Perhaps you could even start a small group Bible study based on the lessons taught.

In the current teaching series, we will cover a variety of topics related to the events leading up to and surrounding the resurrection of Jesus, including topics such as the wages of sin, everlasting life, the triumphant entry, Palm Sunday, the Passover, the crucifixion and burial of Jesus, and of course the resurrection of Jesus. If you missed any of the teachings in this series, just give our resource center a call at 1-800-576-3771. Now join us for Dr. Lindstrom’s teaching for today.

I don’t know what it does to you, but when I can go back to the book of Exodus and see the story of what happened that week, outlined so clearly, so plainly, and it falls boom, boom, boom, right into place, you know that God has to be the author of this book. There is no book like this. We are in the last days, right now there is more of an attack, I think, on Christianity that… that I’ve seen in a long time, National Geographic will have a special on the book of Judas.

When did Judas write that thing? You know he committed suicide, he didn’t have a whole lot of time to sit down the script, a lot of manuscript. Of course it’s claiming to be written hundreds of years later. But even if Judas did write it, would you believe what he had to say? Obviously the man who would betray Jesus? Would you believe anything that this man would write? I wouldn’t. And obviously it diverts totally from the Scriptures. And it’s an attack upon Christ and upon the Bible.

The book of Judas says that the end of the disciples worshiped lesser gods, but Judas in Christ had a special relationship and that Judas knew who Jesus really was and that Jesus had a special deal with Judas and they had a plan. If you buy into this kind of stuff, you’re absolutely crazy. I mean, this is what is happening today where the Bible says that churches even would depart away from sound doctrine and give their ears over to fiction.

And I’ve never seen so much fiction coming out as I do today than ever before. The Da Vinci Code, a movie, Tom Hanks, playing a port and roll. All fiction, the book is advertised as fiction, but it’s contrary to the Bible and why would you want to even bother to go look at it? This is another attack upon Christ and this person and upon the scriptures and what the Bible has to say. Why would you want to be a part of that?

He said, I read in the paper, the churches across America were using the Chronicles of Narnia to guide them through Lent. I said, that’s a big joke. I mean, the Chronicles of Narnia were fiction and Lent is fiction. There’s no Lent in anybody’s Bible. Shake your Bible sometime. L-I-N-T might fall out. You’re not going to find any L-E-N-T in the Bible. It’s totally pagan. It has to do with Baal worship. And there’s not one reference to Lent in your Bible.

And so why do people of people who have been in the Bible? to fiction to guide them through fiction. Again, doesn’t anybody think about the Scriptures as being the text we need to go to? It’s a fiction day. And they shall turn away their ears from the truth and be turned into fiction. It says in 2 Timothy 4, 3 and 4. We’re watching that happen today. The Bible is true, and it obviously is a book that demonstrates it has to be true.

It has to be written by God. Let’s go over now to Matthew and we’ll see this wonderful passage and it tells us here that Christ comes down the slopes of the Mount of Olives. It says here in verse 4 of Matthew chapter 21, page 1028, if you have the right kind of Bible. If you don’t have the right kind of Bible, we’re talking about an old skill-feel-referenced Bible. I’m putting pressure on you to make sure you get into a good study Bible.

It says that all of this was done, and it might be what? Fulfilled, fulfilled, fulfilled. That was just spoken by the prophet saying, and now it quotes from Zachariah, the prophet that tells of this event as Christ comes down the slopes of the Mount of Olives. you the daughter of Zion, the whole Viking cometh unto the meek and sitting upon an ass, the colt, the full of an ass. That’s an amazing prophecy. Let’s take a look, just two books to your left from Matthew and look at Zechariah and definitely it’s well worth marking in your Bible.

In Zechariah chapter 9 it says on page 9 In 1773, rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion. Daughter of Zion, referring to those descendants later, living in Jerusalem, that would actually be living to experience that. As Zechariah writes to a group that would not be living when that would take place, but he writes about the future and he says, rejoice greatly, Zechariah 9.9, O daughter of Jerusalem, Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem, Behold, My King, what? Cometh unto thee, He is just in having salvation lowly and riding upon an ass upon the colt the fold of an ass.”

An amazing thing that God had foretold these events in so many places, more than a coincidence that has to be the Word of God. Jerusalem is told to rejoice. Why the most significant event in history took place 2,000 years ago when Jesus came as God’s Lamb and offered himself up and died on the cross of Calvary to pay for the sins of the world. If Christ had not died, the whole human race would have gone to hell. There would have been no salvation at all.

The Prophet Zechariah talks about Jerusalem rejoicing on two occasions. This one was the first, but if you go back to Zechariah chapter 2, it talks about a future occasion, even though it’s written about earlier in Zechariah, where again Jerusalem is to rejoice. In Zechariah 2, 10, it says, Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion! descendants in the future of Israel living in Jerusalem, it says, for low I come and I will dwell in the midst of the saith the Lord.

That’s the second coming of Christ. When Christ will come back and dwell in Jerusalem, and Jerusalem again will rejoice. Right now Jerusalem is a city that’s greatly troubled isn’t it? And there’s a day coming though when Jerusalem will become the world’s capital and Jesus will rule over the earth. Verse 11 says, “‘Many nations shall be joined to the Lord in that day, and shall be my people. And I will dwell in the midst of thee, and thou shalt know that the Lord of hosts hath sent me unto thee.'”

It’s talking about Jesus coming back and ruling over the whole earth. Verse 13, “‘Be silent, O all flesh before the Lord, for he is raised up out of his holy habitation.'” There have been some hymns written about that, but they, hymn writers, didn’t get the picture here. This is talking about when Christ returns and he goes into the temple that will be rebuilt in Jerusalem that he will enter and cleanse and he will step forth out of that temple as he will rule the planet earth from Jerusalem and from that temple and it tells us here, be silent, everybody on the planet because the Creator himself is ruling the planet now.

And he shall reign for ever and ever and ever.” It shouldn’t break into song, but I can’t help but do that every now and then. Because it’s talking about when he will come back and rule and reign over this earth. And he will rule from Jerusalem. And so Matthew talks about this incredible event. And that Christ then would of course be crucified, but he would be buried. He’d come back from the dead. Let’s turn on to Matthew 12. But in Matthew 12, Jesus says in verse 40, as Jonah was three days and three nights in the Wales belly.

It should read Fish’s belly. The Greek word is not whale. I think the King James translators made it whale because they felt somehow that that would have been a more likely story if Jonah was to survive for three days and three nights. But obviously they missed that too didn’t they? Because Jonah died in the Fish’s belly. If you’ve read the book of Jonah, Jonah said that he went down to the very heart of the earth, that the earth with her bars was about me forever, that he was enclosed in the earth.

He was in shield is the Hebrew word which the only way you can get there is to die. That’s where the departed dead went until Jesus finally made the full payment for their sin at the Cross of Calvary. And so then God opened up Paradise and emptied that out. And now this side of the Cross when we die were absent from the body present with the Lord, but had you died in the Old Testament, you would have gone first to the heart of the earth.

like the dying thief. Christ said, today they’ll be with me in paradise. Jesus says in Matthew 1240 that the Son of Man would be three days and three nights where? In the center, the heart of the earth. And he went to the same place that Jonah went. And Jonah was a perfect picture of the death, the burial, and the resurrection of Christ. Jonah’s body was in the tomb of the fishes belly. Jonah went down into the heart of the earth.

72 hours later he comes back and his soul was placed back into that body and God raises that body back from the dead. You can see that in the book of Jonah that God raised his body back from corruption. His body began to corrupt. It was dead. And God resurrected that body and then Jonah got a nice ride to the shore and the fish fit him up whatever kind of fish it was, and then he walked on to Nineveh.

And the Bible tells us that Jonah was assigned to the people of Nineveh. When they saw him, they recognized that he’d come back from the dead. Can you imagine what it would have been like to see the body of Jonah after it had been in that stomach acid of the fish’s belly for 72 hours? I would imagine his skin was all bleached and wrinkled, that all the hair on his body had been dissolved off. There was probably no eyebrows, no eyelashes, nobody here anywhere on his body.

And he looked like a mess. And the people of Nineveh listened to Jonah. And Jesus, the same way, comes back out of the heart of the earth. is reunited with that body in the tomb and then shows himself alive and has the marks of his death the wounds in his body that show that clearly he had died What an interesting story. Little girl was witnessing to an agnostic one time and he was giving her a real hard time and he said I’m Little girl you probably even believe in the story of Jonah.

She says I sure do and when I get to heaven, I’m gonna talk to him about it. He says well, what if he’s not in heaven? She says well and you can talk to him about it the Facebook child held because she believed that Christ was real, the Bible was real, and we ought to as well. So Jesus said here as Jonah was three days and three nights in the fish’s deli. That’s why we believe Christ had to rise on Saturday sundown.

Now some people try to shorten that up somehow and I had a person spend considerable time on the phone trying to argue that point with me this week. And I said, before you just go any further, let me give you a couple of problems to deal with. Turn if you hold a mark 8, Matthew mark chapter 8 verse 31. Jesus said long before he went to the cross, mark 831, he began to teach them that the Son of man must suffer many things and be rejected of the elders and of the chief priest and scribes and be killed.

And I want you to note something here in this passage in several I could share with you, but it says after three days he would rise again. For all those people who want to say that it’s a part of a day and a part of a night and a part of it isn’t a part of it at. There is no way you can get around this. There’s no wiggle room when he says after the three days, he would rise again.

It’s interesting. And there are numerous ones that say after. Others say he rose on the third day. The only way that can be reconciled is if Jesus Christ rises at the split second, that the third ends and the fourth begins. Only we can reconcile that. The only thing we can be on the third day and on the fourth or after the three is if it’s right at that split second. And that is, I believe, exactly 72 hours after he’s placed in the grave.

Keith, welcome to Bibleline. You’re on the Bibleline program. Thank you. The question I have is about the book of Revelation chapter 2 and 3 where it talks about the seven churches where Paul writes. I might as well explain it, we’re studying in my church and you’re talking about how he has something in favor of the churches and something against them. The question I have is how does that relate to the churches today? Well, you know those seven churches there were seven literal churches that did exist as John the Apostle wrote around AD 96 as Christ gave him a message for each of the seven churches.

But also they are Representative of seven different types of churches, and we have churches around like each of those today. But the bigger picture is it’s a prophetic picture of church history over the past 2000 years. And the church at Ephesus represented the 1st century church. The church at Smyrna represented the 2nd and 3rd century church. The church at Pergaments represented the church from the 4th century until about the 8th century. The Church at Thyroid Tier represented the Dark Ages there from about the 800s on up to about the time of the Reformation.

The Church at Sardis represented the Reformation period and we find that the Church at Philadelphia represented the great time of evangelism of about the 18th century and beginning of the 19th. And then the last Church, the Church of Laodicea, represents the Luke Warm Church of Today, where not a whole lot is getting done and God is kind of disappointed. In fact, he says this church of the last days makes him want to throw up. So he’s not too pleased.

And obviously the church is based more upon materialism than spiritual things. And so he says that they think that they’re rich, but actually they’re poor spiritually and naked and blind. And he counsels them to have rewards in heaven by coming back and serving him and living for for him and buying up gold that will be with him forever in heaven. And so it’s a beautiful picture and obviously we are in the Laodicean church age right now and you can look back over church history and you can see how it fits like a glove.

I have a 12 hour teaching on Revelation verse by verse and we go through all of this and point out church history and it’s correlation to the seven churches and it’s really quite an amazing look at how this last church at the end of it, in chapter 4 verse 1 of Revelation we have a picture of the Rapture where John says he hears a voice and of course the voice of Christ. He says, come up hither and John is caught up and he’s then shown the things that are going to happen after this present church age, the things which must be here after according to chapter 4 verse 1 of the book of Revelation.

And the church is no longer mentioned in the book of Revelation from that point on. So the church has been raptured out chapter 4 verse 1 and then you’re in the tribulation period between chapters 4 and 19 and then chapter 20 is the Millennial Kingdom. Six times it mentions a thousand-year Kingdom chapters 21 and 22. Brent then take us into eternity. We have a new heavens, a new earth and that’s kind of a real brief outline of the book of Revelation.

Okay, great. Thanks very much for You’re welcome, Keith, and it’s a great study when you get into that book. No doubt about it. God promises a blessing to those that read and take heed to the things that are taught in that book. Thank you. Thank you, Keith, and that was Keith calling in from Seminole, Florida. Now we’re going to go to Daisy in Bill Glades, Florida. Daisy, welcome to Bibleline your On The Earth. Yes, my queen, wife, it’s of another nation or the field.

Good question. That was his sister. We find that the murder took place when Cain and Abel were about 125 years of age and so they weren’t kids out back in the sandbox behind the house and by that time it’s estimated there must have been about a hundred and or two hundred thousand people on the earth by that time. Lots of time had taken place there and we find that he married one of his sisters. In fact, Cain said when he was banished to the land of not everyone find it me shall slay me so there was a lot of people around and he took his wife with him he was already married but he knew her in the land of not that spoke about sexual intercourse and she conceived and bear children there in the land of not we hope that you have learned with us by listening to the question and answer

Don’t go away. Bibleline will be back in a moment. To pledge your support for Bibleline, give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. It’s 1-800-576-3771. Well this is Bible, Adam Dr. Englund, so we’re gonna get into the Bible for a few minutes. If you have your Bible there, get it out.

We’ll be talking about the Bible, and of course, no doubt about it. We’re living in a most incredible time. I wanna turn over to Matthew chapter 24, and Jesus here warned about what would take place after the Rapture, during the Tribulation period, and how we must be extremely close to that time. The first warning that Jesus gives is in verse 4, Matthew 24, and he says, take heed that no man deceive you. Obviously, the last days would be characterized by deception.

It seems like new cults and new false belief systems are multiplying every day. It was over 100 years ago when we had a few cults come along, the Joe’s Witnesses, the Seventh-Dad Venice, and the Mormons, and many others. But now there are thousands and thousands of new ones cropping up all the time. And so Jesus warns about deception. And the only way to know whether you’re deceived or not is to know your Bible well. If you’re in the Bible, you’ll be able to detect false beliefs.

And then it says in verse 5, for many shall come in my name, saying I am Christ and deceive many. For many, many years I taught that this was there would be those who would come along and claim that they were the Messiah. And we have people like that and they have their followings. There’s a fellow down in Miami, Florida who claims that he’s Jesus. can actually go visit him and people worship him and give money to him. He lives a very opulent life, but he’s not Jesus.

There’s another guy down in Miami that claims he is Yahweh, that he’s God. In fact, I was driving down the interstate one day and Yahweh passed me. I saw an entourage of white Cadillacs and it said Yahweh on the side of the lead car, apparently God drove right by me on the interstate. Well there’s a lot of that, but I don’t believe this is what it’s talking about. It says here, many shall come in my name. I believe it’s talking about many different groups or denominations or organizations that name the name of Christ and they recognize that Christ is the Messiah, but yet they deceive many with a false message.

I think this is most of what is called Christianity Today. Even the cults claim that they are coming in the name of Christ. The Mormons, for example, say that they are the church of the Latter-day Saints of Jesus Christ. They’re not even close to being Christian and yet they claim to be the saints of the Latter-day’s of Jesus Christ. And the Jehovah’s Witnesses claim that they are Christian and so on and so on. And yet they are not, and yet they deceive many with their doctrines.

And there are obviously many that it seem to be mainstream are also just as false because they teach works are necessary for salvation, and that salvation is obtained by what we do. Sometimes in addition to what Christ did, sometimes almost apart from what Christ did. But we know the Bible is very clear that eternal life is the gift of God. It’s received by faith and faith alone in trusting what Jesus Christ did for us at the cross. The Bible says that Ephesians 2,8, salvation is not of yourself, it’s the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast.

So we here in Matthew 24 are warned about the deception of the last days that there would be many. It was a wonderful letter that we received from the Bible, and obviously we are seeing that today. And obviously if you read Matthew 7, it talks about many, which are the ones that are mentioned here in this Matthew 24, will stand before Christ and brag about what they have done in the name of Christianity, or Christ. And yet Christ says to them, I never knew you.

because they were boasting or bragging about what they were doing for God or Christ that would bring about their salvation. Matthew 722 says, Many will stand before me at that day and that’s talking about the great white throne judgment when the lost are going to be cast into hell. If you miss any of the teachings in this series, just give our resource center a call at 1-800-576-3771. His join is now as we return to Dr. Lynchham’s teaching for today. Little Girl was witnessing to an agnostic one time and he was giving her a real hard time and he said, little girl you probably even believe in the story of Jonah. She says, I sure do and when I get to heaven I’m going to talk to him about it.

He says, well what if he’s not in heaven? She says, well then you can talk to him about it. the faith of a child because she believed that Christ was real, the Bible was real, and we ought to as well. So Jesus said here as Jonah was three days and three nights in the fish’s belly, that’s why we believe Christ had to rise on Saturday Sunday. Some people try to shorten that up somehow and I had a person spend considerable time on phone trying to argue that point with me this week.

And I said before you just go any further, let me give you a couple of problems to deal with. Turn if you hold a mark 8, Matthew Mark 8 verse 31 Jesus said long before he went to the cross Mark 831. It began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected of the elders and of the chief priests and scribes and be killed. And I want you to note something here in this passage in several I could share with you, but it says, after three days, he would rise again.

For all those people who want to say that it’s a part of a day and a part of a night and a part of it isn’t a part of that. There’s no way you can get around this. There’s no wiggle room when he says after the three days He would rise again It’s interesting and there are numerous ones that say after others say he rose on the third day The only way that can be reconciled is if Jesus Christ rises at the split second That the third ends and the fourth begins Only we can reconcile that.

The only way we can be on the third day and on the fourth, or after the three, is if it’s right at that split second. And that is, I believe, exactly 72 hours after he’s placed in the grave. Remember what Christ said in Matthew 1240, as Jonah was three days and three nights in the fishes’ belly, social as Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. And I take it that that is exactly 72 hours to the second.

And if you’d come back three seconds early, it’d be on the third day. But if you came back four seconds late, it’d be on the fourth day. And you wouldn’t be able to reconcile on the third day and after three days unless it’s on the money. And that’s the kind of Bible we have, which I believe is exactly that way. I think it means exactly what it says, that it’s a literal Bible, as we have been talking about part of the series, that Christ took the Bible to be very literal.

And he said every letter and every marking of a letter would have known why it’s passed from the scripture till all of it was fulfilled in Matthew 5 17. Every marking and every letter of the Hebrew Bible would be literally fulfilled. Jesus Christ would come back from the dead exactly as the Bible said that He would, and as a fulfillment of the prophecy. I want you to go now over to Peter where Peter talks about Jesus and his death and this will be over at the end of your Bible, page 1312.

The nice thing about having the same Bible in a situation like this is that we can quickly find the same passage and be reading it from the same text and we can obviously make some progress as we study. In 1 Peter 1, Peter says in verse 18, for as much as you know, he doesn’t say hope or guess or perhaps or maybe, and the Bible never does by the way, but Peter says, for as much as you know that you were not redeemed with corrupt old things such as silver and gold from your vain behavior received by tradition from your fathers, but verse 19, how were we redeemed.

It says, but with the precious blood of Christ. And you might want to mark verse 19, what a great verse. With the precious blood of Christ as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. Not a great verse. Peter refers here to Jesus being that lamb of God and he would be the lamb that would be without blemish. The The Lamb that was selected out from among the sheep and the goats. The Lamb that would be examined to be found without blemish.

The Lamb that would be slain by the whole congregation of Israel at the evening, which is at three in the afternoon. And Jesus died exactly like the Bible said he would. Verse 20 says, who was barely foreordained before the foundation of the world? But the Manifest were made known in these last times for you. had designed the plan of Christ’s death long before the earth was created. We see pieces of it unfolding as we just read in the book of Exodus.

One of the passages in John’s Gospel, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, and we find that in John’s gospel, Jesus comes before Pilate and Pilate says, I find no fault in him in verse 6. In verse 14… It was the preparation of the Passover, about the sixth hour, that is 6 a.m. in the morning, when Pilate says to the Jews, Behold your king, and look at what it says here. Behold, they cried out, away with him, away with him, crucify him.

Verse 15, Pilate saith unto them, Shall I crucify your king? And the chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar. Notice the leadership here came together to slay the Lamb and the decree is made. He is taken and nailed to the cross of Calvary and at three o’clock in the afternoon, in the evening of the Passover, he dies. Verse 31, the Jews therefore, because it was the preparation that the body should not remain upon the cross on the Sabbath day.

If you just read that much you would think that Christ was crucified on Friday because it mentions the Sabbath day which is Saturday. But notice in parentheses it says that Sabbath day was a high day. This was one of the high holy days that God had given to Israel. Seven feast days all detailed in Leviticus chapter 23 and each of those were considered a Sabbath and so the Passover was a Sabbath on Thursday of that week. And so it says that Sabbath was not an not a usual day but it was a high holy day for Israel and so they besought Pilate that their legs might be broken that they might be taken away.

And that’s because a person dying of crucifixion ultimately dies of supplication because they cannot breathe. When you’re suspended in this manner the feet spiked together at the bottom, every Every breath was excruciating in pain because you had to push your whole body weight up to thrust your body up, fill your lungs, slump down and exhale. And every breath was this way until the person being crucified became exhausted and couldn’t push up and they suffocated. To speed it up, they would break the legs of those being crucified.

And so notice they’d be sought pilot that their legs might be broken. They would go out with like a baseball bat so the soldiers came to the first thief and they wound up crack right across their knees. Their knees are broken. They can’t push up anymore and so they suffocate quickly and the two thieves died just in that manner. They couldn’t push up anymore. It says in verse 32, then came the soldiers and they broke the legs of the first.

swing that big plank across their knees and break their legs. And then the other, but when they came to Jesus verse 33 and saw that he was dead already, it didn’t break his legs. Now notice the Bible says in verse 36, these things were done that the scripture should be fulfilled. A bone of him shall not be broken. Look how close it came that Christ might have had a bone broken, but they didn’t even break a bone. Amazing the prophecies and how literally they were fulfilled.

They came very close to breaking the legs of Christ, but he was dead before the two thieves died. Then also then the soldier, verse 34, one of the soldiers with the spear, pierced his side and forth with there came out blood and water.” It says in verse 37, another scripture was fulfilled that they should look on him whom they pierced. Sakurai talked about how you’d be pierced and hear the Roman soldier fulfill that part by piercing his side. Interesting, isn’t it?

It says here that blood and water, apparently, is indicated because the blood plasma separates out from the platelets here after he had already died. And the picture back in the Exodus was they would take hissip and apply the blood of the lamb on their door post. And hissip was a watery plant and as they would thrash the side of the door with the blood, the water from the hissip would be there to it. It was a picture of the blood and the water of Christ’s death.

It’s amazing how many details are somewhat hidden, and yet they’re right there for us to see the picture, the fine details of what would happen later when the Lamb of God would be slain to pay for the sins of the world. Pilate, when Jesus gave him no answer, verse 9, verse 10, Pilate said unto him, Speakest thou not unto me, knowest thou not that I have power to crucify you and I have the power to release you? Look at verse 11.

Jesus answered and said, Thou couldest have no power at all against me except that we’re given thee from above. You know, tell me a different picture than I had as a child of what happened at the cross or in the events that preceded it. Christ maybe was frightened and and ran from the soldiers or whatever Notice he stands before pilot and says pilot you don’t have any power at all If Jesus had not wanted to die There is no one that could have taken his life And the bottom line is that is that he gave his life Because he loved you and me he died because he came for that purpose to die for your sins and mine.

And there’s no army. They could have taken him. There’s no one that could have forced him. He voluntarily gave his life to die for you and for me. Jesus Christ is God. And order be saved, you simply need to trust him. It’s so amazing. The gospel is so corrupted today by so many where so many imply that something of self is involved. But there’s nothing for us to do. Jesus did it all. That’s why I like that hymn. Jesus paid it all.

All to Him I owe. Sin had left a crimson stain, but He washed it as white as No. Time and time again I hear preachers imply there’s something you have to do. When Jesus has done it all, all the preparations have been made. All the arrangements have been completed. Everything was done. And on the cross Jesus said it is finished. It’s an accounting term that means paid in full. It’s a done deal. Christ did everything in making it possible for you in our heaven.

Our part is to simply receive it. We hope that you have enjoyed today’s teaching from the Resurrection Series by Dr. Hank Lindstrom, and we’ll join us next time as we continue this series. We now have George in Venice, Florida, and George, welcome to Bibleline. Yes, thank you, Dr. Hank. My question is in regards to after the Lord had risen and he appeared to the disciples, he still had the scars on his hands and in his side. But in regards to that, when he met the two men on the road, I always wondered if maybe Maybe they didn’t recognize him because if he had those scars, maybe also it said his face was, you know, he’s so badly beaten that his face was disfigured.

And maybe that’s why those guys didn’t recognize him. Do you think that’s possible? Well, I think it’s more than that. If you read Luke 24 16 that talks about that walk along the road to Emmaus, it says their eyes were holding that they should not know him. So God really kept them blinded here as this story I think was not only for their benefit but for ours as well. We learn from them what they were thinking. And Jesus interviews them and he says, why are you sad?

And then they tell the story about how Christ has been crucified and how they had hoped that he was the Messiah and so on and so on. And then he goes on to explain old fools and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken. And that is that Christ would have to die and suffer first. And then a second coming, he would come in his glory to bring peace on earth good will toward men. And so he lays out the plan and then of course their eyes were opened and the breaking of the bread and they recognized who he was.

That’s a great story. And I think verse 16 though is the answer to your question. Yeah. Okay. Well, great. Thank you. All right. Thank you. And that was George done in Venice, Florida. We have here, anonymous calling in from Tampa. Please comment on the fact that there’s no such thing as good Friday. Well, you’re absolutely right. Jesus could not have been crucified on Friday. And you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to figure that out. Jesus himself said he would be three days and three nights at 72 hours in the grave between his death and his resurrection.

And so therefore, if you can count forward, I’m sure you can count backward. If he comes back from the dead on the first day of the week and you count back one day, that would be Saturday. You count back two days that would be Friday. You count back three days that would be Thursday and Christ had to be crucified on Wednesday. So I call Wednesday of the Crucifixion Week, Good Wednesday and I call Friday of the Crucifixion Week, Plain Friday because there is no good Friday.

interesting is that around the world there are people that they call stigmatas that bleed vicariously in their hands and their feet and so on supposedly suffering vicariously the sufferings of Christ that he experienced on the cross and guess what if it was from God I believe that they would bleed on Wednesday but they bleed on the wrong day it tells me that obviously this is not from God at all. So I don’t buy into that. I think they really do bleed, but I don’t believe it’s from God because they bleed on the wrong day.

There’s no doubt about it. I have a chart that I have made up and we’ll send it out to you free if you like it, where I have gone through the whole crucifixion week and shown the scriptures and what time of day everything happens. And that has been a very, very popular item. So if you want the crucifixion chart that I made up, it took me years to develop. It has all the Scriptures, it has the times of day, it has all the whole week and how it all played out on the crucifixion week.

Just call in after the program and ask for the crucifixion chart and we’ll be happy to mail that to you for your chart. So take advantage of that. It’s kind of nice to, as we approach the time when we celebrate the death of the middle resurrection of Christ to have that chart to kind of go by to show what happened on each day. So thanks for calling in Mr. Anonymous and hopefully we answered that question for you. Thanks for listening to Bibleline today.

Be sure to tune in to another edition of Bibleline from Calvary Community Church in Tampa, Florida. Well, this is Bibleline. I’m Dr. Englunds. We’re going to get into the Bible for a few minutes. They teach works are necessary for salvation and that salvation is obtained by what we do. Sometimes in addition to what Christ did, sometimes almost apart from what Christ did. But we know the Bible is very clear that eternal life is the gift of God. It’s received by faith and faith alone in trusting what Jesus Christ did for us at the cross.

The Bible says that Ephesians 2-8, salvation is not of yourself. It’s the gift of God, not of works. Blessed any man should boast. So, we here in Matthew 24 are warned about the deception of the last days that there would be many that would deceive many, and obviously I think we’re seeing that today. And obviously if you read Matthew 7, it talks about many which I think are the ones that are mentioned here in this Matthew 24 will stand before Christ and brag about what they’ve done in the name of Christianity or Christ, and yet Christ says to them, I never knew you.

Why? Because they were boasting or bragging about what they were doing for God or Christ that would bring about their salvation. Matthew 722 says, Many will stand before me at that day, and that’s talking about the great white throne judgment when the lost are going to be cast into hell. And they’ll say, Lord, Lord, didn’t we preach in your name and heal in your name and do wonderful works in your name? And Christ says, I never knew you. Not I once knew you and I lost you, but I never knew you.

And the reason why is because, notice, they didn’t say, didn’t we trust that you died on the cross and shed your blood and paid our sin dead and full and were buried and it rose again from the dead? boasting and bragging about what they did, why we preached in your name and we healed in your name. And it would wonderful works in your name. And Christ said, I’m sorry, that’s the wrong answer. I never knew you, depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Are you saved? If you’re not sure right now of whether you would go to heaven or not, chances are you don’t really have it. You probably haven’t understood it because according to the Bible, eternal life is something that God has already purchased at the cross. And when you trust Christ, you receive it at the moment you believe in possess it forever thereafter. And the Bible says you can know that you’re saved. Not hope, not guess, not perhaps, but you can actually know.

Right now, I know that I have eternal life. I know that whenever I die I’ll go to heaven to be with the Lord. Why? Let me give you one great verse. 1 John 5, 13, these things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God that you may K-N-O-W. No, not hope, not guess. You can know that you have eternal life. If you’re genuinely saved, you can know. And the Bible, of course, on dozens of verses, gives us assurance so that we can know right now that we’re saved and saved forever.

I remember one of the… The book I read as a young Christian was called Full Assurance by Harry Ironsides. What a great book taking that quote from the book of Hebrews about how God wants us to have full assurance. To know that we’re saved, know why we’re saved, know that we’re saved eternally, that we can’t be cast out, that we cannot be lost, but it’s forever. that happens at the instant of belief. From that moment on, you are a child of God.

If you trust Jesus alone, as the one who fully and completely paid your sin net at the cross. I’m Dr. Eglinsfield, this is Bible Eye.
