Anyway, we are now going to get into the Bible for a few minutes. If you have your Bible handy, you might want to take a look with me at the Bible. And if you have questions or comments you can call in a little bit. You can start calling now in fact 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. I’m going to turn to Hebrews chapter 6. This comes up so often. It says here, for it is impossible. Hebrews 6 verse 4, for those who were once enlightened, have tasted of the heavenly gift, were made partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the world come.

This is talking about believers. This is one of the times I disagree with Dr. Stofield’s notes, and that’s where he seldom his notes are usually right on, but he tries to say that these are professed believers. I think Hebrews is basically a difficult book for most and there are very few commentaries written on Hebrews. When they do write a commentary, it’s very short and condensed because they really don’t deal with the difficult problems. By the way, I have a 10-hour teaching on Hebrews where I cover all of the difficult passages, and we go verse by verse through the whole book, chapter 1, right through chapter 13.

You might want to call and get that CD series. It will be helpful to resolve the problems for you. Well, it’s saying in verse 6, if they shall fall away. Now the question is, are they falling away from being saved and the answer is no. Once you become saved, you cannot be lost. That’s very, very basic. Jesus says in John 6, 37, him that come to me, I will in no wise cast out. That means under no circumstance would Christ ever cast you out.

And even better is verse 39 where Jesus said he would not lose one of those that have come to himself. One person were ever lost after they had become saved. Christ would be a liar. The Word of God would be a lie and you couldn’t trust it. But the Bible is clear that you cannot be lost. What this is talking about is falling away from serving Lord, falling away from your steadfastness, falling away from your confidence, falling away from your assurance of salvation.

You know it says over in chapter 10 of Hebrews, cast not away therefore your confidence, your assurance. Peter talks about falling from your steadfastness. And so if you are drifting away, as it says in chapter 2 of Hebrews, that we might drift away from the things of serving the Lord. It’s talking here about it’s impossible for you to go back and become saved again. What you need to do is start serving again. If you’ll notice verse 9, he says, Beloved, he’s writing to believers.

He says, Beloved in verse 9, we are persuaded better things of you and things that accompany salvation. This is what We’re speaking about the writer says. So he’s talking about things that accompany salvation. He’s not talking about loss of salvation or regaining salvation. What he’s saying here in verse 6 is if we fall away, it’s impossible to renew them again under repentance. That means the change of mind occurred when you got saved. Earlier in this book, it says in chapter 6 and verse 2, verse 1, here it talks about the foundation when you got saved is a repentance from dead works.

You know I don’t hear any preachers use that phrase. Here phrase the phrase repent of sin which by the way does not even occur in your Bible or mine. The phrase now repentance occurs in the Bible but the phrase repent of sin does not occur in the Bible. And actually, it’s a crazy phrase because if you know the meaning of repent, which comes from the Greek word metanoia, M-E-T-A, metamines changed, noia, N-O-I-A means mind, the two words together metanoia mean a change of mind, what does it mean, repent of sin?

Well, usually preachers define it wrongly as turning from sin, that’s certainly not true. But if you were to change your mind about sin, I don’t know about you. But I was always raised from a little teeny thought that sin was wrong. If I repented of my sin, would I change my mind and say, oh my goodness, sin is wonderful. What have I been missing all my life? Of course, that’s not the right answer. But that’s really what means. It means a change of mind.

If you, like I, have been taught that sin was wrong, would we change our mind and think that sin is wonderful? So the phrase repent of sin really is not a correct phrase to use. It’s not even in the Bible, not even once. Isn’t that amazing? But here it does say, and this is a legitimate phrase in verse 1 of Hebrew 6, Repentance from Dead Works. Can you imagine preachers on Sunday morning with their finger pointed at the congregation?

Repent from Dead Works. Repent from Dead Works. Well, at least it would be doctrinally sound. And what it would mean is you need to change your mind and recognize that works can’t save you that they can’t produce life. Life eternal life is in the person of Christ. Jesus said in John 14, 6, I am the way. I am the truth. I am the life. And then he said, no man can come under the Father but by me. So we need to, and most people are works oriented.

Most people think they have to do something of self to earn their way to heaven. I was raised thinking there was a scale in heaven and that when I died the books would be brought out. They would read off the good works that I did, the bad works that I did. Angels would help. They would apply weights to both sides of the scale to represent my good works as verses my bad works. And I was hoping that I had enough good works to outweigh the bad works and I would get in the world religions teach that.

And the cults teach that. It seems to be common with everybody who has the wrong message. The true message from the Bible is that salvation is not based on works. It’s not of works Ephesians 2 9 says, unless any man should boast or write. You cannot say that you did anything to receive the gift of eternal life. It is a gift from God. And the great hymns seem to reflect I like the hymn writer who said, What can wash away my sin?

And the answer is nothing but the blood of Jesus Christ. Nothing could wash away your sin. Only the blood of Christ could wash away your sin. I love the hymn Rock of Ages. The second stanza says, Could my tears forever flow? Could my zeal no respite know? This for sin could not atone. Thou must save, and thou alone. In my hand no price I bring simply to thy cross I cling.” Well that hymn writer had it right. You don’t bring anything.

You say, look at this God, look at what I did. In my hand it says here, that is no price I bring, simply to thy cross I cling. The true message of the gospel goes back to the cross and what Jesus accomplished there that he fully and completely paid our sin debt by his death and shed blood. Here we have the Bible talking about what happens when you get saved. It’s a change of mind about how you’re saved. That works can’t save you.

They can’t produce life. They’re dead. to trust Christ is the way to be saved. And it says here in verse 6 that if you were to get away from the Lord, you don’t need to go back and become saved again. Why? Because He’s already saved you eternally. I’m saved forever. And I’ve been saved ever since I trusted Christ and I’m saved forever. I’m never going to be cast out, John 637. I’m never going to be lost, according to John 639.

promised that it was the God the Father’s will that he would not lose one person, not even one. That’s how people once they get saved, you’re stuck. You have to go to heaven whether you likeRuss. But here’s talking about getting back and serving the Lord again. It says, if you go back and try to become saved again, verse 6, if they fall away, to renew them again under repentance is impossible, seeing they crucified to themselves, the Son of God afresh.

What it’s saying here is that although Christ would never die again, whenever you attempt to be saved again, you’re crucifying and it says Christ all over again to yourself. And the Bible says, you’re putting him to an open shame. It’s blasphemy to try to make Christ die again to pay for your sin when he paid for the sins of the whole world past, present and future at the cross by his one time death. It says in Hebrews 10, 14, by one offering, He hath perfected forever those that are sanctified.

So once you trust Christ, you are perfected forever. And what Hebrews 6 is talking about is service and rewards. It says in verse 10 of Hebrews 6, God is not unrighteous to forget your work and your labor of love. He’s going to remember everything you’ve done for Him and it’s going to be rewarded. So if you’re a believer who has fallen from your steadfastness, who’s drifted away from the things of God, well you’re going to lose that on reward.

You need to wake up and not go back and try to become saved again, but you need to go back and start serving again. And once you serve, God is going to bless you and reward you for that. I’m Dr. Inquinsen, this is by the line. We’re going to go to the phone lines. We have callers calling in and you can call in at 1-800-576-3771, 1-800-576-3771. Again I’m Dr. Englinseter and we’re going to chat at Nougat, Tennessee and we’re going to talk to Esther and Esther, welcome to Bibleline.

Yes, I’ll have that for you. Good morning. I have a question. These are that for our past, present, and future sins. As Christians, are we supposed to ask for forgiveness, a sin every time we think we have committed a sin? I think that Jesus is wrong because these are their already died for our sins. And how does this connect to 1 and 9? OK. That’s a very good question. And the answer is that no, we don’t have to ask what we need to do as it says in 1 John 1 9, confess our sins and then it says he’s faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all in righteousness.

That has to do with fellowship, it has to do with our walk, it has to do with the Christian life, it’s not a salvation verse, but it’s talking about as we walk in the light, verse 7, as he is in light, we have fellowship with the Lord. that fellowship give me broken by sin. But basically we need to confess our sins and then thank Him for having forgiven them as He promised in that wonderful verse. But as far as our eternal life is concerned, they’re all gone, gone, gone, gone as the old chorus would say that they’re gone as far as the east is from the west.

Our sins are gone, but as far as our daily walk, our sins do have consequences. And they break Fellowship though I definitely cause us to have loss of reward and loss of blessing in this life But salvation is a is a free gift So I recommend we just confess as we sin to the Lord and then thank him for his forgiveness But that’s not asking for no it is not Okay, that’s what I needed to know all right. Okay.

Thank you. You’re so welcome and that’s Esther in Chattanooga, Tennessee Tennessee listening in by the way we’re on in Chattanooga four times a day that’s right we’re on a 10 in the morning four in the afternoon ten at night and four a.m. in the morning so you can get four hours of Bibleline if you’re in listening distance of a station in Chattanooga we have Steven St. Petersburg and Steve welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Good morning pastor I had a question about, it’s about the Rapture, something that’s that important to all of us believers.

I was just wondering if there’s any other scripture besides the Thessalonians that is clear about the Rapture or talks about it in some way that decides just, you know, there’s like four verses in Thessalonians and there’s one in the first half or ten, one ten. But other than that, I don’t find it a whole lot. Well, there’s a whole bunch. And you know, one of the great passages is in 1 Corinthians 15. And it talks about beginning in verse 51, right through 58, about how there are two groups.

Those that have died and will be, their corrupted bodies will be raised incorruptible at the rapture. and then talks about another group that are mortal but are still living that will be given immortality at the moment of the rapture when we’re caught up to meet him in the air. So it tells us that it happens in the twinkling of an eye, not the winking of an eye, but the twinkling of an eye. In John chapter 11, Jesus said in verse 25, I am the resurrection and the life.

He to believe it to me, though he were dead yet shall he live. That’s the the first group that thessalonians talks about, but then he talks about another group in verse 26, and whosoever believeth, or liveth and believeth in me shall never die. So he’s talking about a living group at the end of the age that will have believed on Christ that will never die. They’ll be exempt of death and simply caught up to meet the Lord in the air.

That is exciting. So that’s another one. I have no problem believing it’s just convincing other people. I know. Well, that’s a beginning right there. And I think I covered pretty much all the passages that I know about the Rapture in my Rapture series that’s available. I think we did 12 hours of teaching, covering all the wrong positions. We believe in the pre-trib rapture that we don’t go through any of the tribulation, but I covered the partial trib, the mid-trib, the post-trib, the pre-rath trib, and so on and so on and so on and uh…

and uh… and there’s a lot of great passages and maybe that would be helpful also we have a book here by uh… in a resource that are called the rapture by tim ohay which is pretty good and uh… he has a a lot of verses listed up better rapture verses We have to distinguish between those and the second coming because they’re not the same. I think we covered that last week in one of our broadcasts where we talked about Matthew 24 and the two in the field.

The one is taken, the other is left not being the rapture, but the second coming where the one that’s taken is taken in judgment as the lost were in Noah’s flood and the ones that are left like no one in the family in the ark were left to repopulate the earth. So will those that are left be the saved who will repopulate the earth during the millennial kingdom of Christ Okay, thanks a lot. I appreciate it. All right. Thank you.

Steve at Steve in St. Petersburg And thank you for calling in we have Jerry in Valrico, Florida and Jerry welcome to Bible in your own year This is all I got two questions. First question is, could you please explain the pleading of the bread of Jesus Christ in two right after the resurrection? Most people didn’t recognize Christ. It wasn’t until right they recognized him in his own reason for that. All right, well, I think, and I don’t wouldn’t say that most, but Mary certainly didn’t in John 20.

She had been crying, you might remember. And I think because of her crying and her tears, she wasn’t, first of all, expecting to see Christ come back from the dead. And I think that was a problem with all of them. They didn’t really believe that he would. And then she’d been crying. I think her vision was somewhat blurred, but as soon as Jesus called out her name, Mary, boom, she turns around and realizes this is Christ. So she did recognize him, but not by sight at first because I think her eyes were blurred.

But yet later on that first day, we found that all of his disciples recognized him. Let me turn to Matthew, rather Luke chapter 24. This was a great chapter 24, and here it says that as they thus beg, here the disciples were all together, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them and said unto them, Peace be unto you, but they were terrified and affrighted, and suppose that they had seen a spirit or a ghost, and he said unto them, Why are you troubled?

Why did thoughts arise in your hearts? He holds my hands and my feet, and it is I myself, handled me in sea, for a spirit or ghost hath not flesh and bones as you see me have. So here he shows himself, identifies himself, and that’s the first day of the resurrection. So we didn’t have to go too far after he actually came back from the dead to find. They did recognize him and of course before that happened over in John 20 we have Mary there still around the area of the garden tomb and she recognizes him but not by sight but by his voice when he said Mary she spun around and she knew it was the Lord.

Hope that helps a little bit and so I think that you know if you read the account carefully was 17 distinct appearances of Christ listed in the New Testament during that 40 days where Christ showed Himself alive after the resurrection and pretty powerful witnesses. Thank you so much, Gary, and we are now going to Brother Atwell in Sonon the Sasa, Florida. And Brother Atwell, I haven’t heard you for a while. How you doing? I’m doing pretty good. How you doing?

I’m doing real good and you sound just good as can be Well, I’m always as good as I can be with the law, man. All right. Well, you have a question today What I wanted to say, I’ve been listening to the poor guy on the spot and as you know I was listening. Now to the people, you know, it amazingly, how God’s people don’t want to work for the Lord. You know, they always use the same excuse where our works won’t save you.

But the Bible tells me that we’re saved under good works. Well, you’re right about that. I certainly agree with you every believer I’ll show you my faith who you what it was made up about what he was doing for the Lord. And these people, you know, if you know Rich Run Young Ruler that come up there and ask Jesus in heaven.

You know I had read that over and over and over again and it really never dawned on me what it was all about but it finally got to me and what happened was he told him about the commandment. He’s all I can for all the commandment. Jesus told him, well, there’s one thing to do. You got to do. And he said, you got to go sell everything you got and give it all to the pool. Well, you know what it was, brother, that he didn’t have?

He didn’t have no love. And that’s what’s wrong with the churches today. If you know about greatest commandment is love. And if we don’t show any love, we’re going to miss out. You’re right. As far as the Christian life is concerned, but we need to serve the Lord and blessings and rewards come as a result. This poor fellow there in Matthew 19 that you’re referring to though Christ gave him the full package. He said, come and if you come to Christ you become saved and that’s over in chapter 19 and verse 21.

But then he also said, follow me, and following me has to do with the Christian life. And as we follow Christ and as we give and serve will be rewarded. And later in the chapter it defines the two as separate. When you come you inherit eternal life which is a gift. And then as you follow you’ll earn a hundred fold reward which is really a 10,000 percent reward. If you want to hang on you can at well we’ve got to go to break here.

We want everybody to tune or stay tuned right where you are because we really come right back and do a second half hour Bible and so keep your radio dial tuned right where it is and Bible and we’ll be right back and Thank you for listening in today Don’t go away Bibleline. It’s always a real joy to meet our listeners and we look forward to meeting you sometime. If not here in the air, we’ll meet you because the Lord is coming and maybe that rapture will be here soon and we thought and I’m definitely going to meet all the believers at that time. What is amazing to me is that a lot of people who profess to be Christians really aren’t saved. And that is scary, isn’t it? Because I was one of those.

I was raised in church for the first 18 years of my life. I was confirmed and baptized, demonetized, pasteurized, capsized, Simonized. You name it, I went through it. But I wasn’t saved. And you know, it wasn’t until somebody presented it very clearly to me. At a Bible study my sister invited me to that I heard for the first time how I could be sure of going to heaven and boy Didn’t take me a you know long to figure out.

This is the best deal I’ve ever heard and I trusted Jesus Christ as my Savior and received that wonderful free gift of everlasting life It was great and I’m so glad that I heard that wonderful message and obviously we’re concerned about you that are listening, that you know the Lord is your Savior. And if you’ve never trusted Him as the only means of your salvation, you need to do that because if you’re trusting in your works or your efforts or what you’re going to do or not do to save you, you won’t make it.

Our works have to do with a Christian life and that’s what Brother Atwell has brought to our attention. We’re going to go back and talk to Brother Atwell again and we’re so glad that you called in good to hear from the brother at well and we’ll pick up where we left off here a moment ago you still there let’s see here and I think he’s there all right brother at well yes all right we had to go to break there but we’ve had your back gonna on the line with us yeah I’ve been out of tab you know I’m an old railroad man and you know I can’t stay it’s a can’t stay too long I do my I do my I got you well, that’s wonderful.

I’m glad you send your like you in good health and we you Good Can’t do nothing without him, you know, amen well God bless you and thanks for calling in again I know people ask me from time to time have you heard from brother at well That well, that’s the matter. You heard from it now. Tell them I’m all here. I’m still kicking and I’m still happy and praising my law. Amen well, thank you a lot God bless you all right Well, that was brought out while we have had a long relationship, but I was been calling for They hadn’t been calling lately, but we’ve got a glad he’s still out there We have Lloyd in Clearwater, Florida now and Lloyd welcome to Bible in your own Okay, thanks Turn that radio down and you’re on there.

I’m shooting away from it. Okay. I know that game Alright, you have the question for us today It’s gonna be about Mary. Okay and the Catholic religion Okay. What is the question? Okay. The question is Catholicism. How do they justify praying to Mary? Well, you know, it’s amazing. I don’t think they try to justify it. I think they just do it. And the Bible, though, of course, forbids praying to the dead, which Mary would be in the category of all those that have died, and although she was a wonderful woman, she cannot hear our prayers.

The Bible says in 1 Timothy 2 5, and this is what I like to bring up, it says there’s one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. So Jesus is the only mediator. So to try to get a prayer through to God or Christ through Mary is not going to work according to the Bible, and that’s really unfortunate that they get caught into this bad teaching, but also this President Pope claims that he prays to the former pope to get advice on how to be a good pope.

So they pray to the dead. It seems to be a common practice in Catholicism. And every time they pray to the saints, they’re also breaking this rule that’s very, very clear in the Bible. You’re not the prey to the saints. And they pray to the dead. So these are people who have died, and they’re praying to them for help. There is again 1 Timothy 2 5. There is one meat eater between God and men. The man Christ Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven.

Jesus said, I know, I just do it. And there is not much you can do except to point out what the Scriptures say and say And say that they’re doing something that’s false and forbidden in the Bible. Right. It’s so frustrating because I have my grandchildren all being raised in the Catholicism. And it’s just like my oldest just come up for me the other day and he said, Poppy, and he had us cross him to hand. He said, I haven’t had this blessed yet.

And I don’t want to. I don’t want to become a wedge with them of course. and thinking well how would you respond to that well obviously uh… that’s in the area of adultery you know to think that items can be blessed or give blessings is uh… it becomes uh… alan idol or work i remember the little boy having a rabbits foot being told if i carried that in my pocket that it would be good luck or would bring good fortune in i would be uh…

protected or safe and so on and and the whole thing about uh… the cross having special powers, you know, it’s almost like watching these movies with Frankenstein or the World Wars and so on and if you held up across they would cower and run and of course The power is not in an object that we hold or Or have in our possession. It’s in Christ himself. We don’t need any of those things and And that’s that’s the sad part is that the focus is wrong the focus should be on Christ who died on the cross not on a a replica of the cross which obviously has no value except as a reminder.

I know, used to blow my mind, I’d go to these less than wine. Well, I know, and of course in the Mass they claim that it’s magically at that moment transformed in the actual blood of Christ which we deny totally the Bible doesn’t teach any such thing and we believe that’s terribly, terribly wrong. I don’t know what to tell you. We have a book here called Understanding Roman Catholicism that helps equip you. It covers 37 major doctrines of the Roman Catholic Church quoting the Catechism of the Roman Catholic Church as the authority and then giving you scriptures on each of those 37 doctrines that teach the very opposite of what the Catechism is teaching the Catholic.

That’s a great book. That’ll help. that there’s some of the doctors over there you’ll have to come get one you know that it’s a great book understanding Roman Catholicism I think it’s only $12 and we could ship it out you can come by and pick one up yeah I’m over there quite a bit yeah one other thing they keep saying that certain groups are just talking with my group around the world they I’ve seen you know guys you know I don’t know where you come and you know that’s amazing and Mary of Of course, the famous ones are the Guadalupe Mexico appearance and the Fatima Portugal appearance and so on.

But it’s recurring all the time. I don’t believe it’s Mary at all because again, the dead don’t come back and they pray to the dead but they also expect the dead might appear. And this just is not possible. Mary is not coming back and making any appearances at all. Jesus said he’s coming back and I believe that and I believe he’s coming soon. But Mary is not coming back and Mary hasn’t come back and I think all these appearances are really a fraud.

And what is interesting is that Jesus appears with Mary but you never hear about that. If you read carefully the Fatima experience and the Guadalupe experience, Jesus is there but he’s either an infant in her arms or he’s a 12 year old boy. They don’t ever let him grow up and he’s silent. He doesn’t say anything, but Mary is the spokesperson that reverses what the Bible says. You know, Mary said, here ye him and and God from heaven said this is my beloved son, here ye him.

So we’re to listen to Christ not to Mary and Mary to say that she’s delivering messages in these appearances is again, I believe a very wrong teaching and it certainly is dangerous. Dangerous and not moving well at all. We need to look to the Bible and to what Christ told us and the Scriptures are clear that he’s the one that we’re listening to. Well, what I thank you for calling. It’s an ongoing thing where you just have to chip away to get them to look at the Bible.

If they can look at the Bible, I think then they can see that there’s a big rift between what the church is teaching and what the Bible says. And I wasn’t raising the Catholic Church, but the same thing was true of my church. When I saw the verse in Ephesians 2-9 that salvation was not of works, I’ll never forget saying, somebody’s wrong, somebody’s wrong. Either my church is right and the Bible is wrong, or the Bible is right and my church is wrong.

And I went with the Bible. I had to choose the Bible over my church. It’s a good bet about the Bible because it’s going to be the book to follow. and we’ll be praying for you. I know it’s tough especially to have grandchildren and people you dearly love that are caught up in that. Well thank you very much for doing a great job and or just keep it up. Thank you so much. All right we have some off here at college.

We want to try to catch some of those. You can dial in if you want it 1-800-576-3771. We have please explain In 1 Kings 22, 23 and 2 Chronicles 18 and 22, they seem to contradict the character of God. Here it talks about God giving a lying spirit. And I believe that if you don’t want to know the truth, God can allow Satan to deceive you as a believer. I think that’s what was taking place there, that people were departing from the word, and so they were then wound up listening to the wrong sources.

I think we have a lot of that happening today. Let me just quote Second Timothy 4, where it says in the latter days, which we’re living in right now, that they would not endure sound doctrine, but after their own lusts, They would gather to themselves teachers because they have itching ears they want to be entertained. And it says in verse 4 that they would be turned away from the truth, the word of God, and be turned into fiction or lies or fables.

And that’s what’s happening. People are listening to lies and believing them and they’re ignoring the Bible. And the same thing is happening that you’re talking about here, Aaron. and Aid City wrote in with this question here, but it’s the same situation. So hopefully that will help somewhat. We have Bob in New Brunswick, Connecticut, I believe I’m not too sure. He says, when, why did God send his son the first time? Well the answer is of course to pay for the sins of the world.

Jesus Christ came as God’s Lamb. When John the Baptist saw Jesus in John 1.29, he said, Behold the Lamb of God, which take it the way the sin of the world. Christ came to die so that you and I might be forgiven. That is when our redemption was purchased. Then at the second telling, Christ is going to set up an earthly kingdom that he’s been promising since the early pages of Genesis. where Christ will take control of this world that has been under control of Satan.

We believe that when God created the angels, He created the angels, and that all of the angels lived on the original earth of Genesis 1-1. And then perhaps 65 million years ago, Satan attempted a rebellion, took a third of the angels leaving the planet Earth to head for heaven and overthrow heaven. And when he did, God judged the Earth and killed all the dinosaurs, all the life on the planet. And a third of the angels were then judged. Satan still has the title he retained from the very beginning as the God of this world.

When Christ redeems mankind, or when he did it across, he defeated Satan, but when he comes at the Second Coming, by right of conquest he will take away the kingdoms of this world from Satan and they will become his kingdoms. I love Revelation 11.15, it’s a great verse. Handel said it to music, but it’s talking about that second coming and it says the seventh angel. And there are great voices in heaven saying, The kingdoms of this world are now become the kingdoms of our Lord and of his Christ and he shall reign forever and ever and ever.

While what a great verse it’s talking about. There’s a day coming when we’re not going to see these bad headlines that we read about every day. And we won’t see the tragic things in the news that you read about every day. Christ is going to come and take away this world from Satan’s grip. Right now Satan is the God of this world. Second Corinthians 4-4 tells us that Satan is the God of this world. And his business is to blind people that are unsaved and prevent them from hearing the wonderful gospel message.

The message that Christ paid for all of your sins, past, present and future by His death and shed blood was buried and rose again from the dead. This message, Satan hates because he knows it is the message that you can set that person free from the penalty of sin and death and to go to hell. And Satan wants to take as many with him to hell as he possibly can. It’s a great verse to read 2 Corinthians 4-4. But we find that when Christ comes back, let me read the verse against Revelation 11-15.

And this is at the end of the tribulation period, seven years after the rapture, the seventh angel sounded. And there are great voices in heaven saying, the kingdoms of this world are now being become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ and He shall reign forever and ever. So that kingdom that Christ will establish at the Second Coming will continue a thousand years on this earth and then it will continue on into eternity as God will destroy this earth and create a new heavens and a new earth but Christ’s kingdom will continue from His stepping down on the earth at the second coming right on out into eternity future.

Really exciting stuff. So Bob, the reason why Christ came the first time was to pay for our sin and to give us the gift of eternal life through faith in Him. But the second coming is when He will take over the earth away from Satan and establish His Kingdom which will go on forever. Adam in Denver, Colorado calls in He says, why do some people believe Enoch will be the other witness to return with Elijah? And the answer is of course because Enoch and Elijah never died.

Moses died, but I believe Moses is the other witness because of many things, especially in Revelation 11 that discusses these two prophets that will preach during the tribulation period after the Rapture that one will have the power to shut up the heavens so it doesn’t brain, that’s Elijah, and that’s what Elijah did during his time of prophecy here on his earth. And then we find the other one is Moses because it says he would have the power over the waters to turn them to blood and smite the earth with the plagues as often as he will.

I think the answer is in the book of Jude verse 9 where it tells us that Michael the Archangel got into a spute with Satan over the body of Moses. I think God has preserved his body so he can come back. And so there was a dispute there and of course Michael said the Lord reviewed thee. But apparently Satan was calling foul play. This is not fair that Moses has died and can come back. But I think God has preserved his body so he can come back and you can read that verse in Jude chapter 1 verse 9.

Kind of fascinating. Tim calls in from Lake Worth, Florida and he says, in 1 John 1 9, confess, how many times do we confess and what are we confessing? Well, it says in 1 John 1 9, if we, believers, the writer of 1 John is John the Apostle and he includes himself in that we, if we confess our sins. So, he’s talking about your neighbor’s sins, but confessing the things that you do, which are classified as sin according to the scriptures.

How often the verse implies as you sin. And as a believer we have a sin nature. And so if an evil thought comes into your mind or you say an unkind thing or you do something that violates what the Bible teaches you should do, then you should confess it right then. It has to do with our walk, our fellowship. And as you sin, your fellowship is broken, but as you confess, God forgives and cleanses so that your fellowship is restored.

So basically it’s a moment by moment walk with the Lord and when you recognize that you have sinned, then you need to confess that to the Lord. And we all do. I love Martin Luther the Reformer, the one who really pranked up the Reformation. And he was so down to earth and honest, he said that even… He was a talented guy. He translated the Bible from the German, rather from the Latin, into the German language. He wrote a lot of great hymns.

That wonderful hymn, A Mighty Fortress is Our God, was written by Martin Luther. He is a multi-talented man. When he He would say that he would confess in his writings that he would say, Martin, you are really good. He realized that that was sin. It was pride, contaminating the preaching of God’s Word. He said, Father, forgive me. I’m allowing that to happen. He obviously was honest enough to admit that he became prideful in the talents that God given him and even when he preached he found himself, patting himself on the back and saying how good he was.

Well obviously he’s a humble servant of God willing to confess his sins to the Lord and Tim I hope that helps down in Lake Worth, Florida. We have Hayes calling in from Nashville Tennessee. He says I would really like more in depth information on repentance. I’ve been taught to witness to tell people to repent from sin. Well, Hayes, you’ve been taught wrong. If you have internet access, go to my website, in the bottom right hand corner, go to Dr.

Lindstrom’s articles. I’ve got about four on repentance. And especially, think about this. In the Old Testament, Hayes, the word repent occurs 43 times in English. in English, and of those 43 times, 37 of those 43 times, it is God who repents. Only six times does man repent in the Old Testament. Now, if you have been taught that that means to turn from sin, then you’ve got a big problem. Obviously, you’ve got a holy sinless God, not capable of being able to sin, turning from his sin left and right, if you define repent as turning from sin.

It can’t mean that. It can’t mean that. And obviously that would add works to salvation. The Bible says that we can come just as we are. The human writer got it right. Just as I am I come without one plea but that thy bud was shed for me. So a lot of preaching has been wrong on this doctrine of repent and Satan must have been really happy because the problem is that the English word did not mean the same thing as the Greek word metanoia.

And metanoia means a change of mind. And if you read the book of Acts, it’s always about a change of mind about who is Jesus Christ on the day of Pentecost when Peter preached. He wasn’t talking about them turning from sin. He said, You all have crucified the Messiah when you thought he was a blasphemer. And they said, what should we do? And Peter says in Acts 2.38, we can’t change your mind. Realize that Jesus is indeed, as he says in verse 36, both the Lord and He is the Messiah.

And you need to change your mind and realize that and accept Him as the Savior. And trust Him as your very own Savior to be saved. And so I hope that helps a little bit. But the word repent has been wrongly translated. If you have a Schofield Bible, you can look up the note on repentance a hundred years ago, actually 1909, 90 years ago. You find that Dr. Schofield in the notes in the Bible says that repentance is the translation of the Greek word metanoia means a change of mind.

And it’s just very, very clear. I didn’t invent this doctrine. I mean, it’s always been there, but preachers copy preachers and preachers many times depart from the Bible and you have to go back to the Bible as the final authority. We’ll take one more here. Tyrone in Copper’s Cove, Texas calls in. He says, if you sin willingly, there remains no more sacrifice. Please explain. That’s in Hebrews 1026. And they’re saying that, and by the way, it could be translated, though you sin well for him, because I think Muslims are willful anyway, that there is no more sacrifice.

What it means is Jesus died once. It says in verse 10, by the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. So the fact that he died once was sufficient to save you eternally. So even if you sin willfully, you don’t need to have another sacrifice. saves you eternally by that one sacrifice. But then the verses go on to say that God will discipline you, and it’s a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God, verse 31.

It says in the verse before that that the Lord will judge his people. So those that become saved will be chasin’ed if they’re going to sin woefully, but they don’t need to become saved again. Because they’re saved eternally based upon what Christ did for them at the cross. We’ve had a good day, I hope you’ve enjoyed the program. We’re going to have to run here. If you can help us during these lean summer months, this is the month of August, your gift will be greatly appreciated.

Call and ask for an envelope to be sent to you and you can mail a gift to Bible and or you can give a gift by credit card over the phone. Also, don’t forget to ask for that resource list and we’ll send it out to you. Also, of course, go to the online bookstore on our website, BibleLineMinistries.org.com. We’ll be back tomorrow. I hope you’ll join us and if you go to the Internet, you can catch this program again and again and again all day long and all through the night until we beat again tomorrow.

People get up, Jesus is coming, and we believe very soon. You’ve been listening to Bibleline, a presentation of Bibleline Ministries of Tampa, Florida. Also our radio programs or TV programs, our worship services, everything’s there. And of course our online bookstore we can order materials and bibles and we have that old Scofield. You know a lot of people are encouraged when they go to the bookstore to buy that new hybrid Scofield.

And you don’t want to get that. They really watered the notes down and they have added new notes that are not about Dr. Scofield. They don’t even tell you who wrote them. So it’s kind of scary. You really don’t want to get that. We have the right one in our resource center here, the 1909 and 1917 editions, and they’re getting harder to get. Believe it or not, it’s getting tough. But the notes will benefit you for a lifetime. It is wonderful.

It’s the Bible I have used and continue to use. A lot of the new ones just really rob you of truth. I was giving a couple of scriptures on a card yesterday. I read and I said, whoa, they just don’t even come close to what the Bible says in the King James. And you get cheated out of meaning and the depth of what the Scofield has in the King James edition of it. I got to run, but call us.

And if you can give a gift to help us in the Sleece in summer month of August, that would be appreciated much. Call 815-63771. That’ll win. We’ll be back tomorrow. In the meantime, keep looking up.
