Bibleline Radio Show – 2007-03-30 – Discipleship

Where do you stand? Are you a believer? Then you are saved! If you are saved you ought to serve, not to be saved (which is impossible), but serve because you are already saved (John 5:24). If you are a disciple of Christ, then you should be in pursuit of the goal of becoming a soul-winner (Matthew 4:19). If soul winning doesn’t occupy a major place in your discipleship, then you have been deceived.

It marks the beginning of the crucifixion week and you and I know this is the most significant week of the year for the Christian. We are talking about the death, the barrel, the resurrection of Christ, which is the heart made of the Bible. It’s the gospel message. The message that Christ died and by His death and shed blood.

Paed our sin, death and full was buried and then rose again from the 72 hours later and is alive forever more. And that is exciting news. You’re welcome to come and visit us here at Calvary this Sunday in Tampa. But if you can’t, you’re welcome to join us on the Internet, wherever you might be in the world. Just click on that camera on the home page. But we’ll have a worship service at 1030. We have an adult education class that I teach at 915.

And this Sunday, being the first Sunday of the month, we’ll have the Lord’s Supper also at 945 over at 1015 with a break in 1030 morning worship. We invite you to come. We find that Wednesday of this coming week will be Good Wednesday. We believe Christ was crucified on Wednesday, not Friday. And we’ll have a Good Wednesday service at 7 on Wednesday night. We are invited to come. Then Saturday night we’re having a sundown service. You say, a what?

A sundown service? Well, yes, because we believe Christ rose at sundown. It’s very easy to figure out. If he goes into grave at sundown and was in the grave 72 hours, Jesus said in Matthew 1240 he would be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. And that’s exactly 72 hours. Jesus said in John chapter 11, are there not 12 hours in the day and there are 12 hours in the night? But Jesus count their day from sundown to sundown in the night period comes first.

And so Jesus is saying three night periods, that’s 72 hours, and if Christ is placed in the grave at sundown, he has to come out of the grave at sundown, think about it. You see, if you leave Christ in the grave till Sunday morning, that’s three days and four nights. That’s an extra night. That would be wrong. The resurrection 72 hours after he came was placed in the grave, would put him right at the very end of the Sabbath and the very beginning of the first day of the week which is Saturday 6 p.m.

That’s when we’re having our worship service. The sundown service, you’re welcome to come. 6 p.m. Saturday, April 7. Join us for an exciting sundown service here at Calvary. Sunday morning, of course, we’ll have our resurrection service and again my adult class at 9.15 and other classes for the children. Come on out and see us. We’d love to have you. I hope you will. We are obviously excited about this coming week and I hope you are as well because this is when it all happened.

We just got back from Israel. We had two wonderful weeks there. We’re going to go again. We’d love to have you go the next time. That was trip number 14 for me. The next one will be trip number 15. I think it’ll change your life. I watched my whole group that went with me. Just change. Every one of them admitted when the trip was over, they weren’t the same person or person that got on the airplane to go to Israel when they returned their life has been forever changed.

What an experience. We walked down the slopes of the Mount of Olives and walked the very road that Christ walked as He came down those slopes on Palm Sunday. The crowds stralled the way with palm branches and threw their coats down and cried out and Hosanna to the son of David, claiming him to be the Messiah, the Savior, the Lamb that would come. He goes into the temple, the religious leaders reject him, and that week then was the week that Christ was crucified.

It’s interesting how it all plays out exactly like the prophets had said that it would happen. I love Zachariah 99. Next to the last book in your Old Testament, what an amazing prophecy. Zachariah 99 tells long in advance what would happen there on Palm Sunday. It says in verse 9, Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion, shout, O daughter of Jerusalem, Behold thy king comeeth under thee, he is just and having salvation, lowly, and riding upon an ass upon a colt the fold of an ass.”

That prophecy was fulfilled on Palm Sunday. Christ is coming down the slopes of the Mount of Olives on Adonchae. Well, there you can read it in the New Testament, and it quotes this passage from Zachariah as being the fulfillment. Here comes the first time lowly, meek, bringing salvation. And of course the redemption of the world was purchased at Calvary when Christ came the first time. He comes down to the slopes bringing salvation. Israel rejects their king and their Savior and he goes to the cross and dies to pay for the sins of the world.

Isn’t that remarkable that Zachariah tells this very incident long before it ever happens that he tells about how Christ comes, behold, my King Kommeth under the Zechariah 9.9. He is just, that means he is righteous, and there is none righteous according to Romans 3.10 of the human race, but Jesus is God who took on human flesh, and he is the only righteous one who has ever walked this earth and a human body, and it says here he is just and having salvation.

That’s why he came to bring salvation to everyone in the human race, because my friend, you don’t have to do anything to go to hell. Just die. You’re on your way. You are condemned already. The Bible says one lie would be enough to keep you out of heaven. That’s why Jesus died. When you trust in his finished work at the cross, God saves and gives you the gift of everlasting life. And that’s settled forever at the moment you trust Christ.

But then of course we are able to make a second decision where we choose to serve Him, become His disciples. And by doing so we can earn rewards and get in on the blessings that God wants to bestow upon our lives as we use our lives to glorify Him. Why not make both decisions? Christ, becomes saved and that’s eternal and has nothing to do with your obedience or behavior or conduct. It’s all purchased by Christ and His death and thank God He was obedient to go to the cross and die for you and me.

But the Christian life will cost you something and of course the returns are great. A hundred fold, that’s a 10,000% return on your investment as you live for Christ. And the joy and the blessing that will come into your life are immeasurable and certainly you would never want to… This is what God has for you. Make your life exciting every day when you get up and you say, what does the Lord have in store today? How God wants to use you every day as an instrument for his glory.

But to be saved is simply a gift received by trusting Christ. Anyway, our group got to walk down the slopes. We got to go up on the Temple Mount where the ancient Jewish temples once stood. By the way, that is open there north of the two Arab mosques that are on the site and that area is ready to go to build that third temple. We saw many of the pieces of furniture that are ready to go for the third temple.

We saw the menorah that goes into the temple. Apparently some very wealthy person gave a lot of money and it’s made of pure gold just like the Bible says, one piece and it was huge and they wouldn’t tell us how much it cost. I guess they don’t want people to come try to rob it. But wow, they have everything ready. It is prepared. All we need to do is now just keep looking because Jesus is coming and I believe very soon first for us at the Rapture and then seven years later the second coming to establish his Kingdom on the earth.

Those who teach that Christ has already come and we’re in the Kingdom. It’s interesting that they ignore so many passages. Revelation 20 tells us that Christ would rule for a thousand years on this earth. That’s a millennium. A thousand years, six times in Revelation 20. Well if the Kingdom began in 8070 as some people teach, then it should have ended in the year 1070 and Kingdom was over a thousand years ago. Does that mean we’re now on the New Earth and that we’re into eternity?

You know the Bible teaches in Revelation after the thousand year reign of Christ, which I take to be literal, that this will be destroyed by fire and God has created new heavens and a new earth. I’m telling you, those who teach that there’s a different way to look at Revelation and that Christ has already come. And the future things that Christ spoke about were already fulfilled in the 80s, 70s, and the Kingdom began then, while the Kingdom should be over.

We should right now be on the New Earth and in the New Jerusalem. It doesn’t make any sense. I’ll tell you, people today have some crazy ways of looking at the Bible when the Bible is, I think, intended to be taken literally. And it means what it says and says what it means and you don’t really have to go look for any other meaning when the meaning is quite plain as you read it. In any case, I’m excited that we’re getting close to when Jesus will return.

It could be, He’ll come this year. Who knows? I don’t have a date in mind, but I know that Christ is coming and I believe soon. I’m so glad I’m saved. I’m glad I have eternal life. I’m glad I’m sure of it. I talked to a fellow yesterday and he says, how do I know that Christ won’t leave me now that I’m saved? And I said, let me give you the answer. Hebrews 13.5. Jesus said, I will never believe you.

That’s it. Never means never. Hebrews 13.5, you ought to write it down. Maybe write that on your refrigerator. There are some verses I say are so good, so important. You need to write them down. I call them refrigerator verses. Of course, I don’t mean to write directly on your refrigerator. That would not be smart, I guess. But get some kind of paper, magnets, or whatever. But write it there where you’re going to see it every time maybe you go to the refrigerator, put some prominent place.

Hebrews 13-5, I, Christ said, will never leave you. Imagine the impossible that maybe you did wind up going to hell. Well, that would mean that Jesus would have to go to hell with you. I will never leave you. Not going to happen. Not going to happen. Not going to happen. That’s never going to happen. I just said that so that you would Grasp the fact that once you trust Christ you can never be lost because Jesus said he would never leave you If you ever went to hell he’d have to go to hell with you think about it Connect the dots the Bible is very plain Hebrews 13 5 I will never leave you Jesus said That is pretty plain.

And that’s just one of dozens and dozens of verses we could produce to point out that you could never perish, never be lost, never go to hell. Once you trust Jesus as your Savior. I’m Dr. Hank Lindstrom. This is Bibleline. Thanks for tuning in today. We’re going to go to the live callers here and also take some of the offer calls. You’re welcome to call. It’s Friday. We want you to come by this Sunday if you’re in the Tampa Bay area.

If you can’t and you don’t have a church home, go to the Internet and catch our service. on the internet. That’s right. You can catch live or then you can wait and catch it the next day and from then on in the archive section by clicking on the camera on the home page by the line Ministries.org or .com. We have a lot of things that are bookstore and our resource center that are helpful for you. We’ve got the handbook on personal evangelism in two languages.

We have it in Spanish and English. That book will tell you how to tell someone else how to be how to be same. It talks about how to open your mouth, what to say when mouth is open, how to close your mouth actually, how to leave that person to Christ. Some people get a conversation going and they don’t know how to wind it down and actually leave the person to Christ. This book will tell you how to do that.

Wow. Nothing like it. You can’t get it in your Christian bookstore. You can only get it through us. It’s called the handbook of personal evangelism, a gift of $12. You can get it in Spanish or you can get it in English. Maybe there’s somebody that you could think of. You’d want to give this as a gift to because if you have a young growing Christian, this book will actually lay a foundation for them that will really set them on the right course for the rest of their Christian life.

It’s a powerful, powerful book. We also have a new book by John Walford who is now in heaven called The Final Drama. This has 14 chapters, 14 keys to understanding the prophetic scriptures. It’s a wonderful book, he’s one of my favorite authors and this was a good one and I think you’ll like it. That’s called The Final Drama, 14 chapters, 14 keys to understanding the prophetic scriptures. Very, very powerful. We’ve got several colors. We’ve got Tony in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

We’ve got Jimmy in Nashville. We’re going to take him in that order. We’re going to go right now to Tony in Pittsburgh, Virginia. I mean, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, get my geography right here in a minute. Welcome to Bibleline Tony. Yes, yes. It’s a blessing to talk to you. I just want to listen to your program about maybe three or four weeks in that day. I wanted to ask a question about, I don’t have my bowel with me, and I’m mad for the 25th chapter, and I’m about to be trained when they knocked on the door.

Okay. And the Lord didn’t let them in. That’s right. And I looked at a mad for 721, and 22 is saying like it’s kind of prevalent, and I was wondering, were dumb believers? So neither one are and the key is because in Matthew 25, excuse me, in verse 12, Christ says, I know you not. That is a tip-off that these foolish virgins were not saved because Christ knows those that are his. And so when she becomes saved, he knows who you are and you’re forever his.

And we find also the same in Matthew 7, he said, there, I never knew you. He didn’t say, I once knew you and I lost you. So they were never saved, never one of his. He says, I never knew you. And it’s because they’re trusting in their works. They said, Lord, look, we preached in your name, we healed in your name, we did wonderful works in your name. And that’s not the way to heaven. They didn’t say, we trusted in your death and shed blood at the cross and that you are buried and that you rose again from the dead for our salvation and we trusted you as the only means of our entrance into heaven.

They didn’t say that. They were saying, look at what we did, why we preached and we healed and we did wonderful works in Christ. I’m sorry, wrong answer. I never knew you. Depart from me, you either work iniquity. Yeah, I want to ask you one more question. Okay, about salvation, I believe it’s the work of the Lord Jesus Christ alone. If his work is none of me. Absolutely. I want my trust in him. I’m saved to attorney. OK, the chance when I used to.

The go to is it possible I don’t believe that I believe once the Lord save you say but they believe. Once you get saved. And you go back out there in the street and that there may be mess up or whatever top going to church they believe you have to keep believing. to be saved. And I don’t believe that then. And what I want to ask you is is it possible a believer don’t know the Word of God, don’t know too much about the Word of God.

Maybe you can get saved a young Christian and out there and don’t really fool the understanding of the gospel. And that then get saved and then they go to a church that would have been misleading and at the end and then they say why believe you you say that works you have to keep on it if you don’t do that you would go to heaven i mean go ahead well you know the thing is once you get safe forever now some people i think can get saved and then one of getting in a bad teaching and uh…

and obviously they’ll lose their joy and they’ll lose the uh… the uh… the uh… the uh… rewards it could have have by proclaiming the wonderful true message of Christ. But they’ll still be saved if they’ve ever gotten saved. As Christ said in I quoted earlier, Hebrews 13 5, I will never leave you nor will I ever forsake you. So you’re safe forever. But yeah, unfortunately some churches really put like a blanket over the new believer and they just don’t grow, don’t go anywhere and are left in the state of confusion the rest of their Christian life which is sad.

I really believe once you say that’s it when I didn’t when I first was a bleaver because I Got here said well, you know, you can lose yourself base You don’t keep on going and you know that I had told him I said if I can lose it, I don’t want it Well, there you go And I did and I want this is and I’d let you go first y’all one nine And that’s it that’s for believers ain’t it?

That’s for believers only John includes himself in that we if we We confess our sins. God is faithful and just forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all in righteousness. Let’s talk about the Christian walk as we still sin as believers and we need to come to Christ to be cleansed each day as we walk in order to stay in fellowship. Now our relationship which occurs at the time we believe in it is the new birth is eternal.

We have eternal life and we’ve become God’s sons or daughters eternally upon belief and our relationship is forever and ever. Nothing can ever affect that. But our fellowship, and if you read 1 John, the word fellowship, I can think occurs three or four times before you get to verse 9, and it’s talking about our walk. And it says, if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, then we have fellowship with him. And so if you don’t walk in the light, as you mentioned earlier, people only get saved in the water and into the world and do things they shouldn’t are not walking in the light.

And therefore they’re not walking in fellowship, know they might be safe. Yeah, I better let you go because I have so many folks. Okay, we’ll keep listening up there and good and we’re glad to be on the air and you keep listening in Pittsburgh. Is there any choices believe when you believe in Pittsburgh close back? I hope so. I don’t really know and I don’t know what to tell you. Is that okay? Thank you so much. Keep me in plan.

I’ll be a supporter for you next month. All right. And I really don’t know because I haven’t been in the church for a long time, but I remember preaching a week of revival at their once upon a time and I don’t even remember the church now that I was in, but we had a good time. We’re going to go to Jimmy now in Nashville, Tennessee and Jimmy, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Dr. Hank, how you doing? Good.

Dr. Hank, I want to know if you can either correct me or simplify this for me. They’re a part in the Bible where it says it’s a deal with believers but it’s saying that there’s a sin that we can do that would be the sin unto death. That’s something to do with grieving the Holy Spirit or could you clarify that? Yeah, that’s over in 1 John 5 verse 16 where there’s a sin that a believer can commit which would, the Lord would take you home to heaven early as a result of.

And obviously that sin is not the same in every case. I think Moses committed that sin. He was told to speak to the rock and he smote the rock. And God said because of that, he was going to take him home to heaven early. We believe that Ananias and Safari, in Acts chapter 5, lying about their sale and their property and the proceeds and so on, God took both of them. Boom on the spot… they dropped dead one after another.

And they were Christians. And they simply went home to heaven early. First Corinthians 5 talks a little about, he’s living in a in fornication with his mother probably a stepmother, and was proud and puffed up and God took him out. It says in verse 5, A first Corinthians 5, To deliver such a one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the Spirit may be saved, in the day of the Lord Jesus. So when the day of the Lord Jesus occurs, which issing, He is risen to the earth.

That is, unto us, and unto us, He is going to do unto me. So, for unto us, He is going to receive the Spirit, and unto us, unto doth He’s going to be be unto all the Pharisees of the rest, at the rapture, that man will be there saved, but his flesh died as the Lord of Satan to take his life early. So that’s what I believe the sin is, and it’s different in every case. I think the person involved would probably know that they had committed that sin if they did.

I really believe, and I don’t usually speak about it very often, but as a young believer, I felt the Lord wanted me to go into full time Christian work and I felt that if I didn’t, that would be my sin and the death. The Lord was just going to take me home to heaven. I felt that very strongly. I believe that had I not chosen to follow Christ as a believer and go into full time Christian work, he would have taken me home to heaven early.

I believe is the answer and we’ll wait and see when we get to heaven what that sin might have been for you or for someone else. Okay. Another thing, Dr. Hank, I was want to know for us. Byron, young pastors, if you was going to recommend a seminary, what seminary would you recommend? It’s a tough one today. Right now, I really do like a couple of places. Let me just not recommend them all the year. Call me right after the show and I’ll tell you.

No, okay. All right. All right. And we have to go to break. It’s time to do that. And so here we go. Hold on to your radio. Don’t let that battle change. And we’ll be back for a second half hour in just a moment. Don’t go away. Bibleline will be back in a moment. Give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. And if you could send a gift and no gift is too small, we appreciate every gift that comes. And we know that some are not able to give very much. Others are able to give a lot more. And if you could give a gift to Bible, we would really greatly We appreciate it.

We thank you in advance. God bless you and hope you keep listening and enjoying telling your friends about it. We sure do thank you for tuning in to Bibleline today. We hope that you’ll take advantage of the website and the online bookstore there, the Resource Center.

And maybe you might want to get some of the things we mentioned on the program today. They’ll all be of great help to you. We do have all of last year’s sermons available. That’s 52 weeks of sermons for a gift of Bible and of $250. That normally would be $300. We have a series called, Jesus is coming that we just finished. And that is a series of 10 weeks of teaching. And those 10 weeks are available for a gift of $50 on CD.

Also if you want them on DVD, that’s what the video would be for a gift of $75. That’s a real bargain. Our Sunday messages are also available. A lot of people subscribe to them. We will have a service Wednesday at 7 PM, you are invited.

And also, Saturday we are having a sundown service celebrating the resurrection of Christ at the time we believe it took place. We are probably the only church in America that has a sundown service, but my friend, think about it, Christ, was put in the grave at sundown. He said he’d be in the grave 72 hours, Matthew 1240. He had to come out of the grave at sundown. And that’s the end of the Sabbath. And it’s the beginning of the first day of the week when they came in the morning.

They discovered an empty tomb. Nobody saw the resurrection on Sunday morning. He came back from the dead as the night period begins first. At 60 m when the Sabbath ends and the new day, the first day of the week began. That’s when Christ rose. So join us for a sundown service. So, of course, on the 8th Sunday morning, we’ll also have a resurrection service, and you’re always invited, either by Internet or by being here in person. person. And if you ever come into town from out of state, we just had a family in Montana said they’re coming in this summer and they’re definitely coming and bringing relatives here in Florida to our worship service.

We’re looking forward to meeting them and we look forward to meeting all of those who listen who are coming. Have a fellow yesterday tell me he’s coming over for Orlando for our resurrection service. And so wherever you might be coming If it’s just down the street, we’d love to say welcome, and I’d like to get a chance to meet you, and we’d love to have you come. And of course, if you can’t, we are available on the Internet 24-7, and you can enjoy that.

This is March, and it’s the last day of March. Looks like we’ve had an offer now to go free on shortwave in Asia and in Africa. We’re most excited about that new breakthrough for Bibleline. Pray for us as we trust that God will use us in these last days Christ. We believe is coming Very soon. We have Betty in Beverly Hills and that’s Beverly Hills, Florida Not Beverly Hills, California Betty.

Welcome to Bibleline your on the air. Yeah, good morning I have a question and then a couple of comments if I may go for it We were at a local Baptist Church for a thank God for a real day And they noticed that around the cross in that church, it was a sort of a ship of burgundy material hanging on the cross. Can you tell me what the significance of that is? I would guess that it’s probably the purple robe that they put on Christ that’s representing the fact that they mock him being a king and they put a purple robe on him.

That’s the only thing that I can think of that it might represent. But I don’t know. You’ll have to ask the church that’s doing it. Maybe they have a meaning. But that’s usually what it represents, the purple. If you read the New Testament, they put a purple robe on Christ and then, Mark, he was being king and then they stripped it off of him. And of course they didn’t accept him as king. They were just playing with him. Yes.

I was hoping it wasn’t making any reference to the shroud, which is clearly a myth. Yeah. Now, we are a friend that we are discipling and myself are enjoying our old school field, not new, but King James Bible, that we brought at your church. Thank you very much. And my comment is, one of my comments is this, we have a friend, best friend for over 35 years, who still lives in Huntington, Long Island, New York, and has gone totally blind.

And now her granddaughter is downloading your programs. How wonderful. And she’s able to listen to them, so I hear you on that radio, And that’s the last thing I wanted to mention, please, is I made contact with someone from a Baptist Church in O’Pala who has never been to Israel and would like to go in the fall. So I gave her one of your tracks and your name and I’m going to be back in touch with her by phone.

And I suggested that you may be going in the fall. know it’s back to Israel and she wants to go. And then my other comment is what about Petra for another place, Brother Lynch? No, I’ve been to Israel, but only Jerusalem. Well, consider that. I’ve been to Petra many times and it’s obviously a very exciting journey. It’s in southern Jordan and that’s what the Jews we believe will flee from the Antichrist during the tribulation period and It’s really really spectacular and we might do that.

Alright. Thank you for that suggestion Thank you, brother lunch, and we hope to see you on this on down service wonderful. Okay. Bye. All right. That’s Betty and Beverly Hills Florida and It’s true. You can download our programs off of the internet for your iPod and that’s wonderful that they’re able to do that for that blind lady and pray that more of you might we probably ought to talk about that more often if you want to get on a list a prospect list for Israel so we’ll keep you informed you can call in and leave your name and phone number for a possibility of you being on the next trip with us to Israel will be number 15 for me and we had a marvelous time.

We did our television taping last night and we incorporated some of the video from the Hill of Calvary and my presentation to my group there at Calvary and that will be seen on one of the shows you’ll see coming up in the coming weeks. So we’ll We’ll hope to add a lot more to our shows of our visit to Israel as we just have returned this last week. Anyway, we’re now going to go to Janet down in Port Charlotte, Florida and Janet, welcome to Bible and you are on the air.

Good morning. Good morning. Yes. I listened to your second July caller about what you were saying in the way that if you’re for a friend great you you and die you will see that god god says i don’t believe that because arm is the kill eighteen says i sold a signature finish i’ll die Well, I agree with you. That’s Ezekiel 1820. I’m very familiar with it. And it’s talking there about physical death, and that’s like the other caller who called about the sin unto death, that sometimes the Lord will take a believer home early prior to when they should die.

You know, Hezekiah was, Lord was going to take his life and he prayed and got his house in order and he asked the Lord to spare him. And the Lord added 15 years back to his life. You have to read the context of their Janet and Ezekiel is not talking about going to hell, talking about dying, talking about physical death. Sometimes people that normally would live a very long life due to drugs or alcohol die young. I have buried probably 4, 5, 6 people that have died of heroin overdose or other drugs or alcohol.

young man, he was a believer, but at 30 years of age died of alcoholism. Are you believing that? I just was so shocked, so much alive. And so, you know, just a handsome young man, and yet his alcohol caused him to be taken out of here. And I have no doubt where he’s He’s in heaven today. He was a genuine believer. You don’t give me a chance to say anything. Well go for it. Genesis 6th, 6th, 3rd chapter, said, The Lord said, my spiritual not always tried with man, for he’s also flesh.

Well that’s exactly right. And if you read the context there, he’s talking about, God gave them 120 years, if you read the verse carefully, while God was allowing Noah to build the ark to listen to the message and trust Christ as Savior. But during that 120 years, none of them believed on Christ. Noah was not successful in leading his generation to Christ. And so after 120 years then he brought the flood. So the Spirit of God strove with men to get them to see their need, to trust the Lord of Savior and be saved for 120 years and then the flood came.

So he strives with you until you die. But once you die by natural causes, or in that case, as a result of the flood, it’s too late. And the people of Noah’s day today are in Hades waiting to go to hell because of their unbelief. So none of these passages are talking about loss of salvation. Clearly the people in Noah’s day were lost and it was only Noah and his family that were saved and he’s talking about he would not strive with those men forever but for 120 years he did.

We do thank you for that call Janet. We know going to Fred in Tampa, Florida. Fred, welcome to Bibleline. Welcome back, Hank. How are you? Good. I’ve got two quick questions and I’ll hang up and listen. justification, guarantee, progressive sanctification, and also, where in the Bible does it say that a person needs to go to seminary in order to serve the Lord as a pastor or a Bible teacher? Thank you. Well, justification doesn’t guarantee anything except for your salvation.

It’s a legal term. It means that you’re declared righteous in God’s court of law based upon the fact that Christ substituted himself in your place and made the full payment for your sin by his death at the cross of Calvary. What happens is your sins were laid upon Christ, he paid for them, and when you accept that payment he made for you and trust Christ as your Savior, God’s additionally declares you righteous based upon Christ’s righteousness being transferred to your account based on the fact that he took your sin and paid for it.

But you must believe or trust Christ in order for that to happen. But then your Christian life, which you’re talking about there in sanctification, occurs as a process and that’s up to you to do the right things. That is to pray, to read your Bible, to fellowship with other Christians and to witness and so on and so on. Many things that are part of the Christian life. So nowhere in the Bible does they have to go to seminary to preach.

And obviously you have the woman at the well preaching moments after she gets saved. And lots of folks in that city got saved as a result of her witness. And you have a… A few examples of others in the Bible that immediately began to proclaim. In order in some churches though, you will have to have some type of training and recognition that you are gifted in that area. You know, one of the gifts to the church was the pastor-teacher, according to Ephesians chapter before.

One guy said he was called to preach and he said, how do you know? He said he saw the letters in the clouds in the sky. He said, T.P. called to preach. He went out and started preaching, but nobody ever listened to him. Then somebody said, well maybe that meant called to plow rather than the preach. You misinterpreted what the message was. But if you are called, then certainly God will have gifted you to be able to accomplish what He’s called you to do.

And not everybody is to be a preacher in the sense that you’re in a full-time capacity where you drive your income from it. But whether you be doctor, lawyer, Indian chief, or whatever you might be in a vocation, God wants everybody to preach. That’s what Mark 16 says, going to all the world and preach the gospel. Of course that word preach, simply means to tell them. It means to announce the herald of her claim. And you can do that in a whisper.

You can do that shouting. You can do it writing it down and passing it to somebody. It’s not the style. It’s not whether you, some people say, well that guy’s a preacher because he teaches in the other, or rather, hollers and the other guy is a teacher because he is soft spoken and that is not accurate at all. The word preach has nothing to do with style, whether you are loud or quiet or whether you are boisterous or whether you are a mild man and it has to do with the message.

The Bible always uses the word preach in connection with the gospel. Somebody might be so-called preaching but if they don’t proclaim the death of the resurrection of Christ according to the Bible, they are not preaching. Because that is the message we are to proclaim. And that’s what we are to do. Fred, I hope that helps. But if you are going to be a pastor, I would recommend you get some training. It’s getting more and more difficult now to find a very sound seminary.

Many T’s, seminary’s are really cemeteries because they are obviously producing dead preachers who really don’t have any spiritual life to them and that’s unfortunate. We have Mike in Seminole, Florida and Mike want to welcome you to Bible Eye. Thanks for calling in today. Hi, Pastor. My question is regarding salvation and I have a friend, a good friend whose father has suffered with depression for some time and I was just wondering how that affects his salvation. I don’t think he’s ever heard the gospel message.

And I was just wondering if there’s somewhere in the Bible it tells us that someone who suffers with depression these kind of conditions actually gets him to heaven. Well, if he trusted the Lord, he saved even though he might experience depression. No, I don’t think he’s ever done that. I see. Well, then obviously he can be saved, of course. of whoever is witnessing them needs to be patient and keep proclaiming it to him. I would think that for a person to press the gospel would be a real wonderful message for them to hear for several reasons.

Not only does it bring salvation to them, but it may help them with their depression because to know that you have a wonderful future ahead, a home in heaven, all paid for and that your sins are forgiven and the Lord loves you and will take care of you forever ought to be something to help lift you from your depression. Sounds like he might also need some medical help. Yes, he has actually had some treatment. But we’ll just pray for him and I hope that you’ll tell your friend to pursue witnessing for sure and that might make a real difference in his life and his outlook.

I’ve seen people who have been somewhat, I guess, down in life, get saved and it’s just turned their whole world around. So the Gospel is a wonderful, powerful message not only to bring salvation but the healing of the mind as you realize that the Lord is in charge of this universe and nothing happens in your life by accident that the Lord obviously wants to bring Good. Okay. Thanks for calling, Mike. Oh, I think so. Your help. That was Mike in Seminole, Florida, right across the Bay.

Again, we want to say if you’d like to go to Israel with us, you might want to get on that prospect list as we’ll try to keep those informed who want to go about informed about the trip. informed who want to go, informed about the trip that we might take somewhere in the next year. And several people have expressed an interest. And I think almost everybody on the group I just took to Israel, we just returned a week ago that they’re interested in going again.

In fact, I guess it’s been less than a week. We just got back this past Saturday, so tomorrow will be one week that we are back. This weekend is a great beginning of the crucifixion week. It’s Palm Sunday, and that’s when Christ was marked out as the designated Lamb to be slain. On Wednesday, we believe he was crucified. We’re having a good Wednesday service at seven on Wednesday of this week, the 4th of April. On the 7th, Saturday we’re having a sundown service at 6 p.m.

celebrating Christ’s resurrection at sundown Saturday. Then Sunday, of course, we’ll have our resurrection services on the 8th of April. We’d like to have you come at 9.15 for our adult class that I teach. Also at 10.30, then we’ll have our resurrection Sunday services. Kids will be getting candy that day and we call it Resurrection Candy as we try to avoid using the e-word which is the name of the mother of Bail. So some of those things are exciting. They’re coming up.

Also our resource center. If you’d like a resource sheet, send you, just call. Our operators will be glad to send it out to you. You can also take a look at everything on our online bookstore. And again, remember, if you can’t come to any of our functions here in Tampa, you can join us on our internet site as we webcast our worship services every Sunday, and you can join us by going to the web. So we invite you to join us in that way.

We’re glad to be on the air in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in Richmond, Virginia, in Memphis, Tennessee. By the way, we’ve had a group come into our hotel in Jerusalem that listened to Bible line in Memphis, Tennessee. We’re on a national Tennessee, Chattanooga, Tennessee. We’re on in Utican Albany, New York. We’re on in Lansing, Michigan. We’re on in Flint and Saginaw, Michigan. We’re on a mobile Alabama, Pensacola, Florida. And we’re on the land, Florida. And we’re on in Sarasota, on FM, 91.3.

1.3 and of course in the Tampa Bay area, AM 910 and AM 570 and on the internet we’re all over the world and we hope to be adding more stations and growing as the Lord provides. Plus we’re on in Honduras, our TV programs are on in Mongolia as we mentioned. We have Vinnie in Hudson, Florida calling in, leaving an off air question and he says, Is there any account in the Bible where Judas performed miracles? And no, I don’t know of any.

And of course Judas, one of the disciples, apostles, was unsaved. He never, ever believed on the Lord Jesus Christ. And Jesus said it in John 664. Jesus said he knew from the beginning who they were that believed not and who should betray him. referring to Judas John 664. All right, off the air, Claire in Texas, Pastor Hank, can my family call Calvary Community Church our church? We listen from the internet and we’ll be doing further studies with you as we have never experienced the gospel with such insight as Bibleline brings to us.

Well, Claire, we’d be proud to have you call us your church out there in Texas. Thank you, Claire, for that nice compliment. And say hi to all of your family and tell them that we certainly feel honored to have you as a part of us here in Tampa along with many others who really have identified with us and we’re thankful for you. God bless you. Thank you for calling in from Texas. We have Karen and Sarasota calling in. She says what is the teaching on abortion?

Well obviously abortion is wrong. To take a life, we believe life begins at conception. The Bible says they’ll shorten up murder. To deliberately choose, to take an unborn life is we believe to be a murder and shouldn’t happen. Now, God in his providence does in some cases allow a natural abortion. And that’s usually because there’s something defective going on, something wrong, and God takes the life of the child. But those children we believe go to Heaven because they are under the blood until a child is born and reaches the age of accountability.

If they should die, they would go to Heaven. 2 Samuel, 1223. David had a child. 7 days old, it dies, and David said the child will not return to me, but I’m going to go to be with that baby, and we know that David certainly went to Heaven. We’ve got to run. I hope you’ve trusted Jesus as your Savior. Just tell him, Lord, I’m the sinner, but I believe your death in shed blood purchased by salvation, and I trust you right now to save me and God will and that’s good news keep listening to Bibleline and Go to church someplace this weekend.
