We’re on WITS, 15, I think 50 on the Am now and we look forward to hearing from you folks up there. from our Jacksonville station, but forward to hearing from you that are listening there. Of course, we always get lots of calls from the station out of Delanne, Florida, and many other areas where we’re on the year. We hope we’ll hear from people in Memphis today and Nashville and also Chattanooga. We just want to hear from you wherever you’re listening.
Of course, in the Tampa Bay area, we always love to hear from you folks as well. We’re living in an exciting time. These are days of opportunity as far as witnessing to the lost. You know the things in this world are causing people to question and to look at what’s really going on here and as a result it gives us opportunity to bring the answer to the lost. I think that’s one of the reasons why the cults are growing so quickly today and that And as the cults are out there witnessing, of course with the wrong message, but people today are really right because they’re confused about where this world is going and they want answers.
And unfortunately the cults have the wrong answers but they’re being listened to and the cults are growing at an alarming rate. And that’s what Jesus said in Matthew 24 about the last days. He said, Be not deceived, for there will be many that will come in my name and deceive many. Well, we have lots of that happening today. And I believe the meaning of that passage is that there are those who come and claim to be Christian and yet are not, and they deceive many.
The Dohls’ weather is claimed to be Christian. I had a fellow yesterday tell me that they approached him and said, we’re the Jehovah’s Witness Christian church. And obviously they deny the deity of Christ. So they really are Christian and they deny the basic tenets of Christianity and therefore they’re not Christian. You know, the witnesses don’t believe in hell. They don’t believe in the Trinity. They don’t believe in the deity of Christ nor the Holy Spirit. They don’t believe in salvation by faith.
and we could go on and on and on. But yet these groups are claiming that they’re Christians and what’s happening, people are being deceived by that. And that’s why it’s important to be in your Bible to see what it has to say and be able to say, this is right or this is wrong based on what the Bible says. The test is always the scripture. It says in Isaiah 8 20, if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.
That’s a great verse. Write it down someplace. Isaiah 8 20, if they speak not according to this word, that is the word of God. It is because there is no light in them. And the Bible tells us, of course, that we are to avoid them and not to join them. So if we are invited to study with some of these groups, we should say, sorry, I can’t sit down and study with you because their doctrines are wrong. You don’t want to do that.
You know, the Bible is such a wonderful book. It tells us that you can right now know beyond the shadow of a noun that you’re going to go to heaven if you have trusted Christ’s Savior. One of the things that is unique about those who do not have the truth, those that might be different denominations or organizations, many of them really cannot tell them out right on this question. That is, can you be certain right now of going to heaven?
And they generally will say, no, you cannot know. The test of a true believer is that the true believer ought to be able to say, I know I’m saved. I know I have eternal life. I know I’m going to heaven. And it’s because of what Christ did for me at the cross. It was His death in shed blood that purchased my salvation. Let me give you a great verse. This is called what I call, anyway, the written guarantee. It says, these things in 1 John 5, 13, these things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God, that is the Lord Jesus Christ.
It says it’s written to those that believe on Christ that you may know that is K-N-O-W, not hope, not guess, not perhaps, not maybe, but you can K-N-O-W know that you have, H-A-V-E, a present tense verb that means you possess right now at this very instant if you are a believer, eternal life. So in that wonderful verse, God says it in writing. That’s a great guarantee, isn’t it? A written guarantee. Just go back every time you doubt and take a look at that verse.
These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God that you may know that you, H-A-V-E, have eternal life. I know I have eternal life and I saw that verse early on the night I trusted Christ. You know, I walked out of there that night knowing I was going to heaven and nothing could shake that because I knew that God had said it. God said these things have I written into you. Let me quote Jesus for a moment.
In John 637, Jesus says, Him that cometh to me, I will in no wise cast out. All the cults teach you can lose your salvation and many mainstream churches believe you You can lose your salvation, but apparently they’re not paying attention to the Bible. The Bible says, and this is Jesus now we’re quoting in John 637, he says, Him that cometh to me, I will in no wise. That means under no circumstances will I ever cast out someone who comes to me.
So if you have come to Christ, Jesus makes a promise that he will under no circumstances ever cast you out. Isn’t that great? Well you say, well what if I do this? Or what if I do that? Or what if I do the other thing? He says I wanted no one cast out anyone who has trusted Jesus as Savior. Well there’s always that clever person who tries to figure away a loophole and I’ve had people say well okay okay I got it I got it he won’t cast me out.
But I can cast myself out. Well, guess what? You can’t even do that. It says in John 639, this is a gem of a verse. Jesus said, and he’s the one that’s quoted here, and it’s in red if you have a red letter edition of the Bible where the words of Christ are in red. And it says in John 639, this is the Father’s will. You can’t go any higher in authority on the chain of command and then to go to the Father.
This is the Father’s will. fathers will Jesus says that of all of which have given me I should lose none N O N E none but raise them up again at the last day wow and then incredible he’s saying he’s not gonna lose one he’s gonna lose none you know if he said in that passage he was gonna lose one person all of my life I’d have to worry maybe be happy, I’m the one he’s going to lose. Oh no, I hope not.
Well, he doesn’t say he’s going to lose one. He says he’s going to lose none. So therefore I can relax. I’m never going to be cast out. And I’ll never be lost because Christ is keeping me saved and it’s the Father’s will. He promises in John 639 that he would not lose me, not one person. Think about it. If one person, null of history, were ever lost once they became saved. Christ be a liar. Think about all the churches that teach you can lose your salvation.
The majority teach you can lose it because they are basing their salvation on works, which is totally wrong. So obviously they are not paying attention to the Bible. The Bible says that when you come to Christ he will not cast you out for any reason and secondly he said he would not lose one person, not one person that has come to him. Not exciting. I’m safe forever. I have eternal life. I trusted Christ as a teen at 18. And just upon my graduation from my school, I got saved.
And you know, I knew right from the get-go that I had eternal life and I’ve never ever lost sight of that because the Bible says it. And I can go back to those verses and I can read them for myself and I can share them with you. These are great verses. You ought to write these somewhere prominent, maybe on your refrigerator. You may not want to write it right on the refrigerator door, but maybe a piece of paper with some magnets, but I would put this one up there, John 637.
That’s a verse that I would say is worthy of being on your refrigerator. It’s on 639. Write it up there real big. Put it right on your refrigerator. Take a look at that every day. Be reminded that Christ will never cast you out, he will never lose you. Then put that wonderful verse, 1 John 5, 13, that says in writing itWikipedia, that he has written this to you that believe on the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life.
My friend, are you going to go to heaven when you die. If you are hesitant, if you’re saying I think so, or I guess so, or I’m working at it, then you’re probably not saved. Because you see, the genuine believer ought to be able to say, I know I’m going to heaven. And if you don’t, and guess what? It’s a real telltale sign. If you’re trying to check out whether somebody saved it or not, ask a cult remember when they come to your door.
Could you say right now at this moment that if you were to die you’d go to heaven, they’re all going to say no. And can you lose your salvation? They’re all going to say yes. And if you hear anybody saying that, you can know their doctrine is wrong. Because what are they saying? That they don’t know yet because their life isn’t over and it’s really their works that are going to save them if they’re going to be saved at all.
And they’re hoping that they do a good job so that they can earn their way in to get into heaven one day. That’s a false message that most people have embraced, unfortunately. The devil has done a great job in getting the wrong message out there and people have bought it. My friend, go back to the Bible and see what it says and you’ll find that it’s right on target. I’m Dr. Englund from Mrs. Bible and we’re going to go to Harold.
He is in Chester, Virginia and Harold, welcome to Bibleline Harold in Chester, Virginia. on the earth. Harold, are you there? Hello, Harold. I think Harold has walked away from his radio. He’ll have to call back and we’ll try to get him. Saul in Bradenton, Florida, leaves this off your question. Let’s go back and take a look at it. It’s Jeremiah, chapter 6, verse 16 and 17. And Gerema in 16 says, Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways and see, And ask for the old paths, Where is the good way, And walk therein, And ye shall find rest for your souls.
But they said we will not walk through it. This is a great verse and it’s saying that new is not better. We have a Christianity today where they’re changing up things all the time. The planet’s salvation is being reinvented and Christianity is getting a new face and it’s unfortunate because we need to go back and see what the Bible has to say. So if you want to see… see the old ways that are established forever. It says in Psalm 1, 1989, thy word, O Lord, is settled in heaven forever.
It’s never going to change. So if you’re looking for something new, it’s different that what God has already said thousands of years ago, you’re getting yourself into trouble because God is not going to change his mind. God is not going to change the plan of salvation. And so we need to look for the old ways. What did God say? Everybody who’s ever been saved has been saved the same way. Abraham was saved by faith, what part from works? Adam was saved by faith, apart from works.
And if you look at Hebrews chapter 11, the so-called Hall of Fame chapter, the big heroes of the Bible that says, by faith, by faith, by faith, by faith, by faith, by faith, by faith, by faith. Let’s go back to the old ways. That’s a great verse, Saul in Braden to Florida. Thank you for calling Dr. Lindstrom, I’ve got a couple questions for you. First one is, after the rapture takes place, the people that are left behind, the people that are left to evangelize, I know I understand that when during tribulations God’s hands going to be lifted off of the earth.
will he provide protection for these people that are left to evangelize? All right, what happens is that every believer is raptured out and those that are left behind are all unsaved. But right up front, God will send back two witnesses from the Old Testament, I believe they’re Moses and Elijah. And through their evangelism, they’ll lead 144,000 Jewish men to Christ who will be the prime evangelist. And through their witness in Revelation 7 verse 9 it says, I saw a great multitude which no man could number.
Of all nations in kindreds and tongues, these are people who get saved as a result of 140,000. Now guess what? All 145,000 of these prime witnesses are martyred by halfway through the tribulation period. So they’re all killed. And it tells us that many Christians will be beheaded for their witness for their faith. And so there’s really not any special protection and God is going to obviously reward them greatly for their being willing to give their lives for the cause of presenting the gospel.
But they’re all going to be or at least all hundred forty thousand and many genuine believers will be martyred in the tribulation period. That one. My other question is does Kepalas and Dany believe in the resurrection? Yeah, they believe in the death, barrel and resurrection of Christ. But basically the Roman Catholic Church teaches that Christ death paid for original sin or Adam’s sin. And that you and I are on our own and that we have to, through the sacraments and through the Church, earn our salvation.
So it sounds good on one hand, but it’s a neat trick of the devil to just say, well, what Christ did just took care of Adam. He took care of everyone in the human race. I love 1 John 2, 2, where it says Christ is the propitiation. That means a satisfying sacrifice for our sins. And then it says not for our sins only, but also for the sins of the whole world. So Christ died for everybody. And he died for Adam’s sin.
Interesting, your name is Adam, so you’re clear. but he died to pay for the else as well thank you so much doctor for that i think you adam and then for calorano and we’re now found heraldies back in the chest of virginia and heralda thank you for calling today you’re on the air hey how you doing that election hey man oh you’ve got a blessing to me i want to agree with a pain which you’ve been a blessing to me make me see concerned i got a question for you Oh, right.
Because y’all, you had me go out and get where these school field battles, where those school field battles. And I was in church and happened to go through something I saw something I had a little problem with. Well, I believe it’s the brother of Jesus, a half-brother. Christ had half-brothers. There were at least six natural children born to Mary and Joseph. Those four boys, and they’re mentioned in Mark’s Gospel, Chapter 6, one of them I think is the author of James.
That’s exactly what I call it, in the Schoephear Bible, in the top top portion where they tell what’s was this book is about they refer to this James as the James is a disciple well what can I say and the next I need to know I mean what our friend we had a big discussion other day about baptism and I was let it know that we didn’t have to be water baptized and she went to description acts and then went to one and Peter and Jim Bali.
But I’m like, I read in John and I read in Romans that we should just believe in our heart that Jesus Christ is Savior and within will save. And the water baptism is purely of Jim Bali. All right. Thank you for calling in Harold and Chester Virginia. Water baptism is a way of giving testimony to the cleansing of our sin that occurs by the shed blood of Jesus Christ. doesn’t say we just had a beautiful baptism in a lake yesterday we’ve had a whole bunch of people and obviously none of them were counting on that baptism to save them they all came knowing they were saved and wanted to testify that their sins were washed away by the blood of Jesus.
There is no verse that teaches water baptism will save and the Bible is quite clear that only the blood of Christ could wash away your sin. I don’t know which particular verse that they brought up to you, but usually it’s Acts 2.38 and it says repent and be baptized. But if you notice it says be baptized in the name. I think this is not talking about water, but it’s talking about a cleansing or washing. You see the word baptized means from the Greek to cleanser to wash and it’s a cleansing were washing in the name or in the authority of Christ’s name that he gave authority as God and flesh, the one who actually died to pay for your sins to grant salvation to all that we believe on him.
So that’s really the pen of salvation everywhere. And as you said, when you believe that Jesus died, that means the trust that he died for you and shed his blood to pay for your sins, God saves you at the moment you get you trust him as your savior. We are now going to go to Armando in St. Petersburg Armando. Welcome to the Bible. Good morning, Dr. Linso, how are you? I’m good and fine. Good morning. Good morning. Can you explain that spirit?
Believe that’s one of the favorite of the people that believe in election. It is true. I would like to hear your point because I have my idea where I would like to hear you too. Okay, we’ll do that. It’s X1348 and it says here in the King James. And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and glorified the word of the Lord. And as many as were ordained to eternal life believed, and boy, they love to use this one.
But what is interesting here is that the word ordained here doesn’t say preordained. And in fact, this word is used in the New Testament to talk about a determination at the point of in time when the event is taking place. Let me give you an example. In Acts 15, if you go over to verse 2, it says, when therefore Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and disputation with them, they had a big argument here. It says they determined that Paul and Barnabas and certain other of them should go up to Jerusalem under the apostles and elders about this question.
Well, the word they determined, notice, is the same in the Greek as ordained in Acts 1348. So notice it wasn’t preordained before the foundation of the earth that Paul would go up to Jerusalem with certain others. But this was something that was determined by those people right there on the spot because there was this argument. They determined that they should go and you could translate it ordained if you want. ordain that they should go. That’s what it means. So it’s not something as preordain by God.
It probably should read better this way. As many as were determined, let’s take that word from chapter 15 verse 2, the same word in the Greek, and let’s put the word determined in there. It says as many as were determined to have eternal life believed. So it was a determination on their part to be saved. And so to be saved you have to believe or trust Christ and that’s exactly what they did. Armando, I hope that helps. And this thing about election really throws a lot of people off.
But deal Moody said it is simply as a I’ll ever be able to hear it, I’m sure. He said the Whosoever wills are the elect, the Whosoever won’ts are the non-elect. I’m Dr. Englunds from Mrs. Bible and we’re coming up on our break. Again, I want you to know that we’ll be here all week long for you and on the Internet 24-7. If you want to help Bible and this will be a good time to do it as we roll through the last week or so of October and you can send a gift to Bible and if you would by mail or you can do it by credit card over the phone.
We’re less than supported and without your help we cannot be on the air. And some areas are new and they’re not self-supporting and we really need some of our faithful areas to help us get through those days where we’re trying to reach a new audience that will maybe decide to help my blind stay on the air in their areas. But we would love to have you help us here today. If you would call you can give a gift by credit card over the phone or you can call and ask for an envelope to be sent with our address on it and mail you a gift in.
In any case, God bless you. Thank you in advance for praying for Bible and helping Bible and we’re going to take a short break. We’re going to come right back. We’ll do another half hour and I hope you’ll join us for the second half hour of Bible and so keep your editor down to right where it is and hold on tight. Don’t go away and we’ll be right back for a second half hour program of Bible and we’ll be right back.
Boy, Bibleline will be back in a moment. Give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. All right, I’m back for that little break theory, and I want to just take a little bit of time to say hi. We’re located in Tampa, Florida. That is, Bibleline is located in Tampa, Florida. And we’d love to have you come by and visit with us sometime. Do you ever come into Florida if you live outside of Florida, please? Or even if you live in Florida, but at a great distance, try to come by sometime if you’re ever on the west coast of Florida.
Stop in. We had a fellow yesterday from Fort Lauderdale, and he was in business in the area, and he says, I’m going to stop by and see Bibleline and Dr. Englund’s room. So we love to see this happen. We have people coming in here from time to time from other places out of state and they come by during the week and knock on the door and they come by on a worship day and we always are delighted to meet people who are listening to Bibleline.
You of course are welcome when you come and we’re easy to find because we’re right next to the Tampa International Airport. We’re just a block west of the main north-south runway. So if you ever come and look for us, don’t get more than about a block away from the airport or you could know you’re making a mistake. Call us and we’ll guide you in. If you go to the internet, we have a page on our website, BibleLineMinistries.org, called How to Find This.
And it already has MapQuest all plugged in and you just type your address and hit go and it’ll tell you exactly how to find this. And I hope you will. We’d love to have you. Also, again, we’re listeners supported. And if you want to help Bibleline as we close out October here, not too far off, we could use your help to make sure that our stations are all on the air and without your gift we could not do it.
And this would be a real good time. We are running a little short and we could use your help to make sure that we are able to stay on the air. Would you help us? That would be great. We need your help this week if you could and you can do that by credit card or by mail and we want to thank in advance for your participation, your being a partner with us here at ByBlind. I hope that you’re enjoying the programs and I hope you’ll enjoy all the things we have on our website by thelineministries.org.
You can catch our sermons, you can catch our TV programs, you can catch our radio programs, and so much, much more, our online bookstores, there so much that you’ll find will be really helpful to you. And I hope you’ll take advantage of all that. That’s on the web at Bible If you haven’t trusted the Lord, you need to trust Him and Him alone to get yourself into heaven. We’re going to now join stations that have been on break and do the second half hour of Bibleline.
So keep your radio right where it is and here we go. A second half hour of Bibleline. Would you like to call Bibleline and ask Dr. Lindstrom a question? You can. Just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3771. 11-1, that’s 1-800-576-3771. Now here again is Dr. Hank Lindstrom. Alright, we’re back from that break and this is my mind. It’s great to be with you again today. And we’re here Monday through Friday, live out of Tampa, Florida from our studios here at the Calvary Community Church in Tampa, Florida.
We had a wonderful day yesterday. People getting saved. We had a great dinner. Our youth program wouldn’t create. We had a wonderful baptism in a lake yesterday afternoon. Everything was really super and we praise the Lord for the good day we had. We hope you had a great day wherever you worship. I hope you’ve found a good solid Bible teaching church. We hope the Bibleline is helping you grow and helping you stay on target with the Bible and to really have clarification of doctrine because we know that today is a day that the Bible has predicted where there would not be sound doctrine and we see that really just sweeping everywhere where sound doctrine seems to be just fleeting away.
And this has been happening over a period of time but it’s getting worse by the day. Really is not getting better. And I think that’s a sign that Jesus returned his neared hand. No doubt about it. And again, thank you for praying for us, thank you for giving. We need your help to finish out this month on top. So if you could give a gift to Bibleline, that would be appreciated. We’re not trying to get you to give if you don’t want to give or you can’t give.
That’s just pray for us. But if you could give a gift, if you could give a generous gift, that would be helpful to keep us going here, keeping us on the air in all of our areas. We’re excited about where God is taking this program. We had our webcast yesterday of our Sunday service and not only did we have people all over the country watching the live webcast of our worship service We had a Family in Sweden that now are watching Apparently not two weeks in a row and and that’s exciting, you know, and during the week Of course we have many that that find our worship service and sitting in our car We have 50 sermons.
50 Sundays are now sitting there, and you can watch the service and listen to the audio and get that Bible teaching right here on the website. I hope you’ll do that. We’re excited about you and excited about your interest in the program. We have people coming by all week long to visit our resource center. And many of them tell us we listen every day. And many of them tell me they’ve never called a program in that interesting. So never called, but yet they listen and they tell me how much Bibleline is meant to them.
Thank God that Bibleline is having an impact and if you are enjoying Bibleline, let us know. Give us a call sometime and just say, hey, I listen, tell us the city and that you’re enjoying the program or you can even do that on the year. That would be fine. Our phone number here is 1-800-576-3771, 1-800-576-3771. We have lots of wonderful resources in our Resource Center. We have a book by John Walbert and he’s a favorite of mine. He was the Chancellor of the President of Dallas Logical Seminary for many years.
He’s with the Lord in Heaven now. But he wrote a book called Every Every Prophecy of the Bible. That is a gem and we have it for a gift of $20. If you’re concerned about all these new fangled translations out there, we’ve got one called New Age Bible Versions that covers fairly thoroughly about 20 of the modern translations, most likely one that you have there in your home. You’ll want to be alert to what’s going on. That’s about 800 pages, again, for a gift of about $20 and we’ll ship that out to We also have the Schilfield Bibles.
When you go to the bookstore, they’re going to try to say you have the new high-bred 3. Scofield. Don’t get that one because the notes are watered down and it says it’s not anywhere near as good as the first second edition, the 1909 and the 1917. They’re getting harder to get, but we have them here at our Resource Center and you might want to get yourself a Scofield Bible. Many people tell us immediately they notice a difference in their understanding of scripture.
Because they have the notes to fall back on in any case God bless all of you who listen We praise the Lord for you and thank you for your prayers for us And we are totally dependent upon you as we depend upon the Lord to raise People like you up that will be partners with us to keep my blind on the air We’re going to the phone lines again now and the numbers 1-800-576-3771 and we have George and he is in plant city and George welcome to Bibleline you’re on the earth thank you He just wanted to talk to you about the ones saved.
I always say that’s something that I have personally researched and I can argue as well for as I can against it. But you just know how to convince me of it. How do you explain Hebrews chapter six? I can’t remember exactly where it’s located. 4-6, yeah, I’m 30. very familiar with it and it’s talking there to believers it says in verse four it’s impossible for those who are once enlightened and it lists five things that makes it is the mark of a genuine believer and it says that if you fall away which is not falling away from salvation which is impossible but falling away from your confidence or from serving the Lord from your steadfastness.
And if you do that, it’s impossible. It says to renew you unto repentance. What it’s saying is you can’t go back and become saved again. And it says if you do go back and try to do that and become saved again, it says that you crucified Jesus Christ again afresh to yourself. Obviously, he’s never going to die again, but you crucified unto yourself again and put to an open chain. This is blasphemous. It really says that you don’t believe that Christ one time death was sufficient to save you eternally.
So if you go back and try to become saved again, you’re saying, I guess I need to crucify Him all over again and start from scratch. Well, that’s not true. What you need to do is start serving. And you’ll notice verse 9, he’s talking about things that accompany salvation. Verse 10, it tells us that God is not unrighteous to forget your labor of love. He’s going to reward every deed that you do for Christ. So if you stop serving, if you’ve fallen away from serving the Lord, get serving again, get going.
Because you don’t want to lose that on the reward and God is not going to forget anything you’ve done. He’ll reward it in heaven and you’re going to be glad one day when you see that happen. So hopefully that helps answer the question. That’s a brief answer, but I have a more lengthy one on my website. If you go to Dr. Lynchland’s articles on the homepage in the bottom of my hand corner, click on there and then I have an article that I’ve written called Hebrews 6, 4th or 6th and you’ll have it all there.
Thank you, George. We’re now going to go to Laura and Laura is in the land Florida and Laura welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Yes, sir. Laura, do you have a question? Yes, sir. No, I just want would like for you to clarify for me that I have been hearing the discussions about baptism. Now, I am legally blind and 80 years old and also physically handicapped. So it’s very difficult for me to, I can no longer read the Bible because of my eyesight.
Bye bye. But I read many, quite a few years, he met a group of men that were coming. So he has alluded them and asked them, have you been baptized in the Holy Spirit? And they say, why have we never even heard of the Holy Spirit? So he… So he asked him, in what then? And then they said we were baptized in the baptism of John, called in John baptized at the baptism of repentance.
The Lord Jesus Christ is baptized in the Spirit. Okay. Well, that’s in Acts chapter 19. And what happened here is that he discovered that these people that he was talking to here, these men that he met as he came to the upper coast and he came to Ephesus, he found certain disciples and he says, have you received the Holy Spirit since you believe? Now, the word sense is that’s an improper translation. Translation it should read and if you have a scofield Bible it would say and of course you’re not able to read nowadays But it should read when in other words Paul asked a great question Did you see the Holy Spirit when you believe then the answer was they didn’t even know anything about the Holy Spirit?
Well the obviously they were not safe So he then goes back and asked them about their baptism and John about this Here’s one of the clearest presentations of what John did he baptized with water, which was a baptism about the change of mind, repentance means a change of mind, that they should believe on Christ who would come after him. So in other words that they would trust Christ, but apparently they had not yet done so. So here we find it’s at this moment that they get saved and they do receive the Holy Spirit, their baptized and the Holy Spirit right there on the spot.
But this is not talking about water and we sure to thank you for that call and hopefully that will help you with the answer there. We now have Jonathan and Jonathan is in Richmond, Virginia. Jonathan, welcome to by one. Thanks to Kate McCall. I have a quick question about Tyler. I see a lot of people in Tyler and Melacost believe I felt that Tyler was of the law and Jesus is a fulfillment of the law. So we live under this giving.
So I wish you could elaborate with me if you have any scripture that can help that. I’m going to hang up in it. Right, and Malachi is all about the Old Testament law and the giving into the storehouse which they like to use to make sure you give all your giving to that particular church that you attend. It was really not the church is talking about the government of Israel in those days. It was almost like an income tax that they were required to give.
The New Testament giving is a giving from the heart, an expression of our love and being thankful to God for what He’s done for us. And I think two of the great chapters in the New Testament are 2 Corinthians 8 and 2 Corinthians 9. Both of these chapters teach us that everybody has an obligation to give, not to be saved, that as an expression of our love and gratitude and following Christ’s example. For example, it says in 2 Corinthians 8 in verse 8 that they’re giving proved the sincerity of their love for the Lord.
So if you love the Lord, you’ll want to give to Him. Then it says in verse 9, for you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 Corinthians 8.9, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that you through his poverty might be rich. So here we have the greatest example of giving period. Jesus, who is God, who took on human flesh, left Heaven’s glory, and he took on a human body. He went to the cross and he experienced the rejection and the humility and the fact that he was despised and rejected and the pain that he endured as he suffered crucifixion to die for you and me.
Through his poverty, we become rich through his gift to us. The gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ. He is the example of somebody who gave everything. give his life for us. So obviously if we love him we’ll want to give back to him. Then of course in 2 Corinthians chapter 9 a whole section here on giving where it says in verse 7, every man according as he purposeth in his heart. So here you make a deliberate choice as to how much you’re going to give the Lord.
It says here every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give, not grudgingly. The War of Necessity, but God loves a hilarious or a cheerful giver. So God wants us to give him the heart and as an expression of our love and these are great, great chapters to look at. Thank you for calling in Jonathan in Richmond, Virginia. We now have Raymond down in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Raymond, welcome to Bibleline from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Raymond, you’re on the air.
Yes, I’m here. Good. All right, you have a question, you’re on the air. Live. Oh, I’m sorry. I would like to find out, I know that at one time you were on the radio here in Fort Lauderdale area. I’d like to know if the program has returned. I was away for a while. We’re not on the air yet, but we are exploring another station down there that we just learned about this weekend. So you’re getting us now on the Internet or you’re not at all.
How are you getting us? Okay, I don’t have a computer. Okay, well I’m glad you called and thank you for thinking about us. We are on television every Tuesday night down there on I think channel 13 at 8.30 in the evening and we’re on the internet of course everywhere in the world 24.7 but we’re looking at a station and possibly we’ll be back on the air down there just keep in touch with us and we’ll try to let you know Raymond.
Very good and that’s what you tonight at what time? I think it’s 8.30 on Channel 62 at a West Palm Beach. It’s on cable, I think Channel 13, throughout that whole area. Okay, very good. And I’d like to find out how do I go about to make an order for a… Alright, let me give you over to my operators and go ahead and take your call and they’ll take your order. Okay, that was Raymond in Fort Lauderdale. We have now Sam in Lakeland, Florida.
And Sam, welcome to Bibleline You’re on the air. the area. How you doing there? I enjoy your approval. I hear a lot of people call in and believe in the salvation of everything and the way I was understanding where I want to come in. The way I understand where he says it must be born again to be saved. So if you got to be born again, you want to be born twice to come to what you use. The first time you’re born for your mother and you’re born a boy and you’re born a girl and you can’t change that.
So the second time you’re born, you’re born a Christian and you can’t change it because you can’t be on bone. So the question was this company, what I’m saying, when he said that a person that sends it, she’ll adopt with a mind understanding, a person’s bone, he’s born a semis. So he’s split the data already. So it can’t be to my hand. The way I understand it, by hand you tell me where that’s right or wrong. And when you get saved, you can’t die.
So you can’t be to my dad because you don’t die. So the only thing to my understanding that he’s not going to show it die is the flesh. They call it the flesh that it’s seen if you wouldn’t excuse, go and see it. Right. Well as I was talking about physical death, Sam, and that’s exactly right. You’re really reasoning it through very, very, very well. And because of sin, we’re all going to die, period. If you live 70, 80, 90, 100 years, you’re going to die.
Your flesh will die. And that’s through of all of this. And we’ve all have sinned, and it all comes short of the glory of God. But then, of course, we can’t die once we are born again, as far as eternity is concerned. We’ll never experience hell. But it’s only talking about the flesh. And sometimes your death can be speeded up by sin. somebody is deliberately woefully sinning against God. God can take them home to have it early. So you’re right on and that’s right on target, Sam.
Thank you so much for that call. And now we have, let’s see here, several offer questions. Joe in Pimbroke, Pines, Florida, that’s down near Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, Florida. It says the Jehovah’s Witnesses and the Seventh Adventist, try to say Jesus died to give us the opportunity to be saved with works. This I know is heresy, but please explain the fallacy in this for newer believers. Well, Joe, you’re absolutely right. That’s somewhat similar to what we said earlier about Christ dying for Adam’s sin, and then you have an opportunity to work your way into heaven.
The cults all do the same thing. They can’t explain away Christ, they’re totally just right or off. So they say it plays a role, but ultimately you’re saved by your works. I’d just recommend for people to read Ephesians 2, 8, and 9, where it says, By grace, by mercy, on merit and favor, are you saved through faith? And that faith is of course in Christ. And it’s none of yourself. is the gift of God and Ephesians 2 9 says salvation is not of works, lest any man should boast or brag.
So obviously salvation is not of works whenever somebody is… He is talking about works for salvation. That’s false doctrine. Salvation is not of works. The only salvation the Bible teaches is that that is by grace and by mercy. Everybody who’s ever been saved has been saved that way. Nobody has ever been saved by the commandments or by baptism, by church membership or by any of those things. So thank you, Joe, and Pembert Pines for sending us that question. Andy, in Tampa, Florida, calls in.
then leaves this off their question. He says, a preacher once said that when Jesus died, he went to hell to take those that died before him to heaven is that biblical. And of course that is not true as it stated. Christ did go down into the heart of the earth. And of course that’s where the dying thief that believed also met him. And that was where paradise was. So he didn’t go to hell, but Christ went into Hades, and in Hades there were two places, a place of torment and a place of comfort.
Now if you want to read about that place, you look at Luke 16, beginning at verse 19 to the end of the chapter, it talks about too man who died, a rich man who is an unbeliever, and he goes to flame and torment in the heart of the earth and Hades, and then you have a beggar named Lazarus who dies, and he goes to paradise or a place of comfort in the heart of the earth. Now, when Christ died, he went down there also, the dying thief met him there, and on the third day, he emptied paradise out and helped paradise has been removed to heaven itself, and according to 2 Corinthians 12-3, we know that paradise today is in heaven itself where the Lord is.
today, this side of the cross, when a believer dies, they’re absent from the body, present with the Lord, 2nd Corinthians 5, 8. But if you lived in the Old Testament times, prior to the dying thief, dying from the cross, you would have gone to paradise in the heart of the earth. But now we go straight to heaven. Andia, I hope that helps. We now have Mike in Sarasota, Florida, and Mike, welcome to Bibleline your own year. Hey, good morning to you.
Before you? Okay. One, on Saturday I was listening in and letting them Carol call down and she said she was going to an assembly of God and you told her that you did not think that people who spoke in gibberish were saved. You thought they were lost. Not because of the gibberish, but because generally when I interview them, they usually say when you ask the question, can you lose your salvation? They say yes, they don’t even hesitate. anybody who believes you can lose your salvation.
I believe they probably haven’t thought it through, but what they’re saying is that they have to continue to live their life faithfully till they die and they’re going to heaven. But if they backslide or do not live the Christian life, they’ll go to hell. So really, that makes salvation by works. And therefore, if they’re trusting in works to be saved, they won’t be saved. So that’s the reasoning. Okay, because I’ll do as I talk about Jesus Christ, is my Lord and Savior.
I am saved by grace. I don’t talk in gibberish. I can have an unknown tongue. But can you be lost? We need to praise an unknown tongue, praise an ungod, not a man. Sure. Can you lose your salvation? That’s the big question. Can you lose your salvation? Yeah. Yes, you can lay it down. Yes, you can walk away from it. Paul even said I’ve got demons in him. They love this present world. They just take a hand. They walk away.
I didn’t… Well, that’s That’s what I’m talking about. If you can lose your salvation, stop for just a minute and just say, from this point right now, until you die, what you do or what you do not do determines your salvation then. And that makes you the Savior, not Christ. It’s sometimes difficult for people that are in that to see that. But really, according to the Bible, our salvation was fully paid for at the cross. And once Christ saves you, He saves you forever.
And we just saw earlier in this program that He would never cast you out and He’s not going to lose anyone that gets saved. So this is impossible to be lost once you become saved. So if you’re still depending upon how you’re going to live your life to get there, then that’s works. And then on that basis, you’re not saved. Well, actually, here’s the problem with that. See once I know that I’m saved because of Christ Jesus, you can have an interpretation you want.
But I know my salvation is based entirely on him, not on me. However, if you love this present world, he tells you, you don’t have no part with him. So what we teach is we teach that you need to give up everything you can to keep you isolated with Jesus Christ. That’s what we teach. If that’s wrong… Wrong. Then the Scriptures, it’s not open to personal interpretation, it says that. The Bible has to interpret the Bible. And we do things that say, in God’s character, God doesn’t change his character.
If you saw how his turn Israel away and turn them away because they were backsliding, they went a-horring after them after other gods. And he dismissed them. And then he would bring back a rim that he would save some. He’d save some of their family, their children. And we don’t think God’s changed. We’re still at We’re under grace, we believe that. We don’t believe you’re saved because if you work, we believe you’re saved. We believe that it works because you are safe.
We think that’s the evidence of it. It’s a good free beer, it brings forth good fruit. But I enjoy your program. I just think that sometimes you haven’t tasted the Holy Ghost, so you give your own interpretations, or Scofield’s, or somebody else’s. And I believe we’re all responsible for only walk with God. Each and every individual is not just corporately, but individually. So we can have an interpretation. I don’t agree with everything that all of our churches say. but I do agree with the Bible.
Thank you, my God. Thank you. I’m out of time. And again, this is a subtlety that is so difficult sometimes for people to grasp. But if you are really counting on anything that you’re going to do, when we separate the Bible out, we are saved by grace. But then we can earn rewards based upon our works. And that’s, I think, the area where you’re mixing it with salvation. and we’ll have to talk about it again tomorrow, because we’re out of time.
Thank you, Mike. That was a good discussion. And we are going to have to leave, but we’ll be back tomorrow. Hope you’ll join us, and I hope that you’ll check in on our bookstore on the internet.
