I wanted to send you a thank you because you taught me a lot about the simplicity of the gospel and how important it is to deliver it correctly. I have come to respect and value your teachings and put a lot of it into practice, and it has helped me give a clear gospel message. I have shared your teachings with various people here in Japan. Your teachings are helping new Christians and are helping yet to be Christians have a better understanding of what the scripture really does say.
It was really encouraging for me to hear that you are praying for me here in Japan. Thank you for teaching the truth and your willingness to share your knowledge with others. I thank you for your teachings and your kindness and your overall example that you have given. Thank you sincerely Brian and Brian certainly we are praying for you and I know he’s got a lot of new internet listeners for us there in Japan as he is leading people to Christ there in the Far East.
It’s exciting that right here from our studios here in Tampa, Florida that Bibleline is reaching out to the whole world. We have 149 countries that have logged into our website and many, many go there throughout the week day and night and are listening to and watching our programs. We have a couple yesterday that are watching our worship services in Richmond, Virginia. They’re wondering if there are others watching the worship service on Sunday morning that are missing the fellowship or the believers, they would like to have you contact me and then they could share that information.
They would love to be able to get together and worship with Calvary Community Church together as a group and wouldn’t that be great? In any case, this is Bible and I’m Dr. Englundstrom and we’re going to turn to the Bible this morning and then we’ll go ahead and answer your questions if you want to call in the number is 1-800-576-3771. Well, Pope Benedict XVI has reasserted the primacy of the Roman Catholic Church approving a document released Tuesday that says other Christian communities either are defective or not through churches.
That only Catholicism provides the true path to salvation. It’s interesting that basically the Roman Catholic Church claims to be the exclusive beholder of the truth and that they are the one true church. This of course I believe is a false claim. First of all, because the true church is not an organization, it is not a denomination, it is a living organism. The church is comprised of every believer from Pentecost to LaRapture. Every living believer is a member of the body of Christ, and that happens upon belief.
When you trust Christ as your Savior, you become a member of the true church. You can’t join the true church. You can’t be solicited to become a member of it. You have to trust Christ and then God places you in the body of Christ as a consequence of salvation. Let me quote to you 1 Corinthians chapter 12, where it tells us about what is called the operation of the baptism of the Holy Spirit. In verse 13, verse 13, verse 12, it says, by one spirit, are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond, slaves or free, and have been all made to drink into one spirit?
Well this is the placing of the believer into the body of Christ. It says as the body is one and half many members and all the members of that one body being many are one body, so also is Christ. And by one Spirit are we all placed into that body. The result in verse 27 is, now you are the body of Christ and members in particular. And this body of believers is called in the Bible the Church. We know that there are numerous numerous verses that tell us that, but the church is the body of Christ.
It says in verse 22 of Ephesians 1, that God has put all things under Christ’s feet and given him to be the head of all things to the church, which is his body. And of course that body is comprised of living believers. The church is not a building, it’s not a denomination, it’s not an organization. But the Roman Catholic Church has made a false claim. They all base it on Matthew 16, where Christ said here in verse 17 and 18 of Matthew 16, Jesus answered and said unto Peter, Behold thou art Simon Bar- Jonah.
I said, Our thou, Simon, Bar-Jona, for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father, which is in heaven. This is after Peter had said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And then Jesus says, And I say unto thee, Thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. Well what it’s saying here is not that Peter is the rock, but Christ himself is the rock.
There is a play here in the Greek language upon the different words. The New Testament is written in the Greek language and when it says thou art Peter, the Greek word is Petras literally a little rock. And then it says upon this rock and the Greek word there is Petra, which is a solid rock of foundation stone, it says I will build my church. So Christ does not promise to build His church upon Peter, but upon Himself, as Peter Himself is careful to tell us in so many passages.
The Bible is clear that there is no claim that Peter is the rock upon which the church is built. In fact, Peter himself makes it plain. If you turn to the book of Acts, for example, in chapter 4, Peter is preaching, and he says about Jesus, it says in verse 10, be it known unto you all and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him, does this man stand here before you hold, this is the stone, which is said at note of you builders, which has become the head of the corner.
Christ here is talking about the prophecies, about this stone that would be rejected, the cornerstone, and he saying it’s Christ. And then he says in verse 12, Peter says, neither is there salvation in any other, for there is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved. So we find really that Peter is quite plain, that Jesus is the rock. He is the one upon which the Church is built, and all of those that are believers are built upon that foundation of Jesus himself.
If you have your Bible open, turn it to I Corinthians chapter 3, you’ll find this is a very fascinating passage where Paul the Apostle says, for other foundation can no man and that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. He doesn’t say Peter, he doesn’t say some denomination, but Paul says in 1 Corinthians 3, 11, for other foundation can no man lay than that which is laid, which is what? Jesus Christ. He’s the foundation. And then it talks about being built upon that foundation.
Let me have you look with me in Ephesians chapter 2. In Ephesians 2, it tells us that we as believers, being members of the body of Christ, by faith, it says in Ephesians 2, 8, by grace you are saved through faith, and that not of yourselves it is the gift of God, not of works, as the state he mentioned most. Then in verse 20 it says that we are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone.
That’s pretty clear, isn’t it? That’s Ephesians 2-20 being built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone. There is no apostolic succession. When you study history, you’ll find that there is no apostolic succession. If you look at the first 6th centuries, there’s a huge hole there where you can’t trace anything. The Roman Catholic Church as we know it doesn’t even emerge until around the 6th century. The Bible doesn’t teach that a particular organization here on this earth is the true church.
It’s not any denomination. The true church is comprised of living believers, those who have trusted Christ. That’s what Peter himself taught. If the Roman Catholic Church were right and Peter was the first pope, why don’t they listen to him? the first pope, why don’t they listen to him? Peter obviously is saying the very opposite of what the Roman Catholic Church is teaching. In 1 Peter chapter 1, rather chapter 2, Peter says these wonderful words. This is over on the latter part of your Bible, 1 Peter chapter 2 near the book of Revelation and he says in verse 4 of 1 Peter 2 to whom coming, that is to Christ, as unto a living stone.
When we come to the Lord to be saved, we are coming to Christ who is the living stone. It says in verse 3, if so be that you have tasted that the Lord is gracious or full of mercy, to whom coming as unto a living stone. This allowed indeed of men, but chosen of God and precious. There again is that reference to the stone, but the prophets spoke about that would be rejected the cornerstone. To whom coming is unto a living stone, this allowed indeed of men, but chosen of God and precious.
Then verse 5, Peter says, you also are lively stones and are built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. So we as believers are little pebbles or little stones, just like Peter was declared to be in Matthew 1618, where Christ said that Peter, you’re a little stone and you’ll be built upon thee stone, thee rock, which was Christ himself. And so Peter and the Apostles were stones built upon the foundation stone of Christ.
And then we too are living stones that are built upon that foundation. As Paul said in 1 Corinthians 3, 11, for other foundation can no man lay, and that which is laid which is Jesus Christ. And so then it goes on to say here in verse 6 as it quotes the scripture, wherefore also as it is contained in the scripture Behold, I lay in Zion a chief cornerstone, elect precious, and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.
Under you, therefore, which believe he, Christ, is precious, but unto them to be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same as made the head of the corner. So here again is clear that Peter is telling us that Peter himself is not the rock. is the rock. And every true believer that has accepted Jesus Christ alone as the only means of their salvation, that he alone by his death, Maryland Resurrection has paid our sin debt in full. God saves them and saves them eternally.
I am afraid I am a member of the true church. And the false church is making a false claim here because there is no organization on planet that hurt, or headed up by any organization or from any particular city that is the true church. Christ is the head of the church, He is in heaven, and the church is built upon Him. He is the foundation, and we are all stones that comprise that body of believers called the church. And it is comprised of living souls, living persons, and we are the true church.
I hope you have trusted Christ as your Savior, and if you have, according to 1 Corinthians 12, 13, the Holy Spirit then takes you and places you into the body of Christ at the moment you believe. Again, I am not trying to convince you, this is Bibleline, and I am praying that every one of you have trusted Christ. If you haven’t, you can say, Lord, I am a sinner. I don’t understand much, but I do believe Jesus died for me.
I believe He paid for my sins in full by His death and shed blood. I believe he was buried. I believe he came back again from the dead. I trust him right now as my savior. But we’re gonna go to the phone lines and we’re gonna go to the offer of questions. If you have a question, you’re welcome to let us know about it. We have anonymous from Tampa, Florida calling in regarding loss of rewards. In heaven does a person lose all rewards?
If he doesn’t completely follow God. I don’t believe so. I believe that whatever you have wrought. God will reward. I like Hebrews 6 verse 10, where it says God is not unrighteous to forget your labor of love. It’s a passage they’re talking about rewards. And He is not unrighteous to forget whatever you have done for Him. So if you live for Christ, you will find that He will reward that. But I think we can lose out in what we could have had should we not have served the Lord.
And if we are, uh, serving according to the Bible and we’re presenting through Gospel Jesus Christ we will be in great shape. We want to answer a few other offer questions in Matthew 25 we have an offer caller calling in from Pompano Beach. Robert says please clarify Matthew 25 31 through 46 people use this to prove that works have to do something with salvation. I certainly will do that, Robert. This is talking about the judgment of the nations that will occur at the second coming of Christ, and that is seven years after the Rapture.
The Rapture will occur when the Church is complete. When the Body of Christ is complete, the last Gentile has been added to the Body of Christ. Then we’re going to be Raptured out. Then God will return to his program for Israel, and at the end of the seven years he will come back as their king and rule over the earth as King of kings and Lord of lords. But just as he begins his thousand year kingdom, he will judge the nations.
Angels will be dispatched and they will gather all the unbelievers on the earth. Angels will be dispatched to gather all the believers on the earth and they will be placed into the valley of Jehasa fat which does not even exist right now. It is a valley that will be created when Christ returns, his feet will touch on the Mount of Olives which is to the east of Jerusalem immediately to the east and the Mount will split in half. Half of the Mount will be removed to the north, half of it will be removed to the south and a great valley will be created.
If you read Zechariah 14-4, it says his feet shall stand in that day upon the Mount of Olives and describes how this Mount will cleave in half, half toward the north, half toward the south. And if you are standing on the Temple Mount, and I was just there in March, and you look east you will see the Mount of Olives directly ahead of you. And when that splits, a valley will be created and Christ sitting on his throne from the the rebuilt temple there in Jerusalem will look down across this valley.
On his left hand all the lost will be placed, and on his right hand all the saved will be placed. And it says here in here is the text in Matthew 25-31, when the son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory. That’s here on the earth, that’s Jerusalem, and that’s when he judges the nations. And before him shall be gathered all nations, and he shall separate them one from another as a shepherd divided his sheep from the goats.
And so we find here he sets his sheep on the right hand, his goats on the left, and to the ones that are sheep he says in verse 34, the kings shall say unto them on his right hand, come ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. That is the Millennial Kingdom. thousand year reign of Christ and that is literal. Christ will rule for a thousand years revelation chapter 20 tells us six times in that one chapter the length of this rule of Christ.
To the ones on his left hand verse 41 says that he says to those on his left hand depart from a ye cursed into everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels. No unsaved person will enter into that thousand year reign of Christ. Only believers will enter and the ones that are believers will enter in the ones that are lost. Our unbelievers will be cast into hell. But then it talks about the believers in verse 35 how that when I was hungry you gave me meat.
I was thirsty. You gave me drink. I was a stranger and you took me in naked and you clothed me and so on. Then shall the righteous. And by the way, Notice that term righteous because we can only become righteous in God’s sight by faith in Christ to have God’s righteousness credited to our account. Then shall the righteous answer him saying, Lord, when did we do this? When did we see you hungry and fed thee or thirsty and gave you drink?
When did we see you as a stranger and take you in and so on? And the King shall say unto them, barely I say unto you, inasmuch as you have done it unto one of these, the least of my brethren, you have done it unto me. I believe that’s talking about the 144,000 Jewish witnesses which are Christ’s brothers as concerning the flesh, that they will evangelize. The believers will get saved through their evangelism and as a result they will be grateful and they will try to care for and visit these in prison that will be there because they’re persecuted because they preach the gospel during that time.
The unsaved obviously will not have any concern. In fact they probably will hate the hundred forty-five thousand because they reject the message and so they will not feed him but they’re not saved because they that or didn’t feed or clothe or did not clothe, they were saved because they were sheep that requires a new birth, that requires trust in Christ. They are righteous, that was because they believed the only ones in the Bible that are righteous are those that as Abraham did believed the gospel and God counted it for righteousness, Genesis 15 and 6.

You might want to do that and that would be great. We’re going to go back to the phone lines and we have a caller from Cherokee, Texas. He’s been waiting quite a while here. for your patients at Charles, but we have Charles and Cherokee, Texas. Welcome to Bible on your own year. Yes, after that, sir. Yes, sir. I’ve got two questions, Ashley, and it might be a lot of folks, besides just me, it’s interesting. What I would discuss first is the enlaviticus leaven, chapter 11.
Yes, sir. It says that swine, like pork and bacon that slime is not unclean to eat. So do you see how I might eat because it’s not clean? And I had one, Mr. explain that, how they’re wondering why they store poison in the fat because they can’t fire a sweat. I don’t know the answer about that, but they’re also susceptible to disease. You know, they kind of, well, I don’t know the scientific reasons for it, for, but I know that pork was dangerous.
I remember as a little boy my mom saying that we had to cook pork very, very thoroughly. There was a danger, I think, of trigonosis, which most of these diseases have been limited today because the raising of these different animals is monitored and they use antibiotics and so on to prevent these things from happening to you. happening to you. But definitely the Bible was right on. Plus the cholesterol and the triglycerides you get from eating pork. It’s definitely proven that people that have a high diet of pork live shorter lives.
I understand in West Virginia where there’s a lot of pork is a main staple part of the diet. The length of life is greatly reduced again because it clogs up your arteries and all those kind of things. But certainly we can eat those things today. We just have to be careful. The Bible says that we’re not under the Old Testament law. And if you turn over to Timothy, it tells us in 1 Timothy 4 that to forbid eating meat is a doctrine of demons.
In 1 Timothy chapter 4, for every creature of God is good, nothing to be refused if it be received with thanksgiving, for it is sanctified by the Word of God and by prayer. So there is nothing that you can’t eat today but I would be careful of all the things that are on the forbidden list. Yes, and one other question about the rest of the church, the same act, you know, I’ll tell you, you take it, but this is…
I have another mess I heard. I won’t name his name. But they seem to be against, seem like it. And they refer to Ezekiel 13 verses 18 through 20, that God is hate in his against to peace over the fly, something about souls or something. And my problem with that is, what’s that got to do with the rest of the church? has absolutely nothing to do with it at all. That’s amazing how they would try to go to some passage like that to try to prove that.
Charles the Rapture is very clearly taught in the Bible and the 1 Thessalonians 4 is the classic passage and it tells us about a group that will be exempted from death that will simply be snatched out the face of the earth and caught up to meet the Lord in the air and that indeed is the Rapture and are numerous verses that talk about it, but there are those who are in denial. And of course we know that generally all the Reformation teaching of replacement theology, predarism denies it.
They say that Christ has already returned in 8070 and that there is no raptured, no tribulation period, no millennium either, and that they believe that the tribulation period was from theory position in fact uh… uh… on the uh… knocks theological seminary website they have an open letter there and that by the way that president of that is jamesy cany uh… it’s uh… lengthy letter i print the whole thing out but signed by a hundred and fifty-four ministers who say that basically israel’s been for that there is no uh…
scripture that would support their right to have that land in the middle east today and uh… the press material church u s a just two years ago avoided the uh… voted the boycott all companies that do business with the country of israel in the middle east and have sided with the palestinian authority i think it’s a shame mmm when the church becomes anti-israel and anti-Semitic based on these false teachings but there is a rapture and God has a plan for Israel and says in Romans 11 2 has God cast away his people which he foreknew it says God forbid God hasn’t cast away Israel.
Israel is very much in God’s program and once the rapture happens we’re going to find Israel emerge to receive her Messiah and Christ will rule over them as king and they’ll be the head nation on the earth So thanks very much Charles for calling in. I’m glad you’re listening out there in Texas on the internet. We have quite a few Texans listening on the internet. Maybe soon we can get on the actual air out there in Texas on a broadcast station.
We now have Adam in Denver, Colorado. Adam, welcome to Bibleline You’re On The Air. Hey, thank you for taking my call, Doctor. I had a couple questions. My wife and I were discussion. The Rapture, and one of the questions that we came up with is, what, when the Rapture does occur, what happens to the people once they are raptured? Do they still live or do they die, or are they given their new body then? And maybe if you can clear that up with this, we’re also discussing the process of, you know, what it talks about in Revelation, is that the Rapture, then Armageddon, Judgment, and then the Thousand Years, or maybe if you can just kind of describe order that it goes in.
And then one more question, I’m sorry Dr., is my wife, this is a question my wife had, is when we do come back, you know, the believers do come back for the thousand year reign, is that when we get our new bodies or what happens? We come back to the life that we had back, you know, before it all happened or what kind of life will it be? Okay, let me just take a stab one by one here. First of all, the Rapture is the next event on God’s program, and at the event of the Rapture, we’re going to be caught up to meet the Lord in the ear, and on the way up will be transformed into our new bodies.
Let me recommend you write down our look up Philippians chapter 3, verse 20, where it says our conversation that says in King James, but in the margin of the Scofield, it points out it really should read citizenship. Our citizenship as Christians, as believers, is in heaven. From whence also we look for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. And that, of course, is the event of the Rapture. And it says, who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body.
According to the working whereby he is able to even do all things unto himself. So, what happens at the Rapture is up on the way up. He… The event of the rapture is when we get our bodies. First the saloonians teach us the same thing. He brings the souls with him when he comes back that are saved and with the Lord right now. When you die as a Christian, second Corinthians five eight says you’re absent from the body, you’re present with the Lord.
And when Christ comes back he brings the souls of those that have died and believed on Christ. changes your body into a glorious new body and that’s when we get our bodies. So the event of the rapture is when we get our bodies. First the saloonians teaches the same thing. He brings the souls with them when he comes back that are saved that are with the Lord right now. When you die as a Christian, 2 Corinthians 5, 8, says you’re absent from the body, your present with Lord.
And when Christ comes back he brings the souls of those that have died that have believed on Christ and they’re given their and they’re giving their brand. brand new bodies at that instant once Christ shouts. But then also just in the twinkling of an eye, following, we which are living in remain are caught up to meet them in the air and then we’ll be given our new bodies on the way up and we’ll be with the Lord from that point on forever and so shall we ever be with the Lord the Bible says.
But then seven years later the end of the tribulation will come back in our glorified bodies to rule and reign with Christ on the earth for a thousand years. And we’ll not be capable of sinning and we’ll certainly be in a new ball game. The Bible says that we won’t be married anymore and I know it’s disappointing to some couples but the Bible tells us that in 1922-30 that in our resurrection bodies we will neither Mary, nor will we be given in marriage, but we will be like the angels who don’t marry.
So, when we’re with the Lord and come back, now I think we’ll know each other, I think we’ll remember, and certainly we’ll have wonderful memories, but our family members and children and grandchildren and all of that, but we simply will not be married anymore. There will be no procreation in heaven. So, a lot of things will be different, but it’s going to be wonderful and we’ll be forever with the Lord. I hope that helps a little bit there. The order is the Rapture, then the Tribulation Period, then the Second Coming, then the thousand-year reign of Christ.
Then the destruction of this earth at the end of the thousand years, and then the new heavens and the new earth, where we’ll live with the Lord forever, and our home will be the New Jerusalem. Okay, so the our began will happen after this thousand years. No, the battle arm again happens at the end of the seven year tribulation period. And the end of the seven year tribulation, okay, before the thousand years. That’s great. Okay. And I’m glad I’m leaving at the rapture.
I don’t want to be here for that terrible battle. Okay, and what about the judgment and the judgment seat of price and you know the believers will be getting awarded? That happens at the rapture. the rapture will be standing before the Lord of the Judgement of Christ. While the tribulation period is occurring on the planet earth in heaven, you and I will be examined at Judgement of Christ, then our rewards will be handed out. Paul talks about it in 2 Timothy chapter 4.
He talks about how that Jesus Christ, the righteous judge, will judge us at his appearing. And of course then he says that one of the crowns that he would receive was the crown of righteousness 2 Timothy 4 8 which is given to all those that love his appearing. So I think Adam, you and I and most believers could probably get that crown. I don’t think it would be a piece of cake if we’re watching and looking for Christ’s return and living our lives in that expectancy.
We’ll get that same crown that Paul is going to get. He hasn’t gotten it yet. He’s saying he’s going to get it when Christ comes back and when he appears at the Rapture and that’s when we’re going to get our crowns as well this one more question of the people that don’t believe they are in eighty that right now that is correct uh… so when the judge they will also be judged when we are just right now they they are judged at a totally different judgment at the end of the thousand year and of christ so the judgment we’re going to stand at is called the judgment seat of christ second timothy a rather second grandians of five ten but in Revelation chapter 20 at the end of the thousand years it talks about the great white throne judgment in verse 11 of chapter 20
of Revelation and there the unsaved dead are brought up out of Hades and Judge according to their works and assigned a degree of punishment and help. Okay now I got it. I thank you very much. You welcome. I’m so glad you guys are listening out there in Denver, Colorado. Thank you doctor. Bye bye. So you’re welcome to call in the phone number. Here’s 1-800-576-3771. Ken, in Decatur, Illinois, calls in and leaves us all for a question. Israel, my glory magazine, you recommend.
Do you know the doctoral statement for the magazine? Is it a good magazine or organization to support? Yeah, they’ve been a very sound organization. For years and years, friends of Israel is the organization and they are wanting to lead Jewish people to Christ. And I know several of their staff, one of them took some Bible classes from me years and years ago. But good organization and that last month’s or the one I guess the May issue was incredible all about replacement theology and predarism and how it’s totally contrary to the Bible position that should not be accepted.
It was a great, great teaching. But those are great magazines and I like the organization very much. you can. The Canada Decatur Eolenoy Listening, we’re up in that part of the country and we hope that you’re enjoying the program. We have James in Plant City calls in with an offer of questions. He says, God’s only son. How much of a sacrifice was it if God knew the outcome? Well, you know, let me just say, even if you knew you had a child that was going to die, and obviously your children will die one day.
How would you be impacted by it? It’s obviously something that I wouldn’t even want to go there to play that game, but obviously it was very significant. I would read Luke Schossel and read chapter 22 and 23. Jesus as he approached the event of the cross, the night of the betrayal of Nicarlic Yosemite, he agonized in prayer. And he knew how horrible that incident would be when he would die to pay for the sins of the world, to be made sin for you and me.
And God would turn his back on him and God’s wrath would come upon Christ as he paid for your sin and mine. The Bible says he agonized and even sweat drops of blood. Today we know medically under stream conditions of stress that the capillaries in the sweat glands break and blood is mingled with the sweat. I’ve never had that happen and you probably haven’t had it happen either. But James Christ really sweated blood. Obviously, it was a horrific event, and God certainly loved us greatly to be willing to give His only son.
I don’t really think I would even go there with a question like that. Thank you, and we’re now going to go to Anonymous in Florida somewhere roaming around. We don’t know what city but Anonymous, welcome to my mind, you’re on the air. Yes, hello. I’m new to this radio station. I don’t really know the doctor I’m speaking to or his religious background or anything denomination, but I sue me as a Christian man. I had a question for him about something I’ve been struggling with as a Christian woman for a while.
Okay. Am I talking with the doctor now? You are right now in the air. Okay. Well, I was making a long story short. I was married and my husband died, and then I remarried, which according to the Bible I was allowed to do. But I think I jumped into that remarriage too soon and I realized after four or five years it wasn’t working out so I got divorced. Then after my divorce, I don’t know if I was on the rebound again, I ended up getting married after that again.
Now which is my third husband now. The first one died. Now I’m on my second husband after my first one died. And he is not a Christian. He’s an unbeliever. He’s of a different faith. And what I want to know, I was raised years ago in a church of Christ, but now I don’t go to a church of Christ now. I go to a different type of denominational church, which I don’t really, denomination is kind of confusing anyways, but we have to all pick a church to go to.
But according to my church of Christ, foster mom who raised me, she says to me that I’m still committing adultery with this man because of sexual intercourse with him or any relations with him because according to the Bible she said you were not allowed to have divorced your second husband which you married after the first husband died. You were allowed to marry that second man because you were a widow but then you should not have divorced him even though things weren’t working out and get married again.
So she says now you are under punishment from God basically forever and that you’re committing adultery with this third husband every time you sleep with him well first of all your salvation is not a fact that at all what you trust christ and the church of christ has uh… a list of a lot of it seems like a and uh… amount of work you have to do to be saying pretty water baptism you’re saved by the finished work of christ when he died on the cross He paid for your sins.
He gives eternal life as a gift based upon the fact that he’s totally paid your sin death. So the area that we’re really discussing here is the Christian life, and that’s a totally different area. That affects of course God’s blessings and rewards. But as far as being saved, I hope you’ve trusted Jesus alone as the only means of your salvation. if you have, then you are saved forever. So I hope that’s settled in your life that you have trusted just today.
Well, absolutely. I’ve trusted them. Now I go to a Penny Caulford Church, and so they have more freedom of the Holy Spirit, even teaching about the Holy Spirit working our lives. I understand the difference now between the Church of Christ and how Penny Caulford allows you to learn about the Holy Spirit touching us. But I’ve trusted Jesus a long time ago, but just that my foster mom makes me always feel that I’m going to hell because she said you have no right to have married this third man.
So I looked at 1 Corinthians and it does say in Corinthians that you can have a second husband if you’re a widow, which I was. But then if you do put him away and divorce him, you should remain as you are and stay single. But I didn’t really adhere to that. I guess I was the type of person who needs companionship and I don’t want to be alone. like fell in love with this third gentleman and he fell in love with me and we get a long sign.
I mean even though he’s an unbeliever he’s of a different religious background altogether and but things are working out okay with us. I mean it’s just that the second husband after the first one died didn’t seem to work out because we just didn’t get along and I realized it was a rebound. Maybe this one here is a rebound but I feel I love this one here and I don’t believe my I saw his loss on my neighbor. I talked to her about it and she told me to read about King David, how he committed adultery with Bathsheba.
Of course, God forgave him, but then he ended up having to suffer all types of things for the rest of his life because of that sin, but God did forgive it. So that helped me a little bit to feel that God has forgiven me, but it’s just that she’s pounded my foster mom into me so much that you had no right like Corinthians says, once you divorced your second husband, you should have remained single, otherwise be reconciled to the man you were with.
And if you can’t be reconciled to him, you should have remained single. You should have never ever remarried the rest of your life. Well, I’m a young woman and I didn’t want to pass all my nights alone. It’s not about sexual things. It was about companionship and human need of having company, you know. Sure. Well. Getting their together and going on walks together and things like that. We’re humans. We have a nature to be with us as human being.
Well, obviously you can’t turn back the clock. And now you are in a situation. And ideally, you’ll lead this man to Christ because you obviously want to spend eternity with him, I would hope. And unless he trusts Christ, he will not go to heaven. And the Bible says in 1 Corinthians 7, you read that very carefully, that you can be the instrument whereby you can lead him to Christ. And I would hope you would do that. And certainly God does forgive.
But there are consequences to all of our actions in life. And some of those consequences will carry with you. But yet you’re saved and that’s the wonderful thing is that once you’re saved, Christ says I will have no wise cast you out and in John 6, 30, 70 says that but in verse 30, 90 says He would never lose you. So you’re saved eternally and now you just need to address the issue there that your husband in order to be able to be a real companion spiritually as well who needs to come to know Christ and you can be a real instrument of God the leading to Christ.
I hope you do that. We have a great book at our resource center, or you can get it in your Christian book store. It’s by Chuck Swindall, and it’s called Strike the Original Match. That is the best presentation that talks about all these different issues and would really help you through this. So you don’t think I’m sinning? Every time I have sexual relations? No. You don’t think I’m sinning and I’ll be, I’m still an adulteress. No. Being with this man and you don’t think I need to divorce him just because my foster mom told me it’s a sin against God until you die.
No. You don’t think I’m committing sin because every time if I have sex relation, my husband, then I feel so guilty. I’m crying out to God. Oh God, what have I done? Just to have love in my life. Now I’m an adulterous until I die. And please forgive me again. I think you need to move forward and know that the Lord has forgiven you and now lead him to Christ and both of you live for Christ. Well, if I can, it’s going to be hard with him because he’s an Islamic man.
He’s a Muslim man, so it’s going to be very difficult, so I’m going to need a lot of prayers on that one. Okay. But I do love him and he lets me talk to him about Jesus. He has a different belief as a Muslim who Jesus is, but he allows me sometimes to read the Bible to him and I have to agree to let him read his Toronto to me. But we share and we get along. We have some good information here on how to leave a Muslim to Christ.
The more the Koran is full of contradictions and you can point them out and maybe lead them to Christ. It would be great. Anyway, we’re out of time here and I wish we had time to catch more callers that are waiting. We’ll have to wait till tomorrow.
