Blood is associated with both the first and second comings of Jesus Christ. When Jesus Christ came the first time, John the Baptist said to Him, “Behold the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world (John 1:29).” As the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ laid down His life for us on the cross of Calvary. There on the cross as the sacrificial Lamb His blood was shed for the sins of the human race.

We call it Daniel’s 70th week. We’re going to go right to the phone lines today. I’m going to go right to Hamilton and Hamilton. Hamilton is in Tampa, Florida. Hamilton, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Hey, how you doing today? Good. I have a bit of a struggle here, a freshly struggled. I moved Tampa with my family from Lakeland about a month and a half ago. I was a better job. The owner of the company that I started working for has, and I told them I said, you know, unless I find a house, I’m I’m not going to move here.
Ever since I’ve been here, I’ve been struggling with my flesh. It’s just been a real hard struggle. Anyway, yesterday I got out of church and I had a gentleman call me and say he went to offer me a good job and more money. He got to open the door and give me fines and everything else, but I’m just having a problem because I feel like I made a wrong choice anyway, moving air, but I’m not sure. Well the key in knowing God’s will is that God will give you peace about the right decision.
In Colossians chapter 3 it talks about let the peace of God rule or guide your heart. And so about things that are not clearly spelled out where there is not a big universe that says take this job or reject that job or make this decision or not make this decision. God gives us peace. So in Romans 14 it talks about things that you have severe doubts about are probably not the will of God and that doubt is the opposite of faith.
So my recommendation to you, Hamilton, is to pray about it and God will give you peace about the right choice. Right now you’re struggling. So obviously you’re not found the peace that the Bible talks about. Read that in Colossians chapter 3. Let the peace of God guide your heart. If you have the skill field, it really takes and brings that word guide or rule or direct into play there which is what it is really saying. I hope that will help you in your quest there to make the right decision for a job.
We now have Angela in Tampa, Florida. Angela, welcome to Bible and you’re on the air. Hi, good morning. First I want to say I love listening to you in the morning. I’ve been listening to you now for about three weeks and I just happen to find you through flipping through the AM dial and it’s been a real blessing to my life. Well, great. I’m so happy about that because that makes us feel that what we’re doing here is worthwhile about it.
I have two questions. One last week you had answers a caller’s question regarding women’s in ministry, being leaders in ministry. What is it that women can do that’s appropriate according to the word of God? Well I think they can do a lot of things but they really need to do it under the leadership of the men. They like to give testimony or to sing or whatever but they’re not to usurp the authority over the man and they’re not really to be the Bible teachers.
I think they can can teach children and other women, but when they teach men, I think that’s where they have gone beyond what it says there. First Timothy is a great passage there in chapter 2 verses 11 through 15. It says, I suffered not a woman to teach nor do you serve authority over the man. So, basically, God really wants men to take leadership positions, and unfortunately, sometimes men don’t step up to the plate and do the job they ought to do.
I think sometimes when women, for example, the wife and a family will step back and look through her husband for that spiritual leadership. Sometimes that is just what he needs to cause him to rise to the occasion. The Bible basically tells us that it talks about asking your husband at home. If you are really depending upon him to find out what God’s will is for the family or to answer a Bible question or spiritual question and you might say, well he doesn’t know a thing about the Bible.
Well, obviously then you can have him. The men would follow that. It would help men take more leadership roles. I think our men really need to do that. I don’t know if that is helpful to you or not, but definitely women can teach other women and Titus talks about the older women who are in the middle of the world. helpful to you or not but definitely women can teach other women and Titus talks about the older women. She is a beautiful man.
I’m a beautiful woman teaching the younger women. And it lists the number of things that they can teach basically having to do with family life, to love their husbands, to be keepers at home, and to love their children, and to be chaste and to love the Lord, and so on. Those are all great lessons that they can pass on down to younger women. the translation. That is so difficult. What we do is we just keep using the King James.
We find that most people don’t have much problem after just a few months of really getting into it on a regular basis. And actually the King James Bible is written at a fifth and sixth grade level, believe it or not. And a lot of people I think I’ve just heard too much negative about it. So they just say, I just can’t understand it. And they really having given it a good try. But we lead people to Christ all the time and they’re brand new believers and we get them in the King James and we don’t hear anybody complaining.
They just, the these and now is kind of melt away after a little bit of use and you’re right with the program. Okay. Well, thank you. Okay. And that’s Scofield Bible is what we recommend because it really helps when a word has changed meaning. For example, the word let in our language today means to allow. But back in the King James time, it meant to hinder. So you’ll find a number of places where it uses the word let and it really means to hinder.
So sometimes you need help. And the Schoenfield does such an excellent job where words have changed meaning or there’s a shade of meaning or a different meaning that you would not have known about the Scofid as a wonderful job. And that’s what I use and what I recommend. But I recommend the old Scofid Bible, which is obviously the better than the new Scofid let’s out. We have some all fair questions today. This is Monday and we have Jim in Richmond, Virginia calling in and he says, where in the Bible does it tell us that baptism is immersion only?
Well, the word baptism, baptism from the Greek, actually means that. It means to fully well, to fully immerse. And so there’s a totally different word in the Greek for sprinkle. And that is not used of believers’ baptism and is used basically of the sprinkling of the blood upon the mercy seat in the temple and things like that, but the word baptism means immersion. Obviously you have the example to an Acts chapter 8 where the Ethiopian eunuch is baptized and Philip who led him to Christ and the eunuch go down into the body of water and he baptizes him and then they both come up out of the water and certainly the pictures of immersion.
Also in the Old Testament the Jewish people practice baptism and they would fully immerse. I’ve been to Israel numerous times, thirteen times I’ve led groups over to Israel. I was surprised at how many baptismals pools there were and they have stairs. And you go down into the water and you become completely immersed. It’s a picture of a complete cleansing, a washing. But the water doesn’t take away our sin. The water is symbolic of the blood as the Bible tells us that it is the blood of Christ that washes away our sin.
Revelation 1 5 says unto him that loved us and washed us from our sins in his own blood. I have been cleansed in the blood. I have been washed by the blood and water. I have been water baptized by immersion, but it is a testimony of how I have been cleansed by the blood of Jesus and every believer ought to be water baptized. We are going to be doing a baptismal on the third Sunday of August. If you have not been water baptized, since you have been saved, you are welcome to join this baptism that will perform on Sunday afternoon in a lake near the Calvary Community Church and a church members home.
And it is just a beautiful experience where you can have your friends, your relatives, your family come and witness your testimony where you are immersed in water as a testimony of how you are cleansed of your sins by the blood of Christ. You can call our operators and get your name on a list if you’d like to be a part of the upcoming baptism and it is a beautiful. He is a beautiful experience for the believer to be obedient to God’s Word in being baptized by water as a testimony of what Christ has done.
Okay, Jim also in Richmond says, where in the Bible does it tell us there is a rapture? One of the many places, Jim, is 1 Thessalonians 4, 17. It says that we which are alive and remain shall be caught up. The word caught up is really the definition of Rapture. The word Rapture means to be caught up. So I’m so glad, really, that the English word Rapture is not there because it’s better people would understand it more easily just to read that we’re going to be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.
That’s pretty plain. You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to figure that out. Now in the Latin translation of the Bible, the New Testament, it uses the Latin word repturo, which obviously the English word rapture comes from. And so it is in the Latin, but the English King James says, we’ll be caught up. I like it that way. It’s pretty plain. We have Michelle in Bel Air Beach, Florida, calling in and she says, have you heard about them aside that the people of Islam are expecting.
And yes, in fact the cleric, the president of Iran is spending a lot of money in advertising and promoting the fact that when this guy comes on the scene he’s going to destroy everybody that is not of the Islamic religion. Wow, again, looks like that, in fact they expect him in the next year or two. So we’re watching. And perhaps the atomic weapons he’s going to get will perhaps help his Messiah do the job, apparently. It’s scary. But anyway, the Messiah of Islam is called Mahadi, if I get that right, or Mahdi.
And Mahdi in Arabic means the guided one or the awaited one. May, H.D.I. I hope I’m pronouncing it right, but Madi. And that’s the Islamic Messiah. So they have a counterfeit. Satan always has a counterfeit of the true Savior. All right, all fair. Matt calls in from Delmar, New York. He says, how did you come to the date for the Rapture? Well, I don’t have a date for the Rapture, but I do believe whatever your Christ comes back, it will probably be on the feast of trumpet.
So if he came this year, it would be on Rosh Hashanah or the Feast of Trumpets, which this year is September 22nd. Next year will not fall exactly on the same date because the Jewish people follow a lunar calendar, but it will be in the fall. And so the reason why I believe it will be on Rosh Hashanah or the Feast of Trumpets is because God gave seven feast days to Israel. They are all listed in Leviticus 23, and every one of them are a picture of the two comings of Christ.
The first coming were fulfilled by the first four feasts. The feast of Pentecost was a picture of Christ’s death as the, rather, I mean the feast of Passover was a picture of Christ’s death as Christ died as the Passover Lamb, and he died exactly when Israel was offering up their Passover Lamb. He was buried in the Feast of Unleavened Bread, a picture of his body being buried. And then the Feast of First Roots was a picture of the resurrection that always occurred on a Sunday.
Christ rose on the Feast of First Roots. 1 Corinthians 5-7 says, For even Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us. In 1 Corinthians 15 verse 22 it says, Christ is the first fruits of the resurrection. So He fulfilled those feast days. The fourth feast was Pentecost and this age began on the feast of Pentecost on Pentecost. The last three feasts are pictures of the Second Coming. The next one, reasonably, would we can assume is a picture of the ending of this age as Pentecost began it and it would be the rapture that it’s picturing.
We believe that Rosh Hashanah or the Feast of Trumpets would be the reasonable day. probably will happen right on the day and so if the Lord were to come this year we’re less than two months out. Wow exciting isn’t it? Man I hope that helps you. I haven’t set a date for the Lord’s return though. If he doesn’t come this year I’ll be looking next year. One thing is for certain Jesus is coming. Donald in umerable Beach Florida calls in repentance.
You say we do not have to repent now. And then he goes on and says, nobody is perfect himself or you. Now, he lists some verses here. But I didn’t say you didn’t have to repent. I said the Greek word that is translated into the English word repent is meta noia. Meta means change, noia means mind. So what happened was in 1611 they translated that Greek word into the English word repent. repent. The English word doesn’t mean the same thing.
So Satan has gotten a victory because the English word repent means the turn from sin. If you go to your English dictionary that you’re making a mistake, you need to go back to what the Greek word is and it’s a change of mind. And so yes, repentance is necessary for salvation, but it isn’t turning from sin. That would be a human work. It is changing your mind about how it were saved. changing your mind about who Christ is that He is God who came and took on human flesh.
And when you trust Christ, you do change your mind. I like to say it this way, you can repent without believing. You can change your mind about Christ, about salvation, about everything and not believe, not trust Christ. But you cannot trust Christ without having changed your mind in the process. So yes, repentance is necessary, but it doesn’t mean turning from sin. Well, Donald, I hope that helps you out. And the Scofield Bible that I used a hundred years ago in its footnote on repentance tells us that the Greek word is methanoya.
It’s a change of mind. You list one in Ezekiel there, Donald, and in the Old Testament it’s quite interesting that 86% of the time that repent occurs, it’s God who repents. Wow. So if you believe it means to turn from sin, you’ve got a real theological problem. You’ve got a holy god, a sinless god that’s not capable of sinning, turning from his sin left and right. The word occurs 43 times in the Old Testament. 37 of the 43 times the word repent occurs in the Old Testament.
It is God who repents. So if you do the math, 37 divided by 43 gives you 86% of the time that it is God who does the repenting. If it means turning from sin, you’ve got a holy God not capable of sinning. Turning from the sin, you really got a serious problem there. Donald, thank you for that question. I hope it’s helped. If you go to my articles on my website, I have about three or four. What is called the Intem Patibility of the False Teaching on Repentance with the Grace of God?
And obviously it adds works to salvation. Preachers will say, Repent of Sin, which by the way Donald, that phrase does not occur in the Bible at all. You cannot find in the King James Bible the phrase Repent of Sin and yet you would think it was on every page because of how frequently preachers use it. But there is no phrase like that. And obviously, you don’t, and the preacher’s defined that as turning from your sin, and that would be works.
And yet at the same time, at the invitation they’ll have their choir singing, just as I am, I come without one plea, but that thy blood was shed for me. Do you see there’s no thinking there? They don’t connect the dots. The preacher says, turn from sin, the choir says no, come just like you are. And then the preacher says, don’t listen to the choir. The choir is saying, come just like you are, but I’m telling you, you have to turn from your sin.
And then the choir says, well, don’t listen to the preacher because he’s saying you have to turn from your sin, but we’re telling you, you come just like you are without one plea. But that Christ blood was shed for you. So, you know, it’s crazy. How can this happen? I’m a scientist. I graduated in electrical engineering. A plus B had equal C for me and I hear things that preachers say that contradict themselves right and the message they are giving and nobody is thinking, nobody is connecting the dots and nobody complains and the audience will hear that.
I heard it and I said, whoa, how can they do that? The preacher says turn from sin, the choir says don’t turn from sin and the preacher is the one who organized that choir I’m sure. You really ought to have a choir that says, Turn, Turn, Turn, Turn, Turn right now. Turn or burn. For sake or bake, toil or boil. That’s general to the message of many, but the Bible says, No, you come as you are. You come as a sinner lost and simply trust in the finished work of Christ.
When I welcome people on WLRM 1380 on the Amdall and Memphis, Tennessee, we want to welcome people on WTSI, TSJ rather 1050 on AM radio in Cincinnati, Cincinnati’s Christian voice. We hope that the people in those stations are enjoying the program as new listeners to Bibleline. We’re excited about bringing Bibleline to you and again we want you to tell your friends about it and especially go to the Internet and take advantage of the fact you can hear these programs again and again and again.
You can always call in and order a CD copy of today’s show, but you can also download off of the internet to your iPod and that’s free, no charge. And by the way, if you have a website, if you go to my website, there’s a seven minute presentation of the gospel video presentation and there’s a click there on that. If you want to add that to your website, if you have a website and you’d like to have the Gospel there on your website.
We have it all set up there so you can take that and put that on your website so people that go horm sight will hear and see the video presentation of the gospel. Check that out. There’s a place for you to click on that and we welcome you to take that and put it on your website to present the gospel to those that go to your site. We’re going to go to break and then we’ll come back and do Bible in part two.
So keep your radio dial tuned right where it is and we’ll be right back. Don’t go away Bibleline will be back in a moment. Give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. I’m Dr. Hincklin Strimman. It’s great to be with you here on Bibleline and again we’re excited about what’s happening with Bibleline. If you have a website and you would like to have the gospel on your site. We have a video that you can watch. It’s just seven minutes long, six and a half I think.
And it’s right on our homepage or rather when you open up our website, BibleLineMinistries.org. You’ll notice it has a video presentation. There’s a place off to the right where it says if you’d like to add that to your website, you can click there and it tells you how to do that. And you’re most welcome to use that. A lot of websites now are adding that and people across the country are going to different websites and they’re getting the gospel in a clear video presentation that’s me presenting the gospel and you can add that to your website.
So anybody that has a website is welcome to take that little presentation and it’ll tell you how to do it. Just go there on the right side and it says if you want to add this to your website go ahead and do it. You are my guest. So check that out. And of course we are listeners supported. We thank God for all of you who do listen and are praying for and support Bible and with your contributions. Radio is expensive and we really don’t have the money to pay the bills without your help.
It’s our audience that pays the bills and I don’t get paid. Our staff doesn’t get paid. Right now, as we do Bible lines today, I have one operator in here today. We have our other volunteer and myself and my Bible. That’s it. And we are coming to you and we don’t get paid to do this. We are spending all of the money that comes in to pay for radio time and other expenses and it is expensive. One of my stations alone cost 100,000 a year.
So you got an idea of what it cost. So it’s expensive, but we are not trying to get your money. We are simply trying to get the gospel out. I like what Paul says to the Philippian believers, not that I desire a gift. I’m not trying to get your money, but I desire fruit that may abound to your account. Well, I hope you’re up on your kippy toes. The rapture could happen soon. Definitely as you watch the Middle East this is a sign that Jesus is coming soon So this is the time to get into action.
This is the time to pray and and really do something for God While we have opportunity to do that before we’re ruptured out We’re gonna return out to the stations that have been on break And if your station doesn’t care the second half go to the internet and hear the full program But otherwise keep your radio dial tuned right where it is and we’re gonna do Bible and part two So keep your radio tuned right where it is Would you like to call Bibleline and ask Dr.
Lindstrom a question you can just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3771 That’s 1-800-576-3771 Now here again is Dr. Hank Lindstrom. We have a resource center here open every day, Monday through Friday, till about 4-30 in the afternoon you can come by.
We’ve had a wonderful group of people that have come by this past week. I’ve gotten to meet so many and what a thrill, what an exciting thing it is to meet those that listen to Bibleline radio. You’re welcome to do that and we’ve had several say, I’m here because you invited me to come by. And so that is a real invitation to we really do want you to come by. And so if you’re driving in the area, take that extra minute to stop in at Bible and headquarters and say hello.
We’d love to have you drop by. I love that where men are stepping up to the plate and are learning and of course we don’t not have ladies come, but I’m just particularly blessed when men are stepping up and coming out and are learning God’s Word and are able to share that Word with other families and with other men and of course children and etc. We’re excited about what has happened with Bible and we now have 140 countries logged done. As of this past week, we added Albania, Northwest of Greece, Ecuador, which is on the west side of South America, and we continually see countries added.
That means all over South America, Central America, North America, the Pacific Islands, Australia, New Zealand, Asia, The Middle East, Europe, Africa, and South America, Central America, and of course North America, Bibleline is able to be heard on the internet. And now our TV programs can be seen by people anywhere in the world. I hope you’ll take advantage and go to my website, BibleLineMinistries.org or not come. Click on that little TV site set up in the right-hand corner of the homepage and you’ll be connected to a page, actually two pages in front of you.
One will say click here for Bible and television, the other will say click here for Bible and radio and you’ll get to enjoy. Also we have now a new offer free. If you have a website, we have a seven minute video presentation of the gospel that I deliver. You can see it when you first go to my website. If you look at that flash presentation, there’s a link on the right side where you can add that to your website.
A lot of websites now have that presentation of the presenting the gospel of video presentation. That’s exciting. You’re welcome. It’s free to add that to your website if you’d like to have the gospel there for people to see when they go to your website. It’s our pleasure to make that available to you. It’s really easy to click on the little link and it will tell you how to do that. Add that to your website. That would be great. We also want you to pray for Bibleline and of course if you can support Bibleline.
I don’t get paid and our staff doesn’t get paid. And really to share with you how lean we are here, I don’t have my second volunteer I only have one person, one volunteer taking the phone calls and then it’s myself and my Bible. That’s it. And God, of course, the Holy Spirit. But we, and I don’t get paid and none of our staff get paid to do this program. We are trying to let all the money go to pay all the bills to get us out as far as we can.
We believe time is running out. Jesus is coming and we don’t want to be negligent and try to hold back. We want to try to go as far as we can with the message while we still have time to do it. So pray for Bibleline. Maybe you’d like to give a gift. You can call the 800 number and give a gift over the phone. The number is 1-800-576-3771. Same number you call to get up on the air and if you want to be on the air you’re welcome to call 1-800-576-3771.
If you’re listening in a city where we play the program at a later time in the day, you can leave an off-air question. And we’ll try to get it answered by the next day and then you’ll hear it the next day when the program airs in your area. So take advantage of that and leave your offer a question. We have Charlie now down in Sarasota, Florida and Charlie welcome to Bibleline your own ear. Okay. You’re on the air. Okay.
Yes, Dr. I just have a question. I’ll sure do it. You know that whole movement is one of numerous crazy things that are happening that they are contributing to the Holy Spirit. Spirit. I believe this is a false movement. I believe it is demonic. I have gotten video tape of hours of this and I have sat and asked the Lord, what is going on here? And I noticed that He will read scripture and from the Psalms for example and people will laugh.
But I noticed something as I was observing whenever they got to a verse where the deity the deity of God or the glory of God was exalted. The laughter got more intense. To me it was like the demons were laughing at God and making a mockery of God through this laughter which is not coming from the Lord. Nowhere do you find it in the Bible at all. It cannot be supported from the Bible. But I noticed the real correlation.
You would hear this steady laughter and then all of a sudden, as you, and I would look in the passage in the Bible and say, all of a sudden he comes to the next verse, just glorifies God, his deity, his person, his glory, and the laughter would increase. And I said, my goodness sakes, they are laughing at God. This is a mockery of God. This is a demon’s. It’s none of the Lord. I totally reject that as not being from God, not of the Bible.
And certainly don’t seek after those things, or you’re going to be in real trouble. This is, of course, I think demonic. And obviously the message of this fellow and others like him is you can lose your salvation. So there you know that there are false prophets, that their message is not that of salvation by faith alone because if you can lose it, you’ve got to work to get it and keep it. And that means a works based salvation which we’re not safe.
So thank you Charlie for calling in and I hope that explanation helps you we have lara in uh… clear water florida laura welcome to bible and uh… thank you very much good morning morning my question is uh… what happens in a case of my husband and i move from new jersey to florida about two and a half years ago he has peace with it i don’t my family my friends they’re all back in new jersey and i’m having i’ve been struggling with this for since we’ve moved here.
Could it be possible that it’s God’s will for him and not me? I mean, it’s confusing to me. Yeah, I understand what you’re saying. But, you know, God does, if you’re both Christians, God is really to lead the family through the husband. And, of course, it’s possible that he has made a wrong choice. And maybe both of you ought to go back to where you came from. But you all need to sit and talk about it and maybe there might be a compromise.
Maybe you could visit back up there more often or have other ways to communicate that would make you feel more at home or maybe ask your husband to reconsider whether it was the right decision or not. Right. Well, we’re throwing that back and forth. But is there a passage in the Bible that I can read? I know you gave the gentleman before Colossians 3. Yeah, Colossians 3 about the peace of God guiding. If you have no peace, it’s probably not of God.
And God will give you peace about where he wants you to be. Even though there might be difficulties going on, struggles going on, you can have peace in the midst of a storm. Everybody once told me a story about where there was a competition to have an artist paint a picture that would depict peace. And the one that won the competition was one of a violent storm at sea. And the waves were roaring. yet. On one of the waves was a seagull sitting riding up and down on the top of the wave, and that was the one that really was a picture of peace.
So peace can happen in the midst of the storm, and God can give you peace about his will, even though things might be stormy around you. But I would also look at Romans 14 which talks about doubt being the opposite of faith. So if you have some severe doubts about the decision you’ve made, then it could be that it’s also not a Lord. But if God is somebody also once said, and I think this is true, don’t doubt in the darkness what God showed you plainly in the light.
So if you really were convinced both of you, it was God’s will when you first came, it could be that you’re doubting now, but you need to be careful. You don’t reverse what God wanted you to do. Right, that is exactly what I’m afraid of. So, both of you committed to the Lord and prayer and I believe if you’re asking for His guidance He’ll give you peace about the choice that you should make. Right. Well, thank you very much.
You’ve enlightened me tremendously. Thank you. Okay, Laura. God bless you. That is Laura in Clearwater and again another question about discerning God’s will in your life. We’re going to go to Nate in Belgrade, Florida. And Bellglades is in the heart of Florida down I think near the Lake Okeitobee region and Nate welcome to Bible Ed. Hey, don’t you think? Good. Good to hear from you. I’m glad that we’re reaching out. I hope you have told your friends there in Bellglades to listen to you.
I’m telling all of our I-N-O we reached a lot and clear. That’s beautiful. And I have a question for you. All right. No, and not at all. Moses was of the tribe of Levi. He was Jewish. And so he had a brother named Aaron, and Aaron of course was the one that God chose of his lineage to become the the priestly tribe so uh… uh… he was a Jew so uh… that helps you not thank you all right that was neat down in belgades telling his friends down there to listen into by the line we have buddy in mobile alabama and uh…
welcome alabama welcome buddy Hey, how are you doing? I just had a question real quick. I’ve noticed through the reading of a number of different books and that just listening to different rates. the different radio programs. I’ve noticed a hint of the doctrine of Calvinism coming back out in our Bible-believing circles. And I was just curious of what your stance on it from the Bible is about the doctrine of Calvinism. Because I’ve just noticed it. I don’t necessarily want to call it.
I’ve noticed that it’s coming back on the main stream a bit more. It’s usually done in the background in theological circles, but it seems to be coming to the forefront. I’ll just hang up and listen to your response on what you feel the biblical stance on the doctrine and destination. Well, I’ll do that, buddy, and thank you very much. You’re absolutely right. It seems to be coming more alive here as of late. There are five points of Calvinism and they are best remembered by the acronym Tulip.
Number one is T for Tulip is total depravity. And I believe in the depravity of man that Adam sinned in the garden and was not able to regain that form of position by his works or his deeds. And so man is depraved. But according to Calvinism, they say that you can’t even believe. They say that you are spiritually dead and dead men can’t do anything. But the Bible doesn’t teach that. The Bible does say that the gospel can be heard and the dead person who is spiritually dead can believe the gospel and become saved.
In John 5, 25 it says the hour is coming and now is when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God and they that hear that is here receiving it shall live. So a dead person can hear and can believe and can be saved. So I reject part of number one, I believe we are to pray, but I reject the fact that dead men can’t hear the gospel and cannot believe. They believe that God has to save you and then you become in tune with God’s Word, which of course in a way is true that we become…
He says, you’re not saved by works and I believe that and I agree with that. But Calvinism teaches you’re not even saved on the basis of works. I mean, I mean a belief. And so in other words, they say that God picks you out unconditionally and so forth. I mean a belief. And so in other words, they say that God picks you out unconditionally and saves you and then you believe as a consequence. I don’t believe that’s true at all.
I believe you believe and then you become saved. Calvinist teaches that you’re saved and then you believe as a consequence of being already saved by God who picks out which ones get saved and which ones don’t. The third one can’t be defensible at all. It stands for limited atonement. Basically the Calvinist teaches that Christ, or God didn’t waste any of Christ’s blood. He only died for the elect. Only the ones that God chose did Christ die for. That’s certainly not true.
First John 2.2 says Christ is the propitiation. That’s a big word that means a satisfying sacrifice. He’s the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. Pretty plain that Christ died just for the elect. He died for everybody. He’s the satisfying sacrifice for our sins, and not for ours only. It says in 1st time 2-2, but also for the sins of the whole world. And then of course you have the fourth point of Tulep, T-U-L-I-P, and that is irresistible grace for the eye.
And they say God’s grace cannot be resisted, but when God picks out somebody to be saved, he overpowers him and they have to cave in. Well, if you read the book of Acts in here, especially, you see the story there of Stephen preaching in Acts 7. He says to his audience, you do always resist the grace of God. So obviously that audience who is speaking to and the past generations he refers to all were resistant of God’s message and rejected it.
So you can reject it. You can resist it. And that again blows that one out of the water. I can’t accept that one at all. And then the last one is called the P, the Perseverance of the Saints, which is a subtle way that the Calvinist adds works to salvation. They’re saying that unless you persevere, unless you live faithfully out your Christian life until you die, then you have not had saving faith. And so it’s a way of robbing the believer of his assurance.
They’ll say in a common sending way sometimes are you sure that you have had saving faith? And wow that does a mind trick on you and I found that people then are confused as to whether they’re saved and they’re hoping they’ve had saving faith and saving faith they say is a working faith and if you don’t have any works then you’re not saved and so it’s a run about way to put works into salvation That’s phony-bologny. In fact, the Bible gives us example after example of people whose lives went in a negative way lot for example and Great Christians of the Bible who did the different crimes and their lives seemingly went negative and yet they were still saying David committed murder and adultery Moses committed murder and and Noah right after the flood got drunk and on and on and on the list goes on.
If you read the Corinthian letters, my goodness, that was a bunch of carnal Christians, yet they were saved and had nothing to do with this. That’s a man-made doctrine. The perseverance of the saints is a false one. And so I can’t, I believe there’s another position. That’s what the Bible says. And of course when you say I believe so and so and so and so and so, you start to get yourself in trouble because you ought to say I believe the word of God.
And buddy I hope that helps a little bit. That’s a quick synopsis. I have some tapes where I cover Calvinism but I really can’t agree. I would not be, you know some people say I’m a one point Calvinist or two point Calvinist a three point Calvinist or four point Calvinist, a five point Calvinist. That didn’t happen before but now people are beginning to expose the flaws in the five points of Calvinism and that’s where I stand on that. The Bible says, whose whoever believed it in Christ should not perish but have everlasting life.
The old Moody said the Whosoever wills are the elect and the Whosoever wants are the none like. There is a bona fide choice offered 7601 The God so loved the world all of mankind that he gave Christ to die for everybody, and he offers salvation to everyone that who so ever would believe in Christ. He is actually in the Bibleline and we are coming to you live right now at Tampa Florida from the Calvary Community Church and we invite you to call us at 1-800-575-6771.
We are going out of Fred in Richmond, Virginia. And Fred, you’re on the air. Well, hi, Dr. Hank. I was in the lift after 27 at lifts at one month in David’s Army. And in verse 7, I think it is at lifts. plunder hell is one of the killed by Abner. He couldn’t have been one of the commanders in David’s Army. So, I don’t know what to think about I’ll have to go back and take a fresh look at that.
But it could be maybe somebody else with the same name. Sometimes these things turn out that way unless he’s clearly identified as a particular person with that name. Sometimes. Yes, there’s brother of Joe actually. It’s the same person. OK. Well, then I’m going to have to do my homework and come back to you on that because I, off the top of my head, I don’t have that answer for you. So give me the first reference again. I’ll see what I can do before I come back on tomorrow.
What is that verse reference again? I want to write that down. Well, let me see. First Chronicles 27-7, I believe, is the verse where it lives in us. One of the commanders of 24,000. But in Second Samuel, I’m sure you know the story as well as I do. Definitely the same as the hell, but very confusing. I’m going to take a look at it for you and we’ll see what happens. Okay, I’ll listen to my all-time. Bye-bye. And we now are going to go to, I learned from my audience because when they ask me questions constitutionally, I get it and I’ll have it the next go round.
And we’re going to go to….. Edda in Plant City, Florida. Edda, welcome to AUTHORY on the air. Hello, how are you doing? Good. Good. Is Dr. Hay? Yes, it is. Yes, I’m a new listener and I must say I really enjoy your show doctor. Well, great. Okay. I have a question. database, can I read to have a more closer walk with God? Well, some good advice in Psalms and really take it to heart. What it’s saying, it says blessed or happy is the man that does not walk in the counsel of the ungodly.
If you’re listening to your unsafe friends about life issues and follow their advice and you’re making a big mistake. Secondly, it says the next thing is you sit, begin to stand with him. In other words, you’re listening and then all of a sudden you stop and you’re standing with him and the third thing you do is you sit with him and you kind of join him. But it says, blessed is the one whose delight is in the law of the Lord.
That’s God’s Word. And in his law that he meditate day and night. So that person is going to be blessed. That person is going to be fruitful and successful as a Christian. And so you need to be careful who you hang out with, who you listen to. And even among Christians, you need to pick out Christians that are ahead of you in the game. In other words, there are Christians that you can say, I need to get up to their level.
They’re ahead of me here and your growth. And kind of hang out with people that will stretch you and lift you higher because who you hang out with will make a difference the Bible says evil companions will corrupt good banners so you have to maybe not hang out with some people you’re presently hanging out with and not listen to some people you’re presently listening to and I would watch what you’re watching on television and radio and I would be selected and I would spend more time in the Bible and you’re gonna be fine.
Okay and another question can actually I’m having a problem with forgiveness. Okay. You’re having trouble with forgiving others? Yeah. Okay. Well, I like Ephesians 4.30. It says that you were to be kind-hearted and loving and forgiving others even as God for Christ I can forgive you. When you realize how wonderful the love of God is and how great His forgiveness was that He forgave you out of everything you’ve ever done wrong. And you didn’t deserve it because I didn’t deserve it either because of his love He did it and that we need to to exhibit that same kind of Thank you very much and God bless you.
say, well, if Christ could forgive me and he also died to pay for their sins, then I need to be able to forgive them also. Okay, God’s name. Okay. Thank you very much and God bless you. Well, thank you and God bless you. That was Etta in Plant City, Ephesians 430, great verse. We ought to forgive others as Christ has forgiven us. We are now going to go to John in West Palm Beach, Florida. We are.
And I don’t know if I have the right key here, but John, let’s see if we learn. Really appreciate it. Are you there, John? Or who do I have here on the line? This is Tim. Tim, all right. I miss John, but Tim, welcome. Where are you calling from? Calling from St. Pete. Look at that. You’re not too far away. No, I’m not. I just want to call and want to let you know that there was a pastor in Tampa just recently, blatantly allowed this, a man came on the pulpit and talked about how he, he’s such a righteous man, but yet he rejects Christ.
And what would your comments be on that? Because I believe that’s, that’s fairly against the word. Absolutely wrong, absolutely negligent. And we’ve got to get a break here. I’m Dr. Englundstrom and we were talking there with John and we’ll have to catch that tomorrow because we are out of time. I’m not going to go so quickly sometimes and we, I’m sorry we didn’t get that so we’ll be catching that tomorrow on the first thing up on our program.
