Hi, this is Tom Perry for Bibleline Ministries. Thank you so much for joining us today. All of us here at Bibleline have been working hard and are very excited to bring you today’s program. You’ve picked a great day to tune in since today, you will be listening to the debut of the new format for Bibleline. And we can’t wait to bring it to you. We pray that it’ll be pleasing to you and glorifying to God. As we strive to continue Dr.

Hank Lindstrom’s work of spreading the gospel across the world, Bibleline has been reformatted so that each program will now feature a combination of teachings from Dr. Lindstrom as well as answers to questions about the Bible. This is a format that Dr. Lindstrom had previously talked about using in other ministry areas, so we feel comfortable that he would have approved of these changes. Much of Dr. Lindstrom’s teaching materials that we will be using have not been broadcast before. We hope that you will look forward to future Bible-like programs and the detailed teachings from the Word of God that will be featured.

Today, we’ll begin a teaching series on various topics related to the events leading up to and surrounding the resurrection of Jesus. This series will last for two weeks and includes teachings on the wages of sin, everlasting life, the triumphant entry, Palm Sunday, the Passover, the crucifixion and burial of Jesus, And of course, the resurrection of Jesus. In today’s class, we will learn what provoked God to anger. So if you can, please open your Bible now to the book of Romans chapter 6 verse 23.

And join us for Dr. Lynchham’s teaching for today. If you have your Bible open it, if you will, to Romans 623. If you have a Bible loaned out page 1199, it says here for the wages of sin is death. The wages of sin is death. That’s the bad news. The good news is, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ, our Lord. As a little boy, I remember only hearing the first half of that verse. My parents, when we go on vacation, we go up through the Carolinas and you would see the signs see ruby falls visit rock city the wages of sin is death and it would come to me but never really knew what it meant and nobody ever told me the second half of the birth switches is a good news but the only way sin can be paid for

is by death and that means really separation it doesn’t mean annihilation or the end of your existence uh… it means separation so physical death is the separation of your soul from uh… your body or soul and spirit from your body roman six twenty three page eleven ninety nine so physical death is a part of that payment and the uh… second death is the separation of your soul and spirit from god in hell forever and everyone will experience that that doesn’t know Christ is their Savior.

Once you become a believer, the Bible says you’ll never be hurt of the second death. So you may die physically, but you’ll never experience the second death, the second separation of your soul in hell forever and ever and ever. When Adam and Eve sinned, the payment was the same. God told Adam and Eve if they were to eat or the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, that they would surely die. And the moment they partook of that fruit, they died spiritually.

They were cut off from or separated from God. And the Bible tells us that God no longer walked in the garden with them. When you think about God walking in the garden, it had to be a pre-adient carnate appearance of Christ, because God is a spirit. But God walking in a body has to be Christ, and Christ was there, I believe, in the garden. And when Adam and Eve sinned, they died spiritually first, they were separated from God, and then later they died physically.

Both were the penalty for sin. Jesus on the cross of Calvary paid for both. As on the cross, he said, my God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? God turned his back on the man Jesus, and he was forsaken and separated from God. And that is spiritual death, which Christ on the cross endured for you and me. And then at the end of those six hours on the cross, Jesus dismissed his spirit and he gave up his spirit and he laid down his life physically.

And so in the same order that Adam and Eve experienced spiritual death and then physical death, Christ in paying for our sins, experienced both in the same order, spiritual death and then physical death that followed. And so he paid the full penalty for years sin and nine. And the Bible tells us here the wages of sin is death. It doesn’t say the wages of sin is water baptism. Water baptism will not pay for your sin, nor will church membership, or any of the other things that we might list.

We find the wages of sin is clearly death or separation from God. But here’s the good news. The second half of the verse says, but the gift of God is what? Eternal life. The gift of God is what? The gift of God is what? Eternal life is what? The gift of God. Very good. All right. I want to mix you up here. But the gift of God is eternal life. Not temporary life, but it’s eternal life. And that’s God’s gift.

And God us purchase that through the death of Jesus Christ. His death in shed blood purchased our salvation and then of course he was buried in rose again from the dead and Jesus Christ purchased our salvation by himself experiencing death on our behalf. That is the good news. So anyone who would want to pay for any part of their own sin is really asking for trouble Because if you paid for any sin, you’d have to pay for it by death.

You can’t pay for it by any of the other things that people are commonly referring to as a way of the can pay for their sin. Now penance, and we have it defined in our bulletin every week, we have some definitions there on that sheet that has steps of letting us all to Christ, but penance is payment for sin. And many people are taught that they have to do penance. And sometimes penance has been expressed as giving up things that you enjoy, maybe giving up chocolates for Lent, or giving up television, or giving up something else.

And according to the definition, penance is a payment for sin. I hope you can see how doctrinally unsound that is. Because if If you did penance, you’d have to go to hell. In other words, if you made a payment for your sin, if you paid the sin debt, you’d have to go to hell. The only way sin can be paid for is by hell. The wages of sin is death throughout the Bible we see that. And yet a lot of folks are counting on doing something of themselves that will be a payment for sin and they call it penance and it will not take away their sin.

will not pay for their sin, their sins cannot be paid for by anything that they do. The wages of sin is death. But because Christ paid that payment of death on the cross for us, we can receive His wonderful gift of everlasting life. Now, if you go to Romans chapter 4, notice what it says in verse 4 about those that are attempting to work their way to heaven. I would say that most of those who claim that they are Christian are not, and most of those that are claiming to be Christian are working their way to get to heaven where they’ll not go, because their works will not pay for their sin.

The only pay for sin is death. That’s pretty clear. In Romans 4, it says, out of him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace or mercy, but of what? Debt. As long as you are working to pay for sin, no sins are being paid for. And all you’re doing is incurring a greater debt because you’re still continuing to sin in this lifetime. And so as you continue to sin and you say, well, I’m going to do penance, or I’m going to be faithful in church attendance, or I’m going to pray, or I’m going to read my Bible.

No sins are being paid for. And so what is happening is you’re incurring a bigger debt. And the problem is that you will wind up in hell if that is what you are trusting in. But look at verse five, Romans 4, 5, it says, but to him that worketh what? It doesn’t work. You realize you cannot pay for your sin. Because if you paid for it, it would be death. It says, but to him that worketh not, but believeth or trust upon Christ who justifies the ungodly, that’s us.

His faith in Christ is counted for what? Righteousness. So the believer in Christ, because of the substitutionary death of Christ, is made righteous upon trusting Christ as Savior. Isn’t that great news? And so my heart goes out to the many who are trusting in works to get them to heaven. We find that people were celebrating the beginning of Lent, Ash Wednesday. And Ash Wednesday is not in the Bible, nor is Lent in your Bible. Now I could take my Bible and I could shake it upside down, and Lent might fall out, L-I-N-T, but no L-E-N-T.

There is no Lent in the Bible. Maybe Lent, but no Lent. And yet how many people practicing that. Both papers, at least in Tampa here, the Saint Pete Times and the Tampa Tribune on one of the intersections on the front page had a huge picture of someone getting ashes or having just gotten ashes pushed on their forehead to mark the beginning of Lent. And the articles read that this was the beginning of a time of penance, which means payment for sin, that over 40 days they would give up things and they would pray and maybe fast and in this way they would be doing penance and earning points toward heaven.

I have a Roman Catholic encyclopedia right down the hall and it says that Lent is a time of penance, time of paying for sin and many people really believe that what they do during that time, giving up chocolates. will give you points toward getting to heaven. Isn’t that amazing? And you have to feel sorry. But there is no Lent in your Bible. It’s totally pagan, has nothing to do with Christ. And look at how many churches are celebrating Lent.

The Roman Catholic Church and most of the churches that have come out of the Reformation came dragging the baggage of a lot of bad doctrine into the Protestant churches and they’re observing Lent. And it’s so wrong. And yet nobody ever says anything to correct it or to stop it. I think I’m probably one of the few people that say Lent is wrong. There ain’t no Lent. But Lent goes all the way back to Genesis 10. In Genesis 10 you have a wicked man named Nimrod.

His wife was named Simoramis. She supposedly had a virgin born son named Tamuz. And Tamuz was the counterfeit of Christ. And this was a worship system that carries down to this very day. And the church of the tribulation period, the church, there will be the world church, Bible describes that will emerge after the rapture has on the forehead of this church the woman is called Babylon mystery the mother of all harlots. Well that takes us back to ancient Babylon that takes us back to Nimrod that takes us back to the tower of Babel that takes us back to this religious system that spreads throughout the whole world.

As this weren’t really a system spread, the names changed, but the system remained the same. It was always the worship of a mother and her son. In Italy, the mother was Venus, the son was Cupid. In Greece, the mother was Aphrodite, and the son was Eros. In Egypt, the mother was Isis, and the son was Horus. In Israel, It was, Astroth was the mother. And the baby was Baal, Astrothern Baal. Now it’s amazing how that that has gotten weighed into Christianity.

In the fourth century, Constantine declared the world to be Christian. And all of a sudden, the mother and son cult didn’t go away. It got new names. And the mother became Mary. And the baby became Jesus. Whoa. And so you really have to ask when somebody presents a Jesus, is it the Jesus of the Bible or is it the counterfeit? When they talk about Mary, are they talking about the Mary of the Bible or are they talking about the counterfeit?

Simoramas, that name is still around. I stayed in Damascus, Syria and right across the street the hotel was called a Simoramas Hotel. of Tamuz. I was in Egypt and I stayed in the Simmeramis Hotel on the island right in the middle of the Nile River, named after this woman, the mother of Tamuz. But as it approached Israel, it was asked for off and bail. God didn’t like when Israel got caught up in it. I want you to turn to the book of Judges.

Joshua, after Moses died, led the children of Israel, into the Promised Land. Verse 8 tells us in chapter 2 of Judges page 289, Joshua, the son of none, the servant of the Lord, died. He lived 110 years. They buried him in the border of his inheritance in Timnath, Harris, in the Mount of Ephraim on the north side of the hill, Gai’ash. Thanks for joining us today. We hope that you are enjoying today’s teaching on the resurrection. You are listening to Bibleline with your host, Dr.

Now please join us for a question and answer segment featuring Dr. Lindstrom and callers from previous Bibleline radio shows. And we’re going to go to Alice in Eden, Florida. So Alice, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the earth. Yes, Hank. I love the program. Thank you.

And I just had a couple things on my mind here about Lent, and because a lot of people yesterday, I’ve seen going around with the ashes still on their forehead at the end of the day. And I’m not in agreement with that, of course. And I was wondering if you could tell me your opinion on it, according to scripture. Well, Alice, there is no Lent in anybody’s Bible. The Lent is pagan in origin and it begins with Ash Wednesday.

Actually in the Old Testament it was the celebration of Baal’s return from the dead. He was apparently according to legend gored by a wild boar in a hunting accident and the people prayed and fasted and wept for 40 days for his survival. He either survives or is raised from the dead and then they celebrate with his mother the return of Baal from the dead. And of course her name is Easter and so at the end of the 40 days we have a celebration of Easter which has nothing to do with Christ either.

I celebrate the resurrection of Christ again from the dead but the whole thing of Lent And then the celebration of Easter is pagan and predates Christianity by thousands of years. And it’s forbidden in the Old Testament. Actually, God was very angry when Israel went through this 40 days of weeping and fasting for Tamuz or Baal and then celebrated. In a way they would celebrate with Eastern, her name was Astrath or in the English Eastern was that they would watch.

The son to come up as bail was the son God not the SON but the US and they would stand and watch the sun come up over the horizon and celebrate his coming back from the dead and Easter would rejoice the mother bail and it’s interesting how the best gotten incorporated the modern day sunrise service is got its origin in the so-called resurrection of bail and then celebrating with his brother. mother the return of her child to her. And that’s of course not what we’re celebrating with.

So I’m not. I’m celebrating the fact that Jesus came and died and was buried and rose again from the dead. And I believe he rose on Saturday night. He was placed in the grave at sundown. He said in Matthew 1240, he’d be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. So Christ had to rise Saturday at sundown. If we leave him in the grave till Sunday morning, then he’s in the grave three days and four nights, an extra night period.

And in the morning, nobody ever saw Christ rise from the dead. They discovered the empty tomb, and then later he appeared to them. But I believe that this Sunday morning sunrise thing is actually the pagan celebration of Easter, getting her son bale back after the 40 days of Lent. And so Lent is just purely pagan, has nothing to do with Christ. And amazingly, how the system is still around. That’s what amazes me, that surely these churches know this and how they can continue to do it.

It was a lot of people I know that are of course Catholic. And then to walk around all day with the ashes still on your head, it’s like it just reminds me of the Pharisees. for people to bring attention to them and i i think the whole thing is just terrible and what is interesting is that because they know they’re going to have to fast and pray for forty days the day before ashwens the marks the beginning of lint they uh…

uh… it’s called fat Tuesday so they go out in indulge themselves in eating and drinking and licentious and of course in french uh… fat tuesday is marty gov So, Mardi Gras really is the last day before 40 days of behaving yourself. You just go out and do everything you won’t be able to do for the next 40 days. And that’s what Pat Tuthi’s all about. And that’s totally the opposite of true fasting because you’re to prepare yourself for it by cutting back and then not even telling anybody that you’re fasting.

It’s supposed to be done in secret. Well, that’s what Jesus said in the Sermon on the Mount, for sure. But it’s interesting that we have a lot of paganism that’s gotten wet into Christianity and nobody seems to want to speak up about it or abandon it. But really I think we, like I tell people in my church, let’s not use the E word because I don’t like to mention Easter if I don’t have to. But let’s talk about the R word which is the resurrection of Christ which puts us back on track where we ought to be.

Thank you so much. I just love this program. Now, bless your hands. Thank you, Alice. God bless you. And that was Alice and done even shortly. Bibleline will be back in a moment. To pledge your support for Bibleline, give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. 1-800-576-3771. If you have your Bible there, get it out. We’ll be talking about the Bible and I hope you have a Bible handy. We’re going to go to Revelation 12. Revelation 12. And here we read about what will happen to Israel during the tribulation period. It says here, and there appeared a great wonder or sign in heaven, a woman clothed with the sun and the moon under her feet and upon her head a crown of twelve stars.

Well, guess what? We would know what that was talking about unless we read the book of Genesis. That’s right. You know, when you read the book of Revelation, some people are like, I don’t understand it. Well, guess what? It’s like reading the last chapter in a math book. And if you haven’t read the previous chapters, nothing there is probably going to make a whole lot of sense. But if you go back to the book of Genesis, you might be reminded of a story where Joseph dreamed a dream about the Sun, the Moon, and twelve stars.

And in his dream the son of the moon and eleven stars bowed down to the twelve star, and guess what? It was talking about himself and how that his father and his mother and his eleven brothers would bow down before him. And of course that was fulfilled when he was sold into Egypt and became second only to Pharaoh. And we find that when famine came Joseph becoming second to Pharaoh and having stored up during the seven fat years was able to ration food out during the seven lean years and here comes his father and his mother, his 11 brothers and they bow down before him as he acted on behalf of the Pharaoh and he provided food for them.

Well, this is talking therefore about Israel. And notice it says here, she being with child cried, travailing in birth and pain to be delivered. That talks about Israel would bring about the Messiah. Wow, the nation of Israel would bring about a child that would be God in flesh, the Lord Jesus Christ, who would die to pay for the sins of the world. And you’ll notice here it includes Satan and it says, and there appeared another wonder in heaven. Behold a great red dragon having seven heads and ten horns and seven crowns upon his heads.

And guess what, right in the same chapter we have the answer. It says the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent called a devil, and Satan was deceived the whole world. So here we have Satan being the one that is the dragon. And it says here, and his tale drew the third part of the stars of heaven. That’s clearly talking here about a third of the angels became Satan’s and they tried to overthrow heaven and God and God did cast him down to the earth.

And the dragon or Satan stood before the woman, which was ready to be delivered for to devour her child as soon as it was born. Most people don’t realize that Satan was behind the killing of all the children in Bethlehem when Christ was born. He was sitting there waiting, couched, ready to take an opportunity to kill Jesus Christ, the Messiah, the Savior of the world. And obviously here Satan was couched, it says here, stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, that’s Israel.

And we find here he was ready to devour that child as soon as it was born. And that’s what Satan tried to do. He tried to get rid of Jesus Christ before he could ever go to Calvary and pay for our sins. Israel, according to the next verse, Revelation 12, 5 says, she brought forth a man child who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron. If you read the second Psalm it talks about Jesus and how he would come, he would be called the Son of God and that he would actually rule over the nations of the earth with a rod of iron.

In other words he will have total control over the earth and the earth will be at peace during his reign, a thousand year earthly reign of peace on earth, good will toward men that will happen. And I believe in the near future. If the rapture were to happen this year, seven years from this year, then Christ would come back in all of His glory at the second coming to establish His Kingdom, and this earth would be at peace under His rule.

This is the manchild. But notice it says here this manchild, her child was caught up and got into his throne that speaks about his rejection and his ascension back to heaven where Christ is now seated in heavenly places on the right hand of the Majesty on high. And so Jesus went back to heaven. Then we have, I believe, here a gap in time between verses 5 and 6, and now we leap to what’s going to happen during the tribulation period and the woman that’s Israel fled into the wilderness.

I believe this wilderness place is the Rock City of Petra in Southern Jordan. Would you like to help Bibleline continue in your area? You can. Just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3771. So you really have to ask, when somebody presents a Jesus, is it the Jesus of the Bible or is it the counterfeit? When they talk about Mary, are they talking about the Mary of the Bible or are they talking came out the counterfeit. Simoramis, that name is still around.

God didn’t like when Israel got caught up in it. I want you to turn to the book of Judges and see what God says here. In Judges chapter 2, Joshua, after Moses died, led the children of Israel into the promised land. Verse 8 tells us in chapter 2 of Judges page 289, Joshua, the son of none, the servant of the Lord died. He lived 110 years. They buried him in the border of his inheritance in Kimnath, Harris, in the Mount of Ephraim on the north side of the hill, Gay Ash.

Verse 10, also, all that generation were gathered under their fathers, and there arose another generation after them which what? New not the Lord. Wow, a whole generation coming up that didn’t know the Lord. It says here who knew not the Lord nor yet the works which he had done for Israel, how he delivered them out of the land of Egypt and part of the Red Sea and so on. And it says here in verse 11, and the children of Israel that evil in the sight of the Lord and served Balaam.

Now Balaam is plural. The I am ending is plural just like an on Elohim, the name for God. The I am ending tells you it’s plural. This means not only Baal, but the other gods that were worshiped in the Promised Land. Look at you, if you will, verse 12, and they forsook the Lord their God, or the Lord God of their fathers, which brought them up out of the land of Egypt and followed what other gods, not only Baal, But other gods, the gods of the people who were round about them, and they bowed themselves unto them and provoked the Lord to anger.

And they forsook the Lord and served Baal, there it is, and his mother, Astharoth. Now if you take your finger and just cover the last three letters, the OTH, notice it’s Ash-tar. The English form is E-star, or Easter. is the name of the mother of bail. When people tell me that they’re going to celebrate Easter, I say, why would you want to do that? That’s the mother of bail. Most people don’t know that. They don’t know it. And so I recommend that we all have a campaign to get rid of the E word and use the R word.

I try as much as possible not to use that E word, but sometimes I have to explaining things because people identify with it. But at this season as we come up on the Resurrection of Christ, we call that Sunday here at Calvary Resurrection Sunday. People said, well, what about the candy you might give to the children? We call it Resurrection Candy. The women might wear special dresses. or a special hat that day. What do you call those? Well, we call them resurrection dresses or resurrection bonnets or hats.

Easy transition. Not a big problem. But the word resurrection has a lot more power. I’ll never forget a lady at a checkout that said to me, Happy Easter one year. And I thought that was kind of her, but I simply just replied and said to her, Happy Resurrection. It was almost like I pushed her. I mean, you can see the impact of the word resurrection. The word Easter has no impact. You can say that all day long and people won’t hardly respond.

But if you go up to somebody and say, happy resurrection, you’re going to see their body action that you’ve almost like pushed them a little bit or you’ve gotten their attention. And I hope that you’ll try to use that word as we approach resurrection sending because, truly, that’s what I celebrate. was really a goddess of fertility, a sex goddess. That’s why you have the bunny rabbits and the eggs that speak of sex and fertility. And throughout the Middle East, you still see the trail that she has left.

But that’s who she is. And when people say, I’m going to celebrate Easter, I think of, oh man, why would they want to do that? That is who Easter There is. She’s a goddess of fertility and it’s all about sex. Has nothing to do with Jesus Christ at all. I think we need to clean it up and get rid of it and just worship Jesus. That’s what it’s all about. Well in any case Lent was the 40 days that when supposedly Tamuz or later known as Baal was in a hunting accident with a wild boar, his life hung in a balance for 40 days.

prayed to the heathen gods and fasted and wept for his recovery or his resurrection. At the end of the forty days, he came back from the dead or survived the fatal wounds that he had incurred. And his mother then was celebrated, or she celebrated the resurrection of her son, or getting her son back. And people celebrated with her who had been praying for that to take place. That’s Lent. days they fasted and wept and prayed for Baal. So if you observe Lent you’re really observing a time of fasting and prayer and weeping for Baal.

Or the original name was Tamuz. If you go to Ezekiel chapter 8 I’ll give you a quick preview, but God allowed the temple in Jerusalem to be destroyed by Nebuchadnezzar, the beautiful temple that Solomon had built, the temple where God showed his presence and filled that temple with his glory. This is page 847 Ezekiel chapter 8. Ezekiel was a young captive carried away into Iraq in the Babylonian captivity, along with Daniel and Chad Rach, and Shachen of Indigo. All these Jewish people were carried way captive to Iraq and Ezekiel was one of them.

And he was living up in northern Iraq. And in verse 1, he’s in his home. He’s living in a house in Iraq. He’s one of the Jewish captives in the captivity that occurred around BC 606. It came to pass in the sixth year, chapter 8, verse 1, in the sixth month and the fifth day of the month. As I sat in my house. So here’s Ezekiel in his living room. He’s got guests over. The elders of Judah sat before me.

So here he is God’s prophet and the elders of Judah are sitting there in his living room. And the hand of the Lord fell there upon me and then I beheld and low alikeness of the appearance of fire from the appearance of the ones even downward from the ones even upward as the appearance of brightness as the color of amber. This This inscription is just the same as we’d see of Christ in other passages. And he put forth the form of a hand and took me by a lock of my head.

And the Spirit lifted me up between earth and heaven. And what happens here is Ezekiel gets a free ride. He’s in Iraq. But God says Ezekiel, I want you to be able to tell the people what happened here. Why did I allow Jerusalem to be destroyed? Why did I allow the temple to be destroyed? That Solomon built. Why did I depart from that temple and leave that temple empty without my glory? Why did I do all of that? Well, he is now taken from Iraq by the hair over to Jerusalem, and he’s also taken back in time.

If you don’t believe in time travel, you have to because the Bible teaches it. He goes back now prior to the destruction of Jerusalem. Prior to Ezekiel being carried away as a captive to Iraq, and says, I want you to see what these people were doing, why I got so angry? Well, we could spend a lot of time on this chapter. I want to jump all the way to verse 14. It says, He brought me to the door of the gate of the Lord’s house, which was toward the north, and behold, there sat women weeping for Tamuz.

That’s the son of Simoramis. He’s the same as Baal as Simoramis’ name was changed to Azeroth, and that is Lent. And guess where they’re doing it? Right on the temple mount. where God would have His presence in that temple. And God got angry. And verse 15, He said into Ezekiel, have you seen this? Have you seen this, oh son of man? Have you seen this? He says, turn yet again and I’m going to show you worse things in that.

Well guess what? He says He brought me into the inner court of the Lord’s house and behold at the door of the temple of the Lord between the porch and the altar. There were five and twenty men with their backs toward the temple of the Lord. That’s where God’s presence was. And Their faces toward the east and they did what? They worshiped the sun toward the east. That’s your sunrise service. Easter was celebrating after the weeping for Tamuz, the fact that after 40 days of Lent, he came back from the dead and Tamuz and Baal were known as the sun god, the SU and of God, not the SON of God.

And so what they would do is they would look toward the east and when the sun would rise, would celebrate the fact that bail had come back from the dead. Whoa, that’s why we don’t have a sunrise service. We believe its origins are pagan and they would celebrate, I remember as a little boy, my mom getting me up along with the rest of us and telling us to get ready and we didn’t want to get ready, it’s still dark outside.

Why are we getting up so early? We don’t want to go anywhere. We want to stay at bed. We’d get the churches still dark and then we’d all go outside and we’d all face east and we’d watch what? the sunrise. Oh my goodness sakes. That’s what we’re talking about here. They turned their back on the true and living God, whose presence was right on the temple mount in the temple, and they turned their back on Him and they faced the east and watched the sunrise, and that’s the worship of Baal.

Still being done today. Most people don’t know they’re doing it. But you know, it’s sad that many are taught that during those 40 days they can actually earn their way to heaven by praying for Baal. I mean they say today it’s toward Christ but it’s the same pagan origin and God was upset. God says that’s why Ezekiel told the people when I take you back and God gave him a free ride back to Iraq and forward in time on the way back to where he caught up with his guests in the living room and was able to tell him why Why God destroyed it?

Do you think that God has mellowed out since then? That God has said, well, I got over that, and I’m not so upset anymore when people observe Lent. I don’t think so. I don’t think God has mellowed at all. I don’t think He’s changed His mind at all. I think that if we’re alert to what the Bible says, we should not allow that to be violated. And that’s what’s happening today. And unfortunately, those that are taught Lent are taught works for salvation because they’re taught the due penance and penances works as a payment for sin and it won’t pay for sin as we just discovered in the Bible the only pay for sin is death and so if they’re going to pay for sin they’re going to have to pay for it when their life is over in hell because what they did in this life penance or whatever you want to call it will not pay for even one

sin. So they’re wasting their time doing penance when works won’t pay for sin and when they die they’re going to be awakened to a future that they didn’t expect and be cast to the hell where they will pay for sin by death or separation from God in hell. Whoa, scary in them. When Christ said you shall know the truth and the truthysis will set you free, don’t you feel the burden lifted? Those people who are in these churches have this heavy weight on them.

I’ve got to give these things up, keeping track, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, working at it, working at it, and fearful about will I do enough or will this have any impact and will I make heaven at the end of all of this? And it’s terrible. But once you know the truth, I have people tell me all the time, I feel so free now. I feel set free. And we truly are when we trust Christ because Jesus paid our sin debt and full.

When we trust in His death on our behalf, we are given the gift of everlasting life. I simply try to say happy resurrection when they use the word Easter. And you know, it catches on. It’s powerful. And of course when we have a chance to teach like this, we can explain. And then hopefully they can learn that that’s a pagan observance. It doesn’t belong in Christianity. But when Constantine came along, all of that worship of Baal, and those observances came right on into Christianity.

And that’s where it’s been. It’s been there ever since. And it really goes all the way back to Genesis chapter 10. And the Bible says in Revelation chapter 17 that the in-time church will be practicing those things. And that’s how you can identify this church called the woman in Revelation 17 as she will have all the marks of ancient Babylon. And what they practice back there in the worship of a mother and her son. And the fast things at Lent.

and the resurrection celebrated by Easter, the mother of Baal, that’s still going on to this very hour. Amazing, isn’t it? We don’t have time to go any further, but hopefully that’ll wet your appetite. There’s a book called Two Babylons We Have It Here. It really will trace it all the way from Genesis to right now. And that is something that perhaps if you want to go further with it, you’d want to read. Scofield’s Notes are excellent. If you have the Scofield Bible, I’d recommend that.

We have Joe out in Brandon. Hi Dr. Lindstrom. I just wanted you to get me to guide and counting the days you were in the grave again. like you know about the timeline you think you may have risen and death. You know I have a sheet where I’ve spent a lot of time developing that for you and if you could ever drop by you could get one or if you will call back after the program and give your address to operators and ask them for that I’ll mail it to you.

But I have a whole sheet that explains and a chart that goes day by day and even in some days hour by hour almost what happened during the crucifixion week. I believe he was crucified on Wednesday. Put on the cross at 9 a.m. That God shut out the lights at noon on that Wednesday. And it was darkness over the Earth till 3 o’clock in the afternoon and then Christ died at 3. They had three hours then to get the body in the grave and he was placed in the grave at 6 p.m.

Wednesday, which was really the beginning of the Passover. Thursday was the Passover and Thursday night began Wednesday night at 6 p.m. If that doesn’t make you up real big time. And then for three days, 72 hours, Christ was in the grave. And when the three days were concluded at sundown, as the Jews count their day from sundown to sundown, the first day of the week began. And right then, Saturday night sundown, Christ rose. When they came and found the tomb in the morning, they found the tomb empty.

So what we have there was a discovery of the resurrection. Christ was already risen, I believe, by 12 hours when the sun came up in the morning and they discovered the empty tomb. and nobody saw Christ rise from the dead on Sunday morning. He was already risen, but then he began to make numerous appearances and there are 17 recorded appearances of Christ after he came back from the dead. And then of course after 40 days of showing himself alive, he ascends back up into heaven.

10 days later, the Holy Spirit comes and this age begins. That’s a little summary, but you can get my chart if you will call back and give you address to our operators after the program. Yeah, so the actually the good Friday concept of him is also wrong. Yeah, the good Friday is wrong. Christ, I call it a plain Friday and I call Wednesday of that week, good Wednesday. And what happened there? And I’ll show you the error came from John chapter 19.

Where it says that Christ was crucified on the preparation day. And that was the preparation of the Passover. And that was really on Wednesday as the pastor was Thursday. And in John 19 verse 31 it says the Jews therefore because it was the preparation that the body should not remain upon the cross on the Sabbath day. And here’s where the trick occurs here on some people. Normally the Sabbath is Saturday. But it says that Sabbath day was a high day.

It was one of the high holy days of Israel which were also considered Sabbath. So it was actually Thursday with the Sabbath as well as the Saturday Sabbath. Oh, okay. Alright, well thank you very much, Dr. O’Brien. You’re welcome, Joe, and God bless. We’re now going to go to Armando in St. Petersburg. Armando, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Good morning, Dr. Langstrom. Good morning. I wanted to ask you, do you know anything about the adopting of the Scientologists?

I would like to know something about them. Well, Scientologists, you don’t have to believe in God, you don’t have to believe in Hell, you don’t have to believe in Heaven, you don’t have to believe in anything. It’s really not a religion technically, because it’s not a thing based on faith. They basically are working with your mind and it’s a psychological type thing. They use brainwashing. They first like to give you a psychological test and that’s the way they hook you.

They have all these crazy teachings of Ron L. Hubbard. They are a cult and they’re a mind control group and you don’t want to get near them. our books are written to help expose that to you, but they’re not Christian and they’re not really even a faith that has a destiny, heaven, hell and believe in God. It’s all about here and control of people and getting your money. So stay away from the Scientologists. Thank you so much Armando. Thanks for listening to Bibleline Today.

And now we leap to what’s going to happen during the tribulation period and the woman that’s Israel fled into the wilderness. I believe this wilderness place is the Rock City of Petra in Southern Jordan, where it says Israel has a place prepared of God that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and three score days. 3.5 years. Right after the Rapture, Israel, of course, will be functioning in the land and have a relative time of peace.

But midway, halfway through, the Antichrist will turn against Israel and Israel will flee into the wilderness, into Petra. And we’re going to get to visit that on this coming trip. What an exciting place to go. And there Israel will be miraculously fed by God, just as he did once before in the wilderness with manna and water right out of the rock. You know, Petra is such an interesting place. You can only enter it by a narrow canyon that’s very, very narrow.

And as you go down through the canyon, many times you can either walk it or you can ride a horse. And I remember many times sitting on my horse and looking straight up. And there you would see the canyon walls rising up two to three hundred feet and just a narrow ribbon of blue above your head where you could see the sky. And as you wander through this canyon about three miles long, all of a sudden it opens up and there you see buildings carved right out of the rock.

The first one you see is called the Treasury. It’s incredible. one of the Indiana Jones films was filmed in Petra. It’s called the Rose Red City of Petra. The beautiful rock formations are a beautiful color and they just as a beautiful place and guess what? God has provided natural air conditioning for the Jews when they flee there in this desert region because inside all these caves where there are homes to provide enough space for all the Jews who will flee there and it’s a natural about 70 degrees year around.

Wow, that wonderful. And you know, all it takes is the Jewish people to move in. And as far as food and water, God will provide that like he once did before in the wilderness. Isn’t that exciting? I believe that we’re getting close. And Petra was undiscovered to the world for nearly 2,000 years. It wasn’t until around 1850 that a British archaeologist named Burkhardt reading about this place, rediscovered it to the world. He joined a traveling caravan of Bedouin Arabs and risking his life, not letting them know what he was really after, traveled with them, and sure enough, they went right through Petra and he rediscovered it to the world.

There’s a Roman amphitheater there. There is all kinds of beautiful buildings carved right out of the rock. and it’s forty square miles of buildings carved out of the rock uninhabited for two thousand years and here it’s ready for the jewish people to go to let me read that verse again verse six it says where is will flee into the wilderness where she has a place prepared of god a place prepared of god a place prepared of god that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred three score days that’s three and a half years that’s It’s exactly the length of time of the last half of the Tribulation period when the Jewish people will be kept safe there from the hands of the Antichrist.

I don’t know about you, but I’m excited. I think we’re living in the last days, and we’re close to when the Lord will come back. I don’t know a date. I’m not a date setter, but I’m a watcher. I’m looking for Christ to return. How about you? Jesus said 23 times in the four Gospels to watch for His coming. If we are not watching as a Christian, we’re not watching. delinquent. I’ve had some people tell me from some churches, oh, we don’t watch.

We’re not looking. We don’t know when he’s going to come back and we’re not looking. Well, obviously, they’re delinquent because Jesus commands us 23 times in the gospels to be looking to be watching.
