So if you’ve not been baptized by immersion since your salvation We would be happy to include you with ours. Sometimes people tell me they don’t have a church home or their church doesn’t immerse and they would like to be baptized as the Bible teaches that you should by immersion. It doesn’t save you, but it is an act of obedience to the command that Christ gave us to be baptized. We believe that’s by immersion and it’s a testimony of the fact that you have been saved by what Christ did for you at the cross, and that this is a testimonial of their being washed of your sin by the blood of Christ, the water doesn’t take away your sin.
In any case, we’re so glad to invite you, and we hope that we’ll see you. This Sunday, we know we have folks from coming from quite a distance that are coming, that wanna be a part of this Sunday’s celebration of the resurrection of Christ, as we celebrate every Sunday morning. The first day of the week is a constant reminder and celebration of the fact that Christ is risen again from the dead. In any case we hope you’ll take a look at our website Bible by clicking on the spinning globe.
You can catch our TV programs by clicking on the television set. You can click on the camera and get our worship services and you can actually go there at 11 o’clock Sunday morning and catch the Sunday morning worship service live. But if you go during the week, we have a year’s worth of sermons waiting there for you to watch. You can click on the online bookstore and you’ll have our resource center. So take a look at our website BibleLineMinistries.org.
We finished up another teaching just a week ago. That second Peter is now available for you. on CD and DVD, 10 Hours of Teaching. We have 1 Peter Dunn, that’s 10 Hours of Teaching, on CD and DVD. We have the Gospel of John, 20 Hours of Teaching, available on CD and DVD. And we have about 40 other presentations on the book of Revelation, the book of Daniel, the book of Romans, the book of Hebrews, and numerous others, and many on different topics.
And I think you’ll find them all very helpful. Why not check out what we have on on our resource center by going to our online bookstore, but also you could call this for a resource sheet to be sent to you and you can be able to look over the prices and the things that we have. We have the Schofield Bible, which is unique, and the bookstores don’t carry the old, which is what we carry. You know, every time a He’s a publishing company, wants to get a brand new copyright.
They have to make 10% changes. Whoa, and boy, they do it. They have to conform. And so the newer Scofield’s have been watered down and softened up and changed the 10%. They do it and they’re not as good. You want the old, and that’s what we stock. And we have it in Spanish. We have it in English. We have the greatest book in the world of evangelism, handbook of personal evangelism. We have it in English, we have it in Spanish, and we have also gospel tracks that work.
We have them in English and we have them in Spanish. So you might want to check out what we have and maybe it will work for you. I’m Dr. Englund Strem, we’re going to get into the Bible and we’re going to go ahead and talk to our listeners who are calling in right now. If you want that phone number, it’s 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. When I say a word about water baptism, a lot of people are confused and many churches teach water baptism as being essential for salvation.
That is certainly not true and of course God’s illustration is given to us with the two thieves that were crucified with Christ on the cross. We find that the thief that believed or trusted on Christ was saved, he never had a chance to be water baptized. And so if you were never water baptized, you would still be saved. But Christ has left two ordinances, water baptism and the Lord’s Supper, and as an act of obedience as a believer, we ought to observe them.
But that water baptism will not save. But there are those who try to support water baptism from scripture and teach that it’s essential if you’re going to go to heaven. And that is of course not true. One of those verses is Acts 2.38. And Acts 2.38 says, Repent and be baptized. And this verse needs clarification because obviously many people misinterpret this to be water and it is not. First of all, Peter had preached on Pentecost that Jesus Christ, who had been crucified by the leadership of Israel, was indeed the true Messiah.
They had made a serious mistake in crucifying Christ, who is the Lord of glory. God of course demonstrated that He SUPPORTED that He is the Lord of glory by having Him come back again from the They were convicted by Peter’s message and they said, what should we do? And Peter said, repent. That means change your mind. The Greek word for repent is meta noia. Meta means change. Noia means mind. The two words together, meta noia mean a change of mind.
And Peter saying, change your mind. You thought he was an imposter. That’s why you crucified him. Change your mind and realize he is indeed the savior. And then what? be the word baptized from the Greek means to cleanse, to wash. We find here he is talking about being cleansed now or washed of your sin. How? Not by water. He says be baptized or washed or cleansed in the name of the Lord Jesus. We notice here it is a baptism in the name of Jesus Christ.
The consequences will be too. You will receive the remission of your sins and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Now if this is talking about water then obviously you cannot have your sins forgiven and you cannot receive the Holy Spirit without being water baptized. That doesn’t match up with the rest of scripture. That is for sure. We know that people have received the Holy Spirit before they were water baptized. If you look at Acts 10, it tells us there that the people at the household of Cornelius believed and they received the remission of their sins.
Then Peter says in verse 47 of Acts 10, can any man forbid water that these should not be baptized which have received the Holy Spirit as well as we? So we notice there that they had already been forgiven, they hadShipping been saved, but yet they had not been water baptized. They had received the Holy Spirit even though they had not been yet water baptized. Peter says in verse 47 of Acts 10, can any man forbid water that these should not be baptized who have already received the Holy Spirit as well as we?
Wow! So they were already saved. And obviously that is a passage that would help us interpret Acts 2 to make sure that we understand that it’s not water here because they in the next 10 got saved by simply believing With no water baptism, and then they were said to not to be forbidden to be water baptized, now that they have been saved and received the Holy Spirit. So in any case, it says here be baptized in the name. Now, you might be a little bit reluctant to accept that, but you know there are ten different baptisms taught in the New Testament, and most of them are dry and do not involve a liquid at all.
There is the baptism of fire. That is not with water. There’s the baptism of the Holy Spirit that’s not with water. There’s the baptism of Moses that is not with water. There’s the baptism of death that is not with water. And so on and so on. So there are numerous baptisms that are taught in the New Testament, 10 of them in their entirety. By the way, I have a CD series on the 10 baptisms of the New Testament. Also a number of articles that you can receive.
that will talk to you about water baptism and its proper role. It is a testimonial on the part of somebody who’s already been saved of how they’ve been cleansed and are sinned by the blood of Christ. Let me go to another passage to give you an example of what I’m saying here and how this is not something I just made up. And if you turn to 1 Corinthians 9, 1 Corinthians 6, it says in verse 11 about many of the Corinthian believers, he says, and such were some of you 1 Corinthians 6, 11, but you are washed, you are washed and it says you are signified, you are justified and then it says in the name of the Lord Jesus.
Exactly the same thing that we are reading about in next 238. Here Paul is talking to the Christian believers and he says you are washed in the name of the Lord Jesus. You are washed in the name of the Lord Jesus. So there is such a thing, a cleansing, a washing of your sin that occurs when you put your trust in Jesus Christ and in the authority of Christ who is God in human flesh, your sins are washed away.
Revelation 1-5 says unto him that loved us and washed us from our sins in his own blood. It’s only the blood that can wash away your sin, not water. And him writer got it right when he said, what can wash away my sin? The answer is nothing but the blood. Nothing but the blood. Nothing but the blood. Not water. Nothing but the blood. And so Acts 2.38 is not teaching water baptism. Peter is saying, change your mind and be cleansed or washed when you put your trust in the Lord Jesus and he will forgive your sins and you’ll receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, a very much apparel passage in Acts 10.
We have people, Peter’s preaching, same message, and they believe and they receive the remission of their sins. They receive the Holy Spirit. So, salvation has been received without water baptism. And in Acts 1047, Peter says, can any man forbid water that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Spirit as well as we. I’m Dr. Englinson. This is Bibleline. And we’re going to go to our callers in just a second. We’ve got all of our lines lighted up and we hope that you’ll call if you have a question.
That number is 1-800-576-3771. We have Neil in the land Florida and Neil, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Dr. Heck, I have two questions if I can ask them. Go ahead. The first one is who or what in the coming up to relation period? Who is the source of that? Now it’s part of God’s plan for the ages. He told us long ago that there would be this seven year period which would be the conclusion of the Old Testament.
Daniel 9 is a very foundational passage and it talks about a prophecy of 70 weeks of years of 490 years. 483 years would take us to the death of Christ, Daniel 926, where he’d be crucified to pay for our sins. And then there would be a big gap or interval where God would slip in this present church age which began at Pentecostable in the rapture. And once the rapture happens, the last seven years will tick off the clock and is called in Jeremiah chapter 30, the time of Jacob’s trouble.
Jacob, remember his name was changed to Israel. His twelve sons became the twelve tribes of Israel. So it’s a time when God is going to go back to his plan for Israel, an earthly kingdom that he will establish will occur at the end of those seven years. And the seven years are really a time of coming to A conclusion to the Old Testament Age of Law and bringing about this wonderful kingdom of peace on earth, get will toward men where Christ will come back out of the heavens with all of his power.
All of his glory defeat the armies of this world at Armageddon and establish a kingdom of peace on earth for a thousand years. Well Satan is definitely very active. He will try to control the world. His man the Antichrist that he will indwell will be the false Christ to attempt to conquer and control the whole world and rule the earth from Jerusalem. You read in Daniel 11 that the Antichrist will establish his palace in Jerusalem and he will rule the western world from Jerusalem and he will be the false Christ.
So Satan empowers him and Satan obviously is attempting to defeat God’s plan and he will attempt to set up his kingdom which of course will not happen. My second question is these seven years are the same as law. Yes, absolutely. All right. Thank you very much. All right, Neil, thank you for listening there in to land for it. And we’re now going to go to Bob in Oldsmar, Florida. Bob will come to Bible and you’re on the aireful. Good morning Pastor.
Much to him. Good to hear from you. I just got a few things I’d like you to comment on. Sure. I’ve been listening to you talking about Bible versions and I got worried about mine. So I got on your website and downloaded Beware of Scribes. And it took me four or five hours and I went through all 65 lines. And I only had to change two words and I left three alone. So I have every confidence now in my new King James open Bible.
Good. And I thought maybe you could comment on that. And then on that same website, there’s online books. The screen that comes up has articles by Stanford, Schofield, and Ironside. And I would encourage your listeners to click on to them because there’s a tremendous amount of great information on there. And Dr. Stanford’s got an article on predestination. It’s the very best article I’ve ever seen or heard on predestination, and I’m in the process of memorizing that, so I can answer questions on it.
And I wouldn’t mind seeing two or three more of these type of scholars put on that screen. And then the third thing is the state of Christian broadcasting, and I’m very, very discouraged because I get seven-rate channels. And only about a quarter of what I hear, What kids could you call it, rightly dividing the word of God? And people are trying to put us back under the law again, and I don’t see how you can read the Pauline epistles and come to that conclusion, especially if you read Romans 7 and 8 where the law is nailed to the cross.
So I don’t understand that. And then the last thing is the churches. I’ve attended a lot of churches here many, many times. And I’ve yet to hear a sermon on the Pauline Epistles, which the information was given from God, from the ascended Christ himself to Paul, who related to us, it’s for our time, and for our age. And yet we don’t hear anything about it. Now hang up and just listen to your comments. Thank you very much. Thank you, Bob.
You got a lot in there real quickly. Obviously, the translations today are faulty including the New King James, there are a number of things that they do there that are kind of subtle. And we have a sheet that we send out for those who are questioning where it changes things, but it does affect the doctrine of salvation and the doctrines, and so it’s not just changing of the archaic words and WRITE them up to speed. But that book that you mentioned is on our website, it’s called New Age Bible Versions, versions and a very powerful treatment, about 800 pages that will expose about 20 of the new translations and their problems.
On our website we do have a lot of things for you and you mentioned the online books that we have and we have three there right now and we need to add some more but they are wonderful and of course that first one is the book, Handbook on Personal Evangelism and Dr. does have a wonderful simplification of predestination in that particular book. You can really download the whole book for free if you want there. If you’ve got enough paper in your paper drawer of your printer, just go there and bring it up and download as much or as little as you like.
and also the other books there by Dr. Stanford, excuse me Dr. Stofield. A wonderful book there on wrongly dividing the word of truth as we have the one by a C.I.S. Scofield on rightly dividing the word. Well you’re right though, churches today are not teaching the word and that’s the problem and if they only did some kind of a systematic study of the word of God we would get the full counsel of God but I’m afraid that churches They are just giving us snippets and oftentimes they are out of context and are not properly presented.
Bob, thank you for your call and we’re now going to go to Troy in Newport, Richie and Troy, welcome to my blind. You are on the air. Troy? Yes. You’re on the air. Good morning. My question is, how concerned is God with the words that proceed out of our mouth? And how concerned is he with the accuracy of our speech? And if he can give me scriptures to research and reference for this, I would greatly appreciate it. Well, you sure, you know Sure.
You know, God is concerned. Obviously, what we say is very significant. And in John’s gospel, Jesus has a couple of places, I believe, where he says that their own words would condemn them. Because obviously, one day, I think God will play back what we have said and what we have spoken. And if we have not believed on Christ and our rejection of Christ, they’ll I think played back in our ears and the fact that we’ve had opportunities to hear the gospel I think will be shown to us and that would be foolish.
Anyway, it says here in Luke chapter 12, you might want to look this up, it says there is nothing covered that shall not be revealed verse 2 of Luke 12. Neither hid that shall not be known. Therefore, whatsoever you have spoken, and here you have it Bob or Troy, therefore whatsoever you have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light and that which you have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops. So you need to be careful what you say.
That’s a good passage. In Troy I hope that helps you and there are many more and I think if you had a concordance you’d be able to easily find those and get a list of them. I’m going to go now to Melissa in Lakeland, Florida. Melissa, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Hi, Dr. Hake, my question is regarding, again, the difference between baptism in the name of the Lord Jesus and baptism by the Holy Spirit. In Acts 8 where it speaks about the people of Samaria believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God.
And it says they were baptized, but then it says later on, I guess, that they had not received the Holy Spirit and they had to have the apostles lay their hands on them in order to receive the Holy Spirit. So how do you know whether or not you’re really going to receive the Holy Spirit or not? Okay, well the Holy Spirit is received at the moment of belief. Every believer receives the Holy Spirit. In John 7, verse 39, Jesus said the Holy Spirit would be received upon belief or trust in Christ as Savior.
You’ll have the same thing there that these that are in Acts 8 were water baptized but they had not received the Holy Spirit. That tells us they were not saved. In Romans 8 and 9 it says, if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. So the apostles, having discernment, came and followed up on these that Philip had preached to and discovered they were not saved because they did not have the Holy Spirit. And then upon their understanding of the Gospel as they more fully went over it, they believed and received the Holy Spirit on the site.
So the baptism and Holy Spirit occurs at the moment of belief and then water baptism follows. Got a thing about Miami here, Miami. We’re so glad you’re on the air. And we sign off early with you. But keep on listening and keep praying for us. And we are looking forward to being with you all until the Lord comes back. Well, Melissa, I hope that helps a little. But that’s basically what’s going on there. You can be baptized with water, but never be saved.
And this is what happened there in Acts 8. We’re not saved, even though they’ve been water baptized. But the most important baptism is the baptism of the Holy Spirit. In 1 Corinthians 1213, it says every believer has that. It says, by one spirit are we all, A-L-L baptized in the one body, whether we be Jew or Greek or bond or free. We’ve all been made to drink into one spirit. And it’s really the placing of the believer into the very body of Christ.
And the verse 27 tells us the consequence that now you are the body of Christ and members a particular and that occurs at the moment of belief. You become a member of Christ’s body and you become a… Did you have any significance in the fact that they departed with their hands on them in order for them to receive the Holy Spirit? Basically illustrates the washing of our sin by the blood of Christ, but the water doesn’t take away the sin.
Is there any significance in the fact that they get proper blades or hands on them in order for them to receive the Holy Spirit? No, I don’t think so. I think really what they were doing is that they probably had their arms around these guys and were explaining and prayed for them and as they understood it they believed the one… well, laying on the hands had nothing to do with it. Okay, thank you very much. You’re very welcome, Melissa, and we’re now going to go to James in, well I think we’re going to have to hold off James.

We have lots of callers waiting to go here and we’re going to try to take them as quickly as we We have James in Seminole, Florida and James, welcome to Bibleline you are on the air. Good morning, sir.
Good morning. Referring today to 1 Thessalonians 416, I have a quote from Jack Kinsella of the Omega Report. And that quote is, if that event is to take place at some point, after the message occurred by the Antichrist, Paul St. Post next words make very little sense, wherefore comfort one another with these words. Now the question is if there is no rapture for the proteress and the post-tribbers that say after the crib, why is this verse in the Bible?
Well, the whole point is that we don’t go through the Tribulation period at all. Obviously, the next Devanagod’s program is the Rapture. As First Theephite means 110, it leads us to believe. It says, we’re to wait not for the Tribulation. We are to wait for his son from heaven which has delivered us from the wrath which is to come. So we go out and then the tribulation takes place and that’s when of course so many will be martyred for the faith but we are going to, I am leaving and I believe it could be as soon as this year or today we are about ready to be snatched out of here and then the darkest hours of human history will play out on the earth and that’s the time when God is going to be going back to his plan for Israel and the earthly kingdom that he’s promised to
them a thousand years of kingdom up a pace on earth good will toward men the kingdom that he promised from the very beginnings of the earth and so Israel is going to be benefited and they will go through a difficult time but they’re going to survive and many millions of Jews will become saved and recognize Christ as their king and welcome him back to the So that’s the plan. I agree with that. I saw in the National Ocean, Antichrist, and Atmospheric website, 162-foot-way about in the ocean.
One of the Bibleline, I forget, might have been Luke, or says that the sea in the wave will be roaring in the end days. I think that’s the… Very significant. All these things are happening. I saw this morning a big volcano is erupted in Mexico. We know one last week erupted down in Chile, one in Baguarment, for 10,000 years. All of a sudden spewing up volcanic ash and lava. Earthquakes and diverse places. We’ve just seen so many. You’d kill there in China and they’ve had a second earthquake.
And now also there’s a second Storm coming toward Burma where over a hundred thousand people were killed and wow so many things happening All over the world that really lead us to believe that the signs are everywhere a bit of job just said I think yesterday that Israel is doomed that they’re going to be destroyed in a vintage job. Vy Rand wants to be the guy to do that. We’re living in a very interesting time when I think in-time prophecies are coming to light and in such an accelerated rate of these things.
More and more every day, you can hardly keep track. Good. Good. day that relate to prophecy that I think we’re very close. Very close. He’s coming soon. Amen. Thank you. We thank you, James, for calling in and we’re now going to go to, let’s see here. We have Linda in Dunedin and Linda, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Linda, you’re on the air. Good morning, Dr. Hank. How are you? I have a comment because you just mentioned link 12 to what it says for there is nothing and come.
that shall not be revealed in either head, that shall not be known. Just a comment on that yesterday, I listened to an interview by the professor of physics at MIT, and his comment was, it’s not what you cover, it’s what you uncover. I thought that was quite interesting. But getting back to the caller’s question before these gentlemen were asking for the baptism of the Holy Spirit. That is something that we ask the Father. Jesus is the baptized, is through the Holy Spirit.
So when we ask for that prayer language, that is going beyond all understanding on Satan’s part because he cannot understand that prayer language. Let me just stop you. First of all, we don’t ask for the baptism of the Holy Spirit. It’s something that occurs naturally for every believer at the moment of belief. And then there’s nothing in the Bible about any secret prayer language. That is absolutely nonsense and is made up by people who are trying to find a reason for the gibberish that they find themselves with, which I believe is a total counterfeit of the gift of tongues in the Bible.
You know when people try to tell me about a prayer language, God understands English. And it’s not to try to hide the message from Satan either. It’s simply what is being done today is people have this gibberish which is done by all the religion which is not from God, which is from Satan to begin with, and it doesn’t communicate to anybody. Usually the verse that they tried to use to support that is in the book of Romans in chapter 8, where it says likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities, for we know not what we We should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself makeeth intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
I have been in meetings where people are groaning and whatever, and they are trying to tell me that this is the heavenly language that they have. But I tell them this can’t be. Why? Because at the end of chapter 8 of Romans, verse 26, it says these are groanings of the Holy Spirit which cannot be uttered. If any peep, if any noise, it’s audible, comes out of your mouth, then it’s not from God. So these are inaudible utterings of the Holy Spirit as he intercedes on our behalf and praise for us.
And then of course they also say that these are the tongues of angels. If you look over in 1 Corinthians chapter 12 and 13, it says here, and though I speak with the tongues of Ben and angels. Well they try to say that what they are saying is in a tongue of an angel so that is why nobody can understand it. And again they haven’t read their Bible because if you read through your Bible angels are eloquent in their speech and they are always understood by their hearers.
You cannot show me an example in the Bible where an angel ever spoken was not understood by the hearer. You know when the angel Gabriel came to Mary at Nazareth and told her that she was pregnant with the child of the Holy Spirit and that her child would be this one who would be great and called the son of the highest and this would be Jesus. The angel didn’t speak in some gibber. She didn’t say, but he said, oh my God, go, go, go, go, go, go.
And Mary said, my God, what is he saying? He’s very plain Mary. Fear not. you’re highly favored about women and he explains that as a conversation with her she dialogues with the angel so angels speak very plain in whatever language they’re thinking in and so we’re living in a day of very much of confusion and there is no secret prayer languages uh… that reminds me when i was a kid we had to get the cereal box to get the secret decoder ring to be able to understand our friends when they wanted to communicate secret messages back and forth and that God doesn’t do that.
There’s no need to do that and obviously that’s not true. We’re now going to go to Gary in Deltona Florida. Gary, welcome to Bibleline. You’re on the air. Good morning, bastard. I’ve been to your church. I’m Gary from Deltona. Wonderful. And I was just reading in Romans about on the name of the Lord, so I’ll be saved. I believe that’s talking about a saved person. How can you call upon the Lord in 2nd Timothy? I’m going to hang up right now pastor.
I enjoy your show because you comment on this. Well the Wonder Romans is talking about a salvation experience because who servers have called? of call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. The Lord there is Yeshua and Yeshua in English is Jesus and Jesus is God who would come and take on Him and flesh and die to pay for our sins. But calling upon the Lord really is prayer and we find throughout the Bible it says back in Genesis chapter 4 that men began to call upon the name of the Lord.
So we find that wherever you read that expression it’s really praying or calling upon God and when you call upon the name of Jesus as the only means of your salvation then God saves you. But obviously after you’re saved as well we still call upon him for our needs as a believer but to be saved that’s the way we become saved. We connect with God when we call upon him to be our Savior and Jesus is the Savior. I’m talking about that.
Gary, I hope that helps a little bit, and we’re now gonna move on to SIBO or CBO in Riverview, Florida, and welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Hello, you’re here on the air. Yes. Go on. I have a question about when Nicodemus visited Jesus, and this is on a water baptism, when he asked him and here in scripture. Let me see. John three five. Yes. How can a man be born when he is old and Nicodemus asks surely he cannot enter a second time into his mother’s womb?
And Jesus answered, I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. And he’s talking not about baptism at all. There’s the word B-A-P-T-I-Z-E-D is not in the verse of all. B-O-R-N. There’s a tremendous difference. If I were to send somebody to go water baptize, I would probably direct them to a church. But if there’s a mother expecting a baby, I would send her to the hospital. There’s a tremendous difference between being born and being baptized.
They’re not the same at all. And Christ is talking here about a birth and the birth of water there in john three-five is the natural birth where you’re in close to the sack of water in your mother’s womb and then when that water site breaks your out to come and you’re born naturally then it says there’s a birth of the spirit and that is the one you need to have to be saved verse six jesus says that which is born of the flesh is flesh that’s the water birth the natural birth and that which is born of the spirit is spirit totally separate and different And then verse 7 says, Marvel not that I said unto you, you must be born again.
Everybody already has the water birth. When we come into this world after our mother’s water sac breaks, we come out and are born. Then we get the second birth, the birth of the spirit. That’s the one that’s essential to salvation. That happens at the moment of belief. There is no water baptism in John 3. There’s a birth of water. Very welcome and thank you. Many people take John 3 and make baptism out of it and there’s not even anything close to baptism in that chapter.
We’re now going to go to Becky in Richmond, Virginia. Becky, welcome to Bible Life. Yes, sir. This pertains to the rapture. I voted in the Bible that Jesus says command us to watch and look for him. And I wanted to know as believers that some believers are not watching. They kind of fall away for different, during disobedience and stuff like that. I wanted to know, do all believers, are all believers taken up in the rapture, even the ones who aren’t watching?
Okay. And if you go And if you go to 1st of Solomon in chapter 5, it tells us that we ought to be vigilant, Okay. And if you go Okay. we ought to be awake, we ought to be serving and living for Christ as we watch and look for the return of Christ at the rapture. But what a wonderful verse we have there that tells us that whether we are asleep to the switch or whether we’re awake. We’re going to be raptured up.
Let me get this verse here. It’s first, let’s along in chapter 5 verse 10 says, who died for us that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him. And this is in the context of that chapter on the rapture. So whether you’re awake as a Christian or whether you’re asleep as a Christian, you’re going to be caught up to meet the Lord in the air and you’ll be with Him. Okay. Well, that you know the end of your position is what is called a partial rapture where there are those who take care of the Lord.
teach based upon your works and your obedience and whether you are watching or not watching, only those that are really serving are going to be raptured and then there will be other believers who will be left behind. That’s not true. Every believer will be snatched up. And the key is verse 14 of chapter 4. If we believe that Jesus died and rose again, we are going to be with him. That’s the gospel as a message. If you believe the gospel message of the death, the burial and resurrection of Christ is the only means of your salvation.
My friend, you will be raptured. Becky, you will be raptured. And don’t let anybody sell you short on that. Every believer is going to be raptured. And the unbelievers will be left behind. And no believer will be left behind at the event of the rapture. We now have an anonymous scholar from Jacksonville, Florida. And we’re going to go to Jacksonville, Florida. And we have anonymous. Welcome to the Bible and Hi. Yes, good morning, Dr. L and then the other word is Jasha which means salvation.
YHWH has got its personal name, the contraction of it is Yeshua and that is in back in the 1611 time when they translated it Jehovah it was really YAHovah but we don’t have that sound in English, so they translated Jehovah. So it’s either, and of course in English we just say Jesus, which again I think God will allow for that because nobody really knows how to pronounce his name exactly correct. But if you believe in this one who is the creator of the universe, the one who is the author of the scriptures that we have, the one who revealed himself in human flesh in the person of Jesus, when you trust on him, he saves you.
We’re going to Yvonne in Tampa, Florida. Yvonne, welcome to Bibleline you’re on there. Hi. I was listening to your early comments on speaking in tongue that’s unknown to the speaker. Yeah. And in regard to that, in 1 Corinthians chapter 14, to the amplified New Testament, that says, for one who speaks in an unknown tongue speaks not to men, but to God. For no one understands or catches his meaning, because in the Holy Spirit he utters secret truths and hidden things not obvious to the understanding.
Okay, what’s happening in 1 Corinthians 14, too, is the misuse of the genuine gift. The Corinthian believer was speaking to people in the Corinthian church that understood Greek, but they didn’t understand the foreign language gift that they had. And so that’s why the word unknown is in italics throughout the chapter. It’s added by the translators. They were trying to let us know that this was a known language, but it was unknown to the hearer. So basically, if somebody spoke in Russian in the Greek church, then nobody would, in the church would understand him.
Only God would understand Russian, but nobody in the Greek church would. And so he said, as far as the person in the congregation would be concerned, it would be a mystery of what was being said. They wouldn’t understand it. And it’s quite clear in the chapter that it’s talking here about speaking words that would communicate. It says in verse 9. So likewise, ye, except ye uttered by the tongue, words easy to be understood. How shall it be known when it is spoken?
You just speak into the air. So the same thing as verse two. If you are speaking in a language that’s not understood by the hearer, then you’re wasting everybody’s time. And that thought carries throughout the whole chapter here. It says here in verse 7. 15. What is it then? I will pray with the Spirit. I’ll pray with the understanding also. I will sing with the Spirit. I’ll sing with the understanding also. What is saying there is that you would sing or pray in a language that the person would understand so that they would know what you’re saying.
Birth 26 really clarifies that by saying then else when thou shalt bless with the Spirit, how shall he that occupyeth the room of the unlearned say Amen at thy giving of thanks, sing, He does not understand what you are saying. He will not understand if you are not using his language. This was the misuse. So it is not a secret prayer language. It is not speaking to God in a special language. It is really saying that if you don’t speak in the language that the Hero can understand, then you are only really speaking to God because you have excluded everyone else.
The purpose of the gift of tongues was to speak to the lost in their language and they would understand it and they would become saved. This is not a proof text and certainly the thought there is to be able to communicate in the language of the people and the Corinthians were acting like babies and they were showing off their gift rather than using it as it should be. If you have children you know what they’ll do. If you have guests over they come coming out of the bedroom and they’ll drag some noisy toy and they’ll walk right in the middle of your guest and they want to show off.
Paul was saying that they needed to grow up and realize that tongues was for communication. Verse 20 later in the chapter says, Brethren, be not children in understanding. How be it in malice be like children, but in understanding be like men. And then he explains that God’s purpose for this age was to evangelize the Jewish people in Gentile languages. And that’s why he gave the gift of these Gentile languages at Pentecost. And there were 16 countries that are named there by name in Acts 2.
And those people from all of those countries where they had been born and raised in a Gentile language heard the gospel in the very dialect of that language. And that’s why 3000 people got saved. They were communicating the gospel to these unsaved Jews from all over the world in the very language that they were born and raised in. They said, how is it that we hear in the language, the dialect that we were born and raised with? These were uneducated Jewish men, the apostles that were speaking these languages and they understood.
It was clearly not a secret prayer language. First Corinthians 14, too, is not speaking of something that is secret either. talking about the misuse and if I were to speak, for example, nobody in my church I don’t think would understand Russian, if I gave a sermon in Russian I would be speaking to God only, He’d be the only one in my audience because nobody else in my church would understand Russian. So I deliver my messages in English as this radio program is in English so that you can understand what I’m saying and that’s what was happening in Corinth.
But if I switched a language up here where you didn’t understand that language and I’d be wasting your time and mine and God would listen to me but he’d be the only one hearing me. I hope that helps and I think that person is gone. Thank you so much for calling in. This is Bibleline and again I hope everybody is listening and is careful to take a look at the Bible afresh and in 1 Corinthians 14 we find the whole chapter is talking about the misuse of the genuine gift.
And by the way, if you follow the rules about the real gift and they applied even to this false gift today, it would cease overnight because it says in verse 34, let your women keep silence in the churches. 95% of the people that speak in the gibberish today are women and if they were not allowed to say a word in their church in gibberish, I think the movement would die overnight. They don’t follow the rules, obviously. People are speaking in the gibberish in church when women are not to say a peep in tongues in church.

We just enjoy being with you every day and God bless all of you who listen. The Bible is the Word of God and we believe the Bible is the authority and that is the book that we quote and use here on the program. And oftentimes we find that people are really believing the Bible.
They pick up on something and then they go a totally different correction. I don’t know about you but I guess it’s my background. I was a graduate electrical engineer from the University of Florida. A plus B had equal C and a lot of times people are making things out of the Bible that are not even there. They make them up. And then they propagate them and people believe them and it’s really amazing how far away we can drift from the Bible if we’re not careful.
In any case we have lots of all fair questions. We’ll try to catch up on those tomorrow. We’d love to hear from you tomorrow and I hope you’ll call us. And again, don’t forget to use our internet which is a great way to keep up with Bible line on radio, on television and on our worship services, our online bookstore and everything.
