Bibleline Radio Show – 2007-04-26 – Who is a Jew?

The Jews need to hear and to believe the same gospel that we believe in order to be saved. “For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth: to the Jew first, and also to the Greek (Romans 1:16).” Percentage wise, there are probably more Jews that have accepted Jesus as their Messiah than there are Gentile believers, but there are still many that are lost and need to hear about Christ.

It’s not new but new to our resource center called Nineteen Gifts of the Spirit. If you are curious about the gifts of the Spirit, this is a wonderful one.

We have the Holy Spirit, a wonderful book by Charles Ryrie, that will really answer many questions about the Holy Spirit. I have also a 12-hour teaching on CD, 12 CDs on the Holy Spirit, which would really be powerful and dealing with the gifts and the Holy Spirit and His ministry in this age and how the Holy Spirit operated in ages past. We also have a CD series on the Book of Revelation, the Book of Daniel, and if you’re interested in prophecy, these These are very powerful.

If you are curious about some of the great books of the New Testament, we have a series of 10 hours of teaching on the book of Romans, 10 hours of teaching on the book of Jude, 10 hours of teaching on the book of Hebrews. Hebrews causes a lot of people grief. it. Confused and we deal with all of the complicated problems of the book of Hebrews and you can get those 10 CDs on Hebrews and have Hebrews all of a sudden.

I think come alive for you and you’ll understand what’s going on and be able to resolve the difficult problems. You know there are very few commentaries out there. If you look for a commentary on Hebrews, most writers don’t write on it because they can’t figure it out either. It’s a difficult book and this series will really just make Hebrews alive for you. So it’s a great series to get and of course if you like prophecy, the most popular one we have I believe is the series on the book of Revelation.

But we also have series by title or subject. We have Jesus is coming. We just finished. That’s available on CD and DVD. We have 10 vital doctrines, which was a good one covering the major doctrines of the Bible that every Christian ought to be familiar with. And then we also did Meeting the challenge, which was really a great one to challenge you and every Christian to live for Christ and what the Bible says that we are challenged with and how to meet that challenge.

It’s a great series, again, available on CDN DVD and the DVD is not a lot more. It’s just a little bit more and you can watch as well as hear these programs. A lot of people like to get my Sunday messages and those are available. you subscribe, $30 a month, you’ll have them sent to your home whether it’s a four week Sunday or five week Sunday. You can get all of the Sunday messages. And nowadays we also have them available on DVD if you’d prefer.

You can actually get the Sunday messages on DVD or CD. Just call our 800 number. Our operators will be glad to help you. If you haven’t helped by the line this month, we would love to have you get in on DVD. on April and help us to be able to carry these programs out there to you and to others. We’re excited about going to Africa on shortwave. We’ll reach the whole continent of Africa and with the light of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

We certainly appreciate your prayers and look forward to your partnership and your support of Bibleline. It keeps us going. I believe today we will go right to the questions because so many offer questions and you can call in and also ask a live on the air question if you like the numbers 1-800-576-3771. We have dated in Crystal River Florida. He calls in and says will there be a resurrection and rapture of all the Jews and the answer is no.

The Jews don’t have a free ticket to heaven just because they are Jewish. They have a wonderful heritage and they have given us the Bible. Truly we are blessed to have this Bible, the Scriptures, the Word of God, which was given to us by Jewish prophets. The New Testament also given to us by Jewish apostles. So it’s really, in a sense, a Jewish book. Definitely we owe a debt granted to the Jews. Our Savior took on Jewish flesh. He came out of the tribe of Judah and was of the lineage of David, King David, and all of us is very, very Jewish, but they need to trust Christ, as Jesus Himself said, I am the way, the truth and the life, and no man cometh unto the Father but by me.

John 14-6, Jesus said that He is the only way to heaven. He is God who took on Jewish flesh. Our Savior was Jewish. God who took on flesh. Peter was a Jew. Peter said neither is their salvation in any other, for there is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved. Isn’t that wonderful? Did you know that Peter was a Jew? It’s amazing. I think that the Roman Catholic Church has forgotten that because they are pretty much anti-Semitic and yet they’re so what they believe that Peter was the first pope which I don’t believe was Jewish.

So it’s interesting if they would only recognize and they seem to like Mary a lot and she was a Jewish mother. So it’s amazing how we have this Jewish heritage and yet sometimes mentally I guess some people just divorce themselves from the fact that we have a Jewish savior. was a Jew, Peter was a Jew, the old disciples were Jews, it’s interesting. We’re gonna go to some of the live lines now we have Shirley in Pensacola, Florida and Shirley welcome to Bibleline you are on the air.

Good morning, Pastor Hank. Good morning. Yeah, I have a comment and a question. Go for it. Okay? First of all, I thank God for I enjoy yourself so so tremendously because I have lots of questions and I find that listening to you I’m comfortable with your answers, so I thank God for you for that. I hope that one day that I’m able to go to can’t be in church with you. I would love to have you do that Shirley.

Okay now for my question um I know that there’s um crowns that we received reward for. Yes. Could you list them please and and tell me the uh and define the meanings of those crown and I’m gonna listen to you okay. Okay Shirley I’m gonna do that. I’ll ask you so much. Thank you Shirley in Pensacola Florida and uh The answer to that question is there are five crowns that believers can earn. Salvation is a gift and we cannot work our way to heaven, but we can earn rewards in heaven.

And some of those rewards include five different crowns that a Christian can earn. If you go to my internet site, you can go to Dr. Lynch from articles and I have an article that I’ve written called Getting Your Crown, which names these five crowns and what you can do to earn them. The first crown is the soul winner’s crown, 1 Thessalonians 2 19 and 20. 1 Thessalonians chapter 2 verse 19 and 20 talks about the crown of glory given to those that lead someone to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

So if you lead someone to Christ, you got a crown. Surely the next crown is the sufferers crown. And that is described in James chapter 1 verse 12, also Revelation 2 verse 10. James chapter 1 verse 12 says, Blessed are happy of those who endure testings and our trials. And they will receive the crown of life. The crown of life is called the martyr’s crown or the sufferer’s crown. If you suffer for Jesus or are martyred for Jesus, you’ll receive that crown of life.

James 1 12 Revelation 2 10. There’s also a crown for keeping yourself morally pure. 1 Corinthians chapter 9 verse 27 talks about the crown incorruptible. It describes the Olympic games and how those who trained for the Olympic games were disciplined. They got their exercise. They ate the right kind of food. They got their rest and they trained faithfully to be able to win. When I like Erwin Lutzer’s radio program out of Chicago, he’s the pastor of the Moody Memorial Church in Chicago, he called his program Running to Win.

And it’s on that very theme. If you run to win the Christian race, not to be saved, but because you are saved, you can receive this crown at the end of the race when you meet the Lord in heaven called the crown incorruptible. There’s also the teacher’s crown. In 1 Peter 5’4″, talks about the crown of glory given to those who teach others the word. If you teach your family, you teach a Sunday school class, you open the Bible and teach others, you’ll get that crown.

I’ll never forget as a young believer, a teenager, just getting saved. Nothing was happening in our family and I decided somebody has to do something. And so at the dinner table one night with my mom, my dad, my two sisters, and my other brothers sitting at the table, I announced to the family, I said after dinner, I’m going to have a Bible study in the living room, you’re all welcome to come. Well, I didn’t know what I was going to get, but you know, all of them after dinner came into the living room and sat there, I guess, more out of curiosity than anything else to hear what I had to say.

But I just felt compelled that somebody has to do something. The Word of God needs to be taught. Our family needed to know more about the Lord. And so I began my first Bible study right in our living room. And my first students were my mom and my dad and my two sisters and my brother. I’ll never forget it. And I’m so glad I chose to do that. And obviously the Lord has had me teaching God’s word ever since.

The last crown, surely, is in 2 Timothy, chapter 4, verse 8, where those who look for Christ’s return and live their lives in expectancy of Christ’s return will receive the crown of righteousness. Should I tell Hank Hennigraph about this? He obviously doesn’t believe in the rapture and the coming of Christ to give it these rewards, so that’s unfortunate. But Christ is coming, and that whole chapter talks about His coming that we’re waiting for that coming and that we’re expecting that coming.

And when He comes, Christ, who is the righteous judge, will give the crown of righteousness to those who are loving His appearance and looking forward to His appearance. and that is an exciting day ahead for every one of us as believers and that events the Rapture by the way and of course that’s the fifth crown so there you go Shirley hope that helps and again if you have internet access you can get all of these and print them out on your computer we now have David in Largo Florida and David welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air yes Dr.

Lindstrom I I have a friend who is a Christian counselor and is really into the message Bible where you really can’t look up the verses and so forth. And she had asked me, how many people have you actually led to the Lord? And I said, well, do you mean just by telling somebody about Jesus and not really explaining what it means to be saved and then then doubting later, is that really being considered saved or actually taking them to the verses and showing that you can’t add one work to salvation to be saved.

Well, you know, the message Bible is terrible. It’s a paraphrase. And also, it actually changes meanings in numerous places. And I think it’s disrespectful. The Lord’s Prayer, as I read it in the message Bible, I think is when it talks about thank you for the three squares we get every day, I think that’s a little bit disrespectful. You know that prayer is a prayer of respect, our Father, which are in heaven, hallowed be thy name. How can we approach God in that way?

I just don’t like that Bible at all. But obviously the Scriptures are God’s Word and these paraphrases. I really believe are like a commentary and you can use them if you accept them as a commentary. But if you have a true translation, it is actually a word for word rendering of the original word into the word in the language of the reader and in our case English, and it should be word for word. The paraphrases allow a tremendous amount of freedom where the writer of the paraphrase can express the thought however he wishes and many times they really go astray.

I find the message probably really does that. In Luke, rather in Matthew chapter 7, in a passage which talks about that there will be those who will boast and brag about their works and Christ will say I never do you. They just totally change that meaning around to the very opposite of what the passage is talking about and numerous others I think just water down or change the meaning and it’s not the same. And so I reject it myself.

Well I guess my question is just telling somebody about Jesus and ask them to be saved and them going away and then going that very day doubting if they’re saved or not. Is that being saved? No, no, no, no. In fact, you have to present the gospel. The gospel is the message of the death, the burial, the resurrection of Christ. A person must recognize that our salvation is based upon Christ’s substitutionary death, that he died and shed his blood in order to pay for our sins was then buried and rose again from the dead.

The first Corinthians 15 defines it that way and in Romans 1 16 Paul says I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ. For it the gospel is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth. That means to believe that gospel message and trust that Christ did indeed die from their sins and pay for them. Just ask Jesus to be saved or to just say Christ save me or whatever. It is not going to save you. You have to trust in his death from resurrection.

I believe it’s a gift and you can’t earn it. It’s given to you and that’s it. Well I think we’re on the same page and I think a lot of what is called Christianity bypasses the cross and is not really grounding people in the Scriptures. In other words, I know I’m saved not because somebody told me so. I know I’m saved because God told me so in the Bible and,. I love that first John 513 verse where God says I’ve written this to you that believe on the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life.

So if God tells me, then I know and that’s how I know. Thank you. You’re welcome. Thank you, David. And David is in Largo, Florida. And thank you for that call. We have John in Seminole, Florida. And John, welcome to Bibleline. You’re on the air. God bless you. This is David. You’re old buddy. I can’t believe it David. Well, I thought you were John, but I’m glad to hear from you. A lot of people have asked about you and they said, what has ever happened to David?

And I haven’t heard from you for a couple of years, I guess. No, it’s more like five years, Dr. I think. Wow. I want to tell you it’s vanity, but I wanted to I think the Lord may allow me to tell you. I’m I remember you coming over and visiting the church and you had no hair, so I wouldn’t recognize you then. Well, we know each other, so there’s something everybody knows it anyways, and you’re human like the rest of us.

But you’re the most godly, well, let’s put this away, the best Bible teacher I’ve ever I heard in my life. In the category of Dr. J. Vernon McGee, remember him through the Bible radio. I mean, are you blowing me away how God has blessed you? And that’s not just a compliment, it’s a fact. Excuse me, it’s a fact. Well, David, I owe you for this. So you, I didn’t know that. I didn’t set you up to do this. Thank you for the compliment.

Sorry, but it’s the truth. Anybody that knows you. Well, you’re kind. But it’s the truth though. I might be kind but it’s also a fact. Well I’m so glad you reappeared and yesterday Harold reappeared on our radio show from South Florida, our Jewish atheist and here you come out of the woodwork and reappear today. And that’s wonderful to hear from you and I’m glad you’re doing okay and I’m glad you’ve got hair. So much. Please introduce yourself when you come so I don’t know who you are.

Okay. Jesus wants you. We all do. Amen. Thank you David. That was David in Largo, Florida. I hadn’t heard from him in five years. That’s amazing. Here we have Tim in Tampa, Forta calls in, leaves an offer question, he says, is it okay to associate with a gay friend and how do I witness to somebody who’s gay? Well, obviously we are not to have our intimate friendships with people that are violating God’s Word if that’s a practicing gay, but certainly we need to be friend people that are lost.

We can’t leave the planet and we need to win people to Christ, which means we need to be friend them, and the way you witness to somebody who is gay is the same way you would witness to anyone else in love, tell them the truth. That there is only one way to heaven, that is Jesus Christ, and the only way to be saved is to place their trust in Jesus Christ that he died, shed his blood, paid their sin debt and full was buried and rose again from the dead.

If they trust the Lord, they are going to be saved, whether gay or whether straight. But then if they get saved to be obedient to the Lord, they need to abstain from any illicit relationships that are contrary to God’s word, so they need to become celibate. So definitely a believer should witness to everyone. The Bible says that everyone has been loved by the Lord for God so loved the world. means all of mankind. Christ died for every man. Hebrews chapter 3 verse 9 tells us he tasted death for every man.

That’s chapter 2 verse 9. And we find that God wants everyone to be saved. 2 Peter chapter 3 verse 9. So when you talk to a person who’s gay, just tell them that God loves them. He doesn’t condone their sexual activity and they really ought to abstain from that as a believer. But if they become a believer, they will be saved, they will go to heaven. Tim, I hope that helps. I’ve led the number of gay folks to Christ.

They felt greatly relieved of this terrible guilt that they oftentimes have because they know they’re violating Scripture and they’re doing something that’s contrary to nature or what is natural. We have here anonymous and we don’t even know the city on this one but this came in through the internet and is asking is giving a donation to a church that does not have sound doctrine in exchange for business acceptable. Well we’re not to really endorse or bid any organization Godspeed that has false doctrine so you’re going to have to make that call but if If you’re obviously earning your living at, you can barter, I guess.

But again, I really try to avoid interactions with those who have false doctrine. I don’t want to approve of them or give credibility to them. And if you do, the Bible says you become partaker of their evil deeds. Second John, read verse 11 and pray about that. But I believe that you probably ought not to. We have Jeff in New Hampshire. He says, does cremation affect your resurrection? The answer is no. If you are a believer, whether you’re cremated, whether you’re killed in an explosion and your body parts are blown everywhere, or whether you buy a die in a house fire and your body is obviously cremated without your wanting it to happen that way, it’s still be given the resurrection body will still be fine as far as going to heaven.

So I wouldn’t lose any sleep over that. Cremation is now done because of the tremendous costs associated with burial. And so you might find that most people or a lot of people are doing it today, but it does not affect what happens to you after you die. The body that we live in now is going to return to act to dust anyway. And we’re going to get brand new bodies. The Bible is very clear about that. And if you’ve trusted Christ, you’re going to be with the Lord.

While the program just goes so quickly, we’re going to do the second half of Bible and just a moment. If you haven’t helped Bible and for the month of April, would you consider giving a gift? We really are dependent upon you, our listeners, to be able to continue this program in your area and also to expand out to other places and bring this gospel message to the world. And we do thank you in advance. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Call in and you can give it by credit card over the phone or call in. We’ll send you an envelope with our address already printed on it. In any case, before April is over, would you give a gift to Bible? We would say thank you and praise the Lord for His faithfulness in supplying through you. We are going to go to break. We will be right back for a second half hour sates. So stay tuned. Don’t go away. I will be right back.

Don’t go away. Bibleline will be back in a moment. Give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. That is 1-800-576-3771. I am Dr. Englund. I’m Dr. Englister and this is Bible and it’s wonderful to be with you and I want to thank you all who make it possible by your gifts and prayers for Bible and really without your help we could not be on the air. That is a fact. We don’t have a reserve account, we don’t have a piggy bank, we don’t have subscribers, we don’t have pledges.

We just trust God and wonderfully God is supplied through the gifts of His people who believe that Bible is worthy of continuing and that you would like to be a part of that. We thank God for every one of you. Thank you, thank you, thank you for being partners with us and enabling us to get this message out. And you know, I, in a sense, am your voice and hopefully I am voicing what you would like to see presented that is straight answers from the Bible to tell what God has to say say it without apology.

God’s Word does not have to be apologized for and we don’t have to cower and be afraid. We can boldly say, thus say of the Lord. The Bible is God’s Word. Would you help us? We would love to have your help and you can send a gift by mail or you can give it by credit card over the phone. Just call our operators. They’ll be glad to help you and tell you how you can pull that all off and we would thank you very We also have lots of things that will be helpful to you in our Resource Center.

We have our Sunday messages available on CD and now available also on DVD. We also have teaching series about 40 of them, 10 to 12 hours of teaching that you can order on CD. And some of the more recent ones in the past year or two are now available also on DVD. If you order it, it will help you in your growth and also help maybe facilitate a Bible study in your home or in a Sunday school class or in a business situation during lunch or so on.

A lot of people are using these series very creatively. Plus we have the Scofield Bible which is I think the Bible as far as really giving sound doctrine and I’m talking about the old Scofield is getting more difficult to get every day. It seems like the devil is really taking away some of the good great tools of the past They’re not being reprinted and that is so sad. It really is in any case We have them you could call here at our 800 number and our resource center will respond We’ll send you a resource sheet you can go online and see them all on the website and that’s Bibleline ministries not org you can also give on our secure website by credit card or do it over the phone with us.

We’re going to do the second half hour Bible and so keep your radio tuned right where it is and join us for a second half hour if your station doesn’t carry it go on the internet and get the second half hour on the internet. Gotta Uh, introduce the second half. Would you like to call Bibleline and ask Dr. Lindstrom a question? You can. Just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3771. Now here again is Dr. Hank Lindstrom. Alright, we’re back from that break and this is Bibleline and we’re coming to you from Tampa, Florida.

from our studios right here at the Kalman Community Church and we’re located right next to Tampa’s International Airport. You know, I feel like sometimes we’re so close to Tampa’s airport I can reach out and slap those airplanes when they fly in. That’s right. I’m just trying to say we’re real close. If you get further away from the airport, the airport, then about a block, then you can know your your lost. You’re heading the wrong way. We’re on the west side of the airport and the main road that What borders the airport on the west, running north and south, is Eisenhower Boulevard, it’s the beginning of the Veterans Expressway, and the next street over parallel to it, running north and south, is George Road.

We’re directly west of the control tower, directly west of the main north south runway at Tampa International Airport. So we’re easy to find, we’d love to have you come see us. If you fly into town or drive into town, please come by and knock on our door and say hi, you’re welcome to come on a worship band. By the way, this Sunday would be a great Sunday to come by. It’s the fifth Sunday and we’ve added an extra dinner.

So if you come, you can be my guest. Come at 10.30 and join our worship service and stay for the lunch dinner. It’ll be a wonderful chicken dinner with all kinds of trimmons and other things to eat along with that. And also, you can come in and make it a day if you want to come earlier and join my 9.15 adult class. I’d love to have you come and visit with us sometime. And of course, if you live in another city and you can’t come, you can come.

You can join us by entering that. Isn’t that wonderful? We webcast our worship service. If you are attending your own church, that’s wonderful, but you can go back and catch these worship services in our archive and there are several months sitting there waiting for you. And I hope you’ll take advantage of the fact that our worship services are available on the internet. And if you want to subscribe to those sermons, you can call in and do that. You can get them on CD or DVD whatever you would like and you can just subscribe and every month they’ll be sent to you at the end of the month.

And we hope you’ll do that. Plus we have this brand new class we’re teaching now called End Time Controversy. All about this big debate over is there a Rapture? Is there a Tribulation period? Is there an Antichrist on the scene coming up? Is there a Millennium? Is Christ coming again? has it all happened in 8070 as is being presented today. Don’t let the devil rob you of the blessed hope in return of Christ to snatch us out. I believe we’re getting close and this class will answer your questions and I think forever this fell, this false view of dominionism, replacement theology, predarism, and the many names that it goes by, but you don’t want to be deceived in these days where deception seems to be the major thing that’s going on as the Bible said that the Holy Spirit warned us that there would be

seducing spirits that would cause people to depart from the body of truth is containing God’s Word and And we’re seeing it happen today left and right where people are not soundly grounded in the Bible. The churches aren’t teaching the word and people don’t even know what they believe or why they believe it. And so they’re easily misled and swayed and that’s what the devil would like to do. Could you help us for the month of April? We’d like to have you pray for us, but if you could also give a financial gift, no gift is too small.

And we thank God for every one of you who give a small gift. But if you could give more generously and give a larger gift, that would be greatly appreciated. And in order to be on the air, we have to pay our radio stations and satellite cost and phone cost and other expenses. We don’t pay any salaries. So basically, we are very efficient as far as the spending of those funds that come in. But we’re trying to get this message out.

And your help is wonderfully appreciated. You can do it by phone. by credit card or you can do it by mail. Our operators will be glad to send you and I’ll vote with our address printed on it. But I want to thank you in advance for praying for us and if you can give we want to thank you in advance for that gift because you are the means by which we’re able to continue on the air each day. We’re going to go to the Philman’s again 1-800-576-3771 and we have Adam in Tampa, Florida and Adam welcome to battle on.

Good question. Here’s an interesting semantical problem. The Greek word is pestuo, p-i-s-t-e-u-o, p-i-s-t-e-u-o, and the noun form is translated faith, and the verb form is translated belief. So people get all confused. They say, I believe it. I don’t know if I have faith. And vice versa. And actually it’s the same word in the Greek word. in the Greek. So basically it is trust. If you look up the word postuo, P-I-S-T-E-U-O, in the Greek dictionary it means to trust, to rely upon, to put your confidence in, to rest your weight upon.

And it’s just like sitting in a chair. Right now I’m sitting in a chair. I’m totally relaxed in this chair. I’m not supported by the cables to the ceiling, I’m not being held by people standing around me to make sure that I don’t crash to the floor. I’m fully and completely trusting this chair to keep me off the floor. It’s that kind of a thing. I’m resting my weight upon this chair. I’m putting my confidence in this chair, and I’m trusting this chair.

It’s the same thing with salvation. When you trust Jesus Christ as the only means of your salvation by his death and shed blood. He paid your sin debt in full. You are saved. And from that point on you can know that you are. So how do you know whether you are trusting a chair? Well, have you rested your total body weight upon it? Or are you really partially standing? Or are you holding on to some kind of rope or handle or something else or table to keep you from falling or to carry some of the weight.

When you totally rest all of your weight upon the chair of the sofa, you are trusting him. When you totally put your confidence in Jesus and rest your weight or your confidence is placed in Christ as the only means of your salvation, Adam, you have experienced it. I hope that helps, but faith and belief are the very same word. We now have Jim in St. Petersburg and Jim, welcome to the Bible on your own there. Yes, hi, Dr. Hank.

You were just talking about the difference between belief and faith. I don’t know if you’ve heard the story or not, but the difference between belief and faith is a guy standing by Niagara Falls and sees a man with a wheelbarrow on that so-called cable that goes across the falls. Yes. And he says, I believe that he can push that wheelbarrow across the falls. When he shows his faith, he gets in the wheelbarrow. There’s the difference as far as I’m concerned between faith and belief.

Okay. And of course you’re talking about mental ascent. The Greek word doesn’t really mean the mental ascent part. And that’s the problem with the English when we try to, and you did a good job, Jim. I like that illustration, that when you talk to many people and they use the word believe they mean it in the sense of acknowledgement of the historical facts of Christ. But true belief and true faith are the same thing. And they are when you actually, like you say, put your life on the line and you get yourself in that wheelbarrow and allow this tight rope walker to walk you across that thin wire across the top of the Niagara Falls where your confidence is fully in that wheelbarrow and that person that’s rolling you across.

I agree with you 100 percent, but the Greek word that we were talking about, the word for believe and the word for faith, are the same and they’re defined as trust. Thank you for your illustration, that’s a good one. I know that a lot of times we’re countering people who are thinking in terms of the English word believe, which sometimes can mean just mental ascent. The Biblical word for belief and faith are the same. It’s translated into the noun form as faith, the verb form is belief, but it always means trust.

It’s what you illustrated in an illustration that we have to trust Christ to be saved. Thank you. We have Richard in Lake City, Florida, and he says, what does atonement mean in relationship to the Old Testament are our sins still atonement today? Good one. home it means a covering and the Old Testament the believers had their sins covered. It’s kind of like when you are in a hurry, somebody calls up and unexpectedly is coming to your house. You might throw things into the closet and just slam the door closed and hide them.

Or maybe you might sweep the dirt under the carpet and then later take care of it later. But in a sense, the sins were covered swept under the carpet, put it in the closet, until finally Jesus would come and fully pay that sin net at the cross. And so the word Atonement really should not be used in New Testament days because our sins are not atoned or covered. They are forgiven. So the New Testament word is reconciliation. So we really ought to not use the word Atonement as far as salvation this side of the cross.

Salvation before the cross was sins covered until Christ could come and die for them. So they had what I call a layaway salvation. They couldn’t really fully enjoy it or claim it until after Christ had died then they fully enjoyed it. But we of course enter into that salvation immediately upon belief because it’s all been paid for and when we die we’re absent from the body present with the Lord. Richard in Lake City, Florida thank you for calling in.

We have David in St. Petersburg leaves another offer of question. says, was the baptism of the one to look for to be of fire? And of course you must be referring to John the Baptist who talked about one who would come after him, one that they were to be looking for to come the Messiah, Jesus Christ, to be of fire. And the answer is not if you are a believer. No. The baptism of fire is hell. If you read Matthew chapter 3 verses 11 and 12 it talks about the baptism of fire where they will be cast into a furnace of fire and the fire will never be quenched and that is of course hell.

Christ is the baptizer. If you are a believer you are baptized with the Holy Spirit which is the one that saves and places you into the body of Christ. But if you reject Christ then Christ will baptize you as an unbeliever in hell. Some churches promote that they offer the baptism of fire. I wouldn’t want to go to a church like that. They might deliver. They’re offering you hell without even realizing it. The baptism of fire is to be cast into the lake of fire, read Revelation, rather Matthew 3 12.

And then the baptism of theCritics of the Holy Spirit occurs at the moment of belief for every believer. That’s the one that saves it places you into the body of Christ. We have Fabian in Millington, Tennessee calling in. He leads this offer question, why do we as Christians have our worship services on the Sabbath? Are we not breaking the 4th commandment? Well we don’t have our worship services on the Sabbath. We are worshiping on the first day of the week and we don’t have them on the Sabbath because the Sabbath is of course given to Israel exclusively.

If you read Exodus 31, it tells us that the Sabbath was a sign that God gave to Israel and their children forever and was never given to the Gentiles. And so it’s not for us. Colossians 2 16 says, because Christ took the Old Testament law given to Israel and nailed it to his cross and took it out of the way, it says, let no man therefore judge you in respect of the Holy Days or of the New Moon or of the Sabbath.

So we are not to be judged by anyone as concerning keeping the Sabbath because we are not under the Old Testament law. But Christ is the one who established the day of worship. He came back from the dead on the first day of the week, Sunday. The second major appearance was on the eighth day. That was the following Sunday. The church began on Pentecost. That was on a Sunday. You read the book of Acts and the early Christians met on the first day of the week Sunday.

You read the Epistles of Paul, for example 1 Corinthians 16 says that they met as Christians on the first day of the week. So it was established very early, was practiced by the early church and established by Jesus himself and he nailed the law and the commandments that were given from Mount Sinai to his cross and took them out of the way. Thank you for that great question. By the way, the phone number here, if you’d like to call it, is 1-800-576-3771, 1-800-576-3771.

He says, iseqg the Jewish people and the Islamic people have Abraham in common in their religion. And that is true. The Jewish people are related to Abraham through Isaac. The Islamic people are related to Abraham through Ishmael. And of course we know that Ishmael and his descendants have gone away from the word of God. And the Jewish people of course have brought us the word of God, but most Jews, not all, but most Jews have also departed away from the Scriptures telling us there is one God and one Savior and that Savior is Jesus Christ.

We have Joe down in South Florida in Pimbroke Pines calling in and he says, what does the parable in Matthew 25 mean? Is this a picture of the second coming or the rapture? It’s the second coming and talking I’m sure about the parable of the 10 virgins and you’ll notice there that five were saved and five were lost. Of the foolish virgins he says, I know you not, which means you were not saved. The wise virgins, which were the same, enter into the kingdom when Christ comes and they are ready for His coming.

It’s the second coming, not the rapture. We have DJ in Florida calling in. He says, how can I trust God to be saved? I don’t understand. Well, you need to trust God to be saved through Jesus Christ, who is the Savior, God and flesh who died on the cross for you. So in order to be saved, John 3 16 says it as simply I think as you’ll ever hear it. These are the words of Jesus himself. Jesus said for God’s the love of the world that means you, DJ.

And so much that he gave has only begun the Son that’s Jesus who died for you and for the sins of the world. And the Bible says DJ that whosoever that means you, if you would believe or trust in Christ, But DJ you would not perish because Christ perished in your place, but DJ you would have everlasting life. So eternal life is received at the moment of belief and even John 3.16 makes it clear that you have. That’s a present tense verb.

You possess eternal life from the moment you believe. It’s not something you get after you die as a result of some judgment. It’s the result of what Christ did at the cross. Our sins were judged there when you trust Him at that moment you receive eternal life and you’ll live forever with the Lord. Thank you, DJ, and Tom in Kathleen, Florida calls in and says, What happens to the unsaved when they die? Well immediately they’re absent from their bodies and present in Hades in Flamin, Tormat, and the heart of the earth.

You can read about a rich man that experienced that in Luke 16 beginning in verse 19. and says the rich man died and in Hades he lifted up his eyes being in torment and he wanted just one drop of water to help cool his tongue because he was tormented in those flames. The unsaved remain there until after the thousand year reign of Christ and then they’ll be brought up out of Hades and cast into the eternal lake of fire after Satan and his angels are cast into help.

So after Revelation 20 verse 10 when Satan is cast into the lake a fire and they are punished forever and ever and ever. His angels are cast in, then the lost of mankind are brought up out of Hades given a degree of punishment, assignment in hell according to their works and cast into the everlasting lake of fire. We have John in Charlotte, Minnesota or Michigan, Charlotte, Michigan calling in and he says In Revelation, Jesus mentions the immortal outside of Heaven’s gates.

If non-sabre cast into the fire in Revelation 20 verse 15, would these possibly be the ones who have lost rewards not able to the gates? No, that’s not true. I’m really not too sure what verse you’re referring to there, but the ones that are outside are the ones that are in hell and the ones that enter the gates of the heavenly city are the saved. So you must be referring to the lost and not the saved. So every saved person will enter into those gates and will be in the nutrissalmen live with the Lord forever.

We have Claude calling in from Canada, from Canada, and he leaves us off for a question, His prayer really answered. Because I’ve been praying for some financial help and I just can’t see it. Pray for me. I want to see if miracles really happen. Well, I wish that I could say my prayers would bring you financial help. But basically, the Bible doesn’t necessarily… If you read Matthew chapter 6, it says you don’t have to worry about these temple things that God closed the lilies of the field and the birds of the year have food to eat and so on.

And he says, seek ye first. Matthew 6, 33. the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things, things, things will be added unto you. So if you’re living for Christ, He’ll take care of you. He’ll feed you in clothing and give you a place to stay. And that’s a promise from Jesus himself. Matthew 6, read those verses from about verse 19 to 33. And God promises that you don’t have to worry about it. God will take care of your needs.

But if you’re just sitting there waiting for a handout, that’s not necessarily going to happen. If you’re living for Christ, you seek Christ first in His Kingdom and His righteousness, then God promises to take care of your needs. We’re not going to go to the regular phone line now and talk to Frank in Tampa, Florida and Frank will come to mind when you’re on the air. It’s just a morning. Yeah, you’re on the air. Yes, I have a solution.

I got a question. I don’t know if it would be comfortable calling like a priest or something like that father. What does the Bible say about that? It says you shouldn’t do it. It says in Matthew 23 verse 9 there’s one father and that’s your father in heaven and it really tells us there to call no man father here on this earth in a religious way. Obviously you have your physical father who has brought you into this world But as far as a religious leader being called fathers only one spiritual heavenly father that’s got himself So I hope that helps Matthew 23 verse 9 tells you not to do that Thank you Frank, and it was Frank calling in from Tampa, Florida we have Diane in Tampa, Florida and Diane calls in and says Matthew 21 22 can it be taken literally well I’m turning there right now and

we’ll take a look at that verse and we’re looking at Matthew chapter 21 and I’m almost there in chapter 15 and I’m chapter 19 here we go. Well I chapter 1 verse 22 it says, Verily I say unto you if you have faith and doubt not you shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if you shall say unto this mountain, be thou removed and be cast into the sea, it shall be done.”

Absolutely you can take that literally. But here’s the point. When you take it literally, he says this mountain. He was standing on the Mount of Olives. And according to Zachariah chapter 14, that mountain is going to be removed when Christ comes at the Second Coming. So if you pray for God to remove that mountain, you’re praying a scriptural prayer request that will literally be fulfilled. That mountain is going to be removed. Read Zechariah chapter 14 verse 4 says his feet will touch down on the Mount of Oz.

It’ll split half of the mountain is going to be removed to the north, half of it to the south, and so it’ll be literally fulfilled. And that’s what it means by taking it literally. But if you’re just roaming around and you say you want to go up into the smokey mountains and start praying for mountains to be removed, forget it. It’s talking about a specific mountain. If you pray about this mountain, Christ says He was standing on it to be removed.

It will be. And it’s really a prayer for the Second Coming of Christ. He’s going to come back and remove that mountain. And a way will be provided for the river of life that will flow out from underneath the Third Temple built after the Rapture and will be the temple out which Christ rules during the millennium, a river will flow down to the Dead Sea. Right now the Mount of Olives is in the way, God is going to remove it so that a way is prepared for the water to flow down to the Dead Sea.
