We’re going to turn to the book of Acts to chapter 2, verse 38. This verse is caused a lot of confusion for many. Peter says on the day of Pentecost, repent and be baptized every one of you. It’s interesting that because terms are not defined, we get ourselves in trouble. The word repent comes from the Greek word meta noya. Make a note of it. Meta, M-E-T-A means change, and noia, n-o-i-a, means mind. The two words together metanoia mean a change of mind, and repentance does not mean turn from sin or sorrow for sin as so many people are taught.
Most people will define repent as turning from sin or sorrow from sin because they have heard so many preachers say that. But the Bible doesn’t say that. The Greek word, remember the New Testament written in the Greek language, means a change of mind. Here in Acts chapter 2, the change of mind that Peter is asking these people that he’s addressing, the very leaders of Israel that had crucified Christ. He’s saying Christ is indeed the Messiah. You crucified him because you considered him a blasphemer and imposter a fraud, a counterfeit.
And so you wanted to see him killed. But Guess what? He’s back. He’s back from the dead. He’s alive. Obviously you were wrong. You need to change your mind and trust Jesus as your Savior. And you know 3,000 did change your mind and got saved on the day of Pentecost? But that’s really what it means. If you hold to the definition that repent means to turn from your sin, you need to re-look at everything. Did you know in the Old Testament, When the word repent occurs and it occurs 43 times, 37 of the 43 times it is God who repents.
That’s right. God repents. According to the Old Testament, 37 out of the 43 times, that’s 86% of the time when the word repent is used as God who repents. Now if you have the definition that repent means to turn from sin, you’ve got a serious theological problem. You’ve got a holy sinless, righteous God who’s not capable of sending, turning from his sin throughout the Old Testament. This is craziness. People don’t do their homework. And obviously, this is a serious error.
And it’s unfortunate that this has happened. And the problem really came about because in 1611, the English word repent did not mean the same thing as the Greek word metanoia and it was just a bad translation. They really should have taken the Greek word and just bought it into the English language. They’ve done that with other words. For example, it’s called a transliteration. They took the word Babtizo, which is baptize, and they bought it into the English language and they dropped the O and put an E on it and made it an English word and we say babbacchai but it’s really a transliteration of the Greek word pabtizo.
They should have done that with metinoeo. Can you imagine preachers hollering at their congregations, metinoeo metinoeo metinoeo. Well at least we would look it up and get the right definition because that word that’s Translate repent methanal means a change of mind Metanoia it is the change of mind that occurs when you trust Christ as your Savior And that’s what Peter is saying here if you just were to read this literally and Translate correctly Peter would be saying to his audience Change your mind change your mind They have been convicted by his message There was no doubt that Christ had risen from the dead and we find here when they heard this verse 37 of Acts 2 They were pricked in their heart and said unto Peter to the rest of the apostles men and brethren What shall we do Peter said repent the Greek word of course is change your mind metanoia?
It’s amazing how we have been taught wrong one of the newer translations the end the the new living translation. Unfortunately, then, O connectedly. That’s really a terrible, terrible translation. But the new living, every time the word repent occurs, I checked it out in my copy of that. They just took a word processor apparently and put in, turn from your sins, turn from your sins, turn from your sins, every place where the word repent would occur in your regular Bible.
That’s terrible. That’s just absolutely wrong. Nobody did their homework. Nobody looked up the Greek word and defined it. The Greek word metanoia means a change of mind. And Peter is really saying change your mind. The new living translation should have put in You Change your mind. Change your mind every time the word repent occurred. But they put turn from your sins turn from your sins. That’s absolutely a wrong meaning. Absolutely terrible. That’s why it’s important to have a good Bible because some of the new translations might read easy, but a lot of hanged they mislead us as to doctrine.
Bennett says here and be baptized. And here we have another problem because most people think in their minds when they see the word baptized, they think water, water, water, water, water. Let me just expand your thinking a little bit. There are 10. 10. That’s right, 10. T-E-N baptisms taught in the New Testament. Most of them are dry. Most of them do not involve a liquid. And most of them are not water. So obviously you have to ask yourself, what baptism are we talking about here?
Is this water baptism? And the answer is no. N-O. This is not water baptism. If you read the verse carefully, it says, repent or change your mind. And he baptize, which the Greek word means to wash or to cleanse. So he washed or cleansed. And then it says here in the name, in the name, in the name of Jesus Christ. So this is a baptism in the name. What does that mean? It is not water. But it is a baptism, a cleansing that occurs in the authority that Christ gave with His name.
He is God who came and took on human flesh. Maybe this will help you see it. If I were to have a check in my hand drawn on the bank of heaven, made out to whosoever believe it, in the amount of eternal life and sign at the bottom Jesus Christ. Well, you could take that and cash in on eternal life by placing your name in there as one that would believe or trust Jesus Christ as your Savior. You know, if you have a check, it might be made out to you.
It might be made out for a million dollars. But if no one signs the bottom of the check, the bank is not going to give you one dime, not one penny because no one is authorized the withdrawal. Well Jesus signs his name at the bottom of the check and he authorizes anyone that would believe on him or trust on him to withdraw from the Bank of Heaven the gift of eternal life. Isn’t that great? So Christ here gives authorization for you and me to receive the gift of eternal life and And there is a cleansing of washing of our sin that occurs in the name or the authority that Christ gave.
It is a wonderful truth. Peter is literally saying here, change your mind and be washed or cleansed of your sin. In the name or the authority that Jesus Christ has given, he is God who took on flesh and he died. Pave your sins by his death and shed. Blood was buried and rose again from the dead when you trust him. God saves you. Isn’t that great news? And some of you might say, boy, you are really stretching the point here.
You are really reaching way out there. No, I’m not. Let me give you another example. If you turn to 1 Corinthians 6, 1 Corinthians 6, you’ll notice verse 9 and 10 list a whole lot of sins, any of which could keep you out of heaven. Thieves, covetous, drunkards, revilers, it says here, it shall not inherit the kingdom of God. Verse 11, 1 Corinthians 6, 11. This is good. This is really good. It says here, and such were some of you, and such were some of you, but you are washed.
Catch that. You’re washed. And it says here in the name of the Lord Jesus. You’re washed in the name of the Lord Jesus. So this is not something strange or odd that I would say that Acts 2.38 is a baptism or cleansing or washing in the the name, the Bible uses it elsewhere. First Corinthians 611 says, and such were some of you. You were condemned. You were headed for help. You were condemned by the law of God. But you are washed in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the spirit of our God.
First Corinthians 611, you ought to write it down, maybe put it in the margin there of Acts 2, 38, because Peter is literally saying, if you interpret the verse correctly, repent metanoia means a change of mind, change your mind and be cleansed or washed, the word baptized, and then it says not in water, but it says in the name, in the name of the Lord Jesus. When you do that the Bible says you’ll have your sins remitted and you’ll receive the gift of the Holy Spirit you become saved.
Isn’t that great news? So X238 is not a He said that God loves sinners. He hates our sin, but he loves sinners. And he said, He said, you have to turn from your sin, clean up your life, stop sinning. A lady this past week called in and said that she was told in her church that if she didn’t stop smoking, she would go to hell. Well, obviously that’s a lie. That’s not true. And the Bible tells us that God loves sinners.
He hates our sin, but he loves sinners and he… He receives us as sinners. In other words, He receives us just as we are. I love that hymn. Just as I am, I come. Just as I am, I come without one plea, but that thy blood was shed for me. What a great hymn! The hymn writer had a handle on this whole doctrine of salvation, and the hymn writer says, just as I am, I come without one plea, but that thy blood was shed for me.
Isn’t that great? There’s only one way to come you come not saying Lord. I got baptized. I cleaned up my life. I stopped sitting I’m wonderful now Now I’m ready. No. No, no, no Jesus says come unto me all you that labor are heavy laden I’ll give you rest the hymn writer wrote just as I am I come Without one plea, but that thy blood was shed for me Are you saved my friend if you trusted Christ as your Savior?
I hope you have There’s only one way to be saved, that’s Jesus. Only one thing you must do to be saved is to trust Jesus in His death and shed blood as the means of your salvation. And the moment you do, you become saved eternally. I’m Dr. Inchlinz, we’re going to go to the phone lines. We invite you to call in at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Our first caller is Robert in Bradenton, Florida, and Robert, welcome to Bible End. Robert, turn your radio down, Robert.
You’re on the air right now. One morning, Pastor Hank. Good morning. I got a question, but first of all, I thank all the pastor that called me and I thank the brothers Sandy and Tony. And I found a good church now, and I’m pretty happy with it. And I think you guys for that. As soon as that, and 58 I think talks about it, and about when they told Jesus that young disciple fast and why his disciples did not fast, I can listen to you.
Well, fasting, there seems to be a lot of mystery about that thing of fasting, but fasting is very simple. You just don’t eat for a period of time, and everybody does it. You know, when you go to sleep at night, you wake up in the morning, the first meal, we call it what? Break fast or breakfast. It really means you break the fast that you have fasted all night long while you were sleeping. Unless you keep a bag of crackers in your bed and you nibble all night long, you break the fast with that first meal in the morning.
And although I don’t consciously talk about it, or say it, I fast all the time, Whenever you eat, it seems like your body goes to work to digest that food and your brain is robbed of the blood and you become a little sleepy, you become a little bit dull. What happens on Thanksgiving when everybody picks out and eats too much? They all wind up just laying around and become almost absolutely fall asleep. I’ve seen many family gatherings where people just kind of find a couch or cheer and lean back and they actually fall asleep.
Well, that’s what happens. So for example, when I preach or I do radio, whatever, I try to eat several hours beforehand because if I ate just before I spoke, I’d be a little bit dull. My mind would not be sharp. I learned it in college before I ever began to really serve the Lord. I realized that in taking a serious exam, I didn’t want to eat just before I took that exam because I knew my mind would not be sharpened and probably not do as well as I could on that exam if my mind were clear.
And so I would always eat early two or three hours before an exam and then I did much better on that exam had I eaten just before I walked into the classroom to take the exam. Well, the same thing is true and fascinating. Basically, your mind is clear. So you’re able to spend time with the Lord and as you read your Bible and you do it a little bit hungry, not with a full stomach. You don’t go to sleep.
You keep your focus and you’re able to pay attention. And that’s really what it’s all about. So there’s no mystery about fasting. It’s just a matter of your mind being clear when you fast. Then if you just go to the Lord and say, Lord, I want to know your will and you just had a big dinner. You’ll probably fall asleep and forget what you were even praying about. So Robert, I hope that helps. It’s no great mystery. It’s pretty simple.
We now have Harold in Hollywood Florida. Here’s my buddy Harold, and I hope I didn’t lose that call. It looks like, let’s see if I’ve got Harold here on the line. I hope I got a dolphin. Somehow we lost Harold. So we’re going to have to get Harold to call back. Wow. Hate to do that. I must have hit the wrong button. Sorry about that. Harold called me right back and we’ll get you up. We now have Cooley in Tampa, Florida.
Cooley, welcome to Bibleline. I hope I didn’t lose that call. Turn the radio down. we have kule in Tampa for you’re on the air yeah I’m pastor yes sir I had a question about when you first came on air you were stopping about when you’re so what some of you you know before doing those things yes when people call about can you lose your salvation before God and how we should present our body I think people are struggling with these things because they’re finding the things of the world of loose.
They’re struggling with their salvation because they find it hard to stop doing the things that they was doing. You know, it’s not that they don’t believe that they can lose their salvation. They’re just finding it so hard to turn the world away. Well, that’s true. And that’s because we have an old nature that we’ll live with until we die or are raptured out. And that old nature still desires to sin. But we also have a brand new birth when you are born again that desires the things of God and cannot sin.
So we have to struggle. We have to make choices every day to live for the Lord and be obedient and serve Him. And certainly in this chapter 1 Corinthians 6 it tells us that our bodies are His temple and that we ought to glorify God in our bodies. But we are washed, we are cleansed and we are saved forever and we cannot be lost. He’s warning us here that we are going to give an account one day as to what we have done since we’ve been saved and that will determine the degree of reward that we’ll receive in heaven and whether we receive blessings, enjoy and fulfilling life here in this world.
Okay, that’s not your question. So do you think a person, a people that are doing the things that he was talking about, that you cannot entertain them of heaven? If I’m in a reduction, if I’m in a reduction relationship, I’m a thief or a stealer or whatever I’m doing. And people say that you can’t, they think they’ll say, now do you think someone like that can go to heaven? Absolutely. When you need to look back in 1 Corinthians 5, here it gives you an example of exactly what you’re talking about.
It says in verse 1 of chapter 5 of 1 Corinthians, it says it’s reported commonly that there is his fornication among you, there is an adulterous type of relationship, and such fornication is not so much his name among the Gentiles that one should have his father’s wife. So here’s a man living in adultery with his mother or his stepmother, and notice what it says in verse 5, to deliver such a one unto Satan to kill him for the destruction of the flesh that the Spirit made me what?
Save. This man will be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus, but the Lord took him home to have an early and a loud Satan to take his life. And so if you’re a delinquent believer, sure, you’re still saved, but you might meet the Lord sooner than you’d planned on meeting him. The Lord will allow Satan to take your life and kill you, and you’ll go to heaven a little bit soon. So if you want to go to heaven soon, now if nothing happens and you’re probably not a believer, you’re probably trying to work your way to heaven and you’re not saved.
But if you’re genuinely saved, you’re not going to be able to get away with it. Hebrews chapter 12 or 6 says for whom the Lord loves, he chases or disciplines and scourges Every son whom he receives and verse 8 of Hebrews 12 says if you be without discipline from God as a believer It says you’re a bastard and not a son in other words. You’re claiming to be a son, but you’re really a bastard You’re not his son you’re illegitimately claiming to be a Christian because God says you’re not gonna be able to live as you Please in my family once you trust me a savior.
I’m gonna thank you So if you’re a believer you’re not gonna get away with it So these people that are claiming that and are doing these things He probably aren’t saved at all because God is not dealing with him. God says every son that’s received in his family is chastened and he says if you’re not chastened then you are a bastard and you’re not a son. Pretty strong word in the King James. Hebrews 12, 6 and verse 8 are pretty powerful.
Okay, so what you were saying is that there’s a notification there. They’re still anything but they still don’t inherit the kingdom of God. If they have trusted Christ or save forever and are stuck. David committed murder. David committed to the kingdom of God. Meltery, David’s in heaven, my friend. And so Moses committed murder. Read your Bible. God saves you eternally with disregard your work, so your behavior, but rewards and blessings have to do with your behavior. And you’ll be spanked if you don’t live for Christ.
And so don’t try to live as you please. We’re going to go to break now. Thank you for that call. It was a good one. And we hope you keep listening. We’re going to go to break. We’ll come back into a second half hour. So don’t go away. We’ll be right back. We’ll be back in a moment. Give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Alright, I’m Dr. Englund’s from Minnesota. It’s fun to be with you. We really enjoy bringing my blind to you every day.
Thank you for listening. Hope you’re telling your friends and tell them, you know, wherever they might live. They might live in Europe. They might live in Africa. Africa, they might live in Australia or Asia or wherever. South America, Central America, we hope that you are passing that word along to your friends wherever they might be. Because Bible I think can be a blessing to them as well. On the Internet, they can get us anywhere in the world 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Isn’t that exciting? And so we really are excited about Bible and reaching out and being on the air in your area and to stay on the air we have to pay the stations and the other expenses. We don’t pay any salaries here at Bible and so we really are very efficient but we’re reaching out and we’re not that big and we don’t have the resources. We’re totally dependent upon our listeners. If you would pray for us we would be so grateful and if you could give the Bible and we would be ever grateful as well because we really cannot stay on the air unless you the listeners help us out.
Would you consider doing that? Call us. You can give a gift by credit card over the phone. Call us. You can ask us to send you an envelope with our dress on it. Well mail it out. You can mail a gift back into Bibleline. Also you can give on our website in several places and you can do it on our online bookstore for sure. So we could use your help and we certainly would appreciate all of you who would give.
And you know, a lady just the other day said how many days were in August and I said, I forget 31 or 30 and she said, I think it’s 31 and she said, okay, I’m going to make you out of check and she made it out for $31. She says, I’d like to give a dollar a day to Bibleline, and she’s been faithfully doing that now for quite a long time. And how wonderful if everybody would give a dollar a day?
That would be great. If you can’t give that much, if you give 50 cents a day. But if everybody gave something, we would really probably have all of our needs met. If you can give greater, that would really be great. We sure would appreciate any gift to Bibleline, and certainly come at your prayers for Bibleline. What is it called? We can send you out a resource sheet, we can give you any information you need to know, and we can also take your gift by credit card over the phone, and you can order resources from Bible and it will also help us.
We’re ready to do the second half hour, so we’re going to rejoin the stations that have been on break, and we’re going to now do the second half hour. So keep your radio dial tuned right where it is for Bible and Part 2. You like to call Bibleline and ask Dr. Lindstrom a question? You can. Just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Now here again is Dr. Hank Lindstrom. Alright we’re back for a night break and this is Bible and it’s wonderful to be with you.
And happy new year to all of our Jewish friends. This is the Russia’s son of the peace of trumpets and potentially the rapture could happen at any moment if we… The Lord is coming soon and we don’t know the absolute schedule but we know he’s going to be on time. He won’t be a moment late. Thank you all of you who listen and we appreciate you and we’re meeting more and more new listeners all the time that are tuning in the Bibleline program.
We have a lady that is going to come all the way to Tampa to be baptized. Another family in New York that listened to the Bible and couldn’t come all the way down here to get baptized. They just said, we don’t have a church. We just don’t know where to go to have someone baptize us. We’re very flattered and we’ll be happy to do that. that. It’s sad though that there are not many good sound Bible churches out there in many areas and people are saying, I don’t know where to go.
They’re going to come all the way here. We’re just really flattered at what God is doing here and the fact that we have people that want to please the Lord and be baptized and serve and live for Christ now that they know the truth and they’re willing to come all the way to Tampa, Florida to accomplish that. We’re just absolutely humbled by that. We have a friend here, our Jewish atheist friend in Hollywood, Florida waiting on the line, so we’re gonna get Harold, a one-line here, Harold.
Happy new year to you. You know, you feed me to the punch, I was gonna say. How about this? On raja shanam calling my past and not my rabbi that’s amazing i tell you i’m i’m humbled by that well i have to speak faster that i have uh… i have an important question to ask you and it’s concerning jesus and i will listen to how you respond to this because all i hear on the tb no matter what channel is this is the big subject of the of the year and perhaps what’s going to be in the few years to come and it’s all about religion.
So I’m going to ask you about Jesus, and I want to know, what do they say, what would Jesus do? Is that right? That’s a good one, yeah. OK. I would like to know, these are the items that really may change the election and who would go elected. I want you to ask you, what does he feel about the poor, homeless and the sick and if I was to speak to him as a candidate I would ask him how would you handle these situations?
Okay. What do you think he would do and these three items which may change who’s going to be elected? All right that’s the question. That’s the question. Okay well Harold you know Jesus talks about how we should care for the poor and reach out to the poor. The Bible tells us that he so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son. Those that are religious and self-righteous oftentimes will miss the truth because they feel like they have no need.
But oftentimes the poor are at an advantage in a way spiritually because they recognize they have. They have learned what dependence is all about, that they have to depend on family or friends or others or their church to help them through difficult times. And therefore they can understand that they need dependence upon God as well. And Christ invites everyone, coming to me, all you that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest. So he invites all, there’s no one excluded based on whatever background they have or upon their lifestyle or their sins that they have committed.
The Bible says that we’re all sinners, but God loves the Vila’s sinner and that whosoever will can come and receive of the water of life free the Christ died for all men. And certainly you read about in the New Testament the Gospels, especially Christ, making reference to the poor and to the fact that he had compassion upon people and he cared about their needs and especially the fact that they needed him because without him they really had no shepherd and would not be able to enter heaven.
I love the passage in Matthew’s Gospel. Jesus, it says in verse 35 of chapter 9, went about all the cities and villages teaching in their synagogues and preaching the gospel of the kingdom and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. And when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them because they fainted. They were giving up and they were scattered abroad as sheep having no shepherd. When he said to his disciples, the harvest truly is plentyous, but the laborers are few.
Pray there for the Lord of the harvest that he will send forth laborers into his harvest. So Christ saw the need and saw the multitudes and he cared about people. I think a lot of our politicians today are not thinking about the needs of the people and are not even voting in the way that the people would want them to vote. They seem to be self-serving and after the interest that line their pockets rather than taking care of the actual needs of the people today.
So I think if a politician were Christ-like, they would be a lot different than they are right now in office and those that are running for office. How do you know how I respond to that? i knew you can you can say all that and you know what jesus christ is labeled as is that right that’s right that’s what i was waiting to give you the punchline that the attack republicans eight is a liberal because that what you said about the poor sick they say that’s it’s a giveaway and they’re going to be spending all the money on the poor in the sick and the health care and so he’s noted as a liberal and i wanted to get that word out because the liberal uh…
philosophy of the teaching of krai is being attacked everyday it’s liberals like a word that that’s going to win their election because they handed him a liberal tag very interesting and i think a great observation that you know we’re living uh… in a strange time are we Oh, I mean, it certainly is, and the fact is due to the Judeo-Christian culture, you know, I had told you this before, it doesn’t exist because I have to, I would vote for Jesus.
I haven’t voted years, but the philosophy and what you said, and I believe he is a liberal, well I would help the poor. there’s a big health care that if they want everybody in the united states that the Dems to have health care the other side says no we can’t do that you go out and find a job and paper it yourself so Jesus I think Jesus spoke to me somewhere another say this but he’s titled as a liberal and that’s not right in my opinion and that may sway my vote without a doubt Well, obviously Christ gets slammed for whatever He does, but He obviously loved us in this planet.
You know, there’s nothing deserving about any of us. We all really deserve help that God so loved the world He gave His Son. And ultimately, everyone that puts our trust in Him has a wonderful and bright future. We have a mansion waiting for us in Heaven, He’ll supply all of our needs, whatever they might be, physical and emotionally and spiritually in heaven. We’re going to have a marvelous time being reunited with loved ones and friends and others that have trusted Christ.
This world here though is obviously not heaven and it’s not hell either. Certainly we’re disappointed by so many things that we see here in this world and we certainly have drifted away from our Christian roots in this country. Certainly this country was founded as a Christian country based on the teachings of the Bible and of Christ and we are quickly drifting away from that and becoming very self-serving. The Bible says in the last days which I believe we’re in, the love of many would grow cold and were becoming cold harder than an insensitive and not caring about the needs of people which I think is a tragedy.
Well how about, I don’t know this, but was it a turning of the cheek or love thy neighbor? It wasn’t this? Yeah, and the beatitudes and Matthew, sure. Yeah, well you see now you saw, you’re my pastor, on Russia’s Shana I speak to my past, I don’t speak to a rabbi, I speak to a pastor, that’s a switch. But the fact of the matter is that liberal tag is on Jesus and that is definitely not right. So I’m going to go to the other question of First Answer.
If Somehow we lost him there for a second. Go ahead. Is Joel Osteen. You ever hear him? Yeah. Well, he’s got about 80,000 people who speaks to on TV and everything. But here’s the question. He starts off by saying, he picks up the Bible, see? And he says to this 80,000 audience, this repeat, and yet he very repeat, this is my Bible. I would like to ask you, what Bible? I mean why doesn’t he say what Bible I’m confused?
I really don’t know but he doesn’t generally ever quote it. You know he holds it but then after that it’s basically no Bible at all. That’s exactly right. He goes into, I don’t think he’s ever from what I switch on. I don’t think he’s ever mentioned Jesus. And when I see this, this is my Bible and I ask you you know we had this before. What Bible is? There’s five different Bibles that I can name. Oh yeah, many different translations.
I know it’s hard to find out what people really believe and you have to really do your homework. So they leave you kind of questioning a lot of things like that. So it’s a crazy world. Know that about it. I want to finish this by saying I received a letter from the religious editor of the Sun to recommend a profile of you and I got a very nice answer from Jim Davis and the reason they can’t do a profile is you’re out of the area.
They don’t handle Tampa. Okay, I understand. But he gave me a big thanks and I really appreciate your answer and I think I know where I’m going to vote. All right, well thank you a lot Harold and God bless. Take care. That was Harold down in South Florida and we’re now going to go to John in Richmond, Virginia. Hi, I’m Daniel John. Welcome to Bibleline. Yes. You’re on the air. I was just for the answer question about who was a false proper?
Who can have had I had no back from a false proper? Well, I would write down Isaiah 820, Isaiah 820. 8 20. If they speak not according to this word, that is the word of God, it is because there is no light in them. So you have to listen carefully to what they say and line it up with the Bible. And if it does not line up, if they do not speak according to that this word the word of God Isaiah 820 they have no light so then they’re a false teacher so they have to be in line with the Bible.
Yeah that’s what I thought but I hear you tell this man Father God to see he asks you about a for man be the one of the communication and stuff and I guess what he would be saying. Well the thing is that Christ died for sinners were all sinners. his sin that has come short of the glory of God. Once you trust Christ, you still have us in nature. And if you then once you become saved, sin, God will as a father for the first time because he’s not your father until you get saved, will then discipline you.
You know, when you’re born into your parents’ family, when you did right, I’m sure they probably rewarded you, but when you did wrong they probably spanked you or disciplined you in some way, but you were still her son either way. If you’re obedient, you’re still your father’s son, and if you’re disobedient, you’re still your father’s son. So once you become born again, your obedience or disobedience does not change your sonhood. You’re still a child of God, but God will discipline you if you’re going to be delinquent.
So, and if If you’re not disciplined, it proves you’re not saved because God says He spanks every one of His kids. So if you’re living as you please, and there’s no chasing from God in your life, it says in Hebrews 12 8 that you’re a bastard and not a child of God. You’re not a son. Hey, if you are saved, if you were saved, you wouldn’t do those things, would you? You can. You can and obviously if you’ve read 1st and 2nd Corinthians, those people were doing everything wrong.
They were still saved but they were living in fornication. They were committing adultery. They were extorting one another. They were drinking. were doing all those sins that are listed there in Corinth and Paul is telling them that they needed to get their lives straightened out because they were going to be accountable at the judgment seat of Christ for how they lived to determine the degree of reward in heaven. But also while they’re here on this earth God would discipline them if they were delinquent.
So you’re not going to get away with it. You’re going to be held accountable for how you live once you become saved. it had nothing to do with their salvation. They were saved by what Christ did for them, not what they’re doing for God. God, hey! You tell, well you’re talking, you’ll call a lot of people to be done these things. Wrong thing, you’re teaching them to do those things. Well, I don’t think I am because, you know, in my years of ministry I’ve seen so many that have understood exactly what I’m saying here and are living for the Lord, serving the Lord on five continents.
I have missionaries, I have Bible teachers, and I have preachers and seminary teachers, all knowing exactly what I said is true, but they because they’re so grateful, they’re living for Christ and they’re not out there living as they please. And if they did try to live as they please, they might not be living right now because the Lord takes people home to heaven early. That’s what we just read a little bit ago in 1 Corinthians 5 1, the man living in adultery with his mother, the Lord says, or Paul said to turn him over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit of that man would be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.
So he was saved, but the Lord took his life early. Okay, I can go out there and live in front of Kesh and then and deflate you. That’s correct. Well, I’m not going to do it because I don’t believe that. All right. that you have to not live in the fortification to earn your way to heaven, then you’re believing in works for salvation and you’re going to go to hell. In other words, salvation does not have to do with your behavior, your conduct.
It has to do with what Christ did for you at the cross. And once you trust Him, you become His Son. If you’re an obedient son, He’s going to bless you and reward you. If you’re a disobedient son, He’s going to spank you. And the spanking is not a pleasure. I’ve buried a lot of people that are in their 20s because of sin that they were living in in their life as a Christian and God just took them out of here.
They died and they’re dead. They’re not around. No, they didn’t go to hell. They went to heaven but they went to heaven early. Read again 1 Corinthians 5-5. It says the man would be saved and yet God allowed Satan to take his life early. if you will, 1 Corinthians chapter 10 verse 23, where God took 23,000 Christians home in one day. He doesn’t send them to hell. He takes them home. And I hope that you’ll read those passages in Corinthians because the Bible is very clear that once you get saved, you’re safe forever, but you cannot live as you please.
God is going to not allow that. He’s not at least going to allow you to stay on the earth and do that. He’ll take you home to heaven we have adam in ten pf ora adam welcome to bible i think that they can’t look at the michael that last call there all man i’m i’m planning to that man and and the thing is that what you’ve been teaching is the absolute truth and the problem is that you used to believe exactly like you did and that just fires and salvation and and i’m going to get out my question My question is, well, I’m so frustrated because of that.
But, my question comes from when you say that people do signs and wonders. You would sit and ditar on me, and you’re teaching one time, ditar on me. to run a chapter thirteen now everyone in the gospel of john believed in Jesus because of the signs that he did. I don’t believe everyone believed in him because of the signs, but many did. Especially the miracle he did with Lazarus. Many, many came to believe on Christ as being that Messiah that had been promised.
But the signs were obviously something that got it promised that would identify who Jesus Christ is. That he is indeed the Messiah. Isaiah, if you read chapter 35, tells in Messiah would give sight to the blind and hearing to the deaf and he would make the lame to walk and so on and so on. These would all be signs of who the Messiah is. And so definitely signs are done by the Lord and by his apostles, but also in the last days, the Bible says signs would be done by false prophets.
Matthew 24, 24 says, in the last days, they would arise many false Christ and they would show great signs and wonders in so much if it were possible they would deceive the very elect. So genuine believers would be caught up and deceived by false teachers in the last days because they would be doing the signs and the wonders, but genuine believers would not be doing the signs and wonders in the last days. So I think we’re there. Okay, well, thank you that answer is it.
Okay, good. Matthew 24 is obviously a great verse that tells us about that. We’re going to go to Linda in Spring Hill, Florida. Linda, welcome to Bibleline. Hi, Dr. Hank. You’re on the air. I’m sorry. In answer to Harold, just off the hip, he was kind of eluding to. I was thinking of some of the debates that they had when Hillary declared her, I forget what she called it, but what it is is like a progressive socialist. In the liberal part, the democratic liberal has been taken over by a group of people that no longer like they would relate and think of democratic.
And I thought about Jesus or about the word where it says, if a man doesn’t work, he doesn’t eat. And Jesus is balanced and he says that, you know, if you don’t work, you don’t eat. And so Christians are the most generous, they give the most contributions, I’m sorry, Republicans, just talking about his liberal versus conservative. And Jesus admonishes us to help those who can help themselves. But we have free education and everything else. And the masses do not take advantage of the things that are given to him free.
And it’s just like you don’t work, you don’t eat, you don’t study, you don’t learn, you don’t learn, you don’t get a job. And Jesus also says the poor would be with you always. And that’s because God knows that these people, certain people, are never going to take advantage of all of their gifts that God gave them, all of their want to say, things that their own government provides. But if you have in a country that’s persecuted, and they’re tortured, and they’re not allowed to help themselves, those are where we help.
So I think that he needs to think about when he’s talking about voting that you have to balance everything out and look at the big picture. I think you’re absolutely right and that’s a great answer and certainly the Bible does teach that obviously people have a responsibility to work and to take care of their family and the Bible teaches all those principles and you’re absolutely right. And then the other thing is, today you can’t, you really have to look at the person because, I don’t know what word you could use, but they’re taken over and they’re desecrated.
The conservatives went to moderates that go to socialist views and so did the Democrats are heavy in it. So you have to look at the man and you have to look at your Bible and you have to read the whole console of the Bible, not just bits and pieces, and balance it all out. And, you know, the bones of it is pretty easy. Are they protecting us? Are they protecting our children? Are they making it easy on our elderly?
Or are they giving it all away to foreign countries? Or blah, blah, blah, blah. You know, all the different things, and you have to look at it all and say, does this man support abortion? Will he defend our borders? Is he believe in sovereignty for America? Does he believe in freedom of speech so that Christians are being persecuted in our own USA? And so that we are allowed to vote, we are allowed to give an opinion, and we are allowed to contribute to our world.
And then he can make up his mind who fits that one best or everybody else. Not just that he’s a Democrat or he’s a Republican or he’s an independent or he’s a communist or whatever. But anyway, that was my little one. Okay, well you did a good job. Thank you very much. Thank you Linda. That was Linda in the Spring Hill, Florida. We have Vince in Tampa, Florida. Vince, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Vince, you’re on the air.
On the Vince? Well, I don’t hear Vince, so we’ll go to Troy in the land, Florida. Troy, welcome to Bibleline. Good morning pastor. I just want to say that men they have gotten caught up in their traditions and Christ has taught us about that and that people just they don’t realize and they don’t read the Bible for themselves. They go to certain churches that preach a doctrine that add to the cross and there’s no not one family in the Bible that was perfect.
We all needed Christ from Abraham to Paul, Jacob, Israel, he was a thief. You know, he’s throwing the birth right. I mean, there’s so many people, churches, that keep… Well, we’re and I agree, we are out of time and we’re gonna have to say good God. Don’t read it and don’t understand and don’t they really call you up pastor to argue with you about their traditions and they they have no basis. They can’t even go to the Bible and improve to use certain things that you have taught and that the Bible teaches not you.
Right. Well, we’re and they will hang out from me and I agree we are out of time and we’re gonna have to say goodbye. We want you to keep looking up. Jesus is coming and I hope you’ll join us again tomorrow and Bibleline will be back in the morning. To Bibleline, a presentation of Bibleline ministries of Tampa, Florida. Well, I’m Dr. Anker, and I hope you’ve enjoyed today. Lots of different ideas thrown out there. And you have to get into your Bible to see what the truth really is. And Christ is the truth. He is the life. He’s the way. And when you trust Him, God saves you. And obviously the most important task we have while we’re here on this Earth as Christians is to win the lost to Christ.
We’re never told to make this world a better place to go to hell from. We’re basically rescuing people who are headed for hell. And many of them think that they’re on their way to heaven because they are religious, but yet have never understood the grace, the mercy of the Lord Jesus Christ who died for sinners. And when we simply trust as our Savior we’ve become saved. Tell your friends about the program. Tell them about the internet. They can catch so far we have 44 sermons up there, video and audio.
You can watch television programs up there on the internet. You can watch and listen to radio programs from the past year. You can listen to them around the clock as often as you want. You can hear today’s show a little bit later in a couple of hours and you’ll be able to hear for the next year. It’s all there and you can go back and listen to those programs. Why not take advantage of that and all the different resources we have.
Call and get a resource sheet sent to you that will tell you the many things that we have in our resource center. And if you haven’t given the Bibleline this month of September, would you send a gift by mail or would you call in and give a gift by credit card over the phone? We pray that you have trusted Christ’s savior To be saved you must realize that you can’t do a thing, that Christ has done it all. When you simply trust in the finished work of Christ, that by His death and shed blood He purchased your salvation and trust Christ and Christ alone, God saves you.
We have to go because the time has run out, but we’ll be back tomorrow Lord willing, and I hope you’ll be there to join us and tell your friends to join you as well. God bless, have a great day, keep looking up, Jesus is coming. You’ve been listening to Bibleline, a presentation of Bibleline Ministries of Tampa, Florida.
