Want to talk a little bit today about being converted? You know, I was saved when I was 18, but I wasn’t converted until a year later. That’s right. I was converted a year later. Peter, the apostle, was saved, and then three years later, he was converted. Are you believing that? You know, it’s amazing how we don’t carefully look at terms and how they’re used in the Bible. And sometimes, therefore, we mislead people by our use of them. So I don’t like to use the term converted for a salvation experience because it most often is used of the Christian life experience.
And as I just said, Peter wasn’t converted until After the resurrection. So I was saved at 18, but I wasn’t converted till I was 19. Peter was saved, but it wasn’t until after three years of being had disciple and not until after the resurrection we find that Peter actually get converted. So, what does it mean to be converted? I believe that this has caused so much confusion that it has been a tool in Satan’s arsenal to add works to salvation because the word converted really means to change and we don’t change to be saved.
You know, the hymn writer had it correct when he said, what can wash away my sin? The answer being nothing but the blood. Nothing but the blood can wash away our sin. Human effort or conduct cannot contribute to our salvation at all. Faith alone in the shed blood of Jesus Christ determines one’s eternal destiny. Salvation is not based upon a person’s behavior, conduct or works, but is based upon his faith or trust in Jesus Christ as the one who made a full payment for our sins at the cross.
Yet there are those who would sing the words of the hymn we just mentioned here, What Can Wash Away My Sin, Nothing But The Blood Being The Answer, and at the same time contradict those words by having a faulty view of the doctrine of conversion. They would say something like this, Nothing But The Blood Of Christ Can Wash Where My sins, but you must change the way you live if you are going to be saved. You must be converted.
Don’t you have to be converted? Unwittingly, perhaps a Christian would therefore be teaching human works for salvation, contradicting clear scripture. The Bible says in Ephesians, by grace, by mercy, are you saved through faith and that none of yourselves is the gift of God. It’s not of works lest any man should boast or brag. Ephesians 2, 8, 9. Salvation is not dependent upon what we have done or have not done, nor is it dependent upon what we will do or will not do.
It’s dependent upon what Christ has done on the cross of Calvary. Jesus said in John 3, 18, he to believe it is not condemned. He to believe if not is condemned already because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. Notice it’s about belief or unbelief, but not about our obedience or conduct. Whether a person is condemned or not condemned or whether he goes to heaven or whether he He goes to hell is based upon whether or not you believe or trust on Christ or do not trust on Christ.
But what about conversion? What about conversion? When does it take place? The Bible says be converted. What does it mean? When does it take place? Well, I like the example of the Apostle Peter. The Apostle Peter was converted three years after he was saved. Peter the Apostle had already been saved for three years, he was then converted. Are you shocked to hear that? I was shocked as I discovered that into my Bible and it’s just amazing. Most times we never hear this ever taught.
What does this do to the use of the phrase converted or be converted? be only tell saved persons to be converted? And then what does it mean? What should a saved person do to be converted? Well, let’s look at Peter’s conversion. First of all, Peter’s salvation occurred when his brother Andrew led him to Christ. In John 1, we have a verse which says, Andrew, he first findeth his brother Simon and says to him, we have found the Messiah, being interpreted as the Christ and he brought him to Jesus.
So Peter here, very simply trust Christ, Andrew brings him to Christ and he trusts Christ as Savior. But Peter’s conversion is mentioned after The Lord had already instituted the Lord’s Supper, and just before he enters the Garden of Gethsemane, the night of the betrayal when Christ that night is taken by the soldiers and is arrested. And the next day he’s nailed to the Cross of Calvary. Look at Luke 22.32. Are you ready? Luke 22.32. Luke 22 32 here Jesus says I prayed for the Peter that thy faith failed not and When thou art converted strengthened my brethren So actually Peter became converted after the resurrection of Jesus Christ Peter’s conversion after the resurrection of Christ had to do with Peter’s Christian life and not his salvation So at least three years at a lap says Peter trusted Jesus as his Savior was saved.
Peter later testified that the way we live our lives has nothing to do with our salvation. In 1 Peter 1 8 18 and 19, Peter says, You must know or recognize that you were redeemed, ransomed from the useless, fruitful way of living inherited from your forefathers. others. Not with corruptible things, such as silver or gold, but you were purchased with the precious blood of Christ, the Messiah, that of a sacrificial lamb without blemish or spot. Sometimes people will come up to me and they’ll ask me, Hank, when were you converted?
And I love the question being asked, because it gives me a chance to explain what’s going on here and I usually say, here’s my answer. About a year after I got saved. About a year after I got saved. I usually see mouths kind of drop a little bit and an expression, a blank expression on a person’s face like, what is he talking about? You see, conversion is not about the salvation experience. I got saved but I got converted about a year later.
Peter got saved but converted three years after he got saved. What about the phrase being converted? Is it use of salvation? Well the answer is yes in one place. In Matthew 18 and 3, Jesus says, fairly, fairly I say unto you, except you be converted to become his little children, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. But notice carefully. When talking about salvation, Jesus did not say be converted and then say no more, but Jesus went on to define what he meant by be converted when he used it in connection with salvation.
He says, except you be converted and become as little children. In other words, he defined the meaning of conversion as related to salvation to be that an adult would have to be a little child to be saved. What do we learn from this? Well, little children are totally dependent upon their parents to live or to survive. In the same way, a person must be totally dependent upon Jesus Christ and his death and shed blood at the cross of Calvary in order to be saved.
What can wash away my sin? The answer being nothing but the blood of Jesus. And then Jesus in his illustration says, Whosoever shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me. And he’s talking here about these children, these little ones who are saved by belief in him, that they believed in him. An adult must be converted in that way in order to be saved. In other words, the adult must place his simple childlike faith in Jesus Christ in order to be saved.
Salvation is a gift. The Christian life is based upon our changing our life around to conform to the Word of God. I was converted a year after I got saved. You may be saved and not converted yet. Maybe you need to consider being converted. I’m Dr. Englund, and this is Bibleline. We’re going to go to the college. We’ve got lots of people waiting to get on the air. And thank you again for listening to Bibleline as we come to each and every day here out of Tampa, Florida from our studios here at the Calvary Community Church where I am the pastor.
We’re going to now talk to Sean in Richmond, Virginia. Sean, welcome to Bibleline Yarnier. Good morning, welcome to this room. Good. I have two questions for you. I asked an example. I would give this to my that phrase saying, well, God, I want to know about dating someone or what would be the date of this person. You know, something like that. Is that that fool with your things through something like that? I believe it’s not the way to go.
Actually, many things are clearly spelled out in God’s word that are yes or no and our gods will or our not gods will, but in the gray areas. The Bible says that the peace of God is not a good person. of God will guide our hearts. There are several verses in the Epistles of Paul to talk about being guided in that way. So as you pray about something, if it is not spelled out as being against God’s will, sometimes people say they’re going to do something even though they prayed about it, but the scriptures forbidden.
For example, I’ve had people, you know, when You’re to marry someone you’re to marry somebody who’s another believer and Sometimes I’ve had a couple come to me and they said we believe God wants us to get married and and one’s unsaved And I’ll say but you can’t do that according to the Bible. They said well we prayed about it well, it doesn’t matter if you pray about it if you know what the scripture says that it’s not scriptural then you’re not to do it period and And so the only solution is to get the other person saved and then determine whether it is truly God’s will for you to get married enough.
But you don’t violate Scripture and marry somebody and save. So in any case, we need to have God’s peace. The Bible talks about if you doubt in Romans 14 that that is the opposite of faith. and doubtful things you probably ought not to do because that’s probably a signal from God that is not his will. But if you have peace and it doesn’t violate Scripture, then you’re to move forward and that is the will of God for you. I have a question.
I stumbled upon Benny Hinn’s website with some research online and came across his website and I went to his page talking about salvation. It was very spiritual in his salvation but it was very confusing because of course those feelings. was very deceptive with that, as we know with his finances, and very deceptive as well, as he spends his money on him, wondering, did the Bible talk about that? Someone can’t beat for the devil and for God. How did he think that’s possible?
They had a salvation began to still be deceptive and so many other areas. Well, I don’t think his plan of salvation is correct either. I heard him just the other night. give a message that it was all works for salvation. He mixes discipleship with the plan of salvation and says that if you’re to be saved, you have to have those ingredients that are required of disciples which are works. So he doesn’t have the correct message at all. So you just need to be listening very carefully to what they say.
The devil will give you a lot of truth and you’ll notice the cults will come right up in your face with the Bible, the Jones Witnesses, the Seventh-Ed Venice and the Christian scientists and all the other cults out there. They’ll claim to believe the Bible and actually use the Bible, but they usually pervert the Bible and change what it says. And so you’re not really getting the full scoop. So you need to carefully look at the Bible and compare what you are hearing against the Bible and make your choice in that way.
But as far as the signs and wonders and those things, I would stay away from it because Jesus said in the last days, over there in Matthew 24, 24, there shall arise false preachers and they shall show great signs and wonders or miracles. Even so much of it were possible they would deceive the very elect. And he says in verse 25 of Matthew 24, Behold I have told you before. In other words, I am telling you before it happens, he gives us really 2,000 years advanced warning.
Don’t get tricked by signs and wonders in the last days. He doesn’t say genuine believers will be doing signs and wonders. He says false preachers will come along and do great signs and wonders. I think that’s a flag that we need to watch out for anybody claiming Science and wonders today that is according to Christ on words something that we’ve done by false preachers as we approach his return. Thank you, Sean. I hope that helps and we’ll be praying for you.
We have melody in Largo, Florida and melody. Welcome to Bibleline you’re on the earth. Yes. Hi, how are you? Good. I would like to know what you believe is an angel. You know, he honors the Bible. talk a lot about the uh… angels and uh… what is your belief if the loved one who is a believer died and later uh… people may say they loved one has come back and and visit them in a dream you know quickly do you believe in uh…
this type and what does the bible say about it and i’m going to hang up in the computer answer sure melody and the answer is that the dead don’t come back once you die you’re forever with the Lord it says in 2 Corinthians 5 8 if you’re a believer and die you’re absent from the body and present with Lord and you don’t get to come back and so they don’t come back and appear to people here on the earth Now, Satan would love to have you believe you can contact the dead and throughout the Old Testament there are strong verses that warn against praying to the dead, seeking the dead, or looking to make it a contact with the dead.
That’s all in the occult realm. What happens is, Satan’s angels will impersonate the dead. When you think you’ve actually made contact with Uncle Harry, it’s really an angel that is impersonating Uncle Harry who probably knows enough about Uncle Harry to make you think you’ve really reached him. But that is a deception. The Bible warns against that we are forbidden to try to contact the dead or pray to the dead. And obviously many people do that. this present pope said that he talks to the past pope.
That’s right. He’s praised to the dead for his guidance so that the previous pope who died might give him good advice in his present pope. That’s forbidden and yet the Catholic Church violates this all the time and even praying to Mary is a violation of scripture because again that is in the category of praying to the dead. 1 Timothy 2, 5 says there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. So to try to pray to God through Mary is a violation of scripture because we are never to pray to the dead.
And Mary is in that category. We to pray to God through Christ, who is living. We’re never to pray through a dead person. And so that’s all forbidden and we should not go in that realm at all. But angels are present. Angels by the way are always masculine. Angels don’t have wings. There are no female angels. You know, baby angels, angels don’t have wings or halos. And by the way, they apparently don’t sing. There’s not a verse in the Bible anywhere that says an angel sings anything and never has.
And so those are just kind of some interesting things. But we don’t need to worry about angels. We do have as believers angels that watch over us, but we don’t need to concern ourselves with that. concern ourselves with living for Christ, God will send whatever number of angels are needed to help us if we are needing that angelic help. But we are not to ourselves pray to angels or look to angels. We are simply to pray to the Lord.
The Bible says, if you are steadfast in the Lord, that Satan will flee from you. So we don’t have to worry about the forces of evil. All we need to do is try to take care of business and let our lives be lived for Christ. Thank you, Melody. Thank you for calling in. We have Tony in Richmond, Virginia. Tony, welcome to Bibleline you’re on there. Good morning. I have a question about, well, I just want to make a comment to Sean and Richmond and sort of others that may believe that the Lord will never answer a prayer that’s anything contradictory to what he said in his word.
And I’d press back to my statement of it’s so important for us to study the word and to be able to rightfully divide the word and what it’s saying to us. The question I have though is about Peter being saved. I didn’t think that she could be saved until Jesus. Head down on the cross. Well, you can be saved, but the sin had not yet been paid for. Old Testament salvation, they had the promise of salvation, but the actual full receiving of the complete salvation was not a did not occur to Christ died.
So in other words, they had the promise of salvation and people were saved throughout the Old Testament. And Peter was saved. But it wasn’t until Christ died that actually we have the new covenant ratified by the shed but of Christ, which is more than a promise. It’s an absolute covenant based upon God’s word that he would can save anyone that would simply come to him in faith and trust him a Savior. Very well. All right. That brings up a question.
I know one more question. It’s about the kingdom that the kingdom comes. Hasn’t the kingdom since Jesus has completed the work and rose and now it’s with the Father. Hasn’t the kingdom come and lives within us or is that… Alright, we’ll have to take that after the break because here we are. It’s time for you to break. We’ll have to come back Tony, hang on and just listen. We’ll talk about that when I get back from break. Don’t go away.

Well we have a lot of callers sitting out there ready to go and we’re gonna now talk to Marnie in St. Petersburg and Marnie welcome to Bible Life. Hi, how are you? Good, turn your radio down. Good, hey, can you hear me now? I do. Okay, I have a question on you’re talking about speaking to the dead and And when life’s in scriptures, I have a friend who thinks that that’s not wrong to do. Alright, well, Isaiah 819 comes to mind where it says we’re forbidden to pray to the dead.
And numbers of them are in Deuteronomy and Leviticus. I think Deuteronomy 18 is a whole list of things that are forbidden in the area of the cult. The occult that we’re not to do. Let me see if I have the chapter correct. I’m turning back there in my Bible right now. But let’s see here. Deuteronomy. Let’s see. It’s not that chapter. It must be earlier.
I am turning my Bible pages right now. And I’m striking out. It’s got to be that I’m going to go to Leviticus. I know there are verses in Deuteronomy, but Leviticus chapter 20 has a list of things that are forbidden that are in the area of the occult and verse 27 in particular also verse 6 talks about contacting the dead and then also in chapter 18 of Leviticus there are a a number of verses that would apply and there are others.
I’ll have to kind of dig them out for you. Okay, great. But Isaiah 8, 19 is a great one. I know the one that comes to mind is the one about, I think, when Saul… Yeah, in the first Samuel 28 and he was forbidden and obviously he went anyway because God wasn’t to answering him and there the dead really came back. There he asked for Samuel the prophet to come up and he did and the medium freaked out. She screams and of course Samuel the prophet comes up and tells Saul that he’s going to die the next day in battle along with his sons and would join him uh…
which means it’s all was saved because samia was saved and he would actually be with samia then upon his death but that’s an interesting passage for sure but in general when people are trying to contact the dead they’re not getting the people i would think that they’re getting no no no they’re really making contact with if they make contact at all they’re making contact with uh… angels i think that impersonated that so they’re really getting gypped plus their getting lured into Satan’s realm which is certainly something you don’t want to to do you’re gonna ask for big trouble when you do that yes I used to be into that a little bit before I was saved and when she brought this up I freaked out and I thought okay I need to find some scriptures to tell her yeah but anyway Deuteronomy 18 verses 9 through 14 are
very, very good. We’re, you’re not to, it talks here about a necromancer which is conducting the dead, you’re not to do that. Okay, great. Alright, thank you for your help. Okay, Marney, and thank you for calling in, and it was Marney in St. Petersburg, and Deuteronomy 1811 has that in it for you. We now have Carmen in Tampa, Florida, Carmen. Welcome to Bible and you’re on the air. Carmen are you there? Oh yes. Okay. Hi, I’m Dr. Lindstrom. I want to ask you a question.
Where in the Bible does this say there There shall never be peace in Israel until the Lord comes. Well, the Bible says that Christ is the one who will bring peace. He is the Prince of Peace. And until he does return, there will be no peace. He’s the one who will bring peace. If you read Isaiah 9, verse 6 and 7, it says that a child is born, a son is given, and it says the government shall be upon his shoulder.
And that refers to the governments of this world when he brings peace. And his name shall be called. wonderful counselor, the mighty God, the everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace. And then it says of his government and of his kingdom, there shall be no end. And obviously it is a kingdom of peace on earth, good will toward men. What the angels announced at the first coming was postponed because he was rejected. But when he comes at the second coming, He will bring peace on the whole earth.
out in the Bible. Well, I’m a little confused because I mean I read the Bible every day. And I don’t see exactly where you’re saying that it can say nine. Verse six and seven is a prophecy about the coming of Christ and how that Christ is the one that will bring peace on the earth. If you look over in Micah 2, which is also a prophecy of Christ and how He would come and be born in Bethlehem, and it talks about Jesus being the one that would bring peace on the earth.
And it says here that this man in verse 5 of Micah chapter 5 shall be the peace. He is going to be the one that will bring peace and he’s the one that is from everlasting that would be born or take him on flesh in the city of Bethlehem. But all the prophets talk about peace coming as a result of the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ coming and of course this peace will come at his second coming. It also tells us in Zechariah that his first coming he would come as a suffering Savior and die to pay for our sins and he would come lowly in meek, Zachariah 9.9 and he would be just and having salvation lowly in writing upon and ask the cult of an ass.
But then it says in verse 10 that at his second coming it says he shall speak peace under the nations. In his dominion shall be from sea to sea even from the river to the ends of the earth. So clearly he’s the one that will bring peace on the earth at his second coming. Oh, okay. But the thing is that, I mean, the faith, you know, there shall never be peace in Israel until the Lord comes. That you understand what I’m trying to say?
Exactly. And it says there, for example, in the Psalms, pray for the peace of Jerusalem. But it says that when Jesus comes, He’ll bring peace to Jerusalem and then peace will flow Isaiah says like a river to the ends of the earth. And so peace will begin at Jerusalem when Christ comes back to rule and reign over the city of Jerusalem. In Zechariah chapter 2, it talks about how that Christ when He comes back will actually bring peace first to Jerusalem which is where he comes back to and then it will flow out to the ends of the earth.
The whole earth will one day be at peace as a result of the Lord Jesus Christ returning. We’d Zechariah chapter 2, it’s a whole chapter about this and it tells us here that he will bring peace to the whole earth when he comes back. okay i’m definitely gonna look into this thank you so much that the limited you’re welcome carmen the world all around the world thank you so much you are so blessed by honey back god bless you carmen thank you we have uh…
jim indel and florida and jim welcome to bible and you’re on the air good morning sir good morning i would like to you may have comment about uh… cults Yes. And you stated that the Seventh Day Adventist is a cult. Can you describe to me where or why you think it is a cult? Well, first of all, a cult usually has a source outside the Bible that is superior to the Bible. And the writings of Ellen G. White are the, apparently, the lenses through which all Seventh Ed.
Meta seem to read the Bible. If you just got rid of LNG white, I think the seven dead minutes would come out clean and believe what everybody else believes But they deny the basic tenets of Christianity that salvation There is no hell, for example. They believe in soul sleep, they believe in salvation by works. So there are numerous things that I think are just, you know, apart from the very basic deductions of the Bible. But I think the big one is the fact that they have an authority that is greater than the Bible.
That’s the writings of Elton G. White. The Jones Witnesses have the Watchtower Society. The Witnesses actually admit that if their people didn’t read the Watchtower literature in two years they would become a post-date, in other words they’d really become Christians. But they need the Watchtower to keep them online where they don’t shift over to believe the doctrines of Christianity in the Bible because they also deny the basic kings of Christianity and they have another outside source that’s greater than yours.
And the Christian scientists the same way they have the writings of Mary Baker Eddy. Her book The Key to Science and Scriptures and Health guide them as to how to approach the Bible and interpret the Bible. And So, we have a major part of their doctrine. Look, to me, like these people could be teachers, rather than someone that you would actually say pray to or something of that nature. They are the… the teachers like you know they read the Bible through the lenses of whatever those teachers are.
And so they don’t really feel confident to go to the Bible on their own, they have to go to those books first to see what they have to say about the Bible and that’s what they really believe and that’s what they espouse because if you read your Bible there is a hell. No doubt about it. But if you read LNG White there is no hell. So seven to end I’m going to say there is no hell because they believe LNG White and her writings above the Bible.
Well, very good. And that doesn’t mean they’re not good people. I mean, but they just are deceived and they need to recognize that they need to just forget Elan’s white and just go directly to the Bible and they would come out clean. But I’m afraid that denying hell won’t put out the flames. Hell is still real. Well, I know that was my question to one of my best friends. What about the worm at Diaphnot? There you go. Okay. Thank you now, gentlemen.
Thank you, sir. Appreciate you calling in from to land, Florida. And we’re on over that whole area, which includes everything from St. Augustine down to, I think, Titusville and back over toward Orlando. And thank you for calling in. We have Brad in Clearwater Florida and Brad, you’re on the air. Good morning, Pastor Lin’s, Tom. Good morning. I have a question. I know that Iraq is getting us close to the One World government and I was wondering if would Iraq most likely surrender to a Democrat U.S.
president? I’ll hang up and listen to your response by radio. I don’t think the people of Iraq are going to submit. They basically try to get their own independent government over there. But I think the biblical event that’s going to happen is that the Antichrist, who I believe comes out of this country, will actually take over the whole place. Everything that was ancient Assyria will be militarily taken over and controlled by the Antichrist. Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Israel and Egypt.
That’s right, even Israel is going to be militarily taken over by the West. And obviously every day we’re getting stronger. You know we’re building a huge base in Israel. You don’t hear much about it. But it’s along the Mediterranean or south of Tel Aviv. But we’re getting entrenched into the Middle East and it’s all part of the end time plan. The Bible said that the Jewish people would go back to the state of Israel and that would be the last days and the whole world then would become focused on the Middle East and look at how that has happened.
It’s unbelievable. But you know when you go to the Middle East you’d wonder why would anybody even care because it’s all a lot of just desert and sand. I remember flying on the Egyptian Airlines from Athens to Cairo and I asked if I could go up in the cockpit and I did in the… He was a great educator, got up and said, you can take my seat and I sat up there and I don’t know where he went, but he never came back.
I was in the cockpit all the way across the Mediterranean and as we flew into Egyptian airspace and as we landed in Cairo and actually they shut down the engines and I walked out with the flight crew out of the cockpit. I was there the whole flight. It was interesting, it got the witness to the pilots and they enjoyed talking in English and it was a great time to witness about Jesus to Egyptian pilots. But as we crossed over Egypt, I saw nothing but sand as far as I could see.
And then as they told us that we were approaching Cairo, they pointed out this little green ribbon down below. And that was life. And it was the life on either side of the Nile River, the Nile brought life to the desert. And actually 94% of Egypt is desert. Only 6% is green and has vegetation. And of course, it’s all that little bit of land that’s around the Nile River that flows through the desert country. Well, the whole Middle East is like that.
desert and it wasn’t until just recently that the world had a desire now for oil and guess where all that oil is. It’s underneath that desert sand so now the world is focused on the Middle East like we’ve never been before because of our dependence upon oil and it’s all part of God’s plan. God said in the last days he would put hooks and a jaws of the nations to draw them into the Middle East and the hook is oil.
there and uh… i think we’re getting real close to the Lord’s return thanks for calling in and we appreciate your call we have tony and brooklyn new york and brooklyn new york welcome to tampa and bible on tony around here okay here i hear you well you know oh thank you uh… god bless back but thank you for taking my call uh… my name is tony like i said and i i don’t like what you see you is uh…
I’ve been saved for about a year with the grace of our Lord. And what my question is, biblically, I’m in a situation with my wife, my wife is not saved. And I ended a lot of stuff in my life, you know, as many sinners, I guess, adultery and stuff like that. And I confess everything to my wife when I got saved because that was my obligation when she asked me. My first obligation was to the Lord, and I understand that.
But what my question is biblically, I know that’s what we should be going by, my wife’s given me a very, very hard time and she’s always threatening to get out of the house, leave and listen to that because she doesn’t believe in my faith at all. She’s basically Catholic. And what my question is biblically, I’ve talked to my pastor and everything and I know it says live in peace if she leaves you with other spouse or anybody. she stays with you, you must remain in the situation you were when you were saved.
Technically, how does that work? If she kicks me out, is that still being in peace or do you understand my question, Pastor? Yeah, well then it says in Corinthians 7 to go ahead and remain separate but not remarry. You just need to pray for her and see if you can’t somehow bring her to Christ. And it has to be just a little bit at a time to get her to question what she has been taught as verses to Bible.
And if you get her to see Bible verses, the Word of God is living in powerful. And I’m sure that if you could get her to see the Scriptures, that maybe she would trust the Lord. I have a CD. If you could get her to listen to it, I think we’ve seen so many people get saved. who have listened to this CD would be a tool. I’ll be happy to send it to you free. Tony, maybe you could try to either have her listen to it with you or apart from you in either case.
If you would listen to it, I think maybe this might be the thing that would break the barrier. So let me go. I’ll give you back to my operators and let them pick up your address from you, Tony, and we’ll try to get that done. Okay, thank you, Pat. Thank you, Tony, and we’ll be praying for your wife. And if she gets saved, everything is solved because then that’s the big obstacle that apparently you’re bringing up here in your relationship.
All right, we’re going to go to Bev in St. Petersburg. And Bev, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the earth. Hi, right now? Yeah, you’re on the earth right in this 30 minute. Okay, I was listening to the radio. Turn that down because that will confuse you. We’re 20 seconds to late on the radio. Okay, well good morning to you and thanks for taking my call. I’m a single parent. I’ve been single for about 13 years. I have two children, one of which I adopted.
And my question is regarding sexual immorality, fornification, and adult survival. I have met a gentleman who is a very good man and we both go to church together. I read and study the Bible. I’m also Catholic and understand what the Bible says and that you should be married. Yes. Here is sometimes in today’s and this could be my deception but sometimes people cannot afford to get married such as taxes, homestead, children. If two people are not harming anyone else, if there’s no adultery, if they’re not attuning themselves to other people and they have dedicated themselves to each other, you truly need to be married.
I mean, I just have a hard time with that. Well, the answer is yes. You need to get married. The Bible says that in 1 Corinthians 7 it says to avoid fordication which is sex outside the relationship of marriage. It says get married. So it’s very plain in 1 Corinthians 7 that you need to get married, yes. Well back in the scripture when this was all written, sometimes men had several wives. How did they play out? Well they were violating the scripture.
God only intended for a man to have one wife and whenever they violated that they had all kinds of problems that came down upon them as a result of it. But God never intended for more than one wife and that was the way it was to be and in some other cultures, in Islam I think you can have four wives. So if you can’t afford to get married, say if you can’t afford to lose your homestead, you can’t afford, you know, type of that, what do you have to do, go without a relationship?
You might have to. According to the Bible, you are to get married. First grade and the seventh. You just have to. When God wrote all this, he didn’t have homestead. He didn’t have that. He didn’t have all that thing. It wasn’t the way that the world is today. Well, they had other problems, I’m sure. Maybe not exactly the same as we have today, but until they had their problems as well. But that basically is what God wants you to do.
Genesis 2 when the first marriage occurred, it said the man and the woman who were both to leave their father and their mother and to cling to each other and become one flesh. And to be in that relationship with marriage, obviously God is the one that instituted marriage and he said that first marriage. But after that throughout the Old Testament, they all had contracts. It was a legal thing where they were bound to each other. If you don’t get married, then obviously either one of you could walk away and say, well, this is not working out and there’s no real commitment.
No commitment there. So you need to be careful about that. Okay. I thought you were going to say this. I have one more question for you, please. Go ahead. Hey, loads. The halo’s that are around Jesus’ head. Not in the Bible. That’s all done by artists and there’s nothing like that in the Bible at all. So you don’t think there’s any meaning to that? No. No, he lives in the Bible. Well, Beth, thank you for calling keep listening to Bible and I thank you.
All right, that was Saint Petersburg we have Martin in Deltona Beach, Florida and Our deltona Florida and Martin welcome to Bibleline I’ll rescue all about three years ago In charge of the radio. Okay, and I have a question real fast. Okay I began to, I was, but I came to Christ in the charismatic church and about nine years ago, I think I called before and I’ve been serving the Lord for nine years and I began to visit at Baptist Church, which I like, I love the way they teach.
But now I began to visit this other church because I feel that God called me to teach And I am. I apologize to call it that. I’m very scared because now I know the truth, these movements of tongues and I always, I’m having problems with my friends because I’ve been telling them why she’s always speaking the same tongue. I know it’s a gibberish but they don’t get to understand that and I am because they grow in problems with the leaders because they speak in tongues and I always hear them speaking the same tongues.
Well, you know that’s really not of God. And you’re going to have to get out of there. You really can’t join them. The Bible says you’re forbidden to do that. Keep looking up. Jesus is coming.
