Bibleline Radio Show – 2007-05-09 – Egypt in prophecy

This matches up exactly with a prophecy given by the prophet Isaiah warning of a powerful dictator who will invade Egypt and take over. “And the Egyptians will I give over into the hand of a cruel Lord; and a fierce king shall rule over them (Isaiah 19:4).” This is a reference to the Antichrist.

But certainly we’re excited about being with you wherever you might be listening and thank you for tuning in to the broadcast. The Bible is the Word of God and we believe every bit of it is inspired of God and is the book that we’re to go to on a regular basis. And I believe that God said what He meant and meant what he said and that we ought to be able to go to the Bible and read it and figure out what it’s saying because that’s what God intended.

I just happen to be reading Hennigraff’s new book and he says, here the consequences of reading the Bible literally or he says literalistically is disastrous. So he doesn’t recommend that you take the Bible literally and he has illustrations where He believes you cannot take it literally, especially in the area of prophecy. And it’s interesting how I believe this is totally wrong concept. And if that be the case, then certainly nobody can figure out what the Bible has to say.

Of course, he tells us with his book, which has the code, you’ll be able to figure it all out, which most things are metaphorical and don’t really mean what they say. Let me turn to Matthew 24, which is a passage that talks about the return of Jesus Christ, which those like Heng, Kennegraaff believe already occurred in 8070, and we missed it somehow. But it tells us here in Matthew 24, and then shall appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven, and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

Well he tells us that the clouds don’t really mean clouds. And in Hank Haneckenigraf’s book he tells us that even the most basic comparison of scripture is scripture reveals that clouds are common Old Testament symbol that pointed to God as the sovereign judge of the nations. In the words of Isaiah, see the Lord rides on a swift cloud and is coming to Egypt. The idols of Egypt tremble before him and the hearts of the Egyptians melt within them. Isaiah 19-1.

Here he says, it is the symbolism of judgment and a judgment that fell upon Egypt. Well, you know it is interesting when you turn to Isaiah chapter 19 verse 1 I believe there’s no reason why I didn’t take that passage literally. But if he has a flawed view of Isaiah chapter 19, which by the way is still future, it hasn’t happened yet. Isaiah 19 is talking about a future judgment that will come upon Egypt at the time of the return of Christ and the event is actually the same as the event in Matthew 24.

So when Christ comes in clouds in Matthew 24, it’s the same as Christ coming in clouds in Isaiah chapter 19. So to say that Isaiah 19 isn’t really talking about clouds because it didn’t happen literally. Therefore Matthew 24 cannot be taken literally because it doesn’t mean clouds but it means it’s a symbol of judgment. It’s really craziness. This is where people really go astray. to begin to say the Bible doesn’t mean what it says and God didn’t intend to say what he said but we’re supposed to have some kind of code to figure out what the Bible is teaching.

I believe this is really confusing to the believer and I think Satan is the author of confusion. We read that in 1 Corinthians but I’m going to read the verse again in Isaiah 19, the burden of Egypt. So in Isaiah, we have here this wonderful chapter that talks about the Second Coming of Christ. And in Isaiah 19, the event is the same as that in Matthew 24. Christ will come back in clouds. In Isaiah 19, he comes back in clouds in Matthew 24, and it tells us here about this Savior, a great one.

You know, Mary was told by the angel Gabriel that he shall be great. He shall be called the son of the highest, and he shall sit upon the throne with his father, David, ruling over Israel forever. That’s a literal promise that Christ would come back and rule over the nation of Israel sitting upon David’s throne. That’s what the Bible predicts throughout the Bible. I have to wonder, can we trust the God of the Bible if he has abandoned the promises that he made to his people back in the Old Testament.

He said that he would never forsake this people Israel. And he said as long as you can see the sun come up in the morning and the stars be seen at night along with the moon. And God has not cast away Israel. And in Romans 11 it says, have God cast away his people which you have foreknown? answer is no, he has not cast them away. So we have here in Isaiah 19 clearly a future event that has not happened yet.

It is clearly the return of Christ at the second coming. It tells us in verse 4 that the Egyptians, he says, I will give them into the hand of a cruel Lord, a fierce king shall rule over them. I believe that’s the Antichrist. And When Christ comes back, He will defeat the other Christ and He will deliver the Egyptians. It talks here about the Egyptians actually worshiping the Lord. Initage 21, this has not happened yet. It says, the Lord shall be known to Egypt and the Egyptians shall know the Lord or Jehovah || in that day.

And they will do sacrifice and ablation. Yay, they shall vow a vow unto Jehovah or Yahweh and perform it. We find here that they will return to the Lord and he will be intruded of them and shall heal them. And notice also further down here he calls the Egyptians his people as they become saved. That expression never occurs unless it’s talking about somebody who has become saved. Even of the Jewish nation he says when they turn to him and call upon him he will say to them that this is my people and they will say this is my God and they will accept the The Old Testament is the only one to be taken literally.

If you apply that principle, then in Matthew 24 we find it literal as well. Christ is coming back literally. We believe to write off everything as metaphorical or allegorical or symbolic or not meaning what the Bible says it means is certainly not true. I was reading one of the footnotes in the back Dahink Hanegraaff’s new book and he says the millennium is simply really symbolic. It doesn’t mean the millennium. It says here and I’m reading now from the glossary in the back.

The thousand years of revelation are symbolic of the unique and ultimate vindication that awaits the martyrs who died under the first century persecution of the beast. What does that mean? It means that Nero was the Antichrist. The tribulation was between 63 AD and 80 70. Christ came back in 80 70. And the thousand years doesn’t mean a thousand years. And that it’s simply symbolic, as I’m quoting here, of the unique and ultimate vindication that awaits the martyrs who died under the first century persecution of the beast that was the Antichrist back in 8063.

I really can’t buy into any of that. And if we did, we’d all be the lost because who then could really tell us what the Bible really means. Because if it doesn’t mean what it says, then anybody can come along and say, I have a code that will tell you the key to what all these things mean and how you can figure out the symbolic meaning of all the different terms in the Bible. God is not through with Israel.

In fact, some say that the promises to the land in the Middle East that were given to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob were fulfilled in the days of Joshua, and then they were ended. That those promises kind of died out. Well, that can’t be true because in Ezekiel we find in the time of the captivity, just five hundred and something years before Christ returns. The Bible tells us that God is not through with Israel. He says verse 25 of Ezekiel 37, and they shall dwell in the land that I have given unto Jacob my servant wherein your fathers have dwelt, and they shall dwell therein and they and their children and their children’s children forever.

How do you get away with that? That’s just another promise, as you see them repeated all the way through the Old Testament, that the children of Israel would dwell in the land that God gave to Jacob, and wherein your fathers have dwelt, and they shall dwell therein, and they and their children and their children’s children will dwell there forever. What is so sad today is that many churches because of this philosophy say that the land And in Israel, it doesn’t belong to the Jewish descendants of Abraham.

A growing number of Christians believe that the land does not rightfully belong to Abraham and physical seeds through Isaac, but that it belongs to the Palestinians or possibly even the Church, but definitely not the Jews. I’m going to quote from Israel, my glory, their latest magazine this month. It says here in fact, 154 preachers and teachers, including R.C. Sproul and Bruce Waltke, have signed an open letter on the Knox Theological Seminary website declaring that Jewish people have no special title to any land in the Middle East.

Let me quote here from their open letter, the entitlement of any one ethnic or religious group to territory in the Middle East called the Holy Land cannot be supported by scripture. In fact, the land promises specific to Israel in the Old Testament were fulfilled under Joshua. The president and founder and Chancellor of Knox Theological Seminary, D. James Kennedy, called the most listened to Presbyterian minister in the world today, has this open letter on his Core Ridge Ministries website. Look at that.

churches. In fact, the Presbyterian Church USA two years ago met in their general congregation or convention and voted, there are three million members, voted to boycott all companies that do any business with Israel and sided with the Palestinians or the Palestinian Authority. A year later, the Church of Christ, 2.5 million members, voted to do the same thing to boycott all companies it did any business with Israel and side with the Palestinian Authority. What is, I think, such a tragedy is that within Christian circles, people are denying Israel’s right to exist in the land, in the Middle East, and say they have no right to that land, that the land does not belong to them.

Wow. When yet the Bible is so clear, as we just read the one from Ezekiel 37, 25, during the captivity long after Joshua had ever been here, that God said that they and their children would live in that land that God gave to Jacob and his descendants were their fathers had lived forever and ever and ever and ever. It’s a day of confusion and I believe the Bible has to be taken literally and if you do it comes out nice and smooth and to try to say that Old Testament passages were not literal is again an attack against the Bible and what kind of God do we have who makes promises and then he breaks them.

He says, well I’m not going to fulfill those promises anymore to Israel because of this or that and the other. That is Certainly not what the Bible teaches at all. I’m Dr. Hank Lindstrom. This is Bibleline. We’re going to go to the phone lines. We have Dolores in Tampa, Florida, and Dolores. Welcome to Bibleline. You’re on the end. Okay. Hi, Dolores. Hi. You’re on the end. My question is on teenagers that we’ve, you know, that are raised in the church.

Sure. There’s so many of them leaving, you know, in the motivation to grow up and be responsible and take care of themselves. It’s just not there. And so they come back in and out of a home. So what do you do in that case? Well, I think, you know, we first need to make sure that they’re saved. Unfortunately, a lot of church kids never really get the gospel explained to them. And then they’re not also shown from the Bible that we can really demonstrate this book is true.

And it’s It’s a book that they need to appeal to to guide their life throughout their whole life. And so often what happens is many young people go off to college and they’re challenged in their faith and they really don’t have anything to stand on. They say, well that’s what my parents taught me or that’s what my church taught me or that’s what my son’s school teacher said, but they don’t really have a personal understanding that they see it for themselves in the scripture that God has written this book and this book can be trusted and this book is really the Word of God.

So I think it goes back to making sure that our teens are saved and then making sure that they know that what they believe is worthy of believing that we have a book that is indeed the Word of God and demonstrates to be so by the fact that it’s accurate in everything that it says, and that it tells the future before it happens and tells us of things that we did not know about before we ever discovered them. And I think then they can stand on the fact that they have seen it for themselves and they know what they believe.

I like a book called, I forget it, I think the exact caliber says, to really be able to know what you believe and why you believe it and by a man named Little. And he does a real good job of saying we need to take people back and connect them to the Bible individually. But if they’re only living out the faith of their parents or the faith that they were told about in the church and not really have a salvation experience by trusting Christ and then being connected to the Bible themselves where they see the evidence from the Bible, they’re going to drift and they’re going to be pulled by all the things that are out there that are pulling kids away today from God.

You know she she has a child but on her own be praising the Lord Knight to sneak up the stairs and watch her in the mirror chomping and praising and singing to the Lord but Jenna now is You know the other day I found a harry potter book in a bag and I told her you’re not allowed to have that in the house You know that and you know she said How do you know it’s real what what you believe?

I said? Oh my gosh? I can’t believe you’re saying that after all these years I said well you believe in good and evil you believe that people that do very bad things and hurt children and stuff are evil right and she’s like well yeah I was so well then you have to find it for yourself to believe that they’re good and God is the good. Oh no and it’s difficult I have we have a book that we recommend very much called a new evidence that demands a verdict by Josh McDowell, it really is full of evidences and proofs that the Bible is the Word of God.

And it’s that kind of information that people I think need to have in their arsenal so that they say and that’s what she was asking. How do we know this is right or how we know it’s real? And I think these are some wonderful books that are out there nowadays that that are well documented at show and established that what God said in the Bible actually did happen in history and that prophecies were literally fulfilled including, you know, I was amazed.

I never learned this in the church. I was raised in either, but I discovered that, you know, the whole life of Christ is foretold in the Old Testament that he’d be born in Bethlehem, that he’d be born of a virgin, that he would die by crucifixion, that he’d be buried in a rich man’s tomb, that he’d come back from the dead and so on and so on and so on. And when I saw all those prophecies and how they were literally fulfilled, I said to myself, God has to be the author of the Bible just like it claims, and this book has to be true.

And the more I studied it, the more I’m convinced because I see the things that are happening right now in our world that were predicted so many thousands of years ago. I think that we got to get them connected to the Bible and show them. There’s evidence that this book is really true. But today the Bible is under attack. Christian, entity is under attack. The second coming of Christ is under attack. It seems like Satan is really coming at us hard today.

And from so many different angles, from Hollywood or Hollywood, and from our televisions and from the internet. And kids are just bombarded by all kinds of things that are They’re mooring them away from the Bible and actually disparaging them from even reading it. And I think we need to turn that around as best we can. Yes, yes, I believe that too. Because I have a 15-year-old adopted son who loves to read and he’s a high-honored student. And he just read 20-something books of Star Wars, so we gave him the left behind series, so he’d read some Christian and he sings them a choir, everything.

That’s wonderful. the pull of the world, you know, and the secular school just trying to pull up. And he says, I feel so convicted. And I’m like, okay, because you can’t have both things. You’ve got to have the Lord all the way. You can’t have one foot on each side. Well, the Lord will be praying for you. It’s tough. And we do recommend some books like that, where you can get them into some type of evidence. When they ask, I don’t know, this is true.

There’s plenty out there that demonstrates that the Bible is the Word of God. Well, thank you very much. You’re a wonderful day God bless you to the Lord. Thank you the Lord’s in Tampa, Florida. We have Mark in Newport Richie and Mark welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Hi mark Yes, I’ll you today. Good. That’s an update in your church. I’m a saved Christian. I have one question coming up on Mother’s Day I mean it’s not in the Bible about Mother’s Day I just don’t think we should really be celebrating any kind of holiday unless it’s in the Bible.

Maybe I’m too strict on this, but I sort of got a problem like that. Like this one church I was going to and they had like an Easter egg hunt, and I just quit going to that church because the Easter egg hunt, and I just want to know what your take is on Mother’s Day, and if we should be celebrating it or not. Well, the answer is in Exodus 20 you have the 10 commandments, and one of those commandments is honor thy mother, honor thy father and thy mother, and it’s a command of God to do that.

And so to pick a day to honor mothers, I think, is perfectly fine. In fact, we’re going to do that here in my church. We’re going to have a breakfast in the morning at nine o’clock. All moms go free. And to get the family out and to honor mom during the worship service, we’re going to be doing that. And I believe it’s certainly a good thing to do. Thank you for that question. And we have come up here on the end of the first half hour.

We have a full hour program. We’ll do another half hour, but we’ll take a break here. Then we’ll come back and do the second half hour. We are living in a challenging time It’s a time when you can’t lay your Bible on the shelf and leave it there You really need to be in on a regular basis in order to know what God is saying especially in these days as he talks about the last days and second Timothy chapter 3 He lays out the terrible headlines that we’re reading about There, the kind of world would be living in.

And in view of that, he tells us all Scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction to completely equip us as a Christian to do the job in these hours. And I believe that we’ve got to get to the Bible. If you haven’t helped Bibleline this month for the month of May, you can give a gift through your credit card over the phone or mail a gift in. We’re going back to the phone lines. They are 1-800-576-3771, 1-800-576-3771. So we’re going now to Darlene in Oldsmar, Florida. Welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Yes, hello Dr. Langston. Darlene Webster and I purchased the Apocalyptoed Code code and I’ve read about half of it, but I’ve been so depressed, I guess, because I was just so looking forward to the rapture and I still believe it.

When you’re so good, yeah, right? I wanted to ask a couple questions. First of all, he said, prior to the 19th century, all Christian and futurists included put the second coming in the rapture in one class. I was wondering if that was true that all of these past hundreds of years. Well, you’re absolutely right. For the most part, that’s true. That’s because Catholicism was pretty much in control of the Christian world as the major player and they had this wrong view of replacement theology from the time of Augustine in the 5th century and then when the reformation happened and Martin Luther broke the lid on the gospel and said that we’re saved by faith and not by the Catholic Church, then of course the different Protestant denominations were formed but they carried the same bad doctrine on prophecy right on out to their churches.

So they all believe as the Catholics do that that God has done with Israel, that the churches replaced Israel, and that there is no future kingdom that Christ really came back in AD 70 when the Romans destroyed Jerusalem. And so that bad teaching has continued, but that doesn’t mean that it’s not true because the Bible obviously proclaims the truth. But just any more than that there was no gospel of salvation by faith until Martin Luther came along. He discovered it to the world again and brought it out.

Here’s the Scriptures, here’s what it says. And obviously then it took off like a rocket and people discovered it. And so more recently people have begun to study prophecy as we approach the end of this age and some many wonderful Bible teachers have come along that have caused us to take a look at the passages about the return of Christ and of course the rapture and all these things have become more popular to study today because we believe we’re nearing the time when it’s going to happen.

But he’s right. There’s been bad doctrine for nearly two thousand years, but that doesn’t mean that the truth hasn’t always been there. It’s always been there in the Bible. Yeah, like he presents like somebody started this rumor more or less and it caught on and you know, I don’t know. That was just really discouraging to me. And one other thing we wanted to ask about the racial discrimination where he says, you know, like Paul says you You are all sons of God through faith in Christ, you know, you need to do in our Greek and all.

And that we are all the same then. Well, that’s as far as true as our position in Christ. I mean, you’re not going to be better off in heaven because you’re Jewish, then I would be as a gentile. I’m not saying that you’re Jewish, but we’re going to be the same. Whether you’re male or female, females are not going to be lesser than men in heaven as far as their salvation is concerned, were equally saved. But it doesn’t have a thing to do with God’s promises to the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, which will literally be fulfilled here on the earth.

We believe in the near future. We believe that Jewish people are back in the land right now in anticipation of this return of Christ to become their king and rule over them and rule over the earth from Jerusalem for a thousand years. the peace that had been predicted hasn’t happened yet. If we’re in the kingdom as they all say that we are, how come there’s all these wars when the Bible says that Christ would rebuke the nations and they would learn war no more.

Obviously, we’re seeing more war and destruction right now than we’ve ever had. The Bible says as we would approach the Lord’s return that the years would become very violent and look at it. We had just this terrorist group yesterday that were caught that one to go on a military base here in the u.s. and kill american soldiers on american soil and uh… this jihadi Hatred toward America is all part of the end time violence. I believe that the Bible predicts will happen and we’re watching prophecy unfold, but they obviously take us back and say there’s nothing happening today.

That’s a fulfillment of prophecy. It’s already happened in the past. Mm hmm. Well, right. I would just recommend that people do not read this book or at least read it with convection that you’re of the rapture because I mean, like I said, I would just depressed me that it seems like he was changing everything. Even though he probably is a sincere Christian, you know, I don’t know. But it took, like I study your books from Dr. McGee. I love those books.

They are so enlightening to me and his revelations and it’s just joy. I know it. It’s called the Blessed or the Happy Expectation or hope of the believer to know that Christ is coming and he’s going to ultimately bring peace on this earth which right now we need so desperately. It’s literally going to happen. To say you can’t take the Bible literally. I couldn’t believe the quote I read on the air today from his book where He says to interpret the Bible literally is to head for disaster.

So obviously you can’t believe what you’re reading according to him. He turns it around and says it should be literally for that day that this already happened. Things like that are not the future. So it’s so confusing. I just… Really is. Yes. And I thank you so much for your program and you answer my questions and you’ve always enjoyed listening to you. Thank you darling. And it’s interesting too that because people have had it wrong for so many years, I was in a debate a couple years ago.

Thomas Ice and myself, he’s the author of the In Time Controversy book and we were in debate with all these preterists that believe that Christ has already come. And I saw their PowerPoint presentations and everything else I listened to several before I got up to speak. They were all appealing for the reason why they believe what they believe was because of all the historians and all the theologians down through the centuries that had it wrong to believe like they did.

It doesn’t matter if anybody believes like they do. It matters what the Bible says and the Bible is quite plain if you take it literally. If you take the Bible literally, you’re not going to come out any other way than with what I believe. I believe the Bible would be literal and we’re all going to come out on the same page. But when you approach it and spiritualize it and allegorize it and make it all metaphorical, then you could make the Bible say whatever you want to say.

That’s too bad, as you say, it was disappointing to you. It’s not, I think, uplifting to read the book. Anyway, I’m Dr. Englunds from that’s my opinion. And we are going to take some more calls. We have Jim in Seminole, Florida, and Jim, welcome to Bibleline your own ear. Good morning, Sarah. Good morning. Two points. We’re referring, first of all, to Acts 111. The Preterists say that all end times Bible prophecy has been fulfilled already. Is that not correct?

Yes. Then therefore they must deny the literal visible coming of Jesus Christ. Amen. You know, you’re referring to there where Christ ascended and two angels stood by and said, why do you stand gazing here up in the heaven this same Jesus which is taken up from you in the heaven till so return and light manners you’ve seen him go. That means he’s going to come back visibly and he’ll come back to the same place where he left from and that’s what the Bible teaches if you take it take it literally.

Zachariah 14-4 tells us that Christ’s feet will touch back down on the Mount of Olives the very place where he was when he ascended and that he left visibly and the Bible says in Revelation 1-7, every eye will see him and so he’ll be seen and he’ll come back into physical body as he left in a physical body and so on. So in the 80-70 they admit that nobody saw him that the judgment of Christ coming was really the Romans destroying Jerusalem in the temple, but if you read the scriptures it says that God would destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem Rome wasn’t destroyed Nothing nothing happened literally nothing happened in 80 70 that would make you feel like the prophecy had been fulfilled at all and Certainly the heavens didn’t light up as the Bible says that Lightning would streak across the heavens from one end to the other and the heavens would be lighted and that didn’t happen in

70, there’s no record of that. And the sun didn’t stop its shining and the moon that give her light and the stars of heaven fall, that didn’t happen. And so on and so on and so on. It just… If we were to go point by point as to what should have happened in eighty-seventy if it was a fulfillment of the prophecy of that time, it just didn’t happen. So the predators have literally removed that scripture from their Bible apparently.

Well you might as well think of scissors and just cut out everything that doesn’t mean what it says. spiritualized, I guess. Second point, Paul, I think it is in the Thessalonians says at the end of his discourse on the rapture says, where will comfort one another with these words? Now, if there is no such thing as a rapture, and I have to go through as a Christian, I have to go through the great tribulation, how on earth am I going to be comforted with these words?

Well, that’s a good question. Obviously the return of Christ is a wonderful expectation that we can comfort each other with that we’re going to receive our resurrection bodies and be with the Lord forever from that moment on when He comes and we’re to look forward to it. The Bible constantly is encouraging us to be looking for Jesus. Of course, they say He’s coming, but what they mean by that is it’s after the millennium was over whatever period of time that is.

It’s an indeterminate amount of time and it just doesn’t have a literal meaning of 1000 years. So that’s because obviously we’re now 2000 years since Christ was here and so they don’t know how to fit that 1000 years in so they just spiritualize it. Yeah, well the Bible said there would be deniers in the end days but I don’t think it said that that they would come from the camp of the so-called Christians? Well, it is true that we have those that are within Christianity.

First Timothy chapter 4 verse 1 says, the Holy Spirit says expressly that in the latter days there would be those who would depart from the faith. So they were in so-called faith, but they’re departing from the body of truth as containing God’s word. And so I think it does apply. Yeah. Thank you for those explanations. Okay, Jim, thank you for calling in. But, you know, if nobody believes the Bible, the Bible is still true. And there’s no reason to ever believe that the Scriptures are to be taken literally.

Those Old Testament passages that they try to cite to say that the Bible is non-literal in the Old Testament, therefore it’s non-literal in the New Testament, is craziness. I think they don’t understand the Old Testament. As we went over to Isaiah 19 today, and that’s still future. That’s the same event that’s happening at the Second Coming, and they’re trying to say because Isaiah 19 was not literal because it didn’t really happen. They missed the point that it hasn’t happened yet.

It’s still a future event. We have Eddie in Lakeland, Florida, and Eddie welcomed the Bible in your own ear. Yes, that’s a question. How you doing today? Good. to know if anything, look we found or doctrinal things about if you leave a church that’s not doctrinal an example or notice something the reason why I’m leaving it. You don’t have to, it’s not an obligation on your part but you might want to let them know. Say that I just really can’t attend here because I don’t believe you’re following the scriptures or teaching the scriptures correctly and let them know while you’re leaving but it’s not required.

Okay, I believe that he’s a full Calvinist, which I disagree with. He made a plane that your salvation has nothing to do with anything you do. In other words, God chooses those he’s going to save with disregard even to belief. But then of course, believing the fifth point of Calvinism, you must persevere. And if you don’t, you’ve never been saved to begin with. So you might be faithful as a Christian and depart at some point and he would say that you were never chosen.

All of that, I don’t believe is true. Plus, I believe he’s mixing discipleship and conditions for the Christian life with salvation and presents that as the means of being saved, which I disagree with a lot of what John MacArthur teaches. Excuse me, we’re going to go now to Ken and Ken is in Decatur, Illinois. Yes, sir, Dr. Hank, concern in that.

A 3-7. It says, Ever Learning and Never Able to Come to the Knowledge of the Truth. You put those two scriptures together, perverse the sputings of men, of corrupt minds, and death to the truth, ever learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. The only thing I can say for Hank Antograph and any of that crowd, the Mary Baker Eddies and all the rest of them that you got on your website, of the federal false teachers is when the Lord comes with a shout, you don’t be hanging on to them or you’re going to stand right here on this earth and everybody else leaves.

Those people aren’t even worth wasting Christian’s time on listening to, talking about or anything else with them. You said one thing, the main reason I called is this business with Coral Ridge and the Presbyterians because I donate to several different ministries for different reasons, primarily coral ridge for what they do you know standing in the c I can find that. What I was quoting today is from the magazine Israel My Glory, a ministry of the Friends of Israel. And in their May, June issue, this month’s issue, next month’s issue, the quote is that this open letter is on the Coleridge Ministries website.

It says 154 preachers that signed it. Saying that the entitlement of any ethnic or religious group to territory in the Middle East called the whole then cannot be supported by scripture In fact the land promises specific to Israel the Old Testament were fulfilled under Joshua in the quote and They basically say that if it bonds anybody probably bonds in the Palestinians, right?

Yes, okay, because I want to check out these hundred fifteen percent of money that he was my mom’s stomping Thank you for your benefit. I get more truth. How do you tell it? I can sit here and read the Bible and listen to you and I just count on what you’re saying. We are not going to agree 100% on things. Even the Bible, we’re not things we just can’t know because it’s you know it’s head with God. We got it.

We got those answers. But I’ll tell you what I just thank God for your ministry and I really appreciate you and I pray for you and I just thank God for you. Thank you. thank you can’t can and the cater illinois’s uh… illinois listening to uh… uh… by the line we have uh… uh… james in uh… plant city florida and the james welcome to bible and you’re on here yes dr at all believe that uh… we we get to have a five p uh…

but in in ministering to an unbelievable or someone that believes you work to get to heaven, a question arose about the rich ruler, the young man that came to Christ and asked him what would he have to do to be saved? I can’t remember exactly what that is in scripture. Yes, it’s in 19, isn’t it? In 19, isn’t it? 19 is the chapter. And you’ll notice there that he’s trying to win him through a saving knowledge of himself. He tells him how to be saved there.

He says come and If you notice if you have the you probably don’t have your Bible near you, but in verse 21 he covers that is a scripture again, Dr. Chapter 19 verse 21 He says yeah, and he says come and follow me another two doctrines here that Christ is teaching We come to Christ to be saved, and then He talks about treasures in heaven that come as a result of our following Christ, which is discipleship. And so He offers the man both, and the man goes away sorrowful.

It says, because he had great riches. And then of course Christ tells us that sometimes it’s difficult for rich man to get to heaven, because again they trust in their riches, and not willing to simply come and trust Christ as Savior. But down, and the disciples got confused by the way, so this is a difficult passage. They said, then, who can be saved? They were exceedingly amazed. And Christ tells them in verse 26 with men, this is impossible. The commandments, he reviewed them with this man, and nobody’s been able to keep the commandments.

And so with men, it’s impossible to become as righteous as the commandments demand of us. By trusting Christ’s Savior Christ’s righteousness is imputed to the believer and so he tells us A little further down in the chapter here, in verse 20, if you followed him in the new birth, in the regeneration, then you will inherit Eternalyph. So Eternalyph is an inheritance and it comes by being born again. But then he says, if you follow me, and Peter, in fact, said that we followed you and what are we going to get for it?

Well, he tells him that you’re going to receive a hundred fold, which is a reward based upon our following Christ. So salvation is a gift you’re born again by coming to Christ and you inherit eternal life according to the passage and Then if you follow Christ you will be rewarded 100 fold for whatever you invested in your and your service to Christ So it’s it is obviously a difficult passage or the disciples wouldn’t have said who then can be saved But then he goes on in verse 26 to explain with men, this is impossible.

You could never be as righteous as the law demands by your works. But with God, all things are possible. So through Christ’s death, God is able to credit your account with His righteousness based on the fact that Christ took your sin and paid for them and formed the cross. So the subsidiary, Death of Christ, allows you to be born again and become righteous in God’s sight based upon what Christ did for you. Then you follow Christ and you’ll receive rewards a hundred fold or a hundred times over whatever you invest will be returned to you for serving Christ.

So he’s saying in verse 26, two things come. You come to Christ and simply trust Him in your saved. Excuse me, that’s verse 21. And then he says to the young man, then you do that after that, then you choose to serve me or follow me and I’ll reward you. Very good. Very good. You answered that question. My question was going to be now, or would it be safe to say that the invite could come with being invite for salvation?

Yes, exactly. Matthew 1128 says, coming to me, all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I’ll give you rest. The salvation is a gift by simply coming. Matthew 1128. Okay, good deal. Thank you, Dr. H. All right. You’re sure welcome. the time is blown and we’ve got callers, all the lines are lit up and offer questions and we don’t really have time to take them. If you have never been saved, you need to simply trust Christ and if you haven’t done so, you could do it right now, you could say God, I’m a sinner, I don’t understand a whole lot but I put my trust right now in Jesus Christ as the one who died for me, paid for my sins by his death and shed blood was buried and rose again from the dead.

The moment you trust him, God saves you. Then she is to become his disciple and live for him and serve him. We certainly believe Christ is coming again and we believe that as Paul had visited the people at Pessalonica very early in his ministry and his first letter he describes this wonderful event of people that are alive and remaining when Christ returns will be caught up to meet him in the air and will be delivered from the time of destruction will follow the tribulation period.

And then of course the wonderful promise of an eternity with the Lord finally for the believer who has been caught up at the rapture coming back to rule and reign with Christ during a thousand years and we believe that’s still all future. We have to run unfortunately but we’ll be back tomorrow and I hope you’ll be joining us on the Bible and program tomorrow. Until then, God bless and keep looking up because Jesus, my friend, is coming. You’ve been listening to Bibleline, a presentation of Bibleline Ministries of Tampa, Florida.

It’s been great to be with you today. I hope you’ve enjoyed the broadcast. We are certainly living in a time when there is controversy about the end times. We believe the Bible to be literal.

If you believe it to be literal, it’s going to come out one way. Jesus is in the future, still coming again. First, his not shot is believers at the Rapture. Seven years later to come back and rule and reign this king over Israel and king over all the nations of the earth, bringing peace on this planet. And these promises are literal. But God is not a promised breaker. He gave promises to Abraham, to Isaac, to Jacob, and to those descendants down through time he reiterated those promises.

and we believe that he hasn’t broken them or will not break them, but they will be literally taking place in the future. I hope you approach the Bible literally and if you do, you’re going to come out on top. If you have to spiritualize it or put or sprinkle pixie dust on top of the Bible to figure out what it says, you’re going to be left in confusion and that’s what Satan wants. He doesn’t want you to really know what the Bible is saying.

So if you can’t prevent you from reading it, you’ll tell you that you can’t understand it unless you have some special code or Some special insight from somebody else and all the cults do that they have Mary Baker Eddie to tell the Christian scientists how to understand the Bible the seven-day Adventist have Ellen’s you white to tell them how to interpret the Bible and Nearly every group That wants you to be blinded to the truth truth. They may be sincere, but they are really blinding you when they have some other authority that you have to appeal to before you can read the Bible and figure it out for yourself.

Well, we have to run, but if you haven’t helped Bible in this month of May, would you send in a gift by mail or call our 800 number and give a gift by credit card over the phone. That number is 1-800-576-3771. Thank you for listening today. God bless. We’ll be back tomorrow, Lord willing. And in the meantime, keep looking up because Jesus really is coming and more than ever we need to be looking for His return. God bless. Have a great day.
