I want to talk a little bit about repentance. A lot of preachers use the phrase and a lot of people use the phrase, repent of sin.

And I heard this so often as I was growing up. And you know this often quoted phrase, repent of sin does not even occur in the Bible. Did you hear me? The phrase, let me say quote, repent of sin, unquote, that phrase does not even occur once in your Bible. You know I was shocked because I heard it so frequently I thought boy that phrase is everywhere in the Bible. Now listen carefully. I didn’t say repentance wasn’t in the Bible.

I said the phrase quote unquote repent of sin is not in the Bible. It’s just not there. And it’s amazing, isn’t it? Most people are shocked to find out that it does not appear in the Scripture. And I was shocked. And it’s amazing how that nowhere does the Scripture use the phrase repent of sin to be saved. It doesn’t use that phrase. For example, what the scripture does say in Acts 2021 is repentance toward God, that is a change of mind toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.

You see the Greek word metanoia is what is translated into the English word repentance. Repentance is the translation of the Greek word metanoia. The literal meaning of metanoia is a change of mind. Meta means change. Noia means mind. The two together metanoia means a change of mind. And before learning about metanoia, I am sure that you are already familiar with a Greek word with a preface meta. You probably have heard metamorphosis. That means change. Morphosis means form or structure.

This word metamorphosis is used to describe the change that a caterpillar goes through to become a beautiful butterfly. So I’m sure you’ve studied about this change of form. Well, repentance, the Greek word is metanoia, the word noia means mind, so it’s a change of mind. So therefore repentance is a change of mind. change, noia, mind, change of mind. It doesn’t mean turn from sin, it doesn’t mean sorrow for sin, and this has been obviously a victory for Satan because he’s added works to salvation and caused untold confusion among believers.

The misuse of the word repentance has caused confusion among unbelievers and unbelievers alike. Satan is the author of confusion. 1 Corinthians 1433 tells us that Satan is the author of confusion and obviously he’s been delighted in the misuse of the word repent. One of the counterfeits that Satan is using today to confuse the gospel is the misuse of the word repentance. To insist upon a repentance that in any sense includes the demand for a change of conduct either toward God or man is to add works to salvation.

And the Bible tells us salvation is not of works. In dozens and dozens of verses, Ephesians 2-9 says salvation is not of works, lest any man should boast or brag. Here are some definitions for you. Penance is payment for sin. Penitence is sorrow for sin. Works and something of self is turning from sin. But metanoia, translated repentance in your Bible means a change of mind. Repentance in salvation means a change of mind from any idea of religion that man might have and accepting God’s way.

of salvation. Man’s great need is to understand God’s way of salvation and accept his sacrifice. You’ve heard it, John 3.16, for God’s love the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life. Well why do we have this problem? Well the problem has come about because Betanoeia should have never been translated into the English word repent. The English word does not mean the same thing as the Greek word metanoia.

So perhaps what the translators should have done was a transliteration of the Greek word. For example, the translators of the King James Bible took the Greek word Babtizo, dropped the O, replaced it with an E, and they brought the new word Babtai’s into the English language. This is called a transliteration. They should have done this with Metanoia, and the problem would have been eliminated. Can you imagine preachers saying, as they speak to their congregations, Metanoia! Metanoia! Metanoia! Well, at least we would probably get the correct meaning then, because we’d have to look at the Greek word and figure out what it means.

But that would have been better than the English word repent. It was just a bad translation from the get-go. The word in English does not mean the same thing as the Greek word metanoia. And so this is the problem. Understanding the doctrine of repentance can relieve some of the confusion your friends may have had concerning repentance. Here’s a way to handle it. Remember this, a person may repent without believing, but a person cannot believe without repenting. Let me say that again.

You can repent without believing, but you cannot believe without repenting. What does that mean? Well, if you get this down, you’ve understood the doctrine of repentance. In other words, you can repent. You can change your mind and not believe or trust that Christ died for your sins. You can acknowledge who Christ is and you can change your mind about how sin is paid for and quite a number of things, but yet never trust Christ. But you cannot believe or trust Christ without repenting.

You see, when you do trust Christ, you change your mind in the process. It’s impossible to believe or trust Christ without repentance. Because you change your mind about whatever you were previously trusting in to now trusting Christ. When you put your belief or trust in Christ, you change your mind. It’s a part of it. You know, repentance is necessary for salvation, but it means you have to keep this in mind. It means a change of mind. I use the Schofield Reference Bible, and Dr.

C.I. Schofield in the Schofield Reference Bible that I’m using copyrighted in 1909 has the following footnote. He says, and this was about a hundred years ago now, we’re two years short, that repentance is the translation of a Greek word, matinoya, meaning to have another mind or to change the mind, and is used in the New Testament to indicate a change of mind in respect of sin of God and of self. This change of mind may, especially in the case of Christians who have fallen into sin, be preceded by sorrow, but sorrow for sin, though it may work repentance, is not repentance.

And then he says, Satan faith includes and implies that change of mind, which is called repentance. And that’s what we just said. You can repent without believing, but you cannot believe without repenting. So when you trust Christ, you do repent. You do change your mind from whatever you’re previously trusting into trusting in Christ. Whereas you can change your mind and not believe. So you can repent without believing, but you can’t believe without repenting. Write that down and that will help you to be able to convey the meaning of repentance to somebody else because when you believe or trust Christ you do change your mind.

So the Schofield Bible a hundred years ago points out that saving faith includes and implies that change of mind which is called repentance. Tonight that I trusted Christ, I knew nothing about the doctrine of repentance. I really didn’t know a thing about it. I trusted Christ and was saved. Later, as I began to understand the doctrine of repentance, I realized that I had changed my mind that night that I trusted Christ at 18 about several things. I had never heard in my church that Jesus Christ is God.

I saw the scripture that Jesus Christ is God and took on flesh, and I changed my mind about who Christ is. That he’s not just a great teacher, the founder of Christianity, but he’s God. who came and took on human flesh. Also was taught all my life by my church that works would get me to heaven, that I had to have more good works than bad works to make heaven, or I would go to hell. I had to change my mind about that and realize that works wouldn’t pay for my sin.

And then I had to learn that Christ alone was the Savior, that if I simply trusted Him and Him alone, I would be saved. And so I changed my mind about all of those things and maybe some more. But you know I hadn’t really consciously thought about it, It was just that I came to see the light in the scripture about who Christ is, about how sin was paid for by Christ’s death. That works would not save me, that I could not be saved by anything that I would do.

You’ll notice, for example, if you study the book of Acts, that almost in every instance the change of mind is about who Christ is. nothing to do with sin. You know on Pentecost when Peter preached, he preached to the hostile audience that had crucified Christ not too many days earlier. And he told them that they needed to change their mind. He told them that they had made a mistake, that they had actually crucified the one who is the Messiah, that he is the Lord of glory, that he has God in flesh.

And he presents his case and they were convicted in their hearts. They said, what should we do? And Peter says, we’ve changed your mind. And he wasn’t telling them to turn from sin. They were to change their mind about who Christ is and place their trust in him. And they would be saved. Well, I wish preachers today would get that right. And you know, In the Old Testament, what is amazing to me, of the 43 times that repent occurs in your Old Testament, 37 of those times, it is God who repents not men, only six times as it used of men saying that they repent.

What does that tell you? Well, if sin means to turn, a rather if repent means to turn from sin, Then we’ve got a big theological problem. We have a holy sinless God that is turning from sin left and right throughout the whole Old Testament. Check it out for yourself. 43 times the word repent occurs in the Old Testament and 37 of those times it is God who repents. So if you do the math and divide 37 by 43 that means 86% of the time it’s God who repents in the Old Testament.

Do you believe that God has to turn from sin? Of course not. He’s sinless. That’s craziness. But we have a lot of bad teaching out there today and we’re going to hopefully clarify this thing for you to help you understand that when you trust Christ, you become saved. If you had to turn from your sin to be saved, that would be something of self it would be a human work and would violate the plan of salvation and make works apart of the plan.

I’m Dr. Engenstrom, this is Bibleline and I’m going to go to the phone lines. We have a lot of colors. Some have already had to drop off and others have dropped or have come on to the line, but we’re going to Andy, Andy in Tampa, Florida. Andy, welcome to Bibleline. You’re on the air. How you doing? Good. You’re on the air Andy. Got a question. Go ahead. I got a question. In Genesis chapter 15, it talks about Abraham having a vision from God and then down in verse 12 of the same chapter, it talks about that he has another vision, but this vision is kind of, it says a whore of great darkness.

And I was wondering if you could maybe talk a little bit about what’s going on there and maybe a little bit about people say they have visions today. Well, the kind of visions the Bible talked about that he gave in the Old Testament, which obviously had to do with the teachings of the Bible. Here we have a picture of Christ in verse 9. He’s told to take in Heifer of three years old, and I believe the three-year ministry of Christ.

And it speaks about this sacrifice being offered. And here he enters into a promissory covenant with Abraham and it’s based on the blood of that sacrifice. It’s really a picture I think of Christ. And what is amazing to me is he foretells the future for Abraham over the next many, many centuries. here know of a surety, verse 13, that your seed will be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them, and they shall afflict them for a hundred years.

Well obviously that talks about when his grandson was born, and then his great-grandchildren were born, that they went down into Egypt, and they wound up serving the Egyptians as we know. And it says they then became afflicted for hundred years. Well that’s an amazing prophecy because this is long before Abraham even had any children. So we find here that obviously he’s telling about a nation that was spring forth from him and go down to Egypt and they were there 430 years but they were in favor with the Pharaoh that knew Joseph for 30 years.

And then after that another pharaoh came up that didn’t know Joseph and obviously they were afflicted for the next 400 years. Then it says verse 14, that nation whom they shall serve Egypt will I judge and he did judge Egypt and destroyed their army and he worked all those 10 plagues upon the nation of Egypt. And then it says afterward Israel or the descendants of Abraham would come out of Egypt with great substance and they did. They spoiled the Egyptians.

They came out with all kinds of gold and other subsidence including animals and so on. Verse 15, and it says Abraham, now she’ll go to thy fathers in peace. So he died a peaceful death, which it says later. And now she’ll be buried in good old age. So he lived 175 years. So he did live a pretty good time. Verse 16 says, in the fourth generation they shall come hither again back to the promised land. And you know it’s exactly four generations later.

When you follow the genealogies over in Exodus, you find that Moses was the fourth generation from Abraham. And that was exactly what happened. And then it says here, it goes on, it’ll come back here to the promised land for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full. So God basically was going to use Israel to judge the Amorites when they came in and destroy that nation because of their sinfulness and God was giving them four generations and obviously 430 years plus to get it right, but they didn’t and then he brought judgment by bringing Israel in to judge the Amorites so quite an incredible story here and this is the promise that he made and as a picture of the shed blood of Christ being the the means by which God made this oath to Abraham that he would let him know that the

future would hold for him. It’s a wonderful, wonderful chapter and certainly it tells us how Abraham got saved in verse 6 where he says he believed in the Lord. That is that the Lord would bring the Messiah, the seed that would come of his lineage and he counted it to him for righteousness. So Abraham was saved by faith without works by simply trusting Christ that he would come future of his own lineage to be the Messiah that would be his Savior.

Hope that helps, Andy. Thank you. You’re welcome. Andy in Tampa, Florida, calling in and now we’re going to go to Benjamin in Clearwater, Florida. Benjamin, welcome to Bible on You’re On The Air. Hello, this Benjamin. How are you? Good. The Bible says that John the Baptist and the Old Testament, but we see in the Bible that we have also a prophet in the New Testament. What did he do between the Old Testament prophets and the New Testament prophets? Thank you.

The New Testament prophets were very temporary in nature. were to be able to bring revelation to the people in the interim until God’s revelation was given through the apostles in the scripture. And so you’ll read 1 Corinthians 13 verses 8 through 10. It says that one of the gifts that was temporary that would cease would be the gift of prophecy. And it wasn’t like that you’re going to meet a tall, dark stranger in the near future or that you’re in inherent some wealth as some of the modern-day.

The Bible is a great example of the prophets due today. But basically, prior to the reading of the New Testament and having the Bible completed, you didn’t know what God’s program was. But now, I don’t need a prophet because I can read in my Bible the next event of God’s program is the Rapture. Then we’ll follow seven years of Tribulation, during which time the Antichrist will rise to power and gain control over a great portion of the earth. At the end of that seven years, Armageddon will occur.

A war over the end of the world. occur, a war over the Middle East, over, it will actually begin there in Israel and Armageddon. And then Christ will come back, defeat those armies and set up His Kingdom. Christ will rule for a thousand years and then it takes us into eternity about how this earth will be destroyed, how a new earth will be created, and how that we’ll have a home in heaven in the New Jerusalem that will come down from heaven to the new earth and we’ll live with the Lord forever and ever.

And the lost will be cast into hell and it tells when that will happen at the end of that millennium and so on. So basically we don’t need the gift of prophecy today because the Bible tells us all these things well in advance. Thank you Benjamin for that call and we have a lot of other callers sitting here but we’re getting toward the end. Anyway, thank you for tuning in to Bible on today and I want to thank all of you who give and pray for Bible on because you’re the ones who keep this program on the air.

If you would consider giving a gift to Bibleline this year, or maybe this month of January, that would be great. We could use your help and it’s a way of investing in eternity and I believe God will richly bless you for your gifts to Bibleline. Anyway, call our operators and they’ll tell you how to do that. We’ve got to go to break, we’ll be right back, so don’t go away, I’ll be right back after this break. Don’t go away, Bibleline will be back in a moment.

You’ve pledged your support for Bibleline. Give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Alright, I’m Dr. Hank Lindstrom and here we are bringing the final program of this week, Friday to you. And we’ll be back again, of course, on Monday. But you can listen all week. We can long on the Internet. That’s right. Go to my website, BibleLineMinistries.org.com. And there you’ll be able to go back in the archive. You can hear today’s program again and again and again. And I hope you will.

You can also download it, which is wonderful. You can then have it and carry it with you. If you have an iPod, you can carry the programs with you. And obviously that would be wonderful. In any case, we certainly do thank all of you who listen to Bibleline for your prayers and for your gifts to Bibleline because without your prayers and without your gifts, we could not be on the air. And we really have a real partnership with our listeners without you.

We could not be on the air. That’s exactly the way it falls out. We are totally supported by our listeners, and you’re the ones that I want everybody to thank God for because it is your gift to Bible and that allow us to be on the air. I don’t get a salary nor does our staff. A lot of people ask the question, how much do you get paid for being on the radio? I said, well, it would be nice, but we don’t get paid.

I don’t get paid. Nobody does. we all feel such an urgency and a need to get the gospel out that we donate our time to be able to get this messy jount and obviously we need your help to be able to pull that off. And I think that’s the way God works in the Bible throughout. God wants people to come together. A church is obviously a community of believers that are members of the body of Christ that use the talents and gifts that God has given to them to supplement the needs of the others who don’t have those gifts, and that we all have a specific place and a specific gift to be used of the Lord.

And as we work together, we obviously are able to accomplish a lot. And so God wants us to partner, and He’s going to reward you as we bear fruit through Bibleline, you’re going to be rewarded with the same fruit that we will be rewarded with here that actually are putting the program. What’s up on the air? Consider that. Call our operators. You can give a gift by telephone, by credit card, or you can mail in a gift to Bibleline.

Our operators will help you get that all done and I hope you’ll call our 800 number. We’re about ready to rejoin the stations that have been on break and do the second half hour of Biblehead. So stay tuned. Here we go, Bibleline 2. Would you like to help Bibleline continue in your area? You can. Just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-57. We’re back for that break and this is Bible and it’s great to be with you. We’re coming to you live from Tampa, Florida from our studios at the Calvary Community Church in.

in Tampa, Florida. And we invite you to come by. This Sunday would be a great Sunday to come by and visit. We have a dinner every third Sunday, and so you can come at 1030 for the morning worship and then stay for the lunch that follows. And everybody’s invited. You’re invited to be my guest and bring your family and your appetite and your Bible and stay for a lunch dinner, some of the best home food in all the world.

And that’ll be this Sunday right here at Calvary Community Church. Now if you’re from out of town, I know you probably can’t attend the dinner, but whenever you come to town, you’re always welcome to come by and visit our resource center during the week, open Monday through Friday till about 4.30 in the afternoon. Also, you’re welcome to come by on a worship day, either a Wednesday or a Sunday. We hope you will do that. And we will just give you the red carpet treatment.

We want you to come and we’d love to meet you. And certainly you’re my guest. I hope you’ll come. And as so many people tell me, I’m here because you invited me and I said, well, that’s great. And we just are delighted to be able to meet those who come and visit with us here in person. And of course, you can also visit our website. There you can see a lot about us, wherever you might be on the planet.

In any case, we’re going to go back to the phone lines. We have a lot of people waiting patiently. And so thank you for your patience as we go to Everett in Richmond, Virginia and ever welcome to my life. How you doing doctor? Good. That’s good. I have two questions and then I’ll listen to your answer on the radio. My first question is exactly as a significance of 1914 to the and my second question is about the coming of Christ.

Is there anything in the Bible about prophecy of Israel coming back together as a country before the Messiah returns? Absolutely. Okay. All right. We’ll try to take a look at that. I’m not too sure of the 1914 date, but I know that the witnesses have announced the return of Christ numerous times and have set dates that have been wrong. They try to deny that, but they’re like chameleons. They’re hard to change as they go. I have, for example, as they go.

And I have, for example, they teach that Christ was crucified on a stake, not a cross, but I have several Jehovah’s Witness books in my library that are copyrighted around 1940, 1942, and they all have pictures of Christ on a cross, not on a stake. So they just, you know, They’re just slippery and they wiggle and they obviously are liars because they don’t tell the truth and the witnesses obviously change their mind about things as they go. In 1914 is one of those incidences.

But definitely Jesus will come back and the Bible talks about it will be when Israel has been born again as a nation in the Middle East. I love Jeremiah chapter 30 Everett. It says the word in verse 1 of chapter 30 of Jeremiah, the word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord saying, let’s speak of the Lord God of Israel, write the all the words that I’ve spoken unto the book. So here God is telling Jeremiah to write down what he has to say.

For lo the days come, say of the Lord, that I’ll bring again the captivity of my people Israel and Judah, saith the Lord, and I will cause them to return to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall possess it. And these are the words which the words speak concerning Israel and concerning Judah. So this is an amazing prophecy really written here around 2,600 years ago and 2,700 years ago. It tells about the return of the Jews back to the land.

The Bible tells us when the Jews return back to the land that is the latter days and that’s when Jesus will return. So we’re in that time right now, and I believe the Lord’s coming is probably very soon. There’s a lot of doom and gloom out there in the world, and that’s obviously the people, as they look out at our future, the near, very near future they see. Really what the Bible has already predicted, a time of tribulation, a time of lawlessness, a time of trouble, a time of violence like the world has never seen before.

that it would be like the days of Noah and if you read Genesis 611 it says the earth was filled with violence and wow the earth was corrupt and it is today and it was filled with violence and we see that I think we’re very close ever thank you for that call we now have George in Tarpon Springs Florida and George welcome to Bibleline your on the earth. Okay hey Dr. Hank the other day I The other day I was reading through Mark and I came to a passage here.

It’s Mark 3 and it’s first 20. point one all right go ahead it says when his they want to take charge of him where they said he is out of his mind meaning i i take it as coming to take charge of him this is one of his early ministry i guess where you’re in mark what is it three what mark three twenty one It says in my King James Bible, and when his friends heard of it, they went out to lay hold on him, but they said he has beside himself.

Let me just read his talking here. I think that they were just saying that I have to read this passage more carefully here, but apparently they were saying that Christ was, I guess, out of his mind. and his friends that doesn’t tell us who they are, but we find here that I’m not too sure who those are that are coming after him. I have to read that again. But no doubt about it. Here we have Christ choosing his twelve disciples here.

Then we have Him healing a man and the religious leaders couldn’t even accept the fact that this was a demonstration of who he is that he was the Messiah. He healed a man that was both blind and dumb and they said well, okay He heals they admitted to that but they said he did it by Satan’s power so they they thought he was demonic and Was or at least that was the accusation laid against him that he was that he was impersonating the Messiah that he was doing healings by Satan’s power and obviously they We’re turning against him very early on in his ministry and the leadership of Israel at least were and rejecting him So apparently here is talking about About that that they were rejecting him right up from the very beginning Okay, I’ll take a further look at it But thank you for that question and we’ll look at it maybe return to it on

Monday We’re now going to go to an anonymous caller in Miami and Welcome Miami to the Bible and program Yes, yes. Hi. I’m sorry and I’d like to hear your comment on it if it’s possible go ahead a Lot of people. I mean I believe that salvation is by faith and only by faith But I hear a lot of preachers keep preaching that You’re saved by faith, but then to get to heaven. It’s like something else like you Have to earn your way to heaven and they use a verses like without holiness.

No one shall see God I like to hear your comment on that and I hang up sir. Okay. No problem You know and then you’re absolutely right and this is what how clever the devil is He’ll say some things that are true and then steal away the truth by saying something that contradicts it The verse you’re referring to is in Hebrews chapter 12 and it talks about without holiness no one will see the Lord. And what it’s talking about is that you have to be absolutely holy, absolutely as righteous as God to go to heaven, but guess what?

None of us are capable of pulling that off. But when you trust Jesus Christ and his substitutionary death at the cross, God credits your account with God’s full righteousness. In other words, God considers you holy or righteous from the very moment you believe. And that’s just an incredible, wonderful truth that our position in Christ is that we are holy and that we are righteous. and without that, you will not see the Lord. And that’s in Hebrews 12. But they misrepresent that and they try to tell you that you have to live holy to be saved.

And it’s not our living holy that will save us because we could never become holy enough, but it’s Christ’s death and his life that was given to the cross that enables us to be holy before God by faith in Christ as Savior. Let me just give you one great verse, and it says in Romans 4.5, to him that does not work, but would believe on Christ who would justify the ungodly, his faith in Christ is counted for righteousness, or you could say, holiness.

They’re both the same. We are made holy or righteous by faith alone in Christ alone. Thank you for that call. we have doris down in braidenton florida and doris welcome to buy one year on the air okay i want to know your opinion if you’ve heard about it what you think about it a book that just been brought out and all these pastors are promoting it and it’s called ninety minutes in heaven you heard anything about it no i haven’t but uh…

uh… apparently it’s saying that some of them have gone to heaven well it was about a minister who was an in that automobile accident he did They said he just did for 70 minutes or 90 minutes. I’m not sure which it was, but anyhow, they took, it was very hard getting a mail to get a car. It was such a bad accident, and he was in the hospital for 13 months, but he said in that time, he went, when he was dead, that 90 minutes, and they said people found the doctors all knew he was dead all that time.

He went to heaven, and he felt about his experiences in heaven about meeting loved ones, and how beautiful it was and all. But I can’t see that that’s scriptural. I can understand ministers, there’s ministers in there, born again, very good men, but they’re promoting the book and I just want your opinion on it. Well, I would think the book is a fraud. Once you die, you don’t come back. I would use Hebrews 927, which says it’s appointed on the men once.

What’s the line there? Yes, it is judgment. That’s right. Obviously, if he died and his soul left his body for 90 minutes, he’s not coming back. He’s still there. So that’s just not true. And of course, when people supposedly died and come back from dead, they really never died. Biblically, once the soul leaves the body, it doesn’t come back. If you’re lost, your soul goes to Hades in the heart of the earth and is in flame and torment. If you’re a believer, you’re absent from the body, present with the Lord.

And if you ever got there you wouldn’t want to come back, I’m sure. I think the book would be totally wrong because obviously that’s just not possible. If you judge the book in the light of God’s word it has to be a fraud. I agree with you and I would appreciate it if you would look it up and then you’ll have to take a look. I think I don’t want to mention the names but very well known born again ministers are promoting this book.

Well, that’s that’s not good for me. That is shocking. Yes. Well, thank you Doris and I’ll definitely try to get a copy and look at it All right. Thank you very much. Thank you Doris. I was Doris down in Bradenton, Florida. Once you die, you don’t come back And of course, I think the Bible is very clear about that Hebrews 927 We’re gonna go to Darnell in St. Petersburg. Darnell. Welcome to Bibleline Hey, good morning, Dr. Hank, how you doing?

Good. Okay, and two things. I got into a good one that’s nice. They came out of town and they’re kind of costless. So, you know, we had to go through it about losing salvation and with your notes. But one thing I was studying and I want to know, is it possible that an indigent believer can’t absolutely nobody’s in me left behind after rapture or death when you die as a believer you’re absent from the body present with the Lord and and no exceptions And at the rapture every believer is going to be taking up no exceptions.

No one left behind All right. I think it was, I think it was John 5.24. You would let us know that we are eternally saved with that one. But I just read a little bit further and I don’t have my father with one that works. But I think it was, it might have been like the 27th verse. And the way that it read, to me, it read that that an indigent believer can be left behind because then it correlates with another scripture, first Corinthians 15.

And I don’t know, maybe I read it wrong when I get back home on reading again, but maybe I read it wrong. It kind of scared me because like I said, I’ve been searching to see if an integer believer can be left behind. And when I read that, like I said, it’s John 5, it might be 27 or 28. And I think it’s something in it kind of spooked me because it sounded at him. And so, in verse 28, he says, marvel not at this for the hour is coming in which all that are in the grave shall hear his voice.

Now the believers will receive their resurrection bodies and the bodies will come out of the grave at the rapture and at the second coming and the unbelievers a thousand years later will hear his voice and their bodies will come out of the grave and they will be cast into hell with their resurrection bodies which will endure through the fires of hell forever and ever and ever. But the believer is in a separate judgment here. And so maybe you’re mixing those two up.

You’ll have to come back at me with the exact verse. But no doubt you cannot be lost. John 637, him that cometh to me, I will in no wise cast out. in verse 39 of John 6, Christ that he would not lose one of those that have come to him. So once you’re saved, you’re stuck. You have to go to heaven when you like it or not. We’ll be doing that. That’s what we’re talking about. Oh, absolutely works determine what happens at destination.

Believers go to heaven. Unbelievers go to hell. John 3 18, Christ said he the believer on Christ is not condemned, but he the believer not is condemned already because he hath not believed. So if you’re a believer, not condemn you go to heaven if you’re an unbeliever you are condemned and will go to hell but then believers will be in a judgment where degree of reward will be determined by your works and for the unbeliever a thousand years later they’ll be in a judgment where works are examined to determine the degree of punishment and hell so works determine what happens at the destination of the believer or the unbeliever but our destination is determined by belief or unbelief in Christ.

And that’s exactly right. That’s exactly right. Okay, thank you, man. You really put some depth on that thing for me. Thank you a lot. All right, Darnell, and keep witnessing this. Wonderful to hear. We’re going to go to Adam in Tampa, Florida. Adam, welcome to Bibleline, and you’re on the air. Yeah, my question has to do with a shield and could you explain what that is and also I think that I heard you say something about the how Christ went and released people from paradise in the heart of the earth.

through it, can you explain all that? Sure. Sure. Chial, S-A-Chial-L, is the Hebrew word. Hades is the Greek word, H-A-D-E-S. equivalent for this hollow place that’s in the heart of the earth. Prior to the death, burial and resurrection of Christ, we find that everybody that died went to the heart of the earth. The save went to a place of comfort called paradise. The unsaved went to a place of torment where there was flame and fire. Luke 16, you read beginning at verse 19, about two men who died, a beggar named Lazarus who was saved and a rich man that was unsaved and they both died almost right at the same moment.

The one went to flame in torment in Hades, Lazarus went to the Paradise part and they were separated by an impassable gulf. If you read Ephesians 4 8 through 10 it describes how the Christ descended down into the lower parts of the earth. In Matthew 12 40 Christ said that he would be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. And that’s of course where Paradise was, as we know from Luke 23 43, that he told the dying thief today thou shalt be with the in Paradise.

So he goes to the heart of the earth on that very day and he tells the dying thief you’re going to be with the in Paradise. We know Paradise was that place of comfort in the heart of the earth. But if you read Ephesians 4, 8, through 10, Christ descended there and then he led a group out of the heart of the earth captive up to heaven and took them far beyond all of the visible heavens to the very horizon, I guess, of the universe.

Scientists tell us that’s about four trillion light-years away. Obviously, Christ being God apparently is not bound by the four dimensions that you and I are bound by and otherwise Christ will still be on his way to heaven. But he went there and came right back down to the earth and appeared and preached for 40 days So obviously I think he’s a multi-dimensional God who’s able to do a lot more than we’re able to do and he’s the creator of the dimensions That we live in I hope that helps a little bit.

That’s a quick summary But I’m sure I have some CDs on that that you can get through my operator and that’ll help give you further clarification, but thank you for that call Adam them. Take care of your health. All right. That was Adam and Tampa, Florida. And we now have Dave in Plant City, Florida. Dave, welcome to Vibelain. You’re on the air. Good morning, Dr. Hank. I got a question for you today in a comment. While I was on the line, I listened to, I think the lady’s name was Doris called in.

I think last fall, Perry Stone had a series of shows on, I don’t know if he was promoting that book but he had people on that supposedly had went to heaven and then came back to earth i think one of them was a professional boxer and they had to explicit uh… illustrations of what they saw when they were there and and all that although she might want to watch some of his shows they might repeat one sometime and was he saying that it was true or he was uh…

he was talking it was not true uh… they all believed that it was true i agree with you. I’ve heard a lot that you said about people going to the afterlife and come back whether it be hell or heaven. Bad doctrine breeds bad doctrine. And then, Parristone has some wonderful teachings on prophecy, but he believes you can lose your salvation. And in many other areas, obviously that’s a major, major, major, doctrinal error. That tells us that you’re partly the Savior with Christ, plus what you’re going to do with your life, and ultimately you’re the Savior, because it’s how you conduct your life between now and death that determines ultimately whether you make heaven or not.

That’s works. And so that’s terribly wrong. I’ve got two hours of recordings of Perry Stone telling us why we can lose our salvation and how that we need to watch out lest we lose it. So that’s certainly a big error. And I’d be cautioned by anybody who says that there are people coming back from the dead telling us about what they saw. And that’s just not going to happen. Hebrews 9, 27, it’s appointed unto men once to die. Not to die and come back and then die again.

You’re only going to die once. Uno. So Dave, thank you very much and we certainly need to judge what we’re hearing by the Bible. We have Cindy in Tampa, Florida and we’ve been trying to get to the small fairs here. She comments on the caller about divorce and she says that I had talked about a person getting divorced if the spouse abandons the other. She feels this is wrong and she said you didn’t mention whether the one that was left was a believer or an unbeliever and says the believer has no grounds biblically to get a divorce.

She leaves, and I think these must have to be wrong. Matthew 3, 23, there is no 23rd verse in the third chapter of Matthew. First Peter, of course, talks about the wife winning her husband to Christ. That’s if you have proximity. I know of cases where a young girl married fellow going off into the armed services and he comes back and moves to another part of the country and divorces her and remarries and she’s abandoned. And so I believe that obviously in that case the person who has abandoned the marriage has dissolved it and remarried and what are you going to do?

I think she’s absolutely free to remarry and I hope that answers that and certainly the Bible teaches that God hates divorce. So I hope you understand my position is I’m not advocating the people divorce, but the Bible does talk about it and it does talk about a person who has been deserted or abandoned in a marriage. Can of course remarry. Offair, Becky in Lansing, Michigan calls in and leaves this offair question. How do you know Jesus was 33 years old when he died?

How do you know his ministry lasted three years? Well we know he was exactly 30. If you read Luke chapter 3 as the genealogy there is given, it tells us he was 30 when his ministry began when he was baptized by John the Baptist. And then if you just kind of go through the ministry of Christ, you see that it lasts for three years. And I’ll have to dig out a verse that was specifically, I believe you’ll believe that.

But you can connect the dots and see that he ministered for three years after he was baptized by John in the Jordan and then of course he was crucified. Sally in Lansing, Michigan calls in. She leaves a software question. Please explain. Second Peter to four angels that rebel. Go to hell. Where are they? All of those angels, I believe are alive and well on the planet earth. As as Helensie says in his book, Satan is alive and well on the planet Earth.

So they are chained to judgment, they are chained to everlasting darkness. I think it’s like a house arrest. They are ultimately going to be cast into hell, but they are right now in a sense house arrest and they are very much alive and very much out there to give us a hard time. So all these angels that have rebelled against the Lord, which are a third of God’s angels, are out there. We have Claude in Brampton, Ontario, Canada. He says there are so many different denominations.

What does Jesus think about this? And is there any original church from Paul or the Apostles’ days? Well, you know, the church church you have to be born into by trusting Christ as Savior. And no, God is not for division. But the churches have divided because of different doctrinal differences. If we’re ever to come together, it would have to be because we agree. Got to go. Keep looking up. Jesus is coming, and I believe soon. You’ve been listening to Bibleline, a presentation of Bibleline ministries of Tapa, Florida.
