We’re having our vacation Bible school and I just broke out my guitar and let all the kids in the singing and hey the gospel we had a bunch of kids get saved this morning which is always great. Thanks for tuning in we’ll be here all week long.
We come to you Monday through Friday here on Bibleline. You can catch this program on the internet at BibleLineMinistries.org and you can catch this 24-7 and also listen to this program live right now on the internet anywhere in the world. That’s helpful if you have friends in other countries or other parts of the United States that do not receive the broadcast, you can have them tune in on the internet so far. 149 countries have logged in and were heard really around the world.
We’ve gotten emails in the past couple of weeks from listeners in India from Kenya, Africa from Europe, actually from Macedonia, a very biblical name, isn’t it? And obviously it’s there in your Bible. We’re excited about what God is doing. We look forward to having you take this latest class with us. Tomorrow night, we’ll have the second class night and we’ll do class 3 and 4 of the Gospel of John. This is an exciting series. We had a wonderful group last week.
You can call in, you can sign up and take this class on the internet and or you can actually come in person tomorrow night and sit in the classroom from 7 to 9. We’re going to go for a total of six weeks or 12 hours of teaching, and we hope that you’ll be present to join us for those exciting teachings in the Gospel of John. And that’s tomorrow night, and don’t forget we’re on the Internet so you can take the classes there.
We will be taping all of these, and they are available on CD when we conclude the classes. You can get all 12 CDs sent to you, and you’ll have this wonderful series. We have many series already done. I think the book of Revelation is one that’s so popular. People have told me how much they’ve enjoyed that. The book of Romans, the book of Jude, and many others, many conduct Bible studies. We know of Bible studies around the country that use the CDs as a facilitator to the Bible study.
They’ll play a portion or all of one CD, have discussion and have refreshments, and it turns out to be a nice way to have a Bible study. You can do that with our worship services. If you’d like, we have the whole year of 2006 available if you want to get the whole year that’s all 52 sermons, 52 weeks, 52 CDs for a gift of $250 that’ll help Bible on it. Again, we’re into July here and this is the lean time for Christian giving across the board to all ministries and you’ll find that we’re no exception.
If you can help us here over the summer, that would be really wonderful. Your gift would be greatly appreciated and very, very needful and helpful at this time. You can send a gift by mail and or you can give a gift by credit card over the phone. Just call that 800 number after the show and tell our operators that you’d like to give a gift by phone or you can ask them to send you an envelope with our address on it and then you can mail your gift to Bibleline.
We’re going to get into the Bible and talk about a few things here that I think are helpful. I’m just amazed at how often I hear repentance used wrongly. I saw a Christian television program last night and they just went off on this wrong definition of repentance. It’s so sad because it adds works to salvation and perhaps most of Christianity gets repentance wrong. In fact, what’s amazing to me is the phrase repent of sin does not even occur in your Bible.
say repentance doesn’t occur in the Bible, repentance is necessary, but it’s not turning from sin. And the phrase repent of sin does not even occur once in your Bible. And most people are shocked to find out that it’s not there. Because you hear it so frequently, you would think that the phrase repent of sin was on every page of the Bible. The true meaning is this. Repentance is the translation of the Greek word metanoia. Metanoia is really two words.
And meta, M-E-T-A means change, noia means mind, and the two words together mean a change of mind. And so meta noia means a change of mind. The English word repent, doesn’t mean the same thing. And so obviously it’s a mistranslation. And Satan must be happiest can be because if you tell somebody to turn from sin to be saved, that means they have to stop sinning or change their life in order to be saved, and that is works. And that makes something of self or works a necessary part of salvation.
That is wrong. That is not the gospel. And that’s really sad. It has caused untold confusion among believers and unbelievers alike. Satan, the author of confusion, according to 1 Corinthians 14, 33, I’m not a believer sure has delighted in the misuse of this word repentance. One of the counterfeits Satan is using today as far as a false way to heaven is the misuse of the word repentance. To insist upon repentance in any sense includes the demand for a change of conduct.
Either toward God or man is to add works or an element of works to faith. And that of course means you won’t be saved. That’s sad. And that is really unfortunate. So in any case, what is the real meaning? Well, that’s what we’re going to explain. And so in any case, what does the word mean? It means change of mind. And in the New Testament, usually that change of mind is about who is Jesus Christ. When Peter preached at Pentecost, he accuses the very leaders of Israel of crucifying the Lord of glory, the Lord of heaven, the Lord of creation, but God raised him back from the dead.
And they were very convicted by his message. In verse 36 he says, therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God hath made that same Christ, which one the one he says, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, both Lord and Christ. What is he saying? Jesus Christ is God, he is Lord, and secondly, he is the Christ, or he is the Messiah. The word Christ and Messiah are equivalent. Messiah comes from the Hebrew language, and Christos is the Greek word coming from the Greek language which we say Christ in English.
And so he’s saying that Jesus Christ is God and he’s the Messiah, and they were pricked in their hearts and they said, what should we do? And Peter says in Acts 2, repent. Change your mind. They needed to realize that they had crucified the actual true Messiah, the Lord of glory, and of course they thought he was a blasphemer and imposter and that’s why they killed him. And so in order to be saved they had to change their mind.
Has nothing there to do with sin. It’s amazing to me how many evangelists, how many preachers, how many crusades have an evangelist point their finger at the crowd and say, Repent of sin. And then they’ll define it as turning from sin. And then we find that as they have people come forward at the invitation, they have the choir singing just as I am. Does anybody think? Obviously, the choir is singing a totally different theme. The choir is saying, just as I am, I come without one plea, but that thy blood was shed for me.
And it’s almost like the preacher saying, don’t listen to the choir. I just told you that you had to repent of sin. That means the turn from your sin, and he’s saying you have to turn when the choir is saying, no, just come like you are, just as I am I come, without one plea, but that thy blood was shed for me. Interestingly, the choir hasn’t right. The preacher hasn’t wrong, almost in every case. Isn’t that amazing? And you would think that the preachers would actually realize that the choir is singing something different.
but apparently they’re not thinking at all either. If you really did have to turn from your sin, the choir ought to sing some kind of a stanza that would tell you that. Turn, turn, turn, turn right now, turn or burn. I could probably write one, but obviously it’s not necessary because, again, this is a bad translation. The King James is not infallible, and I’m not a King James only, but my goodness, this is a bad error in the King James Bible.
Bible, the word repent in English does not mean the same thing as the Greek word metanoia. What we really ought to have is preachers using the Greek word metanoia. Can you imagine on Sunday morning or in a crusade and evangelists saying metanoia, metanoia, metanoia. Well, at least we would look up the Greek word and find out the true meaning because it It simply means a change of mind. And when you get to the Old Testament, this is really fascinating.
You know, the word repent in the Old Testament occurs 43 times. And of the 43 times in the Old Testament that repentance occurs, it is God who repents 37 of the 43 times. Now if you do your math and divide 37 by 43, 86% of the time it’s got to repents. Now think about this, if you define repent as turning from sin, guess what? You have a big theological problem. You’ve got a holy, sinless God not capable of committing any acts of sin turning from his sin left and right.
86% of the time it’s God who repents, not man. Only six times is it man repenting in the Old Testament. Check it out for yourself. 37 of the 43 times the word repent occurs in the Old Testament, it’s God who repents. So if you insist upon your definition that repent means to turn from sin, guess what? You’ve got God turning from his sin. Does God commit sin? No! We have a a holy righteous God that’s not capable of sinning at all, and that one usually causes people to stop and reflect.
But the Hebrew word translated repent occurs 43 times and 37 of the 43 times it is God who does the repenting. This is unfortunate because it adds works to the planet’s salvation. So the Bible tells us that God saves us just as we are. It says in Romans chapter 5 and verse 8, God commended His love toward us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us. Actually from the Greek it means while we were still in the state or act of committing sins Christ died for us.
In other words, I love that old hymn, Christ died for sinful men. I’m one of them. We’re all sinners deserving of hell. And he says simply come. Throughout the New Testament, that’s the invitation that Christ used most often. Just come. Everything has been done. Christ has paid for all of your sins. He doesn’t require anything of you, but to simply come and trust Christ as your Savior. And one of the most amazing things is that the Bible tells us that God is not charging our sins against us.
Let me read a verse in 2 Corinthians 5, and I love this passage in it. shocked me, it riveted me when I saw it for the first time. This is a verse that tells us what we’re to say when we’re witnessing. In 2 Corinthians 5, it tells us in verse 19, to whip, that’s old English, but it means that is to say, or here is how you are to witness. And it says in verse 19, number one, we’re to say that God was in Christ.
A lot How do people fail to teach or say that Jesus Christ is God? That’s what sets him apart from all other would-be Messiah’s. And also the fact that he rose again from the dead. Secondly, it says he reconciled the world unto himself. Religion is the exact opposite of what the Bible teaches. Religion tells us that we have to reconcile ourselves to God by our works, by our deeds. But the opposite is true. God is the one who doesn’t reconcile him.
He made the complete payment for your sin to mind and the cross. And when we simply receive that completed payment that Christ made, God saves us. But thirdly, catch this one. 2 Corinthians 5, 19. It says, not imputing their trespasses under them, not imputing their trespasses under them, not imputing their trespasses under of them, what it’s saying here is that your sins don’t send you to hell. Because Jesus died and paid for every sin you would ever commit past, present, and future, the one sin that you’re held accountable for is rejection of Christ or unbelief.
In other words, he’s not. I used to hear all that preaching when I was young. If you smoke, you go to hell. If you steal, you go to hell. If you commit murder, you go to hell. That is not what the Bible teaches. Yes, murders will go to hell. Yes, thieves will go to hell. Yes, liars will go to hell. But they don’t go to hell because they lied or because they stole or stole or committed murder. They go to hell because they reject God’s provision.
Jesus who paid for every one of those sins. Rederers can be forgiven and when you trust Christ you receive that forgiveness and it’s by faith alone Without works you come just as you are It’s interesting that once you get saved then God gives you the power to have victory over sin in your life It’s amazing how that God can give you victory once you trust the lord I never forget there was a lady that came to my church. She told me after church.
I’m going to hell She said I said why are you going to hell? She says I’m going to hell because I smoke and I said well Let me just tell you people in hell smoke, but they don’t go to hell because they smoke they smoke because they’re in hell The Bible says the smoke of their torment and send us up forever and ever But I said it has nothing to do with you going to heaven She was told that unless she Repented of her sin and stopped smoking she’d go to hell and I said guess what that has nothing to do with it repentance means changing your mind about Christ and you need to trust Him.
In any case, she trusted Christ and walked away, saved and was excited. Then three weeks later she comes back and guess what? She says, Pastor, guess what? I said, what? She says, I don’t smoke anymore. She had had this habit for 30 years. She said, God has taken away my desire. I don’t smoke anymore. I don’t want to smoke anymore. The power and victory of her sin occurs after you get saved. To ask a lost person to change their life to be saved is works.
In any case, I’m Dr. Englunds from This is Bible and when you trust Jesus God saves you and you’re saved forever, that is certainly good news. And I’m Dr. Englunds from This is Bible and we’re going to go to the phone lines in just a minute. We have all fair questions and we have live callers waiting to get up on the air with us and we invite you to call us at 1-800-576-377-1-1-800. 5, 7, 6, 3, 7, 7, 1.
We’re going to go to Dwight in Clearwater, Florida, and Dwight, welcome to Bibleline your own here. Good morning. Hank, how are you? Good. Okay. Hank, I’d like to run some news past you that’s occurring in the Middle East right now that we’re not getting a lot of coverage on over here and maybe get your opinion of these recent events. Over the last 30 days or so, we’ve had a little alarming news coming out of Israel and that part of the Middle East.
We’ve got the USS Enterprise that just moved over there, which makes three battle groups in the area. Hamas, as most people know, has taken over the entire Gaza Strip, which has allowed al-Qaeda through Egypt. Also Russian weapons now are just streaming across the Egyptian border that’s reinforcing Hamas in that area. We’ve got including state of the art, anti-tank and anti-aircraft weapons, which you had never had in that area before. We’ve got Syria that’s arming Hezbollah in Lebanon and also they’re trying their best to overthrow the legitimate government in Lebanon.
They’re also reinforcing installations north of I can’t remember the name of that river but it’s out of reach of the unifil UN troops. He got Syria that has just opened up a highway on the other side of the Kolan Heights that He’s been close since the 67 war and also about eight or nine months ago they have been clearing their minefields and creating a path that Israel fears that they can maneuver armored divisions up into the Golanites. Demajod just had a surprise meeting with him over the weekend and he’s promising a summer war he also sent a gift of a billion dollars that’s what it be and they’ve got an order in for 400 blushing tanks that has just announced that he’s going to give up the west bank a lot of pressure from the state department here in the United States.
Bush just announced that he was going to give $498 million, that’s almost half a billion dollars, to prop up a boss’s regime over there. And what’s really concerning going back to Syria is Russia has a defense pact with Syria and Iran that if any nation attacks either one of those countries, they’ll come to their defense. which kind of brings back the prophecy, you know, I’ll put hooks in his jaws and bring him, you know, to where he doesn’t want to go.
There’s an awful lot of stuff happening over there. You also got Turkey massing 200,000 troops on the border with Northern Iraq and threatening to invade the Kurds. All this stuff is happening and more. I don’t want to keep on going, but what’s also interesting is hardly any of this is being reported in the press here in the US. I’d just like giving you that. Mira, the things I just gave you. Can you give us our hang up? Can you give us maybe your impression of where we are in Bible talks?
All right, Dwight, that’s amazing, isn’t it? I believe we’re very close to the Lord’s return. And certainly, other things as well, then the Sunday, St. Peter’s free time here in this area, has a big article here. It says, microchips for people raised fears and hopes. And it’s talking about how they want to chip everybody. This thing about wanting to chip everybody in the whole US is moving forward. Of course, Europe, many times, are chipping people already. I think the mark of the beast is probably going to be fulfilled in some sort of a chip in planet, in a person’s skin, in their hand or their forehead, and all buying and selling will be controlled by that.
But certainly we see the Middle East boiling right now, and obviously something is going to happen here, And we know that this is probably the beginnings of what will lead the way to the tribulation period. The Bible talks about in 1 Thessalonians about how that it’s like the birth pangs that a woman has is pregnant. And as we get closer and closer to the birth, the woman has more and more pains and they’re happening in a more frequent amount of time and intensity.
And certainly the same thing is true. It says here about the Lord’s return that as we get closer, the birth pangs will be evident. And I think we’re seeing that. And so many things that are happening, what I’m concerned about since the United States in Bush and the kind of Alisa Rice are pushing Israel to give up the West Bank. Do you remember what happened when they were forced to leave the Gaza? It was almost like the Bible prophecy about an eye for an eye and tooth for tooth that whatever happened there because of our influence in the Gaza happened here in the United States just the next week.
Do you remember what happened with Katrina? Just as the people in Gaza were being evacuated, so were the people in our country being evacuated because of Katrina. As you saw them in the news, they were being extracted from off the housetops of rooftops there in Gaza. So were our people extracted from rooftops by helicopters in the Katrina incident. And as they lost their homes that they had worked for and built and lived in, so did the people of the Katrina storm lost their homes.
And blow for blow, I for I. It seemed like there was an absolute retribution here against the United States. There’s an interesting book out called I to I by Alton and Koenig which he actually outlines numerous times when decisions made in Washington were against the Jewish people in the state of Israel that there was a repercussion that there was a curse that came back upon us. I think the promise in Genesis 12 is still active today where it says I will curse them that curse you and I’ll bless them that bless you.
It seems as today America is turning against Israel that the curses are coming back upon us as we curse Israel. It’s something to think about and I think we need to be watching here in the coming weeks and months as we force Israel to leave the West Bank. We might see things happening here that are going to be scary in the way of God bringing a judgment upon the US of A. Ah boy, I’m getting nervous about that as you know what happened with Katrina and I sure hope it doesn’t come here to Tampa, Florida where I live.
that in any case we’re living in the last days and boy you really hit the… The bottom there about what’s going on and it’s amazing that our American News is silent on all these things. But we have a lot of callers that want to get on the air. We’re going to have to hold them all now to the second half of the show. Because we’re coming up on the break. We do want to remind you that we will have the classes tomorrow night.
If you live outside of the Tampa Bay area you can take them on the internet. You can call up and sign them and get the passcode and watch them. You can sign up and also get the 12 hours of CDs if you’d like. If you’re in the Tampa Bay area, you’re welcome to come and join us in the classroom tomorrow night. And we have five more weeks to go, ten more hours of teaching for a total of twelve hours of teaching on the Gospel of John.
It’s going to be really a wonderful, wonderful series. Again, Bibleline is listeners supported. I have a note in front of me here from a dear lady who says, I listen to you on Bible line. I’ve learned a lot. I’ve been saved since I was 38, but I’m now 87. Can you imagine? And many times we hear from those that are over 70, over 80 that are listening to Bible line and tell us how much they learn.
And we just are thrilled that what God is doing and reaching out to people and many Many people tell me they’re hearing things they’ve never heard in church all their life. One man said, I’ve learned more in 30 days than I’ve learned in 30 years in church. That’s pretty incredible isn’t it? And we thank God for what God is doing through this program. Hopefully you’re enjoying it. Would you send a gift to Bibleiner? Give one by credit card over the phone today.

We are going to do the second half hour Bible and we are coming to you live from Tampa, Florida from our studios here at the Calvary Community Church. We are very excited about the classes we have on Tuesday nights. You can come and if you are in the area sign up and be in the classroom with me.
It is the Gospel of John. What a grand book this one is. And we are going to go 2 hours per Tuesday night from 7 till 9 and tomorrow night we will do class 3 and 4. in the next week, five and six and so on, until we get all 12 hours of teaching on the Gospel John completed. You’re also invited to sign up and get a passcode and take it on the internet live or watch it as often as you want until this class series is over.

We’re on Channel 62 out of West Palm Beach on cable, I believe it’s Channel 13 throughout all of South Florida, everything from Port Lucie all the way down to Miami. You can watch our television program on the Christian television network out of West Palm Beach. So, tune us in if you’re in the South Florida area. And also on Thursday, we have our major television programs. We have a program on DirecTV that’s nationwide every Thursday night at 6.30 on on Channel 321 at 6.30 Eastern time.

We have people that actually watch our programs in Alaska and all across North America. And we get some calls from the Caribbean, from the islands, people watching our TV programs who are enjoying. You can also enjoy those programs. And if you wanna, a listing of those, to the internet and check out our TV page, our radio page.
We will have listings of all the things that we’re doing and the times, the stations, the frequencies and I think you’ll enjoy that. We are going to be going to the callers in just a moment. You can call in at 1-800-576-3771, 1-800-576-3771 and we hope that you’ll give us a call. We’re going to go first here to Jay in Sarasota. He’s been waiting patiently for a long time. Welcome to Bibleline your own here Good morning First of all, relating to that last call, it was very very interesting and I also have another inquiry but he brought up we’re not being taught what’s really going on and I wondered how can we obtain information not being reported by?
The best tool today is the internet. It’s amazing how you can go on there and search around and you can find these things but the main news I think are managed today. We stand about 50 different news agencies in the U.S. and now they’ve all been bought out by conglomerates. I think we’re down to about six. They actually manage our news and we’re getting spoon fed what they want us to hear. Not much of any substance is really being reported.
It’s disappointing. But it’s scary too. How did we get manipulated? And then the other question is, I wonder, can you explain how these sections of scripture mesh with one another as far as salvation is concerned, Matthew 7, 13 and 14, and Matthew 24 to 23. Thank you. Absolutely. In Matthew 7, Christ is talking about how the way to heaven is narrow. I believe he means by that that there is only one way and that is Christ. The broad way means you can choose any religion you want and they will all take you to hell because there is only one way.
So broad is the way that leads to destruction. There is probably 3,000 different cults, isms and asms and spasms just in the United States. any one of them that you choose will take you to hell. The only way to have an. He is not a religion, not an denomination, not an organization, but Christ Himself. When you believe or trust on Christ, then God saves you. But the problem is that most people choose one of the wrong ways. That’s the broad way that Christ speaks about.
The great statement is referring to Christ. The narrow way is Christ Himself. I used to take this wrong because I heard bad preaching, which it said that basically you got on this narrow road like a tightrope and you had to walk that road carefully and if you just kept your balance and kept on walking, you’d make it. That’s not really what it’s saying at all. It’s talking about the exclusiveness of salvation being in Christ and that as he says later in John 14, 6, I am the way.
So if you tie that in with that passage in Matthew He says, narrow is the way. And unfortunately, some of the newer translations change the meeting totally and they translate it hard as the way. Or difficult is the way. That’s a different concept altogether. That’s not what it’s saying. Narrow means there’s only one way. Unless you go to heaven through Christ, you won’t make it. Then later in the chapter, in verse 21, he says that only goes to do the will of the Father while in our heaven.
in heaven. Well, you need to know that God’s will for salvation is different than his will for you after your same. His will for salvation, here’s a great person. This is so good. You need to write it down as a cross-reference next to Matthew 721 at John 640. And it says, over there, this is the will of him that has sent me. That’s the Father. That everyone which acknowledgeeth the son, and recognize who Christ is. And believe is on him.
We’ll be raised again from the dead, and he’ll raise him up at the last day. So they’ll have everlasting life, and they’ll go to heaven. So the key is God’s will for salvation is to believe on Christ. And when you trust Christ, then God saves you. And that’s really what it’s saying there. Then verse 22 tells us about a large group of people that will not be saved, because They’re trusting in their works. They don’t say in verse 22, Lord, Lord, didn’t we trust that you died and shed your blood at the cross?
They all say, Lord, Lord, didn’t we preach in your name and heal in your name and do wonderful works in your name? Christ said, that’s the wrong answer. I’m sorry. I never knew you. He doesn’t say, I once knew you and I lost you. He says, I never knew you. So this is a religious crowd, but lost because they don’t trust in the death barrel and the resurrection of Christ for their salvation. They’re trusting in the good deeds that they’re doing and they’re boasting about it in verse 22 and in verse 23 Christ said I never knew you Fine.
Thank you very much. That’s been very helpful. All right. Thank you for listening and God bless. I tell you we have wonderful group of listeners all around we’re now going to go to Benjamin and Benjamin is in Clearwater, Florida. All right Benjamin you’re on the air Good morning, Dr. Hank In Genesis 16, say to him of your country and your relative, and go to the country that I shall show you. And Abraham disobeyed God and a heat to his father and all relative with him.
And also in the 16th, God promised him a son, and he take Sarah Servant, and he gets a son, the name Ishmael. Now, our hand has consequences for what he did. Thank you. Thank you. All right. He certainly did. Abraham, nothing really happened until he totally separated himself from these family members and God wanted him to go by himself. He was going to use Abraham to form a nation of people that would be God’s witness to the rest of the world and would also be the ones who would bring us the scriptures and also the Messiah.
That has been fulfilled. The Jewish people have been a witness to God’s faithfulness. Whatever God says, it happens. And look at the history of Israel, the very fact that they were scattered when they rejected Christ at the first coming. And now, of course, they have returned back to the land, just like the Bible said in anticipation of the second coming. And we are excited that we’re living right now in the last days. But yes, Abraham, didn’t really mature in his faith until he learned a lot of lessons the hard way.
And obviously we as believers need to learn from the lives of men like Abraham to say, let’s not go through all of the difficult times and problems that Abraham went through because of his lack of faith or because of his disobedience. But let’s just go take the shortcut and just get obedient right from the get-go and get in on God’s blessings early for us. Thank you for calling in. The phone number here at BibleIn is 1-800-576-3771 and we invite you to give us a call.
We have a number of callers calling in from all over and we I think answered this next one last week. Terrence in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, and I found out that that is real close In Georgia to Chattanooga and they must be listening out of the Chattanooga station We’re excited about how Chattanooga has put us on now four hours a day in Chattanooga We’re on a 10 in the morning 40 afternoon 10 at night and 4 a.m. in the morning so four hours a day Five days a week run in Chattanooga run in Nashville.
We’re on in Memphis We’re on in the capital of Michigan in Lansing. We’re on in Flint and the second in Michigan. And we’re on in the capital of New York Albany and Utica. We reach over to some of the other states up in that area. We’re on in Richmond, Virginia. We’re on in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, big 50,000 water. And we reach a lot of Pennsylvania and bleed over to the other states as well from that big station. And we’re on in Pensacola, Florida, Mobile, Alabama, in Jacksonville, Florida.
We welcome all the new listeners in the Jacksonville area. And we’re on into land, Florida, which reaches all the way back to Orlando. And we’re excited about all the different places in Sarasota, Florida, on 91.3 in Sarasota on FM. And pray for us as Bible and Reach is out and expands. And in any case, Terrence said, you always clear my mind with your easy to understand answers. And we will support you financially soon. Well, God bless you, Terrence. And thank you for your call from Fort Oglethorpe in Georgia.
That station in Chattanooga reaches northern Alabama, northern Georgia, and of course, different parts of Tennessee there where they all kind of merged together. Richard calls in from Treasure Island and he says, is it okay to say God bless you or bless you to someone who claims to be a pagan when they sneeze? I think that’s fine. Certainly you don’t want to bless their paganness, but if you say God bless you in response to something they say contrary to God’s word or some false teaching that they are spousing, then that would come back on you.
You certainly don’t want to say God bless you just indiscriminately, but certainly, obviously, we want to see lost people come to Christ and we want to express words of kindness. And apparently, when you sneeze, your heart stops temporarily, so you want their heart to keep on beating so that you can lead them to Christ. So I don’t think there’s a problem in saying, God bless you when somebody sneezes. We’re going down to Jupiter 4 and we have Norine on the line.
Norine, we welcome you to Bimline. Thanks for calling in. Yes, I’d like to donate some money. All right. Well, I can give you back to my operator to do that. But if you have a question, you’re on the air with me right now. Would you like to ask a question? Well, I want to get some of your tracks. You have tracks, what is it? $15 for a hundred? They got a good salvation message, I’m sure, on them. We have a wonderful track.
That one is so powerful that we’ve had many reports of people just reading the track and getting saved. If you just get it in your hands and if they read it, they can get saved. So let me give you back over to my operator and he’ll take your order. And so this also is our radio line and our order line at the same time. So our operators will take that call from Noreen. Alrighty, we’re going to go on to the next one.
In any case, we have another offer of question here. James in Tampa, Fortas, is my daughter, asked me where did God come from? The answer to that question is that God is eternal. He’s always existed, always will exist. That’s a concept that you’ll have to try to grasp. It’s obviously the concept of infinity. He’s always been, always will be, and will never cease to be. And that’s the best way I know to answer. Just tell him that God Himself, my virtue, the fact that He’s God has always been, He’s the creator of everything else that exists.
Time and space was created by God Himself. We have Diane in Tampa, Florida. She writes it on this email question off here. When the Bible says to obey all God’s commands, is he speaking of just the Ten Commandments? I think God told me to do something yesterday, but how do I know for sure? Will I be punished if I don’t? Well, you know when we talk about the commandments given from Mount Sinai, there are about 969 commands there. And we’re not under the Old Testament law, so you’re not obligated to do it because the law demands it.
But yet, if we love the Lord, which is the greatest of the commandments, then we’ll do many of them because we simply find that we do it from the heart and not because of the command thou shalt not. In other words, if you love your neighbor as yourself, then you’re not going to kill your neighbor. You’re not going to commit murder. If you love your neighbor as yourself, you’re not going to steal from him, so you’re not going to rob from your neighbor.
If you love your neighbors yourself, you’re not going to lie to your neighbor, so you’re not going to bear false witness. So basically, if you love the Lord, you should not obviously be breaking any of the commandments, but we see the commandments in a different light. In the New Testament, we do them from the heart because we want to, not because we’re obligated to do so. Hopefully that helps a little bit. When you are thinking that God is asking you to do something, make sure it’s in line with scripture or Yes, you will be in the wrong Okay, we have now a caller from Beverly Hills, Florida and we have Betty on the line Betty.
Welcome to Bibleline. I knew are on the air Good morning brother lunch. Don’t good morning. I’ve been morning. I’ve been asked several times about Psalm from 122.6, the Peace of Jerusalem. They shall prosper that love thee. And I’ve been asked, knowing the future of tribulation, actually, that Israel is going to be going through, I have come to the conclusion that perhaps in Isaiah chapter 62, it says, verse 1, for Zion’s sake, I will not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest.
until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness and the salvation therefore as a lamp that burneth. And then also in Isaiah 62 verses 6 and 7 says, I have said, Watchmen upon thy will also Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night. You that make mention of the Lord keep not silence. And verse 7, He is hand meaning nowhere till he establish until he make Jerusalem a praise in the earth. Do you think that would be a good cross reference there, Brother Lynch Jr.?
Oh absolutely, I think that’s wonderful. It’s a great passage. And obviously those are things yet to be fulfilled. It will be fulfilled at the second coming. When Christ will deliver Jerusalem, he’s the great deliverer the Bible says, greater than Moses. One that Moses had actually predicted come one day. Of course he came the first time to be our Savior and died and shed his blood for the forgiveness of our sin becomes a second time as a great king and deliver and Israel will obviously be delivered from her enemies and Jerusalem will become the world’s capital with Christ ruling over the earth from Jerusalem.
That’s kind of exciting. I was just in Jerusalem in March of this year and Jerusalem now has a population of 700,000 people. Isn’t that amazing? It’s quite a large city. I live in Tampa, Florida here and our city population is about 350,000. But can you imagine a city of double that? Is Jerusalem 700,000 people? Yes, I was there in 1990 and I agreed with you. Laying in my bed in the evening it sounded like any other large city in the world.
But we were right in Jerusalem, Israel. Well, it’s grown considerably since 1990 and growing every day. I mean, there’s a tremendous amount of expansion in all the little hills around Jerusalem become the suburbs and it’s quite a large city. It’s exciting and God has got a plan and obviously he’s going to come back to the city and rule over the earth seven years after the rapture. I’m leaving after rapture. Who knows? It could be this year certainly the tribulation period is really about the Middle East and we can see the Middle East boiling right now.
Something’s going to happen and what if it happens with as a vintage job is predicting a war here in August in the Middle East. And if that be the case, could this be some of the confusion that will go on at the same time when the rapture happens, perhaps in September, and be the kind of a cover for what’s really taking place when we’re raptured out that the world will be busy, concerned with a lot of other bigger problems than what happened to all these people with this spirit?
Yeah, I wouldn’t be surprised if that happened and coincided right at the time of the feast of trumpets I agree with you how hard it like they been so then you’re saying I’m not misconnecting scriptures when I say that that is a that would sort of be an answer of how to pray for the peace of Jerusalem the verses that are mentioned to you from Isaiah 62 that would be absolutely what beautiful verses they are all right thank you brother all right thank you and And now we’re going to go to, let’s see here.
We have a caller from Richmond, Virginia. We have Jonathan online, and Jonathan welcome to the Bible. You’re on here. Thanks to take my caller, Doug, eh? I had one, I actually have two questions. I just needed to get your opinion on what the scripture says that God will call all to Jesus. He’s the one who controls men to Jesus. Where does evangelism fit in? What is the thing when God is pretty much the one who is calling the people to the repentance?
Well, he uses people like you and me. It says in Romans 10, how shall they call on him in whom they have not believed and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard and how shall they hear without a preacher? And then it says how shall they preach except they be sent? So God sends people like you and me to tell others about Christ and when they hear the gospel message and believe that message, it becomes saved.
So God has a wonderful role for those that become believers that we can pass this message along. And when we share the message with others and they hear it and believe it, they become saved and we’re part of the process. And so it’s a wonderful privilege that we have. That’s what the great commission is about. He sends us as believers out into the world and we’re to preach to every creature. The word preach, by the way, doesn’t mean behind a pulpit.
It has nothing to do with style. It has to do with content. It means to announce, to herald, to proclaim. However you do that, whether you whisper it, whether you write it on a piece of paper and pass it to someone, whether you do it over the radio or whether you do it with a megaphone or whether you just do it over the telephone or on the internet with an email. However you get the gospel to somebody else, you’re preaching.
Okay. One more question, Dr. Anker. I’m going to hang up and listen to you. I get a lot of ministers using the word TAV, and I know that’s the Old Testament law. Oh, actually, Old Testament tact that was for the people, but they’re using and saying that God told them to TAV. I know we ought to be givers and givers are freely giving, you know, of the heart. And I just want you to stand on that. I don’t see how God told to tithe.
It is really not about tithes about getting from the heart. Can you explain on that? Absolutely. The tithe was a part of the Old Testament law, and you were required under the law to give. It was absolutely an obligation that you must do that. and obviously it was much more than 10 percent for those that want to do a good study. I love the book Balancing the Christian Life by Charles Ryrie. We have it here as a book. to help you grow.
It helps you get some balance in direction in which where you’re going. It deals with giving and tithing and it deals with the gifts of the Spirit. It deals with what really Lordship is all about and when Lordship should kick in and that’s after you get saved as a means of becoming a disciple and getting in on the rewards that God has for us. But, uh, Tithing was under the law. Under the New Testament, uh, we’re never- We’re never told to tithe, but we’re to give from the heart a portion, so we’re to give No.
a percentage, an amount out of how God has blessed us, and we’re to give it hilariously or from the heart, not because we have to, but because we want to. We’re grateful. Thank you for calling in, and we are out of time. We’re going to have to kind of wind it up here. We hope that you’ve enjoyed today’s Bible and program.
