Most Christians are not aware of how serious it is to add to what Jesus Christ has finished! It is the difference between whether or not a person is saved. It is the difference between heaven and hell.

We want to say that we have these classes tonight Tonight, if you’re in the Tampa Bay area, we want you to come out tonight at 7 o’clock. We’re teaching a class called meeting the challenge. It’s an exciting class. Several have already said this has really been a challenge to them as it’s lifting them up to the next level in their Christian life. And it’s a broad spectrum study from all parts of the Bible and talking about what the challenge is, how to meet that challenge.
What if and what if not? And how to be successful at meeting the challenge that God leaves to every one of us as believers. We have a wonderful time here on Tuesday nights and this will be class three and four tonight. We do two each night. That’s from seven till nine at seven. We’ll do class three and eight. We’ll do class four and then at nine we go home and then we’ll have three more weeks after tonight. You can get these on CD and I believe you can also register and get a passcode and actually enter the class on your internet wherever you might be on the planet earth.
You can be a part of the class and you can go back and watch the classes again and catch up on that first class if you missed that. So welcome to Bibleline. I’m Dr. Inklynstrom and we’re going to get right to the Bible and then we’re going to take questions. We have a number of all fair questions and we’ll try to get those also taken care of as well as the live callers today. You know the Bible in 1 Corinthians 15 says, I delivered unto you, first of all, that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures and that he was buried and that he rose again The third day according to the scriptures, by the way, that is the classic passage that defines for us what the gospel is.
And you know, a lot of people today have no clue what the gospel is. They just don’t know. And the term gospel is so loosely used that it’s applied to so many things. move. We’ll use it to talk about music. If music is at least religious, sometimes they’ll say that’s gospel music. Well, that’s a gospel radio station. That’s a gospel program. And just because of the music being a little bit religious, but that’s not technically correct. If you define the gospel as the Bible does, as we just read here, that Christ died for our sins, according to the Scriptures was buried in Rose again from the dead, according to the Scriptures the third day.
That is the gospel the death the barrel the resurrection of Christ So a song that is a Christian song. Let’s say What about that great hymn what a friend we have in Jesus? Technically, that’s not a gospel hymn Because it’s talking about prayer and how we often failed to pray and miss out on the blessings and the peace it can come by turning to the Lord in prayer But a hymn like the old-rated cross would be a gospel hymn because it talks about the death and the burial and the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Same thing is true in church. Sometimes a minister will deliver a message and people are blessed and they say, well, that was a great gospel message. But you know, if the preacher didn’t cover at all the death and the burial and resurrection of Christ. It might have been a great Bible message, but it isn’t a gospel message unless the message of the death and the burial and the resurrection of Christ is covered. And most people, again, aren’t aware of that.
I remember a number of years ago we visited London, England, and I had led a girl to Christ down in South Florida. And my wife and I visited London and we looked her up and she wanted us to try to lead her boyfriend to Christ. Well we went out to a restaurant in London and we were explaining the gospel and all of a sudden as we defined it he said like the light turned on in his head. I understand it.
He said, you mean to say that the gospel of Matthew is the message of the death and the burial and the resurrection of Christ as described by Matthew. I said yes. He said, you mean the Gospel of Mark is the message of the death and the burial and the resurrection of Christ as recounted by Mark? I said yes. He said, you mean the Gospel of Luke is the message of the death and the burial and resurrection as given to us by Luke and all of a sudden the light came on.
That’s true. A lot of people talk about the gospels, they have gospel readings in their church and have nothing to do with the gospel at all. The Bible says in Romans 1 and 16, I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for if the gospel is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeeth. You must believe the gospel, trust that Christ died for your sins was buried and rose again from the dead, nor to be saved.
It was His death and shed blood that purchased our salvation. And in notice this great passage here that we quoted, 1 Corinthians 15 verse 3. It says, I delivered unto you first of all, that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures. What is interesting there is Christ died. That, of course, we know. But the phrase here, which is so important, it says, for our sins. Who Who else has died for your sins?
Muhammad didn’t, Buddha didn’t, Confucius didn’t, and only founders of all over religions didn’t die for your sins. There’s only one my friend in all of history that died for your sins. Muhammad certainly didn’t. There’s only one Savior. This is the uniqueness of the gospel message. It is the message of Christ’s death on the cross of Calvary to pay for your sins. And it says here according to the Scriptures which means what? The Old Testament foretold it, and Christ died exactly as the prophets had described.
He died by crucifixion. Did you know that Psalm 22 verse 16, a thousand years before Christ ever came, tells that his hands and his feet would be pierced? That is incredible. Think about it. crucifixion wasn’t even invented yet. It was a Roman thing. It was a Roman way of torturing a person in their death, making them die a torturous death, pain and agony as they died being nailed to a cross. And here a thousand years before that ever happened, before the Romans ever even thought about how to kill people this way, the Bible said in Psalm 22, that Jesus…
That is, hands at his feet would be pierced. Even such detail that it says in Psalm 22 18 that they gambled for his cloak at the foot of the cross. Isn’t that incredible? That’s why I believe the Bible’s word of God. That’s why I know that it has to be true. Is God foretold it long before it ever happened? It says there in 1 Corinthians 15 3 that Christ died for our sins. It says according to the Scriptures, then it says, and he was buried and that he rose to the cross.
Because again the third day according to the Scriptures did you know that the resurrection of Christ is also in the Old Testament? The fact that he came back again from the dead, that he would live forever? It’s right there even in the 22nd Psalm where it talks about his crucifixion and also talks about his resurrection. Can David, the one who writes these Psalms in the 23rd Psalm, follows up and says, the The Lord is my Shepherd. I shall not want.
David trusted in the good Shepherd that gave his life for the sheep as he as a prophet of God told about his future death a thousand years before it ever happened. And because David said he trusted in that Savior Jesus, the Lord is my Shepherd. I shall not want. He goes on to say in verse 6, surely goodness and mercy shall follow me. All the days of my life, and I will. I will. Well, in the house of the Lord forever, he didn’t say, maybe he didn’t say, I hope.
He said, I will. Well, David knew he was saved. And every person that saved can know that they’re saved, but you know, most people don’t know, even though they’re religious, even though they go to church. If you ask them, do you know if you’d go to heaven when you die? They’ll say something like, I hope, or I guess. David didn’t say that. David said I will go in the house of the Lord forever because David knew he was saved and he was saved at the moment he believed and there is such craziness out there in Christianity today where most people think they have to wait till after they die to find out whether they make heaven or not.
You don’t have to wait. Right now you could receive the gift of eternal life. Right now you could just tell the Lord Lord I am a sinner. all are, but I trust Jesus Christ right now as the one who died for me in Shaddis’ blood at the cross was buried and rose again from the dead. The Bible says that all that believe that gospel message are saved because the gospel is the power of God, Romans 1, 16, unto salvation to everyone that believe it.
When you trust Christ, my friend God saves you forever. I heard it when I was 18, I trusted Christ and my friend, I have eternal life and I know where I’m going when I die. Do you know where you’re going? If you don’t know, then you’re probably not going. You need to trust Christ right now as your Savior. Just tell the Lord, Lord, I am a sinner. That’s being honest, we all are. But I trust Jesus Christ right now as my Savior, believing He died and paid for my sins was buried and rose again from the dead and doctoring this is by one we’re going to go to the phone lines we invite you to call us at one eight hundred five seven six three seven seven one and we have married on the line from Tampa florida and marry welcome to bible and you’re on the air
uh… yes dr minstrom uh… i was referring to the old test yeah the old testament and i noticed uh… where uh… They had talked about being the Jewish law. And what is the Talmud? The Talmud is Jewish rabbinical writings about the Bible. Oh, okay. Well, when it refers to the Old Testament as the Jewish laws and where to follow the Bible? Well, the Jewish laws are really the commandments given by God at Mount Sinai, and those are God’s laws that he gave to Israel, and sometimes people might say the Jewish laws, but they are God’s laws that he gave to Israel, and basically most people focus on there are about 969 different commandments, but there were 10 that were inscribed by the finger of God two tablets of stone and that’s what we mostly focus on those 10 commandments that God gave Moses their Mount
Sinai. Oh good. Thank you very much. Mary, you’re most welcome and thank you for calling Bible on today. The phone number is 1-800-576-3771. We have Lydia calling in from California listing out there on the Internet And she says, where in the Bible does it show that the Holy Spirit What is the number of verses that you can use? It says in Acts chapter 5, we have the story of Ananias and Sephira in chapter 5 of the book of Acts.
And here they lied to about their property and about their sale of the property. And it says in verse 3 of Acts 5, 3, we have the number of verses that we have in verse 5. Peter said, Ananias, why hast thou Satan filled in heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the land? And when you find in the next verse he says you have not lied to Ben, but you have lied unto God. Well, if you connect the dots there you find that he said in one verse you’ve lied to the Holy Spirit, the next verse says he lied to God.
And that’s one of numerous verses you could use to show that the Holy Spirit is God. In the Old Testament it talks about the Spirit of Jehovah and referring to the fact that the Spirit is Jehovah, that he is the Lord God. And I’ll have to try to dig around here and find some more for you. But Lydia, that’s a good one where the Holy Spirit is God. One more I’ll give you is 2 Corinthians 3 17. 2 Corinthians 3 17.
It says, Now the Lord is that Spirit. So the Lord is that Spirit, referring to the Holy Spirit being God. Lydia, thank you for calling in. We’re so glad you’re able to catch the program out there in California. Isn’t that wonderful? And thank you for calling in. If the ear Maryland in Tampa just calls in and she says, you say once saved, always saved. Well, the Bible teaches that. But if one sins and does not repent, well, they still go to heaven.
I need to talk about repentance here because the word repent means to change your mind. The Greek word translated repent is meta noia. Noya is a Greek word that means change. M-E-T-A, Noya is a word in the Greek that means mind, M-I-N-D, and metanoya, the two words together mean a change of mind. That’s translated into the English word repent. Unfortunately, the English word repent wasn’t a good translation. It doesn’t mean the same thing. If you look up repent in your English dictionary, it’ll say turn from sin or to be sorry for sin.
But the Greek word doesn’t mean that. I was a terrible translation in English. That’s one of the flaws in the translation where they didn’t have an equivalent word. But the word simply means a change of mind. And when you believe on Christ, you do change your mind. You do repent when you trust Christ. It’s impossible to trust Christ without having changed your mind from whatever you were previously trusting in to trusting in Christ. So if one sins and does not change their mind about that sin, well they still go to heaven and the answer is of course yes, you cannot be lost once you become saved, but you might go to heaven sooner than you planned on going.
And you see numerous examples of that in the New Testament. If you read 1 Corinthians 1130, it bitches the Corinthians who were willfully sinning with this regard to the fact that God didn’t want him to do that. And it says, for this reason, it says many of you are weak and many of you are sickly, and many of you sleep. That means they were dead, not taken as siesta. And it says here in that 1 Corinthians 11 passage in verse 31, if you would judge yourself, then you would not be judged by the Lord.
If you would correct your life and live a life in line with God’s Word, then God wouldn’t have to judge you. But verse 32 says in 1 Corinthians 11, 32, it says, but when we are judged, Christians are judged, we are chasin or disciplined of the Lord that we should not be condemned with the world. Maryland, that’s a great passage to look at. 1 Corinthians 11, 30, 32. Many of the Corinthians Christians were taken home to heaven early. Many were weak, many were sickly, many died, many slept.
It says if you want to judge yourself and correct yourself so that you don’t come under God’s judgment, you can avoid the chastised of God, but verse 32 says, but when we are judged, Christians are judged, we are chastened or disciplined of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world. The world is going to be cast into hell. Aren’t you glad we’re not going to be judged as the world is judged? I don’t want to be cast into hell, but those who don’t know Christ will be cast into hell.
But those that are believers are going to be disciplined. And not cast into hell. We’re going to go to Ken in Clearwater and Ken welcome to Bibleline. You are on the air. Ken from Clearwater, welcome to Bibleline. Hi Hank. I listened to you daily. I’ve got a maybe convertum if you will. That’s exactly right. They couldn’t really respond to that. Maybe whether or not. Well the book we have in our Resource Center is called The Kingdom of the Cult by Walter.
And that covers most all the major major cults and it really is very thorough. You’ll know more about the cult than the cult member knows himself or herself about the cult. You can order that and we’ll ship it over to you. But it’s really wonderful. Do the tunnel with the quick reference? Yeah, absolutely. The reference differences. Yeah, and then we have a pamphlet too. I think it sells for about a dollar and a half or two dollars and it has about eight of the major cults and it has columns where it shows you what they believe in reference to seven different major areas salvation heaven hell the Bible and so on and then uh…
shows you a column as to what the Bible says in contrast to their teachings and it quotes their writings so you have direct quotes of when they say there is no hell you have a quote from their writings where they teach that there is no hell and so on so on and i mean that’s what we’re at work told to do the christian we’re told to bring the true gospel to all the world and and uh… where to win everybody to christ and and uh…
certainly jose witnesses need to be led to christ well there you go i need that information well como operators after the program and they’ll be glad to assist you thing number alright okay alright thank you and uh… that was ten in clear water and now we have uh… we have brad it clear water brad welcome to the Good morning, Patrick Lynch Trump, student letter, Chairman of the Bureau. If you listen to Dr. Guez Friday, and I took your advice.
I don’t bow my head or try to write down something while on the highway. He said that, I can’t remember as best as I could, and I think he said that the righteous person sees the unrighteous ruin their lives. The righteous learn from it. So I just wanted to share that with you, and you can tell me if I got it right and what I just repeated. I’ll look at you back again. Okay, Brad. I have no idea what Charles Stanley had heard, a set or what you heard as you’re driving in the highway, but definitely we can learn from the lessons that others learn without having to do it ourselves.
In fact, we can learn from the experiences of others by reading the Bible as it tells us about the fate of the unsaved and the consequences of their living their lives with disregard to God and how foolish it is to die without Christ because the Bible clearly tells us what will happen to those that are lost if they die without Christ. So we don’t have to jump into the garbage can and start munching away to find out that we don’t like to eat garbage.
We can learn without ever doing that and I hope that that’s the point here. Thanks a lot Brad for calling in and we’re now going to go to Todd in Tampa, Florida, calls in and says we’re in the Bible to say that we’re not to associate, hang out or even marry an unbeliever. Well, there are a number of passages where it talks about us not being unequally yoked with an unbeliever. Clinton-Crimpton 6 is a classic passage where it says, What Fellowship?
Can you have with an unbeliever? This is a 2 Corinthians 6 verse 14. Fellowship means to have things in common with. Be not unequally yoked together with unbelievers for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness and what communion hath light with darkness and what concord hath priced with belile and what part hath he that believeth with an infidel. who does not believe. So that’s a great passage. This whole section here, Section Corinthians verses chapter 6 verse 14 through 17 ought to really help you.
And thanks for that call. So it doesn’t mean you can’t have any dealings with unsaved. Otherwise the Bible says in first Corinthians you’d have to leave the planet. But to have things in common with that, to be hanging out with and to have so-called fellowship with an unbeliever is some of you not to do. Don’t drag you down. You need to be raising them up. You need to lead them to Christ. We’ve got to go to break. It’s that time again.
So keep your video dial tuned right here. We’ll come back in a minute and do Bible in Part 2, so don’t change that now. Don’t go away. Bibleline will be back in a moment. Give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. I’m Dr. A.E.K. Lindstrom and it’s great to be with you today. We’re coming to you from Tampa, Florida, from our studios at the Calvary Community Church, We look forward to being with you each and every day Monday through Friday and on the Internet 24 hours a day, seven days a week from anywhere on the planet Earth.
You’re so welcome to join us every day and join us on the Internet as well. And now you’ll be able to join my morning worship service as we webcast the service beginning this Sunday at 10.30. You might want to start looking there on your Internet. If you go to the Me, my home page, clicked up in the upper right-hand corner of the spinning globe, and I believe there you’ll find a page should come up sometime later this week as we turn the switch on this thing.
You’ll be able to see a page that says Calvary Community Church Worship Service, and you’ll be able to see live from the pulpit, the Calvary Community Church Worship Service. And you’re most welcome to join us also. We want you to know that you can join my classes. We’re teaching a class right now called meeting the challenge. And you can sign up and pay your application fee and watch these classes and take them on the internet. But if you would like, you can also order the CDs when I finish the series.
And you can, in a sense, be in a classroom with the high quality definition sound of the CDs. We also have many I’ve done in the past, the book of Revelation, the book of Daniel, the book of Jude, the book of Romans, the book of Hebrews, and many others by subject like the Holy Spirit, the Rapture, parables, how it leads souls to Christ, and many, many more. So if that interests you, call our operators and they’ll be glad to tell you how you can, you can, how you can, one of these CD series and use them at home to learn and to study.
Again, we’re listeners supported. If you would consider praying for us, we’d be grateful we believe God answers prayer. And if you would be willing to be a partner and help financially support us, that would assure that we were able to continue to bring these programs to you. It is expensive and I don’t get paid, our staff doesn’t get paid, we don’t have any people underwriting us, we just simply trust God and so far he’s been supplying through the gifts of those who listen.
And maybe you’d like to step up and help us and be a partner. We’d appreciate it and I want to thank you in advance and all you have to do is call and you can give a gift by credit card over the phone or you can call and get us to send you an envelope with our address printed on it. We’re going to do Bibleline Part 2. We’re going to rejoin the stations that have been on break. If your station doesn’t care in the second half, go to the internet.
You’ll hear the full program. But here we are, Part 2. Would you like to call Bibleline and ask Dr. Lynch from a question? You can. Just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Now here again is Dr. Hank Lynch from… Alright, we’re back from that break. This is my line. We’re coming to you From Tampa, from our studios at the Calvary Community Church. We’re excited about how our worship service will be on the internet this weekend at 10.30.
Our worship service begins. You can go to that homepage and click up in the upper right-hand corner where all those are radio or television and everything can be found. You’ll get a page that says Calvary Community Church worship service. You’ll get to see the men. message delivered from Calvary Community Church on Sunday morning. We’re excited about that and I hope it is a blessing to you and it will drop into our archive and I think you’ll be able to watch it throughout the week.
We’re all brand new. We’ve been practicing here getting ready for this and we hope that it’ll turn out well for you and be a blessing to you that are listing in many different parts of the world or in the country. Right now Now we’re streaming to the Internet, our radio program, and we had in July 13,045 listeners to the radio program on the Internet. We believe that has grown, but we haven’t got the recent stats, but we are excited about how we’re able to reach out not only on many broadcast stations, but also on the Internet to a large Internet audience of people listening to Bible Island.
We had that caller earlier from California, listening out there to the program on the internet. And so we have our television programs and our radio programs streaming, and now we’ll do the worship service beginning this Sunday. By the way, tonight we have classes. If you’re in the Tampa Bay area, you might want to drive over to the Tampa airport and on the west side you’ll find this on George Road at 4811. You’re welcome to come in on these classes at 7 o’clock.
It’s from 7 till 9, and we’ve got four weeks to go, including tonight. After tonight, three more weeks. We’re going to do class three and class four tonight. Next week, we’ll do class five and class six and so on. And on the fifth week, we’ll do class nine and 10. There’ll be 10 hours of teaching on this exciting class. It will really, I think, lift you up and raise you to the next level called meeting the challenge a broad spectrum class covering all parts of the Bible about the challenge that God leaves with us here on this earth and what that challenge is, how to meet that challenge, what if we meet the challenge, what if we don’t meet the challenge, and how to meet that challenge successfully.
And I think you’ll really enjoy this series of classes. So come on out tonight. Again we certainly need our listeners to partner with us, to pull this project off. The fact that my mind is out there is a wonderful miracle and the reason why we’re out there is because we have had supporters, people that are listeners who help us because otherwise we just couldn’t pull it off. My church could not possibly pay the radio and television bills. We just don’t have it.
and the listeners are the ones that really have kept us going and it’s a miracle. It really is. And should the listeners not support us, we would be off the air in a heartbeat. So it’s really something where we have a very real connection, a real partnership with those who listen to us. And you know, we’re not trying to get your money. I like that verse in Philippians 4 17 where Paul says to the Philippian believers at Philippi, he says, not that I desire a gift.
He’s saying I’m not trying to get your money, but I desire a fruit that may have bound your account. What a wonderful concept. In other words, whatever fruit that Paul accrued in his ministry would be also counted to the account of those who gave the Paul. The same thing is true here of Bible on whatever fruit that is won through this ministry and I believe we’re really effective for God As we hear so many wonderful comments from people that your gifts to Bible on Whatever fruit we have is going to be on your account when you get to heaven.
I think that’s a Wow, what a I wish I was living in the time of Paul could just funnel all my gifts to the Apostle Paul’s ministry and have the fruit that he won. Wow, accounting on my account. I think, wow, I’d be a blessed person. So in any case, you can give the Bible and you’ll be, I think, sharing the rewards of Bible and as you partner with us. That’s a wonderful concept. Read Philippians 4 17 and pray about being a prayer partner and a financial partner of Bible and helping us continue.
You can do it by giving a gift over the phone or you can call our operators and they’ll be glad to send you an envelope with our address on it or recite the address to you. We have Nick in Clearwater here on the line and we’re going to go right now to Nick and the number by the way is 1-800-576-3771. Nick, welcome to BIPON. How are you doing? Good. My question is about churches. I guess about eight months ago I accepted that Christ died on the cross for my sins.
I’ve been listening on the radio constantly and that’s where I’ve been feeding off of and reading the Bible. Everywhere I read and everywhere I search and I’ve been trying different churches out, I get the feeling of I guess something’s just not flowing right for me. And there’s a lot of, I don’t know, everywhere I read, it seems like it says, you know, I you know I see Jesus and Matthew 6 where I pray to God and when I go into some of the churches it some of them seem like giant rock concerts and everybody’s praying.
Well I think you’re on the right track. I think you’re on the right track but the problem is that churches are departing from that. we’re no longer seeing churches really do. You know, when I look at the book of Acts and I say, what made the New Testament Church effective and powerful? You read right there in Acts chapter 2 and verse 42 that the early believers continued steadfastly, number one it says in the Word of God, in the Apostles doctrine.
And that was the teaching, the coming together to learn the Bible was the first and primary purpose of the early church. That’s why they were dynamic. And that’s why they turned the world of that day upside down. Today the Bible is given just minimum lip service in the services. And you go away like you say with all kinds of other things, entertainment type, things to keep you just occupied, but they’ve missed the focus I think of the word. And so you’re on the right track.
It is very difficult to find a church today that has stayed with the program that the New Testament record lays out for us. It prays in people? Well, exactly. That’s what really prayer is. But there is times when you pray in public or can pray in public or a group prayer meeting. Certainly in the book of Acts chapter 12 you have there when Peter was put in jail for preaching the gospel, the believers met in a person’s home and they prayed for Peter’s release.
Then Peter miraculously was released and he comes and the gate is locked and he’s knocking. When they were told by a young girl who went out there that Peter was there in front of the gate, she forgot to unlock the gate for him too by the way. She tells them that there’s Peter out there and they didn’t believe it. Here there are people praying and their prayers answered. don’t even believe it. It’s kind of a humor story to me that the same thing happens today nowadays people pray but do they really believe that God is going to answer that prayer and obviously it shows the humanness there of sometimes we pray but do we really believe.
I like a dozen churches in the Bay Area and when I talk to people about this they look at me like well what do you mean this is this is part of it and i’m not leaving there with anything that came for it i’m trying to stay focused on what i’m looking for and that’s just straight up teaching can you recommend something in the bay area that’s more of a bible teaching without the like giving you an rock concert scene the hard to find but i think first course you can come over and visit us we’re not too far away and then check us out.
But, and maybe we’ll give you some tips when you get here to find something closer to you. But it’s difficult. I remember as a brand new believer, because I got saved in a Bible study for teens. I was 18. And I was really saying, I don’t want to slip back into what I came out of, which was, my church had turned me off and I was ready to go off to college and just say, church has ended for my life.
And then I got saved. So I began to read and I read the book of Acts and I said my goodness, this is what the church ought to be. I saw it clearly and I said I just have difficulty finding a church like that and that was even when I was 18 and then said it’s even worse today. It’s hard to find good Bible believing sound churches and you just have to go on the hunt. Okay, where is your church?
We’re right by the airport here in Tampa. We’re right on the west side. So if you’re coming over in Clearwater, people get off at the airport exit and then they follow the signs that say, Air Cargo, and they just slide you’re on the west side and we’re just a block west of the Veterans Expressway on George Road between Memorial and Hillsborough. So we’re easy to find. We’d love to have you come. We have classes tonight if you want to come over and sit in those and See what it’s like.
What’s the name of it? Calvary Community Church. Calvary Community Church. Hey, I think we’re with time tonight. Seven. Seven o’clock. I think I’ll be there. Alright. Well, thank you. Maybe I’ll see you. Good. Alright, I was Nick and Clare. Well, you know, it’s really tough and that’s why we decided to stream our worship service to the internet because so many people were telling us they can’t. find good, solid, Bible teaching anymore in their churches. One little lady called me and told me that she just had to quit attending because she couldn’t take the loud music like he mentioned.
It was like a rock concert. She said it affected her heartbeat and that she had to avoid all the music because she couldn’t handle it and affected her health. she got inside, she just didn’t hear the word of God expounded upon anymore and that’s becoming a rarity. Anyway, we have Louie in Sarasota, Florida and Louie, welcome to Bibleline. I knew you were on the air. Yes, this is Louie. Yes, sir. Yes, I have a question about Roman Catholics. They took a commandment out of two commandments into one.
I can’t remember what it was. Well, in the catechism, they’ve taken the 10 commandments and they’ve taken the commandment. The commandment about not making graven images or idols and dropped it and they took the tenth commandment, they also not covet and broke it into two commandments. So they give you ten commandments but they are not the ten that you read about in your Bible. If you go to Exodus chapter 20 you will see the ten commandments as God gave them but they take that tenth one and make two out of it and then they drop the one about idols because obviously they’re guilty of that but that’s that’s obviously something they did deliberately because that just doesn’t happen by accident so it’s a I think a deliberate deception really not upon me but upon the Roman Catholic congregation or or congregants they are there being misled by their own church by just not
telling him the truth about the Ten Commandments and I think that’s a big lie that the Catholic Church tells one of them. So I hope that helps a little bit. We have a book here called Understanding Roman Catholicism. It takes the Roman Catholic Catechism, which is pretty dry reading, and examines 37 doctors, pulls out the quotes that define each of those 37 doctors as taught by the Roman Catholic Church, and then gives you scripture so you can contrast what they’re teaching as versus the Bible.
It’s pretty enlightening and it’s only for a gift of $12 and we can We can ship it out, but that’s a good one to have in your library. I greatly appreciate it. I have a dant that’s a nun in the way Minister of Roman Catholic, Uncle, just trying to tell him why I got baptized the other day and they don’t understand. I know they don’t. You’re gonna have to just. just in love bring them up to speed and a lot of them they just have bought into whatever they’ve heard and they really don’t know that what their church is teaching doesn’t always line up with the Bible and so you have to slowly just say Look at this passage and would you tell me what this passage means in the light of what you Practice which many times is the opposite of what the Bible teaches and sometimes it causes them to wake up a little bit and say
Whoa? Yeah, the Bible doesn’t teach what we’re practicing and and it helps to open the door to get them saved Okay, we’ll pray for you. All right. Thank you very much That’s tough sometimes to try to win people that have been in a religious system all their life. And they don’t realize that their system is not really biblical. And that creates a big problem. We have a barrel or a barrel in Tampa calling in off air. He says, some people say that you must be baptized in Jesus’ name.
People that do this as a religion are they a cult. I don’t know which group you’re talking about because there’s a cult really denies numerous basic doctrines. But certainly in the New Testament we find He said, baptism is the name of Christ. In Matthew 28 when Christ instituted baptism, he said, baptism is the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. What is interesting is that he says in the name singular of the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit, showing that the Father is God and Jesus is God and the Holy Spirit is God.
They all have the same name. They are all Yahweh or Jehovah as there is one God who is eternally existing as three separate eternal persons, God the eternal Father, God the eternal Son and God the eternal Holy Spirit. I need more information to be able to answer your question there, but I don’t think it really matters whether you say, I baptize you in the name of Jesus or if I say, I baptize you in the name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit.
I really personally don’t feel like it makes a whole lot of difference. We have Jimmy up in Chesterfield, Virginia and welcome to Bibleline Jimmy. Yes, Dr. Hank, in 11th and 1st Corinthians 11th, 6th, you know, about a woman’s color of her head. Could you explain that and they got back to Sean and you know, okay. Okay first grade in chapter 11, you know in Corinth, and I’ve been there numerous times The prostitutes were known because they shorn their hair or they kind of all off So if you saw a woman with real short hair you knew she was a prostitute And in fact actually in the sidewalks here they have a little footprints it all you have to do is follow those footprints and lead you to the brothels where the prostitutes were and the woman her hair was her covering and it talked about her womanly role.
Apparently, God made a difference between men and women and one that had to be shown by men wearing short hair and women having longer hair. And so the Bible says that the woman’s hair is a glory to her and her hair should be long in contrast with men and it was a way of showing her respect to God and also her womanliness. In verse 14 it says, does not even nature itself teach you that if a man have long hair it is a shame to him and yet the next verse goes right on the side that a long hair on a woman is her glory and is her covering.
So hopefully that helps a little bit, Jimmy. And you can read the passage carefully, but it’s confusing sometimes today when you see men with long hair. And I know I’ve stood in line in a fast food place where the person in front of me, I thought, was a female and all of a sudden he turned around and saw the sideburns as well. Anyway, but that long hair gets you mixed up in your head and on a man, that is.
men are to be men. If you note in the time of Christ, and in the time when even Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians, the Romans were in charge of the world and the hairstyle, if you look at all the statues, the Roman Caesar, in fact, set the hairstyle and the clothing style, he had that short Caesar cut. It was off the ears, off the neck, combed forward and short little bangs in the front, and he had that cute little wreath he’d wear on His head and that was the popular cut.
Those days the men had short hair off the ear and off the neck. The women of course had longer hair and that’s what is talking about in 1 Corinthians 11. You can look it up for yourself. We have Mary in Clearwater and she lives in Clearwater and wants to know if the Church of Scientology is a cult. Very definitely. They don’t believe the Bible to be the Word of God. They don’t believe in Christ. They don’t believe in heaven or hell.
They are definitely cult and use brainwashing techniques and I would stay far from them. Don’t buy into that at all. Started by Ron Hubbard, a mystery guy who apparently is dead now, but it’s I think a dangerous group. I would not allow them to get into your head at all. So I would stay away from them. They are not Christian involved, not even close to Christianity, and definitely not very scientific, although they like that name or Scientology, which has seemingly a reference to science.
They are not scientific. They have some very crazy ideas. I would say a way. Thank you Mary for calling and hopefully it helps and you live right in the hot pit of Scientology. That’s for sure. Scott in Venice Florida calls in and so they just murdered a little girl locally. The question is, is wanting to do harm to a murder sinful? And sometimes we’d like to take and strangle somebody like that that would cost a little girl and take her life.
I think that is certainly natural, but the Bible of course says that we need to let the government meet out the punishment upon that murderer. Obviously, if we have any information that leads to identifying that murder, we ought to turn them in and let the law judge them. Hopefully, they would give them a severe penalty. If you took the girl’s life, I believe the ought to suffer the death penalty. The Bible certainly teaches capital punishment beginning all the way back in Genesis Chapter 9 you see God saying if someone should take another man’s life then Man should take his life and is talking about government and when the Person has bought before the judges and their witnesses and they’re found guilty and then they are to be taken We have Albert calling in from Richmond, Virginia, and he asks a question about Hebrews 1039.
It’s a wonderful eternal security verse, I believe. The writer of Hebrews was obviously saved. And he says that we are not of them that which draw back into perdition. And of course, the perdition is hell. So in other words, even though we draw back, or backslide maybe might be the modern term, we drift away from God or his living in the Christian life, we will never wind up in hell. The verses above and then the 12th chapter of Hebrews talks about God’s discipline or chasing upon the Christian who draws back or draws away from the Lord.
But he says we are of the group that believe to the saving of the soul. In other words, once you believe on Christ you are saved forever and the chapter here is encouraging those who have drawn back or slipped back to get back on target and realize that there is reward. Verse 35 of Hebrews 10 says, test not away therefore your confidence which hath great recompense of reward. God is going to reward you as you live confidently for Christ knowing that His promise is going are true and living every day to please him and to share the gospel with those that are lost.
So Albert, Hebrews 1039, really basically says you can’t lose your salvation. We are not of them that draw back into perdition. If you’re a believer, you’ll never go to hell, but you’re of that group that have believed to the saving of the soul. John 639 is one of my favorites where Christ said it is the will of God that he would not lose one person that had come to him. In other words, he keeps you saved. You’re not keeping yourself saved.
And Christ, according to that verse, tells us that it’s the Father’s will that he would not lose one person who has ever come to him. So if one person in all history were ever lost after they became safe, Christ would be a liar. Write that one down. That’s a good verse, John 6, 37 and 39. 37 says that he would in no wise cast you out. In verse 39 he says, it’s the Father’s will that he would not lose anyone that has come to him.
If you have not trusted Christ, you need to do that. Just tell the Lord, Lord, I am a sinner. We all are, but I trust Jesus Christ right now as my Savior, as my only hope of heaven and God will save you. Then make that second decision to live for Christ.
