Just type in your question, hit submit, and we’ll get that and we’ll put that up on the air. The Book of Revelation is an incredible book and it tells us of future things and we believe.
The first division is the things that are past which is chapter 1. The second division is the things which are which is chapters 2 and 3 which give us a beautiful overview of Church history for the past 2000 years. There’s a letter there to each of the seven churches from Jesus Christ and of course those were real churches that really did exist at that time when John the Apostle wrote the book of Revelation. But they were a prophetic picture of the past 2000 years and you know it’s amazing as we we look back how each church fits a particular period of church history right to the T.
The first church called the church at Ephesus. The word Ephesus means desirable. That was a doctrinally sound church, hard working church and they were doctrinally sound and so on. Just beautifully describes what happened. Then you next the next church is the church It’s Smyrna. Smyrna really means muhr and muhr was used in embalming. It spoke of the persecution and the suffering and the death that Christians went through during the second and third centuries. Absolutely incredible picture of what was taking place in a letter of encouragement to those that were suffering during that time and so on.
Then you come to the third church, the church at Pergumus, Pergumus means married and that’s when the world and paganism got married as the world under Constantine was declared everybody should be Christian and so paganism and Christian you got merged That was a bad thing for the church and it talks about the compromise that came into the church age and so on What is a beautiful? Thing is that you can look back at church history and see how God had anticipated all of these things and that we’re right now living in the seventh church age, which is Laodicea.
Laodicea in the Greek means right to the people, and certainly this is a time when everybody’s demanding their rights. And the focus is not on Christ and on others, but on self. And most churches are out to entertain people because they’re concerned about themselves, not about reaching a world that’s going to hell. And right after the Laodicean Church, which we believe were at the end of that age, it says in chapter 4 verse 1, after this I looked and behold a door was opened in heaven.
And the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me. That first voice is the voice that John heard in chapter 1. He turned, he heard the voice and it was Jesus. And so Jesus here will shout and he says, come up hither. We believe that is a picture of the rapture. From chapter 4 verse 1 on you do not find the church mentioned anymore in the book of Revelation. Why? It’s gone. It’s caught up to meet the Lord in the air.
And so in chapter 4 verse 1 it says, after this I looked and behold a door was opened in heaven. The first voice, which I heard was as it were of a trumpet. This is the trumpet the Bible says will sound. It’s Christ’s voice that sounds like a trumpet. And they’re caught up. Christ says, come up hither. And then it says here, I’ll show you the things which must be hereafter. That’s the third division of the book of Revelation, where the things that occur after the rapture are described.
And we believe chapters 4 through 19 are a commentary on the seven years of tribulation that will follow the rapture. We my friend are very close. We believe to that tribulation period. I’m not a date-setter. Let me tell you, the things in the world today certainly indicate that we’re getting closer and closer to the Lord’s return. We don’t have to be a rocket scientist to figure out the world is confused today, isn’t it? Our own Congress and our own country seems to be unable to make clear the safe decisions that will affect our future and provide safety for us as American citizens here in America and around the world.
Look at what is happening with Israel becoming more hated every day. The enemies of Israel, Hamas, and the Islamic militants are obviously gaining more control every day of the territory around Israel. Israel is obviously being put in a squeeze play between the The Bible predicts all of this very clearly. The Prophet Micah tells us that the neighbors of Israel will hate her and say, let her be destroyed. Let her be defiled. It is described so amazingly that it is almost like reading the thing after it happens when the Bible is clearly predicting it before it happens.
Isn’t that amazing? That’s what I find so fascinating about the Bible is that it tells the future before it happens. Well, we know that the scriptures are obviously very, very clear. Back in Psalm 83, it says here in verse 2, “…low vine enemies make a tumult, and they that hate thee have lifted up the head.” I believe this particular Psalm is a prophetic Psalm about what is taking place today. It says they have consulted together with one consent. They are confederate against thee.
This is the neighbors of Israel who want to destroy Israel. And we find the other prophets talk about how they will come against Israel. And we know of course that Jesus will ultimately come to their aid and will defeat the armies that come against Israel and set up his kingdom of peace here on earth, good will toward men and Christ will rule not only for a thousand years in an earthly kingdom with him ruling from Jerusalem over the earth, but that kingdom will never be overthrown and it will continue on into eternity future and forever Christ will be the one who will bring not only peace on earth, but eternal peace will live forever in his presence as believers.
Have you trusted Christ as your Savior? If you haven’t, then you are living dangerously because anyone who is not a believer in Jesus Christ, the Bible says, is already condemned. You are already headed for hell. Somebody said, what do you have to do to go to hell? The answer is nothing. Just die. If you die without Christ, you will wind up in hell. You are already condemned. You are already headed there. John 3.8, Christ said, He, the believer, not, is condemned already because He hath not believed, because He hath not believed on the name, and He only begotten the Son of God.
If you have entrusted Christ, you are already condemned, already headed for hell. You don’t have to do a thing to go to hell, but this die without Christ. to be saved, you must trust in the Savior, the Redeemer, the one who died on the cross of Calvary and by his death and shed blood, purchased your salvation. He paid for it in full, and it is offered as a gift. All you have to do is reach out in faith and receive that gift by trusting that Jesus Christ died for you and paid your sin dead and full by his death and shed blood.
The moment you trust Christ, God saves you, and He saves you eternally. I found that out when I was eighteen. That was the best decision I ever made was the trust Christ and received His gift of eternal life. It was not until a year later that I chose to serve Christ, but my service to Christ has nothing to do with my salvation. The Bible says salvation is not of yourself. It’s the gift of God. It’s not of works, lest any man should boast Ephesians chapter 2 verses 8 and 9.
is God’s wonderful gift, but as believers, if we choose to serve Him, God will bless us and reward us, and that is really true. And you know, most of that will happen in heaven. By living for Christ, by serving Christ, He will be laying up treasures in heaven, and one day you will see those treasures there. Moses, according to Hebrews chapter 11, esteem the reproach of Christ greater than the treasures of Egypt. Can you imagine? He was about to become Pharaoh as he was the adopted son of Pharaoh’s daughter.
And he could have been the next Pharaoh and had all that wealth. I’ve been to Egypt many times. I’ve seen the treasures in the Cairo Museum of just the boy king, King Tut. And that particular tomb was just of a young boy. He was 17 or 18 when he died. And as Pharaoh, they made this tomb up in the valley of the kings, and when they opened it up the world was just shocked at the gold and the riches that were there.
And you can still go and admire those things in the Cairo Museum there in Egypt. And yet… He was one of the lesser pharaohs of Egypt. Can you imagine what Moses would have had? And yet he says, according to the Bible in Hebrews chapter 11, that the riches that Christ would give him would be greater than the riches that he could have had as Pharaoh of Egypt. Wow, that caught my attention as a young believer. I said, wow, I’m going in the wrong direction.
I need to obviously refocus my life because this world is going to pass. And only that which is done for Christ is going to last. And this is the choices that we have to make. I hope you are a believer if you are, if you have trusted Christ as your only hope of heaven, you will go to heaven. And then I hope that you will make a second decision to live for Christ and serve Him. It will be the greatest choice you will ever make.
Anyway, we thank you for tuning in today and we are going to go to the phone lines here in just one minute. That phone number is 1-800-576-3771 and we invite you to call in with your question and you can leave it off here or you can go up on the air with us. Our first call is over in Largo, Florida and we’re going to talk to Frank. Frank, welcome to Bibleline Your On The Air. Hello, I’ll pass the question.
I just listened to you. I had a couple of questions but you just blew me away talking about the riches we have in Christ. It’s amazing. It is and and I don’t hear many speaking about those riches anymore but My my question was um Wasn’t the blessed hope of the church the resurrection? No, the blessed hope is Christ himself and the fact that he’s coming and returning for us at the rapture What was the blessed hope? I mean was it the rapture?
Yes the rapture the rapture is the buzz of the show so that’s an intricate part of our faith Oh absolutely. And no doubt about it. You know it talks about it in a number of places, but it says in Colossians 2.28 that Christ is the 227 probably, that He’s the hope of glory, and He dwells in us. But also Titus has a beautiful verse talking about Christ returning for us. And I’m going to turn there and take a look at that verse for you where it tells us that we’re looking, this is Titus 2.13, looking for that blessed hope and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us.
He might redeem us from all iniquity. What a great verse that is. Titus 2.13 is the first time we want to look for. But I was happy to listen to you and talk about that people that believe that the dice came already. What was that? They call it? Well, replacement theology, predarism and so on, and fellows like Hank Hennigraff, R.C. Sproul, and so many others believe that Christ has already returned in AD 70. And they believe The tribulation period was 8064 to 8070 and that the Antichrist, the beast, was Nero and it just doesn’t make any sense at all.
Obviously if you read the book of Revelation, it’s clear that these events have not happened in past history and they are still ahead of us. And I think pretty close we see the technology today to make possible, for example the mark of the beast. That mark will be a controlling mark where you won’t be able to buy or sell without it. Today we have obviously the computers and the credit cards, but it will be more sophisticated in the net that the actual mark will be on you and you and I will be scanned as we go through the grocery store line as we go to the gas pump and all body transactions will take place electronically.
We’re there. I think the end times are right upon us. I was looking at two scriptures and I don’t know if I’m on the white track or not. But in 1 Timothy 1-20 it says, it was talking about 19, it says holding faith in a good conscience which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck from Imanaeus in Alexander and he says, oh my God, they’re looking to Satan, that they learn not to blast being. And then in 2 Timothy 17 and 18 it says, and their word, well, he has got the gangrene of whom I am an innocent elitist who concerning the truth of their, saying that the resurrection is already passed and overthort a faith of some It seems to me like these people were actually teaching something that Paul considered blasphemous.
And they were saying the resurrection was passed, something like that, and according to this, they were overthrown the faith of some. Well, that is really what happens. And I hear that a lot here lately where people say, I don’t know what I believe anymore. They get confused and mixed up. And of course, we know the Bible tells us that Satan is the author of confusion and a lot of people pitch in the towel and give up when they hear all this controversy, which the Bible is, you know, if you take it literally, it doesn’t come out a dozen different ways.
It comes out only one way. And when you sprinkle pixie dust on it though and you explain away things that the Bible says and try to say that they mean something else and you have to have their code book to be able to figure it out then that causes a great deal of confusion within the body of Christ. But I mean, we delivered from wrath and our hope is the resurrection not looking for the tribulation. Amen. And is this what he was saying though?
That was my question in Timothy and Paul says that they were saying that resurrection was already passed and over the sort of faith of some. Isn’t this what those people are doing? I think you’re absolutely right. And Paul says that’s blasphemous. Yes. So I mean they’re openly exposed these people. I mean even though they’re sincere, they’re actually teaching something that was contrary to the New Testament doctrine which the believers held up. And as I understand thessalonians have said that Paul said don’t believe if you have a word or a prophecy or even a letter from us that they had a lot of pressure.
So when any shows up so apparently people were sending letters around saying that they were already in the tribulation back then This is true and that’s what it says and think of us loins that they had frightened these people and told them that the rapture had happened and they missed it. That’s absolutely similar to what’s happening today that the The say that Christ has already returned and Frank you’re right on and no We need one more question that that script your wish as the That day will not come except they come falling away for us some Translate that is an apostasy, but others translate it as a catching up well It is the catching up if you read the context there in the next couple of verses that talks about he that is hindering Iniquity here in this world the Holy Spirit will Continue to hinder until he be taken out of the way and he is the one that is
He is departing, and when He departs, we depart, because He indwells in us permanently. So it’s really talking about the rapture, the departures of the Holy Spirit, and of us who are in development of the Holy Spirit, the bride of Christ. To meet Christ the bridegroom, and we’ll be married to Christ and come back seven years later as Christ comes back to rule on the earth. And the whole earth will celebrate this marriage of Christ to His bride. That’s what the millennium is all about.
It’s called the marriage supper of the lamb, where the whole earth will be delivered from the curse and blossomed like a rose and will feast and enjoy and celebrate the marriage that will have taken place right after the rapture and before the second coming seven years later. That’s beautiful. Thank you for your call. Thank you. All right. Thank you in Largo, Florida. We have lots of other callers and lots of offer questions. We’ll try to move as quickly as we can.
We have Robert in St. Petersburg and Robert. Welcome to my blind. You’re on the air Yes He was talking, he was written a book, I forget the name of it, but his old book was about how the newest council orders the second council. The Catholic with the council. They just had a major one that changes but it was Vatican one and Vatican two Yeah, yeah, that was it that was a Vatican two. I’ll go with that 30 years ago.
I think It’s quickly it might be longer All right, Mike, what he said the main thing about it was how much the Vatican II has changed or created internal contradictions in the Catholic doctrine that most Catholic cardiologists like, I think the Benedict plays to Mecca and so many and well how they’re not allowed to have people who have abortions all out of communion. I mean, I’m not criticizing their beliefs. Why do you have a Peter Plus? I do the best I want to call him.
He’s like there’s a lot of internal Doctoral conflict between that less Vatican to and everything before and it was Benedict doing now as far as Praying to the Mecca. Well, I mean on occasion I didn’t know about the praying to Mecca, but I do tell you that they are changing things all the time and that’s not unusual the Catholic Church as obviously the latest thing is the the rejection of limbo. To say that limbo is no longer there. So it’s a changing emerging church and it’s certainly the Bible doesn’t change.
So if you want truth, I would go to the Word of God which the Bible says, live it and abide it forever and ever. Well, we sure do thank all of you for tuning in today. We also know that because of your gifts, we’ve been able to be on the air and reach out as far as we have.

And at 6.30 pm we’re on World Harvest Television, which is on Direct TV channel 321. Direct TV channel 321. I remember that one, two, three, backward. 3-2-1 is the channel on World Harvest. We hope that you’ll tune in our Bible on television this evening. We’re going to go back to the phone lines.
We have Indeed in Deltona, Florida. We have Amy, a first time caller, and Amy, welcome to Bibleline your own the air. Good morning. I just wanted to know if you could tell me about the coming of the Lord it says in the word of God that he was coming back to the church that has no spot or wrinkle. Now there are many people that are saying oh that’s not necessarily the truth. Could you kind of give me a little bit of information on that?
Absolutely. You know, positionally you and I are seeing without spot or wrinkle as you said we’re seen as righteous because of the righteousness of Christ that is credited to the account of a believer. So there is a difference between our standing and our state. Our standing is that we are perfected in Christ, that God sees us as perfect and as righteous as Christ. I love 2 Corinthians 5, 21. It says that God made Christ to be sin for us, Christ who knew no sin, that we might be He made the righteousness of God.
So, basically that verse tells us about the exchange. It took place at the cross. Christ took our sin and was made to be sin for us. Christ who was without sin so that we might be made the very righteousness of God. So, Amy, that’s what he’s talking about. When Christ comes back, we will be presented before him as holy as righteous, not because of what we have done or not done, but because Christ did for us at the cross of Calvary.
So that’s what that’s all about. So. All right, and I appreciate that. Thank you so much, and God bless you. Thank you, Amy. And that was Amy in Deltona, Florida, first time caller Deltona over there near Daytona Beach. We now have Dwight in Clearwater. Dwight, welcome to Bibleline you are on the air. Good morning, Hank. Hank, be quite honest with you. I don’t know where to begin. I’ve seen so much stuff this morning. Speaking about the End Times, what is being terribly underreported in our country today is what’s going on in Gaza.
Gaza is like a giant mushroom cloud this morning. Hamas is basically, for all the tents and purposes, taken over the entire Gaza Strip. It’s a bloodbath over there. A boss’s troops have just scattered in all different directions. Hamas has taken over US military stockpiles, armor, personnel carriers. The Fatah security forces was taken over late last night in Gaza City. The Fatah soldiers coming out of the last remaining compound, they were summarily executed in and thunder their families in the streets.
This, what’s going to happen here is Hamas is fundamentalist, Islamic Sharia law, the whole deal, and Fatah is basically secular. This is going to be an incredible burden and pressure pressure on Israel because now they’re aligned with Syria and Iran. That being said, I’ll finish what I called for. For a Just Ran Across The Sky News Video Report where Hamas, gunmen entered a hospital, went into an operating room, and executed a I just…
executed a man on the table while surgeons were operating on This is just a video report on sky news my television and I see Everything in the world about Paris hardly anything about what is transpiring the last 72 hours and cause a I’ll hang up And I’ll let you comment. All right. Well, thank you so much You know if Israel did something like that the world would be outraged every news channel would be covering this kind of thing. And here nobody seems to even report the fact that the Hamas would execute people that are surrendering in the streets and then go into a hospital and actually kill a person being operated on during surgery.
This is a crazy crazy world we’re living in today and obviously the news is not fair I I believe because Israel can’t hardly hiccup without the world criticizing them and yet this evil religious system that is out to kill and destroy and they all want to bring Israel and the West down and we obviously haven’t seen the last of it. It’s going to get worse. This is the end times I think that we’re living in. Wow, that’s incredible. I know that Israel is getting the squeeze on every side and this is certainly going to be a much more difficult situation for Israel to face now.
I think the men in the mistake when they gave away Gaza two years ago, but now they have a militant Islamic state right on their border in Gaza. Obviously behind all of this is Iran. It seems to be running the show behind the scenes with Hamas, not only in Gaza, but Lebanon and Syria and so on. We’re in the end times. Thanks right for calling in and boy, can’t be too much longer and then Jesus will be back. We have some off your questions.
Let me go ahead and try to take a couple of these. I’m going to go down to Charles here in Berlin, New York. He says, explain. In Corinthians there, explain 1 Corinthians 11-4 about the head covering and can a boy wear a hat in church? Well, obviously it’s talking there about a sign of respect toward God. You know the Jewish people have this custom to this very day. They wear a little yamaka, a little hat or covering. I’ve attended Jewish services and you have usually a basket with little head coverings that are there for you to borrow for the service or many of the Jewish people have elaborate beautiful ones that they own that they carry to use.
But generally on the Sabbath an Orthodox Jew especially will wear some kind of a head covering. When you go to Israel, you go to the, for example, to the waving wall, which is considered a place of prayer, which is, really makes it a synagogue. You find that they have the little head coverings there for you to borrow, to go and approach the wall and leave a prayer. So this is what it’s talking about, and it’s really a sign of respect.
I remember my first Jewish guide I had in Israel and whenever he would read the Scriptures, he would always put on his head covering. He’d put his Jomaka on his head to read the Scriptures. It was basically a symbol of respect to God. And you know, he’s somewhat carried the respect down to our time today in different ways. But in the Bible it says in 1 Corinthians that that wasn’t a law but a custom and you can choose to observe it or not observe it but that’s basically what it was to symbolize certainly respect toward God.
We now have Adam in Tampa, Florida on the line here and Adam welcome to Bible in. Yeah, that’s a great guide for it. Thank you. First of all, your faithfulness to God and to his word and how you clearly present the scripture. It’s amazing. Your patience as well. But my question, if you could just touch a little bit on people’s misunderstanding of Romans 10, 9 and 10. And I’ll hang up and listen to that. Thank you. All right. Adam, thank you.
Romans 10 and 10 is often used in the so-called Romans road of leading someone to Christ. They just go through verses in Romans. And that’s a good idea. It’s a great in Romans 3, 23. We’re all sinners. Romans 6, 23. The wages of sin is death and so on. But Romans 10 and 10, I try to avoid a little bit because it is often so misused that you have a lot of explaining to do. I don’t believe that that’s necessary with a new person that you’re trying to win the Christ to bring up passages that might bring about some debate.
But verse 9 says, If I was to confess with thy mouth, the Lord Jesus, that really should read Jesus as Lord, which is really referring to Christ being deity. This is essential to recognize that Jesus Christ is God in order to be saved. But I don’t believe it’s saying that you have to make a mouth confession to be saved, but it’s talking about that if you have believed, then certainly we ought to witness and confess. And I think verse 10 explains verse 9 because it says with the heart, which really is the mind, man believeth or trust of under righteousness.
In other words, when you trust Christ, you’re made righteous in God’s sight. But with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation. So when you get saved, then you confess that you are saved to the lost. And on either side of Romans 10, 9 and 10, you’ll find the object is here preaching. Verse 8 says, the word is near unto thee, even in thy mouth and in thy heart, that is the word of faith which we preach.” So he’s talking about preaching to the lost and we who are believers, Paul writes to the Romans to say ought to be preaching that message.
Then it talks about how that whosoever verse 13 shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved and then it says how they can they call unless somebody brings them the message. And of course that’s our job. So the confession here is really witnessing. Now those who teach, you have to make a public confession of Christ to be saved are really He said, adding works to salvation and violating the meaning of this passage. For example, if you had to make a mouth confession with your mouth to be saved, all deaf mutes would automatically go to hell.
They wouldn’t have a chance. They would not be able to be saved because they can’t automatically confess Christ. So that’s craziness, isn’t it? It would violate verses like Ephesians 2, 8, 9, which say that salvation is not of yourself. If you had to automatically confess, that would make salvation of yourself. Also, in John’s Gospel, chapter 12, it talks about religious leaders who believed and got saved that would not confess Christ because they didn’t want to be kicked out of their synagogue.
And Jesus said they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God. So in the Bible you have examples of people that didn’t confess Christ and yet were saved. So it’s really saying here that you must believe in your heart or in your mind that God raised up Christ from the dead and then you would be saved. So when you acknowledge that Christ is God and that He went to the cross and He paid for your sins and paid for your sins and full by His death and shed blood was buried and rose again from the dead.
trust that he did that for you, you become saved. And then it says, after you’re saved, then you ought to confess that you are saved. The confession is made unto not four, but unto salvation. Excuse me, which you receive at the moment you believe. So Romans 10 and 9 cannot be read separately. Verse 9 is explained by verse 10. We confess with our mouth the the Lord Jesus as being the Lord, and that He has been raised from the dead.
Verse 10 tells us the mechanics of it all. Verse 10 tells us with the mind we believe and were made righteous, and then it tells us after we believe that we give confession and that’s witnessing unto the salvation that we’ve already received by trusting Christ as their Savior. Oh, I hope that helps. And we’re now going to go to offer your question. Robert, down in Pompano Beach calls in. He says, John 8, verses 3 through 12, my Bible teacher says these verses are not found in the best original text.
Is this true? You know what is interesting is that usually when they talk about these best original ones, they don’t know what they’re talking about or they don’t know which are the best original text and generally that’s just a statement that’s thrown around. But also at the same time what is really probably meant by that is the two manuscripts that have been under the custodial care of the Roman Catholic Church, Vaticanus I and also Sinaiticus which are old but not necessarily more reliable.
What is interesting is about the Vaticanus manuscript of the New Testament is that nobody’s ever really seen it. They’ve made copies and distributed those, but the Roman Catholic Church has not allowed anybody to go and actually touch it or read it. And so I wonder if we’ve gotten really the full scoop here. I don’t know what to tell you about that, but I certainly wouldn’t let it bother you or lose any sleep over it. I believe that what we have is probably all of it, the Word of God, and because some manuscripts may not have it, doesn’t mean it’s not there.
This is where we get most of these deletions today. A lot of the deletions in the New Testament come because of the two so-called best manuscripts, which are these ones that are old, yes, but not necessarily reliable. And first of all, I would not trust two manuscripts that the world really can’t look at because they’re in the custodial care of the Roman Catholic Church. I think that that would be a mistake. But you know, a lot of the omissions in the NIV and the other Bibles are certainly caused by this.
And by the way, on the NIV, you know, in that story of Chadrek, Meshach had been to He went to the church in Daniel chapter 3 where they would not bow down to the image of Nebuchadnezzar. They were cast into the burning fire he furnished. You might remember that Nebuchadnezzar looked and he said, didn’t we cast three into the fire? He says, I see four. And notice. That fourth one, I believe, is Jesus in the King James that says the fourth was like him to the son of God.
That was Christ in the fire with him and they did not burn. But did you know the NIV says that the fourth was like unto the son of the gods? Plural. This is craziness. I cannot believe that they would even allow that to take place. place. But again, the NIV is new age and it allows for this tremendous, I think, blasphemy to take place that Jesus would be here, considered as the son of the gods. Anyway, I can’t stand the NIV with good reason because they dropped 44 verses in their entirety and also they They seem to want to do away with a doctrine of hell.
There are other major changes throughout, and I just can’t believe that we are finding people that are just gravitating to these things. But basically they’re sold on the fact that they read easy, and they’re not reliable though. We have D now in Mechanicsville, Virginia, calling in, and D, welcome to buy one. You’re on the air. Oh, hi, Dr. Hank. I had two questions. One concern in taking a test for spiritual gifts. I’ve been to a couple of different churches that have a test that you take to see what your spiritual gift is.
And then if you have time, I’d like to get the scriptures for different degrees of punishment. I heard a couple of times, but I never got the scripture down, and I’ll just listen to you. All right. Thank you. Thank you now. On the different degrees of punishment, you can read over in Matthew Christ cursed three cities on the northern edge of the Sea of Galilee. And you know, all three of these don’t exist anymore. The ruins of that, we visited them back in March of this year when we were over there.
But he talks about, because they had rejected greater light than those in past ages, that Christ had walked through their streets, preached and done miracles in their streets, and they rejected him, that they would be held much more accountable. I’ll just read one of those. In verse 23 of Matthew 11, it says, Daukapurnum, which was a major fishing city or village in the time of Christ, which are exalted to heaven shall be brought down to hell for if the money works which were done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.
In other words, if they had seen those miracles, Sodom would have still been around. He says, but I say unto you that it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment. That day of judgment, by the way, is the great white throne judgment at the end of on the millennium when the unsavor given a degree of punishment and hell based upon their works and it says it’s going to be more tolerable for the inhabitants of Sodom at the day of judgment than for you.
So in other words, the people in Capernaum were going to be judged more harshly in hell than the people in Capernaum because they rejected greater light. Matthew 23 talks about the religious leaders who are misleading people. He tells us that they would receive a greater degree of damnation, verse 14 of Matthew 23. And numerous other verses talk about degrees of punishment. As far as the gifts of the Spirit, we have a book in our resource center called 19 Gifts of the Spirit that I think will really help enlighten you on discovering what the gifts are and how to discover what your gift is.
So if you don’t have that book, that’s a great one. We have a lot of great things in our Resource Center. You ought to call and ask for a resource list. But 19 gifts of the Spirit. That is a wonderful book and it’s in our Resource Center. And a lot of those gifts have ceased. A lot of them were spectacular in temporary nature and among those that have ceased, I believe are tons of gifts of knowledge, gifts of healing.
All of those have ceased and obviously the gift of apostleship. There are only 12 apostles. That gift is over. If anybody calls themselves an apostle today, I would be suspect of something not right there. If somebody calls themselves a prophet right now, this is not the time of prophets. The gift of prophecy ceased. I believe that that would be wrong. scares me when people claim they have these. Different titles and so on in any case we’re gonna have to run here pretty shortly.
