We have some great stuff in our resource center. We have a terrific A booklet by Dr. Charles Swindall on divorce and remarriage. I think it’s seven dollars. And that really is the best presentation I’ve ever seen on the topic, giving you the different scenarios and covering what the scripture says. That’s a good one. Divorce and remarriage by Chuck Swindall. We also have the Schofield Bible in Spanish and in English. We have the 1909-1917 edition which is what you want.
The newer ones have been watered down and the notes have been changed and they’re inferior in my opinion. So I would hope that you’d be at the old school field which is the only one that we offer here at Bibleline. If you’d like to call in again that number is 1-800-576-3771. I hope you’ll give us a call. We’re going to open our Bibles to Roman rather John’s Gospel chapter 8, John’s Gospel chapter 8. And it’s interesting that people get confused and sometimes the confusion is caused by preachers who don’t rightly divide the word of truth.
And we know that lordship salvation comes up which has to do with the Christian life, not about salvation. To try to say that you must submit yourself to the Lordship of Christ to be saved is not correct. You simply trust Christ to be saved and then you make a decision to become a disciple which is where you submit yourself to the Lordship of Christ. Let me give you an example. If you have your Bible open to John’s Gospel we have a group here of unsaved people that are listening to Jesus and Jesus says to them in verse 24, I said therefore unto you that you shall die in your sins, for if you believe not that I am, you shall die in your sins.
What he’s saying here is that he’s God. He says here that he is I am. That’s the divine title that God used back in the book of Exodus when he appeared to Moses at the burning bush and when Moses asked God his name he said my name is I am. Well Jesus is claiming to be the very God that appeared to Abraham and Isaac and Jacob that at the burning bush appeared to Moses and this is who Jesus is claiming to be.
Not just a man but he is God in flesh the Savior. Then of course he goes on in this discussion and in verse 30 of John chapter 8 it says, and as he spoke these words, many believed on him. If you’re marking your Bible, look at that phrase, many believed on him. They got saved. They believe. Of course the Greek word here is bestuo, P-I-S-T-E-U-O, and it really means best to trust. The Greek word means to trust, to rely upon, to put your confidence in, to rest your weight upon, and when you trust Christ, that’s when you become saved.
The English word believe can mean a sent to historical facts, but that doesn’t save. You have to trust Christ that He died for you and shed His blood and was buried in rose again from the dead to be saved. That’s the Gospel message. So we find here that as he spake these words, many believed on him. But are you ready now for a lesson in rightly dividing the word of truth? If you will look carefully here with me, it says in verse 31 of John chapter 8, then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him.
Notice a group believed on him in verse 30, they got saved, they trusted him, and then he He now addresses his message to those that believed on him and he says, if you continue, if you continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed? Then say you’re saved. They were saved when they believed on him. Earlier in John’s Gospel, Jesus says in John 647, barely, verily I say unto you, he that believeth on me has everlasting life. So when you believe on Christ or trust on Christ as your Savior, you possess everlasting life at that very moment and forever thereafter.
But then he addresses those that had believed on him and he says, if you, those who had believed on him, those that had just gotten saved, if you continue in my word, then are you my disciples indeed. So there’s a vast difference between being saved and being in disciple. To be a believer, you simply come to Christ and trust Him as the one who died on the cross to pay for your sins. To be a disciple, you have to follow Christ and live for Christ, and that has to do with the Christian life.
And that is really a totally separate decision and a totally separate event. I became saved when I trusted Christ as Savior at 18. It was about a year later that I chose to continue and to follow Christ and to live for Him. and I became a disciple about a year later. And we find that usually there is a time interval between somebody getting saved and making that decision to live for Christ and serve Christ. But salvation is a gift and it has nothing to do with you continuing.
The Bible says that the moment you believe you’re passed from death unto life, John 524, we find that the moment you believe you possess everlasting life, John 647. At the moment you believe God says that you will never go to hell. John 524 and John 1028. At the moment you believe God promises that no one will be able to pluck you out of his hand. You are saved and secure and your salvation is settled and you’re going to go to heaven no matter what.
The moment you trust Christ you receive eternal life which is irreversible. Now the Christian life is another ball game. And Christ speaks to those that had gotten saved, that believed on him in John 8.30. He in verse 31, he addresses them, and he says to those that believe on him, if you continue in my word, then are you my disciples. Well, let’s go over to Mark chapter eight, where we have a discussion here, where here he is saying to those disciples, in verse 34, Whosoever will come after me.
That has to do with discipleship. A tip off is when you’re rightly dividing. When you look for the phrase, come to that salvation. You simply come to Christ to be saved. Matthew 11, 28, come unto me, all you that labor and are heavy laden and I’ll give you rest. All you have to do is come to Christ and trust Him as your Savior and you become saved. But here it says, whosoever will come after me. That has to do with the Christian life.
That has to do with what is required to become a disciple. And it says, whosoever will come after me, let him notice deny himself and take of his Sinnoh cross and follow me. Those are all conditions for the Christian life. And in this wonderful passage it talks about in verse 35, whosoever will save his life shall lose it, but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospels the same shall save it. What it’s talking about here is what are you going to do with your Christian life that you have once you get saved?
If you spend it for yourself, your life, that is, then you will have lost it because you will have lost the value you could have had you used it for Christ. If you live for Christ, there are eternal rewards that can be earned. There are treasures in heaven that we can lay up as we do things for the Lord. Jesus said in Matthew 6, don’t lay up for yourselves treasures here on the earth, where thieves break through and steal and rust, corrupts it and so on.
He says, lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven. The way we lay up treasures in heaven is by investing now in this life of our time and our talents and our treasures for the Lord. And as we invest now things for the Lord, we find in heaven will have treasures in heaven. So it says here that if you will save or in other words spend your life for yourself you will have lost it when you stand before the Lord and you’ll have nothing to show no rewards in heaven.
But whosoever will in a sense the world would say lose your life or spend your life for my sake and for the gospels. That means you’re You’re going to let your life be used for Christ. The same shall save it. In other words, your life will count for something. When you die and stand before the Lord one day as a believer, if you have done nothing here, in a sense your life has been forfeited or lost. It has no value in heaven.
There are no rewards, no treasures laid up. But if you serve the Lord here, And live for him every day. You’re laying up treasures in heaven and you will have saved your life or invested your life. And the rewards will come as a result. Verse 36 goes on to say, what shall it profit a man? Let me just say a word about the word profit because salvation is not in view here. Wherever you look in the Bible without exception, you’ll never find an exception.
Salvation is always presented as being the gift of God. In Romans 623 it says the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. The gift of God, Ephesians 2 8, it says salvation is by grace and it is the gift of God, Ephesians 2 8. In Romans 5 it mentions about six times that it’s the free gift. It’s a free gift purchased by Christ’s death atOSPE, but offer to you and me free when we trust Jesus as our Savior.
When you talk about profit, you’re talking about something that is deserved, something that is earned, and is talking about rewards. And here Jesus is saying in Matthew, excuse me, Mark chapter 8 verse 36, for what shall it profit a man if he should gain the whole world and lose his own soul? It’s not talking about going to hell here or losing your salvation. It’s talking about the word soul there really should be translated in life. In other words, losing or not using or not having the full reward you could have had for spending your life for Christ’s sake.
In other words, if you were to become the richest man in the world, the most powerful man in the world, the most influential man in the world, if you had gained really in a sense the whole world, really was yours and you got all that. What profit will you have in heaven? Because the only way you can have profit in heaven, the only way you can have rewards in heaven is by using your life here for Christ. But if you use your life here for self and even if you were to gain the whole world, you would lose that at death because you can’t take it with you.
I’ve never yet seen a U-Haul behind a hearse. Everybody leaves all their treasures, their earthly treasures here. You can’t take it with you, but you can send treasures ahead by living for Christ. That’s what it’s talking about here. And so it’s talking about what would you exchange for your life? Will it be earthly riches, earthly fame, earthly treasures? Is that what you’re looking for? Well then that will be your reward. But if you’re looking to serve the Lord, you’ll have eternal treasures, eternal rewards, and God will bless you forever for your faithfulness here.
I’m Dr. Hank Lindstrom. This is Bibleline. We’re going to go to the phone lines. We have all of our lines lined up. We’re going to go first to St. Petersburg, and we’re going to talk to Angel. Angel, welcome to Bibleline. You’re on the air. Hey, thank you to Lane Joel Ginn. You know, I just want to say, you know, you have blessings. I mean, I really learned a lot from the show here and my question here is that they had some interesting point sometimes that they bring up and that Sometimes theologically I’m not able to sort it out my mind.
You know before God created Even Satan Lucifer. He knew that and that’s what you agreed with that Absolutely God knows the future he is obviously not bound by time, but he doesn’t know the future because he made it happen. Some things that God has predetermined, yes, but otherwise he has not made your choice for you, nor did he make Satan’s choice for him. He foresaw it, but he didn’t know it in advance because he determined it would be that way.
that way so i’ve got come to that you know to the people on the floor of the product everything well now when and up maybe it’s just got just being a relational god with us but when he said that he repents repents that he made an animal face of birth we know it’s not really repenting just regretting but if you really regretting because he knew before the foundation of the world that that would happen i mean you understand what i’m saying here he is saying that he repented but he already planned the letter continue because he planned the Jesus to come into the world before the foundation of the world.
But here he was going to ruin the world, but he found favor and nullize. Well absolutely, you know, God was very disturbed by that. Of course he knew it was going to happen, but it did grieve him very deeply that man would turn his back on him and his love. You know, in John 3 16 when it says, For God’s the Love of the World, you know, everybody It’s a member of the human race is going to go to hell.
That’s… What is already determined because they have a sin nature and they sin and the penalty for sin is death But what God did was provide a way of rescue a Savior for everyone and potentially everybody could go to heaven and that was God’s intention But it grieves him when men reject his love and reject his offer of salvation through Christ and and go and the Bible says that Christ is the only way to heaven He’s the way the truth to life and no man can come into the father but by him But the Bible warns that what sin is all about is that man goes his own way in Isaiah 53 6 This is always like sheep of God astray.
We have turned everyone to his own way and that means our plan of salvation our means of going to heaven rather than the one that God devised which is through Christ and And price is the only way to heaven. And if you miss that, you’re not going to make it, for sure. Right. Right. Well, okay. So, I’m trying to get it fixed straightened out in my mind here. So, before the foundation of the world, before he even created it, created it, Lucifer knowing at that time that, you know, he would have been grieved with man, he was the one.
Absolutely. And it’s at the same time that he also then made the provision. before the foundations of the world that in God’s design and plan Christ was slain. It says in 1 Peter chapter 1 that Jesus was actually slain before the foundations of the world. It got it already devised the plan of redemption for man who would go his own direction that all that would believe on him would be saved, that no one would be excluded. Anyone and everyone could come and simply trust Christ and be saved.
Okay. Now just one more, I’m sorry. Yesterday I just heard something being mentioned that all that the Father gives me will come to me. Now, because the Calvinist’s Calvinist will use that and so here’s a prime example that you know, got Jesus from and for heaven, like God has given Jesus a specific amount and although that God’s given Jesus, Jesus will have them come from them basically. I’m not seeing it that way, I’m just seeing God with the foreknowledge see all those who would partake of Christ, well those who would partake of Christ, those who have predestined to be conformed to the image of the fun.
So I’m just thinking that this particular verse is speaking about the song. Well, it is talking about God’s sovereignty and God’s sovereignty. God, before the foundation of the world, chose to save all that would believe and chose not to save all those that would not believe. Deil Moody had a way of simplifying things and he said the Whosoever wills are the elect and the Whosoever won’ts are the non-elect. So God has chosen to save all that would believe and if you don’t believe then you will not be in that group called the elect or the chosen.
So God foreknew that there would be those who would reject him and there would be those that would receive him, but he chose to save all that would believe. And those that believe he gives them to Christ and then he promises that they would never be cast out for any reason or ever be lost. Okay, on my handgut I’m at the obisitive and I’m going to listen to you on the radio. I have a Calvin friend. This is what he says.
He says, there’s God hate everybody. And you know, you know, the typical response is that, you know, God loves everybody for God’s own love the will, but he builds the East all, you know, for Jacob, I love the will, but he saw, I hate it. If you can explain that, I’m scared to hang out. I’ll sure do that. Thank you so much, Angel, for that call. You know, in Romans, when it discusses that in chapter 9 of Romans, you find there that it quotes that passage, but that’s quoted from Malachi, and that’s at the end of the Old Testament age, hundreds and hundreds of years after Esau was dead.
So it wasn’t that he before the foundation of the world hated Esau, but rather because Esau did reject Christ and because he refused the plan of salvation and did not accept God’s provision. Therefore, he stood before God in his sin and obviously was therefore hated. And his descendants did the same thing. This was very much a sad thing for God. And God had great displeasure with that. So Esau and his descendants all went a direction away from God. And they rejected his provision and therefore were lost.
And if you die without craze then yes. You will have God’s wrath come upon you forever and ever and ever. Second The embroiled in this quite interesting passage in chapter 1 verse 8 where it says Christ, when it comes back, comes back in flaming fire, taking vengeance on those that do not know God and have not obeyed the gospel, that have not believed on Christ. And they’ll be punished forever in hell. And I hope that has helped and thank you for that call.
I’m Dr. Hank Lindstrom. We’re at the end of this first half hour. and then we’re going to go to a break and come back. Let me again remind you that we’re in August and we really could help use your help. We are short here during the summer and we could use your help to make sure that we come out of August on our feet with all of our bills paid. Would you consider giving a gift to Bibleline? You could call and give it by credit card over the phone or you could call it as for an envelope to be sent and mail a gift in.
We’re really not trying to get your money. We don’t pay any salaries here, but we do want to continue to give the gospel out. And the only way that’s possible is through you are listeners who pray for us and give to us. And God bless and thank all of you who do give and pray for Bible and you’re the ones that are the ones that keep it going. God bless you. We’re going to take that breakdown and come back and do a second half hour.
So I hope you’ll keep your radio right where it’s at and we’ll be right back in just a moment to do a second half hour of Bible and I’m Dr. Eggman. It will be right back. Go away Bibleline will be back in a moment. To pledge your support for Bibleline, give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Well, I’m Dr. Englund. It’s great to be with you. It’s Wednesday and we’re coming to you live from Tampa, Florida from our studios right here at the Calvary Community Church in Tampa.
Please come by and see us if you ever come into the Tampa Bay area and if you cannot, you can visit our worship services online. You can listen to our radio programs online. You can watch our television programs online. You can visit our resource center online. Check it out at BibleLineMinistries.org. BibleLineMinistries.org. We are so excited about what God is doing through Bibleline. We hear of people getting saved all the time. I had several distances past week tell me, I got saved by listening to Bible.
One fella said three years ago I got saved by listening to Bible. And now all of a sudden his Christian life is beginning to grow. I had a couple come by that are beginning to work with the youth in their church. And they were so excited about how they really understood the gospel through Bibleline. And with great emotion, they just say how exciting it is to be able to share this with the teens in their church and see them come to know the truth, which they said they never apparently heard or understood that they just needed somebody to bring the message to them.
These are exciting things and certainly make me encouraged to know that we’re helping people not only to be saved but also how to communicate that with others, including their family, but also as they work in a ministry within the church where they try to reach out to their friends and neighbors and business associates, they can lead people to Christ. It’s great. Bibleline is listener supported and I really do hate to talk about money and if I didn’t have to I wouldn’t probably bring it up but that’s not God’s plan.
He wants us to partner together. This is an opportunity. If you don’t give, God will raise up somebody else who will and they’re the one that’s going to get the blessing. They’re the ones going to get the reward and you’ll be cheated out of that. When I understood that, it made all the difference in the world for me. I realized, wow, you know, if I withhold, if I don’t give, then God will use somebody else and they’re going to get the reward.
They’re going to get the blessings. And I believe you’ll be rewarded richly for supporting Bible and because of what God is doing through the Bible and programs. Would you consider calling and giving a gift to Bible and today? I believe that God will richly bless you for that and we could certainly use your help. We’re going to rejoin the station sound that have been on break into a second half hour and I hope you keep that radio right Where it is because here we go part two Help by the line continue in your area you can just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3771 that’s 1-800-576-3771 Now here again is Dr.
Hank Lindstrom Alright we’re back from that break and it’s exciting to be with you It’s Wednesday. We’re coming to you live from Tampa, Florida, from our studios right here at the Calvary Community Church when I’m the pastor. And you’re always welcome to come by and visit our resource center. We’re open every day until about 4.30. And you’re always welcome to come by and visit during a worship service. And we just are excited about getting people saved. We had a bunch of people get saved Sunday during our worship service.
And we hear of people every day that are getting saved through Bibleline and through the ministries of Bibleline. We’re excited about what God is doing. Hope you are too. Check out our website, BibleLineMinistries.org. You can listen to our radio program live right now. It’s a stream to the internet. You can catch it later in archive. I write up a little summary of what I talked about at the beginning of the program on each program. program so you can scroll through all of those and you can see, wow that’s the program on a here or that’s the topic I’d like to hear discussed and you can find the program that would be the one that would help you.
Also our Sunday sermons are sitting there on the internet, a years worth. You can scroll through the titles and maybe see a title of a message that you would like to hear. So there’s a whole year’s worth of sermons that you can watch and listen to on the Internet. And I hope you will. You’re going to find that I think there’ll be a great benefit to you. Plus our resource center is there and if you want to give to Bibleline, there’s a place on our online bookstore to do that as well.
And by the way we are listeners supported. We are in the summertime and summertime is traditionally slower than the rest of the year but with our economy and different things. This has been a little slower than normal. We could use your help right now. Would you be willing to pray for Bibleline and would you be willing to give a gift to Bibleline? If I didn’t have to, I wouldn’t talk about money probably, but I know that’s not God’s plan.
God wants you to be able to invest wisely in things that are eternal. And I believe Bibleline is that kind of investment. You know, if you don’t give, God would raise up somebody else and they’re going to get the reward, they’re going to get the blessing and you’ll not get it. Sometimes that’s the way it works out. And when I understood that I said, wow, I want the blessing. I want the reward. I want to give where it’s going to pay off, where souls are being saved and people are being challenged and people are going into ministry.
And I just had a couple come by yesterday. husband did the wife didn’t but they talked to the wife on the phone and they both are in ministry in their church and they’re so excited because they really got it clear from Bibleline and it seems to be the program that steers them as they are motivated to win teenagers to Christ in their youth program where God has now raised them up to do that. We hear these kind of stories all the time and It’s wonderful to see what God is doing.
And if you want to help us out, this would be a great time. We’re wanting to come out on our feet with no bills. Hit the end of August, and we really could use your help at this time. Would you consider calling and giving a gift by credit card over the phone today? Or maybe calling and asking for an envelope to be sent to you in mail your gift in. It would really help us. And I want to thank you in advance.
God bless all of you who pray and give. This is a really a miracle of the Lord every day. We see the Lord provide. And he obviously uses you, the listener, to do that. And what I’m listening to is the partner together like that so we can get this message out to the world. All my phone lines are lighted up. We’re gonna try to move through these colors as quickly as we can. We have Dean in Tampa, Florida, and Dean, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air.
Yes, good morning Dr. Lister. Good morning. How are you this morning? Good. My question to you is exhortation. What is the gift of exhortation and where can I locate it in the Bible? Alright, it really means to encourage. And so if you have the ability to encourage somebody to like be a cheerleader and cheer them on and get them going, that’s what it’s really all about. I didn’t understand it for a long time. I guess it was because as a new believer I didn’t look up the words and see their meanings, but it really means an encourager.
And there are a number of verses where it tells us that we are to exhort. A lot of believers and as we exhort them we’re encouraging them to move forward and not to look back but to continue to grow in the things of the Lord. And obviously every believer I think has a ministry in encouraging people, but also some are more gifted in that area than others. And they’re just, I see the encourager as like a cheerleader, just saying, keep on keeping on and and kind of reminding you and me to do that.
Trying to think of a verse off hand and my mind has just gone blank, but there are numerous verses where it uses the word, exaltation, but it means encouragement and I hope that that will help you a little bit a little bit and I’ll try to think of a verse for the program as overdine. Okay. Thank you, Dean. Thank you. All right. That was Dean and Exorder is an encourager. We now have Marilyn. She’s in Largo, Florida and Margo, welcome to Bibleline.
Hi, Dr. Hank. Yes. I’ll list you. My question is, why don’t most churches recite the Apostles’ Creed and why doesn’t that appear in the Bible and where did it originate from? I’m going to hang up and listen to your answer. God bless you. Okay. Well, I don’t recite the Apostles Creed either. You know, it says in the Apostles Creed, which is a man-made creed somewhere after the fourth century. And different creeds have been made, but they seem to all have some kind of flaw.
It says in the Apostles Creed that Christ descended into hell. Well, that is certainly not true. Jesus, when He died. He tells us where he’s going to go. In Matthew 1240, he said he’d be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. And we know that prior to Calvary, paradise was in the heart of the earth. As well as the place where the lost would be in plain and torment, they’re still there, but paradise has been emptied out.
Remember what he told the thief on the cross that believed? He said, today thou shalt be with thee in paradise. At the same time he tells us he’d be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. Christ went down into the heart of the earth where paradise was and there he met the dying thief and all the Old Testament saints and he proclaimed victory that he had paid the sin that finally that they had been waiting for him to do and now that their sins were fully paid for he could take him up to heaven.
On the third day, Christ opened up paradise and removed it from the heart of the earth and is taking it to heaven. Now believers are absent from the body and present with the Lord. Second Corinthians 12, 2 and 3 tell us that paradise is now in heaven itself. So it’s no longer in the heart of the earth, but certainly Christ didn’t go to hell. There are those who, because I think of the Apostles Creed, and thinking that Christ went to hell, make up these crazy stories that Jesus for three days and three nights was battling with the demons and with Satan.
And after three days of hard fighting, finally Jesus gets a knockout blow on the devil and knocks him out and gets the victory and finally pays our sin to it. This is craziness because if you read your Bible carefully, every sin was fully paid for on the cross. When Jesus died, His final words were, it is finished. And that word is really one word in the Greek language and is to tell us died. It means paid in full. Full satisfaction received for the debt.
Jesus did not pay for one sin after He came off the cross. When Jesus died, immediately sin had been paid for by His death and He proclaimed that on the cross. Then he goes into the heart of the earth where the Old Testament saints were waiting because they couldn’t enter heaven yet because their sins really weren’t paid for. They had what I call a layaway salvation and as soon as Christ died he went down there and told them we have victory over sin, a paid for the sin debt and on the third day he took them up to heaven.
I hope that helps. So thank you for that call and we will now go to Matthew in the Spring Hill, Florida and Matthew, welcome to Bibleline Year on the Year. Hey, greetings on a one day morning Hank. Amen. I got a question in light of what you spoke on this morning. Can I hear what you have to say about Romans chapter 2 verses 6 through 8? And it says those who by patient seek for honor and glory will get eternal life and so on.
Right. What is talking about there and you just mentioned the key word there, the psalm at lost people that seek. And when they seek they will find the truth and become saved. And obviously it’s by believing the gospel, verse 16. And not only in chapter 2 but verse 16 of chapter 1, It’s the power of God to believe the gospel and you become saved. But you see a wonderful illustration of that in Acts chapter 10 where you have the Roman soldier Cornelius and he was a good man.
He prayed, he gave alms to the people and he was devout and so on and he was seeking. What happened was because he was seeking God of course had him contact Peter. came and led him and his family all to Christ. So that was really a beautiful story of a man. He was doing the best with what he knew and was seeking the truth, but he wasn’t saved because of any of the things he was doing. He was saved when he heard the gospel and he got saved.
Seek and you will find. Thanks, Hank. There you go. Thank you so much for that call. And by the way, I now have a few verses here on exhorting and it says here in Acts 240 they did testify and exhort Acts 27-22 and now I exhort you to be a good cheer and we find in the second Corinthians 9-5 therefore I thought it necessary to exhort the brethren and first thessalonians by 14 now we exhort you brother and it means encouragement and there’s dozens of verses I just had a few there that I wanted to share with you.
Thank you. We now have Billy down in Miami Florida and Billy welcome the Bible and you’re on the air. Hello. Hey Billy. You had a question? We’re on the air. Yes, okay. Thank you. What is your question? Yes, my question is, no first I would say good morning. and a lot better than your teaching. Thank you. I was just listening to the question called but you did answer that answer from oxygen 722 for to eggs art. Yes. I mean to That’s right· Okay.
Right. But my question for you is I’m in a Bible study and this Christian was arks. You must be baptized with water to enter the kingdom of God. And to, in my thinking about that I always say, and it was a two-way question. Well that is not true and if you’re thinking thinking about John 3 5 when you use that, it doesn’t say be baptized with water. It It says you must be born of water and of the Spirit, or you cannot enter the Kingdom of God.
The birth of water is the flesh birth which you already have, and the second birth is the new birth that occurs when you trust Christ, and that’s essential. If you don’t have that new birth, you’ll never go to heaven. But nowhere does the Bible ever say you have to be baptized with water to be saved. Okay, what about in in March is it Matthew 16 16 that’s mark 16 16 Yeah, he didn’t believe it in his baptized shall be saved, but he didn’t believe it’s not shall be damned I don’t believe that’s talking about water there.
You probably ought to Look online or call and ask for one of my articles about baptism There are ten different baptisms taught in the New Testament and and most of them are dry. And I believe that this baptism is talking about in Mark 16, 16 is the spirit baptism. You’ll notice in Mark 1 8 John the Baptist says, I indeed have baptized you with water. That’s clearly water baptism. But then it says he Christ shall baptize with the Holy Spirit.
And we don’t find water anymore in the book of Mark at all. When you get to chapter 16, Christ is already crucified He’s risen now from the dead and here after his resurrection, he’s instructing his disciples to go forth and preach the gospel to every creature verse 15. And then he says he to believe it and his baptized were cleansed or washed is going to be saved. And obviously since Christ is the one who’s speaking and he’s the one who cleanses or or washes you of your sin by his blood after you become saved.
I believe it’s the baptism that John talked about in Mark 1 8, the baptism of the Holy Spirit. He’s talking about not water. I hope that helps. I think you really enjoy one of my articles if you’ll call will send it to you for free and I also have a CD that covers all ten baptisms and explains them so that in the context you’ll know which is which because if you don’t read carefully a lot of people just automatically think water whenever they see the word baptize and that’s obviously going to leave the confusion because there are ten different baptisms taught in the New Testament and you have to read the context to make sure you know which one is talking about.
Right, right. What I’m up to is is necessary to write. Yes, but not to be saved. I just baptized a whole bunch of people, a couple of dozen on Sunday and they were giving testimony of how they were cleansed of their sin by the blood of Christ. The water was merely symbolic in ceremonial and every believer really ought to be water baptized as an act of obedience as a Christian. And there’s always a blessing whenever we’re obedient to the Lord, but it doesn’t save.
And obviously the dying thief that believed never was water baptized, but yet he was saved. Right. He obviously had no opportunity to get water baptized, but if you can, if you’re a believer and you have opportunity, I’ve had people get saved in the hospital near death and they didn’t have a chance to get water baptized, but I would assure them that they’re still going to go to heaven because water doesn’t save them. Right. Right. That’s right. I understand all of that.
That’s why was debating so that’s what I was saying. Good for you. My articles will help you and those are free. If you have internet access go to my website Bible about baptism and it’s all right there and you can read it and you’ll be armed to the teeth for the next time you get into that discussion. Yes, thank you very Okay Billy. You have a blessed day. You too. Bye bye. Billy. A lot of people want to try to put water into salvation and it’s not there.
We’re cleansed of our sin by the blood of Christ. I love that hymn. The hymn writer got it right. He said, what can wash away my sin? And the answer is what? Nothing but the blood. Nothing but the blood. Nothing but the blood. Not water. Nothing but the blood. Alright, we’re going to go now to Jonah. And not to Jonah, the Old Testament, but Jonah in Tampa. Jonah, welcome to Bibleline. I’m John the Earth. Hi, how you doing? Good.
I just had a question. I was reading through Exodus, and I came verse 24. It speaks of the Lord confronting Moses and seeking to put into death. And I didn’t understand that. I read it over a few times to see if there’s any reason for it. I didn’t find anything. Well, the reason is because Moses’s wife obviously was not with the program. She apparently would not allow Moses to circumcise his son. And because Moses was delinquent in that area, God was going to kill him.
And if you read what happens here, it says in verse 24, it came to pass by the way in in that the Lord met Moses and sought to kill him. And Zippur obviously knew what the problem was because it says Moses’ wife, Zippur, took a sharp stone and cut off the foreskin of her son and casted at Moses’ feet. And look at what her comment was. You can see her discussed. She said, surely a bloody husband now art to me.
So God let him go and then she said, here a bloody husband to me because of the circumcision. She did not want to have her son circumcised but she did it to!?Previous life and because Moses was the lead to children of Israel and as a leader obviously he had to be the example. He had not rather circumcised his children as he should have and God was saying Moses, how am I going to kill you? And Zaporik stepped up to the plate and circumcised the son and saved Moses’ life.
So that’s the answer. No, awesome. That clears everything up. That makes sense. Okay, Jonah. Thanks for calling. All right. And obviously, Zapora was, I think, wearing the pants in that family up until that point. And I think Moses and Zapora both learned a big lesson there. We’re now going to go to Eddie down in Miami. And Eddie, welcome to Bibleline Year on the air. Good morning, pastor. Good morning. I was reading about the Ark of the Covenant. And notice on the Ark of the Covenant there is a table with two angels on either end on both ends.
angels, those are chairbim and chairbim are not the same as angels. They are a special created being. There’s a limited number. I don’t know. I think maybe probably half a dozen only and that’s it. And then there are serifim. Which are also special created beings. And then weUsed Angel Angels. So the Cherubim did have wings. And they have wings as they over shadow the top of the Ark of the Covenant. Right, now Mike, thank you for carrying that up.
My question was, when Mary Magdalene went into the tomb and found the two angels on both ends of where Jesus was laying, is that like another sign of the Luke Covenant? Like it was back in the Old Testament? No, it has nothing to do with that. But obviously these angelic messengers let them know what had happened as the tomb was empty and they were bewildered. They thought somebody had stole the body. They were there really to prepare that body further for burial because the preparedness happened so hurriedly three days before.
So they came to complete it. They brought spices and ointments in order to prepare the body, but it was gone. And of course the angel said, why do you seek the living among the dead? He’s not here. He’s risen just like he told you. So they just simply were there to explain what happened. So it has nothing to do after Jesus rose again. No that doesn’t. Obviously the blood that he shed is the blood of the new covenant. Obviously the new covenant was brought into effect by Christ, death and shed blood at the cross, but those two angels there at the tomb I had nothing to do with that Okay, thank you for very much for saying that.
Oh, alright. You’re sure welcome any thank you for your call would now go to Carl in Tampa, Florida Carl welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air Yeah Siberic You mentioned the other day about that when a saint was someone to get saved that the saints celebrate in heaven and and around the ages and all that. and i was thinking well you know that i can someone believe that so what the moment they celebrate the moment the person turns your life over it’s not based on what or any kind of work because then the right will also talk about people uh…
they lost the survey would be sadness you’re that’s a great point of never heard of brought up before but i’m going to use i’m gonna steal it from you carl and i would hear people say oh there’s somebody on other side or another set of that’s all based on our works and that the only time that a person that we know that that the celebration of the moment that they trust christ the other day i say is that uh…
that i believe that there are some people that are saved uh… just as in the new testament when they had run around they had to act that would say that to be circumcised but we know that they will people will saveyer started to put their think they probably some people out there that are saved and they have put their trustpse and their say that the moment And now for some reason they’re believing some other than to believe those people are saved, they’re just being misled.
Absolutely. Yeah, you can go into bad doctrine after you become saved. And 1925 people do. They’re not really reading their Bible for themselves. And they just, whatever they hear, they take it in. I always tease that when they sit before a pastor, they say, what he feeds me, I will swallow. And they say, whatever they hear. Brees you can {* different speakers or or prophets or teachers against the word and if they don’t agree with the Bibleploy wrong Right including that that’s that’s we have to have some standard.
We have to have the ruler That’s and they only standateful we have is the Bible. I don’t see it in the Bible so what it’s Brexit and soDallasFrameworks teachings are man.”. and so soobyl so so skip ptin so so 887 so “:””},{” that’s a great illustration when a person gets saved here that it’s announced in heaven and people have been rejoiced if they could ever lose their salvation, what sadness that would bring when they would have had their hopes up and that their child was or their mother or father Ukip to go meet him in heaven and now they’re not going to come and that’s crazy we are saved for everyone should trust me.
Yeah, that’s great. Okay. Have a blessed day. Okay. Wow. The time goes by so quickly and we can’t do it for any more callers today but I hope everybody listening has trusted Jesus as their Savior. The only one only one is the trust Christ andFU.NAT Again, I want to say that we do need help here as we finish out August Here at Bibleline we are short and I hate to talk about money but it is important because we want to continue in all of our areas and the continuous program means we have to pay the radio stations and the other bills.
