You’re welcome to call in and become live 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. You know, one of the amazing tricks of the devil is to mix things up and present a perverted or distorted message. One of the things that he did, I think, and got a great advantage on us all, is back in 1611 when the Greek word metanoia was translated into the English word repent.
Guess what? The English word repent does not mean the same thing as the Greek word metanoia. And that has caused us grief ever since. And if you look up repent in your English dictionary, it will say to turn from sin or to be sorry for sin. But if you look up the Greek word that is translated into the word repent, it is a word that means to change your mind. Mehta means change. Noia, noia means mind. The two words together, Mehta, make up the word that means a change of mind.
And that’s all it is. It’s amazing to me how many people think they have to repent of their sin. And they define that as turning from their sin. And what is so amazing to me is the phrase, quote, repent of sin, unquote, doesn’t even occur in the Bible once. That blew my mind. As a young believer, I expected to find it on every page because I heard so often, preachers say, repent of sin. And they would define it as turn from sin.
But look, look, look as you will, you will not find the phrase, get this right now, the phrase, quote, repent of sin, unquote, that’s not in your Bible at all, not even once, not even once, isn’t that amazing? And if you know the true meaning of repent, it doesn’t make any sense. It would mean because the Greek word wrongly translated into the English word repent means change your mind. That’s what it means. So what would it mean then? Repent of sin would really mean change your mind about sin.
Now I don’t know about you. I was always raised from childhood to believe that sin was wrong. I was raised in a so-called Christian home and I was taught that sin was wrong. So if I repented of my sin, would I all of a sudden change my mind and think sin is wonderful? What have I missed? Oh my goodness, sin is wonderful. Well that would be crazy. It really doesn’t make any sense at all when you know the true meaning of the Greek word repent.
And by the way, if you define the word repent as turn from sin, take a look at the Old Testament. The English word repent occurs 43 times, 37 out of the 43 times it is God who does the repenting, not man. Only six times does it refer to man. That means if you do your math, 37 divided by 43 times, 37 times it’s God who does the repenting. If you do the math and you divide, it’s 86% of the time it’s God who does the repenting.
Now, if you define that as turn from sin, then you’ve got a real big theological problem. You’ve got a holy God, a righteous God who’s not capable of sinning, turning from his sin left and right. That’s right. Think about it for just a minute. This ought to cause you to rethink this whole topic about repentance because in the Old Testament of the 43 times the English word repent occurs, 37 out of the 43 times it’s God who does the repenting and if it means turn from sin then 86% of the time the word repent occurs in the Old Testament it’s God who is turning from his sin.
You’ve got a big problem here that needs to be resolved. And it’s amazing how many people get it wrong and they don’t do any thinking. I came out of an engineering background. I graduated from electrical engineering, University of Florida. And when I heard things that didn’t match up with the Bible, it greatly disturbed me. And I said, how can this be in science? 2 plus 2 is 4 in Africa, in Australia, in Asia, in Europe, in the United States, in outer space, wherever you go, 2 plus 2 is 4.
Yet churches have a different mindset. It doesn’t have to be connected to scripture or anything else. I found in some churches they would say something similar to 2 plus 2 is equal to 5 and people say hallelujah, amen, preach it. And then the church down the street from that might say 2 plus 2 is 7 and they’ll say hallelujah, amen, preach it. In other words they’ll say things that are not true, cannot be supported, they’re not factual, and yet nobody challenges it.
And everybody just believes whatever they hear. What he feeds me, I will swallow. He feeds me, I will swallow. I’m so gullible. I’ll take anything and believe, excuse me, I didn’t mean to break in the song, but I really get terribly disturbed by the fact that nobody does their homework and nobody checks out really what the word means. When you tell somebody that they have to turn from your sin to be saved, you’re adding human works to the plan of salvation when the Bible says salvation is not of works.
Here’s the way it works. A person comes just as they are and gets saved and then God the Holy Spirit involves them and gives them the power to have victory over sin in their life. So, they’re asking the unsaved person to change their life, to stop sinning, in order to be saved, and that’s works. Have you ever thought about this? So many times in a service, or in a crusade, in a evangelist will get up and he’ll say, repent of sin, and you’ll define it as turn from sin, and then as the invitation is given, The choir will sing, Just as I am, I come without one plea, but that thy blood was shed for me.”
It’s almost like nobody’s doing any thinking here. The preacher’s saying, you have to turn from sin. The choir says, no, you don’t have to turn from sin. The preacher says, turn from your sin. The choir says, no, just as I am, I come without one plea, but that thy blood was shed for me. They ought to be on the same page. If it’s true and it’s not, but if it were true that you had the term from sin to be saved, then the choir ought to be singing some hymn that would reflect the same truth.
I could probably write it for them. Turn, turn, turn, turn, turn, turn, turn or burn, forsake or bake, toil or boil. That’s basically the message we’re being taught here. But they really ought to get the choir in line with the preacher. But it’s almost like a contest. The preacher says, turn from your sin, requires this note, this come as you are. And then the preacher will come right back and say, no, don’t listen to the choir, turn from your sin.
The choir comes right back with it and understands, this is no come just as you are. Who do you believe? Well, in this particular instance, the choir is right. The hymn writer was right, who wrote that wonderful hymn. Just as I am, I come without one plea, not one plea, but that thy blood was shed for me. You can’t say I turned for my sin, I changed my life, I did anything. You simply say I come with nothing to claim, but simply to the cross.
I claim. It’s what Christ did at the cross that matters. And so this matter of repentance has been a real advantage to Satan that he must be jumping up and down for joy as this is a problem that doesn’t seem to go away. And the problem is they never translated the Greek word into an equivalent English word. What they should have done, they should have taken the Greek word and brought it into the English language. You know they did that with the Greek word for baptize.
Greek word Babtizo, B-A-P-T-I-Z-O, is the word for baptize in the Greek. And what they did is what we call a transliteration. They dropped the O and they replaced it with an E, and they made a new word, an English word called baptize. It was really bringing the Greek word into the English language, and so we’re all familiar with baptize, but it comes directly from the Greek word, baptizo. We dropped the O and replaced it with an E. They should have done that with metanoia.
that right into the English language and can you imagine preachers waving their arms and pointing at the congregation and shouting out, Metalaya! Metalaya! Metalaya! Well, at least perhaps we’d go back to the dictionary, the Greek dictionary, and find out what it really means from the Greek. Because it’s really the word from the original Bible that we’re dealing with here. It means to change your mind. Let me just say this and you’ll understand the doctrine of repentance if you get this down.
You can repent without believing, but you cannot believe without repenting. Let me say that again. You can repent without believing, but you cannot believe without repenting. What does that mean? Well, you can repent. That means change your mind from the Greek word metadnoia, M-E-T-A-N-O-I-A. You can change your mind about Christ. You can change your mind about how to be saved. You can change your mind about any number of things about the Bible and about Christ and about salvation and not believe, not trust Him.
But you cannot believe, you cannot trust Christ without repenting. You cannot change your mind whether believe on Christ or trust Him without changing your mind in the process. When you believe, you obviously change your mind from whatever you are previously believing to believing in Christ. And so if you believe, if you trust Christ, you do repent in the process. Let me say it again. You can repent without believing. You can change your mind and not trust Christ. But you cannot trust Christ.
You cannot believe without repenting. When you change your mind, when you trust Him, you have repented in the process. Dr. Schofield, and I use the Schofield Bible which I recommend so highly, in the footnote, he has on repentance written a hundred years ago. Next year, it will be 100 years. It was copyrighted in 1909. Here we are, 2008. 99 years ago, Dr. Schofield said, saving faith includes and implies that change of mind, which is called repentance. When you believe on Christ, when you put your trust in Christ, saving faith includes and implies that change of mind, which is called repentance.
is included in belief because you do change your mind. But in order to be said, you must repent, you must change your mind. But it does not mean to turn from sin. It does not mean to change your life. It means to simply trust in the finished work of Jesus Christ. We’re going to go to the phone lines. I’m Dr. Hank Lindstrom. This is Bibleline. We’re coming to you live from Tampa, Florida, from our studios here at the Calvary Community Church.
We want to welcome those on WSLM in Salem, Indiana and all the surrounding areas that are listening today and others that are listening and today we should be on a full hour in Miami and we hope that you Miami listeners will take advantage of that and stay tuned for the entire hour down in Miami, Florida. We’re now going to go to Olivia and Olivia is in Clearwater, Florida and Olivia, welcome to Bible and you’re on the air. I’m on the air.
You are on the air. Hi, Dr. Lester. Yes, ma’am. This is Olivia. Well, how are you? I’m sorry, well, I’m going to say good. Good. And, listen, I heard you talk once about that said that Jesus is God. I said that’s what you said. Yes, ma’am, I did. I did? And I’ve been trying to convince my son about that because I heard it before before. I want you to do is to tell me what’s happened in the Bible. I think it’s the books.
I think one of them is John, right? That’s exactly right. John’s gospel. And I don’t know if it was in the book. Well, there’s some in Corinthians too. So it’s everywhere, really. Let me give you a reference or two. In John 1-1, it says, in the beginning, that’s when the universe was created was the Word. And the Word was with God. And the Word was God. And then it says in verse 14, the Word was made flesh and it says there we be held as glory.
The glory as they’ll be gotten to the Father. There we see the eternal Son called there the Word, who it says here is God and was God. He becomes flesh and that’s what took place at Bethlehem. At Christmas we celebrate the fact that God involved a human body and then he grew up and went to the cross and died to pay for our sins. So that is of course a great passage for you to turn to. John 1-1, you got that?
Yes, I got that. I understand that. But I sure appreciate you telling me that. Because I’m trying to convince my son, you know? And another thing I want to say, I saw you on the internet. Good for you. That’s wonderful. I’m good. My son got you on his computer. I don’t have one. Okay. Well, isn’t it wonderful? Yeah, and I really appreciate you. And I listen to you every day and yet a chance. That’s great. Well, there’s a lot of verses on the fact that Jesus is God.
And I try to help the best ways I can. Amen. Well, thank you, Olivia. Okay. Bye-bye. Jesus Christ is God who came and took on human flesh. Timothy chapter 3 verse 16 says without controversy great is the mystery of godliness that God was manifest or made known or revealed in flesh second second Corinthians 5 19 tells us that when we witness we’re to share that God was in Christ Jesus Christ is God one of the important doctrines Legislates share when we witness to the lost it tells us there that we’re to say or here’s what we We are to say when we witness 2 Corinthians 5, 19 that God was in Christ.
We find that there are just so many verses. John’s Gospel, in fact, is a book that really presents the case for Jesus being God from chapter 1 right on through the last of the very book. And Thomas, when he saw Jesus resurrected from the dead in John 20, he cries out. My Lord and my God, he recognized that Jesus had to be God because that body had been lifeless. All the body fluids had drained out on the cross. Christ had shed his blood.
He had five deadly wounds, any of which would have taken the life of any of us. Jesus was bloodless at the end of the crucifixion. His blood had poured out on the ground and Thomas refused to believe but when he saw Christ risen from the dead, he said my Lord and my God chapter 20 of John’s gospel. We’re now going to go to Lisa in St. Petersburg and Lisa. Welcome to Bibleline your on the air Hi, thank you Excuse me.
All right. I’m so confused. I’m lost. Okay. Now from what I understand, I’ve heard that John, what you just quoted the difference, the Gospel of John, is that he, in the beginning, there was the word and the word was with God. And I’ve heard the great… Well, that’s the Joe’s witnesses who have told us that lie. And that’s the way to… Oh, they are not true. And by the way, if you add the article there in verse one, you have to add it everywhere.
There is no reason in the Greek language for you to add the article A there. And so when you read on in the Gospel of John, nothing makes any sense. It goes on to say in verse six, for example, there was a man sent from God. If you’re going to be consistent as the witnesses aren’t, it should read then if they were right, In the last couple of weeks, there was a man sent from A God. And then when it says about us becoming born again, as many as received Christ, he gave him the power to become the sons of A God.
And then in John 3, 16 it would read for A God, so loved the world. It doesn’t make any sense at all. And they did that on purpose to try to do away with the deed of Christ. The Joel’s Witnesses are lost. And they are wrong. I would say that because that’s why I get so confused is that I even… I even studied with a Catholic nun for a while and she is right and the Catholics are right. And I believe in my heart that the Catholic faith is mostly made by man’s words, man’s rules.
It’s not of God. I don’t think Catholic is. The Jehovah’s Witnesses are telling me a little bit. We’re right. And I was raised back to the Baptist thing. They’re right. I keep praying to God. The correct answer is the Word of God is right. When you try to pit this group against that group and the other group, all of those that are in line with Scripture are right, and those that are not in line with Scripture are not right.
You know, the Joseph witnesses say that Jesus is a God because they believe he is a created being. But let me just show you the verse and you’ll find this interesting and I hope you’ll write it down. In Isaiah 43-10 you have the verse from which the Joseph witnesses get their name, and it says here in verse 10 of Isaiah 43, You are my witnesses sayeth Jehovah. Of course it’s talking to Israel, it’s not talking to the Jehovah’s witnesses.
And what it says here, you are my witnesses sayeth the Lord and my servant whom I have chosen that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Then it says here, before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. So if you’re a true Jehovah’s witness, you will proclaim that there would never or there never has been a God before the God of the Bible, Jehovah or Yahweh, and nor would there ever be a God formed after him.
So because they say that Jesus is a God, they are false witnesses. This very verse that they get their name from exposes them as being false. Because they’re saying that there is a God formed after Jehovah and Jesus is that God. And so the very fact that they make Jesus a God separate from God the Father and Jehovah or Yahweh they become false witnesses Jehovah says here in verse 11 I even I am Jehovah or Yahweh and beside me there is no Savior So therefore Jesus can’t be the Savior unless he is Jehovah or Yahweh Because they are one in the same.
Oh Oh my goodness, what is that first again? Isaiah 43-10. It says that there would not be a God formed after Jehovah. And so when the Joseph witnesses say there is a God formed after Jehovah, they’re clearly false witnesses. Oh, I’m going to bring you by that. Good for you. Now I wouldn’t study with them anymore. They’re so nice. See, I have a hard front saying no, but I should just say. No. I should just say no. I’m not studying with you anymore.
You should. And they’ll probably argue with me and I’ll just say no, no, no, no, no. I have to practice saying no. You have to. I have a… Joel’s Witness Bible here. I have the Greek translation in the emphatic dialogue that they like to boast about. And I have one that was copyrighted back in 1942. And guess what? The article A in John 1-1 is not there back in 1942. They added that since then. So they’ve tampered with the Bible to their children.
advantage. Oh, that’s back. Well, thank you for helping me. You helped me along. Keep listening. Thank you, Dr. Keep listening to Bibleline Lisa. I’m Dr. Englund. We’ve got to go to break here, but we want to say we’re so glad to be able to be with you every day. That’s because we have listeners like you who support Bibleline. Would you help us? Would you call and give a gift to Bibleline by credit card over the phone or call and ask for an envelope to be sent?
We’ll send you an envelope with our address and you can mail that gift card to us. in the Bibleline. We really are trying to keep this program going and expanding and we know that without your help we couldn’t be on the air even for a minute. And we thank God for every one of you thinking advance for your gifts and your prayers to Bibleline. We’re going to take a break. I’ll be right back on Dr. Inchlinscherman. We’ll take a break.
We’ll come right back into a second half hour of Bibleline. So stay tuned. Don’t go away. Bibleline will be back in a moment. Give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Well, I’m Dr. Angel Instruments. Great to be with you today. It’s Monday, and we’re excited about being with you. Every day, we’ll be back tomorrow, and the next day, and the next day, all week long. We’ll be here. We’re coming to you live from Tampa, Florida, from our studios here at the Calvary Community Church.
And we invite you to tune us in every day. We hope you’ll tell your friends about the program and tell them about our website. That’s right. Because on our website, they can catch us any time of day or night after convenience from anywhere in the world. Do you have friends or family in other countries or in other part of the United States? You can tell them about Bible and you have missionaries that maybe don’t know about Bible and would you tell them?
Can you email them? Write them. Tell them about Bible and we know we have missionaries that are listening in from all over the world, Japan, Korea and Africa. And we’re excited. One of our church members is flying today to Ghana, Africa, and he’s hoping to win a lot of his family and friends to Christ in Ghana, in West Africa. Isn’t that exciting? So we have reached a lot of people from all over the world, and we have people in our church from a number of different foreign countries that are excited about winning their friends and family to Christ and are telling their friends about Bibleline.
And they are listening in many parts of the world in Europe, in Asia, in Africa, in the Middle East, in the South America, and in Central America, and in Australia, in New Zealand. And we’re excited about what God is doing through the Internet and the fact that we have this platform to be able to present Bibleline to the world through the Internet. We are on the radio right now live and we will be back again tomorrow at the same time live.
In the meantime, if you want to hear the program again, you can go to the internet and catch it at BibleLineMinistries.org. BibleLineMinistries.org. Click on the spinning globe and you’ll catch radio. Click on the TV set and you’ll catch television. Click on the camera and you’ll catch our worship services and we had a record number of people listening and watching through the worship service live yesterday. It’s amazing how that we have people around the world that are able to watch and view and enjoy the worship services.
We have a year’s worth of them sitting in archive as well as you can catch the live worship service on Sunday mornings. You need your help if you haven’t given to Bibleline this month. We’re in the last week here and we could really use your help to make sure that we can pay all of our bills and keep on the air in your area. So would you consider calling in with a gift by telephone using your credit card or calling ask for an envelope to be sent?
An envelope and you can send your gift in by mail. We’re going to rejoin the stations that have been on break and do the second half of Bible line. And so stay tuned right now. Would you like to call Bibleline and ask Dr. Lindstrom a question? You can. Just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3771. Now here again is Dr. Hank Lindstrom. Alright, we’re back for that break. This is Bibleline. It’s great to be with you. Thanks for tuning in today.
We appreciate you and all of our listeners. And we’re excited about the fact that the Bible is the Word of God. And it’s a book that we can turn to. We had a previous caller talking about who’s right when they hear this group and that group and the other group all vying for being the true church when the Bible is actually the word of God and that is the authority, not me, not any organization or denomination, but the word of God.
And as long as we’re in line with scripture, we’re going to be right. And whenever we deviate from the scripture, then we’re wrong. Isaiah 8 20 says if they speak not according to this word, that is the word of God. It is because there is no light in them. What a great verse that is, I hope you will write it down, Isaiah 8 20, if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.
We know we have today so many things that the devil has done to muddy the message and cause confusion. Now one of those is that doctrine of repentance that we talked about earlier. I have a number of CDs on that topic and writ material. You can get the writ material and download it right off of my website and print it out. Just go to BibleLineMinistries.org. Go to the right hand corner, bottom corner of the home page. Click on Dr.
Lynch from Zarnicles and put the word repent in the scanner, in the search engine and or repentance and you’ll find several articles that I have written that will define it for you very clearly. We are living in a time when there is a lot of confusion and guess who the author of confusion is? Well it’s Satan. The Bible tells us in 1 Corinthians 14 that he is the author of confusion. Be careful that you don’t stay confused but you get into the Bible and become clear with what got a set we’re going to go to carol and carol is calling in here from camp apartment carol welcome to bible and you’re on the air the lady that caught about jojoba this i had a gentleman time i get some scripture and how to witness to these people and i’ve written those pictures down and uh…
as you probably not know that you know that in uh… revelations one eight it talks about that uh… that uh… jojoba is the first alpano mega and so when you ask that they’ll say you ask who is the first and the last note and then you go to Revelations 26, 21, 6 and again it talks about the first and the last and you ask them who is that note. So you again they lose Jehovah and then you get the 20, Revelation 22, 13, it says the same thing and then when you get to Revelations 117 and 18 and when I saw him calling me saying unto me fear not I am the first and the last.
I am he that live it so you ask them when did Jehovah die and they don’t have an answer for that because I’ve asked them to be thankful to get back with you. Now they will not get back to you. No, it’s a very powerful proof that verse at Isaiah 44-6 where Jehovah claims to be the first and the last that Jesus is presented as the first and the last in the book of Revelation. So obviously he is the same God or a total counterfeit in a fraud and there’s no two ifs ands or buts about that.
So in Timothy, I think it’s Timothy 3 16, it says she and capital others and they refer that and ask them who that he is and you’ll see that that he is Jesus. Amen. So you know, but anyway, it’s interesting when you try to talk to these people because they won’t listen and they’re pretty much indoctrinated and they really know what they know. I know a lady that I’ve been witnessing to, she’s been in jail for 45 years. And so it’s pretty hard to get across to some people because they have already twisted the word so much that they, that’s the way they know.
They really go to practice on the Kingdom Hall on Thursday nights on how to talk to Christians and win them over to the witness movement. They really don’t know their Bibles. In fact, the Watchtower Society admits that if they didn’t stay with the Watchtower literature that in two years they would. A post date which really means that they would become Christians. In other words, if they just stayed with the Bible and didn’t have the lenses of the watchtower literature to guide them, they would become Christians because they are manipulated and deceived by the Watchtower Society in Brooklyn, New York.
Well, thank you so much and we need to pray for the witnesses that they’d come to know Christ. We have Mary Ann in Clearwater, Florida. Mary Ann, welcome to Bibleline your own ear. Yes, thank you Dr. Leschins. Last week I believe it was, I called the tell-in, I believe somebody called in a question about on Pastor Onamory, and I think I just called the tell-in, you saying, well that’s why I don’t listen to him anymore. I usually catch sometimes it’s question and answer type, you know, at the end of his, you know, television sermon.
I was wondering, could you feel me in a Worcester reason why you don’t listen to him anymore. Well, because he believes you could lose your salvation, which is a major doctrinal error. Any church that teaches you could lose your salvation is really saying that from this point right now in time, till the time you die, what you do or what you do not do will determine what you’re saving up. So in other words, how you live your life between now and death determines your salvation.
works and that means if you’re trusting in your works you’re not saved because the Bible clearly and Ephesians 2 9 salvation is not a works is the gift of God and it’s not of yourself it’s by grace or by mercy or you saved through faith in Christ. So he believes you can lose it and there are amazingly a lot of those that are on the air that teach you can lose it and they really have the gospel wrong therefore because Jesus saves you eternally.
When you get saved, he gives you eternal life. You possess it at the moment you believe and forever thereafter. He promises he’ll never cast you out, John 637, and he would not even lose one of those that have come to him, John 639. So he’s a false teacher and his message is false. As are all those who teach you could lose your salvation or false. Okay, and one more thing. I don’t know if I’ve understood him correctly, but I don’t think he believes in the rapture if I’m not mistaken.
No, I can list all the things he doesn’t believe. Oh, okay. I mean, that one thing is enough to say, don’t listen anymore. Oh, okay. Thank you very much. You’re welcome, Marianne. And you really need to ask that question. If you’re attending it, you’re suddenly as they’ll never come out and tell you that. But and some of them will say that oh I’m eternally secure But they’re basing it on the fact that they say that they’re never going to turn away from God And they’re never going to stop attending church and they’re never going to stop reading the Bible and they’re never going to turn their back on Jesus So they’re really telling you that the reason why they believe they’re going to heaven is because they’re doing all those works Salvation is not based upon what you do for God God, it’s based upon what
God did for you at the cross. When Jesus died, He fully paid your sin debt at the cross and it’s paid for, it’s done. It’s over. You receive that gift of salvation you purchase when you trust Him as your Savior and you become saved eternally. But it’s a subtle thing. One person just said recently to me that I know that I know that I know that I’m saved and He said, because I love the Lord and I will never depart from Him and I’ll never stop going to church.
I’ll never, and he went on with all this list of works. And obviously, he’s trusting in his works. I will tell you, I know that I know that I know that I’m saved because of what Jesus did for me at the cross and has nothing to do with what Hank Lindstrom does with his life. I love the Lord and I’m serving him, but not to be saved, but because I’m grateful that I’m saved, but not to maintain my salvation or to get it.
is not by works and everybody that believes you can lose it, make them think about it, and you have to say, are you telling me that between right now and death, if I live the Christian life I’ll make heaven. Yes, they’ll say, I agree with that. And then if you say, well, between right now and death, if I don’t live the Christian life and I backslide and I die, what would happen then? Oh, you’d go to hell. Then you’re teaching works.
You’re telling me that how I live my life will determine my salvation. That makes me the Savior, not Christ, and that’s a false plan of salvation. The true plan of salvation says, Jesus paid it all. I love that hymn. Jesus paid it all. All to Him I.O. Sin had left the crimson stain, but Jesus washed it as white as snow. Mary Ann, thank you so much for that call, and you’re welcome to call. We have Stephen in Tennessee calling in and he says, If Jesus Christ is God, this is all fair.
Stephen says, If Jesus Christ is God, why did he cry out? Why have you forsaken me? Matthew 27, 46. You have to recognize that Jesus was God, but he was also a man. And as a man, he became the substitute sacrifice for our sins on the cross. the cross. And as a man, God turned his back on Jesus as he bore your sins and mind in his body on the cross. And so Jesus is saying, as a man, my God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
And it was the man Jesus who died. God did not die on the cross. God is not dead. You know that God’s dead movement came out years ago out of a Methodist seminary, and And there they were saying, if Jesus is God and He died on the cross, then God is dead. The whole God is dead movement came out of that. Can you believe that they would ever come up with that? Well obviously they had too much time on their hands.
If you’re reading the Bible it’s very clear that it was the man Jesus that died and that He was forsaken of God. As Isaiah the prophet had said, way back there in Isaiah 53, about 700 years before Jesus ever came. Let me read to you from Hebrews 10, and notice the focus here on our salvation upon the death of the man Jesus. And I’m going to turn there and I’m almost there right now. But in Hebrews 10, it says here, by the will of God, we are sanctified.
means made pure and holy through the offering of the body, the body of Jesus Christ. Verse 12, this man, Jesus, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, said, down on the right hand of God. Notice the focus here, this man, Jesus is a man as well as he is God. And then of course it says here that religion cannot take away that sin. It was Christ the man who died. It was his body that was offered his blood was shed and that purchased our salvation We now have Tony in Tampa and Tony welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air Yes, good morning Thank you for having me I Am I have been studied with Dr.
Arnold Mary for years. I have him on tip saying that But for somebody to believe that Jesus Christ has said you once and he’s going to save you again, it’s saying that he haven’t done, Jesus Christ haven’t done a good word. He doesn’t believe that if you save, you can lose your salvation. the way. If you see, you eat that. You’re confessing that’s all you describe is asking you. But he doesn’t believe you can lose your salvation. Okay. I have a tape just a few feet from me by Arnold Murray and he says in 2 Corinthians 5, 10, when we must all appear before the judgment of Christ that everyone may receive the things done in his body, not whether it be good or bad.
He says that you need to be careful that you don’t find that you will not be interested in the heaven at that judgment. So he clearly teaches that you could lose your salvation and one day when God examines your works and he’s got it totally wrong. That judgment of the judgment seat of Christ is for believers’ works to determine degree of reward or loss of reward. Has nothing to do with your salvation. Once you trust Christ, you’re saved eternally.
And I hope that you’ll listen a little more carefully to him and I’ll be glad that if he has a website I’ll go find it in a few minutes I’m sure because he probably has it on there somewhere where I can pull it up and print it out for you. But thank you Tony. Arnold Murray definitely does believe you can lose your salvation. We have Mary and Bartow Florida. Mary, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Oh, good morning.
Yes. Another one about Arnold Murray. He does believe that you can lose your salvation. My sister studies with him and she also says that now he’s teaching that God didn’t know that Satan was going to fall. That was a surprise to him. I just found a scripture in 2 Timothy 1. A second Timothy 1 9 that says that grace was giving to us through Christ Jesus before the world begun. So he must have known that we were going to fall because why would he give us grace if we wasn’t going to fall?
Amen. You’re up for you right. And isn’t there a verse back in Genesis and I don’t know where it is that said that salvation was planned before the foundation of the world? it doesn’t say it in genesis but it does say it in the test and yes i thought okay uh… i didn’t know i was thinking it was in genesis but yeah i know that that that was all planned that you nothing catches god off guard i mean nothing right right and so she’s saying that they that they uh…
that’s all and she also tells me that you’re barnery says you’re not supposed to take the bible literally she says it was never meant to be taken literally well i i’ve got to ask her that’s not have yet why are you supporting someone that doesn’t want to well if it’s like a novel why would you pay somebody to teach you a novel on t.v. that’s that’s ridiculous i don’t understand this man he’s he’s way way out left field he he teaches them about the first earth age and all the spirits were created at once and now God’s got to hurry up and get them all down here.
That’s why there’s so many babies being born. And ah. Very strange teachings. Oh, he twists the scriptures. Terrible. He just twists them. And I notice there are certain books that he don’t teach on. I’ve noticed that. He’ll take a text maybe out of it. And he’ll explain it away. And then he goes back. He stays in the Old Testament almost all the time. Very rare does he go in the New Testament. and then he doesn’t teach everything. He’ll read so much of it and then he’ll say, and on and on and on and we can study that later and he’ll never get back to it.
Well Mary, we thank you for sharing that with us and I hope our previous caller would take note that he clearly teaches you can lose it. Yes he does. I’ve heard him say it myself. Thank you Mary. Thank you. All right. Mary in Bartow, Florida to the Eastern Tampa. And we have now Matthew in Spring Hill, Florida. Matthew, welcome to Bibleline you are on here. Mark. Can you talk about, in light of losing salvation, can you talk about the passage of John?
Flipians 3 verse 9, being found in him. Well, that’s a wonderful verse because when you trust Christ the Savior, you are found righteous as God is based upon the fact that you have been given Christ righteousness. righteousness. It says be found in Him, and I love the last few words. It says by faith. So we’re found in Christ. That is we’re placed into the body of Christ. And it says not having my own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith.
So when you’re in Christ, you are seen with Christ’s righteousness. And you’re not seen with your own works, which are the works of law or by trying to obey the rules of the Bible, we can never be righteous enough to enter heaven by doing those things. We need God’s righteousness and every believer has it at the moment you believe. So as a believer, you are found as though you were as righteous as God Himself when you trust Christ to save you because God sees you in Christ.
If I were to use my Bible as an illustration here and let the Bible represent Christ, and And if I were to take a soil piece of paper and let it represent us in our righteousness and put that piece of paper in the Bible and close it, I could no longer see the soil piece of paper which would represent us in our sins and in our righteousness. But I would see the Bible that has covered me as I’m in the Bible, in the illustration I’m using, and all you can see from any direction would be the Bible or representing Christ the righteous and surprise.
So God looks down at the believer, sees us in Christ, doesn’t see our sins, he’s forgiven them, he’s paid for them at the cross, and he sees us with the righteousness of God, which is what Philippians 3 and 9 teaches. That’s a great verse. Hope that helps. Thank you, Matthew, and I guess Matthew has, going ahead and hung up. We have Aaron in Dade City, Florida, and he says in Hebrews 6, 4 through 8, do you believe that Is this a true Christian or is it something like a Pharisee?
Aaron in Dade City Hebrews 6, 4, 3, 8 is talking about a genuine believer. It gives five marks that their believer. It says that they’ve tasted the gift of God. I believe that’s salvation. They’ve been made partakers of the Holy Spirit. You can’t get the Holy Spirit unless you’re saved. Romans 8, 9 says, if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he’s none of his. And so there are five things there that point out that this is a Christian.
But if you depart away from the Lord, it’s saying it’s impossible for you to become saved again because you’re only already save forever. It says it’s impossible if you’ve fallen away from the Lord as a believer. To renew yourself to that repentance that took place when you got saved, that change of mind where you trusted Christ as your Savior, because you would be crucifying Christ all over again to yourself and putting Him to an open shame. In other words, Christ will never die again.
You don’t need enough to sacrifice. You don’t need to go back and become saved again. He saves those that he saves completely the bible says you completely saved and forever saved at the moment you believe and to try to go back and become saved again which many churches teach wrongly you are actually just crucifying christ to yourself because he’s never going to die again and uh… trying to become savi and you’re putting him to an open chain you’re saying that his one time sacrifice at the cross was not sufficient to save you eternally that you’ve got to do something all over again to become saved if you get away from the Lord.
You’ve never lost once you’re saved and the Lord says you can’t get away from him. You know Jonah was saved, but he disobeyed the Lord. He was supposed to go to Nineveh and he said, I don’t want to go to Nineveh and he took his good money, went down and bought a ticket on a ship and he took a ship that was heading as far away from Nineveh as it could possibly be. Guess what? Did God know about Jonah being on that ship?
Absolutely. He brought a storm that almost sank that ship. And Jonah finally confessed and said to the people on the board the ship, this is my fault. God is trying to get my attention. If you only cast me overboard, the sea will become calm. And that’s exactly what happened. And Jonah was a believer, but you can’t run from the Lord. the Lord, Jonah could never get far away from God. God was right on top of him no matter what happened in his life.
We’re now going to go to Tom in Sarasota, Florida. Tom, welcome to Bible and you’re on the air. Yes, good morning, Dr. Hank. I just want to ask you a question that will hang up and listen to the radio. Could you comment on a gentleman I’ve heard on the radio, many, many times on another radio station? I believe his name is Mr. Janet totally. I’ve never heard I haven’t heard him. No, you’re not. No, I don’t know what he please.
If he has a website, look it up and they probably find out pretty quickly, please. Okay, I’ll give you more information another time. Okay. Thank you. Thank you, Tom. I don’t really get a chance to listen to everybody that’s on the air and we’ll try to look it up on the internet and see if we can find something. But eternal life is God’s gift and amazingly people want you to try to earn it or buy it or do something to gain it.
When the Bible says there’s nothing you can do, we have to come just like the nine thief who had nothing to offer a simply trusted Christ and Jesus said on the cross today, Thou shalt be with me in paradise. Dan, in Tampa, Florida calls in with this offer a question. He says, how do you talk about the Bible to non-believers who believe the Bible is corrupt and fall under the belief that they are good enough or by good works or by being good to their neighbor they can go to heaven?
Well, I just remind you, Hebrews 4th Fall tells us then that the Bible is living in powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword. Hebrews 4, 12, and it works whether a person believes it or not. When people tell me the Bible, they don’t believe it or whatever, I say, fine. Let me just tell you what it says anyway. And I quote the Bible and I give them what it says. And I have been surprised even myself, sometimes within five minutes they trust Christ.
Why? Because the Word of God is powerful. It’s living. It brings life to an unsafe person. And so I wouldn’t witness to something like that any differently than anybody else. Don’t ever let the devil disarm you by saying, well, when the person you’re talking to says the Bible, they don’t believe it. I say, well, fine, just don’t stop breathing because when you die… Every unbeliever will believe the Bible one day. Every unbeliever will believe in hell because they’ll be there.
Every unbeliever will believe that Jesus Christ was the only means of salvation, but it will be forever too late. So Dan, just give them the word of God anyway in love, letting them know that here is what the Bible says and the consequences if they die without Christ are great because they’ll spend an eternity separated from God in the eternal lake of fire. We’re right at the end of our program today. I get to remind you that Bible and his listeners supported.
I hate to talk about money. I really do but you know it is one of the things I think that God wants us to do because He wants us to partner. This is the not the counterfeit but the real partnership Because without you we could not be on the air It costs money to pay for the radio stations that we’re on and we just added Miami now for the full hour We don’t have the money to pay for that.
I’m hoping that South Florida will come on board with us and say I’ll help If every listener in South Florida would help us we could possibly Make that commitment to happen. Otherwise, we’d have to drop that we don’t want to do that But we need your help would you call and give me gift my credit card over the phone today to Bibleline and Or call an S for an envelope to be sent and mail your gift in that numbers 1 800 576 3 7 7 1 I’ve got a run, but we’ll be back again tomorrow, and I hope you’ll join me tomorrow on Bible Iron and in the meantime you can go to the internet Bible Iron Ministries.org click on the spinning globe and you can have Bible Iron 24-7.
