We’re on seven days a week here on the radio in Tampa Bay. So Tennyson. I hope you enjoy. We’re going to go to the phone lines in just a minute. But first we’re going to take a look at the Bible.
If you have your Bible, you can. You might want to tune in or rather turn in your Bible to the passages we’re looking at. We’re going to go to 1 Timothy 1 and we find here that Paul talks about people having swerved aside. Interesting. Sounds almost like they’re driving a car. But in 1 Timothy 1 verse 6 it says, From which, that is good doctrine, from which some have swerved and appeared aside under vain jangling, desiring to be teachers of the law, understanding neither what they say nor where of they affirm.
Isn’t that interesting? People desiring to be teachers of the law, understanding neither what they say nor where of they affirm. But we know that the law is good if a man uses it lawfully. Knowing this, this is 1 Timothy chapter 1 verse 9, knowing this that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers and fathers and brothers, and for manslayers, for whormongers and so on.
But you know what is interesting here is that the law cannot save a person. Nobody can be saved by keeping the law. The law was given according to the Bible to be a teacher, to show us our sinfulness. Somebody once said the law is somewhat like a mirror. You can look at a mirror and see that your face is dirty, but to cleanse your face you You don’t unhinge the mirror and begin to wash your face with the mirror.
That’s just not the way it’s done. So what do you do? You get some kind of cleanser to cleanse your face, some soap to wash your face with. The mirror’s job is simply to point out that your face is dirty. And so you just need to recognize that the law is like that. It shows us that we’re sinners, but the law cannot cleanse us of our sin, only the blunt of Christ could wash away your sin and bond. Let me have you turn with me.
We’ll come back to Timothy in just a moment. But I want you to turn to the book of Galatians. And in the book of Galatians in chapter 3, it really helps clarify all of this for us. And I hope this will be helpful to get an understanding of why God gave the law. It says in verse 19 in Galatians 3, wherefore then serveth the law? Or basically the question is why the law? Why did God give the law? The commandments that were given from Mount Sinai.
Well, it says in verse 19, it was added because of transgressions till the seed should come to whom the promise was made. What is interesting here is that this was added. God had given a promise already that salvation would be by faith. That promise was given back there to Abraham and it says in chapter 3 in relations verse 6 that Abraham believed God and it was Canada in the righteousness. What did he believe? He believed the gospel. Relations 3 8 says the scriptures foreseeing that God would justify the nations through faith preached before the gospel under Abraham.
In verse 16 it tells us clearly that Abraham believed on Christ and that’s how he was saved. And here it says in verse 18 in Galatians 3, if the inheritance be of the law, then it is no more of promise. But God gave it to Abraham by promise. Well then why the law, verse 19 says, and it says it was added. It was added. And basically was added to point out to us that we are all sinners in need of a Savior.
The scripture it says here in verse 22, have concluded all under sin that the promise, which was given back there to Abraham, by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that belief. And notice again that word believe. And word belief from the Greek, the stewo, P-I-S-T-E-U-O, means to trust, to rely upon, to put your confidence in, to rest your weight upon. And so when a person puts their trust in Christ, They rest their weight upon him as their only means of salvation.
They place their confidence in him that he’s fully capable of saving him and there’s no other means of salvation. They trust in Jesus alone by faith alone. God then saves them. They receive this wonderful promise of eternal life that they receive at the moment they believe. So therefore it says in verse 24, wherefore the law was our school master. to bring us unto Christ. So the law, like the mirror, shows us that our face is dirty, and then we get some cleanser and wash our face.
The law shows us that we are sinners in need of cleansing, and the law brings us to Christ who is the cleanser, and he washes away our sin by his blood. This verse, let me read it again in Galatians 3,24, wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ that we might be justified how? By faith it says in Galatians 3, 24. But then it says in verse 25, but after that faith has come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.
So we are no longer under the law. The law has fulfilled its purpose. And then I love the next verse here. It says, for you are For all the children of God, actually the Greek is weos, it means sons of God, fully sons in God’s family by the new birth. You are all the sons of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For you are all the sons of God by faith in Christ Jesus. In other words, the new birth occurs by faith and we become God’s sons by trusting Christ to Savior by faith.
And the law simply was a teacher to bring us to that point where we realize, wow, I have a need. You know the night that I got saved, I saw verse over there in Revelation chapter 21 verse 27 where I learned for the first time that just one lie would be enough to send me to hell. You see, one of the Ten Commandments says, I’m not a bear false witness. And the penalty for just breaking the law one time, just committing one sin, just telling one lie would be enough to exclude you from heaven.
And you know the law did its job because I realized, whoa, I’m in trouble. I’d told about three lies at that time, and that’s not true either. That’s a fourth lie. In any case, I knew I had lied and I was a sinner. But all of a sudden when I realized one lie would keep me out of heaven, I really recognized for the first time how lost I was. And you know, then I began to search, then I began to look, and I began to pay attention.
And it was that night that the Bible was opened up, and I saw that Christ was the means by which I could be cleansed. I was a sinner, I had broken the law, I was condemned, the law condemned me, I saw my condition. I never had really seen myself as lost until that night. I was raised in church and I didn’t see myself as bad. I didn’t see myself as real good, but I felt I was somewhere in the middle.
I was average. I felt like God wouldn’t send me to hell. I wasn’t real bad. I wasn’t real good, but I was somewhere in the middle. I said, God’s going to let me into heaven. But I was basing my hopes on works. little did I realize that the law did its job for me in pointing out, you’re in trouble because one lie would keep you out of heaven. Revelation 21, 27, write it down. And you know, then I found out that Jesus died and could cleanse me of every sin.
My past, my present, my future sins would all be paid for if I’d only, well they were already paid for at the cross, but If I’d only received that payment by trusting Christ, I would be saved eternally. Here it tells us that the law was a teacher, verse 24, of Galatians 3, to bring us to Christ that we might be justified by faith. Then it says in verse 26, you are all the children, or it really reads from the Greek, the sons of God by faith, by faith in Christ Jesus.
When you place your faith in Christ, it’s at that moment you become a son of God, you become born again, you become a member of the family of God and forever you live in heaven. Timothy says there were people back then and there are still around today that desire to be teachers of the law and they don’t understand what they say, nowhere of they affirm. In other words, they try to say that you’re saved by the law and you’re saved by not doing the things the law forbids, but that’s not really what the law was given to do.
law cannot save you. It says that everywhere through the Bible, if you read it carefully, but the law is to be used lawfully. It’s good if it’s used lawfully, and that is knowing it’s not made for somebody who’s saved, it says in verse 9, it’s made for the one who’s unsaved to bring him to Christ. That’s the purpose of the law. Obviously a means of us seeing that we are in trouble. If you’re driving down the road and you pass an intersection and there’s no stop sign, you have no problem with just driving right through that intersection and you don’t feel guilty, you don’t feel there’s a problem at all.
But if there’s a big stop sign there and you don’t even slow down, you go right through that stop sign, you might have a tendency to look around for some flashing lights. You might have been convicted of the fact that you have broken the law. Perhaps there is a penalty to be paid and the law might come right behind you with those flashing lights and pull you over and give you a ticket. Well that is exactly what the law was to do.
The law was to bring our attention to the fact that we have sinned and have come short of the glory of God, and that God Himself provides the righteousness that we need to enter heaven through faith in Christ. And when you trust Christ, God saves you. Isn’t that great news? I trusted Christ at 18. I received eternal life at very dying. I became a child of God. I was born again. I received eternal life and I know all of that is true because I have God’s Word on it.
God tells me in the Bible that He so loved the world that meant me. He gave his only begotten Soness, Jesus Christ, that if I would believe or trust in Christ, I would not perish, but I would have everlasting life. I’m Dr. Hank Lindstrom, Mrs. Bible, and we’re going to go to our live college. If you want to call in, it’s 1-800-576-3771, 1-800-576-3771, and you can also leave a question on the internet. Go to that radio page, click on the spinning globe and a page will come up and it will have a place already for you to just Type in your question and hit submit and we’ll get that and put it up on the air We have Brad right now and he’s calling in from Clearwater fora and Brad.
Welcome to Bible in your own ear Good morning pastor Lindstrom Hey, I have a question for you. I know some missionaries they’re stationed in in Scotland. And I was wondering if you have a radio station, the name of the number of your station and as to what time it would be played in Scotland, I’ll hang out and listen to your answer by radio. Thank you. Well, I wish we were there, but we are not on live radio outside of the United States, except for Honduras in Central America.
We’re broadcasting there out of the island of Rotan, which has a population by itself of 80,000 and it reaches most all the country of Honduras. But they can buy internet here in Scotland. We do have people in England who we know are tuning in and also apparently Scotland. There are some that have found us. So give them the address. Bible-ign ministries, not ORG, and it’s true the World Wide Web. they can click on and they can hear our programs any time of day or night 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, any time of the month they want to make it listen 24 hours.
So keep that in mind. Pass that word along to them. Get them to the internet site. That’s where most outside this country are listening to Bible and we have Nicole and she is in Medawood, Pennsylvania And thank you for calling in the cold. We’re on every day there in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. And she leaves this off her question. I already own a Bible, but I have a hard time understanding what is being said. Can you recommend one? Well, I recommend the old Scofield Reference Bible.
We have it here in our Resource Center. We can ship one right out today. But I find the notes are absolutely wonderful. And I’m so glad I got introduced to it very early on. But it’s the King James edition of the Bible. But the notes are very, very, very excellent. They’re geared to doctrine. Do you want to know about redemption, salvation, justification, glorification, predestination, and so on and so on? Sanctification. All these are defined and clearly explained in the Scovial Bible.
If you want to know about the Godhead It’s all there the names of God Heaven hell angels whatever doctrine you want to cover. It’s all right there in the Scovial Bible. It’s such a wonderful tool I recommend it highly and that’s what I would recommend. I’m holding one in my hand right now I have one of the inexpensive additions we have that goes for $20 and then we have leather and large print and all those kind of things. So Nicole, I hope that helps.
Thanks for tuning in there from Pennsylvania. And Frank in Tampa calls in, leaves an offer a question. He says in 1 Corinthians 6, 11, what is the washing? Is this his blood or water? And it’s really the cleansing that occurs when you trust Christ as Savior. And obviously, He washes us in his own blood. Revelation 1, 5 says unto him that loved us and washed us from our sins in his own blood. So it is a washing and cleansing of our sin, has nothing to do with water.
It is the cleansing that God does when we trust Christ. It also says that we’re washed, we’re sanctified, we’re justified in the name of the Lord Jesus. So in his authority that he would save all that would believe on him. We are cleansed when that happens. Frank and Tampa, thank you so much. We have Carmen calling in. She’s in Milford, Indiana. Milford, Indiana. Carmen, thank you for calling in. Welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Carmen? Yes. You’re on the air.
Okay. Thank you. I have good friends that we’ve known for years and they are students of the Bible. And in the last year they have started keeping the Sabbath. As far as I know they’re not seven-day Adventists, they just think that keeping the Sabbath is right. And so I asked them if they had any literature that I could read about it and they gave me the amazing facts book that’s about the Sabbath. And on page 41 it says Sunday Worship is the creation of the early pagan Catholic Church of the Dark Ages.
That bothered me a little bit. And then I go on to page 50 and I would like to read just a little bit to you. It’s called the ultimate Sabbath rest. And it’s after his death upon the cross, the Lord Jesus Christ resisted, the entire Sabbath in the grave. Just as he had rested after his work on creation, the Son of God rested after completing his work of redemption. Then on Sunday, which has been a common working day for over 3,000 years, Jesus rose from the turn, tune, returned to life and literally went back to work.
It’s the resurrection of sufficient reason for Sunday worship. No. The Lord’s Supper happened on a Thursday night, but we don’t celebrate it every Thursday. And Christ’s attuning death took place on Friday, but we don’t say every Friday is a sacred day. Christ designated that his death, burial and resurrection, should be symbolically They corroborated in the right of baptism, not Sunday worship. The Bible clearly states that only one day was ever contemplated and commanded for mankind to observe the seventh day Sabbath and the risen Jesus never told us any different.
Well, I had heard you say last spring sometimes that keeping Lent is a Satan, but I guess my final question, and I guess I’m not really doubting in my heart, but I do want to know these answers because this is truly bothered me that they think this is right. And so why do we try to keep all the other commandments but not the fourth one? Why has it changed? And in the Catholic Bible, this book says, I haven’t gotten ahold of Catholic Bible to find out if it is right, but they have altered the commandment and that there’s a third commandment there to keep the Sabbath and they also have taken the commandment out where you’re idol and so they have, you know, the Catholics have all their commandments and if we’re keeping Sunday because that’s what they agreed, that really bothers me.
So anyway, I’d like to hear your answer on this and I got pens on the pen. I’m going to write down. Thank you. Thank you. Carmen, thank you so much and we hear that a lot of that amazing facts television program I wouldn’t watch it. That has full of bad doctrine. Anyway, the Colossians chapter 2 tells us tells us what happened here. Christ, it says in verse 13, you being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh hath he quickened or resurrected together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses.
So you’re totally forgiven. Then it says, blotting up the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, it to his cross and having spoil principalities and powers, he made a show of them openly, tramphing over them in it. Let no man therefore judge you in meat or in drink or in respect of a holy day or of the new moon or of the Sabbath. All of those things, it says in verse 17, were a shadow of things to come but the bodies of Christ.
So basically, Jesus Christ fulfilled the law and nailed it to his cross and took it out of the way. You know, Christ back on the first day of the… He also, on the next major appearance, was the eighth day that was a Sunday. Pentecost, the beginning of the church age, began on a Sunday. It always falls on Sunday. And if you read the book of Acts, the early church met on Sunday. And then if you read in the epistles, in 1 Corinthians 16 it says, they met on the first day of the week.
So the Christians from the get-go began to worship on Sunday. It’s not something that the Roman Catholic Church developed later. This has been right through right from the very beginning of Christianity when Christ rose from the dead and Pentecost began on Sunday in the early Christians met on Sunday. But we’re not under the Old Testament law and I’m afraid they’re sitting in their bad teaching and I think it is 7-day Adventist in origin because this amazing facts guy is exactly that.
And I do thank you for calling in and if you read Exodus 31 that whole chapter tells us that the law was of course given to Israel, but the Sabbath was uniquely given to Israel, not the Gentiles, and it was given to Israel as a sign between God and Israel throughout all their generations. We have to go to break, and so we’re going to now go to break, come back in just a minute with another half hour Bibleline, so don’t go away.

Well I happen to be out at the very moment when he dropped in and I missed him but he talked to my Secretary and I talk to him later on the phone but when you come by I hope I’m here to meet you because we do want you to come by on a worship day or during the week in our visit our Resource Center but how wonderful it is to have people coming in from all around the country that listen to Bible and wherever they might be hearing it and we’re excited about that.
We’re gonna go to Brian right now in Richmond Virginia by the way that phone number is 1-800-57637 and Brian in Richmond, Virginia. Welcome to Bibleline. Brian, you’re on the Earth. Thank you, Dr. Munshroom. Thank you for your ministry. I was calling and wanted to get more clarity. If you can expound on James 2 and 14 for me where it says, though a man say he has faith and has not works, can faith save him. and I just wanted to, if you could just put them on that and give me your interpretation of that and I’m going to hang up so I can listen.
Okay. Thank you Brian, listening right now in Richmond, Virginia. And in James too, this is not talking about being saved from hell. You’ll notice James is talking to believers. He says throughout the book, my brethren, my brethren, my brethren, my brethren, my brethren, and in verse 14 of James 2 he says, what did the prophet my brethren? He’s talking the believers. Also he uses the word prophet. He says, what did the prophet? You’ll never find salvation being profit. The Bible without exception presents salvation as the gift of God, which is already been purchased by God and is given to us and we receive it by faith.
So when we trust Christ we receive eternal life. He’s talking here about having rewards and It’s talking about the judgment seat of Christ. Let me back you up to verse 12 Brian where it says in James to 12 so speak ye and so do ye as They that shall be judged by the law of liberty Let’s talk about Christians standing before the judgment of Christ that we are under this law of liberty that means that we can choose what we want to do.
As we choose to do right and live for Christ and be faithful to His Word, God is one day going to hold us accountable and will be rewarded according to what we have done. So James 2 is saying, what prophet are you going to have? If you say you have faith but you don’t have works, it says, can faith save you? And it’s really saying here, can it save you from the consequences of the judgment of Christ? What are those consequences?
If you don’t have any works, you’re not going to have any rewards. So there’s going to be embarrassment, there’s going to be a shameless, there’s going to be loss of reward, there’s going to be tears, there’s going to be regret, there’s going to be sorrow, my friend, you will not escape those consequences if you don’t have any works as a Christian. James is telling Christians to get off their blessed assurance and start doing something for God. In chapter 1, he already had said, it’s the doer of the word that is blessed in his deed.
What you do for God after your save will bring about blessings the rewards not only in this life, but in eternity you will be rewarded and we’re going to stand before the Lord and give an account and it says in James 2.12 that, so speak ye and so do ye as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty. So it’s talking about at that judgment, can you escape the consequences negatively if you haven’t done any works? James is saying you can’t.
So he’s trying to get Christians who recognize the need of serving. He’s not talking here about how to be saved. And that’s where most people go wrong. James later on in verse 23 teaches salvation by Faith Without Works. He quotes Genesis 15, 6, which is also quoted in Romans chapter 4. It’s quoted in Galatians chapter 3. And here in the most strange place to find it quoted in the sense, it’s quoted in James 2 because James want you to know that you say by faith it quotes here that Abraham believed God and it was imputed unto him for righteousness.
And so Abraham was made righteous before God by faith alone. And then he picks out an incident, some 40 years later in Abraham’s life where he was justified before men and as a consequence had profit or rewards in heaven for eternity because of his being willing to offer up his son Isaac. You know when Abraham got saved, James is referencing in James 2.23, Abraham didn’t even have a son. He had not had ishmael or Isaac. He was saved before he had any children and we find here that God saved him by faith in in what Christ would do for him.
We’ve already mentioned that earlier in Galatians chapter 3, it says in verse 16 that he believed on Christ. In verse 8 it says the scripture for seeing that God would justify the nations through faith preached before the gospel of Abraham. Abraham believed the gospel was saved, but then later by his works he showed or demonstrated his faith and that way earned rewards. So I hope that helps. I have an article I’ve written about that. It’s on my website, go to BibleLineMinistries.org, go to at the bottom of the home page and say Dr.
Lindstrom’s articles, then go and look for, and there’s a search engineer. You can just type in fake without works and it’ll pull it up, but it’s called, I think by that title, Faith Without Works or James 2.14, I think. But go ahead and check that out and I go into great detail about that whole chapter of James for you there. Thanks for that call. We now have Ken in Clearwater, Florida. And Ken, welcome to Bibleline. You are on the air.
Dr. Hank? Yes, sir. Hi. I’ve got, I had someone, I recommend a book for me to read by John Orpberg. Can you comment on him and also, have you heard the phrase of contemplative prayer and spiritual formation, things like that? And if so, could you comment on those also? I don’t know who that author is again. What is his name? John Ortberg, he used to be with Will Creek, I will say that, and he was a menopresspaterian church out in California.
And I know there’s a lot of Christians that are reading his material and it’s false doctrine. And I didn’t know if you knew anything about that. I haven’t come across him as is yet, but definitely I’ll keep my ears tuned to that. some of these phrases are not phrases you’ll find in the Bible and I can’t frighten me when you have to have these fancy words to define something that’s so simple in the Bible but it doesn’t even sound if you use a phrase like that that is talking about biblical prayer.
It honestly isn’t. I would suggest that I know that I’m starting to hear that’s more and more in Christian circles of what I would, what I would are weaker Christians. They’re being swept up in this kind of stuff and I know that it goes along with the emerging church. Of course, I already mentioned Willard Creek. Yes. But you might go online and check out John Wurkburg and also contemplative prayer. You’ll find that it is throwing us back to the dark ages and it’s wrapped up in the the eastern religions of meditation that they open their minds up and you know when you open up your mind you’re allowed Satan to influence it.
We’ve been told in the scriptures that guard our hearts and that’s exactly what we need to do. Well absolutely and I’m a thank you for tipping me off I will definitely do my homework. I know on the Will Creek website if you read their doctoral statement they say that if If you begin a relationship with Jesus Christ and you are pleased to continue that relationship until the day you die, then God will be pleased to continue that relationship into eternity.
But it says if you begin a relationship with Jesus Christ and you are not pleased to continue that relationship until you die, then God will not continue that relationship into eternity. In other words, basically it works for salvation. Yeah, absolutely. Oh, that’s just incredible. And of course, I’ve been hearing about Little Creek for years, but to think that people are following this kind of stuff is just astounding to me. It’s actually false doctrine big time and amazing how people just aren’t checking out things from the Bible.
you know now you’re right and then and i’m glad that the limit is just god check out contemplative prayer and and you can go on all kinds of things brian flinn is actually someone who’s very intelligent about this kind of stuff because he was a new age medium and he said it is exactly the same thing that he was taught uh… as a medium in that manner can you spell that author’s last name for me uh… brian flinn f Oh, no, I got that one, but the other would be author of the book.
Ortberg John Ortberg O-R-T-B-E-R-G. Okay. Ortberg E-R-G. Thank you so much. All right. Thank you. I appreciate your minister, Dr. Hank. Keep up the good work. Thank you, Ken, for alerting us here. I, yeah, just you could just tell by the terms I use, it doesn’t sound biblical. and that’s too bad. We have Mike up in Brookstill, Wisconsin calling in and Mike, welcome to the Bible and program. Hi. Hi Dr. Anker, this is Mike. Yeah, Mike. Thanks for calling. Yeah, I’m from one of your people from Israel, Israel trip this last month.
We had a wonderful time. Yes, we did. Okay, I have a question for you. A friend of mine sees me at break time every day reading my Bible and he asked me, how well do I know the book? I said, well, I like I think I know what pretty good and he said well was Mary’s mother’s name and I was just listening last night and then I finished up this morning because I had to go to work. CD set on a menu.
Yes. And I was looking at the first disc and you said that Mary’s mother’s name was Ann or Anna? Yes. Where do you get that from in the Bible? Well, I don’t know if it’s in the Bible, but it’s certainly tradition. You’ll find that it seems to be no disagreement about that. So we’ll have to wait and see. I gave him your disc on the genealogy because I was looking to a sermon of yours. Yeah. on the genealogy I think is from December of 05.
And we have to look that up. You know what is interesting and I had a friend tell me this this week he said and I love this because it’s so true. It says you have to keep your rate of learning greater than your rate of forgetfulness in moving forward as a Christian. I have put a ton in my head, but I lose things out the back in sometimes and I have to go back and relive that up about Ann.
Ann, or Anna? I think it’s Anna. Anna, okay. Yeah, but we’ll find out in heaven for sure, but I think I could probably find that for you. Okay, because I didn’t have an answer on it. You said that’s not fair that the Bible mentions all the men all the time in the genealogies, but they don’t mention women. You don’t mention certain important women in the scriptures, but they don’t mention all the women that were married to these guys, you know?
Well, that’s true. That’s true. Well, that’s why it wasn’t all day. They just didn’t do that. Exactly. Well, you know, you talk about the principal character there, and the women are certainly important, but not necessarily to the story that’s being presented in the scripture. In those particular instances. Well, thank you, Mike. And I’d like to, like I said, I’d like to find out where that is, because I’d like to answer from that. I know the Catholic Church all teach that Anne is the mother of Mary.
But they don’t know necessarily. If you study about the Immaculate Conception, you see the Immaculate Conception has to do with Anne and the fact that she gave birth to Mary, that she immaculately conceived a sinless woman and Mary never sinned. I often talk to Catholics that work about that. And of course that’s not true. Mary confessed in Luke 147 that she was a sinner. In fact, she had the trust in Jesus for her own salvation. So that’s certainly a false teaching.
I think somebody came up with that idea to try to explain the sinlessness of Christ. That Mary, when a lot of people think about the American conception, they think it’s about the Virgin Earth of Christ. That’s not. That’s the thing I get to Catholic from, because I ask them, feast day everyday and your calendar, your Catholic calendar, but for the Immaculate Conception I said what is that? No, they’ll tell me that means that Jesus, you know, she was an equity conceit of Jesus.
I said no. I said you better go find somebody and go ask them because they come back a couple days later and tell me I’m right, you know, because they didn’t even know that. I know it, I know it. A lot of Catholics don’t really know what the church teaches but They do teach that Mary’s mother conceived her without sin. And like you sit on your desk too, like how far back you have to go then. Yeah, right. And that’s just pushing back the problem of how Mary was, or how Jesus was sinless all the way back to who knows how far back.
And I’m just going to go back to Eve. Yeah, there you go. Well Mike, thank you for calling in. Alright. Interesting discussion. The Mary of the Bible that was the mother of the flesh that God took upon himself. It is believed her name, her mother’s name was Anna or Anne. We now have Sue in Lansing, Michigan and welcome to Vileine. Thank you, Dr. Lindstrom. I was listening to Woodrow Pearl and he was talking about the Rapture and he was saying that I know that you believe that we’ll be ratcheted.
I won’t be here for the tribulation, but he was saying that the Christians would be here because there’s a scripture and new testament and it says that the days will be cut short so that even the elect won’t stop believing. And would you just comment on that, helping us? Sure. All right. I’m really surprised about that with Woodrow Crow. I thought he was really very sound on it. He’s talking, I’m sure, Sue, in Matthew 24 is the only reference I know of that would use those phrases or that word.
It says in Matthew 24 that, for them shall be great tribulation. This is verse 21. For them shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world, to this time no nor shall ever be. That’s the last three and a half years of the tribulation period and except those days should be shortened There should no flesh be saved It’s talking about Christ cutting off the tribulation period at just seven years of length if he didn’t at the Battle of Armageddon If it was allowed to continue, all life on the planet would have been extinguished.
But for the elect’s sake, those days shall be shortened. Now here’s the problem and apparently if you heard him correctly, he’s assuming because we have elect after the rapture or believers after the rapture that those are the believers that were around before the rapture and who entered into the tribulation period. That’s certainly not true. The elect here are those who became saved after the rapture. And this is confused some of those people who don’t know where they stand on whether they’re post-trib or pre-trib or whatever or mid-trib.
But you have to recognize that all the blabbers are taken out of the rapture and only unbelievers are left behind. That’s quite clear in all the passages about the rapture. But after After the Rapture, millions are going to get saved through the evangelism of the 144,000. It says in Revelation 7, 4, I heard the number of them that were sealed and it tells us 144,000 Jewish men will be the evangelist. And then in verse 9 it says, I saw a great multitude which no man could number of all nations and kinners and tongues which were saved as a result of their evangelism.
So those are the elect is talking about. is talking about after the rapture during the tribulation millions will be saved and for their sake those days will be cut short because God has a program on the earth a thousand year kingdom where Christ will rule on this earth and he’s not going to allow Armageddon to go further than it should or could I guess and then he’ll cut it off and then he’ll set up his kingdom here on the earth.
Thank you for listening up there in Lansing, Michigan, and we’re glad to be on the air up there in your city. Thanks for calling in today. We have Bill in Tampa, Florida, who leaves an off-air question with us. He says, can you give reference to we are not of those who shrink back to perdition also the meaning. That’s in Hebrews 1039. It’s a great eternal security verse because it says we can draw back. I don’t know what translation you’re using.
It doesn’t use the word shrink in the King James, but it uses the phrase drawback. It says we are none of them which drawback into perdition, that’s hell, but we are of that group that believe to the saving of the soul. In other words, once you are saved, you’re saved forever. And even though you can backslide or drawback or as in your translation, shrink back, we aren’t going to ever be able to backslide into health. Once you’re a Christian, once you’re saved, once you have eternal life, you have it forever and ever and ever.
So the whole chapter there deals with the fact that there are not no consequences as a result. If you don’t serve the Lord, you’ll lose that on reward. Also, you’ll have God’s chastisement or discipline come upon your life but even though you draw back there are consequences but also you it’s impossible for you ever to draw back into hell or shrink back into hell you’ll never go to hell once you’re saved that’s the whole point there we have Larry in Seminole Florida and Larry welcome to Bible I know you are Reverend Langston yes I’m calling to make a comment we’ll tell you first of all I I have prayed for you.
But the Communist about the gifts of the Spirit, Corinthians 14 to the Bible says, for he that’s speaking in an unknown tongue, speaketh not unto men, but unto God. For no man understandeth him, how urban is Spirit, he speak of mysteries. And that’s why it’s gibberish to you. In 1 Corinthians 14, 39 says, where for brethren, they had not to speak with tongues. We’re not supposed to prevent this. There’s a period there. It doesn’t say until the Bible is published or whatever.
OK, let me go back and explain. In Corinth, they were misusing the real gift. And what it’s saying there in verse 2 is that if you are in the church in Corinth, you should be speaking Greek. And because these were acting like babies and using a real known foreign language gift, which is what tongues is all about, in the church in Corinth, then nobody will understand you. only God because you’re speaking the wrong language and it’s clear there that it’s unknown to the here because nobody there in the church understands it and then he goes on to say you ought to be speaking in a language which is understood.
Verse 9 says, except you speak by the tongue words easy to be understood. Nobody knows what you’re saying. You’re just speaking to the air which is exactly what verse 2 is talking about. I’m out of time and Larry I wish I could continue this discussion with you. We’ll have to do it tomorrow. Thanks for tuning in today. I hope you’ll watch our TV program tonight at 630 on Direct TV nationwide at 7 on the CPN. Christian Network here in the West Coast of Florida.

That really is an encouragement, because we’d love to hear from you. Tell us what you think. And not all of our flattering, by the way, we get some that have foul language, and they’re not too happy with Bible-ign. But we’re not going to be pleasing everybody. In fact, Christ said, be where when all men speak well of you. So obviously we’re going to not have everybody speak well about us and we wish everybody could. But the Bible says in Timothy that if you’re going to be godly, you will suffer persecution.
And certainly that is what happens when you stand up for the truth and there will be Satan’s opposition for sure. Pray for us. We really covet your prayers here, Bibleline. So we need your financial support. If you could help us, it would be wonderful. We’re not trying to get your money. But my goodness, we’re going out there further than most. And if you looked at our budget as versus what we’re doing, we really have been blessed of God because we’re right out there to the limit. And we’ve stretched ourselves to the limit, trusting that God will supply through people just like you.
