And the phone number is 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Jesus, when He died, went down into the heart of the earth.
In Matthew chapter 12, we read in verse 40 that as Jonah was three days and three nights in the fishes belly, social and Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. And so we know that Christ went down into the heart of the earth and that’s where Paradise was. Luke 23, 43 says, Christ talking to the dying thief that believed, today thou shalt be with me in Paradise. So if we connect the dots, we know that Paradise was in the heart of the earth, that Christ said he would be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth at 72 hours and that he would meet obviously the dying thief there in paradise.
So paradise was in the heart of the earth and that’s where all of the saved of the Old Testament went and stayed until Christ made the full payment for their sin. They had what we call a layaway salvation. It was laid away for them, but they couldn’t actually enjoy it until the payment for sin had been made. And so when Christ died, He went down into the heart of the earth, proclaimed liberty. And let me read a most amazing passage over in Ephesians chapter 4 in verse 8 where it says, Wherefore He saith, when He ascended up on high, He, speaking of Christ, led captivity, captive.
It talks here about a group of people that Christ led captive up on high, that is to heaven, and those were the believers of the Old Testament that had been waiting for their salvation. Verse 9 tells us, now he that us ended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? The same thing we just read in Matthew 40 that Christ would be in the heart of the earth for 72 hours, 3 days and 3 nights.
Then it says in verse 10, he that descended is the same also that ascended far above all heavens that he might fill all things. So we know that Christ before he ascended, descended first into the lower parts of the earth. He said he’d be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. And amazing. This is when the Old Testament saints got to go up to heaven. David talked about it in the 16th Psalm. He said that he would go to Shiel.
Shiel is the place where Paradise was. Shiel is the Hebrew word, S-H-E-O-L. Hades is the Greek word, H-A-D-E-S. They are equivalent. Both of them speak about the hollow place in the heart of the earth where the saved and the lost went. And the lost are still there. There was a place of torment, and it’s not a purgatory. They can’t work their way out of it. They’re going to wind up eventually in hell, but there was also a place called Paradise, a place of comfort that you can read about in Luke chapter 16, beginning in verse 19, where two men died, a rich man who was lost and was in Hades in Flamin’ Porment, and then Lazarus, a beggar that actually gathered crumbs from the table of the rich man and had a very poor existence, but yet was saved.
He went to paradise in the heart of the earth. They couldn’t pass from one place to the other. There was an impassable gulf between the two places, but yet they could see and hear across this impassable gulf. Of course, the saved have been taken out and are now in heaven, but the lost are still in the heart of the earth. The apostles’ creed is wrong. It says that that Christ descended into hell. That’s not true. Christ descended into Hades or paradise, but Christ never paid for any sin after his death on the cross.
On the cross he said it is finished. Obviously he meant that our sin debt was totally paid for and our sins were paid for totally right there on the cross. It is finished that happened on the cross. Christ proclaimed liberty in the heart of the earth in paradise to those that were the Old Testament saints waiting for their salvation to be paid for. Now one of the things that bothers me, for example, I have the new living translation in my hand, neatly really a nice binding, a nice print, nice pages, a wonderful soft feel I love it.
But the story in Ephesians completely deletes what happened that we read about in the King James that Christ went into the heart of the earth. Let me read to you from the living translation which hopefully you only use as a commentary but I wouldn’t give it much credence. It says, notice it says, this is now from the living translation, notice As it says he ascended, this means that Christ first came down to the lowly world in which we live.
The same which came down is the one who ascended higher than all the heavens. Well notice they just bring him down to the surface of the earth, nothing about descending into the lower parts of the earth or going to the heart of the earth. They totally ripped the story right out of the Bible. The new living translation is really terrible. In fact, every time the word repent occurs in the new living translation, somebody just took a word processor and said, turn from your sins.
The word from the Greek doesn’t mean turn from your sins. It’s metanoia. It means a change of mind. And yet they give the false meaning for repent of turn from your sin and they place that everywhere repent occurs in the new living translation. It says, turn from your sin. Acts 2.38 Peter said instead of repent which means to change your mind the Greek word is metanoia They say in the new living translation and Peter said turn from your sins doesn’t say that and So this is what we face with some of the new translations But Christ went into the heart of the earth and the Bible had predicted this Long before it ever happened in the Old Testament that Christ would come and that he would lead those in the heart of the earth out of this place where the believers were waiting for their sins to be paid for.
In Isaiah chapter 61 verse 1 it talks about Christ. In fact you have all three members of the Godhead all together here in one verse. It says the Spirit, that’s the Holy Spirit, of the Lord God that’s . . . . . . . . . He says, ìThe Lord has anointed me to preach good tidings unto the me.î He has sent me to bind the brokenhearted hearted and to proclaim liberty to the captives and the opening of the prison to them that are bound.
What prison is he talking about? And these captives, what are they? Well, this is what he says. ìWell, this is what he says to me.î what we read in Ephesians, that Christ led a group of captives. That’s not even in the new living translation. The new living translation just takes a white out and just wipes out the whole story. Christ, according to the new living translation, didn’t go to the heart of the earth, didn’t lead any group of captives anywhere.
But here in Isaiah, the prophet said that Christ was to proclaim liberty to the captives and the opening of the prison to them that are bound. Jesus has the keys to Hades or Shiel according to the book of Revelation. And when he died and paid for our sins and said on the cross it is finished, then he descended for 72 hours into the heart of the earth, into paradise. That’s where the dying thief met him. And he proclaimed liberty to those Old Testament saints saying, Now your sins are fully paid for.
Now you can go up to heaven with me. And then he opened the door to this prison and took all of those people in the heart of the earth captive up to heaven while what an amazing story. By the way, Jesus Christ was in the grave 72 hours. Since we know he was placed in the grave at sundown, that means 72 hours later he came back out of the grave which would mean sundown and we believe Christ rose at sundown.
That’s 72 hours after he’s placed in the grave. That would be Saturday at sundown, which by the way is the beginning of Sunday night. The first day of the week began Saturday at, it still does. The Jewish people count their day from sundown to sundown and Saturday at 6 p.m. All of a sudden the day changes from Saturday to Sunday. Sunday night begins Saturday night at 6 p.m. And so Christ rose exactly when the Sabbath ended, exactly at the end of the 72 hours that he had been in the grave and in the heart of the earth.
And then he rose right at the very beginning of the first day, which was Saturday at 6 p.m., which was Sunday night as it began. And in the morning there was simply the discovery of the empty tomb. I’m Dr. Anchlinseter. I hope you are a believer in Christ and have trusted him as your only hope of heaven if you have. Today, this side of the cross, it’s absent from the body, present with the Lord. We no longer go to the heart of the earth, but the unsaved still go there and wait in Hades until after the thousand-year reign of Christ, when they will be brought up out of the heart of the earth, assigned a degree of punishment in hell according to their works and cast into the everlasting lake of fire, which is the final hell.
Nobody, nobody, nobody is in hell yet. Everybody who dies who’s unsaved goes to the place of flame and torment in the heart of the earth, and only after Satan and the Antichrist and the False Prophet are cast into hell, and then Satan’s angels. Lastly, members of the human race in Hades are brought up, judged according to their works, assigned a degree of punishment, and cast into the lake of fire. I’m Dr. Hank Lindstrom. This is ByBlind. We’re going to go to the phone lines.
The phone number is 1-800-576-3771. 1-800-576-3771. Alright we have Jacob, a rather, Eden in Port Charlotte calling in off air, leaving this question and I believe I answered it yesterday but he couldn’t hear it because he only gets the first half of the program. So Eden in Port Charlotte, he asked about Jacob fighting with an angel who was God and the answer is that this was a preincarnate appearance of Christ. If you saw in all of his power and all of his glory you could not survive.
But God in the second eternal person of the Godhead, Jesus revealed himself to man. You see that in the New Testament. Obviously we can survive if we see God in flesh, Jesus. But he fought with Jesus really. He was a and he won. So in any case Jacob did fight with Jesus and Jesus won. He received the hip injury and he limped the rest of his life as a result of that injury. He also, as a second question, is the marriage in court, marriage in court or church, which has got honor and of course I’m not too sure what I understand this question now, but marriage has always been a legal contract between two persons.
And there was a writing of a marriage where the contract was entered into. even in the Old Testament. And for that to be broken, there had to be a writing of divorcement for that marriage to be broken. And that was obviously a marriage that was recognized by God when two came together to commit their lives to each other for the rest of their life. But it was also a legal thing. And so I think both are true. So hopefully that answers your questions we have dug up in pence coliform and dug welcome to my one year on the air he’s a lot of the resistance relevant that’s called yeah we’re talking about the rich man and how and i just heard from the matter christian station and come to call it by the people of the rich man uh…
they could be cast we want to call him davies now when you and i had talked about the soul and someone had said it was an intellect that i said in to be a but that’s what we’re going to do is that it’s pretty good here. We’re going to have a couple of minutes. We’re going to have a couple of minutes. I’m going to have a couple of minutes. I’m going to have a couple of minutes. going to hell.
Well, when death and hell are cast into the lake of fire, I believe this is where the bait is of a fire is for the unbeliever. Now the believer is baptized with the Holy Ghost and the fire talked about in Rev. excuse me in Matthew 3 is the bait of a fire unquenchable. And that’s where the unbeliever is dipped into the lake of fire and it becomes a wandering star to who is reserved the blackness of darkness forever. These people would visualize your own.
unsafe loved ones at the hill by a comet going around the universe for eternity in a burning mass of fire they would be a little more diligent about leaving them to Christ don’t you think brother? Well I think so too and that’s the story of course that we learned there in Luke 16 beginning of verse 19 the rich man himself had five brothers and he wanted somebody to go back in evangelize them because he says lest they should come to this place of torment.
So he was experiencing physical pain and he wanted Lazarus to just bring a drop of water to cool his tongue. And obviously he was in claimant torment and obviously the lost are given their resurrection bodies at the end of the millennium and then they’re judged and given a degree of punishment and cast into that everlasting making fire. Now the problem comes I think because the word Hades is sometimes translated hell which is a mistake. Hades and hell are not the same place and the lost go to Hades and then they’re brought up after Satan is cast into hell and then they’re also cast into hell after they’re assigned a degree of punishment in hell.
This is another question for him brother. thing with Lazarus. Now people call him a parable. My question for them is why did that Ritzman think that Lazarus was going anywhere? What made him think that he could possibly leave that place of damnation and go to his brothers if it was not the Lazarus of John chapter 11? You can talk about that now. Listen from the radio, okay? Okay, now that is the Lazarus in Luke 16 is not the Lazarus that John talks about that Christ rose from the dead over in John 11.
These are two different men. This is a beggar named Lazarus and obviously I probably were a number of people with the name Lazarus. But Lazarus was asked if he could go back up to the earth and witness to his brothers. Of course that was not possible and of course Abraham said that they have the Bible and obviously if they could only read the scriptures, they would have had enough information to be saved, and yet they apparently rejected the scriptures.
And so, you know, people that are lost, even though somebody came back from the dead, would not necessarily believe, because obviously Christ came back from the dead, and yet many did not believe him. What I find interesting is that Abraham here says they have Moses and the prophets. Now Moses wasn’t even born. When Abraham was alive and yet here now Abraham who’s been dead and is in the heart of the earth and has been waiting there like all of the Old Testament saints did until Christ would die on the cross and come down and proclaim liberty and open that prison that they were in up and let them out of the heart of the earth and take them up to heaven.
Notice he obviously is aware of a number of things including the fact that Moses came along later and wrote the first five books of the Bible. the other prophets that gave us the rest of the Old Testament. The Old Testament was complete at the time that Christ came and here Abraham is fully aware of Moses and the prophets and the Old Testament at that point. That’s kind of fascinating to me that when Abraham was living they had not even been born yet.
So I hope that helps, Duggan, thank you for your call and I think Doug has already hung up. We are now going to go to Ken in Clearwater and Ken, walk through the vignon. You’re on the air. Yeah, good morning and thanks so much for you. Again, it’s always very encouraging. I, you know, it’s for me maybe because it’s a little bit different but sort of sailing along and I came to 14 and there’s an if in there that some commentators have implied that this works there.
But if you could explain it, I’ll drop off and listen. Sure, no problem. Thank you, Ken, and it’s Ken in Clearwater 4. I did a series on Hebrews, and you can get the CDs, and I cover all these difficult passages. But it says here, we are my partakers of Christ. The word partaker there in the Greek means companions. And that means it has to do with fellowship. So if we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence, steadfast unto the end.
So it has to do with fellowship, and our walk with the Lord, it doesn’t have to do with our salvation. And so it’s not a salvation verse. So fellowship and the Christian walk is conditional. And notice here, it’s conditional upon our confidence and holding that confidence or assurance of our salvation steadfast to the end. One of the first books I read after I had newly was saved was a book by Harry Ironsides called Full Assurance. What a wonderful book that was for me and that phrase is taken out of the book of Hebrews which Hebrews talks about the power that having full assurance in your Christian life brings.
If you’re not fully assured of your salvation, then you really have nothing to witness about as a Christian. If you aren’t sure about whether you’re saved or not, why would you witness? Would you go up to somebody who’s lost and say, hey, how would you like to be as unsure of my future, of your future as I am of mine? How would you like to be as confused as I am? How would you like to be without any confidence about my eternal life?
And nobody would ever want to listen to you and obviously you wouldn’t even bring it up. So the Bible is saying that having confidence knowing that you’re saved and save forever is obviously brings power in your Christian life and obviously brings you into fellowship with the Lord. And so we are companions or have fellowship with Christ if we keep our confidence, our assurance steadfast under the end of our life. And as we walk in confidence and assurance that the Lord is not going to leave us, He’s not going to forsake us.
That’s a great verse right in Hebrews, Hebrews 13-5, said the Lord will not leave you nor will He forsake you. So you can have great confidence therefore, and that’s what the next verse says. Therefore we could be bold with men because we have confidence with God. Again, I hope that helps and it’s talking about the Christian life, not about the salvation experience. That’s called rightly dividing the word of truth. You have to separate between the two. We have Herb in Sarasota, Florida calls in, leaves this question off here.
What did Jesus mean when he said we needed to do the will of the Father? And did the writers of the Bible know the difference between grape juice and wine? And of course, I’m not too sure which instance where you’re referring to that statement by Christ, but I’m sure I would assume you’re talking about the Garden of Yosemite when he was willing to submit to the will of the Father that he would take the sins of the world upon himself and died of pay for them by his death and shed blood.
The writers of the Bible knowing the difference between Greg, Juice, and Wine, I’m certain they did. You don’t have to be too smart to figure that one out. But in reference to the Lord’s Supper, the word Wine is never used. And the reason why is because why? In order to become wine, you have to have grape juice go through a fermentation process, which is a corruptive process, which destroys the type. The Jews represented Christ’s blood. And Christ’s blood was incorruptible blood, the Bible tells us.
And so if you use wine, you destroy the picture. And I believe it’s wrong to use wine in the Lord’s Supper because it destroys the whole picture. It’s unleavened bread, which speaks of the sinlessness of his body and its grape juice in the Bible. It always says the fresh fruit from the vine, not wine. The word wine is never used in connection with the Lord’s Supper. And so I believe that both speak about His sinlessness, the unleavened bread, His body without sin, and the fresh grape juice, which was a picture of the incorruptible blood of Christ.
It was not wine or it would have been corrupted and destroyed the picture given to us in the Bible. When I ever, I observe the Lord’s Supper, we always use unleavened bread and we use grape juice and not wine. And yet, amazing how many churches use wine. And I think they totally missed the picture of what God wanted you to do and intended for you to see in those elements representing His body and blood that they were sinless. Well, it’s time for that break.
It’s hard to believe it goes so quickly and we’ll come back into a second half of Bibleline. You were on the air.
Yes, Hank, I had a question, a confusion about an answer you gave, the last answer you gave in so far as it applies to 1 Corinthians 11, the 17th through 22 passage when it talks about conduct at the Lord’s Supper. In verse 21 it says, they’re doing it wrong and Paul does not praise them when they, the Lord’s Supper, some of you, you know, one is hungry and another is drunk. And I always thought that meant that the Lord’s Supper was with wine, but it was to be the moderation of the Supper, not in that passage.
Right. I think prior to the Lord’s Supper they had a dinner just like the Lord observed the Passover with the disciples. But when you actually read all of the gospels that talk about the Lord of Supper, it was just the fruit of the vine. It never mentions a word wine. And certainly the Corinthian believers made it a party, I guess. And they brought wine to the dinner who preceded the Lord of Supper. And I believe that’s where it came from.
Is that the same word love feast from Jude 12 when it talks about passage someone else referred to about clouds without rain? Among you eating their love feast, that love feast is not the word for the Lord’s Supper. It possibly might be or the dinner that preceded it. When the believers would come together and eat and fellowship, they would contaminate that. Certainly we see that in these chapters. Thank you Kelly. Makes sense. Thank you very much. All right Kelly in the St.
Pete calling in and we now have Jay in Tampa, Florida and Jay welcome to Bibleline your own ear. Hello. Hi Jay. Hi. Yes, my name is Jay. Hello, can you hear me? I hear you on listening. If you’re listening to the radio. Can you hear me now? I sure do. your radio now you’ll get confused it’s a 20 second delay you got to listen to me on the phone forget your radio okay I’ve walked away from my radio good okay I have two or three questions all about the same thing it’s about heaven all right I’m listening go ahead is heaven A planet.
Is heaven a planet? Well, the answer is no. Heaven is a place in the void, in the north, in our universe, and it doesn’t describe it in any way like that, but it does tell us that heaven is in the north and there is where the Lord sits and runs the universe. There are numerous references to this place in the north and Joe but tells us about a void in the north where there are no stars. This was recently discovered with a 200-inch telescoped mount Palomark, California.
And it’s very vast. It comprises 1% of the visible universe and is large enough, they say, to hold 2,000 Milky Way galaxies. So it’s quite large, but in the north there’s a corridor where there are no stars and that’s where heaven itself is. And there is the New Jerusalem, which the Bible says will come down from heaven to the New Earth after the thousand year reign of Christ and will orbit the New Earth and that’s where we’ll actually live as heaven will come down to the earth.
First verse in the Bible. It says, in the beginning God created the heavens, the heavens, the school, and earth. Okay. And of course that’s when four dimensions were created by God that apparently did not exist before and that’s space and time. Space is three dimensions, length, breadth, and height, and then time. And God operates outside of all four. And we’re bound by those four dimensions, but that’s when the universe came into being. And you know it’s interesting that scientists have really spun all the way around from around the 17th century.
They said the universe had always been, and matter could not be created nor destroyed. A law that they had in chemistry, the law of the conservation of matter, which was pretty true for chemical relations, but that didn’t explain everything in this universe. And of course, we know the Bible taught that the earth and the universe had a beginning, and God created the earth in the beginning. But scientists said, well, the Bible is wrong because matter cannot be created and the universe therefore could not have been brought into existence.
But now, since Einstein, who modified that law into the law, the conservation of mass and energy saying that matter and energy are equatable and that matter can be created out of energy. That’s what the Bible taught back in the book of Jeremiah chapter 10 that God created the universe out of his energy. And now most scientists have bought into the Big Bang that the universe exploded into being in an instant of time. And obviously if the universe had a beginning that means it had a beginner or it points back to God as the creator who began this universe.
So those four dimensions began right then. And apparently before then there was no physical things in this universe and all. There was no, the four dimensions did not exist. Right. Heaven is physical. Yes it is. Christ said in John 14 in my father’s house are many mansions. And so it says I go to prepare a place, PLACE. So it’s a physical place. It’s a physical place, but it’s not. that’s correct said in the beginning he created heaven and her why is it and but uh…
trying to say that earth is a planet and so the heavens are you prepared that out the other planet well i think the reason why is because the earth is the uh… most significant place in the universe you know of all the places there are in the universe which display the handiwork of God. This earth is unique in that God created it with life. This is the place where he put man. So it is unique. I don’t believe there is life anywhere else in the universe outside of God, angelic life, and the special created beings that God made, the serbs, the cherubs, and so on.
But otherwise, there is no life. And two Nobel Prize winning physicists recently wrote a book saying, we’re alone in the universe. There is no other life in this universe. And the stats imply that the probability of having all the uniquenesses of this planet which make life possible as we know it, really, it’s impossible that there would be another one like it anywhere in the universe. For example, you have to have water in liquid form for life to exist as we know it.
That means that narrow spectrum between 32 degrees Fahrenheit and 212 degrees Fahrenheit has to be the temperature range on that surface. That you don’t find on any of the other planets in our solar system, and to our knowledge, we haven’t found one that has that unique temperature range. you have to have water in the liquid form which only can occur during that temperature range. So that’s kind of unique. And it’s amazing how God has designed this earth so that we have the seasons and the gravity is just right.
If we were just a little bit bigger in diameter, you wouldn’t be able to push your body off of the face of the earth because you’d be too heavy. And if the earth were a little bit smaller in diameter, you’d float off into space because you wouldn’t have enough gravity to stick you to the surface. So we’d lose our atmosphere and we’d not have life as we’d know it. Everything is perfect. The diameter of the earth, the rotation of the earth, and just everything that God has made about this earth is rather unique.
Why did God associate places and things like furniture, like choirs, like angels? Well, that’s the big mystery. You can talk to him about it when you get to heaven. This is his plan. I’m just reading what he says in the Bible. But obviously the earth is like a rare diamond in the universe. God created it especially for that purpose. The reason between what God made is heaven and that’s not the phenomenon, that’s not the same thing, that’s not the same place.
Absolutely not. Heaven is beyond all the visible universe. According to Ephesians that we read earlier today, it says that Christ, when he led the believers of the Old Testament out of the heart of the earth where they had been waiting until until Christ died at the cross. He took them beyond all the visible heavens. That is probably, sometimes I estimate, four trillion light years away. And of course, because God is not bound by time, he made that trip instantaneously, stepping out of these four dimensions and taking them through into other dimensions to get there.
If he had to travel by the limitations that we have, Christ would still be on his way to heaven with those captives. And it’s only been 2,000 years, which is a very small amount of four trillion light years that it would take to get to heaven itself. So it’s a long distance. And you have to be a God who is outside of those dimensions to be able to accomplish the things that the Bible said would happen. Earth is a planet.
that’s that’s good in the well you know to get my paper on that one to go to my website and look at the articles that i’ve written and look up heaven and i have a whole article of several pages that describes heaven as the bible describes it and uh… check that out and if not if you don’t have internet access call my operators after the program and we’ll send it out to you free charge. Would you do that? Sure, absolutely.
So call back right after the program and get our operators to send you that sheet out on heaven. Thank you Jay, we appreciate your questions and sounds like you’re starting to dig in to your Bible, that’s great. Off the air we have Greg in Tampa, Florida and he says, I know you believe the Jewish Third Temple will be built during the tribulation period after the rapture. Please elaborate on the scripture verses you would use to support this belief. Well obviously if you go to Daniel 9 it talks about three temples.
It talks about the temple that had been destroyed by Nebuchadnezzar how that another temple would be built, as it says in Daniel 925, a commandment would be given to restore and rebuild Jerusalem after Nebuchadnezzar had destroyed it. That temple was existed when Christ died, then it describes how the Jerusalem and the temple would be destroyed in Daniel 926 when Christ came the first time to pay for our sins. And then it describes in verse 27 of Daniel 9, a third temple where sacrifices will be resume again.
The anacrist will cause those sacrifices to cease in the middle of the tribulation period three and a half years in. The book of Hagai in chapter two describes three temples. We’ve only had two so far. The first temple built by Solomon, the second one built by those who returned after the Babylonian captivity. And now the third one will come up after the rapture during the tribulation period, but if you turn to the book of Haggai in your Old Testament, it describes three temples, a former temple, the one that was built by Solomon, a temple that would be the second temple, that was the one that it describes being built that was highly inferior to the first temple, and a third temple that would be greater than the first two.
It would be the greatest of all, which is the millennial temple, which will be the one built during the tribulation period and will then also be refurbished by Christ and made to be the greatest of all. So if you turn the Haggai chapter 2, it tells us here, as he tells the people about how that they needed to remember how splendorous the first temple was. It says, who has left among you that saw this house in her first glory?
So it’s talking about those that might be still living who had seen the temple of Solomon that hadn’t been destroyed. Now they had rebuilt a second temple and he says, how do you see it now? Is it not in your eyes in comparison as of nothing? In other words, this is a pretty inferior rebuilding of the temple. It didn’t look anything like the first temple, but then it talks about Christ coming back. And then it says, the glory of this latter house, which is the third temple, will be greater than all the previous two.
So there’s a lot of references that I could go on and on, but there’s many references to the third temple. Thank you Greg. I just gave you a little bit, but if you just read those two chapters you’d see in the Old Testament long long ago it talks about three temples. The third one hasn’t existed yet. Malachi also does the same thing. We’re now going to go to Jim and Tampa. He leaves an offer a question and Jim says, does the Antichrist have a mom and a dad and are they Satanists?
Well, he probably does have a mom and a dad, but as far as being Satanists, I don’t think so. I think the Antichrist probably will not know he’s the Antichrist until Satan actually comes and dwells him. But he will not be a believer, but I think he probably will appear to be Christian and will fool the Christians as he comes to power and they’re going to think he’s wonderful. But he will turn out to be Antichrist as soon as he gains power.
Thank you, Jim, from Tampa, Florida, calling in with that off-air question. The phone number here at Bibleline is 1-800-576-3771. 1-800-576-3771. Bill in Petersburg, Virginia calls in and leaves this off-air question, how were people saved in the Old Testament? The answer is, by faith in Christ. Abraham believed in Christ and was saved. Let me give you a great verse, Bill. In Galatians 3.8 it says the scripture referring to the Old Testament, for seeing that God would justify the nations through faith preached before the gospel on Abraham.
So Abraham heard the gospel, believed the gospel, and was saved the same way you and I are. Acts 1043, Peter tells us to Jesus, of course the Hebrew is Yeshua, which means God who would save you. it’s the Messiah, that to Jesus give all the prophets witness that is all the Old Testament writers spoke about Jesus and it says that through his name, whosoever believeth in him shall receive the remission of sins. So Peter in one verse, Acts 10, 43, tells us that everybody in the Old Testament was to be saved by trusting in Yeshua, or the English form of that is Jesus.
Yeshua occurs in the Old Testament over 130 times. Jesus is clearly there and they believed on Jesus and that’s how they were saved. We have Walter in Tampa, Florida calling in and leaves an off-air question. He says, what about John 10? 18. Well, I’m going to turn there and we’ll find out what John 10 18 says. In John 10 18, it says, no man take my life from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down.
I have the power to take it again. And so it’s talking here about Christ and it’s talking about that he uniquely had the power to terminate his life and then bring it back to life. You and I can’t do that, but he could choose the time of his death and how he would die. And he did exactly that. Then he came back again from the dead as he said that he would. He had told in advance how he would be betrayed.
he be crucified. He’d be buried. He’d come back again from the dead and he fulfilled all of that literally. He told that from the very beginning of his ministry. He’d go right to John’s Gospel chapter 2. There he tells about how that if you destroy this temple in three days I’ll raise it back up. They thought he was talking about the temple in Jerusalem. He said he was talking about the temple of his body. Right from the get-go he talks about his death barrel and resurrection and fulfilled it to the letter.
We have now Charlie and Charlie, welcome to Bibleline you are on the air. Hello. Hi Charlie. How are you this morning? Good. I have a quick question. In Genesis Abraham, Taylor gave, made servant to Abraham. out. That’s correct. And give to her as a wife. Well when are two people married? I mean in today’s world you have to go to, you know in those days they didn’t have a, they didn’t have to go get a marriage license or go to a church to get married.
How were they married? How did, how did, how does one today? Well they did write up a written contract from the earliest days in the in the Old Testament you can read about how that they would do that. But again Abraham was wrong in doing that. Sarah was wrong. And obviously in some of the other cultures they did those kind of things. But basically she wanted him to bear that child over her lap so that it could be considered her child and be heir.
But of God said that’s not going to happen. He is not heir. And then actually Abraham and Sarah would have a child. That would be the heir and be the one through whom the Messiah would come. But marriage takes place when two people, actually if you read Genesis 2, you read about the first marriage. It’s when two people come together and they commit to be companions for the rest of their life. And that’s what Abraham rather Adam and Eve did.
And we find that marriage is where you leave father and mother, says in Genesis 2. So you leave them to form a new family. And now you’re independent of mom and dad, and you form a new family, and you commit to live together as husband and wife’s rest your life. I’m in my sixties. Do I have to go get a marriage license? Do all that before you’re married or do we just have to commit ourselves to the Lord first?
Well, is that a legal marriage? To be legal in the eyes of the law, you have to get a marriage license. And obviously, yeah, well, of course. And unless you’re willing to do that, how can the partner that you’re marrying know that you are really making a real commitment because even in the olden times men were sinful and they didn’t hold their agreements but if you had a legal contract, even Mary and Joseph it was a legal contract and they were espoused as husband and wife and they followed the agreement of the contract where in those Jewish customs they didn’t really come together and have sex and consummate it for a whole year because during that year the husband was to provide a home for the wife so gave him time to build it and to concentrate on getting things ready for that new family to begin but they were
married and it would require a divorce for them to be separated even though they hadn’t even come together yet sexually and you read that in of course Matthew chapter 1 when he discovered that Mary was pregnant. He wanted to have her put her away, which means divorce. He was going to divorce her because he didn’t want to have her publicly stoned to death, which could have been… Well, it could have been an event that took place because he obviously was considering that there was adultery.
Sure. Thank you for those questions. We have lots more out there that are trying to get on the air, but we’re at the end of the program and we’ll have to finish up with you or any others tomorrow. If you haven’t trusted Jesus as your savior, please just say Lord, I’m a sinner. I don’t understand much, but I trust that Jesus died for me paid for my sins by his death and shed blood was buried in rose again. in from the dead.
The moment you do that, God saves you. And we want you to know that we love you and appreciate all of our listeners and would love to hear from you, call us and tell us that you’re enjoying the program. That’s encouraging to us.
