Then we will be, of course, going to the live callers, and we hope that’s you. The number here is 1-800-576-3771, 1-800-576-3771. And you can leave an all-fair question if you like, as well, if you don’t want to go up on the air, and we have lots of those all-fair questions that we’ll be trying to answer as well today. So let’s go to the Bible. If you have your Bible, get it open to 1 Corinthians chapter 3, 1 Corinthians chapter 3, and this will be at verse 11.
For other foundation can no man lay, then that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. He’s the foundation. He’s the rock, Peter, but Christ. And the Bible is very clear about that, that Peter is not the rock. Peter is not the foundation. Christ himself is the foundation. And even Peter himself said that in Acts 4, 11, and 12, he said, this is the stone. And he says, Christ is that stone. And neither is there salvation in any other, for there is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved.
So we find that Peter also admits he’s not the stone, he’s not the rock, but Christ is the foundation. And here you have it in 1 Corinthians 3, 11 as well. For other foundation can no man lay, then that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now, verse 12 and on, talk about a judgment coming up for believers only called the judgment seat of Christ. There are two judgments. One is for believers only, one is for unbelievers only, and they’re separated by a thousand years.
And we as believers will stand at this first judgment called the judgment seat of Christ. It says in verse 12 now if any man build upon this foundation, which is that of Christ, only Christians therefore are in this judgment because it’s talking here about those that have the foundation of Christ and can build upon that foundation. It says here, gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble, six different kinds of building materials and the first three are lasting if tried by fire.
The last three are burnt up if tried by fire, and only ashes will remain. The Bible tells us that our works will be tried by fire at this judgment. It says in verse 13, Every man’s work, that is those that are believers that will stand at this judgment, shall have their works made known. For the date shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire, and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. This is not a purgatory.
This is a judgment of works and the works will be tried to determine whether they were lasting in a value and worthy to be rewarded or whether they would be burned up and represent things that were temporary and would not last into eternity. So verse 14 goes on to say, now, if any man his work should abide that he hath built their pawn that is on the foundation of Christ, he shall receive a reward.” Now rewards are earned. Salvation is never in the Bible ever spoken of as a reward.
And so salvation is never spoken of as a reward, but rewards are earned and there are many different crowns and rewards that can be earned by the believer for the things that we do. So it says, if any man’s work abide which hath built their pawn, he shall receive a reward. But look at verse 15, this is 1 Corinthians 3, 15. If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss. And it’s loss of reward, of course, not loss of salvation.
But if your works are burned up, you’ll suffer loss of reward, but he himself shall be saved, yet so has my fire. this amazing saying here that basically even if all your works were burned up, if you did absolutely nothing worthy of reward in your Christian life, you’d still be saved. But you would suffer loss of reward, but you’d be saved, get so as by fire. So we’re only saved by faith alone apart from works. And so if your works, when they’re examined at the judgment seat of Christ are burned up and you have no works worthy of reward.
You’d still be saved. That certainly goes across the grain of those who teach that you have to have your life improve in order to be saved or that you have to have works in order to be saved. The Bible doesn’t teach any such thing. The Bible says in Ephesians 2-9, salvation is none of works, lest any man should boast. But as a believer, we will be held accountable for what we have done since we have been saved. And this judgment tells us that we need to work, not to be saved, but to earn rewards in heaven.
If any man is work abide, which you have built near upon, he shall receive a reward. But if any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss of reward, but he himself shall be saved.” Wow, it’s talking here about what’s going to happen one day when you stand before the Lord. Verse 8 tells us, Every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labor. You know, I trusted Christ and received the gift of everlasting life. The good of heaven has been purchased as received by the believer as a gift, but rewards then are earned and I realized as a new believer that if I was going to have any rewards in heaven I needed to get busy.
I needed to get doing things and our works are going to be examined. Now if we’ve done things that are worthy of reward and the Bible outlines things that God will reward then it says here when he judges our works by fire if any abide then we’ll receive reward but if we’ve done nothing The God’s been saved will still decide but it says in verse 15 if any man’s works would be burned he shall suffer lost loss of reward but himself shall still be saved.
Now in Revelation chapter 20 it talks about the great white throne judgment where all unbelievers will appear and they will have their works examined and it will determine the degree of punishment. In other words belief or unbelief in Christ determines your destination. believer in Christ. If you have trusted Christ as your only means of reaching heaven, you Believe in your belief. Really?
No, sir believe in your belief? No, sir. Believe in your belief. will be saved and you will go to heaven. If you die as an unbeliever, if you die without Maybe you won’t get it. No, sir. Maybe you won’t get it. No, sir. I will be your believe. Christ, you will go to hell. But all believers will stand before a judgment where your works I will be your believe.
Alright, it’ll be all about you. will be examined to determine the degree of reward in heaven. There are degrees of reward in heaven. The Bible is very clear on that. Unbelievers will go to hell because of unbelief, But their works will be examined to determine the degree of punishment in hell. You see there are degrees of punishment in hell. Satan is the worst punished. So many people think because of the cartoons that Satan is the ruler of hell that he goes around and tortures people and pokes them with a pitchfork and he’s the one that turns up the heat, turns up the flames and hell and so on.
That is not true. Jesus Christ is the ruler over hell according to the Bible. And those that are lost will be cast into hell in the presence of Jesus, in the presence of God’s angels. And they’ll be cast into the lake of fire, will they be tormented day and night forever and ever. But before they’re cast in, according to Revelation chapter 20 verses 11 through 15, they’ll stand before the great white throne judgment, and their works will be examined, and it will be determined what degree of punishment they will receive based upon their deeds.
Believers a thousand years earlier will stand before the judgment seat of Christ, and the believers works will be examined to determine the degree of reward in heaven. So there you have it, a destination is determined by belief or unbelief in Christ, whereas what happens at destination is determined by your works. That’s why works are very important, but they are not a part of our salvation. They are the means by which believers are rewarded, and it’s the means by which the degree of punishment and hell unbelievers are rewarded.
That’s right. They’ll be rewarded according to their deeds, and they go to hell because they reject Christ, but their deeds will determine the degree of punishment and hell. I’m Dr. Hank Lindstrom, This is BIMLINE great to be with you today and we look forward to being with you all week long I hope you’ll tune us in as often as you can and if you can’t get us during the live broadcast You can catch us certainly on the internet 24 7 we’re now goingSnake to Jack in Clearwater, Florida and Jack welcome to BIMLINE you’re on the earth Good morning dr.
Lister. How are you good? My question is this, in the book of Mark, I think it’s chapters 16, 9 through 20. I’ve lived at their speculation that that wasn’t actually written by Mark but added later. I wanted to know what your thoughts were and I’ll hang up andDW. Okay, Jack, thank you. I totally disagree with that. I believe that it is there, it belongs there. And when they talk about the best manuscripts, they don’t tell you what best script manuscripts are and basically what they’re talking about is two manuscripts that were in the custodial care and still are of the Roman Catholic Church in the Vatican.
And I really don’t trust those folks and so I don’t think that we have a reliable source there. By the way, nobody has ever seen those manuscripts. That’s right. They have never let anybody see them. Now they have made copies that have been seen, but nobody has ever seen the original. So that’s kind of scary in itself. Why do they keep that a secret? Why don’t let people see that? So these are two manuscripts that people are basing their opinion on, which they’ve never seen.
Nobody has seen those manuscripts at all. Only copies have been released that they have said are copies of those manuscripts. that’s the Sinaiticus and the Vaticanus, two manuscripts that are in the custodial Roman Catholic Church, never seen by outsiders. So if you want to go that route you can, but I don’t think that that’s reliable. There’s a whole other stream of manuscripts which produce a whole another or another of the eastern branch of Christianity, and they’re certainly in those manuscripts and I believe they belong there.
Thank you, Jack, for that call and we’re now going to go to Mary in the overhear. Florida over toward Daytona Beach and Mary, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Good morning. I’m calling you concerning your statement that children would not be taken during the rapture unto the age of accountability. And the reason I’m calling on that is because I feel that we are all born into sin, but we are born into the sin of Adam. And the sin of Adam, you are not held accountable for at the throne of God.
or how to countable for your own sins, what you commit. So children beyond the age of accountability don’t differentiate good from evil. So they are only under the sin of Adam and the blood of Jesus Christ at the cross of Calvary covers them for the sin of Adam. So they have no sin because they cannot account for good and evil under that age. So they would go in the rapture. And I don’t know, maybe you have a Bible verse that would back up something that would say they wouldn’t go.
But I feel that they would go during the rapture. Okay, now Mary, I agree with you that children under the age of accountability are under the blood and would go to heaven. No doubt about it, David had a son that was born to him by Bathsheba. The Lord took that child, the child became ill. And for seven days, David prayed and fasted that God would spare the child’s life. But when the child died seven days old, David said the child will not return to me, but I’ll go to be with that child.
So we know David was saved and David obviously has that child in heaven with him and will be there for all eternity. And what a great comfort that is for believers who lose a child or for anybody who loses a child to know that at least the Bible teaches the children under the age of accountability go to heaven. in Samuel 1223. That’s a great verse. Now, the difference here at the Rapture is that life is going to continue on.
If God is going to rapture out children under the age of accountability, He would have to take all children. That would mean unsaved and saved alike. And so that would be very disruptive because there would be no children left. And yet the Bible tells us that life is going to continue on and they will marry and buy and sell and all those things are described in Matthew 24 that will happen during the tribulation period. And so I believe that if children will be taken and every child on the planet will be taken, not just the children of Christians, but I believe that all would be taken, but I don’t believe any would be taken.
And it’s not really a matter of going to heaven or not. It’s a matter of rapturing out those that are believers, that are members of the body of Christ, that you have to be born again to become a member of the body of Christ. If those children die because of the neglect or whatever, then in a few days or shortly thereafter they would immediately join us in heaven because if they’re under the age of accountability they would be saved.
I don’t believe that they’ll be raptured and we’ll just have to wait and see and I would like to say that it would be wonderful if you’re right Mary. I have a granddaughter just 14 months old and obviously every parent, grandparent worries about those little ones but I believe that God is going to do the right thing and we’ll just have to trust him but that’s my reason and my answer I believe that life is going to continue on and it’s not an issue of whether they’re going to be saved or not.
If they die, they’re going to be saved. But being raptured is another ball game. And I believe that they will, and I know every mother just hates that answer, but I try to be as honest as I can about the thing. Life is going to continue on. Once we are raptured out, the tribulation period will unfold. The Bible says in Matthew 24 that they will marry and give in marriage and buy and sell and eat and drink and so on.
Right up until the day that Christ will come back at the Second Coming, just as they did in the days of the flood. And then all unbelievers at that point will be killed and only believers will be left behind to live into the Millennial Kingdom. But babies would not be taken out. Life is going to continue. Families will continue and it will be uninterrupted. But the only ones raptured out will be those that are saved, that have become born again, that are members of the body of Christ, the bride of Christ, and be caught up to meet up with the Lord and then the tribulation period will be in their way.
Well, I respect your opinion and I hope you’re right. Well, from what I’ve read in the Bible and stuff, I still strongly disagree with you on that subject. Okay. I do feel that you’re covered under the blood of Christ and even if all children wore a wrap shirt up, their life would go on, life would go on here on earth, but it would go on. The Holy Spirit would be gone. These children that would be left behind of believing parents would have no way of finding Christ.
So, therefore, the only way they would find them is if they died and then they went to have it. And I feel that as a young mother having a small child, that it would encourage a mother. It would encourage young people not to believe because they wouldn’t want to leave. I wouldn’t want to leave my grandson here and go. I would rather stay and die with it. I understand. And I don’t think it’s a matter of, you know, whether, you know, believers, It makes a difference if children are going to go, children are going to go, period.
And I hope you’re right, Mary, and thank you for that call. But in any case, my view is that they will not be taken. I know that it’s not a popular answer, but I don’t try to give answers based on how many people will agree with me. All right, we’re going to go to JC in St. Petersburg and JC, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Yes, thanks, Dr. Hank. My question is if in regards to salvation, don’t you identify yourself as who you are, you are born and sin, needing a Savior.
When you believe in Christ, you can certainly, there are those who can mentally ascend to the fact of the gospel but never be saved in other words there has to be a transfer of trust. Is that correct? Yeah, that’s right. You have to trust Christ to be saved. I was raised in church and I always acknowledged the facts of the life of Christ. I believed that he lived and died and was buried, rose again from the dead, died to pay for sins and all of that.
But I never had understood that I had to personally trust him as my Savior to be saved. So when at 18 that’s when I trusted Christ. I was led to believe I had to work on way to heaven, but I never had a problem with the facts that I sent it to concerning the life of Christ, but that didn’t save me. I had to be saved when I trusted Christ and that’s what I did at 18. Yeah, Dr. Heng, how would you best in witnessing to the unbeliever?
How would you best describe to that person how you actually did to Christ? Well it’s from whatever you previously trusting in, if anything, to trusting Christ as Savior. I give illustrations just like a chair when you rest your weight upon that chair. When you sit down and you take your weight off of the floor and rest your weight totally upon the chair, you’ve trusted the chair. And when you take your feet off the floor in the sense of whatever you may be trusting and trust Jesus as the one who will support you and save you and take you into heaven.
It’s then that you’re saved. At that moment when you put your total trust in what Christ did for you at the cross, by faith alone in Christ alone, in His shed blood, the moment you trust Him, God saves you. Just like the dying thief, that’s a great illustration. You have two thieves. One believes one doesn’t. The one that trusted Christ is the one that God saved. He simply relied upon Christ. He said, Lord, remember me when you come into your kingdom.
And He placed His trust in Christ to take Him into that afterlife and to be with Christ in that kingdom that Christ was going to have. He obviously believed that Christ would come back from the dead, that He would have a kingdom, and He wanted to be included and He trusted Christ to get Him there. Yeah. I guess so, why not in witnessing to the unbeliever? If I, using that terminology, transfer your trust, that’s pretty sound, wouldn’t you say?
I would say it’s good. I like the phrase Christ died that’s history. Christ died for me, that’s salvation. So you can believe in the historical facts of Christ, but to be saved, you must trust that he died for you. Yeah, amen. Okay. Thank you, brother. All right. Thank you, JC. And we have Benjamin in Clearwater. And Benjamin, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the earth. Good morning, Dr. Hank. You have a question? Yes. My question is, as you know, John chapter 3 explained to us how we born again.
Yes, it does. Now, when we born again, our flesh is still being seen, but our spirit, practice is seen our our our our our spirit can not sing no more Well, what happens is you have a new birth that is incapable of sinning when you trust Christ It says in 1 John 3 9 that whosoever is born of God. That haha commits sin It says because God’s seed remains any many can not sin because he’s born of God So the new birth is sinless and cannot sin but yet we still have the old birth with us until we physically die and until as long as we’re in this body We’ll still find that we have sinned.
I believe that we can sin with our old nature. We’re body, soul and spirit, but the new birth, which is of the Spirit of God, cannot sin. Whether the Norwegian is in our way spirit, even when we are seen in flesh, in the spirit, we are not seen no more. well i don’t know if i’d agree with that it says over in his great birth over in second-century seven one it says having therefore uh… these promises do you love let us cleans ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit so apparently uh…
the spirit can sin uh… as uh… while we’re still in this uh… human body and that verse seems to indicate that we need to constantly be cleansing our our flesh and spirit We’ve got to go to break and so hold on, we’ll be back for a second half hour. No go away, Dr. Anglister will be right back. Go away, Bibleline will be back in a moment. To pledge your support for Bibleline, give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771.
Alright, I’m Dr. Anglister and this is Bible and great to be with you today. Thanks again for tuning in and again thank all of you who pray for and give the Bibleline. Would you consider maybe giving a dollar for every program you listen to? If every listener did that, I think we’d have adequate funds to not only do what we’re doing, but to reach out and expand and reach the world. It’s just a matter of lots of people getting involved.
If you could get involved with us and be a partner with us and pray for us, it would be greatly appreciated. Consider that for every day that you listen give a dollar and in that would be great if you could just give a dollar for every day of the month on me wonderful But in any case, we’re not trying to get your money. We’re really trying to get the gospel on I believe that there’s an urgency time is running out and Crisis coming back and we need to get Serious while we still have time and you can send a gift by mail to Bibleline at at 4811 George Road, you can call and get that address or we’ll send you an envelope with our address on it.
You can also of course call and give my credit card over the phone. Many prefer to do that. It makes it quick and easy and if you are considering giving gift to Bible and it would be greatly appreciated. There’s no gift too small. Some people think they have to send a large gift. We appreciate those larger gifts. It really helps us a lot. But if you could give a small gift regularly, that would also be very, very helpful to us because those small gifts add up and enable us to be able to pay the bills.
Again, we don’t pay any salaries. I don’t get a salary nor does any of our staff. We’re all volunteers here to get this program out. So as far as the value for the money, I don’t think there’s any ministry that gets more value because all of the funds go into getting the program out and it’s expensive. To be on radio is expensive and all the associated expenses that go with that, please pray for us and pray for me. And we’re excited about this brand new year and what God is going to be doing through Bibleline and hopefully it will continue to be a blessing to you that are listening.
And if you would consider praying for us, that would be excellent. Put us on your prayer list. If you could become aomsky partner and financially help Bibleline, that would also be greatly appreciated. And I want to thank you in advance for being a partner with us. We’re now going to go back to the stations that have been on break. Do the second half of Bibleline. And if your station doesn’t carry that, you can find us on the internet. Go to BibleLineMinistries.org.
on the spinning globe and you’ll be connected to the radio show. Here we go with the second half. Don’t go away. Stay tuned and we’ll do part two right now. Would you like to help Bibleline continue in your area? You can. Just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Now here again is Dr. Hank Lindstrom. Alright, we’re back for a night break and this is Bibleline. It’s exciting to be with you. All of our phone lines are lighted up.
We have lots of off-air questions. We’ve got plenty to keep us busy here and hopefully you’re enjoying the Bibleline program. Again, we want you to know that we’re on every day, Monday through Friday. We’re on many stations across North America from the state of New York all the way down here to Florida and We would hope that you would pray for Bibleline. We are excited about the future and are trusting that God will do great things in this coming year.
And we’re looking forward to offering new ways to benefit from the Bibleline resources and programs that we have available. And we’ll be talking about those things throughout the year, including some new classes. I’ll be teaching and those will be available. and those will be available on CD and DVD. And if you’re in the local area, you can come by and actually sit in. You’re welcome to come by on our third Sunday dinner here at Calvary. We have a lunch right after the morning service.
And you could be my guest. Come and bring your Bible, your family, your appetite. And join us on the third Sunday. The month this month, it’ll be the 21st. And come at 10.30, join the Morning Worship Service. And when I’m finished with the message, we’ll head back to our educational building and have a wonderful feast. and enjoy the fellowship and the food and each other. It’ll be wonderful. You’re welcome to come. If you would consider not only praying for Bibleline but also maybe giving.
If you just gave a dollar for every program you listen to, if every listener did, we’d have more than enough, I’m sure, to be able to expand Bibleline out and take care of the present needs that we have. Again, we don’t have a piggy bank, we don’t have a reserve account, We don’t pay any salaries. I don’t get a salary. We all volunteer ourselves to this ministry. We believe it’s so important that there’s an urgency to get the gospel out and time is running out.
Christ is returning and we would love to have you join with us. Would you join hands with us and say, I’ll be a part of the Bibleline ministry and no gift is too small. If you just say, well, I only listen five times this month and send five dollars in, that would be wonderful. If you listen 10 days, send $10 in. That would be great. If every listener gave a little bit, we would really be in great shape and we trusted God will lay that on your heart.
We’re going to go to the phone lines. We have so many people on that all of our lines are blinking and we’re going to go first to Vicki in Tampa, Florida and Vicki, you’re on the Bibleline program. Greetings Pastor. Happy New Year. same to you. Thank you. My question is regarding Colossians chapter 4 verse 5. And this scripture was referenced from St. Matthew chapter 10 when Jesus had instructed the 12 disciples and sent them forth. And verse 16, he had given them the instruction to be wise and serpents.
That’s where the Colossians 4-5 reference was given, but it says, walking wisdom towards them that I was out redeeming the time. Yes. Can you give me a little insight in, you know, what’s that? Well, obviously we need to be smart in trying to win the loss. They have really, basically, if they’re unsaved, they don’t have any spiritual knowledge, generally. They don’t know much about the Bible. many times they’ve been stung or turned off by religions, whatever that means, and therefore we need to be smart in our approach to them.
And then it says redeeming. Redeem means to deliver by paying a price. So we need to redeem the time in other words, buy up valuable time and use the opportunities that come our way to be able to bring the gospel to the lost. And one of the things that we might be alert to here in our wisdom is that most people get saved around some kind of event in their life. A birth, a death, a birthday, a graduation, an accident, a surgery.
Whenever there’s something significant going on, maybe in your neighbor’s life, their child is graduating, that’s a good time to intercept them with a gospel. give them a book or a CD or some kind of help at that time or if they go to the hospital, bring them a devotional booklet, maybe a track that would have the gospel in it, maybe explain to them how to be saved and so on. Those are times of great opportunity and if we’re wise we’ll capitalize on those events that are happening in the lives of those that are lost so we might win under Christ and buy up that opportunity.
Don’t let it go by and say, well I’ll do this two weeks from now when the urgency for them may be passed and they may not be as interested or open to hear the gospel. So this is a this is a be what it is to be wise and even with your own children. There are times when they will listen. And there are times when they don’t listen. If you’re a parent, you know what I’m talking about. And all of a sudden there’s a window of opportunity when you’re curious about something.
And that’s your opportunity to talk and explain and so on. So if there’s a door that opens where they’re curious about heaven or about death or about whatever, I remember in my son’s life, there was a time where driver long and there was a place where they made tombstones. and he was curious about that. We had a great discussion about death, but it all came out of the fact that he saw this place where they made the tombstones. And so I took advantage and we talked in the car for quite a while about life after death and so on in the tombstone and whatever and it was an opportunity that I’ll never forget because the door was open and I used that opportunity to do to explain things to him about eternity.
Well, that is a blessing. Thank you so much. And just to tap onto that regard in our children, that is so true because I remember having a conversation with my son when he was younger, and he wanted a tattoo, and I was just explaining to him why he really did not need to have a tattoo. And it was years later when he was like 23, that he gave me the explanation that he gave to basically girls, basically girls who inquired why he didn’t have a tattoo and he said well you know years ago my mom said something and it just stuck with me and I didn’t even know he was really listening and it was you wouldn’t write on it would you go and put graffiti on a church wall?
Look at that. He said and he said no I said well your body is a temple why would you put graffiti on it and I never even knew that he really heard it. Look at that. Such a blessing. That’s a thank you so much. Well Vicki you’re so welcome and also of course the Bible verse Leviticus 1928 says you’re not to print any marks on your body So that’s a great Bible verse as well. They might keep in your arsenal for future use Can you repeat that Leviticus?
1928 1928 thank you so much. All right, Vicki God bless you God bless you and happy new year to you and all of our listeners out there We’re going to Sam in Lakeland, Florida and Sam. Welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air Hey, uh, uh, and enjoy listening to your program and everything. I got a couple comments that I’d like to say. It was a guy listening to the other day was talking, he called in and he was talking to you about, uh, Heron, and he was talking about something about Heron, he said somebody started calling Heron how kind of asked this question.
And he said something about the fact that it was, if I understood it right, he said something about the fact that, uh, it’s a skeleton shame. A Christian, I mean, a person saying he ain’t saved, you have more time on hand, you get more time than you do to Christian. But to my understanding, I would think you spoke to me because people that say they spoke the gliding paper to Christian to be, hear the word and everything. Which when Harold, I admit how, I call him really when he talked for Alpha, he had no Alpha, and he also told you, he said you’re offering this every week.
This guy was talking, and he didn’t say, he said you might think you want, I don’t know, but he didn’t say he did think you’re not offering. And so I think he should have been, I asked you telling you, you’re on a good job, but for some reason, you’re just going to try to tell us and explain to the law and everything else. And I think that’s wonderful. And also I’d give a comment, the lady was saying this morning, I think he was right about the baby, because God said when he come back, he’d come back at the people that is a Christian, the one that willing to be saved.
And a child, if he died, yeah, he would go to hell. But we don’t have life in our hand. God had life in our hand. So when she said she don’t want to go there, with one of the lead without a grandchild. She gonna lead any high without a grandchild. When she die, she gonna have to leave where she wanna go or not. So you’re right what you’re saying that caragold because we die every day and leave our children here when we want to or not.
So, but the point is, I thank you for doing a good job. And I like good and clean, I like the answers. You can’t have what you’re not. We wouldn’t say everybody agree or anything. You say, but I thank you for doing a good job. Also, I wanna say, when I was talking about Christmas the other day, I just talked about Christmas. We spoke to praise their Lord seven days a week. And every Sunday we come together to praise the Lord, every Sunday in the Spirit.
But when I was talking about it, in the Spirit we praise Him seven days a week. So we take out a day Sunday that prays and everybody come together and prays. And I was the only thing I was saying was for a birthday everybody should take out another day like on Christmas to say, and the way I understand it, of course I want to ask you this, when people come to celebrate Jesus, I mean, to celebrate the birthday, When they come to celebrate being best, that means they come in their worship Jesus and praise them just like you know the Sunday They don’t go wishing to tell them they go wishing Jesus up and so that’s what’s wrong with our having a special day But once a year which is Christmas for the praise the Lord Which is gonna praise him in a high least we should praise him in high on the kind of praise him seven days a week
So that’s my comment and thank you. I want to thank I agree with Tim. Thanks a lot I don’t have anything to add to that. We have Frank in Lakeland, Florida and Frank welcome to Bible in. Good morning. You’re on the air Frank. Oh, thank you. I’m getting a relay here. You got to turn that radio down. You’re so very much. It has been a long time coming. I’ve been listening. Well, look at that. Oh, you’re finally got through and you’re on the air right now.
I only did it. I know for heaven. You can be saved. Okay. There are Frank five crowns that the Bible mentions. One is called the teacher’s crown. First of all, Peter 5’4″, called the crown of glory to those that would teach the word of God to someone else, maybe your family, your children, maybe a Sunday school class, in some way begin to teach the Bible to others, you’ll get the crown of glory. There are those who will endure testings or trials in their life and still be faithful to the Lord.
James 1, 12 says, blessed are they which endure trials or temptations and they’re going to receive the crown of life, a special crown given to those that are willing to stand tall for God even though they’re going through trials. We find that there’s a crown called the Crown Incorruptible given to those that keep their bodies disciplined and live focused for the Lord and like an athlete training for the Olympic Games, which were in view in the passage here in 1 Corinthians 927.
It tells us that that person would receive a crown, not like they got any Olympic Games, which was a corruptible crown, usually a laurel wreath, but it would be an incorruptible crown, one that would be around forever. There is also the crown for soul-winning, 1st Thessalonians to 1920, talk about the crown of rejoicing, which comes by leading someone to Christ. There’s also the crown of righteousness in 2 Timothy 4, 8, which if you look for Christ’s return and live your life in view of that, you’ll receive that crown.
So that’s a little bit of a tip off there, as the things that we can do. of them will earn a different crown in heaven and there will be crowns given out for those that have been faithful in different areas of their Christian life. I’m going to say it’s real quick enough. So, in this lifetime, we can reap some of those by our works on this. Absolutely. Our salvation is a gift that was purchased by Christ’s death. and have a good day.
in heaven are earned by what we do here. Christ speaks about that in the Sermon on the Mountain in Matthew 6. He talks about in verse 19, don’t have your focus on earthly treasures, but Verse 20 says, label yourselves treasures in heaven. And we can do that by investing of our time and our talents and our treasures, our monies for the Lord. And as you give of your time to the Lord, setting aside time, maybe to read the word of God and to pray and maybe attend church.
As you set aside your talents, if you have any abilities or talents, you could use for God’s glory. We had some fellows that are great at painting, and they came and painted our church auditorium for us, free of charge. And wow, what a great investment of their talent for God here in blessing our church with their talent. And then there are those who invest of their finances and their treasures. And in all those ways, you’re laying up treasures in heaven the Bible speaks about.
So we could all be giving to the Lord, not in order to be saved, but because we’re grateful for what He gave for us. He gave His life at the cross. I’ll listen to you. Wonderful, Frank. God bless you. Have a happy New Year. That was Frank in Lakeland, Florida. We have Bonnie in Richmond, Virginia. And Bonnie, welcome to Bibleline your own ear.
Bonnie, are you still there? You’re not Bonnie though. You’re Bonnie. I’m Bonnie. Okay. I didn’t, I was spelling here was different than I thought they go ahead. You’re on the air. I’m on air right now with me. Uh huh. Um, I guess. Oh, and then, uh, well, you know, they do mix you up. Don’t they? I tell you. I hate that. But in John one fall that says to as many as received him. So it’s, uh, uh, I’m not.
valid thing to receive Christ, but it tells you how in the end of John 1.12 it says by believing or trusting on his name. In other words, recognizing who Christ is and what he did for you. When you trusted he died and shed his blood at the cross with buried in rose again from the dead, God saves you and it’s in that way that you receive him. So John 1.12 defines how we receive Christ by trusting that he died for us.
John 1.12. John 112. Yes, sir. Okay, and the next question is from first Timothy 5 16 through 18 and the reason I’m asking is far as you know your regular family and the family of your family of God. Okay, let me go to that passage. Okay. And that’s and that’s in first Timothy yeah first Timothy five sixteen to eighteen a please all right i’m uh… there right now it says here if uh… any man or woman that believe it have widows let them uh…
relieve them uh… and not not the church be charged uh… that it may relieve them that are widows indeed So it’s basically saying take care of your family members. Now today we put people in a home, whereas the biblical thing was to, you know, and today families are all divided. It used to be that in the family you’d have grandma and grandpa and the children and the grandchildren and everybody was at least in close proximity if not living right next door to each other or in a huge or large home.
And everybody kind of took care of one another, but today we kind of isolate ourselves from one another. But basically the biblical principle is you take care of your mom and dad when they get older as they took care of you, well you were in your youth. And so of course today some do that by putting them in a home, but there’s not that time of fellowship either separated then and so on. It’s wonderful if it’s possible for you to do it to take care of them in your home.
Well, I think that, you know, if you can, as, you know, not necessarily you take care of the whole extended family, but family members ought to take care of family as much as possible if you can. And that doesn’t mean you just have people who don’t work, stay at your house and you feed them all. But it means that, you know, if they’re disabled or not able to, or their age doesn’t permit, that as best as you can to try to help them in a system in their old age.
Thank you, Dr. Nelson. You’re very welcome and that was from Richmond, Virginia. Boy, we have lots of offer questions. I need to go ahead and grab some of those. We have Greg in Tampa, Florida, leaving this offer question. Do you have a theory as to what the seven thunders are mentioned in Revelation chapter 10? Are and why God had John mentioned them at all since he was not allowed to write what they said. I really have no idea what those judgments are.
But apparently it lets us know that there’s a whole other series of judgments like the seven seal judgments, the seven thunder, the seven trumpet judgments, and the seven vile judgments. There are another set of seven that will occur and for whatever reason God doesn’t tell us what they are. But we’ll have to leave it at that, Greg. I do have a series on the book of Revelation on CD, 12 CDs that cover all 22 chapters. I recommend that highly if you would like to do a study on the book of Revelation.
We have JT in Powhatan, New York. he calls in and says I He said, something true during the thousand years after the tribulation that we will be having babies. And they will need to be saved. Well, we won’t have babies as believers. We’ll come back in our glorified bodies. And the Bible says in Matthew 22.30 that will not be given in marriage or be married or have children. those that are saved during the tribulation, JT, that survived the judgments of the tribulation and living in the millennium will still be in their mortal bodies.
They will have children and their children will marry and have children and so on and they will need to be saved. But we won’t be having a marriage or sex once we have died. We’ll come back in our resurrection bodies. Thank you, JT, up there in New York, and hopefully that answers your question. We have Claude off here from Brampton, Ontario, Canada. He says, why is it that although we are not saved by works, yet Christians say it’s a sin to drink a beer or wine and so on.
Well, the answer is that even though we’re not saved by works and salvation is the gift of God, we are to live our lives in a way that glorify the Lord. So if you read 1 Corinthians 619 it says what? Don’t you know? Don’t you know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have of God and you’re bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit which belong to Him.
So basically whenever you do any activity ask yourself is this going to glorify the Lord? Is this going to be a good testimony? Is this going to impact somebody to bring them to Christ or will it turn them away as a Christian testimony. That’s the rule. First Corinthians 6, 19 and 20 are powerful verse. Off-air David in St. Petersburg, Florida calls in and leaves this off-air question. What was the crime that Jesus was crucified for? And the answer was, or is, the Jews brought him to Pilate and they wanted to kill him because of blasphemy, because he was claiming to be God and they rejected that claim, but he of course is God.
The Romans cared less about that. And so the Romans crucified him on the charge that was brought that he was claiming to be a king. And so the crime that Pilate had written above the cross was Jesus, King of the Jews. And that was the crime, which was treason because only, rather, only the emperor in Rome was to be the ruler. And for some else to come along with King, that was treasonous to the Roman Empire. So hopefully that answers your question.
charges, the Jews charged him for blasphemy, the Roman government charged him for treason and claiming to be a king. Off-air Sally in Michigan calls in and leaves this off her question. In Mount Kai 4-5, who was the prophet that went before the great Lord? Was it Elijah? Well, I was talking about Elijah coming back, Sally, during the tribulation period after the Rapture Elijah will come back before the great and dreadful day of the Lord. The Great and Dreadful Day of the Award is the last three and a half years of the Tribulation period.
So in the first three and a half years Elijah will be back and be preaching. You can see that also in Revelation 11 where it talks about two prophets coming back and preaching during those 42 months, the first half of the Tribulation. The other one I believe is Moses. We have Ken in Stentville, New York, and he says, please give scripture that proves that tongues no longer exist. Well, 1 Corinthians 13 verse 8, Ken says that tongues would cease.
It tells us they would cease in verse 10, 1 Corinthians 13, when the New Testament record was complete. We have a wonderful book written by Merle Unger called The New Testament Teaching on Tongues that goes through all of this and just absolutely nails the coffin shut on the whole issue. Tongues ceased at the end of the first century when the New Testament was completed with the book of Revelation written around 80, 96. And what is done today is a gibberish.
