We’re welcome any brand new listeners today thank you for tuning in I’m Dr. England’s room this is Bible and we’re coming to you live from our studios right here at the Calvary the Community Church which is located just one block west of Tampa’s International Airport here in Tampa.
Easy to find, people coming from whatever direction, whether it be from the south, the east or the west or the north, all the major roads come right in here to the airport so it makes it really easy. It doesn’t look as if it does not. Well that’s the question. Okay, next question. You may notice that the color. That color is red. That’s the color. Yes, it’s a color. Yeah, well, the color is red. That’s the color. It’s a color.
Okay. That’s the color. Okay. The color is red. I don’t know. Dr. Hank Lindstrom is about zero on Sunday morning. So you can zing in here really fast. We have people that come from pretty good distances. And they find that they can just get right in here and get out of here rather quickly. They couldn’t do that on a weekday, but they can do it on Sunday. You’re welcome to come by and join us. This ought to be a good experience. And it’s really a test run for other opportunities for us to do webcastings on a particular doctrine, teaching where you can interact with me and be there learning the scriptures about a particular teaching from God’s Word.
We’re going to go to the Bible and then we’re going to come back and answer your questions and we hope that you will call the 1-800-number, 1-800-576-3771, 1-800-576-3771. We’re here in Tampa, Florida at our studios here at Bibleline at the Calvary Community Church. Our signal right now as I speak goes on special digital phone lines directly to Detroit. In Detroit they send this signal up on a satellite that’s 22,500 miles above the equator of the planet Earth. Radio stations then around the country take that signal off of the satellite and play it on the station that you’re listening to right now.
Even though I am on the air in Tampa, Florida, my voice first goes to Detroit up to the satellite 22,500 miles above the equator back from the equator to the local radio station here in the Tampa Bay area and out over the airwaves to your radio. Isn’t that amazing what a world we’re living in today with the technology to allow for that to happen. This is really wonderful because in the olden days you had to make cassettes of your program, ship them out to every radio station, they would play them, package them, ship them back to you, you would send more out and this was a real difficult thing because you had to get your programs to the stations long in advance.
We could do live right now and yet my voice is traveling to Detroit up to the satellite back down to the planet Earth, it’s wild. I think we’re in the last days. I think Christ is coming back soon. We’re going to talk about James for just a minute. And it’s interesting here, a lot of people like to appeal to James chapter two and the verse in verse 19 about demons. I have this note here. It’s actually a novel art up in Oregon sent to me.
And he tells me in this article, of course, that I’m wrong about what I’m saying here. He says, even the devils believe, he says, even the devils believe and trouble, but believing doesn’t do them any good, does it? So he’s telling us there’s more than just trusting Christ to be saved. Well, a lot of people get James wrong and they get this verse wrong also. It says in verse 19, I’ll believe is that there is one God, I’ll do as well.
The devil’s also believe in tremble. What you don’t realize here is that they are already judged. The demons have already been judged when Satan led his rebellion, they were all condemned to go to hell. Now, they’re consigned to go to hell, but they’re still alive and well here on the planet Earth. And what they’re trembling about is the fact that there’s a day of judgment coming when their works are going to be examined and they’re going to be assigned a degree of punishment in hell.
Wow! So before they’re cast in, they’re going to be evaluated and be judged according to their deeds. So some demons are going to be more greatly punished than others. It’s interesting if you read the Gospels, you know Christ came upon a man that was possessed by demons and the demons spoke out and said Jesus, are you here to persecute us before the time? In other words, they realized that they are eventually going to be in hell and they’ll be tormented and Christ of course is God and he’s in charge of hell as well as heaven.
And these demons are going to be assigned a degree of punishment. We have a part in that. That’s right in first Corinthians chapter 6. It says that we are going to judge the angels The angels we’re going to judge. I believe are the unsaved angels We will be there when they’re assigned their degree of punishment and cast into hell Let me tell you they believe that there is one God. They believe they are headed for hell They believe and are trembling about the degree of punishment that they’re going to receive when they’re cast into hell James is telling believers the same thing that you and I, although we’re not going to go to hell, as believers, we ought to tremble at the fact that we’re going to give it account one day and we could suffer the loss of reward in heaven.
Did you know that there are degrees of reward in heaven based upon our works? All those salvation is not by works. are degrees of rewards in heaven based upon our works. That’s right. And every believer will stand one day at what is called the judgment seat of Christ. Second Corinthians 5, 10 tells us that we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that everyone, that’s believers only now, may receive the things done in his body according to that which you have done, whether it be good or bad.
So everything we’ve done, I believe, since we’ve been saved, will be brought up at that judgment. And it says it will be tried by fire. And in 1 Corinthians chapter 3 and verse 14, it says, if any man’s work abide after the fire tries it, he’ll receive a reward. But if any man’s work shall be burned verse 15 of 1 Corinthians 3, he shall suffer loss, its loss of reward, but he himself shall be saved. We really ought to trouble at that fact that we are going to be judged one day and held accountable for what we have done since we have been saved.
James is warning those that he is writing to, that if they have not done any works they are not going to have any reward and they are going to suffer loss forever and ever. He reminds us even the demons recognize I said there’s a day when their works will be examined, as well as all the unsaved will have their works examined to determine the degree of punishment and hell. In other words, if you’re a believer, if you’ve trusted Christ, you’re saved based upon what Christ did for you, not based upon what you do for him.
But you will one day stand in a judgment where the degree of reward or loss of reward will be determined by your works. Lost people are lost because they do not believe on Jesus Christ because they reject Him as their Savior, and they will also stand at a judgment. A different one called the Great White Throne Judgment, described there in Revelation chapter 20 verses 11 through 15. Their works will be brought up. There will be a signed degree of punishment in hell based upon their works.
So, believers go to heaven, unbelievers go to hell. But believers will have their works examined to determine degree of reward or loss of reward. Whereas, unbelievers We will be judged to determine the degree of punishment and health. Art Thank you for listening to the Bibleline. Thank you for sending me this two-page lengthy note telling me how I need to change my message. But I’m afraid that you need to probably take a brand new look. The demons are fully aware of the gravity of the event that’s coming up for them where they’re going to be judged and cast into hell assigned a degree of punishment.
I’m going to be there. You’re going to be there. 1 Corinthians 6. It says don’t you know that you’re going to judge the angels. We’re going to be judging there and we’ll help assign these demons the degree of punishment that they’re going to have. Some have influenced you in your life. Maybe some have kept you blinded from many truths from God’s Word. Many have maybe hindered you in serving. One day that will all be exposed and you’ll have a chance to help assign them a degree of punishment and hell.
I’ve actually never heard this before. You know, most preachers don’t even talk about this. of them don’t rightly divide the word and separate between salvation and… The Christian life and between what determines the person going to heaven and hell versus the degrees of heaven and the degrees of hell for those that are saved or lost. Well the Bible is very real about that. James here is telling us what profit will you have if you say you have faith, but you don’t have any works Well profit speaks about reward the word gain the word profit the word reward all talk about things that are earned or deserved and Can be obtained by your service to the Lord But salvation’s never spoken of his profit Salvation is always referred to in the Bible as the gift of God.
It’s always referred to as God’s gift. A gift has been purchased by someone else given to you free. That’s exactly what salvation is. But rewards are earned and James is saying, what profit are you going to have? If you don’t have any works and the answer is you’ll not have any profit in heaven. You’ll have no rewards in heaven, you’ll have no gain in heaven. That comes as a result of your labor. So, as believers, we need to start laboring.
I remember being told this as a brand new believer and I said, Whoa, I need to get on the ball. For God. You ever hear that story about the guy who is golfing and he swings the club at the ball and he misses and there’s an ant pile there and he kills 3,000 ants. He takes another swing, he kills another several thousand ants. Finally there’s only two ants left and the one ant said to the other ant, I think we better get on the ball.
I hope you understood that. Well, as believers, we need to get on the ball. We need to get moving for God, because there is a day when James is telling us and warning us about that we’re going to give an account for what we’ve done since we’ve been saved. I’m saved. I trusted the Lord when I was 18. I received eternal life at that moment. It’s not a thing you get after you die. It is something you receive at the moment you believe.
Whosoever believeth in Christ should not perish but have everlasting life. So you have it, you possess it. It’s present tense. From the moment you believe in forever thereafter, can never be lost. Christ will never kick you out or lose you. You’re saved eternally once you trust Jesus as your Savior. Isn’t that great? It’s wonderfulness. Once I understood that, I could focus then on serving Christ. And I’m not worried about whether I’m saved or not because that’s already something that Christ accomplished for me at the cross.
The story is told when they built the Golden Gate Bridge out there in California that there was a lot of loss of life and they found it difficult to get anybody to want to work on that project because the dangers were great, they could fall and be killed and so nobody wanted to work. They decided to build a huge safety net and secure the workers with safety harnesses. And you know immediately the work picked up people began to be hired on and they were able to complete the project and build the bridge.
Why? Because they were no longer fearful about the fate of falling. They knew they would be safe. They’d be caught by the safety net and held safely by the safety harnesses. And so they could concentrate on building the bridge and not worry about what would happen if they fell. As a believer, we can have that same confidence that allows us to be able to work effectively for Christ because we’re not worried about our salvation which Christ has already purchased, but we’re able to worry about just getting our life in order so that we can be an effective worker for Christ now that we are saved.
I’m Dr. England from Mrs. Bibleline. We’ve got a lot of callers waiting. We’re going to go right to the phone lines and try to get some of these all-fear questions today. And I hope that you will call us at 1-800-576-3771. We have Doris in Bradenton, Florida. Doris, welcome to Bibleline, you’re on the air. Oh, okay. Thank you. And I’d like to know if there’s any scriptures that talk about piercing of the body, again, piercing of the body. this is it’s uh…
leviticus nineteen twenty eight it for bids it says do not make any prints on your body don’t you know there’s no graffiti as i call it which is tattoos and or make any cuttings in your body so uh… that is forbidden by the bible Leviticus 1928. Absolutely sure would. You know this body is for the believer especially. We’re his temple. It says in 1 Corinthians 3 16. Don’t you know your body is the God and that the Holy Spirit will be in you?
Well obviously that doesn’t want us to defile this body and to mark it up. That’s like if someone’s in the Bible put graffiti on your house you’d be outraged and you’d have to repaint it. Well, God says, your body is my house and I’m dwelling in yourbably, and I don’t want I don’t want you to put marks all over it and define it. So it’s obviously something that God has established. I didn’t write that rule, but God wrote it several thousands of years ago, absolutely.
Well, I agree. I have to pick up with you that. I’m not in favor of piercing or tattooing. But I just wanted to know. The only thing is when you would tell someone it’s in the vidicist, they’d say, well, Well, yeah, because many of the things we do I do but we’re not under the law to be obligated By some kind of death penalty if we don’t but certainly the dietary laws You’d be smart to follow them even though you can eat anything today You need to be careful about eating the things that are on the forbidden list Because they can you know, they’re I think about 12 people last year that died in Florida from eating raw oysters That’s on the forbidden list and that’s the reason why you can die so I’ve eaten raw oysters before and I love it that way, but
I don’t do it anymore because I realize that that could be deadly. Oh, yeah, that’s what they say. Okay, thank you very much. Alright, you’re very welcome. And so absolutely we need to follow God’s rules. And as I said, the New Testament tells us that we’re not to defile the body that is now God’s temple as a believer. But God is our Creator. He doesn’t want us to mark our bodies up. James in Lakeland, Florida and James welcome to Bibleline you are on the air.
Yes, Dr. Hank. Yes. I fully agree with what you say about, you know, it’s not in God’s will that everyone be healed. And I just want to get a clarification on the first reason they believe that it is God’s will for everyone to be healed. Sir John versus one and two, if you could You could explain that to me. They use that scripture as an explanation of why they believe that God is God’s will for everyone to be healed.
And I’ll be able to hear you better if I hang up and listen to your answers. But my understanding of that is that person. Is his name Gaius? Yeah, he’s talking to his beloved Gaius in verse 1. Who am I loving the truth? But it says he’s beloved. Verse 2, I wish above all things that you may prosper and be in health even as they soul prosper. So here was his prayer for his friend to be in good health and to prosper.
I think that means spiritually. It doesn’t mean the financial wealth of these health wealth and prosperity preachers are preaching. But certainly if you take in the New Testament scriptures and read the different passages about healing. It’s not always God’s will to be healed. Paul was made ill on purpose in 2 Corinthians 12 in order to keep him humble after he had been caught up in the heaven itself. And Paul prayed three times for healing and God said no, no, no, three times.
And then Paul said that he was willing to accept that and he said therefore now I rather rejoice in infirmities and distresses and persecutions and so on. Because when he says, I am weak, then I am strong in the Lord. You know, as we become dependent upon the Lord, we become spiritually stronger. Sometimes when we get ill, you know, one lady was telling me, she said, I wish I had more time to read my Bible. Boom, she got sick, was in the hospital two weeks.
She said, you know, my prayer was answered. I have plenty of time to read my Bible. And she said, I think the Lord did that. And she said, reflecting back upon it, I am glad because it brought me back to the Lord. The fact that I had that experience and the fact that I had the time now to read the Scriptures, careful what you pray for. He might get it and I believe that’s what it’s talking about. Certainly it’s not saying that everybody should be healed and the Bible doesn’t teach that we’re all going to die.
This body is going to get old and like it was sad news to hear yesterday that Dr. James D. Kennedy passed away and somebody asked why he died. The answer is he got old. He was 76. He had a heart attack and he didn’t survive that and he died and He said that he didn’t want anybody to weep for him. He wanted his funeral service to conclude with the Hallelujah course. I concur. I think that’s neat. Hallelujah. He said heaven and he wanted everybody to know that.
That’s great. I’m looking forward to seeing him in heaven one day. I’ve met him before here on this earth. That will be a great day to see him in heaven. Hope that helps a little bit. Yes, sir. Sir, Dr. Hank, I have been for the last three, four weeks teaching a Sunday school lesson on your track. Am I going to heaven? Wonderful. Wonderful. and I run out of tracks so I’m probably scared of you, but… Well, that’ll be great and I look forward to seeing you.
Okay, sir. Great. Thank you. We have come up on the halfway mark here in our program and we’re going to go to break. If you haven’t trusted the Lord, just tell the Lord, Lord, I’m a sinner. I don’t understand much, but I trust that Jesus died and shed his blood to purchase my salvation. I trust him right now to save me, to forgive me of my sins, to give me the gift of eternal life. He will, he does, and then choose to make that second decision to serve him.
That’s where rewards come in and that’s so important to serve the Lord to be in God’s blessings as a believer here. We’re going to take a break. We’ll come back into a second and a half hours so don’t go away. Keep that radio tuned right where it is and we’ll be back in just a moment. So hold on tight. We’ll be right back. Go away. Bibleline will be back in a moment. Give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771.
Well, I’m Dr. Englund. It’s 1-800-576-3771. Well, I’m Dr. Englund. This is from Ines Creek to me with you today. Thanks for tuning into the broadcast. We enjoy bringing these programs to you. I hope as much as you enjoy receiving them and listening to them. We really love you, our audience, and thank God for the fact that we have this opportunity to talk to you and to people really around the world. the internet we have 150 countries that are logged in all over the Middle East, all over Europe, all over Africa, all over South America, Central America, all over the US and in Canada.
Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, the islands of the Pacific, it’s amazing that Bible is reaching out all over the world. And thanks to you, all of you who pray for and give the Bible and make that possible. As believers, it tells us that we are to honor the Lord with our substance with the first fruits of our increased Proverbs chapter 3 verse 9. And so as we give to the Lord’s work to see that the Word of God goes out, you are going to find that God is going to be honored by your gifts.
It brings honor to him. God is the one that gets the credit because really this is a miracle program. Bibleline is really a miracle. We don’t have the finances to do what we do. We trust God and miraculously he supplies through the faithful giving of his people. We just marvel at it and thank the Lord for his goodness and his faithfulness as we believe he is raised up by a blind for such a time as this, to reach people just like you.
Not only with the gospel if you are not saved, but with the truth of God’s Word to help you move forward in your Christian life and become an effective tool for God. And I hope that by a blind is impacting your life in that way. If you would like to help us, it would be greatly appreciated. You can do that by calling in and giving a gift by credit card over the phone. You can call in and ask for an envelope to be sent with the address on it.
We hope that you’ll take advantage and do that and be an investor in eternity by helping the gospel go forth out of the airwaves and over the internet through Bible and as we attempt to We’re going to read it for ourselves and with the Holy Spirit’s help. Understand what this wonderful book is saying. We’re going to rejoin the stations we’ve been on break and do that second half hour Bibleline. So keep your dial tuned right where it is. I’m Dr.
Hank Lindstrom. This is Bibleline. We’re coming to you live out of Tampa. And here we go now Now with the second half of Bible and please stay tuned. Question? You can. Just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Now here again is Dr. Hank Lindstrom. Alright, we’re back from that break and this is Bibleline. I’m Dr. Hank Lindstrom. We’re coming to you live from Tampa, Florida. We’re in our studios right here at the Calvary Community Church. We’re on the past…
and we hope that you’re going to have a wonderful weekend. Hopefully you attend church someplace. Look for a good Bible-believing teaching church. The number one reason you use to choose the church is for its doctrine. Hopefully you find one that is doctrinally sound. We have a sheet here called Beliefs that Matter. About 25 basic doctrines that a good-sound church ought to embrace. And you want to ask your church for a doctrinal statement and compare and see if they are in line with the scriptures Because the Bible tells us that in the last days Churches would not endure sound doctrine They would want to have their ears tickled and be entertained and they would turn away their ears from the truth and we turn Under fables second Timothy four three and four Wow Wow, we certainly are and we hear it all the time as people tell us they are looking
for a church that teaches the Bible and they can’t seem to find one. Don’t forget this Sunday morning we’re going to do a special Rapture Interactive webcast on the internet. Go to my website BibleLineMinistries.org at 9 o’clock and you will see me presenting a teaching on the Rapture and then we’re going to take live questions from you on the internet that are watching and you’ll get to see me answer them and watch me answer them as we answer them live right here between nine and ten o’clock on Sunday morning.
Anywhere in the world you can catch that special interactive teaching on the Rapture that will be this Sunday morning. We chose to do it this Sunday because September 12th, this Sunday is the 9th. On the 12th, that is the potential day for the Rapture. Whatever your price comes back, it could be that we only have a couple of days left. Wouldn’t that be something? Wouldn’t that be something? Wow. Well anyway, we wanted to take advantage of that. And if the Lord doesn’t tell them the 12th, then we’ll be doing more of these interactive teachings on the internet.
But we hope you’ll take advantage and join us from 9 to 10. will repeat it for a second hour replay it and then 11 you can catch our morning worship service right there on the internet Bibleline Ministries that o-r-g-or.com we’re gonna go now to Mark and Mark is in Jacksonville Florida and Mark welcome by one you’re on here hey how are you I have just on the other gentleman on the radio is not script God God heals his not God’s will at ancient pairs, the Bible says that the religion these days, Paul’s sworn if you read that scripture, speaks about the demon, a demon with sense of love at his flesh.
And that was persecution. If you’re going to be a Christian in this world, you will be persecuted. God is not going to deliver us from persecution. He’ll heal any sickness, any disease. The Bible says these signs will follow those who believe. In my name, Jesus said, these signs will follow, and number one, if they pray whatever they, excuse me, I love the train of thought. These signs will follow those who believe. In my name, they’ll lay hands on the sick, they shall recover, not they might recover, they shall recover.
They’ll cast out devils, demon, and there’s a numerous other things that will happen. So believers, these signs will follow them. Unbelievers, they won’t get their healing. Jesus said it was not because of their lack of faith that they were not healed. When he spoke of people that didn’t get healed in the Bible, he said it was because of their unbelief. And that’s the whole other thing. He said when he was speaking about the demand that brought his son to the disciples.
The man said, hey, I bought my son your disciples and they couldn’t heal my son. What did Jesus say? Oh, he had little faith. But then he said that this type of unbelief only goes out through prayer and fasting. Not this type of demon because there’s no sickness, no disease, no nothing on this earth. The name Jesus was not sure. I thoroughly disagree with you. You know, because if this were possible, then why do we have hospitals? We could just go right there.
there and heal them all and empty them out. But I have blind folks in my church, for example, and they’ve been blind from birth and they have been to all kinds of healing meetings in this net and the other and exhausted a lot of resources and money. And they’re still blind. And if I knew of somebody, maybe if you think you could do it, I’ll be glad to have you come give sight to my blind folks in my church but I’m afraid they can’t.
The healings today that are talked about aren’t the kinds of healings that they had in the Bible. They raised the dead. I haven’t seen anybody today raised the dead. I haven’t seen them replace missing flesh. I don’t see them going on the stage with one leg and coming off of two. I don’t see the big miracles, the very visible ones where people like in John 5, the man was impotent for thirty-eight years and never walked and all of a sudden instantly he could walk and leap and carry his bed and he was obviously healed and they couldn’t deny that.
Also the blind man in chapter nine where Christ did the very worst thing he’d do for somebody’s eyes and that is he put mud and spit together and rubbed it in his eyes and then told him to go wash and then he would see. And obviously, all those that saw the miracle said that nobody, since there’s been man upon this earth, ever did a miracle like that, and there hasn’t been. Only Christ has done that. I certainly don’t doubt Christ’s ability to heal, but certainly if it were true, then everybody would be healed, and nobody can say that that’s really happening today.
I used to chase around all these healing meetings, and I never saw anybody healed. In fact, I see people getting hurt. I have a lady from my church here that against her son’s advice went to see Benny Hinn last year. She was slain in the spirit, came back against the pew as she fell, and she broke her arm between her shoulder and her elbow. She was screaming bloody murder, and they told her to shut up, and they dragged her out of the meeting because she was disturbing him.
Well, I would have dragged her forward and said, Benny Hinn, you broke her arm, you need to heal it. They don’t tell you about all the people they hurt, all the people they injure by these meetings which don’t heal anybody. I don’t believe anybody is getting healed today in these meetings. I believe this is a counterfeit. And I believe Paul did have an illness and a lot of his friends did. He told Timothy to drink a little wine for his stomach infirmities.
Why do you need to heal Timothy if what you’re saying is true? What about his other friends, Ephraiditis? I am the death because of his loveable Lord, and he just was burning the candle at both ends. Why didn’t he just heal Ephraiditis? He didn’t. It’s not always God’s will for a person to be healed. And people like James D. Kennedy, why wasn’t he healed? His congregation of 10,000 were praying for him. People around the world who loved him were praying for him.
And he never ever recovered from that heart attack and finally slipped into eternity. Why didn’t somebody come by and heal him? It just isn’t happening today. So I thoroughly disagree with your comment there. But thank you for calling and I hope you keep listening up there in Jacksonville, Florida. We now have LaVita in Lake Worth, Florida. LaVita, welcome to Bibleline you are on the air. Thank you, Dr. Hank, for taking my call. It’s a pleasure talking with you again.
I have two questions actually. The first one, is it true that the Muslim lineage goes back to Ishmael? That is correct. And so is that the reason for the problem in the Middle East? I think it is. Hellensy wrote a great book. We have it here and we promote it. It’s called Everlasting Hatred. That title comes right out of the Bible and he traces very carefully what a well written book, the division and the hatred that exists between the descendants of Israel and the descendants of Isaac from early pages of Genesis.
And yes, that is the truth. And it’s an everlasting hatred according to the Bible and Hellens, you took that title right out of the Bible. And that’s what’s going on right now. This is the Arabs and the Jews are cousins but they’re certainly not kissing cousins. They obviously hate each other. Okay, so that is true. And it comes out of the first part of Genesis, she said? Well, yeah, you have in chapter 16, you have this sort of issue being cast out after he was born and then Isaac came along.
There was a jealousy between the wives and the two boys. And obviously God told them that you can’t live together. You need to separate. and he sent Hagar out with her son and has really beautifully described there the nature of the Muslim people. So they would be kind of like a wild ass is the description in the Bible that they would just basically be uncontrollable. And that’s what’s happened with that religious system. Okay, so the name of that book was everlasting hatred.
Yep. We have it and you can get it your Christian book store by how Lindsay is a wonderful book Okay, well, we’ll look that up and second question is Is there anything in the Bible that? places Mary’s lineage especially in the New Testament to David Absolutely Luke chapter three the lineage the lineage chapter three that lineage is of Christ on Mary’s side and it takes you all the way back to David and all the way back to Adam actually and so it’s the the lineage of Mary there on Matthew chapter one you have the lineage of Jesus from Joseph and so Joseph was related to King David through Solomon and Mary was related to King David through his other son Nathan and you’ll see that’s how they split split.
When you look through the names there in Luke 3, you’ll see that it talks about David having son Nathan and Nathan begets also and brings you down to Mary. But in Matthew, it brings you through Solomon after David down to Joseph. So they’re both related to back to King David. Right. I heard somebody say that they only trace the lineage on Joseph’s side. And since Joseph was not the biological father. They really couldn’t trace the lineage of Jesus because really being a virgin and the lineage being traced from Mary, someone said to me that that could not be traced.
And I said, well, I think you’re wrong. So I thought, well, I’m going to call it Pastor Hank. Very good. Well, they are wrong because it is clear in Luke 3. Luke 3. Yep. Okay. Well thank you for calling. Well we have, wait a minute, my husband just looked it up and it says Joseph. Well if you, let me just turn there in my Bible and we’ll go through this because it definitely is in Luke’s Gospel the genealogy of Mary.
If you notice in verse 31 and this one operates differently than the one in Matthew, it kind goes backwards. So if you read the last word in verse 31 that has David and then as you back up it says here that his son was Nathan and you work your way all the way up to this fellow that is apparently the, when it says here for example, Scofil says, in Matthew we have unquestionably the genealogy of Joseph. We are told that in 1 16 of Matthew that Joseph was the son of Jacob.
In what sense then could he be called in Luke the son of Heilai? Well, he could not be by natural generation instead of both Jacob and Heilai, but in Luke it is not said that Heilai began Joseph. So the natural explanation is that Joseph was the son-in-law of Heilai who was himself of the son of David. And so it goes on in the scofia, not here as excellent, but it’s really showing us here that we have Mary’s side of the genealogy and it puts big time here at David where the son Nathan has mentioned and those that are descended from him whereas in Matthew it’s Solomon and those that are descended from Solomon and Joseph’s genealogy.
Okay, I guess I’m not following how this is the thing of Mary. Well take your time with it. You have to look at verse in Luke 3. Look at verse 31 and that verse in particular shows that Nathan is the one which is not the the same as the geology in chapter one of Matthew where Solomon is the son of David. So you have two sons of David. And the genealogy in Luke is from Nathan and the genealogy of his from Solomon.
That’s the big split. And so Mary is the descendant of Nathan and Joseph is the descendant of Solomon. And there were- Oh, okay. So how do I know though that Mary was a descendant of Nathan? Because this is her genealogy and do you have the skill field Bible? Do I have a web Bible? The Schofield reference Bible. That’s the one I use and I recommend. Yes I do. Yes I do. Okay. Then read the footnote there and Luke 3 and he goes on through there.
The conclusion he says here after this long dissertation, Schofield says the conclusion is therefore inevitable that in Luke’s genealogy, we have Mary’s genealogy and Joseph was the son of Heli because he was a spouse to Heli’s daughter. And genealogy in Luke is Mary’s, who’s Father Hely was the Senator for David. Okay. And you read that note and it’ll come clear. Okay, I’ll read both of those. All right. Okay, thank you very much Dr. Hank. You’re very welcome and thank you for telling.
And that was Matthew 1. Matthew 1 and then Luke chapter 3. Okay, thank you very much. You’re welcome. Okay, thank you for that call and that was an interesting question. We have Tom in Savannah, Georgia. Tom in Savannah, Georgia. Welcome to Bible One. a yes uh… hope you’re not going to hang up on the like you did that mark from uh… uh… yeah uh… a lot of people are just to be part of the day about black for me and i read that look it up uh…
and it talks about anyone jesus said uh… he was playing hand that it says that jesus was healing the sick laying hands on the thick that’s not devil and religious fairies were standing around watching him that he does he seems by the by the elves above by the devil and jesus that he stopped what he was doing he said he said you know blasami of god is for divable blasphemy of of me is for divable but blasphemy of the holy spirit speaking wrong about the works that jesus does or or born-again believers do is blacksmith and so many people don’t realize that but uh…
actually my name is mark from jack bill new hung up on me if you met go and you don’t know how to do that without much well i let me go ahead and explain that now what we’re talking about here In Mark 3, if you go to that passage and what you’re bringing up there, the blasphemy there is to say that Jesus was not the Messiah. That he healed, but he did it by Satan’s power when he actually did it by the power of the Holy Spirit.
So the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is to say that Jesus did not heal by the Holy Spirit, which is to attribute the healings that Christ did to Satan and not to Jesus Christ. And the answer is in verse 30. It says, because they said, because they said, he hath an unclean spirit. In other words, they were saying that Christ was indwalt by Satan and healing by Satan’s power. He was an imposter, a fraud, a counterfeit, not a savior.
So the blasphemy is not to say a bad word about the Holy Spirit or to deny what people are doing in the name of the Holy Spirit today, but it is to attribute that what Christ did was to Satan not to the Holy Spirit and therefore it is rejection of Christ. It is unbelief. It is the unpartable sin that means you die without Christ because you don’t acknowledge that he is indeed the Savior, the Son of God and he is the only way to be saved.
But there is no healing being done today. You’re wrong. You’re wrong. Okay. Well, come on down here and heal the blind folks in my church. I’ve got some people that really need your healing and I believe that you are totally wrong. Well, obviously he changes names and cities by the minute here. We’re not going to go to Floyd in Tampa, Florida. Floyd, welcome to ByBlind. You’re on the air. Hello. Hello, Floyd. Yes. You’re on the air. I can’t hear you.
Well, listen up. We’re on the phone now. Don’t listen to the radio. You’ll never hear me. It’s 20 seconds behind. So if you’re listening to the radio, you’ll have to wait 20 seconds to hear what I just said. Am I? You’re on the air, but if you’re listening to your radio, you’re gonna be forever trying to catch up. I can’t understand what you’re saying. It sounds like it’s muddled up or something. Then you hear the flame. I hear you playing his day.
Well, I can’t understand you. Well, we better start all over again. Try to call back and we’ll try to reestablish that. We have Malcolm in pace for the Malcolm. Welcome to my life. Yes, sir. There you go. That one fellow who called to claim it was about two or three callers ago. I just want to make a comment that he is quoting from Mark chapter 16, and these signs shall follow. And you know nobody is doing these things. It talks there about being bitten by a deadly snake and not being hurt, the drink, the deadly and not dying and they pick and choose and they want to pick healing and they want to pick tongues but they don’t pick the others and we find that these are gifts that were temporary in nature and have ceased.
So, these were all temporary, and they’re all gone right now. But all five of those that are mentioned in Mark 16 were operable at the time that Christ sent her for the disciples after the resurrection. Well, I agree with you. And here’s the point I wanted to make. Verse Corinthians 1, verse 22, The Apostle Paul writes, for the Jews require a sign and the Greeks seek after wisdom. The tongues, healing, and working miracles were signs performed by the Jewish apostles.
But after the church was established, the signs were taken away because the Apostle Paul writes, I forget the man’s name, he says, and so and so have I left in that city sick. The Apostle Paul lost the gift of healing just shortly before his death because the church had been established, the Jewish Apostles were believing the same and the signs were going. The tongues shall cease because Gentiles, us 21st Gentile believers, we should not be looking for signs because they were for the Jews.
That’s just the point I wanted to make out. And Tammy Fade, who used to be married to Jim Baker, she passed away from colon cancer recently. A lot of these charismatic, when someone wants healing and they don’t get healed, they’re told, well, you didn’t get healed because you didn’t have enough faith. What about Tammy Fade? And the host of AA Alan Dine of sources of the liver from his alcoholism, we know that some of the major healers themselves who healed supposedly are dead because they couldn’t heal themselves.
So it’s, you’re absolutely right. I know some cases where people have been miraculously healed, but God is no longer an obligation to do so like he was in the first century. He can’t heal when he chewed us to, but too often he chooses not to. Amen. Thank you so much. We appreciate that call Malcolm in Tays, Florida up in the penhandle of Florida. We have Monica in Deltona Florida. Monica, welcome to Bibleline. Good morning, Dr. Lindstrom. How are you today?
Fine, thank you. How about you? I’m great, Dr. Lindstrom. Yesterday, you mentioned about everybody’s name being written in the Book of Life. Could you elaborate on that? Because I don’t think I fully understood what you said. Basically, Christ died for everyone. For God’s to love the world. That means every human being that would ever be born. And he died for all of them and he put everybody’s name in the book. Potentially, everyone, therefore, can be saved. And the way the Bible lays it out is if you become a believer, Revelation 3.5, at the moment you believe God makes a promise, he will not bought out your name out of the book of life.
But if you die as an unbeliever, your name will be stricken from the book at the point of death. So every believer has his name already there. It’s going to stay there if you become a believer, but if you’re an unbeliever you’ll die and have your name stricken. So when you eventually stand before the judgment of God and they search the book, your name will not be there if you die as an unbeliever because your name is stricken at death.
But otherwise everybody’s name is written down in the book from the beginning. That’s why children go to heaven when they die. If they’re under the age of accountability and they die, their names remain in the book. But if they don’t, then they will obviously not enter heaven. Okay, Dr. Lindstrom. So there is an actual book. I mean, why does God need a book? Well, you know, I don’t know how that book looks like or in what way it’s kept or formed.
But it says in 1 John, in Revelation chapter 20 verse 15, that’s the second Hoosover verse of the Bible, Hoosover’s name was not found written in the book of life. She’ll be cast into the lake of fire. So if you’re not found in the book, you’re going to go to hell. But every believer’s name is there and permanently there because he’ll not want your name out. And we find that God told Moses back in Exodus 32, 32, that he would only bought out the names of those that committed the unpardonable sin that a rejection of Christ.
So if you die without Christ then your name gets blotted out but otherwise believers their names can never come out. Okay, Dr. Lindstrom, thank you so much. Our friends in Nashville play us a second time from 1 to 2 in the morning every night there in Nashville, Tennessee. excited about what God is doing and how our radio shows are spreading out all over the place and people are enjoying my blind, but all of that is possible because of the gifts of our listeners who support us.
Your really gift is a vital link between this program being on the air and not being on the air because you’re the portion that we don’t have and that is we could not possibly stand out and be on the stations that run without your financial help. for all those that are listening that are not in agreement. We believe that many folks are deceived today and are in soft and out and just don’t recognize that unless they trust Jesus, his shed blood alone, that he was crucified and buried and risen again from the dead as the only means of their salvation that they’ll not be saved.
And my heart goes out to him and I pray for them. I was raised in a church like that where you could lose your salvation. We were taught basically that ultimately we had to work our way in. We had to be thankful to death. Well, that’s not true. I got to run. Keep looking up. Jesus is coming. We’ll be back Monday live. Watch our interactive webcast on Sunday at nine o’clock. That’ll be fun. If not in our tribe, it will be there next week.
