Bibleline has now been reformatted so that each program will feature a combination of teachings from Dr. Lindstrom, as well as answers to questions about the Bible.

Much of Dr. Lindstrom’s teaching material that we will be using has not been broadcast before. This is a format that Dr. Lindstrom had previously talked about using in other ministry areas. So we feel comfortable that he would have approved of these changes. We hope that you will enjoy this new format. As you look forward to hearing future Bibleline programs and detailed teachings from the Word of God, please tell your friends to also tune in and listen to Bibleline. Perhaps you could even start a small group Bible study based on the lessons taught.

In the current teaching series, we will cover a variety of topics related to the events leading up to and surrounding the resurrection of Jesus, including topics such as the wages of sin, everlasting life, the triumphant entry, Palm Sunday, the Passover, the crucifixion and burial of Jesus, and of course the resurrection of Jesus. If you missed any of the teachings in this series, just give our resource center a call at 1-800-576-3771. Now, if you can, Please open your Bible to John chapter 12 verse 33 and join us for Dr.

Lyncham’s teaching for today. So the Lord wants everybody to be saved and everybody is being drawn but not everybody comes to the Lord because they have a free will to reject Christ. Verse 33, this He said signifying what death He should die. So here this is clearly talking about being lifted up on the cross from the earth and dying. We saw it also in John 3 where Christ made reference to the brazen serpent that was put on a pole and held up and it was lifted up in the wilderness and those that would just look on it would be healed.

A picture of Christ being lifted up on the cross and all you had to do to be saved is look to Christ and trust Him, and you would be healed of the penalty of sin and death and would go to heaven. Verse 34, the people answered Him, we have heard out of the law that Christ abided forever. And how sayest thou the Son of Man must be lifted up? Who is this Son of Man? Well, this creates a problem that the Jewish people still wrestle with, and that is that the Messiah would live forever.

And yet here Christ is claiming to be the Messiah and talking about His death. And so the Jewish people, because He came and came as a suffering Messiah and died, rejected Him. They were only believing the promises of His Second Coming when He’d come as a great King and a great deliverer and deliver them. They were expecting Christ to deliver them from Rome’s oppression. The prophets recognized this, but they themselves were confused. Look at you over at Peter. They will just take this little side trip for just a second.

But it’s a fascinating passage over here at the Inn of your Bible where Peter tells us about how the Old Testament prophets spoke of the two comings. wrestled about the interval of time between them. This is 1 Peter, page 1312, 1 Peter 1 Notice verse 10, of which salvation the prophets have inquired and searched diligently, who prophesied or preached of the grace that should come unto you. Verse 11, 1 Peter, page 13, 12, searching what or what manner of time the spirit of Christ, which was in them.

Notice here the Holy Spirit is called the Spirit of Christ and he was in the Old Testament prophets. And notice it says which was in them and did signify when it should read he the Holy Spirit testified beforehand, notice the sufferings of Christ, that’s the first coming, and the glory that should follow, that’s the second coming. And so notice these prophets search diligently, notice, and they inquire diligently, verse 11, searching what or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ, which was in them, did signified because they couldn’t figure out.

Here are two comings, but they didn’t know about that big interval between the two comings. How there would be a two thousand year gap. But the Jewish people didn’t want to respond to the fact that he would suffer and die. They seemed to ignore those scriptures. By the way, if we back up one verse, I think I’ll just talk about it for a second. Verse 9 says, receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls. Well notice the italicized words, and I believe if you read the verse without them, it makes good sense, leave it out.

And I think the meaning has been distorted again by the italicized words. It’s saying here that Christ is coming back in this chapter, and verse 8, whom, having not seen you love and how that we’re looking forward to seeing him again. Verse 9 speaks about receiving the end of your faith. And it should just read the salvation of souls. In other words, the end product of your life, in my life, when it’s all over, should be that souls have been one, that there are those who have been touched by your life and have gotten saved as a result.

And sometimes it might even happen at your death. I mean, I’ve had three funerals in two weeks and we’ve had people get saved at every one of those. And these were all people that were saved when they died. They went to heaven. But in telling their testimony to friends and loved ones and neighbors that came, they heard the gospel and heard about the Savior that the deceased had believed in, and as a result they got saved. And I’ve seen people have dozens get saved at their funeral service, and maybe they’ve never really seen much in their Christian life, but at their death I’ve seen a lot of people get saved.

And so the end result of your life should be that others are touched by the gospel. Every time you can see it happen during your life. That’s exciting. I know that it really is probably one of the most thrilling experiences to actually tell somebody how to be saved and see them trust the Lord. I remember being newly saved and seeing my mom and dad get saved. That was a great thrill to make sure that they were going to be in heaven with me.

Obviously, we want to accomplish that. That’s a great verse, isn’t it? Receiving the end of your faith, what? The salvation of souls. So the end product, when you get all done with your life, when it’s all said and over, that people ought to get saved. And sometimes you can maybe plan out your funeral. I had one not too long ago, and the gentleman who passed away used to attend here had moved out to Mulberry, Florida, but his kids got the video camera and he sat out back on the swing and he told how he was going to heaven, why he was going to heaven.

And during the funeral service, they put it on the big screen for everybody to watch. And you saw that it ceased, it was laying in the casket, actually speaking in a video presentation to everybody there that came, hearing him tell his own story about how he’s in heaven. and said, wow, that don’t even need me. He’s telling them that they need to believe on Christ, and now he’s in heaven now, and not to worry about him. That was a great idea.

Wouldn’t it be great if you left something like that behind for your family or others, somebody of you? And it doesn’t have to be just for your funeral, but just to let family members in other places. Watch a video of you giving your testimony. and uh… If they watch it, they’re going to hear the gospel, and most likely they’d probably watch it all the way through. At a curiosity of nothing else to see what you’d have to say. So that’s an idea for you.

So Christ here is going to die, and the Jewish people have this problem to this very hour. Notice the answer to Him and said, we have heard that out of the Scriptures, the Old Testament law, that Christ abided forever. How do you say that the Son of Man must be lifted up on the cross to die? Who is this Son of Man? So that was a problem for them. Then and still is to this very hour. When you talk to Jewish people, they just have difficulty accepting that the Messiah would come in that way.

They’re still looking for the Messiah. Jewish people, but they don’t see him as someone who is going to come and suffer and die. And that’s why they missed him when he came the first time. Verse 35, Then Jesus said unto them, yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while you have the light. Let darkness come upon you for he the walk of the darkness, nor not whether he go with. While you have the light, believe in the light.

Now, he already said he is the light of the world, John 9. So notice that phrase there, believe in the light, means to believe in Christ. So while you have the light, and that was when Christ was here on the earth, they should have believed on him. Notice these things, spake Jesus, and departed and did not hide Himself from them. right now at the time when Christ is about ready to be crucified on the cross. And then it says in verse 37, though He had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on Him.

And there you have the negative form, and obviously another phrase you might want to mark here. That the saying of Isaiah, the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report. That’s a quote from the 53rd chapter of Isaiah. There we find the word report is used as we find here in the quote, but that word report is made equivalent in other places to the word gospel. Isaiah is saying, Lord, who have believed the gospel.

And the whole story of Christ from birth to death, burial and resurrection is all told in that wonderful 53rd chapter of Isaiah. And then it says here, and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed? And the arm, speaking of his strength, his power. And of course, I’d like to tie that verse or that thought to Romans 1, 16, where Paul I’m not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believe it.

So when you believe the gospel, that’s when you receive God’s power to save you, because He saves you when you trust Christ as your Savior. Verse 39, therefore they could not believe because Isaiah said again, he hath blinded their eyes and hardened their heart that they should see with their eyes and not understand with their heart and be converted and I should heal them. So we find here that blindness came upon them because they were rejecting the truth and they did not believe.

But it wasn’t that they could not believe they would not believe. Let’s go back to John 5 for just a moment and you’ll see this because no one has ever said that they could not have. Notice in verse 39 of John 5, Jesus tells the unsaved Jewish audience, listening, search the scriptures for in them you think you have eternal life and they are they which testify of me. Well, here was a crowd that rejected who Christ was, and he’s telling him, you need to take a fresh look at the Bible, because here I am.

I’m the Savior. And if you want to have eternal life, you have to trust in the Savior. And notice what he says in verse 40, you will not come to me that you might have life. Now, notice it doesn’t say you cannot come to me. It says you what? Will not come to me that you might have life. So he’s making it plain. You need to take a fresh look at the Scriptures. The Scriptures testify about me. Here I am, and you will not come to me that you might have life.

So you need to search the Scriptures for in them. You think you have eternal life. Look at how many people carry a Bible around that are going to help. They’re religious and they would say to you, yes, I believe the Bible, but they reject Christ as the only means of their salvation. So they’re lost. And they’re not going to make it into heaven. And so that is what Christ is saying here. Search the Scriptures. In the Scriptures you think you have eternal life.

But they are, they which testify about me and you will not come to the Bible. to me that you might have life. So you have to come to Christ to be able to have life, the theme that we’ve seen all the way through this wonderful book. Then it says in verse 41, these things say of Isaiah when he saw his glory and spake of him. That was in Isaiah 6 when Isaiah got a glimpse of Christ, the king of glory.

But then it says in verse 42, there were those Jews that did believe. Nevertheless, among the chief rulers, also many what? And there’s that phrase again that you want to mark. Many believed on him. Notice of the chief rulers in Israel, many believed on him. So we find here that although as a nation, for the most part, Israel rejected their Savior, were those who did believe, and some of them were leaders in Israel. Then it says, but because of the Pharisees, they did not what?

Confess Him. And there are some preachers that say you have to publicly confess Christ to be saved. And here, obviously, there were many of these chief leaders that believe, but they did not confess Him. So that’s certainly not true. Why didn’t they confess Him? Unless they should be put out of the synagogue. Why? Verse 43, they love the praise of men more than the praise of God. So a person can be a secret believer. And there were many that were because of the praise of men that the people wanted.

Now please join us for a question and answer segment featuring Dr. Lindstrom and callers from previous Bibleline radio shows. Mark in Tampa calls in and leaves this offer question and he says, what does the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand mean?

Did it mean or did it begin when Jesus was born or after the resurrection? Well the Kingdom of Heaven is really an expression that should read literally the Kingdom of the heavens where it’s when the heavens will rule over the earth. That’s the millennial kingdom that Christ is going to establish that will happen at His second coming. It was at hand because the king was here actually on the earth, Christ. And had the Jewish people received Christ as their king, the kingdom would have been set up when Christ came the first time.

And if that had happened, this present age would not have even occurred, and you and I would not have been born. But God in his foreknowledge saw that the kingdom would be rejected as they would reject the king, and so the kingdom has been postponed and will not take place until the second coming. So the kingdom of heaven was at hand, but obviously the king was rejected and went back to heaven, and now we’re waiting for his second coming.

As the church, as the body of Christ, were waiting for the rapture, but God will, right after the Rapture, pick up with his plan for Israel and offer himself again as a king to Israel. When they do receive him, he’ll set up his kingdom at the Second Coming. Mark, thank you for that question. We now have Armando and Armando is in St. Petersburg. Armando, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. You’re on the air Armando. Good morning, Dr. Lindstrom.

Good morning. I want to If that happened on his body when they could have done it Friday? Well, they couldn’t because there were three Samus that week. There was the Passover Sabbath on Thursday, the Unleavened Bread Sabbath on Friday, the regular Saturday Sabbath on Saturday. And then at the end of those Samus, then they could. Let me just read something to you in Matthew 28 verse 1. And here at the Schofill again is so helpful. It says in the end of the Sabbath it should literally read and Schofield points it out literally end of the Sabbath’s plural.

Or as Schofield suggested, might be translated, the Sabbath’s plural end and then the first day of the week comes and then the women came at the end of those three Sabbath days. So there was the Passover Sabbath, the Unleavened Bread Sabbath and then the Saturday Sabbath. And when those three Sabbaths had ended, they came early that morning of Sunday, and they came not looking for resurrection, but to actually anoint the dead body and finish the herd barrel from three days earlier.

But they found the tomb empty and the angel told him, why are you here? He’s not here, he’s risen just like he told you. And they remembered those words. So the answer is there were several Sabbaths in a row and after the Saturday Sabbath they were able to approach the tomb. Well the thing is that you know I used to be a member of the worldwide church of God and we kept all the Sabbaths, the Jewish holidays and there’s nowhere in the Bible but falling back to back.

Sometimes we have to celebrate two Sabbaths in the world because the high Sabbaths will fall on Friday and then we have the weekly Sabbath but two high holidays never fall one back to back and that’s the question because there’s no evidence of that in the Bible. Well I would beg to differ. I think you need to read Matthew 28.1 and if you have a Scofield it points it out very clearly but it says the Sabbath’s end and then the first day of the week comes or literally as Scofield points out in the margin, it should read, End of the Sabbath.

In the end of the Sabbath’s plural, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre, and they found the tube empty. So there were obviously three seps in a row, and that’s very clear there. You see, the Jewish people go by the lunar moon, and so these seps jump around, and the feast days, seps, were Sabbath even though they didn’t fall on Saturday. Thank you for that call.

Don’t go away. Bibleline will be back in a moment. To pledge your support for Bibleline, give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. Well, this is Bibleline.

I’m Dr. Hank Lindstrom. We’re going to get into the Bible for a few minutes. Your Bible there, turn if you will to Zachariah chapter 14. Zachariah chapter 14 is an amazing chapter as the whole book of Zachariah is. This is the next to the last book in your Old Testament. It’s Zachariah chapter 12 and it says in verse 1, Behold the day of the Lord cometh. The day of the Lord cometh. The day of the Lord is an expression used throughout the major and minor prophets, also used in the New Testament of a thousand year day called the day of the Lord.

It’s a very interesting phrase because it is talking about a day when Christ will rule on the earth as King of Kings and Lord of Lords and the earth will finally be at peace. It tells us here in chapter 14 of Zachariah verse 9 when that happens the Lord shall be king over all the earth and in that day there shall be one Lord and his name one. Let me point out in verse 9 here when it says, in that day, you’ll see it often, that day, that day, that day, that day, that day, that day.

That day is a reference to the day of the Lord, which is a thousand year day. Now the technical definition of the day of the Lord is exactly the thousand year earthly reign of Christ. But in the broader sense, it usually also includes the seven years of tribulation that precedes it that prepare the way for the coming of Christ and His Kingdom here on this earth. For example, in 1 Thessalonians chapter 5, when it talks about the day of the Lord, we learn from that passage that it actually commences right after the Rapture.

And the tribulation period is included. Many of the Old Testament references talk about the judgments of the tribulation period as being a part of the day of the Lord. So we have it in the broader sense a thousand and seven years, but in the technical sense it’s just a thousand years. It says here in Zechariah chapter 14 in verse 2, for I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle. What an amazing statement. No one Zachariah wrote this particular book.

Jerusalem was not much of a city. It would be hard to believe that the whole world would come to war against Jerusalem. And yet today we don’t laugh. We don’t doubt that this could happen because look at the news today as Israel is in the center of the news all the time and Jerusalem is such a significant city. By the way, I just returned from Israel and Jerusalem has a population of 750,000 people. Amazing! It’s huge! Tampa, which is where I live, there’s only around 300 or 350,000 within the city limits.

Now we’re a tri-city area with St. Petersburg, clear water and Tampa and there’s well over a million people in the whole area. But the city of Tampa only has a little over 300,000 and Jerusalem is double that. 750,000 is the population of Jerusalem today. And here it says that all nations would be brought against Jerusalem to battle. We also find that when that happens, then it says in verse 3, then Then shall the Lord go forth and fight against those nations.”

So this is the second coming. This is when Jesus will come back and he will interrupt Armageddon and fight against the nations that come against Jerusalem. And in chapter 12 he says he will seek to destroy all those nations that come against Jerusalem. This is the battle of Bible warns about the battle of Armageddon. It says here, then shall the Lord go forth, verse 3, and fight against those nations as when he fought in the day of battle. Now the day of battle there is probably a reference to the Egyptian day when Moses led the children of Israel out, and when God fought for them and destroyed the Egyptian army in the Red Sea.

And as we said in the book we have here in our Resource Center called the Exodus Case. It’s a big volume which really is quite a remarkable book that takes you through the history of the Exodus of Dr. Englund’s room and this is Bibleline. Turn if you will to Exodus chapter 12. What is happening today as Palm Sunday has its beginning way back in the Old Testament. If you remember Moses came into confrontation with Pharaoh and Moses had worked ten plagues. The last one, of course, was where the angel of death came through Egypt at midnight and killed the firstborn in every home in all of Egypt.

Those homes, though, that had applied the blood of a lamb were spared. And so here’s the story of how that took place in Exodus chapter 12 and verse 1 it says in the Lord spake in the Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt saying this month shall be unto you the beginning of months it should be the first month of the year to you. That’s in the spring when they came out of Egypt and crossed the Red Sea.

The Jewish people today are celebrating a civil New Year and began during the Babylonian captivity when they now begin to celebrate their, or since then they have begun to celebrate their New Year on Rosh Hashanah in the fall. But otherwise the religious New Year in the Bible is always in the spring. It says in verse 3, speak under the congregation of Israel, saying in the tenth day of this month, they shall take to them every man a lamb according to the house of their fathers a lamb for a house.

So they were to select a lamb out on the tenth day of the month. We believe Palm Sunday was the tenth day of the month, Nye Sen. In the bulletin you’ll have my chart there. And if you go by the Jewish month, which is operating by the lunar calendar, on the tenth day of the first month they were to select a lamb out that was to be slain. And we believe that Palm Sunday was exactly the fulfillment of that.

Notice verse 5, your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year. You should take it out from the sheep and from the goats. And so the lamb was to be a perfect lamb. And we find that it was to be examined over the next several days until on the 14th day, was Passover, the Lamb would be slain. Look at verse 6, You shall keep it, the Lamb, until the 14th day of the same month, and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening.

What is interesting, although this accounted for the nation and each family was to take a lamb, it seems like it’s implied here that the congregation of Israel is singularly killing one lamb. That lamb is the Lamb of God, the Lord Jesus Christ, and he is the sinless Lamb of God that was slain to pay for the sins of the world. They were to take in verse 7 the blood and strike it on the two side post and on the upper row post of the houses wherein they would eat it.

If you were to picture the entrance to a home and applying the blood over here to the one side and then to the other and directly above, you could certainly see the crucifixion with blood pouring down from the head of Christ from the crown of thorns and blood pouring from the wounds in his hands, as if you were to bisect the two points across the sides of the door and a vertical line coming down, you would have a cross.

And Jesus Christ is that Lamb. That night, the angel of the Lord would come through Egypt. Notice if you will, it says in verse 12, I will pass through the Lamb of Egypt this night. I’ll smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast, and against all the gods of Egypt. I will execute judgment. I am the Lord. Verse 13, end the blood, end the blood, end the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where you are.

When I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you when I smite the land of Egypt. And of course, it was a picture of Christ, the Passover Lamb, that when you apply His blood by faith, trusting that He died and shed His blood for your sins, that when God comes in judgment one day, He passows over everyone who has applied His blood. There is no doubt about the connection here.

1 Corinthians 5 or 7 says, for even Christ, our Passover is sacrificed for us. Corinthians 5-7, for even Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us. He’s the Passover Lamb, not only for Israel, but for you and for me and for everyone that would ever live, all that would put their trust in Him, apply His blood by faith. God would pass over them in judgment and they would be spared. Notice it says here in verse 6, you shall keep it until the 14th day of the same month and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening.

The evening is that period of time between 3 o’clock in the afternoon and 6 p.m. in the evening and it’s always the afternoon of the preceding day. I want you to just follow with me without looking at anything but the tenth day being Sunday, Palm Sunday. The lamb is designated as the Lamb to be slain. The 11th was Monday, the 12th was Tuesday, and throughout these days Jesus is examined, just like the Lamb that was separated out was examined, so that they could be assured that it was without blemish and without spot.

Over the next couple of days Jesus is examined by everybody it seems. The Pharisees, the Sadducees, the Herodians, scribes. Later he’s taken, of course, before Caiaphas and Ennis and Herod and finally in the morning of the crucifixion before Pilate. And Pilate is the last Inquisitor, the last one to interrogate Jesus. And what does he say before the crowd? I find no fault in this man. He was declared by Pilate as being that innocent lamb that’s lamb without blemish and without spot, the lamb that God had sent to die to pay for the sins of the world and that all that would receive of his blood by faith would be spared when God judges all of mankind.

The evening was always the afternoon of the preceding day. You have to begin to put yourself in Jewish shoes. And begin to think in terms of the way that Jews count their time. Today is Sunday, but at 6 p.m. tonight it will be Monday night and tomorrow will be Monday. Hard for us to adjust. But you can see Thursday of that week was the Passover. The Passover was always the 14th day. Notice how it works out so neat with the Old Testament picture that prophesied this whole event.

Christ being selected out on the 10th day, and here comes up the 14th day, which is Passover. Actually Passover night began Wednesday night, and the evening of the 14th day was the 13th day in the afternoon. It has to be that way to make preparations for that night period. It has to take place in the afternoon of the previous day because that’s the evening of that day. And so Jesus died at three o’clock on Wednesday, exactly when Israel was offering up her lamb.

As the many lambs that would be slain, the whole congregation of Israel became responsible in killing the lamb. And Jesus died exactly when the lamb would have been slain. What is interesting on Palm Sunday is Christ comes walking down the slopes of the Mount of Olives. And some of you have been with me in Israel and you have walked from the top of the Mount of Olives as we have walked down this old ancient Roman road. The very road that Christ would have come down that day.

And the crowds were there and they obviously recognized Christ as being a Messiah. And they said, Hosanna to the son of David, which is a Messianic title, recognizing that this was the Messiah, the one that prophets had spoken about, and they stralled the way with palm branches. Why was there such a crowd out on that day? Because people were coming for Passover. It was the tenth day, and there must have been thousands of lambs being brought by the people to be separated out, to be their lamb, to be slain for their household as they observe Passover.

And among all those lambs was a special lamb, the Lamb of God, the Lord Jesus Christ, God and flesh, coming down the slopes with those many other families who were bringing their lamb and Jesus was the lamb. Wow! He then enters into the temple area, throws over the money changers’ tables, and the religious leaders reject him. And they begin from that day forward to plot his death. And so truly, this was the lamb designated to be the lamb that would be slain, the lamb that God had sent, this lamb without blemish and without spot, the one that all of the inquisitors could find no fault in, this lamb being Jesus, God himself.

I don’t know what it does to you, but when I can go back to the book of Exodus and see the story of what happened that week, outlined so clearly, so plainly, it falls boom boom boom right into place. You know that God has to be the author of this book. There is no book like this. We are in the last days, right now there is more of an attack I think on Christianity that I’ve seen in a long time.

National Geographic will have a special on the book of Judas. When did Judas write that thing? You know he committed suicide, He didn’t have a whole lot of time to sit down the script, a lot of manuscript. Of course, it’s claiming to be written hundreds of years later. But even if Judas did write it, would you believe what he had to say? Obviously, the man who would betray Jesus, would you believe anything that this man would write? I wouldn’t.

And obviously it diverts totally from the Scriptures and it’s an attack upon Christ and upon the Bible. The book of Judas says that the end of disciples worshiped lesser gods, but Judas and Christ had a special relationship and that Judas knew who Jesus really was. that. Jesus had a special deal with Judas and they had a plan. If you buy into this kind of stuff, you’re absolutely crazy. I mean, this is what is happening today where the Bible says that churches even would depart away from sound doctrine and give their ears over to fiction.

And I’ve never seen so much fiction coming out as I do today than ever before. The Da Vinci Code, a movie, Tom Hanks, playing a port and roll. All fiction, the book is advertised as fiction, but it’s contrary to the Bible and why would you want to even bother to go look at it? This is another attack upon Christ and this person and upon the scriptures and what the Bible has to say. Why would you want to be a part of that?

As I read in the paper, the churches across America were using the Chronicles of Narnia to guide them through Lent. I said, that’s a big joke. I mean, the Chronicles of Narnia were fiction, and Lent is fiction. There’s no Lent in anybody’s Bible. Shake your Bible sometime. L-I-N-T might fall out. You’re not gonna find any L-E-N-T in the Bible. It’s totally pay. It has to do with Baal worship, and there’s not one reference to Lent in your Bible. And so why do people appeal to fiction to guide them through fiction?

Again, doesn’t anybody think about the Scriptures as being the text we need to go to. We’re now going to Charles in Tampa, Florida. Charles welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air I have a question my question is Why All today they’re celebrating what to call a good Friday That’s it Jesus That on Friday what is the reason do they try to make the whole wall and confusion or they do not know? Alright, leave. The problem came somewhere back down through time where somebody read John 19. 31. You might want to write it down and look it up later.

But John 19, and I’ll read the verse to you where it says here that Jesus here was crucified on the preparation of it says in verse 31 of John 19, the Jews, therefore, because it was the preparation that the body should not remain upon the cross on the Sabbath day. In their mind they said Sabbath,577 that’s Saturday, so he was crucified on the day before the Sabbath, that means Friday. But they didn’t read carefully because the next part of the verse says that Sabbath was a high day.

So it was a high holy day of Passover which really was on Thursday of that week. So it wasn’t the Saturday Sabbath, it was the Passover Sabbath which was on Thursday of that week. So he was crucified on the preparation of that which was the day before which was Wednesday. So somebody misread and obviously as a result a whole lot of people have followed that tradition and nobody wants to straighten it out and so they still talk about Good Friday.

What I find interesting here Charles is that people all over the world on Good Friday by curiously suffer the sufferings of Christ some say and they bleed. Some people call stigmatas, They bleed in their hands and in their feet. They bleed somewhere on the forehead where the crown of thorns was andBUS. And whether they do or they don’t, that’s not the question here. But I always tell people they Rosenstein they bleed on the wrong day. If this were really of the Lord, they would bleed on Wednesday.

Obviously, the tradition has created more problems as people try to say that they experience something on the day that Christ was crucified, but they have the wrong day. So every year you’ll read about it this week. I’m sure watch the papers carefully and you’ll find people will talk about paintings that cry and paintings that bleed and people that bleed and they vicariously are suffering the suffering of Christ. But I always like to point out they do it on the wrong day.

If this was really from God they would bleed on Wednesday. I hope that helps Charles and thank you so much for your call. We’re now going to go to Bob in Cape Coral, Florida. And Bob, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Hi Dr. Hank. I was just listening to you about the dynamics of Holy Week and Wednesday being what it is for the radio. radio. Could you explain to us who selects when Holy Week is on the calendar this year?

It’s the third week of March. And what parameter did they use to pick when Holy Week is on the calendar? I had that written down here and I missed place that sheet of paper. But basically if we were to follow the scriptures and the Jewish counting, we would be doing this in April because it slides back and forth with lunar moon but I really think politics I think all the universities want to have their spring break at the same time.

I think the schools likewise want to have their spring break at the same time and I think that basically businesses as well they want to have their spring sales centered around this event and so they’ve set the date for us and I think we’re kind of stuck with the political thing. But it doesn’t really matter because we’re really being reminded of what happened that wonderful week when it did happen. But if we were to be very technical, we would go to the month of April to the Jewish Passover date.

That’s the correct one. Thank you for calling in Bob from Cape Coral. Thanks for listening to Bibleline. Well, this is Bibleline. I’m Dr. Hank Lindstrom. We’re going to get into the Bible for a few minutes. And as we said a moment ago in the book we have here in our Resource Center called the Exodus case. It’s a big volume which really is quite a remarkable book that takes you through the history of the Exodus from the Bible and from science and from actually the geography of the land. You’ll find it a fascinating one especially looking at the chair wheels on the bottom of the red seat You’ll notice here in verse 4 it says his feet shall stand in that day upon the Mount of Olives So the Lord goes out and fights against the nations of this world, but then he touches down This has to be a reference to God and flesh the Lord Jesus Christ as his feet will touch on

on the Mount of Olives, and it tells us that the mountain will split in half. Half will be removed to the north, half of it to the south, and of course Jerusalem will be the city where Christ rules the earth from, and He will establish His Kingdom on the temple mount there in Jerusalem. And right now the Mount of Olives is to the east of the city of Jerusalem, and it’s going to be removed so that there will be a valley that will take us straight down to the Dead Sea.

Let me read the verse again in verse 4. His feet shall stand in that day upon the Mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east. And the Mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west. And there will be a very great valley. Half of the mountain shall be removed toward the north and half of it toward the south. And this is the time when it says in the end of verse 5, and the Lord my God shall come and all the saints with thee.

Wow, what a great verse. And by the way, this is the second coming, because when Christ comes at the rapture, he will come for his saints, F.O.R., but when he comes at the second coming seven years later, he He comes with his saints. Please note if you’re marking your Bible here, it says, the Lord my God shall come and all the saints with thee. That’s the second coming. So Christ comes to the Rapture for his saints and snatches this out.

We’re caught up to meet the Lord in the air. And then seven years later we come back with him. That’s exciting. Here you have that amazing reference and the difference is made clear in so many verses. A little teeny book of Jude talks about the second coming and there again it talks about Jesus coming back with his saints. Let me quote that verse to you from the little teeny book of Jude and it says here in verse 14 that Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these saying, Behold the Lord cometh with ten thousands plural of his saints.

Well, the word with again is used, and that’s the second coming. When Christ comes back with his saints, that’s the second coming. When he comes for them, that’s the rapture, and obviously we’re getting closer and closer to this event. And I believe that perhaps we’re very close. Maybe who knows? Maybe he would come this year. Wouldn’t it be something? If you’re a believer, you’d be part of a group that would never die, you’d simply be caught up to meet the Lord in the year.

And according to 1st Thessalonians 4, 14, chapter 4, verse 14, the key to being in the Rapture. The key to being saved is to simply trust Christ as your Savior. It says there that if you believe that Jesus died and rose again from the dead, that you’re going to be in the Rapture if you’re living when that event takes place. That’s exciting.
