Hopefully you have your Bible there and we’ll take a look at it. look at the scriptures with me as we turn to the Bible. The Bible tells us that the Lord is coming back and what is so amazing is some of the incredible prophecies given by Daniel thousands of years ago.
What a book! This book really has come to light since the book of Revelation which has opened up the understanding to that marvelous book of Daniel. The book of Daniel was sealed up. One of the marks of inspiration here is that Daniel clearly tells us that he doesn’t know what he’s writing about. He says in chapter 12, and I heard, and this is in verse 8 of Daniel, I heard but understood not. Then said I, O my Lord, what shall be the end of these things?
And God said to him, go thy way, Daniel, for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end. Imagine Daniel writing the book of Daniel and then saying, Lord, what did I write about? Isn’t that incredible? Usually if you write something, you know what you’re writing about, don’t you? I would think so. And Daniel is saying here, I heard, Lord, you said, I wrote it down, but I understood not. Then I said, oh my Lord, what shall be the end of these things?
And verse 9, he says, go thy way, for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end. Well, it’s interesting. The book of Revelation opens up the book of Daniel and makes it very understandable. Things that we could not have understood, things that could not have really been interpreted are clearly interpreted in the book of Revelation. Some of the phrases in Daniel is the phrase time times and half of time. Nobody knew what that meant at all until the book of Revelation comes along.
And in chapter 12 of the book of Revelation, it makes time times and half of time equivalent to three and a half years, half of the tribulation period that will follow the rapture and precede the second coming of price back to the earth to rule and reign. we find out if it equals three and a half years, then time equals one year times equals two years, a half a time means a half a year, add that up one plus two plus a half, that’s three and a half years.
And so the phrase that we didn’t know the meaning to, time times and a half a time becomes very clear. Not exciting. So the book of Revelation is open. When you read the book of Revelation, it doesn’t say the words are sealed up. It says it’s a book, It is open to our understanding. And Daniel tells us about what would happen at the end of days. Now we’re talking about when God’s plan for this world and for Israel would come to a culmination when Christ would come back and actually rule over the earth, finally bringing peace on earth good will toward men you know what the angels announced that the first coming That there would be peace on earth good will toward men was postponed Because Christ was rejected What but will be fulfilled at the second coming of Jesus Christ when Christ comes back?
It says that there will be peace on the earth. Let me go to an amazing prophecy in in Isaiah chapter 7 and It is all the encompassing of the two comings of Jesus Christ. This is in chapter 7, it says here that the Lord Himself will give you a sign and it says behold a virgin shall conceive and bear a son and shall call his name Emmanuel. Well this of course is Jesus the God-Man. a child would be born of a virgin and that human child that would be born of a virgin would actually be called Emmanuel, which is an untranslated Hebrew word that means God dwelling with you.
So Jesus is God who took on human flesh and I never knew that in the church I was raised in, but here the Bible is very clear all throughout the Bible that Jesus is God. Should we call the Jehovah’s Witnesses? They deny that. Should we call the Seventh Adventist? They deny that. Should we call the Christian scientists? They deny that in so many groups deny the deity of Christ. And according to the Bible, if you reject the Son, then you do not have the Father and you’ll not be saved.
Let’s go to chapter 9 now, of Isaiah. In verse 6, where it says here, for unto us a child is born unto us a Son is given. Notice here a distinction here between the birth of the flesh that God took upon himself that was born in Bethlehem and the fact that God the eternal son, the second member of the Godhead who has eternally existed came and gave himself in that body, became a man, went to the cross and gave his life for you and for me.
So we have here that a child was born, that is the flesh. Some teach that Mary is the mother of God. Mary is not the mother of God. God does not have a father or a mother. God has always been, he wasn’t born. But the flesh that God took upon himself was born, and Mary was the mother of that flesh. But Mary certainly was not the mother of God. You can’t support that from the Bible, but yet how often many people recite how that Mary is the mother of God.
That’s not true. This is absolutely not true at all. She was the mother of the flesh that God took upon himself. Then it says here, the government shall be upon his shoulder. That’s talking about the second coming when the governments of this world will be upon Christ and he will rule over the earth. Then it tells his names. His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor. The next name, notice this, the mighty God. You mean Jesus Christ is the mighty God?
Yes he is. He is God who took him on flesh. The next name, catch this, the everlasting Father. Jesus is called here, the everlasting Father. It then says he’s the Prince of Peace. And then verse 7, talking of his second coming, says of the increase of his government and peace, there shall be no end. And upon the throne of David and upon his kingdom, to order it, to establish it with judgment, with justice from henceforth, even forever, the Lord or rather the zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.
So when Jesus comes the second time, he will rule over the kingdoms of this world, and his peace will spread throughout the entire world. Isaiah describes it as this piece that like a river will flow to every end of the earth. The whole earth will be at peace during the reign of Christ. We believe we’re getting very, very close. Are you aware what’s going on in this world? Apparently it came out now out of hiding in the Larry King live show last night that there has been a plan now going on behind the scenes for several years for Canada and the United States and Mexico to become a union like the European common market, thelimits the European Union.
So there will be the American Union and they already have a new currency plan. You can go on the internet and Google it and you’ll see pictures of the coinage and of the pictures on the bills and the new currency will be the Amero. That’s right. You can throw out your US dollar bills. They are not going to be around very much longer. They’re saying that the Amero will replace our currency very shortly and will no longer be governed under the United States Constitution or the Bill of Rights.
But there will be an independent rotating leadership that will govern Mexico, the United States, and Canada. Apparently, this is done behind the scenes and we’re just now discovering that this is happening while we’re sleeping. Well, we’re living in the end times. Certainly these are signs of the attempt For the world to be controlled by Satan during the tribulation period that precedes The second coming of Christ. I think we’re getting close and if I didn’t know my Bible and if I didn’t know I was on the winning side I think I’d be nervous right now about what I see coming on the world so many things that Christ said would happen are happening Israel would be hated above all nations, and what is the tragic thing is not only more and more nations are turning against Israel, but also even Christians, or so-called Christians, those who name the name of
Christ. The United Methodist Church of America, 7.9 million members, decided just two weeks ago to boycott all companies dealing with Israel and decide where the Palestinians.latest. Isn’t that amazing? It’s really anti-Semitic. The press materials did that two years ago. The press material church USA about 3 million members decided to boycott all companies doing business with Israel and signing with the Palestinians. The United Church of Christ 2.5 million years about a year ago decided to do the same thing. Isn’t this amazing that so-called Christians, those who name the name of Christ, are turning against Israel and saying they have no right to the land.
and they are in the Middle East, and that they are the troublemakers. Isn’t that amazing? And so we’re living, I think, in the last days, and these things are happening before our very eyes. The Bible tells us that antisemitism is really satanically inspired. The devil, Satan, hates Israel. Why? Number one, they brought about the Bible. God wrote the Scriptures. He is the author and we find here that Satan hates the word of God. So he hates Israel who gave us the prophets and the apostles that gave us the scripture.
Number two, he hates Jesus. Jesus came out of the nation of Israel. And so he hates Israel that spawned the Messiah. Jesus Christ came out of the nation of Israel. And of course it is this people that confirm that God’s promises are always yay and not and will come to pass. And because God preserves Israel and keeps them as the apple of his eye and has a plan that is still going to be worked out. And I believe very soon in the future God is going to restore Israel to become the head nation on the earth at the end of that seven years that will follow the rapture when we’re taking it out of here.
And it’s a sad thing when the nation is turning against Israel, but it’s even sadder when those who claim that they are Christian turn against the Jews. This is the replacement theology that you hear about more and more today taught by men like R.C. Stroll, Hank Hennigraff, the press materials, the Roman Catholics of course carried it down to the Reformation, but then the press materials are reforms. Lutherans, the Methodist, all of these really have said God has done with Israel and the The church has replaced Israel and there is no literal thousand year kingdom coming up.
And there is no tribulation period. The tribulation period has already occurred. It was from 8064 to 8070 that Christ already returned in 8070 and that we’re right now already living in the kingdom. This is not true at all. You can’t do that if you take the Bible literally and it’s a shame we have that confusion today. I’m Dr. Hank Vinstroom and this is Bible and we’re going to go to our phone lines if you like to call us. The number is 1-800-576-3771.
1-800-576-3771. We’re going to go to Bobby in Tampa and Bobby welcome to Bibleline you are on the air. Yes, hi my name is Bobby and I have two questions. First one I believe it’s John 3-3 and it talks about when you’re about the water and unless you’re born of the water and of the spirit you’re not born again. What does that refer to? And also my second part of the question is, I believe it’s in Mark, maybe Luke, it talks about he who repents and is baptized shall be saved.
Are these scriptures indicating baptism is required for salvation? What exactly was Jesus saying here? All right, good question. In John 3.5, he’s clearly telling us that you have to have two births. The first birth is a birth of water. It’s not a baptism. It’s a birth. And when you’re enclosed in your mother’s womb, you’re enclosed in a sack of water. And when the water sack breaks out, you come and ask the natural birth, the physical birth, the birth that we have that brings us into this world as a human being.
The second birth is a birth of the spirit. And if you read verse 6 there, Christ says, that which is born of the flesh is flesh and that which is born of the spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, you must be born again. We’ve all had the water birth. So that one’s already occurred. There’s nothing about baptism at all in John 3. And what he’s talking about there is a second birth that follows the natural birth, the water birth when you come out of your mother’s womb and the water sac breaks.
If you look over in Mark 16, that you’re referring to there, it says, he the believer and his baptist shall be saved. I believe it’s not talking about water, but it’s talking about the spirit baptism. If you go back to chapter 1 of Mark in verse 8. John the Baptist said, I need a baptizer with water, but he Christ shall baptize you with Holy Spirit. We have nothing more about water in the book of Mark. We come to the end of the book.
Christ is already crucified, already buried, already risen from the dead. And now he’s talking about being cleansed or washed by the Spirit of God at the moment you believe. So when you believe in our Spirit baptized, which is the one that places you into Christ’s body, the one that is necessary for salvation you’re saying, but it’s not talking about water. There are 10 different baptisms taught in the New Testament. Most of them are dry, like the Spirit Baptism doesn’t involve any liquid, and if you want to get some of my articles on that, you can go to the internet and go to Dr.
Minsons articles on the home page, click on the bottom right corner, and you can look up about four or five articles I’ve written about baptism. Also, I have several CDs where I cover all ten of the baptisms, all the scriptures related, and you have to go to the context of the book or of the verses that you’re talking about to see what’s going on. And so that’s what we’ve done here. In John 3, he’s talking about being born of water, not baptized of water, and of the Spirit, and the birth of water is the natural birth.
The birth of the Spirit is the new birth that occurs when you trust Christ. And then in Mark 16 is talking about believing and then being cleansed by Christ who baptizes you with the Holy Spirit as a believer. Hopefully that helps, Bobby. I think that will do it, but I really appreciate your help. Thank you so much. You’re very welcome. And thank you for calling in. Bobby, in Tampa, Florida, we now have John in Seminole. John, welcome to Bibleline You on the Air.
Well, there’s more to start. Yeah, I’m Catholic and I listen to you because you’re credible grasp of the book. Anyway, I understand that a couple of weeks ago the question came up as to whether or not Catholics were Christians and I wanted to hear what you said about that. Well, there are Catholics that are Christians and there are Catholics that are not Christians There are Baptists that are Christians that are Baptists that are not Christians in other words the Bible says When you put your trust in Jesus alone as your only hope of heaven you become born again You become a child of God and you are a Christian But just being the member of an organization or denomination does not make you a Christian So that is the answer.
You can be a church member and go to hell. You must trust Christ like Christ said you must be born again. And the way you’re born again is in John 3 16, God’s soul of the world. That’s each of us in the human race that he gave his only begotten son that was Jesus Christ who died for us and was buried in rose again from the dead. Whosoever, believe it, that word, believe it means to trust. If you trust in Christ as your only hope of heaven, Then the Bible says you will not perish because he perished in your place, but that you would have that’s a present tense verb You possess right now at the moment of belief everlasting life.
So there are Christians within every church denomination, I believe probably so but Being a member of a church denomination does not make you a Christian Some people think that because they’re born in America They’re Christian, but the logic doesn’t follow if you were born in a garage that wouldn’t make you an automobile So in order to be a Christian you have to be born again, you have to trust Christ. Yeah, all right. Okay. Well, I have to walk off.
Okay, John. Well, I’m glad you called and I’m glad you’re listening out there. All right. Thank you. All right. And that was John in Seminole, Florida. We are now going to go to Edgar, and he’s in Spring Lake, North Carolina. And so Edgar, welcome to my one. You are on the air. See how you do it is more than that. Yeah. Um Last week I was listening to our Bibleline and I called the code in about the Walmart doll and Since the doll was saying something about that on the makeup the doll should continue to sell and manufacture that doll But to me that’s that’s condoning people having idols and although We as somewhat well depending on who you are as a mature believer even though you may not but um, vow and worship or reveal that doll, people like the Catholics and other people
who are not as strong, they may worship that doll. So I think I have, I really do have a problem with that. And to me it seems like you straddle. Okay, I’ve never seen that all. What does it all look like? What is it a replica? I haven’t seen him myself. I was just going back with my father. I had no idea. You know, I think you can have toys and things. My granddaughter has a little cute little rabbit in your push its belly and it begins to sing.
Jesus loves the little children. She loves that rabbit and she pushes that little button and she’s singing about Jesus loves the little children all day long. And I think that’s great. I really wouldn’t be able to sing it all day long with her myself, but she could be. I wish that button and sing about Jesus all day long. I think some of these things can be great AIDS, and I don’t think that she’s worshiping the little rabbit. She’s just singing that wonderful song, and it facilitates that.
So I don’t know. I haven’t seen the doll. I have no idea what it looks like. But I think that if it’s scriptural, and it aids to bring people to think about scripture and recite scripture, or to sing about his praises, it’s, I don’t see a thing wrong with it. But if you find out something more about it where it seems to be where you would make it an object of worship, then I would say yes, it is wrong.
So thank you. I’d go for calling in from North Carolina. I don’t have a clue what this doll is you’re talking about. But I know that we have children’s toys and if they can bring them to Christ and have them singing about Jesus, I think it’s great. We’re now going to go to David in Ringo, Georgia. David welcome to Bibleline Thank you Can I get you to hold on because I am right here on break time and I hate to do that to you but we’re gonna have to go to break and David will hold you and We’ll get our operator to talk to you about it But we have to go to break we’ll do a second half hour Bibleline and I know it goes by so quickly Sometimes I miss looking at the clock myself And so we will talk to David in just a minute when we get back from break keep your radio dial tuned right where it is and
and we’ll be right back after this short break. Don’t go away. Bibleline will be back in a moment. Give us a call at 1-800- 800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Well, I’m Dr. Hank Lindstrom and this is Bibleline and it is great to be with you. We look forward to being with you each and every day Monday through Friday and we thank God for this opportunity to chat with you about the Bible and hopefully give you Bible- Bible answers and get you to look at the Bible in a fresh way.
I’m so glad I found out what the Bible had to say as I was a teenager and I was raised in church but never knew how to go to heaven. This is of course a problem with so many, raised in church but never knew how to be saved. Maybe that’s true of you, maybe, and I have people tell me that trust the Lord through Bibleline that they have never really heard it or understood it until they heard it explained here on Bibleline.
In one way we are blessed and excited about that. In another way we are saddened that there are not more clear witnesses out there sharing the gospel and leading people to Christ. We hope that you are learning how to do that. We have some great resources that will help you. We have the handbook of personal evangelism for a gift of $12 plus shipping. That book tells you basically how to open mouth, what to say when mouth is open and how to close mouth at the appropriate time and lead that person to Christ.
We also have tracks that really work that actually lead people to Christ. We have a lot of other tools. We have a CD called How Permanent is Your Salvation that has led thousands of Christ. We have found in our experience that if you can get somebody to hear that CD, the chances are real good that they would trust the Lord. Isn’t that exciting? So here’s a tool that you could be pretty much assured, if you ever get someone to listen to it, that there’s a good chance that they’re going to trust Jesus as a Savior.
You might want to call and talk to our operators about what we have. Also get a resource sheet sent to you. Also visit the website and look at our online bookstore. It’s BibleLineMinistries.org.com. I hope you’ll take advantage of the DVDs and the CDs. We just finished the Gospel of John. We have about 20 hours of teaching on CD and also available on DVD for you to watch and to enjoy and to learn from. And you’ll find that it’ll help you not only in your Christian growth but also to be a a better witness.
We are ready to rejoin the stations that have been on break. Stay right where you are and keep that radio right next to you. Here we go. Dr. Lindstrom a question? You can. Just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Now here again is Dr. Hank Lindstrom. all right we’re back from that breaking this is about one of the street to be with phone.
you on this wednesday and it’s exciting to be living in these days we know crisis coming back if i didn’t know the bible i think it’d be a little bit frightened because uh… It’s a scary world out there and it’s not getting better. It’s getting worse. Read the headlines every day and you can see that. And I hope that you’re a believer and I hope you have your trust and your hope in the Lord. I love that hymn, my hope is in the Lord.
And as a believer, my trust is in God, not in men. And as men lead us, they disappoint us and we can see that. But certainly the Lord never will disappoint us. We’ve got a lot of callers waiting online. We’ll try to get to each of you. And also if you want to call in and be one of them, you can call 1-800-576-3771. We’re talking about a trip to Israel the last week of February and the first week of March.
You can call in and get on that list of those that are interested. And we’ll make sure that you are informed as we make our plans. It ought to be a wonderful time of walking in the footsteps of the prophets and of Christ and the Apostles will have a super time. You’re invited, call us and get on that list and we’d love to have you go with us. It’ll be trip number 15 for me. We just got back from March this year going and it was a wonderful trip.
Boy, it was just great. It was nothing, I could have been better. And we look forward to another wonderful trip this coming year. I hope you’ll go along with me. I am also wanting you to know that we’re gonna have a baptism, the third Sunday of this month. If you have not been water baptized, since you have been saved, you ought to be. As a believer, baptism at infancy does not count. Baptism before you are ever saved does not count.
True believers baptism is a testimonial on the part of a person who has trusted Christ that they have been cleansed of their sin by the blood of Christ. I hope that is true for you. You have trusted Christ and now want to give testimony by being immersed. I would be honored to include you and baptize you in our coming up at three o’clock in the afternoon on the 21st of October. You can come and make it a day. Join us for our 1030 worship.
Stay for a wonderful lunch. You’ll be my guest and we’ll go and be baptized in a small lake north of Babylon headquarters here at three in the afternoon. Would you join us? Call us and get on the list and we’ll be happy to accommodate you in that way. We’re gonna go back to the phone lines. We have David in Clearwater and David Let me just go back to the one that’s been holding in Ricko Georgia David in Georgia. Let me go back to you.
I’m sorry. We had to catch you off. Yes, sir. Thank you for taking my call You moments ago I was listening to conversation there concerning that and I wanted to respond to that and clarify a couple of things. I’m certainly the word God is of course the ultimate rule here. But Massychep 3 I think makes it pretty clear. Here Jesus really did John baptize him. He said to fulfill all righteousness. And of course Christ being our righteousness, setting the pattern there, I wanted to clarify what your treatment of baptism is not necessary under salvation.
Well that’s exactly right. If you attempt to be baptized to be saved then you’re totally misled. Paul says in 1 Corinthians 1, 14, I thank God I baptized none of you. If baptism were necessary for salvation, Paul would be saying, I thank God that you’re all going to hell that none of you are saved. He said in 1 Corinthians 17 Christ sent me not to baptize but to preach the gospel. So water baptism is not a part of the saving message of the gospel or he could have never said that.
He said Christ sent me not to baptize but he sent me to preach the gospel. We also find that What Christ was saying there in Matthew 3 15 is that this was a work of righteousness that he was doing to fulfill the Old Testament law. And you’ll notice if you read Deuteronomy, rather Exodus chapter 28 and 29, that a priest, when he became 30 years of age, was fully immersed in water and was baptized as a way of consecrating him to the ministry.
Jesus was exactly thirty when he was baptized and that marked the beginning of his ministry. Prior to his baptism he did no miracles, he did not preach and everything began when he became dirty and here he was following the type of being a priest from the Old Testament as he is our high priest. But if you read Titus 3.5 it says, we are not saved by works of righteousness which we have done which that would be a work of righteousness but were saved according to his mercy and is there by the washing of the new birth.
The regeneration of the new birth takes and cleanses us or washes us of our sin. Water has nothing to do with saving us. You can anchor people out in the Atlantic for years and it wouldn’t take away one sin. The hymn writer wrote it correctly when he said, What can wash away my sin? And the answer is nothing but the the blood nothing but the blood nothing but the blood nothing but the blood it’s only the blood of Christ that concludes your sin.
Well, sure. I’ll let the water and the spirit and the blood agree. And like you mentioned, the priesthood, before anybody, and of course we all, priesthood and Christ, can enter into the priesthood. He said there is a washing the mikvah washing in Matthew 28, 19 Jesus commanded baptism. For for believers he says there teach all nations that word means the disciple all nations and you are to baptize disciples this is the coming out of the closet this is the proclamation that you’re saved out a testimony that you were cleansed by the blood of Christ.
And this is where you then mark the beginning of your ministry as Christ mark giving his ministry has nothing to do with salvation. The first part of the Great Commission is to win the laws to preach the gospel to them. And then those that you win to Christ that believe in us will were to teach them or disciple them. And then those disciples we are to baptize. I don’t think we just indiscriminately baptize people. We baptize those that are ready to make a declaration publicly that, hey, I’m a believer.
I want to live in the newness of life. I want to proclaim Christ. I want to serve Him. And I baptize a lot of people every year by immersion. And it’s wonderful. They are marking the beginning of a new beginning in their life, but it has nothing to do with their salvation. It will not wash away their sin. So you’re saying that baptism is not the application of the blood of Jesus. Absolutely not. And you’re trusting in water baptism to get you to heaven, you’ll go to hell.
Because you’re adding to what Christ has done. The Bible tells us, just like the dying thief, when you trust Christ, Christ said to that dying thief today, they’ll be with me in paradise. But if you are to add a work which Matthew 3, 15, Christ tells us that baptism was a work of righteousness and you add any work, the Bible says you’ll have no grace. You’ll have no mercy. It says in Romans 11, 6, if you’re saved by grace, then it’s no more of works.
Otherwise, grace is not grace. But if it be of works, you’ll have no grace. I’d hate to stand before God and have no mercy. If you and I got what we deserved, we’d go to hell. I need God’s mercy. I need His grace. The only way you can receive that is by trusting Christ alone apart from any human merit. Ephesians 2 8 says, By grace are you saved your faith in Christ and that not of yourselves. In other words, it doesn’t involve even the wiggling of your little finger.
There’s nothing that you and I can do. It’s not of works unless any man should boast or brag. You can’t say, Well, I got baptized or I joined the church or I walked the aisle. You have to say I could do nothing. The hymn writer, some of them really got it right. Just like the hymn, Just as I Am, I come without one plea, but that My blood wished for me. We can’t come and say, hey, I was baptized and I joined the church and I changed my life.
You have to say I could do nothing. I was lost and I was wretched. I was blind, but now I see. I’ve trusted Christ and I’m saved. Thank you for the call. I appreciate that. We hope that you’ll take a look at my website and look at some of the articles I’ve written and then give us a call back and we’ll talk further about it. We have Kathy in Northport, Florida. Kathy, welcome to the Bible and you’re on the air.
Hello. Hi, Kathy. You’re on the air. Oh, hi. Thank you for taking my call. I have a question. Okay. Kathy, we lost you there. Let me go back and try to get you back up here. Kathy, welcome to Bibleline. Now we have a dial sound. All right, we’ll try to get Kathy back and have her call back here again. We’re now going to go to Jennifer in Holiday. Jennifer in Holiday, welcome to Bibleline. You’re on the air. Hi, I just first wanted to say I googled Joyce Meyer the other day and I was appalled at the audio byte that I heard.
Now I know that she preaches about how Jesus, when he died on the cross, he went down to hell for three days and three nights and he became sin. Now I know that that’s not true but I’ve also heard that Jesus did actually go to hell and defeat death. Can you please explain that to me? I’m going to hang up and listen to your answer. Alright, that’s totally nonsense. It’s totally a lie. You know, Jesus went into paradise in the heart of the earth during the three days and three nights.
He never went to hell. And even the apostles creed, which I don’t like to recite and we don’t recite, says that Christ is headed into hell. This has caused a lot of confusion. But what Christ did do, it says in Matthew 1240, Christ said as Jonah was three days in three nights in the fishes belly, socialists and a man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. Now the believers of the Old Testament all went to the heart of the earth and they were in a place called Paradise.
We find in Luke 23.43 Christ told the dying thief that believed on the cross, today thou shall be with me in Paradise. So Christ went to the heart of the earth, to connect the dots here. Matthew 1240, he would be three days and three nights at 72 hours in the heart of the earth. And then Luke 23, 43, he was going to be in paradise that very day with the dying thief. So that’s the heart of the earth where paradise was.
If you read Ephesians 4, 8 through 10, it tells us that Christ descended into the heart of the earth and there led a group of captives out of the heart of the earth and took them up far beyond all heavens in the heaven itself. So paradise was removed from the heart of the earth and taken up to heaven. Why? Well the answer is because sin in the Old Testament was not paid for yet. They have what I call a layaway salvation.
In other words you know what a layaway is. You can’t really take it home from the store until you pay off the last payment and it’s fully paid for. Then you can walk out of the store with your layaway item. Well, in a sense, they had a layaway salvation and they had to wait in a place called Paradise. I couldn’t enjoy heaven. They had to wait there in a place of comfort. And there they waited until Christ made the payment for sin.
He went down and according the Bible pronounced or proclaimed liberty to those Old Testament saints. He took his keys and opened up Paradise and took them all up to heaven. And now the Old Testament Saints are in heaven. But we on this side of the cross now are absent from the body, present with the Lord. So when we die, we go directly to heaven so we no longer go to the heart of the earth. And that’s exciting. So, but Jesus, the thing is that the Ghost Myers gets wrong in so many of these so-called faith preachers get wrong is that it is a tell us that Christ went to hell and beat up the devil or had a fight with the demons and the devil and finally won.
That’s not true. Christ on the cross said it is finished. Every sin, you and I would ever commit and everyone else in the human race, whatever commit was paid for on the cross, he did not pay for one sin after his death. He did not pay for one sin during those three days and three nights. And all of our sins were paid for on the cross itself. So that whole story is a fiction that’s made up by preachers like Joyce Meyer and so i believe they’re totally wrong well thank you for calling in today jennifer and i hope that helps answer it a little bit we now have david in clear water floor and uh…
david welcome to bible and you’re on the air dr a thank you for taking my call you’re welcome uh… please forgive my uh… by ignorance here as i attempt to try and frame my question i was looking to uh… accepting jusus salvation is is gift for eternal life and the thing i’m struggling with is one of the one of the the the scriptures that was witnessed to me that just caught my attention was from the book of john were in the book of john states that For God so loved the world that he sent his only begotten son, that whoever shall believe in him shall not perish would have everlasting life in the kingdom of heaven.
To me I interpret that to mean anyone, literally anyone who chooses to believe can receive God’s salvation. Now when I was listening to this passage, I forgot his first name, please forgive my ignorance. But it was, as the last name of MacArthur, he was giving a sermon on basically worth to the effect, and again please forgive my ignorance that it’s not a good thing. that God has an elect, not a… In other words, there were selectors predetermined to accept salvation and whether you choose to believe in God or not and believe in His Son Jesus, you have to be pre-selected and he quoted I quoted several scriptures and I’m sorry that I wasn’t able to scribble them down in time because I was driving and listening to it in my car.
But does that make sense to you? Can you comment on that, please? It doesn’t make any sense. That’s called Calvinism and John MacArthur claims to be a full-fledged five-point Calvinist. And basically that’s a man-made doctrine that came out of the time of the Reformation and It says that God chooses those that will be saved and you don’t have a choice. And that makes John 3 16 really alive. There it tells us that God loved everybody in the human race and everyone has opportunity to be saved, that whosoever, as you said, would believe on Christ or trust him, would not perish but have everlasting life.
And the Bible doesn’t support what he’s saying. Now the elect are those that God has elected to save, but according to the Bible he elects to save all that would believe. D.L. Moody, the great evangelist over a hundred years ago, made it so simple. He said the Whosoever wills are the elect, and the Whosoever won’ts are the non-elect. So if you are Whosoever will and you believe and you trust, then you’re elected to be saved. But if you reject Christ, then you’re elected to go to hell.
That has made the decision before the foundation of the world that he would save all the would believe and that those who would not believe would not be saved. It’s basically that simple. So, look at our understand what you’re saying to me. So, again, and I don’t have one tenth of knowledge of scripture that you do, although I’m learning. So basically, when in the scripture that will be elect, you’re saying to me that the elect are those who choose to believe and that God has extended that to every man and every woman on the planet.
Is that not true? Absolutely. Let me give you a great verse. This is one of many we can turn to. But 2 Thessalonians chapter 2, many people quote this verse to support MacArthur’s side of the Calvinist position, but they don’t read it far enough. They can stop in the middle of the verse. It says, we are bound to give thanks. 2 Thessalonians 2, 13. We are bound to give thanks, always to God for you, brethren, beloved of the Lord, because God has from the beginning chosen you to salvation.
They stop right there. But if you read the rest of the the verse, it’s twofold through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth. Our part to believe the truth, trust Christ. God’s part, the Holy Spirit makes us pure and holy because of the blood of Christ that we shed at the cross. So when God chooses to save, He chooses us on the basis of belief of the truth. And when we believe the truth, then His Holy Spirit makes us pure and holy in His sight and we are cleansed by the blood of Christ sanctified and made a child of God.
But they don’t point that part out. It is a condition upon our belief. It is a condition upon our trust in Christ, even as it is in John 3 16, who, soever, believe it in Christ should not perish. But everlasting life, so you see the election there, God has chosen to save those that would believe, but if you do not believe, you will perish and you will not have everlasting life. So he’s also determined the opposing position that if you do not believe in Christ, he’ll be forever lost.
I am so thrilled, Aria, because I’ve got to be brutally honest with you, Dr. Wainström. When I heard that, it is not because I’m just thinking to myself, well, I believe in God and the sacrifice he made on the cross for me and for the rest of the, you know, and every man, woman, and child on the planet. But then I started thinking to myself, well, just because I choose to believe it, I’m not want to God’s chosen people, it’s irrelevant.
I got to be honest with you, it’s freaking me out. Everything else I heard. Well, I can agree. In fact, if I believe that way, I would stop witnessing. I would probably just not do anything because what you’re saying is that we don’t have any choices and whatever will be, we might as well just be consigned to accept whatever happens that our life is just all predetermined by God. That’s not the case at all. He gives us choice. choice.
That’s my belief, is that God has given us free will. We can choose a belief, but we also have to like everything else and have knowledge. I feel better. I feel about it. Okay. Welcome to Bibleline good morning. Okay. I have two quick questions. One. Am I correct in assuming that women are not to be preachers? Am I right there or no? Well women are not to be preachers, that’s exactly right. And if you read 1 Timothy chapter 2 verses 11 through 15, it tells us that women are to be silent in the churches and it says I suffer or allow not women to teach or nor do these are the authority over the men.
And then it gives us two good reasons. Number one, Adam was the first created, not woman. So God has always placed that spiritual leadership responsibility upon men and not upon the women. He could have chosen 12 women apostles, but he chose 12 men. And throughout the Bible it was always the men that he chose. Also it says there that Adam was not deceived, but Eve it was deceived. So it, men and women don’t think the same way, and women think more emotionally, men think more factually, and so women are more easily deceived in spiritual matters.
And that’s another reason why women should not be pastors. I don’t really know of a sound woman teacher out there, and they all fall into that trap of being led by their emotions. Several cults have been started by women. They just said, I can’t believe in a God that would send anybody to hell. So LMG White said there’s no help. She started the seven-ant business. Mary Baker, Eddie, I just can’t believe it. A man would send somebody to a hell.
And so Mary Baker said there is no hell. And in her book, The Key to Science and Health and Scriptures, she denies hell and tells you what verses in the Bible you can’t believe and what verses she rejects as not being truth. But they are error. And of course, this goes on and on. And it still continues where men are more apt to follow what God says as being true and sick with it than women are. Can I ask you one quick one on angels?
Sure, angels. Okay, now on the book Billy Graham Angels? Yes. Remember I read it many years ago. Now you say that, you don’t see angels, okay. I remember this one story and it really stuck out. It was a missionary in a little fort there or whatever. And it was surrounded by natives. And all of a sudden they dispersed all the native… All the natives took off. And years later the chief of the natives came to know Christ. And so the missionary asked him, he said, why that night didn’t you attack?
You had us? He says, what do you mean, why didn’t we attack? Your home was surrounded by these angels. And so am I to assume like just like sort of speak the bad guys? uh… angels are protecting you they seem but we don’t i’d i really don’t buy into that and i don’t know what i don’t okay you know i i really uh… uh… don’t expect to see an angel in my lifetime and and there are only several times in the bible when angels appear very sparsely and only on special occasions the gabry appears only to deliver message concerning christ to key players in the coming, he announces the Daniel that wonderful vision that tells about the two comings of Christ and the exact year that Christ would come to the very day and die on the cross of Calvary.
He announces to Mary that she is pregnant and Joseph gets the message that Mary is pregnant not by another man but by the Holy Spirit and so on. So we don’t really see lots of times when angels appear in the Bible and I don’t expect that we are going to be seeing them. I think they’re present. I think they’re around us. I think they watch over us. I think we’re protected by angels. But I don’t know that I buy and all that.
But certainly God can protect somebody in time of need and maybe it did happen. Okay. Well, thank you. I just want to get your take on that. All right. Okay. Thank you Lloyd in Clearwater, Florida. We’ve been getting a flood of calls here and time is just rolling by. And let me take it off here. Question here. David in St. Pete says, are we trusting in the work of the cleansing of the temple to save us from many problems?
I really don’t know what you mean by that, but I’m certainly not. And I don’t even know what the cleansing of the temple means. The temple doesn’t exist anymore, the one in Jerusalem. If you’re talking about the one in heaven, there’s no cleansing going on there. And I don’t know how there’s a connection between that and many problems. I’ll just let that one go. We’ll try to catch more. We have no more time, although we have more people waiting to get on the line here.
We’re just going to have to end it up again. Bibleline is listeners supported. If you could give us a call, maybe tell us you’re praying for us. We would appreciate that so much, but if you could give a gift, you could give one by credit card over the phone. We could use your help. We are listening supported, and the only way we can stay on the air is to count on our listeners to help us out. And no gift is too small, but if you could give a generous gift to Bibleline to help us out this month, that would be really great.
We find that we are stretching ourselves way out there to reach as many people with the Bible as we possibly can. And we believe the time is running out. The Christ is coming back soon. And would you like to make an investment in eternity by giving the Bible on? I believe you will share in the rewards that we will have as well for getting this message of Christ and the Bible out to people. We have to run, but we will be back tomorrow, Lord willing, and this is Wednesday and keep Look it up.
Jesus is coming. You’re welcome always to drop by and say hi, and we hope that you’ll be listening tomorrow morning when we come back here Live at 10 o’clock Eastern time. Have a great day. Be sure to tune in for another edition of Bibleline from Calvary Community Church of Tampa, Florida. Well, I’m Dr. Hank Lindstrom and we had fun being with you today. I hope you feel the same way about Bibleline. I enjoy bringing the program to you and we really operate with just volunteers. It’s amazing that we’re able to do as much as we’re able to do because we do it on such a shoestring budget. And we just, you know, just kind of day by day, say, God, we need your help.
And, you know, so far he’s been taking care of us through people just like you who say, I want to be a part of this. I want to see Bibleline successful. I want to see it continue. And if it’s been a blessing to you, would you give to help Bibleline out? Really according to Bible, you give where you’re being fed, where you’re being blessed. And if you haven’t given the Bible on would you consider doing that? We’re really trying to get the message out.
I don’t get a salary nor does any of our volunteers. They all come in here because they love the Lord and they just do a bang up job to make it possible for us to bring this program to you. Please, when you pray, thank God for the volunteers that helped me here and for those who are willing to give up their time to see that this program makes its way to you. wherever you might be listening, because I’ll tell you, it’s a team effort.
And you’re a part of the team as a listener. You can be a part of the team by helping us with the financial end, because we have to pay for the satellite time. We have to pay for the digital phone lines that take us to Detroit where we go up on the satellite. We have to pay for air time. We have to pay for sometimes when equipment breaks buying equipment to keep this program going. So many things, telephone bills, our long distance bill is terrible.
I wish we had free long distance, but we don’t. We try to get the best prices we can and try to be able to reach out as far as we can. And we do the best job we can, but we could use your help where we can’t help ourselves. We need your help in the area of finances. Would you consider? Call us 1-800-5-767-71. Give a gift by credit card or they’ll tell you how you can mail a gift into us.
God bless. Have a great day. We’ll be back tomorrow. Keep looking up. You’ve been listening to Bibleline, the presentation of Bibleline Ministries of Tampa, Florida.
