try to think that God was not the author, but men were the authors of the Bible.
Thank you, James. I hope that helps. We’re out of time. Again, let me remind you as listeners that Bibleline is supported.
