I mean, we’re living in a time that this word, Farmah Kia, well describes our society today.
One that is using different drugs and there are legal and illegal drugs, and there are many who are addicts on drugs legally, and they just cannot get off. So this is what Armageddon’s all about. Coming back in people just will be set into that system and will not change their mind to come to know the Lord, even though the judgments are severe during the tribulation period. Chapter 10, verse one, I saw another mighty angel. The word angel means messenger.
In this case, this must be a picture of Christ. Coming down from heaven, clothed with a cloud, a rainbow upon his head, his face, whereas it were the sun, his feet, as pillars of fire. We read that kind of description in chapter 1 of Jesus Christ, and so this is probably Christ. He has in his hand a little book. Notice it says the book is open. He said his right foot upon the sea, probably the Mediterranean, and his left foot upon the the earth, probably somewhere in the Middle East around the Mediterranean Sea.
He cries with a loud voice as when a lion roareth. What do we know about Christ? In chapter 5 verse 5 of Revelation we already read that he is the lion of the tribe of Judah. So this I believe is a description of Christ. He’s a mighty messenger, come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud, a rainbow upon his head, his face where as it were the sun, his feet like pillars of fire. He had in his hand a little book and he cries with a loud voice as when a lion roars verse 3.
And when he cried, seven funders uttered their voices. And when the seven funders had uttered their voices, I was about to write. And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, seal up those things which the seven funders uttered and write them not. That’s seven more judgments, but we don’t get to know what they are. So there are seven seal judgments, seven trumpet judgments. thunder judgments and they are kept secret from us. We don’t know what they are and then there are seven bull or vile judgments seven as for 28 specific major judgments that will happen during the seven years after the tribulation period.
The angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up his hand to heaven and swear by him that liveth forever and ever who created heaven and the things that therein are and the earth and the things that therein are and and the C in the things which are therein. And it says that there should be time no longer. That phrase, time no longer means no longer delay. So here we are right here with the last part of the tribulation about to unfold.
And then it says in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished. We said the sevens all are the second coming. That’s when all these prophecies will be fulfilled. And when the seventh angel sounds the trumpet, that’s the second coming, the tribulation period is over. And as it says here, it is finished. And the tribulation period will be over as yet declared to his servants, the prophets.
Verse eight, and the voice which I heard from heaven speak to me again saying, go and take the little book which is open in the hand of the angel, which stand upon the sea and upon the earth. So John the Apostle is now instructed to go and grab this book from the hand of him that had it in his hand open. And I went to the angel and I said to him, give me the little book. And he said, take it.
Eat it up. It shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth as sweet as honey. And John says, I took the little book out of the angel’s hand. I ate it up. I digested his contents. It was in my mouth, sweet as honey. And as soon as I had eaten, my belly was bitter. So as he digested it in his mouth, it tasted like honey, but as he digesting the contents, it was bitter in his belly.
What is this little book? I believe this little book is the book of Daniel, 12 chapters long. The book of Daniel was sealed at the time it was written and was not to be understood until the end of time which is now. And so the book of Revelation is a book now that unfolds things from the book of Daniel and other Old Testament prophets. And that will start in the second half of the book of Revelation. Beginning in chapter 11, we’ll see all of a sudden allusions to the Old Testament, allusions to the book of Daniel.
We’ll understand things that we’re not understood before. Let’s go to the book of Daniel for just a moment, the chapter 12. I think you’ll find this very interesting. Daniel, you’ll find Ezekiel and then Daniel. And then if you have the Scofield Bible, it will be on page 919 in your Old Testament. Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Ezekiel, Daniel. Does that help? Daniel chapter 12, verse 4. Daniel is about ready to conclude this wonderful book, and God says to Daniel in verse 4, but thou O Daniel, shut up the words and what?
Seal the book even to the time of the end. And so here Daniel was to seal up this book until the end of time. And of course the book of Revelation now opens this wonderful book up for us. Look if you will at verse 4 what Daniel says about the end times which we’re living now. Many shall run what? To and fro. What a world. If you’d gone back into the 1800s, in that period of time most people never traveled outside of their own county, much less outside their own state.
Everybody who got married married somebody within a 12 mile radius of their house. People didn’t travel very far. So if you found somebody to marry, they usually live pretty close. I’m performing a wedding this weekend and as soon as the wedding is over this couple I’m marrying. It’s getting on a plane out here at Tampa International Airport and flying nonstop to Rome, Italy for their honeymoon. It’s a different world, isn’t it? If you lived back in the late 1800s, you probably would not have traveled outside of your county, much less your state.
But for a test here tonight, how many of you have been outside the United States of America? Look at all the hands here, the majority of you have traveled outside this country. Isn’t that incredible? Then I give you goosebumps. Daniel said the last days would be time of people running back to and fro. And we could just go a few blocks away behind this church over here to have the International Airport a gateway to the world. And you can step on a plane and be across the Atlantic.
It took Columbus three months to get here. And you could be over on the other side of that wide ocean in just a matter of hours, stepping off in a different part of the world. Amazing, isn’t it? Sir Isaac Newton, who was a Christian, wrote a commentary on the book of Daniel. He’s the one who discovered to us the laws of gravity and so on. And he made a statement that in the last days, people would probably travel as fast as 60 and 70 miles per hour.
He had an adversary, a bull terror, who was an atheist, a skeptic, and critic of Christianity, and he said, Newton, you’ve now gone too far. Anybody knows, if you traveled that fast, the skin would actually just be ripped off your bones. We can laugh as we look back at what little they did know as much as they had insight about the future, because most of you travel more than 60 and 70 on interstate every day. I’m sure you wouldn’t deny it if I asked you the truth about that.
Wow, what a day. We’re all traveling back and forth every day. My commute to come in here to the church is further than you would have traveled in 1800s from your home for your lifetime. Amazing today. We’re all traveling, aren’t we? And so this is an interesting thing and then it says knowledge will be increased and isn’t it amazing how knowledge has been increased today. They say it’s doubling every few years. And if you’re in any particular field of expertise, you have to keep studying to stay abreast of what’s going on.
on. And if you don’t catch up with a new technology you’re left in the dust. And it’s a time of real amassing of knowledge. Not the people who are in the smarter today, but the fact that we’re able to collect and gather and sift and sort and look at all that information, make sense of it and move forward with that, we’re living it in such a time. It’s an amazing time in which we’re living, isn’t it? And Daniel here tells us about the future and we’re here.
It’s happening right now. Look at you, will it verse 8? And this is what amazing about Daniel is that Daniel wrote this incredible book and he admits here that he didn’t understand what he was writing. Does that tell us something about inspiration I believe it does? Daniel 12-8, Daniel says, I heard I understood not and then I said oh my Lord what shall be the end of these things? You know can you imagine a person writing a book and didn’t understand the thing that he wrote and yet it’s one of the greatest books in all the world.

Lindstrom answering questions from callers. We’re now going to go to Elizabeth in St. Petersburg. Elizabeth, welcome to my blind year on the air. Thank you. I don’t know if there’s a simple answer for this, but if there is, can you simply explain how Jesus and the Father are one. That’s the first part of the question. Well, they’re the same God. If you read John 1030, which is what you’re talking about, Christ said, I and my Father are one. Now, if you read verse 28, Jesus said to the believers that you cannot be lost because you are held in myÛÛ.
Jesus said, then verse 29, Jesus said my Father, which gave them me is greater than all and no one is able to pluck them out of my father’s hand. Then he said, I and my father are one. So Jesus is claiming to be God. And if you read the context, the Jews then took up stones to stone him. And then Jesus said to them, many good works have I done for my father, for which of those good works do you stone me?
And then they answered, for a good work we stoned thee not, but for blasphemy, and because you’re a man claiming to be God. So the claim was very clear that Jesus claimed to be God. And of course we know that there is only one God, but He exists eternally as three separate persons. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Can I explain it? No, but it’s not addition. It’s one times one times one which equals one.
Right. Well, the second part of my question would be since Jesus was an Orthodox Jew. Does that make his father an Orthodox Jew? We’re talking about now the humanness of Christ. Of course, he was raised in the Jewish traditions and he attended synagogue and so on. Joseph and Mary both were Jewish and they, I’m sure they took Jesus as a boy to the synagogue. Of course, they took him to Jerusalem when he was 12, where he got into those discussions with the big, heavy duty leaders of the Jewish nation and they were impressed with his knowledge.
that, wow, he knew a lot about the scripture because he, of course, he’s God. But if you’re talking about God, the eternal Father, he’s not an Orthodox Jew. So they’re different in that regard. Yeah.=-=- I guess I’m just kind of curious, since when Jesus came into the world, he chose to be chosen into a Jewish family, obviously. Why is there such a separation between Judaism and Christianity? Well, you know, it all took place 2,000 years ago when the nation of Israel, for the most part rejected Christ.
The first Christians were all Jewish. Right. And they didn’t stop practicing their Judaism. Right. And so today, you know, I mean, they were shocked when Gentiles got saved at the beginning. Now it’s so turned around that we Gentiles get shocked when Jewish people get saved and it’s kind of a strange thing. But here’s what I say, true Judaism and true Christianity are you’re one and the same. And what has happened is that Judaism is falling into the trap that a lot of what is called Christianity is falling into and that is that they base their salvation on their works and their goodness rather than recognizing that they have to have God’s righteousness and his goodness to be saved and therefore they they don’t look for a Savior or don’t trust Christ because they think they’re able to earn their way.
But in the regard to the way Jesus himself lived, he did practice their type of worship and Judaism and did go, of course, completely by the Old Covenant. So it’s just always interesting to me to see the separation because it doesn’t really make sense. Right. Well, you have to understand that there are different ages. the age of law which began at Mount Sinai was interrupted by Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. And now God has issued in a new dispensation, Ephesians 3, 2 calls it the dispensation of grace, where God has combined Jews and Gentiles in one body, and that were not under the law but under grace.
But once the rapture happens, the last seven years of the dispensation of law will tick off the clock and we’ll be back under the law again. And so you know we’re back on Jewish territory once the rapture happens. Exactly. Well, thank you. That gives me a lot of insight. Okay, thank you so much. Elizabeth asking the hard questions today. We have Tony now in Richmond, Virginia. Tony, welcome to Bibleline. Thank you. How are you today? Good. My question is concerning a man who has been called to preach.
Okay. I read 1 Timothy, chapter 3, and it speaks of a bishop. the husband of one wife. What does the Bible say about a man who’s married to a woman that’s been divorced? I don’t know that it has any reference to that, but you know in the Old Testament the priest was to Mary a virgin. He was not allowed to marry a person who had been married before. There is no verse in the New Testament that says something similar, but I think the priest And also, of course, the New Testament ministers to be a role player for the congregation.
So the basic thought there is that, as God intended from the very beginning, that Adam and Eve obviously were virgin and they came together and married. And that was the picture, the role for all of mankind. And so those in spiritual leadership were to, at least in the Old Testament priesthood, were not allowed to marry somebody who had been divorced. I don’t see a verse that says that in the New Testament and I don’t know of any verse that would prohibit a pastor from having been married to somebody who had been divorced.
Well, you explained it as far as you can. But I think that probably is the reason why. Obviously, it’s a higher standard. You know, it says in James chapter 3 that the pastor or teacher is going to be held doubly accountable because he has a higher responsibility as to his teaching that he teaches correctly and God will judge him more severely than someone who is not a teacher. So it says don’t try to become a teacher because you just want to be a teacher because you need to realize that you have a much heavier responsibility and you need to be careful as that teacher to teach correctly and also be a good role model.
I sure appreciate your answer and I really enjoy your program. Thanks so very much Tony. That was Tony in Richmond, Virginia. We’re now going to go to Pete in Plant City. Pete, welcome to Bible Eye. good morning good morning dr. lnistem i enjoy your program and listen to you as often as i can beautiful and uh… i i i use you a lot in uh… in a teaching class but the while ago is you mentioned to the person that there was no place in the new testament about uh…
maryna uh… divorce woman and you said there was no place in the new testament however jesus said in five thirty two uh… that who served married her would could committed adultery and and who would one of the doctors pastor okay what’s it with that that’s a good point and I thank you for bringing it up that’s very insightful good because I use you a lot well thank you and I learned from my audience and then that’s a great point you brought up all right thank dr.
Lester my I would just wonder okay I think that’s a good point and I’m gonna relook at that and answer to that question thanks okay thank you dr. Lester and keep up the good work thank you a lot bye That was Pete in Plant City. We now are going to Kisha in Richmond, Virginia and Kisha. Welcome to Bibleline. Hi. I had a question. I also wanted to respond to the young lady, the Adventist, in reference to the salvation as far as being obedient to receive it.
When I was, unless I interpreted wrong, I was born again. I was only 14 or 15 years old and I was definitely not obedient. I became obedient, I started working on becoming obedient after I became saved, after I was reborn again. But I just believe that it probably wouldn’t be anyone saved if you can only become reborn again by being obedient because a lot of times when you’re born again, like you say, just because you’re believing that Jesus is the way and that this is what you’re supposed to be doing and he’ll guide you and the obedience usually comes after being reborn.
Well you’re absolutely right. Obedience doesn’t save but after we become saved God the Holy Spirit indwells us and gives us the desire and the power and the will to be obedient to the Lord. Right. But once I got saved all of a sudden I was reading my Bible all the time and they just saw such a transformation in me that I was saved. I desired to go to church, I desired to read the Bible because I was hungry to learn God’s Word.
But I didn’t have the power or the will or the desire prior to my salvation. Right. And that’s the hard thing. People feel I went through it myself and I’m back at the situation now. I back slid. I’m trying to get myself to a point where I’m supposed Like I said, I got saved at a young age. I had a girlfriend of mine through high school, and she was always speaking of the rapture while we were sitting at lunch and the cafeteria and everything, and we’re trying to shut her up and everything.
And I started going to church with her. I got saved at a young age. And I eventually backflipped. And when they saved you backsliding, you’ve seen seven times worse. I true believe of that now because I’ve gone through and did some things I would have never imagined myself going through. I haven’t done. So I’m at a point now, I’m working on trying to get that intimate relationship back with him. And it’s hard because you feel as though you’re being a hypocrite, if you’re going to church and it’s like I’m not going to go to church when I’m still out here.
I just went to the club this weekend. And so it’s hard, you feel like you’re not worthy of going in there, but what people need to understand is you come to him with all of your baggage. And once you get that relationship with him or get saved, like you said, you start to get that power and that strength and that confidence, that discipline that you need to leave those things alone. That’s right. You’re on the right track and then I pray that you can cut all those other things out of your life and just live faithfully for Christ.
I also wanted to question for you, what is the main difference between Jehovah Witness and Christianity? Because I have a lot of friends that are leaning towards Jehovah Witness because they sit down with them explain about what what is the big difference there between those well just about everything it’s easier to categorize what they don’t believe rather what they do believe they don’t believe in the trinity they don’t believe in the deed of Christ they don’t believe in the deed of the Holy Spirit they don’t believe in salvation by faith they don’t believe in the resurrection of Christ they don’t believe in blood transfusions they don’t believe in going to war for your country they don’t believe in saluting the flag they don’t believe in a celebrating birthday show we name all the things they don’t believe it’s important i mean there are mess uh…
the jose witnesses are far from the truth well thank you for calling thank you yet the jose witnesses uh… it’s easier to tell you what they don’t believe then what they do believe and they far far from the truth that we need to pray for them they need to know jesus as their savior we hope that you’re learning with this as you listen to this question and answer segment featuring dr hanklin strum If you’d like to hear today’s program again, then please visit our website at BibleLineMinistries.org.
There, you’ll be able to replay today’s program in our audio archives, as well as access other resources, including a Bible search tool and flashcards, in addition to many other resources in our online store. It’s time for us to take a short break now. When we return, we will continue this question and answer segment and then hear more Bible Don’t go away, Bibleline will be back in a moment. To pledge your support for Bibleline, give us a call at 1-800-576-3771.
That’s 1-800-576-3771. We have a question here and I’ll just go ahead and take some time to answer this now early. This is from Tim and he’s in Lake Worth, Florida and he says I’m preparing for my Sunday school class. And he’s having a tough time with Matthew 25 31 through 46. This is called the Judgment of the Nations. It talks about Jesus seven years after the Rapture coming back in all of his power and all of his glory. It says in verse 31 of Matthew 25, when the Son of Man shall come in his glory and all the Holy Angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory.
We know the throne of his glory is in the Temple on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. When Christ comes back in all of his glory, that’s the second coming, not the rapture. When Christ comes at the rapture, no one sees it, and the angels don’t come with him. He comes by himself according to 1 Thessalonians 4-16. But here he comes with all of his glory, and with all of his angels, and then he will sit, and that’s when he will be here on the earth for a thousand years as the king of kings and the Lord of lords.
And right at the very beginning of that millennial kingdom, he will gather all the nations before him. The angels are sent out according to Matthew 13 and also Matthew 24, and they will assist. They’ll gather up all the unsaved. Those are called the goats, and they’ll be placed on his left hand. And all the sheep, which are the believers, will be placed on his right hand. And here they’ll be separated, the sheep from the goats. And he will say to the sheep on his right hand, then shall the king, verse 34, say unto those on his right hand, come ye blessed of my Father, and here at the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the earth.
These are the saved. Then in verse 41, he says to the goats on his left hand, depart from a cursed and the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels. So here the goats are the lost the sheep are the saved and of course the question usually arises what about these deeds that are mentioned here and then we find as Christ is addressing the sheep he says I was hungry and you gave me meat I was thirsty and you gave me drink I was a stranger and you took me in naked you You clothed me, I was sick.
You visited me, I was in prison, and you came unto me. Verse 37 says, then shall the righteous. That’s a very key word. The righteous. In Romans 3, 10, it says, as it is written, there is none righteous, no not one. So according to the Bible, there’s nobody righteous, not one person righteous. Jesus said it over in Matthew chapter 19. He says there’s none that is good, but one and that is God. So every one of us are sinners, we’ve all come short of the glory of God, but yet there are those who are called righteous and how can that be?
Well, that’s because Jesus Christ substituted himself in our place and at the cross of Calvary, he paid our sin debt in full so that this exchange that it took place that took place at the cross of Calvary is where God placed our sins upon Christ and Christ became sin for us so that we might be made the very righteousness of God in him. So the believer has an imputed righteousness which God imputes righteousness to the account of the believer and so the believers are considered righteous.
These are obviously righteous because they have believed on Christ and that’s why they are the sheep and why the goats are not the sheep because the goats did not trust Christ as Savior and they’re described as the unrighteous. Again, if you can help us financially, we are totally listeners supported. We don’t have any other means of support and we would appreciate hearing from you in that way because we have no other way to be able to stay on the air, so to continue and to grow and to reach forward, we need your help.
So please, please consider giving a gift to Bible and certainly we thank you for praying for us. If you would do that, we’d be very happy. Anyway, we are going to go back to the stations that have been on break and do the second half hour Bible and so here we go. We’re going to do Bible and the second half hour right now. Would you like to help Bibleline continue in your area? You can! Just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3771.
That’s 1-800-576-3771. And now back to Bibleline. Welcome back from the break. We hope that you’re learning with us as you listen to Bibleline and hear real-life questions with scriptural answers from Dr. Hank Lindstrom. Please make plans to join us and open your Bible as we also present in-depth studies covering a variety of biblical topics. Now let’s return to our question and answer segment and then we’ll hear more Bible teaching from Dr. Hank Lindstrom. We have Mary in Cooper City, Florida.
Mary, welcome to Bibleline. Good morning, Dr. Lindstrom. How are you? How is this fine? Thank you. I have a question. I wanted to know what is the significance of planting a life tree in Israel, tree of life? Well, it is something that Jewish people do. And obviously, when Israel came back to the land, the land was pretty much denuded of trees. The Muslim people didn’t see a tree of any value unless it produced fruit. So all non-fruit-bearing trees were pretty much cut down.
And the hills were barren and desolate and waste. Ezekiel prophesies that in the last days, these hills would be forested, and Israel has been planting forest ever since. And in order to facilitate that, they’ll often plant a tree in memory of someone. I know that when my son died, several of my Jewish friends in Israel planted trees in memory of my son. So I think he’s got about five or more trees that are planted in his memory in Israel, which I think is a wonderful gesture, it’s a nice thought.
I think they sent me a thing where I could actually go and locate where those trees are planted. But they have many many forests in Israel now that have started to be planted. Some of them when they became a nation in 1948. And so many of the mountains now are covered with trees and it’s a beautiful thing to see because when the Jewish state was founded, there were almost no trees. It’s just almost like when they do a new subdivision.
They’d mow all the trees down and all you have is the barren land where as it was so beautiful with all the trees and greenery, basically the whole land was like that when the Jewish people went back to the land. So it has no eternal significance except it’s a nice gesture to give a memory that the tree lives on and is a living reminder of the person that you love that has deceased. But also it’s a way of getting trees planted in Israel and it’s been successful.
Thank you very much. You’re very welcome and thank you. Very definitely the Jewish people welcome anyone who would like to have a tree planted in Israel. I think for just a small donation, the money would go to pay to have a tree planted in your name and I think they’ll give you a certificate and everything else signifying you’ve done that. I think it’s wonderful. You know, we in this world of ours are cutting down our rain forest and our trees and in the Middle East, much of it is barren and desolate, but Israel has begun to blossom and bud just like the Prophet Ezekiel had spoken of in Isaiah.
It’s exciting to see the trees in the forest that are now in Israel, which for a long time, for a couple of thousand years have just been gone. We have Flora down in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Flora, welcome to Bibleline You’re on the earth uh… yes i have a question uh… like some people said uh… you know what name you be baptized in his is uh… elected some safety be baptized in the name of the father the son and the whole ago that that’s not right you got to be baptized in the name of jesus going to the spiritual arm and act two thirty eight right i think you know i think that’s just a lot of heat over nothing and and i don’t think that’s the real issue there The fact is that Jesus died for you and you’re cleansed by his blood and water baptism is a
testimonial that you’ve been washed of your sin by the blood of Christ. The water doesn’t take away your sin. And even in Matthew 28 where it says, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, you’ll notice the word name there is singular. You’ll find that the Father is Jehovah or Yahweh and Jesus is Jehovah or Yahweh and the Holy Spirit is Jehovah or Yahweh. And And whether you say in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, or in the name of Jesus, it doesn’t really matter.
It’s the same thing. Yeah, it doesn’t matter. Uh-huh. So I wouldn’t lose any sleep over that one. The devil likes to get us to argue over things that really don’t amount to much. That’s, I think, an argument that just isn’t worth… You know the Bible talks about not getting involved in discussions over things that aren’t trivial. And I think that’s a trivial thing in my estimation. We are a major and a major and a minor and let’s focus on the fact that we’re cleansed by the blood of Christ and that we need to be baptized as a visible testimonial testimony of how that we’re cleansed, the water is symbolic and that Jesus is the one who did it.
and whether we appeal to the whole Godhead or just mention the name of Jesus it wouldn’t matter. Thank you. You’re very welcome, Flora. Thanks for calling in from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. We have Monique in Plant City, Florida, and Monique, welcome to Bibleline. Yes. I’ve got a question about speaking in tongues. Is that done away with? I believe it is done away with. What is done today is called tongues, but it’s a gibberish. The real gift of tongues was the Greek word in Acts is the word dialectos.
It means a specific dialect of a specific language. I don’t see anybody doing that today, Monique, and so I believe it’s gone. First Corinthians, 13, 8 says tongues would cease when the New Testament record was finished and we believe that it did. Okay, could you give me an asker again? First Corinthians 13 verses 8 through 10. And it says there that tongues would come to another halt. They would cease when that would just perfect just come, which we believe is the New Testament record.
Okay. I will have another question. I was a member of a church and they caught, they would take you into a room and they would coach you to pray. and then you know you would pray and I really believe that I started speaking in tongues. Well you had an experience but that was not the real gift of tongues. Basically you know if it’s a gift why does somebody have to coach you? In other words a gift is super naturally given and you don’t need any coaching and I’ve seen exactly what you’ve seen and I’ve seen in some circumstances they put a marble in your mouth or something else that causes your speech to be slurred.
A friend of mine said that they grabbed his throat and kind of just jiggled it while he spoke and others do other things to kind of get this gibberish sound. But that’s not the real gift. The real gift was to evangelize. You don’t speak in a gibberish. First Corinthians 14-9 says, except speaking about tongues, except you speak by the tongue words easy to be understood. Words easy to be understood. How shall it be known when it’s spoken? You speak into the air.
The gibberish is speaking into the air. The real gift was to speak words easily understood by the here in the language that they understood and that’s not being done today Okay, what is there any other spiritual the back that up? You know I have we have a wonderful book by Merle Unger the author of the Unger Bible Dictionary called New Testament teaching on tongues and You can order that through our resource center that just gives you all of them and very definitely shows the New Testament record is Quite clear that tongues has feasts You might want to get that.
But basically 1 Corinthians 12-14 and Acts 2 are the main principal passages in the New Testament. Okay Monique, but you can go right under the number. You might want to order that book and it’s powerful. It will settle it forever for you. Or get my CD on tongues or I have a DVD where I just show all the verses and go through all these passages with you on DVD or you know your video so you can might want to consider something like that.
Okay, thank you. Thank you. Bye bye. Tongues have ceased and what interests me is that all those who claim they have the gift tongues send their missionaries to language school to learn the language of the country they’re going to. Why do they have to do that if they have the gift of tongues? That doesn’t make any sense at all. Al, welcome to Bibleline. First of all, I’d like to thank you for bringing the truth to us daily like you do and enjoy your program immensely.
I’m an old-timer. You were talking to a Jewish man, a friend of yours, about a few days ago. I don’t know exactly how long. But anyway, it reminded me of the time that I was in the church and it was the felt that you wanted to stand up and tell something good out of the Bible. And so what it is, I got Romans 2, 28, who is one who belongs to God in heart. A man who circumcision is not just an outward physical affair, but a God made sign upon the heart and soul and results in a life not for the approval of a man but for the approval of God.
Well… You’re right. The believer is, well, we sometimes call them a completed Jew because God intended for everybody to become saved, Jew or Gentile. And when a Jewish person puts their trust in Christ, then of course they are circumcised in the heart. The Bible says it’s an expression for the new birth. They become born again. And the same is true for the Gentile. When we are born again, then we become God’s child and God becomes our Father. A Jew just by birth or by birth.
by lineage from Abraham through the family tree is not saved. They need to know Christ and become that Jew that’s born again or circumcised in the heart. Yes. Well absolutely right. You’re so true and and we’re praying for Harold down in South Florida who is the Jewish atheist I think you’re talking about. Yeah. That Harold would trust Jesus as Savior. Maybe he’ll call in today. Yeah, maybe he will. I hope so. He usually calls on Thursday. So I just want one little thought I had is that when I did that I got up and read that, you know, in church, there was a man there.
I can’t. I don’t remember him and I don’t remember. I think he could have been a Jew. And he says, would you? He stood up to and says, I don’t want you to please read that again. I don’t know if that was going on. And in him, maybe to straighten his life out. In that wonderful lesson, a very wonderful passage in Romans 2. I’ll keep listing that in the Northport, okay? Sure. And then I’ll get Eleanor to listen to.
That’s my wife. Okay, Eleanor. For 60 years this month, we’ve been ages 60 years now. Married 60 years. Congratulations. Okay. That’s wonderful. That’s quite an achievement. Nowadays we don’t see marriages lasting 60 years anymore. That wraps up today’s question and answer segment. As believers in Jesus, there is no other topic that is more important to us than the gospel of Jesus Christ, and it was Dr. Hank Lindstrom’s mission to spread the gospel. You know, can you imagine a person writing a book and didn’t understand the thing that he wrote yet as one of the greatest books in all the world?
Has to be that God is the author, right? And look at what God says in verse 9. He says, Daniel, go your way. The words are closed up and sealed to the time of the end. Wow. Today this book has great significance. And the book of Revelation now helps us unfold and unlock many of the truths that are in it. So if you are now with us in the second half of the book of Revelation, you’re going to see how that we will learn and discover meanings that we did not know prior to the book of Revelation coming along.
Look, if you will, it now in Revelation 10 verse 11, and he said unto me, Thou must prophesy what? Again, before many peoples and nations and tongues and kings. So basically, as we’ve seen, this has been the kind of the plan in Revelation. We sweep the tribulation, we come back, we sweep it again, and we look at what’s happening in heaven, and we look at what’s happening on the earth as the way is prepared for Jesus’ Christ to come back and rule and reign on the planet earth.
Now Christ is saying now that you have the open book, Daniel now opened, not sealed any longer. You’re going to go back and go over it again. And this time more information will be added and we’ll be able to understand what Daniel wrote about the end times. Chapter 11, there was given unto me a read like into a rod and the angel stood and said, rise, measure the temple of God. Can’t be done right now. There is no temple in Israel, but a third temple will be built right after the rapture during the tribulation.
So once this arrow up here going up, takes us out of the rapture, a temple will be rebuilt in Jerusalem, and obviously it’s in the news. Gershaun Solomon, who may be the man who will build it, and he’s the head of the temple, Mount Faithful. They’ve been preparing the stones now for years and years. The garments for the priesthood and making ready for temple to be rebuilt. When the political situation allows for it to be built, they’ll start erecting it.
He’s an Orthodox Jew, he doesn’t believe Christ has been here yet. Therefore he’s unsaved, he’ll be left behind at the Rapture, but he might be the very man who’ll do it, the very man who might after the Rapture build the temple that the Bible here talks about in the book of Revelation. Incredible, isn’t it? So it says here, he’s the measure of the temple of God and the altar and them that worship therein. So there will be temple worship, the temple will be rebuilt, and I believe verse 1 is a picture of what happens in the first 3 and a half years of the tribulation.
Verse 2 is a summary of what happens in the second half of the tribulation. So this is a brief outline for you. In the margin, right, first half of tribulation, next to verse 1, second half of tribulation, next to verse 2. Verse 2 says, the court that is without the temple leave out, measure it not for it is given unto what? The Gentiles and the holy city, that’s not Rome, it’s Jerusalem, shall they tread under foot 40 and two months.
How long is that? Three and a half years the last three and a half years Gentile powers will overrun Jerusalem and the temple mount We know that in the middle of the tribulation period the Antichrist will stop the sacrifices that will have been resumed dead center in the middle Daniel 9 27 sends in the midst of the seven years you’ve caused the sacrifices that will have been resumed to stop He’s going to desecrate the temple and the Antichrist ruler from the West with his multi national force will trod down Jerusalem for the last three and a half years.
The Bible here is telling us what will happen. Not only is the West moving in to take over the Middle East right now, but they will wind up taking over all of what was ancient Assyria, including the country of Israel. The military of Israel will be taken over and Gentiles will overrun Jerusalem and the Temple Mount for the last 42 months of the seven years of tribulation. Now in Verse 3, we’re now going to go back to the beginning of the tribulation period and it will fill in the spaces of what will happen when the temple is rebuilt at the beginning of the tribulation.
Verse 3, I will give power unto my two witnesses. These I believe are two men that come back from the Old Testament, two Old Testament prophets, but there’s all kinds of spins put on this chapter and on the book of Revelation. So you have to be careful that you interpret the Bible in the light of the Bible itself. A recent book somebody handed me said the two witnesses were the two towers that were destroyed in 9-11. A lot of stuff out there that’s really nonsense.
But by the way, did you know that the Madrid bombings happened exactly 9-11 days after 9-11? Is that by coincidence? A lot of people are saying they don’t do anything by coincidence. But 9-11 days after 9-11, the bombings went off in Madrid that killed those innocent people. We’re living in a time when violence is being able to cover the face of the earth. And Jesus said it would be again as it was in days of Noah. If you read Genesis 6 and 11, it says the earth was filled with violence.
And I think we see it, don’t we? A lot of things are happening that I think point to things that will really be manifest after the rapture. I think we’re getting close to the Lord taking us out. All right, so we have two witnesses. They’ll prophesy how long? A thousand, two hundred and three score days. That’s exactly three and a half years. exactly 42 months. And it says in verse 4, these are two that are mentioned by Zechariah the prophet.
They are the two olive trees and two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth. We don’t have time to go to Zechariah, but Zechariah talks about these two witnesses and describes them as two olive trees and two candlesticks standing before Jesus, who is the God of this world who is coming back at the second coming at the end of the tribulation. Verse 5 will have supernatural powers. If any man will hurt them, I take this to be very literal, fire will proceed out of their mouth and devour their enemies.
And if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed. They’ll be pretty much invincible. Can you imagine? Anybody tries to hurt one of these two prophets? Fire just comes right out of their mouth and devours their enemies. I believe that is going to be literal and they’ll be pretty much invincible for the time of their ministry. Verse 6, they’ll have the power to shut up heaven that it rained not in the days of their prophecy.
Stop. What prophet did that in the Old Testament? It was Elijah. Elijah preached during the wicked days of ahab and his wicked wife Jezebel, and he prayed that it didn’t rain. How long did it not rain during the prophecies of Elijah? Well, turn a few more pages to the book of James. This will be if you have the Schofield Bible, Chapter 5, page 1310. James 1 and 2 Peter, 1 and 2 John, Jude, Revelation. Backing up, Revelation, Jude, 3 John, 2 John, 1 John, 2 Peter, 1 Peter, James.
There you got it. If you’re going the other way, it’s Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, Joshua, Judges, Ruth, keep going, keep going, you’ll eventually get the James. All right. James 5 page 1310, verse 17, Elias. Where are you? Elias Orlyjo was a man subject to like passions as we are. He’s a human being. And he prayed earnestly, verse 17 of James 5, that it might not rain. And it rained not on the earth by the space of how long?
Three years and what? Six months. That is exactly the length of time that he will minister again. And it will be that first half of the seven years tribulation period, three and a half years. So when Elijah comes back, apparently he will again pray and it will not rain on the earth for three and a half years during his time. Look at, if you will, back in Revelation chapter 11 verse 6, it says, and they’ll have power over the waters to turn them to blood and this might be the earth with all the plagues as often as they will.
What prophet did that? Moses. So I believe these two men are Moses and Elijah. They’re identified here by the things that they did in in the Old Testament, they’ll come back. Moses and Elijah will come back. The amount of transfiguration in Matthew 17, we have Christ transfigured. We get to see him as he will be in a second coming. Who’s standing with Christ on the amount of transfiguration? Moses and Elijah. We could go through more prophecies or more verses, but Moses and Elijah, turn out to be these two men who will come back.
Remember, the tribulation period are really the last seven years of the Old Testament, they still have to tick off the clock. Daniel is in incredible prophecy in chapter 9, so when Christ was rejected and went to the cross, God’s clock stopped ticking. And for 2,000 years, God has turned to the Gentiles and the clock has been on hold And the last seven years will tick off the clock and it will be back on Jewish territory. The Jews will be the center theme.
Look at the focus going to the Middle East and to Jerusalem and to the Temple Mount. Look at the fact that Israel is in the center of all the controversy over their Middle East. These are obviously righteous because they have believed on Christ and that’s why they are the sheep and why the goats are not the sheep because the goats did not trust Christ as Savior and they’re described as the unrighteous. it says here. That the righteous answered and they said Lord Lord when did we see you hungry and fed thee and thirsty and gave you drinking when?
Say saw we as you as a stranger and took you in and naked and clove thee and and when did we see you sick and Visit you in prison and come unto thee and so on and the king shall say unto them barely I said you in as much as You have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren you have done it unto me There is a third group here that usually gets ignored when people talk about this passage and that is these that are called the brethren of Christ.
We believe that this is the tribulation period after the Rapture and during that seven years there will be 144,000 Jewish men that will do the evangelism during the tribulation period. all men and these are Christ’s brethren as Jesus Christ is God who took on Jewish flesh. And so these that are related to Christ in the flesh, these 144,000 Jewish men will become martyred for their faith in Christ, but they will be obviously imprisoned and they’ll be obviously having a difficult time making it.
They’ll be naked and clothing and they’ll be hungry and they’ll need to be fed. And guess who takes care of them? Well these that are righteous or these that are saved, they get saved during the tribulation period and they get saved through the evangelism of these 144,000. So obviously they have compassion on these that have brought the gospel to them and so So they visit them and feed them and they clothe them and they care for them. And so they treat them well.
Whereas they lost the sheep have no compassion upon the hundred and four hundred thousand, but are probably just as glad that they’re gone, that they are imprisoned or that they die and so on and become martyred. And so the works that they do are not works to save them, which is obviously plain in the Bible because works cannot save us and our deeds are not able to bring us righteousness. Our best righteous deeds according to Isaiah 64, 6 are filthy rags.
So obviously here these are sheep, these are the righteous, these are the believers that are grateful to the Jewish brothers in a sense of Christ who are evangelizing and brought the gospel to them so they can be saved. And so that’s why they care for them. But they are not saved because they do that. They do it because they naturally do that. And notice they weren’t even aware that they were doing it. They said, when did this happen? When did we feed thee and so on?
And he says, in as much as you’ve done it under these, the least of my brethren, you have done it under me. So Christ is talking about that. And so this This is the judgment of the nations and what happens here. All unbelievers are cast into the lake of fire. They are destroyed and the believers alone are then invited to come into the kingdom, the thousand year reign of Christ. And so the thousand years begins with all believers. All unbelievers, the goats are cast in the hell.
For the goats to become sheep, they have to have a new birth. They have to become born again. They have to trust Jesus as their Savior, and obviously they don’t. And anybody who lives through the tribulation period and has not trusted Christ will not survive. They will all be slain by Christ and they’ll be cast into the everlasting lake of fire, and only believers will enter into the morning. God bless, keep looking up. Jesus is coming, and we believe He’s coming soon.
