You can click on the spinning globe and you’ll get the radio programs in archive for about a year I guess and plus you can hear all these last programs and today’s program as often as you like. If you’re listening to the Tampa Bay area we’re on seven days a week. You can hear us Saturday and Sunday at 10 o’clock in the morning also. We certainly hope that you’ll take advantage of all these different ways of catching Bibleline at different times of day and of course tell your friends in other countries, missionaries in other countries about how they can tune into Bibleline and get these programs plus much more.
Our television programs, our worship services and we hope that you’ll attend church someplace this weekend. If you’re in the Tampa Bay area, you’re welcome to come at 9.15 and join me for my morning adult class. Then if you come at 10.30 you’re welcome to come to the worship service. And of course at 6 p.m. in the evening we have another service. We’re studying the book of Acts. You’re certainly welcome to come. We’d love to have you come by. We’d love to meet you.
And we have people coming from all over. We had a visitor this week all the way from New York who listens up there in Utica, New New York. And so we love really meeting our listeners and we’re so grateful when they come by and say hi. Our resource center is open every day till about 4.30 in the afternoon. You’re welcome to come by and check it out and take a look at all the things that we have. The nice thing about our resource center is that we recommend what we have here and I know in the average Christian bookstore you have a large array of things.
Some things are not doctrinally sound. I know I bought thousands of books and most of them I feel are not worth the paper they’re printed on. And I’ve found that out the hardware. I remember as a brand new believer spending my hard-earned money whenever I had. I didn’t have much, but I’d always invest in books. And sometimes I was disappointed after I got into them that it really wasn’t that sound or that worthwhile to me. So we recommend in our resource center those things that I have found to be most helpful to you and I hope you’ll take advantage.
Call if you like and we’ll send you a resource sheet or you can of course look on the internet and our website to the online bookstore that’s BibleLineMinistries.org.com. And of course if you cannot come to our worship service we understand and certainly you can join by way of internet. We webcast our worship service. You can catch the past several months where the service is sitting there. But you can also go live on Sunday morning between 11 and 12. If you will just click on the camera on the home page, you’ll find that on Sunday morning around 11 o’clock you’ll see clouds going by.
You’ll hear the Orogate Cross. cross and when I begin the message, the audio and the video will come up and you’ll be able to watch the worship service. By the way, you can get that to be full screen too, which is kind of neat. If you didn’t know that, I think you’ll right click on the picture and it’ll say one of the options is full screen, click on that and you fill up the whole screen. If you have a large monitor, you can have a whole audience there or your whole family gathered around.
One gentleman tells me he gathers his whole family. I think for children and mom and dad when they can’t get the church here locally, even they come quite a distance. They have the whole family sit in front of the monitor and they make it full screen and they all watch the worship service together. And then in any case, we are glad that we’re out there for you and you can take a look on Sunday morning. Or if you are attending your church, which we hope you are, if you have a good Bible teaching church, that you could then anytime at your leisure during the week, you could go ahead and take a look at these programs.
We’re going to take a look at the Bible today and then we’ll go of course to the callers today. callers today. We already have people calling in and we have offer questions and we’ll take your live call in question. By the way, if you go to the internet, an easy way to leave a question off air is to click on that spinning globe and the page that comes up will have a place all ready to go where you just type in your question, hit submit and boom, we’ll have it and we’ll be putting that up on the air and answering your question.
You can also call in and leave an offer a question or you can call in and wait and get up on the air with us. We hope you’ll do that. You know today there are so many different confusing ideas that are presented that are not really biblical and that bothers me. I don’t know if it bothers you but what really bothers me is that oftentimes they deal with salvation and if that be the case then people are being misled into Christ’s said in 2023 about the religious leaders of this time that they were not only not going to heaven themselves, but they were hindering others from going to heaven because they gave out bad doctrine.
One of those doctrines is that you have to publicly confess Christ in order to be saved. And that is not true. That would be works. If you didn’t know anything about how to defend that from the Bible, you could certainly know that according to Bible salvation is not of works. Ephesians 2 8 says it is not of yourself and obviously if you had the publicly confessed Christ that would be of yourself, it would be a work and obviously salvation therefore would be by works which the Bible says it is not.
And the Bible in fact teaches that if you add any works to Christ then you will not be saved. It says In Galatians 5, 4, Christ has become of no effect unto you, no effect. Any of you or whosoever of you that are justified by works or by the law, you are the ones that are fallen from grace. A safe person doesn’t fall from grace. A lost person does by not accepting salvation by grace. They attempt to be saved by works or a combination of Christ plus works, and the Bible says Christ will count nothing for them.
Congratulations, 5.4. Can you imagine standing before God and have Christ count zero for you? That’s scary. Well, you know, that’s exactly what the Bible warns against, and it bothers me that I hear preaching where you have to confess Christ publicly to go to heaven. One of the passages used is over there in Matthew chapter 10. I’m turning there right know in my Bible, but Jesus here sends out his disciples. The first four verses he lists here his twelve disciples.
And then we find in verse five these twelve Jesus sent forth. So he sends them out and he tells them to preach. And we find that he warns them that They are not going to be necessarily well received and that they are not to let that hinder them, that they are to not fear those who would maybe even kill their body. Verse 28 I love this verse, it says, fear not them which can kill the body but are not able to kill the soul.
Isn’t that a great verse? In other words your soul will never die. Man was created as a living soul, it says back in Genesis and that means your soul will live on forever, either in heaven with the Lord or in hell separated from God forever and ever and ever. So you are an ever living soul from conception and your soul will live on into eternity. And it’s vital. It’s vital that while you’re living, you come to know Jesus as your Savior and if you don’t according to the Bible at death, you will not be able to escape going to hell.
Every unbeliever, everyone who is without Christ will go to hell and spend all eternity there. So it’s vitally important to become saved and the only condition for salvation according to the Bible is to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. And of course the Greek word, pastuo, translated believe, p-i-s-t-e-u-o means trust to rely upon to put your confidence in the rest your weight upon when you trust Christ. That’s when you become saved. It’s amazing how many people will say yes if you ask them the question, do you believe in Jesus?
The Mormons will say yes, the Jehovah’s Witnesses will say yes. But you know when you ask the other question, do you trust Jesus Christ to take it to heaven? They’ll say no. Because you see all of the works-based religious people out there, whether they claim to be Christian or their members of some cult, all say they believe in Jesus, but they don’t say that they trust Jesus to get you to heaven. And of course, that is the major difference.
Well, in any case here, we are to want to live for the living God and to share the gospel with others. But in verse 32, Jesus says in this wonderful passage in Matthew 10, whose whoever therefore shall confess me before men. He is talking here to people that are already saved. He is talking here about his disciples. He sends 12 out. He names the right name. They are the ones that he is sending out. He says, Who is there for sure confess me before men?
Him, I confess also before my Father, which is in heaven. But who is there for sure? Summary redesitored« before my Father, which is in heaven. What is that talking about? It’s talking about the Christian life. It’s talking about rewards. If you follow right after these verses, you’ll find the word reward used five times. It’s talking about earning rewards polygamy based upon witnessing or confessing Christ to the lost as a believer.XXX We all ought to do that. That’s the great commission.
We’re to go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. But I hear of If Annalists tell me or tell you when you listen to their programs that if you do not confess Christ, if you deny me before men, it says I’ll deny you before the Father. And what they say is that you’ll not be saved, that he will deny you before the Father and you won’t be saved. It’s not saying that. It’s not saying that.
Basically what it’s saying is if you witness for Christ as a believer, Jesus will acknowledge up to the Father and you’re going to get rewarded for your faithfulness in witnessing and sharing Christ. But if you deny Christ before men, then Christ really has to deny saying anything about you to the Father. He can’t say, wow, you did a great job when you didn’t. He can’t say that you were witnessing or confessing Christ when you weren’t. And so basically you’re going to be also therefore denied reward.
It’s not talking about salvation. The Bible talks about people that got saved but never did confess Christ. They were saved. If you read over in John’s gospel, it’s quite clear that there were many that did trust Christ but did not confess Christ. Amazingly, nobody ever talks about these passages it seems. Here it tells us in John chapter Chapter 12, verse 42. Nevertheless, among the chief rulers also, many believe on him. Stop that word, believe again as the Greek word, pastuo, it means to trust many trusted on Christ.
Matthew, I mean, rather John’s Gospel, chapter 12, verse 42. Nevertheless, among the chief rulers, these were leaders. Many of them believed on him. But now read carefully in John 1242, but because of the Pharisees they did not confess Him. They did not confess Him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue, for they love the praise of men more than the praise of God. Notice, confession has to do with the Christian life. It has to do with rewards.
It has to be based upon what do you really want more out of life? Do you want the praise of men or do you want the praise of God? If you are a believer, you should want to have the praise of God. If you want to have the praise of God, then you ought to be a witness for Christ and confess Christ after you are saved. But if you want the praise of men more than the praise of God, or the rewards that God will give you as a Christian, then you are going to keep your mouth shut because you want men to praise you.
That’s all I was talking about here. And notice carefully in John 12, we have people here that were high up in positions In the leadership of Israel, it says, Nevertheless, among the chief rulers, also many believed on him, there was a bunch of them that got saved. But because of the Pharisees, they did not confess Him. They did not confess Him why they didn’t want to be kicked out of the synagogue. They loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.
I believe there’s a lot of Christians that are keeping their mouths shut. I know what that’s like. I got saved and for a year I was a secret believer. I didn’t tell anybody. I didn’t tell anybody. Nobody knew. My sister who had worked on me for a whole year would have been ecstatic to find out the night that I trusted Christ that I had. I didn’t want to tell her. She would have told the world at that point. I didn’t want anybody to know.
And for a wholeideo. I worked as a secret believer. Nobody knew that I knew the Lord as my Savior. But God did. I did. And God brought me to the place where I finally dedicated my life to Christ. I then said, I will witness for Christ, I will confess Christ. But I knew I was saved before I ever did that, and I didn’t have to do that to be saved. But it really had to do with what I thought people would think about me.
And it was all about me, and it was very selfish of me to keep this message to myself. I finally decided, I want to please God more than I want to please men, and therefore I began to open up my mouth and witness for Christ. I want to go to one more passage. This is the one that is most often used Romans 10-9. It says, if you believe in your heart that Jesus or confess, Romans 10-9 says, if thou shall confess with thy mouth, the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Now I don’t believe you can read verse 9 without verse 10. This 10 tells us that with the heart or the mind, really, man, believeth unto righteousness. So when you believe or trust, you are made, righteous in God’s sight and therefore you’re saved. But then it says with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation. So once we believe we’re made righteous and confession has nothing to do with it. But then we make with our mouth a confession and that’s witnessing on both sides of this passage it demands that interpretation.
It’s talking about preaching the word. It says in verse 8, the word is nigh unto thee, even in thy mouth and in thy heart. That is the word of faith which we what? Preach. It’s talking about preaching. It’s talking about witnessing. The same thing in Matthew chapter 10, the same thing that the rulers did not confess in in John 12 because they love the praise of men more than the praise of God and it’s talking about preaching and you’ll further down and says whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved and then it says how shall they call on him in whom they have not believed.
So somebody has to tell them. So on both sides of Romans 10 and 10 it’s talking about the Christian life is talking about witnessing, it’s talking about contesting before men and obviously everybody brought to do that. But it doesn’t get you saved. It’s not a part of the Salvation Plan. And verse 10 explains that very clearly with the mind, the heart, really the mind is the real meaning of that word from the Greek. And with the mind you believe and you’re made righteous, but then with your mouth you witness as a believer to lost.
And how can they hear except we bring the message to them and that’s what it’s all about. I’m Dr. Engvenstrum, Bibleline and we’re going to go to the phone lines in just a moment. We hope you’ll give us a call 1-800-576-3771. But you know, this is bad, bad teaching and I know I’ve been in many meetings where they would ask you to confess Christ publicly or you would go to hell. And some of those crusades that I’ve been to, they would tell the people that and have them come forward as they apparently equated confessing Christ with walking down to the field in the stadium where the crusade was held.
But then at the same time they would turn to the TV audience and tell those folks that they’d save right where they were. I didn’t understand the double standard. I’d watch that and I I would say, wow, the poor people in the stands are penalized and they have to walk forward and walk out onto the field or they won’t be saved and yet the people at home can get saved right on their sofa and not go anywhere. It seems like people don’t do much thinking that sometimes they’re preaching and they obviously get this wrong when they say you have to publicly confess Christ to be saved.
You don’t. You need to trust Christ to be saved when you do. You’re saved forever. We’re going to go to Mac down in Pace, Florida. And Mac, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Yes, Dr. Lynch. It’s my understanding that when Jesus returns and sets up his kingdom, he’s going to build a temple in Jerusalem. He’s going to rule from that temple. Will the Jews be required to resume animal sacrifices during the millennium? The answer is yes, and Christ won’t really build the temple.
It’s going to be built before He comes. The Bible tells us in Malachi, He will return suddenly. The temple will be built right after the rapture. We had with us last year Gershaun Solomon from Israel, lives in Jerusalem, and he and his organization have been cutting the stones and preparing the stones for the rebuilding of the third temple. I believe as soon as we’re raptured, a political decision will be made in Israel to allow that temple to be rebuilt, and blood sacrifices will be reinstituted, and Christ at the end of the tribulation period will come suddenly to that temple and cleans it.
It will have been desecrated by the antichrist. In the middle of the tribulation, he goes into that temple, and according to 2 Thessalonians chapter 2 verse 4, he will make a proclamation that he is God and demand to be worshipped. When Christ comes back, he of course will cleanse it, and then he will, I believe, improve that temple or refurbish it. And it will be the most spender of all, greater than Solomon’s, but Christ will come back to a temple that is already standing.
And then he will make it more beautiful once he comes back. But yes, they will have sacrifices in the Millennium as well, and those will be memorial in nature, not in order to gain salvation. The one sacrifice of Christ purchased that, but these will be more like the word supper. It’s a reminder of the sacrifice that Christ made for us at the cross and the word supper doesn’t save us. Alright, thank you. You’re welcome, Max. And, Max, rather, we now have Rod calling in from Charles City, Virginia.
Rod, welcome to Bibleline You Are On The Air. Yes, my name is Rodney. I’m calling from Charles City, Virginia. Yes, sir. I’m wondering if you know anything about the Dakes Bible. I know a lot of people here, mostly Pentecostals and Charismatic, they all use the Dakes Bible. I know you read the old scope field with the references, but the Dakes also have the references. I don’t know if they conflict or not. Good question and I have a Dakes Bible straight ahead of me on my bookshelf.
It’s about five feet from my hand. But you have to be careful with the Dakes and I notice most people who have bad doctrine use the Dakes Bible because he has lots of wonderful lists and I have found that if you’re discerning you can use it and find there’s some wonderful things in there. But he also believes you can lose your salvation. I think he has a list in there of 214 things you can do to lose your salvation.
So obviously Mr. Dake didn’t get it right because obviously that’s a major doctrinal error to say you can lose your salvation. But I like it. I have it on my shelf and I use it on occasion. But a lot of the notes are wrong. And the same thing is true in the Thompson chain Bible. I don’t use that because the notes, many of them are wrong. If you are not really skilled in your Bible, you will be misled by the notes that they have.
The Thompson chain isn’t a good chain because it will lead you off track and put you in the ditch. What I like about the Scofield is that the notes are very consistent and the chain, and by the way there is a chain reference system in the Scofield Bible and it’s very accurate. So I would recommend the Scofield for sure, but yes, I’m familiar with the Diggs Bible and be careful if you have it. It certainly got bad doctorate in it.
So you have to watch out. The notes are not good. No, some of the notes are good. Some of the notes are good. Thank you, Rod. And when I was a good question, then I have the Diggs Bible right here in front of me. We have Moel, if I’m pronouncing that right, in Clearwater and welcome to my blind. Dr. Yes, you’re on the air. Yeah, no, I’m here. I’m concerned about when you mention that there will be animal sacrifice once again, after the rapture.
When I learned it, Jesus, the sacrifice was pointing to the Lamb of God Christ himself. I’m driving so I’ll hang up and listen to you on the radio. Well, I understand what you’re thinking and what you’re saying, because obviously the Bible is very clear. that Christ offered one sacrifice for sins forever and it says in Hebrews 1014 by one sacrifice if sanctified forever the ones that are believers so we’re saved forever based upon that one time sacrifice But if you read Ezekiel Especially a chapter 40 alright till the very end of the Ezekiel it talks about the millennial temple Christ coming back to it and how that there will be But he sacrifices offered again and they will be memorial in nature.
Simply reminders. You know, what a memorial service is. That’s where you’re reminded of that loved one who died and you bring out things about that person and you remember them and you obviously spend time focusing on that person who had lived and died. Well, obviously the sacrifices will do the same in the millennium. This will be remembering Christ’s death, but here he will be risen from the dead and living in the dead. among the people on the earth here for that thousand years.
So I hope that helps explain it for you and I understand people having a little bit of difficulty with it, but the Bible certainly teaches it and so we have to go with that. While the time goes quickly and we’re coming up here on the break and I hope everybody listening has trusted Christ alone apart from any human work like human confession, baptism, confirmation, prayers, penance, mass, none of those things will save you. You don’t want to add them to trusting in Christ because that would mean Christ would count nothing for you.
You have to trust Christ and Christ alone in order to be saved. This is Friday. I hope you will attend church someplace this weekend. You can come by and see us. Or if you live in another city, you can join us live on the internet for our worship service. But also you can catch those worship services anytime you please go to the internet BibleLineMinistries.org. You haven’t given a gift for this month of June to Bibleline would you call in and leave one by credit card or get an envelope sent to you with our address and mail in a gift to Bibleline.
Hey we’re going to break. Don’t go away. We’ll be right back in just a minute with Bibleline Part 2. Don’t go away. line will be back in a moment. Give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Alright, this is Dr. Englund’s for a minute. It’s wonderful to be able to be with you. We’ve had fun all week long. And if you don’t want that fun to end, you can go to the Internet and catch these programs again. And again, and again, as often as you like, what I like about the Internet is you can go there and you can fast forward me.
You can back me up. You can pause me and you can take your Bible and set it out and kind of work your way through portions which you want to look at more carefully and look up the references that we give and do a Bible study. A lot of people tell me they do that and that’s exciting. We also want to thank all of you who pray for us. We really do come at your prayers and we thank God for all of you who tell us that you listen on a regular basis and you really pray every day for Bibleline, we know that you are because we sense that God’s blessing and presence is here with us here at Bibleline.
God is using this program and we thank God for every one of you. If you could help us financially, that would also be great because we need partners. We have no other way of supporting these programs except by the gifts of the people that listen. And that’s God’s plan. And it’s always been that way. God wants others to share in the work and in the blessings of the work. You certainly see that in the Old Testament, you see it in the New Testament.
And if you wanna be a partner with us in keeping Bible and on the air, we know that you’re gonna share in the rewards that come as a result of Bible and in the ministry that it’s carrying out across the world. You can do that by credit card. You can call 1-800-576-3771 and operators will be glad to take a gift over the telephone or we can also send you an unbook with our address printed on it and you can mail in your gift by mail to Bible and plus you can order many, many, many of the other products and resources that we have.
We have many of the tapes that I’ve done. We have many, many of the tapes on CDs or teachings on CDs and we also have them on DVD. So call in and get a resource sheet sent to your. Just go to the website BibleLineMinistries.org and click on the online bookstore and see what’s there and you can order directly off of that. We got a run where we’re going to do the second half of Bibleline and you can catch that on the internet if you’re stationed as it carries the second half but most will We are going to rejoin stations now that have been on break and do the second half so I hope you will join us and stay around for another half hour.
Maybe you have a question, call in and we’ll put it up on the air and that’ll happen in just a couple of seconds here. So hold your radio tight, don’t let it get away. Here we go. Would you like to call Bibleline and ask Dr. Lindstrom a question? You can just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Now here again is Dr. Hank Lindstrom. All right, we’re back from that break. This is Bibleline. I’m Dr. Hank Lindstrom and we’re coming to you live from Tampa, Florida.
From our studios here at the Calvary Community Church. We’re on the pastor. We look forward to meeting our listeners and if you ever get a chance to come by, our resource center is open every day till about 4.30 afternoon, Monday through Friday and also you can come by on a worship day on a Wednesday or you can come by on a Sunday and we would love to have you come this Sunday. We have an adult class I teach at 9.15 and then the worship service is at 10.30 and we have another evening service at 6 p.m.
where we’re studying the book of Acts. We’d love to have you come. If you live in another city, obviously that’s difficult. So what we do is we have our worship services on the internet. So if you have internet, you can go to BibleLineMinistries.org, click on the camera on the home page and you’ll be connected to the worship service. Now if you go about 11 o’clock, you’ll see clouds streaming across the screen. You’ll hear the old rugged cross and when I begin the message, the audio and the video will come up so you can watch it live.
But obviously if you’re in your own church, which I hope you are, if you have a good Bible church you should be there, then you can watch it at your leisure. We have several months where the worship serves as sitting there in our archive and you can watch them all whenever you want to in the middle of the night or early in the morning or in the evening when you come home from work. Whenever it’s convenient take advantage would you?
Also, we will be teaching you the classes this summer, sometime probably in July, and we’ll go for five weeks, two hours for every Tuesday night, and we haven’t announced the topic yet. We haven’t firmly decided, but we’ll be letting you know. As one lady said, I don’t care what it is, they’re all great, and we certainly appreciate that word of encouragement, but it’s true. Whenever you study the word of God, it’s got to come out great, because it’s the word of God.
That is exactly what we are doing here. We have about 40 of those series already done that we have done over the years and you can get the book of Revelation or the book of Daniel or the book of Jude or the book of Hebrews or the book of Romans or many other Old and New Testament books we have done them. Plus we have done many on different topics like the Holy Spirit, parables, how to lead souls to Christ, balancing the Christian life.
In time controversies Jesus is coming and those were all like on a topic but they are great study aids. I tell you a lot of people tell me they sit down with their Bible and begin to get these teachings of 10 weeks or 12 weeks on CD or DVD and they learn so much and the The nice thing is that you can pause it and then go forward at your pace and really take some good notes in your Bible.
And as though you’re sitting in the classroom with me, and I hope you will, I’ve really taught for three different Bible colleges. I’ve taught for Moody Bible Institute for 11 years. We invite you to join in on these classes that I’ve taught. And of course, get that school field Bible that we keep bragging about because the notes in there are doctorally sound and I know you’ll enjoy it. So call and get a resource sheet sent to you, free of charge or go to the internet and look up online books on the online bookstore and take a look at what we have there and you can find so many things on our website that will keep you busy forever it seems.
We’re going to go to the phone lines in just a minute but if you haven’t sent a gift in for the month of June. Would you help us? We really do depend upon you, our listeners, and we’re not trying to get your money. We really aren’t. We are very frugal as how we spend the money. We spend it to get ourselves out there as far as we can on radio and radio and television to get the gospel out. And we thank God that we have this opportunity.
But. It’s all because of you, the giver. So would you do that? Help us out. Give a gift by credit card over the phone or mail it in and we’ll be glad to send you an envelope if you’d like to do it that way with our address already printed on it. We have Laurie and she’s a Newport Richie and Laurie. Welcome to Bibleline. You’re on the air. Hi. Nice to speak with you. Thank you. Thank you for taking my call.
I was just making a comment wanting to make a comment about the call that was received for the break about the millennial kingdom and the sacrifices. And I heard it peaching, and basically what was explained about that was that when Jesus Christ died and went to heaven, he became the high priest in heaven and the inner sister to our father. And when he comes back during the Millennial Kingdom, he will be reigning as a physical king on earth. And so the sacrifices that we’ll be taking place will be basically a way for the people that are born on earth during a Millennial Kingdom to, you know, that will be their way of getting to the Father.
I’ll hang up and let you comment on that. Thank you. Well, I think it’s going to be a means of worship. And certainly, worship will be centered around what Christ did. And these will be memorial in nature to remind those people of what Christ did. You know, when we come to the Lord’s Supper and have communion, communion is talking about an intimate time of fellowship conversation with the Lord. It is a memorial service. We’re remembering Christ’s death and the elements remind us his body was broken, his blood was shed, and it doesn’t save us any more than the sacrifices of old or the sacrifices of the future save us.
Maybe there’s some confusion here, but nobody was ever saved by a blood sacrifice. The Old Testament sacrifices were also of the same nature. They pointed to Christ. It says in Hebrews 10-4, it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats should take away sin. That means it’s impossible. And so all of that was a picture of what Christ would do and it looked forward to Christ coming and dying, whereas the sacrifices in the future will look back just like the Lord Supper does.
1st Corinthians 11 is often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you show or proclaim or herald the Lord’s death. It looks back till He comes, looks to the future. And so the Lord suffers right now for the Church is the means of being reminded. It is the memorial service that Christians have read to be reminded of Christ’s death for us. But it looks forward to the future because He’s risen. coming back and of course the sacrifices and the money will be of that nature I believe.
Thank you for that input and I thank you for your call. We’re now going to go to Adam and Adam is in Tampa, Florida. Adam, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Yes. My question I was in a study in James and I came across the verse in James chapter 4 verse 5. I was wondering if you can help me explain to me what it means. This is the thing that scripture says in the spirit that dwells in us, lust is to envy.
Well, yes. I mean, obviously God, and lust doesn’t always mean bad. We can lust after good things. You should as a believer lust to be more godly. You should lust to be more knowledgeable of his word. All these things are good desires. The Bible actually uses that word in becoming a leader within Christianity to be a servant of Christ. We ought to lust or desire after that. Certainly, yes, it’s talking exactly about that. The Holy Spirit desires for us to accomplish these things in our own spirit.
The new birth, the new nature lusts after godly things, whereas our old nature lusts after fleshly things. And we have to walk not after the flesh, but after the spirit and follow the desires that the Holy Spirit has for us. So basically the word lust means desire, but it doesn’t always mean a negative lust or negative desire. It can be a positive desire. definitely is talking about the Holy Spirit that God made well enough that that left it to envy.
Yes I believe so. Okay. All right. Thank you. All right. Thank you very much. And that was Adam. We now have David in Sun City Center. And David welcome to Bibleline. Hello. Hi David. Yes. Hank. Yes. You’re on the air. Okay. I wanted to ask you a personal question. Do you know what that could happen yesterday you know what it was June 7th. Tell me. It’s hard to believe. I remember when that war took place and I thought, wow, you know, six days Israel conquered their enemies and brought them to their knees.
And that was really the hand of God on the behalf of this newly formed state of Israel. I think they were just 19 years old as a country when they were engaged in that war. But I think it was a significant event because they got Jerusalem back as long. And as well, they got. I’ve been asked you too that you know it’s 40 years and that’s mentioned somewhere in the Bible. But you said somewhere like 51 years somewhere somebody else had talked about a generation being 51 years.
Could you do you remember when you said that? Yeah I do and that was Jack Van Eppie who talks a lot about prophecy came up with that calculation from Matthew chapter 1. You have the genealogy of Christ and it goes from Abraham the beginning of the nation until Jesus was born. You’ll notice in the listing of the genealogy there, there’s three groups of 14 generations each. So he took the total amount of time between Abraham and Christ divided by three times 14 generations and he came out with 51.5.
It actually makes then the second coming if you add it to 67, the year 2019. you subtract seven years of tribulation the rapture will be in the year two thousand twelve that’s just less than five years away i guess but i don’t know about the setting dates were to be careful but i don’t understand that but uh… what i’m saying is that uh… you didn’t see anything in the media about this at all or anything like that about the uh…
uh… you know the uh… six day war nineteen sixty seven and just one of the quick thing occasion that comes out uh… believes in annihilation theory that once the unsaved dead have been dead, that they are totally annihilated. They remember nothing no more, but I wrote into them and said that’s not true. What you want, you’re dead and you’re unsaved. You live somewhere forever in hell probably, right? Exactly you do and you’re conscious and you’re in torment. It says they will weep and gnash their teeth.
And Jesus said four times in Mark chapter 9 that the soul will never die and the fire will never be quenched. And that’s pretty good. I’ll have to send that into you because it’s a major thing that some of these religions believe in. But anyway, we can celebrate that Jews have got the, and it’ll be a troublesome time for the Jews now because everybody wants Jerusalem. Everybody, the Arabs, I think we’re even going to turn our back on them.
I don’t know. But it’s a troublesome time. God bless you Hank. Thank you David. Alright God bless you. That was David on the Sun City Center Florida. We have now Ishmael in Tampa Florida. Ishmael, welcome to Bibleline your own the air. Hey, how you doing? Good. Is this Mr. No chat? Yes it is. How you doing? God bless you sir. Thank you. I’m calling to ask a question. I’m kind of new into studying and I’ve tried all these Bibles and I just get them but confused on all these things.
Well, join the crowd. There is a lot of confusion out there. And of course, Satan is the author of confusion. And that’s one of the things I think Bible and helps is to clarify things so that you can come out of your confusion. A lot of people are confused about salvation and we try to bring clarity there. But also a lot of people are confused about the Christian life and they just really are manipulated by Satan through many things that are not clear and on target with the Bible.
We’re in a time of apostasy right now where many churches have abandoned their Bibles and they’re not really teaching them. So people are left confused and that’s too bad. Yeah, I’ve got the NIV Bible, the NLP, I’ve got the King James and they all conflict and I don’t understand. Well the NIV is terrible. It’s almost identical to the Jehovah’s Witness Bible. Believe it or not, the NIV drops 44 verses in their entirety and guess what? The Jehovah’s Witness Bible drops the same 44.
Now how is that possible? Then also you’ll find the titles are almost the same the Joe’s witness Bible is called the new world translation the NIV is called the New International version and word for word they both begin with the word new and then they have A new international version and of course, new world. That’s the same. And in version or translation, that’s the same. So they almost have the same title. That’s really one of the worst Bibles, I think, out there.
The new living translation. They just absolutely no good scholarship there at all. They take the word repent. And I’ve noticed every case they must have taken a word processor and put the phrase turn from your sin everywhere the English word repent occurs in that Bible and that’s just absolutely wrong. If they paid any attention to the Greek, the Greek word metanoia means a change of mind. They should have taken a word processor but every time the word repent occurs change your mind or change of mind.
And they just really do great damage. And so that’s why you have these problems. And the King James of all the ones you mentioned is the best. I’m not saying the King James without problems because it has problems as well. But you at least have a history of 400 years of people attacking the King James and all the problems have been pretty much resolved in a good reference Bible like the Scofield are worked right there in the margin. The corrections are made and you’ve got it.
You really got a great tool. The Scofield? Yep, the Scofield. It’s the King James Bible with the notes by Dr. C.I. Schofield and those are excellent. I don’t know if Moody Bible Institute still has it but there was what was called the C.I. Schofield study correspondence course and it took you about two years to complete but when you wrote or signed up to take that class I would send you about five hard volumes of explanation about Schofield’s notes and then the different work manuals and so on and I tell you if you would learn all the notes in the Scofield Bible you would really know your Bible it’s an excellent course and you might check to see if Moody Bible Institute still offers that but wow that’s a great study.
Now you have a church here in Tampa correct? Yes I do. Do you do Bible classes? Absolutely. I would love to come and see a Bible class I think you are phenomenal with your knowledge man. Well thank you we’d love to have you Come and of course, Sunday morning check me out. I teach a class at 9.15 for adults and then we have the worship service that I teach during the service at 10.30. So come on out and check us out.
Okay. All right. Thank you so much Ishmael in Tampa, Florida. We now have Carl down in Riverview, Florida and Carl welcome to Bibleline you’re on the year. Oh yes. I wanted to make a comment and make sure I got it right. He was an Nicodemus of secret Christian and the other guy, the one that got Jesus’s body from Pilate. Wasn’t these two guys a secret Christian? Yeah, they pretty much kept it in the cover. Nicodemus, of course, the night he got saved, it came to Jesus by night, it says, in John 3.
That’s because he didn’t want anybody to see him come and talk to Jesus. And while what a discussion that was, and Jesus told him how he had to have a second birth, a new birth, and told him how to have it in John 3 16. This whole verse is Jesus leading Nicodemus to Christ. He says Nicodemus, God so loved the world, including you, that he gave his only begotten son, as Jesus himself there, speaking to him, that whosoever Nicodemus, if you would believe or trust in Christ, Nicodemus you would not perish, but Nicodemus you would have everlasting life.
one of my favorite passages and it’s all about the cadence coming secretly by night and he pretty much stayed undercover for quite a while how about the gentleman that i got the body from from pilot uh… joseph of our mathia and uh… i think uh… these were all kind of quiet but they stepped up to the plate at the death of christ to take care of the body and prepared for barrel get it in the tomb and and uh…
so uh… They were genuine believers, but they kind of worked in the shadows there a little bit. Okay, thanks. I thought so. Thank you. All right. That was Carl down in Riverview, Florida. We have Jim in Clearwater, Forta calls in with an offer question. He says, in the book of Job, Satan had access to heaven. Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Wait a minute. In the book of Job, the scene in chapter one and the scene in chapter 2 is here on the planet.
And their believers had come together to worship the Lord, and Satan came also among them. That was not heaven. So if you had assumed that was a scene in heaven, you need to take a fresh look at it. God asked Satan, where have you been? He says from roaming to and fro up and down in the place of the earth. Here God was viewing his believers here on the earth and He seen was on the earth and so that is the case.
Does he still have access to heaven today? Well, just like you and I do through prayer, but it doesn’t physical access He was cast down when he tried to overthrow heaven and no I do not believe Satan has access to actually travel to heaven and and actually be there. But it’s more that he has communication lines. He can talk to the Lord and he does, according to Revelation 12-9, accuse the brethren, the believers, day and night. And of course, we have Christ who is our lawyer, our advocate, who intercedes on behalf, whatever Satan accuses us and says, that guy deserves to go to hell.
Jesus says yes he does but I died for him and I paid for his sin in its entirety and so he is declared righteous in God’s court of law based upon that so sorry Satan he’s mine. And Jim I hope that helps but no he did not have access to heaven in the sense he could travel there and talk to God he cannot do that. Alright, we have June in Tampa, Florida, traditional versus contemporary service of music. What are your comments?
Well, I think that the key thing is the words and what does this accomplish? You know, if you look at the Bible, music played a more minor role. In fact, you don’t even find in the New Testament anything about praise and worship. If you read Acts 2, the early church came together and says in verse 42 to verse 47, that they continued steadfastly in the Apostles’ Doctrine and in fellowship and in prayer and in the breaking of bread the Lord’s Supper and in witnessing.
Those were the key elements of the early church when they came together. You read nothing about praise and worship. Today, I think the focus has been on those things and not the word of God, and that’s where Satan is really taking advantage in the modern day church, and I think that’s why we’re going away from good, solid doctrine today. June, my church is traditional. We’ve seen the great old hymns because the words are so good. They have a great message.
I love the old rugged cross. It’s the theme for us here on Bibleline. I love the other great old hymns of the faith, but these modern ones, many of them, I call them seven eleven, seven phrases repeated eleven times, and they’re pretty shallow and don’t have a whole lot to say. But I’m not against all contemporary music, but a lot of it doesn’t have any wrong message at all. Some of it is scripturally wrong, and that’s where you really have to be careful.
In fact, if we have a hymn and we want to sing it and the words aren’t correct, we edit the hymn and sing the words as they should be because hymns are not inspired and many times the words are wrong. You have to be careful with music. It can bring a false message if you’re not careful. We have been calling in from Tampa 40, he says Israel is in news and saying they expect to be at war with Syria this summer.
is purchasing arms from Russia is any of this prophetic and certainly it is. Israel is hated above all nations. The Bible tells us that Israel is going to go through the greatest time of trouble she’s ever experienced, especially right after the Rapture. You read about that in the book of Jeremiah in chapter 30 and verses 6 through 8 it takes about time call the time of Jacob’s trouble which is still future it’s a tribulation period and it’ll be the worst period on earth for the whole earth including Israel.
We have Vince in Ruskin, Florida and Vince welcome to Bibleline your own ear. Yes, Dr. Hank, a common first I met one of your parishioners at the gym and ever since told me about the radio and you and the radio. My life has totally changed. I now want to surround myself with anything that’s got me. I’ve left the TV which had been my idol for years. And my life is thanks to that man from your church. My question is from the book of I think it’s Hosea.
Ephraim, where it reads, I think it’s chapter 4 verse 7, 7 and 17. Ephraim has John his side was leave him alone or let him alone. What does that mean? Well, I’ll take a look and I’m turning there right now. It’s chapter 4 verse 7. I’m in chapter 4 verse 7 but it doesn’t appear to read that. Is it chapter 4 you’re talking about? I think it’s 7 or 17. It just reads, he has joined his to the eye.
Okay. I think, well, Ephraim, sure. They’ve gone after I was left him alone and I see it. Their drink is sour. They have committed boredom continually for rulers with shame, do love, give ye. The winds have bound her up and her wings and their love. up in her wings and they shall be ashamed because of her sacrifices. Apparently, God was going to judge them and they were to be left alone for God to bring judgment upon them, which of course I believe He did.
Thank you, Aiden. Have any more time here. We’re running out. But I hope everybody listening is trusted Jesus and Jesus alone as Savior. I hope you’ve made the second decision to serve the Lord and we just thank you for that testimony He just gave there about how your life has changed through Bible and, of course, not through Bible and per se, but through the Lord that you’re learning about here on the Bible and program. Again, we need your help for the month of June.
