I have a new track that I have produced that I’ve written called, Am I Going to Heaven? And it has 20 questions on here that deal with the current terms that are being used today.
And it’s really one that is very effective, I think, in leading people to Christ. I shared this track with a young lady last week and as she read over I said all twenty of those that are offered there for you to check as to what you think you might have to do to heaven are wrong. She said is it wrong to follow Jesus? That was one of the choices. And I said no it’s not wrong to follow Jesus but you don’t get to heaven by following Jesus, you get to heaven by trusting Jesus.
Well anyway, we have an answer why each of these terms are wrong including Let Jesus in your heart or commit your life to Jesus Christ or get your life turned around or Surrender your life or make Christ the Lord of your life all those terms are used in this track It’s a wonderful track to really bring clarification to somebody’s already saved and also of course bringing the gospel to somebody who is lost. We offer these in our resource center.
You can get them and use them in your evangelism. And we also have several other tracks. It’s really terrific. We also have a track here called New Eye Opener. And this one will send out one free copy to you if you’d like for you to look at. And if you call it, you can get it. But it takes 24 Bible versions of the current ones and it shows you of by the way list 200 The most significant emissions from many of the newer translations and it tells you which one favorite new translations, how many emissions they have.
For example, the new international of the 250, it has 195 of those emissions in the new international. No surprise, that’s probably one of the worst bibles out there, the NIV. But you’re welcome to call and get one of these tracks. We’ll send it out, call the new eye opener and it’s all about versions and it gives you a list of 200 very significant omissions from most of the more modern translations. Good to be with you. Welcome to all of you that are listening from all over the country.
And thanks for tuning into Bibleline today. If you have your Bible, get it out and we’ll take a look at the scriptures for a few minutes. And then of course we’ll answer the questions that you called in with and take colors up on the air. In Romans chapter 4 in verse 1, it says, What shall we say then that Abraham, our Father, pertaining to the flesh hath found. This is an amazing passage because here you have one of the great heroes of the Bible.
One of those that is revered, perhaps above almost all of the heroes of the Bible. And what did it say in the Bible concerning what Abraham found concerning his works? Well it says in verse 2, If Abraham were justified by works, he He would have where of the glory, but not before God. In other words, Abraham by his works would have glory before men, but not before God. Isn’t that amazing? In other words, our works won’t get us anywhere with God as far as our salvation is concerned.
And I love that phrase in Romans 4, 2, where it says, but not before God, but not before God, but not before God. Abraham’s works would get him glory Ghoulry before men, but not before God, but not before God. Verse 3 says what’s saying in the scripture, and that’s always the final authority. We should always be saying chapter and verse please, can you support that with scripture? Because most people cannot. They just cannot support it. And doctrine is like, for example, purgatory.
Can’t be supported by the Bible. It’s just a man invented doctrine. The limbo can’t be supported by Scripture. It’s just not in anybody’s Bible. And you can’t find any scriptural support for that. Infant baptism, not in anybody’s Bible. It’s just not there. There are so many things that are taught by many today that are just not in the Bible. Just not there. Well what does the Scripture say? Well here in Romans chapter 4, it quotes from Genesis 15 and 6, and it says, Abraham, both believed God and it was counted unto him for righteousness.
So Abraham simply believed what God told him. It doesn’t say he believed in God, which he did. He says he believed God, which meant he believed what God told him. And if you read Genesis chapter 15, God had told him about the Savior, Jesus, the coming seed that would bring about salvation for all men. And Abraham believed that promise about Jesus and the Bible says it was Canada unto him for righteousness. So Abraham was made righteous based upon his belief or trust in Christ that God had spoken him about in Genesis 15.
And Genesis 15 is a very, very important verse. It’s quoted three times in the New Testament. quoted here by Paul in Romans 4, where in verse 3 he quotes it, proving again that Abraham was saved by faith without works. He also quotes it again in Galatians chapter 3, where he again demonstrates that Abraham was saved by faith and not by works, and certainly not by the works of the law. And then of all places which you would never expect it to be quoted, It’s quoted in James 2, and it shows there that James also recognized that Abraham was saved and made righteous by faith without works.
He quotes and says the Scripture was fulfilled, which says that Abraham believed God and it was counted to him for righteousness. James focuses on an event that took place 40 years later. Abraham was saved, he didn’t even have a son. But Abraham was justified by works before men When, and that’s the key word if you read over there in James 2 22, it says, when, when, when, when, when, when he offered up in the sun Isaac. When he offered up Isaac, people knew that Abraham really believed God because he dearly loved Isaac.
He’d waited a lifetime for him and got his child in a miraculous way because he and Sarah both were beyond childbearing. And here God answers his promise to Abraham by giving him that son Isaac, which he dearly loved, and he was willing to offer him up because God had asked him to. And it showed or demonstrated before men that he believed God all along. And James points out that Abraham was saved and made righteous by faith without works. Forty years earlier in his life.
James more carefully and you’ll see it’s not talking about people getting saved, it’s talking about believers earning rewards and being justified before men, which that’s before men for works and rewards that will come as a result of our living the Christian life. Then it says here in Romans chapter 4 and verse 4, now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace but of debt. What it’s saying here in Romans 4, 4, as long as you try to work your way to heaven, you won’t make heaven.
That’s right. If you are working to go to heaven, then you’ll receive no grace. If you receive no grace, you’ll go to hell. Grace means mercy, unmerited favor. And in order to be able to enter heaven, you have to be saved by God’s grace or by God’s mercy. If you’ve got what you deserved, if I got what I deserved, we’d all go to hell. Some people think they deserved to go to heaven. There’s nobody that deserves to go to heaven.
Every one of us deserved to go to hell. We’re all condemned. We’re all sinners. And so we need God’s mercy. He is grace in order to be saved. It reminds me of that story where the lady went to the photographer and she got her picture taken and she got the proofs back in the mail and she saw them and she was irate. She storms back down to the photographer’s studio and slams them on the desk and hollers at the poor photographer and says, these pictures don’t do me justice.
And she was just absolutely livid and she was angry. And the photographer said, lady, you don’t need justice. You need mercy. Well, that’s the case for all of us because we all need mercy. If we got justice, we’d go to hell. Certainly, that is something that you need to really think about because if you say, I want justice, you’re going to be in trouble because justice would demand your death and separation from God. But God’s mercy provided a Savior in Jesus Christ and And all those that would put their trust in Him would be eternally saved.
So let’s go on to verse 5 now in Romans 4, 5. One of my favorite verses, it says, but to Him that worketh not, but to Him that worketh not, but to Him that worketh not. What does that mean to the person who does not work? Who doesn’t do anything? But believeth on Him that is on Christ that justify it the ungodly. Who are the ungodly? We are. Who is the one that justifies the ungodly? It’s Jesus. How did he do that by his death on the cross of Calvary?
In our place. And the Bible says here to the one who does not work at all, but would believe on Christ who justifies the ungodly, that person’s faith in Christ is counted for righteousness. So if you’re a believer, if you place your faith in Christ, the one who justifies the ungodly, God counts your faith in Christ for righteousness, just like with Abraham. That’s what Paul is saying here in Romans 4. Abraham believed God, and it was Canada, him for righteousness.
Abraham believed the coming promise of the Savior Jesus. And when he believed on Christ, Abraham was saved. And then how wonderful it is here in Romans 4 and 6. It tells us about David, the prophet, David the King. David the shepherd that killed Goliath with his slingshot. Well it says in verse 6 here, even as David also described with the blessedness, the happiness of the man under whom God imputes righteousness, it says without works, without works, without works, without works.
Boy, a lot of people out there want to work their way to heaven. And I’m afraid they’re not going to make it. They’re not going to make it. There are whole denominations that are basing their hopes on works to get them into heaven. I was raised in a church like that part of a denomination that they all were basing their hopes for heaven on their works. I was always led to believe I was gaining new heights every day as I was on my upward way.
I was always led to believe there was a scale one day that would be pulled out, and my works would be weighed in the balances of that great scale. And if I had more good works than bad works, I’d get into heaven. If I had more bad works than good works, I’d go to hell. I was frightened. I really was very concerned that I wasn’t going to make it. And you know, when I saw in the Bible that salvation was a gift, that it was paid for by Christ that it was offered free to whosoever would believe or trust Christ.
That was great news for me. I said, wow, this means that I could go to heaven and I trusted Christ as my Savior and received the gift of everlasting life. Thank you for listening. I’m Dr. Englunds from Mrs. Bibleline. We’re going to go right down to the phone lines in just a moment. The phone number is 1-800-576-3771. We want you to give us a call. 1-800-576-3771. Give us a call right now and we’ll get you up on the air and answer your question.
Let me first take Tony in Plant City, leaves an offer a question he just called a moment ago. He said, can you explain what the Seventh day Adventists believe? What is their religion based on? Well the Seventh-day Adventists believe that you have to worship on Saturday. They say that worshiping on Saturday is the mark of the living God. They teach that worshiping on Sunday is the mark of the beast. So basically anybody who worships on Sunday is lost according to the Seventh Adventist.
You must worship on Saturday. That’s not true. are totally wrong, and obviously they believe many other things that are wrong. They believe there is no hell. They believe in soul sleep. They believe in works for salvation. You have to keep the commandments to be saved, and on and on and on we go. And it’s all because they read the Bible through the lenses of Ellen G. White. Ellen G. White didn’t get it right. And as long as they read her books in order to interpret the Bible, she is the infallible interpreter for the seven dead menists.
They’ll never come clean until they do that. But they don’t realize that the Bible teaches that we’re not saved by works. We’re saved by faith in Christ alone. Colossians 216 says that Christ took the law and nailed it to is crossed and took it out of the way. It says, therefore let no man, therefore judge you in respect of the holy days or of a new moon or of the Sabbath. The Sabbath is not to be an issue because it was part of the Old Testament law that Christ died for.
The Seventh-day Adventists need to repudiate their false teachings and simply trust Christ if their to inner heaven and we need to pray for some very tear people are seven-day business but they have been blinded by lng white that’s a cult and a false system of belief we now have adam in Tampa florida and Adam welcome to Bible and you’re on the air yeah I question everybody about the coming of of the messiah uh… in the old testament where exactly uh…
where exactly did it give it a description of the coming of the messiah the first and second time uh… the first time all right sure Sure, the first coming of Jesus is described almost everywhere. Micah 5.2 tells us the city in which the Messiah would be taking on human flesh. It says, Now Bethlehem Ephrata, though there will be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of these shall come forth unto me the one that is to be ruler in Israel, whose is going forth and been from a bold, even from everlasting.
Talking about this one who is God, from everlasting, who would actually come and take on human flesh in the city of Bethlehem. That was literally fulfilled. What is interesting to me is that there are two Bethlehem’s in Israel, and God names the very Bethlehem that Christ would be born in. I have been to Bethlehem many, many, many times, and I’ve been out there and walked in the shepherds feels where the shepherds probably We are standing somewhere nearby when the angel made the announcement that unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior which is Christ the Lord.
Isaiah 7-14 tells us that Christ would be born of a virgin. Therefore the Lord Himself shall give you a sign, behold a virgin shall conceive and bear a son and shall call his name E-manuell. Isaiah 9-6 tells us a child would be born that would be God. His name would be called Wonderful Counselor, the Mighty God, the everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace. What a wonderful and grand verse that is. Psalms 22 tells us in verse 16, a thousand years before it ever takes place that the Messiah’s hands and his feet would be pierced as he would die to pay for your sin and mine.
Psalm 22 18, a thousand years before it ever takes place, tells about how they would gamble at the foot of the cross for his cloak. And all of these things were literally fulfilled. Isaiah 53 is a whole chapter that talks about Christ coming into this world, the virgin birth, his substitutionary death. I love verse 5 and 6. He was wounded for our transgressions. He was bruised for our iniquities. The chastisement of our peace was upon him, and with his stripes we are healed.
All we like sheep have gone astray. We’ve turned everyone to his own way, and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. Wow, these are grand and wonderful verses. And it goes on down to tell how he would be silent before his accusers, how that he would be crucified with transgressors or two thieves, how that he would forgive those that had transgressed against him and verse after verse after verse there’s tons of them and we just gave you a few.
If you want to get a good listing there are a number of wonderful books out. We have a book here called Evidence that Demands a Verdict. It’s the latest edition and that one has a lot of great evidence and some of that is prophecy and there’s a pretty good long list in there of the prophecies of the first coming of the Messiah. Thank you Adam for that call and I hope that helps with those people you’re I’m sure witnessing to Bob in Chester Virginia.
Welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Yes, I’ve got a question that somebody has presented me with and I’d like to see what your answer would be to it. Go for it. Okay, it’s in Exodus 6 verses 2 and 3 where God also spoke to Moses and he told Moses, okay, I am the Lord. I appeared to your Father’s Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and I was God Almighty, but by his name Yahweh or the Lord he didn’t make himself known to them and yet in Genesis 1578 it says that he did make himself known he identified himself as Yahweh to Abraham and in Genesis 28 10 to 17 it shows that he made himself known as Yahweh to Jacob and yet in Exodus it says no I haven’t made myself known to them by that name well Well obviously Israel didn’t begin as a nation until
Abraham and then of course when they went into Egypt they had pretty much I think not heard that name so he readresses it. I think right from the get-go was known as Yahweh or Jehovah. Let me just, I’ll have to take a look at it again. I know I’ve been over that before and I’ll try to come up with a better answer for you But I think Schilfield also has a good note on that back in that passage. My concern is if he tells Moses that he didn’t lose God, didn’t lose his memory.
So why would he tell Moses that if in fact the Bible said earlier that God did introduce himself to both Abraham and Jacob as that name and then tells Moses later, hundreds of years later. well i didn’t mention my name to anybody well i don’t think it’s saying that but he says that he wasn’t known to them by that name i think they were just not calling him by that name but they they do here let me just go back at that and readdress it may be in the second half of the show all you have an answer for you Okay, thank you very much.
All right, that was Bob and good question. And now we’re going to go to Walter in safety harbor. Walter welcome to Bibleline. Hello. Hi, Walter. Dr. Lynch, I want to ask you, when you die, I know he talks about, you know that the body goes back to where it came from and the breath of life goes back to God. The body goes back to God. the body goes back to the death where it came from. So what happened to us?
What do we do? We made into the grave until Judgment Day? Our bodies do, but our soul goes to be with the Lord at the moment of death, when the body present with the Lord, it’s like the Corinthians 5, 8, the body is spoken of as sleeping in the grave until the resurrection. So when Christ comes back, that’s when you’ll get your new body that’ll rise up from the earth or if you’re living, you’ll be just transformed on your way up.
This body you’re in now will be transformed. To be with Him. Right, immediately, you’re conscious and everything else. You just don’t get your new body until the resurrection. The body sleeps, not the soul. I’m really, you know, I’m really, I’m still looking up. We’ve got to go to break and stay there. We’ll come back and we’ll talk more about it in just a moment. Don’t go away. Bibleline will be back in a moment. To pledge your support for Bibleline, Give us a call at 1-800-576-3771.
That’s 1-800-576-3771. All right, we’re bringing Bibleline to you here from Tampa, Florida from our studios here at the Calvary Community Church. We’re on the pastor and we are excited about being able to be with you each and every day. Thank you, thank you, thank you for tuning in to Bibleline. And we hope that you’ll pass that word along your friends and help us expand our audience and also let them know about the internet where they’ll be able to listen to our programs again and again throughout the day.
Tomorrow we have those classes if you’re in the Tampa Bay area you can come out or you can sign up over the telephone and get them on the internet. You can watch the classes. We’ve got one and two sitting there. If you sign up, you can get the passcode and be able to watch class 1 and 2 and tomorrow night you can actually sit and watch live the classes as we do them here at our headquarters at Calvary Community Church.
Again we are listed supported if you would consider praying for us we would appreciate that very much and of course if you could also give to Bible and that would be especially a blessing. So why not consider giving a gift? You can do it by phone, by credit card, or you can mail that gift in to Bible and we’ll be glad to give you the address. If you call in on our 800 number or we’ll be glad to send you an omelet with our address printed on it.
It’ll make it nice and easy for you to be able to give to Bible and we have lots resources. We have many of my teachings. If you would like to get all of last year’s sermons, that’s 52 CDs. That’s 52 hours of learning. Most of my sermons are about 50 to 55 minutes long. And so you can get a lot of Bible teaching. You play that in your car in your home, wherever you might be on CD, and you’ll get 52.
That’s the whole year’s worth of sermons. And the price would be $250 a gift to Bible and it’s really more valuable than that. But you can get that for a gift of $250. And I think you’ll enjoy. A lot of people use these sermons again and again and play them over and over again. We’re gonna have to go back and join the stations that have been on break and I hope that you will Stay tuned for the second half if your radio station doesn’t carry the second half call them and ask them Why?
Because generally they have to make a scheduling change to give us the full hour So why not consider doing that and also join us on the internet because then you can catch the full program If you’d like and I hope you’ll try that as well. Here we go We’re gonna do the second half of Bibleline Continue in your area. You can. Just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Now here again is Dr. Hank Lindstrom. Alright, we’re back for that break and this is Bibleline and we’re coming to you from Tampa, Florida, from our studios.
Here at the Calvary Community Church, we’re on the pastor. We look forward to being with you each and every day Monday through Friday. And we hope that you’ll tune us in each and every day as often as you can. If you miss a program, you can go to the internet and you’ll be able to catch the program as many times as you want. 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The programs are there sitting there waiting for you and you can go backward and forward and pause me and it’s really exciting and I hope that you’ll take advantage of the whole internet which is so wonderful because you can catch our television programs and our radio programs all at one time.
Anyway, we certainly appreciate all of you and we know that many of you enjoy the program and listen every day. If you could help us to be a partner with us and give the Bible, I hate to talk about money at all. But let me just say that the way we’re able to be on the air is because our listeners support it. And if we didn’t have you as a partner, we’d vanish, we’d go right off the air. I would hate for us not to be on the air in your area and we’re reaching people really basically all over the world.
We are broadcast down in Honduras, Central America on a live station. They run us for free. We are on in Mongolia with our television program and they run us for free. But many of our stations cost and it cost a great deal of money. And the only way to be able to pay for the satellite charges, the phone charges and all equipment charges and all the other expenses of radio time we need your help. Otherwise there are no salaries I don’t get paid to be on Bibleline but we donate ourselves so that we keep the cost very low and so we are getting the most value for your dollars you invest in Bibleline and if you’d like to help us if you just gave a dollar for every program you listen to or if you just gave a dollar a day.
That would be a wonderful help to Bible. I know gift is too small, but if you could afford to give a larger gift, that would really be greatly appreciated. Send that gift to Bible and you can call and get the address or we’ll repeat it at the end of the program. You can also call our operators and they’ll be glad to send you an envelope with our address on it or you can give that gift by credit card over the phone.
So thank you so much in in advance. I want to thank you for praying for and giving to Bibleline. All right. We have Walter still holding on out there and we’re going to go back to Walter and. Hello. Are you there? Yes. So we’re asking about Jehovah. What is your question? My question was, you know, where did you go and you was after that formula during the break? Yeah. Okay. I’m going to read from the James of the all right you listen to the phone radio on the phone i think i can pick up your station here to offer all i’m so sorry well let’s go to my car to pick up the station you know how always all right well i’m going to try to just give you the answer over the phone here but anyway in the jameson uh…
faucet brown uh… it gives here it says but by my name it says rather interactively by my name Jehovah was I not known to them am I not the Almighty God who pledged my honor for the fulfillment of the covenant also the self-existent God who lived to accomplish it rest assured therefore that it is I that will bring it to pass and the passage as it caused a lot of discussion is alleged by many that the occurrence of the name Jehovah in the earlier portions of history was really added in later.
It has been thought to intimate that as the name Jehovah he was not known to the patriarchs and so on and so on. But this view certainly is opposed by many, many other verses from other parts of the scripture. And what it’s saying here is that the use of the name Jehovah, now by God himself in so special a manner must be considered with reverence to the national covenant into which he was about to enter into with Israel. So I think that is what he’s talking about here.
This is the first time that he’s known by that name to the nation. As he enters into them, enters into a covenant with him at Mount Sinai, the dispensation of law begins. And now this is the way that he would address himself to that nation from now on in the covenantal way. I think the note is very good and I recommend the Jameson Faucet Brown commentary. It usually has a great discussion on almost every verse of the Bible. And we have that for a special gift of $90 for the three volume under bridge set and it normally sells for about $140.
It’s really a wonderful treat. We now have Paula in St. Petersburg. Paula, welcome to Bibleline. Good morning, Dr. Lindstrom. My question is about in the book of Ezekiel, they use Lord God two different ways. One is all in capitals and the other is just a capital, all in capital G. Is this a distinction between God the Father and God the Son? Absolutely. The word Lord in small letters, capital, little O, little R, little D, the translators of letting us know it comes from the Hebrew word, out of noi, which means Lord or Master.
in all capitals and God in all capitals comes from God’s personal name, the Four Consonants, Y-H-W-H, which is pronounced either Jehovah or Yahweh. And then the word God in small letters, capital G, little O little D, comes from the word Elohim, which denotes the office of God. So you read it basically knowing that and it really helps. The Schofield Bible really does help with all of the names of God and the different combinations of words and how they come together to give us a greater picture of who God is and His majesty.
But that’s exactly what’s going on in Ezekiel. So if you had Lord God, it might be, you know, which one are you referring to with? all capital L O R D. Yes. And then what is it? Little G. I mean a big G little O D. It one to all in capital Cindy. The other one is capital L small O R D and capital G O D. Okay. Well, I would be. I don’t know. Yaw way. So that is a picture of God the Father for sure.
Okay. Well, thank you very much. All right. Thank you for calling in. And the Schofield Bible has, especially in the book of Genesis, a whole lot of notes on the names of God and the Hebrew words from which they come and how the translators let us know without any real knowledge of the language by the way they capitalized them or didn’t capitalize the names. We have Barbara in the Bahamas and Barbara, welcome to Bibleline. Good morning. This is Sandra.
Oh, Sandra, okay. Where are you calling from? I’m calling from Tampa, but I am calling because I’ve been listening to this program ever so long. I even listen to the reruns. And I’m gone again and I trust and God a lot. He’s my only source of sustenance. I’ve been going through some really harsh experiences. I’m wondering if it’s the enemy coming against me or I know man has no authority over God and I know before anybody can hurt me to have to kill God first and I know that’s impossible.
But I was listening in September when you said that they were right around the time and Christ would have been coming any moment and I was so prepared for that and I was ready to go right then. know how do we know when this occurrence will come again because you had predicted a date? Well I didn’t predict a date but I do know that whatever year Christ comes, it will probably come on the Feast of Trumpets which usually occurs in late September or October every year.
It shifts with the Jewish calendar, they go by the lunar month, but the Feast of Trumpets is the feast day that pictures the return of Christ at the Rapture. The first four feasts that preceded it were all pictures of the first coming events and they were all fulfilled literally on the day. That’s why I believe that the Rapture probably happened right on that feast day. Christ died on the feast of Passover exactly as Israel was offering up their Passover lamb.
the Feast of Unleavened Bread pictured his burial and he was buried during that feast. And then he rose from the dead on the Feast of First Fruit’s Day. The Holy Spirit came on that day and that was right on the day. So I think that whatever your Christ returns, it will probably be in the fall. It really doesn’t matter when it comes to me. I would like to be prepared any day. Amen. It is. I just want to be prepared.
Well, as far as salvation is concerned, you’re prepared when you trust it, and you’re saved forever, and you will be in the rapture. But as far as meeting him, as far as evaluating our lives for reward, we need to live daily so that we find him approving of how we have conducted our lives every day. I’m determined to go on, and I just need you to pray for him. All right. Well, we sure will, Sandra. Yes, thank you very much.
Thank you so much for calling in. And we go through trials and troubles here and that’s really a par for the course. The Bible tells us that believers will suffer persecution. I like 2 Timothy 3 where it says, all those that will live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. You’re going to have to expect that. And it’s part of what the Christian will go through. philosophy that everything’s going to be nice and perfect and you’ll be healthy and wealthy and wise is not biblical.
We can have God’s wisdom, and we have His protection, but He doesn’t promise that we’re not going to have any trials or tribulations. If you read the New Testament, it’s full of passages that talk about believers going through trials. And of course, the book of Job is a great book to read to get some perspective on that. It’s a very, very wonderful book to read. We’re now going to go to Benjamin in Clearwater. Benjamin, welcome to Bible Life. a good monitor to hang.
In John chapter 5, talk about a paralyzed person and how Jesus healed this person. But then in verse 14 Jesus finds him. in the temple and just to say to him, look, you was healed, don’t seem no more to avoid, look like me, I mean look to me that the CDC, because the person is senior or practice In practice, it’s a scene. I would like to, to use plain to mean if when people think they can, you know, they can get sick because it’s practice and they are the scene.
Thank you. Alright, and certainly illness can come as a result of sin, and the Bible certainly teaches that, but there’s a lot of different reasons for illness. I have listed in my studies over the years about 10 or 12, I forget how many I came up with, different reasons. In John 9, you have a man that’s blind from birth, and the disciples began to say, who sinned his parents or did this man sin that he should be born blind and Christ said neither.
He was born blind for the glory of God that Christ might heal him and demonstrate that he is God, that Jesus is God. So in this particular case he’s warning him about the potential but certainly we know that there are sins that can be contracted because of sexual activity that’s outside of the will of God. We’ve seen a tremendous number of people in the world become afflicted with AIDS and millions have died. Millions have died in just the country of Africa because of AIDS and it seems to be spreading around the world and it takes a long time to incubate.
So sometimes it’s many, many years later when death finally occurs. But all of these are potentially true. So we have a great book in our Resource Center here called None of These Diseases, which is written by a medical doctor and there have been, I don’t know how many million copies sold, but it really is a wake up. It tells you that if we were only to follow the rules of the Bible, that we would live much healthier lives and we as the title of the book comes right out of the book of Exodus, God promised Israel that if they would follow His rules that they would have none of the diseases come upon them that…
We’re afflicting the people in Egypt where they’d come out of. And it’s really quite an eye-opener about how you can live a longer, healthier life by simply following the promises and the rules and instructions that God gave. So, you might want to get that book. I love it. And I think it’s a powerful, powerful book that actually tells us that it predates the Bible predates modern medical science by about 3000 years plus. That’s exciting. We have Ken in Decatur, Illinois.
And Ken, welcome to the program from Decatur. Yes, Pastor Lestrim, comment on that end of question on the chapter 6x for this, where they’re talking about by the name of God Almighty, that he was known to Jacob by the name of God Almighty. And then it goes on to say, but my name’s Jehovah was I not known. Well back in Genesis, you know, you can chase down these names of God and spend the rest of your life almost doing it.
But back in Genesis chapter 2 of verse 1, I verse 4, it talks about in the earth and when everything was created in that day, the Lord God made the earth and heavens. Okay, well the Lord God is Jesus, Jehovah the God I am that spoke to Moses in the burning bush. And then if you go back to John chapter 8, 58, and then back here it says in here Jesus said unto them very very i said to you before a braham was i am well it seems to me that you know if you do you know back in the accident when he was speaking to them and he said by this name i i was not known it was because of the relationship with that name to jesus and the deliverer and the savior in that respect he was not known by that name jahova in that aspect of that name
i mean that stuff gets so complicated and it just trouble me when i heard that because what i do when i run into stuff like that i just by faith understand that there’s so much here that i don’t know and i never question what that word says because you can get into that stuff and you can start saying aha here’s a mistake well every word that bible is true and if you did you find some of you think not true you better believe it’s true until you find out until god himself speaks to you and say i made a mistake Because until that happens, we’re the one that’s wrong.
Okay. Well, you’re absolutely right. And I thank you for those comments. That was very helpful. Okay. Thank you for the pastor. Actually, you know, and Schofield has a note here back in Genesis. And Ken is exactly right. You see the name Yahweh or Jehovah throughout even the second chapter of Genesis in verse after verse. But it says in the Scofield note there that Jehovah or Yahweh is the distinctive name of deity as in covenant with Israel. So when you get over to Exodus, that’s the way he was to be known in his covenant relationship with Israel.
So that was a distinctive name and it wasn’t that it wasn’t revealed before. It simply wasn’t the distinctive name by which he would be known or called. So I hope that helps clarify all of that. We got into a great discussion on that. We have Kareem in Tampa, Florida. Kareem, welcome to Bible Andrew on the air. Good morning. How you doing? Good. Hey, I got a question. I’m not sure. I’m a little confused on when Jesus comes back. Does he, you say he’s a peer?
Does he, when he comes back to see raptures out then and we see him then and then he goes back and then he comes back for during the tribulation and then he goes back and then he comes back and defeats Satan. Well here’s the order. The next event in God’s program is the Rapture when Christ will come back part way to the earth and shout and up we’re going to come to meet him in the air and he goes back to heaven with us and then seven years later at the end of the seven years of tribulation that will come here on the earth he’ll return all the way to the earth physically touching down on the earth and ruling over the earth from Jerusalem.
It says in Zechariah 14, 4 his feet will touch down on the Mount of Olives at the second coming seven years after the rapture and the mountain will split in half. It is equal 44. It tells us, Chapter 43 and 44 of Ezekiel, how that he would plant the souls of his feet right there in the temple that will be rebuilt after the rapture during the tribulation period. And he will rule the earth from Jerusalem as the world’s capital.
And his feet will be right here on the earth as he will rule from that temple in Jerusalem. So then after the thousand year earthly reign, Christ will destroy this earth and create a new heavens and new earth and then will be into eternity with the Lord. But basically the rapture and the second coming are not the same events. They’re separated by seven years and the rapture is the conclusion of this Gentile age that we’re in right now where God has turned to the Gentiles.
But as soon as the rapture happens, God will return to carrying out His promises to Israel and we believe because they’re in the land right now that we’re getting close to when Jesus will come back. And it’s interesting to me that Israel is so teeny and yet they command so much of the news all the time. It’s a country that’s smaller than the state of Rhode Island. And yet the news, you would think it was a huge, huge country, and it’s just a teeny country.
And yet it commands so much news. And that’s because it’s all a part of God’s plan, that Christ would come back and that the Jewish people would be hated of all nations, but He will come back and He will deliver them and set them up as the head nation, and Christ Himself will rule over them from the throne there in Jerusalem. So when he actually comes back and he actually comes back to Earth where everyone was seeing on Earth at that time.
Exactly. That’ll be the second coming seven years after the Rapture. Every eye will see him. And people will still be lost after they see him? Well the millennium, the thousand year reign, begins with all believers because Christ will destroy everybody that’s not a believer at the end of the tribulation period. They will have children and their children will grow up and marry and have children. And apparently many of those will not believe. And it just tells us how wicked the human heart is.
It says in Jeremiah 17.9, the heart is desperately wicked. And obviously that’s our human nature that we have inherited from Adam. In spite of the fact that Christ is here visibly seen and the knowledge of the Lord covers the earth, there will be people who will reject Him. I really appreciate it. Thank you Kareem. That was Kareem in Tampa, Florida. You’re welcome to call in if you like. The phone number is 1-800-576-3771. Please explain Joanne and Tampa calls in and she wants to have us explain binding the spirits and so on and can a person bind the spirits.
There’s a lot of people that have just gone overboard with that. They see demons everywhere, but it is possible for someone who has unsaved to become demon in dwelt. And in that case, we have the power, I believe in the name of Christ to cast that demon out. But that is only a very temporary measure. I’ve had some encounters over my years of experience in dealing with people. I’ve felt that we’re truly demon in 12. And they couldn’t hear the gospel because the demons would stop their ears and totally distract them so that they wouldn’t be able to listen.
And they would speak in a different voice. It was not their normal voice. And they would be very easily agitated and have seemingly very superhuman strength, powers and so on. It’s kind of a scary experience. I don’t go looking for those kinds of events. But I remember in one particular case, I just asked whatever demon was in there to be cast out or to be silenced. And I had about five minutes where this person could actually hear the gospel.
Then you have a window of opportunity to lead them to Christ. And if they trust the Lord, then the demon never comes back. But if you don’t, the Bible talks about demons can come back and they bring other demons with them. So the latter state is worse than at the beginning. So obviously this is a whole realm that You don’t really want to try to get into. But if it comes your way, binding spirits and demons is stuff you don’t really want to get yourself involved with.
If you’re a believer, you don’t have to worry about being demon and dwelt. It says in 1 John 4, 4, 4, graders heed that is in you, then heed that is in the world. So once you receive the Lord as your Savior, you are never going to be demon and dwelt. We can still be demon-influenced. We read what we see, what we… You know, the people we hang out with can influence us, but we can never be demon-involved. Gotta run.
