We’re going to talk about the Bible being an incredible book.
One of the things that impressed me early on was the accuracy of the Bible in the area of science. Science had become my God in my younger days. I was raised in church and I didn’t get answers. So I turned to science as a possible place to find truth. Science became my God. And when I saw the accuracy of the Bible in the area of science, I was quite impressed. And there are hundreds of scientific facts in the Bible written long before we ever knew them or discovered them.
In Isaiah 48 verse 4, God says, because I knew that you were obstinate, iron-necked, hard to be convinced. God said I’m going to tell you things before you discover them so you can know that this book is my book, that I’m the author of the Bible. One of the interesting ones I think is Leviticus 1711. It says, and I’ll quote Leviticus 1711. 1711 for the life of the flesh is in the blood and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls for it is the blood that may have been atonement for your soul.
Wow, that’s interesting. Here we didn’t know much about blood till rather recently but here it tells us the life of the flesh is in the blood. We know that today. In fact, when you go to the doctor’s office, the first thing they want to do is blood work. They can tell a lot about your health by looking at your blood. And here the Bible says it thousands of years ago. But science had it wrong right up until almost now.
Aristotle taught that the body was divided into two halves right down the middle. the blood on the left side flowed independently from the blood on the right side. And basically, for many, many years, if a person was sick and they went to a physician to be treated, they were told because the blood carried the evil spirits and diseases. They would recommend flogging. They would whip you. So can you imagine being sick? You don’t feel good at You go to the doctor and he says, well, go ahead and flog that guy.
So then they beat you to death while you already feel terrible. Doesn’t sound like a smart idea. Well, supposedly science advanced and then you know and have read, I’m sure, about how they began to practice bloodletting. And that is they would slice your wrist and drain blood out of you. Here you’re not very well anyway. And then they start draining your blood out. And then people didn’t always like that, so then they chose to put leeches on you that would suck the blood out.
So in any case, all of this was supposed to bring about a cure. And it’s interesting that the striped barber’s pole that was around for so long was really a reminder that they did the bloodletting. That was a picture of blood. And supposedly because Aristotle’s teaching, they would measure what they would drain out of one wrist and drain out an equal amount from the other wrist because they didn’t want you to walk around lopsided. Isn’t that crazy? Well anyway, we don’t have to look too far back into the past to see when this happened.
Our first president, George Washington, contracted double pneumonia. The best physicians in the country were called to his aid. They came and they prescribed bloodletting and they drained out according to medical records, three pints of blood. Now they know George Washington died from the loss of blood. But isn’t it amazing? Would you want to go to a doctor of 200 years ago? Wow. It’s scary, isn’t it? This is really the doctor’s kill George Washington and that was a tragedy, but they didn’t apparently know any better.
You know, but if they’d read the Bible, the Bible says the life of the flesh is in the blood. And today when you go to the hospital, Instead of draining it out, what do they do? It’s not fashionable to be in the hospital without an IV, and they’re either putting liquids or whole blood into you, not draining it out. And the Bible had it right thousands of years ago. Let me read that verse again. The life of the flesh is in the blood.
There it is. Leviticus 1711, an amazing scientific fact, really, when you think about it in the context of today’s knowledge about blood. And then God says, I’ve given it to you upon the altar to make it a tome and for your souls, for it is the blood that makes it an atonement for your soul. And here it tells us that it is blood that brings about the atonement for your sin. And without a blood sacrifice, according to the Bible, you could not enter heaven.
And of course, Jesus is that blood sacrifice. He according to the Bible is the Lamb of God, which would take away the sin of the world. And it was with, according to Peter, in 1 Peter chapter 1, it was with the precious blood of Jesus Christ, who was without blemish, without spot, who was sacrificed for you and for me, that by his death and shed blood our sins were washed away. And that’s it. We’re not saved by keeping the commandments.
We’re not saved by church membership. We’re not saved by water baptism. We’re not saved by how we conduct our life. We’re not saved by living the Christian life. What can wash away my sin? The hymn writer got it right. He said nothing but the blood. Nothing but the blood. Nothing but the blood of Jesus Christ. What can wash away my sin, to answer being correctly? Nothing but the blood. And yet so many churches might sing that hymn, and yet they disconnect from truth.
And when you talk to them about how to be saved, they’ll say, well, you have to live the Christian life. Oh, you have to go to church. Oh, you have to keep the commandments. Or you have to be water baptized. Or you have to go through confirmation. Or you have to end the list goes on and on and on. There’s a church here in Tampa, I got one of their tracks, it said 22 things one must do in order to be saved.
Wow, you know the Bible says nothing but the blood. Nothing but the blood, nothing but the blood. The hymn writer got it right. What can wash away my sin? Nothing but the blood. There’s only one condition for you to meet in order to be saved. That’s to put your trust in the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. He died and paid for your sins. And no matter how many sins you’ve committed, if you simply come and trust him, God saves you.
You know God’s wonderful illustration is out of the cross. There were two what condemned criminals, condemned criminals. Think about it. These were bad guys, condemned criminals. One of them in the last moments of his life believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, and Jesus said to him in Luke 23, 43, today thou shalt be with me in paradise. Today thou shalt be with me in paradise. He was saved on the spot, and it was with disregard to what he had done in his life.
It was based upon Christ’s death on the cross as the substitutionary sacrifice, dying there to pay for his sins and yours and mine. And it was my sins that he was paying for on the cross as well. And by his blood I have been washed of my sin. Revelation 1 5 is a favorite of mine. It says unto him Jesus that loved us and washed us from our sins in his own blood. Have you ever trusted Jesus as the only hope that you have for heaven?
Have you ever trusted that Jesus, death and shed blood was the only means by which you could be forgiven and in heaven. Have you ever done that if you haven’t? My friend, I suspect you’re not saved. You need to trust Christ in His death and shed blood as the only hope you have of going to heaven. Why not do that right now? Just whisper that prayer between you and the living God and just say, God, I’m a sinner. I don’t understand much, but I know I’ve done things wrong and right now I trust that Jesus made the payment for my sin on the cross by his death and shed blood.
I trust him right now to forgive my sin and give me the gift of everlasting life. My friend the moment you do that God saves you and you can be assured from that moment on that whenever you die you will go to heaven and live with the Lord forever and and ever and ever and ever. Well, this is Bibleline. I’m Dr. Angveland and we’re certainly looking forward to talking with you today and sharing. You can call our 800-number, 1-800-576-3771, or you can call and leave an off-air question.
But either way, you can go up on the air live with me or leave an off-air question. going all the way up to Flint, Michigan. And there we have Rodney in Flint, Michigan. Welcome to Bible On. Yes, sir. How are you doing, Dr. Instrom? Good, good. Yes, it’s good to have you have a resource. Well, thank you. Okay. Now, Dr. Instrom, I have a question, I’m going to cross in my study. When it came to Jesus re-entering into heaven after the crucifixion, there seems to be a contrast or do they go together it is uh…
stated or known that some people believe that uh… jonah being in the belly of the well and jonah the second chapter that is a type of christ praying in his anguish as the jesus the man in He says in Hebrews the 9th chapter about the 11th and 12th verse that Jesus entered back and entered into the tabernacle, the Holy of Holies, to the Father by his own blood. Is that a contrast or do they go together or how do you equate all of that?
Alright well the answer is Jesus himself said in Matthew 1240 as Jonah was three days in three nights in the fishes belly. Social of Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. So when Jonah died by the way, he died in the fishes belly, he went down into shield, which is not really hell. Hell and shield are not the same thing. Hell is empty right now. But the place where the departed dead was in the heart of the earth and called shield in the Greek is called Hades.
And there he went of course to the Paradise part where the dying thief later met Christ in the heart of the earth in the same place. So yeah, it’s a beautiful picture because Jesus said just like Jonah died, the fishes belly became the tomb for his body. His soul and spirit went down into the heart of the earth into paradise. And after three days Jonah was raised from the dead. He went back into that same body that was in the fishes belly and became alive again and it was vomited out on the shore and continued his mission.
So Christ was in the heart of the earth three days and three nights in paradise and came back into the tomb and brought that body back from the dead. And then he appeared over the next 40 days showing himself alive, even as Jonah went to Nineveh and showed himself alive after that experience. And the Bible says that Jonah was assigned to the people of Nineveh. they could see that he had gone through a horrific experience and apparently was raised from the dead.
So when he looked at his body, I would imagine that stomach acid in the fish’s belly had absolutely taken away all bodily hair. He had no hair on his head, no eyelashes, no eyebrows, no hair on his arms or just he was absolutely without any hair. Plus his body. And when it, where does it say in the scripture that it was apparent that he had been died or where did it indicate it? Well, it says he was assigned to them.
The fact that he’d come back from the dead was evident by the way they could look at his body and see, just like Jesus in the same way. He came back and had the wounds in his hands and his feet and in his side. And they recognized that this man is the same one that had been crucified that had died and now had come back from the dead. okay now which you can sit at jesus dot jonah as a type of christ or a okay uh…
uh… and is indicating now the the final question order get to the cleaning of what i’m trying to ask uh… bid jesus uh… in in in in the grave or inhale well his words of jonah indicated that he had some anguish in hell no that is not true If you read Jonah very carefully, there are two prayers that he prayed. He prayed one while he was still alive and drowning in the fish’s belly. And that was prayer number one.
The second prayer is from the very heart of the earth where he was in this place called Paradise. It was actually a place of comfort. It was not a place of discomfort at all. Christ never went to a place of torment or discomfort either, but he went to the Heart of the earth where the believers were and of course Christ announced liberty to them telling them that their sins have been paid for And on the third day he emptied the place out and took these all up to heaven But Jonah also went to that very same place.
Let me just quote the verse here where he says he prayed then it says I cried by reason of my affliction unto the Lord, and he heard me. So we find that this prayer was prayed out of the fishes’ belly. He was still alive. But then also, then he prayed out of the belly of hell. The hell is really a bad translation. It should be out of the belly of Sheol, which is the hollow place where the believers went, the Lord”], and of course the Lord said that, or Jonah says, if he went down to the mountains, he was in the heart of the earth, just like Christ went.
But then it says, yet, Hastile brought up my life. He was a doctor from corruption. So his body had begun to corrupt in the vicious belly. And of course, God brought that life back up from the dead. And then when he went to Nineveh, they listened to this man because obviously he was somebody who had come back from the dead. Yes, sir. Okay. God bless you. Well, Rodney, thank you for calling. Oh, it’s my pleasure. God bless you. Hope you got strength.
Okay. All right. Thank you very much. We are on the air up there. Flint and 2nd on Michigan. We’re also on the air in Lansing, Michigan and thank you Rodney for listening and tuning in and calling us from Flint, Michigan. We now have Benjamin in Clearwater Florida and Benjamin welcome to my blind year on the air. Good morning, Dr. I have a question here in 1st, Corinthians 16 and 17 our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. But we know our body is at the house of our spirit.
Now if the Holy Spirit lived in our spirit then how our body is temple also. Can you explain that to me? I’ll give it a try. The Bible tells us that we have our spirit and the Holy Spirit indwelling the same body once we become saved and our body becomes this temple. In Romans 8 it talks about how then his spirit can witness to our spirit as he dwells within us. By the way, that happens and the witness of the Holy Spirit is when we read the Bible, God the author of scripture, the Holy Spirit being the author of scripture, then witnesses to us as we read the word.
And we see examples of that in the Bible where it tells us, for example, in Hebrews about an event that the Bible had told about Christ’s death for our sins and how that the Holy Spirit, I’m going to read verse 15 now. I’ll read verse 14 first. It says, by one offering, by one offering Christ has perfected forever them that are sanctified. Hebrews 10, 14. Then it says in verse 15, where of the Holy Spirit also is a witness to us, for after that he hath said before.
And then it quotes from Jeremiah 31 that talks about the same incident. So Christ died one time to pay for our sins and the Holy Spirit, as we read the Bible, witnesses to us, as he said before, back in Jeremiah, the very same event that we read about in Hebrews 10. So it’s exciting to see how the Holy Spirit then becomes one who dwells on our body. So it says in verse 16, verse 23, No you not, that you are the temple of God, and that the spirit of God dwelleth in you.
Now that’s not true of an unbeliever. The unbeliever or the world cannot receive the Holy Spirit, but the believer does receive the Holy Spirit at the instant of belief and possesses the Holy Spirit forever. That’s during this age from Pentecost to La Rapture. So hopefully that helps a little bit, but we have two spirits for this, our spirit and the spirit of God. We now have Arthur in Bell Glades, Florida, down near Lake Okeechobee in Florida. Arthur, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air.
Good morning, Dr. Laff. I have two questions I would like to ask, actually. The first question is your company, can you explain to me, why do preachers, most preachers, do not pre-chown suffer for Christians and teach like sin and everything that they teach is called to a spot sprayer to you and God would bless you with materialistic things? He is spreading it to me why this is going on in this day of time. Well I can tell you it’s because they’re not in their Bibles.
You know it’s interesting that this is a new fad it seems that has come along. Preaching 50-100 years ago didn’t do that. So this is obviously preachers coughing preachers and they’re not listening to the word of God. Because the Bible says, yay in 1 Timothy 3, all that will live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. So if you’re going to live godly, you’re going to have persecution. It never talks about having wealth or health or prosperity. Although God may bless you with those things, that is not promised at all.
We are promised that we might suffer for Christ. James talks about suffering. Peter talks about suffering. And you’ll find throughout the Bible that Christians suffered that lived for Christ. And if you read Paul’s letters, wow, he was shipwrecked and he was beaten and thrown into prison. and you know just about everything. They threw stones out of the Mount side of the city of Lister and dragged his body that they assumed was dead out on the garbage pile outside the city of Lister.
So if you’re going to serve the Lord you’re going to have trouble and nowhere does it say everything’s going to go well and that you’re just going to be healthy and wealthy and prosperous. That’s a false message today and a lot of preachers are caught up in it because they come rich and I guess that’s what the bottom line is after earthly riches. Okay, in my second question, can you explain to me about why today churches don’t have love?
Do you think that’s because it’s not being taught of this part of what God said we was living in the last days? Well, as a sign of the end times, you know, the Bible says in Matthew 24 where the love of many will grow cold and I think that that’s exactly at first Timothy 3 tells us how that men would become lovers of self and not lovers of others. So they would care only about themselves, be very selfish and not love others and we see that happening every day and Arthur, sure good to hear from you down there in Belgway, Florida.
We’re going to break and so we’ll have to come back after the break and talk again. But everybody stay tuned. Don’t change that radio dial. This is Bibleline. I’m Dr. Englund’s from it. We’re coming to you live from Tampa, Florida from our studios here at the Calvary Community Church where I’m the pastor and we look forward to being with you. And I think you’ll be blessed. So you’re welcome. We’d love to have you come. You’re most welcome to be a part of that. I want to thank again all of those that give and pray for Bible and because you’re the lifeblood.
We are totally 100% listed, supported. We don’t have any pledges, any subscribers. We don’t have a piggy bank. We don’t have a reserve account. We really just simply trust God. And you know, he’s raised up people just like you who enjoy the program and would like to be a part and invest in this ministry. You know the Bible talks about laying up treasures in heaven. Maybe we don’t talk about it enough. But Christ said, don’t lay up for yourselves treasures here upon the earth where moths eat it up and rust the corrupts it and thieves break through and steal it.
But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven where none of those things happen. Do you know what the crime rate is in heaven? Zero. There are no crimes committed in heaven. And so nobody’s going to steal your treasure. If you lay up treasures in heaven, they’re safe and secure forever. And the Bible says God gives us these treasures because they’re an incentive. It says where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Isn’t that true? You know where your treasure is.
That’s where your heart is. Whether that be material or other things. And the Bible wants us to be heavenly minded, our thoughts to be heavenward. God does that by saying, I’m going to have treasure for you for living for me. So as we live for Christ, it’s an incentive to keep our eyes focused on the Lord and on heavenly things. And you can invest your time and your talent and your treasures and earn rewards in heaven. That has got to be exciting.
I love the verse in Philippians. Paul talked to the Philippian believers about giving. in Philippians 4 17, he says, not that I desire a gift. He’s saying very plainly, I’m not trying to get your money. So if you’re giving an offering because you think I’m giving you money, I’m trying to get your money, that’s totally wrong, Paul says. But he says, I desire fruit that may abound your account. Well, I’ll never forget discovering that verse as a young believer.
It just changed everything for me because I thought everybody had their hands out and we’re just trying to get my money. And I realized according to the Bible that as I gave to a work that was producing fruit, that that fruit would be my fruit too, that it would accrue to my account as I gave to the things of the Lord. So I got excited, you know, because, well, what a difference. And I believe if you give toward Bible and to keep this program on the air and expand it, we reach people allDrafthe the place.
that that fruit will be your fruit. And when you get to heaven, you’re gonna share with me and all of our staff. The very fruit that we bear from this program, because you’re a real part of it. As you give, that’s how it works. And that’s biblical. Philippians 4.17. Write it down, even memorize it. It’s a great verse because we need to be investing wisely to bring about the maximum return on our investment. Our investment really ought to be where things are happening for God through his word God blesses his word and in Psalm 138 verse 2 it says he exalts his word even above his name in that exciting So we tried to use the word of God throughout the program because we know God exalts his word and we see the results in people getting saved and And we had a fellow this
Sunday tell us that beginning at five years old he was active in church and had active positions in church all of his life and several different churches over that over that period of time and at 76 From 5 to 76 at 76 he trusted Christ through Bibleline Isn’t that amazing? Wow, look at all the churches that failed him over those many years. For 71 years, all the churches that he was involved with failed him. He never knew how to go to heaven.
But at 76, he has come to know Jesus as his Savior through Bible. It’s just overwhelming. And I hear it all the time. We had a nice note from our fellow a week ago. 41 years old raised in church all his life. He said he got saved just a couple of weeks ago by listening to Bible and so thank God for what he’s doing through this radio program and you can be a part and I want to thank you in advance for making a gift to Bible and you can do it by credit card over the phone you can do it by mail our prayers will be glad if you call that 800 number to tell you our dress or send you an envelope with our dress on it, but would you consider being a part of the Bible-ion family and support the program with your prayers and with your
gifts. No gift is too small. If you can give a larger gift, it would be appreciated. And obviously we can do more with a greater amount. But we don’t pay any salaries. I don’t get paid to be on this program. We do this because we want to get the message out and hopefully you want to be a part of that. So I’ll be quiet about that and go to the phone lines. But I’m Dr. Englund’s firm and this is Bible and we do need your support.
We do need your help to be able to accomplish what we want to do here for God in these last days. We’re going to Henry in Richmond, Virginia. you’re in welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Yes, I’m going. All right, you’re on the air. Oh, okay, good morning. Good morning. Yes, this is James. I’m calling from the statement that you said at the beginning of your program that the blood of Jesus all the matter save him. But I’ll apply for that.
Don’t you need to be baptized with the name of the false son and all the ghosts and all the ghosts you need to act God. You know you sin. I just can’t walk around every day and sin and sin and die. And just because the blood of Jesus saved me that will have a try and get help. Is that right or wrong? Well you’re wrong. The only way you’re saved is by trusting Christ and that doesn’t mean that you’re going to be able to live sin free.
believer still sins. And if you say you don’t sin, then the Bible says you’re deceiving yourself. 1 John the Apostle said, if we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. Now we can have victory over sin, but we can never live sin free. And once you trust Christ, you’re saved forever because He’s the one that saves us. But not only that, He’s the one that keeps us If you read 1 Peter 1 5 it says we are kept by the power of God.
We’re not kept by our own power or by our own strength or by our own deeds and we’re not saved by our works or by our deeds. It’s all of Christ. He’s the Savior. I love the hymn writer when he wrote that Jesus paid it all and sin had left the crimson stain. But he washed it as white as snow. So Christ completely wipes your slate clean and he pays for your past and your present. In your future sins, when you trust that Christ died for you, what He did it across, He paid for every sin you’d ever commit in your whole lifetime.
He knew exactly when you’d be born, when you would die. And He paid for the sins of your entire lifetime. He didn’t pay for part of those sins, or the sins of until the time you believe, He paid for all of them. Now, you are not allowed to live as you please. You’ve got to discipline you if you are delinquent as a believer. discipline your life and you won’t get away with it. You might go to heaven early, you might even take your home to heaven early, but you’re still saved once you trust Christ.
Okay, I’ll hear you. Thank you sir. All right. Thank you so much Henry. I, you know, I got saved and the Lord began to interfere in my life. I didn’t realize all these things from the Bible at the beginning, but I did trust the Lord. I didn’t serve the Lord. My first whole year, I was a secret believer. Nobody knew. I kept it a secret from everybody. Nobody had a clue that I had trusted Christ. But God knew, and He followed me up.
I was at the University of Florida. I was a freshman. And, you know, God, during that year, worked on me. He brought me to a place where I got on my knees and I dedicated my life to Christ and said, I’ll live for you and serve you the rest of my life and I’ve been doing it ever since that moment. I chose deliberately to serve Christ. That’s a second decision. We are saved when we trust Christ. But when we dedicate our lives or commit our lives or whatever term you want to use to serve us, that’s a second decision.
And it’s a lifelong decision that every believer ought to make. And I didn’t realize it had become a preacher, but I said Lord I’ll serve you and I’ll witness and I’ll tell other people about you and that’s what I began to do. And you know I was amazed at how many people really wanted to know and I let a lot of guys to Christ in the dormitory at the University of Florida. Then they came to me and asked me if I would teach you a Bible study and I said I don’t know anything about the Bible.
I said I don’t think that’s a good idea. And they said yeah you’re the one that led us to Christ. the one that ought to be teaching us. And so I took the challenge and began to study. And the Bible study grew from two people to as many as 50. Once a week we had to move out to meet in a professor’s home there at the University of Florida. And we had a lot of young men that got saved.
And many of them went off into ministry. One of them is a professor right now, Dallas Theological Seminary, Dr. Aubrey Melfers, I led to Christ, and he went on to go and become a professor and author at Dallas Theological Seminary. I’ve got people all over the country and all over the world on five continents that are serving the Lord that I have led to Christ and mentored and challenged. I have a lot of fruit and a lot of people out there serving the Lord as a result.
But it’s not a license to sin that the fact that we’re safe forever. I could have chosen not to and I would have lost out on the blessings and had God spanking me the rest of my life. But I chose to serve him and get in on his blessings. Thank you, Henry, for calling in from Richmond, Virginia. We have some anonymous questions. We might as well go ahead and take some of those, not anonymous, but he all fair questions.
And the first one is David in Tampa, Florida, says, if we trust in Jesus’ work of cleansing the Jerusalem temple, would that be making heaven by symbolically doing away with money? Not too sure if I understand the question, but What was happening there when Christ cleansed the temple of the money changers was that they were cheating the people. They were cheating them in two ways. When you came to the temple, you came to offer a sacrifice. Well you couldn’t offer the sacrifice you brought from your home, so you had to buy their sacrifice at a great markup.
In other words, you got gypped. Then you couldn’t buy it with your money. You had to trade your money in for temple money. And there they got you one more time. So they cheated you two ways. And Christ was very upset with that. So it has nothing to do with that at all. And heaven, of course, is a gift. It’s paid for by Christ and has nothing to do with whether you have money or don’t have money or how you spend your money.
It has nothing to do with works. So David, I hope I’m answering your question. I’m not sure that I have the question there. Keith in Richmond, Virginia. Could you please give me some insight on the Ministry of TDJ’s? All I can tell you is I believe it’s Pentecost lovely or in the gifts and of course that is they’re ceased and they’re not around for today. So I would listen very carefully to whoever you listen to but it’s Pentecostal and generally they believe you can lose your salvation and they preach gifts which I’ve already been done away with.
So Keith I hope that helps Thomas and St. Petersburg. Should a Christian be buried or cremated according to the Bible? Well you notice throughout the Bible they buried in as a picture, as a testimony that they believed in the resurrection. And even Christ’s body was placed in the tomb. And then of course he came back into that body and resurrected it and that’s the picture. But it doesn’t affect your salvation. And today it’s some costly to have a burial that many have gone to cremation and it doesn’t affect your salvation.
So I think that if you’re making a statement that you don’t believe in life after your death, that would be wrong. But I don’t think people are making that statement and I don’t think anybody even makes that connection anymore because it’s just a matter of economics today. It won’t affect your salvation or your resurrection as a believer. You’ll certainly go to be with the Lord. Again, this is Bible line. I’m Dr. England Striman. We’re right now taking some of the off-air questions that have been left.
We have anonymous, I don’t know what city, but it says if a Christian couple want to divorce and there’s no biblical reason for it. Will they be punished by God somehow? And of course, there’s always consequences whenever we break the rules. And of course, God says he hates divorce and if you get a divorce and there’s no biblical grounds, you will suffer consequences. But you’ll never go to hell. You’re still saved. You will not be lost because you’re saved forever.
As we said earlier, you’re not keeping yourself saved. We’re kept, 1 Peter 1 verse 5, by the power of God. And we’re held tight in Christ’s hand, and He will never let go. John 10, 28, and numerous other verses. So that’s exciting news, isn’t it? So once you trust the Lord, you are saved forever and ever and ever. So we have another caller here. Let’s see. His name is Sam and he’s in Lickland and Sam welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air.
Hello, how you doing now? Good. I enjoy y’all program and everything. I like to give a question and then a comment, a comment and then a question. I was listening to a lot of people call on by losing their salvation and somehow that was what I was understanding, he said, there’s only two people who qualified to die a Leo. And it seemed like people don’t understand that they can’t die once they already died, when they bone spirited their under bones and they need Jesus to bring them back alive and they don’t seem to understand that they can’t die when they’re in Jesus.
So I hear one day a lady said calling one day and she said you got to be holy and she was talking to you and she said well you in order to go to heaven you got to be out she used to my loosen up salvation and she said you have to be holy and I was thinking about the scriptures that when our God told the angels the the Lord, to take on the shoe because he was on Holy ground.
And the question was, where he took on the shoe, then took on the shoe. They still have been holding ground. It just matter being aware that he’s on Holy ground and he took off the shoe. The same thing about him would be lifting in your body. When he’s Jesus living in your body, he doesn’t want to make you a holy. And your body is still filthy. And it’s going to always be the sin part. And that’s why we have to die, to go to heaven, to call the body is so filthy.
So, people think that by them doing something, they’re calling them to go to lose the salvation, but the devil can’t be God doing anything. And the only thing he can do next with something that don’t belong to God, and the flesh is never to God. It’s only the Spirit, and the Spirit is the one making them, and God the one making the Spirit holy, and the flesh can always be what it is until it dies and make them new lives.
So, I have to come in and I like to give them. Thank you. Well, thank you, Sam, and you’re right. you die, it says in Hebrews 927, then you will stand before the God. It’s the point of the limit once to die and then the judgment. And so once you Hi, it’s too late. But once you’re a believer, you cannot ever be lost because God is the one that keeps you safe. We have Benjamin in Clearwater and Benjamin, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air.
Thank you very much. I just want to know the difference in 1 Corinthians 3, 16, talk about the temple of our body. But also in 2 Corinthians 6, talk about the temple. I would like to know If one of those temple is our body and the other temple is our church body. Will you please can you claim to me? I will take a look at it. We’re going to go over to 2 Corinthians and look at the verse that he’s referring to in 2 Corinthians chapter 6.
It says in verse 16, what agreement has the temple of God with idols for you are the temple? So again, it’s talking about your body being his temple. And we should not worship idols, and we shouldn’t do things that defile this temple, which is the temple of God, the Holy Spirit, that dwells within us. So once you trust Christ, you’re safe forever, because the Holy Spirit is gonna be with you. Christ said he would abide with you forever. So that means that if you somehow went to hell, the Holy Spirit would have to go to hell with you.
It’s just not gonna happen. once you become saved, you’re saved forever. Off there, we have Joe in Miami, Florida called in a few minutes ago with this off-air question. He said, I need references in the Bible where Christians should pay their bills. Too sure what he means about that. Now, if you mean where you should pay to give to the Lord, you need to give where God is blessing you. And so you need to, if it’s your local church, then that’s where you have to give.
And if you don’t have a local church, then whatever ministry is ministering to you. But definitely someplace where the doctrine is correct and the word of God is going forth and people getting saved and people are choosing to live for Christ and are being impacted by God’s word. So Joe, I’m not really sure about what you mean paying their bills, but Chris is definitely ought to give to the Lord. And I think it’s something effective is being done where the Bible is honored and Christ is preached.
And that’s where I would do my giving. We have Alison in Sharon Springs, New York. And she calls in with this off air question. He says a reference to salvation in Matthew 6. It says, if you don’t forgive them, God can’t forgive you. That in Matthew 6 is talking, Alison, about the Christian life. And so definitely we need to recognize that if we have attitudes of unforgiveness or pride or other things, it obviously hinders our Christian life. And it doesn’t mean that you’re not going to go to heaven.
you trust Christ, you are forgiven, period of all of your sins past, present and future. But this passage there about forgiving others and then being forgiven has to do with the Christian life and has to do with rewards in your relationships with other people. So you have to separate between salvation which is a gift. Now this is a part of what is called the Lord’s Prayer and remember this one begins our Father which are in heaven. Only a Christian can pray that.
Only somebody who’s already been saved, because God is not the Father of an unbeliever. God is our Creator, we’re His creation, but we are not God’s children until we become born again. And this is talking about life within the family as a believer that we need to be forgiving of others, or God will have to deal with us about our spirit of unforgiveness, if that makes any sense to you. All right, we have Mark in Glendale, Arizona, calling in, and he leaves this off-air question.
He says, I’m starting to get the impression that eternal life and the kingdom of God, maybe even the kingdom of heaven, are not all specifically the same thing. How might I rightly divide this? The Schofield reference bible that I use has some wonderful notes that will help you, but the kingdom of God is encompassing everything it is under God’s authority and control, all of God’s creation. The Kingdom of Heaven is a reference to the Millennium, the thousand year rule where The heavens will rule over the earth and Christ will actually be here on the earth, ruling over the earth, and we’re going to come back with him and help him rule and reign.
Eternal life is totally again separate and that is, of course, the fact that once we trust Christ, we will live forever with God wherever he resides. So that’s a little bit of a summary, but Mark, you’re absolutely right and rightly dividing is very important. And I recommend the Scofield Reference Bible. The notes are Excellent. We have it here in our resource center. If you go out to your bookstores, they’re going to try to say the new one. You don’t want to get that.
Okay, we have Walter in Lansing, Michigan. And he says, which view is right? Pre-tribulation or post-tribulation of rapture. And the answer is pre-trib. The Bible says the next event is the rapture, not the tribulation. It says in 1st Thessalonians 1 10, we’re to wait for Christ to come from heaven to deliver us from the wrath to come. from the wrath to come. So the post-tribulational position is wrong. I think just that one verse would answer it. 1 Thessalonians 1-10, Walter in Lansing, Michigan.
Wow, we’re out of time. If you haven’t trusted Christ, you need to do that and keep looking up. Jesus is coming. I gotta run, but we’ll be back tomorrow. God, well done.
