We’re going to go to the Bible for a few minutes and then we’ll go ahead and take our callers and we’ll try to answer your questions here at Bibleline. We’re going to turn in our Bibles to the book of Galatians, Galatians chapter 1.
What a wonderful book Galatians is. It is a book that really defines for us what the gospel is and what it is not. And we encourage you to read the book of Galatians. It’s just six chapters long. And if you could possibly take time to read those six chapters several times, it would really be helpful what a great book the book of Galatians is. And Galatians chapter one is where I’m turning. And I hope you have your Bible there and you can turn with me to Galatians chapter one.
In verse 4 it tells us about Jesus Christ who gave himself for our sins that he might deliver us from this present evil world according to the will of God and our Father. So we notice here that Christ gave himself for our sins. What is so amazing to me is that people add works to salvation and make salvation based upon what we do when the Bible tells us clearly that it was Christ who gave himself for our sins. And there’s nothing on our part to do.
It’s all been done by Jesus Christ. I love this verse, Galatians 1-4, look it up in your Bible, it says, who gave himself And then notice it says… For our sins. There is no other Savior. There is no other substitute sacrifice as the Bible teaches like Christ. He gave himself for our sins. In other words, what you and I have done wrong was paid for by Christ’s substitutionary death at the cross. As it says here in Galatians 1, 4, who gave himself for our sins, then it says that he might deliver us.
It’s amazing to me how much theology says that we’re delivering ourselves. Keep on holding on. Keep on keeping on. Keep the faith in all these kinds of phrases that I think are misleading. When the Bible tells us that salvation is done, it’s finished. It’s accomplished. There is nothing for you and me to do but receive what Christ has already done. And when you receive the finished work of Christ, God saves you when you trust Jesus as your Savior. Now, if you have to do anything of self to be saved, then you will not be saved.
Galatians makes this very, very clear. You know, the false gospel always takes the lost and dying center and points him to his own future as to what he will or will not do in his future that will determine whether he makes heaven or not. Stop and just maybe close your eyes and ask yourself, is there something in your mind? in your future that you will do or not do, that would affect whether you go to heaven or not. And if you say yes to that, then you’re not saved.
You’re trusting in your work. You’re trusting in what you’re going to do or not gonna do. That’s the false gospel. That’s the way to detect it. The true gospel always takes the lost dying sinner and points you back to the cross where Jesus said it’s finished. paid in full, full satisfaction received for the debt. And so the true message always points you back to the cross where Jesus paid it all. It doesn’t point to the future in what you’re going to do or not gonna do.
It points back to the past where Jesus paid it all. And that’s the difference between the true message of the gospel of Christ and those messages that are false. You may not know much theology, But if you can just in your mind ask yourself, you might close your eyes and just say, am I being tugged by this preacher or by my church? Or do I feel in my spirit that there’s something that I can do or not do in my future that will determine whether I make heaven, then you’ve been hearing a false gospel.
Because the true gospel says, look back to the cross. There Jesus paid your total sin debt in full. And if you simply receive what Christ did for you, the Lord saves you and He saves you forever. Now in the book of Galatians, it warns here that there were those who came along and perverted this message. It says in verse six, “‘I marvel that you are so soon removed from Him “‘that called you into the grace of Christ “‘unto another gospel.'”
So notice you were called by grace. are you saved through faith? And here they were now shifting over to another gospel, which it says in verse seven, which is really not another gospel, but it is a perversion of the gospel that you’ve heard. In other words, once you alter, once you change, once you add and sprinkle a little works on the gospel that is given to us in the scripture, then you have a perverted gospel, and the Bible says this gospel that is perverted will not save.
In other words, if you add any works to what Christ did for you at the cross, the gospel is no longer the gospel. You have a perverted message and it won’t save and it’s under God’s curse. Look at verse eight. It says though we are an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you, then that which we have preached unto you, let him be a cursed. Wow! So notice Paul includes himself with the other apostles and even includes angels here.
Though we or an angel from heaven preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be what? A cursed. A cursed. Wow. That’s pretty strong language and basically it means let him be God damned because the message once perverted will not save. It’s interesting, I think of the Mormons when I think of verse 8 here, because the Mormons claim that their revelation came through the angel Maroni. That Moroni came to Joseph Smith and gave him the special eyeglasses, the erm and the thumbam, so they could read the so-called golden tablets that were there up in Palmyra, New York.
And he read these tablets and that’s is the Book of Mormon. But basically it contradicts the Bible. So therefore it is Moroni Bologna. Moroni Bologna, that’s right. It’s not the truth and it’s an accursed message. And anybody who believes that gospel, that message will not make heaven. And my heart goes out to those that have been deceived by a perverted message of the gospel. Yes, they might talk about Christ, but if they add any work to what Christ did, they will not be saved.
Verse nine says it again, as we said before. So now I say again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you, and that which we have preached unto you, let him be a cursed, because the true message when perverted won’t save at all. And the true message is described in verse 4. Christ gave himself for our sins that he might deliver us, that he might deliver us from this present evil world. In other words, the opposite of Christianity is that you work your way to heaven, that you do good works to get yourself there and so on.
Whereas the Bible teaches that God did for men what men could not do for himself, that Jesus Christ made the full and complete payment for years in. There’s nothing for us to do. I love the hymn, Just as I Am I Come. Without one plea, but that my blood was shed for me. me. When you simply come to Christ, trusting in what He did for you, not what you have done for Him, nothing in my hand I bring, simply to thy cross I cling.”
That’s the true message. But often we find that people add to it. Relations 5’4″, goes on to say, Christ is become of no effect unto you. And then it tells us to whom it’s addressed. Whosoever of you that are justified by the law or by the commandments or by works, you are fallen from grace. It would be awful if Christ counted nothing for you, but my friend, that is exactly the case. If you add any work to what Christ did, the Bible says Christ will count nothing for you.
You are fallen from grace. Verse 4 of Galatians 5 is talking to the unbeliever. It says, you, you, you several times there. Christ has become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law or by works. You are fallen from grace. But then verse 5 switches gears on us, and instead of you, you, you, it says, we, we, we. Verse 5 of Galatians 5 says, we and the writer of Galatians includes himself as the Apostle Paul, he’s obviously saved.
We, the believers, through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. So we’re saved by faith where verse 4 is talking to those that are attempting to be saved by Christ plus works. And the Bible says that Christ will count nothing for you, whosoever of you are justified by the law. You are followed from grace. But verse 5, it switches to we, we, we, we, we, from you, you, you, you. Let’s call rightly divided into word of truth.
Verse 4 is talking about the unsaved. Verse 5 is talking about the saved. Verse 4 is talking about those that claim to be Christian and are adding works to what Christ did and say that Christ plus my works will get me to heaven. The Bible says Christ counts nothing to those that are attempting to add any work to what Christ did. To be saved you must trust Christ alone, and it’s by faith alone in Christ alone. Then after you’re saved, you make a second decision to become a disciple to live for Christ, and that is a way of earning rewards in heaven and getting God’s blessings and His will and direction for your life and this life.
But it doesn’t save you. I’m not save by anything that I do or will do, I am saved by what Jesus did for me two thousand years ago at the cross of Calvary. I am Dr. Englund from this Bibleline. I hope you have trusted Christ alone because there will be many that will stand there one day before the Lord and not make heaven because they were trusting in what they did in addition. We have the phone lines ready to go.
Here we have David in St. Petersburg. The phone number, by the way, if you want to call in, is 1-800-576-3771. 3 7 7 1 and We’re gonna go to the off-air questions first. We have Tom in Luke, Florida. He says I hear many pastors say make Jesus Lord and Savior of Your life to be saved at what point does Jesus become Lord in one’s life? Even though he is already Lord Well that again is the same thing we just spoke about here in the book of Galatians where you add works to salvation, you have to accept Christ as your Savior to be saved, then a second choice is to accept Christ as the Lord of your life to be a disciple.
To mix the two together is bad doctrine. You know when you talk about the Lordship of Christ, if that’s what you’re trusting in to be saved, You won’t be saved. Read Matthew 722 where there is a whole group of people that acknowledge the Lordship of Christ. They say Lord, Lord, when they stand before the Lord at the Great White Throne Judgment and then they not only acknowledge the Lordship of Christ but they talk about and brag about how they have actually obeyed the Lordship of Christ.
They say we’ve preached in your name, we’ve healed in in your name. We’ve done many wonderful works in your name. But look at the result of those that trust in the Lordship of Christ to save them. Verse 23, Christ says, under them, I never knew you. Not I once knew you, but I never knew you, depart from me, either work iniquity. So these are lost. They were never saved. Isn’t that amazing? So when you say, make Christ Lord of your life, watch out.
because those that are trusting in acknowledging Christ as Lord to be saved, according to Matthew 7, 22, and 23, won’t be saved at all. Christ said, I never knew you, not I once knew you and I lost you, I never knew you. But the reason why they were lost was because they had not said, Lord, didn’t we trust that you died at Calvary? And that your death and shed blood paid are sinned, dead, and full, and that the only thing we’re trusting in is you.
and your death at the cross for our sins. Well, Tom, I hope that helps. I made a decision to trust Christ as Savior at 18. It was about a year later, I was 19 years of age when I chose to make Christ the Lord of my life and I have served the Lord ever since. But I was saved with disregard to any service at all. I was saved the night I got saved by trusting in what christ did for me at the cross all k we have chris uh…
from temple florida and uh… chris thank you for calling in and uh… you’re on the air chris are you there yes hi doctor hank how you doing good uh… uh… question i was speaking with uh… a young man yesterday that seven day at vinist and he started speaking about the sabbath being on saturday instead of sunday and worshiping on saturday and it kind of made a big deal about it and i was wondering if you could kind of touch on that and also what the seven-day Adventist really believe so i could better approach the situation okay the seven-ed minutes believe in works and they believe uh…
and by the way saturday is the Sabbath and uh… we don’t worship on the Sabbath we worship on sunday as christ established that is the worship day christ came back from that in the first day of the week which is sunday he is next big appearance was on the eighth day which was the following Sunday, Pentecost, which began the church age, was on a Sunday. The early Christians, if you read in the book of Acts and Corinthians and so on, met on Sunday, and were not under the Sabbath.
But the seven Adventists teach that the mark of the beast is worshiping on Sunday. So that if you worship on Sunday, you have the mark of the beast. And they say the mark of the living God is to worship on Saturday, so they believe they have the mark of the living God and that we who worship on Sunday have the mark of the beast. It obviously works for salvation because we’re not saved on the basis of what day we worship on or whether we keep the commandments or not.
It just said a moment ago as we just quoted Galatians 5 and 4, Christ has become of no effect unto you, seven to add Venice, because if you’re trying to be justified by the law and the fourth commandment is to keep the Sabbath day, then obviously Christ will count nothing for you and you are fallen from grace. So unfortunately they are lost. In their attempt to save themselves by keeping the law. Let me read Colossians chapter 2. It says, Jesus blotting out the handwriting of laws or ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross.
And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it. Here’s verse 16 now, Closhed. to write this one down. Let no man therefore judge you in meat or in drink or in respect of an holy day or of the new moon or of the Sabbath, which are a shadow of things to come, but the body is of Christ. So we find that the Bible says don’t let any man judge you know in regard to whether you wish upon the Sabbath or not, because Christ took those Old Testament laws, which the Bible says here was against us, which is contrary to us, nailed it to his cross, took it out of the way, and therefore let no man judge you with regard to these things anymore.
So hopefully that answers that the Seventh Adventists have a lot of strange doctrines. They read the Bible through the lenses of Ellen G. White and her books, and so they’ll never get free of their errors. One of them is the investigative judgment where the Seventh Adventists will say in one breath were saved by grace. But then they say, Christ now is in the holy of holies in heaven. They’re conducting the investigative judgment where He weighs your works in a scale to determine whether you’re worthy of grace or not.
Well, that’s a backdoor approach of taking away salvation by faith. Seventh-day Adventists basically believe it works because ultimately Christ weighs your works in a scale to determine whether you’re worthy of receiving grace. And so it’s double talk. They say in one breath you say by grace, but actually works to determine whether you get grace. That’s craziness. That is absolutely the opposite of what the Bible teaches. And the Seventh-Ed Venice, unless they recognize what the Bible teaches, not what L.
and G. White teaches, will never come clean and unfortunately they will not make heaven. Which by the way, the Seventh-Ed Venice deny hell, just like the Jehovah’s Witnesses. There’s a lot of similarities. They believe in soul sleep. They have numerous numerous numerous serious Bible errors and doctrine and Obviously as long as they read LNG whites books and read the Bible through the lensesher books They’ll never come free. Thank you for that call Chris, and I hope that helped. Oh Yeah, that was exactly what I was looking for.
Thank you very much. All right. That was Chris in Tampa, Florida We now have Annette in Tampa, Florida, and Annette. Welcome to Bible Annette. Hi, how are you? Good. Good. My question, I guess, is two parts. I’d like your comments, your thoughts on professing Christians who continue in an immoral lifestyle and justify it by the grace of God and say that certain aspects of the Bible are for that time because of that time, specifically professing Christians that continue to live together unmarried and homosexuals who say that there’s nothing wrong with their homosexuality and profess to be saved.
And then the second part would be We are thoughts and comments on 1 Corinthians 5-9 and what we of Christians should do in response to that type of situation because 1 Corinthians 5-9 kind of says that we’re to not have anything to do with them. So I’m going to listen off air to your comments. Okay? Alrighty. Thank you so much. Thank you. Thank you. This is a great passage because if they can live with disregard to what the Bible says and not have God interfere, it proves that they are not saved.
You know, once you become born again, God becomes your father, you become his son or daughter, and no longer can you live as you please. Look at Hebrews 12 or 6, where it says, for whom the Lord loves, he chastens and scourges every son whom he receives. we receive. So when you’re received into God’s family by the new birth, God then as a father because He loves you will discipline you. Verse 8 says, If you be without chastisement or discipline, where of all, A-L-L are partakers, it says you’re a bastard and not a son.
What it’s saying is that you’re not a Christian. You’re not born again. You’re not saved. You’re illegitimate and claiming to be Christian. If you could go out and limit you please and God did not interfere. You’re not going to get away with it. So if they’re claiming that they’re genuinely saved and they’re living in a moral lifestyle. Then there are consequences. And if they’re not having any consequences, I would say that they are, as it says in Hebrews 12 8, they’re a bastard.
They’re not a son. They’re not a child of God. They’re not saved. So if they’re genuinely saved, they can expect serious consequences. And sometimes those consequences can be very, very painful in their life. And it might even mean the Lord would take them home to heaven early. You mentioned 1 Corinthians 5, well that gives an example there of a man living in adultery and fortication with his mother, probably his stepmother. And it says in verse 5, to deliver such a one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that means to allow Satan to kill his body that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.
So the man was taken, his life was taken, but yet he’s still saved when the Lord comes back at the event of the rapture. But here it talks about verse 9 that believers are really not to fellowship with those that are living openly in sin if they are a believer. And we find that what happens is that God will judge them. It says that we should just fellowship them and it says in verse 13, but them that are without.
That is, once they are out of your fellowship, God will judge them and he does discipline the the delinquent believer. And certainly, I believe we’re seeing a lot of this today. Anyway, thank you Annette. We’ve got to go to break. Stay tuned. We’ll be right back. Don’t go away. Bibleline will be back in a moment. To pledge your support for Bibleline, give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. I’m Dr. Englund Serman. This is Bibleline. It’s great to be with you.

Twelve hours of teaching on the book of Revelation, verse by verse. We also have the book of Daniel and many other books of the Bible, Jude, the book of Romans, the book of Hebrews, to name some.
These are all wonderful teachings that I believe that you will find very helpful, verse by verse, covering the Bible. And we just appreciate all of you, our audience and our glad that you’re listening and hopefully that we’re a blessing to you. I know what it was like as a brand new believer not having a place to get my question answered.
I decided a long time ago, Lord, if you give me the opportunity to get answers to my questions, I’ll share the answers with others. And that’s what we do here every day on Bible line is that, wow, I struggled having lots of questions. I was so inquisitive and I didn’t have anybody to ask. And that’s why Bibleline exists because we want to make sure that there’s as a source for you to get your questions answered right here on the Bibleline program.
We’re going to Molly in Tampa, Florida. Molly, welcome to Bibleline your own ear. Yes, hello. Hi, Molly. Yes, I have a question. I was recently exposed to a religious group that says, as a private salvation, you need to follow Acts 238. Basically what they said that meant we’re pinning, they said you have to be baptized in Jesus’ name and then you’re going to be filled with the Holy Ghost and you’re supposed to speak with other tongues. And if you follow those three steps, you’re saved.
And then they also went on the point out that every New Testament believer following the day of Pentecost in the Bible, followed those steps and they were saved. Well, they totally have it wrong. Let me just first of all talk about Acts 2.38. several things going on there. First of all, the word repent from the Greek language is metanoia and it means change your mind. If you notice Peter there is addressing in his message on Pentecost, the very folks that were guilty of crucifying Jesus Christ.
And they crucified him because they thought he was an imposter, a fraud, a counterfeit, a a siever, a blasphemer. And so they crucified him. And he says in verse 22 that they had taken Christ by their wicked hands and crucified him in slaining. But God raised him from the dead. And Christ, Peter presents the case that Jesus Christ is indeed the Messiah. They had made a serious mistake in crucifying him. And the summation of his messages in verse 36 where he says, therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God hath made that Jesus, which one the one whom you have crucified both Lord, that means he is God and he is Christ, he is the Messiah.
Then they were pricked in their hearts verse 37 and they said what should we do? Peter says in verse 38, change Nato your mind, repent. Then secondly, he says, be baptized every one of you in the name of the Lord Jesus. And that’s not water. It’s the baptism in his name. The word baptize simply means to wash or to cleanse. And we are fully cleansed and washed of our sin by not water but by the blood of Christ. And this occurs when we put our trust in Christ that we are cleansed in the name or the authority that Christ gave that all that would believe on Him would be saved.
It’s like Christ wrote out a check drawn on the Bank of Heaven in the amount of eternal life made out to whosoever will, that you could put your name in that whosoever will slot. He signs at the bottom Jesus Christ. And when you put your name on that check as the whosoever that would believe in Christ and present that to God, and it’s drawn on the Bank of Heaven, you receive the gift of everlasting life. And so it’s not talking about water.
And the result of changing your mind about who Christ is and accepting Him as being the Messiah, that He is God who took on flesh, who died to pay for our sins, and then trusting Him and being cleansed or washed in the authority that Christ gave in his name, then you become saved and you receive the forgiveness of your sin and you receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. But they are obviously teaching works or salvation. Not totally their whole message contradicts so many clear verses.
And when you get later over to Acts chapter 10, you’ll find that the people that got saved there in verse 43 and they heard that whosoever believeth in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ shall receive the remission of their sins. They believed it, they received the Holy Spirit, and Peter then says, can any man, verse 47 of Acts 10, can any man forbid water that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Spirit as well as we?
So here they were already saved and they were never water baptized. So water isn’t what saves. Water was a testimonial later of the fact that they were saved in cleansing or sin by the blood of Christ, but water will never take away sin. So I would stay away from that group. So what about speaking in tongues? And the speaking tongues was given back then, but it’s gone now. It was a temporary gift and nobody today on the planet earth is speaking in tongues.
The tongues that it’s done today is a gibberish but the real gift was a known foreign language. In Acts 2 the Greek word is dialectos and it means a specific dialect of a specific language and that was the real miracle that people had come to Jerusalem from all over the world. 16 countries are listed by name in Acts chapter 2. And these people heard the gospel given in the language that they had been born and raised with in that Gentile country.
And they say in verse 8, how is it that we can hear every man in the language that we were born and raised with the dialect of that language? And so it was quite specific. And so it’s not the gibberish is happening today that there’s nobody speaking in tongues so if tongues is required and everybody’s going to hell today because nobody is speaking in the biblical gift of tongues. Okay so a lot of what we see on TV like a lot of ministries so people aren’t speaking in tongues.
Nope that’s a gibberish is done by all the world religions the Buddhists do that the people in Islam do that the people in all the world religions do it the Mormons even do it. There are cult and they’re not even close to being Christian. They do the gibberish. It’s done by everybody, but the true genuine believer. That ought to wake people up right there. The fact that genuine believers don’t do it, but all the ones that are false around the world all do the gibberish.
Every one of them. That ought to be a big wake up call. 1 Corinthians 14-22 tells us that tongues were for a sign not to believers, but to unbelievers. In other words, it was for evangelism. And if somebody really had the gift, they ought to be able to lead people to Christ that had that foreign language, but nobody is able to do that because gibberish today is not the gift given from the Bible. Thank you, Molly from Tampa, Florida, for calling in today.
We now have David in the land, Florida. David, welcome to Bible and you’re on here. Good morning, Dr. Hank. How you doing today? I get a kick out of Edgar and Richmond, Virginia. He calls you Dr. Hank, so I thought I’d do it myself. Well, good. That’s fine. Just real quick, I was thinking about what you were just saying, Amali, but earlier Chris called in, I believe it was. And I think he explained it real well about what he was concerned about in the Seventh-day Adventist.
I’ve noticed with the cults like Seventh-day Adventist, Mormonism, others, and probably with all the Second-Minical stuff, it’ll end up being the same for them. They always have a book. They bring alongside the Bible and say, well, it’s not all together done unless you incorporate this also with it. I know you’ve probably seen that too, like the founder of the Mormon thing. He’s got his book. Of course, the Bible isn’t complete unless his book’s here. Then the Seventh-day Adventists have LNG White.
The Bible’s not complete unless it has LNG White stuff there also. I just appreciate what you explain that. One other thing, I was just thinking about Molly, you explained her about the tons, thanks, as in your older broadcast a few months back, you were saying if the tons is assigned to unbelievers, then why don’t these guys go out to them all and let a rip and the unbelievers will be convinced about what they’re trying to say with it all?
I’ve offered that offer hundreds of times. Nobody’s ever gotten in my car with me to go to the mall and try this thing out. They don’t want to use it around the lost people. Right. I’m sorry. I can barely hear you. There’s a drill scratch. You can have something. Okay. Well, I’m so glad you called. I hope that I don’t know if we answered any questions here or not, but it was good to talk to you. Thanks, sir. Thank you, David.
in the land of florida currently are calls cut a scratchy uh… there we have gim and tampa florida uh… jim welcome uh… to uh… bible on you are on the air jim welcome to bible yes good morning uh… quick question for you you were talking to the lady will go and uh… and no i’m saved and i know what salvation is but and i’ve listened to you for years now and you were talking to her about she was asking you the question about adulterous and people who continue on after they say they’re saved and you made a statement that your question if they’re saved.
Now to me when you hear that it sounds to me like works because adulterous like David was a murderer and adulterous and he was saved before this happened so he’s actually he was saved. I know his testimony wasn’t any good, but you know adulterous and drunken or addict they can all get saved. Absolutely. And the point is that it doesn’t mean they’re not saved. No, but it means if there’s no consequences they probably are not saved. You know David paid for it.
If you read the 51st Psalm he’s pretty beat up there and he talks about how the Lord afflicted him and basically punished him or chastened him because of his sin, but yet he was still saved. So what I’m saying is if you can continue on without any discipline in your life that God doesn’t do something about it, it would prove that you were not born again. If you’re genuinely born again, you cannot live as you please once you get saved.
Right, but just like for instance, smoking. I’ve been smoking for 40 years. I’m continuing to smoke. I know it’s it’s difficult for me to stop and I’ve tried but I Don’t feel that that keeps me from being safe. Not at all. There has not to do with your made a statement before you don’t go to hell for smoking But although it although it’s still a sin Yes, it is and gluttony is a sin some people just eat all the time.
That’s a That’s insane too. Yeah, no, isn’t it? Well, sure. But there are a price to pay for gluttony and for smoking. And eventually, you’ll pay the price in what it does to your body. But you’re still saved. So the point is you cannot live as you please without consequences. And the person who claims that they’re saved and they don’t have any consequences, I would doubt that they’re saved if they’re able to live as they please. Psalm 73 talks about people who live as they please and they curse God and everything else.
The Bible tells us clearly that they are not saved. These are the ungodly who prosper in this world. We are not to be envious of them, whereas the genuine believer in that 73rd Psalm says, I’m chasing every day by the Lord. The Lord obviously does not allow the genuine believer. I found one thing that really in my life was saved before saved and saved. I guess you’d say before and after nothing bothered you when you did sin. Then when you did sin after you were saved it bothered you a lot.
You were convicted. Sure. That’s true. So that to me that is proof that you are saved, because what you did before didn’t bother you, now it does. I agree as well. That sounds good. Okay. Thank you for that call. And we have Ron in Richmond, Virginia calling in and Ron, welcome to Bible and you’re on here. yeah uh… good morning pastor of the term uh… question on the what is your opinion on the new american standard bible compared to the n i d or the king james and i’ll hang up thank you sir i like well the new american standard has serious problems you know in john six forty seven one of my favorite verses that says very barely i say into you he the believe it on me has everlasting life That’s the King James, but in the new American standard, it says, he who believes has eternal life.
It doesn’t say on whom you are to believe. In other words, the two words on me are gone. So just the fact that you believe, believe what, or believe on whom you have to believe on Christ to beisSpecial. Those are two critical words that are dumped. And there’s so many thousands of omissions in the new American standard version. in the temptation in Matthew chapter four, when Christ is tempted by Satan, where Jesus says to Satan, get behind me, Satan.
That whole phrase is gone if you have the New American standard. I don’t know why anybody would want a Bible that is missing all those important phrases and some of them are critical to the understanding of the passage. Christ was there tempted by Satan, then Christ tells Satan to get out of here, get behind me, Satan. and that whole phrase has gone in a new American standard. The deity of Christ is attacked in 1st Corinthians, rather in 1st Timothy 3 16, where it says, without controversy, great is the mystery of godliness that God was manifest in the flesh.
Well, in the new American standard, it says he was manifest in the flesh. That’s meaningless. I’m manifest in the flesh. My operators here this morning during this radio show are manifest in the flesh. your manifest in the flesh. But when you say God was manifest in the flesh, that is significant. And also it seems like the deity of Christ rests upon our vote because it says in 1st Timothy 3 16 in the New American Standard, by our common confession.
In other words, it depends on our vote apparently. But it doesn’t say that in the King James, and of course the original text doesn’t say that. God is very clearly God in the flesh because God declared it to be so and performed it. But it’s not based upon whether we vote, whether we think God is in flesh or whether we think Jesus is God or not. The Bible is the final authority. So I hope that helps a little bit here about that question but definitely the new American Standard has some serious problems.
Well we have some more off-air questions. We’re going to try to catch as much as we can today. This is Bible item Dr. Englund’s from the phone numbers 1-800-576-3771, 1-800-576-3771, off-air Kyle in Sarasota, Florida Florida leaves us off her question on the amount of transfiguration. How did the disciples that were with Jesus know the two were with him were Elijah and Moses? And I think there’s something unique about our resurrection bodies that allow us to know one another. They had never met, obviously, Moses and Elijah.
I don’t think they had signs hanging around their neck that identified them. I just think there’s something supernatural about our resurrection bodies that will that will know one another and will know people we’ve never known before. be So there’s my answer, Kyle. Just will know people. I think once we see them in their resurrection bodies. Kathy, a new you’re in says if you trust in Jesus as your only way of heaven. And someone down the road tells you another way and believe them.
Are you still going to have a yes, Kathy, once you’re saved, you’re stuck. No matter what happens, even if you. even if you become deceived or misled, whatever happens, Jesus said in John 6.37. Him that cometh to me, I will in no wise cast out. That means for no reason under no circumstances would Christ ever cast out a believer. So Kathy once you’re saved, you’re stuck and of course if you stay in your Bible then you will not be led astray, you’ll be able to stay on target and recognize and discern what is true or what is false in the way of a message.
Diane calls in and leaves this off-air question. She calls in from Tampa. She says the Bible says even those who call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved, is it really that simple? Well it is that simple. You know when you call upon Jesus who is the only one who can save you. He saves you. And there’s nothing that we can do to save ourselves. So obviously salvation is only in Christ. Peter said next 4-12, neither is there salvation in any other, for there is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved.
So there’s only salvation in one person. That’s Jesus. When you trust Him, you’re saved. And the Bible tells us this message is a simple message and that Satan would have people stumble over its simplicity. So when a person says it’s too simple, that’s a common response because the devil knows it’s simple too and he will cause that to be a stumbling block for someone sometimes to trust Christ. Eden in Port Charlotte, Florida calls in, leaves us off for a question, if you’re a believer and you follow away into sin and you are hurt in an accident and in death, can you ask for forgiveness and be saved?
Well, if you’re a believer, you’re already saved and you cannot be lost no matter what happens. So what you need to do is of course get your life back on track. But of course, if you’re had an accident and you’re dying, you just have to face the Lord as a believer who is delinquent. But once you’re a believer, Eden, you’re saved forever. There is no other kind of salvation. He doesn’t give us life until we sin. He gives us everlasting life.
He doesn’t give us probation. He gives us Salvation God doesn’t give us a trial period. He gives us everlasting life and so once you trust Christ Eden you’re saved forever Mary in the land of Florida calls in with this software question She says you said that children under the age of accountability would not make the rapture that doesn’t sound right Well, what is happening at theMods Mary is that life is going to go on? simply God is closing out this present age called the church age or the age of grace or dispensation of grace but life doesn’t stop.
People will marry and have children and so on and so on and it would be very disruptive disruptive if all the children were taken out. Even at the time of Noah’s flood, all the children drowned, you might remember. Everybody that was not inside the ark did not survive. And so only believers, only those that are of age will be caught up. And in life will continue on, except for those that are believers that are caught out, life will continue as it was the day before.
And I hope that helps a little bit in understanding that Mary. And I know that as a mother, probably, or grandmother, you’re concerned, and we all have that concern for little ones, but we have to trust that God knows what He’s doing. on in Hudson Florida calls in and asks for clarification on repent in Matthew 27 and 3 about Judas. Well that is a different Greek word. The word that is used throughout the New Testament that we oftentimes see in the English as repent is a Greek word metanoia that means a change of mind.
The word used, which is only used just a couple of times in the New Testament used in Matthew 27.3 translated repent means to regret. or to sorrow and Judas regretted what he had done, but Judas did not change his mind and get saved. So hopefully Vinny that will help a little bit with that question. We’re out of time and the program is coming to a close here. It’s Friday. Hope you’ll join me again on Monday.
