God bless you. Well, good morning and welcome to Bibleline great to be with you today. Thanks for tuning into the broadcast. We look forward to being with you each and every day, Monday through Friday. As we come to you live from Tampa, Florida from our studios right here at the Calvary Community Church where I’m the pastor. Thanks for tuning in today. We are excited about being able to be with you and hopefully you’ll enjoy this hour and of course the rest of the week.
We’re excited about being able to bring Bible and to you. By the way, we’re streaming right now to the internet. If you have internet access, you could catch this program live right now, and you can catch it later in the day and tomorrow and the day after that and next week and a month from now. And I think over a year from now, you can listen to past Bible and programs all there in archive. And you can download them in the MP3 format for your iPod.
We have podcasting and all these things are free. Take a look at our website, Bibleline Ministries.org. We have a wonderful resource center and you know, when a lot of people go to the Christian bookstore, they believe they’re in a safe zone. That everything in the store is okay to buy or read. That is not true. I would venture to say that most of everything that’s in most Christian bookstores is not safe to read. And even Paul tells us in the New Testament as he writes to Timothy, Timothy, be careful what you read.
That was even back then before these modern publishers and so many things were being published. You really have to be careful what you’re reading. The one book you can trust, of course, is the Word of God. And even now with some of the new translations, you have to be careful even then because some of the new translations are the leading verses, adding verses, changing the text, changing the meaning. Some of them more than others, but it’s kind of scary because sometimes people will come to me and say, this is what the Bible says and it’s the opposite of what you’re saying.
I say, what translation are you using? And sure enough, it’s one of those new ones like the NIV, which oftentimes changes the total meaning of the text and gives you a wrong meaning. Plus it drops 44 verses in their entirety. 44 verses are just gone if you have the NIV Bible. I don’t think I’d want a Bible like that, but a lot of people find it very popular and I think they are just not aware of the fact that they’re deleting the verses.
And guess what? You might as well buy a Jehovah’s Witness Bible because the Jehovah’s Witness Bible drops the same 44 verses. Even the name of the Jehovah’s Witness Bible is similar to the name of the NIV. New international version. The Jehovah’s Witness Bible is called the New World Translation. New for New, that’s the same. International and world, they’re the same. Version and translation, that’s the same. Wow. It seems like they got together because the Bibles both attacked the doctrine of hell.
The deity of Christ, salvation by faith. It’s amazing. And you really need to be on guard nowadays. We have a wonderful book in our Resource Center called New Age Bible Versions, which covers about 20 of the most popular new versions. And it’s about 800 pages which will just curl the skin on your arm as you read what is happening today in our modern translations. We have the old Schofield Reference Bible here in our Resource Center. That’s the one I recommend.
the King James Bible with the notes by Dr. Schofield. All the problems I’ve really been dealt with and are answered in the notes in the Schofield. And in the Schofield, the notes are also geared to doctrine which helps you stay doctrinally sound in a time when doctrinal unsoundness seems to be the rage of the day. We also have books that I believe you can trust because these are books that I would recommend. I’ve bought thousands of books during my Christian experience, and most of them are not worth the paper they’re printed on.
I hate to see you waste your money as I have. And so we recommend the books and our resource study. You can get a list if you’d like. Call and ask for it to be sent to you in the mail. We’ll do that pre-charge. You can also go online to our website, BibleLineMinistries.org. Click on the online bookstore, and you’ll find them there. We have some very inexpensive things. We have some for seven dollars like knowing God’s will made easier.
Bible teachings made easy. Bible study made easy. Bible prophecy made easy. The Bible made easy. We have the Bible promise book, a thousand promises in the King James Version for five dollars, a thousand promises. We have one on Islam that’s absolutely incredible. The facts on Islam, about 80 pages and it’s for seven dollars. and it shows the contradictions in the Quran. If you’re trying to lead someone to Christ of the Islamic faith, this will give you the ammunition and the questions to ask and how you might present it to them.
We also have one called the facts on the Messianic Lodge and the masons in their belief system exposed for $7. Those are great buys. Plus, we have so many of my teachings. We just finished first and second Peter. Those are great, especially for this time in which we live. We’re right now in the last days. Christ is coming back. Second Peter, we just finished that book, said that in the last days, scoffers would come, and they would mock the teaching about the second coming.
Boy, do we see that today. Tells us what to expect, how to handle these days as a Christian, How to stand tall, how to present Christ to someone else, and how to recognize that what you have in your hand, if you have a Bible there, you have something most incredible. It is the Word of God given by inspiration of God written by men through the direction, the superintendent of the Holy Spirit as he guided and directed the writing of the Bible.
He’s super intended the writing of Scripture and he’s really the author. Well, we’re going to get into the Bible for a few minutes here and I hope you have your Bible handy. And I want to talk about, again, terms that are being used today that really are not the gospel and so many people use phrases. And I don’t think they’re thinking and they’re copying preachers who use those same phrases and they might be popular and might be used everywhere, but they’re not correct.
For example, give your heart to Jesus Christ. Well that is really not scriptural. That is really wrong. There’s nothing right about it. And you might say, well, why give your heart? Maybe your kidney or your lungs or your thyroid or your pancreas or some other body organ. This is really not making any sense at all. If you read what the Scripture says, let me go to John 1, 12. The Bible says the opposite is true for salvation. It says to as many as received Him.
That’s Jesus Christ. Salvation is not giving anything to God, but salvation is receiving the one that God provided for your sins and mind Jesus Christ. It says to them, God gave. So God is the giver and He gives the authority for you to become born again, to become a child of God, and then it says to those that believe or trust on the name of the Son of gun. In other words, think about it. If you read John 1, 12, it tells us that God is the giver.
We’re the receivers. Now, if you tell somebody they have to give their life or give their heart to God to be saved, that’s 180 degrees out of phase. That is the exact opposite of what the Bible teaches and that makes you the giver and God the receiver. Whereas in God’s Christ of salvation, God is the giver and we’re the receivers. Think about it everywhere you look. God is the Giver for God so loved the world. Have you heard that verse John 3 16 for God so loved the world that what he gave his only begotten son.
You cannot find this violated in the Bible at all and yet how many preachers are they thinking? Maybe it’s my background. I graduated in electrical engineering from the University of Florida in Gainesville Florida went through the a five-year engineering program and you know, A plus B had equal C for me. And when I hear people say things that are absolutely the opposite of what the Bible teaches, it just greats on me. And I say, how can they do that?
They must not be thinking. They must not be thinking at all. Again, God is the giver in the Bible. Romans 6, 23 says, the gift of If God is eternal life, God is the giver. He offers salvation as a gift. Ephesians 2-8, Salvation is the gift of God. And we can go on and on and on. Wherever you look, you’ll never find it violated. Salvation is a gift. God is the giver. We’re the receivers. We receive it by faith or by trusting Christ as our Savior.
And yet when you say, give your heart to Jesus, you’re making yourself the giver. What is the receiver? It’s the exact opposite and it’s wrong. You could give God your heart and you would not be saved. You could give Him your liver, your pancreas, your thyroid, your adenoids, your tonsils, whatever you want to give Him. I’m saying all that just to make a point here that God doesn’t need anything that you have. He doesn’t need any of your body parts.
If you think about it for a minute with all the pastors that say, give your heart to Christ. I would imagine in my sanctified imagination that if I entered heaven, I would see great big barrels or vats full of hearts where thousands of people just fill these vats up with their hearts and gave their hearts to Jesus. Can you imagine? And what if they’ve been asked to give their pancreas, all these big vats full of pancreas is in heaven and so on.
I mean, what I’m just saying is this is ridiculous. This is absolutely crazy. It doesn’t make any sense. It’s not mid-bookly supported. is absolutely wrong, we don’t give anything to God to be saved. God is the giver. We’re the receivers. Let me go back to John 1 12. It says to as many as received Him Christ to them God gave the authority, the power for you to become born again to them that believe or trust on His name. The way we receive Christ is reaching out in the hand of faith and trusting that Jesus Christ is indeed God who took on flesh and died to pay for our sins.
The other one involving the so-called heart is asking Jesus into your heart. This doesn’t make any sense. I just heard the story this morning. Little boy was watching television with his grandfather and they were watching a heart transplant operation on television. Little boy is pretty bright. When they got all done, they said, the little boy said to his grandfather, Granddad, does that mean that if this person had invited Jesus into his heart that he would have to do it all over again now because he’s been given a new heart?
You know, children are so literal. And then others have said, won’t he get blood all over him? Other children have said, what chamber will he live in? Chamber number one, Chamber number two, Chamber number three, Chamber number four. Oh my goodness, you know children take you literally. And obviously there’s not one verse in the Bible that says, Invite Jesus into your heart. Now when you trust Christ, God does come and dwell your body, but there’s no verse that tells you that you’re saved by inviting him to come into your body or to come into your heart.
People say what about Revelation 3 20? Behold I stand at the door knock If any man hear my voice and open the door well guess what that’s not talking about the door of your heart or the door of your life Read the context it begins in Revelation 3 verse 14. It’s talking about the church at Laodicea and Jesus speaks to that particular church Which was leaving Jesus out of their daily life and fellowship. And he said, I’m standing at the door of your church.
I’m knocking. If you will hear my voice and open your church door. I’ll come in to your church and sup with you. That means have supper. And that’s due with fellowship. It’s not even a salvation verse. He’s addressing this letter to the people that were saved who had left Jesus out of their Christian life. Christian life, and even though they were attending church, they were leaving Jesus outside the church door. And Jesus is knocking on the church door. To make that out, that He’s standing at the door of your heart, which there is no door on your heart.
Kids are smarter than adults. They say there’s no door on our heart. They’ve learned biology very early. Amazingly adults buy this stuff, propagate this stuff, mislead little children. The Bible warns about misleading little children. And they wind up believing this. And guess what? You can invite Jesus into your heart every day of your life and still go to hell. You don’t mean it. Yes, I do mean it. I was a victim of that. I was raised in a church that taught that and I did it every Sunday.
As I recall, I was never absent because I had to be deathly ill to miss church, probably from the time I was six till I was eighteen, I invited every Sunday Jesus to come into my heart. That, if you compute it, is twelve years, at least a minimum of fifty times a year, at six hundred times I invited Jesus into my heart and I was never saved. I didn’t get saved until I was eighteen and I learned that I had the trust that Jesus died and shed his blood and paid my sin didn’t full at the cross and when I trusted him as my Savior, God would save me.
I could have gone to hell still asking Jesus in my heart every day of my life and on the last day of my life. Jesus came into my heart. Guess what? Wrong answer. Jesus says that we must believe the gospel and the gospel is the death burial and resurrection message of Christ, you have to trust that Jesus died, was buried, and came back from the dead, and when you trust Christ as your Savior, God saves you. I’m pleading for souls, and I’m telling you, Satan has done a great job of getting preachers and lay people alike using phrases that will not lead anyone to Christ, but will lead them to help.
Because if they’re trusting in inviting Jesus into their heart to go to heaven, they’ll not be saved. Because the way you’re saved is Acts 1631, believe or trust on the Lord Jesus Christ and I’ll certainly be saved. Have you done that? Would you just right now do it if you haven’t? Just say, Lord, I am a sinner. We all are. That’s just being honest. But God right here and now wherever I might be. I put my trust in Jesus Christ as the one who died, paid for my sin debt by his death and shed blood, was buried and rose again from the dead.
I trust Jesus right now to save me, to be my Savior, to forgive my sins, to give me the gift of eternal life. The moment you do, God of heaven knows, and He saves you. We’re going to go to the phone lines. I’m Dr. Ang Lindst from the phone numbers 1-800-576-3771. And we’d love to hear from you. We have Tom in Richmond, Virginia. And Tom, welcome to Bibleline Year on the Air. Good morning, Hank. Hey, it’s kind of funny that you started off talking about being careful about what people read.
I haven’t heard recently on your talk about the book, the new fiction book. I’m not a Christian Bull, can I know your stance on fiction? And I agree with it, it’s not to get mixed up in fiction with truth. But the book The Shack, it’s really making its rounds in Christian circles and it’s really got a lot of otherwise discerning Christians I think really deceived. You know, I haven’t really paid attention to this book. I’m not familiar with what it’s about.
But I think all Christian fiction can be dangerous. I have a rule and I adopted it right from the get-go when I became saved many years ago at 18. I said, I’m not going to read any Christian fiction. Why? Because I don’t want to get mixed up my mind between what truth is, what the Bible teaches, and what I read in Christian fiction. So I just don’t read it at all. And I think perhaps it’s a good rule. But you know, in 2 Timothy chapter 4, it tells us that the time would come and it’s here right now when men or people would not endure sound doctrine.
But after their own lust they would heap to themselves teachers having itchy ears. They’d want to have their ears tickled and they would turn away their ears from the truth. That’s the Bible and be turned on to fiction. It’s a horrible book and it’s picking up steam really fast and it’s amazing that people are reading this and they’re thinking these are pictures of Christ and pictures of Christianity in there. You know, you’re you’re living this stuff. Maybe they could call in and comment on this.
Well, thanks for learning me. I didn’t know about it and I’m gonna find out about it because it’s scary that people it’s a shame but people are too often read. more books about the Bible and never read the Bible itself. I agree. It’s a couple of things, though. I’ll just alert you on it. He portrays God as a black woman. He’s a great man and he portrays the Holy Spirit as an Oriental woman. The races don’t have a really play into that, but God is a woman, that’s not what the Bible teaches.
It’s so popular, we’re talking about making it into a movie and one of the people that this author wants to play this part of the father, which he calls Papa, would be Oprah Winfrey. To me, that’s a tip off. If you can’t see Oprah Winfrey, it’s not a… she’s not you know she’s very anti-christian you know and you want her to play the lead in this this movie it’s kind of ridiculous that is crazy because like over in three believes that there are many ways to happen and that Christ is not the way the truth to life and the only exclusive way to get to God.
You can choose many, many, many, many different ways and that’s our religious field today. Wow, well thank you for letting us know, Tom. Alright, Tom in Richmond, Virginia about a new book, a fiction book called The Shack that presents God as a woman. We have Nathaniel, and Nathaniel is in Belgrade, Florida, and Nathaniel, welcome to my blind year on the air. Nathaniel, where are you? Yes, sir. You’re on the air. Get through, hi, Dr. Hank. Go ahead. I want to know is Gee, the class is the founder of the Catholic Church.
It is a Pope, as he is a Paul, not Paul, but his peaches are first Pope of the Catholic Church. Okay. Okay, the answer is, no, Jesus Christ did not found the Catholic Church. The church that Jesus Christ said He would be building is not a building, it’s not a denomination, it’s not an organization, it is a living body of believers comprised of everyone who would get saved from Pentecost until the Rapture. And so there is no church denomination that can claim legitimately that they are the Church of Christ.
Now individual believers worldwide that have trusted Jesus Christ alone. are only means of salvation, are members of the true church. You cannot join the true church. You are placed into the true church by God the Holy Spirit at the moment of belief. The Bible tells us in 1 Corinthians 12-13, by one Spirit, are we all baptized into one body? That body is the body of Christ. Whether you are a Gentile, whether you are bond or free, and we have all been made to drink into one spirit.
Verse 27 of 1 Corinthians 12 says, now right now right at the instant you believe in forever thereafter you are the body of Christ so the body of Christ is comprised of every believer worldwide from pentecostal rapture that trust crisis or savior and no peter was not the first pope and and obviously all you have to do is read what peter says and you’ll see that he does not claim that he claims that he is one of many little stones that are built upon the foundation stone, which is Jesus Christ Himself.
Read 1 Peter 2. He explains that all of us have Christ as our foundation, that He is the rock, the precious stone that we are built upon, and we are all just little living stones that we are born again and are built on that foundation and are the body of Christ. And there is no denomination on the earth that can claim they are the Church of Christ. Hope that helps, Nathaniel, and thank you for that call. We are now going to go to an anonymous caller in Palm Harbor for it, and we want to welcome the program here.
Good morning. My question is recently I’ve heard a pastor speak about dispensationalism being a lie from the pit of hell. Could you explain that a bit to me or what that means? Well it means obviously he doesn’t want to accept the Bible as being the inspired word of God. If you read Ephesians chapter 3 verse 2, Paul talks about have you readbern or are you familiar with the dispensation of the grace of God, which I delivered unto you. So obviously Paul taught dispensationalism and he said that we’re presently living in the dispensation of grace.
Then he talks about the dispensation that will follow this one in Ephesians 1, 11, 1, 10, and 11. He says there is going to be the dispensation of the fullness of times. That is the millennium when the times have come to the place where Jesus returns and the The heavens will rule over the earth and there will be a thousand years of peace on the earth called the dispensation of the fullness of times. The dispensation preceding this one is the dispensation of law clearly, an age that began at Mount Sinai and will conclude at the end of the tribulation period when Christ returns to establish the last dispensation.
He’s rejecting the Bible and if you don’t believe the Bible then you’re not going to believe in this sensations. If you believe the Scriptures they’re clearly there. I’m glad to hear that. Well, it’s your explanation on it. I appreciate it. You’re very welcome. We’re coming up on our break time. It goes so fast but we’re going to do another half hour. So I hope you’ll stay tuned to the second half hour Bibleline. We’re in the summer. It’s a lean time.
People are on vacations and many things are happening in our economy. And if you could help Bibleline that would be greatly appreciated. Would you consider calling and giving a gift by credit card over the phone? And we sure would appreciate your prayers if you’d like to give a gift by mail. You can do that. But pray for Bible Island if you could help us to stay on the air that would be greatly appreciated. We’re going to take a break, come right back, and we’ll be back to do a second half hour.
So stay tuned. Dr. Englunds from we’ll be right back. Don’t go away. Bibleline will be back in a moment. Give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Alright, I’m Dr. Englinsford, and it’s great to be with you today. This is Thursday, and we look forward to being with you each and every day. If you have direct TV, did you know that you can watch our television program every Thursday? At 630 Eastern Standard Time, nationwide. Actually everywhere on the North American continent, wherever you might have direct TV, we’re on channel 367-367.
That’s channel 367 on direct TV at 630 every Thursday, Eastern Standard Time. Join us for that television program. By the way, on the internet, you can catch everything we’ve got, including our television programs. Just go to BibleLineMinistries.org and click on the spinning globe and you’ll get radio. Click on the camera, you’ll get our worship services, click on the television set, you’ll get our TV programs, click on the online bookstore, and you’ll get our resource center. And you know, we’d love to have you catching all those things on our internet.
I just got a wonderful letter from a lady up in Pennsylvania. She apparently used to attend my youth meetings, has now grown children, and she said she stumbled on our website. She said that she just leaped out of her chair. I was so excited that now she’s going to be able to hear me preaching again as she heard me as a teenager and got saved many years ago. That’s exciting. We know that more and more people are finding our website, 158 countries have logged on, and you can help us.
Would you tell your friends about the website? Would you tell your friends overseas about the website? Would you tell your missionaries about the website? That would be great. We hope that they will be able to enjoy Bibleline wherever they are in the world. We know that we have people listening and watching Bibleline in 158 countries around the world. Truly, it is the worldwide web. That’s exciting. Again, Bibleline is listening and supported. I hate to talk about money. But, you know, this is God’s plan that we would partner together to accomplish this great task, which is greater than me.
It’s greater than my staff. greater than all of us individually, but together we can pull it off and God loves to glory in using the weak and the base and the things that are not to bring to not those things which are. And so we can. As a collective group, make sure that the Gospel message is getting out clear. The Scriptures are being proclaimed, especially in a day when there is so much confusion and deception. And we know who the author of that is, Satan himself.
And God bless and thank all of you who pray for and give the Bible and you’re making it possible for us to be on the air. We’re going to rejoin the stations that have been on break. We’re going to come right back and do a second half hour of Bibleline. and all you have to do is sit back and enjoy. Here we go. Now here again is Dr. Hank Lindstrom. All right we’re back for that break and this is Bible and I’m Dr.
Hank Lindstrom and we’re coming to you live from Tampa, Florida from our studios right here at the Calvary Community Church where I’m the pastor. We look forward to being with you each and every day Monday through Friday and I sure hope that you’re telling your friends about the program and encouraging them to listen also to Bible and you can go to the internet and catch this program as often as you like. Many tell us that they go in the evening after they’ve had dinner, after they’ve showered, after they’ve had dinner.
They go to their computer and sit down and relax, open their Bible, and listen to Bibleline. And you know, because of on the internet you can back me up and fast forward and you can pause it. You can really do a great time of Bible study with using the Bibleline program. Plus you can catch my sermons on Bible www.tolvision.org by clicking on the camera and you can catch our television programs by clicking on the television set. God bless you.
Thank you for tuning in to the resumed the Bible and program today. And if you could give a gift to help us through these summer months, we could use your money right now to help stay on the air in many areas. You know, we’re spread out all over the place. We don’t pay any salaries. And we, it’s very expensive. really is. And we’re trusting God every day, every month, every week. And you know, miraculously, He’s kept us on the air thus far.
And we trust that He’ll continue to do that because of the generous gifts of you, the listener. And some have been having to cut back in their giving because of the economy. And so we really need to have anybody who can step up to the plate and help us make up for that shortfall and to keep the programs going, we need your help. Would you do that? Would you think about it? Would you pray about it? Would you at least pray for us?
And also would you possibly call in today and give a gift by credit card over the phone? Or you can ask for an envelope to be sent with our address on it. We’ll ship that right out and you can mail a gift in. That would be so appreciated. We’re on the air in West Virginia on an AM-NFM station right outside of Huntington and we reach a large area even bleeding over into Ohio and also catching Charleston, West Virginia. We have a caller right now from Huntington, West Virginia.
We have Harry on the line and Harry, we welcome you to the Bible and program. Thank you for calling in. Thank you. I’ve been listening there. We talked to you about some of the things people have been reading and I didn’t know if a lot of people out there and maybe get your comments on this. Bible have called the New King James Version, how counterfeit the vision is and how misleading it is and the omission and everything that this Bible has in it.
It seems like in our area here that a lot of fundamental churches that used to spend on the Old King James Bible of people who are leading and going that direction with this New King James, where it removes Lord 66 times, removes God 51 times, removes Heaven fifty pounds there’s over twenty thousand and sixty six words it’s been omitted and uh… there’s even a symbol on that thing it’s kind of leading to the to be up all you know a lot of people were aware that uh…
like to hear your comments all this get off the here in the and and and what they’re your comments on that thank you for taking my call thank you harry and hunnington uh… west virginia and i am aware of that we have a a sheet that has those same stats that you just read And yeah, the symbol on the New King James Version is the symbol for the pagan trinity. And it is the same symbol you would see on rock group records like Led Zeppelin and others.
And this is amazing that they could even do this. And the subtle changes, you know, you would have thought the New King James would have been the King James made new, just changing the archaic words to bring it up to speed, but they did it far more than that. And I’m afraid they did a great deal of damage. I would recommend that you stay away from the new. King James Version. You know, in Matthew 7 where it says narrow is the way that leads to the life which is Christ.
The way to heaven is narrow because there’s only one way and Christ is that narrow way and when you simply trust Him you become saved but there’s many other choices and you could choose any religion you want. They’ll all take you to hell. Only Christ will take you to heaven. Well, the new King James puts the word hard in place of the word narrow. That’s a totally different concept. That seems to imply works or salvation, and it’s hard to go to heaven.
It’s not hard. Jesus paid it all, but we simply receive the finished work of Christ at the cross and trust Him and become saved. Here, thank you for that call. Absolutely, we need to watch out for some of the new translations. We have Alex, And Alex is calling in from Palm Harbor, Florida, and Alex, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Yes, to Latter-day Saints, and what do you think of the Book of Mormon? Alright, the Church of Latter-day Saints or the Mormons are a cult.
They denied the basic doctrines of the Bible, held the deity of Christ, salvation by faith, And they really have some very, very strange beliefs. If you read their writings, they actually claim to have migrated here from the planet Colab, K-O-L-A-B. And obviously they believe that they had to come here where they could get bodies for their spirits to develop. So they’re into salvation for the dead. They can, they collect all these genealogies. And then you can go into the temple if you’re a bonafide Mormon, and you can actually perform rituals for your dead relatives.
And if they receive them, they can be saved by your works that you do for them. And they believe in salvation by works. In fact, they believe water baptism is essential for salvation. And so you can go and be baptized for your dead relatives. And if they choose to receive it, they can be saved. And so you’re not only trying to work to save yourself, but the Mormons are working to save those relatives of theirs that didn’t even know about it.
And so it’s crazy. But Mormonism is a cult. They do not believe in the same Jesus that we believe in. And the Book of Mormon is a fairy tale. There’s no reality to it. It talks about cities in North America, and there’s no archaeological evidence for one place that the Book of Mormon talks about. It’s actually believed to be a fictional story that Joseph Smith bought and then converted to the Book of Mormon and it has to do with the history of the US of A and certainly it’s a fictional story but there’s nothing in reality about it at all.
But it also contradicts the The Bible. When you read the book of Jude, it says, we’re to contend for the faith which was once delivered under the saints. And that is the body of truth is contained in the word of God. When somebody new comes along with a revelation that contradicts the Bible, we have to reject the new revelation. We’re to contend for the faith which was once delivered under the saints. Plus there’s the warning in Revelation 22, when somebody adds to the revelation that God has completed.
under God’s curse you are not to add to the Bible nor subtract from the Bible and those who would do that are obviously going to be under God’s curse and the Mormons certainly are. Plus in Galatians chapter 1 it says though we are an angel from heaven preach any other gospel than that which we have preached unto you letting me accursed. Well the gospel of Mormonism is not the same gospel as that in the Bible. So the Bible says they’re a curse and their whole revelation comes from an angel and it says though we are an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you, let him be a curse.
And so the angel Moroni gave the revelation to Joseph Smith and I call it Moroni Baloney. It is absolutely false. You know, I, years ago, I joined the church of Jesus Christ when I did fame and I left the church because I truly… I thought I would be punished because I didn’t believe everything or much of anything they were saying. So I truly left the church because I didn’t know if it was a cult but I just thought that some of this just can’t be true.
And you have to be a member of that church in order to be a member you have to believe everything they’re saying in your heart. And I didn’t. So I chose to just leave the church. Well, you were fortunate that you got out because it’s a false belief system. Unfortunately, many dear people are in it and will be in hell for eternity because they have been misled and we need to pray for them and they can be one to Christ and we need to pray for them that they would see the truth and come into the Lord.
Okay, thank you. You’re very welcome. And the Mormons also have Joseph Smith change the Bible. If you have Mormon Bible, and I have one, the first four verses before Genesis 1-1 talk about Joseph Smith before it talks about in the beginning God. I’ll tell you something right there. And somebody puts their own name in the Bible before God is mentioned as the creator of the universe. That ought to just cause you to just say, this is craziness. This cannot be true.
We’re now going to Miami, Florida, and we’re going to talk to Bert and Bert, welcome to Bible on your own the air. Hey, good morning, Hank. Good morning. That is Noah when he was building New York. If I remember correctly, it was 120 years that it took him to, that he was preaching. That’s right. It’s great. Okay. Now, assume that those people that heard Noah preach and believe him, but died before the blood, those people will be saved. Or there’s a Bible strictly saying that during those 120 years, nobody believed.
Nobody got saved during that whole 20 years. And that’s amazing how wicked the world had become, where Noah faithfully preached for 120 years, but nobody got saved. Okay, the other thing I wanted to ask you is during the seven, I believe there’s seven different stations that were under grace now, that during those different stations, how, for example, I’ll give you an example of Abraham. Abraham was called out and he was the father of the later came to be. What happened to all those that did not belong or were not in the group of Abraham and went on to be the Jewish race where the God gave the commandments and the law to them?
What happened to all those people that were not part of his lineage? How would they stay? How could they be saved? Well, they were saved the same way we are in the same way Abraham was and that was by believing the gospel Message Abraham heard the gospel and in Genesis 1560 believed the gospel and it was counted to him for righteousness That’s Genesis 15 six quoted three times in the New Testament in Romans 4 Galatians 3 and James chapter 2 But you see Abraham and his descendants were to be God’s witnesses in all the world So they were to proclaim the gospel to the other nations and God wanted one nation that would remain true and faithful.
Obviously they failed, but they would be His witnesses. Isaiah 43 10 says to Israel, you are my witnesses, sayeth the Lord. Now they failed miserably and now God has turned to us Gentiles as His witnesses. In Acts 1 8, Jesus said at Pentecost when the Holy Spirit would come upon us as believers that we would be witnesses unto Him in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and unto the uttermost parts of the earth. And so we the Gentiles have now been the witnesses, but we’re failing terribly today in getting that messy jot.
And so God is going to go back and finish his program with the Jews right after the Rapture. The witnesses again will be Israel and there will be 144,000 Jewish men that will do the The evangelism right after the rapture tells us in Revelation 7, I heard the number of them that were sealed and it was sealed. 140 and 4000 of all the children of the tribes of Israel. In the name of 12 tribes, 12,000 from each tribe, 12 times 12,000 is 144,000.
These will be the Jewish witnesses that through their witness, Revelation 7, 9 tells us that millions and millions will get saved around the world in the tree relationship period through the Jewish witness that will obviously be fresh and alive again, but they failed and they were to be the witnesses to the world prior to Jesus coming. Folks that during Abraham’s time or before that that did not or nowhere near Abraham or even knew That God had called them out.
They God would have to judge them They we know that God is just and but they never heard the gospel. They never heard faith in God. They I Guess there will be a different way that God would judge those people that well, that’s not true You know, in fact, when you read the book of Joshua, for example, you have the story of Rahab the Harlan. And if you read chapter two, Rahab believed the gospel by having heard the story of the defeat of the nation of Egypt, the most powerful country in the world by God as he delivered the amount of Egypt.
And he said, she said everybody in the whole Middle East there trembled and feared this God, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob that led the children of Israel under Moses out of Egypt through the Red Sea. And she gives her testimony there. And we see the beginning there of this wonderful story of the Scarlet Thread, the picture of the blood of Christ as it goes through the Old Testament, she was put a rope over the wall. And when they conquered the city of Jericho, they would spare her part of the wall and that home above on the top of the wall because of the scarlet cord that talked about the blood of Christ that she trusted in and she and her family were saved.
And you read these marvelous stories of people and she was a gentile and she was a prostitute on top of it and yet God loved her and she got saved by believing that gospel and you see numerous stories like that through the Bible. Bert, thank you for your call. It’s been great and I hope you have a wonderful day and we’ll have to go to my next caller. Thank you so much. burnt down in Miami, we’re now going to go to Carl in Tampa, Florida, and I don’t, all right, we’re going to go to Carl and Carl, thank you for calling into Bible.
Yeah, I’ll pass the hand. I know that in the Bible, the word repentance means magnolia, in the Greek, in the Hebrew, it’s got another name and it means a not change of mind, like mind that it does in the near, it reads, it’s a return to God. Well no, it doesn’t mean that it means to lament or to grieve. There’s another word, shoe, V-S-H-U-V translated, repent only three times. If you look at that word, it’s translated over 600 times to turn.
It should have never been translated those three times into the English word repent. But what the translators were trying to do, because there was such repetition in those three verses that we’re talking about, that they threw in that word repent to get some variety in the language. But that’s a mistake. The main word that’s used, and it occurs 43 times, is a word that means to lament or to grieve and is made equivalent when quoted in the New Testament of changing your mind.
And what is interesting is that it is used of God 37 times out of the 43 times. And that means 86% of the time it’s karate repents in the Old Testament. Only six times does it occur of men. So only 14% of the time the Hebrew word for repent is used, does it refer to men. 86% of the time it’s gone. So if somebody were to say it meant to turn from sin or to turn, that would mean that you have a holy God, a sinless God, who’s not capable of sinning, turning from his sin.
The three that you’re talking about from the Hebrew word Shoeve SHUV should have really been translated turn, but they translate it as I think we’re trying to get some variety because in each of those verses the word Shoeve is used about from three to four times. And I think they got tired of saying turn, turn, turn, turn, so they said turn, turn and repent. But it’s all the same Hebrew word. It should have been never translated into the English word repent.
Okay, so then in the Old Testament it means the same as the New Testament that change of mind or change of thought. It means, it can mean exactly that because when the Old Testament passage is used, for example in Jonah, and it says in the New Testament that God said that that was the greatest revival of all time, The whole city of Nineveh repented The New Testament, the equivalent New Testament word is used as Betanoi, which is a change of mind.
So the people there rent their clothes and they grieved and lamented over the fact that they had not known the truth. And when they heard the revelation that God was going to judge their city and destroy it, they changed their mind and I believe the preaching of Jonah. And what happened was that God spared the fact that they had no idea. city. And of course later he eventually judged it and destroyed it. But he gave them a reprieve for several hundreds of years because they did respond to the preaching of the Lord.
And there you see the love of God going to a pagan Gentile city and bringing the message to them. And the equivalent word, you read Matthew 12, it says that Jesus was a greater than Jonah. And Jesus Jesus was a greater than Solomon. And Jesus was greater than anyone that’s come along because he’s God who took on flesh. And it talked about the incredible results that Jonah had. I don’t think any preacher since has been able to have a whole city change your mind like the city of Nineveh did.
You know, the people believe then that repent means to transform your sins. How can they justify the fact that God, repent, and God had no sins to repent from it? they can’t and so that’s an argument that i like to use with people to say look you haven’t done much thought here because uh… you recognize that eighty six percent of the time the word is used of god repainting that it cannot mean it cannot mean that it is a right it can’t mean turn from sin so that’s right that makes sense to when you read that date the thing that i was looking up in the internet last night and it did show in the greek it said that the lawyer but in the he brought it had another word in this of that word meant it’s a big term you got to turn the laws and i was thinking
well that makes sense to you because uh… if that means that got repented i mean i had to turn back to god you know to try to get now that that the word of the word is nature and but but but i think that whatever you looked up there is only referring to those three times when the word shoe vesth uv in the Hebrew is translate repent that should never happen i was just a bad translating uh… mistake there because uh…
they wanted variety but uh… the word she does mean turn and uh… and uh… it talks about uh… you know like i said it’d be used four times the diverse and they got tired of state turning turning turned and or return and then all of a sudden they would throw in repent on top of it i think a variety and that was just i was a bad mistake let me ask you another real quick question on the the choke it was out something to that and he’s really fired up for the Lord he’s really excited any reason by what time that he said he’s reading the keen james for teenage so you’re familiar with that no i’m not and i i i don’t know what it is if they change the text at all but uh…
it might be just an addition where they have pictures or uh… notes in there and that might be perfectly fine uh… so i’m curious i’ll have to check that out the uh… king james for teenagers i don’t know what it is yet when i give the paper that we have that i got from you uh… the n i v and the thing that they’ve omitted and things that they’ve changed and he’s gonna check it out against his bible the keen james the teenagers and i just wanted if they could just you know another name uh…
you know because i don’t want to hear about the new keen dreams uh… there’s uh… you know there’s a lot yes there has been changed but when you hear anything that’s different you know and i just wonder you know if it is the bible but you know maybe they just to cut the leaves and the owls, I don’t know. It’s sure hard to keep up with. I know they have Bibles now for teens, for senior citizens, for women, for Afro-Americans, for Anglos, whatever.
So I think it’s just trying to sell Bibles. And I’m not too sure whether it means it’s just still the King James with just maybe pictures and notes and things that attract kids to look at it. But I’ll try to find out. OK, thank you. Thank you for calling Carl. That was Carl in Tampa, Florida. We’re now going to go to Angel in St. Petersburg. Angel, welcome to Bibleline you’re on there. Hey, Hank. How are you doing? Good. Michael, my statement or question, if you will, it’s regarding the King James Bible.
I used to be one of these King James Bible Thumper guys was just nothing but King James. All other versions were bad. But I came. Instead, I just came to a realization that the King James is not… It’s not perfect. We just talked about that with this previous call here. I was listening. That word should have never been translated repent. In fact, the word metanoia in the Greek should never been translated repent because the English word repent never did mean the same thing as the Greek word and that’s a problem.
But what I like about the King James, not saying that the King James only, but the King James, the problems have been pretty much worked out because it’s been around 400 years. when you see a brand-new translation come out there and they’re selling it on the market it usually takes twenty or thirty years before people expose all the problems that they create because sometimes they they’ve solved some problems but they bring along a whole bunch of more new problems that you’re not going to be aware of it and if you have that a good study reference bible the problems have already been attacked for four hundred years and they’re usually exposed in the margin someplace and and at least you know uh…
what the problems are exposed to you and you can deal with what you know one of the uh… the scriptures that got in my head is enough first john chapter five verse seven where king james is the father the father of the whole spirit are one and uh… a lot of people use that is on you know jesus being god not i i think it’s a bad reference because in the break uh… it says the water blood and the spirit are one and so i i think it’s a bad translation just on that verse it’s not a good reference when you’re trying to…
You don’t really need it because there’s so many other verses you can use, but basically that problem came about because of the so-called best manuscripts which are not the best, the Sinaiticus and the Vaticanus which are older, but you know if you read the story what happened with the Sinaiticus, that was found in a trash pile ready to be burned. The monks there were burning that to heat the monastery at St. Catherine’s exit of Mount Sinai. I’ve got a run, we’re out of time, I’ll be back again tomorrow.
