My blessings to you and all the people that tune in for what is the best hour of my working day.
I only wish it could last longer. He goes on and says many more things, but I thought you’d like to hear those comments. We also got one here, dear Dr. Lindstrom. This is from Kevin. He says, after searching for a church home in Pinellas County for the past eight years, I finally gave up. I attended your church services for the first time this past Sunday. In all honesty, I have to tell you that several times during your service, tears wowed up in my eyes as I thanked God for prompting me to attend your church.
I have listened to your radio broadcast for years, but I thought I could find a decent church, but alas, I could not. I’ll be back, along with my wife, when we return from our vacation. Thank you for your excellent teachings of the whole Bible. We’re excited to get these letters of encouragement and hearing how people are responding to our Bible and program and we’re excited about people all over the world. We just talked to our missionary to Japan this morning and he is excited about what Bible I’m doing and how it’s impacted his life and how he is attempting to get all the The missionaries you know is in Japan to be tuning in to Bible on.
We hope that you will pass that word along to your friends that are missionaries in other countries and also family and friends that are living in other countries because anywhere in the world. If you take the internet, you can take a journey to visit Bible on every day. At the time of day it’s convenient for you because it sits there on the internet for you to listen to at any time you desire. Well we’re going to go over to the book of Revelation for a few moments now and we’re going to turn to chapter 3 in verse 5 which is a fascinating verse, Revelation chapter 3 verse 5, if you have your Bible there you might want to turn.
It says here, he that overcome us, the same shall be clothed in white rainmen and I will not brought out his name out of the book of life. But I will confess his name before my father and before his angels. What an incredible verse. But you know, you have to define the terms. It says here, he that overcome it. And guess what? This is where most people go wrong. And overcomer is a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, one who has trusted Christ as his savior.
Most people, and I have this wrong idea for many years myself, I thought an overcomer, that’s somebody not me, not me, that has to be a very special super Christian, somebody who’s really living the Christian life and is right on the cutting edge and up there in the top percentile of Christians that love a word and are serving him, and that has to be somebody else than me. But guess what? Let’s go to the verse that describes this or defines this in its first John 5, 4.
It says, for whatsoever is born of God, overcome of the world, and this is the victory that overcomeeth the world, even our faith. It’s saying here, if you’ve been born again, you’re an overcomer. If you’ve been born again, an overcomer and even better than that. It is 1 John 5, 5 that says, who is he that overcometh the world? Answer, he that believe it that Jesus is the Son of God. If you believe or trust that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that he is your Savior, you are an overcomer by virtue of the fact that Christ overcame on our behalf death, the grave, Satan, the penalty for sin and death, Jesus Christ became the victor and He overcame the devil and overcame the grave and overcame the penalty for sin and death and He did that on our behalf and so therefore we who are believers are overcomers.
I can’t emphasize this enough. Write it down, 1 John 5, 4 and 5, 1 John 5, 4 and 5, it says in verse 4, For whatsoever is born of God. Have you been born again if you have, then you’re in this verse. It says, for whatsoever is born of God, overcome with the world. And this is the victory that overcome with the world, even our faith, verse 5. Who is he that overcome with the world, but he that believe that Jesus is the Son of God.
This is something that happens at the moment you believe. the moment you believe you become saved and you become saved eternally. And so in Revelation 3.5 when it talks about an overcomer talking about you and me, a believer, one who’s trusted Jesus Christ as his Savior. And it says three things here concerning us. It says in Revelation 3.5, he did overcome of the same shall be clothed in white raiment. What speaks about our… The Bible describes that as a robe of righteousness, the garment that we have as a saved person, that we are clothed with the righteousness of Christ.
And so the Bible describes that as a robe of salvation or a garment of salvation. And this white arrangement is, I believe, speaks of the righteousness of Christ that we will have at the moment we trust Christ and forever thereafter. Let me give you a great cross reference. This is back in Isaiah chapter 61. And in Isaiah 61, it talks about this very robe of righteousness that believers have. And this is one of my favorite verses. It says in verse 10 of Isaiah 61, I will greatly rejoice in the Lord.
My soul shall be joyful in my God, for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation. He hath covered me with the robe of righteousness.” Wow, there you have it. And so the Bible tells us that the Lord Himself is the one that closes us with the garments of salvation, the robe of righteousness. It’s pictured way back there in Genesis where we have, I believe, the salvation of Adam and He’s pictured for us in Genesis chapter 3. It says, Adam by faith called his wife Eve.
He named his own wife. We don’t get that privilege, do we? Obviously we can name our children, but we cannot name our wives. But here Adam actually chose the name for his wife, Eve. And Eve means mother of all living. And here was Adam’s faith expressed in the promise that God had made in Genesis 3.15. that the woman would have seed and that seed of the woman would destroy or defeat Satan one day, talks of the redemption of the human race through a savior that would come through the seed of the woman, which is probably a veiled reference to the virgin birth, because we find the seed is always passed on through the man, but here talks about a woman having seed without a man, that’s probably the virgin birth in that this virgin-born child, the Lord Jesus Christ, would be victorious over the devil.
And Adam believed that. And before Eve ever had the first child, he called her Eve the mother of all living, the mother of all living because he believed the promise that she would have children. And down through time the Messiah would come, the seat of the woman, the Lord Jesus Christ who would defeat Satan. And as he is the overcomer, we become overcomers by trusting in what he accomplished for us at the cross. As a result, the very next verse in Genesis chapter 3 says that God clothed them with coats of skins of animals, that God clothed them.
Well before that, you know what happened? Adam and Eve decided to cover themselves with fig leaves. That’s right. Adam went out and got some fig leaves and this is Adam. Eve got her throwing sheen out and they said these beautiful fig leaf garments. They put a moment, God said, that doesn’t work. That doesn’t cover your sin. And so we notice here a picture of Christ. An innocent animal had to be slain. Christ was innocent, sinless, and had to be slain for you and me.
The blood of that animal had to be shed. Christ’s blood had to be shed at the cross to pay for our sins. And that the animal itself, its fur, its outer covering became the covering for Adam and Eve. And we find that God is the one who clothed them. They didn’t do a thing. It was their faith in the belief in the coming Savior that brought about their salvation. And the same thing in the picture is true of us.
Jesus, being the innocent substitute, died for us. His blood was shed. His righteousness becomes our covering. And God is the one that closed us. Because when we trust Him, we are clothed by Him. Look at verse 5 of Revelation 3. He that overcometh the same shall be what? Plowed in white raiment, God will put the cloth on you. It is His righteousness. You are seeing in His righteousness the moment you believe. Secondly, Revelation 3.5, I will not blot out His name out of the book of life.
I will not blot His name out. Most people get this wrong. We are always taught usually that your name is written down when you become a believer. That’s not true. Everybody’s name is in the book to begin with, because God made provision for everyone to go to heaven. There’s not a reason why anybody should go to hell. If they trust Christ the Savior, they’ll all be saved. But because man has given us a choice and you can reject Christ as your Savior, there will be those who will not enter heaven.
And if they die as an unbeliever, their name is stricken from the book at the moment of death. But as this verse promises, at the moment you believe, at the moment you trust Christ, God makes a promise to you and me as believers, I will not bought your name. I will not bought your name out of the book of life.” Wow! What is it saying here? My name will never be blotted out of the book of life. And if you’re a believer, your name will never come out of the book of life.
What is it saying? You can’t be lost. It’s amazing how many people believe you can lose your salvation and they don’t realize how far they are from the truth of God’s Word. How far they are for what the Bible proclaims everywhere. It says right here, if you become a believer, which is what an overcomer is, 1 John 5, 4, and 5, who is he that overcometh? The one that believes that Jesus Christ or trust that Christ is the Savior, the Son of God.
1 John 5, 5. And if you’re a believer, your name will never come out of the book. It says it right here, Revelation 3, 5. He’s that overcometh. God says here, I will not blot his name out of the book of life, your name will never come out. My name is never going to come out. I’m going to heaven no matter what. I’m saved forever. I can’t be lost because God has made a promise that not only has He given me eternal life, He’ll never want my name out of the book.
And then lastly, He says, thirdly, I will confess His name before my Father and before His angels. Well, guess what? The moment you become saved, there’s an announcement made in heaven that there’s going to be a new arrival, you, that you are now a child of God, a child of heaven, a child of the Lord Jesus Christ, a child of God, and you will enter heaven one day and they already know you’re coming at the moment you believe. Your name is mentioned, confessed, announced in heaven at the moment you believe.
Really good news. I’m Dr. Englund, and this is my mind. It’s great to be with you. We’re going to go to the phone lines and if you have your phone there and you’re ready to call it’s 1-800-576-3771. 1-800-576-3771. Give us a call and we’ll put you right up on the air and try to answer your question today. I’m going to jump to a couple of offer questions real quick here. We have Beth in Valrico, Florida and she calls in off air and leaves this question in regard to the verse that says you reap what you sow is this speaking to believers?
Does it pertain to life here on earth or is it referring to our time in heaven? What it’s saying here is that what you reap you sow is a law of that a farmer abides by. If you plant wheat, you’re going to get wheat. If you plant corn, you’re going to get corn. Obviously, whatever you reap your goodness. What you do in your life will bring about a crop, a result that you will actually experience for all eternity. You reap what you sow.
If you plant good things, spiritual things in your life, you’re going to reap those those kind of benefits in your life. But if you sewed to the world and to evil, then you’ll have those kinds of consequences in your life as well. And so many people say, I’ve got to go sew my wild oats while I’m young. And then later they pray for a crop failure because all of a sudden the result of their sewing to the world comes back to haunt them.
You really want to sow your seed for the Lord and have the results that God wants to bring about for you. Where are you down to Hollywood Florida? We’re going to talk to Eddie. Eddie’s on the line and Eddie, welcome to Bibleline from Hollywood Florida. Eddie, you’re on the air. Hey, how are you doing? God, the Hank. Good. Good, good. I’m not questioning is there are all the Jews going to be saved? Were they all be saved? All of the Jews?
Well, the answer is all the Jews believe on Jesus Christ as their Savior. You know, in Romans 10, you might want to write this down. All says my brother and my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they might be saved. And then he points out the mistake that they make, the same mistake that we Gentiles make, and that is we go about to establish our own righteousness and have not He responded to the righteousness of God that we need to have to enter heaven.
Then in verse 4, Romans 10, he tells us the answers to believe on Christ. When you trust Christ, then you have God’s righteousness credited to your account and then you’re able to enter heaven. And Paul was saying here, his heart’s desire was for Jewish people to go to heaven. He says, I bear the record that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. they don’t. They don’t realize that they have to have God’s righteousness to go to heaven.
Unless they have that righteousness, they’ll not make it in. Just like we were talking about a Revelation 3, 5 a moment ago, you’ll be clothed with a robe of righteousness, this garment of salvation when you trust Christ as your Savior. It’s only that righteousness that gets you in. No, it says there’s no difference, Romans 10, 12, between the Jew and the Gentile, every Every one of us are condemned because of our sin, need a Savior, and then it says, who is the spiritual coliform?
The name of the Lord shall be saved. Whether you are Jewish or whether you are Gentile. Alright, thank you so much. That’s Romans 10, a great chapter that talks about there is no difference. Jews and Gentiles alike are lost without Christ. You need to trust Him to be saved. We are now going to go to Bob in Tampa, Florida, and Bob, welcome to the Bible and you are on the air. Dr. Hank, how are you doing? uh… question about revelation seventeen nine the seven or eighteen there uh…
i’d come across something i had a different interpretation other than the one i had thought where they’re basically making a case that the the seven king or the uh… seven pope and that john paul is basically the uh… the beef that’s going to come back at the mccamanic one of the best man Well, that’s not the case at all. It says here in verse 9, Revelation 17, and here’s the mind which has wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, or seven hills.
Actually, the Greek word is auras. And the seven, the city, verse 18, the woman is also a city. . Verse 18 says, the woman which sells sauce is that great city which reigneth over the kings of the earth. And we believe that the city built upon seven hills is Rome. Even the Roman Catholic Bibles that I have here in my library all say that this is talking about Rome and it says here There’s a double meaning because it says not only are they seven hills the one on which the city sits Which is Rome but in verse 10 there it says they are also seven kings For our kingdoms it should read five or fallen one is in the others not yet come Well, when John wrote this, he was living during the reign of the Roman Empire.
He says at that time, one is that was Rome, and there were five world powers before that. They begin with Egypt. You read about that early in Genesis, then Assyria, then the third one was Babylon, the fourth was the Medo-Persian Empire, the fifth was Greece, all of those were fallen at the time that John writes this in the book of Revelation, the one that was presently ruling at the time John writes this was Rome and then he says there’s another one yet to come and we believe that is at the end of this age which we’re living now to see that and that is the nations of Europe coming together and then it tells us here and the beast it was and is not even he is the eighth and is of the seven and he goes into the tradition.
was talking here about the Antichrist and actually when he comes along, I believe he’ll be the head of this country, the United States of America. And so the seventh is the nations of Europe coming together, which you’ve already seen. And after the rapture when the Antichrist comes to power, he’s going to militarily take over Europe and that’ll be the eighth. And he will of course be destroyed by the return of Christ and be cast into hell. And obviously this has not yet happened because it says here that these 10 will give their power over to the Antichrist.
They have verse 13, they’ll have one mind and give their power and strength unto the beast, that’s the Antichrist, the 8th kingdom. And it says these shall make war with the Lamb, that’s Christ, and the Lamb shall overcome them. I don’t ever remember reading where the 10 nations of the leadership of the Levite of nation make war against Jesus and loose, but that’s going to happen at Armageddon and Christ will win because he’s the War of Wars and King of Kings and David are with him.
That’s us who are going to come back with him, are called and chosen and faithful and will rule and reign with Christ on this earth for a thousand years. As a quick summary of what I believe is talking about, and it certainly is not talking about Pope’s here. I guess their point was that when John was in the vision, he was looking at the sixth and then the seventh, which is going to rain for a short time, and then he comes back after.
So, completely different. No, it can’t be that. He’s really talking about one was presently ruling at the time he wrote this. That couldn’t be John Paul. It couldn’t be a pope, it’s talking about world kingdoms and five of them were fallen. That was Egypt, Assyrian, Babylon, the Mido-Persian Empire, the Grecian Empire and Rome was in charge and was the present tense ruling power at the time of John. Then the next one would be the in-time form of Rome coming back to life which has happened in the European coming market.
So the kings are being misinterpreted. It should be kingdoms. I can’t. That’s correct. OK. Thanks a lot. Thank you, Bob. Boy, our front lines are all lighted up there. Everything is brightly lit here flashing red lights. But we have to go to break. So I’m going to say that I will take all these calls. If you can hold on, I will catch you as we come back from the break. I’m Dr. Anclinsham. This is Bibleline. I hope every one of you are saved.

And this is the joy of it. You’ll come back different. You’ll come back learning so much that you’ll be impacted forever. And that’s exciting to get in on the Bible all day long on the location as to where these things have happened. We’re going to go back to our phone lines, the phone is 1-800-576-3771. Write that down someplace, 1-800-576-3771. We’re going to Sanford, Florida. We have Mary Ann on the line. Mary Ann, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air.
Yes? Last two, this one-man cold and talked about the home of faith in the big act. I know he was right but the fine ring and I didn’t get to know what the bottom line was so I called it. do you still remember? Well the bottom line was that our churches are departing away from the purpose for which they were founded, you know, according to the Bible. The church is the believers of this age, which are really the church, not the building, that were to come together to study his word, to fellowship and encourage one another, and then to take what we learn out in the community and win people for Christ.
But he was talking about the churches that become more social and people just like to dress up and the young people like to wear their bling and they come to show off and then they go right back out and join the world in sinful and wrong practices rather than affecting the world for Christ and bringing the world to Christ, the world seems to have total control over them. So it’s a commentary on our churches today that we’re not really doing the job that we should.
It seems like if every church was doing the job that they were called to do, we would be winning our world to Christ, but we seem to be losing the battle and the world is becoming more evil rather than revival taking place. Second Timothy chapter 3 verse 13 says, Evil men will grow worse and worse deceiving and being deceived. living in that age right now. We’re not impacting the world as we should. We obviously really ought to be impacting the world with the message of Christ.
Oh, good, Dan. Thank you, sir. Mary Ann, good to have you listening over there in Sanford, Florida. We are now going to Violet down in Miami, Florida. Welcome to Bibleline, and you’re on the air. Hi, thank you for taking my call. I was raised in the church and I’ve always been taught that you can lose your salvation. So hearing you quote scripture and saying that no you can’t brings light to me. But doesn’t the Bible say that 40 chambers won’t be able to see the kingdom of God?
Well, you’re absolutely right. But it talks about when you trust Christ that then God sees you as being right. So, a s Aadhaar, no matter what sins you have committed, can be saved and they are saved for everyone they trust Christ. So, if you read that passage that you are referring to and it is in 1 Corinthians 6, 9-11, you have to read verse 11 where it says, and such were some of you, but you are washed, you are sanctified, you are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.
So if you remained lost without Christ, any sin, including fordication or even telling a lie, would cause you to go to hell. But when you trust Christ, the Bible says you’re washed. We’re washed in the blood. Don’t you love that hymn? I’m washed in the blood. Nothing but the blood can wash away my sin. And when you trust Christ, the blood of Christ cleanses us from all sin. So an innocent. Sir, let’s say you keep on selling and you know you’re selling but at some point in your life you did not give the price as your Lord and say it’s still to get saved.
When you trust Christ, you’re safe forever. Now if you continue to sin, God will spank you if you are a delinquent believer. In 1 Corinthians 5 you have an illustration of this where a man is saved. He is living in a formication with his mother. It is probably a stepmother. He is proud. He is not willing to stop. It says in verse 5 there to deliver such a one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh that the Spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.
Apparently, God would allow Satan to take his life and he’d go to heaven early, but he’d still be saved. In other words, God can thank you and he might even take you home to have a sin and you plan on going, Violet, but you’re still saved. I think I lost Violet there. But once you’re saved, you’re saved forever. John 637, get this. I talked to one woman and I told her she couldn’t lose her salvation. He says, but pastor, you don’t realize what I have done.
If I told you, if you only knew the sins that I’ve committed, do you agree with me that God would cast me out? And I said, well, let’s look at the scripture. In John 637, Jesus say up there, him that cometh to me, I will in no wise cast out. And so I asked her, I said, have you trusted Christ as your Savior? Have you become them? Yes. is what it says here. If you’ve come to him, I will in no wise cast you out, except that they commit the sins that you’ve committed.
No, there’s no exception clause. In other words, once you trust Christ, he will in no wise or in no case, under no circumstances, would he ever cast you out? And then some people say, well, okay, he won’t cast me out, but I can cast myself out if I sin or if I don’t want salvation anymore. That’s not even possible. Look at John 639. Jesus said, this is the Father’s will. You can’t go any higher than God the Father as far as the chain of command.
This is the Father’s will, Jesus says, in John 639, that of all which you have given me, I should lose none. No any, none. But raise them all up against the last day. He’s not going to lose one person. If one person in all of history were ever lost after they came into no crisis, Savior, Jesus of be a liar. The Bible wouldn’t be true. But Christ will never cast out anyone. Well, thank you, Violet. I hope that helps.
And write those verses down. John 637, John 639. We’re going to Darnell in St. Petersburg. And Darnell, welcome to Bibleline your own ear. Hey, Dr. Hank, how you doing? Good. Good. Good. Good. Yeah. I’ll just share with my mother called me last night. She works at a moon tail around here. And she was like, She said there’s a lot of Jewish people here and they’re acting real loopy. I said, what were you talking about? She said, she proposed to us here because she said, what is Passover?
And then I explained to her, I explained to her what Passover was, and she said, they’re lighting candles. I mean, they won’t like candles. They asked them if they like candles. They asked them if they open up doors and something like that. They can’t bring their own food in there. They have to eat the food that they have in there. I thought they only did stuff like that on a Sabbath. Why are they doing that stuff? Do you have to cancel the town?
Well, all these feast days God gave the Israel. There are seven are high holy days and they’re also considered Sabbath even though they don’t fall on Saturday. So, yeah, they follow the same rules and so they can’t really do any kind of work. They are not allowed to cook food and so they have to eat food they already have had prepared from before the the holy day. day of Passover. So you’re exactly right. They’re deserving of the Old Testament law.
And of course, I’m afraid that most of them miss the fact that the real point of Passover was that the Lamb had to be slain, the blood had to be shed, the blood had to be applied, and those who applied the blood to the doorpost, when the angel of the Lord came through at midnight, would spare them. He would come and pass over their home in judgment. And The same is true of us when we trust in Christ as the Passover Lamb that God passes over us in judgment and we’re spared going to hell because of what Christ did for us by His substitutionary death on the cross for our sins.
So that’s what’s going on, Darnell. One more thing. What now? She said they’re supposed to be going something else or something else or something. What is that? Well, this week, of course, is also leading up to the Feast of First Roots, and then 50 days after that, the Feast of Pentecost. This is a special time of the year for the Jews, and they’ll be celebrating several of these high-holding days. They’re all listed there in Leviticus 23 for you to read.
And so it’s interesting to learn about, and obviously these are prophetic pictures that were fulfilled in Christ’s first coming. He died as the Passover lamb was buried during the Feast of Unleavened Bread, rose from the dead on the Feast of First Fruits Day, and then fifty days later the Holy Spirit came at Pentecost and began his present age. So you have a beautiful outline of what would happen that has already not been fulfilled in those feast days. Thank you, Darnell.
That was great to talk to you. We now have Keith in Jacksonville, Florida. Welcome to Bibleline from Jacksonville, Florida Good morning, dr. Hank good morning Praise God for grace of Jesus Christ amen Hey, I’ve got a question for you sir Talk on my pastor you look yesterday. We’re talking about the age of accountability And how I’m gonna find some scriptures on it when I went home last night and I’m having a little problem with it Then we have the Bible says that we’re all born in the sin and that the way to the sin is death and And we’re trying to reconcile that, sir.
All right. It’s not on every page of the Bible, but children that die before these accountability will go to heaven. We have a great passage here in 2 Samuel 1223, when David’s child became ill after seven days, the child died. And David said in verse 23 of 2 Samuel 12, the child will not return to me, but all going to be with that child. Then we know David was saved and David said in the 23rd Psalm, I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
So David was saying he would see his child again and that he would go to be with the child. So we know the child obviously was saved because David was saved and David was going to see his child again. As far as to the age of accountability, I think the only passage that really made any sense to me and I searched and searched for years and years and finally I found it and it’s really the last verse in the book of Jonah.
God tells Jonah that there were 120,000 children in the city of Benjamin. That was a huge city, well over a million people. 120,000 there were children and he defines where the break is, I think, by saying that they couldn’t tell their left hand from their right hand. Apparently, this would allow for the development of the child to be different than every child and when a child becomes of age where they can discern the left hand from the right hand, they then are accountable.
I think it’s pretty young. Although I know some adults that can’t tell that I from the right hand. So maybe they’re… One other question. What about a mentally… Well, I think they’d never become accountable. Some of them would be accountable, but some of them got only those which are which, but some of them i think you’re never going to be accountable at all they just can’t make the choice but i appreciate your help sir and uh… i enjoy your program well beautiful thank you for listening up there in uh…
jackson will for it we’re not going to go to gerome in richmond virginia and uh… gerome welcome to bible and you’re on the earth yes uh… good morning doctor hank let me show uh… question i have people christian uh… jazz in a back street and state. In the answer is no, they would not. In fact, let me give you this word. This is worth money. We ought to stop and pass an offering plate. I’m teasing. But Hebrews, chapter 10 has a great verse on this and you might want to write this one down.
And I’m turning there right now in my Bible. I’m almost there. I’m in Hebrews, chapter 10. And it says in verse 35, but we, that is Christians, this is a great verse. This is verse 39, excuse me. Hebrews 10.39, the writer of Hebrews is obviously saved and he includes himself in this we, but we are not of them who draw back, or backslide, under perdition that’s health. So we as believers are not of them who backslide under hell or into hell, but of them that what, believe to the saving or the deliverance of the soul.
So when we believe we are delivered from hell forever and even if we backslide which is what is talking about here, we cannot backslide into hell. That’s impossible. Once you’ve cut trust Christ, you are passed from death on the life, you’ve received the gift of eternal life and you will never wind up in hell. Now you’ll suffer the laws of reward in eternity for those things that you’ve done and you’ll be embarrassed and I think you’ll be ashamed and I think you’ll experience regret but you’ll never go to help you uh…
thank you dot com okay i hope that helps and thank you to run that was your own up in richmond virginia we have atom in taphne for the atom welcome to bible yeah i have a couple of questions on one is uh… in johnny The woman that was caught in adultery received. We know whether to the believer or not or whether she would have it. It doesn’t. it doesn’t say uh… but i’m hoping so she definitely uh… could have been killed there if it hadn’t been for christ and uh…
jesus obviously telling us that uh… god is forgiving and uh… that all of us are sinners and in need of a savior and and uh… he said he is without sin let him cast the first on and everybody walked away and he told her to not go back and commit that particular sin again adultery i hope that she’ll will see her and i think we probably will obviously uh… i think that uh… truly having uh… heard the Lord and been forgiven to walk away from death and to live.
She probably was paying attention. I hope she trusted Christ. Okay, my other, the Feast of… No, that’s the Feast of Hanukkah is in chapter 10 of John. It’s the Festival of Lights or the Feast of Dedication. The Feast of Booths is the Feast of Tamernacles, which happens in the fall. And of course the Dead at Peace of Education, or Hanukkah, is not one of the seven ordained feast days, but it is a feast that is observed by the Jews ever since 165 BC when a group of zealot priests freed Jerusalem from the wicked Anticus epiphanies who had come in and conquered Jerusalem and defiled the worship there and the temple put a pig on the altar and stopped the Jewish worship system.
And they of course liberated Jerusalem and the temple and started the worship service again. And of course for eight days the menorah in the temple stayed lighted with only one day zol. That was the miracle that took place. It was still celebrated at the time of Christ. It’s still celebrated today. But the Jews missed the real point there. It’s all about Jesus because He is the light that the menorah represents. And He is the one for whom the temple was built.
And they’re celebrating the rededication of a temple back in 165 BC that doesn’t even exist today. But missed the greater picture of Christ, who is the light of the world. And He is the one for whom the temple was built built that we should accept and trust him as a Savior always saved. One last thing is in John 12 verse 26 if there’s anyone who serves me and must follow me and where I am, could you just expound on that and I ain’t got to listen but could you talk mostly about the word follow in there?
I’ll be heavy. I’ll be happy to do that. John chapter 12 and verse 26 and I’m almost there. Let’s see here. John chapter 12 and I think you said verse 26. My page is sticking together. John 12 verse 26 says, If any man serves me, let him follow me. And externalTo that’s how you serve the word, is following Christ. And let me define it by turning the Matthew 4 19 where Christ said, Follow me and I’ll make you what?
Pitches of men. So the way we serve Christ is by following him. and if we are a follower of Christ, we’ll become fishes of men or we’ll become soul letters. Then he says, and where I am, here shall also my servant be. If any man served me, him will on my father honor. He’s talking about rewards here. Honor is equivalent to being rewarded for your faithful service in serving him, but salvation, Of course, we know is a gift and is simply received by faith without works.
But after we are saved, we should be servants, and if we serve Him, we’ll be honored. And we serve Him by becoming a follower. Hope that helps. And Adam has already gone off the line and was listening. Well, we are so glad to be with you. Let me just give you that 800 number again. 1-800-576-3771. Leo in Tampa calls in with a software question. My wife and I have a friend that walks around her house speaking in tongues, quote unquote.
Having listened to your show a while, I told her that tongues is dead. She said to prove it in the Bible, where is tongues dead? Well, in 1 Corinthians 13, 8 through 10, it tells us that several of the gifts were temporary in nature and that they would be discontinued when the New Testament was complete or when the Bible was completed. And that happened at the end of the first century somewhere on 1896 when the book of Revelation capped off the Bible with its final book.
And so tongues ceased at that time. There’s nobody today speaking in tongues. What is being called tongues today is a gibberish. But if you look up the word language in Acts chapter 2, the Greek word is dialectos and it means a specific dialect of a specific language. What people are doing today is not understood by the one who is speaking it nor by the one who is hearing it. And yet the Bible says in 1 Corinthians 14 about the real gift of tongues when it was still operating.
It says in verse 9 of 1 Corinthians 14, except you speak by the tongue, words easy to be understood how shall it be known what is spoken? You’re wasting everybody’s time. You just speak into the air. So if nobody understands the disjibber, then it’s not the real language gift that God gave. The real language gift was to speak words easily understood. It would be easily understood by the hearer. And so if you speak in tongues, you should be leading people to Christ in that tone.
That’s just not happening today. First Corinthians 1422 says, Tons are for a sign not to them that believe, but to them that believe not. It should be used with the lost and it should be used to evangelize. And I have offered this so many times that nobody ever takes me up on it. Anybody that speaks in tongues, let’s go see it work. I will be glad to drive you to a crowd, maybe the mall, maybe to a park, maybe someplace.
I’ll get you a crowd. If I have to stand on my head and freak out, I’ll get a crowd to come around. Then I’ll introduce you. If you’ll speak in your gibberish and if it’s the real gift, it’s going to be assigned unbelievers, they’re going to come to no crisis of Savior. There’s going to be revival. I want to see it happen. I’d love to all my estate dinner after we get done. Nobody’s ever gone with me. I’ve never had one person who claims they have the gift of tongues want to try that experiment.
They know that the lost do not really buy into this thing at all that they call tongues today that is really gibberish. And so they don’t want to use it out in public. I’ve never had anybody yet say I’ll go to the ball with him, we’ll do it and we’ll get revival because they know that it is not a sign for the unbeliever. But the Bible says that the real gift was a sign for unbelievers, believers. Alright, we have Sterling in Tampa, Florida on the line.
Sterling, welcome to Violin. Oh, yeah. I have a question in the back. They have to baby up to this one or what what is well what happened is it what it happened to Matthew happened two years after the birth we find that Jesus was living in a house in Matthew chapter two verse 11 it says and the wise man came into the house we also know that Herod verse 16 kills all the babies two years old under according to what the wise man had told Herod as the way they’d seen the star they saw that the star two years earlier and they began their journey.
journey and it took them two years to get to Jerusalem and Jesus is already a two year old not lying in the manger and not in a stable but in a house. And so basically they lived in Bethlehem which is four miles south of Jerusalem. They went up 40 days after Christ was born and they went up on the eighth day to circumcise him and the 40 day to dedicate him which was not a long journey at all. And then after the two years they went down to Egypt and then they came back to Nazareth later.
Obviously, they were living right there for all that time. They didn’t flee to Egypt until Jesus was two years old. Thank you. You’re very welcome and we’re out of time.
