Tonight we have a worship service, it’s Wednesday, and also we’ll be worshiping on Sunday in the morning and the evening, and you’re welcome to be a part of that as well. Well, let’s go to the Bible and we’ll talk a little bit today about the new birth.
You know, the new birth is as real as the first birth. Did you know that? The Lord Jesus Christ said to Nicodemus in John 3, 6, that which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is Spirit. So Christ is certainly telling us the new birth is just as real as the first birth, but it’s a spiritual birth. And you can’t see it take place. Yet every time someone receives Christ as Savior, puts their trust in Him and His shed blood and death at the cross as the full payment for their sins, the fact that He was buried and then came back again from the dead, as the only means of their salvation they become born again at that moment.
In John 524 it says, they’re passed from death unto life. And that means you and me. If you’re a believer, you have had this experience. You have been spiritually resurrected. You’ve been passed from being spiritually dead to spiritually alive. You know, when a child is born into the world, a new life comes into existence. Actually, we believe that occurs at conception. But this life has a human nature, which is sinful. It is therefore subject to life. to death and this is the birth that Jesus called the flesh and the result of that birth is a flesh birth and the life or this life can’t change its nature.
It is a temporary life that we have here on this earth but our souls which I believe are given to that person at conception are ever living souls that live forever, either with the Lord in heaven or separated from the Lord in the eternal lake of fire, the eternal hell. Well, in any case, if you are born only once or you have the flesh birth only, then you are subject to death, not only physical death, but the eternal death, the separation from God forever in hell, which you certainly don’t want to experience.
But the new birth is the birth of the Spirit. It is born not of blood, according to John 1, 12 and 13, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. So it’s a birth of God that occurs at the moment of belief. Peter says, over in 1 Peter 1 verse 23, being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible by the word of God which liveth and abideth forever. So we find that the new birth is a new birth which is of an incorruptible seed.
The first birth is a corrupted birth and that corrupted birth is of course inherited from Adam and his sin, but the new birth is absolutely incorruptible. In order to enter heaven, Christ said you must be born again. You must be born again. There’s only one way to have that happen and that’s to place your trust in Christ’s Savior. You know in John 3 when Christ discusses this, he tells Nicodemus how to be ordered again in John 3 16. He says the Nicodemus for God’s love the world, Nicodemus that includes you.
It includes everybody else in the human race that he gave is only begotten son, that’s Jesus Christ that whosoever that means anyone and everyone that would believe or trust in Christ would not perish, but they would have everlasting life. That means you would live forever and ever and ever and ever and that happens from the very moment you trust Christ’s Savior. You know John 524 says it very well, barely, barely Christ says I say unto you, he to believe with half everlasting life.
That means you presently possess everlasting life. Secondly, you’ll not come into condemnation, which means you’ll never be condemned, you’ll never go to hell. And then thirdly, he says you’re passed from death of the life. You are obviously born again. Over in 1 John, it says in chapter 5, for what’s or rather whosoever believe of that Jesus is the Christ is born of God. So that’s the key. Just simple belief or trust in what Jesus Christ did for you at the cross brings about the new birth and that’s consistent everywhere we look in the scripture.
And when you trust Christ at that moment you become born again. Then it says in verse 4, verse John chapter 5, for whatsoever is born of God overcome with the world and this is the victory that overcome with the world, even our faith. And then it says in verse 5, who is he that overcometh the world, but he to believe that Jesus is the Son of God. So we know that being born of God is equivalent to trusting Christ as Savior when that new birth then occurs which is of birth which is of God.
It is not a flesh birth. And of course the flesh birth is flesh and never becomes anything but flesh. But the spirit birth is a birth of the spirit and will always be that. Exactly a spirit birth and… He says, without the new birth you cannot enter heaven. You know, Jesus said over in John 5, chapter 3 verse 5, he says, very, very well I say unto the accept the man be born of water and of the spirit, he cannot, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
Now a lot of people get confused when they see the word water there. Amazingly, most people lock up in their minds and they think baptism somehow. I remember talking to a fellow one day who said, you had to be water baptized to be saved. And I said, could you show me that in scripture? And he said, yes. And he turned to John 3.5. And I said, well, would you read that verse to me? And he said, sure. Jesus answered, rarely, rarely I say unto thee, except to man be baptized in the water and of the spirit.
He cannot enter into the kingdom of God. I said, now, wait a minute. Would you read that again and more slowly? He said, sure. Jesus answered, barely, barely, John 3.5. I say unto thee, except a man be baptized of water, and of the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. I said, you know, as I was watching, as you read, I didn’t see the word baptized. Would you do this one more time, and this time point out with your finger, the word baptized in this verse that you have used twice now in the two times that you read this verse to me.
He said, certainly no problem. And we went back and said, Jesus answered, barely, barely, I say into thee, except of Anby. And you know, he had never realized that says, B-O-R-N, born, not baptized, born. You know, people sometimes, I guess, after a while read things in that They’re not even there. And he thought the word was baptized in this verse, and he read it that way several times before I actually forced him to try to find the word baptized in this verse, and it’s not there.
There’s a tremendous difference between being born and being baptized. Really think about it. If you’re about ready to deliver a baby, you wouldn’t run to the church, would you? But if you were going to be baptized, would you run over to the hospital and say, help, help! I need to be baptized! And expect the people in the emergency room to baptize you. Well, of course you got it backwards. Obviously there’s a tremendous difference between being born and being baptized.
And this is not talking about baptism. It’s talking about a birth. And guess what? It’s speaking about the flesh birth that we mentioned a moment ago. On both sides of John 3.5, it’s talking about a flesh birth. Nicodemus, after being told he had to be born again in verse 4, says, How can a man be born when he’s old? Can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb and be born? He’s clearly thinking about that flesh birth. By the way, when you’re born of the flesh, you’re enclosed in a sack of water in your mother’s womb.
when that water sack breaks, then out you come. And so the water birth or the birth of water is really the flesh birth. Verse 6 on the other side of verse 5 also demands that interpretation because it says that which is born of the flesh is flesh and that which is born of the spirit is spirit. Referring to where Christ said in verse 5, except demand be born of water, that’s the flesh birth and of the spirit that’s the spirit birth, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.
Now Nicodemus already had the first birth. He just simply needed a second birth. So Christ says in verse 7, Marvel not that I said unto thee, you must be born again. He doesn’t ask a person to have both of these births after he addresses him, but he’s telling Nicodemus you’ve already had the birth of water, but you have to have a birth of water and a birth of the spirit to be able to live in heaven. And now, marvel not that I said unto thee, you must be born again, but I’m not talking about another flesh birth.
I’m not talking about another birth of water. I’m talking about a spirit birth which is totally different. That which is born of the flesh is flesh. That which is born of the spirit of spirit. If you’re a member of the human race, if you have existence here on this planet, you have had a flush berth. Reach down and squeeze your arm or pinch your arm and see if you don’t have flush on your bones there. But to be saved…
You have to have the second birth, which is the birth of the Spirit. And the way we receive that is to believe or trust Christ as Savior. When we trust Him, as the only hope we have of heaven, we become born again. The result is you’re now a son or daughter of God. We are not God’s children until we are born again. We are God’s creation. God is our Creator, but we do not become His children until we’re born again.
And once you trust Christ, the Bible says you become son or daughter of God you become a member of the family of God. I’m Dr. England’s from this is by blind we’re gonna go ahead and go to the phone lines and we have a number of people waiting and we’re gonna go right now to Jack in Tampa, Florida and Jack welcome to by blind you’re on the air. Good morning pastor. Good morning. I’m in a little bit of a difficult situation every year My stepmother is Catholic and a very good cat.
We prayed my mother. I know, not what the Bible says, but every year she has the mask for my mother. And it’s the same thing this time of year. And wrote something in an email to my other family members about it. has any questions on the sacraments or how the mask is performed and why it’s performed. No one does every ask or any questions and she’s getting very angry about it. And she knows where I stand on a lot of issues and we’re long committed to it when we get into it and I don’t want to go there with arguing in an angry way.
That’s not me but it’s more her so I don’t know how to deal with I mentioned to other family members that she doesn’t know why the Baptist have the other Bible that the other books that the Catholics do. And I’m not sure how to quite answer that either. I do, but I want to hear your answer. We’ll go ahead and talk about that a little bit. First of all, that Catholic theology is totally wrong. That’s talking about how we can do something here to rescue or save somebody who’s already dead.
You can’t do that. Hebrews 927 says it’s appointed unto men once to die and then the judgment and Once you die without Christ then you’re in deep trouble Obviously Luke 16 is a great example. You have two men a beggar named Lazarus a rich man Who’s unnamed they both die and immediately they’re in where they’re going to be forever forever. The Lazarus was in a place of comfort and the rich man was in flaming torment and obviously he’s still there and will be there forever and ultimately cast into the eternal lake of fire.
So once death occurs it is too late. There is nothing you or I can do. The person that has died cannot do anything about it. Once you die without Christ you’re condemned forever and ever and ever and ever. So to try to think that we can say prayers or have masses said on behalf of a dead person is crazy because the Bible doesn’t teach any such thing. So we can’t help those that have died. The only thing we can do is try to reach those that are living while they’re still alive before before they die, and even the rich man in Hades there in the heart of the earth in Luke 16 says, please send Lazarus or somebody back because I have five brothers back at home on the earth, and I don’t want them to come to this place.
So obviously once you die, it’s too late, and he knew his five brothers would be right there with him unless somebody would go lead him to Christ. And so we know that the dead can’t be saved once they have died in Hebrews 927. Again, it says it’s appointed unto men once to die and then they stand before God. And if they’re an unbeliever, then they’re lost. And the Bible tells us that we’re even lost before we die. It says he to believe it’s not as condemned already because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God, John 3 18.
So the unbeliever is already condemned from the time they enter this world, the inner with a fleshed birth which is a sinful birth which is condemned from the get-go. In order to be saved, you have to have a new birth and that can only occur in this lifetime. So, unfortunately, many people are taught that they can somehow pray to the dead, pray for the dead, and the Bible says that is absolutely wrong, it’s absolutely false, it’s contrary to the Bible, and we need to recognize that in the case of your mother you need to leave her to Christ before she dies, But there’s nothing she can do for her mother if she died without Christ.
So there’s nothing you can do. Now the Catholics added some Bibles, rather books to the Bible, in the Council of Trent in 1554 AD. What is interesting is that all of these books that they added about 15, they added them to the Old Testament, and these were books that were written after the Old Testament was completed. The Old Testament that you and I have, 39 books, the same that the Jewish people have in their Bible, is the completed Bible that was finished around 500 years before Christ.
Between 500 years before Christ, when God withdrew the prophets and completed the Old Testament and the last Old Testament prophet John the Baptist who announced Christ, there There was about 500 what we call silent years where God was not speaking. He had nothing more to say. It was all said and is contained in the 39 books we have in the Old Testament. But there were histories written of that time and obviously those histories were around but they were never accepted by the Jewish people as being in the inspired Word of God.
they were not written by a prophet or by an authentic spokesperson for God. And so they were rejected. When Christ came along, He could have corrected that and said, Hey, you guys missed these books. You should have added them. He didn’t, nor did the apostles after that do it, nor did the early church fathers. Two thousand years go by and the Catholic Church adds them in the Council of Trenton AD 1554. Obviously, they’re two thousand years late. If they had been scripture, they should have been received at the time they were written as is true for all the other books of the Old and New Testament.
They were all accepted as scripture at the moment they were written because they were written by an authentic spokesperson for God, one that the people believed was speaking on behalf of God and that their words were God’s words. Peter tells us that Paul’s writings are scripture in 2 Peter chapter 3. And we find that Paul talks about Luke’s writings as being scripture. And we find that Paul himself commends the believers at Thessalonica for receiving his words as being the very words of God as he said they are indeed in truth.
And so obviously as they spoke and wrote, those words were considered to be God’s words at the moment. So the, uh, uh, if I wouldn’t lose any sleep over it, they don’t change any doctrine. So I don’t really get into an argument over that. I just say I disagree. I don’t believe those blowing the Bible and tell them why, but, uh, they don’t affect any doctrine. So it’s not a, plus or minus either way. Uh, so I don’t, uh, deal with that.
You have to deal with what the The Bible really says, which we’ve already talked about, when you die without Christ, you’re going to be forever lost. So hopefully, Jack, that helps a little bit, we’ll pray for your mother, pray you could lead her to Christ, and she’s obviously reaching out and allowing a dialogue to be held, but obviously she wants to you to be in agreement with her, and I just pray you’ll be able to reach her. All right, we’re going to go now to Betty in Beverly Hills, Florida.
Betty, welcome to Bible Life. Yes, good morning, Brother Lynch. I find myself in between a rock and a hard place. Yesterday, we had two of the deacons over to our home to discuss the material that’s to be taught for evangelism. And I had told you the other day I had found an error in the Southern Baptist manual regarding salvation and the order, you know, what is necessary. They put more than just trust Christ. So I downloaded and printed out your articles on Repentance, which they readily received graciously and said that we wouldn’t use a particular manual.
My issue was this. I mentioned that I got an email from a fellow congregant and it was very beautiful music, a lot of philosophical words and so forth and it was signed Mother Teresa and I said, you know, something Mother Teresa had said. And I said to them that I object to that because I had seen when she was alive that she said she helps those that are sick and that she feels this is what God wants her to do.
If it’s a Hindu man, she wants to help him die at the best Hindu he can. And I said so therefore I’m not supportive of the truth. Her writings are anything regarding her. And they said, because she was not a Christian, and they really jumped on me both beacons. How can you dare to say she was not a Christian? And I said, you know, we have to test the spirits. And I said that. And I thank you so much for explaining the heresy of the Roman Catholic Church, of which I’ve really been aware of.
But Brother Lindstrom then said, what about Hippo Betty? Was he saved? You know, we’re not supposed to be judging. I tried to explain to them what first John, fourth chapter, first verse, test the spirit. Is that a correct verse to make the application to this situation, breath? Absolutely. Certainly we’re to try any message we hear to see if it agrees with the Bible. I like Isaiah 820 where it says that they speak not according to this word. There’s no light in them, right?
So you have to go with the Word of God. That’s what I did, Brad, and forgive me for taking your time. I hold myself back because I want to give everyone else a chance. But this is my last bottom line. I did say to them that my husband and I really cannot be involved in the teaching of the Evangelism Course because this smacks of ecumenicism and heresy. And we just cannot. I cannot in good conscience before my Lord and Savior be involved in this.
As you spoke to me regarding this subject the other day, do you think I’m justified? Yes, indeed you are. We’ve got to go to break and I pray for you. I feel sorry. Anyway, stay tuned. We’ll be right back. Don’t go away. Bibleline will be back in a moment. To pledge your support for Bibleline, give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. 21. All right. We’re coming to you live from Tampa, Florida from our studios here at the Calvary Community Church on Dr.
Englund’s room and this is Bibleline. And obviously, whenever someone doesn’t teach the doctrines that are taught in the Bible, that presents a conflict. And obviously the Bible tells us that we are to stand for the truth and to stand for sound doctrine. And of course the Bible teaches that the elders and the deacons in the church are to guard against false doctrine. So they’re the very ones that are to be the watch men for the church to make sure that no false doctrine creeps in.
Unfortunately today our churches are so shallow and doctrine they don’t recognize false doctrine when it comes their way. Anyway We’re so glad to be with you today. I hope you’re enjoying Bibleline. I hope you’ll listen to the second half hour which will follow in just a few moments. If your station doesn’t happen to carry the second half hour, you can get it on the internet, which is obviously available to you 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In any case, we love to be with you and appreciate all of you.

We’re coming to you live from Tampa, Florida, from our studios here at the Calvary Community Church, where I’m the pastor.
and you’re always invited to come by and see us, visit our resource center during the week, open every day till 4.30. It’s such a big target. All the roads, you know, in a major highway, really come right into the airport. So it makes it convenient for anybody coming to visit. You can scoot right in here toward the airport and we’re just on the west side and you’ll enjoy that. We want to thank all of you who give the Bibleline and pray for Bible and you’re the ones who keep us on the air. Of course, if you just would like to give a gift to Bibleline, that would be wonderful.
And you can do that by credit card over the phone or send a check to Bibleline and our operators will be glad to recite that address for you or they’ll be glad to send you an envelope with the address on it. We’re gonna go right now to the phone lines. We have Annette patiently waiting on her cell phone and Annette welcome to Bibleline, you’re on the air. Hi, how are you today? Good. Good. My question is about judging and judgment.
We often hear a lot of people And I think a lot of non-believers like to throw the status to about that we’re not supposed to judge. And I know that there is the ultimate judgment of God that we’re not to take upon ourselves. But as Christians and among Christians, aren’t we to exercise a certain type of judgment and is in that kind of what some scriptures tell us just by what they’re asking us to do, like to be were false teachers, to be accountable to one another.
And in 1 Corinthians 5 and 9, when talks about the brother who is in you know a lifestyle of sin that you know there to put him away if he doesn’t you know what’s exactly or himself so I was just wondering if you could speak on that a little bit we had a discussion at my family and of course they just threw out that we’re not supposed to judge and I was trying to explain to them that we’re not but you know there are certain things that we are to do as Christians among Christians that are asking us to exercise a certain type of judgment and I’m going to hang up and let you comment on it.
We’re absolutely to do that. We are to judge whether somebody’s doctor is correct or not. The area where we’re not to judge is in the area where we are not capable of judging. That’s a person’s motives, what their thoughts are. You know, there are some people that We’ll look at somebody and say, I just know they’re up to no good. And we can’t know somebody’s thoughts. And we can’t know things that are unseen. And of course the Bible warns in 1 Corinthians 4 about that kind of judgment.
It says don’t judge anything until Christ comes back. And then he’ll make manifest the counsels of the heart. And then he’ll reveal the hidden things of darkness. things that you can’t see, you don’t know anything about, you’re not the judge in those areas. But when somebody tells you that they reject Christ deity, for example the cults, the Jehovah’s Witnesses, deny the deity of Christ, you can judge and say these people are wrong and they deny other doctors and we can say well you’re wrong about that.
And if you die without Christ you’ll be lost forever. So if somebody tells me that they are working their way to heaven, I can judge and say, well, they’re not saved. They’re not going to heaven at all. So there are areas where we can judge, but the areas that we’re not to judge, first Corinthians 4 is a good passage where it says, I think, in the first six verses that we are to reserve judgment until Christ returns in the areas of the day.
Where we are not capable of judging because we don’t know the hidden things of darkness. We don’t know the councils of somebody’s heart. We don’t know what’s really inside and I remember one person I thought he just loved our church and he was coming and you know, in a private conversation with him, he was quite frank with me and he says, I come to your church to make business contacts. It’s a great place to do business. And I said, whoa, I never do that.
And of course, then it was a great place. was out of the bag and I said, you know, that’s not a good reason to come. And he knew of course knew that. But you know, on the outside, if I was to judge, I would say this guy is really a super duper Christian and he loves to be here at the church. He’s always friendly talking to people. I didn’t realize he was handing it his business card and he was arranging business with different people to sell or market whatever he was selling.
I forget what it was. But you know, I wouldn’t have known that if he hadn’t told me. Those were hidden things and that was what was in his heart and why he came to church. But not everybody comes to church for the right reason. And so we can’t judge why they’re coming. But if they tell you why they’re coming then you can know and judge in that area. I hope that helps a little bit. But I like those verses in 1 Corinthians.
Otherwise we are to judge and we are to test the ones that we hear. There are many false teachers. The Bible says don’t be gullible. Don’t believe everything you hear. But check out what they say against the Bible. And if they don’t agree with the Bible, the Bible says there’s no light in them and that we should not have fellowship with the Unfertful Works of darkness. So thank you Annette. We’re now going to go to Jackson ville, Florida. We have anonymous there on the line.
Anonymous. Welcome to Bibleline. Good morning Dr. Ester. I just want to share something and then I’ll hang up and let you just kind of touch on it again. It’s about the job of witnesses I had yesterday to witness to one of them. But I think I didn’t do a very good job at it, but I’m not as much grounded in all the scripture like I should. I was just totally blown away by some of the stuff that they said.
I think one thing I wanted to touch on is that she told me that they believe that Jesus, I think she said with Michael the archangel which I was totally shocked here amazing that how could they believe that and then the other thing is they think that God is finished with Jerusalem with Israel they turn their backs on them there’s no more they don’t believe in all this you know new stuff with the new coming prophecy about you know the entire and you know this stuff the same way we do I mean it’s just what they believe is just so far out there I was just totally shocked that you know what to say to her after she told me that Jesus himself was not God, that he was Michael the Angel, and that he is a God, but he’s not God himself, Jehovah, and that he was
Michael. Could you please tell me where to get that from, and I’ll hang up and listen to your answer. Okay. Well, it probably got it from the devil himself, because obviously it says in the first John that the two denied Christ being God in the flesh is of the spirit of Antichrist, which is the spirit of Antichrist, this is the devil himself, who is the spirit and dwells and empowers the Antichrist. So obviously this is where it’s all coming from.
The Jehovah’s Witnesses are Jehovahless. You need to point out 1 John 2, 23, whose whoever denied the son, the same hath not the Father. So because they denied the son and say he’s Michael the Archangel, they don’t have Jehovah, they don’t have the Father. So they’re Jehovahless. Always like to share that with them. Did you know that you Jehovah’s Witnesses are Jehovahless? And then if you show them 2 John verse 9, And it says if you deny the sun and don’t recognize it, Jesus has got in the flesh, you don’t have God.
So they’re godless and Jehovahless. And they don’t even realize it. We need to pray for these people. I’ve led many of them to Christ, but they are tough because they are so brainwashed and they believe obviously things which are not biblical. It’s easier to tell you all the things that they don’t believe rather than what they do believe. The witnesses are very confused and they are lost. Thank you, Anonymous. appreciate that call and we’re now going to go to Arthur in Belgrade, Florida.
Arthur, welcome to Bibleline your On the Air. Yes, how are you doing, Pastor? I would like to know, is there any scripture in the Bible that speak on the age or accountability for a young person’s salvation? I believe there is. I didn’t know for a long time if there were one and I’ve heard different preachers set certain ages. But apparently it’s going of very, because every child develops mentally differently or different rates of speed. But I found in the last verse in the book of Jonah a most amazing verse.
God was talking with Jonah after God has spared Nineveh and he was telling Jonah that There were 120,000. He said, that didn’t know their right hand from their left hand. So apparently those were the innocent ones that would have gone to heaven should they have perished. But the age of accountability therefore is set by when they develop mentally enough to be able to discern their left hand from the right hand. Personally, I think I know some adults that can’t even do that.
But I think that’s the only way to do that. But I think that’s the only way to do that. maybe they’re not accountable but I’m teasing but that’s apparently where it is. So it’s pretty young and when children can the certain are left hand from the right hand, then I would say you better lead them to Christ. Okay. You said that thing was not shown. Jonah the last verse chapter four I think it’s verse 16. Okay. Thank you very much.
All right. Arthur down in Belgrade, Florida and welcome to my blind. We have Rick now in Lutz, Florida. Rick, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Good morning, Dr. Hank, how you doing? Good. Yes, I’m in here shutting some of Genesis. And you know, Genesis 10 talks about the generations of Noah’s sons. So that, and then I’m reading through all that. And then Genesis 1031, just says, these are the sons of Shymn after the families, after their tongues and their lands after their nations.
of the families of the sons of Noah after their generations and their nations by these were the nations divided in the earth after the flood. Well, you go here and look at this word tongue. Tongues could mean language, correct? I mean, that’s what I’m looking at in this song. Okay, well, then you go to Genesis 11 and it says the whole 11-1, the whole earth was of one language and of one speech. When it’s saying they’re laying tongues, they’re not talking about a separate language And well in chapter 10 it explains in chapter 11 what happened how they were divided And actually chapter 10 you’re just having the different descendants and how they went and where they went and of course They did develop languages after the tower babble, but Chapter 10 really precedes what’s going on in chapter 11, okay, all right.
Thank you Alright, you’re so welcome and that was Rick Collingin from Lutz, Florida. We have Sandy in Tampa, Florida, Collingin. Sandy, welcome to Bibleline You’re On Here. Hi, Dr. Hank. I would like to expound on this Galatian 189 who fits that category. The Catholics say they believe in the death baron resurrecting the Christ, but they add works to it and that’s a Ephesians 289. They’re cursed. I would like to expound on that Galatians 8-9, who fits that category because they think they’re saved and they’re not, they add work to their gospel.
Well I’ll sure do that Sandy and thank you for calling in. Galatians 1-8-9 talks about a perverted message of the gospel where you add any works to what Christ has done, makes it a message that will not save, a message that is a curse of God, a message that the person preaching it is a cursed as well. It says in Galatians 1 8, though we are an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you, then that which we have preached unto you, let him be a cursed.
And then he goes on in verse 9 and says, so now let me say again, that if any man preach any other gospel, then that which we have preached unto you, let him be a cursed. And verse 10 gives us a real clue as to what’s going on there because it talks about pleasing men. And Paul said, I’m not speaking to please men, but those whose agenda is to please people will obviously pervert the gospel and water it down and make it something that people will go along with.
But when you preach grace without works, it seems to cause division or persecution. That’s what Paul says. He said in chapter 5 and verse 11 that if he had continued to preach the law as the means of salvation or works, then he said, why am I persecuted? The offense of the cross is ceased. So there is an offense when you preach Christ only in his death at the cross. And that’s really true. And so those who want to please men will compromise the message.
In fact, those false teachers who have the broadest base of listeners oftentimes are very clever in disguising what they really believe and they just make the message sound so nice, but they don’t really come out and give you the true message which is that you’re saved forever. It’s not based upon anything that you have done or will do, but it’s based totally upon what Christ did at the cross. If you read Galatians 1-6, which you have to proceed there, it talks about the gospel of Christ, perverted by something added to what Christ did.
If you believe in Christ plus baptism, that’s a false message. If you believe in Christ plus works, that’s a false message. If you believe in Christ plus confirmation, that’s a false message. And if you believe in Christ plus living the Christian life, that’s a false message. Christ plus anything equals no salvation. But Christ alone equals salvation. So when you trust Christ alone, God saves you. So a lot of churches fit into that category and I was raised in one just like that where I was taught Christ plus.
So they taught Christ, but you had to work and earn your way to heaven. And I was always led to believe that I was gaining new heights every day as I worked my way on my way upward. And I was totally misled. It was not until I was eighteen that I discovered that salvation was a free gift through simply trusting Christ as Savior. Thank you, Sandy, and I hope that helps a little bit. That’s a powerful, powerful passage. The whole book of Galatians is written with great passion by the apostle Paul to warn about if you pervert the message of the gospel, then it’s a longer a saving message and those who believe the false, accursed message won’t be saved.
You can see how Paul was very, very, very concerned and he was warning them not to allow that to happen. We have Cathy in parish Florida and she leaves an offer of questions. She says, Catholics believe during the Lord’s Supper, the bread and the wine actually become the body and the blood of Christ. Where did this belief come about? Is there any evidence in the early church of this practice? It was actually added many, many centuries after Christ had gone back to heaven and obviously is a false practice.
But they began the whole practice of the mass precedes Christianity. You can read about it in Jeremiah 44, where it talks about the people then offering up these round cakes. By the way, those who observe the so-called Lord Supper and use the round cake, that comes from the false worship of the sun God, S-U-N, Sun. The Jewish people in observing the Passover and the Lord Supper, they use the bread, the which is rectangular in shape. And the round breadcake was obviously something Jeremiah warned about as being another religious belief.
And in Roman Catholicism, they put that round wafer in a thing called a monsterance where you have glass on both sides and you can see that piece of bread, but outward from it you see all these little spikes going up. That’s the sun’s rays. It really is the sun God, not the S-O-N of God, but the S-U-N. And that comes from paganism and was went into Christianity and has nothing to do with Christ at all. And of course the elements never are transformed into the body and the blood of Christ.
If you read 1 Corinthians 11, it talks about as often as you eat this bread. It doesn’t say the flesh because the bread remains bread as you observe the Lord’s Supper and the juice remains juice. So it’s a pagan practice. We have a book here that will enlighten you. It’s called Two Babylons and it’s not very expensive and that one traces this history of the so-called Eucharist and the round bread cake that would be used which was really having to do with worshiping the sun god s u n not the s o m we’re now going to go to tony and a tona beach in tony welcome to bible on you’re on the air but yeah hi doctor I have a quick question and it was in Galatian when Paul was corrected here and I think it’s in the chapter there after where God talked about grafting in and be careful.
Is that return to that is and he may promises to Abraham will will will be with a jewish people still enter into heaven without christ no it will not they have to trust christ in order to be saved Remember, Christ himself was Jewish, God took on Jewish flesh. All the early Christians were Jewish, and those that were saved were saved by trusting Christ on Pentecost. Peter preaches to the Jewish leadership that had crucified Christ and tells them that they needed to trust Christ.
Later in Acts 4, 12, Peter says neither is their salvation in any other, for there’s none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved. And he’s talking to a Jewish audience. So only through Christ can a person be saved Okay, and so that that doesn’t make because he said he made promises to Abraham and that Then I’m reading it I mean because the promise to Abraham was that the Jewish people would make it in no The promise was that anybody that would have the faith of Abraham to believe on the coming Savior Jesus Would be saved it says in Galatians 3 7 Know ye that they which are of the faith of Abraham are really the children of Abraham and the children of God.
And it says in verse eight of bookings three, that the scripture for seeing that God would justify the heathen through faith preached before the gospel of Abraham. So Abraham heard the gospel, believed the gospel, and those that have the same faith as that of Abraham to believe on the gospel message are saved, but no one else. Okay, and also one other thing, Dr. I looked up, I listened to what you said about Joe Osteen, your commentary and I always thought that as I listened to him even further but I looked up the interview with him and Larry King and I was disappointed in Joe.
I was really disappointed you could look it up in your listeners can look it up under Larry King and they’ll have the whole interview and he plainly states, I mean he skirts around and he says I don’t know because Larry King questioned him about other past discovery there say without Christ you know make it into heaven. Joel said well I don’t know I don’t know. I mean anybody can look it up. I mean I was just so disappointed and I just want to thank you for enlightening and your show and all the things that you always say I go and I research them and you always.
Okay Tony thanks a lot from Daytona Beach sounds like a nice place to be right now. Thank you Tony and it’s amazing but I do have to admire the fact that he was honest to say he didn’t know he didn’t know he didn’t know. Unfortunately here is a person leading many people who doesn’t know himself how to be saved apparently from his own words and that is sad. So every believer needs to be going to the word to see what they believe and to make sure that what they believe is correct.
Well, we have Bill in 7-old Florida and he calls in and says, after the resurrection of Christ, there were those that came out of their graves. We’re seen by living people. If men are appointed once to die, did the ones that came out of the grave receive their glorified body and then they could not have died again. Very good point Bill and apparently that’s what happened. We We believe Christ rose on the feast of first fruit state. When you read the Old Testament, it was a harvest feast, a picture of the resurrection, and what they would do is go out into fields and gather handfuls of grain, bring them before the priest as evidence of a harvest that was become.
These were samplings. When Christ came back from the dead and fulfilling that type, he came back from the dead, but They also brought a sampling of the resurrection by giving some of the Old Testament saints a probably very small number, like a handful, their resurrection bodies. And they just disappeared off the scene and I’m assured that they went on to heaven, being the sampling that yes, there is a future resurrection that you, Bill and I, as believers, will be in and we’re going to get our resurrection bodies.
So I agree with you 100%. That’s exactly right. If they didn’t get their glorified body, they could not die again. I don’t think they did. I really think this was a sampling and a fulfillment of the feast day. In 1 Corinthians 15, 20-22, it tells us that Christ is the first fruits of the resurrection, clearly a reference to that feast in Leviticus 23 called the feast of first fruits. So certainly that’s the case. in Tampa, Florida, says Moses and Elijah are to come back and preach for three and a half years.
After that, what happens in the next three and a half years before Christ comes? Well, if you read Revelation 11, they are killed. And then, of course, the darkest hours of the tribulation period will follow where the Antichrist is really in power and becomes the wicked later, the Bible says that he will be. So, no doubt about it. You don’t want to be in the tribulation period at all, but the last half, the last three and a half years will be the worst.
If you haven’t trusted Jesus as your Savior, would you do it? Right now, just say, Lord, I’m a sinner. I don’t understand much about the Bible. But I believe Jesus Christ died for me and shed his blood and paid my sin that in full was buried and rose again from the dead. You know, the moment you do that, God will save you and you can be assured of going to heaven. I hope that you would do that. I’m concerned that maybe someone listening today is very close to death.
And if you die without Christ, my friend, it’s too late. No one can help you once you have died if you die without Christ. Right now, Christ can’t help you. He can save you. When you trust Him, who’s to ever believe in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. But if you die without Christ, there’s no church, there’s no organization, there’s nothing that anyone can do that will help you at all. And you’re forever lost once you die without Him.
Don’t slip into eternity without Christ. You’ve got to run. Keep looking up. Jesus is coming. You’ve been listening to Bibleline, a presentation of Bibleline ministries of Tampa, Florida.
