We’re so glad that you joined us here today.
As we told you in our previous listener updates, Bibleline has undergone some format changes. All of us here at Bibleline have been working very hard and are excited to bring you the new format for Bibleline. We pray that it’ll be glorifying to God and pleasing to you. striving to continue Dr. Hank Lindstrom’s work of spreading the gospel across the world. Bibleline has now been reformatted so that each program will feature a combination of teachings from Dr. Lindstrom as well as answers to questions about the Bible.
Much of Dr. Lindstrom’s teaching material that we will be using has not been broadcast before. This is a format that Dr. Lindstrom had previously talked about using in other ministry areas, we feel comfortable that he would have approved of these changes. We hope that you will enjoy this new format. As you look forward to hearing future Bibleline programs and detailed teachings from the Word of God, please tell your friends to also tune in and listen to Bibleline. Perhaps you could even start a small group Bible study based on the lessons taught.
In the current teaching series, we will cover a variety of topics related to the events leading up to and surrounding the resurrection of Jesus, including topics such as the wages of sin, everlasting life, the triumphant entry, Palm Sunday, the Passover, the crucifixion and burial of Jesus, and of course, the resurrection of Jesus. If you missed any of the teachings in this series, just give our resource center a call at 1-800-576-3771. Now if you can, please open your Bible to John chapter 6 verse 47 and join us for Dr.
Lynch teaching for today. I hope you will turn with us. Let’s go to John’s Gospel as we begin. And we’re going to take a look at John 647. John 647, what a simple, simple verse. If you haven’t marked it, please, if you’re marking your Bible, mark this one. That’s a good one. John 647, Jesus says, Verily, Verily. That means truthfully, truthfully, basically the barely, verily verses are verses you don’t want to miss. Christ cannot lie. He’s God. Titus 1-2 says God cannot lie.
So he’s really focusing on this is a truth. Verily, verily means truthfully, truthfully that this is a truth you don’t want to miss. And I love the verily, verily verses. They’re often the best that you can use when you’re talking to somebody who’s unsaved. So Jesus says, very, very, I say unto you, he that believeth, that word is besteo in the Greek, P-I-S-T-E-U-O, and it means to trust, to rely upon, to put your confidence in. He that believeth on me, Jesus Christ being God who came and took on human flesh, who went to the cross of Calvary and died and shed his blood for your sins, was buried and rose again from the dead.
He, that believeth on me, hath, that’s Old English, Modern English would read, has, H.A.S. present tense verb meaning right now you possess everlasting life. Wow. It’s a great verse and very simple and easy to be understood. And if you trust Christ according to this verse. This is Jesus himself speaking. He says that you possess presently right now everlasting life. I always let the believer as a child that you had to wait till after you died to be able to find out whether you got eternal life or not.
And I always thought you had to wait till they pulled out the scales and weighed your works in the balances. And And of course that is not the case at all. Eternal life is received at the moment of belief and possessed forever thereafter. And the reason why… It’s received at the moment of belief is because it’s already paid for. Christ paid for your past, present, future sins. It’s all paid for. So because it’s paid for, He can offer it to you at the moment you trust Christ.
If it were not paid for or if partly paid for, then you would have to wait. Now you can tell whether someone has the truth or not by whether they know or don’t know whether a heavy eternal life right now. You know, those that believe in works will always look to the future and say, well, I hope I have eternal life, or I’m working at receiving eternal life, or I’m looking forward to eternal life. Obviously, they leave you with some wiggle room and they really are telling you they don’t really know.
But according to the Bible, the true believer ought to be able to say, I know. I know I’m saved. I know I have eternal life. I know I’m going to heaven. I know I’ve been forgiven because that’s what the Bible teaches. Now all throughout the Bible you see the heroes of the Bible knew and they knew because the Bible tells us we could know before we ever die. Even in the Old Testament, Job says in chapter 19 verse 25, I know, he says, that my redeemer liveth.
He didn’t say I hope or I guess or perhaps, but in Job 19, 25 he said, I know that my redeemer liveth and he goes on to say that Jesus one day, my Redeemer, will stand upon the earth in the latter days. That’s the second coming. Job knew about the second coming, as well as the first coming. Isn’t that amazing? I was so surprised because I was led to believe in my church that, forget the Old Testament, that’s passed and just deal with the New Testament, but the Old Testament is rich in talking to us about Jesus Christ.
Then we find that Job goes on then to say that though the worms would eat or destroy his body after he had died, yet in his flesh he would actually see the Lord Jesus Christ. Isn’t that amazing? So he knew about how he would get a new body and how that he would one day be able to look upon the Lord through the eyes of that new body. That’s exciting. And of course, when we see Christ, we’ll recognize Him because we’ll see the wounds in His hands and His feet.
And He’ll retain those for all eternity as a reminder of what He did for us at the cross of Calvary. And so we know that the Old Testament saints knew it. David said in the 23rd Psalm. And I’m going to quote from that, but I thought I’d share this with you as well. a little Sunday school teacher decided to have her young class memorize Psalm 23. She gave the youngsters a month to learn the verse. A little Rick was excited about the task, but he just couldn’t remember the Psalm.
And after much practice, he could barely get past the first line. On the first day, when the kids were scheduled to recite Psalm 23 in front of the congregation, was so nervous. And when it was his turn, he stepped up to the microphone and said, probably, the Lord is my shepherd, and that’s all I need to know. Well, that is really the truth of it, isn’t it? He really had it down. And in Psalm 23, the Lord, or David says, the Lord is my shepherd.
He trusted in Jesus as his Savior, and as a As a result in verse 6, he said, surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will, I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. I will. You know, that Psalm is so popular. Most funerals, they’ll give you a little handout with the stats about the deceased and the survivors and so on. And when they were born and when they died, but usually somewhere on the back they usually reprint the 23rd Psalm.
And I thought about that for a long time. Why the 23rd Psalm? Why do people like the 23rd Psalm? Why do people use it so often in a context like that when there’s a death and a loved one to parts? And I think the reason why is because people want that assurance that is given in that wonderful Psalm. David said, I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Wouldn’t it be nice to know that if you don’t know that here this morning?
And if you do know it, to say, wow, that is wonderful to know, isn’t it? When you go to sleep at night. That you know where you’re going to spend eternity. I remember as a little boy we were taught that prayer. Now I lay me down to sleep. I pray the Lord my soul to keep and so on. If I should die before I wake, I pray the Lord would take my soul. In any case, that prayer scared me more than anything else.
After I finished praying my little prayer, I’d pull the blankie over my head and just hope for daylight. and say, oh God, I hope I make it till morning. But I had no assurance. And it was kind of scary as a little boy. I remember going to bed at night, and that prayer kind of left me with the frame of mind as I hope I do wake in the morning. But if I don’t wake, I hope the Lord will take my soul.
And I couldn’t know. I didn’t know. Until later, when 18, I trusted Christ as my Savior. But the Bible tells us we can know. And here, actually, it’s implied in this wonderful verse, isn’t it? John 6, 47, page 11, 23. Jesus said, truthfully, truthfully, I say unto you, he that believeth or trusteth on me has modern English everlasting life. And I’ll never forget talking to one lady who is just saying you can’t know you have eternal life. And I said, well, Jesus said it right here.
He, the believer on me, has everlasting life. And I just repeated it back to her and repeated it back to her and repeated it back to her and asked her questions about it. Till finally, she came to say, well, yeah, I guess it does say that. Yeah, you know, duh. And it actually says you can know you have eternal life. And if it’s eternal and you possess it at the moment of belief, then it’s going to be eternal tomorrow next week and next year and a hundred years from now and you can be assured of going to heaven whenever you might die.
The new translations are trying to rob us of these wonderful truths. If you have the new American Standard Version of the Bible, God forbid that you do. No. It’s bad. And in this verse, it leaves off two important words. It simply reads verily, verily I say unto you, he believes has everlasting life. It leaves out on whom you are to believe. Isn’t that amazing? The devil is clever at deleting. You know, there’s a warning in the book of Revelation, we’re not to add to nor take away from the word of God.
And Satan is clever enough to know if he added, people say, oh, that wasn’t in my Bible before, they would pick it out. So he concentrates, I believe, on deletions because you’re not as aware of those and you won’t pick them up unless you’re carefully comparing. And we find that some of the new translations have as many as 5,000 deletions. 5,000. That’s why you have to be careful what Bible you’re reading from and do your homework. But here it is, plain as can be, very, very rarely I say unto thee, or unto you, he the believeth on me has, has as presentence ever lasting life.
I have eternal life. I’m sure of going to heaven. Haven’t worried about that ever since I got saved. I knew it right away. I went back to my church. I thought they would be thrilled. Here I was discovering Christ and how to have eternal life. And I go back and I share it in my church. And it wasn’t long that I was brought before the pastor of the church. And he asked me what was going on. I know that I have eternal life.”
And he said, you can’t know that. I looked at him like, what? I said, I do know it. He said, you can’t know that. I said, well, the Bible tells me I can know it, so I know it. And I knew right from the get-go that according to the Bible, I had eternal life. And I discovered that that caused controversy in the church which I was raised in, which was works-oriented. And we were taught there that you could lose it and you couldn’t know you had it.
And ultimately that you had to earn your way to heaven, which is nonsense. And it’s certainly not what the Bible teaches. Jesus is the Savior. When you trust Him as Savior, God gives you eternal life. Now we’re going to go over to, well, why will we’re still here? Let me just point out verse 37, because I want you, if you have your pen and you’re marking your Bible. If you have somebody else’s Bible, please don’t mark it. They might get mad at you.
But if you have your own, I would love to have you mark it. Verse 37 of John 6, Jesus says, all that the Father giveth me shall come to me and Him that cometh to me. The phrase What is coming to me is twice in this verse. And it’s used throughout the New Testament of the salvation experience. All you need to do to be saved is to come to Christ. He’s made every provision. He’s paid your sin dead and full.
And all you need to do is come and trust Him and God saves you. And so you might want to mark where it says, Him that cometh to me, I will in no wise cast out. And I love that because that means under no circumstances or for no reason would Christ ever cast you out once you become saved. And that is great news. And that also is a major point if you’re going to find out whether somebody’s got the truth or not, ask the question, can you lose your salvation?
And it’s amazing. Most churches teach you can listen. And they don’t even blink an eye when you ask them that question. I had one lady say, you bet. You bet you can. And I said, whoa, it says here, him that come up to me, I will what? In no wise cast out. You can’t be cast out for any reason according to this verse. And then there are those who think and they are trying to scheme a way out of that.
And they’ll say, okay, I concede, Christ won’t cast me out, but I can cast myself out If I don’t want it anymore, I can cast myself out of heaven.” Not true. Look at verse 39, this is the Father’s will. You can’t go any higher in authority than that. That has sent me. That of all of which had given me, I should lose the first two dozen. No, I didn’t say that. I misread that on purpose. It says here, that of all of which had given me, I should lose nothing or none, but raise them up again at the last day.
You can’t be lost because you’re not keeping your salvation. If we were keeping it, perhaps we could lose it. But Christ is given charge of keeping us saved. And how many does He say He will lose? Nothing. None. So not one will be lost. If one person in all of history were ever lost after they got saved, Christ would be a liar. God’s Word would be nothing and you couldn’t trust what God had to say. God is telling us a wonderful truth here.
You cannot be lost once you become saved. Thanks for joining us today. We hope that you are enjoying today’s teaching on the resurrection. Lindstrom and callers from previous Bibleline radio shows. We have Mike in Tampa, Florida. Mike, welcome to Bibleline. You’re on the air. Yeah, it’s the one in the Mr. Lindstrom. I just love the way you write with the Bible Word. I appreciate your program. And if I was in the seminar on Tuesday night, I’d come to a class. But my question is, had I did receive your charge through the mail on when did you just rise from the dead? And my question is, was there’s a, in that they were the preparation of the end of Sabbath?
And you said, from a Thursday, now I know you’ve done your studies. Where can I get some research on, and I know it caused all the no testaments, where would I get the research to know that price and work on a Wednesday? You can figure it out just by the math itself. We know that price rose on the first day of the week. And we know that price was in the grave 72 hours, in the actual 40. So if you can count forward to 3, 1, 2, 3, you can count backwards to 3, and if you start at Sunday and go back to you have to go back to Wednesday.
So, I mean, those take it hard for scientists, but also, as we covered yesterday, I don’t know if you’re just a program in Exodus chapter 12, Christ is the fulfillment of the Passover. And there it tells the Jew that on the 10th day, The first month of the Jewish year, which is the month that came out of Egypt, that they were to select the Lamb. We believe that that coincided with Palm Sunday when Christ was identified as being the Messiah.
He came down the slopes of the Malabolins and the people cried out, Hosanna to the son of David, which is a Messianic title, a title of the Messiah. He enters into the temple and the religious leaders reject him. And so then he is examined as the book of Exodus chapter, Paul tells us the Lamb was to be with us. without bondage, without spot. And so they examined him now. Every group that there shot at him, the parovians, the Pharisees, the Sadducees, the Spribes.
And then when he was betrayed by Judas, then Tiafis, and Anas, and then Tiafis, and then Herod, and then finally, Tyler, in the morning. And Tyler really sums it all up. And since I find no fault in this man, so here we have the sinless Lamb of God. And he’s slain exactly. If you count the days Then the 11th of the Monday, the 12th of the Tuesday, the 13th, would have been Wednesday. The 14th was the Passover. So it was Thursday.
And he was crucified or died in the evening of the Passover. That’s always the preceding afternoon, because the Jews count their days from Sunday on the Sunday, or from night period to night period. And the afternoon always had to be the afternoon of the preceding day because that would precede the night period at 6 p.m. when the day began. That makes any sense. Okay, so I would get all this out of that. Yeah, and of course Leviticus 23 is the whole chapter on all those feast days.
The first four feast days of the seven that God gave in Leviticus 23 were fulfilled that the first coming of Christ. Christ died when the Passover Land was being offered up. He was buried during the Feast of Unleavened Veterans, both of his sinless body. He rose on the feast of first fruits day. First Corinthians 15, 20, and through 22, tells us the price through the first fruits of the resurrection. He fulfilled that. That always occurred on a Sunday, by the way.
And then the feast of Pentecost was the fourth feast. And the Holy Spirit came exactly on that day. So those were literally fulfilled on the day. And the types and pictures that God gave in the Old Testament were prophecies of when Christ would come and die. OK, now this is just the same. I’m not who would agree with me or not. As they were crying out, hold Anna laying on the palm branches. Do you believe that they were not actually seeing Jesus as in the fire, but as well as someone who would set up the kingdom politically in some aspects, probably some of those who were crying out, hold Anna, also probably cried out, crucified him?
You’re right, it may be possibly so, but they did recognize him as the son of David, which is of course the legitimate line that sit upon the front of David, which the sign would have to do. Also, that phrase was, I mean, saved now. So they were really crying out for salvation. Yeah. And they’re really quoting, which the Jewish people every year in the spring spoke from the 118th Psalm, the Hillel Psalm, which has those very words. Well, I’m not mean at all.
I mean, I’m sure there was some in the crowd that just caught up in the excitement of it all. They just went along with it. And so we’ll have to wait until we get to heaven to find out how many of those in that tribe were genuine believers. But many of them were, I’m sure, and they recognize that this one had to be in the sign. Well, thank you. And I’ll tell you what, I listen to a lot of programs that I get as much in my spirit as I can.
And you just write it about the word, and I appreciate your program. Well, God bless you. Thank you, Mike. Can you continue on with the Lord? Yes, sir. God bless you. I think we’re living in the last days and we’re close to when the Lord will come back. I don’t know a date. I’m not a date setter, but I’m a watcher. I’m looking for Christ to return. How about you? Jesus said 23 times in the four gospels to watch for his coming. If we are not watching as a Christian.
We’re delinquent. I’ve had some people tell me from some churches. Oh, we don’t watch. We’re not looking. We’re not we don’t know when he’s going to come back and we’re not looking. Well, obviously there are. delinquent because Jesus commands us 23 times in the Gospels to be looking, to be watching. And guess what? One of the five crowns that a believer can earn is simply for looking for and watching for Christ to return. It would seem that would be a piece of cake for anyone.
I’ve been watching ever since I got saved and I’m excited about the fact that Christ is returning and I believe I’m going to get that crown because there’s a crown given to those who watch and are looking for living in the expectancy of Christ’s return. I hope you have trusted Jesus as your Savior. Salvation is a gift. It is received by faith when you trust Christ as your Savior and possess forever thereafter. Wow, it is free. There is nothing you can do.
Nothing you can do. You are saved when you TRUST Christ and His death and shed blood at the cross is the only means of your salvation. You’re not saved. You’re not saved by joining the church. And I could go on and on and on. Amazing to me. How many people use bad phrases? And I’m talking about people that ought to know better are in pulpits, telling the congregation to ask Jesus into their heart. No such thing in the Bible.
That is absolutely fabricated. And There’s no verse that says that. There’s no verse that says you give your heart or give your life to Christ to be saved. All of that is fabricated by man, totally false. Nothing in the Bible about that. There’s only one way to be saved. Believe on the word Jesus Christ, and thou shall be saved. The word believe means to trust. When you trust that he died for you and shed his blood, God will save you.
We’re living in a day when people are not careful. They just repeat phrases and listen to what other people say, and they’re not checking out what their Bible says. And one day, obviously, that could mean the difference between heaven and hell. Unless you get it right from the Bible, you will one day be embarrassed because you will have missed what God has offered you, salvation through faith in Christ alone. Revelation chapter 12 about Petra, the Bible talks here about Israel described as the woman in chapter 12 of Revelation, how that she will flee into the wilderness where she has a place prepared of God that they should feed her there for three and a half years.
That’s the last half of the tribulation period and the Jews will flee into this place prepared of God. This city has been waiting, all prepared, waiting there for 2,000 years down. It was really vacant and undiscovered to the world tell in the 1800s about 1850 something a British archaeologist named Burkhardt rediscovered it to the world and this is the place I believe the Bible is describing and let me read that wonderful verse in verse 6 where it says and the woman which is Israel fled into the wilderness where she has a place prepared of God that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and and three score days.
Then it says here in verse 14, and the woman or Israel was given two wings of a great eagle that she might fly into the wilderness into her place, into her place, a special place prepared, where she is nourished for a time and times and a half a time from the face of the serpent. You know, it’s interesting here that here’s a phrase that is from the book of Daniel It talks about the very same time period we’re talking about here.
And nobody ever knew what that phrase meant, time times and half of time. But here, if you have your Bible open, you’ll notice verse 6 and verse 14 are equivalent. And so we learn from the very first time from the book of Revelation that time times and half of time is equal to 1260 days or three and a half years. And so now we know the meaning. Isn’t that amazing? So therefore time means one year plus times that’s two years, one plus two is three plus a half a time, it’s three and a half years.
So the Jewish people will flee from the Antichrist midway through the seven years of tribulation and they’ll flee into this place in the wilderness. Which is in southern Jordan to this city. And then there are those who think and they are trying to scheme a way out of that and they’ll say, okay, I can see Christ won’t cast me out but I can cast myself out. If I don’t want it anymore, I can cast myself out of heaven. Not true.
Look at verse 39, this is the Father’s will. You can’t go any higher in authority than that. That has sent me. That of all of which had given me, I should lose the first two dozen. No, I didn’t say that. I misread that on purpose. It says here, that of all of which had given me, I should lose nothing or none, but raise them up against the last day.
God’s Word would be nothing. You couldn’t trust what God had to say. But God is telling us a wonderful truth here. You cannot be lost once you become saved. Now, you can lose rewards, you can lose your joy, you can lose your effectiveness, you can lose your testimony, you can’t even lose your life.
The Lord might take you home to heaven early, but you certainly cannot lose your salvation. And once you understand that, you’ve understood that your salvation is not something that you earn or gain, but something that has been given by God as a gift to all those that would believe on Christ. Now we’re going to go to the passage I’d like to turn to. And this is Mark’s Gospel, the second book of your New Testament, Matthew, Mark, chapter 8. Mark, chapter 8.
And I want you to practice a little rightly dividing the word of truth with me. And that means to set the truths of God’s Word in right order. Verse 34 says, when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me. You might want to mark that, and that is not the same as coming to Christ. We come to Christ to be saved. We come after Christ. To be a disciple or follower of Christ.
Jesus said in Matthew 4, 19, follow me and I will make you fishers of men. So the believer who follows Christ or comes after Christ, his focus should be on becoming a fisher of men where we learn how we can share this wonderful message with our family and friends and others to make sure that when they die that they will also be in heaven with us. So it says here in verse 34 of Mark 8, Whosoever will come after me, let him what?
You see, coming after Christ and becoming a disciple of Christ is going to cost you something, and it says, notice, let him deny himself. And I believe that what it means is, in other words, your goals and your values and your objectives in life ought to be lining up with the Scripture. And if you are saying, no, I’m going to do it my way, then you are really exhibiting the very essence of what sin is all about. Frank Sinatra is saying that song and it always reminds me of that.
He says, I did it my way. I’ll bet if he had a chance to come back, he would retract that. And he would probably want to say, I’d rather have done it God’s way. You know, when you do it your way, That’s exactly what Adam and Eve did. God had said clearly in the garden, Thou shalt not eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Or if you do, you’re going to surely die. And what happened?
They decided to do it their way. Satan had first tempted them and told them how appealing that tree was, not only for physical beauty. It was a beautiful tree and the fruit was gorgeous and beautiful. It looked delicious, but also it also offered, according to Satan wisdom about evil and good. And they would be like, God, if they only ate of that fruit. And so what did they do? They rejected God and did it their way. And ever since, that’s what sin is all about.
Isaiah 53, 6 says, all we like sheep have gone astray. Baa, baa. That part isn’t in there, I’m sorry, I had to do some sound effects. All we like sheep have gone astray. And then it says, and we’ve turned, everyone to our own way. In other words, the tendency for man is to go their own direction, to choose their own way, to do it their way, and not to do it God’s way. It’s very important for us to realize there’s only one way to heaven.
That’s God’s way, that’s Christ. Christ said He was the way. Trust Him, and then you’re saved. But then after you’re saved, it’s also important to recognize that we want to do it God’s way. We want to live as the Bible tells us to live, which will bring about the rewards of that which are rewards in heaven. So he says, come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. So you might want to mark, come after me, follow me.
This is all Christian life. It is not salvation. Now people, because they don’t rightly divide, will read this and the following verses and get confused. it will seem to teach works for salvation if you don’t get it right from the get-go that this is talking to those who are saved about following Christ, coming after Christ, not talking about how to become saved, which is coming to Christ by simply trusting Him. Verse 35, whosoever will or has his bent or desire or focus where he is focusing on saving his life shall lose it.
Now what is that talking about? It’s talking about if you are going through life and say it’s my life, my body, I’m going to do with it as I please and I’m going to reserve my life for my pleasures and my desires and my direction and my values and my goals and that’s what I’m going to do. The Bible says you’re going to lose your life. Now what it means by that is your life as far as counting for eternity and the rewards you could have had in heaven will have been forfeited and you will have laid your life down and lost it.
But then it says, but whosoever shall lose his life, maybe a better word would be to spend his life, to spend it for Christ as opposed to spending it for self and you have X number of hours on the clock or years on the clock on your life and how will you spend those years? How will you spend your life as you look at your future. Well it says here, if you will spend it and the world’s eyes lose it for my sake and the gospels, that person will have what?
Save their life. In other words, your life is going to count for eternity. Your life is going to count for eternity. I think most people would like to do something of significance that would really count. Did you look? At the world, the pharaohs built the pyramids. They wanted to leave a mark, and certainly they did. And they’re weathering, but they’re still there, aren’t they? But you know, those pyramids are going to go. All the monuments that men might build, and things that men might do are all going to be gone one day.
The earth is going to be destroyed by fire, the Bible tells us, and nothing will be left, except the things that we’ve done for Christ. Those will last. Those will carry into eternity. And so the Bible is talking about doing something significant. I discovered early on, thank God as a believer, that if I led someone to Christ, they would be with me in eternity, and I would have left a mark that would carry on forever and ever and ever and ever.
That that person that I influence, that I share the gospel with, that I lead the Christ will be with me in eternity. And I will have impacted somebody forever, a pyramid only lasts for a few thousand years perhaps. But a soul one will be around forever and ever and ever. And whatever we do for Christ and for His glory will be around forever and ever and ever and ever. And so when you grasp that, you know, when you die, you leave it all behind, whatever you’ve built up for this world.
But when you lay up treasures in heaven by living and serving Christ, then you’ve already sent it ahead and it’ll be there waiting for you. your place right here. I want to go to one verse in Revelation. It’s so exciting. And it’s a verse that talks about us laboring now for Christ and how those who labor for Christ can really rejoice and be happy. It’s Revelation chapter 14 and this is verse 13. It says in verse 13, I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, page 13, 44, chapter 14, verse 13.
I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, right. John has instructed to write this down. Blessed, the word blessed means happy. Are the dead which die how? In the Lord. That means that they have trusted Jesus as their Savior. are happy are the dead which die in the Lord, in Jesus, from his fourth. Yay, saith the Spirit, that is the Spirit of God, that they may, what, rest from their labors. In other words, while we’re here in this world is the time when we can work for God.
But once you die, that opportunity is gone, and it says here, blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from his fourth. Yay, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors and look at the last phrase. And their works do what? Follow them. Isn’t that amazing? Their works follow them. Whatever you do for Christ here will carry over into eternity. And the works that you do here for Christ will follow you into heaven and will be rewarded there.
Isn’t that exciting? That really is exciting. I remember as a brand new believer seeing these truths and I said, Where am I going with my life? I was in college, my pursuits were all worldly, and all of a sudden I was confronted with this, and I said, whoa, I need to take a fresh look at where my life is headed. I need to do things that are going to make an impact for eternity, not just this life only. And that is true.
And I want you to go down to Timothy, and we work our ways back over to Acts, rather to Mark. But if you go to 1 Timothy, I had a roommate in college. I had led him to Christ. And he lives here in Tampa at this hour. He’s a pharmacist. And anyway, I lived on the third floor of Murphy Hall at Gainesville University of Florida. He lived on the first floor. Well, I was evangelizing every floor. So guess what?
I led him to Christ. He was just like a sponge. He had so many questions. He was always running up to my room and asking questions. I said to him, I won’t give his name, but I said, why don’t you just plan to room with me next semester? I was able to save you all that climbing up and down the stairs. And you could just ask me without coming and banging on my door every ten minutes. Well, we decided to do that and he became my roommate.
And he was learning with questions. But he was a fellow that did a lot of workouts and muscle building and body building. And he was in the Mr. Florida contest and I think he placed high there. I don’t think he got Mr. Florida but he was close at it. And he was so faithful with his regiment of working out. He was at the gym on a regular schedule. He had his special wheat germ and other things on his desk and he was always doing that.
I would watch him do his flexing in front of the mirror as he would, preparing himself for the contest where you have to, you know, do these different moves and bend and turn and twist and the muscles will jump out and all that. Well that was my roommate. And I read in this verse, and as a believer, I teased him with it and I got him mad. It says in verse 8, bodily exercise, prophet of little. Whoa, I got, I pushed a hot button with my roommate.
Of course, we’re not saying here, don’t do bodily exercise. It’s important to take care of your body and you need exercise and you need to eat right. And I don’t want to discourage you in those areas. But look at what it says here in contrast. It says, but godliness, that is to exercise yourself in spiritual things, is profitable unto what? All things. And look at this now. It’s a double blessing here. It says, having promise of the life that now is, that’s this present life.
And big bonus here, and of that which is the what? Come. So if you exercise yourself spiritually, you’re going to have benefits now, as it says you’re You’re having promise of the life that now is, and you’re going to get blessed in heaven because it’s also going to have promise of that which is to come. You’ll be rewarded in heaven. We hope that you have enjoyed today’s teaching from the Resurrection Series by Dr. Hank Lindstrom, and we’ll join us next time as we continue this series.

Good. I have a question today. I really appreciated what you said earlier about the burial and resurrection. I agree with that. I really believe in how Christ came to fulfill the Passover and how his burial and resurrection go in line with that. My question today is what are your feelings about Christmas? And I think that Christmas is a tradition that is really followed in the church and there’s not a lot of biblical evidence for it. Well, you’re absolutely right.
And back in October I was preaching on how that Christ probably was born in October, definitely not December 25th. And December 25th was when Baal, his birthday was celebrated. And a lot of the paganism of that crept into Christianity when Constantine came along and declared the world to become Christian. But I don’t try to change that tradition because it’s a great opportunity for us to present Christ to lost people at a time when they celebrate Christmas unknowingly, why? They really don’t include Jesus in their celebration.
They just have a giving of gifts and it’s a fun time for everybody and the kids. But I think it’s a great opportunity for us to present Christ. But I’d also to explain what doesn’t belong in Christmas and how Christ really is the center of what Christmas should really be all about. Exactly. But the problem is that God must have known that because you know the Bible record is absolutely silent as to the It gives hints as to when it is, but perhaps God knew that people would make more of a fuss about his birth than his death.
ButSen. The death of Christ is clearly told to be on the Passover and we know exactly what time he was nailed to the cross and what time he came off the cross and what time he was buried. But there’s no details like that concerning his birth because you must believe in Christ’s death to be saved, and you can believe in Christ’s birth and go to hell. to hell. So Satan doesn’t mind at all that we make it be fuss about the birth of Christ because you can believe in the birth of Christ and celebrate and go to hell.
You have to believe that Christ died for your sins in order to be saved. And so Satan’s clever, isn’t he? He certainly gets our focus away from the death barrel and resurrection. He puts it over in an area where it doesn’t really save us. Yeah, I think so too. And I really, you know, when we talk about the traditions in the church, I really think that Christmas and Easter have become so filled with pagan things and traditions instead of what we should really be focusing on our Messiah and they’ve sacrificed for us.
Well I agree with you and that’s why I try to get people to go back to the Bible and you know it won’t change your salvation with the blue-crisis crucified on Wednesday or Friday but actually a lot of people and I remember as a little boy trying to figure this thing out I said to myself, how do you get three days between Friday and Sunday and that puzzle being, and then you’d ask adults and then you’d say you just take it on faith.
And I thought that was really a cop out because I was a little science whiz and I love science and I went on to graduate in engineering and I said these people are just fooling with me because that just doesn’t make any sense at all. I think that sometimes people say take it on faith when they really haven’t studied things in depth because I think scripture is very in depth and that there is a lot of details that you need to really study it and then you can understand it.
That’s right, exactly right. Well, I’m so glad you’re listening out there in Bartow, Florida and you’re about ground zero for some of the hurricanes, weren’t you? Oh, yeah. But we’re fine here. Well, this is Bible, and I’m Dr. Hank Lindstrom. We’re going to get into the Bible for a few minutes. So the Jewish people will flee from the Antichrist midway through the seven years of tribulation, and they’ll flee into this place, into the wilderness, which is in southern Jordan, to this city that is prepared of God for her to flee to, and there God will miraculously feed Israel with manna again, and also water right out of the rock. As you come to the entrance of Petra, I’ve been there numerous times, you’ll find that there is a rock there they call the rock of Moses, which there are several, so I can’t say that this is the one, but definitely a place where water comes forth right out of the rock and will be probably the source of water during the tribulation period.
It’s interesting anyway, if not the rock A rock where water will come right out of the ground to take care of the Jewish people who will flee there. We find this is because Satan will turn against the Jewish people during the tribulation period and you can already see this coming. Jesus said in Matthew 24 about the Jewish people and the Jewish people will be hated above all nations for my name’s sake. You know today we see that anti-Semitism rising around the world.
Nations actually coming out like Iran where Abinajab says that Israel needs to be destroyed. He wants to nuke them and absolutely wipe out the whole country. It’s not the first time that the Jews have come into that kind of attack, but we find more and more nations are openly saying that they would love to see Israel be totally destroyed. Well, the Bible predicts that that would happen. And when we know that the Antichrist turns against them, the Jewish people will flee toward the mountains.
In fact, in Matthew 24 there is special instruction for the Jews that are living in Israel at the time that the Antichrist takes over Israel midway through and he will desecrate the temple that will have been rebuilt and he will place his image in that temple and when When that happens, those that are believers reading the Bible will find the following instructions. It says in verse 15 of Matthew 24, when you therefore shall see the abomination of desolation spoken of by Daniel the prophet.
Daniel spoke about this. Jesus is quoting Daniel here. When you see that abomination of desolation, which we believe is the image of the Antichrist, It will be lifelike and be placed in the temple in Jerusalem. When you see it stand in the holy place, there is the holy place right now. The temple that Christ entered into 2000 years ago was destroyed in AD 70 by the Romans and there is no temple. But the holy place will be reconstructed. There will be a third temple built right after the rapture and when the antichrist places his image there.
Can you imagine how close we must be? stones are already cut. And you know, there’s been a lot of fear here just in the last couple of days about finding the the Ark of the Covenant. It’s amazing how that the world is becoming more aware of this Ark of the Covenant as even the movie Raiders of the Lost Ark was about this Ark and about how of course the Germans wanted to get it because of the power that they perceived that they would have if they had that Ark in their control.
Well, fascinating that there are different speculations as to where that arc is, but that will be part of the furniture in that third temple. And it’s interesting that we have lots of people talking about and possibly they believe it is actually there underneath the temple mount. Gershan Solomon who we’ve had here several times and probably we’ll have back again was on an interview on on national television where he was talking about, he believes that it was a hidden underneath the temple mount.
