Welcome to Bibleline with Dr. Hank Lindstrom. Coming to you from Calvary Community Church in Tampa, Florida declaring God’s love through radio and television, providing real answers to an ever-searching world. Got a question? Dial toll free at 1-800-576-3771. Now here’s the host of Bibleline Dr. Hank Lindstrom. Good morning and welcome to our lives. I’m Dr. Angelina Sherman. I’m Bree. Today’s report I’ve been in the hospital and even this morning, but we are going to play a best job. Hopefully you’ll enjoy the radio show and I hope that you’ll put me on your playlist and pray for me and my family and pray for our Bibleline ministry.
We are now past the season trumpet, so apparently the Lord has been away another year before he comes at least, and we are excited about the fact that he’s coming. He’ll be coming soon, but don’t discount the fact that he’s coming. The next feast in that line is the feast of atonement, and the Jewish people every year, of course, but take 10 days between the Feast of Trumpets and the Feast of Atonement to go over their sins and atone for them, and then their name is put back in the Book of Life.
That’s not true, but that’s what they believe. And then for the next year, they hope to do well so they can keep the name in the book. Obviously, salvation is a gift, and one name is in the Book of Life to begin with, and if you trust the Lord as your Savior, you can stay in the books forever and you name will never be plotted out according to Revelation 3 5. Your name is in there permanently once you trust the Lord.
In really we ought to have a good lesson today in the Bible and I hope you’ll enjoy the program and you’ll welcome the call in Bible and it will need your financial help if you can help us and pray for us. That would be great and pray that the Lord will be done in me at getting out of this hospital and you’re welcome to call the church for any information concerning my address if you want to mail a card or whatever.
Thank you so much and enjoy the program today. I’m Dr. Inge from coming to you live from my hospital room here in Santa Clara. At 11 a.m. and as soon as I begin the message the video and the audio will come up and you’ll be able to watch it. from wherever you are on the planet Earth. And that really truly is exciting. And I hope that you’ll take advantage. Our bookstore also is there. Click on the online bookstore and that is our Resource Center.
And if you want a resource sheet sent out to you, we can do that. Give us a call give us your number and or your address it will mail you a resource sheet We are excited about the fact the Lord could be back this coming Tuesday or Wednesday of next week There’s a two-day Jewish holiday called the Feast of Trumpets. It’s Russia Shana. It’s the Jewish New Year It’s the feast we believe that whatever year Christ returns they don’t come on that peace day.
Wouldn’t that be something that will be out of here and will meet the Lord in the air? I’m not saying He’s coming this year, but boy, you can’t say He won’t be coming or He couldn’t come or He might not come because He truly might come this year and that’s the most reasonable date. We’ve talked about it many times, but there are seven peace days in the Bible. In Leviticus 23 you get all seven of them in one chapter and they’re all prophetic pictures casting shadows of future things that are going to take place on the planet and the first is the Feast of Passover and guess what?
Jesus died as the fulfillment of that Passover feast. That happened in Egypt, you might remember, and they had to take what? Alam and slay it and apply its blood and that’s a picture of Jesus. When you applied the blood of Christ by trusting that He died for you and paid your sin debt until it was buried and rose again from the dead, the Bible tells us that you are then going to be passed over by God when He comes in judgment.
Everybody that has believed on Christ will be exempted from death and be able to live with the Lord forever and ever in heaven. And it’s because of the Passover Lamb. He was buried during the Feast of Heaven and Bread. He rose from the dead on the Feast of First Fruit Stay. The Bible is clear to say that Christ is the fulfillment of that feast day in the New Testament. And we find the fourth feast, the fourth one, was Pentecost.
And that’s when this age began. The church age began on a Sunday. That’s when the church was born. There was no Old Testament church. The church was born. did not exist before Pentecost. And just as that feast began it, it happened on that feast day that the Holy Spirit came and the church was begun. Well guess what? The feast of trumpets, the next feast, the fifth one, will conclude this age and that’s why the rapture happens on this one that we’re talking about.
So it’s next Tuesday and Wednesday. September 30th, October 1st, a two-day celebration and you’ll find Jewish people around the world pausing to celebrate their new year and it’s on this holiday that Jesus will come back what every year he comes and I don’t know if you’re excited but I am and it is exciting to think that wow we could be out of here in just a couple of days and if you look at the world events that are certainly signs of the return of Christ, we’ve got to be getting close.
It could be. No doubt about it. It could be this year. I’m not saying for certain it is. And by the way, if he does come this year, we’re canceling the trip to Israel. But otherwise, you can go ahead and call and get that pro-shear. And we’ll go this coming February to Israel if he doesn’t come this year. So it’s exciting to be living in a time when you can be watching for the return of Christ and believe that you’re reasonably sure that he’s that close that you could be watching for him to come in the next few days.
I don’t know about you, but I’m walking extra high on my tippy toes, getting ready to leave the planet if it’s possible that it happens this year, and that would be exciting. There’s a group of people that will never die according to the Bible. It will be alive when Jesus comes and they’ll bodily be caught up to meet the Lord in the And from that point on, there will be forever with the Lord in heaven what an exciting thing.
Do you have your Bible handy? We’re going to take a look at a couple of scriptures. You know, Jesus, when you trust Him as your Savior, gives eternal life. Let me give you a great verse, John 647. Jesus says, barely, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me. That word, believeth, means the trust to rely upon, to put your confidence in, to rest your weight upon. When you trust Christ as your only hope of heaven, he says that you will have present tense everlasting life.
Amazing the devil doesn’t like this verse. If you have the new American standard translation, guess what it reads. He that believes has eternal life. out on whom to believe. Isn’t that terrible? I mean, it’s meaningless. Who leaves what? On whom? It doesn’t say in the New American Standard. That’s why I don’t like that translation. It leaves out things, that one phrase where Jesus says Satan, get behind me, totally gone from the New American Standard. Other verses attacked the deity of Christ, New American Standard.
I wouldn’t want that one. By the way, we have a wonderful book here at our resource Center called New Age Bible Versions that covers about 20 of the latest versions that are out there and shows the difficulties, the problems that are brought about by some of these new ones. And you might be carrying one of them and you might want to be warned and informed that maybe you have a flawed Bible in your hand, which you don’t want to have, but a many, many today do.
In any case, Jesus said he gives you eternal life. Eternal is eternal. If you have eternal life today, it will be eternal life tomorrow. It will be eternal life next week and so on and so on. There are many, many, I would say, the majority of those who claim to be Christian teach you can lose your salvation. Now if you believe you can lose it, you are really saying that you have to be saved by works. subtle and a lot of people say I’m not trusting in my works but when you really Based on with what is going on here, they have to admit that they are.
Let me just tell you what I do. I ask a person, you tell me what you believe. Let’s see if I’ve got it right. Let’s say that between right now and when you die, if you live the Christian life faithfully, you’ll go to heaven. Is that what you’re teaching? Oh, they say, yes, absolutely. That’s right. If you live the Christian life, faithfully, you’re going to go to heaven. heaven. And then I say, well, let me ask you this. What if you don’t live the Christian life successfully and you die?
What will happen then? Oh, you go to hell. Now wait a minute, wait a minute. You’re telling me that what you do between now and your death is what determines whether you’re saved or not. And that’s works, that’s works, that’s works, and the Bible is very clear that salvation is not of works, lest any man should boast or brag. So when you face them up with the reality of it, they’re really going to have to admit that they’re trusting in their works, and that makes them the Savior, not Christ, and they’re putting in trust in what they’re going to do or not going to do and not what on Christ has done for you.
The test of the true gospel is always this. I hope you’ll catch this. And that is the false gospel. Satan always points the lost and dying sinner to his own future and says salvation rests upon what you do or what you do not do in your future. That’s always the false plan of salvation because it focuses on man and man’s works and man’s needs and that’s your works and your deeds. The true plan of salvation always points the lost nine sinner back to the cross of Calvary.
And what happened at the cross? Jesus said, it is finished. It’s finished. It really means from the Greek language in which it was written, paid and full. That full satisfaction was received from the sin debt by Christ’s death. He paid it all, not just part. paid for every sin you’d ever commit in your whole lifetime. And so when you look at the plan of salvation and you’re looking at what people are telling you that you have to do to be saved, if the focus is on what your future holds for you, what you’re going to do or not going to do, that’s a false plan of salvation and you’re probably not saved, you’re probably really trusting in your works and what you’re going to do or not going to do.
But the true You plan on salvation will always point you back to the cross where Jesus is the Savior who said it’s finished, it’s done, it’s completed, it’s over, there’s nothing else necessary. And all you have to do is believe or trust on me and you’ll have everlasting life. It’s a simple difference, but you know, most of what I heard all my life was that I had to change, that I had to join, that I had to climb, that I had to whatever.
And it was all based on what I was going to do. And that’s what determined whether I was saved or not. There’s no place in the Bible that says you have to change in order to be saved. And that’s amazing. I think a lot of people are shocked. And you know, it’s amazing that the Bible teaches that you are saved just like you are, just like you are. After you become saved, the Holy Spirit comes into your life and can give you the power to have victory over sin and the little life that God can bless and reward.
My friend, there is nothing in the way of a change required for you to be saved. The Bible doesn’t say change and I’ll save you. It doesn’t say turn from your sin and I’ll save you. It doesn’t say turn over a new leaf and I’ll save you. It simply says come. Come. Jesus said, He that believeth on me has everlasting life. I hope you have an accepted the false plan which obviously again points to your life and you’re changing.
You know that puts the responsibility on you and makes you the Savior and makes it you’re the one responsible to get yourself saved and that’s certainly not the truth at all. We are living in a time when we’re given a false message left and right every day. The true message is that Jesus is the Savior, He fully paid your sin debt. He was buried. He rose again from the dead. When you trust in his death and blood and shed blood at the cross, as the only means of your salvation, he saves you eternally.
And I hope you have understood that. We are now going to go to the phone lines. I’m Dr. Hank Lindstrom and this is Bibleline. And we have callers from all over and we’re going to go up to Pittsburgh in just a second in Pennsylvania. And the phone number, if you want to call in is 1-800-570-47 We have collars from all over and we’re going to go up to Pittsburgh in just a second in Pennsylvania. The phone number if you want to call in is 1-800-576-876.
That’s 1-800-576-3771. And we’re now going to go to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. We have Vivian waiting patiently. Vivian, welcome to ByBlind. You’re on 9. Hi, Pastor Vain. I have a question for you. Two weeks ago you mentioned, um, Thomas, Chris, and the Deep. wonder to humans as that? Well, a lot of churches are a part of what is called counterfeit Christianity. Any church that teaches that you have to work or do something to be saved other than faith alone in Christ is a part of counterfeit Christianity.
I have another question for you. The Orthodox Church claimed there was a First Church because Paul stored all those churches in Asia Minor. What do you think about that? Well, obviously the apostles are the foundation, the poem which the church is built, they started most of the New Testament churches, but we are directly linked to the Bible, not to not to any oral traditions or any other authorities coming down through any particular organization or denomination. Every church today has the Word of God as its authority and as its book to tell us what to do.
Christ is the head today living alive and able to guide and direct us. And so we don’t need to look backward. We need to look forward and into God’s Word and let him teach us and guide us and direct us. Okay. Thank you very much. You’re so welcome, Vivian. Thank you for listening in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. We now have Corral in Miami, Florida and Corral. Welcome to my line. You are on the air. Good morning. How are you? Good morning.
Good. I have a two-part question for you. And the Hebrew language, okay, when did the files. The equal language always had a file. Good morning. And if not when did they start adding files in the language? They never did have hells. And that’s. And that’s the problem when you try to even pronounce God’s name. The God’s name is Four Consonants and they didn’t have any vowel sounds and the pronunciation was forgotten. And so today we guess that I pronounce his name.
Many take the Four Consonants YH, FBA and pronounce it Yahweh, but in 1611 they pronounce that Yahol-Vah or Jehovah is the way we pronounce that. Nobody’s for sure, but they didn’t have vowel sounds. What about Adonai and Ilohim and Ngipu? How are they written Ngipu, Adonai and Ngipu? The Hebrew letters, I’m not too sure of hand, but if you have a skill-feel Bible, it does a good job on these names of God and shows you. the words from which they’re coming to us from and their meaning.
But these are all, you know, the Jewish people weren’t afraid of pronouncing most words and those have been carried down to us. But the name of God wasn’t because he were afraid to violate the commandment. It says I shall not take the name of the Lord I got in vain. Okay, so basically, I do not know if it was not spelled the way that we’re by the equals. Well… Well… Well, we spell it in English, ardenoy, but it’s the English adaptation for us, but that’s probably probably correct.
That’s probably correct. Okay, so it’s really true that the Hebrew language never did have vowels. I mean, is that the only language known for man that doesn’t have… I don’t know the answer to that, and we’ll have to maybe appeal to somebody in our audience that might know. Okay. All right. I’ve got the information that’s done. All right. Good questions. Thank you for calling in for Miami. We have now Nick in Tampa, Florida. Nick. Welcome to Bibleline. You are on the air.
Nick. Hello, Nick. I guess Nick is not there. We’re now going to go to Jerry in Plant City and Jerry. Welcome to Bibleline. What are you getting excited? Good. Oh, Jesus. Come on. in explain and then after two verses 16 and 17 I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you brother. Matthew 5 17, Christ is talking about the Bible, the Word of God. He did not come to do away with the Old Testament Scriptures, which are called the law. But in Colossians, he is talking about the actual ordinances, the actual rules that were given from Mount Sinai, and he did come to abolish that.
And he died on the cross because he was able to take our sins and fully pay for them and satisfy the demands of the law at the cross, and so he took that out of the way. And certainly we are not obligated to do anything in the law for Mount Sinai to get ourselves to heaven. Jesus Christ is the only Savior. He fully met the demands of the law, and so when you trust Christ, God sees you as though you had never broken law.
He sees you as righteous. In fact, as righteous as God, according to the Bible. Colossians 2 is talking about the ordinances that were written from Mount Sinai by 9517 is talking about the Scriptures, which are also called the Law of the Lord. I hope that helps and thank you for that call. Jerry, and I’m glad you’re excited that the Lord is coming and I’m excited too. Let’s see here. Adrian in Miami and Adrian welcome to Bibleline your on the air and make sure you turn your radio down Adrian because we can hear that radio feeding back Adrian you’re on the air good morning good morning.
Yes, sir Yeah, I wanted to know if you can explain a little better One save always saves because I think it’s a little confusing. I agree with you once they’ve always saved but there should be a but if a person supposedly accepts Christ supposedly saved but then lives a life of stealing, cheating, abusing and not living as a Christian I think maybe political explanation if you can explain that a little further not that he loses his salvation that perhaps he was never saved if you could just elaborate on that a little bit more just to make I don’t know if you understand.
Sure, I do understand. Thank you, Adrian. Thank you, but I tell you the answer is that when you trust Christ, you’re saved forever. But if you’re going to be delinquent, God will spank you. It says in Hebrews 12, 6, for whom the Lord loves, he chastens or disciplines and he scourges every son whom he receives. So if you become received in the God’s family by the new birth, by trusting Christ, then God is going to discipline you when you are delinquent.
He promises to reward you if you are obedient. So obedience will be rewarded, there are degrees of reward in heaven, there are five crowns that the Christian can earn, but the delinquent Christian will be disciplined and maybe even taken home early to be with the Lord. If you read 1 Corinthians 11 verse 30, because of the sin in the life of the Corinthian believers. After they were saved, it says for this cause many of you are made weak, many are sickly, and many of you have died.
So the Lord took some of them home to heaven early. And it goes on to say in verse 32 that when we as believers are judged, 1st Corinthians 11, 32, we are chastened or discipline of the Lord that we should not be condemned with the world. So the world is going to be judged differently and they will be cast into hell, but the Christian when he sins will be disciplined and will suffer the loss of reward. So as a believer you cannot live as you please and get away with it.
God will thank you. He might even take you home to heaven sooner than you planned on going. I’m not sure hope that helps you with that question, Adrian. And a lot of people are concerned about that. But if you’re truly saved, God is going to be all over your case and He will follow you up. You know, when I trusted Christ… I was just out of high school. I went off to the University of Florida. I was a secret believer.
Nobody, nobody knew that I was a believer. And nobody on the University of Florida campus knew that I was a believer. So I was operating undercover. But you know, God knew that I was a believer. And that coming year, God worked on me and brought me finally to the place about a year after I got there where I’d Nilled in my dorm room and dedicated my life to serve the Lord and I’ve been serving him ever since and you know God Followed me up and he Brought some discipline into my life that brought me to the place where I said Lord.
I’m not gonna fight you I’m gonna serve you and I chose to live for Christ not to be saved but because I was saved Hope that helps and thank you. We’re now gonna go to Carl in Camp, Florida Carl Welcome to Bibleline. All right, we have to go to break here. And so I hope you’ll catch Carl in just a minute when I get back from this break time. And we have to take a break. We’ll come back and do a second and a half hour.
So I hope you’ll join me for the second half hour of Bibleline. And keep you ready to write where it is, and we’ll be right back. Don’t go away. Bibleline will be back in a moment. Give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Good morning and welcome to Bibleline, I’m Dr. Andrew L. Truman. I’m bringing to the report I’ve been in the hospital and even this morning, but we are going to play a best job. Hopefully you’ll enjoy the radio show and I hope that you’ll put me on your playlist.
and pray for me and my family, and pray for our pipeline ministry. We are now past the Feast of Trumpets. Apparently the Lord has been away another year before he comes at least, and we are excited about the fact that he’s coming, and he’ll be coming soon, but don’t discount the fact that he’s coming. The next feast in that line is the Feast of Atonement. And the Jewish people every year, of course, take 10 days between the Feast of Trombets and the Feast of Atonement to go over their sins in a tone for them.
And then their name is put back in the Book of Life. That’s not true, but that’s what they believe. And then for the next year they hope to do well so they can keep their name in the book. Obviously, salvation is a gift that one name is in the book of life to begin with, and if you trust them, or does your Savior, you name them, stay in the book forever. And your name will never be plotted out according to Revelation 3.5.
Your name is in there permanently once you trust the Lord. Anyway, we have a good lesson today in the Bible, and I hope you’ll enjoy the program, and you’re welcome to call in, by the way. It’s your financial health if you can help us and pray for us. That would be great and pray that the Lord will be down in the beginning of this hospital. And you’re welcome to call the church for any information concerning my address if you want to mail a card or whatever.
Thank you so much and enjoy the program today. I’m Dr. Inhjes from the United States of the House of the Room here in Santa Barbara. there Mail or order over the internet or order by phone, and our operators would be happy to help you place that order, just call and place it. In any case, we thank you for listening, and we hope that you’re telling your friends about the program, and especially those that are overseas, because with the internet they’re able to get our program anywhere in the world.
Well we’re going to rejoin the stations that have been on break and come back and do the second half hour of Bibleline and we don’t want to miss a beat so I hope you’ll keep your radio right where it is and I hope you’ll join me now for the second half hour and we’re going to do that right now. so keep your radio tuned exactly where it is.
Would you like to call Bibleline and ask Dr. Lindstrom a question? You can. Just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3771. Now here again is Dr. Hank Lindstrom. All right, we’re back from that break and this is Bibleline and here we are in Tampa, Florida at our studios talking to you wherever you might be listening from and it’s exciting that we can be able to do that. Wow, the technology allows for us to be in one spot and talk to so many and we’re so glad that you’re able to listen in and that we can have this conversation right now.
If you have a Bible question, we will definitely try to answer that for you. I remember several people here as of late telling me they had a Bible question. One lady in particular said that she asked her pastor a Bible question. He said, submitted in writing and give me eight weeks. She said, I don’t have eight weeks. She called my Bible and he had her answer within a few minutes. Isn’t that wonderful? It’s amazing to me how we’re able to do that and be a blessing.
I had my attorney call me from the other side of the state here, a bunch of men having a Bible study this morning. He said, I hate to impose on you, but we have a couple questions. So I answered some questions before the radio for a Bible study up in another part of the state of Florida. And I thought it was calling me about a legal question that he’s calling me about a Bible question. Heaps of the Bible and share the Gospel.
Isn’t that wonderful? And so that’s what we try to do here on Bible. And just answer your questions and give you a straight answer right from the Bible. And if we don’t know the answer, we’ll try to look it up or find it. And some questions just can’t be answered. They’re just not mentioned in the Bible. So we have to wait patiently till we get to be with the Lord in heaven and then he’ll answer those questions for us in person.
We’re going to go to another Carl. We have a lot of callers sitting there waiting and that number by the way is 1-800-576-3771. 1-800-576-3771. So here we go to Carl in Tampa and Carl, thank you for being patient and hopefully we can answer your question. Yeah, I actually don’t have a question. I just want to make a statement here. And people talk about, you know, when they say, I feel what not. Well, you know, if I was speaking about that, we’re born again.
And obviously that means that we will imagine an infant being born. And once he’s born into flesh, say, no, I can live my life anywhere I want, I can do whatever I want and without any consequences. And so being born again, born in the spirit is no different in being born in the fact that we are there are consequences uh… there are do something really crazy in the you really might end up dying born again doesn’t mean that we have the right to do whatever we want or i just want to know what you thought about that that analogy of uh…
you know for birth which is the whole we do there and obviously it’ll be consequences on the second birth which is a the spirit well absolutely i agree with a hundred percent and uh… well when you are born again you become god’s child But if you’re obedient, God promises to bless you, and we’re encouraged throughout the whole of the Scriptures to be obedient as His servants. And He promises to reward us for our faithful service. And Jesus, even in the Sermon on the Mount, says, lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, not on the earth.
because obviously he wants us to serve him and live for him and have rewards in heaven because this world is only temporary and whatever things that we earn and build up here are going to be lost we can’t take it with us, but we can lay up treasures ahead of us in heaven and although our behavior has nothing to do with our salvation it does affect our rewards and And it does affect whether God will discipline us or not.
I was my dad’s child and my mom’s child whether I was obedient or not. But whether I got an allowance, whether I was given special privileges, whether I was allowed to have freedom was dependent upon my obedience as a child. When I was this obedient, I was restricted and I couldn’t go out on the weekend and a lot of things became difficult for me. And that was a part of being raised up and they’re helping to raise me in a proper way.
And God does the same thing. And if we’re disobedient, God is going to spank us. Sure do thank you, Carl. I agree with you on that and thank you for that call. we don’t have met you in spring hill florida and i’m happy welcome to buy one you are on here morning i just want to say when we’re born in the flesh were born in slavery to send but christ died for us and purchased us and when we’re born again for me to play forgot and it’s got to live in us uh…
because we’re dead you know and and god lives in a to do is good wellness that president uh… i just want to say that on the peak about the gospel uh… reach in the four corners of the world, is that one of the conditions for the rapture or for Christ second coming? It’s talking really about the gospel of the kingdom and it’s a condition for the second coming, not the rapture. It says in Matthew 2414, when this gospel of the kingdom is preached into all the world, then Christ will come back.
And of course the gospel of the kingdom is the good news message of the kingdom being preaching. It’s not being preached by anybody today that I know of, but the fact that the millennium is upon us and the fact that Christ is the king coming to set up his reign on the earth, that will be preached during the tribulation period and it will be preached into all the world and then Christ will return. So it’s a sign for the second coming.
Okay, so if people are anticipating that that’s a condition preaching the kingdom but we’re instead preaching the gospel. Amen. Amen. All right. My second question is what is the difference between a dispensation and a covenant question because I’m trying to get a clear understanding of the difference between dispensational theology and covenant theology. Well, this sensation is an age or a period of time during which man is tested in regard to some specific revelation from God. And there are seven in the Bible, and the Bible doesn’t make any sense unless you see it in that way.
The Bible certainly teaches that there are different ages. You can see that in Ephesians chapter 3 in particular. And there in Ephesians it names three dispensations by name. Ephesians 3-2 talks about the dispensation of grace, which is the age which we’re in that began at Pentecost that we’ll end up to Rapture. It also mentions that Ephesians 1, 10, and 11, the dispensation of the fullness of time. That’s the millennium. When the heavens will rule over the earth, it describes that.
And that is a dispensation in itself. And then there’s the dispensation of law that began at Mount Sinai and was interrupted at Calvary. But there’s seven more years to tick off the clock for the dispensation of law. And that is what the tribulation period is all about. So those are three that are mentioned directly by name, by title. But a covenant is obviously a contract. And the contract for salvation is the one that is unilateral. God chose to save all that would believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.
And He makes a covenant with all that would believe that He would save them eternally and and they would be His children forever and ever and ever. And obviously the New Testament is really another word for the New Covenant and the 27 books of the New Testament are the fine print of God’s covenant with man that all that would leave on Christ would be saved and saved eternally. Amen. So, in Jeremiah 3rd Covenant, is that just the church age or is that actually?
You know, it’s for eternity. From the time that Christ died, that covenant came into force, it had been promised. But it became enforced when Christ shed his blood. That was the blood that ratified the new covenant. Jesus said in the Lord’s Supper, this cup represents my blood, which is the blood of the new covenant. So the covenants usually in the Bible were ratified by blood. And Christ shed his own blood to make it effectively the new covenant. I want to just one last thing.
In Psalm 89, could you comment on that real quickly and if that’s a proof text for eternal security and thank you. Alright, I’m going to take a look back there. I don’t know of hand but we’re going to go back there. Psalm 89 and I’m almost there. Psalm 89 and I’m turning right now. Psalm 89, beginning verse 31, I believe you said. It says here verse 34 says, by covenant, will I not break nor alter the thing that goes forth out of my lips.
You’re for sure. He’s saying here he’s never going to change his word. He’s going to do exactly what he promised and if you become a believer you have the promise that he’ll never lose you or cast you out but you’re saved eternally. We’re not going to go to Jim in Tampa, Florida and Jim welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Jim you’re on the air. Yeah. Yeah you’re on the air. I’m sorry I had to put to speak off.
I have a question I’ve been listening to you for maybe over a year now and you have talked about the Bible being, it should be taken. Can you explain to me How literally Matthew 5 verse 29 and 30 coming. Alright, Matthew chapter 5 and I’m almost there. Matthew 5 verse 29 where it says, and if thy right eye offend thee, it out and cast it from thee for if it is profitable for thee for one of my members that they should perish and not your whole body that they should be cast in to help.
Well, I think it’s very literal. I don’t know if you heard my story, but there’s one story I relate to a lot. I had a young man in my church, his parents were wealthy, and he was a young jet-setter and he was unsaved. The dad was very concerned about him because he was ready to take a trip around the world by himself and the dad was concerned about him and making sure he was saved. So he scheduled an appointment with me and the son was a real character.
He came into my office and he pointed at his wristwatch and shared with me what time it was on his his wristwatch and said, you’ve got one hour, give it your best shot. Well, I explained the gospel to him and I did everything I could to lead him to Christ, but he wasn’t budging, he wasn’t going anywhere. And I asked him, I said, what would it take for you to trust the Lord? What would it take to God to get your attention?
And he didn’t have an answer. And I said, well, what if God were to take away maybe your health? What if you left here and got in a car accident and were terribly injured? Would that get your attention? Would you believe? He said, no, anybody could have a car accident any time that wouldn’t mean anything. And I said, well, what if we got pretty specific and said that your right leg would be cut off in the accident? Would that commit?
That’s certainly possible that I would happen to anybody. And I said, well, what if we got real specific and said exactly four inches below the knee. Your leg was cut off, severed, straight off. And I said, you know, if that’s what it would take for you to come to know Christ, I believe if you agreed with me and we prayed that here today, it would happen. I said, would you let me pray that prayer? And he said, no, no, he didn’t want me to pray that prayer.
So we talked and I said, well, could we just pray a general prayer that God would do whatever took in your life to get your attention so you would trust the Lord? And he said, yes. So he prayed and he left and I didn’t see him for a long time. He came back to me about a year later. He said, you know, I went on that trip and I said, never forgot your words. I know more than got to Africa, the first step on my journey in Kenya.
And I contracted hepatitis. I wound up in the hospital there, nearly died. I was in the hospital for six months. Never got to go on the rest of my trip. And they had to fly me back to the States for treatment. I was in the hospital for many months after I got back. But he said, you know, he says, I trusted Christ. That’s my savior. Wow, that was exciting. And you know, not only did he trust the Lord of Savior, he became a missionary, and he’s a missionary in South America.
It was very day. And it all came about because God, God is attention with that. But I was telling him about that passage in the Bible that if you were to lose a foot or an eye or a hand, that would be better, God said, and if you lost your whole body to be cast into hell. And so sometimes… So we’re referring to self-infliction. Huh? Why the 29 and 30 were referring to self-infliction? I don’t think it’s really talking about self-infliction.
It’s talking about that if it has to be taken away, that it’d be better for you to lose that body part to wind up at recognizing your need to come to know the Lord. So we’re not talking literally here then. Yeah we are. It’d be better to pluck out your eye, but I don’t think it’s really meaning for you to go ahead and reach out and grab your own eyeball and pull it out. The point is. I’m not meaning literally.
OK. Well, whatever you want to tell you. But the point is, it’s still there. The point is that if you’re completely physically whole and you live out your life and yet go to hell, that doesn’t make any sense. God said it would be better for you to be injured or halt or maimed and discover the truth and come to know Lord the Lord then to be completely whole and wind up with your full body being cast into the lake of fire.
Anyway, I hope that helps and the answer is that God has a literal meaning there but He’s talking about it would be better if your eye were plucked out. I don’t think He saw my u-plucking your own eyeball out. All right, we’re going to go to Chris and Turkey Creek and Chris. Welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air All right, we did that earlier in the program and basically the feast days all were prophetic pictures of the two comings of Christ the seven feast days the first four they’re all in Leviticus 23 Recommend you read that chapter The first four had to do with the first coming Christ died on the Feast of Passover, buried during the Feast of the Vunleven Bread, rose from the dead on the Feast of First Fruits, and on Pentecost the fourth feast, the Holy Spirit came, and this present age began
the age where God has turned to us Gentiles. The next three feasts during the fall of the year, and they speak about second coming events, the next feast, the Feast of Trumpets, I believe will conclude this age, And that’s the rapture. When the Jewish people celebrate, they will blow the shofar, the horn, the rams horn for the two days. And on the last day, they finally have a long blowing on that horn that they call the last Trump. The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 15 that we go up to meet the Lord in the air on the last Trump.
Trump. So whatever year it happens, perhaps it’s when the rabbis are playing the last Trump. That is when we go up. It’s a picture of Christ playing that Trump that we go out on to meet the Lord of the Year. And then the next beast, the sixth one, is called the Feast of Atonement. It’s a picture of the tribulation period where God will bring the the Jewish people through the fires of tribulation and prepare them for their king to come.
And it’s a time of atonement for Israel and God bringing them and getting them right before he comes back to be their king and their savior. And then the Feast of Tabernacles is a picture of the whole millennium, the thousand year reign of Christ. And it’s a picture of Christ pavernackling here on the earth in a human body. He is a very net thousand year period where Christ will be ruling on the earth. So that’s a brief summary. There are books out that describe each feast in greater detail and whatever.
But basically you have the outline and they’re obviously forecasting a picture from the Old Testament of the different major events in the life of Christ in his first coming and his second coming. So hopefully that helps. And thank you, Chris, for that call. And we’re now going to go to Ann in Needon. Ann, welcome to Bible Ann. Ann, are you there? Hello Ann. Hello. Hi, you’re on the air. Okay, thank you. I’m calling about judged by your works in the book of Revelation, 1-8-13, sound 62-12 and every man shall be judged according to his works.
And you’re saying that you aren’t saved by your works, so I’m wondering what that means. Well, it’s a good question. And the answer is if you wind up being judged by your works, you’re going to go to hell. The ones that are judged by their works are assigned a degree of punishment in hell based upon their works works and they’ll be separated from God forever and ever and ever. If your works are the basis of your plea to inner heaven, you’ll be denied entrance.
The Bible tells us in Isaiah 64, 6 that all of our righteous nieces are righteous acts or deeds are guilty rags in the sight of God. If you were to stand before God and say, look at all these wonderful things that I’ve done. great I’ve been. I’ve been religious, I’ve read my Bible, I’ve gone to church, I’ve helped my neighbors, I’ve done all these wonderful things. Christ will say when he looks at that pile of works, it’s a pile of filthy rags.
It is not deserving of your entering heaven. And so you’ll be denied entrance. You have to have the righteousness of God or Christ to enter heaven. And that comes only by faith in Christ. So I’m going to be judged on the basis of Christ’s death at Calvary and He shed blood. Thank God. But if I were judged on the basis of my works, I’d be cast into hell right alongside of everybody else that will be judged by their work.
So you don’t want that to happen. You want to be judged on the basis of Christ’s death, barrel and resurrection. And when you put your trust in Christ and Savior, that’s exactly what happens. will then evaluate you based upon Christ and His death and His righteousness that will have been impeded or credited to your account because He took your sin and paid for them. And so don’t wind up being judged by your works, be judged by the righteousness and the death bear on resurrection of Christ.
Oh, so these people aren’t Christians? No. They’re referring to? Yes. Oh, I thought it was Christians and the works that the Christians did after they believed. No. Okay. Okay. Thank you very much. You’re very welcome. We now have Ralph in Lakeland, Florida. And Ralph, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Yes. We took a couple of pictures that put to mind. Jesus says, if you let me to keep my commandments, and he who said if you love me, and keep not a commandment the liar and we spit out no it doesn’t say spit out that’s part you had it but it says you are a liar you know it’s it’s really not saying you’re not saved a saying if you say that you love me and you don’t keep this commandment your lawyer because of your love or do you will keep this commandment but he’s not saying you’re not saved
and so there are christians who don’t love the lord and christians that are acting in disobedience and they’re exposed as not loving the Lord. You know, if you have a Christian who claims that they are living for Christ, this, that, and the other, and you see how they’re violating the Bible in their life, they don’t love the Lord. If they say they do, they’re a liar, and we can know that. But it doesn’t mean that they’re not saved. And the result will be, of course, loss of reward, and they will obviously be chasing their discipline and his life for that.
But he’s not gonna spit you out. There’s no verse that says he’s stitched out. If there will be no adulterers, no murderers, or no rapists in heaven. That’s true. And the moment you trust Christ, God sees you as righteous as righteous as God because Christ paid for every sin you’d ever commit in your whole lifetime. So no matter what sins you’ve committed, Christ paid for them in full and credits you fully with His righteousness. So that’s why you’re eligible to enter heaven.
God will not see you from the moment you believe as an adulterous or as a rapist he will see you as righteous. Look if you will at 2 Corinthians 5, 21 that says God made Christ to be sin for us, Christ who knew no sin that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. God sees the believer as righteous and it’s on that basis you enter heaven. He doesn’t see your sin. That was paid for at the cross.
It’s forgiven and it says in Hebrews 10 17, there are sins and iniquities. Will I remember? No more. So they won’t even be brought up. Amount of time, we have to wind up the program. But thanks again for tuning in today. We want you to know that we do need your help.
