Salvation, as taught in the Bible, is a present possession, received at the time of the new birth or acceptance of Christ as one’s personal Savior, and is kept secure or eternal by God’s power.

You can call us at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Please feel free to give us a call. like that a lot of folks have difficulty separating between Salvation, which is what God does for us, and the Christian life, which is our response, which really the two are totally separate, and your Christian life does not have any bearing on whether you are saved or not. We are saved by what Christ did for us at the cross. You see, if we could have done anything to be saved, Christ never needed a leave heaven.
He didn’t come to just give us an assistance. He didn’t come to give us help. He didn’t come as a helper or as an educator or as an assistant, but he came to save us. The salvation we have in Christ according to the Bible is something that was accomplished at the cross and is received by us in real time at the moment we believe. Verse after verse after verse talks about salvation being a present possession at the instant of belief.
John 524 says, barely, barely ask him to you, he did hear my word and believe upon him it sent me half that means in modern English, has everlasting life. Let me ask you a question. If you have everlasting life right now, what kind of life will it be tomorrow? It will be everlasting. What about next week? It will be everlasting. What about next year? It will be everlasting. What about 100 years now? It will be everlasting. If you have everlasting life right now, it will be everlasting a million years from now, or God named it by the wrong term.
So if you trust Christ, you have everlasting life. You possess it at the moment you believe, and it continues to be everlasting. In John 1028, Jesus says, I give unto them eternal life. Secondly, he says, and they shall never perish. Never means never. Never. That means you’ll never go to hell because the parish is the wages of sin which is death. The second death is to be cast into the lake of fire. The Bible says, Jesus said in John 1028, those that believe on Christ, he says, I give him to them eternal life and they shall never perish.
Never perish. Never. And then lastly, he says in John 1028, and neither shall any put them out of my hand. In other words, you’re held by Christ and kept saved by Christ. That’s why you can’t be lost because you’re saved eternally and Christ makes it very plain in John 1028. I give them eternal life. They’ll never, never, never, never, never perish, never go to hell. and also neither shall any pluck them out of my hand. Eternal life is offered free.
In fact, it’s called the free gift of God in Romans 5, 15, Romans 5, 16. In Romans 6, 23, it says the gift of God is eternal life. The gift of God is eternal life. In Ephesians 2, 8, it says it is the gift of God. It’s a gift. It’s received by faith alone in Christ alone. In Matthew 7 there’s a verse that people just generally get that word wrong. It says, many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, haven’t we preached in your name and healed in your name and done many wonderful works in your name?
And this verse is talking to unbelievers. They claim that they are Christian, but notice what Christ says to them in verse 23, I never knew you. Not I once knew you and I lost you, they were never saved. But notice they think they are saved because they are counting on their works to save them, which won’t save you. Notice they acknowledge the Lordship of Christ. They say Lord, Lord. So these are people who recognize the Lordship of Christ. Notice they also claim to be obedient to the Lordship of Christ.
They mention three areas of obedience, why we preach in your name, area number one. Number two, we’ve cast out demons or healed people in your name. That’s area number two. And the third area of boasting or bragging is that we’ve done many wonderful works in your name. And what does Christ say? I never knew you. Why? They didn’t talk anything about trusting Christ in his shed blood and the finished work at the cross. They didn’t talk about how they trusted Christ and his death at the cross as the means of their salvation.
The fact that he was buried and he rose again from the dead, they’re bragging about self and what they did, why we preached, we healed, we did what many wonderful works. Long answer, wrong answer, wrong answer. We’re not saved on the basis of our works, which the Bible describes as filthy rags. We’re saved on the basis of faith in the finished work of Christ. Thank God I heard that message as a teenager. I trusted Christ as my Savior and I find that so many people are confused.
I was talking to one young lady and she said, you need to stop talking. You’re getting me confused. I said, look, you’ve been confused. I’m getting you unconfused. You know, people are confused when they come to me. And they get unconfused because the Bible unconfuses us. Satan wants to keep you confused. The Bible tells us in 2 Corinthians 11 that Satan, by any means as he beguiled Eve back in the Garden of Eden, that was Mrs. Adam, he wants to corrupt your minds to get you confused and drift you away from the simplicity that is in Christ.
I love that phrase because the message of the salvation is simple and people want to make it complicated and you can know that’s what the devil does. He tries to seduce you to beguile you through his subtlety by taking you away from the simple message. It is simple. If you say, well, let’s do simple. It is simple. God did it all. There’s nothing for you left to do. But simply receive this wonderful gift by trusting Christ as your Savior.
I hope you’ve done so. I’m Dr. Englands from This is Bibleline. We’d love to have you call us 1-800-576-3771. And we have Wayne, who’s driving in a car up in Pasco County, listening to Bibleline and Wayne. You’re on the air. Welcome to Bibleline. Good morning. I have a question. I thought it was tape. I think it was on the air a few months ago, but they’re an interesting piece that the Hidgley was a history channel did on the Exodus and how they were actually, you know, did some research and studied and tried to actually prove it.
And the interesting spin that I sort of wanted your perspective on is I’m used to people picking apart the exit story talking about you know natural phenomenon moving things from the red sea to the theory which the piece did but the fascinating aspect i found at the end was in the the person might have been jewish was in the statement kind of caught me off guard you know he said it is no less miraculous more excuse me more accurate if you know god could have planned a natural event you know like uh…
i think he attributed a lot of the things to a volcano that they know that erupted maybe a thousand uh… you know model the way or you know or something like that as you look at the concept and i guess my question to you is a did you see it you have any feedback me how would you sort of draw the line where you’re here sort of perk up in the thing you have a starting to look you know borderline on you know on hair cedar they’re getting way off track well i think i saw a portion of that of course they uh…
the reed c doesn’t meet the biblical description in any way obviously uh… for the whole edition army did run in six inches of water is kind of ridiculous and uh… the interesting thing that the different individual said was that they basically started dating things toward the volcano and they believe that the reed he is that way now but he did the study to where he thought that the sea might have swelled to i i think it was like forty fifty maybe even a hundred feet with ebbs and flows because of this volcanic action.
I’m sorry I didn’t mean to interrupt you but I yeah, I saw that but he doesn’t meet the description if you read what happened there the Bible tells us in existence 14 that Moses when he led the children miserable to the edge of the Red Sea There were mountains and they were Brought catered by the mountains on one side the sea Brought catered them on the other side and behind them was the Egyptian army coming apart on their heels and There is no mountains in the Reed Sea area of the Delta of the Nile and so it just doesn’t meet the biblical description They were trapped in the land and God did that on purpose So that he could show his power by dividing the Red Sea and letting them walk across on dry ground So I don’t believe it just match it doesn’t match up with the story at all
I think they’re trying to figure out a way to explain the story away And of course it seems in the natural mind to be logical as they would walk across in a marshy area. And I know what they’re trying to do, but they’re trying to, I guess, help God out here when the Bible I think is pretty plain that there was mountains right there and there’s no mountains in the Delta Martian area of the Red Sea. Okay, thank you.
All right, I just reject that whole thing as not being true. I don’t see a problem if he can create the universe to divide the sea. And then it says we went across on dry ground. They probably had to put goggles on, I think. The dust was kicking up, you know, from walking across on dry ground. So not only did God divide the sea, but numerous verses say that it was dry ground. It was dry. So God dried it up and they won across.
And I’ll mention the dust clogs kicking up. And then God brought the sea back and drowned the Egyptian army. Wayne, thank you for calling. And definitely these are programs that get us to thinking and debating. I just don’t think it meets the description. You read the Bible clearly. The people were complaining, Moses, what have you done? Have you brought us out here in the wilderness to kill us? We’re trapped by the mountains on the one side. We’re trapped by the sea on the other side.
And of course Moses said, stand still and see the salvation of God. And God had him lower his staff over the Red Sea and it parted and they went across on dry ground. I think Cecil did a meal that a pretty good job of depicting the way it probably really was. And thank you for that call. We have now Bill up in Pinellas County, which is a request to the bay here from Tampa. Welcome to Bibleline Bill. You are on the air.
Okay, I got three questions for you. One is I know the 22nd is the next due day, I guess for the rapid take place. Should it happen? Well, what is interesting is that the Jewish celebrate their day beginning at sundown. So that would be sundown tonight. But Israel is seven hours ahead of us. So really, at 11 o’clock this morning, it is sundown in Israel. And so the Feast of Trumpets really begins at 11 o’clock this morning here in the US of A.
So we could go out today. Right. at the English program I’ll see you in the air if it happens. I don’t know. But from Lebanon this morning to Lebanon tomorrow is the feast of trumpets as it is on the clock in Israel from sundown in Israel till sundown. The 22nd really is from Lebanon this morning to Lebanon tomorrow morning. I didn’t know. I was thinking maybe it started. It’s six to nine from six to six. Well, it does. But if you’re in Israel, that’s at 11 o’clock this morning.
They’re it’s getting late in the day right now. They’re seven hours later than us. So right now it’s about 10, 15 Eastern Standard Time. You had seven to that. And it’s 5 15 over there in Israel coming up on six o’clock. OK. Well, thank you for the call. That’s our question. One thing for you. this teaching about that and they said i guess it all are not over second this year the people i was listening to was saying that this is a time of year i guess that god set aside uh…
time you know where you they’re saying you can actually establish your own blessing for the upcoming year i guess based off your giving or something i know that all the uh… the uh… sharksters or the fleeceers are out there trying to use the way of getting you to give and then get money. That’s really not what it’s all about. For Israel, it’s a time of 10 days where they examine their lives and they get themselves right with the Lord.
And of course, the sad thing is for Israel when they get through the 10 days, they don’t have a sacrifice. They need a blood sacrifice to atone for their sins and they don’t have one. And of course, the answer is, Christ is that sacrifice. need to become the know Jesus in order to be forgiven of their sin. Leviticus 1711 says, the life of the flesh is in the blood and I’ve given it to you upon the altar to make it a toment for your soul for it is the blood that make it an atonement for the soul.
So it is the blood that can take away your sin and only the blood of Christ can really do that and the Jews will go through 10 days of reviewing their life and getting things in order but then they don’t have a sacrifice. So is that strictly for the Jews over there? Well, yeah. And it pertains to us in the sense that it is a prophetic picture of Christ death at the cross and the fact that He is the atonement.
He is the means by which our sins are forgiven. But there is no magic in giving money. And I read one of those letters that from in our church had gotten where they said that if they would invest a percentage of like if they invest 2,000 they’ll get a hundred times that back so they’ll get 200,000 back. Yeah, they say you get double portion and financial blessing. A lot of people are going to fall for that and the ones that are going to get rich are the ones that are sitting those letters out.
They used all to… 2-24th of 2-28 and it was my understanding that that scripture isn’t that like for the time of the tribulation? Absolutely. Well, it’s actually at the end. It’s when Christ comes back. You’ll see there. It talks about in verse 20 of Joel 2 about Russia being destroyed. and only a small portion of Russia existing the area up in the area which is now Siberia. And then Christ returns and blesses the land and he draws in their midst.
And so that’s still featured, hadn’t happened yet at all. I’d just come and stand while they were using that part of scripture for this. They’re wanting to make money and they’re twisting scripture to try to get you to Send your money in and and make you think that if you give it on the special occasion God’s gonna bless you It’s a rip-off And what other question in the book of Revelation where John talks about saying these 24 elders and you know How they’re bowing down before the throne and everything.
Yes, how is it that he sees them because I thought Are they not spear well that this is the you know after the rapture and it’s in heaven and John there is caught into the future. It actually sees the events take place that unfold for the tribulation period. And these 24 are the ones that represent I think all of mankind. I believe 12 of them are the 12 patriarchs of Saint, 12 sons of Jacob and the other 12 are the 12 apostles.
And so he sees the throne scene and what will happen as the tribulation period begins as it starts up in heaven with God’s unfolding His plan, how He’ll take over the earth away from Satan and set up His kingdom at the end of that seven years when the Christ comes back to rule and to reign. So He’s not our choice? He just… Well, I think He actually literally goes into the future and actually sees it taking place as it happens.
So He’s actually in the Raptor time. Yeah, and chapter four was one the picture of the rapture John hears a voice like and it sounds like it’s the voice of Christ in verse chapter one And then it says here he saw door opened and he has a voice saying come up Hither and we believe that’s a picture of the rapture from that point on the church is no longer mentioned in the book of Revelation Because it’s taken off the earth and most of the book of Revelation chapters 4 through 19 are are commentary on the seven years of tribulation.
Okay. They just confused me because I thought they… Yeah. They said they didn’t actually get their glorified bodies until the end of the tribulation time. So I didn’t understand how he was actually seeing them. I see what you mean. But the apostles would have, because, I mean, the believers of this age, which would include the apostles, would get theirs at the rapture. So it could be that they had their bodies. Oh, okay. Sounds good. Thank you, and that was Bill in Pinellas County, and we’re so excited about you being able to be out there and listening and the phone number is 1-800-576-3771 and we have Jose in Seminole, Florida Jose welcome to Bibleline.
I Hey, hey, how’s it going all right? Okay, it’s out of the Bible plus a question Have you ever noticed in the pictures of the Israelites crossing the Red Sea? Have you ever noticed that they don’t cross over the endif the West part of the Red Seaposted? The red part, which is where the water is, I mean? Yeah, if you look, it shows them going over the northern part of the Red Sea. Yeah, I know. And I don’t know if I agree with any of that either.
Oh, I do. They went over the, I mean, that water, they went over the deep part for sure. because you know that’s what the bible says but if you Rove said Mulcair I think the miracles are difficult to believe for some people they don’t believe in miracles so they just try to help God out and give a nice. ]), I just wanted to hear that with you. I don’t know if you ever saw that. I saw you. I have.
Another quick question. You know how God doesn’t get the credit for a lot of things that we do on a daily basis? Well, in the business world, you’ve heard of Energy Right where when a group gets together, they perform a lot better and can create much more than if they acted on a single basis. Yes, okay. Well, that, you know, Synergy is something I think that I talked about in the cleasy acid place that to or that in the cleasy acid Okay And then it goes on it says because they can warm each other, but then you read down a little further It’s because a three-fold cord is not easily broken Interesting huh it is yeah, and that’s what you see in a rope all the time this many different strands and Cable of middle cable often as many stars trans all wound together is pretty strong

Just go to the BibleLineMinistries.org.com website and you’ll be able to catch the radio programs programs and many other things that are helpful there for you. We’re going to go to Jerry in Plant City and Jerry, welcome to Vibe on Your On The Air. If you’ve done me a favor and please expound on the correlation of Posh Hashanah and the rapture because I’m just a little confused what which is no man will bet nor the day, more of the hour.
not personally hope it is. When Christ says you can’t know the day or the hour, he doesn’t say you can’t know the week of the month. I think the day or the hour is because God knows that we have a round earth that has 24 time zones. Even though Christ comes back at one point in time on the clock around the world, depending on where you live, It might be any hour in a 24 hour period. And if you live on one side or the other of the international date line, it could actually be the day before or the day after.
So you can’t know the day or the hour, I think, because the Earth is round and there are 24 time zones. That is my view. But yet at the same time, I believe you can know what day It is as far as the feast days that were given back in Leviticus 23. That’s where you have all seven feast days and the fifth feast day is of course the feast of trumpets which I believe pictures the rapture. The first was Passover.
Christ died as the fulfillment of that. 1 Corinthians 5-7 tells us that it says even Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us. We know in the Passover curse every year and we know that Christ was crucified in the evening of the Passover. That is that period of time between 3 and 6 on the preceding afternoon and Christ died exactly at 3 o’clock at the beginning of that twilight period of Bible describes as when the Lamb and Israel would be slain.
He was buried during the Feast of Unleavened Bread in Feast 2. He was resurrected on the Feast of First Fruits, the Third Feast which was always a Sunday. Corinthians 15 verses 23-22 tells us that Christ fulfilled that He was the first fruits of the resurrection. The fourth feast was Pentecost that happened exactly on the day and in Acts 2 1 it says when the day of Pentecost was fully come. The word Pentecost means 50 days. It was always 50 days after the resurrection.
Then we find that the Holy Spirit came and this age began. The next feast is in the fall and it is the Rosh Hashanah feast or the feast of trumpets and it happens to fall this year on September 22nd and that is at 6 o’clock this evening Jewish people in Tampa will celebrate it but in Israel 6 o’clock is actually 7 hours ahead of us so it’s at 11 o’clock this morning here. 11 o’clock, Rosh Hashanah begins and anytime between now and 11 this morning and 11 tomorrow is actually Rosh Hashanah as it is celebrated in Israel.
So we can’t say exactly the hour but we can say that whatever your crisis is going to come back, it will probably be on this feast date. But if you’re living in California, that’s a 3 hour difference. If you’re living in Alaska, that’s a four-hour difference. If you’re living in Israel, that’s a seven-hour difference where we are. So to know the exact hour and depending on which side of the international date line you are, it could be the previous day or the day after.
And so I think maybe that might help you grasp this a little bit. But I think God is smart enough to know all that. And so He put that in the Bible so that depending on where you live on the planet, because Because this is a message of the gospel that affects everybody on the planet and Christ return that the rapture will affect believers all over the planet, not just in a certain area on the planet. So people in Africa, in Australia, in Asia, in Europe, in South America, wherever they might live, if they are living when Christ returns the rapture and they are a believer, They’re going to be caught up to meet the Lord in the air.
So thank you for that call. I hope that helps a little bit and I’m not saying I know when the Lord’s coming back. I know what every year he comes. He probably will come Since the first four feast days were fulfilled literally on the day, we believe this one also will be fulfilled literally on the day. Thank you Jerry. We’re now going to go to Ryan in St. Petersburg and Ryan. Welcome to Bibleline. Hi, Hank. How are you doing?
Good. I have a Tuesday really quick. I was thinking about a man I’m walking and talking that I was thinking about. about the funding sermon that we just had, and particularly in Micah 7, when it says, man has perished out of the earth. And when the rapture happens, we’re gonna be caught up together in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so shall we ever be at the Lord. What is scenario Jesus comes back and takes just our soul and spirit and touches us up in the air to meet him in the Lord and we get our new bodies on the way up.
is our whole body just all the sudden there’s all these dead people on the ground and to the test. But as I think the test went all axiality they were caught up in the air, to meet the Lord in the air but there’s all these dead bodies everywhere. Okay, I’ve heard people speculate that but that’s not what’s going to happen to the Rapture ride. when Enoch was a picture of the Rapture back in Genesis, he was translated so that he would be with the Lord and that’s a picture of the Rapture.
And the Bible says they looked for him, they sought him and they couldn’t find him because his body was gone. And in Philippians 3, verses 20 and 21, it tells us that we’re waiting and watching for Christ to return from heaven. and it tells us there that who will change, change, transform our vile body that might be fashioned like in his glorious body. So when we go up physically, bodily, our body is actually going to be renovated or changed or converted into a brand new perfect body.
So our bodies are not going to be left behind. So we’re excited about how we’re going to straight to be with the Lord. All right Ryan, thank you so much for that call and the bodies won’t be strewn around the earth. Now I believe you’ll drop whatever you’re wearing. Your clothes will drop, your rings and watches and high glasses and all those things will be laying on the ground wherever you were. But the body is going to be taken up and you’ll get a new body.
It will be transformed into a new body on the way up. We have Wilburn in Richmond, Virginia and Wilburn. Welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Good morning. God made our teeth to be omnivores, meaning to eat both plants and animals. How do you explain that in regard to the garden and also on the fact that Jesus after rose on third day he was here for forty more days and wondering if he ate well the answer is he did eat if you read Luke 24 a eight fish and honeycomb on one occasion when he was with his disciples after the resurrection and obviously mankind before the flood did not eat meat but after the flood of Noah God gave permission to eat meat and from that point on we ate meat.
But if you read Genesis early on it tells us that they were eat to eat the herbs and the seeds and the fruitsisites and so on. But then after the flood of Noah God changed things so that man now can eat meat. But Christ didn’t definitely eat after the resurrection and his resurrection body. Thank you for that call. And that was Wilburn up in Richmond, Virginia. We now have some off-air questions. We have here off-air Bill calls in from Tampa and he says, please explain the judgment of the nations as regard to works.
It says if you didn’t help these people they would go to wait to eternal punishment. Well it doesn’t say that, but it says the sheep did feed and clothe and take care of the brethren there. Those are Christ’s brethren. I believe those are the 144,000 Jewish men. Who will be evangelizing after the rapture during the tribulation and the nations are going to be held in judgment as to how they treated Israel. And so the saved, the sheep, because they were evangelized in one to Christ by the hundred forty thousand will have compassion on them and visit them in prison, and they will give them clothing and food and so on as they will be persecuted and actually all martyred.
But the goats or the lost on the left end of Christ will not have helped them or fed them or clothed them or visited them because they could care less. And so there are several groups involved there in that judgment. The sheep which are the same, the goats which are the lost. And then you have another group which Christ calls his brethren which are the Jewish brothers of Christ, the 144,000 Jews that will be evangelizing in the tribulation. And notice they didn’t become sheep because they did those things, but the sheep did those things because they became sheep by a new birth when they heard the message proclaimed by the brethren of Christ.
And the goats were, goats because they were lost in order for them to become sheep, they didn’t have to become born again. But they obviously as goats by nature do certain things, sheep do other things by nature. The goats by their old sinful nature did not care about the brethren of Christ and did not visit them. But they were already before they did any deeds considered either righteous or wicked, saved or lost, sheep or goats based upon whether or not they had trusted Christ as Savior.
So works have no part in our salvation. It does tell us that the sheep did have compassion on the 144,000 we have several people trying to get up on the air. We’ll try to get them as quickly as we can we have Jose and Val Rico and Jose welcome to my mind you’re on the air Yes Good morning, how you doing good Well, I’m just glad to hear you. I love you so. I just pray that the Lord bless you and your ministry.
They’re more ready. Already purify you as you’ll be on there. Thank you. Anyway, I just saw you in regard of the color earlier, the color of the nation of Israel crossing the Red Sea and the skeptic thing. They might cross the shallow end. Anyway, I don’t think you’ll make it less numerical if they did the shallow end of the deep end, deep in because if they say they call for me and I water then let us get the explain how the whole army of the pharaohs down me and I water I know it I think that’s funny I mean that’s ridiculous they’ve fun to discredit the god and I guess it’ll make those search thoroughly you know exactly you’re absolutely right and that makes a greater miracle than the Bible describes yeah that will make it just a greater miracle itself yeah Anyway, that’s a hang.
You have a blessed day and keep on trucking there. We love you. God bless you. Thank you, Hosei, in Valarico, Florida. We have John in Eustis, Florida. John, welcome to the Bible. You’re on the air. Yeah, good morning, Pastor Hank. First of all, do you mind if I call you Pastor Hank? That’s fine. Okay, because I know a lot of people call in, they just call you Hank. But you know, when Ephesians 4, 11, the Word of God tells us that you’ll give his passage in and teachers.
And that’s how I look at you as a pastor, teacher, rightly dividing the word of truth. Give me line upon line and precept upon precept. You take a little here, a little there, put it together and give us the finished work that Jesus said on the cross. And I thank you for being who you are in Christ Jesus, our Lord and Savior. And I think you’re a wonderful pastor, teacher. And you deserve that title. Well thank you John. You got a question today?
The Lord is coming. Amen. Amen brother. Alright and I enjoy your show. Thanks an awful lot. Keep up the good work and may God continue to bless you. Thank you so much John and use this Florida and we now have Gary down in Bradenton Florida. You’ve been persistent to get on the air. We have problems getting you up. Yes good morning doctor. Good morning. Just to Continue our discussion on Hebrew 6, 4 through 8, and Hebrews 10, whether your belief of once saved, always saved, versus possibly what I think these scriptures indicate in these contexts that if you continue sending after received.
The knowledge of truth you are not saved. And I think to respond to your answer yesterday, again, verse 8 in Hebrews 6 talks about these individuals who are going to be rejected and near it’s accursing whose end is to be burned. And obviously that is a reference. It’s not, well, I think it’s a little reference, but it’s all for me. so analogy used to those who continue to send after they’ve received the word and I think if you look at John 15 six where Jesus said if a man abide not in me he is cast forth as a branch and is withered and men gather him and cast him into the fire and they are burned and this whole context of being burned is always referred to people of the devil and the non-believers and then to continue on to Hebrews 10.
Well, let me just stop for just a second here because I believe John 15.6 is talking about fruit bearing and that the person who doesn’t produce fruit, his rewards will be burnt up. It says, men gather them, which I believe their testimony is of no value to men, and so it’s rejected in his burn. And in 1 Corinthians 3 at the Judgment of Christ, it talks about the believer will have his works evaluated and if his works are burned up he will have no reward but if his works remain because they were done things that were done for the Lord they will receive a reward.
So I don’t believe he is talking about the person being cast into hell here but the result of their labor if it was not done for Christ will be burned. Well, okay, that’s happening, you know, someone into the fire. I think it’s a fair interpretation that talks about the soul will be cast in the fire, which is the non-believer. And then continue with Hebrews 10. If, you know, again, it says, for those who sin willfully, after receiving the knowledge, there remains no more sacrifice for sin.
Obviously implying that if you don’t sin willfully, that there continues to remain a sacrifice for sin, but then it says, but if you sinwellfully, but a certain fearful looking for judgment and fiery indignation which shall devour the adversaries. Clearly in the Scriptures the avoceries always in reference to the devil and his minions and people who are destined for hell. And then if you go to verse 39 again, it says, but we are not of them who draw of them that believe for the saving of soul.
So those that are drawback, the ones that fall away who continue the sin, if you look at the word perdition in your King James, it’s used eight times in the New Testament and it’s always referring to the ungladly where the beast goes, the day of judgment and perdition and the context is talking about those people are going to be sent to hell. I don’t know how you can read it otherwise. It just boggles my mind. Let me go back here and believe what we’re saying in verse 26 is that even though you sin willfully, you don’t need another sacrifice.
This chapter is clearly teaching. It says by one sacrifice verse 10. It talks about again by one sacrifice verse 12 verse 14. Again by one sacrifice verse 14 Christ died once to pay for sins forever. And then once that happens, when you receive that, there are sins and iniquities. I remember no more, verse 17, and where remission of these is verse 18, there is no more offering for sin. What it’s saying is you don’t need another offering. The one-time sacrifice of Christ was sufficient, and verse 26 brings up the topic that even if you sin willfully, you do not need another sacrifice.
The one-time sacrifice of Christ was sufficient to save you right from the get-go. That doesn’t mean that you’re going to get away without being punished. And I think verse 27 is talking about in this life that God will become indignant. And as he did in the Old Testament, devour the adversaries and the willingness, he killed 23,000 Christians in one day. That God will take away your life early and he’ll take you home to heaven before you ought to have gone.
But he’s not talking about hellfire. He is talking about taking the believer who is delinquent home to heaven early and in verse 39 I think is the confirmation of that. We the writer of Hebrews including himself are none of them who draw back into hell, but we are the ones who believe to the deliverance of the soul. The soul will never go to hell and verse 39 I think is a confirmation that this is an eternal salvation we have and will never draw back.
We can get away from the Lord. We can stop serving Him and we can do all kinds of things that would offend the Lord. We will never end up in hell because we have been delivered from hell, but he will become indignant and he will judge us and he might even take our lives. I believe that is what he is talking about here in this chapter. Well, I think when you say devour our adversaries and fiery indignation, that is not just believers who fail to do good work.
It is referring to those who are truly avid theories of God and that is the devil and anyone that wants to line up with the devil and they’re going to be into perdition because that’s what’s going to happen if you continue to sin willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth. Well in verse 39 it says we are none of them who draw back into perdition. You’re not going to go to hell. But you’re in that group that believed to the saving of the soul.
The soul is saved but the body can be destroyed by Christ if you are going to be adversarial to the Lord as a believer. It talks about following verses 28 about a person who doesn’t count what happened at the cross of real value to them, that they tread underfoot the blood of Christ and they do despite to the spirit of grace. It talks here about how they were obviously participants of salvation because it says here wherewith they were sanctified.
This blood that Christ offered at the cross, they are saved, but then he talks about how that these saved people need to get back on track or they will experience the Lord’s disciplining upon their life. He says notice in verse 32, call to remembrance the former days in which you were illuminated and you endure a great deal of afflictions and how they had endured different sufferings because of their living for Christ. Then he says in verse 34, you had compassion of me and my bonds and took joyfully the spoiling of your goods, knowing in yourselves that you had in heaven a better and enduring substance.
So he says in verse 35, don’t cast away there for your confidence, which hath great recompense of reward. This is what we were talking about late yesterday, about when Hebrew 6, that they fell away from their confidence, their steadfastness, their assurance, and they got away from the Lord, and they didn’t need to go back and become saved again, which is impossible, but they needed to become servants again and get in on the reward that God had for them. And he says in verse 36, you have need of patience.
You need to stick with the program, even though it might be difficult. And God is going to reward you for that. If you don’t, even if you sin willfully, you don’t need another sacrifice, but you will be punished. You will find that God will get his ire up and in fire indignation might take your life early and you might go to heaven before you’re planned on going. And then he reminds us in verse 39 that we believers are not of that group that will draw back or drift away from the Lord to the place that we wind up in hell.
But we’re in that group that have believed to the saving of our soul. Gary will have to pick it up again tomorrow because we are out of time here. We’re only very into the show and want to thank all of you for listening today. And if you have not trusted Christ, let me just ask you to take this minute and whisper prayer between you and the living God. Just say, Lord, I am a sinner. I don’t understand much about the Bible, but I believe Jesus Christ died for me, paid my sin dead and full was buried and rose again from the dead and the Lord will save you.
And from that moment on you possess everlasting life. If you could lose it, it wouldn’t be everlasting life. You have everlasting life from the moment you believe it will be everlasting life tomorrow, next week, next year, a hundred years from now, a million years from now. And What can be lost is joy, testimony, effectiveness. You can lose rewards and you can even lose your life as the Lord will discipline the delinquent believer. But once you trust Christ, my friend, you are eternally saved.
And this chapter tells believers that we need to get closer to the Lord and live for the Lord and not cast away our confidence which have a great recompense of reward according to this chapter. If we are patient and are faithful, we will have rewards in heaven based upon our faithfulness to the Lord after we have become saved. I hope you have prayed this prayer to trust the Lord of Savior, and I hope that you would choose to live for Christ and earn the rewards that God wants to bestow upon you for your faithful service for Him.
There’s a big world that needs to know about Jesus and we need to be telling the world about Christ. Certainly, if the Lord were to come today or tomorrow, we’ll meet you in the air if you’re a believer. If you’re an unbeliever, you’ll be left behind. Of course, we don’t know when Christ will come. But He could come today. Wouldn’t that be something if we met each other in the air? I’ve got to run. We’ll be back tomorrow. I hope you’ll watch our television program tonight on Direct TV at 6.30, Channel 321 at 7 o’clock throughout the West Coast of Florida on the CTN Network.
