as we go to the different places where the biblical events took place. You’re invited. We’d love to have you. Please plan on joining us. If you have your Bible open there, turn up your old Matthew chapter 19. And here we have a passage that seems to come up again again as a perplexing passage about salvation. We have… We have in verse 16, behold one came unto Christ and said, Good Master, what good things shall I do that I may have eternal life.
And Jesus answered and said, why call this thou me good? There is none good but one, and that is God. This is a very interesting and important statement to recognize here that Christ is saying that we are all sinners. There is none good, not one, not one person. Think of all the people you know. Think of the best people that you’ve ever met. Guess what? They’re all sinners. They’re all sinners. Well, it’s interesting. And you know, I find that wherever I go that people generally will readily admit that they’ve done something wrong.
I had a funeral service on the last day of this past year on Monday of this week, and we had a church filled with lots of folks, and they’re all dressed up in their best to come to pay their respects to this person who passed away. I asked how many of you here have never told a lie in your life, would you stand up, please? Not a person stood up. They all admitted that they were liars. Isn’t that amazing?
Wherever you go, you’ll find that we’re all sinners. But there’s only one that is righteous and only one that is good and that is God. And Jesus Christ is God. He is pointing out here, I believe, to this young man, is that everybody in the human race is a sinner, and only God, only Jesus, God in flesh, is sinless. He is pointing out that he himself is God, and he is asking the young man if he recognized that. He said, Good Master, what good things shall I do that I may have eternal life?
And he said to him, Why cause thou me good? There is none good but one, and that is God. I think this is a beginning lesson in discovering how to have eternal life. You must know this, or you don’t really go much further. I remember when I was 18 and I heard the gospel for the first time, I thought that there were people who were righteous. I thought there were people who didn’t sin. I was invited to a Bible study by my sister filled with Bible-toten teenagers and I thought well, surely some of these, they’re the goody goodies I thought.
And they are certainly not like me. And when the person directing that Bible study said how many of you have never told a lie, I couldn’t raise my hand because I knew I had told a lie, probably more than one, but you know nobody else raised their hand. That was a wake up for me. I realized, wow, we’re all in the same boat. We’re all sinners. None of us can become eligible to go to heaven by our deeds or by our works.
And here we learn in this wonderful chapter of 19 of Matthew in verse 16 and 17 that Jesus here says there is only one good in that is God. And Jesus Christ of course is God and therefore He is righteous of Himself. He has committed no sins or never did commit a sin. The Bible says He is without sin and that is very clear. But then He goes on to say, if you will enter into life, keep the commandments.
And some people wonder why did He say that? Well, you see the commandments demand the righteousness of God, and yet no one has ever been able to attain it by keeping the commandments. In other words, if you were to keep the law, all of your life never failing, never breaking in one point, you would be eligible to enter heaven, but no one has ever done that. No one has ever kept the law. Everyone has sinned and has come short of the glory of God, and that’s what Christ is saying There is none good but one and that is God.
Everybody else in the human race is a sinner. And no one can earn their way to heaven because we’d have to be as righteous as God and we can never attain that righteousness. But the law was given to point out our failure. When he points to the Tim Commandments here, he’s telling this young man that this is how good you’d have to be to be able to enter heaven. And then, of course, the young man wanting to justify himself said which.
Which commandment? And we find here that Christ names a few off. Thou shalt do no murder. Well, guess what? The Bible says in 1 John 3 15 that if you’ve ever hated anyone in your heart you have committed murder. Isn’t that amazing? Wow, that’s scary. You may not have actually taken a gun or a knife or some other means taken another life. But according to the Bible, if you ever hated anybody, you’ve committed murder. with them in your heart.
So I think we’re all murderers. Is there anyone listening today to the Bible and program that has never hated someone at some point in your life? Maybe when you were really young, a brother or sister expressed hatred toward them. And certainly, if you’ve ever hated anyone, you’ve committed murder. Then next it says, don’t commit adultery. Matthew 19, In verse 16, and guess what? Jesus said, if you’ve ever lusted after the other sex in your mind, you have committed adultery with that person.
So maybe you’ve never actually committed the act of adultery, but yet you have lusted after the opposite sex. If you have according to Jesus, you have committed adultery with that person in your heart. We’re We’re striking out big time here, aren’t we? Murderers, adulterers, then it says also not steel. Is there anyone listing today that has not stolen, not even a dime attire, an automobile robbed a bank? Whatever it might be, no matter how small, if you’ve ever taken something that didn’t belong to you, you have stolen.
The Bible says, now it’s not steel. What about the next one? Now it’s not bear false witness. Is there anyone that has never told a lie? I haven’t met anyone yet. The Bible tells us that just one lie would be enough to exclude you from heaven. Then it says in verse 19 of Matthew 19, honor thy father and thy mother. Do you know, have you ever seen, have you ever been, that child, that never disrespected mom or dad, that absolutely all their life without fail honored their father and their mother?
I’m afraid I’ve never seen that child yet. learn very young to oppose and disrespect their moms and dads. They want it their way and they’ll very early on do their little temper tantrum and scream and cry and want their way. And the Bible says, you’re on it, my father and my mother. Then it says, another one that I love my neighbor as myself. Who has ever done that? You go out to the store, you see a nice maybe outfit for yourself and you say, boy, I’m going to get one of those.
And then you say, well, I love my neighbor just as much as I love myself. And I’m going to buy one for my neighbor as well. Have you ever done that? Most people don’t. So I don’t think any of these have been kept by anybody. But notice here the answer the young man gives in verse 20. He says, the young man saith unto Christ, all these things have I kept from my youth up. What lack I yet? Well, can we be honest here?
This guy is a liar, or at least self-deceived, because he did not keep him. No one has. Jesus started off already and told us that there is none righteous, no not one. Only God is righteous, and Jesus Christ is God, who took God flesh. This man was under the delusion of thinking he had kept all those. You haven’t, I haven’t. No one has. Jesus said later in John 7 verse 19, did not Moses give you the law and yet none of you, none of you, none of you have kept it.
Not one person has ever kept the law. There’s no one. There’s no one. I don’t care whether they’re a minister, a rabbi, a pope or whatever they might be. No matter how religious there is no one that has ever kept the law. All have broken it. So then the young man says unto him, all these things that I kept for my youth up, what like I yet? And then Jesus said to him, if you’ll be perfect, go and sell out that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven.
Now he goes on to talk about the Christian life. If this fellow were saved, which he was not, then if he were to sell all that he had, and give to the poor, he would earn rewards in heaven. And notice Jesus puts the two together. This is very, very important if you’re understanding how to rightly divide your Bible. At the end of verse 21, he says, come. Now, these are separate. He says, come, that’s all you must do in order to be saved.
You simply come to Christ and trust in His finished work at the Cross of Calvary. And then after you’ve come and received the gift of eternal life, if you follow me, then you will have treasure in heaven. So here’s the difference between salvation and the Christian life. Between salvation and discipleship. You become saved when you simply come to Christ and trust in the work that He finished at the cross and you become rewarded in heaven or a disciple when you choose to serve Him and follow Christ.
Notice Jesus here talked about both things. He talked about if you were righteous as righteous as the law demanded, then you could enter heaven. The only way to receive that righteousness is to trust Christ and the fact that he imputes or credits the account of the unbeliever with righteousness at the moment they believe. So when you believe you become righteous and then if you follow, you’ll be rewarded, you become a disciple and you’ll have treasure in heaven. And so it’s important to distinguish between that.
And I think verse 21 is a key verse. At the end of the verse it says, Christ has come and then He says, follow Me. If you come, you’ll be saved. If you follow, you’ll be rewarded. In any case, the young man heard these things and then he went away sorrowful for he had great possessions. So you’ll notice here, he obviously walked away, unfortunately, because he missed both points that Christ was making. And then we find here verse 23 says, he says, Christ says in verse 23, barely I say unto you that a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.
Why? A rich man generally will trust in his riches and he doesn’t need to trust in Christ. Have you ever noticed that? I have. I remember somebody telling me I’d like to have you have lunch with this friend. to mind and lead him to Christ, he was an attorney. He was a very prominent attorney, made lots of money. We sat down on lunch and I introduced the subject and I said, you know, you need to be as righteous as God did or heaven.
You need to trust Christ as your Savior. He said, look, let me just set the record straight here. I don’t need your God. He says, my house is paid for, my boat is paid for, my cars are paid for, I’m in good health, I have no needs what so ever, and I don’t need your God. Come back in about thirty or forty years, maybe I’ll need Him then.” Well, you know, it was interesting to me, and I said, you know, that’s exactly what the Bible proclaims.
People that are rich don’t see a need. They don’t have a need. And so they don’t see them in need of God, either. And so they put themselves at great risk and in great jeopardy. Well, you know, unfortunately, at least then, he didn’t trust the Lord. I hope he has trusted the Lord’s sense, but I doubt it. I believe that he is self-sufficient. And I’ve met lots of people like that. And maybe you have, too. Maybe you’re listening today, and you feel self-sufficient.
You don’t feel like you need God. You think everything is going OK. This about reminds me of the fellow that jumped off the top of the Empire State Building. And somebody leaned out the window of the 88.4. and saw him coming down and said, how’s it going? And the guy falling from off the top of the Empire State Building said, fine, so far. Well, things were still going OK until he hit the concrete down below. And then obviously, things weren’t OK.
It wasn’t the fall that killed a man. It was that sudden stop when he met the concrete. That’s what happens. People are in their fall, and they don’t recognize that they are in danger because they haven’t hit the concrete yet. But there is a day coming when every man, woman and child will die and when they stand before the Lord unless they have trusted Christ they will not enter heaven. So Jesus says, very I say unto you that a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.
Oftentimes people that are poor, that are in need, that are infirmed, that have difficulty in life, learn to trust, learn that others have to help them, and without their help they could not make it. And as a result, they know what trust is all about, and they can transfer that trust to Jesus as their Savior and receive Him as the only means of heaven. But sometimes pride comes in with the rich and they feel like they don’t need God.
They say Christianity is a crutch. only for the week, I don’t need that. Well, obviously they’re deluded because we’re all weak. We’re all frail. We’re all in danger of going to hell unless we trust Christ as Savior. And you know the disciples, when they heard all this verse 25, they were exceedingly amazed and said, who then can be saved? I love the answer here in verse 26. Jesus beheld them and said, with men this is impossible. But with God all things are possible.
What does that mean? In other words, with men it’s impossible for you to become as righteous as required in her heaven. But with God he can make it possible if you trust in his death at the cross of Calvary. He will give you the righteousness that you need in order of inner heaven. I’m Dr. Inklinz, this is Bible and it’s great to be with you today. And we’re going to talk about what you want to talk about now. We’re going to go to Larry in Clearwater and you’re welcome to dial up and get on the air with me too.
Larry, welcome to Bibleline. Yeah, hi. Yes, I’m going to say to you. I want to ask you, in the book of Revelations talk, they talk about Babylon and the horror of Babylon and history Babylon. I know there’s been some writers. I think it was like Dave Hunt that I think he thinks that Babylon is the Roman Catholic Church or something. I just wanted to get your opinion on. Okay, Larry. Actually two things are going on in Revelation chapter 17.
you have religious Babylon, which I do believe is today centered in the Roman Catholic Church. You’ll find it says there in Revelation 17 that the woman is a city in verse 18. In that city, according to verse 9, is situated on seven hills. It’s remarkable that Rome has always been known as the city built upon seven hills. And by the way, I have a number of Catholic Bibles in my library here. And you know the Catholic put notes in the Catholic Bible say that Revelation 17 is talking about Rome.
But because of their view of the Bible, they see it as already fulfilled or historic. They feel like it was already fulfilled in Nero and that it’s not even talking about them and they don’t see themselves at all because they don’t see it future. But if you notice verse 12 of Revelation 17, it talks about something future. It talks about Christ coming back and defeating the armies of this world. And I don’t recall that in my history books. I don’t think that’s happened yet.
But Christ will come back and defeat the armies of this world in his second coming. And that is of course what it’s referring to. Also, it says it’s called the woman has honor forehead, the name Mystery Babylon, mother of harlots. and of abominations and so on. That’s a reference back to the Babylonian religious system back in ancient Babylon. Wow. And so it’s a clear identification, I believe, and I can go much more on that. But in chapter 18 we have the political Babylon.
And that is, of course, the one-world government of the last days that would come up out of the West. They It would come out of what we see in Daniel in Nebuchadnezzar’s image beginning with Babylon and then following with the next role of ruling power, the Medo-Persian Empire, the Grecian Empire, the Roman Empire, and now the inform will be Europe and America, which is of course the Americas have been greatly influenced by the Roman Catholic Church and the religious system is greatly influenced Europe and America is the Roman Catholic Church.
And so the political system will be in the same geographical areas and they will come together. And this is a system of commerce and trade and merchandising. And if you read chapter 8, it talks about all that and how that the political system and the religious system that can be traced all the way back to ancient Babylon will be destroyed at the second coming of Jesus Christ. Well, we’re going to have to say goodbye to our Miami audience. It’s good to be with you again.
Thank you for tuning in down there in South Florida. I was born and raised down there, and I have a special affinity for the Miami area. And we’re glad that we’re on the air with you. Hopefully you’re enjoying today, and you’ll listen to the rest of the week. Tell your friends down in Miami to listen to Bible and as we come to you every day at 10 o’clock in the morning, Eastern time. All right, we’re gonna rejoin the people on the stations that have not yet gone off the air for this half hour.
And then of course, we’re gonna take a break go into a second half hour of Bible and we hope that you’ll join us for the full hour if you can. If not on live radio go to the internet. We’re there 24-7. If you can’t hear it now this morning you can go back tonight or in the middle of the night or in the early morning or whenever it’s convenient for you. And I know some people tell me. They play Bibleline off of the internet and others watch the sermon before they go to work.
Somebody just told me this morning that they had just finished watching five sermons from our website where all of the sermons for the past one year are sitting there waiting for you. Well, we’re going to go ahead and get ready for our break here. If you haven’t helped Bibleline in the past or if you haven’t given like a book or something, you’re going to be able to get a book or something. and lately could you help us out that would be great.
We’re totally dependent upon our listeners to be on the air. That’s how we are able to pay the bills and be on in your area. Maybe you’d like to give a gift and you can do it by credit card over the phone. You can also mail a gift in. If you’d like, call and we’ll send you an envelope with our address on it, then mail your gift and that’ll be a wonderful way you can keep Bibleline on the air.
Also, we want you to know we will be going to Israel and we’d love to have you get that brochure in your hand. Call us, we’ll send that out at the same time. We can also send out a resource list, which will tell you about all the things we have in our resource center. Meaning wonderful study helps for you and also gifts for others that you might want to share these things with. In any way, case, maybe a belated gift of a Scofield Bible to somebody, that would be great.
Okay, we’re gonna go to break and we’ll come back in a few moments in the second half hour by blind so keep your radio to the right word is and will come right back in just a moment to do the second half of my life don’t go away by the line will be back in a moment give us a call it one eight hundred five seven six three seven seven one that’s one eight hundred five seven six thirty seven seventy one all right i’m not going to instrument this is by blind it’s great to be with you thanks for tuning into the broadcast want to thank all the people that make this thing possible.
First of all, you that give the Bible and make it possible for us to be on the air. Also, want to thank the people up in Detroit, which Graham in particular that makes this thing work by getting us up on the satellite and then all radio stations everywhere pull us down off of the satellite and that’s how we get up on the air wherever we are in the US of A. So we hope that you You will also take advantage of this Bibleline program that is brought to you by wonderful people who make it possible for us to get up there.
For the volunteers we have here at the Bible and Headquarters because we really don’t pay any salaries to anybody, no one. And that’s how we’re able to be out as far as we are because monies that would be paid out for different jobs are all volunteered and we don’t have to do that. We can put it right back into the ministry. That’s why we believe that Bible is such a great investment. Not only are we reaching the lost and getting people saved, and by the way, getting responses from all over the world, we just got a nice email today from Indonesia last week from Singapore, last week from Dubai, Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.
We got one last week from, I believe it was, I forget the country now, but all over. We are getting responses from the Bible and broadcast, radio and television and people are emailing us. It’s exciting. We’re excited about that and we hope you are too. And you can be a part of that as you pray for and give the Bible and God bless all of you who do because you are those special people that keep us on the air.
God bless you. We are going to Israel. I hope you’ll join me on that trip. It’s February 25th and there’s time for you to do everything you need to do. You can get a passport nowadays if you get your materials together. Generally, within several weeks and if you pay a special expedite fee, you can get it one week. So you need to get moving on that, but also you need to make your reservation so we can guarantee the seat on the airplane for you.
So give us a call. We’ll give you the brochure and you can make up your mind. And if you need any questions answered, I’ll personally talk to you about the trip. I would love to have you go on trip number 15 with me. We’ll have a wonderful time and I know it’ll be a life-changing experience for you. We’re going to go back and return to the stations that have been on break and do the second half our Bibleline and we hope that you’ll keep your video tuned right where it is.
Maybe tell a friend quickly to get on the air and listen and if you have a question you can call in. Would you like to call Bibleline and ask Dr. Lindstrom a question? You can. Just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3771. Now here again is Dr. Hank Lindstrom. Alright, we’re back from that break and this is Bible and we are so excited to be with you here in the new year. This is 2008. Boy, it’s going to be a while for me to make sure I write that down when I write a check or what I do business.
We’re so used to writing 2007, but that’s the transition that occurs every year. We’re excited about being in this year. Maybe this is the year. Jesus will return. Wouldn’t that be something? We are excited about the potential for that and if your believer will be caught up and meet the Lord in the air and will be forever with the Lord. We are excited also about the fact that by-mind is reaching out all over the world. We just got an email this morning from Indonesia.
Wow, last week from Singapore, last week also from Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. And we’re getting them from Europe and Africa all around the world and we just know that we are reaching out. You know we had 151 countries log in to Bibleline last year. We’re excited about what God is going to do this year and we believe that Bibleline is reaching far beyond what we could ever imagine. We know we have missionaries in different countries around the world that are listening to Bibleline.
Isn’t that exciting? It is absolutely wonderful. Just tell your friends about how they can get on the internet and catch our program wherever they might be. Maybe a family of friends in a foreign country, maybe in the military. We have quite a few guys in the military that gather around on Sunday morning, around their laptop and watch the Bible and worship service right there in their barracks. We just had one in churches past Sunday and he said, that’s what we do.
We gather around the laptop in the barracks and watch the Bibleline worship service that you all webcast. And so, wow, these are exciting really days where the Internet has made it possible for us really truly to be worldwide. And we’re excited about all the many stations that guide us a lot to be on. And we want to thank you, the listener, that makes it possible by your gifts to Bible and because without your gifts, we’d have to go off the air.
And we are stretched right to the very wire. We really could use your regular prayers and regular financial support. If you would like to start off this brand new year, one resolution may I recommend that you would say I’ll give the Bible and I’ll keep that program out there. And the message that is going out from Bible and to the world and so many people are confused about how to go to heaven. They just don’t know. ask the average person if you do you know how to go to heaven they don’t know they don’t know and so they’re lost and obviously we need to reach them with the wonderful gospel of Jesus Christ.
If you want to dial in today the phone number is 1-800-576-3771 and we’ll be glad to take your call and answer it on the air and we hope that you’ll feel free to do that. 1-800-576-3771. And if you would consider going to Israel, we’re going to have a wonderful trip. Wow, this is a chance of a lifetime. You may never do it if you don’t make the decision to say, hey, I’m going to do this. I’ve been wanting to do it all my life.
And here’s my chance. And I’ll be taking you on this trip. I’ve been 14 times. It’ll We trip number 15 for me. We’ll study the Bible all the along as we travel the land from north to south and east to west, as we’ll see the Mediterranean Sea, the Sea of Galilee, the Dead Sea. We’ll see the mountains. We’ll see the valleys. We’ll be at the lowest place on the face of the entire Earth. The Dead Sea Valley around the Dead Sea is over 1,300 feet below sea level.
absolutely amazing phenomena. You will not be able to find another spot on the earth as low as the Dead Sea. And that’s where we’re going to be. We hope that you will join us on this wonderful trip. And the information is right there on the internet, but I’ll be glad to mail it to you. Call me and we’ll send it out right today. But if you get a Bibleline news on the website on BibleLineMinistries.org click on Bibleline News and you can pull down the full four page brochure and the full two page itinerary.
You can print it out. And if you have any questions, I’ll talk to you personally about them and we’ll try to get you through. you enrolled and get you going on the trip of a lifetime to 12 full days in Israel living February the 25th. By the way this is Wednesday. This is the second day of January the year 2008 and we do have services tonight so if you’re looking to begin the year off right and you live in driving distance you’re welcome to come tonight to our prayer meeting service.
It’ll be a Bible study and some prayer requests and prayer and we’re going to start the brand new You’re Off-Right. Of course you’re welcoming to come out on Sundays but as again I’ve said before if you can’t you live in another city, you live in another state you’re welcome to go to the internet and at least you can get the Sunday worship services and you can get our Sunday morning service live if you go there at 11 o’clock on Sunday morning.

And if you have one of these super large monitors, 50-something inches wide, you can show it through theater style to your whole family.
Wouldn’t that be great? So our service tonight is at 6.30, but if you come at 7, that’s when we begin the Bible study portion. We will sing right up until 7, and then we actually open the Bible, and we’ll study the scriptures tonight at 7 o’clock. Now we’re subservices by the way, excuse me, are also available on CD and you can get all of the month’s sermons on CD sent to your home every month if you decide to subscribe.
So we have many subscribers all over the country and at the end of each month we mail out all of the CDs of the month’s sermons and you can call in and subscribe and get them as well. I think the price is $30 a month and that includes all postage handling and shipping the sermons out. They’re in high quality on CV and you’ll, I think, enjoy listening to those messages in your car or in your home or wherever you might want to use them.
We’re going to go to the phone lines and we’re excited about having Robert in Bradenton, Florida on the line. Robert, welcome to the Bible. I’m on the air. I really don’t think it makes any difference. Obviously, it’s Jesus who died for us. It’s Jesus who washed away our sin that is pictured in water baptism. If you read Revelation 1 5, it says unto Him, Jesus that loved us and washed us from our sins in his own blood. So, to be baptized in the name of Jesus, Jesus is the name of Jesus.
Jesus is the name of Jesus is certainly the one in whom you are trusting in to save you by his shed blood, but the water is symbolic of how you are cleansed by your sin. In Matthew chapter 28 and verse 19 and 20 it says, Baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, please notice it says, name singular. Although there are three separate eternal persons in the Godhead, they all have the same name.
His name is the before consonants called the tetragrammaton which is YHWH. Nobody is really sure how to pronounce that but generally the consensus is today that it should be pronounced Yahweh. So Jesus is Yahweh and so I don’t think it’s worth arguing over. It’s Jesus that you’re talking about. It’s Jesus that cleanses you of your sin. It’s in the name of Jesus that you’re baptized. I’ve baptized, I generally say in the name of the Father and the Son and in the name of the Holy Spirit, but it doesn’t matter.
I don’t believe one bit. If you are saved by trusting in the shed blood of Christ, you’re saved forever. And what about hism is a testimony. And it’s obviously giving testimony to the fact that Christ died and shed his blood in order to forgive your sin. So Robert, I hope that helps and thank you for that call from down in Bradenton, Florida. We’re excited about our local audience here. here. We’re going to you live every day out of Tampa on AM 570 and AM 910, both simultaneous and that takes us fully over 17 counties here on the west coast of Florida, including St.
Petersburg and Tampa and Clearwater, some of the larger cities and of course, Bradenton, Sarasota and Lakeland plant city all around us. There are people that are listening in this area and start naming cities and I’ll probably leave your town out. But we’re also excited now about being on in Miami. We’re on in Delan, Florida. We’re on in Jacksonville, Florida. I was talking to a friend who called us on New Year’s Eve, but hadn’t seen for a while. And he was not aware that we were on in Jacksonville.
So maybe he’s listening today up in Jacksonville, Florida. By the way, if you’re up in that area, please call us. We’d love to hear from you. And if you’re in anywhere in Tennessee listing or in Virginia or Pennsylvania or in New York or Massachusetts or Michigan, wherever you might be where we’re broadcasting live, I probably left somebody out here. But we again, we are excited about what God is doing and allowing us to be on the air. If you have a Bible question, this is your chance to call in 1-800-576-3771.
We’re going to probably announce tomorrow another class that we’ll be teaching on Tuesday nights. And I think we’ll come up with an exciting topic. And we hope that if you’re in driving distance, you can come by and actually sit in those classes live as we teach them here at Bible and Headquarters. Also, of course, we want you to know that the third Sunday of every month we have a dinner here at the Church I pastor, Calvary Community. So you might plan to, if you drive a distance, come visit us to choose that Sunday to come because you can stay for the lunch dinner that happens right after the morning worship service.
Come at 10.30, bring your family, your Bible, your appetite, and then stay and join us for the lunch. lots of great home cook food and will have a super duper time and while it is uh… really great nothing like church dinners on time the food is great and i know that when i’ve traveled speaking of the churches and other places uh… while some of the food at those church uh… sponsored dinners is the greatest in all the world and uh…
i remember preaching in louisiana and they had a a gumbo contest between everybody. I never knew there were so many different kinds of gumbo soup. Wow, that was a treat. I still can savor the great taste of all that great food. I learned a lot about gumbo that I didn’t know before. Wherever I’ve gone, I’ve found that church dinners are marvelous. We’re going to have one here on our third Sunday. You’re welcome to come and be a part of that.
You know, we’re so excited about how the internet is reaching out for us. We just got an email this morning, Dear Sir, and it’s from Indonesia. And it’s a pastor. His name is Marcus and he writes to us and we’re excited about that contact. We also had one last week from Singapore. We had one last week from Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. and people around the world are listening to and watching by line on the internet tell your friends and i hope you’ll try to get a try yourself that’s by the line ministries dot o r g or dot com or from the here by one eight hundred five seven six three seven seven one one eight hundred five seven six three seven seven one and we’re about ready to go uh…
to grab one of our calls here let’s see we have uh… don in treasure island and uh… welcome to bible and you’re on here uh… hello pastor uh… i’m from with dot and i’m down here visiting as i do every year and i’m going to be coming in again in a week or so pick up all of your fine written work uh… these things are fantastic for bible studies in prison uh… the reason i’m calling i have a question on last year someone wrote a book a christian man wrote a book about 10 seconds after you die or 10 minutes after you die or something like that in my and I understand it.
A hundred maybe thousands came to the Lord through that book and I remember you saying that Hebrews 927 says that it is appointed on demand once to die and then the judgment. But don’t you think that it’s possible Jesus raised people from the dead when he was here for his purposes. Don’t you think it’s possible that maybe he did do this for this guy or is it absolutely not true? I believe it’s absolutely not true that when you die that’s it.
You don’t come back and we know that at the round the time of Christ that was a clear special exception in order to demonstrate that Jesus Christ wasn’t needed in the Messiah that had been predicted that would come. Now I do like the book and we stock it here in our Resource Center here by Erwin Lutzer. It’s called One Minute After You Die, but Erwin didn’t die and you had to have it and come back to tell us about it.
He tells us about one minute after you die as to what the Scriptures teach. It’s great. It’s wonderful for people who are bereaved. It’s wonderful for people who are going to lose a loved one. They have a real interest and this book has led many to Christ. They also have, it also is a great book for this somebody curious about the afterlife. It’s a great book, One Minute Effie, died by Erwin Litzer, and we’ve got that here in our resource center.
It’s a great witnessing tool, and it’s a great book of comfort to somebody who has lost one or soon to lose a loved one, and I recommend that highly. But I don’t believe anybody today has gone up to heaven and come back. There are some fantastic claims. I know Ernest Ainsley usually begins his program and he’s standing there with the backdrop for these pillars and the stars above his head and he tells about how God caught him up to heaven and that he sent him back down here and I really don’t believe any of those stories.
I think they’re all false. Okay. Thank you very much. I’ll be in and pick up some of those things including that book by Luther that you just recommended. Wonderful. It’s good to hear your voice and we’ll look forward to seeing you. Thank you very much, Pastor. Okay, that was done in Treasure Island and We’re now going to go to Then you go to Don the St. Petersburg. This is Don Day apparently Don. Welcome to violin Got me good morning.
You’re on the air Good morning. How are you good good pastor? Yeah, I’m calling you in the reference to a statement of pad that pastor of Adrian Rogers. He said that God is everywhere, which he is, but can he be in hell? He said he was in hell too. And I don’t think he can be in hell because sin is in hell and God is separated from sin and therefore he couldn’t be in hell. He couldn’t stand to be in hell.
Well, I don’t know the verse that would say he’s in hell. In fact, nobody’s in hell is yet because hell has been reserved for the Devil and the Angels, Matthew 2541, but all the dead of the human race are in Hades in a place of flame and torment. And they’re eventually all going to be in hell because there’s no escaping your destination. If you wind up in Hades, you’re going to go to hell. But God is certainly the one who’s in charge of hell, and Jesus will be the one who will a degree of punishment, Hell, and cast the lost into Hell.
So Jesus definitely is going to be the one to do that. And in Hell, the Bible says every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is the Savior, the living God, and so on. So everybody in Hell will worship God. But God is on the present. So I don’t know these are concepts perhaps we have difficulty understanding, but if we believe I’m the present to be I’m the present, that means he’s everywhere present. So God is fully aware of every thought, of every person in hell and in heaven.
Of course they’re not in hell yet, but in Hades he knows all about him. And in Luke 16 we have a wonderful vision of a real story of two people who die, one who saved and one who’s lost and what happens and uh… certainly uh… uh… they are conscious and their alert as to where they are and once you died too late you don’t come back as the rich man in Hades wanted to come back but he was not allowed to anyone to send somebody else back who have been dead and god said that was impossible either we’re now going to go to uh…
Rich Petersburg, Virginia. We have Robert on the line and Robert welcome to Bibleline from Virginia. Yeah, you’re on the air. Yes. My question is, good morning. My question is when they talk about all nations going to come against Israel, does that include the United States as well? Absolutely. It does. In fact, the United States will lead up the takeover of the Middle East according to the Bible. I believe the United States, will wind up taking over all of what was ancient Saudi Arabia, which means Saudi, I mean other Assyria, and that would include Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Israel, and Egypt.
So according to the Bible, in the middle of the tribulation, seven years after the rapture, all that territory will belong to the United States. I believe we will take it all over. We’re already on the way. I think the movement has begun. And I think that tells us we’re real close to the Lord’s return. Thank you very much. You’re very welcome and thank you for your call. We now have Jose and he is in Fort Benning, Georgia and Jose, welcome to Bibleline.
Good morning. I think you are one of those that listen or watch our worship services online. That is correct and I’m listening online right now. Isn’t that great? wonderful and we are, I want to thank you for your service to your country and we’re very excited about others are able to benefit as you are from the Bible and program. Excellent, excellent. Thank you. Dr. Lindstrom, I get a question coming and I would like, kind of like your point of view on Bisa that I’m about to stand at as we get saved.
We’re seen by God as crucified with Christ, buried Christ and risen with Christ, correct? That is great. And we are already seated in heavenly places. Therefore time is not an issue for God. But my question is whenever we go to heaven, whenever we get our new body, not be an issue for us, we’ll be found in Christ. Will we remember when we were crucified? Will we remember as the first person when the worlds were created? Will we remember the beginning things we are found in Christ?
Well… That is all speculation, but certainly we’re going to learn of all those things and be made aware of them. I think heaven is going to be one incredible Bible study forever and ever and ever. We’re going to learn about everything that God has ever done. We’ll never know as much, as God. I think we’ll always be approaching because He’s infinite and we’re finite. But that’s an exciting concept and we’ll have to wait till we see because the Bible doesn’t spell everything out for us.
But truly, we’re going to be into eternity not bound by time anymore, but yet we’ll be able to remember and will be able to obviously enjoy as we move forward into eternity and continually learn and live in the presence of the Lord. Well it is great to find out when the time comes and I want to say thank you and to your Thank you very much and I’m praying for you guys always and I hope you guys do the same for me over here.
Certainly well thank you Jose for calling in from Fort Benning, Georgia. That’s great to have that call and again the internet helps us really reach out. We have Tommy now in Jacksonville Florida. Tommy, welcome to Babylon. You’re on there. Hey, how you doing? Good. I can do it here. Same to you. I have a question about tithing. Since we are redeemed from the personal law, is a believer, is tithing still a Bible principle? And is or I’m not using correctly English, but is a believer cursed if they don’t hide?
Well, first of all, you’re not cursed, but giving is a privilege that every believer has and every believer is to give. But we’re not under the Old Testament law, which is what timing was, where you were under the law required to give. But today, if you read 2 Corinthians chapter eight, chapter nine, they’re all New Testament giving chapters and it talks about how that our giving is a visible demonstration of our love. Then it proves the sincerity of our love.
In other words, somebody puts your money where your mouth is. If you really love the Lord, if you really care, then you’ll want to give, I think, to show that you love the Lord and want to please the Lord and be obedient to His Word. He talks about everybody purposing in their heart how much they would give. I think 10% is great, but you might give an 9.5 or 10.5 or 11. The actual amount is up to you, but God wants you to give from the heart a gift that would show your love and gratitude to him for what he’s done for you.
Whoop and that color is gone already, but I hope that helps answer that question. We’re at the end of the program It’s hard to believe that we’ve come up so quickly on that, but we’ll be back tomorrow I hope you’ll join us if you’re in the area. We will have services tonight is Wednesday and We will have our full program except for a water tonight We will want to have a one until next week, but we will have our choir rehearsal tonight We will have our worship service if you’re driving this and you’re welcome of course this Sunday you’re welcome to come and join us for the first services of the new year 2008.
