Welcome to Bibleline and I hope that you’ll attend church someplace. If you are in the Tampa Bay area, you’re welcome to come by and worship with us on Sunday.
We’re gonna have our Christmas celebration service in the morning with a wonderful Christmas dinner following. And if you’re in the area, you’re welcome to come and just bring your Bible and your appetite and your family and stay for the service and join us for a wonderful lunch dinner that will follow after the morning service. You’re welcome to come and be a part of this weekend service. Leaving for Israel, if you wanna go, we need to get you signed up.
So call in for the information, 1-800-576-3771, 1-800-576-3771. And asked for the Israel trip information, leaving on March 12th of Monday, coming back on March 23rd, a Friday. 12 days in Israel, we’ll see all of the land from Mount Hermon in the north. Snowcapped all year long to the lowest spot on the face of the earth, the Dead Sea. And bring your bathing suit, because you’ll want to try that and you can’t possibly sink. That’s right, it’s the saltiest body of water on the face of the earth.
The water is clear. You can see right to the bottom, but nothing lives in that sea because of the tremendous mineral content and because of its saltiness and you’ll want to take a swim in the Dead Sea. And even if you can’t swim, there’s no possible danger of you drowning. I’ve laid there on my back and placed about an 8-pound stone on my stomach and I can still have my arms and feet up out of the water. It’s a wonderful experience and you might want to give it a try on our trip.
So give us a call 1-800-576-3771 and get the information sent to you or you can go our website BibleLineMinistries.org and click on Bibleline News and you’ll be able to download the whole trip information and the sign up sheet and we’d love to have you go. It’ll be trip number 14 for me and we’ll have a great time. So if you have your Bible, get it down. If you don’t have your Bible, then listen and you can go back and listen again again if you go to the internet but we’re going to talk a little bit about Christ.
You know the coming of Christ was foretold in the Old Testament. So the story of the birth of Christ Was to be expected. You know Isaiah 700 years before Jesus ever came the first time tells us in chapter 7 of Isaiah in verse 14. Therefore the Lord Himself shall give you a sign. Behold a virgin shall conceive and bear a son and shall call his name Emmanuel. And then incredible thing. Here. See. 740 years before Jesus ever comes, the Bible tells us about Jesus coming into this world, being born of a virgin.
It says in verse 14, therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign. Behold a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Emmanuel. Obviously young girls bear children every day and they conceive. But when a virgin conceives, that’s a sign. And clearly the Bible teaches the virgin birth of Christ. In the New Testament, this very verse is quoted. And they’re the Holy Spirit as He takes this quote and the New Testament being written in Greek.
We find the Greek word is used there, which means absolutely virgin. The word in the Hebrew means a young maiden, but in every case, whenever it’s used in the Old Testament, it’s of a young maiden that is a virgin. Some of the modern translations try to do away with the virgin birth. But if you don’t believe in the virgin birth, then obviously Jesus would be a descendant of Adam through Joseph, and he would be a sinner because the sin nature is passed on through the man.
And so Christ hence could not be our Savior because he would be a sinner. In order to be our Savior, he had to be sinless, or he’d have to pay for his own sins. And the Bible is very clear to tell us that Christ knew no sin, that he was without sin, that he of course gave his life so that you and I might be made his righteousness. When we trust Christ, the righteousness of God is credited to the account of the believer.
Isaiah 7, 14, write it down someplace. What a great verse. Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign. Behold a virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Emmanuel. And Emmanuel is an untranslated Hebrew word that means God with you or God dwelling with you. And so this would be no ordinary baby. This baby would be God who would actually dwell among men for a period of 33 years on the earth. What a great verse.
Quoted in Matthew chapter 1 verse 21 when Joseph is told about Mary being pregnant by the Holy Spirit. He was not the Father, and he quotes from Isaiah 714 to tell that Christ would be born of a virgin. Let’s go to Isaiah 9.6. Are you ready? Isaiah 9.6 says, for unto us a child is born unto us a son is given, and the government shall be upon his shoulder, taking of the Second Coming of Christ, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, the Mighty God.
Did you know that Jesus is God? Well we just said it, the name Emmanuel means God dwelling with you. This child would be God in flesh, but also here it tells us that his name is called Wonderful Counselor, the Mighty God. Then notice it says, the everlasting Father. That’s right. Jesus Christ here is called the Everlasting Father, and He’s also called here the Prince of Peace. What an incredible verse Isaiah 9, 6 is, telling us about Jesus and how He would be God in flesh.
He would be the mighty God, the Everlasting Father. By the way, this is a great verse to use with Jehovah’s Witnesses because they don’t have a good answer. Clearly, the Prophet said that this child that would be the Messiah would be born and he would be the Mighty God. He would be the everlasting Father. says here also. A child was born and a son is given. And that’s an amazing reference also because the flesh that God took upon himself was born.
But yet God, the second member of the Godhead, the eternal son of God, had existed for him eternity past, and he gave himself as the Savior. But we find here that the flesh was born. Now, some teach that Mary is the mother of God. of God. That’s not true. That is not true. Mary was the mother of the flesh that God took upon himself, but Mary was not the mother of God. God doesn’t have a mother. God doesn’t have a father.
God has existed from eternity past. He has no birthday, but the flesh that God took upon himself had a birthday and that’s what we celebrate at Christmas. And so certainly the Bible is incredible here because if we change this and said a son is born and a child is given, then it would totally destroy the whole meaning. The flesh was born that God took upon himself. And Jesus, who is the eternal second member of the Godhead, the Son of God gave Himself to become our Savior, taking on human flesh.
Isaiah 9, 6. Did you know there are around 330 prophecies of the first coming of Christ, all of them fulfilled, literally? Boy, the improbability or the improbability of these being fulfilled in one person named Jesus Christ is astronomical. Obviously, for these to have been fulfilled by Christ demonstrates that He is indeed the Savior, the Messiah. All 330 prophecies were literally fulfilled. You know, if you give each one of them a one in ten chance of probability, that would mean for all 330 to be fulfilled, it would be one chance in ten to the 330th power.
That means you have to take a one and start writing zero zero zero zero zero zero zero zero zero zero zero zero zero zero zero zero zero zero zero zero zero zero zero zero! That is the probability for Christ to have fulfilled all three hundred and thirty prophecies if you give each of them a one in ten chance of being fulfilled. You know, even if you give them a 50-50 chance, it would be one chance in two to the 330th power, which would equivalent be the equivalent of one in ten to the 80th power, still an astronomical number.
Can you imagine writing 80 zeros after that one? So even if you gave them a 50-50 chance, it would be highly improbable that any committee He could fulfill all 330 prophecies, but Jesus Christ did because He is indeed the Savior, the Messiah. And you know, He’s the only way to heaven. Jesus said it in John 14, 6, I am the way, I am the truth, I am the life, no man cometh unto the Father but by me. And so in order to go to heaven, you must trust Jesus Christ as your Savior.
There is no other way. Peter said it, next 4-12. Peter said neither is there salvation in any other, for there is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved. If you’re gonna be saved my friend, you must trust Christ. Unless you do, you will not enter heaven. You will not be able to go to be with the Lord when you die. you die. But when you become a believer from that moment on, you’re eternally saved and will never be lost.
Isn’t that great to know? Well, in any case, that is what happens for the believer. You’re absent from the body, present with the Lord, and you’ll be saved forever and ever and ever once you trust Jesus Christ forever and ever. Well, we have several offer your questions, we want to get some of these taken care of today. We had Phil in Largo and he says, when the Antichrist dies from a head wound and you know it doesn’t tell us that it’s a fatal wound.
But the question is where does his soul go for those three days? I really believe he has a wound of the head but it is one that should take his life but perhaps doesn’t. It’s the kind of, I believe, of the death and the burial and resurrection of Christ but I don’t really believe the Antichrist does. So he is a counterfeit and doesn’t die. We have Winfred in Bradenton, Florida, and he says if Jesus was crucified on Wednesday afternoon and died, when was he resurrected?
And we believe Saturday at sundown. Christ was placed in the grave at sundown. We believe on Wednesday and at sundown on Wednesday began the Passover. And that was Thursday of that week. And, Wednesday night is really Thursday night for the Jews as they count their night first from 6 p.m. Until 6 a.m. And then Thursday the Passover day would be from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday. So if Christ according to his own words in Matthew 1240 would be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth, that would mean 72 hours he’d be in the grave.
If he goes in the grave at sundown, I believe he has to come out of the grave at sundown. And guess what? Saturday at sundown is exactly when Sunday night begins the first day of the week. And so Christ rose exactly when the first day of the week began. And what happened Sunday morning was a discovery of the empty tomb. Nobody saw Christ rise from the dead on Sunday morning because he didn’t. He rose Saturday sundown, which was the beginning of Sunday night, the first day of the week, and twelve hours later in the morning they discovered the empty tomb.
We have Paul in Nashville, Tennessee, calling in, and welcome to all of our listeners in Nashville as we’re on there every day now, Monday through Friday. Paul in Nashville says, Jesus being God is he the only God in the Godhead? Well, Jesus is God, but obviously the Godhead is three-fold. There is God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, all eternally God, all co-equal, and yet there’s only one God. Now if you’re thinking in terms of addition, some people have said that we believe in three gods, but it’s not one plus one plus one, it’s one times one times one.
You know, if you multiply one times one times one, you get one. And here we have God, the eternal God, existing in three separate eternal persons, but yet He is just one God. Paul, I hope that helps. Thank you for calling in from Nashville and hope you tell your friends and help us grow our audience there in Nashville, 20, Nashville, Tennessee. We have Paul in Sanford, Florida and Paul calls in and says, what happened to Adam and Eve after they were banished from the Garden of Eden?
Well, I’m sure they had to work a little harder to get food to grow because they were now under the curse. We know they had children, they had Cain and Abel as their first children. We know they lived quite a long life. Adam lived to be 930 years old. That’s a pretty lengthy life. And we know that they apparently lived in good health all those years. So we don’t know a whole lot, but we do know that. And of course, he’s our great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, grandfather.
So they couldn’t re-enter Eden, but they did live, and I’m sure they lived a good life for those many, many years that they lived. We are inviting you to call us if you want to at 1-800-576-3771. If you have a question or comment, this is a good time for you to give us a call. We have Melvin in Richmond, Virginia, and he says, what is the oneness theology versus the Trinity theology? I’ve been hearing a lot of this lately.
Trinitarian pastors are inviting oneness pastors to speak to their congregation. I’m not really too sure. I’m going to have to do my homework here, Melvin, and try to find out what this is all about because I really don’t know. So there you have it, and I’ll try to make a note here to research that one here on the Oneness Theology. We have another call from Nashville, Tennessee. We have Lee. And it says here, he says in Genesis 9, why was the fourth son punished?
Is there a biblical message? Well there were three sons of Noah. The punishment was on the grandson, and I believe that was because God had, or Noah had already blessed his son and could not curse him. But the curse came upon his grandson, and I believe it was because of the homosexual act that he performed on his father. Noah got drunk after the flood, and his son went in on him and uncovered his nakedness. That’s a phrase that means he had a sexual relationship with his dad.
And so obviously one of the things that caused God to destroy the world in the flood perhaps was all these types of corruptions and perversions including homosexuality. And so here after the flood one of his sons committed a homosexual act and he was his grandson that experienced the curse. going to go to Eden down in Port Charlotte, Florida and welcome to Bibleline your on the air. Yes, good morning pastor. Good morning. My question is about the revelation. But the great intubulation, I’m asking how did anybody going to…
Anybody going to survive after the church is gone with Christ? Is anybody going to be saved from the interbulation or? Well then. Well the answer is millions will get saved. If you read Revelation 7, it mentions 144,000 Jewish men that become the evangelist during that time. In verse 9 it tells us I saw a great multitude which no man could number of all nations and kindreds and tongues which were saved as a result of their evangelism. And obviously millions will enter into that thousand year reign of Christ at the end of that seven years.
People in their mortal bodies that still are alive. And so the fact that Christ comes back and cuts off the tribulation period because if If you didn’t, apparently mankind would annihilate all life on the planet. But Christ comes back and establishes a kingdom and there will be millions that will be saved that will enter into that kingdom. And that seems to be quite clear from many passages. Okay. I get one more question or last question. Okay. What about Moses is going to come back during the tribulation period.
There are two prophets in Revelation 11 that come back and preach during that time for the first three and a half years. And you’ll notice in Revelation 11, one has the power to pray that it will not rain during the time of his prophecy. And the prophet that did that in the Old Testament was Elijah. The other will have power over the waters to turn them to blood. And the smite the earth as often as he will with the plagues.
And that was Moses. We believe Moses and Elijah will come back and preach and crank up the seven years of tribulation. It’s very fitting because it is the last seven years of the Old Testament age of law and both Moses who introduced the law, who got the law from God at Mount Sinai, and Elijah were prophets during the dispensation of law. and we’ll come back and finish out the age of law the last seven years by jump starting everything.
And I think it’s through the evangelism that the 144,000 Jewish men get saved. Okay, thank you very much, Walter. You’re very welcome, Eden. And thank you for calling into Bible. And we have Wilburn in Richmond, Virginia. Wilburn, you’re on the air. Good morning, Dr. Hank. Good morning. Sometimes it’s hard to tell if a pastor saved they are good to disciple and they preach to word of God. So my question is, is a valid baptism based on being baptized by a saved born-again pastor?
Well, I would hope so. I’d hate to think of somebody being baptized who is genuinely saved, being baptized by an unsafe person. But I would imagine it could happen. So maybe not only should the pastor interview the person he’s baptized, he’s going to make sure you’re saved. But maybe you ought to interview your pastor to make sure he’s saved. I hadn’t thought of that before, but it’s possible that that could happen. I know the Lord would understand if you were ignorant of the fact that he was not saved.
I was sprinkled as a baby and my pastor was not saved. To my knowledge, he never trusted Christ even though I had attempted to lead him to Christ. He was definitely unsafe. But of course later, after I got saved, I was immersed, which I believe New Testament baptism, believers baptism, is a picture of us being cleansed of our sin by the blood of Christ that is by total… So, I was totally immersed after I got saved. So, Wilbur and I don’t know what to take except you just have to ask the right questions to make sure the pastor is saved.
Okay, well, well, secondly, salvation has been not based on baptism except by baptism, by the Holy Spirit. Amen. So, you don’t have to worry if you’re saved or saved whether you’re water baptized or not. But certainly the Lord wants to do that as a testimonial of the fact that we’ve been cleansed of our sins. him. This is Bible and it’s Friday. We sure would like to remind you to go to church some places Sunday. The way to select a church is based on good, solid teaching because that is the essential thing of the church where it’s a place to be taught and to grow in the knowledge and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.
And so if your church is not sound and doctrine and perhaps you need to move along and look for one that is. We have a lot more people holding on ready to get on the air. We have a lot more offer questions. We’ll try to get to them after the break because we’re coming up on the break right now. I hope you will catch the second half of the program when we come back from the break. And of course, if you don’t have that on your station, you can go to the Internet and catch the full program live.
I’m Dr. Englund’s room. England’s room. This is Bibleline and we’re going to take a short break and come right back. So don’t go away. Stay tuned right here to Bibleline. Go away. Bibleline will be back in a moment to pledge your support for Bibleline. Give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. All right. I’m Dr. England. This is great to be with you today. Thanks for tuning into the broadcast. and thank you for listening and passing that word along to your friends.
And Mary Christmas to you, it’s a wonderful month. This is a great time to evangelize and share the gospel of Jesus Christ. And by the way, would you consider giving a special gift to Bible and here at Christmas? I know a lot of times people make up their shopping list and they have all their aunts and uncles and nephews and nieces and relatives on the list. But somehow, Jesus, oftentimes, is not even on the list. And are you going to give a gift to Jesus this Christmas?
Or would you consider giving a gift to Christ by giving a gift to Bibleline and helping us close out this year with everything paid up and entering the brand new year without any outstanding debts? And that would be a blessing. And I want to thank you in advance for your prayers and for your gifts and maybe for a special Christmas gift to Bibleline here in the month of December. I hope you’ll consider that and maybe put that on your shopping list.
In any case, we’re leaving for Israel March 12th. I’d love to have you go. That’ll be a Monday. We’ll come back on March 23rd, a Friday and we invite you to go with us. The information if you call our 800 number, we’ll be glad to send you the information about the trip. Also, you can download that off the internet if you go to my website, BibleLineMinistries.org and just click on Bibleline News and you can download all the trip information and the sign up sheet and so on.
So we’d love to have you go. Also, we have lots of resources that would make a wonderful gift here at Christmas. from Bibles and commentaries, concordances and aids to study your Bible, but also some wonderful tracks that actually work that you could use to put in your Christmas cards and to evangelize over the holidays and CDs and DVDs and teachings that I have done that are available that would be very helpful. Some of the latest teachings are I did 10 hours on the book of Jude, 10 hours on the book of Romans, 10 hours on the book of Romans and Hebrews both on Jude and also we’ve done a lot of other topics that are available as well.
So keep that in mind and just call our operator and get a resource sheet sent out or go to the internet and look at all the things we have on our online bookstore on the internet. We’re going to rejoin the stations now that have been on break. Do the second half of my mind. So keep your radio dial tuned right here. We’re going to be right back. Would you like to help Bibleline continue in your area? You can. Just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3771.
That’s 1-800-576-3771. Now here again is Dr. Hank Lindstrom. I am back from the break and this is Bible and I’m Dr. Englunds from and we’re coming to you live from Tampa, Florida from our studios here at the Calvary Community Church. We’re on the pastor and we look forward to being with you each and every day. If you get a chance to come by and visit us on Sunday, we’d love to have you if you’re in driving distance. If you’re not, we’re webcasting our Sunday morning message.
All you have to do is go to my website, BibleLineMinistries.org, and just click on the camera on the home page, and you’ll be connected to the webcast of the morning message. And it’ll happen a little bit right after 11 o’clock, and you’ll see clouds going by, you’ll hear the Orogate Cross, but as soon as I begin the message, the audio and the video will come up. And so we sure hope that you’ll take advantage of that. And we have now viewers of the Sunday morning worship from California over to the east coast of the United States and everything in between.
And a lot of people are telling us how much they enjoy being able to see that. By the way, it goes back into our time. You can watch it at your pleasure as well at other times, but you can catch it live on Sunday morning. And you can fill your monitor with the picture and have a very good sound quality by clicking on the right side when you come to the internet service to Windows Media Player, it’ll allow you the full screen capability.
So keep that in mind. Would you consider giving a special gift to Bibleline here at Christmas? That would be a wonderful gift and would help us make sure that all of our bills were paid for the year 2006 and that we enter the new year 2007 debt-free. A lot of people make up a shopping list and they usually put all the nephews and nieces and aunts and uncles and grandmoms and grandpops and whoever else is on the list. But many times Jesus is left off the list.
Did you know it’s his birthday? Can you imagine giving gifts to everybody but the person whose birthday it is? Imagine going to a birthday party and giving a gift to everybody that comes to the birthday party but leaving the one whose birthday it is without a present. Well it seems like that sometimes happens. And would you put Christ on your shopping list and maybe give a gift to Bibleline as a way of giving a gift to Christ at Christmas?
Be greatly appreciated. I want to thank you in advance for your prayers and for your gifts and maybe for a special Christmas gift to help us make sure everything is paid off as we end up this year and enter the new year. We’re going to go to the phone lines we have Antonio who’s been patiently waiting from Tampa. Welcome to Bible lines. Yes, good morning. I’ve been having a, he is a big business gentleman. That basically what I’m trying to tell him is that if you believe in Jesus and you believe that he died, that he’s the son of God and he died on the cross, that you will receive salvation.
And he believes that if you believe in Jesus but you don’t follow the works that are in the Bible that you be damned. And I told him, well the words saying that God will not forsake you are in the Bible. So he made a reference to like Matthew’s about in terms of being thrown into the lake of fire. Well, you know, he’s really mistaken and terribly so because if you add works to faith in Christ, then you won’t be saved at all.
Romans 11, 6 says, if by grace, and of course was saved by grace or mercy or unmerited favor, it says if by grace, then it is no more of works. Otherwise grace isn’t grace. But if it be of works, which this phrase is scary, then it’s no more of grace, otherwise work is no more work. So in other words, if you add any works, you’ll stand before God having no grace or no mercy, and you’ll wind up in hell because you’re trusting in your works.
Most of these people have been taught wrong and they somehow feel like they’re more secure because they’re trusting in more things than Christ to get them to heaven which they think is like a safety net. But the opposite is true because if you trust in any works in reality you haven’t trusted Christ as Savior. The illustration I like is the one that I came up with where you’re on a dock. And you’re going to step off onto a small boat.
And if you put one foot on the boat and you’re still with the other foot on the dock, are you trusting the boat? And the answer is no. What if you put both feet on the boat, but you’re still holding on to the piling there on the dock? Well, you’re still not trusting the boat because you’re still holding on to the dock. What if you take both hands and both feet off of the dock, but you’re still holding on to a rope tied to the dock?
tied to the dock. You’re still not trusting the boat. You’re still connected to the dock somehow. So until you cut all ties with the dock and completely rest your weight on the boat, you haven’t trusted the boat. And until you’ve cut all ties to baptism, church membership and everything else that you’re holding on to and simply cut loose of all those things and put your trust in Christ alone, you’re not saved. Basically, I should refer him to Romans 11, 11, 6.
exactly and also Romans 4 5 where it says to him that does not work at all but believe it on Christ who justifies the ungodly his faith in Christ is counted for righteousness. So God’s formula is that it’s not of works. If he’s just to aid also says by grace or you save through faith and that not of yourselves it’s the gift of God. Verse 9 says not of works lest any man should boast or brag. So salvation is not based on works, it’s based on Christ alone and what he did for us at the cross.
All right, thank you very much. All right, you’re so welcome. Antonio in Tampa and many people are trusting in Christ plus their works. And according to the Bible, you will not be saved because in reality, you’re not trusting Christ. Just like if you put one foot on the boat, you still have a foot on the dock. You haven’t trusted the boat to hold your weight until you’ve completely cut and severed all ties to the dock. We have Bill in Valrico, Florida.
Bill, welcome to Bible and You’re On The Earth. Well, good morning, Dr. Hank. How are you today? Good. Oh, good. Well, listen, I’m going to say this. In the ACL, you might be listening, but anyway, Merry Christmas. Well, thank you. Anyway, no, I’ve called several times, you know, to ask you questions. I know that I already have time, but I value your opinion highly. And I’m going to ask you a question. It’s not so much biblical as it is.
Do you believe that it was a book written several years ago, and I cannot think of this The author was talking about finding God in secular stuff like movies and music and stuff like that. And I have noticed since, you know, I came to the Lord Jesus six years ago that when I listen to secular music or sometimes when I watch movies, I notice like little, little things like telling you that, you know, God is there. And… I am.
And I would just wonder, do you believe in your opinion that people can find in the secular stuff? Don’t come right out and mention God, but I can’t around at it. Okay, I’ll give you a classic example. There’s a, um, there’s a folk singer and a lot of people don’t know who he is, but he did this song that was called Ascent. And the very last stans of the song was, let’s see if I can remember what the last stans of the song was, it was Lord knows I don’t deserve this after all the pain I’ve caused.
But do me one last service before I take this walk, before my soul flies from this chamber, and Heaven beckons me across, read me what Jesus said to that Savior on the cross, or to the thief upon the cross. Now I was just wondering, what is your opinion on people finding stuff in this? in the secular. I think God can use any means to, to get somebody’s attention, but obviously his word is the prime source because his words are living words.
They bring life to those that are spiritually dead and that might be a catcher attention type thing. But I think that people really need to get into the Word of God. And of course, it’s the Word of God that we are to use when we bring the gospel to someone else. after one talks about that he begets us again by his word. And so… Jesus says in John 524, rarely, rarely I say unto you, he that heareth my word and believe it on him that sent me has everlasting life and shall not come into condemnation but has passed from death in the life.
So the word of God is living in powerful and sharper than any two are to sort and it’s the means. But no doubt we can see in the creation. In Romans 1 20 it says that the creation shows the fact that there is a God. that created everything. Obviously it just didn’t happen. If you were to you know be isolated on an island someplace and all of a sudden you found a wrist watch on the shore. You wouldn’t assume that it would be something that evolved out of seashells.
But there had to be some intelligent designer that put that thing together and obviously in the same way. When we see the beauty of creation, we realize that there had to be a creator to bring about that creation that creators got. So all those things can be used, but ultimately they have to take us to Christ, which he’s revealed in his word. Right, blind watchmaker. Yeah, yeah. Okay, now let me ask you a question, and I cannot find anybody that knows the answer to this.
Do you remember an old song called Beyond the Blue Horizon? No, I don’t. I don’t know what that is. Okay. It was an old song. I think it was done back in the 30s or the 40s, about Beyond the Blue Horizon, their lives a rising sun. I don’t know if you remember that song. It was done by some old country singer, but I can’t remember who did that. But that’s one of those songs that always runs through my head.
And it’s a very interesting song. If anybody out there might happen to know who did it originally, but it was called Beyond the Blue Horizon. we’ve arrived and it’s one of those kinds that you’re listening about, you know, rising to sun. Yeah, well music is very, very powerful and certainly it can lift us our spirits, it can also take us the other direction. And today I think a lot of the music is satanic. I mean, the lyrics are absolutely embarrassing to hear.
I just cannot believe some of the rap and other lyrics that we’re hearing today. No doubt about it. The word of God is where we need to go. And they can’t wait to get to heaven to hear the music they’ll have there. Thank you Bill so much. We have Mike in Richmond, Virginia. Mike, welcome to Bibleline your On The Air. Hi, Dr. Hank. I’ve got a question. I’m kind of explaining Second Timothy, chapter 2. I just want to make sure that I’m actually interpreting that portion of scripture because I use it for basically showing somebody their eternals.
I wanted to make sure that I was interpreting verse 11 and 12 correctly as well and I just wanted to hear. Are you in 2 Timothy? Yes, 2 Timothy, chapter 2. And it says here in verse 11, it is a faithful saying, if we be dead with him we should also live with him. Of course, we have died with Christ positionally. and we trust Christ as Savior, the Bible says we’re placed into the body of Christ. And so God sees us in Christ’s body.
So when He was crucified, we were crucified. When He was buried, we were buried. When He rose from the dead, we rose from the dead. When He ascended into heaven, we ascended. So God sees us already in heaven, ascended with Christ. And so if we have died with Him, referring to us being seen in Christ, which happens by faith, by the way. Philippians 3 and 9 says, be found in Him by faith. So when we place our trust in Christ, we are then seen in Christ, and therefore crucified, buried, resurrected, and ascended with Christ.
We’re also going to live with Him forever and ever. Romans 6 also covers that same thought. Verse 12 says, If we suffer, we shall also reign with Him. So reigning rewards or ruling powers and blessings come by suffering and living for Christ. If we deny Him, He will deny us and I believe it’s denying us rewards or blessings if we have not served Him. So as far as salvation is concerned, that’s a gift. But as far as rewards are concerned, it’s like if you don’t go to work, the boss doesn’t pay you.
He doesn’t pay you to stay home. He pays you if you come to work into your job. And so as a Christian, once we’re saved, God pays us or rewards us if we do serve Him. But if we don’t, then we’re denied the paycheck. So He’s going to deny us any reward or paycheck if we don’t live for Him. Then of course, go ahead. reference in Matthew chapter 10 when he talks about denying it’s really saying the same thing.
Exactly. Talking about rewards there and of course in 1 Corinthians 3 15 which is a dynamite verse, it says, if any man’s work shall be burned at the Joseph’s of Christ, he shall suffer loss, but he himself shall be saved. So there it gives a verse where potentially it’s implying that you could have nothing that you have done in your life worthy of reward that it might all be burnt up and yet you would still be saved. And that’s what it says.
If any man’s works shall be burned, he shall suffer loss. That’s loss of reward, but he himself shall be saved yet so as by fire. So it’s a powerful, powerful verse to throw into the mix. Okay. Now in verse 13, when he says, if we believe not, is that just essentially something our wavering face? I think if you even stop believing, you know, over in Peter, it tells us that a Christian, if they get away from the things of God, can even get to the place where they forget that they were saved.
Right. So if you get to that point, I think maybe you might even deny you ever had faith in Christ. And yet if you were saved, he can’t deny himself. So he’s going to make good on his promise and you’re still saved whether you remember you were or not. Okay, because I’m also a counselor as well, and I use that verse for one of my families that I work with Alzheimer’s patients and try to explain to them that it doesn’t matter that they remember, don’t remember how they’re acting now, and that they can be assured that their loved one is in heaven regardless.
Regardless of their… The other question I had real quick was in Revelation 13a was, I’ve always taught that all names written in the lambs book of life but then i as i was reading in revelation thirteen eight it says and all that well upon the earth shall worship him whose names are not written in the book of life of the lambs plane from the foundation of the world and i was wondering how how i should do and for that well i think you have to look at it is to win that occurs and it actually occurs later at the great white throne judgment after the manual kingdom is over and at that point their names are not in the book so they’ve already died before their names are already been stricken so at that point their names are not there okay well that’s what that’s how i explained it’s going to make sure
wonderful alright thanks a lot okay thank you for calling in alright that was uh… uh… mike and now we have uh… uh… lillian in uh… the land florida lillian in the land welcome to buy one year Hey, Pastor Lindstrom, how are you doing? Good. All right. I have a few things that I’m concerned about. But first of all, I must tell you that Israel sounds great. My heart is willing, but my pocket is weak this year. So we’ll see if I can save for next year.
Well, that’d be wonderful. Love to have you go with me. Yes, sir. My question is the great commission that Jesus, our God, gave out that people should go and preach and teach and baptize in the name of Jesus, in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. But also in Hacks 238 and Hacks 812, I’m attending this church here and they’re Pentecostal and that’s what they go of Hacks. And I’m concerned, confused or whatever. Are they making a condition for salvation?
Yeah, because they’re saying that if you baptize in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost, it’s like you’re not baptized until you baptize in the name of Jesus for a mission of sin. Well that is not true. If you look at Matthew 28 where it says that, it says, baptize them in the name singular. They all have the same name. The Father is Yahweh and Jesus is Yahweh or Yeshua and the Holy Spirit is Yahweh.
So all three of the same God. And to try to make a big point out of that, I think it’s obviously try to make a… I’m out and out of a mole hill. It’s not really an issue at all But to try to say that you must be water baptized to be saved is a major error because we’re not saved by water We’re saved by the blood of Christ and water is only a testimonial of how we’re cleansed of our sin by the blood of Christ Right.
I don’t believe that’s 238 is talking about water. I think it’s talking about a cleansing the word word baptism means to wash or to cleanse and it says in the name of the Lord Jesus. So when you are cleansed in the authority of his name as he authorized all that would believe on him to be saved, your cleanse of your sin and your going to heaven. So it’s not talking about water there, it’s the baptism in the name or in the authority of the name of Jesus that he authorized that all that would believe on him would be saved.
Well, I think they have it wrong then because what they’re saying, like when they have a service, you know, like, and they call, you know, for like people to come to the altar and, you know, whatever. And they want, if you have been baptized and if you’ve been baptized in the name of the Father, this son and the Holy Ghost, then they believe that you should be baptized in the water in the pool in the name of Jesus Christ you should go down in the pool in the name of Jesus Christ.
So my understanding, how my experience with my Pentecostal church is, you know, you have to be baptized, go down in the water in the name of Jesus Christ. but not to be saved. And if they are teaching it for salvation, then they’re clearly wrong, and you probably need to find a new church because water baptism doesn’t save anybody. And if you were not water baptized, it’s still good to have it, just like the dying thief believed, but he was never in Christ’s up to date.
I should be with me in paradise. Yeah, and the next thing again, Because I’m a little, you know, I’m blurry. If you’re not, because I know I’m safe. I know I love the Lord and I know I’m safe because all the things I used to do in the under, I do them nowhere and I’m living for the Lord. I’m not perfect, you know, but I’m still living for the Lord, doing all the things that I, you know, whatever. If you’re not crying, you know, you’re supposed to be tears in your face, should be watered down, and wet down with tears that you’re supposed to be speaking and dumb.
Well, then I get the impression that, well, you’re not safe if you’re not doing that. That’s not true either. And that’s just emotionalism and women, of course, have a tendency to cry more than men. But men, I think, kind of cry inside. But they may not shed any tears, but it doesn’t mean that they’re not impacted. But that has nothing to do with your salvation. When you trust Christ, He saves you and it has nothing to do with something that we’re going to do or some kind of response on our part.
Salvation is not of yourself, Ephesians 2, 8. In verse 9 it’s not of work. So I think you’re in the wrong church. I think you need to move on. Yes, because you know like when you call and you say, come up in front of the throne and you know you should be crying and let your faith wash with tears and you should be crying and pouring out your heart and you know I mean I can’t get up and cry every day like it is.
I mean you know I think that’s so I get the impression that one is well if you’re not doing all those things and speaking in tongues. No they’re just making things up as they go you know if you read about the early church in next 241 it says they continued steadfastly not in tears and sorrow and but it says in the Apostles’ Doctrine and Fellowship in the Breaking of Bread and Prayers and Witnessing and Nothing about crying and and and that’s just Ex-led there 241 you know the early church here are three thousand people who saved at Pentecost and it says and what made them dynamic Was they continued steadfastly number one in the Apostles’ Doctrine, which is the Bible In other words, if you have your Bible right, that’s the foundation for everything else in your Christian life and some of these churches are doctrinally unsound rather than being doctrinally sound.
And those things can’t be supported. You need to ask chapter and verse please. I think we’ll have trouble producing that for you. Okay, the next thing is communion. I’m here a lot of New York and I’ve been at this church almost two years. And I cannot tell when I get communion. Union. … … … … … … … They don’t do communion once a month. They don’t do it. I can’t remember ever getting any beer. I remember I mentioned it to him once that I would like to get communion.
Because I work in different hours, I work with sick people. Maybe they give it at night when I’m on the job. But I said it to him, I like to have communion. He said, well, I’ll notify you when I’m having and every year anything. What do you think of communion? absolutely we should be doing that as a believer because it says as asking as you do it you can remember it. We should do that to remember the Lord as a precious service and every church really ought to do that on a regular basis.
It doesn’t sound like you’re in a good church at all. We’ll be praying for you. Please do sir I need it. I’m asking the Lord to direct my part to move on to something. Amen. All right. Thank you sir and have a great great day. Bye bye. We have a bunch of callers waiting to get on the air. I don’t think we’re gonna be able to do it. But you know I hope you have a good weekend.
